And fireworks for me.

Hi all. Anyone got a clue for the se 8,50 please?
*Hands Judi of Arc her sword and shield*
hi all, glad to see a large (relatively) grid today!!
se8...s + the King r****s over his people + Jun*** High
SE + ***ition + sen*** (elder one) -- ludicrous word!
What the King does sounds like wet precipitation
hi gwen and hydra :) back for the rest of the fishies, i hope :)
that was for the 8,50
thanks, y'all, got the se8
Hello...dense one here...can't figure out the se 8...
The 2nd part of my clue is "ignition"
s + the number after seven is ***ht + i'm a jun***, not a sen***
Got it, thanks!
I would also like to know in what language that word is supposed to exist
Middle English, Anglo-French
Ya know, those two everyday languages.
take your pick...
it's an old spelling of an old word meaning a sir or a lord
In which language???
it's old english, (or middle english, i guess)
mmm-hhmmm
in the middle ages the english borrowed a lot of french words. they were allies with france and chared kings with france, sort of
That may very well be so, but including that word in today's puzzle makes one scratch one's head.
Not to be vulgar, but there a few male organs (from the gr 5/14 area) in the grid.
It was duly nopticed, Jellen
and the sex parties to make use of them ;)
(in the 1400s, i looked it up in the wiki, it's under Dual Monarchy)
love the blending of languages to make a word.so it is not really french, english or american:))))
Oh, my! Didn't have that one.
yeah the dictionary inside this game is from the middle age, too LOL
Right, Gwen!
if you learn the terminology of heraldry you will learn a lot of medieval french words that are now in english dictionaries
sinister....
fesse
verde
nbt finally! gules
grats gwen !!!
I think we're supposed to use Franglatinglish.

I worked this morning, just finished all charts on the computer, and now get to unwind here.
hi scrabs :)
got that subaru broken in yet scwabby?
Hi scrabbler
bowing to you, my dweebs
Well, the Hi9 is a new one on me.
I think I know how to use everything now. I set my favorite radio stations, including several Toronto ones, used cruise control, added petrol today...getting 30 mpg!
a well-earned break scrabs
<---proud nerd, dork, geek and dweeb
lol, aren't most of us?
* Proudly flies geek flag *
i am going to love cruise control in my new my.my sciatica(sp) is an agony after just and hour on the road
I should think all Babblers are!
my new ride*
Yikes, Crossy. I have had 4 episodes of sciatica in my life. Nerve pain is brutal!
<hoists my freak flag in support of judi>
the pulling up the back of the leg and around the buttocks and the feet going numb and the random nerve pain is crazy
I have to get my Yakima kayak rack attached to the siderails. Next week I go to the Adirondack Mtns.
yaaa, break it in with kayak hauling
I have to add -ing to many words.
(jealous of subaru that gets 30, my mom's gets only 20)
my new jeep will only get 20...sniff:((
I just got a 2013 Crosstrek--smaller than a Forester. My 2005 Forester averaged 25 mpg. Highway fuel efficiency of 33 mpg convinced me to get the Crosstrek rather than a gently used Forester.
hoping for delivery first week august;)))))
Special order--certain features?
no,just they are tooling up for 2014,s and what is out there is all there is,and since they always sell out it is a mad scramble to get what you want
So you are getting a 2013?
yup.the 2013 has a 3500 dollar rebate and the base sticker price is 7 k less, that is why i put my order in a month before the money
Today's best experience in the office. 4 siblings, now in their 3rd foster home in the last year will be adopted by this family! I hugged the woman and teared up. I have seen the kids for the last 3-4 yrs.
Good plan, Crossy.
if i had waited another 2 months i would of had to order a 2014..at 10k more
the 2012 was a total sell out and the 2013 will be in short order:))
great news about the adoption, scrabs!
Crosstreks are in short supply too--very popular since debuting in 2012.
they are indeed scrabby and yaaa on that adoption!!
super scrabs! four kids is a lot to take on! bless her!
it is nice when they can keep the kids together
Gwen, I want to adopt so many kids, place them in my fantasy orphanage, and give them love, cleanliness, clothes, food and proper discipline. When I see neglected or abused kids get adopted I am just SO happy. Siblings are always kept together.
Yes, she has no kids of her own but is taking these 4 and I am humbled.
that was not always the case, scrabby
Yes, I know, but it is the rule here at least.
i have known several families where the sibling were split amongst foster homes
probably different laws or rules in different locations, regarding splitting up siblings
good thing the rules have changed:)
And these are Native American kids being adopted by Native parents.
Fireworks!
even better:)))))
Cute kids, very sweet.
wtg judi !!!!!! @ # @ !!!!!!
yaa for judi!
Yay Judi. Now, after finding 292 words, go enjoy your day!
congratulations judi!!!
Ty ty. Another hour and 3/4 at work. Then I'll have some enjoyment. If you count a pedicure as enjoyment.
I had a pedicure once and that was enough.
I count a pedicure as top shelf enjoyment.
I have to say, my favourite word of the day is the Hi9. Invisible sparkly rock.
Me too!
good clue for that one judi:))
Late congrats, btw.
Sparkly rock?
Semi-precious stone.

You make it hard for me to be smug when you give away 3/5 of a nine letter word, dude.
my bad
lol@dude
OK, I found ending to hi9.
yaaa! well i gave 90% of the word as judi mentions:)
Okay, kids. Unless someone is needful of a clue, I shall depart.
It is easy to see up there in the grid.
bye judi, see you tomorrow :)

I see. Too bad.
must be nice to be lofty enough to not only decide which adults in love may or may not marry but also base this on one of only 2400 religions practiced on this planet
slightly over 2400 active religions actually
There is a chipmunk 3 feet away from my feet, eating a piece of bread I tossed out.
i love it (in a sarcastic way) when the anti-equality crowd says marriage has always been between one man and one women. they know squat about history
loves chippies!
cool.will give him the trotts though,a bit of fruit or some seeds are better;))
There are tons of sunflower seeds beneath all of the birdfeeders.
lol,he loves junk food like many of us:))
I had 6 chippies out here at the same time the other day. I adore them.
ooh, just found a 9
what is neat is when you get them coming up into your hand for seed
Clue, please?
when you look at the world from the reverse side of a telescope, you see only a fraction of what there is to see....it's unfortunate
chipmunks are cute!!!!
and much easier to tame than squizzlers.... braver!
lol@ squizzlers
They are so sweet to watch. They make me smile. I was near tears last week when a cat caught a chippie and ran off with it in its mouth. :-(
gr8, a word meaning a way to prepare potatoes and cheese (i thing), plus a french cooking type ending, plural
oope, i meant gr9. well, there's an 8 there also
naughty kitty!!!!!
I have gr6 and 7. Must look for the 9.
Got gr9! TY.
(chipmunks are squirrels, technically . . . )
same ending as an afternoon movie or show . . .
the ma 7 and 8 words are similar... ;o)
our cats are good kitties
We have red and grey squirrels here and the red ones are adorable--much smaller than grey ones.
mine were good too, but in old streetsville, i had to teach them that chippies were not big mice (which they always caught, but never killed) i was afraid chippies might be scared to death...
ours are indoor cats.i do not wish to scrape them off the road or have them assaulting wildlife on other peoples properties
scrabs - do you have any flying sqizzlers there? we have some in ridgeway here - they only live in some very small pockets i understand
Well, I found 150 and that is enough.
Not 150 flying squirrels, hahah
i was going to say!! 150 is a lot of chippies!
you remind me of a sick joke, now trying hard not to type it . . .
:D
oh, go on gwen....
My neighbors have seen flying squirrels behind their home. They are on the other side of the street and have a ravine in their backyard. My squirrels jump from one tree to the next but I they don't have the webbed bodies.
hopefully, a few of them will decide to re-locate to "the sunny side of the street" :)
Time to work on bills. :-(
(sick joke commencing) so, a guy goes up to an old lady's house, knocks on the door, when she come out, he says, i'm real sorry, ma'am, i think i just run over your cat . . .
... but she says, now, wait a minute, before you get all upset, let's make sure it was may cat. can you describe it? and he says, well, it was flat and it had a tire track on it . . .
<waiting with bated breath for punchline>
(no, that's not the punchline) . . . and she says, no can you describe what it looked like before you hit it? and he says . . .
ROFL LMAO !!!! luv it gwen :)
.....
. . . (hands in air, like claws) MRRRRAAAOUUUR!
Poor kitty.
sorry,gewn,kind of fell flat:/
:-O
it's a visual joke, i guess . . .
did you spell tha tcata sound right????
yes, a cat screaming, the paws up in a defensive position, and eyes as side as possible . . .
*wide*
Enjoy the day, folks. I shall return tomorrow.
tc,scwabby
bye bye scrabs
well, i have 81 to go, maybe i should run off and do something productive now 8-)

Hi Kate :-) ... just enjoying a timmies large double double, which you two will understand! First one I've had in ages :-)
we have to invade the states, bury those dunkin doughnuts!
ah! the national drink of canada ;) have ya got a maple donut to go with it?
*hoping it's not alcohol*....
hi all. according to earlier chat there is an ro6/8 and 9. I found the ro6/8 but not the 9. any help out there
lol,at least i have HEARD of dunkin doughnuts and know it is not alcohol lol
what is a timmies?
gerund ending peri
think of the lawn game with mallets, balls, and wickets....drop the first letter....and gerund ending
<----likes dunkin donuts...but likes country style most of all... they still make theirs in store - not shipped in frozen to be thawed and decorated...i'd say more, but i feel a rant coming on ;)
no doughnut... I'm trying to cut back...LOL ( but my choice would be an walnut crunch ! )
it is a coffe shop my american friends
ah, ty crossy
country style is best.not that strong burnt taste
slang term for a Tim Horton's coffee.
ah...Tim Horton's ....i have one next door to me....
love the boston cream with choclit on top... or apple fritters :)))
ok
needed those as well
mmm,apple frittes
timmies is too strong for me! country style has the biggest, fluffiest donuts in the world!!!
i am not sure if they par-bake like timmies or not, kate
par-baking was the worst thing they ever thought of
I am making ice cream bread. will let you know how it turns out. only 2 ingredients, ice cream and self rising flour
what the heck is par baking
NO crossy - right form scratch still... have you noticed the tims are a lot "heavier" now? not to mention half the size they used to be...
Up until a few years ago they were totally cooked in the shop.... now they do bring them in par-baked I think.
they par-bake it all in some big warehouse in the city, then ship them off to all the timmies then finish them on site
oh, ok
half baked.... like some of us ;-)
I just read about icecream bread peri. Curious when you finish...
ice cream bread yummersa!
:)
did you ever have it, kate?
I am using chocolate ice cream :)
timmies baked good are a pale thing compared to what they used to be
Dunkin doesn't cook doughnuts on site anymore either....no more "Time to make the donuts" ads....
if it turns out ok. I will add a choclit chips next time.
no, sounds delish though, waiting for report....
Did someone say chocolate??
sounds interesting , peri :-)
chocolate icecream... yum, my fave
I saw the recipe on FB. it should be ready in about 25 minutes
hi Jellen :-)
Don't buy it often as I would eat the entire carton
who is the person in your icon, jellen
it is funny watching all the radar of the ladies swing around as chocolate enters the grid
is that your new beau?
He's my new beau, peri!
thought so :)
ohh! rumbling in the distance.hope we get a good thunder storm, the louder the better:))
Had to go grab a piece of fruit so I wouldn't dive into the freezer for the icecream
look at the weather radar crossy... biggie comoing our way!!! batten down the hatches!!!
wish i was there to make you a nice fruit sherbert mom0f5
bring it on!!
how mature of you mom, able to overcome the need for instant gratification of the choclit variety!
I try not to keep choclit in the house.
cell phones are all charged, ereaders are charge, oil is in the kerosene lamps..bring it on
Defense mechanism.
Eating sweet bing cherries. I'll save the icecream for later haha
i like thunderstorms too - as long as they are not the tornado birthing type....
going to check on bread, bbs
thanks mom! now i'm going to have to go buy some cherries!!!
got a lovely pair of kerosene lamps dated around 1870 to 1890 with original flutes at a silent auction for 60 dollars a pair:))
Wow, crossy!
my guess is 1890
at least I am tempting you with healthy fruit, right?
good old fashoined kitched working lamps with the big heavy bases
kitchen
yes, but choclit's good too :)
nice score crossy!!!
how about chocolate covered cherries
hehe,i snuck in on the last day an hour before closing and upped the last bid of 55 dollars by 5 bucks
stephen colbert's word for verification is here! And it's not a word!

19 here...we had storms on the weekend, more flash floods in Calgary and bad hail in many areas. We were spared the hail this time.
Nearly 2:30. Must get some work done. BBL
wow! this is the "small storm" the biggie is set for about 7 pm'

do you have a computer at home?
fireflies :) last word was the smallest fishie of all... tr 4/4!!!!
have to send you plans to make a 'cantenna" ,kate.boost those local free wifi signals
no peri, it was a temporary loaner, i'm back at the internet cafe.
yay for tk
you may have to wait til tomorrow then
the neighboour upstairs has wifi, so i was able to get a ride on theirs.. if i get a computer full-time, i will just pay them a portion of their bill... the signal is "excellent" :)
that is fair, pay half and piggy-back
mcdonald's has wifi but not quite near enough, it doesn't show up on the list of networks to choose from.
thats when the cantenna comes in;))
well, probably only 1/3 as her son is in the apt. above her and probably also piggy backs...
http://www.cantenna.com/ you can also make this from a old proingles container
the signal at mickey d's is so weak, i couldn't get a decent signal 15 from the door, sitting outside on the table there...
pringles
:((
oh you mean like buster bars and taking the cap off the cable to get your neighbor's service?
does anyone need stats/ hints - i have about 20 minutes to clue. i will look into it one of these days crossy. i always seem to be pressed for time on-line
hope she has a big data pack for three of you
no,TO,not like that
i don't watch movies etc. crossy. just babble and a bit of e-mail clean-up
then it will be fine:)
oh, it is a booster to use free wifi that the state prorivde?
err,no,it is a booster to gather signal from businesses that already provide it free of charge
they provide it free of charge for the public, like mc donalds and dunkin donuts and starbucks?
kate would use it outside of her McDonalds for example
in some cities they do
and mcdonalds and starbucks,hotels
They do here TO
oic
anywhere you already have a free signal but it is weak
i know. only source of news during hurrcane sandy
the ice cream bread turned out ok. not sure I would make it again.
it tastes like chocolate bread
very easy to make
molly, the festival was really great but i fear it is the first and last, the promoter took a bath
Our Starbucks and McDonalds free wifi signal is plenty strong. No booster needed.
Those things are always a gamble, TO. Especially in the summertime.
oh, but molly, i am now in love with mem shannon. and paul cebar. :)
♥♥♥
Mem Shannon is great
the local mcdonald's, pizza pizza, and texarcana all have free wifi, but they are a full block away - tto far. it is a moot point anyway, as long as i can use my neighbour's signal.
hi TO and torgon :)
what type of music do they play/sing Owl?
I'm amazed that anyone still has an unprotected wifi signal.

I saw that recipe on the internet, but it didn't appeal to me somehow.
I wanted to give it a try. very easy to make but I would rather just eat the ice cream by itself. seems a waste of good ice cream

Hello Jilly!
Car, I like the strawberries. Were they hard to make?
It is just a picture that I saved because one day I would like to do these. I have made chocolate dipped strawberries before and they are very easy, so I imagine these would also be.
car!!:)))
And BTW, Hello Molly!
Hello Crossy!
Ah, good idea to save the picture as a reminder.
i made them with colored sugars. messy.
I am very happy to report that our weather has changed and I am enjoying a nice cool evening!
Today, was brutual, but tonight is lovely.
and now it is time for crossy's tidbit of the day!!!
Pandas are notoriously reluctant to mate in captivity. This has led breeders to create "panda porn"—videos of pandas copulating.
How is it that I am always just in time for CTOD?!?!?

Frank and I are good; the side effects from the chemo are gradually starting to go away, and we are getting him set up with new doctors; so far he likes them all so that is good.
In particular he really needs a gastroenterologist, and the one we found seems excellent.

TY both and here to clue if you need it. Hallo Aloy!
still never got a clue for se6/24 the first one, please?
(-: was this a tuffy grid , Jilly? I started off fine, but am wrestling with it at the last quarter..
oh.. have that one, Marc.. gerund, the act of visualizing
I have that now I have to look and see which se I am missing
Mark, it's the se4 before it, plus Lady Ga**
Aloy, it goes in spurts...you'll go really fast with the gerunds, ed and pl endings...then get stumped on some
sorry its the 2nd se6/24 I am looking for?
I just clued it marc
okie dokie, I'll keep on chugging along, ty Jilly
thanks got it Jilly
Not sure on the time however aloy...it took me a couple hours
Yay Marc!!

61, found those weirdo gr biggees.. (ty morewords)
Go aloy!! You are going to beat my time all to hell.
lol, don't tell me you track your time, Jilly! I started at the flip, worked a bit early this am, then was busy and am now ending the day with the grid..
<====whew...feeling much better now...was just amazed at your progress
I start off fast, but.. well, you know.. 6 letter words are my blind spot
and there are 70 tonight!
sigh.. but thank goodness there are 102 4 letter words, lol
Some of those I struggled with LOL...I don't read well to the left
oh well, I guess Babble is a good training tool for our eye/brain connection..
Ahh, just another reason to babble!!1
yes, it is good for staving off senility
at least I tell that to myself, while I wile away the hours, lol
LOL
whew, am bumping into some words that I don't feel bad about not seeing.. hello, I don't have a clue what they mean!
oops, off I go to the PB, sorry..
*places chocolates in PB and calls cabana boys*
ooooh, tyvm, Jilly.. (-:
How do you get hints?
You just ask..LOL, hello and welcome karenka!
First time?
hi Karenka, just ask for them in the chat box.. welcome to Babble!
Yes, first time. But I do play Boggle, which is similar. How do if find out the "i" in the upper right corner?
is5.10, add the beginning of the fish net
If tile is greyed out on bottom, there are no words from it..
see aloy...left and right...I have trouble with that
oh boy, Jilly.. my grandmother was like that.. she made the sign of the cross at each intersection so she could follow directions, and she wasn't even Catholic, lol (she was raised that way, using her right hand)
ROFL...gotta remember that one! Especially since I am Catholic!
.. and she was brilliant, so I imagine you are too!
Creative more than brilliant...
Wow...I see Robin Williams is back on TV this fall...hope it's good...should be
speaking of creative, Robin Williams, wow.. what kind of show?
Sorry aloy, have only a few more minutes before I need to head to bed...any clues needed?

Missing one word with the "i" in the middle of the right side. I've lighted the place up even though I don't know how to...
Congrats Aly - you got all 292?
yup.. the other word from that i has to do with being unable to handle a job, in + S***ember follows August
oh, and then there is a "babblet", a weirdo word that often occurs in the grid, in4.4, in + two vowels, the ones at the end of the operatic solo, ar**
I got the 'unable to handle a job' - missing something else
if you wnat to know what a weird word means, kar, hit the ? before the word and sometimes the dictionary will tell you.
did you get the word I clued at 11:22?
hi RoundBarn, LOL.. I like the judicious use of the word "sometimes" !
yes, Aly, looking at 11:22 now...
okie dokie.. my eyes are crossing, so I'll bid you all adieu.. and Happy Babbling! poof
good night Aly. Thanks.
Sorry Aloy!
I don't now how to nickname Aly for the pronunciation of the name is Al-o-WISH-us.
I call her Aloy... like ALLOY
but no matter, it's bedtime. I don't get 292 wors, Kar, I got 94. Good searching and goodnight. The flip brings a new grid and this one is history, except someone said you can find it the next day for the words you mised. I'm fairly new here, don't know all the tricks.
night RB
I will look for these words on the flip.
