volley...do you remember just1mar from tangleword and he4?
I remember the name, but not much else.
I remember that name from here
she was on the other night and granny and I chatted with her a bit...she hasn't been on for about 2 yrs and I asked why...she said she was diagnosed a few yrs back with stage 4 lung cancer and given a few months to live....she's still going thru treatment
oh, how horrible, poor dear
Wow, she must have good docs and be a great fighter. How is she doing now?
she used to play he4 every night...lives in montreal
thank you for the 8 plus about 6 other words I found whilst looking for it!! please could I have a clue for the lower of the two Ds.
I think dh 5/14 d + where a ground hog lives... down his ....
so glad she made it back he4; what time of day / eve did she come in?
thank you - i would never have got that one.
de6, de + heavy metal
I think diz or une told me, yw
de5, de4/6 + sometimes vowel
she came in right after you left.....still having a hard time...she came over about the same time i did from tangle (when they shut the site down)
awww, I do remember her now...
i always called her justy...and westford westy lol
justmar1... maybe
yep
I hope she continues to come in.
mar are her real initials...kind of like mrp are hers too
If she is in Montreal, would she be the same time as we are now?
same time as you...not me
you are one hour behind me now?
237 am now he4

wish I weren't... would mean I had a normal sleep schedule :)
when I visit Toronto, I am seldom up at flip
me too volley
I'd never make the St. John's Flip
when i was in california for vacation..it was great...flip at 10 pm and you were usually done by midnight
he4 we flip at midnight and done by 2am...volley flips at 1am and usually done by 3am
That would be nice.
once in a while I finish at night, more often am working on it next day
you really are night owls
if i leave it for the next day...probably forget it and ruru would like that
yep... just don't want to keep my hubby awake with my tossing and turning... try to give him several hours of uninterrupted sleep
lol dart
well, I am off til the flip; have a nice rest all *poofing with hugs*
many times my wife goes to bed before 945 or 10 pm...i can't do that...so i give her a break from any snoring and she gets at least 4 hrs of good sleep
goodnight Dee, sweet sleep and thanks again for list
similar situations, dart. You are quite welcome, sweet flosey!

good morning all... or none ;)
and since internet is not valid, neither is chog
hi sprite, I'm slogging along
hi rbud :) Is it a tough one today?
not sure, haven't tr5 very hard yet. Starting to look back for Dee's lists in chog now.
but I have 143 with not too much effort so far.
ok :) I am still working on the dratted K. 3 left to find.
now one left
good morning
hi ruby :)
hiya, ruby! :)
{{sprite}}??
{{rbud}}
you two still here?
lol... what's with the question marks?
I have 20 minutes to myself
I just arrived. One K to go before I can start playing
I thought you might have left. I usually come into babble just after everybody has left
my Ruffino has a new trick. After hs walk, he pretends to be Ruby, acts very passive and gets into HER leash and then behave like her (well-behaved, docile) on her walk and Burt doesn't realize. Is that a smart dog or what?
yayyyyy! Ks killed.
awwwww
wow, he is a doggy genius!
I think it's a hoot!
skat
sorry :(
there she goes, talking trash :)
(smarter than his mom!)
took my dear old mom to the grand opening of a JoAnne's fabric store nearby today, wore her out. The place was crowded, knew it would be, but she wanted to get out of her little place for a bit, so off we went.
rbud is a good daughter
redate
it is better to feel worn out and satisfied, than relatively energised and frustrated, rbud. Good job!
she bought only 3 pieces of plastic canvas, I bought nothing (lines for material cutting were unreal) - so a 40 mile round trip for that, lol!
<-- can't play and chat bad nel
lol rbud. But it is really important to get out. I think you did a very lovely thing for your mum.
but you had time to talk in the car -- very valuable
she says she's too tired for church in the AM now, oops!
so... she can pray indoors. And say thank you God for my sweet daughter and a fun trip.
yes, it was nice. Though I heard the same worrisome story several times. (bank changed hands, she's worried about her money and direct payments going through)
they assured her nothing has changed, but she still frets. Ah, well.
ah I can imagine. Must be scary. Asks for a lot of patience, I bet, but I can imagine she worries.
she's 82 and about 4 ft 10 in tall, almost a foot shorter than me. Little old Ma. :)
aw sweet :) Quite a respectible age, rbud!
careful what you say about shorties! I used to be 5'1" -- not any more!
don't start... I am shrinking already and I am 'only' 46!
explain to me: oops is valid but eeks is not?
it was a big event, she's almost never out after dark, lol - told her I'd have to come take her around to see Christmas lights in a couple of weeks when they've put up more of them, she likes that.
oh yes :) You rock, rbud.
may I come along? that's something I miss in France. They don't do lights like in NY
the town's main street is already pretty well decorated, we looked that over tonight. They have all gotten together this year and put a string of the same color along the top of every single building on the street, pretty cool.
consider coming to the netherlands one year, ruby. It is amazing here in some places. Some villages here are all in lights, for kms on end.
that sounds lovely
all they do here is line the church steple with white lights and put up small starry displays on some of the lampposts
hmmm, son is back in the house, he's excited, going to be going off to the next state with a friend to a job and maybe a life, lol. I'll miss him, but he's 21, it's about time.
{{rbud}} with emptying nest....
oh wow. Good for him! Exciting and a bit lonely for you maybe *hug*
funny how I still think of him as a kid, and yet by that age I myself had been married, divorced, moved across the country a couple of times...
true. I was living on my own at 16, which is my son's age now.
see you later, kids, that was a quick 91 but no nbts or 8's
*poof*
bye ruby
night ruby! (((hugs)))
and if my son would say he would move out, I'd tell him he is definitely too young
it will be considerably quieter without him and his entourage around.
I can imagine. Will you miss that, enjoy it, or both?
these are different times, harder to find work and little cheap places to live like we could back then, or it seems that way to me.
yes, I think that is true for here as well
Oh, it'll be nice, but hopefully he'll stay in touch and visit often.
phone and mail and maybe FB or something like that... should work. Visiting from another state... maybe not that often?
Just want him to stay out of trouble! he seems to finally be settling down a bit - thank goodness.
from your mouth to God's ear, rbud
he and his dad were at odds for so many years, they've been getting along pretty well lately, so that's good.
and he went through a big drunk phase, and has decided it's not such a good thing, yay.
yay!
if he manages to make it to work every day, that alone will be a big thing, he's a terrible night owl like me. Maybe they have a late work shift, he'd do well with that.
sounds good
now if I could just get our daughter to get a job again... sigh... she'll be 25 in January and seems quite content back here at home.
but at least she and her boyfriend are quiet types!
sounds like it is high time for her to move out and start taking care of herself?
oh, she did, and had a job, but then their housemate left and they couldn't afford the place, so here they are. still. but they mostly stay upstairs out of our hair, lol.
:)
and she helps with Grandma often, too, which is nice. Taxies her around to the store and doctors' appointments, etc.
that is nice
Mom's the only grandparent left, my dad and husband's parents are all gone, so we all kind of keep a close eye on her.
might end up with her living here too, who knows?
that is so nice. Like old times. Several generations in one house. If you can... wow.
well, it would have been simpler if I hadn't had to move into the back room so we can redo the front bedroom. now our plans don't really include making it back into a bedroom again, we'll have to see how it all works out. Maybe the old kitchen could be her room for a while, once we move it into the next room.
long story, lol
I cannot find either Y. Are they obvious or not?
morning all
ya4 - big hairy beasts
hiya Glant :)
ye4 - like yi5 to give way but remove a letter
bottom one is ye4, not a word I'm familiar with, monkeyed it
ah! Thank you Glant for the ya.
hi Glant
and for the ye! Got them both now.
hi rbud
I still need 5 of those dratted K's, lol
i need 4 of the dratted Ks too
two start with ky, do you have those?
all mine are KE
and two start ka.
ah! one less. found a ka4, that makes two of those so far.
i have the ky & ka
one ke5/6 combo
that's one i'm missing
do you want a clue?
me, too
please
found it
k + border, rim. And past tense.

hello everyone

hello everyone
hi Annie Annie Annie :)
hi spritey, spritey, spritey :)
*grins* How are you today, Annie?
My car got seawater in it but I am able to drive it, steam comes out of the tailpipe so I am bringing the car to a mechanic. I hope it can be saved. Otherwise, I;m okay.
and how are you, dear sprite?
I am so glad! Was a bit worried about you. But someone on FB said you were ok.
*keeps fingers crossed for Annie's car*
I am ok. Therapy is very taxing atm, but rewarding, so that is a good thing. And my son is being very teenagerish, which is a bit of a problem. But otherwise, all is well here.
I was away for 16 days at my daughter's home..there are huge generators here supplying us with power. People keep saying this neighborhood looks like a war zone
it's great to have you back on Babble
very glad you were safely at your daughter's home then. Is your house ok?
Thank you so much, sprite, I missed Babble very much. Glad to be home and with my Babble friends.
you were missed!
My apartment is okay but there was 6 feet of seawater in the cellar where the transformers are and they are gone. So no electricity, water or heat without the generators.
sounds like an expensive thing to fix
The talk is if the wires and transformers have to replaced the cost is 5 million per building and there are 5 buildings. I shudder to think about it.
oh dear. That is massive!
The buildings are massive. 23 stories and 3 sections to a building. I find it overwhelming but I am not an engineer.
me neither. Wouldn't know where to start.
I walked down 24 flights of stairs in pitch dark with a flashlight.
omg... and you lived? ;) That is something.
Not only did I survive but I was carrying luggage (Bobby helped). We knew we would be gone a while.
how was it for Bobby? Lots of change and stress, could he handle it?
I feel grateful. Staten Island was devastated and parts of Long Island too. People lost everything.
how did you get out of the area? di someone pick you up?
*did
He took it well. He was with his sister, nephews and brother in law so he was okay. My daughter came and got us.
oh, that's good, I know the public transit was a mess.
that is wonderful.
I spent a day and a half without water, no hot or cold, no heat and no electricity. I said enough so I left. I was in a mandatory evacuation area. I was supposed to leave 3 days prior but I thought I could stick it out but I couldnt. Thanks goodness for Liz
yay for Liz!
Public transit was halted for days, I dont know how people got to work w/o cars.
it must have been hellish
Pres. Obama was on Staten Island to visit the ruins. He also came to Brooklyn and went on to Long Island. Far Rockaway is still in very bad shape.
Seems like it almost went better for folks in NY than it did for New Orleans, but I can't help but wonder how many stories have yet to be heard.
he starts his next period with quite a challenge
It will take months but we will get through this. I think it went better for NY because NY is more prominent. In Staten Island the Moore family lost both their babies..they were swept away. Awful, awful.
Yes, the President starts his second term with a very full plate.
omg... oh that is horrible :(
fireflies. Good one today!
YAY for sprite!!!
*hugs* to you all. Have a lovely day and/or a peaceful evening.
You too, sprite
has everyone else got the two ei 5/12's that are exactly the same or is it just me?
I have one ei 5/12
is that the duck one?
yes
must be just me then that its given two to
I dont have a list. The only ei I have is the ei 5/12
it might help if i looked properly, its ei 5/12 and el 5/12, lol my bad
aha
(((ANNIE))) so glad to re4 that you are okay!
(((Dawg))) Glad to be back and great seeing you
been up since 1:30. had an incident this morning...truck drove into our garage.
OMG, what a way to wake up..much damage? everyone Okay?
fortunately, the garage is detached...more so now. cars--can't get in to see all the damage.
ei 4 and ei 5.... only 2 of them
I wonder if the driver of the truck had been drinking? Did he stay?
nope, he ran or they ran. more than likely drunk, sad to say that's a common status of young bucks around here.
they left the scene of an accident. will not bode well for them. meanwhile, you have all this aggravatiion.
i just hope they have insurance and the truck wasn't stolen.
Hi there everyone!
hi gramma
hello gramma
dawg, check with body shops. I'm sure they'll want to look pretty driving around stoned.
well city and mhp cops are alerted. and we'll just have to wait and see.
we live in the county but the road in front of our house is city, so there are three agencies on alert, city, county and highway patrol.
dawg, hope this clears up soon and insurance will have to pay to get your garage and cars repaired.
already put in an initial claim with my insurance company. waiting to hear back from them.
Where I live the police are too busy with traffic violations to bother with crime. (At least they think they're too busy)
the poor trooper that responded had been up for over 23 hours. the man was dead on his feet! short handed due to the state rivalry game in Missoula.
dawg, then an adjuster will come out and assess the damage.
herin is in the grid today
I just hope it's later today and we don't have to wait til Monday.
haven't seen herin in ages.
We had our copper pipes stolen from our house. What a nightmare! Expensive to replace also. The police were called in and they didn't have a clue. So we called salvage/junk buyers. On our second call, the man said he knew who it was.
lucky for you gramma.
Good luck to you. BBL
I have to get ready to bring my car to the garage and see if it can be salvaged. See you later. Dawg, good luck with everything.
the culprits here, left the truck in the side of the garage. we know who the owner of the vehicle is, just hope it wasn't a stolen vehicle.
hope your car can be salvaged, Annie. and thanks.
later, gramma

morning all!
Hello, Sue.
hi, BR!
hi uu
hi smores!
((suze!))
hi crossy!
just read through chat...lol crossy
Did you get some sleep last night, Sue?
I did, BR, more than Frank did.
'morning, babblers
hiya welki :)
(glad to 'see' that you got some much needed sleep, sue)
Good day to all.
hi, scrabbs
morning Scrabbler
howdy scrabby
How is everyone?
any day on this side of the dirt is a good one for me:)
agreed. hoping for another beautiful day today - got most chores done yesterday, so i should be able to get out and get some air
nice sunny day today.may go for walkabout with my better half later;)
Fishing much, welki?
I went mountain biking yesterday--10 miles in 37 F degree weather.
But it was sunny and I really did not feel cold.
sounds like a great idea crossy
nope - ice is too thin and the open water is far to cold to flyfish (for me, anyway) - truthfully, had such a crappy season this summer, that i'm finding it hard to get motivated for winter fishing
i would much rather bike 10 miles in 37f than 87
gonna go for a little hike this afternoon myself
I think that is why I endured so well, Crossy.
brrr.....
wear layers, smores, then take one layer off at a time when you are sweating
yeah...I know the drill...just don't like it :)
yup, layers, layers, layers.i have this amazing ski shell i found at the reuse centre.could never afford one brand new but his is like new and does it ever wick away moisture while cutting wind.just wear a sweater and a fleece jacket under and you are good for anything
I did some biking with just a long-sleeve wicking shirt.
crossy, if you have moisture problem while cutting wind, you probably should call the doc :)
lol welki
HAHAHAHAHA
LOL
or wear depends
I am laughing as I re-read Crossy's words.
:-D
on that note scrabby are sling to help with uninary problems a real danger or are they still of use.i see the tv lawyers in the states are circling over these slings now
Sends cross a boxcar of Beano
hi, BR
Hello, welki
;) BR
There is still surgery to help women with incontinence issues, and I think slings are used. I do not want any more abd surgery although I have bladder issues. Five have been enough.
my mrs had a radical hysterectomy years ago and she has been paying for it ever since:(( the pee problem is just one result of that
Same for me
her innards are such a disaster, nobody want to go in and fix anything:(
3 cm mass of the fluid? coating? that used to coat and lubricate her innards that has now calcified
and things pull and tug in there with pain as a result:(
so sorry :(
it is ok smores.now they just talk about pain management and not fixing things
Peritoneal cyst? I had one removed.
been waiting 4 month for a obgyn appt now..
eekk - that is too long to wait
that is one area where we lack.we have one obgyn for a 200 mile radius
things ok now Scrabbler?
this same obgyn was the one that did my beloveds hysterectome.she was in there for 4 hours!
but enough bitching.i hear the cat playing with the pots and pans in the drawer under the stove brb
It took 4 operations to finally remove all optional parts along with ovarian cysts and a peritoneal cyst. I have lots of adhesions causing pain.
lol....silly kittie
hi again all, various doctors and nurses were here but things have calmed down again.
ok,rescued kitten.how is frank today suze?
wow scrabbler, 4 operations
weak and in pain, crossy
things are progressing but it is very slow
is he able to eat anything yet?
yes,he has had a rough go.any time you have to open someone up again,it is a real whallp on the patient
he tried yesterday but too much gas, he is getting bloated again, so the only thing he is getting by mouth is the occasional ice chip
It sucks to recover from surgery, Sue. Exhaustion, pain, loss of control.
indeed, and he's had two major abdominal surgeries in six days, I can't even imagine what that must be like
So many drugs in the system--anesthetics, pain meds, anti-nausea meds...
plus the TPN...
Loss of sleep too---> life becomes a blur, time is suspended, ....
indeed - and now we are even more anxious before since he's already gone south once
After abd/pelvic surgery there is always the risk of bowel obstruction from adhesions, whether within days or years.
gas pain + nausea = panic on Sue's part :-/
One of the concerns Frank must deal with is thinking in terms of recovery
remember that the pain is from skin, muscle, other tissues being cut, torn, stretched and sewn
yes, we have been talking about that - I keep telling him that he is healing even when it doesn't feel like it
he may be developing an ileus again, they are talking about maybe re-inserting the nasogastric tube - would be his fourth - after surgery itself probably his least favorite thing
well, that and the ostomy bag, which he doesn't have any more, thank goodness
The narcotics contribute to ileus, as does the surgery itself.
hehe on a off topic for a second.been playing words with friends for exactly one day and now have 15 games going at once:) with wwf, babble and bookworm adventures all going at once,i think i have entered the hopeless beyond redemption wordie group
exactly, but he needs the narcotics, and he certainly needed the surgery. Sigh. It's been a tough couple of weeks.
poor frank:((
and of course all of this is postponing the chemotherapy, another concern...
Someday he will look back on this and be amazed at how tough he was.
ileus scrabby?
damn chemo...
Name that planetarium
I play Scrabble and Lexulous, but not WWF. The interface (colors, busy-ness of site) are too stimulating for me.
indeed he will, scrabs!
Adler!
ileus = bowel muscle being "asleep" and not moving things along.
ask about those chemo pills for him suze.he does not sound like he will be strong enough for iv chemo for a while.
:)) uu
ahh ok ty scrabbs
One hour at a time for Frank. Keep him distracted with music and audiobooks and TV
brb
yes, I have my iPad here with music, and they have cable TV and internet as well
ileus occurs during gastroenteritis too, but is short-term and not dangerous
hadn't thought of audio books, I'll ask him if there's anything he'd be interested in
wish i had that magic wand, sue
me too, welki! I seem to have misplaced it...
meanwhile, does anyone have stats for the bottom y?
Rock Center (NBC) had a feature on the ability of videogames to relieve chronic and acute pain even better than opiates
yes,distract the mind
he's nodded off again...
ye 4 -- hollered, sort of
thanks, BR, nbt
http://preview.tinyurl.com/bz6oeco
thanks, scrabs! Will bookmark that.
does anyone here knit?
The soldier was incredibly inspiring too
I knit poorly and with numerous dropped stitches. Does that count?
hehehehe - only if you can coach me on how to finish off an item with the kitchener stitch :)
my forehead knits

crossy wonders when the new improved twinkies will start coming out of the new plant in mexico? i hate the things myself, but picked up a unopened box from my friend at the corner store in case things get silly on e-bay lol
dungeness sounds lovely...
they're a west coast crab, much larger than blue claw and smaller than king crab - about 1 - 2 pounds
snow is my fav - but all are delish
btw, I notice that chog is in the grid...
lol... that was the 1st thing I saw
crab meat? just place the bucket of burbling garlic butter right beside ole crossy..

HI ruby :)
I could probably eat a 72 oz steak but in Texas, not here. Beef here is awful
ohhhh, crafty pal - i picture someone sneaking around the crowds, 'wanna bet on some crabs, 4 to 1, shhhh, don't tell anyone'
yes, it was hilarious - at that time I weighed 105lbs - and there were several men entered who did not take me seriously....silly men...lol
speaking of crafty, Ruffino pretended to be Ruby so he could get a second walk. He acted docile, let DH put her leash on him and squatted to pee.
husband doesn't see well and they're about the same size now
LOL...that is hilarious ruby
and he even squatted? too funny
i have to eat something - bbl
the first time he did it, I thought it was an accident, but now he's done it twice

You should consider becoming Pro mimic, well worth the cost..
And the first word in previous post should be Now....duh.
I will when my SSI finally comes in. Don't even have enough money right now to do that----sad, but true! Looking forward to posting a profile.

Good Sue, I'm sure it will do you a world of good.
Hi Molly

Hi Glant
and thanks, glant! Gnetting him proper nutrition once he can start eating again will be a challenge. He's always eaten very well, but between recovery, celiac, Crohn's, and chemotherapy it will be, well, interesting

sue, I followed The Plant Programme diet - and had very few side effects of the chemo - the hospital were really surprised at how well i did
LOL
I'll look it up, glant, thanks!
if you can get them to put atavan in the drip, Frank will be less nauseous (or even nor at all)
not*
Thye gave me Zofran to help with nausea but all it did was give me severe constipation - I had no nausea
I was starvingly hungry all the time
the people we've talked to who have had chemotherapy for colon cancer recently have reported very few side effects - no nausea, no hair loss
small person = young person
side effects vary from chemo to chemo
depends which substances they use/combine
and from person to person; nutrition will be very important whatever the side effects are
Is anyone amazed and angry that we have to tell the doctors how to treat us? Infuriating. I worked with doctors for 30 years and there's one thing I remind everyone: You know what they call the guy who finished last in medical school? DOCTOR.
I kept thinking my hair wouldn't fall out, so didn't cut it, and it all fell out in one day
brb.. laundry too today, oh joy, oh jubilation
my oncologist was really frustrated with me all the way through chemo because I kept asking questions LOL
well, his hair has been falling out anyway, so no big deal there (although he doesn't want to lose his moustache)
Is this Thanksgiving in the US?
Thanksgiving is this coming Thursday, nan
Yes, cy---Thurs.
This coming Thursday, Nan
It's Thursday Cyber
I "shopped" my chemo protocol which was designed by an oncologist in Boston, even though I was in Miami
and at the end he said, see i'd have answered all your questions today. I said I needed the answers when i asked the questions, not at the end of chemo
oh -- so last Fri was shopping madness?
No, the Friday after Thanksgiving
Unfortunatly, the goverment here chose shopping over the celebration of harvest as it is in Canada.
all the medical staff here have been very accommodating of our questions all along; the surgeon actually gave us a copy of the pathology report
Heym Glan, it is your body and you should ask anything you want and they should be happy to answer. Problem is, sometimes you ask a question they don't have the answer to and that makes them insecure---poor babies.
that's good Sue
Thanksgiving is the 4th Thursday in November.
they just wanted to 'take care of me', they didn;t want me to make any decisions about what might be best for me
Good for you, sue. You got a good one.
probably helps that Frank and I are both well-educated and pretty smart (not that I am tooting my own horn)
I don't think you can fight cancer without being involved in the fight :-)
So if you can't make decisions about your own body, who's supposed to do it? I'd rather have all the information I can get so I can make informed choices.
agreed Mimic
and we are in a university town so they are probably used to that anyway
I think the Internet is driving doctors crazy because patients know much more today than in the past
Actually, it's two things, a different type of physician plus reimbursement is now directly tied to patient satisfaction...great motivation for MD's to be better about answering questions...
One NP at my cardiologist's office actually told me to stop looking things up on the internet because it would confuse me----never saw HER again.
good for you, mimi!
help with re 5/16. the word after to do over
firing a doctor can be very satisfying!
My doctor is fine---has been treating me for free since I have no insurance. But that nurse HAD to GO!!!

happy babbling all *poof*
bye glant!
and hi, harp!
I'm back to say thank you. I had an email saying someone had anonymously upgraded me to Pro status. I'm so touched I'm tearful. Kind of feel like Blanche from Streetcar---the kindness of strangers, though youu guys no longer feel like strangers. To my anonymous benefactor, again, thank you. You have made my day and even my week!!!!
Going to work on that profile!
oh, how wonderful, mimi! :)
yay mimi!
This is a very special community of people.
that is so wonderful mimi; the same thing happened to me, thanks to jillibus
:) how sweet mimi - so happy - can't wait to see your profile :)
that's babble land for you, Mimi. lots of good caring people here.
Howdy, all. Oh, mimi - it's so nice to hear you were upgraded. There is nothing more warm and cuddly than Babble benevolence.
hi judi!
Updated profile, smores, but need to find a picture that is relevant. Will be looking. I already knew this community was special and now I feel fully hugged!!!
Hi, everyone!
Hi, Brookie and uusue!

BBL - 100 left
good afternoon all
Smores, could you try to access my profile? Not sure if I got it right.
can't access the profile - should work by clicking on your icon
That's what I thought....I entered and updated and even put a picture up. Am I just stupid or what? I logged out and back in, too. Duh!!!
try refreshing your account page right after you add the picture? I think that works for me, anyway
but I can access your profile by clicknig your "pink purse" as some call them, lol
*clicking
go into your account - do you have a check mark in the box in upper right hand corner that says Show My Profile
Yes, and I checked it. Also tried to upload a picture but it wasn't formatted correctly. I created a flicker account but it changed my log in name. Want it to be MimiCat without the 42. Will keep working on it. Will look for a picture that will be accepted and try refreshing. Thanks, teach!
tr 7/36 ??
yaa for mimi! yes babble is unique.many people have been gifted a pro subscription diring the 4 years i have been playing.babble players are amazing!
really, I can see your profile, Mimicat, just not your picture.
for your picture it needs to be in a jpg or gif format - i choose clip art that is already in that format - have never used flicker so don't know about that
crossy has no problem using pre made gif,s
yes, i can see your profile if i click on your pink purse
i used several wolves in the beginning, but now i am happy with this one and do not see myself changing him any time soon
me either, in fact I have on occasion driven some babblers to distraction by using moving gifs in here, you can do it if they are 32 x 32 pixels to start with. but some folks say it bothers them to see moving things in chat.
uked should be a word. "After I harped and pianoed, I uked."
lol!
lol@uked
heh heh... son just came in ..asked what i was listening to... said it sounded like an old cartoon.. danger lurking....... i am listening to mozart's requiem
What is the pink purse? If I click on my profile generic picture, shouldn't the profile come up? I'll try clip art for now, rbud. Back soon.
the pink purse is just a joke name for the little head with a pink shirt next to your name
it should come up if you click on your icon (picture) but it isn't - the purse is the symbol to the right of your name and to the left of the flag
see, some have blue "purses", some have gray ones...
ty rbud, was wondering about the mysterious "pink purse" thought i was losing my mind
I've heard folks call it that over the years, thought it was kinda funny. ;p
looks like a toque with a pom pom on top
you know, you're right, crossy, it does look like a little hat to me now, thanks for the change in p.o.v., lol!
if the world can see a picture 300 different ways, trust crossy to find a 301,st way
A profile will only come up when you click on the icon picture if there IS an icon picture. If not, you have to click on the male/female, pink/blue icon.
OK, at least my "words of wisdom are there." Will keep trying for a picture it will accept. Thanks, all.
stats for the 2nd D and the Y in 2nd column please for nbt :)
And you have to contact Dr. God...dr.god@playbabble.com...to change your user name.

oh, that sounds good, Doren
uh, oh, I am getting to be predictable.
I could live on soup and chocolate and a little gin
will let you know tomorrow... new recipe. coriander and cumin in it, along with garlic and onion. my homemade vegetable broth... then lime juice and greek yogurt
Predictable? Never. I just know you like soup. : )
ok :)
Always best to make soup a day ahead of time.
she also likes recipes in general... often asks what we're cooking.. i was expecting it too
I was right there with that recipe, up until the yogurt.
it's optional. i love greek yogurt
yogurt for me too - or some sour cream
need to check it. later, gators
Oh, now sour cream as a garnish for that soup sounds really good.
left column gray, 54 left, bbl
still need a ke 4 and a ke 5 and cant figure them....
whats the other 8 please besides the in8?
I found a recipe that sounds like what Dorens is making. Except it calls for sour cream and lime as the garnish. Adding it to the soup recipe collection.
st8/55
thanks. looking.
SMom, do you have the ke words that start the unit of corn?
yes.. molly and found the other one too... tn=hanks

Yes 2Bit, especially in the wacky world of Enable.

Hi Annie, flosey, cos, zooz
Hey Jilly :)
and bichon :)
Bet you still are really glad to be home!
Nooooooooooooooo! Once is not on tonight!
hi bichon
Jill, very much so...there is so much equipment here...pumping water and dehumidifying
(sob) My car was declared totaled today
And heat...TV...internet with babble...LOL
How's it going in your neighborhood Annie?
oh dear, hope insurance covers it Annie
oh Annie - I didn't know ((hugs))
all the necessary things we take for granted
flosey, nope, it is an old car and I dropped colision years ago
In all my years living in the Rockaways, I never thought anything this bad woul happen
The Rockaways are in bad shape
Allmost all the stores near the ocean are closed and damaged
Annie, I saw a video of what happened in Brooklyn and it was intense. It includes one of the explosions that led to massive power failures.
The very worst that ever happened was the bay and the ociean met. But the water wasn't that deep. A lot of nursing homes were on the boardwalk
Molly, that explosion happened in Manhattan and Con Ed fixed it in a few days
monkeyed that re6/24, unknown one would think normal in sheep country
Actually, when we were in hawaii at a lu'au, the couple at our table was from Rockaway-just devasted. I felt so bad for them..
A lot of nursing homes are still there
I saw the video too! Posted it on my wall. Scary.
re7/36 please?
past tense Cos
I hope this area is okay by the summer
oh I have that already.. ugh thanks lol
Yeah Annie, my mistake. It was Manhattan.
No big deal.
And it looked like Bermuda in the midst of the worst hurricane ever.
a-sk finito, gonna take a break before the wall of st..brb
Was Katrina worse than Samdu
bye jill
Katrina had many more deaths
is the tr7/32 a pt?
FEMA did well this time.
The problem with this recent storm is that it hit areas that were in no way prepared to deal with what the storm brought.
no, not pt
no cos think old fashioned sewing machine, non electric
There was no "Your'e doing a good job, Brownie." Makes my blood boil
I bet there are plenty of shore dwellers who will rebuild in the same spot
well I mean to say FEMA did better than they did in Katrina
ty for tr7 :)
what are the 8's
FEMA was here a week later
One more 7 left and its a tr7/36 hmmm
yw cos, the other tr7, change second vowel to cons.
they sound the same
ST 8/55 and IN 8/40
(wouldnt know how they sound lol but ty got it)
They didnt care what happened to the people in New Orleans
ty teach
ah they do look the same if you mouth them tyvm 7's done
yw cos
NYC had rich people, NOLA had low income.
The area of Nola that got hit was the poor folks. Has anyone been watching "Treme"
I have a good friend in NOLA ansd he was evacuated too but he lived in the rich part of town and they weren't that affected there. just the smell was god awful
It's hot in NOLA that time of year. No power, AC, must have been unbearable. But, what happened in NYC, NJ was awful too. Most of the people in the Rockaways, except for a couple of wealthier areas, are piss poor
Oh, there are plenty of low income people in New York.
Oh I didn't mean to imply there weren't
Coney Island is really poor, lots of projects
New Orleans has plenty of rich folks too. Ala The Garden District.
teach, listening to a Blue Grass show from WV, but it's over :-(
But, Katrina didn't hit them as hard, right?
I don't think it matters if you have money or not when you get flooded - it is all quite devastating - especially emotionally.
someone at the door, be back later
well of course it helps if you have money behind you - but you get my drift
When you are hit hard and have money you can afford to go elsewhere where this power, etc. If not, you're stuck in the dark
And fireworks for me.
my last word - the blue thing above us all with pt
Congrats Zooz!
There were sick elderly people in the high rises that had no place to go. Even Coney Island Hosp. was evacuated.
WTG, Lynxxx!!
YAY for lynxxxie!!!!
My current project is writing a booklet on Flooding - seriously. Bye everyone
bye, lynxxx
Bye, Lynxxx..take care.
bye lynxxx
oye..the st's...
Ok going to get ready to watch the F1 grand prix..take care, All.
bye zooz, enjoy
going to start thinking about dinner, bye
hello again - back for the last 35
Okay, I'm completely stalled...help with the st6/24, think it's between the cow and the beer cup...
just working on the st's now jill
Have fun!
st and what you say when you see a mouse
just before the cow jilli, add to previous st5/10
and hello all
hi westie
hi flosey
all of a sudden it's dark..
st 6/24: like metal hardened by the Bessemer process
Dang it, i have a 5/18 before the cow...not a 5/10...looking
was going to take a bake break but hubby needs kitchen for an hour or so
is he making dinner?
yay! found both, ty cyber & flosey..almost through the st's
I need help with the st8

thanks bea got it
ty bea
Jilly , was that a help to you?
are there any su words
no su words
I have 27 st words ty flosey for the count
yw west
i have 27 st words also - guess we need 4 more
I started this grid by getting rid of all the vowels.. then the k's
One st left, the last st/618 (don't add peri/cos time-I am stumped)
I know I'm not a city kid, but I always get concerned when I hear about sick, elderly people in high rises.
change last letter of st6/30 I think is what you need jilly
got it, ty flosey...!! :-D
Jilly st + a fast dance.
s's down :)
But Molly, they can be little communities that take care of each other..
oops - missed the r's! .. a lot of them!
*hands cyber a cool cloth*
thanks for the fast dance mo
reminds me of Girl Scouts
yw westford.
we did the Virginia R***
I was thinking of no power, no elevator, no way to get down 20 flights of stairs.
and wheel chairs and walkers..scary
not heard of that ... I thought it was a Scottish dance.
kind of a square dance
hey all, it's a biggie -- worth starting?
done in a line with partners across from each other - usually has a caller
I made smores' Miracle Custard Pie..added coconut..it was awesome
hi stid..it's good
STid - be aware that there is no Lickety
stid a fairly easy one.
ah, no lickety no problem -- I'll be happy if I can get halfway in reasonable time.
thanks... *splash*
hi again, back for a few more while the chicken bakes
hey smores
hey smores did you see my post?
hi smores.
just did west :) glad you liked it
it was so easy too
next I'm going to try smores bars..just got the ingredients

Hello uusue...update?
night Mo - sleep well :)
hi sue..been following Frank's progress..so relieved and happy
hi west and jilly~
missed a lot of re's -- including Edinburgh
Frank slept most of the morning; then we had visitors, which always perks him up (and I took the opportunity to go out and get my hair washed and cut).
has he had is surgery, sue?
He is back to not eating, getting IV nutrition; maybe try some liquids tomorrow.
Long story in my profile, nan; he had extensive surgery for colon cancer, then emergency surgery again 6 days later, still recovering from that
oh ouch - hope the prognosis is good
*trying to figure out the Edinburgh reference*
should be, nan, once he recovers from the surgeries; we'll do chemo after that
Okay just updated my proflle to include the pumpkin variation
Auld Re 5
glad to hear it sue
I still am a little concerned about his stomach as well uusue..

i have tried all the past tenses.
sorry, mkg, I don't have any 7's or 8's yet; just started about 1/2 hour ago.
Hi TO. How are you doing this evening?

I wanted to clarify that I'm a mimi (grandmother) and my first name is Cathy---there you go---MimiCat.
yvw mkg :)
I thought the cat part had to do with your love of cats :)
okay; I think I've seen you before as mimicat; but never the MimiCat42
I know--kind of works out, doesn't it? Good thing they didn't have email when I was raising great apes or I might have been MimiGorilla!!
LOL!
lol...you raised apes
Yep. Gorillas, Orangutans and Chimps. It's like the three sides of human personality: Gorillas are the best we could possibly be, orangs can go either way, and chimps are the dark side.
LOL
the id, the ego, and the superego?
Wow! I thought you were teasing us. How did you do that?
You gotta write the book Mimi
Hiya Hurshy :)
hi hurshy. Haven't seen you for a while; how are you doing?
I was in my 20's and got a job (in Atlanta) with Yerkes Primate Center because I met the director of it while I was working at WSB-TV and he offered me the job since I was studying to be a behavioral psychologist and also had experience raising monkeys at home. During that time I was also singing in nightclubs including the Playboy Club. And that's just the tip of the life iceberg!! Smores, told you I was colorful!!!
I have to go, spend some time with my girls
have a wonderful evening all
Bye, smores and lots of hugs.
MimiCat; I never thought my life was boring; but compared to that-it definitely has been
{hug} Mimi - you will have to tell me more tomorrow :)
Night all :)

hi again all!
Ru, I suggest you go real early, or real late.
Costco was nuts yesterday
hi sue. How are you today; and how is Frank doing?
hi nef!
good evening sue
Frank is healing, slowly (back to almost nothing by mouth)
I took off for an hour (got friends to come visit) and got my hair washed and cut, feel much more human now :-)
oh, good. It's so important to remember to care for yourself at times like this
my dad signed up for the Caring Bridge site, which is kind of cute :-)
they are giving Frank insulin now, since the IV nutrition seems to be kicking up his blood sugar
that's nice. I follow my sister's step-grandson on there
Many months ago I mentioned FaceBook to my dad, but he said he was "not a joiner"; I am actually kind of tickled that he joined the caring bridge site
it's good he's getting the insulin drip; he'll heal better with a normal blood sugar level
your Dad must like Frank, I'd guess?
I think so too.
hi sue.
pc froze :(
hi, TO!
and yes, my dad does like Frank (more now than he did when we dated when I was 16 and Frank was 19 :-)

is freank restling comfortably?
he is, TO, taking a nap right now
Frank and I were engaged just out of high school, nef, but broke up when we went to college (communication being not so good back then), we got back together about 4.5 years ago
ok, I just totally made up some cl words that turned out to be actual words
I've heard that sometimes makes it that much sweeter when you fall in love again
it's pretty sweet :-)

*Tries to stir up conversation* So, what's everyone doing for Thanksgiving?
will be on call for emergencies
Hi there MollyL! I am going to Long Island. How about you?
Hi molly. I'm going to my mother-in-law's. leaving hubby at home.
Hi Mini
Our clan gathers here on Thanksgiving. We were going to try a buffet at a really nice country restaurant, but didn't get reservations in time.
we go to a careteria
Mixi, your husband isn't going to his mother's house?
no, he has to work.
he gets to work christmas day too.
*Feels bad for Jes and Mixi's husband*
Mixi that is a little not fair. When I worked hospitality you had a choice of one or the other Christmas or NYE never both
My daughter-in-law is an ER nurse, and she has her choice of one or the other.
he works in computer operations. he works mon-thurs. if it's a holiday, either find someone to cover for you or work. He generally doesn't even ask. (he's the only one on his shift).
Well I hope he gets extra pay for that.
he gets paid for the holiday plus time and a half. so two and a half times pay to be bored.
Shame on his company for not closing on those holidays.
I remember those days doing security. Sitting in a little dog box tweedling my thumbs waiting for deliveries.
some years ago he didn't have to be on-site.
te6/24 please?
Like the bear, with a person who is ending.
st8?
thanks, moll

Boy, wish I'd been able to sign in last night - I hVW 109 after only 30 minuts, I might've finished the game. So, onward, and upward.
0bviously, my computer needs more sleep.
Has anyone heard from Sue today?
I think she was on this afternoon peach.
hello from down under.
Hi there, Rose. How in the world are you?
hi granny
Did she mention how Frank is today?
doing very well, thanx peach. and hey to you, beth
how are you both?
Hi there, bethn. Hope all is well with you.
I believe she said he is very weak, still not able to eat, and his treatment will be postponed till he can get a little stronger
Rose, I feel better tonight than I have in months. That bout with bronchitis was wicked.
Doing better, I had a new procedure done on my back this week, and I am just starting to feel like myself
Good for you, bethn. Sending good thoughts to you.
are you still on medication peach?
wtg both of you. i did hydro today with no narcotics on board. think work tomorrow should be okay.
No, I was on what they call a "z-pack". Powerful antiboitic.....only had to take it for 5 days.
Good for you, Rose.
yay Granny! those can do a number on your system
lol, my first week back, and i have to take thursday off on annual leave as they are closing my unit down for 'electrical' work.
Need food.....brb.
well I guess that gives you a chance to ease back gently
beth, not only your system, but your head. you take them, then wonder do i need them? today i he6 my bets, took them with me, but didn't need them.
beth, what did you have done to your back?
They inserted a probe thru the coccyx and used high frequency radio waves to fry the nerves alonb my sacroiliac joint and 4 discs.
sounds interesting. what do they call the procedure? and, i guess, you have had lower back pain for a while?
I think it is a barnham synergy procedure. I fell and broke my back 10 years ago. at the same time I wrecked those discs and my SI joint. I have been having pain remediation done for quite a while to make me functional
it is a new procedure (in the US anyway) only been being done for a year or two
Saw the posts about Sue and thought I'd let you know she was on today and it's possible Frank will be coming home tomorrow. He still has a problem eating. I think Sue is already tired just anticipating taking care of him alone. She may be able to get home nursing and we encouraged her to do so.
thanx mimi
Thanks, Mimi. I, too, hope she gets home help.
absolutely, if she can get help she should. Being caretakerr to someone so ill is overwhelming. she will be more able to help him if she is not exhausted herself
Beth, I had a similar problem with my back, have had two surgeries done 12 years ago and still have some problems occasionally. The surgeries were terrible, especially the second where they did a fusion and I wouldn't recommend that. I wish you much luck and if you have any questions, I'm happy to give you my perspective.
mimi, spinal surgery has come a long way in the last decade. they now do a minimally invasive procedure. patients are up the next day, with no restrictions as to position or activity. i's been amazing to see.
Hi all!
Hi, Liz!
I am avoiding fusion for as long as i can walk mimi. This last procedure was to avoid fusing my SI joint. The life expectancy of that surgery is @ 15 years, and in a woman my age that is not a doer, so we tried this out. I am hoping for good results. It is not permanent, the nerves will regenerate usually about a year, but if it gives me relief then it is a good option
Hi there, Lizlin.
hi lizlin!
I'm sure it has improved. Back problems are very common. The big trap so many, including me, fall into is the pain medication. It can be difficult to break free of it once you get used to taking it. I've been free of the medication for 6 years now and can use Aleve for the occasional flareups. Hey, if they could have zapped those nerves for me, I'd have let them!!
I cant do the pain meds for more than a day or two, so I pretty much just suffer when it is bad. I do use lidoderm patches when it is really bad, and it k nocks it back to bearable. you just cant use them often or they lose the efficacy so I save them for " special"
lol, mimi. with you all the way. i prolapsed 9 discs about 32 years ago, was told if i didn't have a fusion i would be in a wheelchair within 5 years. and here i am, still very much ambulant, surviving a total joint replacement, and ready for the next 10 years. rock on!!!
you go granny!
awww, beth. i am so sorry it has been so bad for you. i do so hope this latest procedure is the solution. can it be repeated? and if so, how long between?
Bethn - I just looked at your profile, you're not yet 60, so why is a 15year reprieve not acceptable. By that time, they'll've found another treatment for your problem.
now, isn't this the strangest thing? we are all within a few years of age to each other.
I think they will do it every 10- 12 months as needed. anything more than than that is difficult because the recoup can be difficult
I'm so sorry for you, all of you. But we're women!! and we survive!!
I love it when I complain about aging difficulties and someone says "beats the alternative" because my answer is "How do you know?" In any case, I've nearly died 3 times already but think God leaves me here because he doesn't need the grief of having me there criticizing how he's doing things!!!
yay!!! women rock!!! and christine, don't waste your sympathies on me...i'm a tough old bird. but love your sentiments all the same.
Funny, Mimicat
The SI joint is not a really good candidate for surgery, there is only the one option, and according to my doc (recommended by the hospital for special surgery) there is only the one surgery as of now and nothing new has been tried in a long time. If they do ot come up with womething better, I do not want to be wheelchair bound at 75
Keep on fighting those battles girls! We're worth it!!!!
we used to tell my grandmother that God wasn't ready for her yet and Hell was afraid she would take over!
lol, mimi. reminds me of what i say about my mum. she's going to be standing at the pearly gates, telling st peter how to take care of them.
I'm getting a new hip, and another new knee in the New Year - now all I need is a new man, and life will rock, again.
Until 3 years ago I still sang with a classic rock band so I think I'm doing pretty well. The heart attack earlier this year slowed me down a bit, but I'm picking up steam monthly!!!
go mimi
are they doing them at the same time, or will they space them?
Sounds like a fun life Mimi - hope you'll get back to it in some for m or other!
Hey, Christine, you're more optimistic than I am. I am now officially done with the male companion part of my life. After being married 23 years I'm actually thrilled to be living alone with my cats!!
beth, can you get some 'pain away' arthritis relief cream? i use it on sore tendons, muscles AND joints. the web site is www.painaway.com.au
I told my (grown) kids I love them all but never want to live with any of them ever again! Sold the big house and told the kids, "Pay attention--Mom now has a one-bedroom apt. and nobody's coming home!"
arnica cream or gel is also good for arthritic pain
I didn
nan, pain away has arnica in it
T have much luck with that one granny, I have tried just about every rub, cream ointment, holistic remedy on the market.
Hey, ladies, they can slow us down but they can't stop us!!! Good night, all.
anyway -- hi everyone :) - checking in for the flip :)
night, mimi. sleep well hun
Oh, MimiCat - I've been divorced longer than the rest of the world has been inhabited. Most of the time, I'm more than glad to come home to my own place.
nite mime bless you happy dreams
Night Mimi. sleep well
*MImi sorry typing with a cat lying across my arm
