Hi Gwen
hi puglet, and wtg mitch !!
@book: well established as a word nerd already, tried to start a youtube channel about pen-paper word games some time ago with minimal success =P
i like the cut of your jib, able. or is it gib?
Hi mab
pen and paper! keepin' it old school, nice!
hi pug and all
jib. had to look it up.
not up on my sailing terms.
filmed a table surface with me doing the old 'word mine' (finding as many words within a larger word) timed at 7min max. nobody seemed particularly interested =/
aw. i think it sounds great.

*waves to Dart*
ah well, hubby was a good sport - he'd usually prefer I asked a friend
i wonder if dart ever waves back
not lately mab
perhaps he gets a giggle anyway
I think he turns off the chat and just wraps it up.. he's
driven
maybe he waves.
he's too tall to wave..he'd hit the ceiling
maybe one of those little two fingered salute waves one gives to other drivers in the countryside.
lol, or the one finger
that could be.. in my case it might be one finger
i don't know why people do that, but i sort of like it.
LOL Flosey
true...
just when you think Flosey is ready for church...
i like your icon, flosey. i always mean to tell you.
she rips a funny one
it has been more years than I can remember, ru
oh .. me too
thanks mab
hey.. where's salt spring's party girl?
i was just wondering too....
Partying, perhaps?
polishing off her last martini..

Foyle's War, bridge?
The one before the nightcap!
savoring that second olive
why, thanks able.
as an occasional surveyor of cute cat videos, which I find too often more cruel than cute, word games sound good to me.
anyone have an a 7 you would like to clue?
(am cat nut)
I like cats too
a baby with a vowel nan
in 7

Dylan LOVES cat

WTG NAN!!
Hi Rose - how was the surgeon?
Oops -- late again. But almost all the Xmas shopping, wrapping and packing is done. Just 2 more little gifts to get tomorrow after the doctor appointment.

Hi Jilli :)
we were just talking about you jilli :D
Hi Jilli

Do you think he has seen that happen to his master, ruru?
Hi jbp
hey JB.. now the fun starts
Wonderful neighbour helped package a heavy table for granddaughter and partner in their new house.
good report from surgeon. he is really chuffed, here i am 10 days post-op with nearly 90 degree flexion, and i can lift my foot 6 inches off the floor, unaided.
lol - hi jill -- me too -- what ages are you shopping for?
hi jbp and peach
don't forget my birthday on the 16th, jilli
nan -- all grownups!
Fantastic. Did he have anything to say about the blisters?
Hey there, flosey and jbp and the rest of the gang.
Hi Peach, sorry didnt see you come in
LOL PEACH I have the best come back.. but i CAN'T SAY IT
and mine on 21st!
well done, rose
geez ruru, that's a lot of pressure...
Hi jbp
you be chuffed too
haha mab. Actually, our duplicte bridge club party is that evening :-)
i would be too
he said to just to leave the dressin dry for another week. the blisters should have flattened by then, and my own skin will seal the areas.
That's really good to hear. Very pleased for you :)
good news and progress Rose
oops - read your comment as 2 little girls, not gifts ---have to find something for a 3 year old and 20 months old tomorrow
Hey there, puglet. Any thawing out your way?
that's very good news, rose. excellent healing.
thanx all. how are you, liz?
good to hear rose
All's fine here, thanks, Rose.
you can't use lickety's list then GR
good night all - about to crash :)

Iam so so Rose and sister is doing fine
ugh, pugs, that would be too cold, even for me. glad siter is doing better. but you? is it the headache again, hun?
not too much Liz, but thanks for asking
I just washed my cell phone. How aggravating.
Sorry to hear that - hope tomorrow is a bit better.
in the washer Peach?
did it survive, peach?
Is it OK, peach?
No, its not headaches
oh no Peach
as in laundered, peach?
hey peach, at least it was dropped into a toilet, like my bro did with his...
Yes, mab. First time I've ever done that.
*wasn't*
if she's lucky it is a samhung
i think i'll shut up....fingers and head not on same wave-lenght
Rose.....do you know how much you were missed?
yes, don't shut up rose.
we LOVE typos GR
peach, love. if the emails and ecards are anything to go by...i am one very spoiled, lucky lady.
You make us smile, Rose
wai, ruru, who is this Sam guy?
yeah Rose dont go quiet! yesterday morn it was like sitting in a graveyard here
and how do YOU know?
Sometimes laugh out loud.
Taking a break - got to finish sprite's evil jigsaw on jigidi!
oh, ruru, do you remember the major typo, where i misspelled jocks?
which one Liz
pug, it was a small and esy grid yesterday -- I even finished it!
that was a hall of fame quote GR
I will have to check it out, Liz. I have become totally addicted
The fire horses - the large one. Love it but it's challenging!
me too Jilli
About 75 % done.
brb
I done the smaller on and it is
Me too, jbp.
later then Liz have fun
I'll def be back!
hey, nbt! huzzah!
(it's the little things in life...)
later liz dear
hows things at your house Rose
oooh, and I just got the 9 all by myself, which describes who I am being right now. ;-)
how, not who
i know it sounds awful, but i am wearing long-line shorts to the funeral tomorrow.
what does the 9 start with please?
in... describes a baby
what are long line shorts
I'm okay on fours, hideous on 6+
i have to wear compression stockings in white only, then a pair of black knee-highs over them. i think slacks over the lot are gonna drive me bonkers.
phantom: flannel
ty jbp -- thinking, which is difficult for me just now -- fatigue
maybe a skirt?
pugs, they finish just below the knee. not sure what you would call them.
well you cant help it Rose
capri pants!
very chic.
hi all
yes capri or my grandma called them knickers
hi joso!
not usually worn with socks, but you could begin a trend.
got the 9, thx jbp
Hi Sir Joso
lololol...mab....a skirt on me???? not at all suitable for my shape....which isn't existent really. i'm just a short, round shape.
just like me, rose.
Shorties are better I think.
kind of like the dough boy? LOL
hey jbp, g'day pug
seriously, you will look just fine for someone who had surgery less than two weeks ago.
michelin man would be closer.
;-)
LOL-Rose
there's an idea, just fill me with helium and i'll float along the ceiling.
I was going to say like one of the weeble wooble dolls but due to your fall cant call you that LOL
tnx for the nine jbp
{{hugs}} sir joso
well, I'm half way, and am off to feed my puzzle addictions. ;-) night all!
night jbp
tie a string to you like a balloon and don can just pull you alone
got the 9 also jbp, gracias
night jbp
anyway, who am i kidding? nobody will be looking at me anyway.
hey rose, all wrapped up in fashion chat i see
hi joso
can someone gove me a clue for a 7 so I can go to bed with nbs at least pease?
at least its not shoes and handbags Joso
haven't seen you here lately
joso, the lower half of my legs are like a sara lee cake, layer upon layer
hey flosey, hows life in the hippie end of canada
layers of what, fabric I hope
lol hippie??? we're doing great joso, chilly but only a slight sprinkling of snow
I think you are puting yourself down too much Rose---I like you just the way you are
hi joso -- that only applies to the south end of this island, where flosey lives. We northerners are not ip.
*not hip.
haven't seen a hippie since leaving Ontario
an7 someone said previously, but can't find it myself
(@jilli)
ok jilli, so you represent the Establishment do you
come on, flosey -- they're all over the place here -- at least the old ones are.
an7 was clued quite early - girls name and top of a jar
Ru clued it as a girls name and the top of a jar
ty pug -- I came in too late for that
joso, have to wear compression stocking 24/7. ugh!! i hate them
tnx pug
Hey there, joso.
yw
How are you today Peach
oy, i don't blame you rose, an unadvertised bonus of work I'm guessing
for how long Rose
Doing ok, puglet....and you?
rose, I have to wear one too, but a knee-high, and have to wrestle with it morning and night, not 24/7.
okay too
hey peach, how's the warmth in georgia
pugs, until the swelling subsides...which i don't think is going to be any time soon.:(
never heard of compression stockings, interesting
Cooler that usual, joso.
Havent seen your friend lately Peach, did she not like it here
aren't they the pits, jilli? and such a fashion statement...NOT
you should try it up here dearie
well Rose with your craftiness fix them. Like tie dye them or something
yes, ladies in hose bring much different images to mind than support stockings
Oh, puglet, she loved it here......just really busy right now. I think she will join after the holidays.
ty for for the an7 clue -- NBS -- and off to bed (early start tomorrow for doc appt)
now there's a thought, might chuck them in with the hot pink bath towels...turn them a lovely shade of rose...lol
I was just wondering for shes not been here lately
ladies in support stockings don't usually 'strut their stuff' joso
sleep well, jilli
night Jilli
rose -- I wear long pants -- it's winter here -- so it doesn't show. Just so hard to get off and put on again.
my feet were starting to swell frequently, but all the exercise of the move seem to have put that to rest, maybe there is something too this exercise thing
did you move into a place nearby joso?
yes, 7 blocks from my old place
Could
did you carry each box the 7 blocks? LOL
Hi Marc
Could I get a clue for in6, please?
no rented a truck, was moving from 10:00 am to 5:00 am
hi puglet
baby, Marc
no wonder you were so tired Joso
jilli, try folding the stocking half inside out, like you would a pair of socks. pull on til the heel part is in place, then ease the upper edge over your foot, and gently pull the stocking on up your leg.
I bet Don puts yours on and takes em off too for you,hun Rose
got it thanks
flosey, as to your earlier question, moving has disrupted my sleep/wake schedule, I am still here most nights but often see you going to bed shortly before I arrive
at the moment he does pugs, but as soon as i can bend the knee enough to reach the toes on my right foot, i will be doing it myself. by the same token, i think he is liking me to be a little dependent on him.
I bet he does and Iam sure you like it too
* giggle * he calls me his little self-raising flower (flour )
ah, well good to see you now, joso
have you got a hot tub there to soak in and help the swelling
always good to see you flosey
hmmmm, just had a thought...now that MIL is no longer here to keep him occupied, and if/when i return to work...what is he going to do all day? and please don't say the computer...
Dee hasent been here yet or I missed her
pugs, wound not fully healed yet, so am not allowed to get it wet at all.
He can now start your remodeling
thats odd, dee is userly in and out in the first half hour
shhhh, pugs, he will hear you....i am day-dreaming, so hoping that will happen a lot sooner than expected.
yeah I know
oh oh, stinky feet
20 to go and think I better find time tomorrow before flip, must get to bed, going to Victoria tomorrow,Christmas Shopping
night Flosey, enjoy your shopping trip
g'night flosey, have fun shopping
and have my wedding ring sized larger - nuckles swelling with arthritis
how lovely, flosey, all that travelling, mobs of pushy people all trying to get to where you want to be...
this is the second upsizing
du5, please?
du + marc is your ***e
thanks
Sprite wont be here today for shes having a all day family con.
we know exactly what we going after so shouldn't be too bad
goodnight all, be back around supper hour or shortly after
congrats on your fws Rose--I always forget that cause you just slide in so quietly
night flosey
i'm cheating this year. most of the nephews are now of an age when they would like gift cards/cash to save up to buy something really 'big'
lol, thanx pugs, and flosey? hope you sleep well, hun
Iam sending Gradyn money too because he wants games for his unit and I dont know what he does or dont have
Rose, Ive been pondering over --should I send his brother something too---Hes no kin to me really, Iam not sure on what to do there. Hes about 9mo old
I would, always seems bad to me to differentiate between kids over small things
pugs, i usually give my step-grandkiddies something. perhaps a small toy, or a gift card which mom can use to buy something for him.
okay thanks guys, wasent sure on what to do there
brb
on boxing day, which is when my side of the family get together, i usually take a couple of extra boxes of chocolates/biscuits wrapped up for any unexpected guests. if none appear, i unwrap them, on the sly, and put them on the table for all to share.
Peeps, I need to try to get to sleep a little earlier......whether that will happen or not is the question....Blessings
awww, peach, gentle hugs sweetie. just close those beautiful eyes and drift away.
g'night sweet peach, rest well and deep
night Peach
so rose, what is the projected recovery time before cartwheels and tutus
what do you think pug, long detailed answer, or squirrel migration?
not sure, joso. am thinking it will be a lot less than after the full box and dice of last year. by the same token, i will not be rushing my recovery as i did last year. son and his wife are now paying me rent/board.
pfft, joso.
just remember it is single digit typing here...lolol
so money is not a problem, a nice situation to be in, maybe the coming year will be your year.
seems you've got most of what can go wrong done and out of the way this year
yeah, once probate through i will be considerably better off. don is saying i am not to return to work.
then dont if you dont need too--enjoy some life before you are too old or its too late
why single diget typing, did fang break your arm?
i guess i need some financial advice, and fairly pronto.
what about your DIL
joso, one digit each hand...so sue me...it's actually 2 digits.
If you can find a good person it's likely money well spent
DIL medical lawyer...not financial
oh, you type like I do, thought you could type proper like
social services over here offer free, unbiased financial advice. we are going to make an appointment ASAP
if your leg gets to 100% do you want to quit, or would you like to keep working?
do you want to return to working Rose
No of course she doesn't!!!!!!
Not if she's got any sense. Retirement is awesome!
maybe go back to one shift /week. or 2 half shifts/week. just to keep my habd in...would give me some pin money too.
wb Liz--get the puzzle done
I don't know, some people like their jobs
Yes but I've been dipping in and out of babble too!
but doing that you wont be able to be free to travel
don't touch it, pugs
I used to like my job. Even when I took early retirement cos of moving to Aus, the actual classroom teaching was great. Like many other professions, the government has lots of ideas about what the job should be!
Liz, Ive pictured you as a youngin say in your twenties
pugs, i will have paid leave clocking up, when i work. and because my shifts will be so small, my absence from work will not be a major disruption.
Nah! Hit the big 6 in a few days!
liz, already there...gotta tell you, it's an amazing feeling of freedom.
what day is your b-day on Liz
There are some pics of me in my profile if you can be bothered pugs - when I became an Aussie in january and my birthday last year!
21st Dec.
almost a xmas baby
True Rose. I've no problems about it - it's just a number. I feel young and look youngish and am lucky to be healthy.
okay Liz, will look here in a bit
Almost! But don't celebrate Xmas because I'm Jewish.
pugs, the black trousers liz is wearing are the length i was talking about.
oh okay
OK - now I need to check what I was wearing - I guess that was for the citizenship ceremony!
yeah, liz, but you have hannukah? did i get that right?
brb-going to go look
so you are an indelible ausy liz
Yes - 8 days of presents as a kid!!! As if!!!
No, joso - it was temporary as a bit of fun.
ah, was wondering, the Jewish tattoo thing
That's true but I just don't like tats.
Nice pics Liz--you do look young----is that a pic of your yard now
And Rose, I think that cut off trousers will be just fine for the funeral. Will you be able to keep the weight off your leg?
ce6, please?
still, as you observe kosher rules I assume you are fairly devout.
I second what Liz says about the pants
Yes - that's the bottom part of our garden. We're working on terracing the slope, which is pretty steep.
It looks lovely Liz
marc, ce**, a coin + *s**, land surrounded by water
I call myself modern, joso. I keep kosher and I observe the festivals in my way and we light candles on friday night but not much more.
that must be something to see that whale up so close
me too, pants fine, they must know just getting there is a major effort for you at the moment.
nope that's ce7...ce6, ce**, a coin + ** er i don't know
like the vitamin minus the r
We're really lucky pugs. From May - November about 17000 whales pass our coast - first swimming north to have their young, then back to the Antarctic to feed. We go out whale watching most weeks - not on our boat! We have a season ticket with a local company.
ok liz, not sure where the lines are, as many varriens of jew as there are of christian.
hey ya, kje. how are you, hun?
Definitely - from all types of very, very observant to those who observe nothing.
Hi kje.
doing well... up oo late!
i'm going to have all my pain meds with me.
Good move - and a fold up chair (beach chair) in the car.
ah, well, kje, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em...lol
: )
are they all the same type of whales or are there others within this number of whales
thanks, granny
was thinking of taking the wheelchair. usually not a lot of places to sit afterwards.
couple of my gaming buddies are Jews, but not kosher, just observe the major holidays as far as I've seen
Mostly southern humpbacks. But there are some others here but we've not seen them.
yw marc. and how are you, buddy? long time no talkie...
I saw humbacks last weekend
very cool
As I said, Joso, lots of varieties of us. Each to their own, in my opinion.
They are cool, aren't they!
humpbacks
i almost got kissed on the nose by one in August. It spy-hopped right by the boat, where I was leaning over. Magic moment!
just exciting to be somewhat close o something that big
Ive never seen a whale except on tv and its hard for me to imagine such a huge animal
oh wow, liz... very cool
awww, liz, what an experience!!
It doesn't matter that we've been whale watching for 5 years now - it blows me away every time I see one.
do you see dophins there as well Liz
maybe someday, pug... though I will say, that was a cold cold trip!
Yes, often see dolphins and sometimes turtles and flying fish.
Not too cold here when we go, especially in September or October.
Most amazing experience was watching the Northern humpbacks feeding in Alaska this July.
Hi Kje---sorry forgot to
36 left! To list or not to list? Think I'll try and find a few more.
hi
Not seeing the u's! Any clues, pls.
did you say Liz that they come there to have their young
Saying that, just found ut 5
un + not female
ut5 - useful
Yes, we've seen some very young calves - still grey, looking like dolphins.
ty kje.
ut5, ut + *s**, land surrounded by water
Most have their calves further north than here though.
Thanks, rose.
yw
what are the 1st 2 of the 9?
np's liz
in 9 / 72
ty
got it
like my SIL's behaviour...lolol
Rose, will you be on in the morning
Pugs, if you look at my flickr page again, next to the pic of me at my citizenship ceremony, there's pic of a mother with its calf sticking its nose out!
Funny, Rose! Sadly.
okay Liz
probably not hun. so many last minute things to do. and i promised surgeon i would rest up before funeral.
gn... gonna try to sleep
How many times am I going to type tedium!
Sleep well, kje.
well fw and good night all, got company coming Friday so have to finish all the rest of the unpacking tomorrow.
Congrats joso. Sleep well.
night, kje, sweet dreams, hun
Gooooooooooood morning fellow Babblers xx I have a feeling I'm going to be way off the mark but my guess today is around 142 words (for some reason my guessing brain doesn't feel right though)
WTG JOSO!!!
will miss you Rose--but will be glad for you and don for all this to be over and you guys will be in my prayers
worzel!!! {{{hugs}}} and kisses dear.
Hi worzel - 92 today.
try 92
congrats Joso and good night
Good morning Mum how are you today? xx
Hi wor
thanx pugs, dear
92? That's a bit shorter than i guessed lol
1 x 9; no 8's and 3 x7
hi liz and ty xx
morning pug xx
worzel, so much better pain wise. ultrasound showed no clots, and surgeon very pleased with progress thus far.
Mum I just saw pug saying "Gonna miss you" - where you going??? Excellent news about your results, too xx
how are you, worzel? having a good one?
hows the belly Wor
worzel, MIL's funeral tomorrow.
Oh I'm not so bad ty Mum and pug xx my tummy is getting better - thanks for the tip about pro-biotics everyone xx And didn't realise about the funeral, sorry Mum xx
OK, I'm off for a while. Rose, I really hope it goes smoothly tomorrow. Stress free and the SIL keeps away from you. Hugs to all of you but especially to you Rose and also to Don xx
and of course, pug's memory is working well. good the pro-biotics helping.
hugs Liz and will see you in the morning
thanx liz.
sys liz take care xx
Only for a while pugs. Out tomorrow evening here (your morning).
I remember Wor saying he was feeling poopy the other day--lol
what a wonderful turn of phrase pug lmao!!!
yeah well, passed it on to me....ever tried dashing to the loo on crutches? me, not the loo...lolol
tell you what Mum there was a time last week I didn't think i was gonna get OFF the loo !!!
oh no Rose--:(
roflol.....poor darling....
I hate being old - everything's starting to fall apart, move south or drop off!
pugs, self-inflicted. i had some fried dimsims from a cafe yesterday...fried foods not my best friends.
or give up working altogether
oh well, at least i've got me health!
I thouoght you were going to say everything coming out Wor-lol
surely not the important bit, dear...even DH's important bits work well still.
all I can say you guys got one shitty mess--lol
worzel, you forgot expanding, like my waistline.
gee, thanx, pugs...lololol
Well, the important bit still works, and as for expanding waistlines . . . I used to have one of them until this bug kicked in - i lost 13 pounds in two weeks thanks to that nasty little devil!!!
you got to start from the top Rose---eyes, hearing, teeth and so forth
did you have some kind of food poising Wor
bad spelling there,sorry
no pug - mum and me think it was down to the amount of antibiotics i had to take after my operation upsetting my inner ying and yang so to speak but i'm taking pro-biotic yoghurt drinks and am clearing up nicely as they say
or to put it in yours words - no shit
so sorry!!! lol
well very glad you are getting better now
thank you. And I have to give mum a big thank you (and everyone else who mentioned it) for the advice about anti-antibiotics xx
Rose I hope you get better before the funneral
I keep wanting to spell the zin. flower
I keep wanting a different grid - I don't like this one at all
its not as nice as the one yesterday for sure
pugs it appears to be only in the morning hours, thank goodness
the one yesterday made me feel I was getting better at these(and I see now that was false thinking)
yes, thank goodness for you on that Rose
and could someone explain why i feel like such a bitch? i have asked DH several times to replenish the bird bath water, and to put the clean blanket on our bed...i simply CANNOT do these things myself.
The last month or so there have been some nasty little grids - i haven't seen a big bugger for a long time now - i remember one day last summer there was a grid with about 800 words in - could do with one of them again soon so i feel like when i get to 100 i've achieved something lol
surely Don didnt call you such a name!
yeah, worzel, that was an amazing grid. i had so much fun with it.
Mum is DH your partner? If so go kick some ass (with your crutch, of course) and tell them if they don't do it I'll fly over to Aussie and stick a marrow where it hurts lol
no, pugs, but i feel such a heel having to ask him again and again.
Is he forgetting or just dont want to do it
*giggle* worzel DH is my dear husband. he suffers from domestic deafness.
So, I'm led to believe, do most men. Not me - if my gf is ill I force her into bed and run round the house like a mouse on LSD doing everything I can!
tell him Rose the birds are out there marching with signs on the protest of no water--lol
good for you, worzel, and i expect nothing less from you, dear.
Tell you what Mum - next time he "ignores" you just follow him around on your crutches, repeatedly saying (in a demonic voice) "They want you to do it, they want you to do it" lmao
lol, pugs....i would if i thought it would make a difference. anyway, after tomorrow, no excuses....
ROFLOL...worzel....
do you have a neighborhood kid that you could hire to do it?
good morning everyone
Anyways, I'm gonna leave you all 4 a bit now (oo-er!!) and go do some tidying up - got a nasty bathroom that needs cleaning - well, the bathroom's not nasty, but the mess is. I shall see you all in a while and if I don't see you before tomorrow Mum I hope everything goes peacefully and may your God, spirits or angels be with you xx
Morning Crossy, and hows the teeth
morning crossy and bye (i'm off, you see!) xx
why should i pugs? he really has nothing else that needs his sole attention...it's time he stood up and was counted....after tomorrow that is.
bye Wor --sounds like a fun job
thanx dear worzel. see you later
bye pug - i'm actually looking forward to it. As an ex professional cleaner I love cleaning - don't care about the mess - whatever it is I'll clean it!!! ta-ta xx
just to get it done so you dont have to worry over it Rose
Bye Mum xx
and g'day crossy
and . . . . . . . . . POOF
howdy, puglet, granny, teeth are ok for now. The one cracked in half has now been filled and has a metal band around it and everything is calm atm. I go back on the 23rd for a right side cleaning and so he can see how this one tooth has set. I think the retaining band comes off at that time
left side cleaning*
ugh, crossy, praying that all goes well with that
are you pain free now?
you just had a knee operation granny? how are you coming along?
yes, puglet,no real pain at the moment but teeth are all sensitive and the band is very uncomfortable
crossy, a lot better than last year. small( read large) problem with swelling in both legs, pain considerably less, and already have almost 90 degrees flexion.
thats the main thing--getting rid of that pain--glad you are doing better Crossy
inedd, puglet. I am coming along.it is a work in progress. I am glad things are improving for you ,granny
okay, dinner on the way. crossy hope the teeth continue to improve. pugs, catch you maybe tomorrow. xoxox
enjoy Rose and hugs and hope so too
and granny re: the DH and the chores, bird bath etc. as a guy I can tell you that the bird bath does not even likely hit his manly radar as a thing of any import and just keeps shuffling it down to the bottom of the to do list
generally,if the women are not happy,we are not happy, and even though we are lazy,we will try to do the things WE consider the mosr important first.if for no other reason that to have peace:))
you have much snow there crossy
you sound like you know this from experence Crossy-LOL
you may try making three honey-do lists and put them on the fridge. label them : MUST GET DONE NOW ,then label the next one: do this week and label the last one : do when you get around to it .lol
of course it is from experience.i am male and married to a woman lolol
bout 5 inches of snow on the ground
let me check the temp
it is minus 10c and looks like we got 4 more inches of snow last night
we have about 10 inches from the storm over the week end and another one is to hit us friday night and into saturday and our temps are the lowest in three years
what temps you getting?
3degree fh here right now and I dont know the windchill
had to do the conversion. you are about 3 degrees chillier than we are atm
as I recall minus 18c = 0f
do you have trouble getting out where you live
minus 40 same on both scales F and C
morning scouser
nope:))) I have a brand new jeep wrangler sahara. would need 4 feet of snow on the road to stop me now;))))
firm I worked for in Canada used to sell bridges made of "minus40 steel" to withstand low temps
morning all
howdy scouser
hello crosshair
just for chuckles last week,i went past the barriers on a road we have on the mountain that we close in the winter season.was great fun
whereabouts are you crosshair?
on Georgian bay at the base of blue mtn in central ontario
do you get snow where you are Scouser
snow squall warning has been issued.drive will be fun today as well
problem in uk when we get snow is it is wet and sticky and road surfaces not geared for winter nor are tyres though I saw some new carbon-fibre equivalents to chains the other day - look like a good idea
sounds like you like playing in the snow Crossy
yes,i have seen your "winter roads" you are just not set up for it. we would call that a light dusting
we have very little (fingers crossed) as we are sheltered by north Wales hills and Pennines
I do rather enjoy it,puglet
theres a pretty horrendous YouTube of some road in Wisconsin with idiot drivers going way too fast
I can picture a big snowman standing in your front yard
yes,we have our idiots as well
its two years since we had enough snow for a (very small) snowman
last storm,i had to pull people out if ditches and fields
it must not get very cold there Scouser
hey-ho 4-wheel drive(r) !
scouser,if you google "jeep wrangler sahara unlimited" you can see what I drive to play in the snow
do you ski too Crossy
no puglet it is rare to have temps below freezing for day s on end: last really bad one like that was 1962 - never over zeroC from December 21st to March 21st.
used to.knees and neck are not good enough for that now,but I do snowshoe
that sounds nice Scouser
one of our neighbours has a sahara. Misnamed for you at the moment! though wrangler must be what you have to do to drive it?
I would love to have a horse and sleigh for the winter months
lol, everything in brackets is the brand name
I cannot imagine my jeep on those narrow uk roads
years ago when Ma and Pa had a little Morris Minor car, they met an American car in a narrow road in Wales. The wife of the American leant out the window and held a handkerchief between the cars as they eased past each other without a scratch!
lol
I wonder if a horse costs as much as a car to run? at least horses are not taxed (at least I don't think they are?)
do you have to worry about avalanches Crossy from the mountains
suppose I had better get back to the puzzle - only 2/3 done .......
mrs is reading the james herriot books for the first time and is enjoying reading about the vet blasting around roads like that in his elderly morris minor with no floor boards
well the up keep isnt very cheap
no,puglet.compared our west coast mountains, Blue Mountain is a bump covered in snow at best
lol, scouser.with our distances over here,on a horse, it would be a 2 month round trip to visit my da
I need to slide out of her myself, so good day to you all and take care
tc ,puglet
I think for one of the films they found a Morris Minor half-timbered car: a proto-estate car, the one with an extended rear with lots of wood trim on the outside! There's at least one still on the road in south Liverpool.
funny thing is,i love the books, cannot stand the tv series
we never see those cars here, though we do get the Austin minis and a wide variety of MG,s and lots of elderly jags are still on the road
though once Ford bought out jaguar,it was not the same somehow. the interesting britt electrical systems used to provide hours, weeks, month of entertainment;))
I found the same about Terry Pratchett's books - wonderful to read, but no-one has come close to the version I have in my head - not that there have been many films yet, thank goodness.
sometimes, it is better not to look too hard for the film version of a good book
dont talk to me about car-electrics. I just had to fork out cash for a new heater fan assembly etc etc etc etc
:(( see? told you:/
though as a child I remember my dads beetle car from the 60,s. you had to drive with a window doan,no matter how cold it was, and have a ice scraper for the windscreen in your left hand at all times. there was just no real heater in the thing
very interesting when you examine the provenance of car parts: ex-RAF, ex-army, ex-ex-ex-(3or4 generations of completely different cars),
the beetle did well in Newfoundland because its tray underneath stopped stones from wrecking the engine and the transmission
indeed, scouser. take my jeep for example. it was built by willys-overland in 1941 for the army, then, became just a willys jeep, then AMC motors bought it and it evolved again and now Chrysler owns it
there not being paved roads except in St John's city centre and the Trans-Canada HIghway which was completed when we were there in the 60s.
we used to love them because the floor pan and narrow gauge tyres used to go through deep snow
Yes well it was designed for Germany which has lots of snow too
and with the engine in the back right over the drive wheels,it seldom was stuck in snow
but,no heat!
tough lot, the Germans!
I must go now. byee
well, sort of,my granpas brother used to mail home war trophys to my grammy in London.some of the things she got in the post used to make her hair grey
tc scouser
hi
howdy,harpjane

Free clues! Don't miss these!
Hi Scrabbs :)
And hi to everyone else too!
Hi Liz
You could've clued words I don't have!
Sorry that I leaked such tricky words.
lol
tna was a good one!
I missed the e on the keyboard
I was happily talking about whales and their young earlier and no one (including me) noticed the word I used!
Hm,...
I only realised, when I found the word about 30 mins later!
I still don't know which word it was.
I think the cute factor won the day, as I was talking about one of the photos on my flickr site.
Young whale.
Sorry - should've asked before I wrote that.
I had to look that up. I forgot young whales are called that.
I could've given you the stats. Anyway I have a picture of one poking its nose up next to its mum on my flikr site.
wow, scrabs -- winter wonderland indeed!!
Name for a young cow too
Yes, Une. We are on The Weather Channel now.
it was on jeopardy this week LOL!!
ca4?
Any clues for either of the first 2 an 6's?
yes :-)
don't have them, sorry
I'll keep looking then, thanks.
I have to get ready for work. It will be a slow drive.
Drive safely and have a good day.
Bye-bye.
be careful, scrabs!
first an 6 an + a doily is made of this
ty ivesy :)
I had to find just a few more words. Alright, I must go now.
Take care :)
yw....drive safe scrab.... im walking to work lol
How much snow have you all got?
we have almost a foot..with more expected
Brrrr! Don't miss snow in the least - though it is pretty when it first falls. But having to drive to work? So glad I've left that behind!
i am lucky i can walk to work.. just around the corner... driveway is amess.. car covered..ugh
That's good - the last time I drove home from work in the snow, a 40 minute journey took 4.5 hours and then I had to abandon my car and walk for an hour. The year before the same journey took 6 hours but at least I got home in the warm!
Is this much snow usual for where you live?
yes it is.. but these past few years we werent really getting that much. live near the lake so we lake effect snow.. early this year..
And then do you get hot summers too?
oh yes..very very humid.. in the 90's
Such contrasts! Where I am now, there's really not too much difference, though more so at night. It can get pretty humid in the summer but that doesn't generally last too long.
.winter is very depressing. esp if you are stuck in house.. at least with work i have a chance to get out.and there will die hards who come to library no mtter what the weather lol
That's really encouraging - to know that people still use libraries, in this technological age!
Think I'll leave the final 14 words for tomorrow. Have a good day, Ivesy, and stay warm and safe.
coffee time here too.. take care liz
fireworks :)

making a list of cookies to bake - need some new ideas - what are your personal favorites?
I've been making a list too, teach. I just ask Hubs for his favorites.
Snickerdoodles is always at the top of his list.
what are his favorites?
choclate chip
love those - just some to my DH department Xmas party yesterday
He also wants some white chocolate macadamia nut.
sugar cookies.
I also make a sugar cookie that is crisp.
never tried the white chocolate macadamia nut - but staying away from nuts - grandson just identified with nut allergies
gingerbread, sugar cookies--always easy to add different flavorings like almond or make into thumbprints.
refrigerator cookies. haven't had them in forever
hmmm, they had nuts.
always helpful to have a basic recipre that you can change around to get different things
I do choclate chip cookies and add almond extract instead of vanilla. Now you know my secret ingredient.
time for brekkies. bbl hagd everyone!
I make a refrigerator oatmeal that is yummy too.
make a basic oatmeal - and then add different things to it - raisins, craisin, chocolate chips
I have several years of the Taste of Home annual cookie mag that I pull from.
Hubs does not like the basic oatmeal but loves the refrigerator oatmeal.
just looked up taste of home - have cookie recipes on line
how is the refrigerator oatmeal and regular oatmeal different?
morning..weird thing, my add box is showing me all the words I have entered so far as I enter a new one with the same first letter
The refrigerator oatmeal is made in a roll and then the cookies are sliced off. They are thinner and not as much oatmeal.
Try rebooting, phae.
ok
Good frosty morning, y'all!
I also like a candy cane cookie that uses the candy cane kisses on top.
fireworks.
Yea for mixi!

Celebratory cocktail in order.
Hello all. Just getting a start here in the misty but 40 degree great Northwest. Chicken in the pot and kale cooking.
Hello, stidgmere. Often gets rather quiet when the grid is small. Good luck.
Hello o-o. I was distracted by talking to stidmama. We visit after she finishes work most afternoons.
a balmy minus 8c or 18 American here atm a winter wonderland;)
We were treated to about two weeks of freezing weather and that reminded me why I do not by choice reside in the true Winter Wonderland (just the great Northwest.)
it's 7 degrees F here....brrrrr....
Good morning all :) I could tell you the temp here, but perhaps that would just be teasing!
brrr..penquis
Oh my penquis, I can empathize with correctness now.
You could tell us, liz but it won't change our cold weather stories. I am picturing you walking along the beach picking up lovely shells.
thing is,after 30 years of running service station.i no longer have to work outside for a living!! yaaa! bring it on!! 8 feet of snow and minus 40!!
Perhaps later today! I really do sympathise with you all, when it's so cold!
we had green grass until about 10 days ago....
someone else can freeze their butt off in the winter and boil in the summer! mwahaha
clue for an 6 / 18 pls. I'm sure I've been playing around it for a while, but just can't find it.
an + mr Armstrong astronaut
We had brown grass until the day before yesterday, when it poured - it's turned green again now :)

watching prison break series on Netflix now, mimi
Mimi - hugs.
So happy to read that your dinner with your daughter went so well.
And hi o-o.
yes, mimi.gald it all worked out well
I have a funny story for you guys. I had made my daughter my chicken paprikash which she LOVES and hadn't had in over a year. She emailed me this morning and said she was LIVID...her boyfriend had eaten it all...she only got one lunch and one dinner. I asked if he was home when she discovered he had eaten it and, if so, to which hospital we should send flowers!
Thanks, Liz and crossy. Yes, it went very well. So good to have my baby girl back.
lol! So, she'll just have to come over again and you'll make it for her again!
So I got to be the heroine of the story...I told her mama would make her another batch this weekend and he couldn't have any.
yup, never deliver it.she has to come visit to get some
12 degree farenhieght in columbus ohio brrrrrrrrr
Could be grounds for a break-up if he does it again! Just joking!
best I have ever felt here in the time I have lived in this area is minus 44c.lets see if we can beat that this year:))
Oh, paprika chicken as the cause of a crime of passion. Who would have thought? The beginning of a whole new series for crossy to watch. The entree murders. Chicken paprika, or Crime passionel; Duck ala orange, or Done in at Ontario; and the like.
lol,stidmere
Well, she recognized that this was VERY inconsiderate of him. He said "well, it's just food," and I GASPED. It has taken me 20 yrs. to perfect this dish!
JUST food???!
Crossy...love Prison Break.
This man really has a death wish!
Kraft dinner is JUST food. scarfing down ramen noodles is JUST food
Really---it take me all day to make this!
I agree, mimi, just food is like the reason for most of our territorial motivations if you boil it down to basics.
So I guess that except in the name of family harmony, you're not inviting him over!
Plus, it isn't an inexpensive dish to make.
You know, Liz, this is HER issue, not mine. If she's OK with him and happy, I will be, too. Not my place to judge.
...but if he ever hurts her...they will never find his body!
I know, Mimi. I really was just joking!
Look in the chicken paparika.
That'd be too good for him stidg.
True, liz but i'm going for poetic justice.
I've decided to take a more passive role in my children's lives and simply be there as support rather than supply a lot of advice. You cannot imagine how evolved that is for me.
woohoo...i am done!
In that case, heavy handed on the paprika (but still think that's a bit of a waste!)
Congrats, pen :)
ty!
Good decision, Mimi.
Hey, stid, I live in the desert....lots of places to get rid of a body. Used to lie awake at night and think of methods to kill my (now ex) husband and get away with it....I think I actually do have a good plan!
Congrats penquis!!
Oh, the desert holds many secretes.
And vultures?
But I'm actually such a pacifist that I don't even kill crickets that get into the house....catch them and put them outside. I'm all talk!
ty, stid...
Hooray for pen!
Same here. Only I leave to my hubby and he puts the bugs outside!
I put spiders out and wasps, I have a nice system that involves a glass and a piece of cardboard (thin.)
I've used that method - it's a good one.
ty, mimi...
My ex is actually coming over this weekend and I'm taking him to dinner for his birthday. I'm also putting him to work helping me "build" my patio.
I have to admit I will kill flies though because they're just unhygienic in the house.
Good payment!
Maybe we could sell the apparatus on Ebay, liz. Make a fortune and all that.
mimi was it a popular band u sang with?
my patio is under 4 feet of snow now.the mrs cannot get me doing anything to it till thaw in the spring:))))\
He's very sad now because of the way his girlfriend is treating him..and it makes me mad, too. I'm sympathetic even though this is the woman he was seeing BEFORE we split up.
Sounds like a good idea to me stidg
well,he made that bed:(
Wow, shorty...what a memory! No, you would not have heard of us. But I did some recording for background vocals and that was fun.
You know, I really do want him to be happy. I don't hold a grudge because I'm just so glad to not be married to him anymore!
What type of music, Mimi?
oh ok how come u stopped?
Liz, until 3 yrs. ago I sang with a classic rock band...we mostly did covers. Want to get back on stage so badly.
My fav type of music.
Fireworks.
yaa for liz!!!
My health took a wrong turn, shorty, this time around. Originally I stopped because singing became a job and I loved it too much to feel that way about it. Also, it was looking too much like I might get famous and NEVER wanted that.
Congrats Liz!!
ty. Any clues before I go?
Clever Liz!
really u didn't want to be famous?
lol
Oh, NOOO!! What a pain! You lose your privacy. I just wanted to sing because I really love the process. I am classically trained in voice, you know. So, I keep the voice up hoping one day I'll be rocking out at some geriatric function!
I would love to be anonymously wealthy!
Same here! And on that happy note, I'll love you and leave you! Hugs to all :)
many famouse artists had the problem. your music was no longer your own.the record company owned you
Hugs back, Liz...so good to touch base with you.
famous
I do like an audience, crossy, but I truly enjoy just "rehearsing" by myself and the joy of singing in and of itself.
It's kind of like writing for me. It's nice when others relate to it, but the satisfaction comes from just the process itself.
Well all for me now. Time to rescue dinner from the oven. Best wishes to all a good night.
Night, stid!
Well, going to finish my batch of the paprikash. I have to admit, it is soooo good! And I guess there will be more this weekend! Good night to all and hugs all around.
night mimi
good evening all

what i used to call the republican candidate during campaign
Romney spawn; mittens
oh
that's good joso
thought they had boys
;)
I like romney spawn :D
who can tell. mitt is like a ken doll.
wonder if mrs Romney is called catch
or Barbie??
I will never make it to the flip tonight.. tooo tired
Mitt and Barbie?
whatever. he is as sensitive to the masses as a plastic doll.
well if he is a ken doll....
barbie doesn't have genitals either
if he were a ken doll he'd be neutered
there's a store in SF that has a display of Barbie and ken in several sexual positions ..it is hilarious
they were actually sued by Mattel and Mattel lost in court
i never thought barbie cared much for ken
ken is gay anyway
anyone with that perfect of hair
i didn't know
+ he wears sweaters
ken was always the date barbies dad would pick for her
we were rather mean to ken when we were children
ken was not very exciting... goes with the name
wearing sweaters is gay?
*note to self Interview Mab's child shrink*
not for women
oh
Ken (as a rule) is a loser's name :D
ruru!
:D
hi dorens
* so Mab.. you took the ken doll and did what with him?*
Mab in a squeaky voice.. " I can't say " I can't say.. " he was BAD for Barbie
i don't recall... is that the phone?
So, Paul is a doll expert? And, is the final authority on the worthiness of names? What a guy!
who is paul?
ruru is paul?

Oh, another authority

sorrry
never mind
The voice pf experience?
backing away slowly
good idea mabs
on tippy toes
*passes out ruby slippers*
and a little dog

ease up o-o, you are applying roberts rules to an abbot and costello conversation
there's no place like home
LOL
oh oh. watch out joso
roberts rules?
roberst rules of order
who's on first?
what?
Ken (as a rule) is a loser's name :D

oo must be ken do you get into street fights often, oo?
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everyone doing today
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Hooray!
teasing, i do apologize
i'm an expert in bullying (at least I'm the "anti-bullying specialist" at my school. Ruru's sensse of humor might not appeal to everyone, but i don't see how it could be possibly seen as bullying.
hi min
Not saying rupaul bullied
how interesting, dorens, being the anti-bullying person
and mab;s comment about oo being ken surely wasn;t meant that way, it was clearly a response to your taking offense at the comment about ken being a loser's name. Which was certainly a joke. why get upset about it? we need calmer attitudes here
and your opinion means nothing
blankets of apologies
sorry about typos... no lights in this room and i don't feel like putting them on.
sorry about typos... no lights in this room and i don't feel like putting them on.
oh, o o I am sorry you feel that way.
a joke? now you can read people's minds too?
ok. good night everybody! drive safely!
no, but how on earth could a name be a loser's name? it;s just a name... Of course that was a joke. Good night
gn mab
fade to black, roll credits
Sure. in your opinion ..... which means less by the nanosecond
and your opinion 00?
means what?
go back to your bowser bang
don't make me stop the car, you kids.
if I knew what a bowser bang was
i don't want to take away your high fructose syrup, but i will.
LOL MAB
Fun group of bullies
silly
take some deep breaths
you're essentially among friends.
