You OK, pug?
Yes and YOU?
Yes, I'm OK. Tired though.
Iam not too bad now but got a very busy day ahead
Hope you can get enough rest for, started to say tomorrow, but it is already tomorrow. LOL
brb
Ive got three people to take to doctors and banking and whatever other things they need to do.The first of the month is always very hetic
you run a taxi service, pug? :)
lol-no I have 3 elderly person that I take to places they need to go
well I guess I might be a taxi like service-lol
I actually did own a taxi business for over five years, decided I ran everyone I knew around most days, so I might as well go official and get paid for it! :D
but it wore me out, finally, whew...
Guess that it wouldnt be much different then driving a truck or anything else
I loved the independent old babes the most, they didn't want to have to call their kids or other relatives for a ride, and they had great stories to tell.
Ive always enjoyed older ones too
even when I was young I always enjoyed the stories from my grandparents and their friends
I bought the business from a fellow who apparently drove like a maniac, it took me a time or two with each older lady before they relaxed and quit clutching the armrests and seat backs while we were moving, then they'd comment on how relaxing it was to ride with me, compared to "the other guy", lol!
checking in, to say hello. have heard from son, finally. brax has been through another battery of tests(son wasn't exp;icit as to what th4 were for), but a few apparently serious things have been ruled out. brax has been losing weight, now. hospital is trying to establish a feeding schedule for him, in the hopes he will begin putting weight back on.
I bet you were a blessing to them
Hi Rose--I was worried about his weight earlier
oh, dear, rose, hope they get his troubles ironed out, poor little guy has been through a lot. (((hugs)))
So what now? And hows your vacation going
pugs, am home again, arrived a few hours ago. have unpacked almost everything. and i guess, we wait...son hopes, with some cynicism i might add, that th4 will bring brax home this weekend.
did they stop the bleeding or clotting
I hope so! I bet your daughter-in-law is just worn out as well as your son
pugs, have only had an email from son. going to give him another 2 hours, then text him on his mobile, and hopefully be able to speak to him personally.
Praying that all will turn out well for you all. Sorry that you had all this on your plate as you and yours was trying to enjoy a few days away from home--hugs to you Rose
it's so frustrating...i want the latest news, and yet i don't want to cramp the kids with constant calls. th4 have so much to deal with.
Yeah I know what you mean there
prayers and hugs are gratefully received, pugs
sometimes waiting is the hardest thing to do
How are you feeling Rose? Is your leg giving you fits
yup, pugs. and the muscles in my back have been in spasm with all the car travel. will be glad to sleep in my own bed tonight. as you guessed, i did a fair bit of walking over the last 3 days...
sounds like a good rest is just what is called for here
i am supposed to be able to walk in this splint, and i did take regular rests, but it still gives me gyp.
I imagine that the stress back home wasent very helpful either
am gonna take it nice and easy for the next 2 days...back at work monday. :(
I hope you do! And I hope you can rest well too
did you visit any more musuems
not since last night. after breakfast we packed the car and started for home.
last night we had dinner at a tapas bar, it was a 1960's trivia night. lol. ihardly remember the '60's.
I hope we didnt make rbud feel ignored? we kind of left her behind here'--Glad you made it home safe and sound Rose and hope you can get rested up before monday
thanx dear friend.
So I take it you didnt do very well at the trivia then-lol
rbud?? you still here, hun?
um, no, pugs....we were laughing a lot, and the quiz master really had some obscure questions. we did well on films, and photos of personalities.
well you at least didnt have a complete failure at it-lol
another table of players were at least 10 years older than us, so th4 were in their teens in the 60's.
it was such fun...
It sounds like it was. Nice that you and yours could have an evening of just fun
Its kinda quiet here . Everyone must of had a trying week
apologies, was out of the room getting some bikkies and cheese.
what is bikkies
crackers...
I was also gone for a bit, caught up reading the last half hour now. Had to go find my kitties, they were still outside and it's supposed to start raining sometime in the wee hours.
over here we call crackers biscuits, and what is called biscuits in the US, we call scones.
ahh thanks
and hauled in my sawhorse tabletop - have been doing window trim, etc, in my soon to be "new" kitchen.
did you find them Rbud
yes, they all three came running. plus a couple of extras we feed, haha! but they live out in the carport.
so if i refer to bikkies....th4 are colloquially referring to crackers/biscuits
awww poor kitties. bet th4 were cold and hungry.
I like cheese and crackers with grapes too
one of the little abandoned tomcats has a swelled front paw he's limping on. wish I could do something for him, but he's not really ours...
hmmm, grapes!!!
I'm such a softie...
mmm, grapes! been a while since I could afford any.
I think grapes brings out the cheese flavor
yeah I am too when it comes to animals
well, grapes would clear the palate between tastes of cheese...we had a sparkling muscato with the cheese.
hopefully next year I will have my own
that sounds so good
does muscato count, instead of grapes. th4 are just been processed a little more.
I dont see why not
I got a recipe off of someones profile(dont remember whos) for a tomato soup cake. I plan of making this week-end. Have you tried it Rose or Rbud
no pugs, sounds interesting though. let me know what it's like..
okay will do--sounds like it might be like a spice type thing
jillibus's recipe, I think! I keep meaning to give it a try, too. I'm about the only one in my family who really likes tomato soup, or even fresh sliced tomatoes. hard to believe.
I have it in a notepad note on my desktop, along with a few dozen other recipes I'd like to eventually try.
I know it calls for raisins and nuts and a few spices--thats what makes me think it may be like a spice cake
it dosent say anything about icing so it may be more like a bread
oh! I have a cream cheese frosting listed along with it, so I'd wondered if it might resemble a carrot cake, perhaps.
I seen some other recipes on other profiles and I wish I had tooken the time to write them down cause Iam very bad at remembering--lol
thanks I will add that to it--It just might
I like carrot cake so I hope it does
I see it's still on jillibus's profile, too.
http://www.playbabble.com/profile_mini\n.php?id=24882
I must of over looked the icing
thank you Rbud
oops, take out the " \n " - not sure how that gets in there, babble just does it. :P
how much more is left on doing your new kitchen,Rbud?
oh, lots, really - still debating whether to build the cabinet boxes myself (with help) or try to buy them already made. Have cabinet doors and fronts that Hubby's older brother made a long time ago, from their parents' house, want to use them.
But we put in the new windows and ceiling in the last few days, which made a big difference already.
Hubby's brother was a really good professional cabinet maker back in his day.
thats helps on cost too. A friend of mine made my sink cabnet in our kitchen during the winter and I love it!
making it yourself you know just how well its put together
I'm just not liking what I see in ready-made cabinet boxes so far. Cheap materials, and can't afford the solid wood stuff, so... think we'll give it a try.
My desk here for my computer I bought at a sale last summer homemade by someone and I got it for 1 dollar
good score there!!
Iam sure you will do fine and you love it more doing it yourself
I agree, plus I can completely close them in, not like the old ones in the old kitchen - the mice have had their way long enough. :P
(there were no backs on the old ones.)
thats the way mine was too
then I think the old kitchen is getting made over into a small spare bedroom... may have to move Mom in soon. Just off the bathroom, quite handy.
I had a little mouse that came in during the winter that kept coming up around the burner of my stove and I felt sorry for it so I put food out every night for it.lol It never left any messes behind and when spring came it left.
yes--that will be handy
do you live in a house or a trailer
it's a house, very old. amazing what we've found under the sheetrock while remodeling - the walls are mostly solid wood, with a dozen layers of old wallpaper.
then sheetrock over that.
oh wow--bet that was interesting to find
but the wood's not nice enough to expose, it looks like old boards from railroad cars, we think. all about an inch thick, very rough, and about 1 foot by 2 feet. but I can hang a picture anywhere, lol!
think that's the only reason the house hasn't rattled to pieces over the years, we're pretty close to the train track.
I dont know, there are people that uses old barn lumber for their walls and it looks great
but hey, it's paid for! :D
does the train still run on it
oh, yes, we're right by a switch, and the same train will go back and forth several times, adding and subtracting cars, till it gets them the way they want them, then off they finally go.
my childhood home was next to tracks and I still miss the sound of the train running. But it no longer travels on those tracks
but after 22 years, we're used to it. plus I've always lived by a train, it seems, and Dad retired from the Rock Island Line, he was a conductor when they still had passenger cars.
so I'm sentimental about them, too. except when they blow the horn at 4 AM, haha!
My grandfather was a conductor for the b&o in Indianapolis
nothing like the sound of the train whistle in the quiet of the night
I think we've lost Rose
far away, yes, but right in the side yard, not so much, hahaha! but most of the engineers are nice at night, and just barely tap the horn. some are not so nice, but not often.
I'll bet she's tired! or maybe trying to get through to the new parents?
Is it close enough to rattle your house
Yeah I bet she is too. Shes been through alot here lately
yes, a bit. that's why I've never tried to put up my collections of miniature items in printer's drawer shelves, I'd probably have to gl4 them all down.
dont blame you there
hello
(((Ruby))) hello
hi, ruby! :)
How have you been Ruby
{{little pug}}nd {{rbud}}
I'm sort of OK and enjoying the very hot summer weather. After our miserable spring and summer, I don't mind the heat at all, even the day it got over 100F (1st time in 15 years)
has it been too hot for you to do any of your gardening
I love your mouse story, Puglet, I feel the ame way. I even rescue moths that come in the house and don't mind the mice Under our bird feeder at all. Yesterday, wild-girl Raffie killed a bird however. I guess it had been injured, but still.....I never heard of dogs doing that
She and Rufie caught a mouse outside one day and played with it until it was dead. They're like enormous cats!
I got a boxer mix that will kill my chickens if she gets a chance
how do the dogs do when it's so hot - do you get their fur trimmed?
they seek out the coolest places but \i don't trim them. I think they're never too hot and I put ice cubes in their water dishes
I have a small kiddie pool for mine and they get in it whenever they get too warm
I used to really work with my dogs training but I havent done so with these. So its my fault they have picked up bad habets
they also drink from the fish pond which stay pretty cod (but icky as far as I'm concerned)
I saw a hint somewhere about freezing treats in a mixture of chicken or beef broth, in a big butter tub or maybe an ice cream bucket, and giving it to a dog on a very hot day. keeps them cool and busy.
oops, mix the broth with water, I meant to say
thats a good ideal--I have frozen hotdogs for them
Raffie crunches the ice cubes but last night, inthe dark, I found her chewing on a rock. I don't think chws are the sartest pups in the pack!
I got to watch my pug she will do the same thing Ruby
hahaha! silly boy. :)
I thought pugs were smarter than chows! hahah
she seems to need something in her mouth at all time
whew, just realized, our summer guests are finally going home today (friday) - our daughter's boyfriend's sons have been here for six weeks. back to their mom, now.
Rafie, too
(daughter and her boyfriend live with us upstairs.)
that will make your house quiet-lol
the food bill will drop drastically, too, thank goodness! they eat a lot.
how old are they
they are now around 12 and 14, tough teen years. we've been "step" grandparents to then since they were 5 and 7.
*them
its nice you step in there for them--yes teenage years are tough ones
have no blood grandkids, yet.
annapooh(pug) just turned 2 last month so I hope she will soon grow out of the need to chew so much
they live deep in Chicago, they enjoy coming here to our tiny town, a whole different lifestyle.
oh I bet they do
takes several days for them to quit talking city slang, haha!
don't know, I've known small dogs that carried something around with them almost constantly all their lives.
they have to fly home?
no, it's only a couple of hours to drive.
is school about to start for them
our school begins the 7th
yes, and it will be a new one, hope it's as good as the last one, they seemed to be doing all right there. but their mom is moving to a different area.
(still deep in Chicago)
I hope it will be too for them--change isnt always so easy
I'm a little worried, but we'll see.
do you have contact with them through out the rest of the year
off and on, they come for the longer holiday breaks and such.
and they call our daughter and their father pretty often.
its so easy for kids to get into bad company
they used to live with their father and our daughter, but then the mom straightened up her act and got them back. she used to be quite the mess. don't know if she's really all that much better, but they say she is.
one of my sisters moved her teenage kids to vegas and it was really hard on them at the time. going from a small town to a huge place like that
got about the same problem with my little nephew
oh, my, that would be rough. vegas!
her daughter got into a lifestyle she had never been around and got into drugs and etc. But thank God she found her way out and is now doing so much better
my keyboard just quit and I had to shut down the computer.
wondered where you went! :)
did you get it fixed
Ruby you have the best of luck--lol
and it's only a couple of months old
It is a piece of Chinese Junk (pardon the pun)
Hate leaving such great company but got a busy day ahead and Iam going to try to catch a couple of hours of sleep. Take care Rbud and Ruby and Rose if you are still here-You and Braxton will be in my prayers.
{{xxlittle pug}}
ooh, just got a 7!
nite, pug!
finally heard from son. brax has a duct in his liver narrowed, and his gall bladder has not developed fully, hence he has a touch of jaundice. his weight loss has slowed. 3 days ago he lost 90gm, 2 days ago 40gm, and in the last 24 hours, has lost a measly 10gm. if in the next 24 hours he actually puts weight on, brax will be coming home very soon.
g
oh, just popped back in before giving up for the night - sounds like braxton's improving, glad to hear it! :)

hello Aloy
Good luck with your new car, scrabbs
I am not liking this grid
hi Annie! didn't see you..
it has evil overtones:(
Yes, Crossy, skinnydipping in lakes and rivers is an essential part of my summer fun.
watch out for those leeches!:))
And the snapping turtles.
My last trip was with my youngest sister. Next week I will be with her again and a friend. Lots of laughs.
it looks amazing
I have had tiny leeches on my feet. A snapping turtle---yikes!
57 left for late - must get back to work - have a great day everyone. Scrabbs enjoy your trip.
bye, River.. hagd
leeches would gross me out
And I must get ready for my day. We are going to pick blueberries then go hiking, or maybe in reverse order.
hi ruru and Molly
you have a great day,scrabby
*scrabs is reliving her hippie years*
sounds like a great day, Scrabbs.. have fun
They WERE gross, Ruru. I was at dinner after a day of kayaking and swimming and saw blood trickling down my foot, then saw clumps of teeny leeches.
crossy never left his hippie years
ewwwwwwwww
I was a kid during the hippie days.
*likes swimming pools.. no leeches*
oh.. (now I feel old)
I was born near end of 1959
(now I feel really, old)
me too
59 was a great year for wine
"Old" is relative. We are young compared to centagenarians.
i was the one that killed disco btw.there is a picture of me for my 8th grade graduation wearing those wide collar shirts, bell bottom cords and 2 tone mens platform shoes.well that killed it right there.not to mention my hair was long and straight and down to the centre of my back
Funny image, Crossy.
rock singer hair.all us guys had to have rock singer hair:)
the girls were usually mad at us,because we could grow it longer and straighter then they could with very little attention:)
brb, am baking butternut squashes, need to check them

Hi ruru!

hi car.ee
Love the new icon Car. That is one of my favorite Eeyore images.
Hi Aloy! Hi Molly! Thanks!
If a Roman or Greek undresses, wouldn't they deTO4?
I simmer the stock with a touch of ginger and add cardomom puree it with a couple slices of peeled apple and salt and pepper
I would think so Car.
you don't want to be around naked greeks car..
ooh, sounds wonderful, ruru.. have not made it that way
I think "diety" should be a word. Like, "I wanted to go out for pizza, but all my friends are diety this week."
And yes, I know that is a word if you flip the vowels.
<tried diety
last night

LOL! Good one!
Oh I like that Aloy. I like that a lot.
gm, everyone! tadone!! finito!!
Hi Dawg! congrats!
wtg, dawger.. congrats!!
Speaking of slow people, I heard a very funny bit on the radio this morning where the DJ's were trying to interpret what was said on Honey Boo Boo this week.
Oh boy!
Honey boo boo a cable show? don't have cable
Is it just me or is Honey Boo Boo's mom about the dumbest person in the world?
I have never seen the show, or clips, so I had no idea how back woods and unintelligible those people are when speaking.
I refuse to watch that show.
?? you can have a citation but there is no citate
she's very lagic, ru! lol
Uh oh! Is Aloy getting ag8/55?
Honey Boo Boo.. will probably end up on drugs and therapy or be a hooker later in life
oooh, tyvm car.ee!!
I see her as more the born again Tammy Faye Baker type.
yvw!
"yew want something sweet? hunnybunch?"
I get the picture, Molly
LOL molly
time already to take the rest of the squash out of the oven.. brb
NBT...time to change the laundry...brb....
and now it is time for crossy's tidbit of the day!!!
The word “PEZ†comes from the German word for peppermint—PfeffErminZ.
good one, crossy..
Cool!
which is ironic since pfefferminz comes from the Old Serbo Croation PEZ
good add on steve-o:))
Just found the LU 4 & 5...going to put on my Hawaiian Radio....

Good morning, all!

gatica
Uma Thurman was in it too.
Ding! Ding! Ding! Car.eeyore wins the prize!
Very weird movie.
i do know uma however
I figured you would, Crossy.
Uma's great
two Ts in Gattica !
<--- does not enjoy Uma.
really?
As in Gattaca
Uma is odd looking. Although, not as odd looking as Tilda Swinton.
she was awesome in Pulp Fiction and both Kill Bills
thought agita was an upset stomach/heartburn
that would be right Molly
Tilda Swinton looks like n ugly version of David Bowie
never seen either, ruru, guess i must get out more:)\
Tilda is straight up alien.
ty for Karmann
I also do not enjoy Gwenyth.
I do not find either one of them talented.
Jada Pinkett is another straight up alien
I like Gwennie. She actually has talent.
have you see the dreaded Schweppes commercial with uma? They even run it in English here
crossy must have his nose buried in too many books
No..thank goodness.
Stay in the books, Crossy. You are not missing much.
Gwenyth...GOOP...gag me
game of thrones has finally made it into my to-read list only 40 more books and i can get to it
Gwenyth acts the same in every movie
I agree Ru
Oh dear...could hear the kitty but not see the kitty...that is because he was right under my feet...which I just put down on kitty.
If it's any consolation, ruru - she did lose her head in "Kiss the Girls".
There was a hilarious piece about Gwyneth in the New Yorker about a month ago
I am trying to read Gravitys Rainbow for the 12th time. Finally made it past page 100
And in Percy Jackson / Lightning Thief.
poor kitty:(
Well...Uma loses her head in that movie. Sorry...can't keep up.
"Our" vet ended up hospitalized after being bitten by cat at work. Can you imagine?
I have now spent more than enough time on Uma and Gwyneth for the day. Gak. That is time I will never get back.
Uma made a pretty good Medusa.
My cat sent a vet to the ER.
lol,says something about the vet
how, car.?
Oh dear. Bad kitty!
Gravity's Rainbow is too science geek for me.
He had an injury and she was poking it and he bit her.
have to learn to swaddle a cat correctly
ouch
We love our vet but she said it was an old sick cat. I was just surprised that they couldn't quickly prevent the infection
I found it to be a very amateur move on her part.
That is a pretty amateur move, car. Most vets will have you or a tech "scruff" the cat before they start poking around.
some countrys regard cats as little more than wild vermin and do not try very hard with them ;(
oh no.. red bars.. begone, red bars!
Of course, since this is France, she took 3 weeks off work!
acck! no red bars of doom!
She is wonderful with our pups, kept Ruby alive and etra 6 months, I think
etra*
Have to go and work now. Don't forget the co 5/12 everyone...the little mammal with the ringed tail!
Have a great day! {[hugs}} all around!
extra* couldn't find the x
Seeya, car!
i can loan you an x ruby....
tc car!
maybe that is what you tripped on when you came in Ruby.
xx, crososy, I found it
bye car.
bye, car.ee, tc
ooh, just found the 8 and 9. Thought they were phantoms, at first
going to take a break and hope the red bars go bye bye.. 36 to find later, fun chatting with you all.. ciao for now!
bye aloy
What do they start with, ruby?
Crossy,..... can't find that article but every Facebook user would do well to heed its warnings!
and since my last tidbit was a tad bland,i now give you the rare, not often seen bonus tidbit of the day!!!!!!
indeed diane
Casu marzu means "rotten cheese"Â in Sardinian and is commonly known as "maggot cheese" because it actually contains live maggots. The cheese is only okay to eat if the maggots are still alive. A comforting thought, right?
co, judi
*GAG*
ty for sharing, crossy, NOT!
... calcium and protein all in one bite !!
that's truly disgusting
here is a good article on it,diane...
http://tinyurl.com/d8v5ef9
is it animated?
It sort of grossed me out too, crossy so I might pass on the link.... :-)
there is one clip, but you do not have to play it,ruby
Got the co8/9. Ty.
may I pls have a clue for the top y?
you are making that up
no,the link has to do with like farming, diane, not the cheese
I've had it, it's tasty :)
Ye4. Sasquatch.
mythical creature in the Himalayans ?
big white creature, ruby
duh, me
ty, judi
not sure which mountains ;-)
headdesk...
though i will look for that cheese link if you wish
when my son took this picture of black Max, it took him 2 days, said it was like photgraphing sasquatch
sardinia has strange food, most of it tasty
thanks crossy.... got my conversations mixed up... I will go and read.
I've always wanted to go there, mael, but it's too late now
it is like souther us cooking, very tasty as long as you do not ask too many questions on what is in the pot
it's not too late, ruby! don't think that way, it's not like it's sunk into the sea :)
Hee hee. I'm pretty sure most folks in the U.S. try to keep the maggots OUT of their food.
pure protein
I liked bleu cheese until a woman here told me it frequently had worms
dinner now, see you later
Oh wow, sorry but that is a blatant generalization about Southern US cooking.
enjoy, ruby.... and totally erase the foregoing coversation from your mind !!
molly,i would love nothing better than a [proper down south seafood boil:)) but i still do not ask questions
heck.we can offer you boiled reindeer testes,so we can bit rough around the edges as well:)) was not an attack on us cooking
(you know they are done when they pop)
I'll pass.
my favorite food is rabbit kidneys, so I judge not
every comment is not a personal attack.keep all those handgun on safety please!:)
Don't say that in front of Scrabbler, mael!
my da liked rabbit kidneys
but then again he liked blood and tongue sausage and turkey jelly on toast:(
Crossy... I think I speak for everyone when I say...Shut up.
CROSS, now you understand, being raised in maine and now living in an ohio city-- why i gaze longingly at the deer now roaming our back yards... a new thing for us in the last 10 years, and my friends and family are horrified ... i do miss venison
mmmm,venison...
lol,sorry,judi.i will shut up
Venison is good. Organs, blood products...YUCK>
some are more queasy that others.ask ruby.she loves oragan meats
i do not
weirdest thing I've eaten was raw tuna heart
which was also delicious
now that IS different
i think you win the odd edible of the day mael
Huh. Were you on a fishing boat at the time, mael?
I was :)
either that or she was out for a swim and had a fight with a tuna
I had just caught the tuna, too
rather savage business, that
was it like the first nations eating raw buffalo heart sort of thing?
Interesting. Did the heart taste anything like the tuna steak?
it tasted like a meatier version of tuna sashimi
or the swede fishermen biting the heads off kippers for luck?
very rich taste
Gee, I don't know how the rest of you tolerate us handgun totin', varmint cookin', poorly insured Americans.
easy molly
Ah ha. Definitely not something served here in U.S. resturants.
this was in Polynesia, on our honeymoon
Wonder if they serve it in Japan?
i know they will buy all the shark fin they can get
mael, what did it cost to get your tuna all prepped and dressed for consumption?
I detect raised hackles, and I'm out of here for now. Have a "fun" day everyone :-)
only one hackle, but we shall move on and let it pass
back to puppies and kitties
Who has raised hackles???
dogs and cats do:)) sticking with puppies and kitties
we didn't get any of the tuna besides the one the skipper filleted on the boat for us to eat raw
Apparently Crosshair and Diane think I'm upset. They probably forget that I was married to a Canadian and I'm well aware of misguided perceptions about Americans. I used to joke with my husband about it all the time.
ahh ok.was curios mael, because those things get massive
moving on.will not say anything about america.puppies and kitties
Aw, Molly's too much of a good sport to have raised hackles.
well,then,roll with it
*sprays styling mousse to tame fly-away hackles *
lol
And I have tons of experience with passive/aggressive behavior. : D
lol,now i am a clinical study:) eh?
make fun of my touque i dare ya
Time for more java. BRB.
yup, time for me to lurk or go do something till mollys paper on me comes out.hope i am in the new england journal of medicine:)).tc my fellow babblers

de5.20 is a newbie for me: add a short farewell
no idea what it means
I think I missed the exciting part of the chog. I wish something would reaise my hackles!
hi ruby, I must have missed it too.. was out mowing
they were talking about primitive eating
like with your fingers instead of a fork ?
looking for that de5; I have 2 others, but they don't end that way

I did not know the syphilis meaning.
No need to apologize Aloy. Hope your internet connection gets better.
lues is the old fashioned name for syph
I must not remember that from my past lives. Oh man, it is pronounced loo-ease. Now I feel sorry for all the women named Louise.
lol
there aint no shoestrings on Loise
beth
oops
hey kap - read your article, 'rats in a cage.' i work with women (and men) who are caught in the same cycle - thanks for posting it.
sheesh welki - again, missed the 'chat-cycle'
good evening all

only have 39 words and am wondering if I'm going to find any more. Hi Molly. I'm in the Bay Area for the next 10 days
welcome bichon - enjoy
Bich, it's official. 24 is back as a 12 part mini-series next May.
It's so chilly here. NOt that I'm complaining
Woot Molly. Kiefer is back in his real role
yes, summer in SF is cold.. won't warm up until end of August, then sept and oct will be gorgeous
I don't mind the chill and the absolute lack of humidity
ho 6?
not cold plus what u sleep in
tyvm ivesy

best use of a wal-mart that i have seen yet!!! yaaaa for texas!! http://tinyurl.com/oly7jp7
that looks cool. McAllen is a very poor high minority area in TX - great to see this placed there
yes.they did amazing work with this building:))
and of course, funny... everything being bigger in TX and all... America's largest library
there can never be enough libraries
many of the small towns i know are still using their old Carnigie libraries)
yes, lots here too... especially in the NE US
now there was a family that knew how to donate money
the Gates are surpassing that now... great causes, mostly public health
Bloomberg is getting up there as well
the one in our town sadly burnt in 1929 but we have a nice new greenspace library we built with public and private funds about 4 years ago
yes.Mr Gates is going lots of good
how did I miss that gl7 maximus?... ugh
here we have the Munk family doing great thing for medicine
ty,kje
the list makes me ashamed at times ; )
our library we are proud of.the cost was 10 million.it is 3 stories and a green roof for public use.it houses the coast guard, marine offices and town archives as well as the library itself.the govt gave two million and we raised the other 8 without a problem.it is the jewel of our town
ah, then there is Ayn Rand's hero John with an extra vowel in his last name
we were albe to close 4 other building that housed all of that.thing almost makes the town money now
nice, cross
okay, let's try this again - hi, folks :)
howdy,welki:)))
hi welk!
i would of never seen the gl7
that's because you're sitting on it
lol
how's that jeep working out? still loving it?
it is amazing,welki!!
kje, there was talk the other day about perhaps having a meet in martha's vineyard, where dorens goes every year. don't know if it's a pipedream, but thought you might be interested
common over!,i will take you 4x4 ing on blue mountain!
uhm, no thank you. you told me about elegant's white knucked adventure
co8?
that?? that was nothing.a 3 out of 10 on the crossy richter scale
to think over, kje
ugh
ty!
might be a 10 on the welki scale - *chicken*
never worry till it is right over on it's side
when we take the quads out in the winter, i wait at the bottom of the hills - small hills.
that's what they said to me on a sailboat - nothing to worry about until the railing hits the water. and then it hit the water.
and all jeeps come with a "oh shit!" grab bar right in from of the passanger
no worries anyways, welki,as i do not have the snorkel attachment on yet to bury it in rivers
<-- will have to modify the jeep so that, in addition to the 'oh shit' grab bar, it has an 'oh shit' i did facility
well.i think i can modify a port-a-pottie under the seat, but spashover may become an issue on steep inclines
hey, was that rocky12 person for real? any take on whether or not he/she was a troll?
i see the rock a lot.my take is about a 10-15 year old child
rocky*
thanks
FW!
yaaa for kje!!
sorry, but must run - happy babbling all!
WooT WooT WooT kje!! and hello babbleworld!
howdy ,jilly!
hey jilly! (and bye, kje)
Dear God...what a day...exhausted...TGIF!!
*whistles for the cabana boys - jilly's had a rough day, do your job, gentlemen!*
ahhhhh....TY welki! G&T please boys!!
i was in the mood for one of those last night - but no tonic in the house
hmmm - maybe i'll run out and get some

yeah, sounds like a plan - later, folks
crossy's famouse long island iced tea for all!! get them fats as they are only available till september!!

nbt/nbs...brain seems to be good enough despite day!
lol, remember, two of theese and you cannot feel your legs..brb,shower awaits
Okay...see you later crossy
Just settling in with a nice Friday night glass of chilled Chardonay & there's nobody here. :-(. I suppose I better start searching for words......
I'm nobody, who are you? Are you a nobody too?
Molly!! I AM that person in your profile pic!
Your icon is appropriately used at my youngest sister in law...she doesn't have time to check our family FB page, yet now she wants to ride out to Gillette with my boys next week...I am SO pissed at her..spoiled youngest child...
*off rant*
hello
Rant away, Jilly. :-)
y stats please?
NEVER MIND
lets try this one instead.. i on the 5th column stats please?
ye4/6 for top, yo4/8 for middle
5th column??
yes i as in igloo
Hi ML :-). How's Friday going for you guys? Its a holiday weekend here. No work Monday & I'm taking Tuesday off as well. AND, Son of Soodle is coming home tomorrow, AND the wine is delish... .... :-)
Hi sood i am bored but fine lol
Doesn't have time to check a family Facebook page? Seriously? That is pathetic.
<--addicted to fb
i will be bac
back
Yes, for instance, my B-in-l mom died, we aren't telling my M-in-law. But Mary "Has 4 kids and no time to check FB"..no communication makes everything more difficult.
I would throw the bullshit card at that. It takes minutes to check a Facebook page.
Soodle, your banks sure do take a lot of holidays.
And boys are taking my hybrid out to save on gas; there is not room in trunk for 4 people's luggage. Maybe she wants to pay the gas for our truck?
And not being computer savvy is NOT an excuse...my coworker isn't proficient but she said that same thing Molly.
My 85 yr old, early stages of Alzheimers, dear old Dad uses FB!
She's the youngest...world revolves around her!
okay...back to grid!
Wait, wait, she has 4 kids and no time to check Facebook, but she can get away for the week?
Molly. I'm chilling out with a glass of wine. Please don't rile me talking about Irish banks. In the olden days, highway robbers wore masks. Irish bankers are much worse than Dick Turpin & Co, and they don't even cover their faces. Grrrr
Okay Soodle, lets talk about Jimmy. : P
Whatcha wanna know Molls?
Flash in the pan? Steady thing? A little of both?
Hmm..... Searching for an appropriate description..... Lets just call it a slow boil...... I've known him for years. And don't think I didn't notice that you waited until I had a glass of wine before you brought the subject up... :-P
Ah, warmed up leftovers. Interesting.
*wine=truth serum=soodle tells all*
The Winer Tells It All
*truth incarnate* <-------
Reverend Ru to the rescue
*blesses everyone*
Oh boy!! Wouldn't I just LOVE to have something to confess to the Rev Ru....
Oh boy!! Wouldn't I just LOVE to have something to confess to the Rev Ru....
So good she said it twice..
*buys heavy duty rosary for soodle*
Don't be fooled. She is conveniently not mentioning lustful post pub stories.
I really hate this grid
Jimmy is a 62 yr old taxi driver. (There, the resemblance to Robert De Niro ends). He does not own a computer. He was fascinated last week reading the chat on Babble. He scratched his balding head & said 'Well! Holy God'. I rest my case.
Grinding through this one ruru
Is this the guy who was at the party with the pregnant girlfriend?
<---waiting with baited breath for soodle to answer
No no no no, Molly. That was Tony the dentist. Jimmy the taxi-driver is a different kettle of fish. There you go, Ru..... Plenty of pun fodder! :-)
*ties fingers*
<---steps on tongue
Hmm. Checks little black book for a chiropractor......,
*wonders if Jimmie has a rumble seat in the cab*
<---lost his virginity in a rambler
<---Refrains from feeding the meter jokes
<---Karman Gia....top that one!
LOL.. I was going there
Jilly is more limber than I imagined
And then they accuse Soodle of lowering the tone?????
<---still not sure about the gear shift...tee hee
tonality smonality
*well if you can't tell the difference jilly.. I don't know what to say*
:D
true dat!
Whistling innocently..... Hey Ru, what sort of a car was it that you were deflowered in? (I ask for a reason...)
Apparently Soodle doesn't know what a Rambler is.
a rambler.. fold down back seat... she was much older than me..
I think it's a car company that went out of business
My parents had two of them.
I didn't really care about comfort then.. like I do now :D
My mother's Rambler wagon was truly hideous.
Oh right! Question..... What do you call the wing mirrors on a Rambler? Answer: Footrests! Ba Boom!
well.. one thing is for sure
ROFLMAO!!
the car's shock absorbers were never the same again
missing a c.. damn
You know what? Being old & wrinkly & menopausal sucks, but at least I'll never have to compromise any car's shock absorbers again. And for that I'm truly grateful.
squeak squeak squeak as she went down the road
I confess to mostly lurking, but have clue for gl 7/44--buttock muscle: gl***** maximus
<-------------------!!FW!!
thanks lurker
yw :O)
Well, hate to finish and leave, but need to head out to airport...#2 son home soon and this family is together again!!
*poof*
Enjoy,((((Jilly))))
And, nice to see you delurking, Libarebel. :-)

Which 'L' or do you mean 'I' word?
the 'eye' word
The eskimo home?
as spelled by a heavy metal band?
No, as spelled by the Inuit people. Plural ends in a 't'.
Well I guess that makes me the ignorant philistine :-)
Not at all. One person can't know everything!
and now I learnt something cool today! thanks Jac
Y/w, dan2bit. I know mostly through Babble and also through loving the study of words.
Something cool. Nice pun there, d2b!
;-)
The great thing about Babble is that lots of people know lots of different things and, between us, we can get the grids done. :-)
I'm available for clue giving for a short while, if anyone needs it.
Good evening, all!
I assume those still searching have got ho6/30? A warm place to sleep or a place where gossip is rife.
Hi Sue.
hi Jacula! I am just starting (got about 20 words early this morning but then got busy)
That's always the way, isn't it, Sue?
so thanks for the ho6!
y/w!
I thought I might be less busy after I retired - I guess I am but am busy in different ways
I thought the same after I got made redundant. It doesn't work quite how you think it will, does it? lol
More money would be nice though!
indeed not!
yeah, I'm just hoping the state doesn't take away my retirement benefits, I am kind of counting on them
li7/44 - is the li5/16 verb form. Opposite of not dark. Li5.14 and li7/40 are the Scottish words for the same thing - think along the lines of 'it's a braw, bricht moonlit nicht'
got them, thanks!
I've found out that I won't get my UK pension at 60 or een 65 now. I'll be 66 - so a decade away - before I can claim it... if they haven't moved the goalposts again by then. :(
I could still get social security at 62.5 - which is in 3 months - but I will get more if I wait until I am older - have to start claiming it by 70.5 and I am hoping to be able to wait that long
ta5/12 = to tease in a nasty way. Ta7/36 is the past tense.
got those, thanks!
Must've been thinking about the UK Pension laws when I posted the last clues. lol
haha, I can see that :-)
ta6/37 - a fish - begins with the ta4 for tight and ends with the last 2 letters of a short word for a canine pet.
ty for the ta clue. I'm just starting and working my way down the first colun of letters.
hi gmere!
to6/24 and verb form to7/40 - means dressed in a roman way and follows on from the roman gown word to4/6 and Latin plural to5/14.
Hi Stid's Mum.x
Hi uu and jacula. Haven't seen you lately jacula, glad you are here.
Nice of you to notice and to say so, stidge!
ha, had the roman wear but not the variations, thanks!
un6/30 - not as neat as I would like! Describes my house right now!
This has been such a busy day that I am so happy to be able to sit and enjoy the Babbleland life.
It's nice to sit and relax, isn't it?
ya6/27 - apparently, it's a root vegatable.
Hello...
ok, I have nbs and nbt and am more than half way, I think I will declare victory and wander off
Today we got the chickens that we ordered in the spring. We were going to get half now and half in September but the farmer decided to combine the growing season and we got all of the chickens tonight. So where to put them? (Picture the boneless chicken ranch.)
hi jellen!
and gmere, these are live chickens?
Enjoy the wander of it, uu.
Oh, blimey, Stidge!
Hi Jellen.x
Sue - whatever suits you. x
No, dressed chickens, ready for the freezer. Our freezer wasn't that big so the farmer has put half of them in his big freezer.
suit and tie Stidgmere or just khakis?
Oh, that's easier then. lol
I thought you meant live chickens.
Lol, Ruru.
Well, kind of the bumpy, skinny kind of dressing. Sage would be nice in the dressing eventually.
People in oregon and Washington do dress up their chickens...
Maybe they were all in tutus and tuxes, and princess dreses an expecting to go to a party?
clown outfits, race car drivers.. witches, etc
I saw the magazine with the clothing on live chickens. Weird.
Raincoats, here in the great Northwest.
hi ruru!
Now we're going off into nether realms. lol
And I am glad you are not dealing with live chickens, gmere - not that I have anything against them but it sounds like a lot of work
hi sue
anyway now I really am off - see you all tomorrow!
You are right uu. Goodnight.
you have to wing it sue :D
I'm going to have to go off soon, too. Been here far longer than I intended. But that's Babble for you!
5 more mins to get any clue requests in!
by4/8 = 8 computer bits. Sounds like what an angry dog might do to you.
bi5/16 - Love this word! It's the thing that looks like a toilet and, when I went to the bathroom of a schoolfriend in the late 60s and saw my first one, came home and said, 'Mum! Diane's got a bum washer in her bathroom!'
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
Hi Min. Hope you are arriving with a clue story because I'm about to leave to get some sleep. xx
au4,6 and 5 are all relating to the relative that is your mother or father's sister.
No soty of clues today.I still have 6 more words left to find.
Need any clues before I leave, Min?
No thanks!I'm going to see if my monkeys will help me out.
Good Evening Everyone. I haven't had much time to Babble lately; things are pretty wild now with our son and family here.
Hi Jacula! Haven't seen you for the longest time!
Okay
Hi Nef - you just caught me.
Hello Nef! How are you doing today? Welcome to the chog.
how are you doing these days? And you too Min; I haven't seen you for a while either!
au4/5 - US word for a car. au6/24 - very dodgy verb or past tense form for that word.
thanks, Jac. I haven't heard that word since my Granma was alive! :-)
I live inland in UK but we have seeagulls here now. At one time the first bird you would hear heralding the dawn was a sparrow, followed by the blackbird. Then it was the blackbird, followed by the pigeon. Nowadays, the gulls get in first. It's very disconcerting to hear gulls inland when you've always thought of them as seaside holiday sound birds.
y/w, Nef.
I live about 1000 miles from any ocean and we have seagulls all the time (but then again, Minnesota has over 10,000 lakes.
ac4/8 - a bit like the breaky heart song. It is painful.
Her in UK you're never more than 30 miles from the sea, but gulls inland is a new thing within the past 4 or 5 years.
Really? That's so strange....
I guess the gulls go where the easy meals are.
OH! Speaking of birds; we had a bald eagle fly and circle over our house yesterday AM when I was on my way to an appointment. We only live 2 blocks from 1 lake (and have 4 others within 1-2 miles of us); but Bald Eagles usually aren't seen here in the city like that.
Gulls, ravens and jackdaws now frequent motorway cafes and then fly out to nearby places.
what would be the easy meals there for them?
I'll have to Google jackdaws. I've never heard of them.
Can't claim to have seen a bald eagle here! That's impressive Nef. Buzzards etc., here.
JACULA!!!!! *scatters choclits willy-nilly in haste to greet Jac properly*
(hey all)
and NEF!!! :-)
hi stid.
Easy meals for birds are places where food put in bins overflows or the food is on the ground.
hey Nef -- how's the summer going for you? Haven't seen you in ages...
Hi all!
I've seen that things are starting to go on the new house! WOOT!!!!
Hello stidmama! How are you doing today? Welcome to grid
Hi Stid. How's the new house foundation going?
nrk! :-D *cupth runneth overth*
It's going -- I think. The ground is scraped down to "virgin soil" and there were some boards lying around that I think will be the forms for the cement.
stid; our son, DIL and grandson moved in with us about 2 weeks ago. It's been --- interesting, shall we say?
so happy for you, stid!
Blimey, Stid! *Picks up scattered chocolate goods*
hi nrkii.
ugh, Nef -- WHEN my house is done, you are welcome to come visit and stay... it will be fully accessible for most purposes. :-) roll-in shower and all in the master bath, so drop by ANY time.
Hello nrkii! How are you doing today? Welcome to the grid
not that it's a bad thing you had the room for them, just that I know you'll need a vacation by then!
hey Min!
Hi mama. Thought you were otherwise occupied. Rose called with cancel Monday.
thanks Min... I'm good, how are you?
hello Mother -- I hope she is not unwell (again)?
So, stid - would you say the fire gave you freedom to start again or that you are doing the best you can since it happened? I ask out of interest, not any malice.
Thanks, stud. If we ever get out that far I'll let you know. I have a nephew in Tacoma area, but I haven't been that far in over 40 years.
I got to the party this evening, stayed long enough for my friends to see me and used the chickens as an excuse to leave. Left Matthew, Grant will go to his friends' house tonight, and there were lots of people hanging out.
Sitting here playing babble on my work laptop, while a stranger is accessing my personal laptop remotely to try to stop the blue screen of death crap that has been going on the last 2 days. Joy.
Hi nef and everybi ody--I'm back from 2 weeks in Vermont at our little lake, my granddaughter from Paris cme and it was sonderful. Nef, Konrad Lorenz worked with/observed jackdaws.
best I can, Jacula -- I was only just feeling I really had some equilibrium after the ordeal of grad school. It's not going to be my "dream house" but it will be lovely and it will be a good place to grow old in, and watch my already-mature garden continue to develop.
oh dear, nrk -- not fun.
hey RoundBarn! sounds like a perfect time!
Hi RB. I'm glad you had a nice vacation
At leat your Mum only talks to you on here and doesn't ring you up every 5 minutes to talk aout trivia, Stid. However, having already lost my Dad, I know that I must talk to her - however inconvenient it may be - because she won't always be around and, one day, I'm going to long to hear her voice.
Rose is fine, refrigerator is on its last legs. Replacement due Monday.
I would say, nef -- that it is time to renew that family connection. (imho, of course) AND there are some absolutely lovely museums in Tacoma now, as well as lots of excellent places elsewhere to visit. We would love to have you!
Glad she is okay -- we'll reschedule, yes? I need my Scrabble fix!
Stid - I'd be like you, I think, in being glad that my garden survived.
Looking at the following Monday. We'll talk this weekend, you and I.
LOL Jac! I love my Mother, we have such a great time together -- will post more pics from our recent trip to BC when I remember (my brain is mush these days). Glad you are there for your Mother, too -- it's a connection that is so important.
Aww, Jac. I'm sorry that you feel you must endure constant phone calls about nothing. My Mom dies when I was 8; so definitely cherish the calls.
I am doing well nrkii, but struggling with my last six words.
Nef, I'll email you tomorrow--been thinking of you. Just back last night--planes delayed so my writing group went right on without me--some I hadn't seen in a year.,
Yes, I will stop by tomorrow to fill my gallon bottles if I may? On the way to the garden...
Nef - exactly!
Hello RoundBarn! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
Actually, I have five words left so I will be asking for clues.
I'm off now. See you all next grid, perhaps. In the meantime, enjoy the grid. xxx
((Jacula)) sweet dreams and hope I see you again soon. I miss you!
bye jacula!
niters, Jac. Take care.

sorry abt the repeats--tjankyou, Min--I'm sorry you weren't in Burlington or I would have called. Maybe next summer. Two weeks without babble has weaned me away--so off to pay a dozen bills before bedtime. AArfh.

it left me feeling pretty raw
rofl hurshy
LOL, hurshy! I was wondering how much sushi a person could eat at a place like that
*giggle* i only ate one piece of the raw stuff, actually, anyway, i am a sushi wimp. i had appetizers and rolls and stuff mostly.
sushi rolls i mean. not bread rolls.
they don't have bread rolls.
Okay, my computer has now been fixed for the 3rd time in 2 days. Think this will stick?
*Fgners crossed for nrk computer*
I wonder how they could have such a place and make $$$. I would think that sushi chefs would cost a lot.
well, it's a regular restaurant too. not everyone does the all you can eat sushi part.
I am finished! I have fireworks! My final word was la 5/16.
I hope it's fixed for you nrkii. It would be a pain to have a computer not work on a weekend
It does NOT take a lot of time to make sushi rolls -- we used to make something like 12 rolls at a time for supper, Nef. What takes time is getting all the ingredients, and since they have lots of customers they can afford to set up multiple parts...
YAY min!
I will be here for ten more minutes if clues are still needed
Yay Min!
*scatters choclits and confetti for min*
so, um, does everyone know that SUNDAY at 2 EST the 12th DOCTOR will be announced on BBC AMERICA!
