evening, ru, dee, diz, et al :) Lovely to see yall :)
hi seain
you're up late
ru, did you hear about your offers?
yes.. we accepted one and a nice back up offer too
we close in 30 days
Fantastic!! Congratulations!
they are paying cash for the house
Even better!
ot
oh ..it is really a great offer. .for a little over the asking price.. they weren't fooling around
You must be relieved :)
my wine cellar is going to become a fur closet though :D
they don't drink
LOL... that is a real waste!
wr 7
no kidding
it's a really cool cellar
But, as long as they are happy, that is all that matters.
from wine to politically incorrect clothing
what kind of furs, ru?
I was afraid to ask
she's a bazillionair
oh, well. Cash is cash.
I guess.. kind of creeped me out a bit
Where will the wine go now
to my cellar at my new house
Wonder if the people you bought from are teetotalers --
sounds like it.. it's a shame.. it's one of the best things about the house
Just teasing. All is good if you're satisfied. Moving can be fun. Unpacking, though . . . . ugh.
yes. that's the worst part I guess
Parents used to tell a story about a woman in Tennessee they stayed with during the War (WWII, The War, right?). She gave away all her wine and stocked the cellar with hundreds of cans of rationed food.
Flood came along and removed all the labels. The whole town cheered.
there's a lesson in that gluttony I guess
Two lessons: I think the wine was supposed to have been very very good.
I'm off to walk the quiet streets in the neighborhood. Filled with about 100,000 tourists yesterday. Still some random bangs going off - it's chinatown around the corner
oh.. I bet
i'm in the city tomorrow all day
Have a good babble. And a smooth move. And a remunerative, if foggy, Monday ru. See ya.

evening, flo and cosmo.
oh the 9 is a pretty combo
hi seain don't see you too often either - time difference I presume
part that, and part i only in the last few days have i been meaningfully engaging in the chog again.
it's been like a homecoming week here thus far, which has been very lovely to see. So many old and new faces :)
yes, after following a thread on FB, have decided to come back myself to be part of the babble family and friends :)
it has been a lovely couple of grids and chats too
that was such a very useful conversation there, agreed, mrp.
glad to hear it mrp - we've missed you
thanks for the wa8 -- a verboten word in my industry in most contexts along with 'guar****.
I've missed you all too
Why have you avoided the chat dc?
Did i ask a verbotten question?
a lot of us have ruru
Ok.. i will bite ...why?
I wasn't baiting you hunny. I personally was tired of the bullying. Other people have reasons why, that differ to mine, but essentially they don't want to chat either during ceertain convos
Ok. That is their choice then..
good morning all

that is a good thing, ro4. Never wait with resting till you have to... small spans of action with rest in between is the ticket, grin.
Glad you're feeling good ro 4
liz, is it getting any warmer up th5?
aw why is that, Liz? The weather?
No - marathon here this weekend - loads of tourists. Full boat so they phoned and asked if we'd mind giving it a miss.
Not a problem.
It's in the low 20s by day but down to about 8 / 9 at night.
yeah, not much fun with a full boat anyway.
True - that was the problem last week and why I didn't get any good shots.
Still we're so spoiled going so often.
ks killed
liz, that's about the same he4. at night anyway.
Step son said it was really cold in Melbourne this weekend ( I think)
It's lovely in the sun by day - cold in the shade though.
oh yeah. especially at 9am sunday when we were sitting outside watching football game.
Not envious of you doing that - but I bet you enjoyed it - just watching Deacon :)
Sprite - hope all goes really well for you today.
i just adore watching deacon play. he has the most gorgeous pair of legs, muscles well developed.
I'd better be off, brush my teeth and get me something to eat for after the bloodwork. *hugs* and sleep well, you aussies, and have a good day for the rest.
thanks Liz :)
Now now - he's a bit young to be ogling his legs!
You have a good day too.
* giggling * th5 we4 a couple of episodes of a ball of arms and legs. one time deacon was the one on the bottom of the heap.
He was OK though?
good luck sprite. hope all goes well with no hitches today. xoxox
oh yes, he was fine. granny wasn't though.
son and hubby had to hold me back from running onto the oval.
I bet you weren't - til you saw him get up and start running again. Time for a post-gym snack - glad to have caught up with you. Perhaps catch you later. Hugs Rose and Sprite.

Hello to anyone here. I have the eight lettered word.Is the nine lettered word related to the eight at all?
Hello zoom. No, the nine is sh9/84.
Ah okay thank you, Frances!
Found the SH 9/84.Thank you once again, Frances.Alas I am also in the PB for OK 4/10 tsk.
Thank zoom. I'd completely missed the ok4/10.
Oh haha in that case you are most welcome :-)
The Penalty Box is well stocked, as is the bar in there. I think that ok word will snag a lot of people today.
hehe yes I think you are right there, Molly.Still it is nice and comfy in the PB.Will settle down and munch on a few snacks before any more babblers arrive in here :-)
Of course, since most people tend to abbreviate these days, I could be wrong. In which case, all the more for you, Zoom.
I am used to being on my own so no worries there..lol
Well Zoom, as Paulo Coehlo says...Solitude is not the absence of company, but the moment when our soul is free to speak to us and help us decide what to do with our life.
good morning all.
Good morning Sukee
Hello, Sukee :-)
How is everyone today?
My lips are above the water level : D
Well, that is always good.
All well here, Sukee. How about yourself?
So so, still missing my kitty but getting used to it.
understandable as it was not that long ago.No thoughts on a new little friend then?
I'm giving myself about a month. I do find myself thinking I want another one :)
Since I live alone it would be nice to have another cat to hug and talk to :)
On another point, I cleaned up some stuff and found what I think is mould. Have to get the super to check it out.
Mould is not good.I would most certainly get it sorted.
I think you already know you would like another cat, Sukee. Why wait a month :-)
I want to get the apartment cleaned up, get rid of other cat smells and I have some furniture to get rid of.
Besides, I have to wait until the end of the month to afford a new cat. I'm due for an interest payment on my pension.
Sounds like a plan all coming together :-)
I haven't been without a cat in my life for over 35 years, other than about a two month gab. I think the odds are I will have another one.
I think it's good that you are waiting until you are comfortable to get another pet. You will know when the time is right.
gap
There are some sweet rescue cats out there and they let you know exactly what type of home the cat needs.
Where is the mould, Sukee. Is it like a bathroom mould or more serious do you think?
It is just off the kitchen where I had some flooding when the sink backed up and the water vacuum they left behind overflowed.
It's just one corner.
Hoping it's easily treated.
Does not sound to bad at all.Should be treated easily enough.
I had a pile of cardboard boxes piled up there, ones the cat had chewed on. Threw them all out yesterday and discovered this.
Well, I have to get ready to go out to the gym.
I should think pleanty of ventilation would be enough to get rid of the damp. Once it is given a good clean.Have a good day, Sukee :-)
Take care :)
Plenty*
I like the combination of plenty and lean. It's like wishing you had plenty when things are lean. : )
hello Molly and Zzoozz
no news
Hello, Ruby.
When are you expecting the news, Ruby?
how hot is it there, zzoozz?
I thought I'd have it today but it looks like Friday
Not too bad now, Ruby, around 22c
It's much hotter here, will probably be around 35 this afternoon
It's hard to have to wait for news like that. Candle lit Ruby
A bit of time to wait then. Is, Burt, still in hospital?
Sounds like my type of heat, Ruby!
35 is bout 90 or 95?
Burt was only in hospital for one night but now |I'm making arrangements for 2-days/week adult day care
That is correct Bich
Closer to 100F and Hello, Bichon
Oh, my converter said 95...my apologies
The stone houses retain the cool though.
Good idea, Ruby, It will help you a lot if you get that.
sorry, I just do a rough calc, 5C = 10F
Hi ruby and good luck today. Hugs from Marco/Polo
The flowers lover the heat, especially the geraniums
bonjour, ruby -- so sorry you're having to wait till Friday xxoo
No matter Ruby, I consider anything over 90F stupid hot. And we have the humidity to add to that.
bonjour, une
Is it humid in Anency?
Not humid and very pretty. I really don't mind it
I just don't go outside unless forced
How are your dogs coping with the heat?
Chows have really thick fur
they find relatively cool spots and don't move much
and I keep bringing them ice cubes for their water
I need to get going.(((Ruby))) Keep your chin up.You are a strong lady. Happy babbling everyone.

hi annie and trif :)
Mrp, how delightful to see you here
hi mrp
Hi kids.
Howdy, Scrabby:)
hi scrabs :)
hi Scrabbs
good to see you too trif :)
scrabbler!!! boy, do I wish you were here right now....I need help with a student, hooooo boy!
oh what is the student doing trif?
Aw, what is the problem, Trif?
not coming to school. Ever. Hasn't attended one day since november. Supposed to have come to summer school today - no show. Parents are saying he has PANDAS, but have yet to show one piece of documentation supporting that. Poor kid....crippling anxiety problems, for which the parents have done NOTHING - no therapy, no meds.
So very sad.
oh the poor kid
Poor kid needs to learn coping strategies. And to not be avoidant.
Reading up on that now. terrible thing, but it seems quite treatable with the proper medication and intervention
all the K's are done! yay!
Anyone following the Tour de France?
just got a text from the mom - they arent sending him to summer school, want a home tutor. which the school doesn't want to provide, as these parents are a tricky ass business - basically, this is what they have wanted all along. They want their kids to be home schooled, and they want the school to provide teachers for them, at no cost. Well, sorry, but that isnt' how public school works.
They are enabling their son to be paralyzed by his anxiety.
100% scrabbler. it's easier for them to keep him at home, and have someone come to the house. And that's fine, but it's not with in the public school realm to send a private tutor to the home of every kid who doesn't feel like coming to school. i mean, I dont' mean to sound unsympathetic, but this is, i think, their third kid they have tried this on. They are a tricky, tricky family
Did the city provide a tutor for the other 2 kids?
dont' know, it was before my time. All i know is that this kid had to be dragged out of the car every day for Kindergarten, was home schooled 5th and 6th grade, attended 7th grade and got all A's, stopped coming to 8th grade in November, and the parents claim he was diagnosed with PANDAS in January and are acting like that explains everything, and a 21 day course of antibiotics is all that he needed to be "cured" - I am so done with them.
clearly their son has a crippling anxiety disorder, which could be managed with the right meds and talk therapy. neither of which they have ever pursued. And now the mom is blowing up my phone with messages, claiming she has a "right" to have me come to their home - which is completely not my decision to make.
I feel sorry for the child. How will he cope when he is no longer in the school system remains to be seen. He needs help.
'morning folks
jeesh. you need a license to catch a fish, as they say....
good morning welki
It is a very tricky situation. My middle child had to go to school and always hated it. He was a bit traumatized by his experience there and I wish I had chosen a different route for him. Though it is not good to allow him to avoid that experience entirely, it is understandable that they want to spare him the trauma. However, these parents do seem a bit overwhelmed and not able to make good decisions. Unfortunately, there aren't any good, solid, pat answers to this problem. I feel very sorry for the entire family and hope they'll find a good counselor who can guide them through these decisions and how to deal with all this.
We see this happen. Parents that do not act as parents, rather, they are their child's friend.
((mimi))
howdy, welki
i feel sorry for trif, too - parents can be the worst thing about teaching
mimi, you are totally preaching to the choir. I was BADLY bullied in sixth grade, and seventh and eighth grade were sheer hell. But my mom advocated for me, got me an excellent counselor, and we worked with the school guidance counselors as well. There are solutions, but the parent need to step up.
Children need to be prepared for adulthood and must learn to adapt regardless of their personality.
((crossy)) Was up at 4 and made the mistake of watching Pearl Harbor again...cried uncontrollably for nearly an hour but know it wasn't just because of the movie.
thanks welki. Not to sound like a complete shrew, but I am pissed about the money. I didn't find another summer gig, as I had this one, and now, if I don't, I am going to end up WAY short.
Not all tears are evil, some are cleansing.
I'm sorry that happened to you Trif...but I'm so glad you had good help.
You're right, crossy...I've been avoiding emotion like the plaque. However, as someone once said, they may be cathartic but are not necessarily healing.
(((((soft gentle hug for mimi...)))))
how about a compromise? is there a school-sanctioned neutral place you could meet? like a library?
((Mimi))
Thanks, Trif....appreciate it.
((Scrabbler))
would keep the kid 'in school,' and you in a job
that was offered, the parents turned it down flat. They want what they want, and that's it and that's all. again - tricky
blech.
Has anyone else noticed that all the wrong people seem to be reproducing?! I know I'm cynical.
this mom is driving me nuts. She is so obviously trying to trip me up, trick me into saying I will come to the house. I dont' need to get in trouble with the admin, thanks very much
I would most definately stay within the school board guidelines in dealing with this bunch. They seem to have an ulterior motive planned.
Parents often do not realize it is their job to raise their children to LEAVE them. They need to provide the emotional support and the skills to make their children independent.
Sadly, they are doing so at their child's expense:(
hahah mimi - we said that in reverse this weekend. Some man in Texas purposely jumped in to water that was posted "no swimming - alligators" and his friends tried to talk him out of it, but he said "f*** the alligators!" and jumped in anyway. It took about 10 seconds for the alligators to say "no, dude, F YOU" and he was dead in minutes. I would say that cleaned the gene pool some.
Surrender the decision to management, Trif.
Guess he is up for this years darwin award;)
Im sitting here at this desk until 12, as I was told to, and they are damn well going to pay me for it.
Trif, so did the guy in Maine who set off a mortar firework on his head.
Let's say a collective "duh" on that one, Trif.
There was an idiot on the 4th setting off fireworks off and on for FIVE hours here in the parking lot where there are cars with gasoline!! I finally called the police as it is illegal to set off fireworks. However, Arizona totally makes no sense about its laws as they made it legal to BUY fireworks but still illegal to set them off....duh again.
Hi All
((hego))
oh, GROSS molly!
Buon giorno, Hego.
that is bizarre, mimi
hi hego
I just got ey7:)
Hey Mimi. How are you?
This guy periodically sets off a certain one that is so loud it makes me jump and my cats run and hide. Then he strategically goes and hides in his apt. fast so we can't figure out who he is. Been doing this for at least a year.
we went to plymouth harbor in Massachusetts to watch the fireworks. We parked somewhere for free, and at the house next to the parking lot this idiot dog was yapping it's fool head off. We had a blast of a night, and finally made it back to the car a good five hours later - dog was STILL BARKING.
Trying to heal, hego. Thanks for asking.
Good healing vibes out to Mimi.
Glad everyone had a good fourth.
I have a crazy bird that won't stop shrieking all day...I'm an animal lover but I swear if I had a gun.....
fiendishly searching for ey7s - eyerake? eyesoak?
Thanks, hego. How are you doing and do you have travel plans at the moment?
lol trif
trif so4
I was doing the same thing.
hahaha mimi....I say the same thing about the horny frog who SCREAMS for a mate every night. "Go home horny, little dude. Not happening for you tonight"
Oh Trif, so close, but no Bill Clinton cigar for you
Penalty box for me....eyesore, Trif.
I had dinner out with friends Saturday evening and left the town at 7:55. I knew there were fireworks planned so I avoided the main intersection, but then I got turned around because of the parade! It took me three tries (and 2 turn-arounds) to get out of that town.

:)
My pleasure, Trif......I almost never get to clue so thrilled to do so!
4th column E and Y stats please?
I think i am going to head home. the kid isn't coming, I can make up the hours later in the week, and I have stuff to do at home.
assuming I still have a job, later this week
Going to try to make some breakfast. You wouldn't believe what a challenge that is using a walker and then having to put the plate on the counter, move it to the baker's rack, then move it to the table by the couch where I can reach it. But I'm adapting as truly necessity is the mother of invention and I'm determined to stay independent.
been there, done that.
You should get a restaurant table bus cart , mimi:)
good idea!
You can use it as a walker in the kitchen, plus it will hold all your brakfast fixins
breakfast
The problem is that I can't use my hands for anything when using the walker. Luckily, I can walk independently a little bit just long enough to go from refrigerator to microwave.
4th column e and y stats please?
I am really missing the wr's
Thanks, crossy, but I don't know if it would hold me sufficiently as I seem to need something I can rest both arms on on each side and not totally in front. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

no cricketing terms in the dictionary then? "york and "yorker" are perfectly valid words....
it's a crappy dictionary
and a common source of babble crabbiness
Afternoon. Hint for the he6, 30 please - it's driving me nuts1
It is a legal term...compound word. One word is 4 letters, the other is two
The two letter words starts the novel ....Mice and Men
Ah...add a consonant to the front for a 7!
From top or bottom h?
tyer
oops
bottom
Do I need to download of Mice and Men?! I read it a million years ago!
No, just saying that the two letter word is the first word of that title
....we go round the mulberry bush + ....Mice and Men
Then add the consonant at the beginning for the 7
Phew - thank you all!!
Phew - thank you all!!
Even went and checked the first line of Steinbeck!!
Lesson learned, I should have used the word "title" in my clue. It pays to be VERY specific here.
Yes - with one eye on Wimbledon I need that!

No, it's a clue in the form of the chorus from a song by Gerry and the Pacemakers.
Bich, boats that take people from one side of the inlet to the other
ty Doug, fl. I had that one Molly
Although in the song, it was used a verb, to travel on one of those boats.
Yes, no one asked for it, but it was given nonetheless
Appreciated

Song close to my heart as a Liverpool girl. Thanks Douglas.
Good old song.
hello friends. WHere are you today Hego?
Hi Bugs! I'm home.
I don't Babble on vacation.
Oh. I had visions of the two of you sitting on a patio overlooking the hills of Italy.
I wish!
Good for you to not be so anal. Some of us are still struggling with letting it go when we travel.
Are you having fires out there?
yes. There is a large one on the north of the island that is sending ash down to Victoria and Vancouver. We are totally overcast here of course but the sunset was brilliant last night.
Jill posted a picture of the smoke cloud.
it is very dry here
Sorry to hear that.
people in Vancouver have been put on a health alert because of their smog plus the fires
A shame it's so lovely there.
All my babble friends out west take care of yourselves and stay safe. I will send some of our rain for tonight over your way.
How odd for them to be dry like that.
thanks crossy. it was ee4 quiet last night since fireworks arent' allowed this year
best to leave the fireworks be and stay safe in dry areas.
Hi Jane
ooh found a laughing canine
it has been building up over the years Hego. The winters have been so mild that we have not been getting the snowpack we rely on to make it through the summer. Last winter was the mildest ever.
hi hego, i've been on vacation too
ty, Harpjane
got back at midnight last night
yup!
ty harp
People are good about not watering lawns and washing cars tho because we all want something to drink and to have enough for the fish to spawn in rivers in the fall.
where were you on holiday, harpjane?
Saw a great film the other night on Seaworld and the Orca's.
Blackfish?
Yes!
How is that still going on?
I find it so sad tosee them in captivity. Their dorsal fins collapse.
3 week road trip, hego. Chaco Canyon and Abluqueuque in NM, then Fayetteville and Devil's Den in Arkansas, then Devil's Tower in Wyoming. And many many places in between! Great fun!
I agree. It's awful!
They don't capture them anymore but they can't release the ones that they already have. They have lost too many survival skills.
What about you?
I had a Mediterranean cruise.
Sweet!
Now when a one gets separated from its pod (quite rare) people try to make sure that it stays safe until the pod comes back and then they try to arrange a rendezvous. It is very exciting.
Will probably do a road trip later this year.
Bugs, I'm happy to hear that.
We always think our vacations are just a teeny bit too long, no matter how long or short they are.
harpjane, I would love to have made the trip you did but not so much in summer. I wilt in the heat.
Amazing that each pod has it's own culture and language.
we have had a lot of births this past year which is very exciting.
Jane, I find as I grow older my trips get shorter.
How here has head of the loneliest whale in the world? The orca discussion brought it to mind. he is known as "52 Hertz"
Also interesting that they stay with their mother forever.
who*
where is he crossy?
http://tinyurl.com/ck9cv9p
there is some info on him
Qite sad, really:(
quite*
he will be alone forever because he cannot talk with the others:(
he calls but no one can answer:(
tragic, really.
We had trouble in the heat, of course, but as it turns out, we missed a record heat wave in our home town. It was actually 10 degrees cooler in the desert!
My brother in henderson NV was dealing with 109F the other day:(
Don't know how anyone lives there.
I do not know how he does it either.
lets see what it is there today...
Love, my wet, green New Jersey.
it is exactly 100F there atm:(
:P
108F again by Monday
I jsut read all about him crossy. Fascinating! and terribly sad that the others can't hear him if he gets close to them
Poor 52 hertz:(
I first heard of him about 5 years ago. On the plus side they say he is healthy.
I was taken with the idea that he could be deformed in some way. Whales are such social creatures it makes me sad to think that perhaps he was pushed out of his pod. More likely that he got separated and they couldn't find him. Either way, poor 52 Hertz
poor boy
roaming the endless sea--singing a song of love and loneliness to a lady who can never answer:(
Crossy, you're going to make me cry....
Would make a great song..or poem.
next tidbit will be more upbeat--promise.
there you go, crossy. how are you at poetry?
:')
I have several at poetry.com if you wish to look
I'll bet he'd be good.
dozen or so rough poems
I knew it!
They need polishing, but they are all complete
well please announce when the Ballad of 52 Hertz is up
I will

bugsaw, send me your email. i have the poem you asked for:)
wow that was fast! ok......
I spit these things out like pumpkin seeds:)
lol
you must! I used to agonize over my writing until I saw how fast some people read. They don't care nearly as much as I did over the exact choice of word to evoke image or emotion.
I always feel guilty when I skim over a page.
I think of the poor soul who struggled to get ti just right.

I do a lot of stream-of- consciousness writing. It is my stock-in-trade as it were.
Must go. So nice to chat with you folks. Bye
Tc Hego
hugs to MR Hego too
Will do. poof!
On the other side of the coin I have spent 3 weeks grinding over a 5 page essay:)
trying to wring the juice from every word
I am a firm believer in the "Iceberg theory"
me too. still waiting for the email to come. THings are slow this end
If you do not se it in a few min, let me know. I will re-send it.
here it is..... off to read and perhaps shed a tear
lovely. spending time with "Echoes reverberate over the year"
:) Like i said, it has been a year or more since my last go with it.
Sending and edited version..

ey7/36 compound word
did you get it matty?
sorry - got distracted - hang on
Yarp. It was ugly ;)
LOL@ matty... nice clue!
I bet Scrabbs is in the midst of a monster thunderstorm...it is just South of me - seems centered over the lake or beyond...
*dives in*
We are due for thunder-boomers all day tomorrow up here:)
hi crossy, kate, matty, peri, and all off screen on chog
Howdy, Featherbee:)
Hi Featherbee! Are you getting the storm?
The boomers are bubbling up all around me here...
A bubbling boomer sounds like a shooter:)
nope, sunny here
OMG!!!
it's featherbee!!!
kje!!!! hiya!!!!
welcome to babble, stranger!
:) i did part of the grid yesterday. quit with 100 left.
this one gets tricky towards the end, but not too bad
i figure i'll pick at it now, while i'm resting, and do more later
my back, neck, and hips aren't too pleased with me right now!
why is that?
my hip and shoulders have been sore lately, I think it is the mattress
back/neck from hauling crap all over the place last week and loading/unloading over the weekend, oh yeah, plus a flat hard mattress. hips from walking in deep sand and walking miles over the sand flats when the tide was out.
i'm about 90% unpacked
you sound old
i FEEL old.
i've never really felt my age physically, but today i do, and then some
ibuprofen, hot bath, and stretch for a while... in that order
did the first, and then sat for a while, rather than continue to do laundry/clean/mow
maybe i'll do the bath and stretch in a bit
i was chatting with ruru here last night. he docked me niceness points because of my history of taking your side with him, lol!
then next time... put those healthy younguns you have to work
they were off to summer rec all day...yippee!!!!! and i have been, trust me, lol
did you tell him you will remain on my side?
daniel helped a TON yesterday hauling stuff from the van upstairs.
well....i didn't say i would stop.....
he probably takes it as a given!
did we chase away the chog?
ok... just remember that I know where you live
mwahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
it's your blindingly bright blue icon
yeah, i do kind of overwhelm the chog a bit. oh well.
no one would know that IRL you're this tiny, shy, dimunitive personality
wow, you're not going with the hippie pothead angle? ;P
daniel is currently placing handcuffs on my ankles..........
well, we haven't brought up weed yet
me: "ow" him: "your ankles are thick" me: WATCH IT
whoa... that is a good way to get "accidentally"kicked ; )
lol, good idea! luckily he's gone
60 to go. Only 2 animals so far.
that may be it, harp...
hmm. i only have one swimmy animal.
oops, nope, more than 2
oooh, i don't have a swimmy one yet.
there is a laughing animal... and a tiny screechy animal
and a hairy snow-loving animal
just got the swimmy one
thanks!
and prob more since there are some words here I do not know
working on the last one
oh, and there is a large flightless New Zealand bird
(one of the ones I had no idea what it was)
now you're just messing with me
well, obviously that is something I WOULD do, weed, but I'm not in this instance
ok got the hairy one
and a beast of burden
there is a chinook salmon and more than one chinook slamon
AHA! had to google, but got it
more than one swimming thing
there are also soon to be swimming thingies
whee, got the salmon too!
(unless eaten first)
got it!
nearing halfway, wahoo!
ah, there is a scotch dairy cow
oh, and a bunny-ish animal
got the bunny
and apparently a cod is swimming with those salmon
wow. well, i'll keep the cow and cod in mind, but going through letters again in general.
oh wow, there is a long-tailed tropical wildcat (frequent babble I have never bothered to look up)
Is this a word game or a safari? Lol.. Hi all :-)
and I think that may be all the animals... but I may have missed something
hi soodle :)
I think Harp was on a safari
Lovely to see you, Feather! :-)
she plans to eat well tonight... lots of fowl, fish, and wild things
:) i'm going to try to stop by more often
and over halfway!!!
gotta go pay attention to kids before daniel handcuffs the dog
or his brother. just heard a holler. still have yet to get up though...
bye weed
sigh. bye. *poof*
funny, I didn't know the cat either....just monkey it when needed, I guess.
yes, had to look several of those up
sh9, please?
Stats for the hairy animal one please?

Hi all!
and Kate! :-D
Hi kate & TO (& everyone else).
hi car, stid, nef, kate
does everyone know you can get cheap pancakes tomorrow at IHOP in honor of their 57th anniversary?
Oh! My kingdom for a nearby IHOP!!!
57 cent short stack. I make better pancakes than that though. : D
Good to know, TO' I'll pass that on to my kids (we don't usually go there; but who knows?)
i am sure, but there is just something about out for pancakes that is fun
And free breakfast at Denny's on your birthday (All you Breaking Bad fans know this)
i had the worst breakfast last week at perkins. i do not keep bacon, so when i want it it is out for breakfast. not often, but every few months.
Nothing worse than looking forward to something and having it turn out bad
We don't usually go out for breakfast unless we're traveling - or after church. Going out for breakfast requires getting dressed, & now that we're both retired we sit around in our jammies most mornings for quite a while! ;-)
molly and crosshair can have a breakfast cook-off!
Breakfast is such an inexpensive meal to make at home and it costs about four times as much when you eat out. I like the occasional Sunday brunch at a nice place, but that is about it.
time to make dinner. chicken with shallots and white wine.
Sounds good TO, enjoy
it's the interweb. we are all gourmet cooks with model figures :D
Good one, TO! :-)
wa7, please?
wa7...what you get with a product that ensures it's performance for a time
Oh sorry, that is the 8...take off the last letter for the 7
wa7 out for your arrest
Several, in fact : D

We've been hot & humid and have had plenty of rain. I think it's odd that the rain hasn't cleared the smoke out of the air though

Hi Trader and Nef.

Food poisoning Pini? You okay now?
Shoot, harp! We're hoping to come out to Missoula in a few weeks & had planned to spend a few days in the Black hills (for the grandson)
I must go to bed soon, anyone need clues....or should I just throw some out?
Much better ... thankfully it wasn't enough to be hospitalized ... still took about 5 days to pass.
Not pleasant.
Yikes, Pini! That sounds nasty. Did you figure out what you ate?
I was more frustrated that I couldn't go riding than I was at feeling sick (until my rolling stomach reminded me otherwise).
Determined it was a bad egg.
One bad egg spoils the whole carton.... poor pini, my sympathies!
Wow. My daughter had Noro virus & managed to spread it to about 10 people before things settled down for her. (She'd eaten at a restaurant that caused it for severeal other custermores
(MN Dept. of Health tracked it down)
I seem to be stuck at 68 to go.

Bye Pini!
have fun Pini night all, \\pb is stocked for all who say sorry or okay.... see ;ya Nef, take care :)
how are you doing feather?
pretty good, distracted by tv, lol
watching so you think you can dance. i love it.
Well, enjoy it then. I've only watched it once (I think) and couldn't understand why so many people were upset by the winner that night
hmm, i don't remember people being upset over who won on it...i did miss a season or two in the very beginning, so might have been one of those
I think it was a year or 2 ago; I just didn't get into it
ahhh, gotcha
I love to watch ball room dancing; I used to like to dance; but I think it's watching some of the practices & mental stuff over the previous week that I didn't like
i love seeing all the different kinds of routines, and enjoy the vibe of the judging, it's always very dancer-supportive
Still trying to finish this, had to go to Lickety and still couldn't find the first ar5!
did you find it?
okay. Thinking back, I think the episode I watched there was some actress who seemed overly self-centered
Yes, I just did before I worte that
you're thinking of a similar show, dancing with the stars, i think
oh! That might be; I didn't know that there were 2 shows like thaton now!
they both debuted in 2005, wow! i just had to look up which came first, lol, and looks like they're the same time
dancing with the stars is a bigger franchise though
(Can you tell I don't watch the regular channels much? I watch PBS, History Channel, Science Channel, etc.)
i watch this, and the big bang theory....that's pretty much it! oh, and the tour de france right now. :)
DH & I started getting some classes we've been watching some "Great Courses" videos lately. That's been good
what are those?
It's a company where you pick & choose courses you'd like to take. We've taken courses for ancient history, Cooking, medivial history, comparing religions, etc. They're supposedly taught by college professors (but I can't see where we'd be able to get credit for them). ANd they are kind of spendy too
oh neat!

I started playing in Oct 2005 and joined it Nov 2005.
still on the list of "Village Elders" - Marigold and Periwinkle are still currently playing and from 2004
he's been doing this for 12 years - he deserves a medal
hehe, i don't think i lasted a day before i paid for membership
sprite goes back to very near the beginning i think.
i paid the day i found it too :)
sprite and ztink are there back in 2004
oh, wow was that oa fishy
not least because i had so4 already.
ha, i didn't have that so either
thanks!
I was playing a rp game that my son talked me into. it closed/ went under or ?? and a number of us found this site through another player.
:)
i was playing tangleword when that closed down, too. a few of us made it here.
i found it with the stumbleupon site, i believe
wow, stumble's been around that long
I first saw Babble on boingboing ..
I joined the first day I came here; it was a much better fit for me than role-playing games.
stumble's been around since 2002, apparently
i got told about Babble by my friend mark, whose handle on here i forget.
OMG! We're getting older and so is the internet!
LOL nef
hey all
hi stid!
I can't remember the one gals' name (she was from Winnipeg), but a young guy from the game (Pyroto) used the name of Yoink.
hey, stid, nice to 'see' you here!
Hey stid!
My Tom told me about Babble after it was reviewed in some computer magazine (or site?)...
I love Babble, but nowadays don't worry too much about the stats. I have fallen a lot in the rankings since I went back to school in 2008.
down to 20
go feather go!
yep, i do the smaller ones, bigger ones i do as much as i feel up to. too much else going on around me to be able to do it all.
i prefer under 200 grids
GO feather (I still have 40 to find; I should work on the grid PLUS chat, right?)
when i started, i tried to finish every grid. now, too busy to be so competitive with myself
i'm currently ignoring my laundry buzzer
just down to 50 (played a bit earlier)
same here. There's just too much going on these days
Feather, I ordered that book you recommended. It should arrive Wednesday...
awesome!!!! i know you'll like it!
Laundry buzzer? You do laundry in the summer? I just tell the kids to turn their clothes inside out and run through the sprinkler a few times... *wicked mama of adults grin* or they can do their own.
lol, yeah, gotta get the sand out of things. however, baths DO fall by the wayside more in the summer. i mean, come on, a dip in the pool, with chlorine, they can't get much cleaner!!!!
LOL!
:-D
it would be great if that would work, stid!
ok, 16 left...better get them before they wrinkle, because i do NOT iron.
brb
well, down to 48. Going to work on clearing off ONE table this evening (putting the must-use materials in a box by my work chair in the living room). BUGS WILL BE HERE TOMORROW! 24-hour countdown begins! :-D
She promised she was coming to see me and to not inspect for dust, so I am NOT trying to get everything cleared, just a bit MORE space so we can maybe eat at a table if we want. It is going to be SO MUCH FUN!!!!
THat sounds great, stid! I hope you have fun!
wish more babblers lived near me - you're lucky, stid
Pounce
oh - and Nef -- I wish you could see the garden. It's not perfect yet, but it is getting there. One of my new dahlias is actually starting to bloom. Unless the deer at it today... I don't see it from here. *hmph look* I think I shall investigate. Might be time for my patented deer-B-gone stinky spray. And Welki, if you are EVER near the Salish Sea, please let me know. Unless it's the middle of Spring I can probably take a personal day off from school and come see you! *extends offer to others also*
HEY! It's about time! :-D (I've been trying to get herin here instead of FB
LADY!!! Where have you BEEN? Good job on getting that "distinction" grade.
bbiaw (be back in a while) hope to see you-all when I return! *poof*
herrrrrrrrinnnnn!
What you said Stid. Studying. I have about 30 min up my sleeve before the house gets moved
^5 nef on bisquick
stuff in house I pack and sort and tidy and reorrange
house gets moved?? What do you mean?
Welki; we have 2 books on "Better than store bought" recipes.
I stuffed up my sentence. I meant I MOVE the stuff in the house
Now I understand, herin
Welki Hey. As for the Bisquick thing this is a new product in Australia. I for one am not fussed on using store bought short cuts. I just found it interesting that we are getting it.
JUst now? Bisquick has been around at least since the '60's (I used it when I was in college)
wish there were 'better than store bought' tim tams - my friend in oz used to send me care packages. they sell them here, but they're not the same
Welki - are they Peppermint Ridge ones?
i think they're the same company, arnotts
maybe they just tasted better because they were gifts
Then if they are Arnotts TIM TAM Biscuits NOT cookies they are the same
what would be the difference?
hi herin
Cookies by Peppermint Ridge are gross. Different type of chocolate or process or something
Hi Feather
interesting
pepperidge farms?
Pepperridge farm is a brand they sell them at Target
ar6 help please?
there are two - ar 6/18 - sounds like, "miss, you need to straigten out your er 6/18 ways'
that was it, thanks!
I have been searching for that word for a LONG time; thanks welki!
g'night, babblers - was a nice chat
hey, and that gave me the er6/18 as well! just caught on that i didn't have it yet
night welki!
Night Welki and you are right sometimes gifts taste better. i would send them too you if our postage didn't cost a fortune
Niters, welki! Take care!
I get to interview my Gram for a class. Super excited about that
oh cool, herin
which class?
ey7 help please?
that sounds interesting
ey7= vision organ + pain
Understanding the Modern World. Since Gram has lived through so many changes I thought I would interview her
that would be really cool! I remember thinking about my Grandma living from the horse & buggy days until the astronauts walked on the moon.
dang compound words. thanks.
great idea herin
i love randomly typing letters and having them accepted as a word i've never seen before
Gram has gone through the Depression, World War 2, Urbanisation, Changes in womens roles in society and now Globalization and facebook
what a span of history!
down to 8
not to mention moonwalks, the internet, & so many other things
GO feather!! You can do it!
:)
28 here (I chat too much; but who cares)
(maybe I shouldn't say that in chat; someone might tell me to shut up!)
nahhh, you're fine!
thanks! :-)
She wanted to be an architect as there was a lady working at her fathers office. That was a silly notion as the lady was the Secretary. She did have a hand in designing her house though
good for her!
or6 please?
The aunt who raised me raised the 4 of us girls to believee that if a man could do something, we could too. Later in her life, though, she couldn't understand why we felt that way! (I don't think she ever realized what an example she was to us)
Gram had a really silly idea of putting the washroom in the middle of the house.
or + a *** of sun (spelled wrong)
why was that silly?
1946 that was a silly idea
washroom ; is that a bathroom to us Americans?
no wash room - laundry and I think toilet
and I think bathroom
The house I grew up in had a 1/2 bath on the main floor that was in the center of the house (the full bath upstairs was on an outside wall
The washroom was where laundry was done and where the icebox use to live. They were also fancy and had gas and electric ovens in the kitchen
argh
i'm being dense
what do you need feather (I may need it too though)
the or6. nef clued it, but i'm just not seeing it.
Gram designed the layout of the house. Pop installed all the power points. Their house a stack of power points which is odd for a house of that age
lol, *you* clued it. thought i was talking to herin.
you are a bright *** of sunshine, feather. Just change the middle vowel
Gram is pretty awesome. At 92 years old they keep trying to get her in assisted living and she says no
but that's only 5 letters.......
I hope she stays healthy, herin; enjoy her as much as you can now!
2 r's ar +***
for the or6/24?
OOPS! Add another R before the end (sorry)
thank you! fireworks!

Nope more like queue up the music and re-arrange the house
Niters, feather. Sleep tight!
Have to share - http://tinyurl.com/kxcblvf

Bye for now
Hey peeps
bye herin. Good luck on studying!
Hi squrell
Trying to get used to playing on phone. Lol
back
wow! I wouldn't even want to try! My phone "corrects" my typing all of the time!
wb, stid
Well, not making progress as fast as I had hoped, but still there is progress. I am going to finish clearing off this one table (we call it the "game" table) tonight, and then spend my day tomorrow working on getting the actual dining table clear. Thing is, I am actually trying to "touch once" and put things away rather than just stuffing things into another box for a distant and poorly-defined "later." I hate going through all this stuff. But I am still missing about thirty items that if they still exist I really want. So...
Good for you, stid. I have a box sitting beside me right now that I can't figure out what to do with the contents of. So it sits . And waits. (I kind of hope that by the time I look at it again, I'll just throw it all out!)
I have all kinds of art and craft supplies that I have discovered from when my sons were younger that I can take to school. But things that I had for myself, for the most part, I am going to get rid of (not the fabrics, or vintage patterns, though!) and just buy new when I have the time to work. The papers are slowly mouldering and the paints are mostly gone anyway. Books are the hard ones to part with, but there aren't many of those left so it's not that bad.
It has really cooled down here (finally!). It's not even 70 outside now, and yesterday it was still well above 80.
Almost feels like rain, but likely a false alarm. Still, probably should close the windows on the car.
down to 40...
I have 2 left. If I would stop chatting I'd be done by now; but that's no fun
fireworks. (finally)
go nef go!
YAY NEF!!!!!!
that last 2 were H's (1 from each). Thanks, stid! :-)

Same here Sue. Sending healing thoughts & prayers to your Frank
ellie, the 6/27 is a sort of run-down hut, built in the 1930s, entire little villages of these led to the term "sh6-town" in the US.
the sh9/84 is software that's not exactly free since they ask for a voluntary donation
the SH 9 is a type of computer software that is "free" or very inexpensive, or "pay what you can"
:-) or what sue said.
hmm
I don't have a t 6/27. & I'm done???
oooh
