Hi everyone:)

hey liz
hello liz
Ty for the clues rose :)
hi Liz
WTG WESTY!!!!!
Yay westy
np's liz
well done West
only meant I have one row across and one row down filled in..many more to go
the fun is in the finding
That's one row more than me in both directions though I have 1001 words!
No! 101 words
oh imagine if we had a grid that huge?
Lol
I should be wrapping presents but this is much more fun
Especially if the pressies are awkward shapes
well save the " WTG ' for when you finish....
Nest
Oops!
I know. I'm thinking of getting some Santa sacks and putting everyone's gifts in
the gift bags have gone sky high here
Tend to buy gift bags in the reject shop! Do you have that in the US?
we have something similar..called Building 19 but they have a weird oily smell
Never noticed that, so I guess they're ok here!
and they don't open very widely..good for a bread board but not much else
Oh we'll - guess you'll have to stick to wrapping paper!
it's just getting started that's the trick
21 at our house on Sunday
Good music and / or some good tv
Sounds busy but fun!
my darling husband put an old tv/vcr in the dining room so I can watch all my favorite Christmas movies while I wrap
what a sweetie
he is that flosey
Kind hubby!
I even found all the tapes
hubby wont have one in the living room - it's in the family room
:)
this is just an old portable
Haven't had tv since 1999
I should try to get a little one to have in the office
I have the tv on now and there's a program I've never seen called Posh Nosh..it's a kick
Still makes time pass faster, while wrapping!
afraid it might slow me down - depending on the programming
Bbl good luck with the grid and wrapping!
bye for now Liz
sometimes I wish we could get rid of ours bab..although the news will get through
I promise to do it tomorrow liz lol
flosey I hear you aren't going to cook for the holidays..lucky you !
yes, isn't that great, west
I bought a special apron for the male chef, plus Christmasy oven mitts
big question..who will do the clean up?
lol, have been wondering that myself
I really don't mind cleaning up..usually do it as I go
I don't mind washing the dishes after, but not the pots and pans
I do that too west
I don't put my good china in the dishwasher although some friends say they do
I do now but not the crystal
interesting, I do put the crystal in
am afraid the heat might fade the colour
I just keep the drying element off
ah, another friend does that
I open the door and let it all air dry..plus get a nice facial from the steam lol
lol, can see that happening
can be quite a blast
and fogs up your glasses too
yes, could even clear the sinus (es)
the all purpose dishwasher
lol
is William full of excitement this year?
before the DW, there was always help and a lot of chatter during wash time
I remember those days
we are very excited - they're coming over this Friday (staying 2 weeks) so the 'men' of the family will go up to the mountain property to find a tree
won't that be fun
hubby is really looking forward to it
a freshly cut tree will make your house smell divine
what a beautiful memory for William
and all of you too
that could take about 3 or so hours
that's what they're hoping, I can't remember just how much a 3 year old remembers
just between you and me the women are smart to stay inside where it's warm
and we can have a nice tea and chat uninterrupted
sounds heavenly
you mentioned the chatting during dishwashing..one Christmas at my grandparents all the men did the dishes..my mother has a snap shot as proof
really looking forward to it, it's been so long - back in Ont. she and I would have tea when she came home from work around 3 or so
I bet that was a hoot
it was..aprons and all
what fun, don't believe that has ever happened in my lifetime
if I remember correctly there were about 7 of them
wow, even some to put things away
both my parents came from big families
mine did too, 8 in both families
you must have had loads of cousins
yes - we were the oldest on Mom's side, we were closer to those relatives
Soodle from Ireland said she has 100 first cousins..what fun !!
Mom's mom lived closer - in fact next door for a while
so did my grandmother
oh my, would be hard to keep track of them all
I think she said there are some she's never met
I miss the big family Christmases
Daughter posted on FB our wedding picture on our 50th anniversary, a cousin I haven't seen in 40 years saw it and wrote to me
but my cousin is doing an Open House on Christmas Eve so it will be like old times
oh isn't that nice
last time I saw him was at his wedding
wont that be great
lots of the cousins are not in the area but it will be fun to see the ones who are
2 of our daughters are on the west coast..I think next year we'll go out
a group of my cousins were planning a get together last time I was in Ont. but I came down with a cold and had to pass on it - hoping to see them all next time I go back
flosey when was your 50th anniversary ?
2011
oh sorry I missed saying Congratulations..
did you do anything special?
August, had a brief honeymoon in the Adirondacks and then drove west in time for hubby to get back to U - he still had 2 years to go
had taken a few years off, fortunately, since that was how we met
and it all seems like yesterday, doesn't it?
we had some friends in and a chef prepared the meal and even cleaned up the kitchen
yes, in many ways, but a lot of water under the bridge
and in your basement too lol
lived in BC for first 5 years, then back to Ont. for 30, before retiring here
we've driven through Ont. but never stayed..going to Quebec City in Aug
not here, fortunately - actually, we don't have a basement here but in Ont. we did have moisture - wasn't a useful basement just contained the furnace
that will be interesting West
I regret never having seen the east coast - in all the years I spent in Ontario
but didn't you have some kind of flood..maybe the freezer melting?
oh yes, here we did
it was a problem with the filtration system
it's really a beautiful place..but so is the west coast
oh yes, that was it
I love both
if I remember you came home from bridge to find it
our oldest daughter was in Seattle but has now moved to Bellingham
yes - hubby went downstairs and discovered it - fortunately, otherwise by morning it would have been a dreadful mess
our basement flooded so often I bought myself a pair of wading boots on eBay
because every time it happened he was away on business
wow, our downstairs is actually ground level on front and one side, built into the hill, the door is on the upper level at the back
of course, there are 2 doors to the outside on the lower level
oh my, so you had to deal with it yourself, tough
did you build when you moved there or is it the family home?
wish we had been here! we had it built to 'lock-up'
mainly I had to wade through 3 or 4 feet of water to get to the sump pump..the joys of an older home
we had a trailer that we camped in for a couple of summers before moving here
bet that got old
our home in Ont. was very old - thus the useless basement
but one day it occurred to me to call the fire department..such cute guys
sure did - hubby's bro. asked for it, I said as long as I can't see it - ha ha ha it sat in the middle of the field - he owned the property next to ours
and of course they had the water out in a jiffy
fortunately now it has been sold and we have great new neighbours
well, you sure are smart, that would never have occurred to me
I think I read about it in our local paper
we had lots of snow and the water came from the snow melting..poured right in through the fieldstone
still I miss that old house
we have a fire station just down the road (we live on the main road) travels from south end harbour to north end harbour and beyond
I hope you never have to use their services but it's nice that it's so close
I can't say I miss the old home, but we did have many great times there - the girls were born in Ont.
do they remember it?
been there west, we had a fire in that house - hubby drove up the street (from work) and discovered the firetrucks etc all there
oh yes, the kids all went through school in Ont.
were you at home at the time?
we were there for 30 years
when he drove up and saw the firetrucks?
no, I was working late that night, they phoned me to tell me not to go home, to come next door
what a phone call
and what a sight for him to see
it was frightening
but we were amazed at how well the insurance looked after everything
do you know what caused it?
every article of fabric was sent out to be cleaned,
couple of rooms totally redecorated
that smoke gets into everything
yes, we had a chimney from a closed fireplace in the livingroom that was inspected and approved
good insurance company
but apparently the heat eventually charred the wood in the floors - 3 of the kids were home and acted very promptly - smoke was seeping through the floor/wall seams
bless those kids
on damp days for quite a long time, we could still smell the smoke
yes, one called the FD and another ran downstairs to turn power off
in was in January
we were put up in the local Howard Johnson - which was just a couple of blocks from the house
we had 3 rooms and ate all meals there (that got tiresome)
the ins co really came through for you
I was going to ask if you all had to be in the same room lol
they did, we were well looked after
there was only one article that wasn't returned from the Cleaners - daughter had a fur and leather coat - they did replace it, but assumed it was an employee
oh too bad
was it a special favorite of hers?
my wedding dress was no longer white - smoke damaged, became beige
I didn't want to see it again
she was good about the coat, just replaced it
your wedding dress..what a shame
don't know that any of the kids would have worn it - I was very slim
daughters were both slim but don't think they'd have fit into it
the least they could have done was send you to Paris for a new designer gown
good morning Babble friends
good morning Sprite
hello Sprite
don't very often see you at night (here)
such a long time
hi flosey and west :)
wow, didn't realize the time, I'd better be getting to bed
great chatting with you West
night flosey
it was great chatting with you too..we hardly get to do that much any more
we sure tied up the chog for a while
enjoy the grid Sprite
I think everyone must be alseep or at work
thanks flosey
sweet sleep west
think I'll turn this off tonight, just in case of another power failure
You too flosey
I'm here if you want to talk sprite
:D Always up for a nice chat
how are you doing with the grid so far?
it's been so long since we've been on here together
true :) How have you been?
I still have 27 to go..not paying it much attention
been okay..lots of sad stuff going on
in general, or also in your personal life?
actually getting excited about Christmas..
wow nice! I am not, but that is normal... I don't like Christmas much.
mostly in general but lost two aunts within 6 weeks of each other
am so sorry, west. And so close together... that is so very sad.
You know I really do like it but not the getting ready..I need to be rich enough to hire a staff to do all the decorating and cooking
lol! If I were that rich, I'd take my family to the Caribbean for Xmas.
they were both great ladies
now that's an idea !!
:D
we'd make it a Babble meetup, west, lol.
absolutely !!
back in a few, need to go to the lil gals room
I'm anxious to hear how Ruby's London trip went
not a bad idea sprite lol
+back... yes, so am I
probably needs to rest up a bit before coming back on line
{{{spritey}}}
hiya rose *hugs*
how have you been, dear one?
doing well, my dear. back at work, doing 7 hour shifts. and you, hn?
wow, impressive, rose! And how is that schedule for your body? And mind? I am pretty good. Therapy is going well and at home with my son there is some progress.
lovely, hun. do so hope it continues so. am using the 'pain away' cream. posterior tendons are quite tight due to all the exercise.
*sends mellowing vibes to the tendons* I hope it helps (the cream). Still doing exercises?
ruby??? in london??? must get onto the email and find out how she went. hydro finished, concentrating on increasing hours until i reach the 10 hours. i need to build stamina now, endurance and range of movement all good.
ok :D Well done! And keep on stretching those tendons.
yes, ruby has taken a short holiday from home, went to london, went to a party even :)
Hello,All :-)
will do, dear fiend. are you managing well?
hey zozz
um, * zooz
hiya zooz :)
Ruby was on babble yesterdy.
yeah, managing ok. Pain is bad at the moment, but not surprising with the weather what it is. Taking things slowly does help, even though that takes more patience than I have, lol.
so she made it back home safely?
Yes, she came back a day early as husband was struggling...but she was fine with that.
lol, know what you mean. still taking it slowly at work. colleagues are all very supportive, and allow me the time i need.
sounds ok, zooz. Thanks for the update :)
thanx zooz.
Yw.
wtg on your colleagues, rose. That makes it much better.
and how are you yourself today, zooz?
lol, have my personal ice pack in the drug frig.....which they know...and they also are watching me closely...tell me if i am limping...suggest pain killers and/or ice pack.
wow that is great, good feedback is worth a lot.
I am well, thanks for asking, Spritey..and if i may say even though it is none of my business..but i am very pleased for you that you are sorting things out with your son..teen years are hard on all the family..lol
of course it is a bit your business, since I share a part of in in chog :) Thanks for caring, zooz, and I agree - tough on the whole family. We try to take special care that our daughter isn't snowed under... it happens easily when you don't watch.
too true, sprite..too true.
tonight another session with the counsellor. Glad to be able to report some progress!
Progress is normally very slow..but at least it is in the right direction.
very true. We now know what is troubling him. Solving those issues isn't that easy and some of it we can only watch, but at least now he knows we are there for him. I wish I could still make the bad things go away with a kiss and a hug...
yay, spritey.so pleased that you all are making progress.
:) Thanks for caring, hun.
did you all find so many phantoms today as well? I am drowning in them.
Yes i am sure a kiss and a hug would be a nice gesture..but it is never enough when things are not going right...besides it must be hard for someone his age to show that type of effection towards parents..they try and cope on their own..trying to be a man i suppose..not sure if that made sense..lol
and spritey...no amount of kisses and hugs make the bad stuff go away. just be there now....that is what is important
I have seen a few phantoms so far..lol
it does, zooz, and it is very true. My son told me he was trying to be mature, and was finding it was very hard... I was glad to be able to tell him he did not have to be mature, just 16... and that he had a long time ahead of him in which he is still allowed to practise being mature.
I am sure you are talking about my 30+ son Zooz..not a teenager. Evening all
good morning all, please can i have a clue for the 9
hey lyn
I know, rose... sigh... so very true and so very hard.
Hello, Lynxxx :-)
hi lyn :) xxx Lol... yeah, probably too. Some things don't change much, do they? ;)
hi Jjenny, don't have it yet, sorry
jenny, pe7, domestic animal + first vowel + emergency signal
pe9, plural pe7, add wind direction
a greek traveler's hat. Sure. I knew that. (NOT)
and thanks rose :D
Hello, Jenny.
Pe7 found..thanks, Rose.
np's sprite and zooz
with 27 left I have come to a grinding halt here
time for meds, will be right back
I am struggling with the wind direction part of the clue..lol
zooz, not west north
Oh duh..yep got it..thanks!
yay zooz
back :) I see you've been go4 in my absence...
sorry, had to answer door just as I was about to say thank you for the 7 and 9
wb Jjenny
yay jenny, you got them?
How is the Oxford weather treating you, Jenny?
We have blue sky here..for the first time in ages i might add.
how lovely, zooz! Going for a walk later on?
The sun is shining and it is looking quite nice out there, I haven't been outside yet.
I will be...going to see parents later..see if they need anything...then a bit of shopping..thats about it for the day..lol
sounds like enough, zooz :)
sritey...managing for the most part with ibuprofen. only taking paracetamol and codeine when at work. no more oxycodone or anti-inflammatories.
ah... second wind
I have put lots of bird feeders up in the garden and meal worms on the ground...i have soo many birds in the garden it`s fantastic to watch.
wow, go4 for you, rose! Especially the last part. Well done!
oh lovely, zooz. Ruby's husband does that too. It is amazing to see.
oh zooz...so nice. we have young magpies learning to warble...can be very funny at times, their voice breaks, just like a human teenager.
awww
LOL..not heard of that before, Rose..don`t get many magpies in this garden.
Silly question time...how come i have never seen a baby pigeon?
pigeons start out as little rats
I started feeding the the doves in my garden and was getting about 7/8 at a time...then found out they were spotted turtle doves - very romantic..then read a bit further and found out they were an introduced domesticated bird and more than a bit of a 'pest'. Now I feel guilty for encouraging them
LOL ((Sprite)p
:)
sprite, it is so laughable, in the middle of a lovely song, a squawk....
aw lyn, too bad!
the magpies we have here Zooz are not the same as the European ones - our are nice!
They are beautiful birds though, Lynxxx no?
very sweet Zooz
well... isn't that something. Second day my final word is the ubiquitous babblet to4/4. I feel stupid.
we ave a mated pair of wood pigeons in our backyard.
WTG Sprite!!
Congrats Sprite!
can I help with any clues before I go?
WTG SPRITE!!!!
thanks :)
Not for me..but thanks anyway, Spritey.
mmm we don't have wood pigeons down here - but we do have crested pigeons - which make a lovely woop woop noise when they take off somehow
and not for lyn either... anything you want to have clued, rose?
last year the pigeons brought their fledgling into our yard....it fell off the back of the chair it was sitting on. we laughed until we cried.
finished, thanx spritey.
wtg rose! *hugs* to you all then, have a grand day and/or a peaceful evening.
bye Sprite
Those are the time you wish you had a video camera to hand, Rose...lol
and you dear friend.
Take care, Sprite.
I hate the baby bird thing, you never know when you should interfere
oh yeah, zooz. like the time a flock of rosellas flew overhead. one of the babies flew into the guttering. we had a very stunned bird sitting in one of my roses, wondering what it had hit.
a baby magpie fell out of a plane tree in front of our place and a youngish girl took it home to ring Wildlife rescue...I read later that you should leave it in a bush nearish the nest
True, Lynxxx they look so helpless but they say do not touch unless it has been left alone for a loooong time..but very hard not to want to help.
hahaha...we used to get that type of thing, Rose...birds would wash in the bird bath the fly right into our window...lol
You would here the usual *donk* sound then a dazed looking bird.
and then there was the time mother and baby possom fell ouut of a tree. mother made it back up into the tree...baby was stunned. used gauntlet gardening gloves to lift baby back into tree.
this is making me remember to look up what domesticated ducks eat...we had one white duck, then two, and the other day another 4 turned up...all on the canal near us. BBS
aww sweet, Rose..hope the mother thanked you..lol
lol, not that i remember, zooz
oh great - what NOT to feed domesticated and wild ducks - Bread - guess what everyone feeds them
If they are anything like the ones around here, Lynxxx they eat almost anything...judging by what people throw to them.
Well they seem to thrive on bread...how strange.
mind you, passing motorists were probably wondering what a teenager( my 14 year old) was doing on a step-stool out the front of our home.
We get all sorts in our garden....magpies, greenfinches, goldfinches, chaffinches, sparrows, wood pigeons, blue tits, great tits, long-tailed tits, collared doves, you name it
besides pellets - tomatoes, eggs, cottage cheese, snails, worms
Oh, and robins
And starlings
That sounds wonderful, Movieman.
I get the same robin come into my garden...even right upto me.
hi MM
Cheese?...really.
Hiya all
cottage cheese though
wonder what is inside the pellets?
Probably breadcrumbs..lol
lol, zooz, one spring we had a baby magie...it would walk through our garage, from front to back, and then stand beside me, to check out what i was digging up as i weeded the back garden.we called it dingbat.
not sure, but don't think I will start buying it...6 white ducks down there but also around 80 native ducks (and not forgetting pigeons and seagulls)...it would be like Hitchcocks "the Birds".
Waiting for those juicy worms you were digging up...they know a good meal when they see one, Rose.
hope you aren't referring to me, zooz. rofl
must have thought Rose was their personal waiter
True, Lynxxx once you start..they will be depending on your handouts.
yeah, lyn
HAHAHA, Rose...what are you like :-)
well, not so slimey, i can assure you
and slightly larger.....
I give the birds in my garden fat balls...but they do make a hell of a mess on the ground.
I am a bit wary about asking you what *** ***** are?
lol...((Rose))
lol...they are seeds mixed with fat...so they can take all day pecking at it to get at the seeds.
oh? what sort of fat - lard? and you make them?
You ladies are terrible..lol
ahhh, that would be because we live in the antipodies?
You can make them..but i am lazy and buy them...so no idea what fat it is.
and what ladies???
We also feed our birds fat balls, along with sunflower hearts, niger seed, and mealworm
lyn, you see a lady in this chog?
And peanuts
Ok it is time for me to soak in the bath and get ready to see parents...been great talking to you guys.
later, zooz. have a go4 one
Just checked- the fat seed balls are a UK thing - we don't do them here
Bye Zooz - have a great day
and mm...nice to see you again.
nearly 10pm here...think i need to go...see you all at the flip. happy babbling to all.
OK - and the fat part is to keep those poor cold english birds healthy during the cold winters. Which is why we don't need them
night Rose
night lyn....massive yawn here
and I need to get back to some work...bye MM
We had sad news last week, our cat Arnie developed lymphoma and had to be put to sleep.....he was 11 years old.....still a bit choked up about it
I am sorry MM...always so hard to lose a pet. and esp when they are still quite young
too sad, mm. it is never easy to lose an animal we have cared for, for so long.
bye again
mm, cyber hugs, mate
seeya lyn

Hello, Annie
Hello BR, lurking for a bit
Hello BR, lurking for a bit
Observing
Now I am going to start my Mr. Coffee, be back soon
Good morning everyone!
Hello, Car
Hi car......would anyone like coffee?
Tough loss for the Patriots.
Just made a cup, but thank you, Annie!
Oh BR...it was punishing. Thank goodness we went to LAST week's game!
My poor 10 year old is terrified to go to school.
Oh car., so many children are traumatized by this unspeakable tragedy
:(
I understand completely. They are opening another school in a nearby town.
I KNOW he has to go back today...but my mama bear wants to keep them home.
bichon, are you near Newtown?
I imagine there will be counselors at school to speak to the children
Oh yes...we have gotten all sorts of emails and plans in place....
hello everybody
((ruby)) welcome home...
{{annie}} thank you
I still haven't read the newspapers, only have had glimpses of the incredible tragedy.....
Unimaginable
hi all, help with the pe9 pls
good morning everyone ((Hugs))
Morning Peri, just starting here but I can help you look
89 and nbt, just no 9, like peri (and hello to peri and mom)
((Ruby)) hello, so good to see you
thank you, mom
((Mom)) Thank you for the cheerful HanuKah card
you are very welcome Annie ((Hugs)), good morning
Annie, I hope all is well with you. Are you running on a generator?
Yes, we are still running on generators.
oh dear
that's unbelievable, annie
tones stone tone
sorry
It has been 5 weeks so far. It is costing the co-op $20,000 per generator per week. The new wiring and transformers are $5,000,000 per building x 5 buildings
how about the pe9, dpom
have those, dpo
where will they get the money, annie?
ruby, How was the party?
thanks dpomfr and hello
it was all wonderful, lots of intense and interesting time with the family, good food, etc. but I just couldn't bring myself to stay that extra day as husband was in a sorry state here
The word is the insurance company but we have a $1.5 million deductible. Maybe FEMA will kick in some money. I just hope our maintenance doesn't skyrocket.
coming home a day early cost almost as much as the total trip!
okay .... for the pe 9 .... animal activist group pe** + a fragrant flower usually sent on Valentines Day change the first letter to a S
oh Ruby, sorry you had to come home a day early
I hope Mr. Ruby wasn't ill
wow, thanks, Mom
he couldn't work the stove, the phone or the TV
my pleasure, Annie
I GOT THE 9 ALL BY MYSELF! It's sad how thrilling that is...;)
I don't think he ate

Good morning Mom, and all!

Didn't see the clue. Will try: Those animal lovers, then a mayday call, then plural.

ruby, like Mom said..animal group that doesnt want anyone to wear fur and then I have my pet neur****
<-- British bye makes me sad!
London is fabulous but somewhat overwhelming. You can walk fron one end of Manhattan to the other, same with Paris, but not London!
Feeling a great sense of accomplishment, so will leave it for now and bbl for last 45. Good luck all!
yay for champ!
Ruby, just reading back ... seems Mr. Ruby is quite dependent on you
thanks champ and bye
bye bye Champ, make it a great day
yes, I won't be able to ever leave him again; he just can't manage
and just where is Peri, since she was the oe who asked for the pe clue.
he is in his 80's, correct?
calling peri....she'll probably say "NM" lol
oh dear, I hope I haven't aged him
:-) Ruby
he's 87 and surprisingly healthy
Phew, glad I didn't age him. I thought he was a considerable bit older than you.
but can't do stuff like open packages, anything requiring small motor capabilities and his memory (short-term) is gone
and you are nearer my age (55)
bless his heart
I'm just a kid by comparison, hahah
no, almost 70
no way!
{{RUBY}}
hello mimicat
but at the party, those flatterers kept saying that I didn't look old enough to be my nephew's aunt, more like his contemporary! made me feel great
I bet it did
{{mimicat}} I owe you a letter and will write it later today
still catching up
nephew's wife is a psychotherapist and many of her (female) colleagues were there, so the group was very interesting
He cannot open a package but is driving.
good morning BabbleRabble
I try not to think of that, BR, but I haven't the heart to take that away from him
Hello, Mom
he does the grocery shopping and it gives him a feeling of accomplishment, I think
oh look, just found the group of donkeys haha
happily, he took good care of the dogs
didn't see those, mom
:-)
and those nice donkeys gave me the other a's
me too
see you later, folks, have to go and check on husband and fireplace
take care, Ruby ((hugs))
{{mom}}
Talk to you later, ruby. ((hugs))
later, ruby
{{anie and mimi}} and a hug for BR, too!

good morning all - trying to fit in some words while cookie baking
i think words & cookies are a good combination.
well, i'm done. are there any clue requests before i leave?
hi all
don't rush away!
that's not a clue request :)
hi tc i haven't seen you in a while
well i just sat down and need to see what is here before i can request a clue dear! haha
i got the 9 from molls
:)
hmmm the letters i need for nbt were predictable
stats for the O singleton please
how are you doing hursh . . . i feel like i never see anyone anymore but then i am not playing much this month what with my cat going insane and my sister having surgery. . .
os4/4
ty molls
How is your sister doing JMC?
haha i should have gotten that one. . . nbt
she is fine and already crabby and tired of being cooped up
your cat went insane?
but her daughter is coming down next weekend for her (my sister's) birthday so that will make her happy
i'm doing ok. my cats have always been insane. :) well two of them.
yes. . . first she refused to come to the second floor for two weeks and i traced that to the fact that i was poisoning us both with carbon monoxide poisoning. . .
wow, well that was fortunate that it led you to the discovery then
where was the CO coming from??
then after i got the furnace repaired she started to refuse to go on the first floor which created major logistic problems since her food and the door outside and her. . . pee place were all coming on the lower levels of the house
a stopped up chimney with a hole in the stack into the basement
yes the dear save my life probably. . .i was slowly being poisoned
hmm so why did she refuse the first floor then?
she seems to be overcoming whatever was the problem with the first floor and i moved a kitty litter box up stairs. . . fortunately i was painting upstairs and she only peed on the plastic. . . a well mannered cat
no clue hursh. . . i would bring her down and she would immediately jump on a table or a higher chair and wouldn't even come to the floor to eat. . . for a couple of days
once, my cats had a litterbox issue because i have cat genie which is self-washing, water comes in and cleans it, well it clogged and didn't drain and i think i was away or something - they peed in boxes with packing material, plastic bags, anything that was laying around like that - very thoughtful indeed
now i have TWO cat genies so we're much better off.
i would leave her sitting on the table for a while and eventually she would jump off and streak to the stairs and run up to the second floor. . . i would throw her out side during the day but i worried she was not eating
poor kitty
now she distains to come to the floor long enough to eat and to come over to my chair but she is still running like mad!
it was very stressful for me and my sister kept saying to take her to the vet and i thought What could the vet say other than she was nuts?
anyway we seem to slowing moving past whatever scared her so i am relieved. . . still throwing her out today
you never know, vets know things
what was on my first floor? that would take a physic not a vet
what are the beginning letters of the 7s please
pe

nbs
ooo a good lawyer word. . .di5/14
alas duty call. . . i must go by the fixings for my famous bourbon balls. . . my version of baking christmas cookies since i do not bake. . .

Hiyas, kids!
hello judi
hello friends
any clue for the PE7?
babbling at the center today. Somberly glad that I dont have to visit a school today, usually one of my favorite things
pe 7 - singular of the pe 9 (i think)
hd the 9 and now the 7 tks wv
yvw
Um, Clue for pe7 and/or 9, please?
Hey Judi, where in Israel do you live? I live in North Jerusalem.
Actually, I live in the U.S., Mich. I just have a flag up there for solidarity purposes. :-)
Go girl, I am with you!!
Rest assured that many, many Americans are with you Michnick.
That is so good to hear, you'd never know it from the news media!
No kidding. Don't get me started on our dip stick of a President, either.
Don't believe what you hear on US news! Most of us support you.
I see we see eye to eye on many things. There was a massive push for US citiizens in Israel to send in absentee ballots. We realize that we won't change the election (absentee votes are only counted if there is a close race ora doubt) - but we wanted our voice heard.
Yeah. We got your back, Mich.
pe7....still no clue1 is it a third letter t/
amen to that.
That is so great to hear, cj.
Oy, I'm getting teary now!!
done ............
I just wish we protected ourselves for the terrors in our country. We send our millitery to
And, that Iron Dome you guys have is AWESOME! We need that for our border with Mexico.
didnt mean to hit enter
to 150 different countries and cut our police officer budgets by half
I bet if our Presidents kids school was attacked, they, if not already, would have armed guards in civilian cloths all in that school.
Ironically, I was told that the Israelis brought the iron dome to a military supplies show in Germany (?) well, somewhere in the EU. The other nations were awed but asked, if you are being attacked by air, why don't you just send in a military response? When they realized it was Israel, they all understood.

Good, now if we can just get assault guns and large ammo magazines banned...*sigh*
well i think reforming the ability to run these ads and contribute to politicians without limit is a round about way for that too
True, plus we MUST address help for parents of high need kids...

It should never have come to this....

Mine is apophasis
haha some years ago i went to a halloween party in a white dress with pink flowers all over it. . .as an incarnation and when people asked me why i was not a reincarnation i said that i could not figure out how to dress up as an australian sand piper or a re. . . i got that word from crossword puzzles!
Well, pl must be different, I saw 2 of them (actually stopped the car to save them when crossing) in Hawaii last month

Hello lizlin, you are you today?
Hi - all's good here - and with you?
10 left!
Banner Monday at work, two add-on emergency cases...but home now, feet up and going out for sushi tonight!
Sounds yummy - a good reward after a day at work!
Nothing like raw fish after a hard day at work. Urp.
Sorry Molly, it appears you are outnumbered...teehee. I have been eating sushi for almost 40 years.
Outnumbered?
Me and lizlin...
52....
8 - took me ages to find go 4 /10 - even tho the score should've made it easy!
Had the most amazing salmon and tuna sashimi at my uncle's 70th a few years ago - can still remember it very clearly :)
I'm always struggling with those 4 letter words that are in a square....like eo4/4
Sounds yummy!
I got that one late - I could've sworn I'd put it in when I put in the ae word!
That's when I saw it too, whenever I see ae I just put it in without looking...
28..
*sigh* I so hate putting in derogatory words...
1
Go lizlin!!

hi all!
Hi uusue! How goes it?
Hi Sue - how are things today?
pretty good, Jill, we had a long orientation with the cancer center today
Frank starts chemo on Wednesday
Good that the wound is healed enough for the chemo to start :)
Great!! He needs to boost up his protein and calories...
yes, I just fed him some chicken soup
The cure for all ills!
<-----!!FW!!
yay jill!
"Jewish Penicillin!"
Congrats Jilly :)
Okay, hate to leave all this good company, but off for dinner!
Have a good evening - time to get the day started here. Bye all :)
bye liz and jill!
good evening all - hello sue
hi wv!
hello sue
hows your day going
ok, wv, we had a long orientation visit at the cancer center, and they really seem to have thought of everything
thats wonderful that they inform you so thoroughly - where is it located
right next to the hospital, about 3 miles from our house
even better that it is right there
indeed. We are a smallish town, but with a university, and not far from Chicago. so there are a lot of resources nearby
didn't know if you would need to travel in to Chiucago
we are also a small town with the university - and with all the problems of the university (and students) it is really nice to have the advantages that are available
I took him to the University of Chicago for a second opinion, and it was good to be able to do that - it's about an hour and a half drive - but I'm happy that we don't have to do that too often
our local cancer center is affiliated with Loyola and also with the University of Wisconsin (which is about 2 hours away)
those are special resources to have
indeed they are!
am I remember ing from the earlier chog that Frank starts chemo on Wednesday
yes, and then every week thereafter for six months
he gets Erbitux (monoclonal antibodies) every week, and then every other week he gets FOLFIRI, which is a combination chemotherapy
will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers
the Erbitux-only appointments are short, about 1.5 hours, but the FOLFIRI ones are long, 5 hours, and then they send him home with a pump for another two days
thanks, wv, all the love and support we are getting from everyone really means a lot to us!
wow - had no idea what was involved
me either! It's been quite the learning experience.
glad that you have the support of frriends right there - and then you can know thast all of us here want to support you both all that we can from this distance
yes, all of it is good, and important!
Hi people.
one of our friends just came over to walk the dog, and wlil be doing that every day after work, pretty awesome!
hi neil!
I'm glad you have good friends like that, Sue.
And hi. :)
Check your email?
me too, neil!
Yeah I bet.
don't see anything, neil (yahoo, gmail)
Well you should have something... check junk folders maybe? Was sent to your yahoo address.
silly yahoo. Why would it label you as spam? Got it.
Because I'm not in your yahoo address book.
Put me in there and that will "whitelist" me.
I told it you weren't spam, that seems to work just as well. I deleted my address book years ago when someone used it to spam all my contacts.
anyway, nice pictures, now I want some latkes! too late for this year, though :-)
Ugh. That often happens if your account gets hacked, yeah.
also your mom's dog is very cute :-)
Oh he's totally adorable... and knows it!
he and my Sera would make a good pair - she's a black labradoodle
Oh yeah. Check these out Sue: http://tinyurl.com/94bhlnw http\n://tinyurl.com/9m79gg6 http://tinyurl\n.com/8gsh4xc
Ummm, remove the "\n" that got inserted in the 2nd URL. No clue why Babble does that!?
I don't know either, Neil, it is quite annoying
Sera is about twice as big (in every dimension) - she's about 50 pounds
Yep. sure is. And yeah... she's gotta be part Standard Poodle if she's mixed with a Lab huh?
Charlie is a little mutt... obviously a Poodle mix.
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
Hi Min
Hello MollyL! How are you? Did you finish the grid already?
Yep, I'm done. How about you?
Congratulations on your early fireworks display! Way to go
** finito ** last word was TE 5/14 - usual temperature of my tea because i drink it so slowly
Whoa, hard to tell Min and Teach apart.
Congratulations wvteach on your fireworks display! Hooray
hadn't even noticed until you mentioned it Molly - off to make more batches of cookies
Hi everyone
Hi SeaSpray. :)
Sera is a standard poodle/black lab mix

Several stupid ones in today's mess.
Hey ru!
And hi again, Sue.
Hi there, sue.
hi sue
hiya neil
did I kill the chat?
dunno, ruru, but it sure went dead!
May I please have a clue for ge5-14? Thanks
g + former name for Exxon
Wasn't that originally Standard Oil?
yes, but the gas stations said E*** on them
NM......thanks much, sue.

checking new icon
hi, lbd! I see it if I reload.
hi everyone!
hi UU! how ya doing?
pretty good, lbd
I'm sorry to read about your friend Dennis. heartfelt condolences. my bil died of pancreatic cancer just two years ago.
ah, so sorry, lbd! Pancreatic cancer is nasty.
yes it is. hits hard and fast.
and doesn't have obvious symptoms.
No worries Ru. Chat is mostly dead all the time now. : D
ah.. sad but true I bet
Molly, not a very nice thing to say. You either, ru.
<--- not dead yet
and hi, mimi!
You go, sue!!! ((hug))
it's quiet a lot of the time Mimi. the chat used to be full of discussions about current things.. it's not been the same for a while
Just because it isn't a topic you appreciate doesn't mean there isn't relevance and worth to others....
I am not talking about the topic..
ah well, like the rest of life, it seems to ebb and flow
I find all kinds of topics interesting
It's just often the chat isn't going
Hi all.
Lots of long silences
etc
I'm still dealing with the CT tradgey......I have a close relative whom, I believe is capable of doing something like that.....so, it is really depressing.
And ruru, I agree, it's been quieter lately than it used to be.
What I've liked about this site from the beginning is the seeming acceptance and harmony in the chat....just want that to continue.
hi, nrkii!
that is scary, peach
I think the series of small grids didn't help. People are always less chatty when there is less to clue about. :)
Mimi, it does. chat is kind of neurotic with it's silences.
that is true, nrkii! there was a rash of pretty tiny grids.
I agree with sue....ebb and flow. I just like having somewhere to connect with people that is friendly and if it is also lively, even better. If not, that's OK, too.
see what nrkii just said. and the holidays have people distracted in other ways.
that could be the reason nrkii I hadn't considered that
And then there are those damn lurkers (GUILTY)
Indeed, sue. There is nothing I can do about it and I try not to let it stay in mind constantly.
<---been distracted with other things in life...hubz broke his toes and is hobbling around like a trooper, but still a pita.
Finished!! Had to use resources but some of those words are not even close to being in my vocabulary.
aargh. I think my phone just bricked itself, again. sigh.
whooo hooooo Stidgmere!
wtg stidgmere!
yay gmere!
lbd, ouch!
In any case, everyone is entitled to their opinion. GG stid!!
I even needed lickety + morewords to get nbs, never heard of the pe 7 and pe9
So nice to see so many friends out and about. Stormy day in the great Northwest. ty nrkii. Iam just not usually able to finish. Hi uu. And ibdawger wow. You all are just right there.
yup, crushed big toe, fractured the next two. really ugly and owie.
it's mostly nice here mimi.
right the pe 7 and 9 were probably greek to me.
I don't see many problems.
bummer about your hubby's toes, lbd!
Yes, ru, and I still adore YOU!!
I have 3 left....need to find food.
uusue2, how's your husband doing? Anfd you?
mostly an inconvenience since now he can't drive (right foot is in a boot)
Ah. Mimi, you are very kind to keep ruru on your good list.
hi Christine, we are ok, Frank starts chemo on Wednesday and we had a long informational session today
ru's on santa's naughty list! ;-)
I'm going to poof off and watch monday night football. Best wishes for you all.
Deservedly so!!
Santa knows.
enjoy the game, Stidg
night, gmere!
Good night to you, stidgmere!
Prayers and bestwishes for both of you.
thanks, christine!
naughty and nice
I'm turning in early...trying to cope with the fact that my best friend of 43 years was attacked by her brother a couple of days ago and he cracked some of her ribs with terrible bruising....hard to be so far away from her during these times (she's in Atlanta) but probably better I'm not there because I would have gone after him BIG time.
well, naughty can be nice sometimes, if you get my drift...
oh, no, mimi, that is awful!!
((Mimi))
Hugs out to Molly, uuSue, GaPeach, Stidgmere, Rururocks, LBD, MimiCat, Christine, and anyone else I missed.
Back atcha
(((nrkii)))
likewise nrkii
oooh ((((group))))
And just Sat. night I had to call the police on a domestic violence issue here in my apt. bldg. Don't understand violence at all but I do try to help when possible....I offered the neighbor a safe haven when/if she needs one and someone to talk to.
(*puts her Nellie face back on) yeah yeah, anyone able to tell me what my last 4 words are?
depends on what letters, nrkii
ah, that is very good of you, mimi. Domestic violence is a bear.
you left your psychic hat at the office, lbd?
Be careful, mimi that the offender doesn't try to hurt you.
<--- has a physics hat but not a psychic hat
by4.8 by+ two consonants.
yes, that was one... lbd psychic powers are on fire!!
I need 2 S and 1 T
2 5 and 1 6
I'm trained in crisis management so those skills do come in handy, sue. Yes, dawg, I've been warned of that many times but I feel protected somehow by having the "righteous" on my side!! Anyway, I won't let someone like that change who I am....I'd rather risk it than not get involved if I can help.
am giving in and going to the list
go5.18 ho6.16 and so5.14, all rhyme, start with how i like my caramel...oo** and go***
Besides, bullies like that are often backed down by a strong female since they're not used to that.
got those... I was missing the first so5, even though I had the so6 just after it
so5.14, pig call
te5.14 warm-ish
damn, I was missing a plural that I was sure I had tried
OK, all, giving up and going to rest. Good talking to everyone tonight. Be well and happy. Hugs all around!!
st5.10 s + throw gently...
wow, and my last word was another plural
done
rest well, mimi
night mimi!
whooo hoooo nrkii!!
brb, need more hot liquid
Time to go call my mom. Happy babbling all!
bye nrkii!
sweet sleep, nrkii
Thanks, nrkii. Sweet dreams.
Do y'all know that peanut butter and canned sliced peaches are really good together.
really? Do you put the peanut butter on the peaches, or what?
(I'm serious - I'm looking for things that Frank might like to eat during chemo)
Sue, I put some peanut butter in a small bowl and spoon the peaches over them (make small slices). I guess peanut butter is good with most things. LOL
ah. well. perhaps we will try that. And I agree about the peanut butter.
Sue, the Peter Pan brand, reduced fat, creamy, will be so easy to mash up with the peaches. I bet he will be able to eat it.
good thinking! I am making a note of that.
Hon, you might want to add a little of the peach juice to the peanut butter first and blend into the PB with a spoon and then add the peaches and mash them into a rather more liquid texture.
got it :-) thanks!
yvw
hi, folks
Hi there, welki!

Which leads to the se7
FW. Thanks for all the help.
yqw
Congratulations gapeach on your fireworks display! Hooray
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I will see you tomorrow.
Nitres Min ..
But mustard is OK on hot dogs, right, tor?
Sure. Mustard, onions, relish ..
I agree with your profile.
That's Harry Callahan's opinion. I tend to agree, but it doesn't bother me if you put ketchup on a hot dog ..
As long as I don't see it ..
I'm not a ketchup on hot dogs girl myself. : )
I thought not
we had an old veteran fellow here in our little town who bought a food trailer and opened a Chicago-style hotdog stand in his side yard, down next to the local canal and lock. He didn't keep ketchup there for the patrons, and cast big scorn upon those who were naive enough to ask for it. Darn good hotdogs, though - just about everything else imaginable available as condiments. Sadly, old Vic has passed on now.
That's cool, rbud
Hi
Heya herin
How you all going?
Going well, at least the last time I went.
I finally got himselfs present.
: D Tor
Help for do 5/18 please for fireworks.
Adj. of the do4
What's the lucky lad getting, herin?
ridiculous word - add sometimes vowel to do4/6 above
Toshiba AT100 Tablet
:) Thank you! First fireworks in a long time.
Nice
Yay rhozee!
It will be the chunky one. And he doesn't have a clue.
I will be getting it at about $200 of because the store I am getting it from is stupid and saying 'it is old stock'
Yah Rhozee
I propose we do a Babble Secret Santa .. herin can buy for me .. :D
Sounds like some crafty shopping ..
secret santa sounds like a sugar daddy
I wish. I just saved for a very long time.
We have a secret Santa thing this year which kind of pisses me off because I would like to actually give that person a present and know it was from me and I actually thought what they would like #firstworldproblems
Torg no you tend to find that stores that don't specialise in p.c type stuff don't have a clue on prices. They tend to be really expensive or under priced
Ruru! You're FIRED! ;)
OMG Can I please share a pic of our new grocery store deli?
please do! :)
http://tinyurl.com/cm8foe4
WOW! that's all deli?
Yep
One whole back wall well actually the store is MASSIVE..
http://tinyurl.com/bov49d7
...look at all those hanging sausages... yum
The second Tiny is some of the store refits
oooh, Curtis Stone, wow! :D
He is their um Mascot
the "patisserie" - I'm drooling
The store is amazing. I was in there last night. I tend to go later at night as I can't stand crowds. It is a bit sad how negative people are on facebook.
I agree, both about avoiding the crowds and fb as well. fb seems to draw out the confrontational types, that's for sure.
Lots of people are just so rude
Today I was shopping and I had this man that worked at the store hand me the phone because the other store was taking too long to answer. He was not helpful at all and I ended up organising to get the item my self. Zero help from him. I really did feel like saying "No no that is fine I can do it myself"
well, that's just wrong. I think I'd have had to report him to someone in authority.
Lazy sod. He really didn't want to be there.
*happy dance*!!! new washer is working!!! the first new one didn't... defective. Hauled out old one, in with new, out with new, in with next new one. Finally!
I've never owned a new washer before. yippee!
Damn I hate when you get a lemon
can't wait to wash some clothes, still running the water only test runs exactly like it says in the instructions, not going to have them be able to blame me for any screwups, lol
I have only had one new machine it was great. Previous machine before was a second and this one is a second too
they tried to see if they could make the lemon out to be our fault somehow for a little bit, but it was definitely not something we did. Bent up inside frame, but not dented outside. No way we did that.
May have been dropped some where along the line. ANd I am going
