nice clue, ru
ap7 - 1. a type of reproduction, occurring in some ferns, in which the sporophyte develops from the gametophyte without fusion of gametes 2. the development of a diploid cell in the embryo sac of flowering plants into an embryo without being fertilized
ty
I think ap7 sounds like marriage between gorillas
Good to know, Jilli. Now I just have to work on Ru's clue!
marriage or a gorilla cult
ru's clue has the wrong last letter but it sounds the same
if it's marriage will the kids be a chimp off the old block?
boo
Good clue! Have the word but the marriage clue helped too.
lol - good one ruru

night dee
man is it cold outside.. wheeew
Ru, I seen on the news last night that you guys were in for a nasty cold snap--Is that unusual for you
and it snowed today -- just a dusting
we have been having sleet for about eight hours now
that was red box time -- seems to be happening quite regularly at this hour
in the 50s here... where is this snow y'all keep talking about??
nd hi
so far we have only been getting the sleet and Hi jbp
46 to go and I'm sleepy. Got to do lots of stuff tomorrow -- supposed to be sunny but below freezing.
this storm isnt to end until sunday
night Jilli
So goodnight all...*poof
nite jilli
it isn't too unusual pugs.. but it's colder than normal .. we've been enjoying incredible weather this year until now
night jilli
wow, left for a few minutes and came back to a full page of red boxes
so THAT'S where y'all were,,, it got awfully quiet here
I thought you guys liked it when I talked to myself :D
Our sleet has just ended and now huge snowflakes are falling
oh boy
I'm so glad I don't live in the snow
we had a light sprinkling of snow today
wow....
if it's gong to be cold, the least it can do is snow
they are saying 9- 12 inches by the time this storm is over
well if it were to rain.. we'd have snow for sure
12 inches isn't that bad is it pug?
depends on the wind and how much it drifts
oh.. yeah i bet
ok, how is no one else going south mentally at least, in this conversation...
south to where?
being out in the country is a little worse then in town or near a main highway
mexico?..I like my head where it is :D
am i the only one who cracks up to hear something like, 12 inches isn't that much, etc./// or am I the only one snickering out loud
I was afraid of that right after I wrote that
thank goodness; I was afraid I was the only one...
hey.. you're talking to RU here :D
I didnt want to open the pit
lol. whew, all is right with the babbleverse
it would have been worse in Metrics :D
it usually is
I get the feeling that pugs thinks i have a very sick mind
a. you say that as though it were a bad thing, and 2. it's not only pugs
heh
sorry, I'm a little punchy this evening
not REAL sick! But I have seen the pit quite deep a few times here-lol
...ouch...
oh you have no idea pugs.. I am very pg around here
but it makes chat interesting at times and you cant help laughing at you at times either
and even sometimes with and not at. ;-)
It's so weird .. i'm not trying to be funny :D
true jbp
and with that, and nbt, I shall be satisfied for this evening (heh).
like my serious goat icon and all
nite all!
well Ru look at your icon, that alone makes you laugh
night jb.. thanks for the laughs
night jbp

someone posted on facebook yesterday--DO NOT PUT LIGHTS ON A PALM TREE! Someone did and it look a huge red penis-lol
and heee-rreee's grannyrose...home again, home again, jiggedy jig
ALRIGHT! so happy for you! hugs and Hi Rose
yeah!!! and on a serious no4....no4, can't think of a serious no4. just plain happy to be home...
did you get your big breakfast? That by its self makes you feel better
And we are just happy to have you at home.....you had a lot of positive stuff going to you.
nah, hun. but all okay...i don't really need it.
Hi Peach, how are you today
hey peach, that is probably why i am home after only 4 days...
Hey there, puglet,....I'm OK this evening.....had vertigo really bad last night. How are you?
now to do what you need to do to heal and you are all set!
*giggle* you have no idea how many sets of eye-brows i saw disappear into the respective hairlines. seems lie all expected me to stay another 2 days.
How is MIL doing, rose?
Iam good Peach--sitting here waiting out this storm. We have had about 8 hours of sleet and it just turned to show about 30 minutes ago
Apparently my "free 14-day trial" just expired. Didn't realize basic things like word count and stats were a Pro feature...lol How many words are there tonight??
not good peach. grandchildren have been to see her this afternoon. unconscious now. and i have just had a horrible thought...what if she's waiting for me to say good-bye.
128 and Hi YV
thanks :)
Well it might be true Rose
Hi there, Yvooria. 128 words tonight. Not a bad grid like yesterday's.
Glad I missed it then :)
Are you afraid to do that?
welcome, yvooria. i am not sure we have met. such a lot is happening over here.
I used to be a neighbor of Peach (in the real world) ;)
no, pugs. have already told DH i will go to the hospital tomorrow.
are you able to do that Rose
Rose, Yvooria is a great friend of mine. I am glad she likes Babble.
ah, yes, of course, yvooria. babble isn't the real world? oh, dear, i think i'm in trouble.
pugs, will load up with analgesia, and take others with me.
lol - i know it seems like most of my world is virtual these days...
Mollie better?
Just take care Rose, you dont need anymore setbacks
I think so - sent you a note - the vet was so nice and personally called to check on her today
That was nice, indeed.
Will check email....brb
Hi all :)
hey ya liz
Howdy again Liz
Thanks, you are so sweet. Do you have someone to watch them, perhaps you've told me and I forgot.
Hey Rose - just read about your MIL! So sorry to read that. Hugs - not a good time of year for you and Don.
hey all
ah well, hun. i am looking forward to 2014...have a gut feeling that it will be our year.
Hi Joso
HI YA Sir Joso
whoot!! hello, oh, lord and master. your harem awaits your command.
feeling less sore Joso and more rested
So glad though to read that you're home, Rose. So much better to have your own things around you.
our property manager's son will come (with parents) to check on them.. (only $5 a visit!) wish we had a live-in but that requires a rare relationship - plus hard to find at Christmas..
liz, not ready to classify DH as a thing, but i catch your drift...lol
Hes your thang Rose! lol
I will also set up my security camera so I can check on them for peace of mind whenever I want
LOL Rose - aren't men things, playthings, that is?
well...he is my toy boy...lolol
Yvooria, that sounds like a good deal. Is the yard fenced in?
how are you doing Liz
yes, privacy fence
most civil of greatings mizz lizlin, HI YA dame pugalot, whaaa-hooo harem toy number 23
Thant's good.
Hi there, joso.
Sounds good to me, Rose. And as usual, pugs, all's fine here.
hey peach
23??? that's all i rate??? you better be ready to duck...
Meant to sat 'that's'.
How's the new place, Joso - getting used to it?
just what I was thinking 23!
Men! Boasting as ever. 23 in his harem??????
mostly I like it liz, in the midst of operation shoehorn
hey!!! thatmakes me the last, liz...hmmpf
Hopefully, like good shoes, it'll stretch. It'll become a Tardis.
Don't think so Rose, unless he thinks (probably correctly) that DH takes up most of your time!
as the harem is virtual, that is to say 90% imaginary, it is very large, I also have an unlikely stanima
Growing by the minute, I'd guess!!!!
and 23 is very high in the ranks indeed
Good rating then, for Rose :)
brb
thats just what Ru said and never did return
I'm sure he will - just not sure when!
brb
How's your sister doing, Pugs?
she is really doing good so far(knock on wood)
Hope it stays that way. Thoughts with you :)
thank you Liz
Are you headache free today?
yes! havent had one for two days straight
Excellent - perhaps Sprite was right and you were affected by pressure from the storms brewing.
That and things being better with your sister, so less stress.
I started adding a low dose asprin daily and I dont know if that is helping or Iam just on a lucky streak here
Had to turn heat up.....it was in the 70's today but a cold spell is on the way.....we are supposed to get the tail end of that bad swath from the midwest this week-end
Doesn't matter why or what, pugs, as long as you're feeling better.
Keep warm, Peach :)
I was thinking Peach that you might get some of this weather that is hitting us
Yvooria, have you heard from your MIL about their weather lately?
LOL - you know know how funny it is that you just said that
Gotta go - will be back later but possibly not til after you've gone. So have a good night and catch you soon :)
Thanks, Lizlin.
I was just going to tell you that I know ALL ABOUT your georgia weather today because she kept contrasting it to our 18 degree weather :)
night Liz
You too, Liz.
Hugs all (and hi and bye, Yvooria)
hugs back Liz
ah, just went for potty break...while away DH added a few more cushions to chair i was using. the higher seat has made all the difference. * sigh * there's nothing like a good man, is there?
You are so blessed Rose
rehi, back
Hi again and wb Joso
it's a content rivalry in weather :)
constant, rather
wb, joso
may I have a clue to the fi 5-22
good to see you in good spirits rose
Do you suppose it is to say, "Y'all come"?
pugs uses high point tile
most certainly. the thing is, I really like 4 good seasons. It's supposed to be cold at Christmas. And who appreciates spring if they had a mild winter?
ty Rose, got it
joso, am feeling so good about being home. pain levels way down, compared to last year.
yw, pugs
That is true, Yvooria.
great, tnx for my first word rose
How are your Mom and Dad? I haven't been on FB for a few days.
mom had knee surgery today
how long you been home Rose
huh??? joso?? you just starting out??
and your storm pugs, about half done and you have not been swept off to oz yet
just over 2 hours pugs.
just woke up rose
yvooria? what sort of surgery, hun?
Oh, I will certainly be praying for her. Is she still in the hospital? Must be, don't think they would do an out-patient for that would they?
the snow has just started this morn, we had 8 hours of sleet
it actually was outpatient - tear in her miniscus, I believe... not replacement
Oh, I see.
hope she feels better- know it was awfully painful since about Feb
yeah, that is usually day surgery, yvooria. still can be quite painful. make sure she ices it regularly.
Ah, I'll tell her
hope your mom weathers it well yvooria
my little doggie is getting knee surgery too, next month :)
Whoi?
emma and her luxating pitellas
so you seem quite rational rose, they not giving you the really good pain meds
Oh, bless her little heart.
Did the Vet say what caused it?
she needs it too - not in pain but you can hear the crepitis when we walks on carpet.... crunch crunch crunch
*giggle* now if you had asked me 2 days ago....am now on 4 different pain meds. hoping to cut out at least one over the next 2 weeks.
AWWW!
it's probably because she's so bow-legged, poor dear :) Can't keep those kneecaps in place.
yeah, they're not going to win any prizes in their breed, but we love' em both to death. :)
I really miss them. You and Rob too. But I will take what I can get......I love the pictures you post.
what breed of dog do you have YV
two cocker spaniels
We miss you too :(
thats a nice breed---what color are they
I've got a tri-color and a parti - mainly chocolate
Puglet, they are so very smart....Mollie, can turn the light switch off and on.....and does whatever they tell her to do.
so to clarify, MOLLIE is very smart. Emma is just so darn cute :)
ahh, she must be very smart
And Emma, is smaller but she is the one who takes care of Mollie....won't let any other dogs play with her.....she is so very cute.
is that what you have too Peach?
No, I have two rescues......one is mostly hound and the other is, well, partly terrier.
how have they been, Peach?
They are not nearly as smart as, Yvooria's. But they can out-smart me.
saying good-night to my friends. see you all tomorrow. xoxoxox
goodnight rose, rest well
night Rose, hugs
g'night!
Well, it has been a constant fight to get them to go outside to potty because the ground is wet.
Sweet dreams, Yvooria.
oh, i was saying it to granny
Sweet dreams to you, Rose.
Oh, I see now.
Rose has had a really rough time with her knees. I am so glad she had the surgery.
my dogs were terrible about going potty in the back when we lived in NYC
i guess it was because we had so little grass there
(when it rained, I mean)
Probably.
My pug is going to have a shock when she hits the deep snow for the first time-lol
is it her first time?
I wish my neighbor would take one of them, at least, for a walk.
is she young, I mean?
yes, with snow this deep---we didnt have much the last two years
aagy
she is 3
it's so cute to watch a dog in the snow for the first time
I have a great dane, pug and a boxer
sorry.....rolling to PB ....toss some choclits my way.
love love great danes
I know! and she hates having to go potty in the rain
all three of my dogs are rescues too
who didn't want the dane?
my great dane(Beulah) is afraid of the pug-lol
That is funny, puglet.
my friend's great grand daughter got her as a pup and wasent allowed to have her at her housing and she was on the way to the pound so we took her
worked out well for you
I was a boxer and pitbull person and I had lost both of mine in the same year due to old age and I wasent really looking for another dog at that time but she fell into my hands and it has worked out well
well, it's that time for me. happy friday, everyone!
night YV
Yep, me too....beginning to nod off. Once more, Sweet dreams, Yvooria.
night and hugs to you Peach
And you, as well, puglet.
night Yv, rest easy peach
Thanks, hon.
Thanks so much, joso.
;)
good morning
Morning Ruby! hugs
although it was predicted, "It's too cold to snow" (conventional wisdom)
hello litte pugs (nd big hugs)
its in the twenties here and snowing
it's sunny and bitterly cold
I haven't read over the chog yet. Is Sprite OK? I saw a horrible storm surge preduction for the Netherlands on TV
hope you dont need to go out then
Shes not been on yet Ruby--I got a email from her in the evening yesterday and it was storming but she was fine--hope shes okay now
quick half
how much snow are they predicting, pugs?
that was quick--w2g
9 to 12 inches and another 2 monday maybe
wow, can you get your car out?
we had 8 hours of sleet--so the ground was covered with that and then the snow started
no--but I had went to town and got prepared for this
smart
75 words but still need the 7 and the d
we have a school bus driver on our road so as soon as they can get out they will be plowing

thanks angel :)
good morning everyone:)
Hi Cross
what's new and exciting down under, liz?
Hi All :)
Wow - Cross can see you even before you appear Liz.
lol,i meant lynxx,my bad
You beat me to that comment, Lyn!!!
and i know that a pb offense
just teasing Cross - quite a few people have done that
Love the tawny frogmouth pic, Lyn - we had a family of 4 in the tree at the back of our house last week.
interesting birds to be sure
They're pretty cool! Well camouflaged.
kind of looks like our owls but with the appearance of fur instead of feathers
Our babies have left the nest a few days ago. They very kindly nested a couple of metres above a pathway alongside a canal. They weren't at all concerned by scores of people pointing phones at them
Stunning birds - my hubby ended up a ladder photographing them. Got some beautiful pics. They were only there for a day though. 2 were definitely young.
A local photographer had a camera mounted up there , not sure if it was being videoed or some kind of time lapse
good morning all
Hi sprite. Good to see you.
((sprite))
hi Liz :) *hugs* Hi lyn :) xxx Hi crossy! *hugs*
How are you today - how did the session with the counsellor go yesterday?
You don't have to answer if you'd prefer not to.
we had to postpone it, Liz, we had a warning out for the storm, to not leave our homes unless we really had to be on the road.
Hi Sprite!
How frustrating for you! Has the storm passed now and was it as bad as everyone feared.
am okayish. Still very tired and a bit down. But it will get better with a good night's sleep, no doubt :) And you, my friends? How are you doing today?
Am fine apart from a desire to shoot the dog 2 doors away, which has been barking non-stop for nearly 3 hours! (Wouldn't really shoot a dog - perhaps the owner for leaving it like that!)
argh, how stressful!
Poor dog - but really hope it shuts up before we're ready to sleep.
sneak over one day when they are aout and put a sound switch in the outdoor light socket by the door.every time the dog barks after that the light will go on and off.will drive them batty
I hope so too. I take it you don't have the cell phone number of the owners?
lol crossy
No - they're some young guys and I guess they've gone out for the evening. Perhaps the policeman, who lives in between us and them will get fed up soon and do something!
LOL Crossy!
that would be a good thing
The all night parties have stopped since the policeman moved in!
very nice. Good neighbours, policemen, lol.
Its usually pretty good to have a cop as a neighbour
Let's hope he stays there for a while - the house is rented.
problem is that when he has a party and all his buds are over, you may as well just give up and join the party
lol crossy, true.
True - but hasn't happened yet and his teenage kids seem the quiet types at the moment.
nice little no4 we do not see often= old yorkshire for doijng nothing
thanks crossy
Aye, lad!
...but it wouldn't take gawd?!
Tried that too.
tried that too
lol, that is american south bible belt stuff lol
I thought english =- gawd blimey etc
Or cockney, crossy.
As Lyn said.
english or it's variants are funny things
especially when it comes to apostrophes ;)
lol!
could be like this if you have a mouse in the house "gerrout!,gerrout ye wee beestie!"
The owner of my gym alway's puts apostrophe's in plural's! Drive's me mad.
lol Liz
mmm it's 11 pm, I have a wee bit of salad but I think I need something more substantial for dinner...see you all later
kg's etc.
Sleep well, Lyn.
bye lyn, have a good dinner *hug*
And bon appétit.
tc,lynn
one of those grids with a brick wall in the middle?
Seems so.
most likely
Some weird words here that I've just stumbled across.
Just another puny grid with few challenges
at 2/3, a brick wall is normal for me. But halfway? Early. Bad omen, lol. Which is a phantom.
Using list now and down to 19. Found a number of pt that I'd missed.
see here how babbled-through I am. I read your post, stared at the grid looking for pterin etc and only then realised pt has another meaning.
lol
pt endings! Sorry! That was unclear.
lol, no, it was perfectly clear. I just had my babble glasses on, apparently.
Never realised you could have plural volcanos either!!!!
hi o-o, good to see you. I hope you are doing ok today. And yes, another one of those grids, lol.
because you said that, tomorrow will be a 744
yeah, always seemed unfair to me. Plural volcanos, but only singular hawaiian geese and hairy-nosed dolphins.
oh crossy, that would be so awesome! Another monster. And please make it over 744 then, just to break the record.
crossy has a dentist appt today at 08:30 am,so the saga continues:)
Really hope that you're getting to the end of all this dental work, Crossy.
crossy has to continue his sa4 from the PB though ;) I heard you had evil pain, crossy... I hope things are a little better now and that they can take away the cause today.
sigh,i hope so as well,liz
Just take the jaws of life along, crossy, and make it the permanent solution
today is just a peek and if the antibiotic killed all the infection AND if the underside of the tooth in question is sound, then we can stop with a cleaning on the left side on dec 23
what? beat the dentist to death with the jaws of life o-o??
brrrr I am so scared of dentists. Lol crossy, death is very permanent. How about false teeth :)
there we go.a false set of choppers
Hope it's just the cleaning solution.
i shall want mine with points
would a permanent solution make your teeth curl?
lol
the jaws of life would be canine carnivores
oh yes, crossy, highly fashionable in certain circles... vampire wannabe!
Ooooo! Who are you looking to bite?
But perhaps you shouldn't say!
hehe
50 shades of crossy
lol
:)
darn, o-o, now, by association, you have me singing the theme of the Lion King, lol!
You and termites could have a competition
hakuuuuuunaaaa matataaaa.....
no silly, the theme. The Circle of Life.
are ya aching, yup! yup! for some bacon ? yup!! yup!! he's a big pig,you can be a big pig too! oi!
15 left - think I'll leave them for tomorrow. Lovely chatting. Hope all goes well with at the dentist, Crossy. Enjoy your days, all of you. Hugs :)
ty,liz
lol crossy. Thanks for the switch to the other song... it's our problemfreeeee.... philosophyyyy
bye Liz, have a good one *hugs*
remember when we were talking about no4 and gawd? just found a ga 4 that fits in there
yes and you can pt it too
ty,sprite;))
yvw :) I tried it just for the sake of it and was baffled when it took
sigh, brb.the kitten is eating a store recipt..
run!
back.was a receipt for kitten food of all things!
=^..^= Good Kitty! Filing away papers!
hiya car.ee :)
Hi Sprite!!!
lollll crossy, your kitten is so smart!
car!!!
and now it is time for crossy's tidbit of the day!!!!
Before he wrote Jaws, Peter Benchley was a speechwriter for LBJ.
LBJ?
most likey where he got his ideas for his great little book called Q clearance
Linden Johnson
I have the book, crossy, have ordered it second-hand. Fun so far.
ahh yes,i remembered just the other day that you had it on order
it is a bit of fun
sure is. Am curieus as to how he is gonna tie it all up at the end
mmm snow squall warning for tonight:(
bring in the warm blankets and stay home
lol sadly i must be up bright and early for a visit with my dad...340 km north of me
on saturday
you might want to reschedule
so drive for 3 hours, visit for 3 then drive 3 hours again
long day, crossy
indeed
fireflies. Must be off, have a blessed day and a peaceful evening, all. *hugs*

“Have you ever heard the wonderful silence just before the dawn? Or the quiet and calm just as a storm ends? Or perhaps you know the silence when you haven't the answer to a question you've been asked, or the hush of a country road at night, or the expectant pause of a room full of people when someone is just about to speak, or, most beautiful of all, the moment after the door closes and you're alone in the whole house? Each one is different, you know, and all very beautiful if you listen carefully.†― Norton Juster, The Phantom Tollbooth
Love the Phantom Tollbooth, both the book and the movie
Hello darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone 'Neath the halo of a street lamp I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never share And no one dared Disturb the sound of silence "Fools", said I, "You do not know Silence like a cancer grows Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you" But my words, like silent raindrops fell And echoed In the wells of silence And the people bowed and prayed To the neon god they made And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls And tenement halls" And whispered in the sounds of silence

it's hard to believe the mind that came up with sound of silence, bridge over troubled water, and Graceland also gave us 50 ways to leave your lover
Good morning, luvs!
hey judi
<<<<< RIP Mr. Mandela.
Loneliness often leads to isolation ... the darkness of indifference ... a void so difficult to fill ... and the silence can kill.
o-o, why so gloom and writing about darkness and death at a time of the year when Christmas is filled with light and hope
what a shame, not a great suprise at 95, but still a great shame, mandela was a truly great man
Agreed, Joso. He will always be a great inspiration to many.
Ignore me, Buttonman ... memories of this time of the year are filled with violence that tested the spirit of even the most hardy.
Hey, Joso - speaking of Paul Simon... Remember "You can call me Al" ?
"Why am I soft in the middle - The rest of my life is so hard..." love it...
I had the privilege of living in Cape Town, S. Africa for many years...my balcony view looked out over the bay at Robben Island...always sobering to think of Mandela's incarceration there, but equally inspiring that he overcame that adversity with love and forgiveness!
0-0, what can I do to encourage you out of the gloom because this is the time of year when we should all be caring about one another.
okay, now I'm singing "bonedigger, bonedigger, right back down the alley..." see what you've done, Judi? ;)
but one of my all-time favorites was always "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard" - happy memories...
I pushed my soul in a deep dark hole and then I followed it in I watched myself crawlin' out as I was a-crawlin' in I got up so tight I couldn't unwind I saw so much I broke my mind I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in
Yeah, yeah oh yeah, what my condition was in
gy
no judi, looked up the lyrics and "You can call me Al" still doesn't come back to me
hey flosey
hi joso and good morning everyone
not quite awake yet
fi 5/12 has the beginning of an inquiry
and I am not quite asleep yet, hehehehehe
oh oh, have you been up all night?
yes, puttering around
chevy chase joined simon for a bit in the you can call me
I went to Chemainus theatre yesterday, saw It's a Wonderful Life - as a stage play it was done very well
it's a wonderful story flosey, but hard to imagine a stage production could be as good as the movie
just watched the vid for "You can call me Al", I always thought of it as 'If you'd be my body guard", came back to me in the first bar
Good Morning babble friends
no, of course not, but it was surprising how true it was to the movie
good morning river
long production then, it's a long movie
hey river
hi fokls
and folks
hi welki
hey welki
my kitties are doing good - we are getting used to each other
fireworks!
they've come out on their own, river?
oh oh, red boxes
congrats steve
ep?
wtg steve, down to last 4
yes - took 2 1/2 hours but finally came out and another hour before they would approach me - but in the middle of the night they decided to join me in bed. had one on my pillow and the other at my feet
e + oinker + movie: ** the waterfront
on the bed already! i'd say SUCCESS!
ty
they are still alittle skiddish when I approach them but they are more and more approaching me. Had one om my lap for quite a while last night watching TV
new adoptees, River?
yes, I adopted 2 (brothers) 10 year old Maine Coon Cats. They are black with a while medalion on their chest. Quite handsome and very gentle.
fw, and off to get my first am coffee
just got them on Wednesday - so we are still getting to know each other. Their owner recently passed away so this is a whole new world for them.
congrats, flosey!
tks rbud
yay flosey
hi
and River
aww, so kind of you to take them in!
since my ex took our dog, I have been wanting to get another companion and thought cats would work better for me.
Hi harpjane
did they come with some familiar items from home? (would seem to help them adjust) or through a shelter?
I think Maine Coons are the best! (except for the hairballs!)
I like the ragdolls
yes they came with their own blanket and some toys and their own hair brush
they are pretty matted. I have several balls I will need to cut out of their coat once they are more comfortable with me.
ragdolls are great too! similar personality to the maine coon
I never heard of ragdolls
isn't that usually a rather large breed of cat? (the Maine Coons, I mean?)
My Zephyr broke his old record when I put him outside today in below zero weather. 18 seconds from the back porch to his cat entrance.
yes, Zephyr was 22 pounds in his prime.
big, shy, pretty, and incredibly affectionate
they are good size - long and sleek. I dont know what they weigh but I dont think that much
these are inside only cats
Zephyr was one of those yesterday lol
are you getting hit with the snow and cold?
hahaha, our spoiled indoor big black cat (who has lately decided he won't use the litterboxes, only wants to do his business outside) performed in record time this AM, also, probably less than a minute and he was back skritching at the door.
bizarre cat, breed for it's placidity, to be safe around kids, but after successfully breed they recommend they not go into homes with small kids, they do not resist as the kids kill them.
I heard there is any icy blast going on throughout the midwest
no snow here in central Illinois yet, we've been lucky. but yes, VERY cold.
Greetings, Babblers. My bunnies stretch out on their bellies, pushing their hind legs out, then resting their chins down, and relax.

That was us yesterday, River.

It's mild and rainy here in NYC
yet they are predicting a couple inches of snow overnight tonight
I must get back to work - will sneak in again later
Put a hat and jacket on and do what you have to do.
Aaah, red bar of doom.

Hello. Restarting after a morning break. We got Murphy a fancy dog bed and had to put the padding inside the cover. We were barely smart enough to do it. Next time we get a chiuaua (sp.).
LOL...what is Murphy (btw, chiuaua chew too)
stidg, we have a Murphy too. He's one of our foster dogs
Murphy is a lab, he is my icon picture.
mine is a poodl/bichon mix
you do not want a chihuahua
I love the way dogs know their names. Not much chance to say Murphy unless we're talking about him.
hi all
My dogs have always been the big breeds
paHi hego. Talking about our dogs.
Murphy comes with Abby, a petite bichon
hi stid
Bichons have such nice faces. Winsome.
they're little sweeties
I love bichons
We've always had Bichons and we do fostering for a Bichon rescue
can't imagine bichons needing rescuing. They're such easy, nice little dogs.
You would not believe the number of them turned into shelters. Their coats need a lot of work and they're not easy to house break [the males]
Our two, Marco and Polo were strays, if you can believe that
hi all, back to finish, 9 left
hi peri, list is up
meant 49 to go
hiya peri!
ty
All males are hard to housebreak. lol
Hi Peri
Maybe, but especially breeds who tend to be dominating.
Well, 39 left. Time for a power nap if I am to survive the rest of the day (funeral then work Christmas party) bbl, hagd all

that's quite a varied schedule Jill.

All for me now. Time to heat up leftovers.
howdy again my babble friends
hi
I am testing a new computer build. lol. I refurbished a old office computer, the kind that lay flat on the desk and you just place the monitor on top of it.i jammed a 3.5 gig cpu chip in it and 2 gig of ram;))
it will either work or overheat and catch fire.we shall see:))
interesting...
it had xp and a old pentiumd d chip.i crammed windows 7 into it hehe
then I pulled a very old 75 gig hard drive out of the parts box and revived it.may not sound like much, but as long as you do not fill it up,it is very zippy at retrieving info
cool..
sorry,i can feel peoples eyes glazing over.i just wanted to take a old office build and see how fast I could make it and push everything to the maximum it could take as far as parts went
only down side is I am stuck with a 5400 rpm spindle speed on the optical drive:((
ah well, that's greek to me... ;o)

bye Mo
haha, night, mo!

suze, is frank on a gluten free diet still? if so have you tried Blue Diamond Natural Nut Thins. They are really good crackers. I like the pecan nut thins and the almond nut thins.
They sell them in Giant and Target here as well as health food stores
hi peri, Frank has celiac disease and will always be on a gluten free diet - we looked at the Diamond nut thins but they are processed on equipment that also processes wheat, and this often causes him problems
"wonder how they would taste with bacon on them ?:)))
they are wheat and gluten free and
oh, rats. they are nice and crispy too
they do look tasty, though....
that is stupid marketing and packaging then to say they are wheat and gluten free and then say they are made in a place where wheat products are made
I had them with two types of cheese dips over Thanksgiving
I do hope you gave them that feedback Sue
well, it depends on how sensitive someone is, for some people it's not a problem. At least they do tell you about the possibility of cross-contamination!

Anyone need clues before I leave?
crossy hates algebra! :(( I had to look at things like this all morning : -8+ 6x(3- 2x) -3 + x
LOL...I hate math in general....you have my sympathies!!
and she is such a nice teacher.would be better if she were nasty, then it could be 50 shades of algebra:)
<----chuckles
then I could go get the next page of stuff and a spanking:))
How's the weather there Crossy, it is a balmy 7 degrees (f) here
it is minus 1c here and a snow squall warning for tonight
Dusting of snow, some on the way, wind chill warning and -8 with wind chill now
neat crossy tidbit of the day!! hippo sweat actually has a spf factor and they use it as an effective natural sunscreen
and repellant...LOL
Well, have Christmas party to get ready for...hagn all...and dear crossy...prayer on your algebra!
((jilly))
it should of been against the law ..my morning that is ,dental work from 8 am to 8:45 am followed by algebra from 9 am till 1:30 pm:(
what degree are you taking, crosshair?
actually,T.O.i am filling in a few holes is all this will let me go to university if I so desire at a later date, however,i do plan on taking some business course afterwards
so,no specific degree atm
you need to take college algebra to enroll for business degree
we needed to prove competency for statistics but that was for our masters.
well, this teacher says she can ramp it up for me as much as I wish, but I must take smaller stet.remember,i have been out of it for 33 years
smaller steps*
i guess. i dont recall using any math for business aside from the algebra you use in every day life.
well,i will see how it all pans out.it is all very flexible for now
need to wrap this sucker up
I have this year to fill the holes and I do not have to decide on anything till next august for September enrollment
here there are special prograns for adult learners. they do not expect you to have at your fingertips everything you learned in high school. unless you are going for a math degree, they would test and tutor you. they figure adult learners have lost enough time as is.
after this math for example, i have 5 weeks of college English
that is true.my memories of high school are dim indeed and not really relevant to what I need to do
i just got this new computer organized with the entire windows office suite on it to prepare.i see a lot of English homework in my future
we has to prove competency in math, economics and stat because we had not undergrad busniess degrees. once yo are in , you teach yourself
and Microsoft Word as vital
is
yes, just pass the entrance requirements and go to it
hi all
howdy,rows
because like they say "it is you nickel" either learn or go home
hello?
but then i never spent many years post degree without taking college courses for my own pleasure
howdy i said rows:))
hey rows!
so,for now, i am not sweating anything .I ran businesses for others for 30 years, so this is for myself, and at the end of the day, i am not a 20 year old trying to flesh out a resume with a bunch of letters after my name to build a carrear, but will just put my sheepskin on the wall and slide into a nice, quiet no stress business of my own that i can play around with to keep me busy till retirement in 17 years
good for you
i think so as well:)
Good morning all :)
howdy,liz
hi liz
So, I have to ask, though probably you've already posted it, but how did it go at the dentist?
Good ambition, Crossy - stress free business to take you through to retirement.
yuppers,i have the business cards, flyers, newsletters and designs and layout already done with the office suite programs and powerpint and publisher etc.ready to go
yes indeed liz.this time,it is for me,no one else
bye all
That's great.
once i open the book shop/art supply store i will mail every babbler who asks for one ,a coupon for two free books. the catch is that you will have to come to my new store to get it. i want to see as many babblers as i can:))
How about a free air ticket thrown in?
I can count maybe 15-25 regulars in Canada, the rest may take a little bit longer to drop in for a visit;))
I think that's a really great idea.
How much of a market is there still in real books - looking into the future - might just become collectors' items.
there is a very good market, actually.you buy specific books, older and collectable hard and soft covers and they are still very popular as gifts
I can see that for speciality books.
a good quality copy of a muched loved story in hard cover is still treasured by those who receive it
Fireworks.
much
yaaa for liz!!
I really hope that continues. Even though I read on my iPad mostly, for convenience, I love real books.
ty
i read on my nook or tablet mostly, but i treasure my hardcover books as well. i think there will continue to be room in this world for both
Would your son, as one of today's youth, agree?
sadly,he is not much of a reader of books for enjoyment:((
but most youth readers i have talked to seem to find room for both "dead tree books" and e-book in their life
Hope that continues.
I guess if you're a reader, then that will probably apply but if you're not a reader, then it doesn't matter whether it's an electronic or "dead tree" book.
it seem to me,by my marketing surveys, that while most love e-books for the convenience of it all, real books are treasured more
OK time to go for now - any clues before I leave?
no,ty,liz,i must earn my keep for a bit
OK - enjoy your evening :)

Going to make hot chocolate.....brb
I'll have a cup too please
That was rather cruel, wasn't it? So many are cold right now.....didn't mean it to be....but if you are one of the 'cold' ones......now is the time for HOT CHOCOLATE.
Hands sue a cup....Salute!!
actually it is 70 degrees right now. 36 for a high on sunday
salute
Sue, my dear, any degree is good for HOT CHOCOLATE. Agree?
agree. and the more chocolate the better
Oh, yeah. I use three packs of Swiss Miss (diet) to a tall cup.
nice. add some French vanilla coffee to it
tastes amazing and has a great kick
I'll need to try that.
Yvooria, have you been here long?
oh no. ms. peach is hallucinating.
i mean - hi yvooria! long time no see (no double intendre intended)
entendre
I do it all the time. That was a good one, mab.
am i not hilarious?
I talk to my dogs too. The only time I worry about myself is when I start asking them questions. LOL
and truly, now, hello yvooria
oh, peach, cat people talk to their cats and then make up responses from the cats
I imagine she's deep into the grid.....will surface later.\
ie, kitty says 'yes mummy, i'm starving, that's what kitty says... and so on.
kitty says.. oh great the can opener is back
yes, that's it ru!
I have a nieghbor who rescues cats and she makes sounds just like a cat....the first time I heard her, I thought I must be losing it.
you or her peach
how bizarre
Howdy, ru.
some people are weird around cats
now dogs, dogs say 'feed me or i'll chew on your leg when you fall asleep.
hiya peach
Well, I lost mine some time ago.....but I think she is getting close.
Hello mab!How are you doing today? Welcome to the grid
Some people are weird around cats.\
i am a nutty cat person and rather nutty all around.
Hello rururocks! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
hi minv
hi min! it's always good to see you.
i concur mab
than i'm nutty? it shows?
no.. that it is always nice to see minveryork
oh, yes.
but.. as far as nuttiness.. be it far from me to ...
Thank you mab & rururocks.I LOVE coming to Babbleland
:D min
there is a woman in town who walks around with her preternaturally placid english bull terrier off the lead, and the poor animal freaks me out.
I used to have a poodle-pom mix named Charm and do naughty things and I would say "Charm, I am going to spank your butt." and he would reply in a hight pitched voice, "Oh, no, not my sweet butt'.
she seems like a harmless creature, but i think she is going to spring at me. the dog.
what a talented dog.
or peach is nutty around her dogs as i am around my cats.
is suspect the latter....
Yes, he was. Johnny Carson wanted him to be on his show.
i like dogs, but they do scare me.
but charm refused, i suppose.
That was a bald face lie. Sounded good though.,
po4/9?
sounds like fridays around my house peach :D
no, it's a great lie. i would, however, have enjoyed seeing charm on johnny carson.
po: + traveling are called **psies.
traveling people....sorry
ty
yvw
*watches joke fall flat on its face*
No, ruru, that was a good one.
:D someone caught it :D
I'll check emails and be back shortly.
*peeks in*
*peeks back*
Hello welki! How are you doing? Welcome to the chat log.
doing well, thanks - you?
I am well. Playing FaceBook games and checking in every so often here in Babbleland. I'm just waiting for the flip.
what FB games, minver?
we just got home from disneyworld with some of our grandchildren (and their parents) - was a blast!
(but a shock to come home to windchill of -39C after splashing around in the pool with the kids)
wow, I imagine that's a definite surprise to the system, welki!
yep, but it's good to be home :)
are you having the same temps from this giant cold front?
Hello harpjane! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid.
hello welki and harpjane
and all
yes but I'm in a relatively mild spot. we are about 6 below F, or -21C. Our wind isn't supposed to be too bad. I've been hauling the harp around, which is a challenge. You need to move FAST between the house and the car.
hi stid
hey stid - how goes the battle?
I play Bubble Blitz, Candy Crush, Family Feud, & Pyramid
Hello stidmama! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
i imagine you can't keep it tuned when it goes from warm to cold to warm - same as any stringed instrument, right?
it goes, welki -- there is a bathtub in the garage today... we are getting the standard pre-molded acrylic type for Grant's bathroom. :-) Waiting for the skylights to be installed and then at least the inside of the house won't always be so wet.
hi everyone and stid
hi, bugsaw
(((((((BUGS!!!!!!!!)))))))
great fun for your family welki, I am envious
I am so happy to see you! how long can you stay up and play? are you feeling better? how's mr bugs? how are you? do you need anything? I have vacation in two more weeks, can come up and mother you...
you need to post more pictures of your house stid
oh my goodness, stid is bouncing!
sounds like good progress, stid - a long wait, but worth it
I don't have new pics yet bugs, by the time I get to the house after school the sun is well down below the trees
I am not playing right now because I don't have the stamina at this time of night. I played once a couple of days ago but the foot hurts so much at times, I don't last long before I have to go lie down and prop it up nice and high
hoping tomorrow I will have some. You will LOVE the french doors in our bedroom, they have the blinds INSIDE the glass (so they don't get dusty or have dogs try to climb up them). :-)
those are the best doors stid. People who have them love them
I am sorry it still hurts so much. What can I do/provide/offer to help from here?
If you want to come up, you are always welcome but it would probably be a dumb idea since I can't do anything. I have a wheelchair but the house is too small to get around in the house so I am forced to hop, leaning on a walker. I can't even get myself a drink...
those doors totally blew our budget. And then I insisted on one skylight that would have an electric opener (but skipped the integrated blinds on those -- may rethink that decision later). Don't know how I can afford all the lights I want... *sigh* :-) being patient. I can always change out lights that are cheapter later, though.
Hello Bugsaw! How are you doing? Welcome to the chog.
hello Minveryork. I am well with my broken ankle propped up. I have missed my Babble friends so much the last 2 weeks
I won't stress you out by coming over... *thinking about ways around the hopping* a rolling scooter? A lot of people around here seem to have these little rolling scooters when they hurt their feet.
blech. 8 left and the jet lag has kicked in. g'night folks
poor welki. Can't others help with the last 8 ?
Mother will be SO PLEASED you are okay. She and I have a girls' day planned tomorrow afternoon. We'll figure something out...
I am only down to 52, no help here, sorry
I have positioned the wheelchair in the computer room. I can't sit in it and get out of the room, but I can enter backwards on my walker, sit in the chair and wheel to the computer. I even had my tutoring student come here today and we worked on my computer that way
oh! I know one thing that might help you with getting drinks... do you have a "camelback" bottle? I have an extra!
Does a camel back bottle get one over the hump?
I could ship that up to you. I love mine. And you could hook it onto the walker with a carabiner (mr bugs would know how to set it up)
I don't have one of those. My sister suggested one of those beer hats that you can strap 2 beer cans onto the side of hard hat and insert straws. Mr Bugs offered to make it but I declined. I have a glass in the bathroom if I ever need a drink.
LOL bugs! okay, I will ship you the extra one. You'll like it. Mother has one, too.
It sounds like it wud ruru! good one
silly ruru-goat!
Thanks, but I could probably buy one if I could ever get out. Please don't send it if it costs too much. Canadian postal rates are nuts
ah, but I don't pay Canadian postal rates! *grin*
I'll get it packaged up this weekend and Tom can send it Monday for me.
The broken bones don't seem to hurt too much. I looked on the net and it looks like the ligaments and tendons are the ones that hurt. I am hoping that hurting means they are mending. I blew out the whole ankle so they tell me it will be a long time healing
well, poop. Guess you'll need help planting potatoes this year.
Oh no Bugsaw! How did you manage to break your ankle?
Thanks stid but only if you can maage the cost. It will give me an excuse to come down and see your house in the summer when it is done.
hey min
The advantage is that we can BOTH look forward to that!
Just slipped on a patch of something slippery on a downhill walkway. My foot rolled over and then I tried to stand on it and totally smooshed it. It was so embarrassing but thank God for cellphones. I could have been lying there from 8:30 in the morning to suppertime.
Hi stidmama! How are you? Sorry I missed your entrance
I am well, Min -- went to the middle school orchestra (strings) concert this evening. I have subbed in for the teacher a couple times and it was nice to hear the "finished product." There are so many bright spots in my life. How are you, Min
I must be off. Happy Babbling everyone!
sweet dreams bugs (((bugs hugs)))
okay, I am exhausted and going to sleep. :-) have a lovely weekend, all! *poof*
Goodbye Bugsaw! I will see you tomorrow in the chat log
Goodbye stidmama! I'll see you tomorrow in the chat log.
