1:48 am

oh, sorry, very sleepy, only one tonight

1:48 am

1:48 am

1:49 am

I see you're on your own

1:49 am

he crashed very quickly tonight

1:49 am

just tea and off to bed

1:49 am

I won't be staying long -- just trying for nbt

1:50 am

guess I've had it for a while, I forget to watch

1:50 am

but that doesn't look easy

1:51 am

do you want a clue for the 9?

1:51 am

sure!

1:51 am

it's a container for burial of bones

1:51 am

I googled it

1:52 am

what does it start with?

1:52 am

oh, sorry, os

1:53 am

continuation of the os4 before it

1:55 am

absolutely no idea what that might be (very sleepy)

1:55 am

just google the clue I gave, it comes up there

1:56 am

ty

1:57 am

got it eventually, but didn't realise you meant the plural

1:58 am

oh, sorry, don't remember if that was mentioned

1:59 am

no, just read back

1:59 am

yes, said containers

2:00 am

very sleepy too

2:00 am

in fact I think I fell asleep while playing a few hands tonight

2:00 am

Just a quick hi, flosey and jill - just popping in for a few minutes :)

2:00 am

hi Liz

2:00 am

it's a container for burial of bones is what I saw at 1:51

2:01 am

hi liz -- I'll be popping out when I get the iz4/9

2:01 am

the clue that was given to me, a bit earlier

2:01 am

izar

2:02 am

Have you got the we 4, 7, 7 and 8, Jilli - it describes the way you are feeling!

2:02 am

oops

2:02 am

you got it

2:02 am

Well, the we 4 doesn't but the others build from that!

2:03 am

wow -- nbt/nbs! Thanks flosey and liz!

2:03 am

yw jilli

2:03 am

yw jilli :)

2:04 am

OK I'm off again - see you soon :)

2:04 am

all that with a mere 29 words, and I'm heading for bed -- goodnight/evening all...*poof

2:04 am

Sleep well - pleasant dreams :) - to you too flosey :)

2:06 am

just took my cup to the kitchen, goodnight jilli, I'll be following soon

2:29 am

g00d morning

2:31 am

good morning to you ruby

2:32 am

nice to see you

2:32 am

hello flosey, have been in the game less because my computer was dying

2:32 am

2 to go, then I'm off to bed

2:32 am

now i have a ew one, but can't find the punctuation

2:33 am

(or type properly) but it's nice to see flosey the whiz kid

2:33 am

lol, once in a while, perhaps

2:33 am

a new computer, how nice ruby

2:33 am

you mean the keyboard isn't same as the old one?

2:34 am

mine was old and increasingly sluggish, was driving me crazy

2:34 am

that would be frustrating

2:34 am

this is a Fr keyboard and even tho he put qwerty underneath, I can't find most of the marks like arrows, et

2:35 am

ah, but you'll get use to it soon

2:36 am

qwerty?

2:36 am

I shouldn't complain and new puppy is coing next week

2:36 am

lovely

2:37 am

standard keyboard is caled qwerty

2:37 am

oh, have not heard the word before

2:38 am

it's even accepted as a scrabble word

2:38 am

and my french/english dictionary is so old - pre computer agae

2:38 am

probably 30 years before computers

2:41 am

I learned to type in 1956 on a royal manual typewriter with no letters on the keys

2:45 am

yes, all school typewriters had blank keys - you should have seen what I learned on, they were really old - took typing in grade 9, that would be just after WW11

2:45 am

WW2

2:45 am

the keys had little metal rims around them

2:46 am

it was a blessing to have been forced to take typing as I worked my way through college taking typing jobs

2:46 am

yes, one son took advantage of a mother who could type his essays

2:47 am

I knew boys like that haha

2:47 am

Good morning! :)

2:47 am

my so taught himself to type, tho not very well, by taking a course on his computer

2:47 am

the other son took typing and did his own - that was when computers just came in and he knew right away what he wanted to - and did it

2:47 am

hi jommie

2:48 am

good morning Jommie

2:48 am

how old are your sons (no question mark)

2:48 am

Hi Ruby, hi Flosey :).

2:48 am

maze

2:48 am

whoops, sorry

2:48 am

one will be 50 this year, the second one just turned 48

2:50 am

mine will be 50 also

2:50 am

we wanted 4, so had them close, 1963, 65, 67 and 68

2:50 am

I just have one

2:51 am

2 of ours don't have children, the other 2 have one each

2:51 am

I saw that you were talking about typing and keyboards. My boyfriend works in the computer business and a few weeks ago he had to give a new computer and a new keyboard to a man from Spain. The man totally freaked out because he couldn't find the ñ-key. He kept on repeating: where's the ñ? Where's the ñ? LOL

2:52 am

wow, that would be very frustrating

2:54 am

Yes, especially because my boyfriend didn't understand what the man was talking about initially :).

2:55 am

oh, wow, hubby and I took a year of spanish when we were travelling there - nothing remains!

2:56 am

if you don't use it, you lose it

2:56 am

and while there, they wanted to learn English

2:56 am

I know what you mean. I took French classes when I was at school, but I don't remember much of it either.

2:58 am

well folks, just got fireworks, last word sa6/21

2:58 am

I'm from the Netherlands and it's easier to learn English, because that language is all around you.

2:59 am

Good job, flosey! Did you also manage to finish the large grid on sunday? It took me several hours to complete it.

2:59 am

yqy. the plumber just arrived

2:59 am

oh, interesting, have you met Sprite? (babbler)

2:59 am

my kitchen sink is like a fountain at the moment

3:00 am

no, gave up on it but I did finish the 744 - several months ago now

3:00 am

yes, now we have two nedrelandaises

3:00 am

oh ruby, hope it isn't filling your kitchen? Drains working ok?

3:01 am

Yes, I've met Sprite once, but must of the time I'm playing babble without chatting.

3:01 am

I can't imagine finishing those huge ones, but at least they're fun for the tyros ike me

3:02 am

it's been increasingly broken over the past couple of weeks. sometimes it squirts me in the face

3:02 am

I was just determined with that one, and we were helping each other, was fun - don't think I'd try another one like that though

3:02 am

fortunately the kitche floor is all tile and I try to keep upp with the water

3:02 am

well Jommie, nice to meet you, hope to see you again

3:02 am

and now I must be off to bed

3:03 am

just after 1: am

3:03 am

goodnight all

3:03 am

Unfortunately I wasn't here yet during the 744 grid. I managed to finish it because there was a list in someones profile. Otherwise it would have been impossible.

3:03 am

sweet dreams, flosey

3:03 am

thanks ruby, hugs

3:03 am

Nice to have met you too, flosey, and good night!

3:04 am

how many languages do you hae, jommie

3:04 am

Oh no, ruby, it's not a nice thing to have water all over the place. I hope you can fix it soon!

3:04 am

I have no puctuation to speak of

3:04 am

hae

3:05 am

I speak Dutch, English and a bit of German. And you?

3:05 am

plumber is working and I', hiding in the studio

3:05 am

just English and French

3:05 am

my typing is awful on my new keyboard, so forgive the typos

3:07 am

Oh, that's ok, if you forgive me my grammatical mistakes :).

3:08 am

the plumber just cut off the water and keeps yelling for me

3:08 am

husband is useless

3:08 am

he refuses to speak French

3:09 am

That sounds like a lot of stress! Why does he refuse to speak French?

3:10 am

because he doesn't want to make mistakes (we're american) My feeling is that I'd rather communicate and mistakes be damned

3:11 am

I agree with you completely! In my experience people really appreciate it when you are trying to speak their language. And they will forgive you your mistakes.

3:12 am

exactlyenglish, so they are very helpful and we live in small village and nobody speaks

3:13 am

English was supposed to come at the end, but if I touch the wrong key, my sentences get rearranged

3:13 am

It would be a lot easier for your hubby if he would speak French, because now he has to rely on you all the time to do the talking.

3:15 am

unfortunately, he likes having me do the talking

3:15 am

Oops, new keyboards can be quite frustrating sometimes. But I never realised that there are so many different keyboards. Do you also have a key for the ç?

3:15 am

it's a french keyboard but with English underneath

3:15 am

very weird to type

3:16 am

But what if you're not around to do the talking?

3:17 am

That sounds very weird indeed :). I can imagine your confusion and I hope you will get used to your new keyboard soon!

3:17 am

he just sits there. won\t even answer the phone.

3:17 am

When sprite visited us, he spoke with her in English, of course, one of the rare occasions

3:17 am

Oh no, that's very frustrating!

3:19 am

half and must make husband his apero

3:19 am

very nice to meet you, jommie

3:19 am

Oh, how nice that Sprite visited you.

3:20 am

It's very nice to meet you too, Ruby! Good luck with the sink and I hope to speak to you soon.

3:21 am

Did you meet Sprite on babble or did you already know each other?

3:21 am

hi all

3:22 am

Hi Medusa!

3:23 am

hey jommie

3:23 am

How is the weather at your place? Spring is in the air in the Netherlands and the sun is shining :).

3:27 am

it is very sunny here today. :)

3:28 am

Nice! I like the spring, because the flowers in our garden start to grow again (unfortunately, so do the weeds ;)).

3:31 am

lol. i love winter.

3:32 am

I think that every season has it's charms, because I love snow as well :).

3:32 am

this is true. i dont lie the heat though

3:34 am

hello all - back for 43

3:35 am

Oh no, me neither! Last summer, we had a heat wave and it was approximately 26 degrees celsius in our bedroom and 30 degrees in our living room...

3:37 am

lol Jommie 26 to 35 C is a normal summer day for us

3:37 am

ugh!!!!!!!!

3:43 am

Hi ursh! Wow, 26 to 35 C on a normal summer day...!

3:44 am

When it's 35c in the Netherlands, the air is so thick that you can hardly breathe.

3:45 am

35 is often on a very hot day - but 26 - 28 is quite normal for summer

3:46 am

But do you have a cool spot where you can sit down on a hot day?

3:47 am

Jommie - you either get in the pool or go to an air conditioned room

3:48 am

we have just started another run of 30+ days, looks like another record.

3:49 am

I like a nice dive in the pool on a hot day :). We

3:49 am

We've only got a small, inflatable 'swimming pool', LOL

3:49 am

nbs nbt

3:51 am

Wow Lynxxx, that's very hot as well :(. What do the forecasts look like? Is it going to be cooler anytime soon?

3:51 am

Lol, there's a Greek god in the grid today ;).

3:52 am

not for about 8 days but at least it looks like it will cool down at night so that makes it bearable

3:54 am

I understand completely! When it's hot at night, you can't sleep and when you're tired, it's even harder to cope with the heat.

3:54 am

...and we have water in the dams so no restrictions which makes life easier.

3:55 am

Sometimes, when it's very warm, I sleep in a wet t-shirt and that cools me off a little bit.

3:57 am

I'm glad to hear that. We've hardly ever had restrictions in the Netherlands when it comes to water usage, but I can imagine that it makes life a little less easier.

4:13 am

100 down - enough for tonight - bye all

4:14 am

ttfn lyn. sleep well

4:14 am

Bye lyn, sleep well!

4:56 am

fireworks

4:57 am

Good job, medusa!!

4:57 am

thanks jommie.

4:57 am

any help needed before i go?

4:57 am

good afternoon all

4:58 am

Yes, have you got a hint for ae 4? I can't find it.

4:58 am

Hi sprite, goedemorgen ;). How are you

4:58 am

?

4:59 am

jommie, go left, then diagonal right, down, then sideways

4:59 am

hi Jommie, niet verkeerd, kat in het bakkie hier. En jij?

4:59 am

use a in 4th row, 2nd column

5:02 am

hi rose *hugs*

5:02 am

hey spritey

5:03 am

Sprite: hier is alles ook goed. Het zonnetje schijnt heerlijk! (translation for those who don't speak Dutch: everything is ok and the sun is shining ;)).

5:03 am

Thanks grannyrose!

5:04 am

Lovely weather here today as well.

5:05 am

I kept staring at the a in the top row :).

5:05 am

Sprite: spring has finally arrived :). Where do you live?

5:05 am

where in holland do you live, Jommie?

5:05 am

ditto here, jommie, was very confused for a bit

5:06 am

Lol, we asked each other the same question at the same time :). I live in Zwolle, and you?

5:06 am

I am in Zaanstad, near Amsterdam

5:06 am

Grannyrose: yes, the grid can be very confusing sometimes :).

5:07 am

sorry jommie. i seem to be a magnet for my cats and did not see! they are all over me at the mo!

5:07 am

I've never been to Zaanstad. Is it a nice place to live?

5:08 am

yes, it is nice here. Zaansche Schans om de hoek.

5:08 am

Lol medusa. My cats do that all the time. How many cats do you own? I have 3: 1 male and 2 females. And they're all very hairy and cuddly :).

5:11 am

I've never been to the Zaansche Schans as well, but I'd like to go there one day. My boyfriend got 2 free tickets for the Rijksmuseum as a Christmas present from his boss, so we may combine the Rijksmuseum and a visit to the Zaansche Schans :).

5:11 am

it is worth it.

5:13 am

Thanks Sprite, I will remember it :). My grandparents used to live in Beverwijk, but they passed away years ago, so I hardly ever go there anymore.

5:14 am

We may even pay a visit to the beach. It is so far away now.

5:14 am

nothing is far away in the netherlands

5:15 am

sprite. my local doctor decided that taking NSAIDS ad/or inflammatory drugs was contra-indicated with my cardiac history. so she refused to give me a script for them. that was 2 weeks ago. since then have been slowly going backwards. at the moment can barely walk due to the pain in my hips and lower back.

5:16 am

damn rose! That is awful. Any chance your specialist can help out?

5:17 am

have an appointment with my cardiologist on tuesday. will ask him why i cannot have these drugs,\.if he says no reason, well i'm just gonna demand a script then and there.

5:17 am

good for you. As for your local doctor: she should be looking into other meds if she thinks these are not good for you. Just refusing is stupid.

5:18 am

Oh no rose, that's very awful. I hope you and your cardiologist can work something out.

5:18 am

Local doctors don't always see 'the whole picture'.

5:20 am

Sprite: you're right; everything in the Netherlands is nearby (at least: compared to other countries ;)).

5:20 am

*giggle* ni9ce to see you both so indignant on my behalf. maybe i should "walk" into to see her, the way i am. she was so sure that extra strength paracetamol was the answer. could have told her that was not the case.

5:21 am

no way paracetamol will do the trick for you. Your pain is deeper than paracetamol will reach. Yes, by all means, go to her and let her see what she is creating. Tell her to find an alternative.

5:22 am

Rose, that's not such a bad idea ;). That way she can see for herself that you're not doing well without your medication.

5:22 am

and work has decided to start me on 9 hour shifts...needless to say by about 7 hours i am pretty much hobbling around, with my butt stuck out at a strange angle. and i do have to increase my hours in order to keep my job.

5:22 am

What kind of job do you do, Rose?

5:23 am

*sob* i was cruising on the anti-inflammatories. jommie, i am a recovery room nurse. not much of an opportunity to sit down.

5:25 am

don't accept the decision, rose. Seriously. You cannot work with that much pain, you will ruin everything you gained with the operations.

5:25 am

Well, I should definitely make a new appointment with your local doctor then, when your health and your job are at stake.

5:26 am

kind of between a rock and a hard place, aren't you, rose? 9-hour shifts are killing.

5:26 am

i know, spritey. it's so unfair. i was doing so well until the anti-inflams were taken away. in tasmania i was rock climbing for goodness sake!!

5:27 am

you need them back and pronto

5:27 am

not mention 2 hour hikes and 3-4 hours walfs

5:27 am

I totally agree with sprite.

5:27 am

*walks*

5:29 am

wells the course i just did last week on clinical pharmicology, did indicate that anti-inflamms and NSAIDS are contra-indicated in a patient with cardiac failure...which i do not have.

5:29 am

Rose, is there any way you can contact your cardiologist a bit sooner and ask him if it can do any harm to take those meds? That way, you may not have to wait untill tuesday. And it may make it easier to get your meds back.

5:30 am

looks lilke the lady needs to check her facts

5:31 am

you know, jommie...i can...i have his direct phone number. i promise to do it tomorrow, thanx for reminding me.

5:31 am

good idea. If your cardiologist does not object, why should the local doctor.

5:33 am

true sprite, and over here, if it is an usual medication, the pharmacists will dispense it with a script owing.

5:33 am

Your welcome, Rose. And if the local doctor still refuses, maybe your cardiologist can give you your prescription.

5:34 am

even better. Take good care of yourself.

5:34 am

jommie, that's what i had planned

5:34 am

they can fax a prescription as well

5:34 am

sorry to interrupt your day/night, you two. i do appreciate your input.

5:35 am

you didn't interrupt anything. Silly rose.

5:35 am

oh, yeah, sprite. must grab the pharmacists fax before i ring the cardiologist.

5:35 am

That's ok Rose, you're not interrupting my day. I'm glad I can help out.

5:36 am

loves ya spritey. and jommie? do so hope we can become friends.

5:36 am

there. With a bit of luck you will have your meds back tomorrow. *hugs* And please interrupt my day or night whenever you want. ;)

5:37 am

on a side note: th4 is a decidedly unfriendly grid.

5:38 am

Rose, I hope we can become friends too!

5:38 am

oh, okay...just when is your 1am? will do my best to wake you up then...*giggle*

5:38 am

Lol :)

5:38 am

spritey, thought it waqs me....some words are quite obscure. may i help you?

5:38 am

let's see... 12 hours and 20 minutes from now, rose :D

5:39 am

still need 58, rose... thanks for the offer though.

5:40 am

2 of the 3 th words are actually very common, but they are not so easy to spot.

5:40 am

it is too vowelly by half

5:42 am

Words with lots of consonants are also very hard to spot.

5:42 am

ambivalence... singing lesson got just cancelled, teacher is ill... which I hate because I really love the lessons... but am ill myself... so it is a bit of a blessing in disguise

5:43 am

I am good with consonants. Well, except the darn K.

5:43 am

A few weeks ago, there was a grid that contained the word 'shhh' :).

5:44 am

Yeah, the k is not an easy one. I love the q :).

5:44 am

brrr, psst, oink :)

5:45 am

and, of course, crwth and cwns

5:45 am

Oh no, too bad your singing lesson got cancelled. Have you got a cold or something? Lots of people are ill in my environment as well.

5:45 am

lol, can tell you both a combination of bourbon and valium(daizepam) is a great analgesiac......and before you both panic, don is here with me.

5:46 am

seems to be a weird flu. My son had it last week. Makes you intensely sleepy. Not much of a fever though.

5:46 am

Lol, yeah, those are very weird words :).

5:46 am

*diazepam*

5:46 am

hehehe rose :) Good girl. Be nice to yourself. Don can carry you to bed.

5:47 am

Wow, diazepam can be very heavy stuff ;). I'm glad Don is with you :).

5:47 am

yeah, spritey. please get well soon, don't like the thought of my spritey not well. :(

5:48 am

jommie, only 2mgs....not too heavy

5:48 am

you are so sweet :) Thanks, and don't worry, this is minor. Couple of days and I'll be good as new.

5:48 am

That sounds like a weird flu indeed. I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrom a few months ago, so I know what it's like to feel tired all the time. I hope you will recover soon!

5:48 am

I will, thanks

5:50 am

ah ha!!! jommie, look up the symptoms of fibromyalgia. then go and see an endocrinologist to have it confirmed. i had a terrible shock when i was diagnosed. but also very relieved.

5:50 am

Rose, 2 mgs is ok I guess :).

5:51 am

Thanks Rose, I will!

5:51 am

They diagnosed me so quickly! They did a few blood tests and my internist said that my blood patterns were normal and that it had to be chronic fatigue syndrom. Very weird...

5:52 am

When were you diagnosed with fibromyalgia?

5:52 am

once you have it confirmed, email me. i have found a marvellous preparation from USA which has changed my life, mostly.

5:53 am

Oh, that's so nice of you, thanks! I will email you as soon as I have it confirmed.

5:53 am

i was diagnosed, formally 5 yeears ago...until then my doctor thought i was a manic depressive.

5:54 am

My vitamin B12 levels were also a bit low, but not low enough, according to the medical standards.

5:54 am

Hi Rose, Jommie and Sprite - and anyone else :)

5:54 am

yeah, and so will your vitD levels be low.

5:54 am

rose, were you the one who told me about a high amount of blood iron?

5:54 am

Wow, that sounds very frustrating! My doctors told me over and over again that my fatigue was mental and not fysical.

5:54 am

{{{liz}}}

5:54 am

hiya Liz :)

5:56 am

Yep, my vit d levels were very low. I started taking supplements a few months ago and my levels have risen to just above 60, which is high enough according to Dutch standards, but not according to international standards.

5:56 am

jommie, i am so with you. it's so difficult...until you find a physician who understands what you are experiencing. i really encourage you to find an endocrinologist.

5:56 am

(before I took the supplements, my vit d level was 29)

5:56 am

yes, sptitey

5:57 am

oh, dear. *spritey*

5:57 am

rose, how was it called again? I forgot and cannot find it. (had it bookmarked but lost it in the crash)

5:58 am

I'm so glad that you understand, Rose. It is so frustrating when people don't believe you. I even got into therapy and I kept saying that I was so tired, but they said: just hang on, things will get better, you just have to 'kick yourself in the butt'. Well, that didn't work at all, but I guess I don't have to tell you that ;).

5:58 am

gaisbok syndrome....a familial form of polycythemia

5:58 am

Hi Liz!

5:58 am

thanks :)

5:59 am

jommie, my email is in my profile...talk to me.

5:59 am

Hi - seeing you talking like this - hope you're all OK!

6:00 am

Thanks Rose, I will send you an email :).

6:00 am

Thanks Liz :).

6:00 am

ahhh, liz.....we will survive....you know that. LOL

6:00 am

Glad to hear it :)

6:01 am

no worries, Liz :)

6:01 am

jommie, because of the time difference, it may be not immediately. but i will answer. :)

6:02 am

Rose, when do your clocks change?

6:02 am

liz, usually the last weekend of march....

6:03 am

those sm words are odd

6:03 am

OK - helpful to know, cos ours don't!

6:03 am

Don't have any sm words yet!

6:03 am

Thanks Rose. And don't worry about answering immediately ;).

6:03 am

Missing 2 x z as well! Amongst many others!

6:03 am

you will, Liz. And you will agree... especially the last one ;)

6:04 am

Do you need any hints on the sm-words?

6:04 am

Lied! Have an sm word now! Just took a stab in the dark and found one!

6:04 am

I found them. It was was a lucky shot :).

6:04 am

No thanks, I'm fine for the moment! Still have 61 words to find!

6:05 am

fireflies. Tsk. Tricky little grid today.

6:05 am

Have 2nd one now = also guessed but would normally have ended that word with a y!

6:05 am

Congrats sprite :)

6:06 am

Good job, Sprite!

6:06 am

How many sm words are there?

6:06 am

WTG SPRITE!!!!

6:06 am

there are 2 sm words

6:07 am

ty - so you promoted me to find both!!!

6:07 am

prompted!

6:07 am

You're welcome ;).

6:08 am

I'm so glad to have Lickety as a backup :).

6:08 am

guess I better go back to bed. Sleep some more :)

6:08 am

And a good dictionary for those last, difficult words ;).

6:08 am

darn!!! lured into a false sense of security. just got up to get a drink....yelped rather loudly...

6:08 am

Sleep well sprite - feel better :)

6:09 am

Just opened lickety - adding new words but not really using the list just yet!

6:09 am

night, my friend. sleep well, and awake refreshed

6:09 am

Think I'll use the list very soon though!

6:09 am

Sleep well sprite. Maybe you can lie in the sun (although it is not so warm outside).

6:09 am

How did your presentation go, Rose?

6:10 am

ahhhh, great liz. i even taught the nurse educator a couple of new things. * grin*

6:10 am

Oh no Rose! Maybe Don can get you your drink, so that you don't have to stand up. It is terrible to be in pain :(.

6:11 am

Grin, indeed. Glad it went well - I know you were concerned!

6:11 am

Liz, I try to get 50 % of the words before I use the list, but sometimes I just don't see it anymore :).

6:11 am

Oh Rose! In pain again?!

6:11 am

let's just say i know my onions....

6:12 am

jommie, bed-time looms....

6:12 am

Me too, Jommie - I put off listing as long as possible - but also try for at least 50 % first.

6:12 am

Hope you also feel better in the morning Rose :)

6:13 am

liz, my local doctor thought it wise to cease all my NSAIDS and anti-inflammatories....hips and lower back complaining.

6:14 am

Hmmm! As a nurse, what was your feeling about this? Then next as a patient - though perhaps it should be patient first!

6:14 am

like liz....i try to get thriugh the grid by achieving at least 50% on all tiles

6:15 am

I always think of you as one of the fast finishers, Rose.

6:15 am

Lol, I had to look op 'I know my onions'. I didn't know the saying. But now I know :).

6:16 am

I've 3 more to find to reach 100 - I'd like to do that before I give up for the night!

6:17 am

liz. * love the way you think" as a nurse...doctor's thoughts weere of some concern....i do have a cardiac history, but not of failure....as a nurse...well to be truthful...i was going wtf....pain is pain....and paracetamol doesn't cut it.

6:17 am

I always start off with the grid in a rather chaotic way, finding whatever word I can find. After that, I'm approaching the grid a bit more systematic and after that, I will open lickety's clues. And when all else fails, I will use a dictionary ;).

6:17 am

Get it sorted is my opinion! You don't need to live in pain!

6:18 am

jommie, can you find the 'enable' list. this is what dr god uses

6:18 am

Rose, as a nurse, you have more knowledge about paid and medication than any other patient. That must be so frustrating.

6:19 am

I also use a dictionary in the end but it still feels a bit like cheating to me! I used it a lot in the 506 grid this week and felt unsatisfied at the end even though I finished the grid.

6:19 am

I've never seen an enable list - do you just google it?

6:19 am

yup, i did, liz

6:19 am

Good

6:20 am

I've never seen an enable list either. I use 'morewords.com' as a dictionary. I agree that it feels a bit like cheating, but it helps me finishing the grid :).

6:20 am

then i created a short cut. and when i need it, i just load it up.

6:21 am

Me too Jommie - Jilli introduced me to morewords

6:21 am

jommie, just 'google' it...or whichever search engine you use.

6:22 am

OK - found it and it's now in my downloads! Thanks!

6:23 am

Lol, I found a link to a forum called 'babblers anonymous' ;).

6:23 am

jommie...even so....what my cardiologist recommends is the way i go...

6:24 am

yay, liz...may your babbling be smooth sailing from now on

6:24 am

OK - that's my 100 down - giving up for tonight. 55 for tomorrow - sleep well Rose and enjoy your day Jommie. As ever, nice chatting. Hugs to you both :)

6:25 am

night, liz. you too, hun. see you tomorrow

6:26 am

I used morewords for another word game that I play. It is called 'word bubbles' and the aim is to make as many words as possible in 2 minutes, using the same 3 letters at the beginning of the word. I use morewords to study on the more difficult combinations ;).

6:26 am

Good night liz, and hugs to you too!

6:27 am

good for you, jommie. i really need to say goodnight....see tomorrow, maybe.have a good day.

6:28 am

Good night Rose, and I hope you will have your meds back tomorrow!

6:29 am

*poof*

6:29 am

Hopefully you can catch some sleep.

hello!

6:55 am

Hi hokie carla!

6:58 am

good morning my babble friends:)) my first 2 words are a pair of we 7/44,s;) hope that bodes well for the rest of this nice looking grid;))

6:58 am

Good morning crosshair!

6:58 am

That's a good way to get started :).

6:58 am

howdy jommie

6:58 am

6:59 am

hello hello

6:59 am

nvm just got it ty

7:00 am

morning annie

7:00 am

Hi ives, Hi Annie

7:00 am

Hi Jommie :)

7:00 am

There are some tricky words in this grid :)

7:00 am

morning, crossy

7:01 am

I just started and when I read crossy's post I saw the we8

7:01 am

That gave me one of the we7's

7:01 am

good morning all..

7:01 am

It's always so rewarding to find long words :).

7:03 am

made me tired finding those three we words;)))

7:03 am

It sure is.

7:03 am

Lol, crosshair :).

7:03 am

Thanks! crossy

7:04 am

There is also a 9 letter word in the grid.

I managed to find the 8 all by myself. ;-)

7:04 am

wtg, hokie

7:04 am

yaaa for hokie!

7:05 am

Good job, hokie!

7:05 am

the nine is a os word

7:05 am

does it have to do with a burial box

7:06 am

like in old jewish burials?

7:06 am

It has something to do with bones :).

7:06 am

thought so,now just to figure out the elongated version of it

7:06 am

yes crossy it does

I think oarist should be a word. One who uses oars.

7:07 am

sounds good to me, hokie

7:07 am

ty ivesy.got it

7:08 am

watched a show once on where they though they found the one that contained the bones of jesus and they said that word about a million times and i never forgot it after that

7:08 am

Thank you for the os9

7:08 am

yw

7:10 am

Crosshair: yeah, repeating words several times is a good way to remember them. It also works with commercials, LOL.

I'm not seeing it. Can anyone spare another clue?

7:10 am

Wish I had the ingredients for a mi6

or mi7 for all of us

7:11 am

ty bzz

7:11 am

We can put those in the pb.

7:11 am

and ty hokie

7:11 am

Lol, hokie, I just learned something new. I thought mi7 was only a type of flower :).

the peanut butter? what is pb?

7:12 am

Penalty box

7:13 am

You go to the penalty box when you use a word that is in the grid

7:13 am

mi7 are almost a version of what we used to call shanties where we used to mix beer and gingerale

oh, what was the penalty? we didn't actually use it.

7:14 am

Beer and gingerale? I've mixed beer and lemonade for a shandy.

7:14 am

BZZ was speaking about puttting mi7 in the penalty box. We have the box well stocked with good food and drink. It is a place of wonder.

ah, so we weren't going, just putting those in. ;-)

7:15 am

That's right. Only the offender goes to the box.

7:15 am

And do all those food and drinks have nice ar 6/21? :)

why should the offender get such benefits?

7:16 am

thanks, jommie

7:16 am

You're welcome Annie ;).

7:16 am

Because Babblers are good nice folks

:-)

7:18 am

gm, everyone! clue for the om5?

7:18 am

hi dawg, dont have it, still working on the top

7:18 am

You can also put an s 4 word in the penalty box :).

sorry, don't have it either.

I want to make roam so bad, I just keep trying it.

7:20 am

I haven't got it either.

7:20 am

Om - use the two little words in a similie.

7:20 am

Hokie, maybe we can rearrange the tiles in the grid a little bit, so that you can make 'roam' :)

7:22 am

Jommie, are you new to Babble?

7:22 am

ty, bzzz. found it.

7:23 am

Annie: I have been around for a little while (a month or so), but I don't chat very often.

7:23 am

well then, Welcome to Babbleland, Jommie

7:24 am

Thanks, Annie :).

hmm, I just discovered both spellings of the t4 ruler. not that they were hard, they were just hiding from me.

7:24 am

So have you been a babbler for long, Annie?

7:25 am

Time for me to bzz...pfft!

7:25 am

jommie, for ages

7:25 am

Jommie, you fit right in. welcome

7:27 am

bye bzz, hagd

apparently I have been here since Aug. '06, though it's been off & on.

7:27 am

babble is unique on the net jommie and well worth the 11 bux for a lifetime subscription

7:27 am

And it is a big advantage to have enough time to find all the words. All those 2 minute games can be a bit stressful at times :).

7:27 am

Thanks lbdawger!

7:28 am

yes, babble can be done at your own pace

7:28 am

Wow, I've only been a member since the 28th of january (i just looked it up)

7:28 am

Crosshair, my kitties are asleep at the moment :).

7:29 am

I haven't subscribed just yet, Crosshair, but it will be my birthday in a few months, so it would be a nice present ;).

7:30 am

my kitties MUST have breakfast then they fight for a hour or so then sleep the morning and part of the afternoon away, then it is playtime till bed.in summer 2 of the are harnessed and go for walkies twice a day as well

7:31 am

it is well worth it jommie

7:31 am

hi folks, stats for the first s in the last column, pls

7:31 am

7:32 am

7:32 am

though missing a u imho

7:32 am

ty crossy for the am

7:32 am

more like a maker of wearable sheilding for knights

7:33 am

Lol, our kitties love breakfast as well. We tried to take them for a walk when they were smaller, but they freaked out every time and eventually we gave up. They like to go into the garden every now and then, but when they hear a loud noise, they come running back inside :).

7:33 am

ty, crossy.

7:34 am

our 5 year old male bombay cat loves to scratch at trees when on walkies

7:35 am

Crosshair: do you know the television program 'Must love cats'? A while ago, I saw an episode that featured a kitty that purred as loud as a vacuum cleaner!

7:35 am

we do.wife loves the show

7:35 am

tadone! finito! ty for the clues

7:35 am

yaaa for lbd!!

7:35 am

YAY for dawg !!!!

7:35 am

Lol, when he scratches at trees, it's less likely that he scratches your furniture :).

7:36 am

woot dawg

7:36 am

Good job lbd!

7:37 am

indeed, jommie, though we have a cat "tree" inside as well with pillars wrapped in coarse rope and 3 or 4 platforms.if you do not give then toys they will make themselves toys out of your stuff;)

7:37 am

name that proper noun---one of the Gods

7:37 am

zeuss

7:37 am

ding ding ding!

7:37 am

I also love to watch 'my cat from hell'. And I always hope that it won't give my cats any ideas, lol.

7:37 am

that lightening bolt fella

7:39 am

We also have several cat trees and platforms. And lots of toy mouses to play with. They love it! And we also have a pen with a laser light in it. They love to chase it, lol.

7:39 am

There is also an anachram of Zeus's wife in the grid ;).

7:40 am

phantom "armories"

7:42 am

crossy hates vowel words:((

7:43 am

must be off for a bit. hagd/n, everyone!

7:43 am

tc lbd

7:43 am

hits

7:43 am

bye dawg, have a very good day

7:43 am

7:43 am

Good morning/evening everyone :)

I hate vowel words, too. Can't find that i.

7:43 am

Bye lbd!

7:43 am

Good morning smores!

7:43 am

hi and bye dawg...enjoy your day :)

7:43 am

me too

7:43 am

Your name is in the grid today!

7:43 am

hi smores :)

7:44 am

howdy smores

good morning to you, too, smores

7:44 am

hokie: it starts with iz.

7:44 am

iz4

7:45 am

I saw that Jommie :) But alas, Enable doesn't recognize me :(

TY both

7:45 am

That's too bad, smores. I typed it in to see if it was a word or not :).

7:46 am

You're welcome hokie.

7:46 am

because your name is in the grid today,sm6,you get all day immunity from penalty box offenses:))))

7:46 am

WooHoo :) thanks crossy

7:47 am

That's a nice reward, crossy! :)

7:47 am

once, only once,i had my name in a grid .it was funny however because not only was it in the grd,it was in the same grid with 3 different varriations, cross, crossy and crosshair

I think I've seen Carla once, not sure about Hokie.

7:48 am

lol..cool crossy

7:49 am

Lol, that's very cool, crossy!

7:49 am

I've never seen Jommie in the grid.

7:49 am

rose, erda and peri are in it quite frequently

7:49 am

give it time, jommie.i have been here 5 years to see mine

7:50 am

5 years this june:)))

7:51 am

good morning everyone

7:51 am

Lol, I'll be a bit more patient then :).

7:51 am

nbt/nbs :)

7:51 am

good morning, mom!

7:51 am

ok,off to reset the eyes and see how many people i can irritate in fb.biab

7:52 am

Hi ((Mom)) How is your hubby?

7:52 am

((mom))..poink!

7:52 am

Hi Mom :)

7:52 am

it will be 8 years for me come August.

7:52 am

Bye for now crossy :)

7:52 am

Jommie, good morning

7:52 am

bye Crossy

7:52 am

I went to My Account, do not see when I started

7:52 am

((Annie)) he is doing pretty good this morning. This afternoon we go and he gets his stitches out

7:53 am

you have to click on your icon in the chat, Annie

7:53 am

Mom, That should be a relief for him

7:53 am

thanks, Mom, will go look

7:53 am

Wow, 8 years is also a very long time. When was babble created?

7:53 am

April 8th 2006 for you, Annie.

7:53 am

Mom, did your hubby have some kind of surgery?

7:54 am

wow....long time

7:54 am

I just started last September

7:54 am

28th sorry.

7:55 am

woohoo 6mo. coming up in a couple weeks LOL

7:55 am

7 years, wow...it doesnt seem that long, must be having fun

7:56 am

hi ((Zoozzoom))

well, mine says '05. I think I've seen someone with '04, but maybe not. I thought I got in pretty early, but maybe that was just the Babble Pro.

7:56 am

Hi zooz :)

7:56 am

Jommie, he had back surgery on the 20th of February

7:56 am

You are all babble addicts...i could give this up right now if i wanted :-)

7:56 am

Hi zooz.

7:56 am

I think it was in 04 or late 03 when babble arrived

7:57 am

hi hokie

7:57 am

Hiyas, kiddos!

7:57 am

Zooz, but you don't want to :-)

7:57 am

lol...keep telling yourself that zooz :)

Hi, Mom.

7:57 am

Mom, did his surgery go well?

and Judi

7:57 am

hahaha, zooz

7:57 am

hi Judi

7:57 am

Wow, so babble has been around for almost 10 years.

7:57 am

Hi Judi.

7:58 am

it did Jommie, thanks

7:58 am

30th september 2003 babble started.

zooz, I actually did become so addicted several years ago that I had to just stop cold turkey because it was crazy.

7:58 am

that zooz, is just a wealth of information

7:58 am

I stop playing all the time....

7:58 am

Ah, we can all stop any time we want to. *twitch twitch*

7:58 am

So we can have a party in september and use all the food and drinks from the penalty box ;).

7:58 am

just as soon as I finish the grid :)

7:59 am

Lol smores.

7:59 am

me too Hokie, I was getting obsessed with having to finish them. That was before Lickety

7:59 am

I am a babble addict and i am proud :-)

I was obsessed with maintaining my ranking by finishing every grid every single night.

7:59 am

*stands next to zooz*

7:59 am

*stands next to Annie*

7:59 am

Hello, my name is smores...and I too am a Babble addict

7:59 am

I have to finish them too :). Even the 500+-grid from last sunday :).

8:00 am

Some addictions have 12 step programs. I think we'll just have a 12 year anniversary party.

yeah Mom, I quit just a little after Lickety list. before then, I would print out a list and cross them out, trying to put them in alphabetical order. used to have printouts all over the place.

8:00 am

I did quit on that one Jommie...stopped with 80something left

8:00 am

hear hear

8:00 am

Before licketey, Mom..wow..now that must take some doing.

8:01 am

<----loves lickety

8:01 am

I like the sound of that, Judi!

8:01 am

<-----loves Lickety too

8:02 am

we all would help each other and the conversations just evolved from there to where we were all part of each others lives.

8:02 am

I think I could quit babble but I couldn't quit stopping in to chat with all the wonderful people I have met here.

8:02 am

(((Mom))))

8:02 am

So true, Mom. And we'd all discuss where the next meet-up would take place so we can eat and drink wine.

8:03 am

so true Mom :)

8:03 am

and there were so many trolls back then, it was a lot of fun messing with them

8:03 am

I do often go onto todays archive chat from flip if i need clues i may of missed and use lickety as a last resort.

8:04 am

lol...me too zooz

8:04 am

I remember one day back when a lady got really upset that cu** was in the grid. She said that her daughter plays this game and that is totally unacceptable to have that word in the grid and she swore she would never play again.

8:04 am

Messing with poor little trolls, Mom I'm shocked :)

8:04 am

((Annie))

8:05 am

Fortunately, as intilectuals, we bore trolls.

8:05 am

and she never did. I remember that, Mom

8:05 am

I have a question. And this is an honest to God question, not a judgment call or anything like that, because everyone plays differently. Why is using clues okay but Lickety is a "last resort"?

8:05 am

me? oh not me, Smores. I would never!! :-)

8:06 am

I always figured asking for a clue was more of a last resort. Especially "clues for dummies" such as I frequently require.

8:06 am

:D

8:06 am

Well although a vulgar word..it is still a word none the less...although i am not keen when i see those words either.

8:06 am

Hi Molly, for me it is about trying to find as many by myself as I can. Clues if someone ask I am more than happy to add those to my list of words

8:06 am

To me, a last resort is throwing my computer out the window//// lol

8:06 am

exactly, Zooz

8:06 am

hahaha Annie

8:06 am

Thats good then, Judi as they are the only type of clues i can give..lol

8:07 am

Lol Annie.

8:07 am

Annie! : D

Molly, it isn't for me. I just see how far I can go by myself before hitting the list. Like right now I am stuck on 91, so will hit the list when I get back from an appt. If I see clues in the box, I'll use them, but I almost consider clues more last resort than the list.

8:07 am

Clues are very handy, especially when lickety's clues are not available ;).

8:07 am

Hi Molly, I don't really think of it as a last resort. Morewords and AtoZ are last resort for me.

8:07 am

Jommie, how long have you been a babbler?

8:08 am

Mom: since the 28th of january.

8:08 am

And I would argue that Morewords and A2Z are often no. help. at. all.

8:08 am

welcome!

8:08 am

(I just looked it up :))

8:08 am

Thanks everyone. I see, as I thought, we all have different strategies.

8:09 am

Molly for me a clue is just for one word..if i see the list..i see all the two letter beginnings of the word..when i don't want to see them.

8:09 am

Judi: I find morewords very helpful, but you can get overwhelmed at some times (like with re words).

8:09 am

strategy? I just pluck down and let my fingers do the walking

8:10 am

lol, Mom.,

8:10 am

I always start with chat off so I don't see any clues. Then come on chat and visit and try to find as many as I can before looking at list.

8:10 am

I admire those with a strategy

8:10 am

and here I am in the grid (if there were more than one of me)

8:10 am

(thankfully that isn't so) lol

8:11 am

:D

8:11 am

I do the same, Mom. I just sit down and start bashing away. When I'm feeling smug, I then look down and see how many words are in the grid. And then my ego is crushed into smithereens.

8:11 am

Sometimes one word can lead to several others, e.g. when -ing and -ic are in the grid.

8:12 am

when I use to play in the evening I loved to read the stories Minveryork would create

8:12 am

LOL...judi

8:12 am

moms

8:12 am

great clue, Annie :D

8:12 am

okay, off I go -------->

8:12 am

She still does that...as far as i am aware.

8:12 am

Yes, I also enjoy Min's stories.

8:13 am

now that it is just me and sweetie I babble in the mornings

8:13 am

"Places some banana muffins in PB for Annie"

8:14 am

Good day to all.

8:14 am

I will add cinnamon rolls and juice to Smores muffins

8:14 am

8:14 am

8:14 am

Hello, Scrabbler.

8:15 am

you all notice Scrabbler didn't appear until there was food in the PB

8:15 am

Hi Scrabbler

8:15 am

I will take some stroopwafels with me for the penalty box (they are a Dutch delicacy ;)).

8:15 am

LOL

8:15 am

lol..yep, that's what I'm having right now Annie :)

8:15 am

Do you live in the Netherlands, Jommie?

8:15 am

What a beautiful sunny mild day it is here today.

8:15 am

Lol mom :)

8:15 am

Jommie, where do you live?

8:15 am

Mom, I live in the Netherlands.

8:16 am

ah! Sprite is from there as well

8:16 am

(and Scrabbler)

8:16 am

I know mom, I talked to her this morning :).

8:16 am

We even exchanged some Dutch words, lol :).

8:17 am

it is neat when you meet someone from your neck of the woods

8:17 am

I just watched this video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e\nE_IUPInEuc&list=SPqs5ohhass_QZtSkX06Dm\nWOaEaadwmw_D&index=4

8:17 am

I tried to learn Dutch..gave that up quickly.

alright, I'm off to get out of my pajamas and head to physical therapy. BBL to finish, I'm sure.

8:17 am

uh oh, the chat is too wide again

scrabbler messed up the chatterbox!

8:18 am

Bye for now hokie...enjoy your day :)

8:18 am

Too wide?

8:18 am

Uh, oh. It didn't change for me. I should have used a tinyurl, I guess.

8:18 am

I admit that Dutch is not so easy to learn. And most of us speak English anyway, so when you go to the Netherlands for a holiday, you don't have to learn it :).

8:19 am

yes, the words go off the grid. I think you have to use a tiny url.

8:19 am

Oh well, we chat enough it won't take long to get back to normal :)

8:19 am

I was lazy and now feel bad.

8:19 am

Name that proper noun: Greek God.

8:19 am

*pats scrabbs* there, there

8:19 am

np scrabbler, we've all done it

8:19 am

This grid is overloaded with vowels.

8:20 am

zeus

8:20 am

True, Jommie..but i wanted to, and i found it too hard..lol

8:20 am

Ding! Ding! Ding! Winner!

8:20 am

I was looking for Thor in the grid.

8:20 am

bye bye Smores

8:21 am

Lol Zoozzoom :).

8:21 am

He was a Norse God, Scrabbs.

8:21 am

Bye Mom :)

8:21 am

Wheres , Smores going.

8:21 am

Zoozzoom: was there a special reason that you wanted to learn Dutch?

8:21 am

Roman, Greek, Norse, Bulgarian..I can't keep all of the Gods straight.

8:22 am

oops, it was Hokie who was leaving. Bye Hokie

8:22 am

lol..I thought Mom was leaving

8:22 am

I don't know how the Pagans do it.

8:22 am

I do need to scoot but .....

8:22 am

Being a pagan is easy.

8:22 am

hehe

8:22 am

when i was younger i fancied this dutch girl in my area..and i wanted to impress her.

8:22 am

okay I am going. ((Hugs)) to all of you.

8:23 am

Bye Mom

8:23 am

bye Scrabble

8:23 am

bye ((Mom)) take care

8:23 am

Bye for real this time Mom...enjoy your day :)

8:23 am

*Scrabbler

8:23 am

((Annie)) bye for now

8:23 am

Did you succeed in impressing her, Zoozzoom? :)

8:23 am

lol...zooz

8:23 am

Bye, Mom.

8:23 am

Bye mom!

8:23 am

bye Smores, ((Zooz)) and Jommie

8:24 am

No..she did not like me really..it was me who liked her..oh well..thats the way it goes.

8:24 am

My boyfriend had a Russian colleague and he had to laugh everytime he heard the word 'goeiemorgen' (good morning). It turned out that 'goeie' is a rather vulgar word in Russian. LOL

8:25 am

hehe..i can imagine the cross over of peoples language can be funny.

8:26 am

Yeah, love can be a difficult thing.

8:26 am

BRB

8:26 am

Yeah, words can have an entirily different meaning in another language :).

8:28 am

In Dutch, the word 'bellen' means 'to ring'. But in German, it means 'to bark'. So this can be confusing when you ask a German to use his phone :).

8:28 am

Im leaving for a while, be back soon

8:28 am

Even the same language can have the same effect..American word :Pants are for here UK: Trousers.

8:28 am

Bye smores, bye Annie.

8:28 am

Bye Annie

8:30 am

And pants here are briefs or underwear.

8:33 am

Yeah, I saw an episode of Gordon Ramsey's 'Hell's Kitchen' about a week ago and he helped out two brothers who had a restaurant in New Orleans. Well, you know Gordon Ramsey... He offended one of the guys. And in order to calm his brother down, the other brother said: "No, he didn't offend you, he complimented you! His words have another meaning in Britain". LOL

8:34 am

(ofcourse his words didn't have another meaning, but the guy just wanted to calm his brother down. The funny thing is that his brother believed him :))

8:34 am

Typical of Gordon Ramsey..he can be a bit over the top .

8:35 am

Scrub the 'bit'..he IS over the top..lol

8:35 am

Yeah, you are totally right! *LOL*

8:36 am

In this episode, the cook of the restaurant threw a big tantrum at Gordon. It was hilarious to watch! :)

8:37 am

Still here. I am reading the morning newspaper.

8:37 am

I love it when someone t

8:37 am

t's off on Gordon. When they stop yelling, he says, "Go on."

8:39 am

Sorry my battries died in my controler..just changed them.

8:39 am

Lol, yeah. But sometimes even Gordon doesn't know what to do. There was this episode with two twin brothers that owned a restaurant. And one of them started to cry and scream like a little boy and Gordon was like: "What just happened?"

8:40 am

Is something wrong with the batteries then, zoozzoom?

8:41 am

No..i am using the xbox 360..and to type it uses battery power..the battries i had in then went empty of power..i have put new ones in.

8:41 am

There are so many weird things on the television these days :).

8:42 am

Ah, I understand. I thought that you just put new ones in and that they were empty in no time.

8:42 am

That would have been annoying for you.

8:43 am

No i have also been playing Assasins creed 3..for many hours yesterday..so that depleted most of the battry life..lol

8:44 am

My spelling today is rubbish...trying to type to fast..lol

8:44 am

Lol, it's a good thing that the batteries didn't die during your game then :).

8:45 am

Hello again :)

8:45 am

Oh it's ok, my spelling isn't perfect either :). As long as we understand each other, lol.

8:45 am

It's pretty easy to read typos.

8:45 am

It does not make a big difference to be honest...all it will say is..reconnect your controller....so you just put the recharged battry or new ones in and away you go.

8:46 am

Hello, Smores, Welcome back.

8:46 am

So the game doesn't go on without you? :)

8:46 am

:)

8:46 am

so true Scrabbler :)

8:46 am

No it goes into pause mode.

8:47 am

Scrabbler: i agree. It appears that you can read words that are totally scrambled, as long as the first and the last letter are in the right place.

8:47 am

Welcome back, smores!

8:48 am

Zoozzoom: that's a good thing :). I play ruzzle and when you recieve a phone call, the game also pauses. I guess that hasn't always been the case, lol.

8:48 am

I'm considering an x-box zon as I need a new dvd player, didn't know you could play babble on it too :)

8:48 am

Ok i am going to get a bite to eat..bye for now.

8:49 am

Talk to you later, zoozzoom. Enjoy your meal!

8:49 am

Enjoy zooz..see ya later :)

8:49 am

I am struggling with seeing words in this grid, so it's time for a break. Bye, kids.

8:49 am

Bye scrabbler, talk to you later!

8:50 am

Yes you can go on the internet...play dvds...watch films with netflix etc..play games..amazing bit of kit really..bye..*poof*

8:50 am

I've got only a few words left.

8:50 am

Me too, bye for now Scrabbler

8:50 am

lol...I'm still not 1/2 way yet

8:51 am

Do you need any clues?

8:51 am

nah...I'm okay :)

8:53 am

Okay :). You've still got 15 hours left to finish the grid, so everything will be allright :).

8:53 am

Three more words to go...

8:53 am

lol, yep :)

8:53 am

wtg Jommie :)

8:53 am

Thanks smores :).

8:54 am

hello, and sigh

8:54 am

Hi hursh. Why the big sigh?

8:59 am

oh it is just weird how you can get stressed out by things that aren't even anything to do with you!

8:59 am

i was present for part of a difficult conversation between two other people here at work, just cause i happen to share an office with one of them. after a bit i left, cause i felt so awkward. but i feel for my officemate and it's left me feeling a bit stressed on her behalf.

9:00 am

Sorry...hurshy

9:01 am

it's ok, just one of those things

9:01 am

It's because you are compassionate. Which is wonderful, just try not to stress about it though

9:02 am

yeah

9:02 am

Oh no, sorry to hear that, hurshy! I understand completely. It's a good thing you walked away. It would have been better for them to go to another office, where they could talk in private.

9:03 am

I agree, smores. Being compassionate is a blessing, but it can also be a burden.

9:03 am

Agree Jommie, shouldn't have stuck you in the middle of it hurshy

9:03 am

9:30 am

Thanks, Hurshy - that helped me find it

9:31 am

Yeah, I can imagine! Why can't a girl be a Star Trek fan? We named one of our cats Neelix *lol*.

9:31 am

9:31 am

(our Neelix is a female, though :)).

9:31 am

my dad introduced me to it when i was 7. my first episode was "amok time" so it took me a while to understand that spock was good.

9:51 am

It must be hard to live there when you are colourblind, lol :).

9:51 am

“No book is really worth reading at the age of ten which is not equally – and often far more – worth reading at the age of fifty and beyond.” ― C.S. Lewis

9:51 am

It's hard to live there, period. Try giving that info and people don't believe you

9:51 am

Nice quote, crossy!

9:52 am

lol..I bet bichon...

9:52 am

I can understand, bichon! It makes me wonder whoever came up with the idea for those names...

9:52 am

so true crossy :)

9:52 am

9:54 am

ta da! got the we 8/60 all by myself ! <smug satisfaction oozing from my pores>

9:54 am

here is a terrible thought.if you can manage 2 books a week for the rest of your life, the most you can hope for is around 10,000 books.so be careful of what you re-read!:)

9:55 am

WTG TK :)

9:55 am

yaaa for kate!!

9:55 am

that's a depressing thought crossy

9:55 am

old song... putting on the cracker

9:56 am

it is indeed

9:56 am

<---passes TK a towel :)

9:56 am

Crossy: unless you take a course in speed reading, but that leaves you no time to enjoy the book...

9:57 am

i actually had to untrain myself from speed reading when schooling was done.it made leisure reading very unenjoyable

9:57 am

took years to get rid of it

9:57 am

which brings us to the new eternal debate - e-reader vs. actual hard copy book. i prefer to turn the pages of the real thing, i must be very tactile :0

9:58 am

at one time i was readin entire books in a single afternoon

9:58 am

both have a place in my workd ,kate

9:58 am

it does sound like it would take the fun out of it crosssy

9:58 am

my wife would be unable to read without her e reader

9:58 am

My daughter does that crossy, self-trained speed reader

9:59 am

I prefer actual books too, Kate. Crossy: I can imagine that it is not very enjoyable when you finish a book in no time.

9:59 am

I prefer the actual book, but also like readers...especially for on the go

9:59 am

though i am ok now.i can make a average book last 3-5 days

10:00 am

the ebooks coming out was my wifes saviour.with her vision at 20/400 she had been ten years without being able to read before they came out

10:00 am

When you're at school, speed reading comes in very handy, though. When I think back to all the books I had to read at school...

10:00 am

wow... so glad she can enjoy reading again

10:01 am

Crossy, how very nice that she can read again!

10:01 am

as am i.i bought one of the very first side lit readers for her(the sony prs 700) at the time it cost 450 dollars!!

10:01 am

how terrible for her crossy. glad they came along for her sake and others in her position

10:01 am

now a nook glow can be had for 100:)

10:02 am

Yeah, they are pretty common nowadays. And you don't have to bring all your books with you when you're on a holiday :).

10:02 am

has anyone here ever seen any large print hardcovers of the hogwarts books?

10:03 am

i'll keep my eye out for them crossy

10:04 am

I haven't, but they must be there somewhere.

10:04 am

my beloved adores the series(i was lucky to find ebook versions) but if i can find it in a nice collector set hardcover large print,it would be a nice gift

10:06 am

is granny rose still here?

10:06 am

I just got back from the movies (yay) and saw that she is in terrible pain

10:07 am

((mom, annie, smores, cerossy)

10:08 am

12:25 pm

aaah, I didn't know that

12:25 pm

you can't get the flu from the flu shot - it is 100% killled vaccine - you could however already be infected with it but not symptomatic yet. you could also get a different strain than what is in the shot

12:25 pm

Is she house broken? I don't even know how to house break a femal

12:25 pm

or the shot just doesn't work, as in 91% of the elderly

12:25 pm

The elderly [me] have a lower immune system

12:26 pm

My Doctor told me the same thing nef when I got my flu shot. There is no live virus in the vaccine so it is impossible to get the flu from the shot. It doesn't mean you wont get the flu because it does not cover every type of flu out there.

12:26 pm

we've had 6 chows and they have all been totally housebroken on arrival, even the ones who made the very long trip from Canada didn't mess their cages

12:26 pm

wyrd? why is that immune systems too depressed? theyalways say that the yung and old should specially get the shot

12:26 pm

hello river

12:26 pm

i dont know kate, i don't think the shots are as effective as they let on

12:27 pm

Hello everyone

12:27 pm

my last doctor told me the only shot she would get was polio, and she wasn't so sure about the effectiveness of it

12:27 pm

hi river

12:27 pm

the flu shots made from dead viruses; but they are mainly the upper respiratory flu viruses. The stomach flu is from a different type of virus such as the noro virus (from what I've read). I don't know if they've been able to make a vaccine for that yet.

12:27 pm

remember, vaccines are the corner stone to big pharma money

12:27 pm

I guess Chows and Bichons don't have that in common. Bichons, especially males are very difficult to totally housebreak

12:27 pm

It's true that older people have weaker immune systems, but they still can derive at least partial immunity from the serum. And given that tens of thousands die from flu every year, mainly the elderly, it's important that older people give themselves the best possible chances.

12:27 pm

getting off her soapbox now!

12:28 pm

our Rufus once went 26 hours without goig out because he didn't like the rain

12:28 pm

Mine won't poop if it's raining out. They'll go for a day.

12:29 pm

That's me, the elderly. But, I've never had the flu.

12:30 pm

Wyrd, if it wasn't for vaccines we'd see polio, diphtheria, measles and mumps killing so many people today. I can name about 10 of my grade school classmates who had handicaps from childhood diseases.

12:30 pm

Count yourself lucky. A neighbor down the street from us died of flu two years ago. She was in her early seventies. I still miss her.

12:30 pm

they hide when they poop, never saw Ruby poop in 10 years

12:30 pm

i know plenty of children who have suffered from those vaccines, not sure the cost always pans out

12:31 pm

i prefer a naturally developed immune system.. i won't ever get a flu or shingles shot

12:31 pm

When we first got M&P, they would run down into the basement to do their business. Had to learn to make sure the door was always shut. Now, they're okay

12:31 pm

And the flu vaccines for this year are effective for about 70% of the elderly.

12:31 pm

I've had Shingles and deifinitely never want to get it again. So, got the shot.

12:32 pm

Raffie is pretty Young, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed

12:32 pm

I didn't know you could get shingles twice

12:32 pm

Since I have asthma, my doctor insists that I get a shot

12:33 pm

Speaking of which, time for walkies. BBL

12:33 pm

bye bichon

12:33 pm

It's a never ending debate about flu shots. I know so many people who have gotten the flu after getting the shot. I'm not a big believer in flu shots, so I stay away from them.

12:33 pm

ruby, my younger sister had it twice (the second time in her eye) before she was 60 and her doctor still wouldn't give her the shot til she was 60.

12:34 pm

bye bichon can anyone point me in the right direction for the sa 5/12, sa 6/21 (cjombo?)

12:34 pm

so true molly.. here is an article that says 60% and thats in the regular population

12:34 pm

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/\n27/flu-shot-only-59-percent-effective_\nn_1032916.html

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/\n27/flu-shot-only-59-percent-effective_\nn_1032916.html

12:34 pm

trying to find the one i was reading about the lower percentage among the elderly, haven't yet

12:36 pm

http://current.com/community/94059856_\nshock-cdc-study-flu-vaccine-ineffectiv\ne-in-91-of-seniors.htm

12:36 pm

well there are many actually

12:36 pm

that is terrible about your sister, nef. My father had shingles once and it's the only time anyone ever saw him cry

12:37 pm

but it was before there was a vaccine

12:40 pm

good night everybody

12:40 pm

nite ruby!

12:41 pm

gn ruby, sweet dreams

12:42 pm

hi all, back from my 2nd collage class. the instructor is very good and she is funny as well. I am starting to get the hang of it. there are so many things that can incorporated into a collage.

12:42 pm

hi peri, sounds like you had fun!

12:43 pm

I had a mild case of shingles many years ago. did not know you could get it again. not sure if I want the vaccine tho

12:43 pm

I am very critical of any work I do but the instructor and others students were very supportive and encouraging

12:43 pm

peri you can even get chicken pox repeatedly, even with the vaccine

12:43 pm

i have the kid to prove it

12:44 pm

the shingles can "hide out" for years in your system, then re-emerge.... related to shicken pox

12:45 pm

i had chicken pox when i was 6 months old. the doctors have told me many times i could get it again, as i was too young for my immune system to build up against it.

12:45 pm

i had only a polio vaccine as a child, the only childhood illness i ever had was a mild case of chicken pox

12:45 pm

one of my kids had minimal shots and no diseases, the other one had all the shots and caught everything, a compromised immune system

12:46 pm

as a child I had chicken pox, german measles, and whopping cough

12:46 pm

the whooping cough cases we have in oregon are mostly from immunized children

12:50 pm

imagine how many more cases you'd have if nobody immunized, though.

12:51 pm

3 to go, but they are elusive, i will take 5 to clear my befuddled brain...

12:52 pm

I don't believe that winding

12:52 pm

i think that our medical system is basically run rampant and frankly I don't buy their self made statistics

12:53 pm

its like they make things up then they force them on you.. i just hate it

12:53 pm

I can see you don't. I do though--some immunizations going wrong enough to lead to sickness, versus most kids catching most things. Thank you, but no.

12:54 pm

and you most certainly have the right to decide for yourself

12:55 pm

I do. May I ask that we move on, though? This is frankly a ragemaking subject for me.

12:55 pm

i only get mad about differences of opinion when my government tries to decide for me whats best

12:56 pm

it is a touchy subject. of which there are many

12:58 pm

thank you.

1:04 pm

Thanks for your input Wyrd, it is appreciated.

1:04 pm

aww.. thanks Molly

1:08 pm

can anyone point me in the right direction for the sa 5/12, sa 6/21 (combo?)

1:08 pm

it must use the u or the m, but i don't see it

1:09 pm

the 5/12 i have is like old english, biblical

1:09 pm

so sa*** the lord

sa 5/12 very old fashioned version of "speaks"; sa 6/21 closely related spelling - archaic word for a fish, however! No "u" involved

1:11 pm

i was trying to spell it with an e rather than an i :( thanks for that one wordz!

1:11 pm

and ty for the other one helens

1:11 pm

*wyrd*, sorry

1:11 pm

:) lol

1:13 pm

thank you wyrd and helen, got them. i thought i had monkeyed everything. did try the h but wasn't getting asnywhere with it.... now for my very last word- which i have also hunted in vaain for!

When in doubt, stick an "e" on the end, just in case! Admittedly it doesn't work very often, but when it does, makes me feel very puffed.

1:15 pm

finally monkeyed the last word!!!! fireworks for the first time in ages :)) thank yu all for your excellent clues

At last thought of the card game for my last "wh". Good luck, all!

1:16 pm

i will remember that helen, there are so many little tricks that help with this game

1:16 pm

i know helen, i should have noticed that e

1:17 pm

Sorry, Had to go out and move my car (after uncovering it from the foot of snow; then; once I got in, the dog had to go out and I had to shovel a path for him.

1:18 pm

poor nef, now she has no energy for babbling...

1:18 pm

Are you kidding? Nef is the Energizer Bunny.

1:20 pm

my apologies, no insult was intended lol

1:21 pm

I'm tired! Just now catching my breath!

1:22 pm

<passes nef a cuppa of whatever turns her crank>

1:22 pm

And while I was outside; I just found DH in the garage messing with power tools!

1:23 pm

thanks for the tea, TK.

1:23 pm

first he's trying to shovel, now he wants to build things? goodness!

1:24 pm

I have no idea what he's thinking! He doesn't TOUCH my circular saw!

1:24 pm

crumpets dripping with melted butter and homemade strawberry preserves....would you like some clotted cream as well? (canyou tell i'm hungry?)

1:25 pm

(He's not safe with power tools anymore; we gave away "HIS" power tools, all we have left are "My" powere drill, and small circular saw.

1:25 pm

hehehe keep your manly paws off my tools...

1:26 pm

what's he up to? just bored?

1:27 pm

Yeah. Back when he had his tools he used to joke about my smaller set of tools. My circular saw has a 6 or 7 inch blad; so it looked puny next to his.

1:28 pm

We redid the kitchen and he thinks he can put in an extra shelf on the one lower cabinet.

1:29 pm

Nef, he is like a little kid, you always have to see what he's up to.

1:29 pm

TK, I just re-read your post about the clotted cream and crumpets. I have no idea what they are; but it's time for lunch here too! So they sound good! :-)

1:29 pm

good heavens! man out of control!!! stop him before he hurts the new kitchen!!!!

1:29 pm

you don't know what a crumpet is?

1:30 pm

I know, Molly. I try to keep a tight rein on him most of the time. But who knew he was just waiting for me to go out and shovel a path for the dog?

1:30 pm

I don't know what a crumpet is. :-(

1:32 pm

http://tinyurl.com/bc94u7u

1:33 pm

so they are similar to what we call English Muffins?

1:34 pm

http://tinyurl.com/avt5fol

1:35 pm

Oh My! And you expect me to Babble while drooling all over the keyboard? ;-)

1:36 pm

not at all like an english muffin texture is totally different. i must go run an errand, a friend has come to give me a ride. i will return...and technically clotted cream goes with scones - for the purists out there. be back in a bit!

1:36 pm

*poof*

1:36 pm

BYE, Kate!

1:39 pm

My soup is hot, BBS

1:44 pm

Scones are nothing like English muffins, and clotted cream is nothing like cream cheese.

1:45 pm

Oh, and beg your pardon, crumpets are nothing like English muffins either.

1:46 pm

back. I guess I haven't ever tried much English food; so I really don't know, Molly.

1:49 pm

what are crumpets like Molly?

1:49 pm

I've never had english food either

1:52 pm

Oh, maybe a cross between a pancake and an English muffin. They aren't crispy like English muffins, more spongy.

1:53 pm

hmmm.. interesting, and ty

1:53 pm

I've just read back in the archives; and if Wryd is still on; I'd like to say that my son and daughter-in-law are WAY off in left field about their son (my precious almost 4 year old grandson). My DIL doesn't believe in most of the run of the mill normal medicines; but when Ronnie was 9 months old he got very ill and they ended up in the ER with IV's and antibiotics, etc. and the whole topic of vaccines is a touchy subject for us. I apologize if I got too forceful; and I did read your 1 article but not the 2nd one (that's when I had to go move my car). I was trying to find a more current atricle for you when I got called away.

1:54 pm

My experiences with my children have been just the opposite Nef, we all speak from what we think we know, nothing wrong with being passionate and sharing information

1:54 pm

really, Molly? I'll have to go find someplace that serves them then. There is a place that does and English high tea; would they be served there? (I'd never get DH to go, however.)

1:55 pm

One of my children had seizures as a reaction to the DPT shots, the medications they forced on him turned him into a drooling zombie

1:56 pm

instead of checking him out to see if he was suffering a reaction, they continued another one later and induced seizures again, plus many auto immune troubles

1:56 pm

Crumpets are like bland sponge like chewy bread

1:56 pm

but you put butter or sweet syrups on them, they're great

1:56 pm

i was young and they threatened to take my child if i did not continue on the course they prescribed, later several other doctors confirmed that it was the vaccines

1:56 pm

some of the US grocery stores carry them in frozen or fresh bread section

1:57 pm

so since then its been a big issue for me, i have several friends who are doctors as well, I am not without information on this subject

1:58 pm

interesting, wryd. I'm allergic to a number of odd things; it makes me mad that the doc wouldn't listen to you.

1:58 pm

we have basically put our own vaccine schedule together for our little one

1:59 pm

well doctors are taught a certain way, for them to err is to possibly lose their license

1:59 pm

And thanks for that information, mooling. I'll have to look when we go shopping.

1:59 pm

seemed like the vaccine schedule was partly concocted for convenience, so didn't hurt us to go in more often

1:59 pm

its for money

1:59 pm

we dumped our midwife a couple of days before delivery...that was harrowing

2:00 pm

look into who performs these trials, who regulates the vaccines, and how much money is involved

2:01 pm

Mooling, my son and DIL and I have chosen to use the Danish vaccine schedule. Here, the US vaccine schedule now says something like 32-36 doses of vaccines before the age of 3. The Danish system spreads them out over 5 years so the child is vaccinated before they enter Kindergarten

2:01 pm

familiar with it

2:01 pm

we did a lot of reviewing ourselves

2:01 pm

here is one hard core conspiracy site, yet it has some good info

2:01 pm

http://polioforever.wordpress.com/

2:03 pm

someday they will invent a vaccine for being a smart alec and the government will force me to take it :(

2:04 pm

And the world will be a far less interesting place.

2:04 pm

hehehe

2:05 pm

I feel the whole autism caused by vaccines crowd really set back reasonable discussion on vaccines

2:05 pm

i welcome them mooling

2:06 pm

ams

2:07 pm

with that said, there are a lot of arrogant scientists and doctors

2:07 pm

it's okay to be confident, but you need to remain humble

2:07 pm

why? lol

2:08 pm

i think we need to be open to whats possibly the truth

2:08 pm

that's my point

2:08 pm

personally i think autism is the result of many forms of poisoning, vaccines are one possibility

2:08 pm

Wyrd, I'll agree to disagree with you on this topic. I have learned (from dealing with my DIL) that I need to read ALL sides of an argument because she uses some bizarre sources to support her ideas. I look at information based on research and evidence-based outcomes.

2:08 pm

but we need to be pragmatic rather than emotional about it

2:09 pm

the whole idea of scientific method is that anything can be challenged, but you have to come up with a way to challenge it

2:09 pm

simply saying "I believe" this, or "it could be this" doesn't further understanding unless you can test it

2:09 pm

otherwise it comes down to an unprovable faith discussion

2:09 pm

I agree with you on both the autism/vaccine crowd and the arrogant docs, mooling

2:10 pm

me too Nef, but i also question who is doing the research

2:11 pm

Well chances are the research on vaccines is published somewhere

2:11 pm

I think that evidence-based outcomes is becoming more common and that is helping with the research. If someone says that they conducted research in this area and got these results, then others should also get the same results.

2:12 pm

Or perhaps you can request it of the FDA

2:12 pm

well sure, but many times, its research done by the very company who will profit from the solution to the problem, and they aren't very well regulated

2:12 pm

kind of like.. a monsanto employee hired by the government to regulate.. gmo foods

2:12 pm

Then find the gaps in regulation and petition your government

2:13 pm

not alot of trust there ya know?

2:13 pm

or go to universities with your thesis and have them investigate it

2:13 pm

well its been 100 years since the invention of modern medicine, that hasn't worked so far

2:14 pm

Wryd, I understand your point. My daughter is against most vaccines, and is not getting them for her boys. The 1st grader just has an exemption in his file, so he's fine to attend class without them.

2:14 pm

the problem for me is they invent a problem, come up with a solution, and force it upon us

2:14 pm

I disagree Wyrd

2:14 pm

there's a lot of examples where medicine has helped

2:14 pm

the guy who said that vaccines cause autism was really a strange "researcher" who wasn't supposed to touch the children. He preformed all sorts of (what I call) medical terrorism on subjects he hand picked who already had some symptoms of autism.

2:14 pm

susan, they are trying to pass laws to stop people from exempting their children from vaccines for any reason

2:15 pm

There are risks on both sides of the equation

2:15 pm

What you need to prove to legislators is that one risk is greater than the otehr

2:15 pm

switch the subject from vaccines, replace it with mental illness... same sh** .. different day

2:15 pm

there are indeed.

2:16 pm

If vaccine exemptions aren't allowed in the future, for kids in class, I know my daughter will home school. She will not give in.

2:16 pm

Wyrd, my DIL is bipolar and just spent the better part of the last 2 weeks in the psych hospital for that. Let's not even go there please.

2:17 pm

My wife and I made an educated decision based on the information we had before us...that's the best any of us can do who are not intimately involved with every step of these things

2:17 pm

you are your best advocate mooling

2:17 pm

We're considering home schooling for other reasons than vaccines...primarily concern over quality of education available. It's a sad state of affairs...

2:18 pm

im with you on that

2:18 pm

seems like schools take a very oppositional stance to parents these days

2:18 pm

I'm an RN, mooling. And that is the best anyone can do. You take the information; examine it and then decide.

2:19 pm

There's an interesting article that you might find interesting: http://blog.ted.com/2013/02/26/a-schoo\nl-in-the-cloud-sugata-mitra-accepts-th\ne-ted-prize-at-ted2013/ A school in the cloud: Sugata Mitra accepted the TED Prize at TED2013

2:19 pm

And Wyrd, you've decided to do what you've done based on your experiences too. I don't fault you for that.

I work in the education system and I completely agree that the state of our educational systems is poor, poor, poor.

2:19 pm

Well my wife is a math teacher, and so we have that angle as well

2:20 pm

thank you Nef

2:20 pm

School is being driven by too many metrics, and our way of learning isn't consistent between individuals nor is it easily quantifiable

2:21 pm

i don't want school deciding how to raise my children, that's my job

2:21 pm

politicians, who in many cases are not well informed are driving education policy which is then shaped by academics who aren't really held accountable for their viewpoints

2:22 pm

mooling, the site won't open, can you use tiny url.com to make it open (for some reason, babble adds extra letters and symbols to long urls these days)

our state has pushed the schools into focusing stricting on reading and math; our students get writing, social studies and science IF a teacher wants to squeeze it in the 30 left over minutes of the pre-scheduled subjects

2:22 pm

sure

2:22 pm

they tried to back door home schooling in oregon.. making kids do it on the computer, and they end up watching the same drivel for 8 hours on a computer

2:22 pm

http://tinyurl.com/a9ad584

2:22 pm

Nef, i googled the headline and got the right link

If my children were in school now, I would seriously consider home schooling.

2:23 pm

its an interesting article

2:23 pm

Definitely a de-emphasis on the arts, crafts and physical side mcurl

2:24 pm

It's a philosophy that I've been gravitating towards, an interesting sound bite of a broader thinking

2:25 pm

it just seems to me that government institutions .. committees.. whatever, were created for a function, that they no longer deliver, but instead of have turned into another long arm of the law

2:25 pm

big money making scam

2:26 pm

Well...I somewhat disagree

2:26 pm

If you read history, I think you'll find that government has been influenced by money for all time

2:26 pm

well right, you kind of make my point there

2:27 pm

in many ways you could argue that we're becoming less influenced over time as more of these scandals are unearthed, and checks and balances are put in place

2:27 pm

i guess i don't see that this has happened

2:27 pm

If you've got the patience, there's a book written by an English historian, called A History of the American people

2:27 pm

i love to read, ty

2:27 pm

that's because you have a small window you're looking at

2:27 pm

if you look at it over a longer period of time you can see improvements

2:28 pm

it's just not a linear progression

2:28 pm

same for medicine

2:28 pm

i don't believe i do have a small window, i just think they play a magic game with us and pretend to fix problems

2:28 pm

Well there is certainly some of that going on right now

2:29 pm

i believe who ever has the money makes the rules

2:29 pm

There was a mayor in Philadelphia who actually seemed to manufacture his own crises and then solve them

2:29 pm

and we should always be suspicious of those in power, its what will keep them humble

2:30 pm

Well there's plenty of government examples where it's not money so much as the "system" that keeps some in power

2:30 pm

I agree Moolimg

2:30 pm

I don't disagree with you on that point Wyrd

2:30 pm

I'm not sure i see the difference

2:30 pm

i pretty much agree with everything you say as well mooling

2:30 pm

Well for instance take a monarchy

2:31 pm

like Saudi Arabia

2:31 pm

or Jordan

2:31 pm

they are born into their position...others use religion to manipulate, like Iran

2:32 pm

yes, but they are also not only influenced, but also hold their position due to a bigger, richer country who can back them up or take them out

2:32 pm

The ultimate commonality I think you can say, the ones in power get to make the rules

2:32 pm

right

2:33 pm

one of my fav books that i have read in the last few years was "Confessions of an Economic Hitman"

2:33 pm

Gerrymandering is a great example in many democratic countries

2:33 pm

and yet, most Iranians aren't that religious (at least according to my dear friend who is Iranian). When you are forced to study Islam or be beaten and possibly killed; you study Islam.

2:33 pm

but the US also has the way Federeal Judges get appointed

2:33 pm

thats exactly right Nef

2:34 pm

I would tend to agree to an extent...Religion is the subtext that got them in power though...organizing against the Shah, who was none too popular

2:34 pm

Iran in some ways is like Venezeula...they pander to the poor to keep the middle class and wealthy under their control

2:35 pm

well mooling, I have a friend who's father worked for the shah, they said things got much worse after he was gone

2:35 pm

in Iran it's more religiously motivated, in Venezeula they use almost a communist line of the "rich foreigners and their lackeys"

2:35 pm

the new regime made it a crime to even sing happy birthday for instance

2:35 pm

I think it's all a matter of perspective Wyrd

2:36 pm

You could argue the same in Iraq after the US overthrew Hussein

2:36 pm

well it might be a matter of media as well

2:36 pm

he was put inpower by the US. They wanted him out, and Iatollah Kolmani (sp?) was the person to put in bythe people. But pwoer corrupts; and absolute power absolutely corrupts.

2:36 pm

hard to find the real truth sometimes

2:36 pm

There's a trade off

2:36 pm

and mooling, since we were once buddies with Hussein, its not an invalid arguement

2:36 pm

A totalitarian regime provides stability, but limits personal freedoms

2:37 pm

right

2:37 pm

democracy in many ways is chaotic, especially if you don't have the institutions and the respect for law

2:37 pm

it's a hard transition that takes many decades in most instances

2:38 pm

i don't see our so called democracy working so well.. i wonder about mob rule too

2:38 pm

The US has had plenty of challenges, and had to basically set up from scratch

2:38 pm

i guess im more of a very small government type of person

2:39 pm

I feel like too small of government is chaotic; too large of a government is dangerous.

2:40 pm

We have a lot of checks and balances in our system; but I think that big money is making some changes in the system

2:41 pm

and they are changes no one can predict yet.

2:41 pm

well i agree on the dangerous part

2:41 pm

and i think in the US that is what we are dealing with right now

2:42 pm

probably the world but that's my judgement from what i hear, I see mostly what goes on in my neck of the woods

2:43 pm

I don't. I think that the media is manipulating a lot of people who don't get their information anywhere except from the media and they believe what the talking heads on TV say. I don't; I go back and read the law; I talk to my representatives (that's what they are there for: to represent us!) etc.

2:45 pm

well that's very true for me as well

2:45 pm

When you look at our media; it's very divisive right now: you have CNN for the very liberal and FOX for the conservatives. It drives me crazy when people believe everything that is said on those channels

2:45 pm

I hate to be a party pooper but, Could I have clues for the O's, I am drawing a very big blank.

4:09 pm

Ah, Pepco is making their pre-recorded "sorry if your power goes out" rounds.

4:10 pm

yes they called me about an hour ago. . .

4:10 pm

you'd think they would start out where the storm is going to hit first and work their way in . . . .

4:11 pm

but if they were smart they wouldn't need to make these stupid calls. . .

4:11 pm

I agree. And I hate it when the forecast is for heavy, wet snow because it doubles your chances for losing power.

4:12 pm

Yipes, certainly hope you both will NOT lose power!!

4:13 pm

probably not

4:13 pm

but heavy wet snow does increase the likelyhood

4:13 pm

Hello everyone

4:14 pm

but i figure with all the storms in the last few years there aren't as many dangling limbs...they already broke

4:14 pm

Hello seaspray!

4:14 pm

hi sea

4:15 pm

BGE making their calls as well

4:15 pm

brb

4:15 pm

Seems like a waste of time to me...common sense

4:15 pm

4:16 pm

4:16 pm

lol you are sooo right jmc

4:17 pm

4:18 pm

4:18 pm

The grocery stores must be packed. I'm so glad I'm all done with that.

4:19 pm

Aw Sea, what a cute picture.

4:20 pm

sitz is too a word....

4:20 pm

When I was at the grocery store yesterday, I heard this woman say to her son "Get the big cart, not the little one. We're snow shopping." What a laugh.

4:20 pm

Thank you Molly...the little one turned a year old in February..my daughter is so proud and such a good Mom

4:21 pm

haha she will get snow for free tomorrow!

4:21 pm

She must have had a good example for a mother seaspray!

4:22 pm

Sitz is German.

4:22 pm

and there are never foreign words in the grid. . . .

4:22 pm

Only the ones the nit pickety Enablers like.

4:22 pm

I tried my best Jilly...my son in law says she does everything like I do..I wasn't sure how to take that lol

4:23 pm

Well, there are certainly a lot of foreign words that appear in grids... ;)

4:23 pm

i would take as the compliment it is!

4:24 pm

My favorite is that Enable will take merde (French for shit) but not merci (French for thank you)

4:24 pm

That is a good one molly!

4:24 pm

it takes english shit doesn

4:24 pm

oops...doesn't it

4:25 pm

4:25 pm

so I guess french is ok

4:28 pm

Okay, just ran across mo5/12...spanish for hill...

4:28 pm

and anything fairly vulgar. . .

4:28 pm

It takes English shit

4:28 pm

Like female and male anatomical terms...

4:28 pm

I like "fecal et als" : D

4:29 pm

5:06 pm

Hi again

5:30 pm

Hi everyone

5:31 pm

Crud...missed jmc?

6:03 pm

hi Champ (if you're still here)

6:04 pm

Ni Nef! wandering around, but still here too...

6:06 pm

Just got back from a bunch of running around with DH: his P.T. appt., put gas in car, stopped at bank and grocery store. Now trying to figure out what to do for supper.

6:07 pm

When I'm late, it's easy to do breakfast for dinner. Hubs likes that!

6:07 pm

Any ideas? (I really am not in much of a cooking mood; I should go "forage" in the freezer and see what looks good.)

6:07 pm

Cheerios? ;-)

6:08 pm

Heck yeah! With a nice merlot! (ugh....that sounds ick!)

6:09 pm

Egg dishes, pancakes...always good for dinner! Hello nef and champfit!

6:09 pm

It does sound bad! I have some stella pasta I was going to fix, a nice seafood salad and a fresh fruit salad for dessert. It's the "something warm" part of the meal I'm missing

6:10 pm

Hmmmmm...sounds yum! Is it cold there?

6:10 pm

Hi Jilly.

6:10 pm

Good hearty vegie omlet?

6:11 pm

I love eggs for dinner. Hi Jilly!

6:11 pm

Yeah; it's not unbearable; but with a foot of fresh snow it's always nice to have something warm in the tummy for supper.

6:12 pm

I'm going to Boston to visit my sis-in-law next week, and looking forward to seeing "real" winter.

6:12 pm

an omelet is quick and easy; that might do.

6:13 pm

Yum!

6:14 pm

down to 59 and feeling like there are no more to find. gahhhhhhhhhh!

6:14 pm

We have over 2 feet of snow on the ground right now. I had to go out and shovel paths for the dog today. We had a guy come and clear the ice dams forming in front of the roof (the house faces north) and then the plowman came and cleared the driveway. Snow is nice; but by March these big storms get tiresome.

6:15 pm

grinding thru the s's is not fun...

6:15 pm

I live in Houston. You are speaking Chinese to me. :)

6:16 pm

We seem to be running out of winter here nef...saw my first robin this afternoon

6:16 pm

Yesterday I said I liked grids with R's and T's in them (there weren't any in that one. Now I should complain about all of the hidden words! ;-)

6:17 pm

We have the light yellow dust of pollen on everything already from the pine trees. There's a yellow line around the waterline of my pool. And on the cars.

6:18 pm

I've got 3 bird feeders in my yard and a suet holder. They are all empty because I can't open the shed door where we store the bird seed. SO this AM a cardinal came and tapped at the window where I was sitting in the Lazy Boy. I think he wanted me to come out and feed him!

6:19 pm

Jilly, I never thought MSLA had nearly as much winter as we have here in MN.

6:19 pm

Spoiled! That's awesome.

6:20 pm

pollen? From pine trees? Our pine trees don't have pollen.....

6:20 pm

Well, used to last a lot longer 30 years ago, plus the problem of lengthy cold spring-summer

6:21 pm

now that part is true, Jilly. I'm not as fond of your cool evenings as my family seems to be.

6:21 pm

Yep. It's just a yellow dust. It literally flies through the air in the wind. Allergic people have a very hard time of it.

6:22 pm

(in the summer time, I mean) And your nights happen faster than ours here (because of the mountains, I guess.

6:22 pm

what type of pine trees are they, Champ? Jilly, do you have pollen from pine trees there?

6:23 pm

We do, but much later for pollen

6:23 pm

I have no clue. So thankful I don't have any, but those around me do.

6:25 pm

It's all a lie...there are no more words...I'm convinced!

6:25 pm

The serial crazy gluer has been caught! The town can sleep again.

6:25 pm

RATS! "maybe we have pollen too, then but there is so much pollen from everything else i didnt know it was fromthe pine trees " was not found in the dictionary I was chatting in the Word box again.

6:25 pm

Hmmm, inform us cos...haven't heard of him

6:26 pm

Ha! What on earth, cos?

6:26 pm

What, cos??? A serial crazy gluer?

6:26 pm

LOL nef...you would know as it's a thick nasty yellow substance...here it is the lodgpole pine

6:26 pm

there was a guy crazy glueing business locks downtown

6:27 pm

Nail polish remover will fix that, btw. Speaking of the glue.

6:27 pm

the county democratic HQ was vandalized 4 times in a week.

6:27 pm

with the glue lol

6:28 pm

What is wrong with people?

6:28 pm

Did the moron glue himself to the lock?

6:28 pm

lol no. survillance cameras.

6:28 pm

Hi again :)

6:29 pm

Hello smores...

6:31 pm

lol...where there other places besides the democratic HG?

6:32 pm

the library, a couple of falafel places, the independent living center

6:33 pm

Ah..sounds random then

6:33 pm

Thought it was a rogue Republican...lol

6:34 pm

That's almost like kids. Was it spring break there or something?

6:34 pm

He was. These aren't your typical Repub places

6:34 pm

No. It was an man in his 50's. Crazy look in his eyes. Unclean beard.

6:34 pm

Police suspect meth.

6:35 pm

It's a wonder he didn't glue himself!

6:35 pm

That happened many years ago at my church.

6:35 pm

What benefit would he gain by doing that though?

6:36 pm

We'll never know :/

6:36 pm

so he hasn't gone into some wild rant about why he did it?

6:37 pm

Or why he picked those places?

6:39 pm

Off to pick up a kid. Have fun all!

6:41 pm

Bye Champ...enjoy your evening :)

6:41 pm

see you later champ

6:42 pm

I need to go cook my pasta, Be back shortly (really curious about the super gluer criminal)

6:50 pm

6:50 pm

6:51 pm

Great lady to be around. She would take time out to write notes back and forth with me and I was only 15 at that time

7:10 pm

People like that make lasting impressions.

link not working cos

7:11 pm

She marchd in gay pride parades every year after her defeat til like 3 years ago.. just to show her support. not ask for their support.

7:11 pm

7:12 pm

the link worked for me; she sounds like a fascinating woman!

7:12 pm

she came out in favor of gay marriage in her campaign in 1994.

7:14 pm

did she come out in favour while still in office?

7:15 pm

She was the democratic nominee for Governor when she said it.

7:15 pm

7:17 pm

So true

nope.no dice.

7:18 pm

could I please have a clue for the si 5/10?

s'ok, sorry you lost your mentor cos

7:18 pm

Whether I or anyone, espesially the government, agrees or disagree shouldn't matter

7:18 pm

though, there was this one woman we had,she wanted to marry her horse.of course she was refused, not because of sexual discrimination but because the horse in question was a male under the current age of consent in this province;)

7:18 pm

LOL

7:19 pm

I agree also.

7:19 pm

it is true!! was a gentle way to deny her and still retain her dignity

7:19 pm

wow, crossy. are you teasing?

7:19 pm

the horse was under 16 and had no living parents to sign off

7:19 pm

no,i am not

7:20 pm

there are ways to refuse, but gently

7:20 pm

she of course had issues, but understood that the horse was undar age

7:20 pm

Hi kyleteresa...sorry, don't have that one....looking

7:22 pm

ick. I found it! I always forget that word! :)

7:23 pm

I'm looking too.

7:23 pm

so,in the end you avoid having to fight with her over the absurdity of a human marrying a horse

7:24 pm

did she apply after the horse was "of age?"

7:24 pm

no,in later years she got religion and thought it would be a bad idea

7:24 pm

seems by that time the horse was not a virgin:))

7:25 pm

oh. my. goodness....

7:27 pm

or an italian calls a service at the catholic church

8:08 pm

got that one - thats the 2nd MA 5

8:08 pm

sorry, that's my 1st one too. (and I'd typed the publisher in the wrong spot and hit enter before realizing it

8:08 pm

I found two words in the puzzle that don't show in the answers.

8:09 pm

the first one is ava Ma5

okay, i just found ma5, a girl's name, or a big plastic basin used in a kitchen

8:09 pm

ma 5/12 is also a play in billards

8:09 pm

Gwen; the publishe is Swan Sonnenchein & Co. It's a 4th Edition published in 1880

jzw, we are stuck with a kind of crappy dictionary that doesn't allow a lot of perfectly good words

8:10 pm

thnx ruru - thats the one

okay, nef, let me look 'em up

8:10 pm

I found it in my scrabble dictionary. What do they use?

8:11 pm

enable

8:12 pm

enable is a riddle wrapped in an enigma coddled in a conundrum

8:13 pm

Gwen, It's titled "the Complete works of William Shakespeare" edited by the Rev. Alexander Dyce and is labeled "the Stratford-on-Avon Edition"

i have collected about one gajillion words this website won't take, but should. i just keep it for laughs.

okay, nef, i should tell you some "in general" things. in general, rebinding lowers the value of a collectible book. also, in general, shakespeare is not all that collectible because he is one of those authors that is reprinted constantly. (more)

8:15 pm

and don't even think about using most common medical terms (such as cath or meds) because Enable doesn't know them

if the books are really far gone it is a waste of money to rebind them. much cheaper to simply buy a new edition.

8:17 pm

Cath and meds are abbreviations. Which the rules say are not allowed, but they are because it takes "some". Like mayo.

rebinding one volume could cost aboutr $50-$100 easily (i'm estimating, of course) so the whole set could cost a goodly amount

mayo is a truncation, not an abbreviation. (yes, i know picky picky)

8:18 pm

am7 please?

8:19 pm

wow!! 100 for a rebinding of a large hardcover??

am7, love (in french) + ending meaning "one who does"

rebinding by a professional, using quality material, $100 easily, yes

8:19 pm

ahh tyvm

8:19 pm

Well then cath and meds are truncations too.

8:19 pm

good to know

8:20 pm

Some of the books are really far gone; the leather bindings and covers are turning to dust. The thing I like about the series is that it has all these wonderful old 19th century actors in costumes with a tissue sheet facing it saying things like "Mr. Sidney Herbert in 'Two Gentlemen of Verona"'

8:20 pm

well,if i am rebinding at all then it must be best materials

now, having said all that, if your set has anything remarkable about it (example: hand-colored plates) then it might be worth rebinding, but my guess is, it's not

8:20 pm

sa6 please?

aha, you have what is known as "red rot" which is what old leather gets. it flakes, then disintegrates.

8:21 pm

does not the rice paper sheets indicate hand coloured plates? were they not used to prevent transfer stains to the ajoining pages?

8:21 pm

no hand-colored plates, unfortunately. :-(

8:21 pm

They are B & W photos/ lithographs.

8:22 pm

ah

tissue guards are common and don't indicate the type of plate, no. they are there to help prevent offset, which can occur with a lot of types of printing

8:22 pm

ahh,i see

8:22 pm

*ten thousand men in SF panicked at BDG 's comment

8:22 pm

red rot. oh Pooh

8:23 pm

Har dee har, Ru. : D

your books may well be above "common" due to the photos. the best thing to do would be to take one volume to your nearest used bookdealer and have them evaluate them

8:23 pm

cowards!!!!!!!!!!

8:24 pm

that is exactly what is happening. Now maybe I should consider just saving the pictures?

8:24 pm

what surprises me is how much extra value can be added to some books with a nice clean dust jacket still intact

8:24 pm

** finito ** haven't finished for quite a while now

in general, photos are not that exciting, but lithographs would be. (look up lithograph on wikipedia if you don't know diff a litho from a photo)

8:24 pm

I laugh in your general direction.

8:24 pm

yaaa for teach!!

8:25 pm

okay. Now that I'm sort of, kind of, almost retired I'll try and find a used book dealer here.

crosshair, a serious collector wants a perfect jacket, so yes, the value goes way up

wtg wvteach !!!!!!! @ < @ !!!!!!

8:25 pm

lol, thats the situation i am in.kind of,amost, sort of maybe retired

8:25 pm

sa6 please?

8:26 pm

YAY, wvteach!!! WTG!!!

8:26 pm

sa 5 + a vowell

8:26 pm

add a vowel to end of sa5 before it

be sure to phone the bookstore first and ask if they have someone who can look it over. not every used bookstore can give appraisals

8:26 pm

I thought you are still a working man, crossy?

8:26 pm

thnx - good to be back again

8:27 pm

thank you very much for the info, Gwen

8:27 pm

I wish I could retire

i collect songbooks (and a few other topics) and like most collectors i value Fine condition over Good condition (Good is actually pretty bad, call it about a 5 out of 10)

8:27 pm

ty Ruru

8:27 pm

8:28 pm

And ty Cos

8:28 pm

Songbooks? How about Swedish language ones (if DH's cousin doesn't want it)

i prefer folklore, and language doesn't matter so much. is it folklore? and are there tunes?

8:30 pm

We have a bunch of Swedish language books and don't know what to do with those either. Maybe check at the used book store I guess

i will be happy to buy the songbook, if it has tunes

(and if it's not falling apart. no missing pages or serious damage)

oh, i found a word!

8:32 pm

ruru, it was sort of forced on me by my hip replacement and sick relatives (DH and his Aunt). Now that I've finally got some stuff done; I may have time to enjoy "retirement"

8:35 pm

oh.. fireworks . didnt know I was almost done lol

8:35 pm

We are supposed to have a big snowstorm tomorrow and then it's going to be 60 degrees on Saturday. Nice to know the snow won't be around long.

8:37 pm

Molly, we've had over a foot of snow in the last 24 hours, so .... have fun!

8:37 pm

I can handle one day of being snowed in if I have that kind of weekend to look forward to.

8:43 pm

We have no weather in Phoenix---boring.

8:46 pm

We have two seasons---heaven and hell. Now we're in heaven but soon we'll be in hell.

8:47 pm

The weather dudes are pumped. They have had nothing to report all winter long. They will have a marathon tomorrow.

8:47 pm

My monkeys are sleeping so have no chance to find more words. Good luck all. Poof.

8:50 pm

Molly, where are you? I'm assuming the East coast?

8:55 pm

Yep

8:56 pm

Mi6 and mi7 can be a tree or a drink

9:18 pm

hi all

9:20 pm

hi jmc. how have you been lately?

9:22 pm

i have been up and down. . .pretty up today after a rough morning. . .

9:23 pm

i woke up to a truck driving through my yard and ramming my fence. . .

9:23 pm

how are you bugs

9:24 pm

I just started getting the red boxes of doom after I came in and said hello. I hope they are not permanent

9:24 pm

I am enjoying life. Spending lots of time on projects that interest me even tho I am volunteering and am broke.

9:25 pm

i was getting them all week but messed with my computer and now that part works fine. . . unfortunately screwed up my browser somehow. . .its always something

9:25 pm

broke is not all that bad if you have enough to eat. . .

9:25 pm

oh crap. How bad is your fence?

9:26 pm

fortunately (as I planned) the huge concrete base stopped his truck so the wooden fence is untouched. . .

9:26 pm

Broke is a choice because I chose retirement and mental health over salary. We are always good for food.

9:26 pm

he had to jump my 2 1/2 high curb to get in the yard!

9:27 pm

holy smokes! how fast was he going?

9:27 pm

i am broke too but not quite ready to completely retire. . .i keep hoping my organization will get going. . .

9:27 pm

not that fast. . .huge truck with big wheels backing up the alley. . . me screaming out the window at him. . .good times. . .

9:28 pm

I hope so too. You have a much better chance of it than you would in Canada. We are not so passionate about our politics

9:29 pm

well if i were canadian i am sure i would have focused on something else. . .

9:30 pm

you watching and screaming helplessly brought back a memory of watching a huge truck almost run over a toddler on a tiny bike thing. He was down so low the driver had no idea he was there

9:31 pm

not that scary to worry about my fence. . .just pissed me off. . .

9:31 pm

some of us are passionate about politics but not as many

9:31 pm

well it is good to have passionate people in a democracy

9:32 pm

I agree. and your cause is a good one

9:32 pm

ty

9:32 pm

I think passionate needs to stay in the bedroom

9:32 pm

sheesh my cat is sniffing these papers this woman brought over today. . .i am guessing the smell of her dozens of cats must be on the papers. . .

9:33 pm

or the stairway.. or the kitchen. or the closet.. or the ..

9:33 pm

not me ru! haha

9:33 pm

i would think you would want people out of the closet

9:34 pm

maybe that is why Canadians are not so passionate about politics --- we know where it belongs

9:34 pm

I have to look for words again.

9:34 pm

haha too cold to get out of bed. . .

9:35 pm

you have the idea jm

9:35 pm

:-D

9:36 pm

hi again. I was getting a headache there for a bit.

9:36 pm

My tea has helped.

9:36 pm

hope you feel better nef

9:36 pm

Hi Nef. Hunger headache or eyestrain from looking for words?

9:36 pm

what kind of tea

9:37 pm

jmc, I've been to your site several times, I like what you've posted there; but am wondering if there is some sort of solution to the problem of money in politics?

9:37 pm

eyestrain; and it's Good Earth tea

9:37 pm

i actually support a constitutional amendment that has been introduce by Cong. Schiff

9:38 pm

i am meeting with his staff next tuesday so even though i don't have money i am making some headway. . .

9:38 pm

Ooh! What is the number?

9:39 pm

i had the amendment posted on my website but i am in the middle of changing the site and it seems to have dropped off. . . HJRes 21. . .

9:39 pm

i think it has a minor flaw that could be fixed and hope to discuss that with them. . .

9:39 pm

it doesn't solve everything but it is a good start and it doesn't make things worse. . .

9:40 pm

hey hey - made it!

9:40 pm

YAY!

9:40 pm

i got my brand new car cover in time to keep the rain out of the footwell so I am pretty happy too welki

9:41 pm

baby is gorgeous, older grand-daughter divine - kids are tired, but happy

9:41 pm

MPR had a program about how the White House is using the petition process to "allow" the White House to communicate with people who sign petitions about subjects they are passionate about. Maybe you could start a petition?

9:41 pm

lovely!

9:42 pm

sounds like a good time for you to visit then, welki. How was your trip?

9:42 pm

I may do that nef. . .it is an idea with some merit. . .of course i had to find the right constitutional amendment first. . .

9:42 pm

trip was long, nef - and the hotel, well - hahaha, you get what you pay for! it's not that bad, just past its glory days

9:42 pm

when was the baby born welki?

9:43 pm

9:43 pm

oh dear. I hope IT DOESN'T HAVE BED BUGS!

9:43 pm

9:43 pm

Oops! Sorry about the caps.

9:44 pm

NEF I am at home and I am feeling itchy now

9:44 pm

hmmm should i bring clean sheets?

9:44 pm

how's the mommy doing? (Is she your daughter or DIL?)

9:44 pm

it's actually pretty clean - the room is on a floor that they're doing heavy maintenance on, smells bleachy, but better than *something else*

9:44 pm

nah - if i see that there's an 'issue,' will let you know where i've moved to :)

9:45 pm

mom's fine, exhausted - same with dad. with a little luck, i can help them with the housework and the almost 4 year old

9:45 pm

9:45 pm

baby snuggles are the best.

9:45 pm

that would be nice of you and much appreciated i am sure. . .

9:45 pm

9:46 pm

good morning sun

9:46 pm

duh!

9:46 pm

ty both and slap me with a fish

9:46 pm

I had a client last year that the house was infested with bed bugs; she had bites all over (like mosquito bites). Turned out she was allergic to them and she lost her baby at 4 months (I don't know if it was due to the bed bug bites or not though)

9:47 pm

i'm getting itchier and itchier :)

9:48 pm

how sad

9:48 pm

well that is a sad story. . .

9:48 pm

Sorry; I forgot your not nurses here.. No more medical talking; I promise

9:48 pm

i find a shot of jack to help with itching. . .

9:48 pm

trust me nef the stories lawyers tell are tough too!

9:48 pm

use some nice soothing lotions, welki.

9:49 pm

I lost babies Nef and it was a student nurse who was the most comforting.

9:49 pm

nah, it'll be fine

9:50 pm

oh, Bugs. I'm so sorry.

9:50 pm

i actually picked hotels based on bedbug ratings (because that's the way i am)

9:50 pm

9:50 pm

9:50 pm

9:51 pm

9:51 pm

9:51 pm

9:51 pm

10:02 pm

you'll be sober or you'll stay another night :)

10:03 pm

trust me i don't start drinking in the morning. . .

10:04 pm

BRB, I forgot to "shoot" DH! (he needs his shot!

10:04 pm

i can't stand drinks at breakfast. . . maybe a beer or a glass of wine for lunch. . .i saves my jack for evenings

10:06 pm
