yes, just looked out, mild winds, but oddly, the cat decided he wanted to come in - seldom happens, he has decided he is an outdoor cat and wishes to be fed at the office door
we have had some pretty bad fires, but lots of rain in the last 24 hours. praying that it is heading to the fire areas. we did have a lot of smoke for nearly a week.

service was lovely, lunch sooo good. full carvery and seafood buffet. came home and crashed on the bed for 2 hours. had to sleep off all that food.

pug, it took me ages and ages to find her... she is specialised in ptsd and thinks outside the box and is a great person too. Am not positive I can find another one like her. And I have had my fill of bad therapists, to be honest.
can she help you to find a replacement---or do you think you can handle things on your own
will contact her this week and talk things through with her. I think I am almost ready to go out on my own. We could probably manage to wrap it up this calender year. And I want to know what she is going to do... seems she will go work together with the psychiatrist who does the family constellations... so maybe I can do something there.

it was nasty! Thank goodness for the barbecue, so we could cook and make coffee etc! Cooked up a load of meat from the freezer, so didn't lose too much of that!

Worst thing was that even in summer it gets dark about 6.30 - 7.00 here, so the nights were really long!

i know not eating right plays a big part...:( i am not a good diabetic..but at least the side effects from the shots have stopped.
perhaps allow yourself a set number of ciggies a day? That way you are preparing for quitting, you are already doing good things for your body and you can still handle the stress better.

I'm loving life right now, peri. I make my own hours, work at home, take off when I want and have time to do other things and some money to spend on them. What a difference from last year. I was able to send my son money for his 33rd birthday on Thurs. That really felt good.

When we were kids, we had 2 sets of clothes for the week: one set for school, and when we got home from school we put on the everyday clothes for the rest of the day. As the person who does the grocery shopping, I am constantly dodging the lost looking individuals who are on their phones saying "Hey, do we need Cap'n Crunch? Okay, Crunch Berries or regular?"

I hate any kind of shopping. If I go; I get in and out of the grocery store as fast as possible: I have a list, use coupons if they are cheaper, and will buy extras only if I know we need them and the price is better than usual. DH will always take 2-3 hours; but if the 2 of us go together; it's about 3- 3 1/2 hrs and the bill is humungous!
My husband had five brothers and a mother who didn't have time to run after him. As a result he now does all the housework except the ironing and we go shopping together at the weekend. We have never had mobile phones so we don't have that problem. We write notes and talk to each other. Not bad after 44 years together.
I neither take nor make calls whilst grocery shopping. I know what the weekly requirements are & I know whats running low. As I'm the one who is paying, the buck stops with me!

jaxx, I've seen some really bad pictures of those floods. I feel bad for the people there. I've lived in both Fargo North Dakota and Grand Forks, ND, and know how awful those floods can get. (That area used to flood 8 out of 10 years because the Red River of the North ran north into Canada and when the mouth of the river is frozen, the water has no where to go but out
They pay their CE more per year than our Prime Minister earns for running the country - if you can call it running. I think we should stop supporting Oxfam and get the money to Somerset and Surrey instead.
They should actually start a flood relief appeal on UK TV. They do this in Aus - with outlets at banks and supermarkets, so everyone who can contribute, does.
I saw that a couple of those areas have flooded a bit in the past; but nothing like this before, right?

As far as I know the Red Cross has been singularly silent on the subject. Ironically the RSPB had persuaded the Environment agency to remove sea defences in Somerset so they could see whether the land could be made fit for wading birds etc. They have the waders but not the ones they expected.

They have flooded in the past but the problem has been compounded by idiots like the RSPB and the last Labour Government which allowed building on flood plains. The water has nowhere to go. It cannot soak into concrete and the trees that would have soaked up some of the water have been cut down.

Talking of sand bags there are a group of rotters going around selling sand bags to the elderly and saying they will deliver them tomorrow but don't.
usually we start hearing about March what the projected flooding of the Red River Valley (of the north) and then they start sending out calls for "X" number of sandbags needed to protect both Fargo/Moorhead and Grand Forks/East Grand Forks. Because this happens so often up here, lots of people even here in the Twin Cities (200-300 miles away) will go and help fill sandbags.
