we finished butt cold last week, this week the school sprinkler system sprang a leak and it's warmer but very rainy
they are around but usually more discreet (the engliosh brought them out originally to hunt of course - along with the rabbits!)
wow, school sprinklers must have been a rude awakening for some students
well, it was in the teacher's lounge during our lunch! LOL but disrupted school the rest of the day of course, and made the following day challenging too. I stayed dry since I was lunching with kids in the classroom (love my literary club time)

Last time our "granddog" visited, she got excited and peed in the living room. I sprayed it and cleaned that area, but I noticed tonight when she arrived, she sniffed that area. Is she going to pee there again? What else can I do besides clean the area?

Have them take her first out to the back yard BEFORE she comes in the house and have her do her business so that she doesn't do it again
IF she goes to the area.. you tell her no.. LEAVE IT
hmmm, ammonia-based cleaner would have 'wiped' out her scent. lay down newspaper over the area. or get some aluminium ammonium sulphate spray. cats, dogs, birds, possums do not li4 it.
you can also have a squirt gun with H20 so if she sniffs it you can squirt her and reinforce the no

k... so far tonight, we didn't find any piddles... sniffed once and Lindz told her "No!" and she left area... was just not sure what to expect tomorrow.
Sponge the area with a baking soda solution to take away the odor or white vinegar will probably work too.
make sure she goes outside before getting excited in the house

sometimes ammonia cleaner - which smells like urine - will actually attract dogs though

I don't know if vinegar will discolor the carpet or not. I use an enzyme cleaner from the pet store for my cats. Don't have a dog.

Exactly, ru, breed is prone to bladder infections, too. I actually think last time when it happened, she was just really excited to see my hubby. They are buddies, and she had been in the car 2 hours... I think she didn't stay outside long enough before they brought her in the house.

I broke my ankle Dorens and dislocated my foot so all the tendons and ligaments were damaged as well. I have plates and pins but just need to let it heal slowly. I try to be patient but there are so many things I can't reach on my own. I just want to get back on my feet sooner rather than later.

I tutor a 14 year old boy twice a week so his parents have been good about bringing him to me since I can't get into his house. He has asked them to give us an extra half hour so he has time to make me a cup of tea before he goes. What a sweetie!

bugs, the boy I tutored (mumble mumble) ago is now a young man! He was working as stage crew for the play Grant was in at the college, and when I saw him... it was so funny! He didn't recognize me at first, although he DID remember me... and he had completely missed Grant... LOL last time he saw Grant he was barely waist-high.
Speaking of how tall, seems my Grant who stopped growing in 9th grade is on the move again... I'll have to get his tux and suits altered soon!
Not too bad TO. I got to ride in an ambulance, use a wheelchair and crutches and people give me a break if I am cranky. I also get out of cooking Christmas dinner and shopping. I just sent cheques to everyone and told them to buy the grands stuff they wanted and use their share however they want.

i had cortizsone shots in the hips this week.
snapped it Nov 18 and it was put back together 2 days later. Not eating, drinking or moving for 2 days in case I had surgery was the worst part.

I am thinking (not really changing the subject -- much) that I would like soapstone counters in my kitchen. Birch on the island, but soapstone on the perimeter by the stove and sink. What do you think, bugs?

I think that it's more forgiving than granite if I accidentally drop something ceramic on it.

soapstone is a metamorphic rock ...
I thot of that too at first before I remembered just how soft it can be.
does that mean it will absorb smells and moisture o-o?
The thing is, also unlike granite, soapstone is inert and impervious to acid, base and oils...
It's okay with putting really hot things on it and really cold things, and although it is "soft" compared to some materials, it is still more durable than wood and more refinishable compared to laminates.
that sounds like a huge plus stid. How is it on the pricing scale.
I have to go to some of the suppliers. In some areas it's actually comparable to laminate, but around here it seems it will be close to the same cost as granite.
But... Tom's folks have offered to help pay for the countertops.
Well I am not a huge fan of granite because of the breakability factor but this sounds really good, especially because you can refinish it like proper hardwood floors
