hello everyone :)
Stidkid#1 posted that the fire was probably electric, and it was on Monday. Lucky the dog and the budgies were smothered, but the people were okay -- maybe all were out at the time.

She had a house fire and it appears that they lost a whole lot. Their dog and pet birds were killed.
They are living in a hotel for now and she had a minor car accident today.
oh my how awful for Stid
makes my stomach hurt just thinking of it... so thankful all of the people were not hurt... how awful
I feel ill now.
pparently the walls and roof are still there, but pets and possessions are gone. I gather the family is in a hotel. Terrible tragedy.

Do they know how it started?
I am mostly "okay" with moments of extreme not-okayness.
It would definitely take me a long time to even begin to be okay.
It was an electrical fire. No official word yet though.
So scary.
I am just so very relieved my Grant wasn't more badly hurt than needing a couple stitches.
Even the loss of cherished heirlooms is bearable because he is okay and Matthew of course doesn't live with us any more.
Definitely puts one's priorities in a non-material place.
The loss of Lucky hurts the most. I can't think too often of him. But we were able to bury him with Buffy's ashes which were saved in the house, so that felt right.
stiddy, when you have time, no hurry. i have sent you an email.
I don't know how I will ever get over that loss, but I know I will. i have after losing other pets. It's just hard for a while.

I think I like the "three ingredient" choclit patties the most. Dark choclit, honey, peppermint oil (the only mint I can tolerate). I LOVE those! So you-all can share from the others... choclit covered orange, choclit and almonds, choclit bars, choclit bits... *grin* she wanted to replenish my supply.

flosey, stiddy knows that we are praying for her. she actually seems to be in quite good spirits. little flashes of humour breaking through. she certainly is doing it tough at the moment.
they have a tough row to hoe for a while - takes months to get everything sorted out and back in place - hopefully the home can be restored
i have been blessed, never had to deal with the trauma of physically losing my home.came close once, during the bushfires in the early 80's.

no, a chimney above fireplace - that had been approved, fire started between floors, smoke was coming through the joints
good grief, flosey. you could all have been burnt in your beds....
was January, so cold winter day, one started a fire in fireplace - which was normally absolutely OK, but for the chimney, it was the straw that broke.......
we were very lucky

I have a great respect for all firemen - they try their best to salvage items that could be family treasures, etc
she had told us she wouldn't be having mother mac easter sunday. it is a special day for my side of the family, when we all get together and celebrate with a picnic in the park. plus this year it was to be my birthday celebration as well.when she said she wouldn't be taking care of mother mac sunday, i had visions of having to drag her to the park or miss the day's outing altogether.

Shes doing very well, Lilliann, given that she has had a stroke. However, she will shortly be discharged by the hospital, and full time 24/7 care will be needed.
i ahven't taken care of mine yet molly but i feel weird that they are still taking care of me at 43, especially the last fortnight that they were with me.i feel like i should be helping them now
will that be nursing care as in back at home?
i have cared for stroke patients in a nursing home.sometimes that is easier for the rel

Things are going ok here, lilli. I've got a really cruddy sinus infection and bronchitis; but they started antibiotics today so I should be seening an improvement soon. DH has had good reports from his doctors, so that is encouraging.
