the 10 is a condition.

dee, i gots to tell you. it never ceases to amaze me how my physio can think of a new way to torture me. today my new exercise was one-legged squats in the pool. managed 10. my balance is shot to pieces. needed to hold onto the handrail for most of them. lol
I couldn't do that now, WOW!
well in the water it is certainly easier.
When everything is all done, need to give the physio a medal for torture.
some people pay big bucks for that kind of pain granny
*giggle* i have a factory nearby which makes up awards, medals etc. i might just do that.
ruru, your time will come....
I want full body physio
that t'would be pretty comical
lol ru
no ruru, you NEED a full body physio.
ewwww, dau managed to leak dishwater all over the kitchen floor, due to a drain malfunction... retightened drain and sopped up water, back to dishwashing.

Thanks so much, dee and rbud.
Hi all - just passing through. FYI article on disappearing language points up how much our Babble is more than just fun and mental exercise: http://news.yahoo.com/scottish-man-die\ns-taking-towns-dialect-him-122022552.h\ntml
was confusing it with gout sorry :(
nice jw
yqw sorry I sidetracked you by wrong clue
Not to worry, Dee.

Lots of blood, rose? I'm so dense tonight. Thanks, I'm still trying to put the letters in correctly.
you know the rhyme, blood and go** all over the floor?
No, hon, I haven't heard that one.
go4, rhymes with floor, it also means what a bull can do with his horns.
Rbud - I'll check it out again - If it doesn't work I'll try copy/paste
http://news.yahoo.com/scottish-man-die\ns-taking-towns-dialect-him-122022552.h\ntml
Does it go with go7-36? Thanks
no, peach. different word altogether. go + **ght, opposite of left + loch **** monster
rbud, try this News.yahoo.com/scottish-man-dies-takin\ng-towns-dialect-him-122022552.html
the word is "taking" -- I don't understand why it doesn't paste correctly. The rest seems okay, though.
Oh, thanks so much, rose. I'm thing I should head for my pillows. Thanks for all the help.

See y'all later today.

In a remote fishing town on the tip of Scotland's Black Isle, the last native speaker of the Cromarty dialect has passed away, taking with him a little fragment of the English linguistic mosaic. Academics said Wednesday that Bobby Hogg, who was 92 when he died last week, was the last person fluent in the dialect once common to the seaside town of Cromarty, 175 miles (280 kilometers) north of Edinburgh.

You tell me and I'll know?
found asylum here as chat is off on wb - the crowd is nice too
Ah. :)
call me matt if you like ;)
Welcome! Nice to see you here. How'd you find Babble?
From my profile?
Ok, Matt. :)
yes
You should become a pro member... then you'll have the stats for longer than 2 weeks and a profile.
which stats?
The tile and word stats you see below the grid.
the bottom of the window? or the finished games?
You can only see them for 2 weeks after you register.
Then they will disappear.
ok that was at the same time
I rely on those to finish these grids.
They're invaluable.
Oh hey... want a good laugh at my expense?
Check my October 01 update in my Babble profile.
always ; )
naked? read aboput it, please tell the whole story
I am telling the story, Matt... go to the link there. It's an audio clip of me telling the story. :P
You can listen to that while you Babble. lol
i will, didnt notice the depth of it at first ...
The depth of what?
dose
that there was a sound file connected to it - thought it for something twitterish which i dont do (yet). listening to the recording already. friendly voice
Oh. I twitter... a lot. But mostly just political stuff. Links to articles... that no one reads. :P
It's pretty useless really. All you can do on Twitter is post updates... not too exciting.
not only the voice is friendly, matt. the man behind it is friendly too.
Matt knows that, Rose. He followed me here from Weboggle, where we are connected. :)
So why the "Shallow One" name Matt? You don't strike me as being too shallow?
ah, weboggle, haven't played in eons.
what does the 10 start with?
wi, kje
wi
ok, ty
the quality or status of the season
You're on Weboggle too Rose?
BR, and how are you, tonight? good day, bad day, or just so-and-so?
yes, neil. as grannyrose. but as i said, ages since i played.
or end with the leader of the Untouchables
Log in there Rose. You have an add request.
in there, neil, reading
You haven't accepted the connection?
hello?
hi ruby
shallow one is a pun on hp lovecrafts cthulhu and the "Deep Ones". Played on 'Team Cthulhu' infrequently on wordsplay to satisfy my addiction, before coming here. Just took that nick to try out this site
Hi?
Hello, Ruby
rose, I wrote to you last night and just discovered that the letter sat as a draft all night. It's on the way now
hello kje
hello BR
hi ruby
and hello Neil
Oh wow. I know someone who is pretty much obsessed with Cthulhu. I should tell him about you!
nad hi BR
and double hello to shallow
haven't even had time to look over the chog.
Mr. Hyde is back; his daughter's visit had no carryover
ruby, got your letter, well one of them anyway. how are you, hun?
So sorry, Ruby
Help with the ji pls - though it's probably staring me in the face!!!
Hi Lizlin... a new face here. :)
Hi there - we've had a guest this week so haven't been here much!
Morning all
ji 5 is a little ditty ... maybe for a product
Well the only "ji" I have rhymes with a popular game... letter/number cards.
Of course! Like so many others, obvious when you know!
hello sue. How is Frank? Is he feeling better? It shows how long it's been since I've seen you.
There are two, Rose
warmongering attitude i think? theres a book by terry pratchett called that
Oh hi Sue! :)
In the hospital, ruby, short update in my profile
Hello, Sue
Used as old fashioned exclamation in UK - by ji...
will check when I take a break; I'm sorry to hear that
Yeah I was thinking of the wrong word
Oh man... sorry to read about Frank's troubles, Sue. Hope that situation improves soon.
Did you get the ten, kje? How were the Blue Angels?
yes, got the 10, ty
Sorry, lost connection, am in the hospital with Frank
need to rush. best wishes to your husband, uusue
Ty, shallow
lost connection, too
Sue, I have a candle lit for you and Frank. Sending positive thoughts.
jo4, to connect
then jo7, jo4 + german word for 'the', plural for jo8
then jo6, someone who jo4's, and plural for another jo7
also jo6, past tense
Thank you, Molly. I will be here on and off.
sue, stay strong and positive. the surgery you mentioned , although quite extensive, is quite routine. surgeons are usually very practiced in it. yes, there will be a fairly long recovery period, but you will be surprised how quickly you will have your Frank back.
dear sue, will be hoping and praying that Frank gets the care he needs and can be fixed up, good as new! {{sue}}
oops, half past meds time, and i'm outta here. happy babbling all of you. this is a fun grid.
How are you doing, Ruby? Are you okay?
no, mr. hyde is here and I've retired to the studio
he can make his own lunch or not
Please be safe.
Good for you Ruby. He needs to stop being rewarded for bad behavior.
it is sad that there was no carryover from his daughter's visit
but he sees it as my bad bahavior lol
It sounds like he has been saving up all his nastiness until she was gone.
and says nasty things about her now
I'm sure he does see it as your bad behavior. Disjointed perception is a symptom of mental imbalance.
however, I'm glad I invited her and sent her the ticket and she had a wonderful time
I'm sure it was nice for you to have someone else around for a while.
yes, and she was a perfect guest
Ah, those are the best kind. ; )
Ruby, this is a "just in case link" http://www.thehotline.org/ the safety plan info is good to know
thank you very much BR. It is comforting to know how much you care!
egress
sorry, pb for me

It is not so much the procedure...My TMJ really freaks out and makes my jaw HURT.

I usually take a muscle relaxer before I go, but I don't have any.
would the dentist have one and would he give it to you?
I don't know. I will ask. Hopefully, it won't take long and I will be OK.
Bye for now!

hi bich...yes so far not too bad
agreed Annie - not my strong point
morning, all. I got a very nasty computer virus yesterday. It locked me out of applications and internet access was denied. It was a ghost virus, asking me to pay $60-80 to have "Win 7 Security" clean up the computer. Luckily, I did not spend any money for this bogus program; I called a technician with my ISP and he came over and did some work to restore my computer. I was in full panic mode, because it happened in the middle of my workday.
ing
speaking of which. . .stats for the second row E please
en6/7
how terrible angel. . . good thing you had someone to call!
ty peri . . .looking
do you need a clue
Good day to all. Angel, --awful, but I am glad you promptly got it fixed.
the same thing happened with my daughter's new laptop, Angel. She was so upset - but we were extremely lucky that our anti-virus program updated about an hour beforehand. It was able to take care of it right away.
in a minute probably peri. . .
glad you got it fixed Angel - that happened to my b4, very nerve racking
yes please peri
hi jess
officer in the Navy
nm
I needed help with those too
hi jmc
naval officer!
yep
jm, my late friend Mary's kids are in DC for several days, visiting with aunt and uncle. They arrived last night. This is an exciting trip for them.
how about the stats for the bottom E please
how old are the kids now, Scrabbs
thx peri for the 2 en's
DC is a great place to be and the weather this weekend will be great. . . except for some showers
i am in indiana however
eg5/6 jmc
why are you in Indiana, jmc?
Oldest girl turned 12 on Sunday, boy is 8, and youngest girl will be 5 on Sunday. Almost 4 yrs since Mary died.
nbt
jmc, eg---pretty brids
ty jess
or birds
yw
Oh my , they are growing up. Did not realize it is almost 4 years since Mary died. The kids are so lucky to have you
i am at meetings for the international quaker board of which i am a member
ok
I love them dearly although the adolescent is often challenging
4 years. . . it is amazing how time moves on!
Do the 2 older children remember Mary?
next year will be 20 years since my hubby died. . .seems like just a few years ago except that the boy is a man
adolescent is a synonym of challenging
(((jmc)))
good afternoon
some jerk 20 something in my quaker meeting was telling me that i had obviously not grieved properly because i still talk about my husband. . . like he would not always be a part of my life or Mary would not always be a part of yours. . . silly people
ty annie
hi buggie
oooh, babble doesn't know wisen...
Wow, that is gall...telling someone they have not grieved properly.
hi buggle - was surprised at that too
The oldest has memories. The boy lost his a few yrs ago. Of course, the youngest never knew her mother.
i thought so but i considered the source and didn't punch him out
jm, he is too young for any wisdom, that 20-something
wow JMC- people never cease to amaze me
really like he had any idea of what it means to lose your spouse. . .
My prayers to you both
ty smores
Maybe he has never experienced grief at all. It is a journey unlike any other.
that ultimately is what i concluded. . .those who have not gone through it sometimes have the mistaken idea it is something you "get over"
Pseudo intellects of that age, read something or take a class about something, and assume they know it all.
That it is Scrabbler, while I never lost a mate, my parents and brother death still seems like yesterday sometimes, even though all were over a decade ago
The young have not experienced enough of life to be humbled by it.
i personally liked the description that it is like losing a limb. . . you learn to deal and not to think about it all the time and your life goes on you still know that you have lost that limb
True
yes. . .i knew a lot more when i was in my 20s too
I do love people who think they're expert psychologists when they don't have a clue, saying they have "experience" with people... It's like claiming to be a professional chef because you once made an omelette
that is insane idea from that person jmc.mentioning a departed loved one is like opening a much loved and cherished boo, happy parts, sad part, but all well loved stories that nobody should feel bad about telling even decades after their spouse has departed
book
haha buggie you nailed it!
That's about it Buggie : )
exactly crossy
I knew everything as a teen :)
I was my most confident and knowing at age 12
Sadly, it's not relegated to teens. There are older people who go on and on about everything, like they are an expert at it.
My mother comes to mind, Molly
in my teens my dad often avised me to move out,get a job,get married and have a few kids while i still knew everything
teehee - my mom told me the same thing
haha that reminds me of my sister in galveston. . .what she doesn't know her 30 year old son the underemployed genius does!
*clasps hands over mouth*
I see it every day, everywhere, everyone seems to think they know better than people who have dedicated their life to better understanding the mind...
bad jmcnrick bad!
The older I get the less I seem to know and the less I understand
very true scrabbler
i would say the less i know but the more i understand that i don't know it
Yes
Clue for the third an5
hi boo
Hi jmc
boo, plural of an opening bet
I stress to med students, residents, PA and NP students: know your limits, know when to seek help or do research, know what you don't know, remain humble....a person's health depends on all of this
very good advise
Scrabbler, you are a gem
that was a lesson given to me by an old lawyer when i first started out. . . if you don't know that answer ask someone who does
not just to the med students - but to all
i have lived by that lesson in practicing law
I have encountered far too many cocky health care providers
Arrogance is a quality that I loathe--such a dangerous state
my mom always told me God gave me two ears and only one mouth for a reason
and i have know attorneys who would always give you legal advice whether they knew anything about the area of law or not
i find that generally a person who does indeed know the most about a topic is also the same person who will pause or have personal doubts before committing themselves to a final answer
Scrabbler, When I was in the hospital a specialist came to see me...he was so arrogant and dismissive I told him I was going to report him and that he had to leave me room.
we call them shoot from the hip attorneys
I like the quote, to paraphrase, better to be quiet and thought of as ignorant, rather than say something and confirm it
good for you annie!
i have always liked that quote too
Good for you, Annie!
nodding and smiling is a great and useful skill ;-
yes, wonderful qoute
Seems like an easy grid
oops sorry
Yes, silence and smiles are safe and smart.
yes, twain also quotes it well "better to to be silent and be thought a inbecil than to sopeak and remove all doubt"
nothing finer thatn a good listener
That is the actual quote that I couldn't precisely recall
Twain was great
Hah, I discovered that any insuline dependant diabetic needs to have a hidden stash of insuline and needles if they have to stay in hospital, too many doctors (who are not diabetes specialists) will take over the treatment, making a hospital stay very very painful
Ugh, Buggie
bummer buggie
very sad Buggie
oh dear
Twain and Oscar Wilde are sources of many of my favorite quotes
clue for the 1`0 please.
it took me several days extra to recover from a (pretty violent) stomach bug last time because I spend so many days with high blood sugar
Hi again all
hi mkg and uu
Hi mkg and sue
i am a big on dorothy parker and ogden nash too
Ridiculous to endure that, Buggie
the doctor hadn't even heard of my treatment (adapting insuline to the quantity of food instead of the other way around) and basically implied I was making it up...
Terrible, Buggie
wow that is terrible buggie
hi mkg wi10 is the essence of a season
winter
Hi uu, mkg
that one scrabs
Ooooh, oooh, is thatthe right answer??

Intestinal obstruction, scrabs, we thought it was an ulcer but I guess not
Same for me, Buggie
oh but isn't that more fixable uu?
when did he progress to that, sue?
i have the season. i have the wi 9. dont see how to get the ten.
make it a gerund
th wi 10 ends with the loch **** monster
the gerund makes it a 9 scrabs
have the ing ending.
Lose a vowel from the season
He's been sick for several weeks, scrabs, otc meds weren't helping so I finally dragged him in
That gets to the wi9, but I don't have the 10
huh????? loose a vowel?
cant see ten.
Haz! The voice of reason and decorum!
hi haz
Yes, cut out, eradicate, lose a vowel from the season (wi6)
Must be a partial bowel obstruction.
ahhhhhhhhhhh, got it thanks
drop the e from wi6
The 10 has the same first 4 letters but then turns into a long noun
Hello, hello.
if i loose a vowel how does that give me. ohg i am confused.
Hello Hazel..lovely seeing you
wi10 - three letters to succeed, three letters meaning three, four letters for the loch monster ending.
ty haz i finally got it
Dunno, scrabs, they were unclear in the er and we are still waiting for the surgeon
dont see long noun.
{{{uu and frank}}}
Hello, Annie, Scrabbler, etc.

Well done, jmc. You're getting the hang of babble nicely.
and i think i will go off and do something else. . . maybe even something productive. . . before my meeting
Babble not productive? I'm shocked.
haha haz it only took what?. . . 4 years
well that depends on what you want to produce haz
True. I've still not found a way to earn money from this.
it has been productive in friends and ideas and support for me and my work. . . but not actual work :-)
clue for the10 please
only person that earns money at this is dr god and i suspect even he is not getting rich from it

Aw, I love getting mail that is not bills. Thanks. : )
Hiya Kate :-)
oooo, a surprise!!! : O
hello all - drizzly here and have cat insisting on sitting under desk lamp for warmth and demanding attention - much purring
Hi Ursh
Hey Ursh. My discontented cat is prowling. Enjoy the purring!
Kate, four of the go words have to do with a thyroid word. Google "thyroid go" and you will find it. American and British spellings here.
oh he has been prowling so muddy footprints all over desk
my cat is sleeping on my (our) chair
almost estrogen
a cat earlier decided to join the chog, but no one could understand what he wrote ;)
i dunno what my cats are doing cause i ain't home with
??
...with them yet
?? To the estrogen comment
phantom in the grid
she feels that we are close to having the word estrogen
we do have a related hormone, es6/18
I have no cats (and like it that way) so they aren't doing anything.
yay! Hurshy gets me!
Oh heck!! I come on Babble to get away from hormones! They're feckin' following me......
sorry Soods

must dash, see you all on tuesday. happy turkey dat to all!
Sounds like a personality disorder to me, Hursh. : D
:P
Is it turkey day in Canada?
i thought it was the third thursday of oct in canada
Do anyone but the Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving in October?
Don't worry, Hursh, I do the same thing.
No, first Monday
lol Molly
i WISH we did, when the leaves are all pretty, it would make so much more sense
And when I travel, I blend right in.
these are the two things i ask of congress: move thanksgiving to october, and eliminate daylight savings time.
saving
i've given up on asking them to do anything of substance.
I like those ideas.
me too
It will never happen in the US and for one reason. Football.
football season encompasses both october and november so i think they could manage.
<----hates football and anything related to it.
second Monday
Hi Diane
Me too. My job calls for me to talk to people from all walks of life. I find myself adjusting my accent/vocab as the need arises.
47 left, bbs
Hi hego.... :-) just call me lurker... waiting for son and family to arrive...playing a few words
Y'all are scaring me with the "change your accent" stuff.
Big grid, for a day in which I've little time to play !
If I am in Ireland for i hour I would sound just like Soodle.
1 hour
Why?
don't know, just happens.
i'm not good at accents
Arra, sure, begob n begorrah, whenever I talk to the good people in the US, I'm inclined to do a 'Barry FitzGerald in The Quiet Man' impersonation.

Wehave been getting news reports here about a misfortunate farmer in Oregon who was apparently eaten by his pigs. Which is utterly tragic. But, seemingly the pigs were in excess of 700lbs??????? 50 stones????irish pigs are dainty & sylph-like in comparison!

But.... Seriously, has anybody on here ever seen a pig that size?
ive seen 500 lbs at the state fair in iowa
I have. Boars can run 700-800 lbs easy.
Soodle is used to the wee piggies that run races and fit nicely on a spit. : P
bye Buggie
lol molly
Well.... Yeah! Pigs here are .......... Manageable sizes!
Well, I think anytime you are raising animals that outweigh you times two, you are in for some trouble.
why would redbox email me saying i have balance due and when i go look it says your due balance is $0.00. Please pay now.
Um...because they are idiots?
i am back!
lol ah thats right
Give them what they are asking for, Cos.... 0.00
you better pay
right Soodle. lol
lol.. and how can i do that? my card won't process that
please put value of 0.01 or more
I can do better than that. Last month I had a credit card call me for charges on a closed account. Late charges that THEY had added to a zero balance, closed account.
lol wow
I've had that lots of times, Molly
speaking of annoying company practices, i hate when you give a company feedback and they seem to feel that as long as they give you A reply, it doesn't really matter if they read what you said or think about it in any way or have the reply be relevant.
Hursh is home!
yep and that means marty is happy!
help with tr's please
Well, of course we all know that credit card companies have nothing but their customer's best interests at heart. NOT

Sadly, she lost the weight and married him.
eeewww
Some people are sick and get into the whole control thing.
is this one of those times when all you can say is, "i guess it takes all kinds to make a world"
Hmmm. A fair and equitable partnership was formed nt that marriage, then?
It's one of those times my Gran would have said "God bless the mark".
the mark?
Refers to the mark of Cain (Biblical) and people who are obviously "outside the sphere of normal".
ah
i think derring should count. you know, feats of derring do. maybe it's derring-do and that's the problem.

thursday they had a big vaccine drive - barbecue out back behind the VA overlooking the ocean, stand in line, get your shot, get free food and sunshine
come on up to NH and you can inject me red
not bad
hello everyone

I want employees. only employees.
hi kje....that really only on for a few minutes
the barbecue was employees
OK, really GN all.
I am just going to go to my local pharmacy for my flu shot...across from where I work so dont have to go across town to my doctor
yes I am sure, I want RIver to be vaccinated, but I want employees.
that sounds good, river
I get one every year but have no appointments with my doc coming up so will just go to Rite Aid...they do them too with our insurance so no cost to me
Hello Riverdance! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
I get it every year also... have to, but would anyway
Hi Min and hello and thanks
After putting my no 4/4 into the grid, I was able to find 200 words with ea4/4. Then I became de 5/12 and had to use list to get 65 more words. Knowing it would take eo 4/4 to finally be do 4/5 with grid, I gave up. Do 4/5 anyone want me to le 4/5 a hand with a story? I will be a wr 6/30 and wr 5/18 a story of clues anyway. I did my in6/18ship or student teaching at Wheeler School which is in the ea7/28 part of the country. After graduating, I looked for a job. I knew being as 6/18ive in interviews would be an as5/10 if I wanted to get a job.I also knew that I had to dr 4/5 up pretty so I dr 5/12 myself up for every interview. Even though I was always nervous, I gr 4/6ned a lot to hide my nervousne4/4. Took me eo4/4 to get a job. Every rejection letter that I got ir 4/5 me. I would think to myself, well that's their lo4/4 if they do not hire me. I felt like a total lo 5/10 because I couldn't get a job. I would take many sw 4/10s of beer to drown my sorrows. I almost lo 4/4 it and gave up on teaching, but I finally got a job on the ea 4/4 coast during the wi 6/30 time.It was a leave replacement job, but I knew it would be wi 4/8 of me to take the job so I did. It was a good thing I did. That job turned into a permanent job. I was happy to jo4/9 the great teaching team at Martin Luther King School. Although my Principal is an og4/6, I like the re 4/4 of the teachers. Most of the teachers are ol5/12 than I am and have many years of experience so I learn a lot from them. Even though I make way le 4/4 money as a teacher than other professions, I don't care. I need to surre4/5 computer to hubby before things get te 5/10. I am going to si 4/6 off. I hope my clues made se 5/10 to you and you could in 6/18 some more words into your list.I'm off to watch TV before I reti4/4 for the re4/4 of the ni4/4. Ni 6/18 all! I will see you tomorrow
this one didn't hurt at all... usually my arm is sore for a day
ok, must run... off to have a margarita or two

I give only preservative free, but damn it I have to go to bed...I have a new coach and he is killing me and this was an easy week...

hi Jilly. thanks for the soup!
oops, thank you Molly for the soup!
i saw Jilly's bacon comment and drifted...
LOL...how are you dawg?
Jilly, what does "moderately ill" mean? it was on the form i had to fill out to get my flu shot.
As a side effect or as in should not get the shot?
the form asked if i was currently moderately or seriously ill. compared to the plague? i've got a croupy cough but otherwise i'm fine. so i got the shot.
You can get flu like symptoms with a flu shot. As for it being a contraindication, it would mean a fever &/or being ill enough not to go to work.
oh okay. i was just wondering if i might have lied on the form, since i marked it NO. nurse didn't ask one way or the other.
Clue for the last se7/28?
