t.u.
Ok 23 more to find..taking a break..back later.
Hi to anyone out there :)
((Liz))
Hi Mimi :)
How ya doin?
Good thanks - hope you had a good day yesterday
Quiet. How about you?
Don't celebrate Christmas - but had a lovely day walking on the beach and using our pool. It was great at the beach seeing so many families having a good time.
I would so much love to visit there one day. I like the Aussie spirit.
I've only been here 4 years but love it, though miss family and friends.
I think it's great to have the courage to make such a move. I've moved around a lot but only in the U.S.
It was a big move but the time was right - it all felt right and making the decision in some ways wasn't hard at all.
I've always reveled in change. How else can one truly grow?
I guess I changed less - certainly didn't move about much but hopefully grew through my job - changing responsibilities within that etc.
I'm pretty much done changing, I think, at this age, however, keep learning....that's important. Now I feel this need to share knowledge and experience, especially with younger people.
Keep learning and be open to experiences - live life to the full and enjoy every day - those are our aims!
That sounds self-centred - of course there's more than that - we both do things within our community too!
But also when we moved here, we both felt pretty burned out and were glad to make the most of having taken early retirement.
It's interesting that many of the things I considered rock solid beliefs and values have drastically changed just in the past few years. Much of that change was "forced" upon me but I've decided to embrace it the best I can and move forward. There's a quote I love: "Hindsight is like foresight but without a future." Ain't it the truth?!
I like that quote! Will try to remember it.
I see no point in going over and over the past. No matter how hard we try we can never change the past. Learn and move on, right?
So true - particularly learn before moving on!
hello evereybody
Hey Ruby :)
am I way past when everybody was here?
hello lizlin
helli CJ
((ruby))
good afternoon all :)
Not been too many people around - I've been popping in on and off!
morning all
((sprite))
Hi Sprite :)
Hi smores :)
See, ruby, many of the great people are here!
hi smores, Liz, Mimi :)
hi ruby!
{{smores}}
{{group hug}}
:) Mimi
Much harder grid than yesterday!
good company :)
bigger too
Love the company!
what a pleasure, seeing so many friends
and I read through the chog and started with the 9!
I second that, Liz and ruby. Such a great way to start the day.
yes, it is indeed ruby :)
I've got 93 and it's going slowly!
it is more than 40F here, the snowbirds who have come are all disappointed
how was trip ruby?
I'm being inundated with phantoms today.
I've already had lunch, so will play a little and then take a nap
Sounds good :)
trip was great, smores, but had to come back a day early because husband was falling apart
Mimi: same here, phantom Central!
An "l" would be useful!
very much so.
glad you made it ruby, sorry to hear you had to cut it short
this is a nice-size grid
It's a patriotic grid for the U.S. since America is in it.
husband needed me, and I got to attend the important parts
better not tell america it is not valid...
Hadn't noticed that :( Sorry! But do have the er 5 within it!
at least the flower counts, lol
lol...
was suprised the other day that texas was accepted
texas isn't just a state, it is also a kind of deckhouse. I looked it up, lol.
OK--you guys have lost me but I'm glad I'm comfortable being an underachiever.
me too but someone said it means a shed of types - thanks Ruby!
didnt know that...lol
Wow---the things we learn here!
sprite I mean!
it again confirms the #1 Babble rule: try everything, no matter how unlikely!
tired - typing without thinking!
Good advice - advice I often forget!
That's also a good rule for life........
I think, therefore I type LOL
Mimi: the flower in America.
fingers move - brain sleeps!
LOL ruby.
er 5 - a type of heather - also a girl's name
good Babble state, that is, Liz :)
LOL!
quick 30, lol
Thanks, Liz....had no idea that was a flower!
it is heather.
okay, I must get coffee, brb
Get those synapses firing, smores!
as usual I am doing pretty well with the small words, lousy with the biggies, LOL. I really should work on my word building skills..
as you are not using your mother tongue, you are phenomenal, sprite!
if I thought coffee would help, I'd ask smores for a cuppa, lol
I agree with ruby, sprite---so impressed.
*hugs ruby* thanks dear one!
I have the 7s and 9s if you need a clue. I certainly couldn't play in another language!
good morning all
"takes bow" Just realise you don't see the million unwords I try...
Morning teach! Love the snoopy icon :)
hiya Teach, you are almost in the grid today
Hi, teach. Yes, Snoopy is GOOD.
sometimes I play scrabble in French, have only won once! It's impossible and there are almost no k words
But another babble friend is in the grid :)
Liz, I am good still, enjoying the plodding along stage :) Thank you!
hello teach. Are you all recovered from your baking and company?
I noted that, too, Liz.
np - though I'm giving up for the night in about 10 mins
yes, but will spend today with the grandkids
oooo... and I don't see him or her.
pe 5
oh of course. Thanks.
The GA variety.
ty for the pe5
Absolutely!
And another free hint, if you remember how often we go whale watching - they jump out of the water!
but orca is a phantom
true - one of the first I saw - or should that be didn't see!
watch out for the orca (be6)
lol Liz, it doesn't matter... when one of those guys jumps out of the water, we get wet whether we look or not
lolllll good one ruby, thanks
I once saw a mother and baby breach together--harmonious and wonderful.
And I've just realised that I should've been in the pb several times today, when people have asked what I did yesterday! and that was my first word! Duh!!!!
(my 3rd 6 that is. I am beyond lousy today)
Yes Mimi - that's an awesome sight!
awww Mimi... that sounds so special
and thanks for the br6, LOL... my 4th 6.
I've only seen whales once and the only photo I got was of a big splash!
When I lived in L.A. I went twice a year--once for the migration to Mexico and once for the way back...love it and miss it so much.
We try to go every week during the winter - in fact, the company we use invented their season ticket because of us!
Liz, at least we have each other for company in the PB!!
we are so far inland, that I really miss the ocean
It's pretty hard photographing them - but we've got some great shots. I just use a point and shoot but my hubby has a good slr and lens!
but you sure have a lovely lake, ruby
I had the privilege of being kissed by an Orca at Sea World years ago. Amazing seeing that huge animal coming at your face from high atop the platform.
time to get going out in the rain - supposed to turn to freezing rain later today
I have found memories of Lake Geneva from family holidays when I was young.
Wrap up warm Teach :)
brrrr teach, how unpleasant. Warm thoughts to keep you company!
Bye, teach.
Lake Geneva in Illinois or in Switz?
wow Mimi
Switz!
Didn't know about the Illinois one!
What was truly amazing was the fact that I barely felt it----so precise and careful.
and you didn't call me, lizlin!!!!
just north of chicago along the Illinois anf Wisconsin border
Did you live there then and did you invite me?
just kidding, I've only been here 15 yrs or so
I would now, of course, lizlin
ruby, apero is not valid!
So I've learnt a new geographical fact - I know you were kidding, Ruby. Me too!
it is in this house, sprite
Need 2 more words to make 100!
most definitely is, ruby. Silly enable.
go Liz goooo! Do you have the parrot?
finally back
Alas, don't think I'll EVER make 100....
wb smores. Did you bring us all a lovely cuppa?
No parrot!
Got those synapses fired up, smores?
What does it begin with?
100! I'll be happy to reach half
lol...half way
sure you will, Mimi. This game is something that grows on you, in more than one way, lol
parrot?
Liz: ma5/22
Ah well - I had the advantage of starting earlier today
fresh pot with a touch of vanilla bean
ty sprite
too easy
so it is! ty!
I'm here more for the company than the grid....and that suits me just fine.
I simply love vanilla. Lovely, smores!
and the big belly?
100!
yay, wtg Liz!
got that one, pa6, and am on my way after yesterday's food!
big belly?
Yes have the big belly - in real life too after over indulgence. Thank goodness the gym reopens tomorrow!
I have a cat begging to be fed so will be back later in the day. Hope you are all happy and safe until we meet again. Hugs all around.
pa6, smores
bye Mimi, have a lovely day
{{sprite}}
Bye Mimi - have a good day :)
have a wonderful day mimi, hope to see you later :)
lol, I beat you all in the belly department. Ah well, I will have to settle for a delightful personality...
The personality for sure sprite :)
I can vouch for sprite's personality!!!!!
Me, too, sprite. Now that my looks are gone, must settle for being colorful...now, I'm gone!
*grins*
lol...
at the London party, my nephew was teasing me and saying that one of his colleagues and I were trading shots and smooches at the previous party. The guy's wife actually got jealous and she had to be 25 years younger. LOL and it wasn't even true
the lady must have been very insecure :(
but I looked better.....
ruby is a looker for sure
and her husband was a mutt!
lol..ruby
maybe 20 years (or 30) ago....lol
Love when that happens, ruby!! Hey, I really am leaving but all of a sudden saw a bunch of words---having a mini brain explosion. My cat is getting ready to eat ME!! Must go.
LOL....Mimi
lol Mimi! Bye then :)
feed the cat and come right back
one time, on my way to chemo (bald, but scarfed, and with a gal from my office), some guy in the elevator tried to make a date with me. It was too funny
aw that was sweet, ruby. awesome.
Some day I'll tell you about 20-year-old twins in the bus....oh, boy.
okay Mimi, now you have to come right back...lol
...and the guy I went out with who was 32 years younger than me....oh, the stories.
Mimi is pulling a jilli!
we are all waiting for mimi's story.....
ies*
OK---feeding the cat then brb.
:)
good :D
I found a 9!!!
Yay Sprite :)
is it the ch9?
yes :)
what is the other one?
I'm back. Want a story?
there's also a linked 7 and 9
this would be a good 4th of july grid, having america right in it
please, Mimi, do tell!
{{hurshy}}
Hi, hurshy!!!
Ruby ic 7 and 9
Hiya hurshy :)
got them, thanks, Liz. And the be6.
i tried icewa5...
lol...I just tried that too hurshy
hihurhs :)
To quote ruru earlier - think Titanic!
there's no berg...
good clue, thanks
but there is a ship...
I know - I looked for berg linked words for a while
ah i see
ogt it, ty, was looking at the wrong ic
Well--the guy 32 years younger had been after me for about 2 years. But he was so young I felt I needed "permission" from someone to go out with him. So I called my daughter and she had no problem with it. Sorry to say, it wasn't a fun date. He's say something and in my mind I was patting him on the head thinking "Oh, you'll outgrow that." Never went out with him again----have already raised my children.
I guess icewa5 is two words, darn it
lol Mimi... good for you
But then so are both the 9s!
Great story Mimi :0
babble rule #2: there is no logic in enable! ;)
Still not seeing the ch9....duh.
what a good daughter!
Ooops took finger off enter too soon :)
Yep---she used to be......
Mimi: think faraway Delft.
ch 9 - think country first then dishes!
Got the dishes but what is the rest?
hope she will be again soon Mimi
Not gonna happen, smores, but thanks.
OK - it's 11 pm here and enough of the computer for tonight I think. Great chatting to you all - hope to again soon. :)

*digs up Mom as fast as she can* Stay with us, dear one!
sounds like a delightful day Sprite
yes, I like it. Am off to cook, btw... just noticed the time. Must be out of the kitchen before the boys start the main dish! Daughter and me take care of appetiser and dessert.
bye all, hope to see you later. *hugs*
have a lovely day, Sprite. xx
enjoy love and best wishes for the new year
No worries Coolgirl, not many people get the "Islamic decree" clue. : )
good morning, Molly
Hi Mom
I always have to research "boxing day" as we do not observe it here in the States. Apparently, it has it's origins in the affluent being kind to the servants.
time to scoot. ((Hugs)) to all of you
Have a nice day Mom
good morning everyone;) my first word is one that is almost never in the grid be 6/30:) hope it is a good omen
i think it's a terrorist message... put it together with "america"
lol you never know
hi again
ohhh
mix that with the kennedy magic bullet and the fake staged moon landings and you can have some fun
howdy smores
oh and area 51 just to keep things fun
hiya crossy, how was your Christmas?
anyone want to clue pe6?
it was very nice smores.a simple small christmas, calm,no panic.no big box store frenzy
pe 6/33 it is an alloy called poor mans silver and is often used for beer steinsd
steins
lol, here is me looking for weird things and ignoring a regular word.
thanks
np
in old days it used to be mixed heavily with lead..was not good for the health
thnk crossy
*thanks
np:)
lol....I think the lead was the least of their problems considering what they put in the steins
" if the drink doesn't kill ya, the cup will"
you are most likely correct smores.some of the stuff was quite nasty i have read
glad you had a nice Christmas, our was fairly uncommercialized as well
it is nice our son is older and we can do christmas without so much bling
yes, mine would still love some bling, but are old enough to understand that isn't what it's about..
and that mama's broke...lol
Good day, smores & crossy. May I join you?
nice brunch with all the family at my sister's...then quite evening at home
we have more fun doing up nice stockings for each other and on present each and we got each other a nice heart and stroke lottery calander that will keep it interesting all year long
Of course scrabbller...come on in the wa5s fine...lol
gm, everyone, clue for the fa5.24?
morning scrabby.was santa good to you and the bunnies?
howdy lbd
Hi dawger
hi crossy, hi scrabs
fa 5/24 is an islamic contract or something like that
I was on call yesterday, thus needed to be home (within 30 min drive of the hospital), so I was alone with the bunnies. We had a quiet, peaceful day.
fa 5/24 not skinny + H20 is **ter
fa5 - rotund + first two letters of H2)
sometimes peace is a good gift as well
definately...
I was with family on Sunday.
so were you called in?
ty for the fa5.24, found it.
Nope, no need to go to the hospital and ONE phone call all day! Lucky me.
brb...dog needs out
happy boxing day, all
avoiding stores like the plague today.someone else can buy into the frenzy
howdy dan how did lil2bit enjoy her christmas?
Hi Dan. LittleMiss2bit must have had a blast yesterday.

miss2bit is still recovering from yesterday :-) she did not nap, because there was too much to do.
98 left. bbl
lol dan.when we were young my da could not keep us in bed much past 05;30 christmas day BUT the rule was we had to sit down for a full weekend breakfast first with all the trimmings then we could open our stocking wile mum and da would have 3 or 4 coffees9laced with something soothing i suspect)
Nice tradition, Crossy.
hah! we actually had to wake her up at 8am (probably the last year that will happen)
i am sure she will be ready to go at 04:00 am next year dan
so that's where the big crossy breakfasts started
this was her big gift - http://tinyurl.com/cyoqypa
can ihave other clues i just cant find them its frustrating
i remember my mums breakfasts english style fry ups type of course and tea
also known by the cute name "bubble and squeak"
re6/21 to mend something

Great, creative play toy for kids. Mary's kids have a similar one and we use it often with toy pots, pans, plates, etc
i have the one that records
re6/24 to send in money twice
I have re + pa4/6 and re + ta4/5
re + two is the same as a **** of mittens
i am not seeing all these re,s
yes, she also got a "stand" mixer, and a wok from grandparents, and we've been saving empty spice jars and boxes &c for a while :-)

that's why we didn't see it in 3-D. It's scary enough
Cool website, crossy
i do not know how they managed to fluff it out enough for 3 parts.bit of a cash grab i suspect
nice crossy
true, crossy. But I would go see the last two. Bilbo was great
The Hobbit movie is in 3 parts?
Yes.
i love the hobbit and LOTR.but even at two hours for average movie it the theatre,i cannot feel my legs when i try to stand;((
i sciatica(sp) becomes agony
my
I didn't know that. Well, I haven't been to a cinema in > 5 yrs anyway. I wait for the DVD
It went by so fast. And, the Golum scene was fabulous
yeah, I could see doing it in 2 parts....but 3....getting a little greedy there
think it is best scrabby.i notice most are going from theatre to dvd in 2 months or so
We rarely go to movies, but this is the kind that I would
i have heard amazing things about the gollum scene
me too bichon....definatley on my to do list
I can pause for snack and bathroom breaks, and, even better, no noisy, rude, obnoxious people ruining the experience.
I wish they had more of the songs from the book
True, the texting people
I'm not much for movies at the theater anymore either. For all the reasons already stated. Mostly, the rude annoying cell phone people.
"last time i went,we had 2 older couples saying non stop can you undersand what he is saying i cannot understand what he is saying all the way through the life of pi i understood him perfectly his accent was mild imho and damn cell phones rining..
ringing
And the odor of cigarette smoke on people's clothing.
yes
And, the people smoking right outside the doors
had one like that at my left elbow.just stank of a ciggarette smoked fast before the movie
hello all :) Appetisers ready to go into the oven... can't do anything else until it is time to heat it up.
There doesn't seem to be proper ventilation in movie theaters, thus the scents linger longer.
and is it me or are they getting a tad too loud?
welcome back sprite :)
Obnoxiously loud
thanks smores :) It is fun, cooking with my girl.
((sprite))
I remember the days when they had newsreels before the movie, not ads
hi crossy *hugs*
Oh yeah Bich, that's the other thing. Twenty minutes of previews.
lol,careful bichin,you are dating yourself;))
yes, that is always nice sprite
I am proud of my golden years
bichon: so do I! The 'Polygone journaal' it was called here.
I wouldn't mind just the previews, but the same ads
<----remembers the cartoons :)
I just got a fluff in my lap. Why are they so needy
cartoons, polygoon journaal and a few ads. Usually the big strong silent type of man smoking.
lol...
don't know, bichon... here many dogs are nervous because of the early New Year firecrackers.
They want love, bichon. I grabbed bunny Beatrix a while ago and we looked out the window together. I told her that wild bunnies live out there, in the snow.
I don't understand it, they are need 24/7/365
(dessert is vanilla ice with heated cherries... nothing I can do about that beforehand, done in a whiffy... and SOOOO good!)
He can now see out the back yard. The minute a dog comes along he will go ballistic
Scrabs, I don't think you should give your bunny nightmares!
*needy
Haha. I tell my bunnies how lucky they are.
and now they dream of poor lil' bunnies frozen in the snow, one paw stretched out towards the Scrabs' home... but they didn't make it in time...
Fluffs know they are entitle. Why else would they be sleeping with their heads on our pillows with us
I had a bunny that jumped into bed with me. Sebastian would often be up there during the night too. He was the sweetest little bunny.
aw isn't that sweet
Sometimes I would be woken up by whiskers in my face.

There's a rumor that Twinkies have a shelf life of 20-plus years. The truth of the matter, however, is that it’s closer to 25 days. The plastic-wrapped desserts contain the same apocalypse-vulnerable preservatives you’d find in most commercially baked breads.
ty for that ac7 sprite:)

hi again all!
hi Sue, how goes it?
pretty good, bichon, we're at the cancer center now and Frank is getting his second treatment
how's he tolerating it?
ok so far; he's had a couple of bouts of nausea and a couple of bouts of diarrhea but both were controlled by medicine
today is just the biological treatment, which has fewer side effects than the chemo
it's gotta be tough. We had a friend who quit chemo because he couldn't tolerate the side effects. I don't know if not having the chemo made a difference or not.
That's tough. Frank's cancer is one that tends to recur (even with chemo) so he is determined to see it through. With the chemo plus the bio, he has a reasonable chance of avoiding that.
And who knows what wonderful medicine they can come up with in the interim
exactly!

hi jilly. . . i am a little slow today. . .sorry
it wouldn't. we were all looking forward to it but we are in england.the bairn was hit by a car last week and was airlifted to a hospital with severe head injuries and put into an enforced coma.she shocked everyone by recovering so quickly.they expected us being in hospital for weeks but she was in for 5 days.so we are really thankful that she is alive and doing really well.she definitely has a guardian angel looking after her and we are so thankful
OMG i am glad that story had a happy ending.
OMG!
i gasped outloud reading your tale. . . so glad it worked out more or less okay!

Sorry to read about your girl Lilliann. Thank God for Angels who watch over.
so am i TO.i never want to repeat that performance.she has a slight bleed on the brain and a fractured eye socket and fractured bone behind the eye but there was no surgery needed for any of them and she is battered and bruised and quite sleepy which is expected but doing really well, so we can now relax and i've aged atleast 20 years in a week, but atleast we are more fortunate than other families and my heart goes out to them now knowing what it's like to think you could lose your child at anytime.i wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy!

hi smores. . .
Wow! (((lillian)))
oh my lillian...
who was it that was fretting about you?
we had to cancel the holiday jmc, they were quick to tell my husband that we wouldn't get a refund even though he had told them that our child was in the icu and we didn't know whether she would live or die at the time.how caring of them!! so we now have to wait for the insurance
hi jmc
13 TO
What a terribly frightening experience lilliann, glad things are looking much better than first thought
how terrible. . .they used to make exceptions. . . i am glad you had insurance
i keep thinking it's gone to well too quickly TO and so can't quite relax, i know that sounds stupid...
That is really bad form on the part of the airline.
I'd never choose that airline again
where ever it is you were going I would not go again, how awful
no ,lil, sounds like a mother
warning: not a comperable story==>i bought nonrefundable season tickets to the symphony right before my hubby went deaf and they refunded them when i explained he went deaf
no no lilli once something suddenly does horribly wrong for a while you get reasonably skittish. . .
lil, over here we have travel columnists that help in those situations...they can often get results because of the bad publicity
yes, hard to relax after such a scare
as a matter of fact, lil, i could give you the web addy of one
but over time it will go away again because. . .if we all thought about all the things that can go wrong all the time none of us would ever leave our houses
it wasn't the airline, it's the holiday company we booked it with.we are now waiting for a fit to fly letter form our gp and then we can book another one. the consultants at the hospital said she was fit to fly but we wanted her to have a rest first.we need to book in the next few weeks and go in january though as david will need to work in february as he is self employed, plus we could all do with a family holiday now :)
oh, sorry, wasn't the airline, but the holiday - pretty small of them not to refund - or at least rebook at a later date when everything is ok again
Well, glad to hear you might still get to go on your trip lillian!
please TO
clearly should book with another company and let the first one know that you are going to do that from now on as well as all your friends and family
Oh okay, no refund but you can reschedule when she is better. That sounds more fair.
unless, of course, they relent
or you can write a letter to the editor - check uk travel magazines, they often have comsumer questions solumns
so they are letting you reschedule without penalty?
lil, you can rebook w.ou charge?
we have to wait for the insurance which will take upto 3 months so i think my husband's dad will lend us the money if not my brother said he will so we will get one
no molly.we will have to find the money.we lost £4,600
Oh, I misunderstood. That is not right.
it was a travel agents tjhat we booked with and they told us we wouldn't get any money as we cancelled it too late, which we knew
i would be outside their office with a sign.
thank you all for your caring comments, now i know why i've missed babble so much.x
I would definatley post their name on any and all travel websites " Warning to all travelers...."
dumb response from tr.agent - how could you have cancelled any sooner
I would start talking to the local news stations Lilliann. The more bad publicity you can get for that company, the better.
http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/ecc/inde\nx_en.htm
liliann they would be mortified if you did that.
ooh sorry i did not think that url was overlong
we knew that we would have to claim off the insurance but you know insurance companies, they never make it easy to claim!
they can still refund the money if they choose or allow you to rebook for a different date. Warn them that you will post at the website that TO posted and will book with another agency if they do not relent.
TO :-P
*puts on hard hat to avoid molly's brickbats*
thanks TO.written it down and will look into it
i need a clue for dummies for the top E please
I understand why companies have those stipulations, while they are necessary, they are also able to be overlooked in true emergancies.
think it's probably e5/12 e + scotch ****
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/colu\nmnists/
et5/12
that one sounds more promising
or could be er5/12 girls name
or ea5/10 one who consumes food
lol....or it could be both
in the small print because we cancelled it so late we are not entitled to a refund jmc, but my husband has sent an email to the company, explaining what happened and that he wasn't very happy with the travel agent.they were supposed to send us forms to fill in for our insurance company and hadn't so my husband had to take time away from our bairn's hospital bed to ring them up and they then told him again that we wouldn't get any money back.he was so livid and had a right go at the person on the other end of the phone that they'll probably never answer the phone again!
my mother-in-law had to get a refund of travel insurance when a trip was cancelled. They moved the money to another trip easily, but the insurance could not be moved to the new dates and had to be refunded and she had to wait.
omit that ea5, comes from lower e
lilliann, I still think there are extenuating circumstances here that could not be avoided
on a lighter note, love your icon lillian
Your travel agent should be your advocate in this. What a shame.
they don't pay too quickly mixi.did your mother-in law get her holiday in the end?
good for your husband! people like that make me tired. . .they think it is good business but it is bad business. . .
thanks smores :)
TO! tinyurl.com please!
Thank you JMC. Every time I mention that, I get yelled at.
i can't tell you how many time i have been refunded nonrefunable $$$
Hey all. How's the bairn doing now,Lilliann?
of course it may help when i mention that i am an attorney ;-)
well, we do too TO.it's not like we wished what happened to our daughter to happen!!we now have to wait for police reports and other things for the insurance company and obviously at thsi time of year, nothing is going to happern quickly
hey soodle
yes. it was a Road scholar program and we went together.
hi soodle.she's doing well.still sleepy but her black eye is beginning to go and her stiches on her foreehead will be taken out tomorrow. thanks for asking
je: :P
:-P
Soodle, I was just reading that Yule is the time you should clean your house top to bottom, so consider yourself "seasonal" : D
i think this chog neds more width :P
oh. . .who made that dictate molls! haha
as well as mor eeligible men :P
apparently so is the woman that knocked her over jmc, but it wasn't her fault as far as we know. we are still waiting for the full police report

Air Hair Lair Babblers. (If confused - say air hair lair like the queen would). Speaking all posh, cos I'm playing on my new iPad!!!!!
Hello soodle!!
Congrats Jilly!!!
I am sorry for the woman who knocked her over, too. I hit a woman once who ran out in traffic in the rain. . . nothing I could do but i felt horrible!

Would her majesty like a cuppa while she plays?
hmmm i must be an air head babbler because i don't get it soodle dear

Oh Hello. (With an uppercrust English accent, phonetically, Air Hair Lair....)
Hey Molls. :-)
me too, but sadly not enough, gave them all away :(
See, British snooty-ism.
well miss snooty snoot
ty soodle i would have never gotten that in a million years. . . it was BBC tv that got me to start using closed caption all the time
hi stiddie
we've been in contact with her jmc and told her we have no hard feeling, infact david was at the accident 7 minutes after our daughter got knocked down as someone used her phone and called 'dad' on it and david ran out of the house up the hill as it ws just a few minutes away and he thought she was dead but when he knew she was alive and the air ambulance people and paramedics looked after her he actually hugged the woman and was looking after her
hey since I have an unplanned night off I could bake some more
can i have clues for the 9's please
you are saints
Soodle, conas tá tú?
hi stid :)
<---Not baking another blessed thing for at least a month
Lilliann, that is so generous of you.
lol...Molly
i still have jack balls from my last "baking" session
And now Jill will show off her Gaelic skills. : P
molly: i hear 'ya
Molls, I'm so loving the whole 'clean house' thing, I might make a habit of it!
god i love this crowd
how horrifing for him Lillian, so so glad she is okay
I cleaned my first floor too soodle and it is nice not to watch the kittie hairs and dust wa** to the ceiling in front of the fireplace
*Raises eyebrow at Soodle and instructs the help to get to cleaning*
hey jmc, sorry was in the kitchen checking on the pork loin I am boiling.
np stiddie
Jilly! Almost missed your post! Ta me go hana mhaith
it is left overs for me for the week. . . anyone have a recipe for leftover goose?
it was just a tragic accident and she has 3 young children of her own.we wanted her to know we didn't blame her or hate her and we wanted her to enjoy christmas with her family.she was going to visit us the other day but then texted saying she had a cold, but we don't know whether she has or just couldn't face us. either way hopefully we will be able to meet up. i think it would be good for her and the bairn even though she doesn't remember any of it which is a good thing
i am thinking about goose ta**s
*Waiting for more stories about JMC's balls*
I washed few dishes... we have been taking care of Grant who isn't bouncing back from the teeth extraction as fast as we had hoped, and I have been so tired from the "whatever" I had earlier this month. So I haven't cleaned much. But I have almost finished the mountain of laundry! :-)
jack balls jmc??
i gave some to the mail carrier. . . i asked if he were a teatotaller and he looked at me like i grew a new head
hope you feel better soon stid and that grant recovers soon.x
I don't know what goose tastes like, jmc -- maybe a nice spinach salad with goose and fresh mandarin oranges?
The mail carrier dudes are hard core JMC. I give mine a bottle of Crown Royal every year.
goose tastes like duck mostly
Thanks lilliann, I am more energetic today (finally) and Grant is in a lot less pa4 than he was (finally).
No no no Lilliann Not tragic!!! Morgan is alive and will survive.
crap...I really want some cookies now
wow. i should have guess who jack was. i AM slow today
WOW. . . last year i gave him coupons to the local MikieDees
too busy copying long urls :-P
mmmmm. cookies... I have a mix I got on sale that I should just go ahead and use. *deciding whether to bake now or later just before Tom gets home*
thanks fot the pa4 stid and glad you are both recovering.
well i am wanting a warm vacation right about now. i read it is going to be a long snowy winter
Jmc, the animal welfare people will be taking me to court. I made hundreds of spiders homeless in the last few days...
aye, you're right stid and i've never prayed so much in my life.
i now have a delima . . . i complained to the pilsbury people because i opened a tin of biscuits (american not british) to find a bristle in them which pilsbury assured me was a cleaning brush bristle and i believe them. . .
Soodle put on her Scullery Maid outfit before Christmas
bbl as i've promised her a game of monopoly millionairre quickly before she goes to bed
so pilsbury sent me coupons for cake mix and icing! should i kill another boxe of cake mix?
I am glad your family is going to be okay, lilliann. See you again soon.
Complete with feather duster..........
as well they should soodle. . . spiders are your friends. . .they eat misquitoes. . .
bye lillian, enjoy your game :)
slaughter it jmc!!
Kill a box of cake mix??
i know the feeling lillian. . .hope you start feeling better too
No mozzies here JMC,
well i am not known for my baking prowness. . .
oh well in that case to hell with the spiders
Mozzies? Did you become Australian suddenly?
ohhh....I have cake mix...I can make cake mix cookies, quick and easy...yeah
as a babbler she must speak aussie, brit and american (not to mention welsh, hawiaian and patoua)
Multi -lingual, Molls. I speak fluent Strayle!
paitoa?
patua?
Poor Soodle is under the misguided notion that just because she got rid of the webs, the spiders are gone. Ahahaha
pb and choc chip....yum
pb?
wait -- CAKE mix cookies? *confused mama look*
*confusion spreads around the chog*
*sneaks TO cookies and jmc jack in confusion*
<---Not confused about cake mix cookies
(psst. . . stiddie. . . TO needs the jack)
stick of butter, box of cake mix 1 egg and whatever else you want
*shares jack w/ TO*
please can i have a clue for the D
that sounds ridiculously easy, smores... *suspicious mama look* even I might be able to make that!
Baby pants
nappies jiving
jiving: what babies use on their bottoms
haha as i can't even bake a tolerable cake from mix i doubt i could make cookies
quick yet tasty
thank you, what about the U for nbt
sure you can jmc
What your bills are when you don't send money for them
hi babblers
i baked for a party at my house and my guests all agreed that my baking product should be thrown out!
hi welki!
hey welki! how's the fishing? :-)
Thanks Molls! Will sleep with mouth closed tonight ....
Well, that happens when one forgets the sugar in a lemon bar recipe
no fishing, stid - i think i've lost the urge
I got my paternal unit a pacific "trout" of the month calendar, includes a few salmon for good measure. A good calendar for fishing...
NO FISHING? *looks around for other signs the Mayans were right...*
haha i put sugar in. . . i think it was the olive oil. . . hahaha
lol...jmc,Molly
<---Needs to tell Soodle Grandmother Spider stories
what kind of cake mix do you have jmc?
i have a coupon for a free box and a free package of icing. . .so i can go wild
stid - first christmas in years that we weren't on the lake (but it's still too early for us to ice fish - even though it's -24C today)
lol...
livin' on the edge, jmc
brrrr. that seems a bit on the colder side, welki -- even for you folks!
*sticks fingers in ears so as not to hear how cold welki is*
Too bad they aren't Duncan Hines coupons. Their decadent cake mixes are awesome.
Interesting, Stid. My daughter bought me a calendar with pictures of goats in trees. ( I couldn't have made that up.....)!
thats me welki . . . always living the hi life!
Good Afternoon, Everyone. Happy Boxing Day.
what a great daughter, soodle... LOL
Is this the daughter who speaks in tongues?
oh - i bought a bottle of that jack daniels tennessee honey (didn't realize it's a liqueur) - too sweet, sort of like drambuie
hello Nef!
i have the murals of new york city until next tuesday. . .
brb...
That's the one, Molls :-)
then i have "occupy the future" calendar. . . love the Syracuse Cultural Workers
Be back soon, gotta go make some cookies...lol
hi nef!
Enough said then. Goats in trees makes perfect sense.
ich jack daniels honey?
Hi Soodle
*singing "There Are Chickens (and now Goats) In the Trees"*
i likes my jack daniels plain baby
Hi Gang
Why, oh why, do people feel the need to mess with perfectly good liquor?
Hoping JMC will pour me one.....
it was whimsy, jmc - was a good idea at the time
hail hail the gangs all here. . .
Hey Bich! Compliments of the season. ;-)
How are you guys doing today? I'm going to be lazy for the rest of the day; I had hand therapy, DH had Speech therapy, and I unclogged a toilet all before Nonn! ;-)
*pours a round of jack for all who wish*
Yo Soodle!
that said, i do like spicebox whiskey (and from the freezer fireball in the summer)
Our Nef is the Queen of Relaxation : P
dear me nef put your feet up!
spicebox whiskey?
no kidding - nef, you get the "Did The Most Before Noon Award!!"
fireball?
Nef gets the award for most diverse day
this speaks of new possibilities
Toilet uncloggers are valuable members of any society!!
*Takes Jack gratefully and toasts EVERYONE in the chat log. Not just "the nice people".
whoo hoo nef!
Oh, Molly
DH was discharged from home-bound Speech Therapy today and the therapist thinks he might be able to eat dry toast now.
*hands nef a cup of ginger tea*
Slainte Molls!
i got out of bed before noon. . . yep. . .that was about it
yep, spicebox - not a liqueur, but has some tasty flavors (a little vanilla, some aromatics - was good in eggnog yesterday)
sounds like a good day to me.
i wouldn't have done that but the furnace repair guy showed up
Did I hear a "Slainte"? Does that mean Mom and Dad are gone?
<----Irish will drink on any occasion
Nef, did he have a stroke?
(trust me the scots will too jilly)
*catches sight of je's offer and bellies up to the bar*
*Clinks glasses with TO*
clink!
got any godiva?
Soodle must now bow out. The Downton Abbey Christmas Special is about to start. And yes..... The aged parents have been repatriated to their natural habitat!
it's not proportional, Jilly - I'm half Irish, yet would probably drink on more than 50% of available occasions :)
I got Pernigotti. chocs from Italy.
is that what slainte means?
hi welk ltns
no Hego, he had an anterior cervical fusion on Nov. 26th and Dh can't recover "normally" from surgery
Enjoy what we cannot see, Oh Soodle the taunter. And I know you were out back slurping poteen with the boy while they were there.
Lol lol Welki!!!!
i mean purable godiva :)
hi, owl!!
pOurabel. omg it is naptime'
oho!
*Tosses Godiva out for general consumption*
bye soodle enjoy boxing day
No, none pourable.
i will GLDALY date tha nice man who bought me one last week.
too sweet for me TO
can i get clues for the 9's?
ooooo TO is he cute?
Molls, it was a slurp free Christmas. Sheesh - much time to be made up for!!!!
ch9 is a compound word that means dishes
oh not sweet. i hate sweet. just like chocolate, yes je but i really must tell yo uabout my hair stylist and actor friend. He is CUTE
*gasp* soodle that is a sad story
*Pours Soodle a big ole glass of wine to watch Downton with*
thanks, jm!
actually, handsome.
ch 9/90= dishes; ic 9/72 is the person who sails on ice
not that i would be so shallow as to date a man for looks. god knows men NEVER do that to us
ty nef
haha no no of course not TO
yw eieios
It's actually a good story. Soodle had Mom and Dad for Chrismas, who are not drinkers, so it was a dry Christmas at Chez Soodle.
oh, ty for the roadmap moll
oh that was sweet of soodle. . . i am not that nice. . .
welki, tell me you have the ic/9
why yes i do :)
:)
was just telling stid, though, that my fishing-lust has diminished - disappeared! don't know what happened - maybe i'll recover in the spring
WHAT!?!?! that is shocking welki! have you check for deer ticks?
(it stinks, though - i have everything for winter/ice fishing - but no ooomph to go!)
well time to reheat dinner. the italian part of the family brought lasagna yesterday
a blow to the head?
okay, i'm from texas, don't know much about sailing on ice. can i get another clue?
compound with bo4
frozen water + term for small sailing vessel
even in texas they know about sailing . . .
you have the ic* part - now put it in a row row row your **** (and then become the person who does it)
and i am from texas too
thank you! didn't realize that was actual thing. lol having never witnessed it.
haha
they put the bo** on skis
sounds scary.
and for the 9, add to get person who does it
not if the ice is thick enough. . . just like sailing in the gulf
i have to change the message on my cell phone - i keep getting calls for a butcher (someone who apparently went out of business over a year ago) - and am tired of people getting pissy with me that the person they are talking to is not Wanda from the butcher shop -- "Whaddya mean this isn't the butcher shop? This is their number!"
i'll take your word for it. =)
not skis. . . more like iceskates
i should just tell them, "sure, i can have that side of beef ready for you on tuesday"
now now welki. . .
Oh, this is a whole new fun topic. Welki getting meat calls.
(except that they'd call back and say, "WTF! Your shop is closed!" LOLOL)
are they anything like booty calls?
Why yes, they are : D
similar body part but not the same
oooh, I would give ANYthing for a booty call right about now...and hello friends!
hi trif
Pins the TMI Medal on Trif
Can anyone clue the co6/27 please
does it vibrate molly?
hey trif, last i heard you were dating a fireman
nope. not now, 72. not now. Not EVER again. He was not a gentleman, in the end. ugh.
sorry. i feel your pa4
its okay. moving on....
they all think they are tommy gavin now
it is unfortunate, though. Did hope to have someone to kiss on New Years Eve.....
*googles tommy gavin*
-----> LOVES me some Tommy Gavin!
oh him!
SEE? LOL
new years eve is no better or worse for a day to kiss someone
i know, i know...but it is one of the only times I have the ever so lovely experience of being in a room full of people, all with someone to kiss at midnight - and Im just standing there.
Okay - I changed my message. You've reached welki, not Wanda, not the meat market. Please leave a message and I'll call you back. (Hope it works)
<---Wonders if TO has already celebrated New Years Eve
trying to not look awkward
stats for the fourth column A please for nat
*nbt
it would appear to be time to begin dinner.
i googled Tommy Gavin, too *lol*
wtg welki
and so i shall!
not to look awkward by kissing someone???
hmmm - i'll probably be in line at customs in the airport when the clock strikes midnight on new year's - wonder what the protocol is
kiss the guy next to you in line?
where are you headed welk?
what if it's not a guy?
i'll be coming back from vegas
keep your mouth closed!
ah, much luck
then kiss the woman next to you. .
good plan, eieios ;D
haha i liked eieios answer better!
pe6 pls?
Sorry, I keep getting interrupted today. I just thought I'd tell you that water skiing and ic***** sailing were both started in Lake City MN (on Lake Pepin, which is really a wide part of the Mississippi River). :-)
not iron, not steel, but plates like early americans used
ty
i didn't know that was where wa*** skiing began!
no stats for the fourth column A ? :-(
hey je, can you check you email sometime? :P
je - not before
yahoo? i just checked it
oh darn - you asked for stats
My daughter is the MN information specialist for tourism
haha so it is welki ty. . .
my tongue got in front of my eye teeth and i couldn't see what i was typing
no no problem it was a fish with or without a clue! haha
that doesn't work as well as 'couldn't see what i was saying,' but it was worth a shot
was your tongue getting ready for the custom's line?
nbt
cawer
no tongue in the customs line. that's MY protocol :)
oh and 1/2 way
hahahahahaha
sorry, but not a word anyway
going to read for a while - later, folks
np nef
bye welki
bye welk and all
bye TO
I am going to go off to something else for a while too...bbl
bye all with 76 left
*poof*
hey everyone
hi peri. How are you today?
good, Nef. how are you and DH today?
mmmm....still warm from the oven pb choc chip cookies
doing okay. He was discharged from home-bound speech therapy today and (supposedly) may eat toast. I won't let him though until he has the video swallow on Jan. 3rd (I'm so hard-nosed!!! --I refuse to let him choke)
mmm I love choc chip cookies
I am with you, Nef. I would wait til the video swallow too.
you are just being on the safe side, nef
me too. Did you make enough cookies for everyone, smores?
I have done no baking so far. I live with piggies and they would eat them all very quickly. I may make someto take to friends or to the food pantry if I can get motivated
I have a recipe for a really good pumpkin bread and for blondies.
just took the last out of oven
<----places plate of warm ooey gooey cookies in pb
I am assuming that all the U words are un, correct>?
love pumpkin bread peri
yes all un
this one is a little spicy and makes two loaves. I realy should make it
I make a bunch of cookies and fudge the last couple days but gave it all away
all U words are un words, Peri.
Yes but the nice thing about living with piggies is that you don't end up eating it all yourself. : P
TO mentioned cookies earlier and I had to go make some..lol
that is very true Molly but I do want to get at least one bite :)
Funny, I bet if I mention steamed vegetables you won't go make that. : P
did you have a nice Christmans, Molls?
Very nice Peri, thanks.
:)
lol...I love steamed vegetables too Molly
for the U words I have un4/5, un7/48 and un5/16.help with others pls
me too,Molls but you knew that
un5...un + US Secret agency...for a 4 take the last vowel off
un6...what your bills are if you don't send money
I have two pair of jeans that are both a little two big but I have already worn them. what is the best way to shrink them. hot or warm wash or dryer on high?
Hot wash, dryer on high
ty Molls, U's are done and I am getting hungry but I hear the piggies in the kitchen so I will wait.
okay will try that. they are skinny jeans too and I thought they fit when I tried them on. hope they do not shrink too much cause then I would be in a pickle
*Imagines snorts and squealing coming from Peri's kitchen*
pa 6/30 plz
haha Molls, I wish it was only my kitchen but it is my sister's house. I try to wait til everyone is done and most of the time I succeed. but some of them to eat a lot of meals and it is annoy8ing
I will trot down now and see what is going on. bbs
pa6 is a big fat belly (hi allo)
pa6.30 is how my stomach will be if I eat all these cookies

gearing up for big storm here.. already starting. could get almost a foot snow by tomorrow
yes it just left here, we ended up with about 8 inches
stay warm, ivesy. I hope you don't have to go out in that
we missed a big storm? That's nice! :-)
just got home from work.. work tomorrow but close enough where i can walk. .. ty smores lol. u could have kept it
Do they ever close because of snow Ivesy?
we closed early once . couple hrs.. think our director would close for day if it ws bad enough
we were closed mond and tues this week and then same next week. gives us nice little vac.
Good. Well deserved time off. : )
Evening all. Clue for the first pa5/14 please?
Sorry the first pa5/12
is that a person who keeps a steady pa 4?
my first pa 5/12 is like an ode...
i have pa5 from the hitchhiker's guide: don't pa5!!
ivesy, I just read your profile. Having gone through tough times with my son; I hold you close in my heart. I couldn't find a Narc-Anon program at that time; but I went through an Al-Anon program when my brother was here several years ago and it really helps. I'll keep your son in my prayers..... My son got scared straight by being sent to maximum security prison (because the minimum security prison was full). He's done very well since then.
hey gwen (((hugs))) hope today is better?
ah, Mother is here. back later *poof*
today i learned that the jackasses who quoted me a price (assisted living place) quoted only one part of the price
any clue for the pe6 ?
my son is doing ok. but only becuz he is on suboxone. afraid to see what happens when he is off
thus their new quote is as high as the other place i didn't pice because their price was too high. (!)
pice = pick
Thanks for the pa5
pe6 = a heavy metal
and hi all!
Dang, Gwen. Have you no recourse?
and i'm halfway thru the process of moving mom in to this place only to find out they are essentially tricky lying bastards
co 6/27 plz

ty bzzn
hey, i just found the pe6, and it's not that heavy LOL
I always think of PE6 as heavy. Though it's not scientificaly a heavy metal, I'm sure.
pe is not even an element, it's an alloy . . .

Glad to see you're doing pretty well, Sue.

Sure hope it works for him, Sue.
Indeed. They are really on top of the side effects now, too, which is nice.

Been ok neil, little crazy but oh well. How was your Christmas?
ty smores - probably be later today - gym first! Need it after lots of eating :)
lol...me too
wtg liz
wb smores
We don't do Christmas, smores... but of course it's a holiday nonetheless, so we've been having a nice time visiting with family and friends, thanks. :) How was your Christmas?
ty lillian, I see you are back as well. Daughter sleeping?
Hi Neal
she is, i check on her more now than i've ever done :)
Got together with all the family, did a pitch in brunch at my sisters then just chilled out with my girls
I bet Lilliann, you will be doing a lot of that
sounds lovely smores
hi vermont, i love your icon, what a beautiful cat
Oh vermont!! that kitty looks just like the one i had as a kid
Hi, vermont! What lilli said!
Thanks folks! She is my lovey cat. I have another - he is a terrorist!
He is a one year old little boy - left the head of the first mouse he caught in my bed!!!!!!!!!!
hi LeslieAnn, loving your icon too :)
ha that is my silly beast. took that pic when she had just woken up, otherwise she'd not have stood for it :)
lucky you have such a good provider, vermont! ;)
i know how that is vermont as my boy is great but my girl is a witch!
LOL!
mmm, i can think of better things to be left in my bed..lol
Welcome, Vermont!! Lots of cat lovers here. I have 3 that were all strays and are now my babies. You'll really enjoy this community of very special people.
Who is "Neal", VermontMeow? ;)
And LTNS... hi. :)
And hi, Mimi. :)
i must admit that my tom loves to leave us presents but luckily on the front door mat, but i don't really want wild rabbits, mice, shrews, rats, and different birds.and how the hell he can carry the rabbits and rats in his mouth i haven't got a clue as they are all huge!
Hi, Neil.
Lilliann, I just read your profiloe. What a terrible experience for the little one, but I'm so glad she's healing. Good wishes and prayers (of course) for her, and all of your family.
oOh, sorry, sorry, sorry, Sir!
{Mimi}
Ha. I should show you a blog entry of mine in which I mention that [mis]spelling of the name. :P [or... maybe not, lol]
{{smores}}
lilli, I finally read your profile too, what a scary thing to have happen! I am so glad your little one is ok!!
Lilliann - All of my previous, civilized, cats left their offerings on the back door mat. This little rascal is totally uncivilized and I'm not sure I am capable of civilizing him.
Since we don't have plurals in this grid, guess we just add "er" to lots of stuff.
Oh lilliann... sorry to read about your daughter but glad she's alive and healing from that ordeal.
thanks christine, that means alot.she seems to be doing really well, so what more can we ask for.we had to cancel our christmas holiday but have the ok from the hospital doctors to fly so we are looking now for another one in a couple of weeks
Neil, I will try to remember. Remember though, I am old and getting senile.
thank you all, she is 13 and we know she is getting better because the attitude is beginning to come back!! :)
has she rolled her eyes at you yet?
LOL vermont!
If she gives you the eye roll when you go to check on her then all is well...lol
i think, she rolled one at her dad yesterday but the other one is still swollen and black so she can't quite do it with that one yet...lol and she hasn't told me to shut up yet, so i don't know if that is a good or bad sign!
:)
How old is she, Lilliann?
13 christine
Lillian, how very lucky that your daughter is healing, and even more quickly than predicted. How very terrifying that must have been and must still be for you!! What could possibly be worse for you and so close to Christmas. Hope she continues to improve.
hi all,
thanks vermont, we were all a bit depressed yesterday as we should have been going to the dominican republic for 2 weeks holidays, but we will book another one as soon as we can
hey peri :)
hi peri
lil, did not know about your daughter but so very glad she is on the mend. hope she has a complete recovery
i must admit it will be one christmas i'm never going to forget and be very thankful for vermont
Hi, peri!
I am a cat lover too
Well, Lilliann, she has a horde of wellwishers in Babblle-land.
I am getting tired of this gird but will persevere
thanks peri, she seems to be doing very well so we are very happy and thankful.x
You're a better woman than I am, peri....I'm outta here again until tomorrow. Bye and hugs all around.
bye mimi!
Have a wonderful evening Mimi {{ hugs}}
she definitely does christine, which is why i love babbleland as the people are always friendly, helpful and giving when they can.i've made some very special friendships on here and i will be eternally grateful to alot of babblers here
wow lillian, what an ordeal - I'm glad your daughter is getting better!
and hi all :)
bye mimi,tc hin
started out friendly enough, got halfway through fairly easily.
Hiya Harry :)
hi harry and thank you very much
2nd 1/2 not so easy..25 left
hi smores
I'm not even halfway yet, still 84 to go, and I'm ready to give up.
*puts on Journey album for Harry.. "keep on believin'"
I have ic7, oc7, un7 - what's my missing 7?
ac 7 dan
*bad 80's flashbacks*
LOL
lol
Cuts Harry's hair like Mott the Hoople
icewater!
i love journey :) hi ruru
of all the compound words to reject!
no ruru don;t do it...lol
agree Harry, I tried that one too :)
*harry starts singing " all the young dudes"
it certainly comes up more than something like "admen"
there is a 7 and 9 that starts that way
I actually like that song - it has bowie on saxophone
carry the news
back when bowie was good :)
amen brother
Bowie is awful nowadays
since the early 80's, I'd say....
when was that whole "let's dance" business?
lol...just thought of Young American
ruru can you clue the ac7? my monkeys are on holiday, apparently
give me my ziggy stardust :)
1983 I think harry
a + baseball hat+ the last part of a sleep disorder
He sure is ru... thought that this past summer.
ty!
hey neil
I just wrote to you.. work is done for today for me
ty ruru
I got it and replied. Work?
yeah.. that thing that people do for income?
Oh you were working today?
uh yeah
I do like that song "Let's Dance"
Oh. I thought most people had Christmas and Boxing Day off.
oh please
I wish
lol...really?
?
halfway!
bbiab.
Well sorry I spoke. But seems a lot of people do.
I got the night off but only because of snow
I don't get days off as a rule
self employed and all that crapola
Not even Christmas Day?
Yeah but you don't take Christmas off?
first pa5/12 pls
I worked yesterday too.. but that was volunteering
sorry Neil, I thought you joking about boxing day
Uhhh, no?
there was some kidding earlier about UK and Canada celebrating Boxing Day
Oh? Well I know some people have the week off... but they probably take it as part of their holidays.
pa5/12 is a song of praise
plus
I'm not a Christian
Yes Neil, those two days are stuatory holidays in Canada but lots of people still have to work them. They get paid double time for the sacrifice
I had yesterday and today off because my boss decided to shut until tomorrow.
and SMores, Boxing Day has something to do with a Boxer Rebelllion, not the day we beat each other up over getting lousy gifts
Haha, well no kidding ru. But that probably has little to do with it.
lol...Bugsaw
hey all! (((bugs hugs)))
Haha, Bugsaw.
All I ever knew was it was another day off.
I'm imagining Robert DeNiro moving in next door to Bugs
hi stid and everyone. just checked the chog for clues and found questions I cud answer
really ruru...that isn't your church you volunteered at yesterday
That'd be the end of her boxing days
I don't think deNiro would stand a chance with mr bugs there...
Bugsaw, in UK Boxing Day was the day employers gave Christmas gifts to the housestaff.
are you kidding stid? Mr Bugs hasn't even raised his voice in his life!
I don't go to church smores.. but it is a church that benefits the homeless in SF..they do amazing things
It's not his voice deNiro would have to watch out for... mr bugs would have him built into some contraption so fast, he wouldn't know what "hit" him! LOL
Oh I like that explaination better Christine, but I am sure they shud have been able to share the same day as the heads if Christianity was as work there
Well I've had to work on some Boxing Days and not on others. Depended where I was working/what I was doing at the time.
careful, ruru, your sweet, squishy insides are showing...
hahaha stid. Even that wudn't protect me. I got Mr Bugs a coaster that says, Start off slowly and taper off.
he loves it
oof! *grin* suits him well!
I've never heard of Boxing day until this year
You haven't?
...probably because I've been hungover after christmas for years...LOL
Haha! Yeah. That might do it. :P
It's the day when you box up all the mess from the day before ru. Y'know?
Oh, I just thought it was your church you volunteered at...that's very cool ruru
Oh and I just sent you a vitally important email.
it's called Glide Memorial Church.. non denominational church..it's a SF icon
It's a must do thing in sf to go to one of the services
Could I please get a clue for re6/24?
Bugsaw, the Victorian employers probably thought it was more important to have dinner on the table, on time, rather than consider their staaff.
re + get a loan back
re give back money owed
thanks ruru
Zoozzoom, long time no hear.
Hello, Christine..yeah i am around lurking about..lol
I agree Christine. Hi zoozoom
But servants have always had that situation, Christine! The slaves in the U.S. were expected to work pretty much every day most of the year, though when it wasn't growing season (for agricultural slaves) I think they generally got Sundays mostly off. House slaves I don't think ever got time off in many cases.
Hey zoom!
Good evening, All..wel it is 1:42am here but still..lol
why up so late, zoom?
That's still night to me. Even though it's technically morning. If it's dark, it's night.
trying to finish this grid :-)
I know that in the North, even non-slave workers were often working 7 days a week because they needed to run the machines all the time.
ah, the evil grid...
I'll probably be up all night...was scheduled to work sooo
I only need one more.. a U7
want a clue?
Would not say no..lol
you are un7 of the word's location in the grid
Oh geez..you are kidding me...the same ending as the Ch9

hey dcs...how are you?
Thanks so much, dc and Rose
Do you have snow, dcs?
my leg is doing a wee bit better and the cough from the flu is nearing the end. So, pretty well, if still walking with a cane
we had a dusting on the 24th that sublimated by morning, and about a half inch today, then freezing rain, and it's been raining now since about 3Eastern.
good flu coming to the end. not so good with the leg...poor you.
it's pretty rare for us to get snow before January here.
ironically, the leg is a reinjury of a torn calf muscle, thanks to thrashing in fever last tuesday night
Oh, bless your heart, dcs. What a bummer.
Frankly, i never imagined that fevered thrashing could cause such an injury. Live and learn -- the joys of getting older. :)
bbl....going to watch the news.
ouch, dcs
Oh, hon, wait until you're 74.
brb
:) I know it'll get more exciting like that with time. I have been blessed enough to have had many, many elderly relatives to observe. It's interesting the distinction between the rural and urban ones.
still cant get the 9 letter word.....have the one with a water vessel

There is housing stock there without AC still?
most apts here dont have them, humidity is so low here
yes, thanx, stid. just the fibromyalgia in right shin to deal with. knee pain negligible.

glad to hear that, I am sure you will continue to improve. (I almost said by the time spring shows up in a few months you could work in the garden! LOL)
newer buildings have them though but a lot of apts here are old
