do you play solitaire online?
much easier than having to do all the shuffling and dealing
no, have it on my computer.
please may i have a clue for the 9
it's awful, how sometimes you chog in and no-one responds.
fr 6/30, fr9 follows with an ending that comes up often in this grid
jenny, fr9. special person with gerund finish
lovely, thanks rose
I also play bridge online - have played with a chap from NJ for some years now, don't really know him at all
chat a bit now and then
one day i will learn how to play that card game. unfortunately, i just don't seem to have enough hours in my day at the moment
I swear, hubby cut his teeth on a deck of cards - he was dragged out to the local card parties by his Mom
so when we were married, we took up bridge together - joined a duplicate club - good place to learn the game fast, had a non-playing director who also taught
sounds ideal.....some-one to teach, who isn't actually playing simultaneously.
it was great, don't often see that
oh, lord, just saw myself in a mirror. washed my quite short hair yesterday, went for my ride on the motorbike today, in full gear of course. now i have helmet hair. it
sticking straight out from my head, like i've stuck a finger in a power outlet.
lol
i mean there are women who are paying a hairdresser a fortune to get this look....and i get it for free.lol
you could rent out hubby - just for the ride, of course
hmmmm, thinking.....nah, he's my ride, and only mine.
and that's a good way to be
oh, yeah....
need a clue for gr7/40, the last one
past tense of gr4, to smile
thanks rose
np's flosey. how are you doing now? you had 20 to go before.

WTG FLOSEY!!!!!

night, dear fr6, sleep well, and hopefully awake refreshed.

thanks again

Hey Ruby
hi, all. I am happy to say my parents have moved back into their home, eight months after the fire that destroyed half of the house.
Hello, Lynxxx!
Hello, Angel, that is great news.although i bet it seems emptier in the home now.
And hello, All bablers :-)
*Babblers.
Yay found the 9 already..that has to be a good sign.
zooz, I went to their house last weekend, and It seems like the entire house shrunk, although the kitchen is much larger than it was originally, since they remodeled and used much of the garage for the new kichen. it does seem strange, too, without my oldest brother.
I take it they live not too far away for regular visits..so that should be good.
we live about 45 minutes apart.
My parents do not live too far away from me, i so enjoy visiting them as often as i can.Even if it is just to help them out with jobs they can no longer do themselves...i enjoy their company & banter..lol
my parents are almost 80, and they have slowed down considerably.
Same as my parents, Angel. Although their minds are still as sharp as when i was little.. hehe
My father gets so annoyed that he can not physically do what he used to be able to do , yet his mind is telling him he used to do it why not now..bless him.
Ha i found being too loud word NO 5/10 then PT it thinking it would not take..but try it anyway..and it did!
ty zooz, strange word
Yes i was trying to use it in my head but could not think of a situation..lol
Ah in the DEF it is used in the context of spreading a rumour.
Looked at the dictionart def. didn't know it could be a verb
Oh
Same here..thats why i struggled to find a use for it..but now i know.
I want to use it as " I no6 you " when hubby gets fed up with me talking at him, lol
hahaha
I like that.
The Ps are playing hard to find.
i need some suggestions. My husband and I received gift cards for Amazon dot com, and we cannot decide how to use them. ideas?
Just started here, being distracted by the pooch wanting attention
That is a nice distraction though.
Angel how about an E-reader?
That's a wide remit Angel, can't you get just about anything on Amazon?
You can also use them to rent movies from Amazon's streaming service.
Yoga books?
If they are shared vouchers do you need anything for the home?
Do the vouchers have a time limit on when to use..if not...sit on them untill you find something you really need.
Hello, Molly :-)
At last i have all the Ps
wtg zooz
Yay, just found the 9 all by myself :)
Good going, Chrissie!

Excellent Zooz - That gave me my fireworks
These are private homes and there are problems with the insurance companies and FEMA is not so quick to help either. Isnt Katrina still in the recovery stage 6 years later?
such nice clues Zooz TY again
Congrats Kazz!
Congrats, Kazzer!
WTG Kazzer !!! :)
We are in decent shape. I just feel so bad for those without.
congrats, kazzer
Very sad, especially in the winter.
I would think summer is a challenge too. High rise apartments with no air conditioning can get stifling.
True, there is really no good time to be without power.
I am hoping that all the high rises without power will be in good shape by summer. That is a priority.
fingers crossed - especially that you get another elevator working fast (that's scary)
Ok time to do boring house work..take care, All.
Bye zooz...have a good day :)
bye Zooz - remember its a day of rest
bye, zooz
when the second elevator repairs are complete, they wil shut down this one, repair the wires and then we will have both. Should be complete by the end of May.
Then hopefully we will be okay.
good morning everyone:))

Hi bichon :)
Happy Birthday Elliot! and hello Mimi
Elliott's little brother Nathaniel was born two days before Halloween---I wanted them to hold out for two days, but.......

I wouldn't want to hold out for two days
me either :)

Good day, Babblers!
'morning, scrabbs
hi Scrabbs!
Hi Scrabs
hi scrabbs :)
well, I kinda did with my 2nd as she was a premmie
Happy St Paddy's Day to all!
crossed your legs real hard Smores?
Yeah, I know...by the time I was close to giving birth each time I was ready to go. The nurses told me my blood pressure wasn't supposed to go down the way it did but go up. I told them "You don't understand...this is the part I LIKE...I just want them OUT!"
My son was 9 days early and there was no complaining from me
:)
My son told me yesterday that they're not planning on having more and that he's going to get a vasectomy in the near future. In the meantime, his wife is using some kind of implanted device for birth control that is supposed to be effective. I told him to watch out---I got pregnant on every birth control device known to mankind!
That's how I know mine were meant to be. They had to run an obstacle course, pole vault and swim through muck just to be conceived!
Great story, Mimi.
Cute Mimi
some men seem very reluctant to make that step....so much easier when they do it
funny Mimi
I always wanted to have another pregnancy. That never happened, so we adopted
Made-up word for today: garf - the sound a cat or dog makes trying to get rid of a hairball.
teehee
hi scrabbs! long time no chat
Hello again Smores!
That's nice bichon
Lynxxx, I wouldn't let my ex do that....I was afraid they'd mess up the plumbing! I got my one tube tied instead.
And good morning everyone! Happy St. Patrick's day! Erin Go-Braless!
hi Car
Hi agai car :)
hi Car.ee
(car)--funny---and so 60's!
en 6/27, a clue pls
Good for you, Bichon. But I wish more babies were available for adoption. It is so rare now--teen girls are happy to have a baby. In the last 2 months I have seen new mothers ages 15, 16, 17 and 18.
very generous is all I can say Mimi
Hi Car and Nono

lol so 60's and so me this last two weeks....can't get ara on
ty Annie
Her mother is a ditz and has a toddler of her own.
I was being selfish, lynx---used to call him Old Faithful, if you get my drift.....
wow...scrabbler
Sheesh. No wond the girl wanted a baby
*wonder
Does it ever seem that mostly the wrong people are reproducing?!
yep
There is no shame anymore. Everything is to be tolerated and accepted, and even celebrated.
(Molly)
It seems like being selfish is now an art form.
I expect the girl is now on public assistance
Mimi, everyday in my office I am reminded that people are becoming stupider and more feral. Truly feral. Feral parents raising feral kids.
and how can a 15 year old support a child and where is the father?
Molly snuck in there. Good day, lassie.
The father is probably 16 and she doesn't have to worry as the checks from public assistance keep coming
We were watching a show and there was a pregnant 15yo and my daughter (15) said, you'd kill me, wouldn't you.
There is no anxiety about having a baby when the government supports you, no matter how many ids you have.
And I was denied SSI after a heart attack! But we have to give these people money for having babies...and they don't even use the money for the good of those babies most of the time...ridiculous.
The father is 16 but denies paternity, so we are awaiting testing.
Since he's a minor, are his parents responsible
I told her, no, not until the baby was born.
Doesn't seem like ANYONE is responsible anymore, does it, bichon?
Good plan, smores.
i've been on birth control for years and wonder what happens in 10 or 15 years or whatever as i approach menopause...
I think Mother Nature has mucked a bit. Having children as a teenager was good when we only lived to 40s & 50s ....but as we live to 70s & 80s now - we should not be able to bear children until we are in our 30s
The government becomes responsible for irresponsible behavior.
No responsibility, no accountability, no shame.
Amen, Annie.
Why, Hurshy?
But not responsible for us older folks who really need the help.
She probably has a bunch of friends who are really excited for her and want to emulate her
I wonder about that, I mean if a minor wrecks a car or damages property the parents are held responsible. Why not for child support?
Yep, smores...after all, having a baby at age 15 is a car wreck!
Mine both know better.
like, how do i know when i can go off it and not get pregnant with some horribly disfigured child of a 45 year old? being on BC so long may be making my periods give up now, how do i know if it's that or early menopause? are there health risks to being on it from age 22-50?
I would hope that if my teenaged child got pregnant, she'd have an abortion.
hurshy, you could use condoms for a few months to see if you started menstruating again
The young mothers really do treat their babies likes dolls--cute little things to dress up, feed, hug. But when the babies demonstrate free will at about 9 months, the mothers get tired and frustrated. And, usually, the fathers are minimally or not involved.
well actually at the moment even condoms would not be necessary
Hurshy, there is a health benefit to stopping ovulation.
Have you heard of Colette Dinnagan Hursh - Aust designer quite well known internationally...just had her first child at 47...I am sure she would have been on BC too
scrabs, so you're saying i should just stay on it as long as i like?
I'm with you, bichon...I know it's controversial but I think too many children suffer from having been born into bad situations. And somehow these girls rarely consider adoption.
Talk to your gyn MD.
yeah i know
grain
oops sorry
I could never hope for abortion.
I had one years ago, smores....very sad but necessary.
To change the subject, did anyone see the finale of The Bachelor and were you surprised?
phantom: indigo
I did also when I was 18, would never wish my daughters to go through that.
nong - Australian slang for a stupid or incompetent person
Nope, I don't watch it
tried it too hurshy
Also, has anyone seen the movie "The Master?" One of the worst movies I've ever seen...agree or disagree? Would love to know if anyone else found anything redeeming about it.
are there any GN words?
oh I really wanted to see that movie - badly
no gn words

I hear they are having that same weather in Ireland today.
Oh my. Here in the great northwest we are so far away from the emerald isle but they call Seattle the emerald city.
Murphy was outside but he had enough of the weather and looked in from the porch through the glass in the doors to be let in. He doesn't woof to signal things. Yesterday for the first time I heard him growl. He was playing frisbee tug with his smaller black lab cousin and they were equally matched in stuborness. She was not about to let go.
Good ole Murphy. He has a fine Irish name.
Family name of grandmother whose father was from Ireland (according to family tradition.)
Paddy's wife was tired of him coming home drunk and disheveled. The night the old family cat passed away, she gutted it and put the cat guts in the kitchen sink to scare the bejeesus out of Paddy. The next morning, she found Paddy sitting at the kitchen table with a solemn look on his face. "Mother," he said, "I've quit drinkin' for good." "Have you now", she replied. "Indeed I have. Last night I came home and puked my guts out in the kitchen sink. But don't ye worry, I've put 'em all back in."

When I was in Primary School in the late sixties we were taught all those old rebel songs. Nowadays, sadly, its politically incorrect. I LOVE being politically incorrect!

hello all :)
hiya smores
howdy smores
may never forgive you for telling me about this game LOL
aha! a new convert!
LOL...hi mama :)
Hey Lesilie :)
a new FRUSTRATED convert
took me a minute, feeding my face while babbling :)
been working on this for much of the evening and still have 50 words to find-are you kidding me????????
lol..I have 45left
haha it can be difficult. has anyone told you about lickety's list yet?
no...????....!!!!
tom'9 the evening to all
under the grid: top of the second row is a link that says "lickety's babble clues." it will give you the first & second letter for every word in the grid
I usually find as many words as i can on my own. Then i check out Lickety and try for more. When all else fails, I ask for a clue here in chat.
eek...so sorry mama, look below the stats...friends of babble and click on lickety clues
so now I understand how people asking for clues get their info...I want to get as many as I can as well but 50 still??????????
finishing your first grid is pretty rare, mama. most people take a while to get to that point
and you learn all the weird words that pop up all the time
Yeah, I always try to get as far as I can 1st but would not finish nearly as often without Lickety
ok I feel a bit better. It is a bit like boggle, learning the unique words that is
"Unique" is a kind word.
stick with it mamcitadbh! Lickety;s List really helps a lot but I didn't see fireworks for over a month when I began
yes, there are many words that I had never heard of (and probably never will) anywhere but here
<---still waiting for fireworks
a month!!! I am not sure that I am that persistent
lol...ruru :)
I had to see what they looked like
we will do it together then ruru, deal?
thinking more stubborn than persistant
Pay no attention to the man with the goat face. He finishes grids at lightning speed.
deal
okay thanx for cluing me in
"The Man with the Goat Face"... coming to theatres this spring?
brb
well then ruru now that you have been exposed I guess you need to give me all the answers
LOL Leslie
I think I chat more than hunt for words sometimes
*munches tin can*
it was so weird in Napa today
<---man who talks to goats?
All the grapes turned green for St. Patrick's Day?
nope
there were hundreds of drunk people dressed in green
Oh, I thought maybe the nudists from San Francisco paid a visit.
mamacita, another important thing to know is that the grid "flips" (we get a new one) at midnight CT
Try to get some sleep Ru. Tomorrow everything will be back to normal. : )
I'm back...officially stuffed
sp6/2pls?
Painted green nudists :)

teehee leslie :)
And yet he chose to go face to face...
with any oncomer who challenged his pride.
we need something about puns in there
Sorry, just couldn't help it.
As all limericks do, mine had something to do with face and got totally dirty, so I refrain from finishing it.
The limerick is furtive and mean; you must keep her in close quarantine; or she sneaks to the slums and quickly becomes disorderly, drunk and obscene.
(author unknown)
lol...it hadn't gotten dirty.....yet
:D Hi Pastor J
howdy!
howdy!
yes, I was at puns and buns so I asked for help
Pastor! Well done!
my fave limerick of all time - wish i'd written it
Can I get a clue for pi 7/32 please?

Got it...thanks!
*then...sorry keyboard sticking again
Hiya BDG
No more honey at the keyboard for you young lady.
Bye for now...gonna go watch Once
so how do some of these long words end up with these big scores, is the scoring complicated?
If you click on HELP above, it explains the scoring.
i think i will have to quit with three words left...the go words and my remaining in word just won't materialize...
penquis ask for different clues then!!!!
scoring is complicated, yes. 4 letter word is 4 points unless one of the letters is worth more than one point. however . . .
the tiles have point values just like in Scrabble
for a five-letter word (or longer) you multiply by 2.
for a six-letter word, you multiply by 3.
and so on. so, a seven-letter word, where all the letters are 1-pt, would be worth 21 points.
i can't do that in my head so i have made myself a chart!
oops, 28 points for a 7-letter word (see, i'm not good with the math
yeah what Gwen said, LOL thank you Gwen
Well i have in 6/21 missing.
here's a section of my chart, for those of you who care:
from what tile Pen?
wow theres actually a list? :)
err I mean starting letter
happy leppy day all!
5,10 = all 1s [arles] 5,12 = one 2 [cello] 5,14 = one 3 [argle] or two 2s [harsh] 5,16 = one 4 [fair] or a 3 and a 2 [thong] or three 2s [almud] 5,18 = one 5 [sewar] or a 4 and a 2 [felid] or a 3 and two 2s [poyou] 5,20 = one 6 [nertz] or a 5 and a 2 [knead] or a 4 and a 3 [befit] or a 4 and two 2s [focus] or two 3s and a 2 [gurry] or a 3 and three 2s [chyme]

oops, that's fr7, not fi7 (oy)

hi DC
grats to all the finishers
wonders what a grat is and what a finisher would do with it?
so sorry, being lazy - congrats!
Oh :D
Ru was just being a brat
:D
Pretty soon we will be communicating with one letter words. : P
y m
With one letter words we would be safe from the penalty box.
And finger obesity will be at record levels.
with one letter words we'd all finish the grid in no time
blame all those people with mobiles
New TV show: The Biggest Finger Fat Loser
I was reading about those Football players who were convicted of raping that girl in Ohio.. how lucky they were to be sentenced to Juvenile prison instead of State prison
Jillian Michaels: You type those words! Every damn one of them. And make sure you type them in full! No short cuts!
In a state prison they'd learn the tight end position pretty quickly I would think
I'd love to think that case was a lesson to jocks and how they treat girls, but I don't think so.
you would hope so.. but.. no... teenagers and alcohol is a deadly combination
are a deadly combination oopsie
Once just ended...quick clean on the kitchen...time to finish :)
Once?
ABC: Once Upon A Time. It runs until 9:30???
oh.. never heard of it
FINISHED!!! VERY EXCELLENT!!!
Grats, now you know what Once means. : P
No it ended at 9 then I half way cleaned up the kitchen.
wtg godthaab
WooHoo Godthaab !!!
*wonder if one has to watch Once twice to get the story line?
or even thrice
Fee times a mady
I thought of that
that was sooooo funny.. that SNL skit
Everyone not familiar with Buh-Wheat Sings is scratching their heads.
lol...I had forgotten about that...I did think of the actual song though
Murphy at his very best
that and the James Brown Hot Tub bit
very talented to say the least
It's HOT in the hot tub, uh-huh
Tooo Hot.. I CAAAAAN't take it... woooo
Tooo Hot.. I CAAAAAN't take it... woooo
Eddie teaching Stevie Wonder how to sing My Cherie Amour was pretty funny too.
Eddie Playing Tennis as Stevie Wonder.. a classic
I can't even watch SNL these days.. there's nothing left as far as talent or funniness
I still like the news segment now with Seth Meyers...
It's really lame now.
There was a best on SNL on not too long ago...hilarious...may have to pull up some old ones and watch when I finish here.
*of
Well I need to go shopping for Dinner stuff.. see you all later.. grats to the finishers
Time for me to go as well. Good night all, and thanks for the grats.

I'm watching Eddie Murphy: Delirious now. Goonie Goo Goo.
F's finally finished...had to laugh at fr4.9's
:D So funny
lots of words to chuckle about in this one...
Trying to decide between old SNL or one of his movies
Yep, there are some good on4 today Jilly :)
<----FW!!
WTG!!! woohoo for you Jilly :)
Happy St Paddy's smores, btw..
Back atcha Jilly :)
By the way, something tells me that corned beef and cabbage is way too plebeian for Ru's taste.
oh, and yes I had corned beef, cabbage and red skin potatoe for dinner :)
Stir fry it perhaps??
:)
The funniest thing I have heard all day is the rumor that Emma Watson was going to star in 50 Shades Of Grey, the movie. And how she squelched that rumor on Twitter.
lol..my youngest doesn't like corned beef...fixed her a pizza
that is funny
Hadn't heard that one
I read that yesterday. Laughed at it.
Had left over corned beef for lunch, made soup for hubby tonight as he was skiing today.
Yes I understand the need to shed Hermoine but not even she would do it lol
Isn't SOG's character a bit older than that?
That will be my lunch tomorrow Jilly
Might have to take a cabbage break tomorrow....
brb
I think it's getting gassy at Chez Jill.
LOL...just a wee bit...
I fry it all up in a pan. Cubed corned beef and potatoes, shredded cabbage, carrots and sweet corn. It's very good that way.
Sounds yummy molly..
tadone! finito! hi everyone!
WooT WooT WooT dawg!
LBD, I was thinking of you today. Saw a funny Maxine St. Patrick's Day song on You Tube.
WTG Dawg :)
hmm, might have to google that, Molly.
Sounds good Molly, never thought to add sweet corn.
It gives it nice color. (I've watched too many cooking shows)
lol, just watched it, Molly. that is cute.
I didn't tonight, but I do add carrots sometimes.
LBD, the voice in that video is exactly the way I imagined her voice would be. Sometimes you can tell what people will sound like by what they look like.
I agree, Molly. I wonder who does the voice.
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
Hello minv!
Hi Min :)
Maxine's creator is originally from Jersey. And I suspect Maxine is based on some of the "Jersey Mamas" he experienced.
