wow that is hot! maybe we get two weeks of oppressive heat (and not in a row)

2:54 am

ah, thanx mar. i can keep other babblers in touch with your progress. sweetie, are you in much pain?

2:54 am

but I'd rather be hot with no snow than cold with snow

2:55 am

my def of hot in MN was....85=pretty warm...90=hot...95=really hot...hardly ever got over 100

2:55 am

we had at least 3 days each year up to 111....and it wasn't a real dry heat like phoenix or vegas

2:55 am

not really....I was in terrible pain but I've had radiation treatments that have helped me so much

2:57 am

Well it was so nice to see you Granny and Dart....but I must go. Will certainly try to come back soon

3:00 am

thanks for you wishes Dart and Granny...take care, be well and see you soon

3:01 am

bye just

3:02 am

my heart breaks with every diagnosis of cancer. it's such a non-discriminatory disease. i wish it could be just wiped out totally.

3:03 am

i agree....just1 used to play every night back when i started.....haven't seen her for a long time

3:04 am

she was still in my friends list...just happened to glance and saw she was on

3:08 am

so many brave people face that diagnosis everyday. and yet i am still here...no longer smoking it is tr4....but other people so much younger than i snatched in their prime...i can't understand it. by all rights, i should have carked it years ago.

3:10 am

i'm not how she got her cancer...but to me it is so sad to see young people nowadays smoke...it is so hard to quit and it is so bad for you and everyone nearby too....but all the young folks think it is cool...i know when i was dating it was a real turnoff to me, a deal-breaker basically

3:11 am

probably beacause my dad did until he was about 65...he quit then

3:13 am

:), yet in my younger days it was THE thing. nowadays, with all the information available to the young folk, why do they st5? i have 3 sons. 1 has never smoked, 1 has stopped completely, the other, the youngest, has at least stopped the manufactured cigarettes, and uses roll your owns.

3:15 am

anyone my parent age and slightly younger is off the hook...they didn'tknow how bad it was.....anyone my age knew and the people nowadays really know how bad it is.......we went to that "Bodies" exhibit that went around....they had a lung sliced open from non-smokers..right next to smokers...don't know how the smokers could breathe...it was gross..totally black and tarry

3:20 am

*giggle* i know what you mean. but you know what, dart? i had the "i'm invincible syndrome'. so prevalent among the teens and early 20-somethings. and being a nurse did not affect my reasoning at all. it was going to happen to someone else, not me.

3:21 am

i think that age group has that syndrome for everything...texting while driving...smoking....skateboarding....\nlots of dumb things that can really backfire...but not to them

3:21 am

nowadays, i just tell the youngsters how hard it is to stop. i cannot stop them from smoking, but i am certainly there to help them quit.

3:23 am

gal at club...said "I was texting while driving and blew a tire because I hit the curb"....i said..."what if someone was walking there...you might be in jail and they might be dead, could you live with that?"...she said"I'll probably keep on doing it.....don't get that reasoning

3:24 am

fw

3:26 am

neither do i, dart. over here, it is an on-the-spot fine and demerit points if you are caught texting while driving. as a matter of fact, if you must answer the mobile phone while driving, not only do you have to pull over, but the keys must be removed from the ignition.

3:26 am

WTG DART!!!! sans list?

3:27 am

it is a fine here too...doesn't stop the young ones....wish they would ban the phone too..that can be just as bad...they go ballistic over drunks killing people....and they have done studies that show phone-talkers are worse drivers than drunks!

3:27 am

yep..no list but a lot of morewords

3:28 am

well done, dart.

3:28 am

and almost 3.5 hrs ouch

3:28 am

perhaps the fines need to be larger?

3:29 am

or the penalties harsher? like loss of license?

3:29 am

i think if you kill or maim someone because you are on cellphone...they should throw you in jail...and publicize it so others see that it could happen to them too

3:30 am

so totally agree...surely it is akin to manslaughter?

3:30 am

wont stop them if it is just a fine

3:31 am

your first duty when you get behind the wheel is to drive...too many people put that about 3rd on the list behind phone etc

3:32 am

well, are our driving instructors behind the times, then? not making the impact they should.

3:33 am

i was hit by someone going about 50 mph from behind...don't know of he was doing anything like that(2000)...but he said he didn't see me...first he knew i was there is when he hit me and the airbag hit him in the face....if i hadn't seen him right before the accident....i might not be here now

3:34 am

good grief...and how old was this person?

3:34 am

i was making a left turn and the road was not straight...so he had to look somewhat just to keep the car on the road....don't know why he didn't see me though...totaled both cars

3:34 am

he was 21...in a brand new car

3:35 am

had it 2 weeks

3:35 am

Hello Rose & Da** and anyone else around

3:35 am

hey lynxx

3:36 am

*shaking head* i always taught my boys that everyone else on the road was an idiot, including their mother.

3:36 am

hey lyn

3:37 am

now i hate tail-gaters

3:37 am

et

3:38 am

point was made when one day i was driving. had pulled up at a red light, was waiting for green arrow to turn, when green arrow appeared, i first checked my right, then left, then rigt(reverse for yoyu) and a car came through on the red light. if i had moved off on the green arrow, probably wouldn't be here now.

3:39 am

we have the NASCAR syndrome here...everyone on the freeway likes to drive about one car-length behind the car in front, while they are going 65 mph...that way if something weird happens, we have 20 car pile-ups

3:39 am

running reds is bad here too

3:41 am

except on nascar track..all drivers are pros...cars are well maintained....you dont' have deer/racoons/skunks and other bad drivers doing weird things on the raodway

3:41 am

lol, so true. here we have a sticker which says..' stay away from me for 5 seconds'.

3:42 am

we have a lot of red light cameras here especially on notorious spots, I do think it has cut down on the red light running

3:42 am

they have talked about doing that here

3:42 am

red light camera? what is the proper term Rose?

3:44 am

almost 4am...gonna run...nite rose and lynxx

3:45 am

3:45 am

up the stairs lol

3:45 am

poooof

3:45 am

OK wasn't sure. Thought you might be a midnight jogger or something. Sleep tight

3:47 am

night, dart. sleep well, mate

3:48 am

red light camera is correct, lyn

3:48 am

hello?

3:48 am

lol, it just seemed to wrong when I wrote it...its been a longish day

3:49 am

Helloooo

3:49 am

yay, lynxx and rose are here!!!!!

3:49 am

same here, hun. have been up since 6:15am.

3:49 am

ooohhh. {{{{ruby}}}}

3:50 am

6.30 here. managed to have some lunch at 5.00pm. Now working on appetite to make some dinner for myself...don't think it is going to happen

3:50 am

had hydro this AM, then had DH into hospital for minor surgery.

3:50 am

I've been invited to a big family party in London in mid-December and am afraid to tell Burt. I've spoken to the housekeeper who would come in on the weekend to help out, but he will have a fit when I tell/ask him.

3:50 am

I really could use a trip

3:51 am

I hope he is OK, Rose

3:51 am

ease

3:51 am

he's OK?

3:51 am

sorry

3:51 am

my Ruby got locked into the studio overnight and basically destroyed the door to the garden

3:52 am

Hope you can work something out Rose...we all know you could do with a break

3:52 am

she'll probably never trust me again!

3:52 am

poor girl

3:53 am

it seems yours truly is a pretty good diagnostician. look-see by surgeon confirmed my diagnosis. he has burnt his oesophagus AND his vocal chords with gastric reflux. i hyave been on his case for years to increase his dose of medication .

3:54 am

had he cut down on his dose himself?

3:54 am

burnt? so it will self-repair though when he gets the gastric reflux under cntrol?

3:55 am

no, lyn. he never did inform the GP of his issiues, and hence did not have the meds increased as they should.

3:55 am

men - they are always silly little boys

3:56 am

i do so hope so, lyn. *shakes head* but then again i am only a nurse with 40 years experience. lol

3:57 am

which medication does he take? Nexium? There is a new one here, OTC, made by Bayer, but it's less effective. I used to take Prevacid, but when it went off patent, it was no longer available.

3:57 am

doorbell and dogs went crazy!

3:58 am

I didn't realize that esophagus could get burned

3:58 am

yes , ruby...or does now, lol. esomaprazole comes in 20mgs or 40mgs. he is now on 40 mgs.

3:59 am

40 mg does the trick, 20, not so well

4:00 am

I didn't think I was going silly, dragged out my wool jumper and put the heater on tonight...its only 11o

4:02 am

himself needs his apero. He's unusually cross this AM hahah

4:03 am

he's going to be crosser when you mention that you have received the invitation...then again he may become very sweet

4:04 am

go for it, ruby...give him a double.

4:06 am

aha incinerated widows

4:08 am

lyn, how are you going with the 8's and 9's? need a hand?

4:09 am

I am going very slowly (there is really 314 here!) but I need to wind down my head a bit and Babble is good for that

4:10 am

okay, hun. happy babbling. think i will turn in for the night.

4:11 am

Sweet dreams Rose

4:11 am

night, lyn. you too, sweetie

5:12 am

just drizzly november

5:17 am

When it get cold here it really feels cold because of being surrounded by water. Also most apartment don't have heat.

and crossy, we are going to show up on your doorstep once Frank gets through chemo!

5:51 am

tell frank i will have a crossy breakfast waiting for him

5:51 am

will do :-)

5:51 am

if they can add atavan to his chemo, he'll be less sick

5:52 am

they don't usually suggest if, but it makes a big difference!

5:52 am

i also got anti-nausea meds via i.v during chemo treatments

5:53 am

we'll talk to them about that - chemo in 3 weeks probably, got to get through the surgery first

5:53 am

my consulting doctor in Boston suggested it and I shopped it around until I found someone who would give it to me.

5:53 am

my consulting doctor in Boston suggested it and I shopped it around until I found someone who would give it to me.

5:53 am

I had very strong chemo, but was never sick

5:53 am

small bag of anti-nausea took 15 min, large bag og chemo(cisplatin) took 2-4 hours

5:53 am

i was sick as a dog

5:54 am

crossy, Frank likes wolves, and I found one for him - a picture of a snarling wolf and around it, it says "The doctors call it cancer - I call it a challenge!"

5:54 am

the atavan did the trick for me; I just couldn't drink gin through the whole chemo thing.....

5:54 am

I'm going to print one up and hang it in his hospital room

5:54 am

being on universal health care,i did not have to shop it around,i just was offered it thank god

5:55 am

very good suze! i like it! i am also a wolf person

5:55 am

yes, I figured that out, crossy :-)

5:55 am

I had to pay for mine, but it was worth it!

5:56 am

tel;l frank we share the same totem then and it is very strong against cancer

5:56 am

will do. He'll like that.

5:56 am

That is a great, positive image Sue. That helps a lot.

5:57 am

three different people from my UU fellowship have said they will come sit with me while he is in surgery - I am overwhelmed with kindness...

5:57 am

Sue, sending positive thoughts to you and Frank today. Will be thinking of both of you

5:58 am

we will be there in spirit, sue

5:58 am

thanks, peri!

5:58 am

ok, I am going to go snuggle up with him a bit - we have to leave in a couple of hours - bbl - love to you all!

5:58 am

That is great Sue. Just having someone sitting beside you is a comforting presence.

7:15 am

How much weight have you lost?

7:15 am

Good morning!

7:15 am

Hey Car

7:16 am

Hi Scrabs!

7:16 am

tbh scrabby i lost 11 pounds the first month, but now the diet has gone by the wayside with strokes, cancer and deaths in the family.loosing a few pounds has dropped down on the list for now

7:16 am

car!

7:16 am

Hi Crossy!

7:16 am

Morning, car.

7:17 am

I didn't know about the family issues. *sad*

7:17 am

my elegant lost her mum suddenly last month on the 25th

7:17 am

Hi BzznBea!

7:18 am

and her brother had a stroke and they found stage 3 lung cancer in him as well

7:18 am

funny thing is,without the stroke the lung cancer would of remained unfound

7:18 am

Oh, no! So sad. That was my parents' 54th anniversary, the first without my Dad. ((Elegant))

7:18 am

Oh, no!

7:19 am

So much to grasp!

7:19 am

they found the cancer when he was getting tests in the stroke clinic

7:19 am

it is a pile at once to be sure as now my elegant is suddenly the executor as her brother is now unable

7:20 am

Sometimes diagnoses are made in surprising ways.

7:20 am

indeed

7:21 am

and now for crossy,s tidbit of the day!

7:21 am

Send Elegant my love, peace and strength. Grief is so tough, especially early on. April + May were blurs for me, I was in a daze.

7:21 am

In Paris, there are more dogs than there are children, and they seem to be treated with equal amounts of pampering. Collectively, Parisians spend nearly $500,000 every day on health and grooming for their pets.

7:21 am

TY for that tidbit.

7:21 am

She can resign as executrix.

7:22 am

indeed i will scrabs, she has not really had time to grieve yet with all the executor duites suddenly thrust upon her.i help as i can as like i said before i am her staff to lean on and she is my rock when i falter.we will endure

7:22 am

she can,but there is no one else to take over

7:23 am

her other brother has a brain injury from a car crash 20 years ago

7:23 am

The court can appoint someone

7:23 am

i will help her through this

7:23 am

yes they could, but may as well just hand the estate over in cheque form

7:23 am

My father died Apr 4 so I quickly had to find tax info, do tax calculations, file an extension but still pay the taxes on time.

7:24 am

that is on my list scrabbs tax info for 2011

7:24 am

bus...brb...

7:24 am

and a final will have to be done in 2012

7:25 am

for 2012*

7:25 am

But I did extension for states taxes, thinking I also did federal, so I am in deep sh*t right now with mother and sister as we clean up the mess.

7:25 am

the executor is entitled to be paid

7:25 am

first it has to go to probate

7:25 am

and that is 2-5 months the lawyer tells me

7:26 am

I filed state and federal Oct 3, prior to extension date, but I didn't do federal extension as I thought....

7:26 am

the govt makes it tough indeed

7:26 am

seems they also get 1.6% of the estate

7:26 am

When practiced I did many probates....

7:27 am

it is a long wait here br

7:27 am

though she has seen some come back in a little as 3 weeks

7:27 am

So much extra work and worry

7:28 am

generally finished in under six months

7:29 am

well even worse is whe her brother had the stroke he was executor, but then his wife got all signing athority over him during his illness, and that can include executor of the will,so there are a ton of forms fer her to send and sign

7:29 am

notarila copies of poa etc

7:29 am

notarial

7:30 am

and on it goes

7:31 am

she is basically living at the hospital with her husband and ov cannot do my wifes mothers estate as well

7:31 am

How bad was his stroke?

7:31 am

all she has to do is use her authority to resign

7:31 am

entire right side scrabbs, heavy facial drooping, monosylabic responses and almost no short term memory

7:32 am

that is where we are now br

7:32 am

it is second last on my to do list

7:32 am

then the lawyer can ship it all off for probate

7:33 am

investments to liquidate..sigh

7:33 am

opened up an estate bank acct

7:33 am

and all the while 3 sibling hover over it all like vultures watching our every move

7:34 am

ok,enough of this

7:34 am

time to find some words

7:35 am

Well, ask for help, Crossy, with all of your decisions. My lawyer sister has worked on so much since my father died, but I messed up the taxes.

7:41 am

morning guys. anyone have a clue for the impossible di8?

7:42 am

Hello again! Nippy but sunny outside! Love it!

7:42 am

Kudos to me today! We have a bathroom that has not been used for about 15 years above the bathroom that is being redone for my mom. I insisted that they check it all out before putting up the new ceiling...and guess what?!??! It is leaking all over the place! Good Call Construction Girl!

7:49 am

7:49 am

Yikes. What a mess.

7:50 am

Ty scrabs!

7:50 am

Nice call, car.

7:50 am

It would have been so much worse if they got all the new construction done and then it leaked on that.

clue

7:56 am

Morning all

7:56 am

howdy smores

7:56 am

We are using it for storage right now but it is not being used otherwise. The set up of this house is very odd. It used to be a barn with a house directly in front of it. Then they added a middle room to connect the two and turned the whole thing into a house. The room that is not being used, my bedroom as a child, is the old hayloft of the barn. it is awesome in that it is open and big and has a toilet and sink. It is not being used as there is no HEAT to that upstairs and no air circulation in the summer. Also, the boys are still very young to be in the front part of the house, where there are 2 bedrooms, to be that far away from us at night.

7:56 am

Hi smores!

7:56 am

Evening Peri :)

7:56 am

Hi godthaab!

7:57 am

interesting layout indeed car

7:57 am

Hi car.

7:58 am

A long house with not a level floor.

7:58 am

i love the old homes, they have character

7:58 am

It sounds like a really neat home, Car.

7:58 am

and dorrs that stick and other that jam

7:59 am

and ones that will not close

7:59 am

I once thought the same thing, crossy. But living in one that was built in 1890 is a never ending repair job.

7:59 am

and the dog learns that if he drops the ball just so,it will roll right to your chair

8:00 am

we had a victorian years ago and yes, they can be money pits

8:00 am

help with either st8 pls

8:00 am

did not like the brass power outlets in the floors!!

8:01 am

and the old turn knobs for light switches

8:01 am

and the 100 skeleton keys for every single door in the place

8:01 am

The house has a lot of character, but it drives me nuts at the same time.

8:01 am

and the tiny bedrooms

8:01 am

and the scary kitchen stairways to the upper floors

8:02 am

Ours was rewired sometime in the 80's, but it still has a lot of knob and post. And they ran the wiring on the outside of the siding.

8:02 am

one st 8 means striped, don't have the other one

8:02 am

yup

8:02 am

Bedrooms are really all a good size...they just have eaves so you lose a lot of space.

8:02 am

i call it barn wiring

8:02 am

TY jeff!

8:02 am

yw

8:03 am

Also, we will have to redo the wiring in that upper level barn if we move our bedroom up there.

8:03 am

ty Jeff, looking

8:03 am

All of our rooms are 14x14.

8:04 am

well, sounds like the family has room to grow into at least

8:04 am

ty Jeff, got it

8:05 am

ty jeff found it

8:05 am

Found all the vowel words. Tiem for a break. *poof*

8:05 am

there is an st8/9 but I do not see them

8:05 am

crossy hates vowel words

chemical, peri, used in candles

8:06 am

Ty Shallow

8:06 am

ok, I don't know many chemical words, looking

and then dabble with endings for st 7/8/9

8:07 am

Good morning, all. Can't stay long. Have to transcribe an interview. BORRRRING.

8:08 am

Hi Judi!

8:08 am

OK...so there are 2 ST 8 and 9's then?

8:08 am

ty got them

3 st8 1 st9

8:09 am

OK...

the st9 is a st8/9 combo with an st7 relative

8:10 am

And it is similar to the other st 8?

no

8:10 am

Gak. So confused.

8:10 am

found them - thanks

well the ending is similar to one of the st8s

8:10 am

I will work on it.

havent got the other one myself

8:11 am

Utterly confused now. Brain needs a break.

8:11 am

Just for the record...I have an st 5, 6, 7 and 8 that all have to do with "striping" of sorts.

8:12 am

Me too Scrabs! It hurts!

the ending of that 7/8 is the same as of the 8/9. the last st8 im llooking for myself

8:14 am

Off to transcribe. Later, kids. *POOF*

8:15 am

got them if you would like a clue

8:15 am

Bye!

8:15 am

bye judi - enjoy your day :)

8:15 am

Yes please.

found the 3rd one grammatical babblet of sorts for remain

8:16 am

1st st8 extends from the st5 b4 it - add the most ending

8:16 am

crap...just found the -est ending.

8:16 am

lol...that would be the one

thats the right direction

8:17 am

I still have no idea what you are talking about. Which st 5?!?!?!

8:17 am

st8/9,7

8:17 am

I am overwhelmed and getting frustrated. I am sorry. Time for a break.

8:17 am

the 1st one

8:17 am

the 1st one

8:18 am

Well I have no idea which one is the first one, so I am going to take break.

8:18 am

hiccuping

8:18 am

sorry car :(

8:19 am

It is not you...my brain gets bogged down very easily these days.

9:27 am

9:29 am

where are you from?

germany, live in berlin

9:30 am

we had one but only 4 channels

9:30 am

I applaud the Babblers who do not have English as a first language.

9:31 am

we has a set in the early 70s,on a big tower ariel there was only 3 channels, but there seemed to be more quality shows to watch then than now:(

9:31 am

lol...crossy

true but maybe we just didnt watch as much ...

9:31 am

my kids think I was so deprived

9:32 am

we had 3 channels usa but one canadian also

9:32 am

our local station cfto in toronto and wkbw out of buffalo when the conditions were right

9:32 am

We New York area people are so jaded. We had 7 channels by 1950.

9:33 am

sometime in 70's we got up to 7 but 2 rarely came in

9:33 am

But that was it until cable

i remeber just 3 channels, and broadcasts didnt start until late afternoon - kid's progreammes at 4.30 until 5

9:34 am

50 left...taking a break...bbl

9:34 am

9:38 am

i got that radio for my 11th birthday

10:53 am

ti5 pl ti4

10:54 am

ti5/10..small crown

10:54 am

Which one or two? I find Costner a very marginal actor.

10:55 am

if you do not care for the actor, there is no sense in bothering of course

10:55 am

I don't remember the name of the movie .. but he played an alcoholic retired baseball player in the movie.. that was pretty goo

10:55 am

he was really solid in that one

10:55 am

I feel that way about Julia Roberts--not authentic

10:55 am

same scrabby

10:56 am

he was also pretty good in Bull Durham

10:56 am

10:58 am

Julia Roberts is always Julia Roberts. She is the same in every movie.

10:59 am

Yep

10:59 am

beth

10:59 am

je concur.. she's boring

10:59 am

Free Word Friday!

10:59 am

I am always amused at how often "it was his best role" is said about an actor playing an alcoholic.

10:59 am

Haha

11:00 am

Must be all the drama involved. : )

11:00 am

maybe theres deep background knowledge involved

11:00 am

well the academy awards mostly go to female actresses who play drunk hookers.. what does that tell you

11:01 am

about the committee giving the awards?

11:02 am

i guess also deep background knowledge ;)

11:02 am

Personally I think one of Meg Ryan's best roles is in When A Man Loves A Woman. A movie that is very painful for any child of an alcoholic to watch. Especially kids of alcoholic mothers.

11:03 am

I've never seen that movie

11:04 am

neither have i

11:05 am

I always think of her as a bubble head actress

11:05 am

2:04 pm

Morning all

2:04 pm

da6 for the bottom d jmc

2:04 pm

ty ty

2:04 pm

and ty

2:05 pm

hi lynxxx and movie

2:05 pm

I was told the other day, that enema is a Babblet because a Babblet is a word not used in everyday conversation. The only definition of Babblet I have ever seen is "words only seen in Babble".

2:05 pm

hi lynn and MM

au6 anyone? is it a babblet?

2:05 pm

that person was obviously never a nurse. lol

2:05 pm

au+rank

2:06 pm

goodness enema is not at all obscure!

2:06 pm

Funny you should say that Hego because there was a nurse around at the time who said "I'm a nurse, and I don't use it in everyday conversation." I think of Babblets as words like inia, nene, etc.

enema and an ancient egyptian unit of capacity is a bit of a difference in rareness of usage i'd say

2:06 pm

and i would argue that altough i LOVE using zarf in conversation it is still a babblet

pb, molly

2:07 pm

takes all kinds to make Babble, Molly.

2:07 pm

crossy si back! how the zarf is everyone? lol:))

zarf?

2:07 pm

Zarf = Babblet, yes. Enema = Babblet, not quite.

2:07 pm

I agree Molly.

2:07 pm

still don't see how letters of the hebrew alphabet can be part of an english dictionary! -- they are babblets as far as I am concerned

2:08 pm

And you're right Hego. All kinds and then some.

2:08 pm

i learned zarf in babble land . .. it has two definitions

2:08 pm

Hi Nan.

2:08 pm

hehe, though it was good timing to pop in just then;)

2:08 pm

Nan, how are the French, German, Scottish, etc. all parts of an English dictionary?

2:09 pm

lol Crossy

2:09 pm

french and german, I agree -- scots is an English dialect

2:09 pm

one is the holder of a glass cup with out a handle and the other is an ugle and repellant male

2:09 pm

hahahahhahahahhahahahhaha

2:09 pm

*don't think gaelic should be part of it either!

2:10 pm

*ugly

2:10 pm

little babblets in your clothing, little babblets in your hair,if you look twice you,ll find those babblets everywhere...

2:10 pm

but nan, it;s just how you say hebrew letters in english

2:10 pm

oddly enough spanish is rarely in accepted in the grid

2:10 pm

por favor!

2:10 pm

but hebrew is still a foreign language

2:10 pm

make my cojones crawl hehe

2:11 pm

but how else would you say, in eglish, the name of a hebrew letter?

2:11 pm

greek's in there too, alpha, beta, etc

2:11 pm

Well, as is ALWAYS pointed out, Enable is a word list, not a dictionary.

2:11 pm

Hi all

2:11 pm

Crossy is making anatomical references!

2:11 pm

is not enable wonderous?

2:11 pm

whereas I think spanish is too often accepted...I never know them. now shall we start on how American spellings of english words are accepted?

2:11 pm

howdy boo

2:12 pm

ahh yes..american english

2:12 pm

hi Boo!

2:12 pm

How is everyone

2:12 pm

american and british spellings!

2:12 pm

I can live with that - American English is also a dialect

2:12 pm

:-P

2:14 pm

personally i have gotten to where i never know if it is grey or gray

2:14 pm

lol, speaking bronx though your nose is a dialect, american english on the other hand i believe is a attempt to save on ink-jet cartridges

2:14 pm

hehe

2:14 pm

I say that all these words make for interesting grids - who wants it simple, we would lose interest very quickly

2:14 pm

lol Cross

2:14 pm

indeed

2:14 pm

clue for da6 please

2:15 pm

never mind

5:27 pm

cleaner, too

5:27 pm

i don't have it cosdem

5:28 pm

it ends with most of ending

5:29 pm

according to the fire institute I went to today, the are not crazy about them....have more problems with them compared to wood stoves....

5:29 pm

just past halfway (155 left) and I am leaving for now - might come back later.

5:30 pm

I used to have a Mama Bear and it was the best I ever had.

5:30 pm

if you lose power you lose your stove....as it needs to run with a fan...pellets break down with humidity and just movement of them.....the dust caused by the breakdown will clog your stove and it will not run efficiently and may eventually cause a fire. It need special venting that a wood stove does not need

5:31 pm

I knew nothing about them until I went to the seminar...I have a wood stove and love it....after hearing what I heard today, I will never have a pellet stove..

5:32 pm

ooohhhh.....river, that is very interesting and thank you. I was actually contemplating one upstairs but no longer. Thanks for the info - greatly appreciated. See, that seminar turned out well for me, anyway!

5:33 pm

its more because a lot of folks improperly vent them...they need air flow to work properly...and all pellets dont necessarily will work in the stove your purchase. We saw a couple stoves today that caused fires...it was scary!

5:34 pm

we had a wood stove for many years, burned discarded pallets for heat.. only problem = air pollution from the chimney

5:34 pm

they also showed us some real red-neck set ups for chimneys...although comical it was sad how folks take the chances they do

5:35 pm

It's unfortunate how many people buy things and then don't learn how to use them properly. The result? Labels like the one on powdered infant formula that say: Add water before feeding.

5:35 pm

the 2nd ta5please

5:35 pm

Riteway woodstove..

5:35 pm

we burn pallets for sugaring but not in the wood stove. We have an iron arch with an evaporator for making maple syrup....that can handle the pallets just fine but we wouldn't think of using them in our wood stove...be careful Aloy!

5:36 pm

what you get in the sun plus "** be or not to be"

5:36 pm

thanks aloy that finishes the Ts

5:36 pm

thanks for that T Aloy

5:37 pm

wood stove is gone now, River.. we had to buy a new furnace and needed to remove it; btw, we did have two scary chimney fires!

5:38 pm

and.. your comment on sugaring made me laugh.. we tapped our trees and made the syrup in the kitchen, ergo stripping the wallpaper and making one holy mess on the ceiling!

5:38 pm

We clean our chimney every year from top to bottom....lots of creosote builds up with a stove....and make sure you burn the stove right so it doesnt just smoke and smolder....we have been lucky so are...25 years and the chimney is still fine

5:39 pm

snort

5:39 pm

we ruined a stove that way be boiling over...never again

5:39 pm

Hi all, update in my profile and on Facebook

5:40 pm

we get to almost syrup in our sugar shack and then cook it to the right temp on a propane set up....when it is ready we then bring it in to keep at temp and bottle

5:40 pm

Sue how are you and how did the surgery go?

5:40 pm

Will look

5:41 pm

Thanks for the update Sue. I'm sorry you have to wait for more results. I'm very glad that you didn't wait any longer to get this treated.

5:42 pm

5:43 pm

Thank you all so much!!! He is sleeping right now, hope he can get some more rest.

5:44 pm

Make sure you get some rest too, Sue.

5:44 pm

all best wishes, Sue -- appreciate the update . . .

5:44 pm

read your post, usue.. keep the faith, both of you.. my sister went through a similar situation, transverse colon.. not pleasant, but now she is back at work and traveling the world and counting her blessings.. keep the faith.. was it transverse, ascending or descending?

5:45 pm

big hugs uusue..

5:45 pm

I will, Molly. Aloy, descending, I think, but some small intestine was caught in it too.

5:47 pm

i would advise against pellet stoves .the auger that feeds the pellets from the hopper to the stove needs power of course and is noisy.the pellets break down over time and they burn much like burning scrap softwood in your fireplace in that they build up immense amounts of creosote that you must be on top of at all times.they are more suited to a commercial or work shop atmosphere where it is a suplimentary source of heat where power loss is not expected and noise is not an issue and not in a livingroom as an emergency heat source during power failures.imho, you would be better off with a free standing napoleon stove with a 2 foot firebox and a thermal steel heat sink stove fan for emergency heat

5:47 pm

Sue, where is your son? Is he able to help you out through all this?

5:48 pm

He's taking care of the animals, Molly, and will be here a little later.

5:49 pm

He's been stopping by the house to talk to a frank all week too.

5:49 pm

That's great. I wasn't sure if he was still in the area or not.

5:50 pm

He's been quite helpful. And is a very sweet kid - you can ask Scrabbler, who's met him :-)

I'm sure he is, and I will take Mom's word for it. : )

9:28 pm

Quick hello from me - it's been a good day for me but not such a great one for one of my best friends, even though it was her 5th wedding anniversary (2nd marriage). However, now I've heard from her I can stop worrying quite so much.

9:29 pm

((((Jac))))

9:29 pm

Hi Jac

9:29 pm

With Molly in charge of clues, I doubt you need me for any.

9:29 pm

Hi Molly. How has your day been?

9:30 pm

Oh but you clue so much better than I do. Stick around. : )

9:30 pm

My day has been good, thanks. Glad yours just got better.

9:30 pm

I can't stick around for long, I've got a shopping list to do after some sleep, plus doing the shopping.

9:31 pm

Okay, but no sleeping while shopping.

9:31 pm

Molly - it did just get better. (Sort of.)

9:33 pm

I couldn't possibly sleep whilst shoipping, since I have to keep an eye on where the Other Half is wandering off to with the trolley (shopping cart). I keep threatening to buy one of those toddler handcuff things for him, and I will do if he doesn't stop his wanderings. Can't even ring his cell to see where he's got to in some supermarkets, since many of them have no signal.

9:35 pm

At least he's not heaving this, that and the other expensive thing in your cart.

9:35 pm

Is he not? No, since he's paying for it. lol

9:36 pm

I just don't like being marooned mid-shop with my arms full of stuff to put into the cart when he's wandered off with it.

9:37 pm

You need to cuff him then. : )

9:37 pm

I do!

9:38 pm

I'm off to bed now, Molly. Will leave you to clue, if anyone needs it. x

9:40 pm

Bye Jac

9:56 pm

evening folks

9:57 pm

hey jes

9:57 pm

how goes it, stid? Lucky enjoying the snow?

9:58 pm

no snow on this side of the mountains! :-) but COLD. down to the 20s F tonight.

9:59 pm

I am not looking forward to snow, will increase my drive times by rather a lot. WHEN I can get out the driveway.

9:59 pm

heh. been snowing here all day--puny snow with almost no accumulation, but snow nonetheless

9:59 pm

yes, the forecasters were taking great delight talking about your impending start of winter weather.

10:00 pm

heh

10:01 pm

I had such a lovely day, though it was cold it was sunny and dry, and the kids (4th grade) got to be outside every recess

10:01 pm

excellent :)

10:02 pm

yep. hard to argue with sunshine. :-)

10:02 pm

how's the clinic going? getting things sorted to a dull roar most days?

10:03 pm

heh. most days, things go wel

10:03 pm

well

10:04 pm

good to hear. and the amazing bruce?

10:04 pm

he's well. went to a doctor for chronic headaches this week, and got new drugs.

10:05 pm

today was his first day on the new meds and he seems happy with it - only needed to touch up with ibuprofen once, and he's been alternating ibuprofen and tylenol every 6 hours for months.

10:07 pm

oh, I hope he gets permanent relief! Headaches suck. I was so glad when I figured out the trigger that was giving me daily migraines last year...

10:07 pm

have you heard how uusue's frank is doing?

10:08 pm

i am happy they didn't find a tumor or something evil causing his headaches!

10:09 pm
