WTG DIZ!!!!

i wish you 'girls' had been here this AM. i knew today was going to be quite warm, consequently, was up , doing dishes, washing and writing shopping lists very early. called out to don that lists were written...he said 'so?' and he was dumbfounded when i expected him to go out before 9am to do the shopping.
well done Don, I say. Who's awake at 9am? You can still taste the toothpaste.
hey, dachef...who rattled your chain? LOL being a male i would expect you to back don.*giggle*
damn right. ;)
Hi again. Glad that work went so well you sound appreciated Rose.
sorry, had a telephone call. Silly Don. A very good time to go shopping. Everything still quiet, it is quick and practical, and nobody minds him smelling of toothpaste.
Hi Liz
Hi sprite
ok, the phonecall was from a friend who is not feeling very happy... she wants to go for a walk with me. So I am off for now. See you guys later, and if not, have a lovely day and/or a peaceful evening.
9 is good to go shopping if its not me
Have to speak up for the blue handbags every now and again. Whilst I admit that there are many places on this earth that could do with a LOT less testosterone in them, the babble chog isnt one of them!
rofl....you are an amazing group to be a part of....love and hugs to you all
and now my wonderful hubby has put dinner in front of me....i'm outta here. happy babbling to all.
Enjoy dinner :)
well done Don...again! Have a nice dinner!!!
good morning
Hi Ruby
aaarg! I missed Rose by 2 minutes!
hi lizlin
hello dachef
hey rubes. She's having dinner, made by a MAN. Just thought that I should pass that on.
I got all excited, thought I saw elipse and elipsed as first two words! :(
not in my lifetime!
My hubby is making dinner now. And he goes to the market at 8.00 on Sunday am every week. I know I'm very lucky :)
my husband does the grocery shopping, so I shouldn't
complain
he can make two thinks, poached eggs and toast!
or even things*
We do the main shop together - joys of early retirement!
see? Men are good really. Now my work here is done.
I'm a great supporter of men!
I wouldn't mind shopping, but he insists on going to the hypermarche which is way too big and much too cold
I just make the lists
and cook, so I thik it's a fair trade-off
Lol - same with ours but that's air con and contrast to outside
Very fair
they keep the whole store the same temp as the coolers; it's awful
:( not nice!
Almost dinner time. Back later. Enjoy your day
done, and gone........
bye lizlin
quick 50!
nbt and half
but nothing bigger than a 6
back, hello all
Hello, sprite.
hello BabbleRabble, am happy to see you. Oh, that reminds me... gonna send you a picture. You might like it :)
OK. Thanks
there... sent :)
Very nice, sprite. I will have to "borrow" it for a few friends.
:) Am glad you like it.
A scientific solution is not one I often resort to.
no, especially not the last one
I think this grid qualifies as a puny one as well, wouldn't you agree?
Not much substance
Never knew puny could be this enjoyable
the re 7/40 is one I might try to use in conversation.
this has gone on long enough .... go to your doctor and get some re 7/40
hmmmzzz... nope, don't have it yet. I have the 9 (smug) but not yet re7. As usual, the re- words are slow in coming. The valid ones, that is.
recipes is a phantom though :)
and relieved too, lol
so is juglandaceous
of course :D
one less letter and a different vowel
ok... monkeys found it. Incredible... very unexpected ending!
bananas for your monkeys
ah... obsolete of course. My monkeys thank you (peeling the bananas upside down and stuffing their mouths)
I can see me asking my doc and asking are you able to provide some re 7/40
:D And he would answer: "Of courso, bro!"
Hahahah
I always want to keep all words in active use. Such a waste, obsolete words.
ah... fireflies. My last word was a lot more drunk than I ever am.
ep 7 plz
good job .... do you agree with the quote in my profile?
hi ivesy! A word or phrase attached to a name. Like Richard the Lionheart.
hi sprite.. ty will work on it..:)
*reading*
let me know if you need more, ivesy :)
morning all :)
Hello, smores
ty sprite, got it!.
hi smores :)
Nicely done, ivesy. Hope your day is going well.
BabbleRabble: it is a bit dark for my taste, but I can certainly relate to the ambiguity. I also agree that animals don't have that problem... all I need to do is watch Terra to see the proof of that.
good job, ivesy :)
Who among us has been told our job is to build death?
I don't agree that we are only an object to eachother, though. I also exist when I am all alone. And I experience a difference between interacting with a real object, or with a person.
hm, not me. But memento mori, yes, that I have been taught.
thanks for the 7's
yvw smores
doing ok here .getting ready for big thanksgiving feast and eating too much.
a little bit of everything, lol
I know my ponderings solve nothing yet I will never understand why beings were place on a revolving sphere without any obvious purpose thant the amusement of the thing that put us here.
rite now have to get ready to go for my blood work for my 3 month checkup... hagd all!
Hope all is well, ivesy
I hope all will check out fine, ivesy. Have a good day too.
Hi and bye ivesy ;
yeah... in kabballah they say that the purpose of creation is for god to learn to know him/her/itself.
I imagine that free will has no role?
I think it does. Seeing how things play out would be a learning experience. Of course, in kabballah everything in creation is a facet or aspect of god. So how it all interacts is the interesting point. Would be useless without free will.
I find it incredible a god needs us lowlies to learn to know him/her/itself.
What could we possibly teach a god?
Being created for God’s pleasure does not mean just made to entertain God or provide Him with amusement. God is a creative Being, and it gives Him pleasure to create. God is a personal Being, and it gives Him pleasure to have a genuine relationship with us.
sometimes I feel that is true, smores. And sometimes I just cannot understand God, especially when it comes to all the suffering I see.
As His creation we also have pleasure, and the pleasure of knowing Him
Agreed sprite, very difficult to understand all the suffering
what could we teach a god? They say we are created in his/her image. So I would imagine it is something like we do, learning about all our inner aspects and how to balance them and make us creative and whole.
Does the god of kabballah have the omnis: Omnibenevolence (God is all-loving) Omnipresence (God is present everywhere in space and time) Omniscience (God is all-knowing, past, present, and future) Omnipotence (God is all-powerful)
On more than one occasion I have gone into a church during the gloaming and yelled at god ... they tell I am evil and surely will go to hell? Yet, what have I done, god, but try to understand. What have I done?
not sure. I am not at all an expert. Looks like it, though, I think it does subscribe to those ideas. But if I am not mistaken, in the kabballah they also say that God cannot be known, and therefore not be defined.
Isn't Kabballh a Judaism school of thought, if so than I would say yes to the omnis
If god cannot be defined than have so many forests been destroyed for the paper used to explain the unexplainable?
whatever people say, it is not what god says. Of that I am certain. People judge and condemn. If there is a god, and I feel there is something that could be called that... it is about love. And not about judgments.
yes, it is, smores.
because people need to define, I think, BabbleRabble. People want to turn what cannot be defined into certainties, because they are scared of uncertainties.
Well, the solution is to have faith and toss the dogma
I do not believe in free will. I cannot conceive of a situation where I can god what you want you will not get.
i can tell god
I think the most basic and important words in all that paper is " God is love.." If we always remember that and try to imitate that we will be o
*ok
I was brought up being told: "Thy will be done." Not mine, god's
<---definately believes in free will
BRB
So, ask and you shall receive? You do not receive because god's will shall be done. We are told we asked for the wrong thing. Why even ask when god's will shall be done
I told a therapist god created the world as its outdoor toilet .... I still believe that
very true, BabbleRabble. Without free will, the whole purpose of creation is lost to me.
smores, I agree. If love isn't the core and essence of God, I don't want anything to do with him/her/it.
sin has an element of intent ... centuries after the original sin, people are born with its taint even though they could not have the intent to commit the sin. We are supposed to be joyous god's son saved us ... but why would be joyous about being saving from a sin we had no part of? Especially since god knew what was going to happen? How ludicrous!
I SO do not believe in the original sin. That whole story is so darn judgemental, it smells of humans to me, and not god.
ok, had to let the cat in and make some coffee
who let the dog out!
errr... the cat in :)
Not me..lol..my dog is snoozin'
nonetheless, jesus is worshiped as our saviour
As you can tell, I have a passing interest in religion. I shall stop
Jesus is definately my saviour
Hell is nigh
I enjoyed the talk, BabbleRabble. I have more doubts and questions than certainties and answers, that is for sure. It is nice to exchange some of them :)
lol..BR 5:29 just it just depends on what you're asking
isn't that in Brave New World... the neon ad for Shell with the letter missing, saying "hell is here" ?
* guess
I can't get into the saviour idea. My heart tells me Jesus was a remarkable person with a deep understanding of love. An example for me. But human. If he had not been human, he could never be an example, because I cannot strive to be divine.
Having early on been told I shall go to hell, I spent many hours thinking about how long eternity is and how I was going to get out of this mess.
you were really dealt a lousy deal there, weren't you? Such a dark way to bring up a child. I am pretty sure hell doesn't want you, BabbleRabble. If I only think of all the times you reached out and helped me or somebody else here, it already shows you to be much too loving and caring to be eligible for hell.
time to find a cosy religion that believes in re-incarnation and doesn't have a hell methinks BR
Good evening to you all
gotta get my kid up...brb
hi and bye lynxx :)
I def think Sprite is right on the money with her last sentence
hi lyn :) xxx
bye smores!
lovely to see you Sprite
and for me to see you, lyn. Hope you are doing well.
Hi, Lyn, and thanks.
Thanks for listening, sprite
that is what friends are for, BabbleRabble, as you yourself told me. I enjoyed our talk.
time for me to get going, things to be and people to do. I wish you all a lot of light in your day and a peaceful evening. *hugs*
Hi all and bye Sprite - have a good day
bye Sprite...I might get going too - staring at these letters isn't getting me anywhere. Bye BR & hi/be Liz
Be well, spriet
Be well, Lyn
okay - she is up and moving
guess I missed sprite:(
Evening Lyn :)
Listing at 60 words left! how did others manage this grid so easily???
you still here BR?
Hi smores
Yes
:)
enjoyed our chat...
A simplistic version of what I now believe is in my profile
interesting...very positive but.....
If that is what you truely believe great, just from our previous conversations I'm fairly certain you do believe in a divine being...just unfortunately were given a rather grim view of Him as a child.
helloooo
:(
I do not believe in institutional religion. I pray.
I find many insitutional religious people need to be institutionalized
For sure.
Sorry to interrupt but can I have a clue for ep 7 /36 pls - then I'm giving up for tonight!
I think it is great that people find what works for them.
I do attend church - actually I am a Sunday school teacher ( lol ) but I left religion as a teen and didn't go back until my mid thirties
No worries - found it. Good night and enjoy your days.
“Richard the Lion-Hearted†is an ep***** for Richard
ep7, word or words that describe a person or object ascribed or actual description.

good morning annie
Hi Trif
Im picking up my new lease car today..my other car was totaled in the storm
Hi annie :)
Hi trif :)
Good morning!!!
congrats on the car Annie, which one did you decide on?
Hi smores :)
A Honda Civic
good morning all
Do you love it, Annie?

Hi WV!
Yes, I do
:)
Nice!
Hiya Teach
Hi Smores!
Hi Annie!
Hey Car!! :)
Hi car. Hope you are all better
Annie I have a Honda Cvic and really like it. good luck with yours

Bye smores! Have a good one!
{{ group hug }} may you all have a wonderful day :)
Its a gun metal gray...very subdued but glossy and new
{{extra hug for BR}} :)
nice
Very nice!
good morning my babble friends;))
Yes, I really like it.
Hi Crossy :)
morning
Hi Crossy!
Hi Trif!
Crossy, I got the Honda Civic LX
That staircase is the bomb!
and now it is time for crossy,s tidbit of the day!!!
The split-fingered Vulcan salute from Star Trek is derived from an Orthodox Jewish ritual called the Blessing Hands, which is used to anoint congregations on holy days. Leonard Nimoy, whose grandfather was Orthodox, remembered the hand gesture from his childhood visits to the synagogue and borrowed it for his role as Mr. Spock.
very good choice annie.that car will give you reliable service for many years
ooooh! I like this one!
thanks crossy, I am going to pick it up this afternoon
straight lease or byout option?
buyout
straight lease but I will ask about a buyout at the end
like i say, depends how anal they are at turn in time
We will see. Salesman said no money due at end but there is a 1500. allowance for dings
how long is your lease for Annie?
3 years
ok
good cause ours count every boot scuff on the inside door panels and every rub and shopping cart ding on the body..it is terrible
a friend lease a civic for three years and then bought it with no problem
civics are so long lived,i would think you will buy it out at the end of the lease
like my toyota, amost 9 years old now and i have done the brakes once and changed a tail light bulb lol
peri, It is a good option for me. Then I have 3 years to make up my mind. I am really looking forward to having a new car. It has been a long time. I have been buying used cars. I had the totaled car for 10 years and I decided it was time for a new car and a lease sounded more affordable to me.
ahhh, that new car smell..there is nothing finer
I love that smell
that is fine, Annie. I decided to buy my car. whatever works best for you
well,a banded crisp stack of ten grand worth of 100 dollar bills smells nice as well:))
Yankee Candle has that scent now.
I hate parking lots, I try to park far away from other cars but still have some dings :(
bbl
I park in a lot at home so I expect some dings.
i have one bad shopping cart ding on the driver door;((
Bye Peri!
Enjoy your day!
tc peri
I am missing a V. Is there is a strange one?
crossy is having great fun with WWF :)))
morning all!
NM. Damn plural.
suze!!
Hello Uusue!!!!! {{gentle hugs}}
Hi sue, How is Frank?
hi crossy, car, annie!
phantoms: depth and vehicle
Frank is OK; we have to get him eating again. At this point his issues may be as much psychological as anything.
Phantom
Hello BR!
Hi BR!
I am sure they are, uusue.
of course he is still in a lot of pain....
hi BR!
BR, I like your horses and your profile quotes. Very nice.
it must be tough for him, every time he eats now is like playing russian roulette in his mind with his crohns and celiac and hsi surgery sites...:(
Something is wrong with the volume control on my children....
indeed, crossy, also he has a lifelong association with food and pain, and last week's emergency didn't help
missing the off button, car? :-)
It is stuck on 10
oh dear!
lol car.my son has his volume set to 11 and he just pulled the volume knob off and tossed it long ago
It has been going on since yesterday. I am about to lose it.
Grammy is still sleeping....
the bus is on it's way!!!
Praise GOD!
Are you going to Ignite the Nite, Trif?
car want a good idea? walk around for the next day or 2 and speak in a very soft voice.the kids will have to quieten up so as not to miss things and they will soon realize how loud they actually are
yes maam!
Crossy, that would not work at all. They don't do good listening.
Me too! What activity?
I am making a mac & cheese and salad. Do you want to share?
I watching the video with ron.....crap - just realized the girls with be with their dad....
no, it's okay
Grammy is now up.
car, have then put a sock in it for a period of time.
I am doing the exercise/relaxation class with Stacey.
JEALOUS - I wanted to do that too!
Why didn't you sign up for it?
I was going to ask if there was someone who could take over for you for a bit
They will have an activity tonight, so I will have a break. No worries. They are just excited about a mini-vacation this week.
(sorry if that was a non sequitur, car, surgeon just stuck his head in)
No worries uusue!
I felt I should sign up for ron's thing since it goes with the study we are doing in adult sunday school
Well, I shall think of you while I center myself!
anyway all Frank's tests were fine today (blood sugar, electrolytes) so they are turning down the fluids and will transition him to oral pain meds
Go, Frank, Go!
maybe we really will go home tomorrow!
that actually won't work, pet- center yourself!
be ready for a struggle when they transition him to oral meds as well
uusue...I really am enjoying the updates. Each time, I can then focus my thoughts and energy and prayers on what specifically is needed at that time.
bus time!
i grew to love my morphine really fast and i had a time of it
yay for the bus!!
praise god from whom all buses flow
well, we've been through this once already as they almost sent him home last week
god bless the magic bus:)
Sue, has anyone asked Frank if he thinks there is a psychological element to the eating issue?
lol, trif :-)
yes, and he's talked about it, BR, nobody's offered counseling though
may not be available in the hospital
Has Frank been asked in the presence of a doctor if he thinks he would benefit from counseling?
nbt
he has not, BR. He doesn't have a primary doctor, so the surgeon has taken on that role, but the surgeon is pretty busy
name that proper noun: swan from swan lake
the swan from swan lake has a name?
odile
ah, annie is right, and I remember now! good one, you two!
good morning everyone :-)
hi mom!
The surgeon has a nurse who could relay the query and I expect the doctor could write a script
yes annie, but I was actually thinking of the other twin, Odette
(((Mom))) good morning
hi ((uusue))
hi mom!
((Annie)) good morning ...... give us all the details of your new car ...
((Trif)) good morning, so good to see you!
yes, if he has issues today I will press the matter, BR. I am pretty sure there are counselors available at the cancer center, which is next door.
Trif, I dont see either on in the grid so I went with Odile
good to be seen! i have had slightly more time to babble lately, and laptop is back from heaven, so it's all good
((hugs to you and Frank)) uusue
its okay annie - odete is there, which is what made me think of it at all
excellent, Trif
thanks for the good suggestions, BR! I am not thinking as clearly as I might be at this point
Its a Honda Civic LX, gun metal gray and I am picking it up this afternoon.
thanks, mom!
keep your children from the streets this afternoon! Annie is GOING FOR A DRIVE!
I hope you like it as well as we liked ours. We had a civic and Alex still has the accord
you're welcome uusue
yay annie!
off to update CaringBridge, back in a few
I just loved it when I looked at it and it is comfortable inside. I just have to get used to all the things on the dashboard.
aniie? on the road?? in a new car???? i can feel my insurance going up as we speak:))
bye uusue
Trif is right! Everyone stay indoors!!
Parnelli Annie has a bit of a ring to it
things on the dashboard.....heh heh. christen that car right and it will be your feet, girl!
not true, Annie if I lived in Brooklyn I would go riding with you :-)
Ahhhhhhhh
Good morning BR, I like the sound of that
the sounds of silence descend, eh car?
Hello, Mom
Trif!!!!!
common now,no high heel marks on the ceiling of the new car
absolutely crossy!
these days they have everything on the dash. There is a light to tell me a tire is low on air
crossy, you got the wrong girl...LOL
Ummmm...not exactly silent....
Hi Mom!
i know, I know, I sound like a dime novel these days....can't THINK what has happened to me! (OH YES I CAN)
hmmm, maybe a certain someone has taken over Trif
thoughts
I need to move the enter button further away from the letters on this keyboard
car! car! the pe4 from our childhood is here!!! hahahaha
Is there a certain someone, Trif???
I know!!!!
you may be on target there, miss mom
Trif.....
I have a little eat/pray/love thing going on, I have admit
i know, car, I know
Trif, I am happy for you!!
:-)
when there is anything to REALLY know, you will all be the first to hear, I promise
And now the TV volume is on 10....
Im getting you ear plugs for christmas
I have to work...earplugs are counterproductive
oh thats right i forgot, you are dating the big burly firefighter eh trif?.go easy on the poor boy
what about those fancy noise cancelling headphone thingies?
lol crossy! he has competition.....
remember he has to fight fires the next day
Even with these big headphones on....I can still hear it.
really TRif?????
bose company make these anmazing noise cancelling headphones
hahaha - yes, after 47 years of being a RIDICULOUSLY good girl, never doing ANY thing I shouldn't over analyzing every single frigging thing, I am working on a new career as the town pump.
NOT REALLY of course!
*sing song* Trif's got a boyyyyyyfriend!
of course not
NO I DON"T JUDI
Crossy, I can't afford those.
hi Judi
Good morning, young lovers!
Trif.....
Hi judi!
we will have a whip round car!
I am just kidding car, relax
tell the kids,if they do not quieten down, you will sell back some of their x-mass gifts so you can get a pair
I have to scoot, lots to do today. ((Hugs)) to all of you
I still think putting a sock in it would lower the volume
you guys, my sister is not amused with my shenanigans. we need to stop now!
No, I am fine with your shenanigans...I say have fun! I just say limit the broadcasting.
its only the CHOG - who can hear me? LOL
Where does one put a sock in a TV, BR? I will try it!
besides, no one takes anything I say seriously! IT's just DATING
But one never knows who is lurking....
http://www.bose.ca/controller?url=/sho\np_online/headphones/noise_cancelling_h\neadphones/index.jsp
opps sorry, should of tiny url,d that
unplug the tv
“THE continuous work of our life,†says Montaigne, “is to build death.â€
Then she will be very confused and frustrated that she can't get the TV to work.
wow, those headphones really are expensive!
No way I can get them.
Woot! Found ep 7/36...didn't know I knew such a fancy word!
they wouldn't be safe in your current situation anyway...that's the rub. You don't always want to hear them, but you NEED to hear them
Can the tv be moved into her bedroom?
Work has been slow...hubby has been suggesting I find new work.
they are expensive, but they will be the last pair you ever need to buy
It is in her bedroom.
it is in her bedroom br
look up online tutoring, car
can you shut the door?
Yes, but then we have feelings of exclusion.
I see these TV headphones advertised on late night TV where one spouse can have the TV turned up and the other one doesn't get blasted out of the room
don't know if they work or not but it's a thought
then it appears to me it is Trifs turn for a week
You know what...instead of sitting here whining about it, I am just going to get my big girl panties on, but on my damn headphones and get my work done. This is my situation and I have to make the best of it.
* put on
You're going to put panties on your headphones???
yeah i have headphones that you hook up with the TV and the person who is watching puts them on to listen - because if you're on a treadmill you would have to put the volume up sooo loud to be able to hear over it, and then you disturb people, so it's better to have it in headphones
absolutely br, and I have done so, in the past, but things have changed a fair amount, and it's not so easy to relocate her now
Hmmm...maybe that will help!!! LOL!
hey car - the lovely mrs. merritt just called, to see if I can do breakfast with the brits today, since I am not working - YAY! When is the last time I could do THAT?
Oh excellent!~!!!! Have fun and tell them all I say "hi"!
i absolutely will!
Tommy is coming today and hopefully the plumber too!!!! We are almost done!
my mrs is getting a pair for christmas as she loves dead silence when reading and often has to hide in the bedroom to read
oh, how we WILL sing the doxology then!
What a nice gift Crossy! {{Elegant}}
how long do you think will take her to remember the bathroom is fixed and she can use it again?
The bathroom is freakin' gorgeous! I want it!
No time at all. She still goes in there first and then to my bathroom.
oh, that is a relief!
we all get old ... if we lived that long
got the 9!
ooh, got the 8!
wow, there are some uncommonly found in babble common words today
Ooooh ! Stats please?
re9/66
BR, all I can say is pray to whatever god you believe in that this never, EVER happens to you.
ce8/45
Got it!!!!! TY!
green stalk veggies
Me to!
Whee! TY uusue!
Hello Bichon!
hello bichon
Trif...did I tell you we are getting a dog?
WHAT????? are you NUTs?
my Mom is 87 and she believes I am the only that understands her
hi Trif. What kind of dog?
No...listen....we are going to get a dog...not a puppy...perhaps a displaced one from the hurricane. Mom is going to be devastated when Lucy passes and we feel if we incorporate another dog into the house in the new year, it may lessen that shock and pain down the road.
only one
a displaced or otherwise rescued dog will very much appreciate that
ha, I got the 9 too!
interested in a Shih Tzu who walks on 3 legs?
you can do whatever you feel is right, but think long and hard on this one - mom does not do well with change, and you already have WAY too much on your plate. She may surprise you. We all thought jean would be lost with out Bobbie, but in a week she had forgotten him entirely
Thank you Bichon, but no.
good thinking, car!
petfinder.org is a great site for rescue dogs or other animals
We have thought about it and discussed it at length...still doing so. Nothing permanent yet.
make sure you have a foster option first - lucy does NOT do well with other dogs, and the stress of the two dogs not getting along will not help mom at all
As I said, this is for after the new year, when she starts going to CareWell a couple of days a week.
which will be a big enough change right there....
so i take it you two know each other for real
I know that. We are taking it step by step. Doing a lot of research. We will see how it goes.
who? trif and me? We are sisters!
I wonder if there is a governor that could reduce the volume.
we are sisters, hurshy
Ty Jeff!
yes, sisters who tend to forget that we aren't the only ones in the chog, sorry!!!
No way, BR! Governors don't know how to reduce volume!
hmm i either missed that or forgot it. with so many babblers i find it hard to keep track of personal information about them.
That's OK Hurshy! Me too!
don't apologize, trif, it's fun to watch the banter!
my sisters are not into babble :(
We have many "adopted" members of the coven....would you like to join?
that's ok :) thanks though
Hey....I had asked last week...has anyone seen "Science Geek"? I have been thinking of her and her grandkids.
Stats please for the second E from the middle?
I have et 5/14
ep 7/36
okay, im nbt, nbs, and over halfway, so I think I had better go add value before I leave for brekky. A blessed thanksgiving to anyone I might not chog with between now and then :)
ed4/6
I think that is the one that comes from there....
Time to do some real work. I would ask that everyone pray for our friends in Israel. Helluva powderkeg brewing there now. *POOF*
Bye Trif! Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
Bye Judi. I will. {{hugs}}
good morning all and how many words today and thanks
Got it! TY Hurshy!
Hi Steve! Good morning! 144
thanks Car!
i can reduce the volume by going to the system trey, clicking on the volume control, opening up the mixer and reducing the volume
That is one way, BR!
I should probably go too and get some work done before the workmen arrive. Have a great day everyone! {{hugs}} to all!
If anyone IS in touch with Science, please let her know i am thinking of her.
I am Babbling with little Watson on my lap. We are both keeping each other warm
re 7/40 is my favorite word in this grid.
hint for it BR, pls
that is the R i don't have!
re = prevaricate + electrical unit: **lt
whoa, weird one
Thanks BR
ty BR, that is an interesting word
looks like a Harry Potter spell
it does, liedola!
When I have heartburn, I'll take a re 7/40
Hello all! Help with the ep7 please...
a vulgar/swear word
Am I too much of a lady?????? Does it incorporate the letters from the ep4?
a term used to characterize a person or a thing, def for ep7
not necessarily vulgar according to my dictionary
just the first 3 Alleyn
it's not a swear word, alleyn, it just MEANS a swear word. or it used to :) can just be insulting too, i think, as peri is indicating
Morning, all...How is everyone today?
Thanks! So obvious with all the hints. Thanks
tough grid for me
bs
for B i have a hebrew letter - anyone got the other two?
... computer term ... 8 bits ... and plural
be back later
Thanks, Doseffing.
ah i forget to try Y!
the lower T is hard too.
dreaded 14! which = 90% today
list time
... 90% is always good
I still need 56...lol
clue for re9
so annoying when you LOOKED for a particular word, didn't see it, then you get the list and ultimately realize it IS there after all
re9 = look over carefully, again
Pretty smooth going this grid
i'm done. last clues before i bid you adieu?
Congrats, Hurshy!
... well done
what a re 7/40. hursh
ty hurshy got it
I am ok..but thanks..down to 37 now..lol
ttfn then!
Bye, Hurshy..take care.
140 going at it
And thats me done..take care, All :-)
Greetings wordnerds!
hi again all!
and yay for the finishers!
Back. Hi Sue. How are Frank and you doing?
hi scrabs, we are ok. Frank is doing a little better and may come home tomorrow.
Right now I am looking at pathology reports and have some questions for the doctors - the one from the colonoscopy talks about signet-ring cells, with pictures, while the surgical one doesn't mention them.
I googled signet ring cells and scared myself :-(
Do not hesitate to get a 2nd or 3rd opinion from another oncology team, especially at a comprehensive cancer center.
I think that is a good idea.
I would say it is mandatory given the diagnosis. Be an advocate for Frank. Know that the treatment plan chosen is truly the correct one based on the correct diagnosis and staging.
now I just have to figure out how to pay for it...
Sue, at this point, Google is not your friend. You will just end up getting worried about things that may not be in the forecast. As for payment, they will have to take payments as you can make them.
My friend's husband died of colon cancer after being treated and monitored in a nonaggressive manner despite my urging her to not be passive and just accept what the doc said.
Any serious diagnosis requires 2nd and even 3rd medical evaluations.
well, I start with google and wind up in medical journals, molly, I have a pretty good internal filter
I am also a bit suspicious of the diagnoses of two separate cancers
You need to speak with enough docs to feel confident in the management.
indeed, scrabs!
Two tumors or 2 different types of cancer? Perhaps same type of cancer with different degrees of differentiation.
two tumors, both adenocarcinoma, one in the colon and one in the small intestine, wrapped around each other
yikes, sue
OK, so same type of cancer but more than one area of growth.
right, scrabs
tumor pathology calls it mucinous but the pathology report from the colonoscopy (done at Quest) says signet ring cells, and has pictures of them
You have many outstanding resources on Chicago, so start making appts and getting pathology slides, imaging CDs and medical records to other docs.
the hospital path report doesn't mention signet ring cells
Know that the treatment plan chosen is truly the correct one based on the correct diagnosis and staging.
http://cancer.uchicago.edu/ <----this is where Frank needs to be seen, ASAP
How does a lay person do that?
http://www.lurie.northwestern.edu/home\n/index.cfm<---and here
Do what, BR?
Know that the treatment plan chosen is truly the correct one based on the correct diagnosis and staging.
Sign release of information forms for pathology lab, radiology department, surgeon, hospital medical records dept, etc
Hi All
working on it now, scrabs
Hi Hego
Hi Molly
Sue, text, e-mail, or call me for any questions as you navigate the labyrinth of medical care.
and Sue BR and Scrabs
is the 9 a compound word?
I have to get ready for an afternoon hike at a park. Ciao amici
I have gotten more than one opinion and there has been no consensus
ciao Scrabs
It's tough BR
bye, scrabs, have a great hike!
and thanks for all the help!!
I don't know how people manage.
It is vital to be an active participant when you are a patient, and at some point we are all patients, so be your own advocate and have your own advocate if you cannot do it
very good advice!
Oh, I can advocate
hi all
Hello, jmc
Hi JMC
Happy turkey day to you.
turkey day eve eve, no?
In case I don't see you.
ah well ty and excuse me for being churlish
No prob
and the same to you and everyone else here that partakes
: )
oppsie. someone put in an extra long website?
you have a too narrow chat too?
I thought it was just me.
it usually means someone wrote something without spaces
Aha!
it will go away sooner if we chat it up more! :-)
Did not know that.
hi all. any clues for the 8 or 9?
that is why people are encouraged to use tinyurl here
not me mkg. just starting.
just got her mkg
*here
the 9 is re9, to look over again
ok. got a seven that is all.
ok
I would not know a tinyurl from a doorstop.
i wonder if turkey will be in the grid thursday
the 8 is a type of vegetable, plural
Hi mael and ty.
hi hego! :)
it would be cute if it were but i think the grids are more a random progression
I am spending Thursday with my stove!
hi mael
i am spending thursday in a hotel with 60+ of my in-laws
mael what does the veggie begin with/
ce
Could be fun JMC
ty mael
hi jmc!
I;m stuck with my inlaws from wed night to sunday
it's not a veggie that you usually plural :)
i got it. ty
Have some in the fridge right now.
is this a vegge clue???????????? i am confused.
yes, for the 8.
ty mael that was a great clue
i need it for my famous cornbread dressing!
that is why i have it!
Mine isn't famous though.
what are first two letters please.
ce
is the vege used in corn breAD? i dont get it.
and it's a plural
got it. ty ty. wow didnt know it was in corn bread.
no, no. in Stuffing.
ok that makes sense.
: )
YAY! We got the chat back to normal.
yep only have to chat to get it back to normal
mmmh, stuffing
You're right again.
I am looking forward to thanksgiving
your cornbread dressing (in the south it was considered rude to call it stuffing!) is famous if you say it is hego! haha
me too.
lol JMC
<==jmcnrick is always right and never lies. . . .
mostly for the mashed potatoes and gravy, they're my favorite thing
hahahaha
I never got used to turkey, it's not something that I ever grew up eating so my first thanksgiving dinner was... underwhelming :)
do you remember firesign theater?
I wonder if I could a CD of it
no tacchino?
non al forno, no ;)
Fireside Theater?
we don't ever throw the whole big bird in the oven, really
oh, e vero.
Italians can make a whole turkey breast last a week!
great way to eat.
it was a comedy record. . . and one of the characters was always saying: I am always right and I never lie. . . Vote for something something Tirebiter.
I think the only time I'd ever had turkey was sliced breasts as cutlets
yup! :)
really mael? you don't have thanksgiving turkey?
JMC, i don't remember that.
well it may have been a cult thing but i see i can get mp3s (if i only knew how) and cds of it
Do you have Netflix?
Just realized there are no a's today. No wonder I'm doing okay.
no it was using up too much money. . .
true.
can you get mp3's from netflix?
no, itunes.
haha i am still stymied by the Es and i's
or Amazon is good.
me too.
JMC, I never had thanksgiving, period!
well i don't really need any such thing. . . better not to add any more time wasters/users to my life
mael are you not in the US?
I am now, but I only moved here 7 years ago from Italy
she has it now JMC.
oh I didn't know that. . .
and now that my husband and I cook thanksgiving, I'm getting used to it :)
i still prefer the sides to the turkey, but I'm told that's pretty typical
well i personally like thanksgiving . . . but not so crazy about it in a hotel
true mael
it used to be the big football day. . .
yeah, are you going to be far from home, JMC?
just up to the poconos. . .and my boy will be with me (and his gf)
that, at least, sounds like fun :)
the poconos are in eastern PA
well, that's nice.
what hotel?
it is. . .i generally like the family but just too many at one time and it is a 3 day long event
so I get worn out
Pocono Manor
hey je
I'll bet you'll have fun.
Hi TO!
hi TO
try to catch some breaks, JMC. Sneak out for a walk or something to recharge your batteries
haha tell you the truth Hego my favorite events are ones where i am the center of attention. . .
I am planning on taking a long walk. . . it is a wooded area and quite pretty
lol
porgy tirebiter btw
ty TO!
are you here?
i am at home
are you at the Pocono Manor?
no. but i was once upon a time :)
considering the Poconos for next year.

hubby's family has been going there for thanksgiving for 20+ years
oh that was when it was still run by the Quakers then TO
i don't rememer. i never knew that
- I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me. - by Allen, Fred A
hahaha
it was originally a quaker retreat center/spa but gradually became a hotel

loved Fred Allen!
ooh, is it time to post our favorite quotes? i canthink of quite a few right now

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today, will often be forgotten. I must tottle off as my sister is coming to pick me up for lunch. bbl

I need to go grab lunch too, I'll be back later :)
hello again
typing with one finger because i'm hoggishly eating cookies
good afternoon all - what kind of cookies ruby
Nothing hoggish about you Ruby. Enjoy : )
dutch molasses cookies that sprite brought when she visited. just finished the last of them.
but I had made a really good dinner, wasn't even hungry
I made soy-plum-duck
love cookies with molasses in them
cleaning out the refrigerator of leftovers so I can have room for all the Thenksgiving things
these are sinful
That is on my to do list as well, Teach.
nasty job -- always find spoiled veggies in the back or in the drawers
We are good little do-bees here and eat our vegetables. Never find any spoiled in my fridge, and I'm glad. I hate wasting food.
you deserve a gold star for that, molly
my husband does the shopping and always buys too much for us to eat
hence, rotten vegs lurking in the back
gretings netizens of wordiness!
right-hand column done, weee
don't think there is much spoiled - just need to eat leftovers for dinner tonight
stats for the 8 or 9 please
re 9 66 ce8 45
Ty, found the ce8, hunting the re9
Ty again, sarahm, found the 9 too
It is my humble opinion that the one who cooks is the one who should do the shopping.
and the one who cooks should be the one who eats, too! 8-D
the one who cooks doesn't do the dishes
Amen to that Teach.
yeah. in fact, i just ri5 the dishes, and don't do them till the next day. much less stressful that way, IMO
does the re add to aan existing word?
to, yep, it does
can you give the stats for that word pls?
um, in7/36
ty?
yw!
thnx book doc
and my new shiny phantom is septic
One letter too many
Phantom
yep, got the near word, thanx

man, I still have none of the Es on the left hand side
do you want stats?
yes please, peri!
not sure which of the bottom but here goes: et4/5 and et5/14
the top e is sea birds
erns
oh, duh, thank you
crap
there is also an ep4/6
thank you, I was really blind there
do you have at least one from each E square
yes :)
ok
Peri, what are you doing for Thanksgiving?
I will be here with my sister and her family and another two people from bro-in-law's side. not too bad. I can eat and then go right upstairs and have a gin and tonic :)
Ah, sounds like a lovely plan. : )
I was hoping they would go out with their other son and leave me here alone but that did not work out.
hi again all!
Hi Sue
hi there sue. how are you holding up? How is Frank today.
he is getting better, peri, now he is struggling with eating (psychologically difficult)
I can understand that from what you have told us.
I am working on getting him a second opinion from the University of Chicago cancer center as his cancer seems quite complicated
a 2nd opinion would be a good thing
he did have some broth, and some tea, and a tiny bit of yogurt, so that is good
that is good sue, small steps
36 left now
bbs
ce8?
plural of a vegetable you don't normally pluralize
ty mael. fireworks.
yay!
howdy all:)) back for a few more
got 18 left, I'm off to brine our turkey :)
suze.have you asked about ensure meal replacement drinks that are available at the pharmacy? they can give him all his nutrients while he still on a mostly liquid diet
Wow, I only brine mine for 24 hours. You must do 48.
my father ate like a bird after his lung cancer op and ensures did a good job of filling the gaps
f.i.l*
yeah, we're trying 48 this year. We got an heirloom turkey and they're supposedly leaner, and therefore benefit from more brining
ladies,i have never brined a turkey before(actually never heard of it before this) what are the benifits and what is the procedure?
catch you guys later :)
With only one refrigerator, I have a hard enough time juggling space for 24 hours. Maybe when I have two, I will try 48 hours.
it's moister, you plop the bird in salt+sugar+spices dissolved in water, and leave it to soak in the fridge 24/72 hours
we have our old fridge in the basement, that's where the turkey and the extra beer lives :)
Well, you get a 5 gallon bucket and you fill it up with water and kosher salt and a mixture of seasonings, garlic, celery, onion, syurp, etc and soak it.
interesting
A mael uses sugar. I use maple syrup. You can use any sweetener. Some people use honey.
pi 5/12 ?? the one that is second words after the pi 5/16
never heard of it..quite different indeed
*Ah mael
but i suppose it is like any other marinating, just on a larger scale
.....
Im back with my new car. YAY
yay annie
thank you, smom
SMom...p + people in Scotland call their wee ones ba****
Rhymes with c word that means stone piles
Wow Annie, good for you. I know the feeling of getting a new car after hanging on to an old one for a long time. It's the best. : )

Morning everyone
hello folks :)
howdy lynxx,kate
Good afternoon all.
just a quick hit and ru n for me today, less than an hour, but the grid doesn't look too friendly???
hi peach, hey there crossy
hi Cross...that 'brining' method is great for any whole poultry Cross...makes the meat much juicier
And good afternoon to lynxxx.
i will have to remember that
hi Peach
May I please have a clue for pi5-16? Thanks
would you like a slice of cake peach?
.. sorry - that was 5/14
Thanks anyway, Kate.
religious sincerity
just got started here, only have a few words so far
ty nrk
hi Gang
And Happy Holiday to All!!
hi Hego...well happy holiday for the US crew anyway
hi hego... big feast preparations underway?
yes, indeed Kate.
ty Lyn
what date is Thanksgiving?
so - weigh in on the brining of the bird prior to cooking it...
Thanks nrkii, that word has given me hives. The only religious word I can think of is with ous....and that isnt working.
they say it does wonders kate
Peach - there is a Y hiding in the corner
brining is wonderful and makes a big difference.
But I've read that Butterballs are brined already.
start with dessert, gapeach
I did do it myself once Crossy, it was great.
good advice Nrkii
end witht he last two letters of my original clue
i never heard of it until last year... maybe from the popularity of deep frying them instead of roasting... my mother used to soak in a bit of plain salt water for a couple hours, but said it was to get any extra bllood out of the bird
she was brining without knowing it!
no spices, sugar etc though.. and only for a little while
she wasn't a great cook
a couple of hours might make a difference.
Thanks so much, nrkii and lynxxx.
actually, she was koshering the bird
I did it for 24 hours, i think.
Yes Annie! And great to see you! : D
hi Annie
Must eat....bbl.
hego, and great to see you too, are you having a crowd on TG Day?
I don't buy Butterball turkeys. Turkey is a dry meat, so the brining really helps make it more moist and juicy.
hi lynnxxx, I picked up my new leased car today.
Just my kids Annie.
That's nice, hego.
yes, It's been a rough month.
We need a quiet day to bond.
Absolutely, hego
Sorry you've had a rough month, Hego. Hope you and your clan have a nice day on Thanksgiving.
ty Molly, you and yours too.
what fun Annie...just got a new (second hand) car myself after many many years...its such a treat
will send the thanksgiving fairy your way ((hego))
Yes, I decided to treat myself too after having the car totaled and a horrid time (weatherwise) here.
ty All, but we're good now. Things are getting back to normal for us, anyway.
It was very traumatic Annie.
So many lost everything. So we are very thankful.
Was your house affected by the storm, hego? We are working on generators here.
Yes, we have a lot to give thanks for this holiday.
Annie, you still don't have power?
my house is okay, but my son had to stay here for quite qa while..And now the power is back.
No power here. The transformers were in 6 feet of water and all the wires are wet. Thank God for generators.
WOW, hard to believe.
hego, I had to leave for 16 days. Stayed with my daughter.
How long has it been? That is difficult to beleive
We lost power Oct. 29th.
I heard that through Mom Annie.
Did you go to your daughters before the storm hit Annie
Over 3 weeks.
We were all worried about you.
Hard to believe, since most of it is surrounded by water, but New York was not built to deal with the storm surge it got.
No, foolish me. I stayed, no heat, water, electricity/ My daughter came to get us and we walked down 24 floors in the dark with flashlights.
Oh, my.
It was the storm surge that did us in. When I looked out of my window the ocean was below us.
oh goodness Annie....don't do that again!
That sounds like something out of a horror novel, Annie.
Are you still living in your apartment or with your daughter?
tonights din-dins is long grain rices soaked and prepared in lightly spiced beef broth then lightly fried them mixed with a california style fresh veggie medly, served with red angus beef tips braised in herbs and spices and onion bbq sauce
se 5?
Never. Liz wanted to get us before the storm hit but I decided to stay. I didnt think it would be that bad.
extreme weather - happening worldwide - something the whole world needs to get ready for - especially those living near sea-water
i am glad things are slowly coming back together for all my east coast babble friends, but still sounds like a ways to go
Im home, bichon.

Hello Babblers!
hello everyone
Hi trifioso!
howdy jilly,trif
this grid is snarky snark once you get past halfway!
Just started it...only have 36...
I have arrived at that VERY attractive stage where I just start typing in absolute thrashing nonsense, in any attempt to find a word
pi5/16, cannot see it on morewords
pi 5 16 - how holy one is
ah, ty did not see that y in the corner
just happy to know I helped!

Think you'll get them before me - we're off to collect some driftwood for our garden soon!
That sounds like fun, Liz.
Love combing the beach for shells and driftwood!
Prayers out for our friends in the Pacific Northwest. Nasty storms out that way. Including high winds and mudslides.
can't tell if i'm playing a game here or going to church instead...
hi all!
Hello!
RuRu...behave yourself!
hi jill!
you're kidding, jill :-)
FW!!!!! - those last few th words were very weird!
yay liz!
LOL..and again, what was the definition of insanity?
How did Frank do today with his new regimine?
WooT WooT WooT lizlin!!
he has barely eaten at all, jill, but they just took him completely off the TPN so maybe he will start to get hungry
ty. Just read the update Sue - I guess it will take a long time.
*fingers crossed* I agree with your thought that there is a psychological component to eating..
also, since he had an almost complete blockage for several months, (I am trying to put this gently) there is backed-up material that needs to get out, and that is starting (big time).
Good luck Sue - bye for now!
thanks liz!
Glad he's being kept 'busy'... ;-)
for firewords th 6/24?
th 6 / 24 ends with a tiny biting insect and starts with definite article
tiny biting insect?
means dogmatic
sheep and dogs get them
fleas? lol
or a facial spasm
tyvm Liz, finally firewords.
yay bichon!
Also took me a long time today!
WooT WooT WooT bichon!!
yay bichon!
Well, 20 left...bbl to finish...
Give my love and support to Frank uusue!
will do, Jill, thanks!
May I please have a clue for ti6-21? Thanks

And with that...need to *poof* , may bbl...
*waves good-bye*
guessing jilly is pooped out?
Probably so with all that poofing and repoofing.
Oh here we go again. Not being "great minds".
May I iplease have a clue for te5-12? Thanks
Plans changed so I'm back to help. te 5 /12 - insert a vowel into "not fat" then plural for te 6 /21
te + first three of Jones the film archeologist who went on adventures and used a whip.
I think that is the th5 Liz
I was looking at th sorry
lol - I pressed enter as your correction came up!
Thanks much, Lizlin and Molly.....was on the phone so couldn't get back right away.
hi again all!
Hey there, sue.
hi, peach!
How is Frank today?
getting better, peach, we may go home tomorrow afternoon!
gotta get him to eat, though
Oh, that is good news. Be sure to keep your strength up.....will you have some help?
oh yes, we have a lot of friends helping out, and we may get some home health nurses
Good. You and he will remain on our minds and will be sending energy your way.
thanks, peach! we have a lot of online friends as well, and you all mean a lot to us :-)
That's great Sue. I thought you might have trouble getting in home care with no insurance.
his insurance will cover it! Yay!
he has major medical, which we thought only covered hospitalization, but since he has cancer it will now cover all costs associated with the cancer, whether they are inpatient or not.
YAY Sue and Frank! Just arrived to this great news.
hello to everyone here as well
dp
Hi there, Bugs!
hi peach. I hope your day has been as good as uusue's
I am feeling better today, thanks Bugs.
It's beyond time for some good news in this chat log. Seems like it's been nothing but illness and storm destruction lately. *Sending out good news vibes to all*
Thank you, Molly.
hi bugs!
I got my haircut today and look much better than I did yesterday if that counts Molly ;)
Sure it counts. Glad you like your new cut.
Nice, bugs! :-)
Hi Sue. I feel so badly that Frank has so many emotions wrapped up in the getting well process. It must be very hard on you.
thanks, bugs. He's mostly in a pretty good place; justneeds to eat
doesn't he have favourite bland food that always helps? maybe a lick of two of pumpkin pie filling or pudding
I know someone asked about this earlier but I didn't see the answer. Is he getting Ensure?
Molly I think he has been on IV nutrition so he is not feeling the need to eat more than water. Ensure would
.... be a good start if he can have it.
Okay. I swear I thought I saw a post that said he was having broth and such things earlier.
he had some broth this morning
you could be correct. I only just arrived now. I sure hope so
but they just removed the IV nutrition a couple of hours ago
he is getting Ensure Enlive, which is a high-protein, clear version, the regular Ensure didn't use to agree with him and we don't want to risk a gluten reaction
that shud help uusue. he will feel hungrier and thirstier now
presumably with all the IV stuff gone he will get hungry and thirsty but I want to encourage him to eat and drink before it gets urgent
snap, bugs :-)
yes but it gets wearing to be a coach all the time. Men don't get sick very well
that is certainly true, bugs!! but I love him anyway :-)
yes, that doesn't stop even when you feel like yelling
well, he just ordered some food. Yay!
yippee sue/frank!
hey all ((bugs hugs))
hi stid!
Men don't get sick very well. That is the understatement of the year.
Hey, stiddie!
hey stid !! long time no chat. hope it is because you are busy with fun stuff
yes Molly, they even call it a "man cold" now
how is this grid? I had a terribly busy day, have been home for an hour and starting to think again
well, the conference this past weekend was most excellent, bugs! Yesterday I was "recovering" and today was spent "all about kids" LOL tomorrow as well.
not too bad so far stid
Hi. Just finished dinner and visiting on the phone with my dear Aunt. Time to chat and find words.
I'll jump in then, and see if I can get halfway before my brain conks out.
hi gmere!
Is this happy enough Molly? I did my pie crusts yesterday.
ni5-10 please.....thanks it's the very last word for this grid.
Hi uu. Glad to see you are aboard.
Hey there, stidgmere!
And I bet they are the best pie crusts ever, Gran Mere.
hello mother
cipe
oops....
sorry peach, don't have it
Hi mama.
Thanks anyway, Bugs
gmere! welcome to the chat
ni4 japanese immigrant?
Oh, How I wish you could have a taste, Molly. You rarely go to the penalty box and thus miss out on some stuff.
thanks for that one ruru
that's ni 5 sorry
Hi bugs!! Still waiting for a visit. Weather right now is blustery and reminds me why we say No, No, No, November.
I read your posts about your meeting, stid, it sounded very interesting!
I read there are big storms out your way Gran Mere.
his ruru
Is that like His Highness?
Yes. True Molly. We have a generator so any power outages will be a temporary inconvenience.
I meant Thanks ruru. don't know where the other came from
*smacks Molly with his sceptor*
he wud love that wudn't he Molly? ;)
Oh good Gran Mere. Glad to hear you are equipped for any big storms.
I would be a benevolent ruler bugs
We are advocates of the simple life but sometimes we wind up being a little extravagant, hence the generator.
Nothing extravagant about a generator. Not with all the money it can save you in spoiled food.
All rulers think they are benevolent ruru. Most are known by those they rule as Benevolent Despots
Now, that is a good point Molly. We do try to keep supplies in the freezer.
Ru, was that ni5-10? Thanks
And good wine for all in The Kingdom Of Ru.
All rules are by definition, tyrants.
is that anything like Home Despots?
hello... stidgmere, what sort of generator do you have? I am having a hard time deciding
hey doren
I have a cummings doren
hi stid.... how are you doing out there with the weather?
not bad.
is it whole house ru?
I liked their slogan.. yes the whole house
we have a honda generator, technically a portable, but it runs the well, the furnace and the lights, we have an extra plug at the power box to plug it in, and it's propane, so we have a line from our tank to the generator as well as the one to the house proper.
Dorens are you home yet or are you in the line up for house repairs. They never talk about that on the news
don't think i want to spend that much... what is their slogan? i have heard of hooking up an in line generator to the fridge and a few cords (space heaters, tv,s and the like) that might ddo it for me. Don't know how much longer i'm going to be in this house after retirement Yes, i'm in the house bugs. damage wsn't that bad
We have a Honda gasoline powered generator.
"I would rather be Cummings than Goings"
i want to get it hooked into the natural gas line. i hate dealing with gasoline (i'm a jersey girl. we can't pump our own)
you can get a generator like ours now for about $600, and it has served us well for over ten years.
oh, really? or are you just making that up
Run like a Deere, ruru.
however, next generator we buy will be the kind that is hard-wired to the house and doesn't need shlepping out with a power cord in nasty weather...
ours is tied to the gas.. that's the way to go
Wander into a generator store and just take a field trip asking about options, Dorens. Our motto, "It never hurts to look."
we have a big one,,, runs off the tractor JD.... but then we soemtimes have cattle to consider
it's times like these that a man comes in handy. i definitely need the hard wire if i live alone. and all the feminists can say whatever they want.
yup -- guess i'll join the hordes. I have been looking on line, but going into a store does make more sense. power mower stores, that sort of thing, i guess
I think Mr Bugs has lots of generators but they are all buried out in the shop. When the power goes out he doesn't want to go get them in the dark and cold so I have lots of sweaters and blankets
Exactly, Dorens. They have all kinds of power stuff in those stores.
rofl... practical Mr bugs...
guess i have my friday planned now. thanks
yw Dorens.
always glad to help with plans, doren... *wicked mama grin*
oh! ask about generators that do their own self-checks periodically... they need to turn over once a month or so, no matter what.
we have ours serviced
it runs a test run every wednesday
I sure like the security of having it.
especially in the HOT summer
i will. just looked at the local place's ads and the honda's look expensive. i suppose they have some in the store for less. and i do want one to test itself, cause i would surely forget to do that stuff
we take ours in once a year or two for a quick once-over, but mostly Tom can do it, no different from keeping any other small engine going
well, i have no tom. and i need it taken care of. just one more expense. oh well!
my dad's looking into generators too, Doren
wow. down to 57 already -- it's a pretty fast grid today!
I'm at 57 too, stid!
ni5-10 please......thanks
we're twins, sue!
btw, I put a box in the mail to you today, you should have it Friday I think...
oh, nice, thank you stid! We should even be home by then!
:-)
no bread, though -- Tom didn't bake this past weekend.
evening chillin's :)
that's ok, we don't really keep bread around much anyway
hi jes!
hey jes!
how's tricks?
Hi there, jes.
not bad, jes -- you?
Hello jes. Just visiting and as you say chillin
pretty well. Bruce made chicken tikki masala for dinner. it was yummy
Sound very delicious.
ooh, that does sound yummy, jes!
yum, indeed! the amazing bruce strikes again!
I'm wondering what he has in store for dessert :)
Mango sherbet?
No way Jes, not going there. : P
heh. I doubt it... though he did make mango ice cream a while back. sadly, it turned out kind of bland.
mango sticky rice?
the dark chocolate raspberry ice cream, on the other hand...
Will the ice cream melt by the time our plane touches down? This is the type of math problem they don't do enough of in school. A plane traveling at 500 mph leaves at 8:00. Does the ice cream remain solid when the travelers arrive?
heh. we'll keep it in the freezer for you, stidg, as you forgot to calculate the 90 minute drive from the airport.
Ah. That's why I am about 90 minutes wrong in my equation.
Good night all.
sleep sweet, stidg
hi all
night gmere!
and hi jmc!
hullo jmc :)
i made fried green tomatoes for supper myself
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today?
Bruce is making dessert...he hasn't announced what it is yet.
hi min
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
evening, min
nice he is cooking for you
having an e on the other side of that v would make it a much more useful tile
well at least there is an e on one side of it
Oh, jmc, FRIED GREEN TOMATOES!!! I do so love those.
me too. . .
<---Is going to start calling Peach Ms. Threadgood
Hi there, Min. Would you be so kind as to clue me the last word for this grid: ni5-10.....Thanks
strangely people seem to think they are hard to make. . .the trick being using really green tomatoes rather than partially ri**ned ones
is Ms Threadgood a character from the book molls?
May I have a clue for re 7/40 please?
hi car

well.. it kind of flushed out of her i guess
I tend to finish people off quickly
i suppose that's better than finishing yourself quickly...
absolutely
Jes has a point.
ugh i had two clients today say that a solution to their tax problem was suicide. . .
she was a bit premature
well.. that's one way to beat the IRS jm
you're assuming I finished, Ru... can't you tell I'm just warming up?
sorry, faded out there...
not really just leaves it to your family to deal with
not yet
welcome back, stid
hi stid
stats for the lower corner E please
Hello stidmama! How are you doing? Welcome back to grid
hey jmc, sounds like you are having interesting conversations...
???
et 5
ty ru
hello Min, how are you? do you teach a full day tomorrow, or do your kids get a half day?
*duh* fish me for that one ru
it's weird for me to clue that word.. because clearly I don't have any
945 and 946 posts, jmc.
but turns out the corner is et4 but it is similar to the et5
heh. you have a moral standing, ru... it's laying down. :D
ah well that's the tax biz for you
I'm VERY tired stidmama. I did not get home last nite until 9:00 and had another very long day today too.I did not get home until 7:00. Tomorrow is a half day, thank goodness!
I think it's sad we live in a world where people can feel that boxed in, jmc.
you don't know me well enough jes.. it's never laying down
oh man, Min -- sounds exhausting, indeed!
well if the first amendment protects the right not to speak you can protect the right not to have et5s
oh, rimshot!
why such long hours min?
she's a teacher...
people mostly box themselves in stid. . .
well, that's true too, jmc.
anyone want to talk about kittens and puppies?
both of these people didn't pay their taxes so now they owe more. . . it doesn't just go away
meow
Last nite I chaperoned a trip to a basketball game.I had a meeting after school this afternoon.I should be in bed now, but I had to say hello since I was not here last nite.
that depends, ru... what are you doing to them?
*suspicious mama look* MY puppy was very well behaved today, ruru... he didn't run away once!
oh jes! I would never hurt an animal
See? See? Even puppies and kittens are not safe.
it is nice that you are willing to do go that extra mile min
no, I don't think ruru would hurt an animal -- except if it was on the menu.
if it is on the menu it is to late to hurt it. . .
lol
stats for the V please
depends, jmc... ruru are you a hunter?
ve 4 and 5
lots of ve words, jmc...i don't have any of them yet.
me no.. I could never kill anything
.. maybe bugs
could never? under any circumstances?
okay -- I know people up here who really adore animals, genuinely, but are also hunters.
I don't see the connection stif
stid
... back to not laying down..
rofl ruru
Or hunting, but not animals.
*gasp* a split infinitive!
DON'T SHOOT RURU!
nbt
HA bugs
okay, my eyes are needing a break. back later maybe, tomorrow for sure. I had to write off work this entire week to take care of things at home.
hi bugs
*poof*
hi jmc. just got back from supper and see I need to duck
The basketball game was pretty awesome. It was not a real game. The players would play ten minutes at a time very ten minutes they would have a shooting contest on the floor and kids got to win pries. One student from my school won a bike & another student won a skateboard.
I don't get the hunting thing
g'night stid
hi bugs
wow those are some good prizes!
*quack quack*
what does the 9 begin with?
jmc is the room in your icon your kitchen? I once painted a room that colour and got it so much trouble. I still think it is beautiful
*gasp a dangling participle*
re9/66
hey jess
re
I was so happy for the kids.A lot of the students come from low poverty,so it's really cool when they win something BIG
it is my kitchen. . .how on earth did you get in trouble
yeah that is always special. . .
it was a rented house and the landlord said he would never be able to rent it again. The colour wud never be covered etc. He was very dramatic but I loved it
oh that is so silly. . .you cover it with a prime coat and then paint it the new boring color
I'm down to ten words left and I REALLY need to go to bed.
do you get to sleep in on Thursday Min?
sweet dreams Min
nbs
my great success stories for the day. . . .
Even though tomorrow is a half day, I still have to come home and goto doctor's appt and then I come home and have to start baking some pi 4/5 for Thanksgiving. I do hope to be back tomorrow night after all the baking.
No sleeping in on Thursday. I have to get up early to go to Long Island. Hopefully, I will be able to sleep in Saturday.
Goodnight all! If I am not here tomorrow or Thursday then Happy Thanksgiving to all babblers who celebrate holiday!
well i hope everything is okay on long island and you are a big hit with your pi***
hi minver and all,
Hello and goodbye harpjane! *POOF*
at the halloween party i went to this friend said she would do data entry and anything else for OTL so I called her last week and didn't hear back and I decided i would have to do it myself when she called this morning to say she had been out of town and is coming tomorrow to work!
bye min happy thanksgiving
good news for sure jmc. It is nice when people come thru
the second big success story is that when my roommate moved out she left these six bed lift things. . . and today in freecycle someone asked if anyone had 6 bed lift things
yes...i was feeling down in part because several people have offered help and not come through. . . so this was a readl lift this morning
we take our successes where we find them! hahaha
g'night, min
6 bed lift things...... we used to call them bricks
jmc, I just read your profile. What you are doing is so needed. Government does not work for the American public, but for special interest groups and themselves.

Well we used to be owned by the Copper Kings so we have personal experience....
nice post .. . .is that your nephew?
Seriously, check out the link. You'll enjoy it!
jmc do you have a website that goes into detail about this?? We helped get our state legislature incumbent reelected and he is a wonderful person. I would be glad to pass this information along to him.
He made the video but he's not the CEO or anything.
But the video was his brainchild! I think it's great!
i just wish i had enough money to get the word out that the constitutional amendment needs to be a little more nuanced than "corporations aren't people"
good video. . .i am sure you are proud!
anyway if anyone has a spare $500,000 I would be grateful
