hi Glant, closing in on midnight here
I'm 8 hours ahead of you Flosey
ah, early Sunday morning
Saturday, I hope, because I'm off to a textile course
sorry, jumping the gun, it's been a full day here and am losing track
hi flosey long time no see
glad about that, it wouldn;t have surprised me to have lost a day LOL
I carpet bowl every Friday morning, and had to rush home to be ready for a 1: pm game of bridge here with the ladies team, and serve refreshment
hi sandyloo, yes a long, long time
that is what one daughter calls my daughter Sandra Louise
gosh, all those Su words and I can't find a single one - why is sunbed invalid, I wonder?
I have been distracted from babble for a long time we have shifted and have brought a farm in margaret river
8 of them start with su* (as below)
I see new faces here and stilll lots of old ones which is great
wow, that is quite an undertaking
hi glantarell
is it a large farm? do you have animals?
hi sandy
where in australia?
the farm is definitely an undertaking and has no buildings so we are in the process of earthworks\
preparing garden for vegies etc
yes glant it is in western australia and is in our beautiful wine district
oh, planting grapes?
i visited freemantle & perth once, nicest city in australia of the ones i visited
Flo that is one of our projects to get a vege garden and an orchard going
no grapes tho , they are too much work
great, hard work but nothing like a meal freshly picked
Glad you liked it here Glantarell , I do like Sydney and I also like tasmania and queensland
it looks like a quarry at the moment with all the dirt they are shifting around
hubby retired and became a farmer - have an old orchard and he has also planted a lot more
I think growing edibles is very rewarding
indeed it is sandy, just read your bio, lots of hard word but you're still young enough to enjoy it
do you ride the horses?
LOL I feel so old lately - I have to go and try to trim my daughter's horse this afternoon = HA I am sooooo old -I find that really hard as I am definitely no farrier
Yes flo I do ride but the ground gets further away each year - do you have a few acres?
down to 85, and have to get ready for my course, see you later
bye for now Glant
and well done
bye for now glant see you again
Ihave 162 left - I definitely am rusty
we have about 12 acres here - about 40 up the mountain but no buildings, it's just part of his Dad's old homestead
flo what is the weather like in Canada?
We have 66 here
all depends on where you are - we've had a very mild winter here on the lower west coast, parts of Ontario have had heavy snow, I hear - our 2 sons are still in Ontario
I believe there is a big storm coming to new york - I dream of snow it is hot here
only had a smattering of snow that didn't last
yes, that's probably the snow Toronto and area are getting
Of course we never have any snow here but we do get some good storms as winter approaches
please can i have a clue for the 9
no snow anywhere in Australia?
I don't have it yet Jenny, sorry
snow in victoria and nsw but not wa
I have the 9 what does it begin with?
Hi again - no snow in Queensland!
un
hi liz
Hi sandy :)
ok un = what you might have to do if you cross niagra falls on a tightrope
great clue sandy, thanks
has queensland been hot lately?
Not as hot as it was - we lost power here for 2 days after ex cyclone Oswald passed through.
Around 27 c today
It's cooled down since then
I live in Margaret River so it is cooler than Perth - it was about 31 today
Nice!
Perth is to get 41 tomorrow so they say
Some great wines from there
Too hot
Too hot ,
and Liz, you can bet I enjoy them!
Good clue for the 9 ty
I'll get out there one day. Only been in Aus 4 years. Became an Aussie on Australia Day this year.
where were you from and welcome to aus
London - and ty
I have been to London my daughter got married to a Pom in Hertfordshire last October and we had a big wedding there
Lived near Barnet which is in Hertfordshire.
I love England it is so picturesque and the weather is great - cool and rainy!
The wedding was at a place called Leez Priory
Have to say I don't miss the weather but I do miss friends and family.
Not a place I know!
My daughter and her husband live here so that's why we had the wedding over there - but I would miss my family too
My hubby's an Aussie and it was the right time for us to make the move. No regrets!
I'm glad for you, Aus is great too and I love Queensland - my sister in law lives in Malaney
I love it too
must get to bed, after 12: goodnight all
goodnite flo greatto see you again
Night flosey, sleep well :)
thanks, enjoyed
sandyloo - are you still here? It's nice to see you again, it's been a long time.
Hi haz, great to see you too!! so nice that there are still some oldies here
I have been busy and we have shifted to a farm in margaret river
Not so much of the old! Yes, still some of us around. When was the last time you babbled?
Not for ages!! I was wasting toomuch time but now I will have a bit more time so I decided to reenter the world of cyber space and besides , I missed you all
How's your daughter? She was having problems with her shoulder.
she still is Haz, she has had a fusion done and it is marginally better - she is not going up tot he hospital with a dislocation allthetime- she still says it is painful but not so much i'm sure
Nice of you to remember
I'm glad some progress has been made even if it's not perfect.
I remember your fights with the rooster as well!
I think shoulder joints are the most difficult to repair and we dont have any roosters at the moment because we have only moved to this farm not long ago and are in the processes of building everything
those roosters were the pits
Nobody could accuse you of doing things the easy way, that's for sure. Have you a timeframe for the place being habitable?
LOL we are building , first a shed, then two chalets and then much later down the track a big house- however the chalets will be ready this year and hopefully the shed will be done by march
our youngest daughter and her new husband have gone halves in the property- it is 66 acres and so there is a lot of work to be done
She got married in England last year and we all went over for a gorgeous wedding
I hope all goes smoothly but from what I've seen of 'Grand Designs' building is always a bit of a lottery. I suppose it adds to the excitement.
Goodness, that's a long trip for a wedding but I'm sure it was worth it!
We had a daughter married in August 2011 but it was just up the road.
At the moment it is like a quarry while they move the earth around, - they are living here so we decided to have the wedding there and it was fantastic
it was at Leez Priory in Hertfordshire you can google it
Googling....
They had the works- fireworks and everything
It's GORGEOUS!
It was amazing! a 14th century building and they did a great job of the wedding with fantastic food - it was truly amazing
I'm glad that it was such a good experience for you - very happy memories, I'm sure.
It was greatand allthe kids got to go to england and we also went to
Spainfor a week
Had you been to Europe before?
Yes, we went to England in 2011 (lots of travel in the last 2 years) we drove to Scotland Wales and all around England it was great! I love haggis and black pudding
We also went to Paris for a few days
Now of course we are poverty stricken
Travelling isn't cheap, that's for sure.
Neither are weddings
Did you make it to Edinburgh? I have a soft spot for it.
Yes we loved Edinburgh and we stayed in a beautiful B&B there- I loved the hillyness of it (if there is such a word!
I loved everywhere and I loved the weather- we were there in May and it was just like our winter
I was at university in Edinburgh and met my husband there, but even apart from that it's just a beautiful city.
It sure is! There is a lot of beauty in the whole of the UK
Yes, May can often be better than later on in our summer.
Well, you'll know that there's even more to explore when you come again.
I just loved the whole trip - I loved the history of the place- We would never run out of places to see
I think we take an awful lot for granted and it's only when visitors come that you realise just how beautiful and historic it is.
morning :)
Good morning, sarah.
Australia is lovely but it does not have the history- it made me feel how young our country is. hi sarah
sandyloo, I don't know if you've kept in touch with babblers by e-mail? I'm wondering if you knew that FMitch is no longer with us.
What do you mean? I don't know about this
FMitch was very ill and died in November 2011.
Oh that is soo sad, how old was she? That is really sad.
She was 52 when she died. She needed a liver transplant but died before it could happen. It was terribly sad and I miss her so much as we were in contact by e-mail a lot and then by phone when she was in hospital.
I remember her well of course - That is so terrible- it is sad that people don't donate their organs more- I always tell my kids that I want to donate no matter how sad they are! 52 is way too young!
Last I was here was about the time when we were sending the chicken soup to the girl who lost her husband and about the time of the scandalous JC
He continues to cause waves every now and again, even quite recently. Or maybe I should say that waves are caused on his behalf.
You've got a bit of catching up to do!
I must say that all scandal aside, I enjoyed the banter that went on in the chat and I will have some catching up to do
To be honest, there's a lot less banter than there used to be. Chat just isn't the same.
Morning all. Welcome back sandy.
Look! There's Jacula - good morning!
Hi Jac! So many of you oldies still here - Oldies but goldies!
hello
Can I excuse myself and head off? I've got to get ready to go out and the way I look just now won't cut it.
Morning. I saw you chatting and thought I'd say hello. As Haz said, chat isn't quite the same but many of us keep in touch off the chog.
Lovely to chat Haz - will see you again no doubt
See you later Haz. I'm sure you won't need to gild the lily much. x
Hi peri.
And here's peri. I'll see you again, sandyloo. Bye for now. (I'll not do the full Barbara Cartland look this morning)
Jac, I am glad to see you all again- Hi Peri
Lol at Haz and Cartland look. :-)
Sandy - I'm glad your travels went well. I'm afraid I'm going to have to head off now, too. Need to get my shopping list done and go to shops before the snow that's falling causes road chaos and panic buying. :-)
I didn't manage to get the 9 from the last clue please could I have another one.
and I will be off too Jac but lovely to see you again - I need some wine as it is wine o'clock here
'Bye Sandy. Nice to see you again. Enjoy your wine.x
Jenny - un+ if you have this kind of mind it willserve you well when you cross niagra falls on a tightrope when you need the same thing
bye for now

hi guys'
hey ruby sprite
nancy are you there?
Just looked at the 'chat' Cant believe it Sprite came in at 5.30 and in 25 mins she said 'half done'!! Ive been hear about an hour and I'm not a third done - sickening!!! And I dont have a jealous bone in my body!!
LOL I haveseen this for years Deeha and I still c an't believe thatSprite
s second language is english
That makes it worse!!
I have 118 left and I speak english
I am saying nothing I dont want a war between UK and Oz!! But I have got 192 left!
LOL
deeha, is kent south of london?
South East, Sandyloo.
ok and hi zooz I haven't been toKent, I wondered where it was
and I haven't been to the isle of white either
Summer time is nice over here...winter..i wouldn't bother..as it is seasonal..most things close down.
summer is hot here but winter has a lot of charm! that's what i think anyway
I love the climate in England but I have never lived there and never experienced the snow
Snow is nice to look at..even be in for a short while..but for me the novelty soon wears off..lol
and believe me zooz , the novelty of sunshine soon wears off when it is 42degrees c
but Aus is a lovely place to live - great food and great beaches but Enlgland is beautiful too
Yes i can imagine it does..especially if you cannot cool down.
that is for sure, you can run naked around the paddock but you will still never be cool - you can always put on extra clothes and be warm!!
ahhh, nothing like babble with tons of snow
hello hurshy
hello
We have a programme on t.v called something like 'life downunder' where Brits can try out for a week in Australia to see if they would like to pack up and move for good...the places always look so nice.
Hello, Hurshy.
sounds like an unfair test if they put them somewhere nicer than they could actually afford :)
Zooz Aus is fabulous but then again we travelled all over england and it was fabulous as well
Thats the thing.they try out jobs similar to what they have here...work out the cost of living and so on.
it was so green and picturesque
ah well that's ok then
i already know, england yes, australia no
I always say the grass seems greener on the other side, Sandyloo.
the world has a lot to offer
is sandyloo actually here?
That is true.
no it's a mirage
Yay Ruby - I am!!!
Hello, Ruby.
I always know I am in the right place when I check into a conversation about someone running naked with sheep.
I saw your back earlier but just missed your actualy presence!
Lol Molly I didn't say I was with a sheep
{{zoozz}}
lol hello, Molly.
I missed the naked sheep :(
No sheep in the paddock?
((((((hugs to you)))))Ruby
Ruby , How is the weather in France?
hi all
Actually molly we are going to get some sheep very soon
How much snow did you get, Hurshy..i was watching the news earlier and a lot of places in the US have declared a state of emergency.
Hi Medusa
Hello, Medusa.
hi sandy
hi zoom
oh it's hard to tell since the wind has blown and drifted it
we had serious snow this week, the most we've had in years, the kind that is wet and covers the trees but is very pretty. Unfortunately, the tulips are up underneath all that so we'll see if damage was done
over a foot anyway. they SAY it is still snowing now but i do not see flakes myself.
Well i hope you stay safe & warm, Hurshy.
here, they're very blase (Fr word?) about snow
I saw snow falling in
yeah blizzards are usually fine as long as you don't drive in them.
scotland but only for a few minutes
and staying in the house in front of the fire is always a great option
I saw some photographs of bad highway pile ups in Massachusetts. Why people feel the need to go out driving in a blizzard, I do not know.
well molly they might be nurses and people who are told to come to work no matter what?
They are saying here on the news that New York is in for a bad time
Scotland can see large amounts of snow..but normally the south of England sees no where near as much.
I had better call my sister in NY
I loved Scotland and the haggis and black pudding
Ruby, I didn't know you had a sister!
yes, she lives in Forest Hills, is older and sends me lots of mail but I never see her
you loved HAGGIS? sandy, you are the most positive life-loving person i have ever encountered.
we've all missed you in babble, sandy!
Now Ruby , how can you speak for everyone ( I believe you tho)
you bring OZ sunshine into the chog
Hurshy , Haggis and black pudding and smoked salmon in Scotland is to die for!!!
you know what's great? ritz bits peanut butter crackers.
I must say it is great to see so many oldies here still
<--Not an oldie, goes to sit in corner
I guess I really have missed Babble
<-- never had haggis but loves black pudding and have had it in US, SA, France, England -- everyplace theye use all of the pig!
Yes that does sound nice, Hurshy.
<-- loves Molly
I've developed a peanute allergy (at my age!) in the last year!
oh dear ruby, i hope that never happens to me!
the black pudding in scotland tasted different and much better than in england- I still liked the food had in England tho
I do not like black pudding myself.
omg Ruby how did that happen, tho I know that you can develop allergies at any age - let's hope you don't develop an allergy to the Tour
sandy is there anything you DON'T like?
since we moved here, I've developed 4 new allergies, all to foods and very serious and scary. Must be the stress of retirement LOL
Yes I hate crickets - I have a great aversion to mud also
one of these years, Sandy is coming to France to watch the Tour with me. This year, it comes through my village
crickets and mud, ok.
a bawn is totally a thing. it is a protective wall/fence.
oh wow!! I will be sooo jealous and i will definitely be coming LOL and I will need a lot of feeding with your great cooking
when you stand and watch, you mostly see a blue of bright spandex
can you smell the steroids?
but we'll be able to sit on the curb at our local resto when it comes by this year; I've already reserved!
(not ON the curb, at a table, on the verge)
goooooooooooood afternoon fellow babblers xxx
with a large glass of wine I would expect
hi worz
hello worzel.
Hello, Worzel.
hi sandy xxx
hi worzel
hiya ruby xx
hi zooz xxx
hi hurshy xxx
Ruby you should read your emails
Ruby there are health professionals who believe that emotional blockages that need to be treated can cause food allergens.
uh oh, maybe I'm blocked!
I'm sure stress doesn't help
Sorry, allergies.
mind, body, body, mind. *they shake hands*
stress does not help Ruby and the mind does play a big part no doubt
That's pretty much it Hursh. And many people don't understand the correlation.
I never had an allergy until I divorced my first husband
i never had a migraine til i had my tonsils out
but the food ones are much scarier than the air-borne ones
I quit having migraines when I divorced my first husband.
I never had an allergy until I was about 32 and we had moved to a new town
lol, bzz
this is a hard grid. i think i am allergic to it.
yes I agree Ruby , the food allergies would be very scary
I have to keep epi shots in the fridge now and husband can't "shoot" me, so I have to do it myself
hello from snowy blowy new york

sounds like fun
And I use "treasure" loosely.
Yes more like a token you always replace with something else.
Or just signing a log that you have found the persons hiding place.

Hello, ChrissieDee.

Z-A says meow and thanks for the birthday greetings
she has found a spot in the sun to be in

The people were friendly, most spoke English so I didnt have language problems, scenery and history was great and best public transportation in the world...even the food was good.
the netherlands are a good place to live or have a holiday :)
does anyone have the sa8?
only problem I saw was the girls in the red light district were kind of ugly...lol
lol Ouwachita! Some are beautiful. But that kind of life is hard on people.
Good day to all. Has anyone heard from our New England buddies in the snowstorm>
bl
hi Scrabs
Hello, Scrabs!
I went with 23 people from 18-90 years of age...and all of us went to the red light district just to experience the atmosphere
Howdy, howdy.
oh my... did you all see, our Babble dictionary itself is in the grid!
Oh, ty!
Yes got that one, Spritey..lol
ouwachita: when you have the time when vacationing in the netherlands, it is kind of a must-see. But we have much nicer places to visit, luckily.
zooz: and past tense!
one of the nicest places I went to was a village of historic buildings...cant remember the name of it now
was it the Archeon?
in Alphen aan de Rijn?
nope
hm ok, not sure then. Nelis' Dutch Village?
nope
or was it in miniature, in Madurodam?
had windmills and all kinds of different shops and homes...not miniature
ohhh windmills... that might have been near where I live. The Zaanse Schans. In Zaanstad.
Found the SA8 at last.
thats it
nice :) Yes, that is special. The very first shop of Albert Heijn is there too.
Need a link (yes, again) to Babble Express, please

hi, babblers
Hello, Welki!
Back from phone call.
morning, scrabb - hope you don't have to travel today
Just to the cross-country ski trails in the park. That takes a few minutes. I will ski and/or snowshoe.
the photo you liked of ellicotville looks like a scene from a dickens novel
everyone survive snowpocalyse?
Hello, Shirlockc.
hi, shirl - did brooklyn get dumped on?
yep
Ellicottville is a village 30 min south of me and is a ski town with 2 large ski resorts there. It is a picturesque village lined with stores and restaurants. I met uusue there 18 months ago when she was driving through.
i'm sure the skiing is great today
There is a ski resort across the valley from me and a group of us from our street had dinner in the restaurant there. The view of the slopes was gorgeous, with the snow falling down hard.
just looked at a map - not even three hours from toronto and only an hour south of buffalo! yet it looks like it's the middle of nowhere :)
Any stats for the A on the 2nd column please?
Yep, but it is in the Alleghany Mtns which are actually the northern Appalachian Mtns. People come from NY, PA and Ohio to ski there. Oh, and lots of Canadians too. There are lodges and homes built on the mountains so people just ski in and out of their homes.
I have a 0, MLFAN

what would you call a rod without worm? Right. But not in En6.
one left. It is S7. From the top S.
I would call Rod, Rod.
do you have 3 su 7/40
hi BabbleRabble, I am glad to see you. I hope things are a little less dark? And how would you make a distinction between a Rod with a worm and one without?
yes, 3 x su7, all below.
i don't know how many times i've read that post, sprite - and i just don't get it. rod? worm? whose rod? who's rod?!
oh wait. Su7/40 x 2, and su7/44.
there is a su7/44 - part of what a journalist or publisher does
hi welki. I want to have the word unba**ed. Which would be a fishing rod without a worm.
i can't get the last su7/40
the last two su 7/40 are the last two esses
hi Glant. Thanks, yes, I have that one.
*fish on the forehead slap* ohhhhh! and i even tried entering that 'word,' too - and yes, it's a word, i do it all the time
su7 hot day + strp to keep pants up

i have 44 left lillian

Hi all. Does Lickety have an extra ba5 word?? Tks.
i just changed the litter trays and i hear scratching in them! why do cats do that?

hi medusa
i don't thinks so pcal
good point laslie!
tks liliann...guess i'll just have to look harder! Hope none of you are in the deep snow this morning.
because cats are like that medusa.you don't own a cat, they own you! :)
hi pcal and leslie
they always choose when you change the trays to stink them out though lol
not here pcal but i think some of our american and canadian friends are
this is true! i have always had cats and am owned by 4 at the mo
My pet rock never scratches in a litter box.
that's why i don't have litter trays anymore.i have 2 and they try to rule the roost..saying that, they probably do!lol
hi lilian...just noticed your flags...we lucked out here in the DC area. just had some really high winds overnight which are finally calming down.
be6/33 please
lol BR and hello
your pet rock is also probably a poor cuddler, br
you have your pet rock well trained br
i don't have that one yet medusa, sorry
glad you don't have any snow and that the winds have calmed down pcal
Duh! found the ba5 i was missing. it's always the easy one that trip you up!
no probs lilliann
or be6/30
i think thats because you expect them to be harder!
i have a be6/30 that's a pl of the 5 but i don't have the other one medusa
that happens to me with re's a lot. i will be looking for some complicated "again" word and it turns out to be, like, read
it is pcal
sounds good...better than other possibilities! gotta get off the chog cause sooner or later i'll mess up and type words in the wrong place. bye all
be + movie: **** is a tramp

be 6/7 - be + lavish praise
snap! lol

ty welki and hi
thanks welki

i can't believe it has taken me this long to get the metal tins!!
The great thing is the words are always in the same place where you found them.
i have days like that!
terday was a perfect one to finish!
i do this game to help my memory and get my brain working, but all it does is give me pressure and hurts my arthritic fingers more! why do i put myself through this??
Masochism, Lilliann? : D

back again
still only have 33/58 of the b words
hi Annie
hi Annie, how did you make out in the blizzard? We got 30", no plowed road and a driveway full
hi peri
sa8 ends in Cain's brother. Means can be satisfied.
Hi peri
ty Molls, trying to spell it correctly
got the sa8, ty Molls
For the pedants, a variation of the spelling of Cain's brother.
bichon, wow, 30 inches. We got about 10 inches but the wind is fierce. I am going to look at my car later and see if it can be dug out today. I doubt it, the wind is awful. I understand Gov. Molloy closed all the roads. Do you still have power?
Molly, I understand what you mean, but won't take the word. I must have a misspelling
The drifts were so bad that when I opened the garage door, I could barely see daylight
we have power, tv and internet. All we need
I got the word from your clue, Molls
s + s***n is a shiny fabric + variation of Cain's brother
okay Molly, got the sa8 ty
bichon, take it easy today. it is supposed to be warmer tomorrow.
bichon, change the middle vowel...at least that was my error in spelling it
not much snow here, thank goodness. No one appears to be shoveling, so I am no either
And hello all...
hi Jill
Good for you Peri. You are not the only one who can pick up a shovel. : )
cheers, Molls. having my G& T today. cheers to you too, Jilly
very true, Molls
Had min G&T last night...along with two scotch ales...
Cheers Peri. *Pours some hair off the dog for Jill*

zoe-anne is celebrating her 17th birthday by sleeping :)
thats the housework done for the night! my back is throbbing!
my sil said my nephew got four feet of snow. they cant get the doors open to to the house. in connecticut.
Wow, that is old for a cat.
<---Is SOOOO glad this storm missed us.

glad it missed us too! and that is way too cold bichon lol
Where abouts are you penquis?
We made out okay in the Hurricane, and I'll take snow over hurricane damage any day.
I do not know 58 b words
it's only 14 here and it's only early afternoon
Well after that, and after what Dorens said about her vet, I am not all that impressed with vets these days.
way up to 19 degrees f. here
i am in coastal Maine
I am not either. they missed a major issue with marigolds cat who died a few months ago
My friend is in Freeport. She got hammered too.
Our Babble playing Jes is an exception to that statement.
yes, i am sure that Freeport was hit hard
yes she is, Molls

oops... as that is what we say when we are drunk...hammered
yes, here too lili
*Makes Lilliann a drink*
Hammered referring to the snowstorm
ty peri and molly for the clues :)
Actually my hammered was referring to actual hammering. : D
i'm going to have a vodka and tonic with my spaghetti bolognaise in a bit :)
compared to the US our little storm was nothing at all
TY Peri for the un9...nbs/nbt and 88 words...TTFN bbl and HAGD all!
i realized that:)
hi everyone -- is the eastern blizzard letting up any?
hi ruby :)
Tutuffn and hagadah Jill
hi nan
hi everyone, long time no see
bfn jilly and hi nan
they used to say that 8F would be too cold for snow, but I guess "common wisdom" is no longer correct with the weird weather everybody's having
34 inches of snow here, Nan. clear and sunny
hi natasha
hi natasha
sa8 please
hi lilliann
hi natasha
wow! -- saw on the news last night that it was coming down at a rate of 4"/hour -- must have kept up for most of the night!
yeah--they said that it was snowing so fast they had to call in the snow plows as they couldn't see
none of our streets are plowed
That is one intense snow storm. If they had to name it (and I think it's very dumb that they did) Nemo is too wimpy.
sa 8: capable of being fulfilled
I agree Molly.
I never heard of naming snowstorms before
It's some dumbass thing they just dreamed up Ruby.
it seems to be the weather channel, which makes money off they hype.
not getting the clue! lol
It's a new thing ruby. Used to be hurricanes were given female names because they were unpredictable. We've come a long way
Oh, the weather channel. That figures.
WAS THAT THE REASON (SHOUTING ON PURPOSE!)
LOL, yep Ruby it was.
think I'm going to have to list for the last 100 - not getting anwhere with this
nemo sounds like a cartoon.. captain nemo.. should have named it" one dam strong storm "
got it at last. thanks
I never knew that and am horrified
But now we are politically correct and name our hurricanes with male and female names. *Snickers*
Names like Nemo. Big advancement
the National Weather Service does name hurricanes and I think they may have given this storm a name when it officially became a blizzard
nemesis would have been better!
for sure nan!
sc7 please
well our last blizzard was named blizzard of 77.. appropirate cuz it was 1977 lol
nabe
got it!
sorry
tyvm ruby

it should be a good game soodle.i'm looking forward to it :)
thanks
<--Very fond of rugby. I like men with a bit of 'mate' on them!!!
*Wonders if Soodle knows what a Rugby queen is*
I've never understood rugby but like the New Zealand team's "dance"
They are called Rugby Chicks here, Molls. And, for a brief period in the far distant past........
i'm watching france and wales and am backing wales as i'm half welsh and the french have gone very quiet!
al 6/24, please?
the fijians and all the pacific countries do the haaka(sp)? do it aswell ruby
I knew it. Never a Rugby queen, but I dated a rugby player. Strange, somewhat damaged breed they are. Fun to drink with though.
tell us more, molly
My son, who I carried for nine months, wiped his bum etc, has the audacity to be an England supporter! I have a €20 bet on with the unpatriotic wretch!
if you like broken noses, cauliflower ears then rugby players are the ones to have :) great drinkers though as molly says
Real men!!
yay..i love your son soodle.i think it is going to be a close match, but hopefully we win :)
Yes Lillann. I have watched a lot of rugby games and seen a lot of guys get carted off the field with gaping, open wounds.
lol Soodle!
Soodle, I feel the same way about my ungrateful, traitorous, Dallas Cowboy loving son. It makes them hard to love at times.
i am torn. i dont follow rugby but i have irish blood
i was banned from a males changing room when i was 2
After all we did for them, eh Molls?
Ahahahaha...2-year-old Lilliann checking out the naked rugby players. Ahahahahaha!
Now, Lilliann, THAT sounds like a good story!
I think if they played naked, I'd watch
That is one of the reasons I love Ruby. : D
lol!
hello science geek. I never found you in FB. Could you e-mail me pls?

I don't remember how to find you! LOL
we are hopeless
i did more than that apparently molly.my dad use to play and my brother and i would go in after each match and get a shower with my dad as we would play our own rugby game and get really muddy and my mam always cooked the food for after the matches.anyway, apparently one day some of the men were lined up and had one leg up on the bench drying themselves and i went along pulling there willies and i got banned and my dad wasn't happy as he had to wait until all the men had had a shower before he could go in with me and my brother.i always said to my dad when i got older if i had have been banned doing it...and he said probably not! typical man!!
Visions of Rubes pressed up against the telly, drooling

Lilliann, I'm hoping your Spag Boll is home made & not a Findus product?
too much information ru! lol
:D....
oops
no, it is homemade but whether the mince is beef, who knows?
Oh my God, in the context of this conversation...spell out spaghetti bolognese.
yeah.. I was wondering what a spag boll was
years ago, during a beef boycott, I cooked horsemeat. It was very orange, but tasted OK
Bwah ha ha!!!
was beginning to wonder if Spag Boll was a relative of Hagis
am off to reheat the horse meat as i made it last night.biab.the french have been eating horse for years it comes from all the horses left by the british in ww1.
there is nowt wrong with saying spag bol :)
you all make me chuckle
ttfn lillian. enjoy your dinner. i am just waiting for mine to cook!
spag boll sounds like pasta testicles.
Theres a huge scandal this side of the world. Horesmeat has been found in foodstuffs purporting to be beef.
lol
I made a miserable spag sauce for dinner
I had horse sausage once in Germany many years ago. Friends let me eat it before they told me what it was
with American/Italian suasage that DIL brings when she visits
pretty hard to screw up spaghetti sauce
funny you should say that ruru. my auntie used to call it that but not so polite!
wow -- there are a slug of be's between the veggies and the mountaineer rope thing that I have no ideas for
uh oh, pb for you medusa!
There are more B's today than you'd find in a flippin' beehive!
bugger! just seen that. lol
i don't see why there is such a big thing about it, as we eat cows and other animals and i know they are saying that horses get given a drug which can cause cancer to us but it is also said that cows milk also causes breast cancer,so do we stop eating meat altogether?
will take a book with me
i had the same convo last night lilliann!
I worry more about the antibiotics they give animals and in farm-raised seafood
I think its the 'ick' factor, Lill
I try to buy antibiotic free and hormone free as much as possible
labeling is very poor here and when they say "bio" who knows what they mean
stats for the Y please
and farm-raised chicken doesn't mean they're not raised in a tiny box on a farm

Last night around 9:30, in very spectacular fashion, the neighbor two houses down lost a massive pine tree which ripped out the power lines and made our transformer go BOOM and spark like the 4th of July.

So, this morning, after we got plowed out, I took mom and the boys to the Emergency Shelter for the town. We had some coffee and soup. In the meantime, we found out that my MIL one town over is fully functioning, so we are now here.

Not quite as easy as yesterday with all the gerund endings...

Kept looking for a 5/6 combo...now can see it is neither

The su7/40 word is not moon plus be 4/6 word ivesy3

Hi Min :)

<---Couldn't figure out why she had all the su words and not Ivesy's word : D
su 7/44?
under+to correct an article
su 7/44 ship under water and what you do when you reread what you wrote and correct grammar, etc
Must have been still asleep when I looked at the grid this morning. Didn't realize there were so many B words!
ty Jilly
Jill, LOL
Hello crossy...LOL
Many of those B words are evil
As in, not words (but we get lectured when we say that)
Thanks for the warning, Molly.
<---always loves molly's reassuring words ;)
New Babble strategy...when in doubt, type in gibberish
I see the run of what I call "sheep words"
That would be a flock of sheep words
It's a weird grid when the A and B words alone are almost 100 words.
stat for the 9 letter word?
un9/78
thanks.
Just stats, not a clue. It's so easy to do.
de 5/16?
A de 5/16 word rhymes with the be 5/18 word bichon
Planes are de5ed because of snow storms
tyvm Min and Molly
For those not finished, I have posted story in profile.
I am taking a break now.I will be back in a little while
<wipes brow> Made it through the B's.
*Hands Bea a glass of wine*
<----buried in the b's...
Thanks so much, Molly.
If I have to watch my basketball team lose again, you can hand me the entire bottle...
finally done with the B's!
*Makes Peri a gin & tonic*
Hello. Just starting on this sunny, crisp winter day. I finishd some little projects that have been nagging at me and my brow is not furled.
nea
Hello stidg!
Hi jilly. Hope our weather is heading your way for it is very nice to see blue skies.
According to weather report we are supposed to stay stormy through tomorrow...but blow it down our way by all means!!
Okay. The blue skies you can attribute to strong lungs of your Babble friend in Washington (state.)
Hello everyone :)
Hi smores. Just enjoying the grid.
<----b's done...WHEW!!
wtg jilly :)
I don't recall ever seeing this many B's in a grid.
*Pours Jill straight gin because she's had so much to drink this weekend, I figure she's gone hard core*
<---now Molly.... ;P
Speaking of hard core, I had to laugh watching the movie last night. Denzel's friend, played by John Goodman (who I LOVE) had a beer bottle opener mounted to his dash board. : D
what movie Molly? Love them both
I didnt even know there were that many B words in the world!!
Flight. Nothing else funny about it though. Very depressing story about an alcoholic.
<----has sympathy for deeha!
Have you seen the sunglasses with the bottle opener?
58 b words are cruel and unusual. I shall be working on those for awhile.
Yes but I have a hard time believing that thing won't break after opening two beers.
Saw a pair for the 1st time yesterday, saleslady said they have been out for a long time.
I knew someone in college (a rugby player) who used to wear the key chain kind of bottle opener around his neck on a chain. Talk about your always ready kind of guy.
I've seen it. Depressing, but great acting
basal
Wow, I used to always have one on my key chain, but not around my neck. :)
doh, off I slink
If he was a rugby player, I'm surprised he just didn't use his bare hands.
Well....must toddle off again, 100 left..ya...100..da5/14ing amount...
<-----has all the B's now.. very smug
OH, rugby players use their teeth btw...
congrats ruru :)
I need 11 more
Or his teeth, Bea. : D
I see Jill beat me to that punch.
or his thighs
Ha...a friend of my exes used to open bottles with his teeth until he cut his lip wide open...dumba**
I love how Jill is all prim and proper "Oh no Molly, I couldn't have a drink before I get nbt" and then she comes up with something like that. Can't hide your true colors, no siree.
Dont know if you guys have heard about the 'scandal'over here where horsemeat is being discovered in burgers, lasagnas etc. Fir5st 'a DNA trace' then yesterday 100%!! In well kbnown supermarket brands. I can laugh - I am a vegetarian
:) ruru
I think one of the burger chains here found horsemeat in their hamburger.
I'll laugh too. I don't buy frozen food.
yuck Deeha
Was it just the frozen?
ewww.. was it Wendy's??? Have it your neigh?
LOL! Ru
ewww
It was Burger King.
Yes, and just the cheaper types. Oddly enough the first lot came from Ireland and the second lot from France - if we lived in France it would only be the BEST that had horsemeat
I guess Burger King had to pull the Trigger first?
first la5/12 pls
Yes, I know a lot of places eat horse, but they know that's what it is and have the choice.
L:otd ofjokes obviously -the waitress in Tesvco asked me what I wanted on my burger. I said I think I'll have a fiver each way
Peri la5/12 cyclist La*** Armstrong

Ahem. Apologies. Its Aidan. Not Aiden. (Thats a whole lot of Capitol A's. )

Well, at least you know his name.

Cos, I know you aren't watching anymore, but ABC canceled 666.
I hope they are going to show the last few episodes of 666.... I enjoyed that show!
I thought they did a while ago? Or was that just rumors? I was planning on watching it again on hulu when I have more attention span for it
might be able to find them on hulu
note to self...type faster
* wishes hulu were available in Canada sigh *
i love hulu its like having a dvr :)
Four more episodes in February, but no Season 2.
Hulu is just about all I watch. I never catch live TV.
the following has been doing good in ratings. i like it its pretty good
I can get that kind of thing thru my cable provider but I wud have to pay
that's the one new show I like, too, cos...
I think The Following is getting sluggish.
Now Zero Hour, THAT is going to be a fun show.
3rd episode was a surprise twist for me. didnt see that one coming
zero hour. yes i been waiting for that. 1600 Penn Ave is TERRIBLE
we've only like 2 or 3 episodes so far...but each one now will have to have it's only thriller ending to keep me intriduged
(referring to the Following)
Sneak peak of Zero Hour on ABC's web site. I watched it the other day.
i was sad when i finished episode 3 and realized i had to wait til monday lol
will check . hope its captioned
abc.com has the full episode now
and it is captioned!
nice
I wish I could play abc.com on my roku
any thoughts on the new one with the "time" thing?
That is Zero Hour. It's pretty good.

Hi Liz
hi liz!
Happy birthday for tomorrow invictus :)
Hello(( lizlin))
thanks
30...I hardly remember ye!
Beautiful day here - hope you're all keeping warm and safe.
I am kind of freaked out about it. Not that 30 is old, but because I will be in my 30s when my daughter graduates high school.
you got that right, jilly.
Be happy for that invictus...any other kids?
Yes, a son...they are 8 and 6.
I was in my mid 40's when my kids started graduating..it is a GOOD thing; you have so much left of good years when kids gone
I know, but I am not ready for them to be that big. I miss my tiny babies.
Happy birthday for tomorrow, Invictus...mine is on the 11th.
thanks, happy birthday to you too, zoozzoom
LOL...you will get through it and be happy. It's just a part of life. I am just glad that we invested time as a family as a priority
Happy birthday for tomorrow from my perspective, zooz (almost tomorrow for you too!)
happy bday, zooz.
Mine's this month too, so I agree with TO's comment
:D
Many thanks babble friends :-)
It is mixed emotions watching them grow, but mostly happy. And my son assures me that he is not going to be anything when he grows up and will live with me forever! lol
♫ Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you, Happy Birthday invictus and zoozzoom ♫ Happy Birthday to you! ♫
A son's a son till he takes a wife, but a daughter's a daughter al her life (sorry invictus)
all

Good evening Babblers
hallo wht
Hail Wht, King of Babble!
How's the weather Wht? Are you hip deep in it?
<--wonders how he fits into the royal scheme
jester
ruru, Molly named me King of Babble one day in which I managed to get nbt and fireworks on the same word.
I was thinking Duke Of Pundom, Ru.
ah... that makes sense wht
The weather is cold and clear, now. But we had almost two feet of snow overnight last night.
We had 30" here in CT. Road still not plowed
Ruru is clearly Duke of Pundom.
Sorry, but Archbishop Of Crabbytown is already taken.
guess that's better than Duke of Pudnom
Or maybe that should be Duke of Pundomonium
We spent almost 5 hours shovelling today and we still have more to do.
<---wants to be Prime Minister of Bad Jokes

You can be that too. I so decree.
Now I can be Prime Riv
Same here wht. Lots more to do.

No snow blower Wht?
We have a bit to finish up on our drive and we need to do neighbors driveway.
could i get a hint for the lower left n?
We have a snow blower that we share with 5 other households.
We do not have a snow blower.
pertaining to the nose syb
And a snow blower doesn't help with walks with steps on them, and things like that.
What a good idea, co-oping the snow blower.
And it doesn't work on all types of snow, like hard icy stuf
The place where the snow blower is most useful is getting through the piles left by the snowplows.
Hoping someone with a snow blower takes pity on us
A number of years ago our neighbor, who is now 95 said that he would buy us a snowblower if we would clean his driveway. We said now, but that we would split the cost of the snow blower and clean his driveway.
We mentioned this to a neighbor and they said they wanted in on the deal and by the time we were done, we had 6 familys involved.
can't you just have Marion Berry come over.. or Keith RIchards?
I would be whipped after five hours of shoveling snow.
I came in and started eating Motrin.
These are the stories that make me wonder about the people who say "Oh, I love snow!"
whipped?
All of those people are under 14
Exhausted, spent, wiped out, tired.
ah
We got a robo-call from the town. They said that all the streets are passable but starting tomorrow morning they are going to start widening the streets.
"Passable" is a relative term in two feet of snow.
We have had no plowage at all.
This is good. Our street is cleared only wide enough for one car to pass. I think I shovelled 10 feet from the street before I hit the driveway.
I have made a new word: nublet. However, enable doesn't care to accept it. bummer.
Where are you bichon?
Of course, where would we go. But, I doubt that emergency vehicles could get in
I like it Champ.
what would nublet mean?
Central CT. Some towns have plowed, some not.
me too molly!
Late this afternoon a couple of cars came down our street, so we figured the travel ban had been lifted.
They showed Milford in the news tonight. It had 38 inches. Did you have that much as well?
I think it's a cross between a niblet and a nub, so maybe nugget-like?
wht, my sister in arlington hasn't answered her phone. Think i can assume she's still alive? how much did you have?
Not sure Ru. But once in college, my roommate was reading to me from a romance novel (and laughing her ass off) and lost it when she came to the part about "her tense nubbin".
But smaller, definitely smaller.
We had at least 30" I used a yardstick to measure. Of course the drifting against our garage door was much higher than that.
We had about 2 feet.
Just looked at the Hartford Courant site and some towns won't have roads passable til Monday.
And I don't mean to discount your snow storm bichon...my sis-in-law in Boston had a ton.
i only have about 15 inches. Normally that would seem a lot, but not this time
I'm happy to have power, Tv and internet. We dug out part of the driveway and the fluffs can runn around free
<---Thinks 15 inches is more than enough
Ditto. Awesome that you aren't disconnected or uncomfortable bichon!
We also felt that we were fortunate in that we didn't loose power.
i had a guy with a plow come do it this morning. don't know how much it will cost. don't care. all i care about is that there was not much wind so didn't lose power. I think i'm suffering from PTSD... any thought of losing power after last fall.... i lose my mind. had flashlights and all ready last night
Big snowstorms with power outages are depressing. We had a 30 hour outage in the winter of 2009.
Snowstorms become social events because it is one time that you see all your neighbrors as they are all out at the same time shovelling.
i lost it for three days in the winter of 2010... but after sandy... twelve days. jsut too much
Hello all!! Back to finish this bad boy.

12 days with no power is enough to put anyone into clinical depression. You were with friends some of that time, right Dorens?
yes i was molly... but had to come home every day to feed the cats and spend some time with them... and each time brought more clothes and stuff to annie's house. By the time I came home, it seemed half my belongings were at her house. I was lucky, for sure, but it still was a drag and a half.
I'm just glad you had somewhere to go. I can't imagine living without power that long.
Yipes!! Dorens...how awful...

Hi Peach.
Hey there, Molly.

Much better now, BabbleRabble, thanks. I have COPD bronchitis. Worked too long in a smoke filled atmosphere. Are you doing well?

That is great news, BabbleRabble.

Great...now I want brownies....
I have some Thin Mints. Want some?
I have been craving chocolate all day...
Would rather have chocolate than a G&T right now..
I passed on the icky new mango girl scout cookies. Who's dumb idea was that?
REally??!! Yuck...
*Sends the Lindt truffle delivery truck to Jill's house*
<---wishes that were possible...love Lindts!
Mango Cremes. They are supposed to be healthy. As if.
They have "nutrients derived from fruits!" Ahahahaha!
My girlfriends and I were in the Lindt store once and watched in wide-eyed wonder as the woman in front of us checked out with 200 dollars worth of candy.
I could spend $200 right now...LOL
Going to have to depart and find ANYTHING to satisfy my chocolate craving...bbl
Hi again :)
Jilly, you still here?
Oh well...
Just fixed 1min brownies in a mug....mmmmm
are those good? i've never tried them
Yes, I kinda changed it up some, but yes they are delicious
Hi all :)
Hey Liz :)
Not liking this grid much especially as I've not had much time. 48 to go!
I have two cake in a cup recipes. One chocolate and one caramel apple. Both very good.
Ooo....caramel apple, sounds delightful
Yummy!
May I please have a clue for ba6-36? Thanks
I use a pack of Swiss Miss Dark chocolate sensation cocoa mix instead of the cocoa and sugar. Also substitute 3T of leftover coffee for the water and add a few chocolate chips.
ba + high score tile + what men wear around their necks, peach.
almost like what a man would wear around his heck
Thanks so much, Lizlin
V true smores
And smores also.
lol...saw yours as I was typing, meant to hit backspace and hit enter
double clues often help!
The coffee instead of water and adding the chocolate chips are a must.
Coffee and chocolate go so well :)
need food, brb
(In my Forest Gump voice) Just like peas and carrots
lol - preference is choc / coffee!
Using list - grid improving a bit!
Maybe Forest should have said "Me and Jenny are just like chocolate and coffee"
Probably a better line but not so funny!
:)
So you use coffee in yours too Molly?
Yes, and it would have tread all over Mama Gumps line about how life is like a box of chocolates.
lol...
And probably too complex for forest gump too!
The recipe I have calls for coffee.
Ahh...I
the one I have uses water
lol...also says chocolate chips optional...yeah right, as if
Do you use oil or butter/margarine? Butter/margarine is much better.
I use canola oil, I'll have to try it with butter next time.
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
Hi Min :)
We were talking about this recipe at work once and some health nut popped up with the fact that she used pumpkin puree instead of oil to lower the fat content. We all looked at her like she was from Mars.
Seriously, if you want a healthy snack, eat your carrot sticks and don't mess with brownie recipes.
lol...never heard of that one...I do like to use applesauce instead sometimes
Hi there, Min. Hope all is well with you.
Not for brownies of course, but in butter or spice cake recipes.
Hi Min :)
Hi Min, what's your snow situation?
Okay smores...need that brownie recipe! Post it on your page?
ty for your story, as ever, Min :)
lol
I'm jumping into the middle of this conversation, but speaking of health, I found out if you drink a glass of water before before going to bed it can reduce your chances of dying in your sleep. Don't know if it's true
okay Jilly
Just got done making some chocolate sauce for ice cream...didn't even have chocolate sauce in the house...the gods are conspiring against me!
You are welcome Lizlin. I hoped it helped find words.
Sure did :)
Thank you for that somewhat morbid fact Min. : O
Well, you won't die of thirst ..
You don't die because you are up going potty often...LOL
Some friends of mine gave me white hot chocolate. Is that any different from regular hot chocolate?Never had it before. Don't really like to eat white chocolate
LOL!
I guess substituting beer won't work.
LOL torgone! That is true and hello there! How are U?
But it'd taste good!
Or tonic water? (with gin of course)
We love our GinnyJill.
MollyL,we did not get as much snow as others.Maybe 7-8 inches. It was easy to snow plow driveway today.
Oh good Min, glad you didn't get clobbered.
Actually,it was really easy for me because I didn't do it.Hubby snow plowed driveway and then made trails in the backyard so dog would have a place to urinate
I heard amounts were variable in NYC
i was in midtown today. not too bad at all
Oh clever Min. Send husband out to shovel snow so you can have the computer. : D
May I please have a clue for ac7-36? Thanks
No snow herre ..
Okay Jilly, it's on there
or here ..
same four letters as the word before peach
how about an 6/7?
Thanks much, Dorens.
Pt the an6-18 before it.
So Molly, care to share the caramel apple recipe? Sounds interesting.
i need the 6 peach
Oh, crap, Dorens....yeah...ansate...

Congrats, smores!!!!!
Congratulations smores on fireworks! Hooray for you
Yay smores. Congrats :)
WooT WooT WooT smores!!!
ok molly, so if i don't have instant oats and only have regular, what will happen?
Nothing Dorens, you can use either.
cool. i like the idea of that. it looks tasty, and I don't have to feel guilty about making an entire cake and what to do with it
Thank you Molly :)
And if it really matters in some recipe, you can give regular oats a whirl in the blender or food chopper to make them smaller.
do you mix it in the cup?
hi all
I can't wait to try them both!
home again home again jiggidy-jig
oh. is that what makes them instant? i guess that makes sense
hello jmc!!
hey jilly
Hi jmc :)
It is a bit spongier than regular cake but it's similar to those Warm Delight desserts that Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines sells.
hmmm they are too sweet for me. . . .
I will definately be trying it soon.
I have 3 left.....su6-27 the 1st and su6-27 the 3rd, please......thanks
i think i may try it with only 2 tbs of sugar

The other day my coworker gave me some advice on how to not let others bother me. She said I should do yoga and to put whatever bothers me into different baskets. She says that she has baskets for different things depending on what bothers her. So then when another colleague upset her a few days later, I think she forgot about her baskets so I had to remind her.
Thanks so much, smores. I'll watch the news and come back for the flip. Thanks for all the help.
that was nice of you min. . .
See you later GA
Go Lizlin go!
Oh, Min, that is a good one.
Goodbye gapeach! I will see you tomorrow in the log.

Has anyone heard of the store Basketville in Putney, Vermont?Well I would have to buy all their baskets in order to put away every little thing that bothers me about my husband into different baskets.
bye jilly
Night Jilly, sleep well :)
Min, I think your colleague is a fruitcake and her baskets overturned years ago.
Kill'em with kindness smores. That is my motto.
I'm not sure you could capture cabana boys in an image anyway.
you could probably group them into categories. . .
i am not wild about the candle either. . . work still needs to be done on the flag when i am home for a whole day. . . that will be monday
I like molly's suggestion for quadrant 4 too!
I'm glad you said that MollyL! She is a total fruitcake!
Y'all can keep killing 'em with kindness if you want, but a firm kick in the ass works much better.
lol
Clue for un 6 / 27 the 2nd one please!
min the way i stayed in love with my husband was to think each night of what i appreciated about him that day. . . and what i had done as a gift for him that day. . . and he did the same for me
I never knew how to describe her to people, but you hit the nail right on the head MollyL.
hello clue for the last su 7 please

Sorry, meant the 3rd one.
