I grew up on Walker Hook
ah, nice, have friends over there
We used to call it Hooker's Nook, because there was a women who entertained gentlemen friends while her husband was away
oh my!
I have one of my best friends that live down at Beaver Point, and my baby brother lives at St. Mary's Lake
hubby grew up here - went away to U and only visited occasionally until we retired to the old family farm
it wasn't really farmed in his time there but that was his dream
I love it over on THE island. I get quite homesick when I go and visit. I was born there
just dropping by to get started on this one, then going to bed... another small one, sheesh
please take a minute to pop in and say hi - I won't take time from your family, I know how prescious that is
I'm off to feed my dogs and cats. TTFN

no pains of right now :)
so good to hear.
Flosey hows the cold?
still with me but hopefully not for long
I read where you moved to the family farm, do you guys farm it---Has it broke(the cold)
hubby does - I just preserve or freeze produce
you have livestock too
no, no animals
had a dog but she just can't be replaced
mr flosey must be pretty fit, if he's still farming.
they did have cows when hubby was young - he had to milk them before going to school
how many acres, flosey?
do you have a produce stand that you sell from
we're on about 12 acres - the property was divided among the 4 kids - the other 3 have sold theirs
no we only sell if someone phones - hubby gets their order ready and they come to the door
12 acres is a considerable parcel of land. is most of it under cultivation?
I like farming, use to help my sister and her husband. We have a lot of amish that farms the old way here with horses and I love watching them
no, there's a creek running through, and quite a bit is heavily treed
ah I remember them from Kitchener/Waterloo area of Ontario
our house is at the back of the property with a hill behind that is all trees
your place sounds lovely
I must get a picture of a variegated holly tree that is just loaded with berries this year - behind the house
it's nice, quiet
I just love the old farmhouses with the wrap around porches
You have many fruit trees
we had this home built for us - to lock-up, then we finished it
yes many huge cedars, apple orchard - the old and also new
do you make apple cider for this time of the year
last year we were infested with tent caterpillers but in spite of them we had a bumper crop of apples - hubby worked hard at keeping them more or less under control
so how old were you then, flosey? was it before kids, or after?
many lost all their apples to the infestation
oh no, we retired here - raised our kids in Ontario
the 2 girls are now living in Vancouver and the 2 boys were settled in Ontario
my goodness, you and mr flosey are certainly the adventurous types, aren't you?
lol, well, perhaps he is
were you raised on a farm too
such a major life change to make...
it was always his dream to come back and live on this land and grow our own vegs and fruit
yup
with a few hens, you could almost be self-sufficient.
thats nice he got to fullfill his dreams
no, no hens but have neighbours who have stands so we buy our eggs there
or you could barter with your produce.
yes, he will be happy to just drop out in his garden - long after I'm gone that is
they probably grow as much as needed
how about you Flosey, did you want to make that change too
yeah, i guess so...when i was in my 30''s i had a dream of becoming self-sufficient. even looked at buying a horse and buggy.
I knew it was coming, so of course, he started teaching in BC and then we moved to Ontario where he taught for 30 years
so tit for tat
hi and nbt
g'day josh
we lived about 15/20 miles from my parents
and what happen Rose
hi gosh
Hi Josh
oh, sorry JOSH
* rueful face * divorce happened
ah, but you are very happy now rose
well its not too late for a horse and buggy
abso-jolly-lutely, flosey. i feel i have wa4ed all my life for this man.
horses need space and take a fare bit of care
what flosey said
i think divorce is becoming much less stigmatised as years go by
so true josh
the whole family unit is not as we had in the days gone by
i have seen great people get divorced, and horrible people get divorced. no subset of people is immune
josh, maybe in your and younger generations. for me it was the most horrible thing i went through. and then i didn't fit in any of the cliques at church.that almost undid me. i was female, divorced, with 3 kids. not what a 'good' anglican female should be.
I do understand that situation rose
yes i think generational change is the big factor, although religious communities are a bit different
they seem slower to come to grips with the changes
my now husband was in the same boat, male, divorced with three kids. but he was never ostracised.
men are forgiven transgressions many times quicker than women
especially in religious communities IMO
seems so, unfortunately
exactly, josh. no help for the woman....
sadly thats too true
bb in a bit
my beloved robyn was like a tigress when it came to defending me. she even shouted down our canon's wife, when she had the audacity to say that she was praying for a reunion with my ex and me.
ok Flosey
i could make a joke about henry VIII and divorce but i think i'll let that one go
good idea, josh...nah, mate. i have broad shoulders...let 'er rip.
Rose did you know it was coming or was it a shock from out of the blue
that is awful, rose. i hope you were able to find compassion somewhere
pugs, it was hard. kids and i were subjected to physical and verbal abuse for many years. i took out a restraining order against him. 3 weeks after he had left, i found out about his 2 year long affair.
oh gosh, that must have been so painful rose
how awful Rose--
guess the canon's wife wasn't aware of all the goings on
in my experience that wouldn't necessarily change things, flos
ah, it happens...and the old adage is true. the wife is the last to know. several people came up to me and volunteered the information, when they found we were separated. it nearly killed me.
there is this old-fashioned belief that women should stick by their men despite a whole litany of misbehavior
no, but for her to make such a comment about them getting back together - twas a blessing
but just think for a sec...look what i have now.
I'm sorry you've had hardships in your life rose, but I must say I an very fond of the end product.
morning Joso
awww joso, thanx mate. too sweet of you to say so.
so true rose, and yes, as joso says
hello everybodies
morning pug, good that you ar headache free
hey pink
hi pink
and hellooo pink
hi joso, flosey, grannyrose
I found out my first hubby was having a fling with one of my sisters and that was heartbreaking for me
Hi Pink
whats new around here
hey puglet
oh ouch, pugs, your own sister - that's a stab in the heart
holey smokes
Yes to say the least
oh yes, that would be very rough pug, betrayal on so many fronts.
awww, pugs. so sorry about that. * hugs a million* and heaps of butterfly kisses. an7 thing we have in common.
did you all go to the same church pug
thanks rose for the an7
do you talk with her?
ditto rose
We were raised in church as kids but I left that behind until I became older
yes, joso, i know.
Yes we talk and are very close now. I forgave her
wow, pugs you are a saint
wow that's gracious and loving
do you know how he ended up pug
on ya, pugs. what a shining example you set before us. thank-you
He died several years ago with a heartattack
well He says to forgive seventy times 7, dosent he?
you are the sweetest little pug in the world
but he didn't say it was easy
nah Joso, Ive made alot of mistakes myself along the way
no its not always easy
oooh, that sounds titilating
we all have pugs, lol, you rascal joso
:)
I guess that's being human
and that we are, pink
well there is a reason people watch days of our lives-as the world turns flossey
well Iam not one of those!
guess so, joso
ok pug, not meaning to insult you, even though i seem to manage without intent
I USE to be a big fan of the young and restless
lol
you didnt! at all
days of our babble lives
so it's not calling on soaps that is wrong, it's calling on the wrong soap, hehehehehehe
thats it!
anyone have an 8 yet
have one, let me find it
don't know about you lot, but my life's story is called days of the drearies.
wa8 starts with wa4, then 6, 6, 8
awesome flosey ty
an8, an6, flower part + ego
and I think the 8 is a bit far fetched
lol Rose
at8, a + what some people do on their phones. starts from topa
so Joso does those soaps fit your life style then
wa8 is just the sort of girl I'd like to date
ty granny rose
still looking for wa 8
en8, en + ***a*er, movie house + In Charge
you mean wi5, Joso lol
I wish my life was that exciting, bit too much of a chicken to ever cheat.
wa8, wa4, need + not off + **, um, i don't know
no joso, not chicken, just a good guy who wouldn't
joso, were you named after your dad?
the reason I ask, my brother has a friend by same name
lived in the Toronto area
wi5, not shallow of me I'm sure, but not looking for particularly wide girls
yes, thats why I grew up being called by my middle name, rather than junior, for wich I sincerely thank my parents
hmmm, Mother Lois by any chance
oh, so your middle name IS brat?
no, dorothy but called bunny by all
roflol...
lol, not same one - wouldln't that be funny
makes her sound a bit more frivolous than she was
oh, sorry, that was your mother's name....you weren't being facetious.
when my mom was a babe her older sister got her first look and said oh what a funny bunny
interesting how these names stick throughout life
all my cousins still call me lolo but sis & bro outgrew that
it is, i think of myself as JoSo now
yeah, one of my bros is known as ahfoo, as his younger sibs couldn't say andrew
and don's sister is known as fang...
lol love it fang
oh dear, that isn't so funny
my mother's mother was known as bama to her grand kids, except to my middle brother, who referred her as the orangutan
omg joso poor thing gramma orang lol
I can see the bama I use to call my grandmother damdam
poor woman, as she aged the similarity became stronger and stronger
oh, joso, too funny. that reminds me, same bro called our mother jabba the hutt for years. she thought it was hysterical. but she has never seen any of the films.
hehehehe
bless her innocense
grannyrose I can not even find that en word in the scrabble dictionary
and my father, when they were getting ready to go out, used to say, here's your bag, hag...and she never once heard the last word.
it means induced without, as by innoculation.
ty will try that
en + ***re, not here + spasm
thanks rose, also needed that one
did that make more sense?
ty I will keep trying lol
and if you drop the en, you get a t6 word
had that one
tnx rose
pink, on the end, instead of spasm, try ***k, not cross for wrong answer
ok tyty
need a clue for an6 and 8 please?
an6, an*, picnic pest + not him. add ego for an8
ty got that one lol
tyty rose - must look up that 8, sound odd
haha, no description given
notthinking here and best go to sleep ty all and be well
but if you add ia to the end you get reproductive bit for moss.
awww, sweet dreams, pink. i hope you awake refreshed.
night Pink
it is a plant dingus flosey
g'night pink
ah, thaks joso
goodnight Pink
also need the last an6/24 - clue please?
sorry flosey, don't have it yet
an6 for a cup of tea?
Coffee please - and hi :)
or an + sometimes vowel + number before two
hey up liz
now your comment make sense, yes, I'd love a cup of tea
Hi there, Rose - did the doc have anything interesting to say?
can't have coffee this late
Not 6 pm yet! Almost though!
12:47 here
she has given me a certificate for an7 4 weeks. appointment with workcover orthopod next tuesday.
am that is
Def too late for coffee! Tea too!
Opinion about the virus?
tea use to put me to sleep
Hi Liz
So a lady of leisure for an7 4 weeks - hope you're able to make the most of it!
Hi again Pugs
oh, she seems to think given time it will all settle. we are pretty sure it has been influenza b.
It's been pretty nasty but I guess enforced rest will help.
How are your eyes today?
actually they are better, thanx. were bad this AM. but not now. interesting.
Hayfever? I know I'm suffering at the moment - eyes pretty weepy and it4y in the am.
oh was it today you went to doc? I thought that was tomorrow
Was surprised you hadn't asked Pugs - now I understand!
It's the odd time differences - here it's already Tuesday afternoon.
pugs went to my own doctor today. next tuesday workcover's surgeon.
Iam sorry Rose--duh me!
np's pugs
well it dont take much to mess up my brain--lol
The time differences can be very confusing when someone says tomorrow, so I guess for us, Ru's birthday is today!
did the doc have anything to say about the knee swelling?
ues Liz, he said 47 minutes to - which would have been midnight at the time
well she wasn't impressed in a good way. am going to put a double layer of compression bandage on tomorrow.
BBL - photo book to work on - hugs to all :)
self torture?
are you still wearing the brace Rose
bye Liz
yup....so totally over it...
well it dont seem to be helping much
bye liz, have a good evening
pugs, it's only purpose now is to keep the knee stable so that i can walk around.
dinner will be ready soon.
whats on the menu tonight?
I fixed a big pot of veggie soup last night
canneloni filled with ricotta cheese, napoli sauce, on the side some roast lamb.
eat hearty mate, i think I'll go back to the grid for a while
ohh that sounds good
later Joso
catch you all at the flip. hugs and kisses to all.
does anyone have a clue for at8 please?
ok rose, hugs and kisses back, enjoy that supper, sounds good
bye Rose, hugs back and enjoy
flosey, at + *h**e, not black, + ***m, part of the school year
*poof*
oh now I do feel dumb but thanks rose there are a few words ending in that way
have 62 words to go, think I'd better get to bed, am sure they'll still be here in the morningh
good night Flosey, hugs and sweet dreams
thanks pugs and you, when you're ready
thanks Flosey
heading out so bye to anyone here. Joso hugs and hope to catch ya tomorrow
good morning all
hi sprite, running late today
hi joso, yeah, slept in. My children had the first 2 hours off. How are you?
I'm well, how about you, sleeping well if nothing else
am pretty ok. Group went well yesterday. I felt like I had done a bad week of eating and they said not at all, very good actually, and not to look only at the bad spots.
oh, and I am free of the butter thing :) The dietician said I am doing fine with the vitamins and omega oils, that it is not worth stressing over and that I certainly should not eat something I hate. Seems digestion is off for stuff you really hate.
well that's very heartening, one does tend to do that, let the failures overshadow the successes
yes and I am such a perfectionist. I really had to be told to tone it down. Good enough is good enough.
bonus
bonus?
no butter/margarine on top of doing better than you had realized
ah, indeed :) Yes, quite a relief. I told her I will try it later on in the treatment, and she was happy with that.
but I think you are missing out, a really nice bread with a bit of good butter is one of my favorites, but to each his own. some swear by raw oysters, and I think it a truly disgusting dish.
de gustibus etc... we can't argue with people's tastes and disgusts.
and how are you yourself, joso?
I am doing ok. i decided to ride my bike for my exercise today, went out and to the bike on some kind of autopilot, came aware when i couldn't find the place to put my keys. subconscious must have registered 'travel' and got the keys from my pocket, selected the car door key, and kicked it all up to my conscious mind when it couldn't find the keyhole, lol
lolol oh I can see you do that :D Could have been me.
we are having almost non-stop rain, have been going on for days and no end in sight yet. Am gonna ride my hometrainer today :)
do you ride outside sometimes?
yes, we have recently acquired an old bike for me and I ride to the raiway station and sometimes to the shops on it, and to the doctor and diabetes nurse.
thats great, you seem to be gaining some confidence in facing the world, and real bike riding is so much more interesting than stationary bike.
yes, I think you are right about that. Have visited Amsterdam's famous street market by myself too. Couldn't have done that a year ago.
so so happy for you sprite
thanks joso :) The friendship of my dear babble friends helps a lot!
nice when you can start to see tangible results for hard work.
very rewarding. Took quite some years of therapy to make it happen. But happen it does ;)
well, we cheer and encourage, but it is you that is doing the heavy lifting.
the kids started to fight again last night, btw. Caya is seeing one of the therapists today and I wrote to him about it, hope he can shed some light on the mess. Tim is threatening with violence again. The ass.
hehehe joso, but cheering and encouraging makes me want to do the lifting, and keeps me at it when it gets tough.
well I'm going back to the grid got a few words left.
ok, good luck finding them! Wtg on the biking thing and getting fresh air and exercise at the same time. I hope you had a fun ride.
ai e
sorry
Good morning/evening :)
hi smores :()
lol that was :)
:D hey sprite

me too :) Such a feeling of freedom. And you, smores, how have you been?

howdy crossy et al
howdy,aloy
while we were flying, the doc cancelled my procedure; did not get the message as my cell was not working and the home phone message machine was full.. but fortunately i found out before drinking the "stuff"..
ahh that is well at least
what, "hottie" is no good?, hmmmph
if you are talking about the gallon of nasty green peglyte
yes indeed
but mine isn't green, same stuff
they have a small powder packet you can take with 8 oz of water but they warn of a 10% chance of kidney issues when you opt for that
FM's favorite word is in the grid
well, today I have an office appt. with my old doc .. love that guy.. will see what he says
crossy misses FM
oh ty Annie! and hi
hi crossy and Aloy
Aloy missed FM
howdy, annie
and still misses her
I miss her too, she was a lovely person
ha, finally found the final J that is similar to the Subway Guy
i have a ct scan lined up for this morning then a long day at school
ooh, busy day crossy
sending good thoughts your way, crossy
nothing heavy, annie i herniated 3 disks in my neck ten years back and now they are becoming an issue
ow crossy
ouch
i get neck pain and that pulling sensation down my arms and legs of late so we best take a peek
Oh, crossy, one more movie on Netflix for you....Twilight. Great film noir type with Paul Newman, Susan Sarandon, Gene Hackman and James Garner....really good one.
15 left for later, bye babblers
twilight?? ewww
oh a different twilight
Careful about what you do for that problem, crossy. I hate two back surgeries and wish I hadn't.
some big names
i know the risks well, mimi.i am weighing the options very carefully
LOL...you don't actually think I would have recommended the other Twilight?!! Kristen Stewart can't act her way out of a paper bag....She only has two expressions...sad and more sad.
i had a friend,he had 4 disks in the neck giving issues.he waitied till it got to the point where he was limping and his feetwwere turning inwards and had the surgery.he came out of it needing 2 canes for the rest of his life
Mimi, I'll email you .. we will be in Phoenix Nov. 22-Dec. 3rd... maybe we could get together?
I'm sure there are better options available and know you'll find them.
there are therapies i can do like the chin strapwith counterweights to relieve pressue on the disks and some exercises.but in the end i will waittill i am crawling on all fours before i let them play with my spine
Fabulous, Aloy!! Would love that! Yes, email me and I'll give you my phone number. What part of Phoenix will you be staying in?
south mountain
yaaa a babbler get together!
That's about 30 minutes from me. I don't think moonwoof will be back by then..she would love to join us. Someone else is going to be here around that time but I can't remember who...senior moment.
well, Babblers who read the FB page may see it if I post a call for Phoenix area Babblers..
well,i must head off.time for CT scan.tc my friends and have a good day
((crossy)) You have a good one, too.
hope your tests turn out well, crossy.. tc
In any case, Aloy, you and I can have a great visit.
righto! was in the kitchen, popping a bagel into the toaster..
I must be going. Back later. Hugs. I'll look forward to your email, Aloy!
hagd, Mimi.. I'll be in touch soon
Good day to all.
Hi Scrabbler!
onion bagel with neufchatel if you are interested
I just mixed plain Greek yogurt with walnuts and raspberry jam.
that sounds delicious
no hottie, no reich.. I'm striking out
yum, scrabs!!
No wittier
add a consonant in front of that second word aloy
phantom: recite
good morning everyone
hey river :-)
It's my usual breakfast, Une--plain Greek yogurt + nuts + jam or fruit.
hi River!
Hi RD
Aha, TY, River.
what a beautiful boy in your picture Une
one of my favorites too, scrabs!
oh wow, ty River
I agree, river -- and the small female yellow lab who also rode with me thought he was the bee's knees! :-)
I have 41 words left and am stuck
I will be losing my black lab very soon and will miss her terribly
ooohhh so sorry . . .
But I expect to have visiting rights
Oh, no, River. That is agonizing.
I will be looking for a new companion soon - thinking about getting a couple of kitties.
I have never had cats before but if I want to get away for a day or two I can do that with a cat
*squeal*
eeny, strike three
but add a consonant before that.......
hey alloy :-)
eeny meeny miney moh I can't spell and that I know
lol
got the itty bitty word, River.. hi Une (-:
what do the 8's start with?
if she hollers make her pay, 50 spellchecks every day :-)
don't have any of them, River.. brb, need more coffee for sure!
nice Une
:-D
found 1 at 8/60 - now have NBT and NBS with 37 to go
Hiya, Babble buds!
Hi Judi
hi Judi
hey judi :-)
TY for at8 hint
.. back, g1 Une, brings to mind hopskotch, jump rope, marbles, pick up sticks.. do kids do those things now a days? Hi Judi!
jumprope for sure
a local elementary school here just banned Tag
wow -- had heard some had banned dodgeball
Now kids play videogames and have cell phones when they are 6.
we got beat up in dodgeball but it was a favorite
Tag? What the hell is wrong with tag?
yes here too and I can amost understand that but Tag...really? Its because of the touching.....
oh groan
Shut. Up.
noooooo
my kids loved dodgemall - they still play it here in our high school but I had to sign a permission slip for my son to play this year.
Nope....it was just on the news this week - touching is not allowed at recess - so I guess no one can push anyone on the swings either....
What about baseball and softball. You have to "tag" someone out sometimes. On the up side, hopefully they'll ban square dancing.
lol, you didn't like the dosey doh?
snort.....
I could never understand how square dancing made it into gym class.
allemand left and away we go! hee haw
and no more clap-touching? . . . my boyfriend;s name is tony -- he comes from a town called bolony . . . ????
aww, that would be criminal indeed
I really need to get back to work but this is too much fun....
some parent must have complained about Tag....and looked what happened.....
I must get ready for my day too. Shop for my mom, bring stuff to her house, then play with greatnephew for a few hrs. High of 70 degrees here today!
I know.. I have to go too, an appt. and I don't think "babble" will be a good excuse to miss it.. ciao for now, all.. poof
good day Aloy
bye aloy
alright - you all are making me feel guilty about getting paid to babble so if I must go.......poof
Lol. We used to play a game called "smeer the queer" at recess. Basically, whoever got the ball, got smeered (tackled). That would so be a no-no these days.
jeezomeex judi!
ok need to get goin' too -- good to see everyone! bye
Snowball fights... it was good to blow off steam like that.
And - we had archery in gym class in high school. God forbid! Weapons!
We played maul ball at recess. I bet that doesn't go over anymore.
I remember the boys playing "buck-buck". That was a broken neck waiting to happen.
Only the boys? I played buck-buck.
When you think about it, what the hell CAN kids play at recess with the "no touch" rule in place?
Chess?
Follow the leader? Graffiti the school?
D2-D4
you can still play on the swings
I guess they all stand around playing Angry Birds on their cell phones. And no Hursh, playground equipment has been deemed too dangerous too.
oh, weird.
we used to play chinese jumprope, you don't have to touch in that
and we'd play house in the roots of the trees, no touching there either
hopscotch
regular jumprope
catch
jacks
Marbles.
Hola hoop.
Hello all and yet they will expect these "no touch" kids to play football or rugby when they are older ??
Hello, Ursh :-)
It's kind of sad. Kids are so sheltered and pampered these days.
may I add something to this conversation?
by all means, speak your mind snags
and good morning everyone
just an observation really. I think our kids and parents are out of control. Parents have no control over their kids, and the kids know it.
that was an akward
that was a a dumb sentence .............
well. luckily, some are still ok. my sister & her husband, for instance, are doing a fabulous job with my niece & nephew.
so is my daughters boys. they are polite, kind and great kids.
so there you go. all is not lost.
no, but they are an exception, not the rule.
i sorta think really good parenting has always been hard to come by, always, in the whole history of the world
many people weren't, as mary vance put it, brought up, they just sorta come up
phantom: honey
Some, as my mother would say, are dragged up
indeed
Snags, I see what you are talking about almost every day and it's sad.
ren would be upset that cheets is not accepted...
Cheets? I don't get it.

geez molly, cna't you read owlese by now? :P
I didn't think it was a typo. So many people here make up their own words for things.

They have started developing touristy type places along one of the rivers - big deal for their culture - used to only think of rivers for transportation. Hi dan2bit! How are you doing today? Welcome to the grid
I am well Min, and you?
hey dan. . . you made me proud with your standing up for DC . . .
at least i think that was you
tantric is my phantom (hi all)
hi book
I am doing well dan2bit.I'm glad to be here. Babbling time during the week has become quite scarce for me recently.
honey is mine book
Hi Book Doctor Gwen! How are you doing? Welcome to grid
it was me, jmc! :-)
i keep seeing honey, too, and it's making me hungry
hiya min!
nbt
Phantom words for me today are entree, honey and winter.
i am surprised how many otherwise compassionate people just don't get it about how badly a few words in the Constitution have impacted DC
i thought so dan but i get confused sometimes with the various personas
it doesn't cross their lives so they don't see it
exactly
i was walking down the street one day and a couple of tourists were commenting on the license plates and speculating what no taxation with representation meant. . .
so i told them. . .
Are you two talking about something that happened here, or on Facebook?
that is why whenever i fill out a form i cross off the word state. . .
i posted on fh the fact that our public school teachers weren't going to get paid because of the damn government shut down. . .
do not get me started on this topic!! lol
a couple of my friends (including stiddy and dan2 bit and some from Texas) commented
Funny icon MollyL!
well i just want people to understand why we need a state of DC
any way i have to get up early and i got my nbt so i think i will leave. . . don't let me start anything. . . .
bye all
no argument from me, jm
i know book. . . thanks. . .
*poof*
anyway, as someone born and raised in DC, it's a soapbox I find hard to resist getting up on :-)
the constitution was designed to be changed -- so it's just not such a big deal when something happens that causes us to need to change it
and actually, it's only indirectly the Constitution itself. The law in question is "The Residence Act", passed by the first US Congress in 1790.
those "strict constructionists" should bear that in mind
it's kind of fascinating - the real problems for the District have come from provisions in the Act about whose laws should prevail during and after construction of the city, and precedent that Consitutional references to "the States" should implicitly exclude DC
anyway, don't get me (re)started...
If it makes sense to fix a problem, do not expect our purported representatives to agree.
hello, all. great film noir tonight "suspense" - at local art museum
good evening!
howdee o-o and TO
good point o-o :-) it also doesn't help that the city itself is so full of Democrats that even a functional GOP would not want to see us get voting representation in Congress
hi gwen
yeah, they (the crap-headed ones) are no longer representatives, they are "representatives"
someone get me a really big broom . . .
Hello phandmd! How are you doing today? Welcome to grid
hope people stay angry through next November, BDG
I am ok. Tired. You, Min?
Feeling about the same as you phandmd. I'm ok, but tired.
