Hi all -- late and pooped after Happy Hour(s) at my place and lots of cleanup to do.
:D
hi Jilli
ah jilli..no one stayed to help clean up?
hi jilli!
ru will be amust that I spilled pickle juice all over the kitchen foor and although I tried to mop it up it left a sticky something behind so my shoes squeaked.
Sis!! was hoping you'd pop in!
Is that a sign jilli?
No -- nobody helped clean up. They carried some plates and glasses to the kitchen, though.
Just a coincidence, ruru
you need new friends jilli
need help for nbs: the bottom row A, and the lower of the two Ns to the left.
(that was "amused", don't know why the keyboard said "amust")
na 6/21
an 4/5
well, ruru, it doesn't occur to them -- they are couples and don't have to cope alone.
So what
s this grid like? Kind or full of unwords?
When I can find a 6 right off, it cannot be too hard sis.
pretty fun if you ask me.
(That was all supposed to be together)
ty sis and melon -- I might ave a go for a bit, but pretty tired!
hi jili... bet you get the am 9 right off ... "&"
Well, the G&T is really hitting...cannot type coherently...niters all...((jilli))

ty jili'; sleep well & have fun at bridge
I have to host it, dee -- not so much fun
*repoof
can be a bother, but once everyone is there... might actually be enjoyable :)
what a nasty twisty grid. full of non words, and non-plurals.hello all.
hi rose!!
how are you dee?
I have to serve a tea and goodies -- the others are all super-cooks. I'm doing an experiment and hope it's ok (I did try it myself).
had a bumpy day... very damp here with lots of barometric pressure changes... a bit achy... thinking it will improve in next 24 hours
oooh, what did you try, jili?
hi granny -- I was afraid of that with this grid so I guess it's good riddance...*re-repoof
aww jilli. hope it all goes well for you. do you have to host often?
dee, i have been using the pain-away cream on my shin. it has worked wonders!
stollen and frozen local strawberries soaked in kirsch with a bolb of Greek honey-flavoured yogurt on top
*blob
oooh sounds yummy actually
oh, yum...jilli i'm coming to your place.
I was glad to see that yesterday, rose... today I'd have to slather everywhere LOL
hah, and good morning. I am on very early today as I couldn't sleep pat 6. (Elaborate) Saturday breakfast is finished and I have a few moments to start the grid.
I just wrote to you Rose, having had time, this early to write
past*
well, they'll have to take it or leave it, lol! It's my turn every 4 weeks, but not always the day after hosting Happy Hour(s)
maybe bathe in it??? poor dee. btw....wikipeia site says there have been some good results using dopamine, and/or adenosine.

back again, escaping from yelling husband
good morning all
hi sandr
Down to 52 need a break.
hind
oops!!!!!!
it's OK I already have it. How did YOUR day go - lovely weather you got up there
Became Aussie tonight - it was fun - very country-ish! Revolting weather!!!
Hubby processing pics now!
please can i have a clue for the 8 and 9
Congratulations - your husband must be very happy and proud of you
It was really quite exciting - small - only 30 others but lots of family and friends, so about 120 in the hall in total. They deliberately made it into a very "fun" atmosphere.
Sorry Jenny - only just started - and then in the chog!!!!
never mind liz, i'll keep looking
Not seeing many words but I guess a couple of glasses of bubbly don't help!
EN9 to pleasantly hold attention. The word starts with..to go in.
hi Zooz
RE8 Most far away.
ty zooz :)
Hello, Lynxxx :-)
&
Hello, Liz :-)
well I gave a clue for the 9 and the other 8 is more concentrated or focused
Looks like Jenny has gone anyway.
REading back through chog now!
I'm going to time you Liz
found the clue for am 9 - thanks!!!!!! Just
found the clue for am 9 - thanks!!!!!! Just
Started at the beginning. Wondered why that was there at 5.37!!!!!!
pretty good - a minute
I have 48 words to find..yet still do not have the single 'N'
Me too, Liz..lol
Have to admit, Une clued it as punctuation - I then clicked what you'd done, Lyn :) Clever stuff!
Lynxxx is very samrt.
*Smart..even.
Certainly is!
na 6/21
Thank you, BR.
TY BR and hi
Hello, lyn. Any fires near you?
Happily all under control I believe but quite a few hundred kms from where I am anyway. Now we have flooding up near Liz. A land of 'more' droughts and 'more' flooding rains - that's us. You have snow by the truckload I guess?
Strange country I joined!!!
Ah found it!
well you may be sodden but at least you aren't frozen
No, some cold and wind, but little snow so far.
excellent - you will be able to use the hammock then
Everything's damp at the moment :( But at least we're not flooded or burnt!
Hope the aquifers catch the water... they have been low.
the aquifers are natural? and they feed into...?
the aquifers in Australia ... or water table or whatever else you call it
actually that may be a dumb question - but I come in halfway through a program on aquifers and I got the impression they could be manmade - maybe I assumed incorrectly
yes, we generally call them water tables here - we sink bore wells into the water tables in some parts - especially the deserts
In hydrology, a rock layer or sequence that contains water and releases it in appreciable amounts. The rocks contain water-filled pores that, when connected, allow water to flow through their matrix. A confined aquifer is overlain by a rock layer that does not transmit water in any appreciable amount or that is impermeable. There probably are few truly confined aquifers. In an unconfined aquifer the upper surface (water table) is open to the atmosphere through permeable overlying material. An aquifer also may be called a water-bearing stratum, lens, or zone.
doesn't seem like that could be man-made does it! so that is a source of water in your area that is running low?
Good morning :)
Hi smores :)
hi Smores
Hello, Smores.
No, lyn. I was talking about Australia. Some have commented about how low the water tables have gotten. Where I am, until last year we had flooding for many springs in a row.
good evo, lynxxx and Liz
HIya zooz, BR
Glad you've got the lingo right smores :)
Hello, smores.
sorry BR misinterpreted your first statement
I was unclear
nah - its late here and I am tired = not on the ball
Are there any double 'A' words..that bottom 'A' is being difficult to me.
avants
Pooh..very sarry.
no
not sure but at least 4 av words
Sorry even.
Oh ok..than you.
the 9 is the first a
Lizlin how was your celebration?
Yes got that one from the top right hand 'A' BR.
you have all the av words, lyn
it was great, thanks. Will post a photo or two, when hubby's finished playing with them! A fun-filled evening. The aim of the hosts was not to make it too serious, though the pledge was serious of course!
Right so there are only four av..thank you.
Pellucid. I need to be more pellucid.
<-----places champers and lamington on sideboard
TY BR
Certainly had champers at home - they provided an Aussie barbecue!
I did have to google that word..lol
:) did they have enough veggies?
it is just a fancy form of lucid.
Salads were fine!
thanks for making that "clear" BR :)
You are welcome.
:)
Surprised at how nervous I felt! They ran out of their gift packs! 8 of us missed out and will receive them in the post. They gave everyone a bible with a frontplate to commemorate the occasion :)
How nice Liz
really?that doesn't seem right. Do they cater for all religions?
and for athiests?
Yes, it was nice. I also thought it weird Lyn, seeing as how in an opening speech they expressed the ethos of Australia as being non- religious! I think it was a Lions Club thing! Nothing for Jews, Muslims, Hindus or others!
Nothing for atheists except the omission of God in the pledge!
Still a nice gesture and keepsake
I could think of much nicer and more suitable things - I think we are way past being a white Christian society
haha..i have the avs and all the A's above the bottom 'A' is greyed..yet still only have 2/7 A's.
lol...omission and God in the pledge and then hand you a bible
That's what I thought! My hubby got a a native Aussie plant many years ago - admittedly it was tropical and he did not live in tropical AustraliaQ
I thought it funny and weird but a nice thought!
:)
But the important thing is that I got my certificate!
YAY Liz :)
Aussie Liz!!!!
ya gonna start eating vegemite now?
YaY 'a's greyed.
an 7/28
lol
Marmite is better :-)
Nah - I'll stick to marmite except under extreme circumstances!!!!!
BBL - about to airdrop pics!
Mnay thanks, BR..got the 'A's at last.
sa 6/24 - dune howdy
TY
thanks BR :)
hahaha..thanks, BR.
Takes me down to 37 left.
woohoo zooz
Stop trying..stereo..it is not there. *note to self.
:)
Have posted a few pics of the ceremony!
Congratulations Liz! (Now I'm on time : ) )
cool...
hello again
hi Ruby
Hi Ruby and Molly :)
ty Molly :)
congrats to liz! that is a special day!
ty Ruby :)
Nice Liz, love the tat :)
Hi ruby :)
Temporary, of course!!! Just for a joke!
I especially like the one of you with the 'tattoo' - nice shot
:)
ty :)
Husband was saying yesterday that he didn't think it correct that Obama took his oath of office on a New Testament rather than an old and new one. I said "What about the muslims and sikhs? My feeling is that when public officials are sworn in, they have to do it on the bibles (korans) they believe in, otherwise the oath would be meaningless.
Nice phots, Liz..love the blue nail varnish :-)
(sorry for the lng post)
Never wear usual colour nail varnish!!!!
excellent reasoning Ruiby
I agree ruby
and my Ruby is 10 today!!! Another cause for celebration
Happy Ruby - extra massages for her today

{{liz}} and beaucoup congrats

Oh no..you know that tingle you get at the back of the throat..and you keep swallowing and saying to yourself.i am not getting a cold...well...i have that :-(
Sleep well, Liz.
Good night Liz, congrats again....sleep well :)
Sleep well too, Lynxxx.
{{lynxx}}
merci beaucoup, Ruby and thanks again Lyn - feel better zooz - nite all :)
Sorry smores - didn't mean to miss your name there!
zoozz: hot water, honey or sugar and whiskey or rum. Might get rid of the tingle
Night lynxxx :)
and Molly, if you're still here!!!
lol...np Lizlin
clue for the lower first column n, pls
Na6/21 just go almost up the grid, Ruby.
aww, soory zooz, just saw your post, I always gargle with warm salt water, it really helps.
got it, ty zoozz
but my "cure" is more fun!
Thanks..not too bothered about the tingle as such..it's what comes after..the hacking cough..runny nose..headaches..watery eyes..and me moaning 24/7..lol
82 left and time for the NYT puzzle
f*
Enjoy, Ruby.
or even *woof*
Bye for now ruby...enjoy your day dear :)
good morning all
Hello, Teach!
morning tasks are accomplished! time to sit and babble!
Hello, Hurshy!
Good morning teach, hurshy :)
g'morning
*Hands Zoom a tea with honey*
zooz, Emergen-C and the salt water gargle sometimes ward off the cold
ZINC wards off colds!
the chalky lozenges, not the daily supplements or the cough-drop-style lozenges.
Battle of the cold preventers is ON
i have taken a high dose of vitamins today as a fizzy drink.
What is the Zinc tablet thing called, Hurshy?
the only one that has studies to support it, i believe, is zinc. but then, anecdotally, it seems that different things work better for different people.
i will goto the chemist in a min and stock up..i really can't take colds..lol
it's just zinc. you can find them in pharmacies in the vitamin/supplement section, health food stores, things like that.
oh, i don't know which kind of stores have what in the UK, as i'm only a wannabe brit.
I have a friend who swears by honey and cinnamon. A teaspoon of honey with 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon several times a day.
but tell the chemist what i said, chalky lozenges. hopefully they will know.
Many thanks..i am off to stock up..thank you, all, for the suggestions.
Will do.
Have you tried echinachea??
Really good if you take it as soon as you feel poorly
What is that when its at home?
The ones here are called Cold-eze zooz, they are zinc lozenges
it's an herbal sort of a supplement.
i always avoid brand names - overpriced. and the zicam nose swabs with zinc have caused some people to lose their sense of smell!
Herbal suppliment, always works for me but you have to take it as soon as you feel poorly and then for tow weeks
If it's a chemist in the UK (we say pharmacist) what is the store you buy the stuff in called?
the chemist's!
i's read that in bookses.
Chemist/pharmacy either one.
me too xeiiuj, I always do the salt water gargle, Emergen-
and rarely get sick
how can there be this many P's
Ok got them written down..thanks once again..i love babbleland..i'm off to the chemists.
:) hurshy, you really don't like P's do you
Bye zooz...feel better :)
well they are HARD. i mean i got stuck with 8 or 9 in the top tile, then was all proud of myself seeing some more, but that isn't good enough, still now stuck with 13 there!
in regular non-babble contexts, i actually LIKE the letter P.
:) I just recall you saying that before...
yes, the P's in this game are frequently hard, and i frequently complain about it. sprite does the K's.
I also like the letter P
the other P isn't so bad
on the side
oh i just saw there is a third on the bottom, yikes
I have got all the ones on the right hand side but still need 12 for the top one. They are mean!
missing the lone A and the 9 for nbt/nbs...hmm
see, it's not just me!
lol...no it's not just you...I'm not fond of them either
still not rid of my migraine and husband is playing guitar - not good - can't wait til he leaves for rehearsal...
Is cold weather a migraine trigger? Been hearing about a lot of them lately.
ekkk...same one from the other day?
i don't know, different people have different triggers. i don't know what triggers mine. i've only been getting them for a year, since i had my tonsils out. probably the surgery triggered them starting.
yes same one from yesterday. it's reduced but not gone.
I don't know Molly, maybe, thankfully I haven't had them in years.
What a crappy trade. Get rid of bad tonsils and get migraines in their place.
Sorry hurshy, that's way too long.
yeah. i'm a bit annoyed. esp since getting the tonsils out has NOT caused me to start sleeping through the night as hoped.
lesson learned - doctors are mostly just guessing.
Amen to that Hursh.
it's not surprising, since it's only in the last 150 years or so that doctors have been able to do better than 50/50 making you worse or better.
they'll keep improving, but the acquiring of medical knowledge for the race is a slow process.
so... nobody is helping smores with that top A...
Help with top right A please.
snap :)
:)
I don't have it either, sorry
need help with that A also
(as do i, obviously)
what about a 9?
<----wonders if top A is a 9
I ahve one 9, en 9 54
it is!!!!
hello, top A is am9

Your gran plus a loud noise na 6 21
good afternoon all, back for the rest
I didn't see the clue, then fumbled to spell it right :)

you must be happy sprite, there is a K but no words from it :)
Hi Sprite
hello chezza, na6/21 means there is a word in the grid that starts with na, is 6 letters long in total and is worth 21 points. Welcome to the game.
Welcome Chezza66, so glad you are here. na for example is 6 letters long and counts for 21 points
welcome chezz

Good job Car. It's fun to find words on your own. : )
he went to the re8 location imaginable, cause he wanted to be really alone
okay, what does nbs and nbt stand for?
thanks hursh
chezza: no blank stats (meaning you found at least one of every word length) and no blank tiles (meaning you found at least one word from every letter tile)
Thank you for that one hursh
ty again sprite
thanks Hurshy
np chezza :) This game has been alive for several years, so it has developed a bit of special lingo. Feel free to ask.
Good clue, car
40 remaining. bbl to finish. hagd everyone! and welcome chezza, babble is a great game and community.
bye bye ((LBD))
and thanks Car. also

*poof*
interesting icon, BabbleRabble. Hiding behind a handsome face?
bfn dawg
The nice thing about finding words is you can stop looking for it ... if you want to.
sometimes I still am trying to find words after finishing the grid, while chatting. How sad is that?
But you are not addicted!?!?! lol
nah. I could stop any time. Some day. Maybe. ;)
Tells me you like a challenge.
lol BabbleRabble!
Less than 11 months until Christmas, sprite
ahhh guitar playing over, yay
oh BabbleRabble.... groan :)
Stats please for the top right A?
am 9/72 Car,
AM 9/72
TY!
am9.... what Mom and teach said
Found it!
at least we all agreed
:-)
wow! That is quick.
good going car
darn darn darn on the ocean word! Another long search for it.
Was messing with the first 5 letters, so as soon as the clued the stats I knew what it was.
Did not realize it was lost
in your grid, it probably wasn't, BabbleRabble.
Humming Amazing Grace
:D
could be the tune of babble
really? i'm doing battle hymn of the republic.
but now it's found
BeeGees... It's only words...
was blind but now I see...
ONLY WORDS?!!?!
<---- is totally blind to this conversation....
I hate to leave such good company, but I need to start my day. ((Hugs)) to all of you
Bye Mom!
*evil grin* But words are all I have...
bye Mom, have a grand day
lol...back with a nice strong cup
bye bye Car. ..... oh before I go, how is little Dylan?
Bye Mom...enjoy your day :)

Well done hurshy!
scooting off now .........
hope you like the touch of vanilla sprite :)
Rats! I need the lower N on the left please...stats please?
I love it
na6/21
TY
I think the nice thing about words is that the grids would be harder without them
agreed
lol
Morning, all!
Mimi!!!! Hello!
Hello
((car))
Hi, BR!
Hurshy..may I have a clue for that NA 6 please?
grandma + loud noise
i'm making a hot cross grid.
TY! We have had that word before I believe!
hiya Mimi :)
Hurshy, how is Mom and child doing?
BabbleRabble, some grids would even be impossible without them.
{{sprite}}
i have greyed the boxes so that i have a white cross!
you mean my sister in law? they are doing well, went home today.
lol hursh... such innocent pleasures
Well done!
I have just grayed both end columns!
clue for the pe6 that comes after a pair of 7's?
How is Mom doing, Car?
She is being pampered by her OT as we speak!
Took her grocery shopping with me last night. She was so happy to get out.

Hi Molly!!!! TY!

Oh I like Hursh's clue better. : D
got distracted, daughter just woke up
You keeping busy at work, Hurshy?
good morning daughter
How is Tim doing, sprite?
i've implemented a self-study program to fill my spare time, brabble, so i'm feeling better about myself, yeah
:)
not studying myself, but um, a self-imposed course of study. :)
clue for the am please
{{smores}}
clue for the am: &
{Mimi} Hi dear, are you feeling better?
what are you studying hurshy
BabbleRabble: he is doing pretty well. We are communicating better, we are a bit more patient and he is a bit less obnoxious. All it all it is a manageable situation atm. Thanks for caring.
hurshy - that's the first clue that made sense to me - TY!!!
I love that clue, hursh
lol chezza :)
Think I've turned the corner, smores, thanks. It' really raining here this morning and I LOVE that.
oh, i am studying christian stuff. ethics, theology, how to minister and counsel, etc.
you should move to the netherlands, Mimi. Lots and lots of rain. And my company to boot.
:)
Let's see how quickly I can pack, sprite!!
snowing and cold here
sprite, it's my sister-in-law in the netherlands who had a baby this week! :)
go for it, Mimi. I will ask my daughter to give up her room for you :)
You co-authored a paper somewhat similar in college.
I didn't know that hurshy :)
hursh, congratulations to you and to them.
yes, i did.
just read back through chat, glad your mom is doing better car.
also happy to hear your situation has improved sprite :)
an7,28?
thanks smores, so are we. All of us, grin. Even Tim himself.
and when my husband is done with his PhD and gets a real job, i want to get another degree. it might be in this area, or i might go for nursing. i will weigh the options as time goes on.
There's a nasty word in the grid that reminds me how sick I've been....don't think it was that disease, though.
an + nicknames for men named nathaniel
and, done!
wtg hursh
ty hurshy. Fireworks. going to watch tennis. playing tennis got cancelled because of the ice.
Ah, my second grandson is Nathaniel.
congrats hurshy
WTG hurshy !!! WooHoo
you could invent a new sport, mixi. ice tennis.
wtg mixi too
WD hurshy!!! Hope I get to make that announcement one day with this bl**dy game... LOL
you too mixi? WTG :)
What a great idea, hurshy----tennis on skates!
I wish you well, hurshy in that endeavor.
the tennis was to be indoors. you can't get there because of the ice. should start melting in another hour.
you will cheez
you will, chezza! It kinda grows on you, this game.
I know - am already addicted but equally frustrated, too LOL
I don't know about changing directions on skates! lol
myyyy mart is a very very very fine mart he's a very very very fine, very very very fine very very very fine mart
hahahah... hook, line and sinker... babble wins again
lol...hurshy
darn I am hungry
how is he doing?
I never finish grids unless I find all the words.
he is still doing well on the subq fluids.
he has put back on a lot of weight, is up to 8 lb 10 oz today.
which is still skinny but much better than where he was.
It helps to have low expectations for yourself, chez...then when you surpass them, you can celebrate!
Mimi, I think you have deleted the Season Match 3. Which is different from the Season Match 2 :D (There is an undo delete button though)
it is sad that barring a miracle, all this progress means nothing, and he will still die in the near future.
*hugs hursh*
When I run out of words, I make some up, BabbleRabble
I should never delete when I first wake up.....
making up words is so fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every birth is a prelude to death.
thx mimicat - have reached 1280 pts which I have to say I am pleased with but frustrated that I still have 2 8ltr and 1 9ltr words to find!!!
{hurshy}
living is a fatal disease
no, that is not true sprite.
chezza: very well done for a first time though
Glad to hear he is picking up weight though, that is a very good sign.
living is living, it gets ruined by fatal disease.
neologians are fun
that's like saying all sex is rape. no, sex is sex, it's only when twisted that it is rape.
no, I see sprite's point. The only cause of death is being alive.
uploading again, Mimi ;)
that is what I meant, starry
the CAUSE of death is not being alive. being alive is a necessary precondition of death, but that's not the same thing.
and the major cause of divorce is marriage
You're too kind, dear sprite! Will check it out in a bit.
you can't break a glass that doesn't exist, but that doesn't mean the existence of the glass necessitates it being broken.
ahhhh, i can't take the flawed logic!!!
it will take some time, Mimi, I will give a yell when it is done
<--- turns on special font for joking remarks
"A man with outward courage dares to die. A man with inward courage dares to live." ~Lao-Tzu
ooo nice one.
nice BR
Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live. ~Norman Cousins
So you don't believe logic is a flexible concept, hurshy? Is all logic hard and fast or does perspective play a part?
i think that logic is logic. i don't think logic is all there is.
that is almost what I wrote in my paper to conclude my study... that I am not afraid to die, but I am still learning to be not afraid to live.
Death is inevitable...so enjoy life
causation is not even well understood in philosophy. That's why all logic about causation is bad.
as spock said, "logic is the beginning of wisdom, valeris, not the end"
:)
I also believe reality is subjective.
we should watch out using the words 'so' or 'therefore' - they give each utterance a semblence of logic.
Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans. John Lennon
"everything is relative." "No, everything is just about the only thing that is not relative."

There's no such thing as everything.
hiya welki :)
Hiya welki :)
I don't know what that means, it just sounded good :D
Way too heavy a conversation for me this early and still not well...I'm doing good just to spell some of these words correctly.
lol..starry
Hi, welki!!
nice one, starry :)
And it took me 3 tries to get welki's name right....
:) Mimi...yep
when i think of welki, i think of the beach
Perception is the product of nature and nurture. Each of us has our own truth.
ok Mimi, you're back in business... upload is ready
Thank you, dear. Am just about ready to leave and give it a try.
the oceanside is my favorite place to be, hursh :)

I am not a mascot ... I am a cantankerous old geezer
I said ALONG WITH BR!!!

Is Dan here today---I missed him...sorry, dan. I'll just shut up now!
Good morning all
dan was here for a little while, he yelled am9!!!
hi Mr Bob
well, fireflies for me. A *hug* to you all. Have a nice day and a peaceful evening.
and yeah, you definitely don't fit the 'mascot' image, BR - when i think of a 'mascot,' i see some guy dressed up in a fox outfit at a hockey game - not you, babble,
later, sprite
Now that the men are well represented, I'm leaving until later. See you in em, sprite! Hugs all around.
Take good care, sprite.
Okay, back again
Bye, smores....later.

Hello All

Don't do it Mimi, don't do it :)

I like your style, welki and smores!!
no cleaning necessary. : )

It's amazing how many words I tend to see when I'm "leaving..." And Hi, hego!
sure i do, hego. style and panache, that's me. *LOLOLOL*
not just about the clothes dear, it's the attitude :)
Style? I wore bell bottoms to the store and got some weird looks ... like I cared.

Style has everything to do with attitude!!
lol...maybe I should leave again Mimi, might find some :)
Never want you to leave, smores....

ringa ding ding :)
giggle
well, there ya go :)
Hope you didn't follow that with " well eat me"
The young speak and we must be amused.....
no, but I did mention I take duct tape with me everywhere.
sometimes, i'm not amused. not at all. other times, i'm pleasantly surprised.
...and hope they'll get wiser with age.
good idea
:)
Though I can tell you I'd trade all this wisdom to be young, cute and sassy again! Well...I am still sassy...
I have mellowed some over the years.
my sassiness improves with age.
Thankfully, so have I BR
i'm fermenting
lol Welki
lol
:)
LOL, welki! What "proof" are you aiming for?
I want to be Betty White when I grow up :)
Told one with a piercing that modern medicine should be able to fix those holes with something better than that.
lol BR
me too smores
I am well on my way to Bettiness.
hego, daughter has been taken off anti-labor meds, so she can deliver anytime now - will let you know when i'm back east. i'll be in somerset, but probably will visit daughter in eatontown at some point
I love her " Off Their Rockers" show
terrific Welki
i'm more on my way to bea arthur-ness - ut oh, i think i'm there!
you've arrived!
Congrats welki...everything okay?
As Groucho Marx said "You're only as old as the woman you feel"---is that relevant to this discussion? Remember, I'm still sick.....
lol...kinda Mimi, I think he meant it a little differently though :)
so funny
just early (again) - this one is a healthy size, though, so the doc isn't concerned about any complications, even though she's not due until the end of feb. (baby's now about 7.5 lbs)
I have no heat this morning
waiting for the repair guy.
oy - out of oil?
Wow, that is a good size to be a month early
fingers can barely type.
Poor hego....sending warm wishes.
no the furnace went out
Oh no hego, hope he gets there soon
It was 19 degrees outside
Any chance they were wrong about the due date?
He may be an hour or so more. ugh!!
yes, smores, the baby's big - no diabetes, nothing that would indicate the baby's anything but a good size
no, smores - no mistakes there
big baby coming. Yay!
you don't have any space heaters you can use until he gets there?
Smoresette was 2months early...scared the crap out of me
wonder if I can type with gloves on...hmmmm....
her first was early, too - just hoping she can 'keep things together' for another couple of weeks
oh! smores, really?
time to find an old pair of 99 cent dollar store gloves and cut the fingertips off, hego
If she could keep things together she wouldn't be pregnant in the first place........sorry, couldn't resist.

Hi again ruby, bichon :)
((ruby))
am 9
my sister sent me recipes from the NYT for mushroom soups and they suggested mixing fresh prcini or cutton shrooms with dried exotic ones for most dishes, they said it made the flavors richer
Be alot of howling tonight :)
hi ruby. did I tell you about Watson. Bad news, he had to have his leg amputated. doing what dogs do, got off his e collar and chewed the leg down to the plate. But, he's going to be a great 3-legged dog
<--With Bich, doesn't eat fungus
Molly, my buddy
oh no! That is so sad.
lol, bichon.you do not eat anything parasitic? then you best not look too deeply at what does on with the bacterial cultures used to make yogurt and such
goes
<---loves yogurt too
yoghurts okay in my brain. It's seeing those mushroom growing on dead things
I used to hunt and eat wild mushrooms when I lived in Princeton but made the mistake, once, of not doing correct field work and wound up in the hospital for 3 days
morning kiddoes
No, it's not so sad. It was a wild concept in the first place. He'll be fine
we are all one big food chain, with humans not quite at the top:)
see ruby, one of my reasons for mushrooms not in my diet.
eek, ruby
fortunately, it was only a mild stomach poison because with the deadly ones, you just need to eat a spore and 26 hrs later, boom!
clue for the 8 letter words please...
crossy only eats tame musrooms
I only eat the little white ones that come in packages now or dried morels because you can't go wrong
(that was during my wild youth)

common over for dins ruby.tonigh is lean pork with apple sauce, cheddar and broccoli rice and steamed pea pods
In Binghamton, the old Polish ladies used to hunt "popinkis" but I have no idea what they are
I never had porcini either fresh or dried
last night I made shrimp with black beans and corn and Mexican seasonings.
can you get fresh shrimp where yu are Bichon?
ty for the re8

<-- doesn't like to hallucinate, life is weird enough
Ruby you are supposed to do the ones that make you fly with Carlos Castaneda. : D
I did magic mushrooms once many years ago and it was pretty scary, much like your experience ruby.
I agree with Ruby, life is weird enough.
the hallucinations were beautiful at first, but then got out of hand
strong feelings peri
I like to cook with mushrooms and not get cooked by mushrooms

BBL gotta go run some errands
Bye all :)

We had some light, fluffy snow last night. Our neighbor went out and used his leaf blower to clear his driveway.
The snow we got last night is all melting at the moment.
i need help with the o words
we still have last week's snow which is now hard ice in the driveway -- nasty stuff
*Sends Ruby some rock salt*
<---p's done.. smug look
I ONly have 2, both op4's
Ru, you are in the grid today. sa6. : D
we put salt but I think you need salt + sunshine
:)
The rock salt melts ice with or without sun.
it didn't work
man I need to bone up on v words

HelloEveryone
(((RUBY)))
hello hello river!!!!
havent seen my ruby in ages
lovely to see you; it's been a long time
Ooh. Just found the av pirate word.
MY Ruby is 10 today
Arrrrgghh
uh oh, now molly is going to say it's Talk Like a Pirate day
No, that talk like a pirate stuff was old two years ago.
did you make it up or was it a real thing
Happy Birthday to Ruby - that a great age for a chow
yes it is, these last 6 months have been a gift and now every day will be another
How is the baby doing?
10 is really old for a Chow, nest pas?
yes, she's the 1st one to make it this far
and she isn't even arthritic; maybe the massages help
the baby is bigger than Ruby and is very feisty and smart
thats what I need them....massages that is!
we all need massages but they're very scarce
and expensive
how is Sarah doing at her new school?
she likes it....is home this weekend because she needed money so have to work - is at the mountain now ski instructing. She changed her major from photography to Art Education - that will give her more choices. This semester she will actually be student teaching. She is very excited about that. She was already assigned a 5th grade class.
that is a good decision; she can always fall back on teaching to earn money while she continues her photography
I LOVED TEACHING ART!
exactly...photo is still her passion
whoops, sorry for shouting, but my light bulb blew and I'm typing in the dark
passions rarely pay
her art teachers from high school have stayed in touch and want her to sign up as a subsitute teacher when she get out of school in May. It would be great experience and good on a resume
I didnt think you were shouting - just stressing how you feel
I was able to teach full time AND have exhibits
I now ruru - thats why I am glad she made this decision on her own
Wow, Ruby really IS Ruru
she has been selling some of her work...photos and watercolors....helps her to pay for school supplies. The students have to buy their own art supplies - school does not provide. It gets real expensive on top of tuition. So she has been selling herself in her art and also baking for the other students and selling goodies....you go Sarah! I think its too funny actually she is baking an selling to dorm mates!
hard to keep a secret in here, molly
she sounds terrific, river!
Well, the jig is up now. : D
She is a great kid and finally finding herself.
woooo I always wanted multiple personalities
mrs. ru will be horrified
or maybe not.....
Wait until Mr. Ruby wakes up to that goat face
I can keep up with other players here that way
and I thought HE was the old goat baaaa
72 to go and still dont have NBT - need lone N in left column and lone A in right column
and lets hope they are not fishy
I have 63 left but can't find the upper right a
Upper right a is : & the word for that punctuation mark
n is na + cons + noise
thanks for that A - great word
Na6...Cyber Babble player making a loud noise : D
wow, ty molly
got it - thank you thank you ruby and mollly
am9 and ellipses are two of the least known punctuation words. Commonly called "and sign" and "dot dot dot".
as soon as you showed it I knew the word so it was lodged in my brain somewhere
the Fr have a funny word for @
down to 68..whoohooo...dryer just dinged so my go fold while still warm....bbl....love my babble friends
makes it hard to give your e-mail address on the phone
<-- loves river!
once Sarah starts teaching, I will tell her all my old "secrets"
the mafia word for sworn silence isn't accepted
Arobasse?
yes, I'm writing it down
ty
good night everybody, time to go see Mr. Grumpy-goat
*woof*
good morning, all :)
Just came on too, helllo cyber

hi everyone! tadone and finito!!
Hello dawg...enjoying our balmy weather?
WooT WooT WooT dawg!
congrats dawg
ty dawger
grats, dawger
hi Jilly! it's wet here. rain this morning and icy in spots. i think i prefer snow, at least i can walk on snow. don't like to dance on ice.
Good day to all.
hi scrabs
How are you, Dawg?
snowing here
doing okay, scrabs and you? been skiing?
Heat wave here. 20 degrees F after as low as minus 3 on Thursday night.
Yep, cross-country skiing. I was out yesterday and will go out soon.
26 degrees here - feels warm after a week in single digits and teens
good weather for hot cocoa, a fire and a good book
took grandson to meet a group that is having a sledding party with good sledding hills and a hot fire and hot cocoa
37°F here. our high is suppose to be 39. just wet and yucky. no sun.
Sorry, popped out for a phone call...our snow is mostly gone as is the ice...but I agree with you Dawg, I wish we still had snow steady through the winter
sounds like g-son will have a fun day!
Same here Dawg...
There is a wood stove in the warming hut and I love sitting next to the heat and reading. The hut quiets down in later afternoon. I don't like sitting there when groups are drinking beer and wine, pigging out, and talking loudly.
when i think of x-country skiing, i think of quiet solitude. just the sound of the sooshing of the skis and me trying to breath and not fall down! lol
okay, coffee with jmc successful. New icon is the two of us.
I love that, dawg. It's so meditative.
yay, sciencegeek! i bet it was a great time with JMC.
hmmmm, strugglin with the in's, is the 6/7/8 following the 'from birth' a combo? and can I have a clue?
Are you in DC now, SG?
it was fun. Just too short a visit
Now, she is here in Houston
Oh. I know cosdem went to DC and met up with jmc and Seain
Yes, heard the story. She is also meeting Champ later.
Well, jmc is the Babble Social Director.
in6/7/8 are not really related. you may in6.21 to make them so, but it will be too in7 to do it. the 8 is the more so of the 7
lol. She said she wanted to be the Babbler who has meet the most Babblers in person
ty dawg...thinking...
i've only met JMC on skype. she is a lovely person to talk to.
Hm, OK, I have started with in6. I am thinking about the others.
very interesting person
the lemons were so in7 they made my mouth pucker.
Im back. Just in time for dawg's great clue
still ??? on the 6, got the others
OK, I have 5 in- words now
hello annie!
clue for the in6.21...don't forget to look to the D in the right corner.
hi jill
that is the in I am missed lbd
Hi Annie & Bobby!
hi annie, hi peri
Hi Scrabbs, Im telling Bobby you said hi.
hi all
the snow was not much acculumation and very light so it was easy to shovel
Hi peri, and hi back at you, scrabbs
ty lbd. great clue for in6
Bobby, who are you rooting for in the Superbowl? I like both teams, especially the brother-coaches, so I want a good game and no injuries.
*sigh* still not getting it...
yw, peri
Bobby: The 49ers
Jill, the in- words? in7 = some flavors are in7--strong!
in + cross letter + the *** (finish)
I picked the Ravens. We have a $2. bet on the game.
volcano alert, just found it with 88 left
*thunk*...thanks for dummying it down for me..
np, jilly
that struggle makes me a little nervous about my next task....installing a new router...
Just follow the instructions, Jill.
new router should be easy. just plug in the cords and cross your fingers. have IT on speed dial! lol
Jill, installing a router is not that hard.
LOL..my IT is on the phone via Norfolk VA....
Is the K used at all?
no, scrabbs
it's just a place holder, scrabs
I will stop trying to use the K now, Annie
Thanks Molly....all I have is a CD, so hopefully all will go well, it's a N900
scrabbs, I thought you meant at the beginning of a word, whether it is used in the middle, I havent used it yet
who is your internet provider, Jilly?
I did try stenk scrabs...not a word...lol
Optimum
jill, so did I
I don't know any -enk words
No enk words in this grid
I use Internet Explorer, what would be a good 2nd one to have? firefox, safari or something else?
*!* ta da *!* --- a few new words for me today
whoooo hooooo NAN!!
congrats, nan
Firefox or Google Chrome
I just hope Optimum has enough for me
WooT WooT WooT nana!!
Enough what Jill?
I have used Firefox for many, many years and love it. I tried Chrome but prefer Firefox.
congrats nan
Peri, I have used both Firefox and Google. prefer Firefox
I am drinking skinny girl cosmopolitan. no where near the real cosmo but it does not give me a headache like wine does
*snap*
ok thanks
don't know about optimum's IT support. so, good luck. but you should be able to do it without any problems.
Similar minds, Jill
anyone want clues before I leave?
83 left bbs
If you need help Jill, you need to call the router IT support, not your cable company.
transfer speed molly
Do you have another cable company option?
Not for cable
on my way, then -- having a dinner party tonight and need to get some prep work done!
So if I disappear for today or appear on smart phone, you know I will not have been successful.
Bye Nan, have fun.
bye cyber
Good luck, Nan
I have every confidence in you Jill. : )
:D thanks Molly
Hello all...
Hello Turtle
Hi red :)
Hi red!!
how is everyone!
Fine and how are you?
Doing fairly well...
Doing any running?
Loads! My hip is beautiful these days. Have a big race in April.. How is your friend with the hip? Last I heard she was improving/
red, she has reached a plateau. Very glad your hip is healed. Good luck on your big race.
Clue for lone N tile?
I do not have that scrabbler, but I need it!
:D
scrabbs, ruru phanthom scrabbler (first 3 letters of his name) and then a noisy racket
ruru"s
na 6 - short for granny + loud noise (or short for evening meal)
thanks!!!
TY, I never would have found it.
yvw
So, is it true that NB was made-up and didn't really die?
scrabbs, yes, he did not exist.
From chatter both NB and JC were fictional...don't quite know what to think
JC is fictional also? well, well.
finally... something in every box - took long enough!
wtg, chezz
wtg chezz!!
*snap*
thx - first day on here and just getting that far was bloomin hard work
well done, chezza! i'm off to make tater soup. enjoy the puzzle. and hi red...long time! ttfn--poof
chezz, that is excellent for the first day
I stayed away from the JC drama, but I enjoyed talking with Jesse and have grieved for him.
bye dawg
bye, dawg
Go Chezz! Welcome to Babble!
Bye Dawg
thx annie - used to adore tanglewords and then work, family, etc got in the way and only just remembered that game yesterday - went to find it to find that it was gone...
It was a nasty trick to pull on people.
so babble is my new substitute
thx scrabbler
And a good one, Chezz
congrats on your new choice of games and on getting all the boxes - NBT
nbt?
well, 67 left time to put my big girl panties on and install the new router...hopefully bbs...
no blank tiles - words tile stats and NBS is no blank word stat tiles
NBT = No Blank Tiles. Something in all the boxes. Some people here think that is a milestone of sorts.
No Blank Tiles chezz
go for it jilly
felt like a major milestone for me LOL
*poof*
People will say NBS too, which is something in all the Word Stats boxes.
i'm just amazed there are still 28 4-letter words I haven't yet found! The bigger ones I can understand, but 28 4-letter ones???
it IS a great milestone for your first time
some of those small words are the really weird ones
You will find that there are a lot of four letter words in these grids that you have never heard of before.
@mollyl - i have something in all of them, too
then you would have NBT and NBS
scrabs how can you grieve for someone who didn't exist?
I didn't know til a few days ago that Jesse was made-up.
@wv - guess I have both then!! Wey hey!!!
Ruru, how did it all play out? When did the truth come out?
another milestone that some like to celebrate is to get halfway - today that would be to get at least 112 words
we discovered a site that had all the icon photos of Nancy Boy.. and I checked all the obituaries in London in that time period
I have 141 so am happy with that! x
Shocking, but I guess people play games on the web.
Pretty sick game
you have "Halfway, NBT and NBS" which is a great start - never got that far when I just started
probably cause i'm queen of boggle at home - in fact I can't find a family member who will play that game with me anymore LMAO
hey dudes
Clue for the lone A, please?
Hi Leslie
&
and alot of my words today have been pure guesses and just typing in different combinations of letters in hopes of finding some of the more obscure words LOL
AM 9 / 72 punctuation mark
@scrabbler &
Chezz, you will get even better after you play Babble for a few wks.
that's advanced babblery, chezza
hi leslie
Or word that means &
Aha, ty. I te4 to st4 when I find a 4-letter word, haha
can I put "advanced babblery" on my resume?
definitely
Word nerd, word freak, etymologist..
hubby calls my words with friends game "words with nerds"
it IS kind of catchier than words with friends
Words with Friends = ridiculous name.
haven't played words with friends yet
And if you tell people you are playing WWF they think you are into wrestling
I don't like the interface of WWF, and I see Scrabble as the gold standard.
SuperScrabble is even more fun--bigger grid and more tiles
5 left, all V's
well of course you're biased, SCRABBLEr
I barely have time for this game. I don't know how people get invested in another word game on the computer as well.
Scrabble is the original and Lexulous and WWF have made variations but basically plagiarized.
i have it on my phone, so i play when i'm waiting in line somewhere etc.
fireworks
congrats annie!
Yay Annie.
anas
congrats annie
Free clue!
scrabbler's free clue!
thx scrabbler and congrats Annie

i don't know who you are talking about dc. . . what were they in?
ah,she's an autism activist and author, acting incidental.
oh okay i know who that is
got the am9 finally
well done; a common enough word, though rare in grids.
one of my favorite words though. . . at least before i met zarf
LOL :)
huh? the na6/21 i got was a japense shrub!
yes but format like her last name :)
must tend to laundry, bbs
oh i see. . . haha kept looking for a discriptive word!
nbt
hello, babblers!
Hi Welki. And everyone. :-)
back. Hi, welki and soodle.
i'm in laundry mode, too, seain - hate it.
sorry about that, jmc -- i tend to clue in spoonerisms and similies.
similes even
no problem dc. . . sometimes i get them; sometimes i don't
hi, soodle
hi soodle
Selkirk & Woodle!!
I don't mind laundry -- i can do other things while it's processing :)
i had a picture taken of me in the cowboy hat but he hasn't emailed it to me yet
Hey JMC. :-)
sounds so ~~fancy~~ soodle :)
It's not the cowboy hat! It's The Hat!!!
but, i also really like the wet chores around the house -- kitchen, bath, laundry.
just a cowboy hat? yeehaw!!
LOL welki
i'll send you a plane ticket, seain - i like a clean house, but hate cleaning
<---- Changed bed linen today. Nothing nicer than getting into a freshly laundered bed!!
hey jmc - when i'm in jersey, i was thinking of reserving a suite so you could bunk with me, if you're interested in coming up - would like to see you, dorens, to, hego, anyone who'd like to join us. dorens said she could open up her house to us on a weekend day
Many moons ago, each friday night, a bunch of us descended on some friends. Ricardo and I would scrub the kitchen and Vidho taught us Punjabi cooking. :)
i could teach you pig latin
Seain, I've heard of Temple G. There was a movie made about her starring Claire Danes. I think it won several awards.
ah, who knew. Good to know, Molly.
Honestly not sure which I would prefer more. Attend a Babble meet, or have somebody come in and clean my kitchen. Pondering.....
Okay, now to babble. Router upgraded, hubby reconnected to internet, TV reconnected to internet. Now let's see if it solved my Win8 connection issues
Jill, I knew you could do it : D
sounds like you had a productive afternoon, jilly - after all that frustration, glad things are finally working
wb, JJ
ooh, an idiot sa6
(that was a clue, not a comment)
Thanks Seain. :-)
Thanks Molly; but after I couldn't find that in6...
ty for clue seain!
We can't excel at everything Jill. People would be so jealous. : D
how long does this game go on?
lol,,
you have 24 hours to finish a grid, carpv
I am serious. Stumbled on thissite looking for tangleword
ouch
this puzzle lasts for a day
tangleword is long gone - those folks are over at www.cobradragon.com playing serpentine
yes, Each grid is available from Midnight to 23:59 Chicago, Illinois time.
you get fireworks when you finish the grid
also, you get the word count/box free for the first two weeks, but have to then pay to keep it. Totally worth it though
the set up is similar to tangle, carp - but limited in options (like private games, chat, things like that)
It's a one-time payment, not an ongoing cost.
exactly, lasts forever
All of us feel this is totally worth the ontime cost!!
How much does it cost?
(the set up at serpentine, carp - two convos going on)
I took like a two year break, came back and still set to go
going pro here is about $15 - serpentine asks for donations
best part of babble is that you can, like wurdy said, go away and come back - minutes, hours, days, months, years later
But if you stop for long we all start worrying about you...
Nope, Welki. Best part of Babble is the Babblers.
hehehe - best part of serpentine (and tangle) is that, after two or three minutes, the round is over
baaaaa... LOL no one worried about me. But then again, I am not a big chatter
true - can't chat at the other place like here, only a minute between rounds
I rarely finish, but usually get about half the words
That is why I prefer this...I do NOT like timed word games, and even playing against someone else is annoying to me..
Plus, we all help each other with clues.
And hello soodle!
I love clues
i like them both - different challenges
Hey Jilly. :-)
That was the easiest half way point ever for me
where do i get clues?
retro
amer
you ask someone in the chat box and get a clue
some of us use Lickety's babble Clues, link below the grid under Friends of Babble.
give us some real words!! :-)
Or, you accidently type words in the chat! LOL
Yea, about that...
Sorry
and you'll get used to clicking between the chat and entry boxes -- we all do that sometimes.
And if you want, you can get Babble Expert, a beta program from Lickety
Oh don't worry carpv...we all do that regularily..which brings me to the Penalty Box, we 'go there' when we type in a grid word
LOL ;)
like sometimes, I pr 7/36 that I am a very talkative person. LOL that is a clue for a pr word. 7 letters long and worth 36 points
I will go to the penalty box. Is there wine?
LOL Carp! Thats funny! I love wine!
And choclits..and cabana boys....
as long as cabana boys are serving me the wine and chocolates...
LOL...I think you are a perfect fit for this little group carpv!!
((((Sometimes the PB is a whole lot more fun than the chat. Last night there was a tequila party, complete with hats made out of toilet roll holders!!))
I'm not sure if I remember much of last night..LOL..hubby plied me with a very stiff and large G&T
Oh Jilly!! We have pictures of you cavorting with the cabana boys, wearing a TP hat, and little else!
LOL...so happy I was fun... :P
Reminds me of my young and foolish days. I used to wake up after seriously partying, and ask whoever was close. 'Did I enjoy myself?'
The answer was invariably Yes!!!!
now, all you have to do is look at your facebook feed - someone will post a photo showing you how much fun you had!
Soodle, we must be twin sisters of different mothers..
Thanks welki :0
Separated at birth, Jilly!!!
*looking at jilly's fb for incriminating evidence*
Just went there...WHEW!!
And one of these days soodle, you WILL find me at your doorstep!
passed out, probably
How are you getting along Carpv?
hello leslieann..shhhh...you will scare away carpv!
Trying to decide if I like this game or not...
i think she's just fine, over there doing shots out of a cabana boy's belly button, i think
Did you understand the clue that I gave you?
oh no wait that was the other newbie this morning lol
God be with the days when 'What happened in Vegas stayed in Vegas'!! Now, the world and his mother can see one making a horses arse of oneself! Damn you Facebook!
That sounds so much better than what I am actually doing....
Oh so true!!
Ahhh but we already like you carpv!! And it takes awhile to fully 'get' this game...
you get used to it. I am not serious enough to use Lickety's clues. I used to, but now I just plod away finding the words that I know.
Quick check on doorstep. No Jilly. Yet.......
I think it is just dragging on and on and on. AND you only like me because I like wine and cabana boys
Like, I have 100 words left to find, but I know I will probably not find them because they are words I most likely don't know
there is a new puzzle every day, carp. it "flips" at midnight CT. so sometimes there are 300 words, sometimes there are 50
LOL and we have to start somewhere with liking you. Wine and cabana boys is a good start
First stage of Babble addiction: You wrack your brains and write every word you can think of and still only get about a third of the total.
and you'll here is talk about monkeying a word -- typing quasi-randomly thins that might be words.
Then you start knowing words that you do not know the meaning of. It helps with timed games like boggle
Second stage of addiction: You start spotting words that Babble takes but that you can't imagine any use for, and you start getting about half the grid.
Carp, it's a big, cumbersome grid today. Don't get put off.
Third stage: You realize that if you use Lickety, you can figure out or guess a lot of the words, and can almost finish the grid.
i assume there is a stage in here where your fingers know words your brain doesn't, jan?
Perp is to a word! I hear it on TV all the time!
quite so, LeslieAnne
I teach first grade so I keep typing in "nonsense words" which I teach, and still nothing.....
Fourth stage: You hear about resources like Morewords and A2z and you realize you can actually finish a grid.
I thought I was fairly smart but guess not
clue for the last Ve6 plez
Nothing to do with smart; it's experience, practice and persistence
This game will make you feel quite unsmart. how many words do you have
well, there's weird things like isoto5 and variants there on
i think most will agree that babble is about perseverance - more so than intelligence
Oh carpv, for about the first year I thought I must be getting senile...then things got faster and faster...
DR, one who ve4, then plural for ve7
Fifth stage: Once you know you can finish a grid, you become obsessed with finishing grids.
Do you have the ve that the heat comes through?
speaking of dumb...se5/10 clue plz?
Sixth stage: You wonder if always having to finish is really fun.
i played for a most of year before i finished a grid.
se4 plus a vowel
yest, and all the words around it
se5.10 -- extend the se4 before it.
ty DC- Did not see it
Seventh stage: You realize that you don't actually have to finish any grid unless you want to.
End stage Babble is when the grid is secondary. You log on to get an update on how your Babble Buddies are doing, and catch up on the gossip.
Eighth stage: You realize that however you play and however many words you get, the community here and the game are fun.
indeed, jan. that was when i left for a few years. came back and now don't feel the need to finish the grid if i am tired etc.
And do NOT think this is an addiction in anyway...all of us can stop anytime..
ANYTIME
we've had a bunch of regional meet-ups in 4 countries so far, and we enjoy each others' company in person as much as in the grid.
I dont feel the need to finish any more either
'Course we can stop. Anytime....
i gave up needing to finish a while ago. Though today, i want to find the last 49 i have to go.
that's where i am dc, 50 to go and listing now
anyone have that A in the corner?

Hey Lynn. How's things in oz? Still as hot?
Its actually cool down here at the moment and most of the fires are under control around the state - now we have the cyclones and bad flooding up in Queensland and still some out of control bushfires over in the West - pretty normal Summer
Good afternoon all.
hi wht
Wow! I sometimes forget to be grateful for our boring weather here.
you aren't getting the snow and cold that England has?
For once, we seem to have missed all the dramatic weather. It's just cold, damp and bleugh here, but no snow or frost!
It is warm here today. It got up to 25 F.
Bleugh...is that like a combination of blue and ugh?
same here wht
We had a dusting of snow last night, all that was in the sun melted away.
The best kind of snow. It didn't need to be shovelled.
are we in the same state wht?
We got up to 30 today but I am saving my complaints as it is to be 55 and 60 on Tuesday and Wednesday
right and left columns gray
it is supposed to be in the 50s here mid week too. I am looking forward to it.
My daughter got snowed in in Manchester Airport last night. When they eventually took off, it took 20 minutes to fly to Dublin, and it was 20 degrees warmer here. Bizarre!
Close enough Bich
56 degrees here. didnt need a coat.
Bichon, I am in Mass, right outside Boston.
there, laundry going, and some baked beans topped with cornbread in the oven.

congrats!
woot to you wht
I'm south of Hartford
Had the same weather as Bich and Wht. A small amount of sweepable snow. No biggie.
Broadband acting up again. %#%}}<>^^.
its probably bleugh on the lines
It is amazing how little really cold weather it takes before 25 degrees and sunny seems like a nice day.
Lol Lynn. Bleugh is responsible for a lot of today's difficulties!
Yum -- it's starting to smell good in here. :)
Hi from a very soggy Queensland!
and i live when typos are words :)
morning Liz - doesn't sound good fopr a wedding
hi Liz. Hello from a frigid NE US
and greetings from a very cold and lightly snowy Northern Virginia. :)
most of the snow here around DC melted today. Though it's flurrying again now.
Feel sorry for bride - hope her dress doesn't get ruined!
I was bumming out that the sun wasn't shining today. Thanks to everyone for putting my weather in perspective.
And Molls, your translation of bleugh is 100% correct.
dcs, typos are linguistic mutations. If they can find a hospitable environment like Enable, they can survive and become words.
well, this was an extra vowel on the end of the red octagonal sign.
Hello all just getting started on this Saturday afternoon. Blue skies with light showers and clouds hither and yon. Cool but not cold. 40 degrees. We went to the art museum and saw some very beautiful photographs and paintings. It was a nice change for us.
Lizlin, it is all a matter of perspective. My daughter was supposed to have an outdoor wedding and my wife just knew it was going to rain. But when we woke up on the day of the wedding and they were issuing tornado warnings, rain didn't seem so bad.
'Linguistic Mutations'. I love it!
hi Stigmere
Lol :) we have mini tornado warnings today. Beaches all closed!
I'm sure the wedding will be lovely whatever the weather!
Liz, who is getting married? Friend, family member?
hello, stidgmere and lyn
Hi stidg :)
just pulled the cornbread and beans out of the oven -- looks pretty and smells fabulous.
For my daughter, we had to end up moving the ceremony inside but then it cleared up and the son came out, so they took pictures outside.
Hey Stid((()))
Son of a friend getting married.
Glad you got some outdoor pics wht.
Freudian slip there Whit... Son/sun!!!
January probably wasn't the best time of the year to choose to get married in Queensland...hot/ steamy/ cyclones/ floods - take your pick
Bootable love this place!

Autocorrect again!
I like it a lot too - just not sure I could live there
It was just a linguistic mutation, Soodle.
Rofl!!!!! Way to go Wht!!! :-) :-)
Congrats lizlin!!
A lot less extreme weather than in some places Lyn
Is autocorrect the linguistic equivalent of genetic engineering?
Ty Jilly :)
Liz, I also am being persecuted by auto correct. I feel your pain
Autocorrect is from hell. I don't know why people leave it turned on. It does make some pretty funny typos though.
LOL wht..I have chosen other choice words for it..
Lol :)
And it sometimes suggests words which I've not thought of.
Mumble mumble shifting uncomfortably.... Would turn Autocorrect off if I knew how.
OK I'm off - bye everyone - have good day/evening
See you later lynxx!
You can probably google the instructions, Soodle
Bye Lyn. Enjoy your day :)
The IT dept chez Soodle has lost patience with Soodle's ineptitude!
Soodle: Settings, General, Keyboard, Autocorrect/Click to OFF
Easy!
And better than google!
Soodle, if I can install a new router...

Good Evening Everybody! How are you all on this pleasant fun-filled evening?
Nothing like a grid to take the good out of good evening, nef.
Back for a while - hi to those I've not yet seen this morning :)
(I'm trying to work up the energy to go out and DO something this evening; but I'm losing the battle. Teh St. Paul Winter Carnival is on and they are doing something called the Red Bull Crashed Ice Finals. I just don't want to go out and stand in the cold temps to watch men hurtle down an icy track on hockey skates in timed races no matter which of my kids tries to talk me into it.
Stay strong Nef - do what you want!!!
aw, stidg! Not liking this grid tonight?
They'll get over it!
Watched some of the Crashed Ice races this afternoon on TV because it was just before the figure skating
It's pretty wild, isn't it wv? Whatever would possess a person to do that?
Years ago was in St Paul during the winter carnival and remember the beautiful ice sculptures
I am finding many combinations of letters not in my personal brain bank.
they will get over it, Liz; I think the reason my dtr. wants me to go is so we find a handicapped parking spot somewhat near the hill.
didn't look too brutal - no more than the snow board racers
We went to the museum late morning and felt very civilized but probably will watch tv tonight and get our iq average down to the double digits.
Walking is healthy and good, Nef - provided you can!
figure skating is on tv again this evening.
think I will wonder off for a while. Good night to you lovely Babblers!

Bye stidg - enjoy your evening :)

Did you sleep any better last night?
yes, I took a lorazapam
would like to find a holistic way to help me sleep
looking into aromatherapy
thanks for asking, Molls
Have you ever done acupuncture?
yes, twice but I was not happy with the person who did it. I may go back and try it with someone else. thanks for suggesting it
lavendar helps with sleep. try lavendar soap for sheets and spray your pillowcase with lavendar
their rates were quite reasonable but this was a few years ago
I do have a lavendar room spray and a lavender linen spray that I use
I tried melatonin but it did not work. also tried some homeopathic pills and they did not work either. also valerian which not only smells really bad, it did not work.
tried several teas for sleep and none of them worked either.
Oh no kidding, Valerian smells awful.
I tried an aryuvedic concoction that I saw on a wellness show and it tasted awful. tried it for two nights straight. those were my two sleepless nights this past week.

Reiki can help but it is much nicer for someone to do it to me rather than to do it myself
Part of the insomnia problem is focus. If you are focused on the fact that you can't sleep, you aren't focused on welcoming sleep and relaxation.
will look into that acupuncture center again
I don't focue on not being able to sleep and I really wanted that concoction to work
I will send relaxing, restful vibes your way, Peri.
sometimes I do go to bed too early so I try and stay up until I am very tired. sometimes this helps. some nights are better than others.
thanks so much Molls.
clue for me 5 12 the first one please?
really should start meditation again
I have no me words
peri, try to exercise so that you are physically tired and this helps me.
when I do exercise I do it in the am. have not been exercising much lately due to shoulder pain.
Exercise in the morning is good. Exercise at night can keep you awake.
peri, try to exercise so shoulder doesnt hurt. it will help even if in a.m.
I will mkg
peri i see you give no info on yourself. where you live who you are etc.

hi howdee hoopla

mkg, your profile is confusing. you are 10, 23 and a grandmother?
oh i do say female.
no, it is a joke.
A big red flag is people who do NOT post their picture on Facebook. Those are the people who usually have something to hide.
it is a joke. i am old.
I am old too
my photo on facebook is awful. my son posted it for me.

Hi again all :)
Hope you sleep well tonight Peri.

thanks Molls
well, i'm off to make some dinner, later y'alls
Bye Gwen, enjoy your chicken : D
Bye Gwen :)
peri, I, too, have insomnia.....have had it for years. I have tried everything. I have trouble focusing on things for an extended period of time.
I have tried to meditate and cannot do that either....my cardiologist in CT was talking about not being able to sleep either and he, too, couldn't slow his mind down enough to meditate. The only time I can stay focused is when I'm sending energy. I do that every day when I know of someone who needs it right away.....otherwise I'll do the sending right before I try to go to sleep. If you find anything that helps, please let me know.
Hi Gap - a silly suggestion perhaps - I've never meditated but when i needed to relax before something stressful at school, I'd drink a mixture of chamomile and casimoroa tea. Casimoroa is also known as White Sapote - can be bought over the internet. Wish I could suggest more.
Lizlin, thanks so much. I'm on the phone now and will be back on line in a few minutes.
Lack of focus and inability to slow one's thoughts is a prime reason for insomnia. When people find themselves unable to meditate, it is often suggested that they work with a meditation coach.
And Liz, not a silly suggestion at all.
I'm back. Thanks much for the tea suggestion. I've written it down and will try to get some tomorrow. Do they come mixed or will I have to mix them?
Hey, Molly, I will call the local health food store and see if they know of someone who works with meditation.
ga---what part of georgia are you from?
Augusta, syb215.
I am from Daisy....about an hour from Savannah
Oh, cool. I love Savannah. Moved here in 1977 and used to go to Savannah quite often. I feel sure that you have seen or read, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil". I haven't been back since the book and movie came out. It's said that people were coming there by bus loads. I remember the area but I can't remember the exact house.
I moved to this area in 83 after college. Originally from Sale City (SW Georgia)
I spent the first 38 years of my life in KY(in western Ky) but I fell in love with GA from the start. After I had two strokes in 2002 I spent 7 years in CT with my youngest daughter. I met some nice people there but the winters are so harsh...I came back here in 2009. I have some wonderful friends here and feel that this is where I really belong.
KY is absolutely gorgeous. I have only been through the state once, but I oohed and ahhed all the way to Louisville.
Yes, it is lovely. Did you see the white fenced horse farms?
beautiful...mile after mile of them
Johnny Depp was born in the town (actually across the street) I grew up in.....I read where he bought a horse farm for his mother. How wonderful is that?
My ex-husband worked for his uncle. His uncle and grandfather were so very handsome.
Wow...he must love his mother. He is a very strange character though. Handsome, but strange
horse farm? .. did she nag him a lot?
I agree with you. His mother and father divorced when he was very young...I don't know the details.
horse farm? .. did she nag him a lot?
Ha Ha
He does have two half brothers.....I read the paper there and when they married, Johnny was not mentioned. Must have been very bad long time ago.
THERE YOU ARE! Explain yourself. Are you well? Did you cook a great dinner for you and Mrs. Ru?
wonder if the horse farm cost him a lot of Hay?
I am cooking one .. gapeach
it's not ready
do two half brother make one whole brother?
we had a minor disaster in the kitchen this afternoon
he can afford it....he owns an island after all
Hi all!
hi sue
hi doren
Hi doren!
i've jiust come home from a long day/night and am just starting... hope it's not a nasty grid. Plus Lucy just came up to me and she looks terrible... runny eyes and nose and she wouldn't eat at all today. not a good sign
Dorens, his brothers are quite handsome. I never knew them though. I remember seeing his father sitting in a wheel chair on the front porch....think it was something that happened during his military life.
you should take her to a vet doren.. that doesn't sound right
Johnny Depp is a handsome guy.. that's for sure.
He's coming to one of my wineries this summer
i will for sure... but saturday night? I'm hoping i can find someone tomorrow.
at least that's what they are saying
did you check her gums doren?
why? ru. what will that show me? (I'm almost afraid to look.
she is purring on my legs right now
Well, I think he is a bit shy.....from some of his interviews. I bet you will like him.
he is gorgeous, and definitely an interesting character... eccentric doesn't begin to cover it
well.. you open her mouth without her killing you and press firmly on the gum.. it should just be white briefly.. and return to pink.. if it stays white a long time go to the emergency vet
how old is she?
ok. will do that when she moves from my legs, don't want to disturb her. I am sure she is failing. She is going to be 18 in two months
I know I will like him peach.. he likes my wines
or should i say she would be
oh.. she might need fluids doren
could be her kidneys
did she throw up?
Is there an ER vet near you, Dorens?
hi folks
Hi welki
Hi welki
i know she does -- she's been drinking like crazy... mucho water... but today she isn't. i think it's bad. I only came home half an hour ago, don't think she's thrown up but down't know
Hey there, welki.
i suppose my vet has someone on call.
hi all!
dorens, sorry to hear about your cat
wouldn't hurt to check it out.. and call them for advice.
I'd take her in tomorrow..
i guess i will. it's just that as long as she is purring i don't want to distrub her suppose i should though
poor kit tie!
and ru - i know what you're talking about with the gums, unfortunately
hi scrambler
well.. I have to go make dinner now..

barrels are made of maple or oak and steel. Or root beer candy.
They are st5-16 curved pieces of wood.
They are also made of st5/16s
Peach, go out there and soak up some of that full moon energy. It always helps me sleep. : )
oh, indeed -- need to bend the wood
Thanks, jan......still looking
Good evening to my fellow babblers!Hpw is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
Hey there, Min.
Hi Min, how are you doing?
And hooray for Chocolate Cake Day!
Is there really a Chocolate Cake Day? Isn't any day a good one for chocolate cake?
Actually, I posted that icon prematurely.I thought it was today, but it's tomorrow instead.I ate chocolate cake today though anyway and it was yummylicious!
I am not big on eating any kind of cake, but made an exception today thinking it was chocolate cake day.
I love cake, but not frosting.
I like frosting, but not too much frosting.Less is more
We're finishing our last Christmas pudding tonight, with custard. It's about as dark as chocolate cake, so maybe it'll count.
I don't like the icky store bought, sugar laced frosting. But a good, homemade fudge frosting, bring it on.
Jan, I looked for gaseous water on google and still cannot find it....will keep looking....thanks
Ah, ganache, that's different. My daughter still talks about the day when she was about ten years old when I let her finish a bit of leftover ganache for breakfast.
Oh bring Jan a figgy pudding, oh bring Jan a figgy pudding
st5ed shrimp. peach
Peach, think of when you heat water to the point where some escapes into the atmosphere...
Hello again
Peach, what water turns into when you boil it.
Gosh, Molly, thanks.
Quick duck! Clue avalanche!
Should've posted a picture of Paul Newman since it is his birthday today. He is 88 years old. Paul looked as delicious as a chocolate cake when he was younger.
Thanks so much, jan. Brain isn't working well tonight. LOL
He's not all that bad now. I'll be happy to be as well preserved at that age.
Paul ALWAYS looked delicious Min. : D
:) Min..
hi, so far, left and right columns grey, need 6 more 7s to get all the ≥ 7 words.
Actually, I'll be happy to get to that age period.
miss him . . .
And he would be 88, but he is over the rainbow now.
LOL...just read chog, the reason I disappeared early was to bake a cake
Thanks to dcs also.
Ah sad...didn't realize.
No wonder the pics look good for 88!
Loved the Neman/Woodward love story. One of Hollywood's best.
Was it a chocolate cake smores?
imdeed
indeed
Newman (Une and I are having trouble spelling) : D
LOL!
Remember, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Molly?
Oh, I had forgotten he had passed away.He would've been 88 years old. I wonder if he would still look good
we play a game powered by ENABLE -- what is this 'spell' of which you speak.
Yes Peach, Newman was hot before the kids made up that word to describe a good looking man.
Oh, yeeeaaaah, Molly.
:)
You have a point, Seain. : D
So Min, how are things with you? Any movement towards selling your house?
I recall when he 1st came out with Newman's Own Dressing. My sister brought some to a family pitch-in, my other sister promply stated that she would prefer Paul Newman undressing.
yep, Cool had Luke was hot. smores that's funny_Newman un-dressing (;
I am not putting the house on the market until Spring
Her expression was hilarious as I don't think she meant to say it out loud, considering the crowd.
Well that gives you some time to get ready then. Sending good house selling vibes to you.
Thank you MollyL. I DID get my new car today though
Yay! How do you like it?
WooHoo Min...congrats on the car :)
I like it a lot, but was stupider than stupid getting it.
Thanks smores!
It's such a confident feeling driving a new car after driving one with problems.
timer just went off...BRB
So true. I remember when my old car stalled and refused to start in an intersection, pushing it to the side of the road and leaving it there unlocked. Unfortunately, nobody stole it.
: D Jan
Car place is about 20 minutes away from my house. I was there for about 45 min. doing paperwork when I realized I had forgotten to bring check for the down payment. Husband had go back home to get it which added an extra 45 min. Then I went to Stop and Shop on my way home only to realize that I had forgotten my purse at the car place and I had to go and get it.
The paperwork on a new car is unending. Sorry you had so many snags, but I'm sure you're happy to have a new ride.
It's one of those 'some day we'll laugh about this' stories. What kind of car did you get?
It was my own fault, but yes, I am glad to have a new car MollyL & Jan I got a Subaru Impreza.I downsized from a Forester. This car is alot smaller than Forester
The better to park it!
Also broke down & got an automatic instead of stick which I said I would never do. I will miss having stick.
DH is in the market for a car to replace his 1991 Honda Civic. He also swears he will never get an automatic, but I'm betting he will.
I'm hoping this car lasts longer than my Forester did.
I have no idea why people are so hooked on stick shifts. The days of driving cars like that are over. Too much stop and go traffic.
FW finally. I have really enjoyed the chatting tonight. Guess I should check the news on TV. See y'all at the flip.
I've driven a manual all my driving days thus far.
My DH says it's so he can make a handbrake turn. Except the last time he did that was 1988.
Like I said Jan, the advantages of a stick shift are long gone.
One thing is, it's good to be able to drive a stick if you ever want to rent a car outside North America. I can't, so I never drive abroad.
i find i pay more attention to my driving when i have a manual than when i have an automatic.
I dunno, I'd hate to have to drive a stick in Seattle. Too many hills!
I tried driving a Honda CRV,but the Impreza actually gets better gas mileage which is important for me. I drive 110 miles a day for work so I need a great fuel economy car. I believe Subaru has come a long way.
They're good in all weather driving, too.
Min, I still can't believe you spend that much time in the car five days a week. That is a long commute.
eh, i grew up with hills -- no biggie, nor is the horrible traffic, though i've never known any different for either of those things.
All my sympathy, Min. I used to have a 95 mile commute, and it near killed me.
I'm afraid I will forget to know how to drive a stick if I stop driving one, but guess it doesn't really matter because manual cars will eventually become obsolete.
Yes Jan, there is a lot of stress involved in driving that far to work. Which many people don't take into account when accepting a job.
Nah, you'll nver forget. It's like riding a bike--if you need to,it'll come right back.
hi all
Well, when I took my job, it wasn't such a bad commute. Then my workplace located...
Hi jmc!
i had an automatic for 4 years and was I glad to get back to a stick!!!
That's *re*located.
I always lived near the center of town and commuted out. . . .
now i primarily work out of home
These days, even reverse commutes can be bad.
Hi jmcnrick! How are you doing? Welcome to the chog
my commute is from my bed across the floor to my desk
hi min
The last four months, I've been bed-bound or house-bound. So driving seems like fun to me, if I could.
that's no fun jan! have you graduated to just house=bound?
Pretty much, though I still have to be in bed with high leg elevation 12 hours a day.
My salary isn't so bad which is the only reason why I do the commute. I did look into getting a job closer, but the pay was not worth it so I commute instead.I also did not want to have to start my tenure all over
oh dear. . . hope it continues to improve jan
i get a lot of "reading" done when i drive two hours to my class
I'm sure it will. Prognosis is walking with a walker in a couple of months, so there's something to work towards.
I like that kind of commute.Don't think I could teach from home though.
winnie walker is the best walker if you have a choice
When I had my long commute, I used to rehearse my classes while driving. Sometimes on the way back, I'd rehearse what I should have said during faculty meetings!
haha probable not yet anyway min...
I'll look into that, jmc.
it is triagular so you can get through narrow doorways and around corners better. . .
oh, that sounds like a nice design, jmc, ty for mentioning it.
It looks pretty slick--I just googled it. What I currently have is an ordinary step-behind one.
I saw one and immediate bought one for my mother. . .
the bag is a big help too for carrying things
i had no problem remembering the name because i had a friend with the same name!
Having a way to carry things is very handy. Otherwise I'm forever having to ask for assistance.
exactly. . . and it is a good size pouch. . .
oooo they didn't have the cup holder when i got mother's. . .nice addition
firewords :)
whoo hooo dc!
Congratulations dcseain on your fireworks! Hooray!
WTG dc!
thanks, yall :)
I gave up on puzzle this morning @ 7:38 w/177 words

a friend of mine since we were both 17-18 is getting married for the first time. . .

Good for her jmcnrick. I hope all goes well tomorrow.

That's great jmcnrick. I was just reading about it in your profile.Hope that those leads lead to something.
i had some really good conversations last night at a political party she sent me the information on. . . so who knows
Since you are fighting for a good cause jmcnrick you will not be se 4/4 into the Penalty Box today.
It has been nice chatting w/you jmcnrick, but I need to go to bed now. Have a great time at the wedding!

HI tor
Heyas kids ..
ugh...running out of time...must resort to morewords
Am wistful tonight and writing poetry...so far:
No sadder sound of truth again....Than these four words...what might have been.
{Mimi}
very true
{smores}
<---tries not to dwell on the what ifs
I used to write a lot of poetry. Now mostly stories and such but occasionally I get a mood....
I finally finished
FW!!!
Me either but at my age there are so many...
GOOD FOR YOU, SMORES!!!
haven't written in years...maybe ought to give it a go again...not that I was very good, but I did enjoy it
I write for myself. If it speaks to others also, great.
me too, still wasn't that good...lol
Back for the flip, I will be off shortly after.
My oldest loves to write, she is pretty good too, a little on the dark side but she's 15 and morbid so...
I also wrote song lyrics. My favorite line was written one evening watching the sunset over the mountains and I wrote: As the sun bleeds down the mountainside" because it was an amazing scarlet sunset.
Hi Jan :)
Hi smores! Writing is often as much for the writer as for a reader.
Nice Mimi
Definately jan
Absolutely. Jan...cathartic.
Thanks, smores.
My non-professional writing is mainly trip reports from travels. Supposedly they are for my SO and daughter but really they are for me!
It is an indulgence I allow myself freely.
Flip!
The only poem I ever wrote that I felt was really good and shared with others was titled " My favorite color...LIFE"
