((((((((RUBY)))))))))
All the kicals say "Don't pant until 1 May", I was smarter :(
hi Ruby, I think you should warm up over a cup of hot coffee
plant*
{{lynxx}}
it was a nice birthday, but I don't believe I'm 70! It's not possible. I wnt a "do-over" or a mulligan
a mulligan?
opposite over here, himself and i were out weeding and pruning for the better part of 3 hours today. was lovely to feel i could do it.
lynx is right, ruby.....you do need to get something hot in a cup and wrap your hands around it too.
70 is the new 55, haven't you heard?
do you have a little garden stool for weeding, rosem so that you don't have to get all the way down?
ruby, you are a VERY young 70....the pics do not lie, hun
I'm so glad you could get out and do what you love to do, rose.
yes, my friend, i do....but today was mostly pruning...particularly the ginger plants...they have gone ballistic!!!!
we had such a miserable winter but the weeds loved it I did many hours of weeding last week preparatory to getting all those plants in the ground. I won't know what survived until it warms up again
awww, thanx, peach. first time in nearly 4 years. with don beside me, i can achieve miracles.
it woud be interesting to compare our gardens, rose, you with your sub-tropial and exotic plants and me with my English garden (via Martha Stewart)
lol, have found my cacti and succulent rockery again. *sigh* have lost a lot, but have many to put in the ground.
you are so fortunate to have a husband who knows his way around a garden and who is willing to help
mine just throws money at the problem
this looks like a delicious grid but he is waiting for his apero upstairs, so I'll have to come back.
It was lovely to see my friends, if only for a minute!
who says he knows his way around a garden? his idea of gardening is to let fly with the slasher, roses, geraniums, buttercups, onion weed...it doesn't matter...they all get cut to ground level.
Enable doesn't li** in Victoria - never heard of the desal plant
Bless you, ruby!
bye Ruby
*giggle* lyn....no, enable doesn't acknowledge desal
HELLO ALL YOU WONDERFUL BABBLERS!!
hi Pug
Hi everyone! Hope you day is starting as beautifully as ours, beautiful sunshine and cool temps!
hi Marmar - describes our day perfectly
Dear peeps, I must head for my pillows as it is 4:30AM and I can no longer make sense of these letters. Good luck with the grid and I will be back later in the day. Bless you all.
hey puglet and marmar
Yea! We have a rare Weekend with few obligations, a big and welcome treat.
sleep well Peach
peach, have agreat rest and awake refreshed, my dear
bye <Peach, hi grannyrose, puglet, everyone!
Hi Marmar
I'm not crazy about this grid but willing to overlook that fact.
I really enjoy the people more so then the grids I think. Everyone here seem so kind and freindly
good morning all :)
Good Morning Sprite
good morning ((Sprite))
good morning everyone :)
hi lyn :) xxx Hi puglet! Yeah, Babble is a good community.
hi Smores
hiya smores :)
and as car would say.... wheeeee
Morning Smores
hey to sprite and smores
hiya rose :)
You hit the nail on the head puglet! I usually Limit my time and concentrate on the grid for 30 minutes a morning and what I get, I get (never fireworks) but today I have a few extra minutes and I LOVE These People!
hiya Marmar :)
Hi Sweety!
spritey, actually got out into my garden today. did the better of 3 hours there. looo-ooved it
oh rose, what a milestone! Am so happy for you. Wtg girrrrrl!
LOLOL, SPRITEY. YOU BETCHA!!!!
oops, sorry, didn't mean to shout...but then again....
I usually hit the grid before chatting as well...was going for nbt/nbs before entering chog...didn't quite make it...lol
shouting works fine on that li4
wonderful rose :)
sorry, line is just a phantom
:)
awww thanx spritey and smores. has been such a struggle.
so... cavia is not an english word??
my phantom is aluminum
no, smores, apparently not
so close
sure has been, rose, and it is still not free of dedication... but this, you made it and wow.
ummm, sprite...and so agree smores, nearly went crazy trying to find aluminium
cavia = guinny pig, I guess.
guinea pig even
cavy is the common spelling here
that would be cavies?? sprite
alas...non are there
ah! indeed. Cavia in dutch. As a little boy here once proudly stated: "Boys have a penis and girls have a cavia." He was close, but not close enough, lol.
lol
*none even
lol
*shame-faced grin* i went out and bought myself a new pair of shoes for work...didn't get much change from $150, and that was with my 'loyalty' discount. but they are worth it.
put away that shame, rose. If anyone needs something like that, it is you. Both as a reward, and because you NEED it. Being on those feet for such long shifts. Good for you!
good for you rose, as much as you are on your feet, they are well worth it :)
see? :D (Snap, smores!)
lol ... sprite and me agree :)
teehee ... double snap
:)
thanx, dear friend...both of you. they have a special 'dot' in the heel which absorbs vibrations and impact from the hard fllors.
that is priceless, rose
that would be 'floors'
sounds like just what you need :)
Bye for now - lovely grid
hey... we are graduating today! First time I see those words in babble.
Bye lynxxx...enjoy the rest of your evening :)
yeah, and i am taking an extra magnesium tablet in the morning, before going to work...it really does seem that this particular form of magnesium is the answer.
bye lyn, have a grand evening and sleep well!
lyn????FW's?
lol...I found those to sprite...right after my phantom
rose, not giving up pays. And you are the living example. Am so glad to hear this.
(on a side note: anyone else who thinks she doesn't even KNOW 39 V words?)
yay, sprite. you rock!!! just keep at it, hun.
lolol, spritey....too true, hun. was soo-ooo stuck with the v words.
I will, I will. Won't give up either. And now, when I feel like it, I can think of you and realise not giving up really works. *hug*
{sprite}
{{{hug}}} to one of my absolute fave friends.
*hugs rose and smores... and other joiners.,... group hug!*
lol..."raises hand" on the V words
oh, yeah...love group hugs...{{group hug}}
"joins in extra big group hug" :D
*high 5*
okay, dinner ready....cyl8r
enjoy, rose! *hug*
Bye rose....enjoy your meal dear :)
hmmm...valium isn't recognized
that is because it is a proper name. It is actually diazepam.
lol...oops...isn't there, but still not recognized
ahhh...duh
*giggles* a not valid phantom.
:P
teehee... meant :)
I always find lots of those :D
woohoo...finally found the stupid top left i

es4/4 I think
back for my last 30...all S's, grrrr
hi dizgrannie :)
hi Sprite
Thanks sprite...always forget that word
Hi diz :)
yeah... too easy for us babblers, grin
:)
hi Smores
for all that it is big and looks so very open, I have the feeling this is a tight grid.
These Vs are something else...
hi EmaMaria, indeed. Stuck at 26 of 'm.
Hi me too exactly 26
:D
{{sprite}}
another stolen minute.
Did I telll you I had a "sympathy fall" the same day, after I heard about yours?
hi ruby *hug* How are you all doing overthere?
Hi all - I am stuck at 34 of those v words - ugh !
hi Dianne, good job though!
aw sweetie, don't do that. Did you hurt yourself badly?
{{ruby}}
{{smores}}
I always feel so stupid after. Was gardening and was admiring what I had just planted and fell over backwards. How stupid is that?
husband just went to the drugstore to get me some codeine
not stupid at all. Just bad luck.
lol...not stupid ruby...we all have our moments
the good luck part, was my head missed a large rock by about 3 inches or I'd probably still be lying out there
pfff too close for comfort.
are you okay...when you mentioned it the other day I didn't think you were hurt
I'm OK, just tired and sore
"gives ruby another hug"
and the temp dropped about 30 degrees (f) during the night, snow on the mountains this am. I hope all my gardening wasn't for nothing
pain is a huge energy eater
ugh...same here ruby...Thursday it got up in 70's...yesterdays in the 40's and snow flurries
crazy weather
snap for what i was about to write smores
:)
yuck...just looked at the weather...34F at least the sun is suppose to be out today
it looks pretty friendly here. Even the wind seems to have settled down a bit.
IIT IS A WAN SUN HERE
THE WIND SETTLED DOWN BUT IT WAS SO BAD THAT IT SOUNDED LIKE A TORNDO DURING THE NIGHT AND OUR HUGE BARBEQUE + ITS TANK "WALKED" DOWN THE STEPS FROM THE DECK
sorry for the aps
caps*
np ruby...lol...bbq blowing away is worthy of shouting
abd it's a very big oe; I can't even move it 6 inches
wow...that wind must of been strong
next time you want to move it, ruby, the answer, my friend, is....
I thought it was just a small grill
LOL...sprite
uh oh, hee's back
;) I miss GroovyKiwi here... we always had an appropriate song ready.
tell him hi from me, ruby
but that's good ruby, he has your codeine :)
39 v words is too many!
what is GroovyKiwi sprite?
hi hursh, indeed
agree hurshy about 30 too many
smores: that is another Babbler. Hardly on anymore though.
FWs
well i've found 31 and i think that oughta be enough
WTG Diz!! Woohoo :)
ty
the Vs are pretty straight forward
lol...I've only 18 and I too think that oughta be enough
wooooot dizgrannie!!!!
name that male anti-impotence drug!
viagra?
that's not in the grid
is the only one I know, lol
hmm do you not get five zillion commercials for those things over there?
thank god not. Never seen one.
and back...just had a delightful phone call from middle son.
you are so lucky
oh rose, sounds good! Sharable news?
hurshy!!! and hello, hun
nobody in america has the least idea why it would be romantic to take simultaneous but separate baths in outdoor tubs.
???hurshy ... just popped back in
welcome back rose :)
nor would I, actually. Care to explain, hursh?
spritey, just him catching up on family news. my mum has decided to go into full-time care...huge relief for me...as you know, i am already prime carer for mother mac.
indeed, rose. Very wise decision. *hugs*
my mum will be only 15mins away from me...so i hope to be able to call in every week.
oh that would be grand!
that will be nice rose...how is MIL doing?
read back hurshy....cialis
Vs done!
still don't get the bathtub comment
she will be home in about 10 days, spritey and smores..
WTG Dianne
wtg Dianne!
Thanks
I hope she is doing ok, rose
Speaking of songs... don't step on my blue shoes today :D
sprite, have read a book called...children of the self-absorbed. a grownups guide to getting over narcissistic parents..... very close to how to deal with domestic violence....so i'm more than over half-way there.
glad she is doing better rose
oh wow! I need to read that. Thanks for the pointer, will try and find it.
wow...rose
ding ding ding smores!
BRB
sprite, written by Nina W Brown. absolutely spot on.
the cialis commercial has these older people in tubs. if you haven't seen it naturally it makes no sense.
thanks rose
if you can't find it, email me. i will see what i can do.
dianne...you done???
thanks :) Am gonna hunt for it later today. Will keep you in mind for if I don't succeed :)
Damn if there was an O in the grid ..i could of had 'illuminous'
ah, now I get it, hursh. It is a commercial for stiffen up meds. Weird image indeed.
Hello, All :-)
no you couldn't have as it ain't a word
luminous, though.
hey zooz
lol reminds me of a dutch comedian... she has this act about commercials...that she never gets them. "So they show us a man on a tandem, alone... to show us he lost his wife... not just now from the bike... but really lost... and all I think is... who is so stupid to go ride a tandem all by himself??"
hiya zooz :D
brb
well, i suppose if you were really depressed...
That explains why i am crap at this game then hahaha
this may be a hard grid. or perhaps i am just stupid today.
hurshy, you are certainly not stupid. there are many extensions from a base word.
... test
ok... my messages got eaten. Back... and I feel the same, hursh. Large grid, but tight nonetheless.
back with coffee and a bite
I have to go for a bit. Back later. *hugs*
Ouch..who bit you :-)
Bye, Spritey.
lol...Hi zooz
Bye for now sprite {hugs}
I am eating strawberries filled with dark chocolate ganache....mmmm
Sounds nice.
yummy, sprite
wonderful...not the healthiest breakfast...but yummy
for breakfast smores??? SOunds delic...
I am just starting with coffee
lol...yep
Morning mama :)
I just went in there for coffee, but....
Ok it is a beautiful sunny day here temp is climbing close to 19c..i am going to go and tackle the garden..or maybe just potter around in the garden..take care, All ..have a great day where ever you are :-)
*giggle* zooz....you are going to do what i did today...have a lovely day.
Bye for now zooz...enjoy the weather :)
I still have a bit before the sun wakes up
it's starting to get light out...surprisingly there are birds chirping outside my window
I got birds singing too but its a cool morning.--It was so warm afew days ago and now its in the thirties
ooohhhh, do any of you remember a few weeks back? when i shared about a baby magpie imitating all sorts of noises?
I know it was beautiful the other day...then cold and rainy...still cold but at least it's suppose to be sunny.
Yes, rose..is it back?
apart from at least 4 other bird calls, the sound of a fire-engine, and the postman's bike, it has now mastered the sound of squeaky car brakes( our garbage truck). it's driving hubby nuts!
particularly when it makes the sound at 2am...
The bird usually don't hang around my house much...my one cat is a major deterrent
awww...sounds lovely
lol...2am...wow
apparently, the australian magpie is a terrific mimicker.
If no one minds I would like to share something weird that happen to me this morning about 3:30 this morning---I was here at my desk and all at once I heard music!Couldnt firgure out where it was coming from and it was from a music box on my shelf. Its been there for ages and just out of the blue it plays. It a little bit creepy let me say.
wow puglet...how odd
yeah I know
and of course we don't mind :)
oooh! absolutely weird! puglet, that is so....weird!
so you were at your desk? wow I thought I got up early
Its a little unnerving
I bet...nothing that could have jarred it
Iam most always up in the wee hours
hmmmm, temperature dropped???
we are at 35 with wind chill at 29
*giggle* i am usually up in the small hours to wee...is that the same???
lol...my killer cat has been at the window checking out the birds and now wants me to let him out.
nope it was as still as a mouse and just out of the bllue it plays
was it a lullaby...maybe someones trying to tell you to go to sleep :)
wow...Gizmo is being very persistant...didn't like me telling him to wait
dont really know if it is or not but it gave me a chill--never had anything like that to happen before---and dont care to agin==lol
I can imagine...that is very weird...sorry I was being silly about it
Im not doing so hot today on this grid--not even half way
oh no Smore=didnt take it that way at all
me either...but I've been chatting, eating and tormenting my cat soooo
I'm glad puglet...not all get my sometimes weird humor :)
My dogs are all under their covers snoozing.Sounds like a cave of bears
lol...my dog snores also..it's funny
yawning my head off, love, hugs and happy babbling.
when my pug and hubby gets going I cant tell wich is which
G'night Rose...sleep well dear {hugs}
night Rose
teehee puglet
I think Iam going too--Have a wonderful day Smore and anyone else thats here
Pug...I just clicked on your profile...I'm in Indiana also :)
wow
I am in the mid west
What part of Indiana...I'm in Danville
near a small town called Milroy
not familar...what is it near
in between Rushville-Greensburge and Shelbyville
ah...so about an hour from me I think
something like that
that's funny...we chat with folks on here from all over the world and here we are that close :)
I live in the country and we have alot of amish arround
yeah I know--
so smores you had strawberries for breakfast and I had zucchini
nice...would like to live in the country...
lol..that's funny mama
good day all--God Bless
you too puglet
I visited an Amish area a while back...very interesting
Bye Pug....enjoy your day and God Bless you as well :)
Don't think I've ever had zucchini for breakfast mama :)
well it was left over and easy. I am all about easy in the morning and I don't really like the "typical" breakfast foods
minutes
aagh sorry!!!!
When will I ever learn!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????????
lol...I still do it too
I never see it....
I ususally eat yogurt or fruit early in the morning, then fix a regular breakfast once my girls are up
ah. I have no children left at home :(
Only one today..my oldest stayed at a friends last night
please remind me how old
15 and 13
I still have about an hour or so before she wakes up
oh yes the tricky years, but they go so fast
Yes...to both
Their pretty good for the most part
my baby will be 20 and her sister is 25
ah...do they live close
THey were pretty good but it is amazing how they change when they leave home. I got so much smarter once they left LOL
LOL
Well my 20 year old is still in college a couple of hours away and she will be home for the summer
so there's hope for me still heh?
my older daughter lives down in DC but is going to head to law school at Wake Forest in NC in August, so even further away
Will she be staying with you for the summer?
you will become the smartest women they know eventually LOL
:) I remember calling my mom when I was 18 and apologizing
My older daughter is gainfully employed in DC. She and her boyfirend will try to visit for Memorial Day. and I empahsize TRY
Well. NC is a great place to visit in the winter :)
that is the positive way to look at it... :)
so now that the kids are gone I have filled the void with the puppies who this morning are ready to send me over the deep end
lol..just like the kids :)
You are right about that
what kind of puppies do you have?
Well expecting my hubby's son to visit today so guess I should get busy around this house.
Mutts
love the mutts :_
oops :)
beagle mix 11 months old and heinz 57 4 months old
me too, I have not had good luck with purebreds
ahh...vaguely remember 4mo old puppy problems
the beagle mix is very smart but very needy. They are both rescues
my dog turned 13 in Feb...so it's been awhile
yeah my last dog I remember coming home and finding my couch in the middle ot the living room floor!!!! THe puppy won that game of tug of war
My ex had a beagle when I met him...he was an annoying little thing
teehee... the dog and my ex
I hear you. We put our dog down a year and one half ago. Tried freedom for a while but then...
missed the four legged baby too much so...
too funny smores
He was a barker and very very hyper.
the ex or the puppy???
:)
lol...his dog
snoopy barks at other dogs but isn't horrible and she does not tend to be hypeer but can't get enough attention
He got it too train for hunting...ugh
Does she have the beagle bark?
i see, we are just in the pet business here
yeah...me too..not a fan of hunting
yes, the old howl when she gets going
lol...yep
Mamacita, you have landed in the right place. When I first started playing this game, I thought it was a word game for pet owners. People talk about their pets here a LOT.
well smores have a good day. I need to get productive.
Hey Molly :)
Excellent Molly, I can certainly entertain with some pet stories
Have a good day molly
Bye for now mama...enjoy your day :)
I have been talking so much I am only at 132 words
lol...I only have 131
I will, maybe catch you later
Good day to all
Guess I could be nice and go make some muffins, daughter will be waking up soon. Back in a bit.
Can't take any more v words. Am about to commit Babblecide!
Too bad Valium is only a phantom : D
It's calming effect might aid in the search for all the V words.
hello babblers
morning babblers :)
Hi Nono and TO
molly I agree a valium would help if only it were there
39 V words is rather startling : O
when i saw that I thought no way! amazingly i have 22 of them but....

{smores}
hi smore hi mimi
Hi, Nan!!
{mimi}
It's only 5:30 here...got up early because I fell asleep last night and didn't eat dinner and woke up famished. Having hot tea and bagels....yum.
Hi, TO!!
woohoo ... finally 1/2 way
many people slept better last night. i know i did
much more peacefully for sure
It was a stressful week in many ways. Just wanted it to go away.
wtg smores
still woke up at 3am though
I can't say enough about the Boston and surrounding area police departments. Well done.
{Molly} Yes, we do have some amazing law enforcement.
Molly, I couldn't agree with you more. That did a fantastic job. Hello everyone
yes..the crowd cheering them on as they departed was very touching
They
{Annie}
Hi Annie :)
Hi Annie
Hi Mimi and smores...Mimi, enjoy your bagel
I sat there praying the whole time that they would capture him without anyone else getting hurt
and hi nono, how is your shoulder?
They did a fantastic job of it
doing better Annie, I can drive now which is a big plus
They have what is all too often a thankless job. I know they were touched by the obvious show of appreciatin.
good morning all.

good morning all

hi wv

Hi Owl and peri

thanks Une and hi

in6/18 peri
hi :-)
ty NoNo
and smores
Yes, I hope he survives too Annie
ditto
for sure on that we need to know what was behind the whole thing. If he dies we will never know
It just baffles me what any of these people think they're going to accomplish through this kind of thing. All this one accomplished was throwing his life away. Not to mention all the people who either died or whose lives will never be the same. Has crazy become contagious?!!
They have so much hatred that senseless acts seem logical to them
"Crazy" thinks it is smarter than everyone else and that it's agenda supersedes the needs and rights of others.
This how the people in Israel love
Live* ---I better wake up
Tell me about it----I live in an apt. complex!
And you two can go wake up in the PB : P
*shuffles off
With me : D
*puts up a large pot of coffee*
I do not know how people can live in places like Israel. It is always a life surrounded by hate. We have our problems for sure but I'm thankful I live here.
Breakfast party in the PB!
lol..".puts fresh blueberry muffins in PB"
:)
BRB...killer kitty wants back in
He went straight to his food so I guess the birds got away :)
grrr...forgot Venus wasn't accepted
: O
why the :O Molly?
Cats killing birds. It's one of the reasons I am not a cat lover.
New made-up word: deslim -- to get fat.
Which will probably get me sent to the stockade here.
ahh...yeah I'm not fond of that part of their make-up either
Molly, I had two cats when I also had two lovebirds (grossly misnamed birds) and the cats would run away from them!
lol...nah Molly, you are more that entitled to your opinion about cat
my ats never brought me any birds. they did bring mice and voles.
of anything else for that matter
The stories about stepping in hairballs in the middle of the night is a close second. : O
never had a mouse until i was catless. they do do that
We used to have lovebirds Mimi...agree about the misname
but i think there have been studies esp in UK about cats catching birds
:) definately never have a problem with mice
I'm glad to have cats here because if a scorpion ever gets in the house the cats kill it immediately. They instinctively know to lob off the tail first even though cats are immune to scorpion venom.
hehe..I don't have to worry about them, but happy you don't either :)
They study cats catching birds...really
Totally off the subject---has anyone else in the "older" age category tried to find a job? Employers are getting around the law against asking age/birth date by asking what year you graduated from high school and that's legal...I called the EOC.
When applying online, any company that asks that question on the application never gets back to me.
Yes, I've had that too
*heard
can't type this moning
* morning ...lol....see
I have so many skills and so much experience plus can no longer get pregnant, have PMS, have to care for small children who get sick...my time is my own and am willing to work weekends, stay late....seems like a bargain to me....wake up employers!!
I know what ya mean
This is the first year in quite a long time I'm actually glad to be getting older....I get my first early retirement check on July 3....I really need it!
Oh, you took early retirement?
I didn't know...good for you
Yep---no choice--need the money. Besides, you don't actually lose any money by doing so, you just get less on a monthly basis. The amount you've accrued is still the same. Then when my ex turns 62 in another year and a half I can switch over to his rate which will at least double mine.
nice...so are you still wanting to find a job?
Oh, yes, still trying. I won't be getting much retirement money until I can switch over. But they only allow you to make $15,500 per year in addition to retirement money until age 65 and then you can earn as much as you want. Stupid, arbitrary rules.
Oh cool...I thought it was a lot less...that was why I asked
I decided a long time ago I was going to take early retirement money because no one knows how long they'll live so might as well get what you can while you can. Of course, if you live a really long time you just may run out---that's the difficulty.
so true
I've nearly died 3 times already and am a bit concerned God is going to leave me down here a really long time because he doesn't want me up there criticizing the way He's doing things....it's like he's saying "Leave her down there, I don't need the grief!"
silly :0
LOL
And with hot flashes, pregnancy, the monthly curse, etc...this is how I'm convinced God is NOT a woman!
phantom---avenue
I've always considered it a wondrous thing to be the sex that gets to bear the children.
Me, too, Molly but the wonder wear off really quickly when "the change" puts us through hormone hell.
Phantom: simulate.
good one
Am loving the double "l's" today also!
Speaking of cats, there's a type of cat in the grid today!
Okay, so I listed and found most the V's, still missing 4 ... va6,33 va6,27 va7,40 and ve 6/30
And also a bird reference! We're just on point today!

Glad I'm not a "hardcore" Babbler---I'm happy just to get the ones I can and leave it at that...such a Babble underachiever! Keeps it fun, though, for me.

That was MollyLs clue
Eek, Zoom beat me to my own clue : O
ty molly
Cool word. TY!
talking of which hahaha
thanks molls
ty Molls
just wrestling with the S tile there and look over and get a lovely clue
mully is a word -- it is what you take when you hit a really bad shot in a friendly game of golf
It is a simple sense organ
street smarts?
120 left, bll
I am struggling with 56 more to find.
It didn't make any SE**E to me at first, Ruru, but then I got it.
why do you have that picture for an icon, ruru?
thanks
just trying to get down to 100, then listing
was going the wrong direction as usual
bbl with g&t after laundry is done
It is really sad what the bombing suspect's parents are saying. The FBI told him they were afraid of him? Right.
ooh - and a ut 7-8
Bye Peri!
who was afraid of who? the FBI was afraid of the suspect?
but the uncle couldn't believe the charges .."he is such a hard working nice boy"
Yes, the parents are claiming the FBI told the suspect that they were afraid of him. I understand not wanting to think the worst about your kid, but come on.
the FBI told him his own parents were afraid of him you mean?
cause i can't see what would be objectionable about the FBI saying the FBI was afraid of him.
I don't find it objectionable. I find it far fetched.
oh. i mean, i think anybody would be afraid of someone who might or might not have more bombs that might kill more people. not that they felt that visceral personal fear but that they were afraid of what he would do.
I haven't seen th news. Did the take him al***?
yes ruby, but it sounds like he'd been bleeding from gunshot wounds all day, so he's currently in hospital in serious condition.
"get your news first o Basbble!"
I just find it a stretch that the FBI goes around telling people "We are afraid of you".
clue for li 6/24
ah - finally - 100
li6/24 rhymes with plural of st------/response
ty hurshy got it
The FBI was "afraid" of him because of the damage that he could potentially cause other people.
yes, that's what i was trying to suggest car
I give up
it's really too bad the second one wasn't killed in the shootout saving Boston a lengthy trial..
There is so much rumor and speculation still flying around. It is driving me nuts.
disagree, ruru - then they wouldn't be able to find out why they did it, whether anyone else was involved...
No! We need him al5! We need answers to why and if there are any more out there.
There could be other bombs that they planted "just in case" and others to set them off.
That is why I am not totally relaxed yet.
I could understand that Mass. has been through a lot this year already
I also really want to know why this kid turned. His brother seems to be the one who had the hatred, but nothing about his younger brother fits.
i dont think anyone will ever get the answer as to why the pos did this. just my opinion
My hubby had a picture last night showing the kid (and he really does just look like a kid) lying on the ground, handcuffed with the agents all around him.
shouldn't their issues be with Russia.. ? Why harm innocent people here after they've been living here
That is entirely possible Ivesy.
OK...I am off to the library. I ask that you all pray for Texas today and the tragedy that their community is going through. {{hugs}} to you all.
so molly did you just mean you didn't think the FBI SHOULD say they are afraid of a 19 year old, or that you doubt the parents' account that they DID so?
have fun at the libarry, one of my fave places
I think the father of the boys is a macho jerk.. that's just my opinion
me too ruru.
I meant that I don't believe FBI agents, or police officers, go around saying "We are afraid of you" to possible terrorists.
aha
i agree molly. i dont think they do either.
if they do, then they are in the wrong line of work
Exactly
...maybe sensitive FBI agents ?
:D
The parents are obviously lashing out, claiming their kids were framed, blah, blah, blah. It's the mean ole USA's fault.
yeah.. that scholarship made him a bad person
Molly I agree, good coverage right now on CNN
when they are getting all the perks of living here, then everyhing is ok.. but now its the usa's fault
on a different note - this is a tough grid.
am so sick of people coming to this country , getting all the freaking help they want and citizens are struggling to eat, and pay their bills. something is seriously wrong
very tough i just passed the half way mark and am thinking of listing
and yes it is a tough grid lol
i don't think that a parent not wanting to believe their child would commit an atrocity is so strange.
it's this little human thing called "denial"
was playing a word game on fb.. going great. then i hit the wrong button.... ahhhhhh.. chit
i dont know hursy, i dont deny what my son did/does, even though it hurts
many people do, though. esp if it's NOT in character.
prob. afraid they will be blamed
yeah but forgetting to call and killing 4 people are pretty different animals
I never said I thought what the parents were doing was strange. I just took issue with the idea that FBI agents would tell someone they are afraid of him. Loved ones are often in denial about such things.
can someone clue the 2 i words first column?
I'm stuck so I might as well add my mi-- worth: This is the parents reporting? And the media interpreting? Don't trust either. Like the old whispering game: when the phrase gets round, it's lost its meaning. Say, in talking about why they have to use certain tactics, need information, must prepare to kill the bomber, it's a fake-polite formality: "We're afraid we have to ...." or more directly. "Yes, we're afraid of what he could do if he's not caught quickly; he's out of control."
ix4 and 5
ix 4 9 and ix 5 20
flowers, i think mary. was surprised when i found some babblets at lowe's the other day!
good point jwr
good point jwr
Well, it was a direct quote from the mother...In her interview with Russia Today, Tsarnaeva suggested FBI officers had visited her home when she still lived in the United States and told her that Tamerlan "was really an extremist leader and that they were afraid of him."
does she speak english
ty jmb & leslie
I can't vouch for the reporting source.
not really direct, the mother quoting the fbi agents, and are ivesy points out, possibly through a translator
The mother is a convicted shoplifter. So they said on TV.
It really sounds like a second-language misuse of words.
start putting hammer down on who gets in this country.. is it easy to get in other countries. i dont know bcuz i have never left state. .
She is said to have stolen $1600. worth of clothing from Lord and Taylor in Boston
well at least she picked a nice store lol
Well, at least we know he's too young to have been that Other guy on the "grassy knoll."
yes, she sure did.
ivesy, these boys came to the u.s. when they were children. and it's not just "outsiders" who kill people
Whoo, sorry I brought this up. Three cheers for the Mom! Everything she said is A-okay.
The family entered this country as political asylum refugees. They get all benefits immediately, they were getting an education but the hatred is so strong they really don't give a damn about people in this country even tho the younger brother was a citizen.
Off to sleep -- it's been a long worknight. Things like terrorist attacks tend to overexcite the kind of people who call crisis lines. Bye, all.
this grid is beginning to drive me in6 (maybe that's a putt) - bbl
Yes Annie. I agree with you and Ivesy.
oh my jwr you are working crisis lines?
16 years
like 911 or suicide lines or what?
not saying that it is all outsiders. but at this time , with all the terrorist from other countries. mb its time to concentrate on us and stop giving them a free ride.
no you don't, and neither do i. his uncle is the same kind of immigrant and said he's ashamed of him. adam lanza was a "regular" american and in my mind what he did was worse. these sweeping characterizations...
ty for that point annie, i didnt know that.
(that "no you don't" was to molly)
hi all
shutting up now.
hi jmc, we are solving the world's problems today
hi jmc enter at your own risk!
Yeah, actually I do agree with Annie and Ivesy. (Joining Ivesy in the shut up corner)
*zips lips*
tough grid and tough chog.
one more thing.. i will never accept the fact that people come into this country and get a free ride. while seniors and such struggle to survive. now i am shutting up
*carefully hides cape*
I am also joining Molly and ives in the "shut up" corner
:) molly
well i don't. but i believe people SHOULD be able to discuss these things civilly and still get along, so i am not a fan of this "shut up" corner.
:) annie
Last comment -- Ivesy, don't get carried away with the plurals. If you do that, you have to generalize about all the others, Americans included, Southerners, Republicans, Democrats, the "quiet" kids ... it's a slippery slope.
*thumbs up to jwr*
i gets into trouble all the time hursh in my noncyber life. . .i tries to keep it to a minimum here
indeed, hursh... this is the only place i've discussed any of this with since it is a group of smart, caring people. wouldn't even try to venture into discussions on fb etc.
I have seen peoples using up their savings and going on welfare to take care of their medical ne4s but the political aslyum refugees get every single benefit denied to people who paid taxes almost all their lives. Now I will shut up.
ty - and I agree there should never be a shut-up corner, except maybe when your mouth is stuffed with Linzer torte in the PB.
if we never discuss the things we disagree on, how will we ever get anywhere as a society?
Really, poof.
*people (No ess)
:) annie
Good morning all!!
*Applauds Annie's comment from the corner*
I think there is a "I wish he'd shut up corner somewhere here"
well you do have a point there hursh and that is part of the point of my organization. . .to help us get out of the silos of information and misinformation
so does ivesy
hey jilly
annie - i can understand that that might be unfair and frustrating - but the solution seems to me to be to rethink our policies about who gets what benefits, not to blame the foreign immigrants themselves.
on applauding annies comment
I have seen citizens exploit the system everywhich way from sunday too. . .
amen
are you taking nominations, ru? ;)
I am NOT blaming the immigrants. I am saying the system is unfair.
and i have seen immigrants who have worked their butts off with 3 or 4 jobs at below minimum wage. . .
well.. likely it would first be me. :D
yes, jmc, that is true
i agree the system is unfair. . . immigrants are required to pay taxes too and get fewer and fewer benefits. . .
Several of my FB friend posted quaisi anti-muslim posts. Like "All muslims are not terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslim." We seem to forget history...
I got that point Annie.
im not an immigrant and i work my ass off at a minimum wage job to survive..
Agree with your comments Annie, but there are a lot of "Americans" who abuse the system for freebies that we workers pay for.
i wouldn't qualify that with quasi, jilly
not to mention my friend who was a citizen trying to get a green card for her son who was on a 15 year waiting list. . . he died before it was over
uh. . . so the guys in oklahoma were muslims? I didn't know that. . . ;-)
nobody abuses our money like the government and banks do
thats the real issue
and Wall Street
seems to me anyways
the increase in economic inequality has more to do with tax and regulation policies skewed toward the super-wealthy than with immigrants.
well it is very cold here today. .....how about where you are mollie, annie?
Not to mention the Crusades jmc!
everybody working minimum wage jobs, immigrant or native, is a victim of that.
there was an interesting discussion before the bombers were ID'd on word choice in "terror/terrorism." what constitutes a terrorist?
oops mollyl
well you are all welcome to help me resolve the issue of campaign finance reform so I can move on to other issues of process!
extremely windy here, in the fifties
do they have to be foreign? do they have to hate america? or do they just have to kill?
same here Annie
only in 30 here and windy
jmc, you haven't fixed that yet?
onlevel.org *shameless self-promotion*
indeed, leslie - esp with people suggesting that they shouldn't read him his rights yesterday. seems to me you could easily qualify adam lanza as a terrorist - only nobody did.
Wait a minute. NO ONE here said McVeigh was a muslim.
thursday it was in the 80's
any help on the al 6.24 last one
45 here and partly cloudy
see jilly at 10:47 molls. . . she was quoting

hi trader. doesnt sound fun
never mind
so i got stranded without my cell phone for 2 days in rural VA this week. . .
hi ivesy :) not very pleasant for april 20th (or even march 20th , for that matter)
Oh, Facebook stuff, missed it.

hi crossy
heyo crossy
crossy!! are you warm and dry?
so i gave them the phone at my sisters "cabin" where i was staying and waited for them to cal but then the storm started moving in and i didn't want to get stuck up a dirt road on a mountain. . .the same one i nearly got stuck on with ice on news years eve
lunch beckons, bye
not warm.is 22 degrees colder than yesterday and snowing lol
april16 is always fun too with panicked clients calling about extensions a day too late
so i call them and they said we called and called and you never answered so something else to deal with. . .
Hmmm stuck on the au5...what am I not seeing?
some high water advisories from all that rain and mild weather before that
we are getting a mixed bag weather wise
bye annie :) pooor jmc, you've had a very rough week. i will see if there's anything good in the PB to munch on
nm
i drove home finally with the news bulletins about boston getting interuppted by the news bulletins about violent storms and tonardo watches. . .fun drive
i have to go there anyway from earlier things i said trader. . .
bye annie
the weather network showed some raging rivers your way with dire warnings about staying away ..
if you don't mind language, there was a very appropriate story in the onion this week... hold please
we're more than 22 degrees colder. It's now 54.

i do not rivit myself the the news non stop ,leslie
how are you doing, kap?
I have major PTSD. They did, he was a kid that was known to various peers.
i have close bostonian ties as my hubby's mother grew up on beacon hill, his greatgrandfather was the youngest governor of mass. and we spent a month on beacon hill while hubby was at mass general
I am doing sucky, thank you.
oh geez kap
it was riviting news yesterday for sure
I was on shelter-in-place restriction.
i confess it all brought back washington dc on 9/11 and the anthrax and the sniper to me. . .
anyways, aside the jokers,i am glad they caught him, kaplan
is it a nice day outside today kap?
I did go for a walk eventually an the bars were full.
i bet everyone had cabin fever by then
No, it's cloudy. Yesterday was warm and windy.
sorry crossy i thought that you were joking. here it is all i've heard about for days from all forms of communication
Help for last Li7,28 please???
Well, I admit to being glued to TV yesterday. Comes from having family and friends in the shelter area.
ty for the link leslieann. i needed that .love the closing ;)
i would go see a lighthearted movie myself kap
i watch the news once a day, leslie,i do not wade in it.it is bad for the soul.:)) (((to boston)) ((kaplan))
the whole thing sucks and I am sick of all the hatred. I feel sorry for this generation of young men. When gertrude stein told Hemingway "you are all a lost generation" she hadn't seen nothing yet.
it is not linseed erda, lol
or maybe 42. . .about overcoming the hatred. . .
you are probably right, crossy
My daughter was watching Astaire and ROgers movies and that was probably the heathiest thing to do last night.
sick of all the hatred... that is a very good way to put it kap
Offto the PB, Kate.
really?
duck soup or animal crackers would have been my choice. . .or maybe the princess bride. . . you can't go wrong with the princess bride
votes for the princess bride :)
sounds like your daughter chose the perfect way to cope and deal with it all.kap
Lins**d. Sorry. Anything good in the PB?
yeah! princess bride!
It was nice to see Astaire and Rogers dance the Picolino.
i wowed and amazed a 20 something know all about andre the giant has a possee
sorry , i will see if there are any crumbs left over from yesterday... though i didn't realize lin**** was going to get me in trouble ;)
i started reading regency romance novels when i was dealing with my hubby. . . almost always have happy endings. . .
I think many people followed the news closely yesterday. It was unprecedented stuff for this country.
who you calling a 20-something?
i don't get it. . . .trader. . . i can't get that to work
indeed, molly. it seemed more like a movie set than real life
The written law says you can't use a word inside of a word.
haha leslie!. . .he was just amazed that an old lady like me knew all about andre the giant. . .
ah. . .thank you for that clarification kap
i am not dissing anyone who did of course, molly,i find is do not miss anything anyways,it is all still there for me to read/watch and mostly with all the second by second guesswork removed by then
jmc - it is not in the grid... i was being cheeky
People keep saying that about movies and real life, but it wasn;t at all like Astaire and Rogers dancing.
ohh i see, i read your comment wrong. princess bride is a classic!
any votes for the only "chick moveis" i like? bridget jones 1&2) and notting hill?
a cheeky lot. . . my hubby used to say i had chipmunk cheeks. . .
notting hill is okay . . . i was not wowed by bridget jones
By the Adriatic waters Venetian sons and daughters Are strumming a new tune upon their guitars. It was written by a Latin, a gondolier who sat in His home out in Brooklyn and gazed at the stars. He sent his melody across the sea to Italy, And we know they wrote some words to fit that catchy bit And christened it the Piccolino. And we know that it's the reason why Ev'ryone this season is strumming and humming a new melody. Come to the Casino and hear them play the Piccolino. Dance with your bambino to the strains of the catchy Piccolino. Drink your glass of Vino, and when you've had your plate of Scallopino, Make them play the Piccolino, the catchy Piccolino. And dance to the strains of that new melody, the Piccolino.
I don't get it. 20 somethings were babies when Andre the Giant was in his prime.
four weddings and a funeral is better. . .
i was thinking that. if anything, jmc should have been surprised the young one knew of it
i remember watching andre when him and hogan were in the top of their game
I've never understood the popularity of the Bridget Jones movies.
because of the graffiti molls. . . and shepard fairy
and the further graffiti of Obey and the Obama. . .very in. . .
<---Has no clue what JMC is on about
well you just proved my point molls. . . most 20 somethings would know what i was talking about! hahaha
okay i am off to eat lunch and to figure out why my sister is not answering her phone.. .bbl
And what does that have to do with 20 somethings who were babies when Andre was popular??
i think she was on bridget jones this time
Oy
oh wait no i figured it out. i speak fluent jmc now. http://tinyurl.com/3uog9j
thanks leslie!
i will add it to my linkedin
languages: English, JMC

we're expecting *gag* more snow - i'm on my way to your house!
It was snowing here this morning. Very cold day.

Hi SG. I haven't seen you in a while. Doing ok?
Okay, bbs...have handwash to finish...
always considered them a garbage fish welki and have never had any
congrats, zooz
I have been, Scrabs..been a beautiful warm day..done lots of gardening :-)
but you'll eat lobster :) (cow's tongue! no way! i ain't eating anything that comes out of a cow's mouth - gimme a couple of scrambled eggs!) LOL)
now,i can do you a speckled trout shore lunch that will bring a tear of joy to yer eye
I am so sleepy, but am not a napper. Whenever I nap I awake with a migraine.
loves lobster.no i do not care for cow tongues
*pulls up a log and waits for crossy's shore lunch*
scrabs? have you ever been tested for sleep apnea? just a thought
No meat, fish or seafood for me. I cannot eat animals.
I did not sleep enough last night. I was revved up from watching the Boston manhunt, and I was on call. I am on call til MOnday at 8am.
was wondering if the napping/migraines might be associated with apnea
I was tested for sleep apnea 6 yrs ago--mild issues only.
would have been an easy fix
I sleep well typically, if given enough time.
if you can get your hands on a cpap machine and mask, maybe give it a shot during naptime - could be you have more serious apnea during daytime sleep
(especially if your sleep position is different than your nighttime posture)
I do have a CPAP machine but haven't us4 it since last summer. Laziness, I guess, and I am not sure I really need it.
haul it out and give it a try when napping - you might wake up happy and pain free
I need to get new tubing and mask.
uhm - yeah, so? LOL
I plan to go to the shop for new equipment.
i have apnea/no migraines
crossy needs new tubing and mask also
but you're also on cpap
I started having migraines after a head injury 32 yrs ago.
i also do not care for the machine
And I continued to have migraines when using CPAP.
i'm not saying that there's a correlation between scrab's apnea and her daytime nap-related migraines, just that it's worth a shot to try the cpap when napping
i can't sleep without mine - or won't. haven't missed a night since i started, even while in hospital and camping
it is.i know we are better for using the machines, but heck they are so hard to wear!
then you need to find a better machine and/or mask - takes some time, patience and variety to find the right match
My brain is exquisitely sensitive to altered sleep patterns. I cannot stay up late and sleep in late. I awake with a migraine. I also must eat every 3 hrs or so. Low blood sugar triggers a migraine.
my husband was a snorer, too - ohhh, how he snored. now we look like mr. and mrs. snuffleupagus at bedtime :)
Hahaha
i have a 1000 dollar machine.my proble arises because i cannot use the nasal insert due to nose/sinus issues but have to use a full mask
and ole crossy can snore the paint off the bedroom walls hehe
how about just a nasal mask that covers only your nose? (like the resmed ultra mirage)
cannot use nasal mask see below
I like the nasal pads best.
wish i could
of course if i lost 50 pounds the apnea would ease a bit i am sure
you said 'nasal insert' which i translated to nasal pillows (like i use) - i'm talking about something that doesn't go into your nares at all, but covers your nose - you can breathe out of one or two nostrils with nothing in there to bother you
unless what you're saying is that your nose is completely and totally stuffed up - then yeah, i guess you need either a full face or mouth mask
yup,total stufface whn sleeping
You just need to be intubated and sedated, crossy. Haha.
lol,scrabby wife says same
you know, there's a mask called liberty hybrid that someone's modified for mouth only breathers - let me find the link
sadly i react badly to anastetic as well, stopped breathing last operation and woke up in the revoery room with o2/sat alarms going off and the nurse telling me to breathe
and i'd bet that there are mouth/only masks somewhere
Crossy, you need a personal anesthesiologist.
there we go:)
sadly i do not think my provincial health care card will cover that
aha! fisher paykel makes a mask called oracle - mouth only, no nasal involvement! http://tinyurl.com/cg7m6d3
would be nice though.knock me out at 11 pm,sit there all night watching the gauges and wake me up right at 8 am the next day
will look, welki.paykel is the brand of my machine also
the oracle mask is about $80 on cpap.com
that linbk is for nasal mask
i think they charge about fifteen bucks to ship to canada - but there's an ontario online cpap provider too you can order from, just google or if you can't find it, you know how to find me :)
Clue for i, 3rd column?
but ty for site link.i will explore the options
here's the direct link, crossy - looking at it, i see a mouthpiece mask only - here's hoping i don't screw up the chat: http://www.fphcare.ca/products/\noracle-oral-mask/
in6 crazy
And clues for 8's and 9's?
take out the \n
TY, K. And I already had sa4.
ca + plural of one of the jersey boys, frankie ****ee
heros vs vi8
se8/9...starts with what we have 5 of - a vowel, then ends in an itallian house - a v
That is my only 8, Dan. TY.
ty,welki.see the mask now.it is a good option for me i think
se9 = common se**e + short word for sick + intestine, ile**
gotta love the internet, cross :)
sense
just never occured to me that there may be a oral only mask option
now we can return the chog to it originally schedualled programming
From those clues I figured out se8 only.
Crossy....there are so very many options these days and sleep apnea can be so deadly...you gotta check into it!
plural, scrab
oops, not plural
se9, change ending to latin singular
oh,i know it,jilly.my apnea i stop breathing 40-80 times a nigh and my rist of heart attack or stroke is 505 higher than the norm
risk

Different clue for ca8, please? Frankie Valli isn't doing it for me.
did you see mine, scrab?
I did get se9, but if there is a ca8 or 9 I need a different clue.
the se8 is the latin plural
oh, nm... ca... sorry
scrabbler- to take a ca******R attitude.then change r to another consonant
it's a nine
ca + opposite of mountains, misspelled
this se 9 is a total mystery to me:( must have concentration issues today.too much blood in my alcohol system this month
ca + lily of the ******* (Plural)
Well, none of these are working for me yet...
ty for that one GE.first one i have gotten in ten minutes
crossy, it starts off like the se5/10, drop the end vowel then add King Kong go*****
fw
I missed lots of a's before listing
I finally got it. Frankie's last name is Valli, plural of valley is valleys, and cavalier has one L.
thus the misspelled portion, scrab
WooT WooT WooT kje
So your clue made sense finally.
Hi All
this grid is nsaty:(((

Good wolf, good wolf!!

Crossy has a sexy new wolf for his FB icon.
Who's that I see walking in these woods? Why it's Little Red Riding Hood. Hey there Little Red Riding Hood. You sure are lookin' good, You're everything a big bad wolf could want. Listen to me! Little Red Riding Hood, I don't think little big girls should. Go walking' in these spooky old woods alone. What big eyes you have, The kind of eyes that drive wolves mad. So just to see that you don't get chased, I think I ought to walk with you for a way. What full lips you have. They're sure to lure someone bad. So until you get to Gramma's place, I think you ought to walk with me and be safe. I'm gonna keep my sheep suit on, 'Til I'm sure you've been shown, That I cam be trusted walkin' with you alone. (Howl!) Little Red Riding Hood, I'd like to hold you if I could. But you might think I'm a big bad wolf, so I won't. What a big heart I have, The Better to love you with. Little Red Riding Hood, Even big bad wolves can be good. I'll try to keep satisfied, Just to walk by you're side. Maybe you'll see things my way, Before we get to Gramma's place. Hey there Little Red Riding Hood. You sure are lookin' good, You're everything a big bad wolf could want. Little Red Riding Hood. You sure are lookin' good, You're everything a big bad wolf could want. Little Red Riding Hood. You sure are lookin' good, You're everything a big bad wolf could want.
bad wolf. bad wolf.

Fresh air is great if you aren't allergic to EVEERYTHING. I am taking refuge for the next couple of months
I count my blessings that I don't have allergies. I am a much happier person when I am outside more than inside.
i am really suffering them today. and i really have to mow the lawn.

I think that is probably true for everyone, but even with all the meds i can take it doesn't eliminate all the symtoms. just makes them a little easier to tolerate.

I started babbling at se5/16 this morning.I have made a large de /5 in this grid, but I won't sa 4/7 the last word since I will never finish grid. Now here is a story of clues for those who ne 4/5 it. It ai4/4 me when people come to the U.S. to take advantage of our freedom and then terrorize us because of our freedoms. I was completely shocked to learn about what happened when I tu 5/14 into the news on Monday. Two in 6/18 people de 6/30d a plan to ruin Boston. They weren't succe 4/5ful in their terrorist plot. Then they tried to escape to no av5/16.Ev 4/7 though one of them tried to hide away in a boat,he was found by the cops. How can people do something so ev4/7?I hope they goto hell for their si4/4!The ev5/16s in Boston have us fearing for our li5/16. However, I will not be a sl5/16 to terrorists.I refuse to li4/7 in fear. So far, I have li 5/18 this long without fear,I am not about to start now. The U.S. does not have very many al6/18. Many countries don't like us. But I hope there will be no more eve4/7s like this one. Husband ne 5/12 to use the computer. I'm going to go sa 5/12 some vegetables for dinner. I've sa5/18 my story in my profile for later use.I hope you've us4/6 this story and se4/4 more words with this story. I'll be back in 45 more mi 6/24 to clue more.

Oh, that goat. Thought it was a llama.
Greetings from Boston.
You've heard of Boston?
Hey Kap :)

Yep- I was shelter-in-place yesterday.

PTSD land.
So sorry for all that has gone on there, Kap. Such a tragedy.
can't remember Ru - think when kje was around - you didn't answer (obviously)
I border on Cambridge.
I hope Boston slept a little better last night
On one hand, it was a local tragedy, on the other, well, i's one world weshare.
ah..
There was a lot ofalcohol sold yesterday.
again, is that Nancyboy in your avatar?
It can happen anywhere now - and does. Sad
2nd te5 oks
Kap, turns out Nancyboy was a fake poster...hence the comment about fakes.
it is the fake nancyboy, kap
nancyboy is not a real person
Are you kidding me?
or was not a real person
not really kaplan.. it's the avatar the phony used creating nancyboy
Whaaat?
Not so much NancyBoy as a popular japanese actor
guess you missed the discussion about this earlier this year.
Was there a real Nancyboy?
no
nope
WE ALL MOTHERED AND GRIEVED A TROLL?

AYFKM?????????
Whaaaaat???????
Turns out Nancyboy was a fake persona developed by someone or a group of people who like to cause trouble here.
Can you decode AYFKM?
Yep
Soon you will be telling me I am a fake.
They must have been laughing thei butts off at us!

So do I!!
those are the types of things that follow you home uusue, take care
probably won't be resolved until after my term is over (June 30) unless I can't hire another chair, which is also happening now

I just made it up now and thank you lynxx
After 7:30 here and I am wineless...Must remedy that!

I've been wineless for days
Good Evening Everyone. My sister is visiting from Missoula, MT and leaving early tomorrow AM. I haven't been on much this past week. How is everyone doing?
hi nef!
ruru; why do you have NB's icon picture up?
(((suze))
hi nef
what's going on, sue?
No sugar, no wine...are you getting in shape for your double date next week? : D
hi ruru
LOL
we're plodding along, nef, the chemo is starting to get to Frank, and I'm a little stressed out about everything
I'm trying to be svelte
Nef, if you ask that question, you better sit down for the answer.
I'm sure rumors will start that you're getting a hair weave. : P
I can't believe someone did that. Hi Sue, I am so sorry about the stress.
I am finally going to Israel in May.
LOL
awesome, kap! Where are you going?
First we are going to Italy t use my inlaws frequent flyer miles that they can' use, and then Ihave to finally go see them in Nof Yam. But I hope to visit other places, or it will be just like visiting my inlaws. Only.
There are old family friends in Haifa. I havent been there since 1978.
How did we find out aout Nancyboy?
how can there POSSIBLY be 26 MORE S words to find?
(((Sue))) I'm sorry. Remember to take time to care for yourself too. Nothing is as important as taking care of yourself.
hi, dan :-)
hi uu! how's by you?
ok, dan. Miss2bit is looking very cute!
ty!
After all we have just been through in Boston, the NB scandal puts me over the edge.
That is a long story Kap. Several people suspected he was fake for a long time. Then I did a search on his picture and found out it was really a Japanese singer, Jun Matsumoto.
he(they) fooled us all for a while
MollyL, Girl Detective.
Sadly, people fake it on the internet a lot.
Ok, I must tell you. I am a fake.
Yeah, I'm a French model...
I am Cher.
good.i want some nice 8x10 glossies please;)
not cher,the french model
It's not the first time I have seen people develop a fake persona on the internet.
if cher has one more faclift her chin is going to be in the middle of her forehead lol
Hi Crossy. I made the miracle custard pie and we're down to the last slice. My husband wants another one right away but I'm going to wait awhile and try the coconut variety. Thank you for the recipe.
I am really not who I say I am. NB thought I was a guy, and we had the same sense of humor. Now I find that the person with whom I had rapport was not a person.
What does that say about me?
I have enough of a problem running my one life. Can't do multiple personas.
sounds good, gmere!
lol.glad you all enjoyed it,stidmewre
LOL mere
This is true. This is the first time I have laughed in weeks.
Well, the football player who thought he was going with a really pretty girl and found it was all a fake.
uh.. probably the same people :D
I don't know what everyone is talking about NB for. When fur first posted he was a fraud; I looked up NB's "member since" date because I still have him listed in "My Friends" list. He joined Babble back in April of 2007, and I've chatted with him for many years. I find that ruru joined August 4th, 2007. I do think it's interesting that NB's profile picture has changed since the last time we spoke of this though.....
UU sounds like the days are ganging up on you and not letting you take each day at a time. This last week was pretty much like that for the whole nation.
ok that's the 4th time I've typed asylum
I am two dogs and a cat on that "other" site... but I'm not the only one being a dog or cat, sooooo - I don't feel too bad.
Huh, Nef. Interesting.
you are right, gmere
Nef, are you saying that you still believe Nancyboy was a real person?
Orginally?
anyway I am going to go lie down again for a while, see you all later!
Oh. I think I'm going to warm up left-overs for dinner. Yesterday I had a big bottle of Dr. Pepper and the caffeine did not allow for good rest last night so I'm not in top form (my form is never really exemplary.)
i'm not following that nef?
I am so confused. Time for an ambien.
vi6/30?
nor am i
Was it an actor that NB liked?
LOL kaplan
crossy is just a wolf in wolf's clothing whatever the iste
Perhaps?
I definitely think that NB was "originally" a real person. I think that I noticed some changes along the line when he broke up (supposedly) with his partner "Leo."
This is why it is interesting to meet Babblers in real life. I'm bringing a pound of bacon for Crossy and one for the wolf.
brings some of those good drugs my way as well ,kaplan.no booze in my place at the moment, cupboard is dryer than a popcorn fart;((
Like his bf was writing for him?
I have a bridge I'd like you to look at Nef to consider buying it
you are welcome anytime stidmere
No Kap, all those pictures of Matsumoto were pictures NB claimed were him. As well as some drawings of Matsumoto that were supposedly drawn by a friend of his. I don't think he was ever real. I'm not sure why Nef does.
Who lives near me in Boston?
And then when that guy who was (supposedly) Boy George came along; I definitely wasn't chatting with the same NB that I'd known for so long
Huh.
Car and Trif live about 30 miles out. Wht lives closer than that.
i am too far from you kaplan or i would bring some vodka over
Ambien works better for me. But Ithink the liquor stores in Boston are all old out.

take care, Kaplin. I hope you can sleep well tonight.
TY, Molly.
tc kaplan
(((((((((((((())))))))))))))))))))))))\nthose are real.
And I think that's the person I was thinking about Molly. What do you think of him? I thought He was a fake.
i tried reality last week.did not work for me:)
Nef, I'm not sure how much of the Nancyboy conversation you were around for, but it was made pretty clear that he was a fake. Always a fake. It's likely that the person claiming to be Julian Clary was a fake as well.
REality isn't all it is cracked up to be.
Good night all. Be the best you can be. Whoever you are. It isn't nice to try to fool people.
There are a lot of telltale signs of internet imposters. People think they are "getting away with it" but once you know what to look for, it's fairly easy to spot them.
Husspuppies for dinner!
i am the real me,stidmere so bring lots of bacon when you come
hush
detective molly:)
Nope, I just hang out with someone who does computer forensics and he's taught me a lot.
cool.am i real?
like I said; I find it interesting that NB's icon picture is different now than it was in the past. I don't know what NB conversation you're talking about, Molly; but I do know that things changed along the way.
LOL! Am I real too, then?
If I'm not real, my husband is going to be sorely disappointed.
All it takes to change the icon is for the person faking it to log in and change it.
Good morning / evening everyone :)
howdy liz
It's the hostess with the mostess!
my wife will be overjoyed, she will not have me snoring beside her
Hi liz!
Nothing else planned for a LONG time I hope!!!!
It's lovely having guests but it's lovely to have time to ourselves again!
My daughter just sent a text. They are eating at Red Lobster. Five year old grandson, who is just learning to read said, "Seafood spelled backwards is doofus.:
LOL!!!
hehe
heeheehee! that's so cute!
My sister leaves tomorrow AM (I need to get her to the airport by 5:30 AM!); and though I love having her visit; I'm glad she's leaving too.
Adoreable, Bzzn! :-)
it is good to get your own household back
I know, nef. My daughter from KS was visiting last week. Loved the time with her but love my "normal" life.
very true
And I miss my daughters terribly.
Sure is. This last guest was a lifelong friend - she met my mum, when they were 18! She's 88 and is as sharp as she was when when I knew her in London 30 or so years ago!
love the ole gaffers and gammers when they are sharp as a tack like that
Last night my sister went to bed by 8 AM. I got up at 6 AM; stumbeld around doing my "usual" AM chores: feeding cat and dog; giving them fresh water, etc. and I looked at the family rm chairs (which were empty) so went and got dressed thinking I'd gotten up before her. Came back out and was thoroughly startled to find her curled up on the love seat laughing at me!
These V's are murder!
I have 5 more to find. Just listed with 75 words left!
LOL...gotta love sisters...hello nef et all
(She'd been up for an hour already she said; playing on her iPad)
lol, nef, she was down load 300 gig of her favorite shows using your wifi:)) i know my brother would hehe
hi Jilly. This is one of my younger sisters from MSLA. She's heading to Lafayette LA.
matters not now however, the internet monopoly here is finally offerning unlimited data
who knows, cross? I just know it's not nice to laugh at the hostess when she'

True dat!

Yay Lizlin!
Lots of v's - but not as bad as I'd thought!
Thanks for inspiring me to finish the last few v's, Bea :)
Aw..our welcome.

I had been avoiding them!
*waves to doren*
Where is Doren? Are you seeing things, ru?
Ru peeks in at Lurkerville
Ah...
Then he will see I am always "lurking" as I never log out.
Sickened by the number of scammers "raising money" for Boston!
I expected that. It happened after September 11th too.
Me too - it always happens - but sickened again and every time!
wow. just came online (was doing other stuff with amazon, etc) and see this. so now we know that one might be doing something else and appear to be online. ... hello everyone
Hi Dorens :)
Hey.
Hi herin :)
<---not really here either
My son in cambridge called this afternoon. he is disgusted and fed up with the news and refuses to turn on the tv or look at a newspaper for the next two days.
oh, nice icon ru
I went out and got happy last night. One of our guests is from DC. He was wearing his Boston cap and Boston Umass Top
did everyone try cialis ? no double entendre intended
hey all
hi stid.... how goes it?
it goes, doren -- you?
your family all okay
same here...
Hi stid :)
hey liz. :-)
Pounce on Stid
yes they are, thankfully. just tired of the stress. it was tough.
*sprays water on lady* *grin*
How you all going?
glad they weren't hurt. It must have been very trying.
david went out walking the other night cause he was stir crazy and he and a friend ended up on the block where a controlled detonation was happening, cause they thought there may have been explosives there.
Dorens is this to do with Mondays horrible event?
yah. one of my sons wasn't far from where these brothers lived.
I got my guitars back today -- one of them still smells pretty bad, but it's playable and I can continue to work on it to get it less stinky. The other was my mother's as a young woman and it was well protected (not hanging on the wall like my main guitar) so it's a good one to have bac.
C's clobbered & D's downed
go dan go!
and i heard it was on norfolk st. which is the cross street from where jeremy and family lived. i'm glad you have them stid. the smell will dissipate, yes?
Love the pic of the no-longer-baby 2bit!
BBL - enjoy your evenings (day for herin!) :)
yes, she is just adorable dan
Liz have to go shopping
Lovely pic, Dan :)
later liz -- have a wonderful rest of the weekend
Hello ((stiddy))
nite liz
the smell will dissipate a little more over time, but it's not likely to get completely better unless I have it put in the ozone machine, and I don't think I can afford a second run.
hello jilly
can you rub it with a nice smelling oil?
Hi there y'all.
hi peach
hey peach
Hello ga!
Stid depending on the wood you could rub it with Bees Wax.
no doren, not a musical instrument. oil would oxidize and be nasty in very short time
ewww, not one of my better ideas then
and wax wouldn't fix the smell, either, I am afraid. The toxins from the house pretty well saturated any exposed wood.
O poo
May I please have a clue for al7-32? Thanks
the choices I have are to continue to air it out (which I am doing) or pay to have ozone treatment, which right now I am trying to save as much of the money for contents replacement as I can for the things we will need when we have a home again.
everything+what you sow in the garden
then pl for 8
ty jilly. wouldn't have guessed those
wow I just put on my glasses and suddenly no longer blurry screen
LOL....good thought herin...when all else fails...
Thanks so much, Jillyjill.
wow. nice clue hilly!
dumb spellcheck... J illy!!!
I don't like this this means I am getting old. The screen is 50"
hey babblers
hey there welki
Oh stiddy, I've been called worse. BTW, have a few guitar experts; I will ask them if they have any advice...
Hi Welki
108 left...This may be the first grid Ihave not finished in a long time.
Hi welki
Hi there, welki.
Well, have some tasks to get done before we head out tomorrow...better get 'em done...
sitd? did they refinish the glaze on the outside of the guitar?
I had it in to an expert for fixing up, jilly --- thanks. His best advice is to air it out, keep it where it doesn't get wet and play it. :-) I can spray febreeze occasionally if I need to temporarily keep the odor down, but it's "in there" now
I saw my sister yesterday for the first time in 2 years and it was awesome
no, we didn't refinish the guitar, it's not worth that amount of work. It's only a $600 instrument, but more than I can afford to replace right now.
nice, lady!!! :-D
Nice, lady.
Hello everyone
hey lynxxx!
hi lyn
Hey there, lynxxx!
maybe try some odor sponges on the inside (they'll shrivel up when they're spent) and a nice polish on the outside - and for sure keep airing it out
The last time I saw her she was playing football for the Army and then she was deployed to Afghanistan and then left the army.
Stid - Bi carb of soda in a stocking in the well of the guitar
a couple squirts of febreeze won't hurt if the smell is bothering you a lot on any given day
Have you seen this site Stid http://www.woodmenders.com/removing-sm\noke-smell-furniture
baking soda's a good idea, too - but hard to shake out
there's a thought. I have to get the soda, and a stocking...
even charcoal briquets will absorb odor
less the \n of course!
Put it in a stocking like a knee high one and tie it off. I would maybe do a couple of them depending on the size of the guitar
herin - good news on your reunion with your sister :)
unfortunatly the inside of the guitar is unfinished and will have absorbed a lot of the smell. it will just take time
wow. that is very good news herin.
here, i have to put humidifying sponges in mine
And then to top it off I got to see a very old friend last night for the first time in 8 years
the dry air has played havoc on them over the years :(
I'll see what I can do -- it's a sentimental thing as well as practical. Anyway... I am almost to halfway on this grid.... *sigh* I won't have time or energy to finish today
LOL welki, the opposite is true here -- and Tom and I are discussing how to make the new house a lot dryer when it's built!
si5/16?
dry/humid - solutions always boil down to air flow and wicking measures
a colander, bez
bea
TY!
thanks for that one welki
Thanks
and normal humidity. around here I rarely drink actual water except in the summer -- 50-70+% humidity is normal. We dealt with mold problems within a year of moving in to our home, just from the normal moisture in the air, not from bad ventilation per se.
we bought a couple of nice rockers and tables for the front porch today - and then the snow began to fall. husband pulled a portable heater out of the garage and it worked, but the snow started blowing sideways - and here i am *lol*
snow now?
Did you use a deumidifier, stid?
snow? again??? or still? *sigh* you-all need fair Spring to make an appearance.
55% here in the summer and 45% in the winter
dehumidifier
we used what we could, Bea, but the only de-humidifiers we could find were prohibitively expensive. The issue is, of course, no longer an issue for us.
sitd, when i moved here, i was AMAZED that a loaf of bread could stay out on the counter for a week without getting moldy! potato chips/cookies - stay fresh for a long time
alberta, i think, is the hand cream capital of the world - and everyone drinks water all the time, you have to
Can you have a dehumidifier installed with your heating/cooling system?
one day, sometimes, welki... Tom's bread didn't last even a few days in the bread box even. We had to refrigerate or freeze any open starchy foods.
bea's onto something - i'll bet they're the norm now
you are like my mrs, stidmama.she also does not care for water.i on the other hand drink about 4- 6 sports bottles of it a day
if we can afford it, will be radiant floor heating... I will NEVER have forced-air heat again in any home I own.
radiant floor heating rocks!
I'd look into a household dehumidifiying system.
Stid floor heating is awesome
howddddeeeeeee
i'm always the odd one - i don't like warm floors
hey gwen
Hydronic heating.
Hi Book
I am going to be working on the engineering for airflow, but we are not "flush" enough to consider a house-sized de-humidifying system unless we were to do it in conjunction with forced-air heat. Which I refuse to do. My allergies were not well served with air blowing contaminants around.
Hey, Gwen.
tenses
hey gwen! ((((hugs))))
sorry.
hi peach
in a old home we had,i rather enjoyed the old radiator style of heat
eek! i mean, hi stid!
i like them, too, crossy - growing up in apartments in nyc, the clang and hiss of them was comforting
weused to bleed out air bubbles to kill the clang
convection, it's the only way to go
cats love them
I didn't mind the radiators in our house. It was great heat. But they are all gone now.
I loved radiators in the old apartments I lived in for college. Bonus was that the boiler also meant plenty of hot water for lovely long baths while I read!
i could do that in our house, but not in the apartment buildings - way too many floors for one open valve to make much of a difference
My best preference for drying the air in a house is a wood stove, but again my allergies prevent our enjoying such a thing.
yes,you had to have the boiler anyways,so no shortage of bath water for the ladies
how about a propane or natural gas fireplace?
no dust, nice adjustable heat
and they're quite pretty if you pick out a good one
my in laws had one of those, welki
was nice
we are thinking about a propane one, welki - our neighbors have one and like it
(we have a built in one in our living room and a portable one we picked up years ago that looks like a tiny wood stove - takes the chill out of the bedroom nicely - and we even have a nice built in one in the RV)
i prefer a real fire, but really like not having to clean out the ashes and de-soot/creosote the chimney
i have seem a home set up with a small one of those in each room(other than the bathroom for main source of heat
Stid - B says Gas heaters are the way to get de-humidifications, also if you are looking most of the split system units have dehumidifies in them these days. So you may be able to look at getting a split system units when rebuilding
although to be honest I am considering not allowing anything with an open flame to exist in my home. Except for my cooktop... I love cooking over gas.
crossy, they even have them in restaurants now - not only in the main dining areas, but in the ladies' lounges
the bathroom had a waterproof, vertically mounted electric heater in corner with towel warmer rack
crossy misses cooking on a flame..sniff
Stid I will message you over on FB
oh, towel-warmer... *sigh*
okay lady
yup,is quite the rig.toasty warm towels
What sort of thing are you looking for Stid?
And how many squares is the house going to be rebuilt (if you know)
http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/europe\nan-towel-warmers-heaters-74341
square? aussie term?
nice to see everyone
sq ft i imagine
square metres - the overall floor measurement
howdy dr 1965
(metric for a long time now Crossy)
Hi Crossy
hi DR
Hi Lynxxx
cool,lynxx,we switched over in 1976-78
oh, likely a little under 2000 square feet -- 550 or so square meters, but also most likely two stories this time instead of one.
nbt yea
go gwen go!
now to find 25 more Vs
2000 sq feet would be 185 sq metres
gwen, you mentioned having a contraption to remove that old books smell from books you buy? could this be used inexpensivly on smoke damaged items?
it's probably an ozone box, gwen?
crossy, sure. it's not a contraption, it's a simple wooden box with a lid. you put the book in there (or whatever) and put some deodorizer in there. you can use kitty litter (the odor-eliminating kind)
hi again :)
oh, okay, lynxxx, I am in three different websites, talking to Tom and watching TV... slightly distracted!
i don't mess around with ozone! 8-)
ahh,ok.i thought there was something else out there
hey smores
oh, that does sound simple, gwen.
Hiya stid :)
just don't let the cat in stid
<--- Feeling left out ... no greeting from Stid : (
does the box need to be wooden Gwen - would palstic do?
i buy a product specifically for deodorizing books. it's made by a tiny business, like me. < book deodorizer dot com >
