Does the 8 come from that? The dizzieness is back and I can't see all that well.

mwah. missing un8/55. please help...comes after un5,below. does the un8 build from that?

Congrats, Rose.
can i help you peach?
I cannot find the darned de8-45m hon.
too many words for a tired person
Will come back later today.
sorry i was AWOL peach. will check in tomorrow and see if you are here. de8. means to remove air or gas from. start with upper d tile, go up to make the de, then meander down to create the rest of the word.
sometimes you get words that are just ugly!! And that is one of them!
Does the word mean ugly or is it just an ugly word?
Rose gave me clues but I still can't find it. Darn!
after entering 205 words I finally grayed a tile! Yippee!
Yea! for you, Luv. How are you? Staying safe, I hope.
Thanks peach :-) Yes managing to stay safe but it's scary. I'm about 50 miles NW of Detroit where's its really bad. How are you doing?
Peach it's de + ae 6/7
Oh, Thank you Kateq, but I don't have the ae 6 or 7.
meaning put air into
Oh, wait, I just got the ae 6-7.
Oh thanks, Kateq and Luv.
Luv, I'm hanging on here. I don't go outside anyway but I would like to be able to. I have a friend that brings food and meds when I need them. My furbaby keeps me going.
hello, all. It has been quite a long time since I played. But it looks like I will have a lot of time in the near future. I have developed a fever. The nursing home I work in has had 2 staff members test positive. Hoping to get tested today.
Oh, golly, phandmd. I remember you from a long time ago. Do let us know how things are going. Sending good thoughts your way.
Sorry to hear that. And thanks to you, and all the health care workers who are bravely taking care of those in need.
Thank you, Molly. And all the store employees too!

hi scrabbler :D
Hi Atalante. And Loki and Sily.
Be safe, Scrabbler.
It's scary. Kids with Coronavirus can be symptom-free or have mild symptoms so I never know if a kid is infected.
:( yes, be safe x
Mask + frequent handwashing.
I have a question. I have to go out food shopping and I have to take a cab. Should I wear a mask, the virus is not as bad here as in the US right now.
Yes. Assume you are infected and that everyone else is infected.
Only a fabric mask of course
Sending armloads of positive thoughts your way, Scrabs! X0
I also need to ride in the front seat of the cab so yes, probably the best choice.
Thanks, Une. My greatest fear is getting my 88-year old mother ill.
I can imagine :-(
I would wear a mask anytime you are outside. and WAsh, Wash, WAsh And don't touch your face
I don't wear one when I hike, but at work and in stores.
Part of me wanting to wear a mask is so I don't touch my face, I have sinus congestion so my nose runs once in a while.
I have been in the house for a month, other than taking out garbage and checking mail.
Good plan.
I just realized that this grid is lacking an S.
195 left for later. Off to work. Enjoy the day.
take care, Scrabbler

We've all been waiting for this one!
Good Morning, friends.

hi, ru
Sucks you in, for sure. Morning, ru and welki.
'morning, bea
hi welki
I should probably get busy drinking my coffee
Morning, Carla.
morning y'all
hi carla
hey hokie
just checking the earthquake website. I swear I felt my house shake about 30 min ago.
Could it have been an explosion somewhere near?
tuesday, and it's already been a tough week here - the long term care facility around the corner has had 11 covid deaths, nearly half the building is infected. and we learned that a friend's wife (who had underlying issues) passed away from the virus.
Oh, welki. I'm so sorry.
wow.. the nursing homes have no chance.. that's awful
that's what I'm wondering, nothing on the earthquake map.
sorry welki
Just awful Welki, so sorry
You are right, ru. My daughter is in admin at one and they are just waiting for the first employeed to come in and infect all the residents.
no sorries for me - i'm okay. the whole mess just wraps itself around everyone. now, do i go to the grocery store that their staff may have been in? the pharmacy across the street?
my daughter is a hospital nurse (and her husband a paramedic) and, although their 'peak' hasn't happened yet, they're beginning to experience the wrath of covid
I'm such a worrier. This entire thing about has me undone.
my friend that has it is a speech pathologist and one of her patients had it
me too, bea
how can you not worry, bea? this is your kid at risk
And my mom and my husband...
good morning, welk
we're all on edge, nobody is sleeping well (nobody i know of, anyway) - guess now is the time to try to cut yourself, and everyone else, some slack
hi owl
Hokie where are you in the US?
NC
I need to go get ready for ZOOM meeting. Can't wait to see if Playtex Cindy is dressed this week.
and then, sunday, i couldn't believe my eyes - my neighbors, a "smart" and up to date older couple - their daughter and grand-daughter (teenager) pulled up in front of their house, got out with a birthday cake and went inside
there were small earthquakes in OK City and Cleveland but that's too far away and not at the right time. (if that's why you were asking)
LOL, bea. good luck with that today
heh - you should have arranged everyone to show up in their underwear this week
not such 'smart' neighbours then
keep us abreast of the situation bea :D
Just wondering - my family is in CA - the had one the other day. Have a Brother in VA and some cousins in NC
no, lyn - dumb as dirt
must've been some kind of explosion or something
gone are the days when folks had police scanners in their kitchens :)

Good morning, all. Maybe just the trash truck driving by. Sometimes ours sounds like the incredible hulk stomping around out there.
en 5/12 - an apt word for these times
yeah, but that was yesterday. I will say my husband did not feel or hear anything but that's not saying much.

inline is not a word. pshaw. inline skating was very big in the 90s before the enable list was made.
I think it used a hyphen
In-line
I've never seen it that way, plus my spell check in the chat did not underline it, which means it is accepted now.
Yeah , i keep trying it too
Giving up pulling wisteria out of the front "grass"
I had to give up pulling bermuda grass out of the front grass
I got two wheel barros full of roots.

great, now I'm singing that song "I got no roots!"
Didn't mean to shout
Oh i still have pkenty. Of nothing
on my message board that I've posted on for like 20 years, one of our biggest arguments was over wheelbarrows. this younger guy is convinced it's wheelbarrels and no one could change his mind.
now we can all sing, 'i got plenty of nothin' --- and nothin's plenty for meeee'

Ataaaaaaaaa!!! =) How are you these days?

better for seeing you! how are you????
last fall I took a guy to the ER who had separated his shoulder for the 5th time! the ER doc was giving him a lecture on getting it fixed since it just keeps sliding out but I don't think he has.

All my spring and summer art shows and events have been cancelled, which is a major bummer, but husband's job is still fine and paying the bills, and we're all healthy, so can't complain. (It's not total quarantine. We're allowed to go out for groceries and to take a walk.) How about you?
person or automobile?
Ta ta, hokie.
I only have de7/9
Boo :( but I'm the same, just about healthy, just about paying bills, have a beyond delighted dog and cat because I'm WAH :D
WAH = Working at home
Yeah, I bet the pets are thrilled to have you around all day. I've been working from home for almost 18 years, but now I have the rest of the family at home all day, too. Which is actually kind of nice in its own strange way.
Hope you can be more than "just about."
just about only because I have a headache and spend too much on dive kit and cat food :D
I shredded the tendon and waited too long to have it repaired so my clavicle (which was then trying to meet my ear) is held together with cadaver tissue. lol, a friend was a surgical tech on that procedure and she said they had to 'break out the old school tools and dust them off' to fix me.
Ata, I hope the headache fades quickly. Amelu, that sounds dreadful!
Do you have any cool art projects in progress?
abra cadaver and you're fixed i guess
I wish - I seem to have so little time recently. I made a really lovely painting based on canal barge art a few months ago, that was fun. Otherwise just doodles really
Of corpse she is, ruru.
Ah well, just doodles can be awesome too, and keep you from going all rusty.
ru, it's been 15 years and still going but I can't prop up on left arm for any length of time because it hurts/feels stressed after about 30 seconds, lol. The things we teach ourselves to avoid discomfort.
I'm hoping to draw or pa5 or something over easter. Would love a few hours of just playing with colour
That would be lovely, Ata.
Loki seems to think I exist for him to sit on though, which isn't v productive
lol. Teach him to sit on the cat instead. I'm sure that would work fine.
he does anyway :)
Good morning/afternoon.
hello ata, hello vi, hello haz
Curses, my brilliant scheme is foiled.
oh my goodness :D
Haz!!! How are you?
I noticed Atalante and Vicuna and had to say hello. And to TO as well.
I'm grand, haven't been putting the chat log up for a while so it's lucky I spotted you.
and i owe you a hello and more.
We're getting the band back together! (Raise a glass to FM.)
ah, all we need is a tenrec. or a tanrec.
I miss FM so much at the moment
Yeah, I almost never chat anymore these days, but it's lovely to see you all.
cup raised!
lovely to see yo uand be seen' :)
It's an awful thing to say but I'm glad my older generation aren't around because it would only add to the general anxiety. As it is, my younger generation is worried about us.
I'm just taking advantage of working at home so noone can see me having babble up on a monitor :)
Ah, the old stealth babbling.
and your IT can't monitor
LOL Atlante - me too!
ah, i said the same to my brother the other day
I'm worried about my parents for sure. But so far they're doing well. Heh, I've got less privacy at work than usual, now everyone else is at home, too.
hi all; does anyone know what happened to The Byzantine?
Hello Aloy, sorry can't answer that one.
how are you and Mr Haz and Canine Haz?
i'm guessing he passed away aloy.. he's been gone a long time
i stopped watching the news. it gave me major anxiety attacks.
Hello, Aloy and Dorens, too!
Mr Haz is fine, retired now, and doggy Dempsey is fine. He's about to have an amateur hair cut once the clippers arrive. It could be carnage.
welki is about to try the same on her cocker!
Yes, I limit my news watching and stopped chat log because it was making me anxious as well.
lol poor pup! welki was mulling that over just the other day
We have watched youtube videos on how to accomplish canine beauty. I think it's harder than it looks.
hi Haz (-:
Canine beauty is probably a lot harder than it looks - but on the other hand, the canine probably doesn't care too much how it turns out. (=
just back from AM walk. not feeling well and hoping it's allergies and sweeping out the shed and garage. dusty.
Hobbit was so easy to groom. Loki throws a diva-esque fit if you even wave scissors at him
I hope you're right, Vi. He's just at that shaggy stage and it's getting warmer.
Pollen is kicking my sinuses hard
Hopefully it's just the dust, TO.
owl in penn I guess they don't have the stay at home policy
Oh, I hope it's nothing serious and over soon, TO. It's a bad allergy season here, I think.
Our usual groomer says Dempsey stands well for her. We'll see what happens, he's good about getting bathed, fingers crossed he behaves himself for the crew cut.
au contraire, we were the genesis of the outbreak in the state. three miles from home.
When you finish with Dempsey you can move right on to Mr Haz.
will we see before and after photos?
as Vi said, just get as much off as quickly as possible and presume you're creating a new fashion of nouveau punk
oh my lol, vi!
of dempsey., i meant.mr. haz may be harder to get to stand
I'm scared to take any photos if it's bad, our daughter in London will have a fit. She'll see for herself when we video call.
Mr Haz has so little hair left I don't think I'd do much damage...
just found pe8
The thing about hair is that it grows back. (Except Mr Haz's, I guess.) No matter how bad it is, it won't be permanent.
welki is going to attempt mr welki's hair
:D
He's gone almost bald on top. Almost, just a few tufts clinging tenaciously on.
If Jeff (Mr mattygroves) keeps going as he is, he'll look like Forrest Gump after his run before too long
can someone clue the 10 pls?
hi matty
I'm dreading when I have to trim my fringe.
I did a tiny trim at the back of Mr Vicuna's hair. But I always do my own bangs/fringe and both my kids, so no problem with those.
Apparently the secret is to (a) cut it dry and (b) less is more.
And (c) preferably be married to a hairdresser.
I trimmed the back of my husband's hair
it10/77 - past tense of it9, which is verb form of travelling around, as of a preacher
Yes, c would be the secret for sure. But it's too late for that in our house!
a traveling preacher?
Hi Fan! It's it10, past tense - i + chemical element (three letters) plus similar to the ae7 but without the a
The back is okay. Fringe is up close and in your face.
not if you cut it short enough!
Tee Hee - cleared the H's. Less than 200 to go
i don't have the ae7
Or you could decide that now is the time to grow it all the way out.
Go, CadFan, go! =)
Think to make things, say, bubbly by injecting what we breathe into it
For the ae
or the start of Haz's best mint cheesecake
i want some cheesake!
ae7 - something you do(did) to your lawn
The peculiar thing is that my once dead straight hair has now decided to become curly. It's a source of amazement to me.
foes fringe mean bangs?
Yes, bangs = fringe.
my hairdresser keeps telling me my hair is quite curly, which is also a source of amazement to me as it looks 100% striaght
my very wavy hair seems to have gone straight. i always wanted straigh thair; now i wonder why.
lain
Jeff's is very curly, so it goes out rather than down
Damnit
i saw how to cut them. hold tiny bit with comb- at the very tips nearly- then cut up into them. vertically.
My hair is getting curlier, too. I think it's because the grey hair is curlier than the blonde.
For a man of pushing 60, he has a good head of dark hair - a thin patch on top (which weirdly looks thinner when the hair is long) and some grey at the temples and beard, but all in all, doing ok
however, my haridresser told me she will kill me if i cut them myself.before i saw this how to, i cut across.
The curl does make it easier to style, much more body than I'm used to.
My hair is baby fine and getting thinner as I get older. It makes me sad
Yes, the cutting across is dangerous, but it does seem counter intuitive to cut up.
i agree.
got it
I use pinking shears. Then I can cut across and still have a little softness. But before anyone follows my example, I should add in full disclosure that I'm not too picky!
I have this vision of hairdressers and beauticians doing sharp intakes of breath when they see us again.
Pinking shears. Not in my sewing box, alas.
i thought about touch up kit- workd well- but now i will not go out for anything.
But then, there's not much in my sewing box.
lol. I inherited my pinking shears.
I cut my husband's hair. His is still brown. Mine is mostly white. Got my hair cut in october, becase one too many people called me his mother.
Touch up kit for colour, TO?
Did that one two many person get a sharp look, mixi?
yrd. oppd, my secret is out. ;)
Before i let my sister trim it once a year, now it is short it need attention.
oopd
oops
do you still make mint aero cheesecakes?
I growlled at hubby.
It's been a while, Ata, I must admit.
outrageous :)
I do still use the basic recipe which adapts to Mint aero, or Bailey's, or lemon etc.
mmm Baileys sounds good
We are both supposed to be on a low fat diet, we're martyrs to cholesterol. I still say the test was rigged.
... I lived in an undergraduate university residence ... "pennied"is too a word! ... it is a very nasty, sneaky and inexpensive way of locking a guy into his room by jamming three or four pennies into the space between the door and the jamb so that the pressure on the knob is so great that someone inside the room can't turn the knob and open the door ... ... alright I know it's stupid and dangerous but it was a college residence ... and it was really funny when the guy came in late for dinner and had to beg for food ... ... ... my goodness but the sixties were a long time ago
did you ever come across Mimi's Bakehouse in Edinburgh? Google them and their cakes - amaznig - but they have mint aero cupcakes
baileys. mmmm
h'mm, "turion" is listed a word, but not accepted, sigh
<----- holds out empty glass....
No, Mimi's was probably after my time, Ata. We had intended to meet up with our younger daughter in Edinburgh this spring. Another plan bit the dust.
We will definitely look it up if we ever get the trip organised.
I never heard of that one, dos. Which I guess is just as well, lol. But if one can be nickel-and-dimed, why not nickel-and-pennied?
i have only a bottle of godiva liquer and a bottle of yards growler champion ale, but i will contribute
... we were thrifty in those days ... five cents for a nasty juvenile trick would have been far too much to spend
hi car
you taught me something, dos
Hello everyone ((hugs)) from 6' away
Hello, car.
Hello, car.
they have a cafe in leith and do amazing afternoon teas and before-noon teas
I was out for my walk this afternoon and saw two men shaking hands. I was startled, shows how quickly we've been conditioned.
Well, I hope they washed with soap for 20 seconds afterwards!
I will put it on our list of places to go. It's funny that Leith has become much more gentrified and yuppy.
I was just shocked, they were youngish (20s) and Eastern European, I think.
i have seen two documentaries on scotland in the last couple of days. i want to visit.
Oh dear.
Leith is just gorgeous now!
Godiva liquor and Screwball whisky as a shot tastes like a Reese's cup, lol. Takes a couple of tries to get the ratio right but it's worth it.
I know, it always used to be the place you didn't want to go. Just shows what a bit of money can do.
<----- holds out another empty glass
Car is on tasting duty.
in6,,,,clue please
its still "interesting" as soon as you walk up the water of leith, but the harbourside is gorgeous
Yes, 'interesting' is a very nice description.
nvm
um...peanut butter flavored whiskey?
in6 - diabetic med minus a letter.
yes, TO.
o.0
Um... yuck. I like peanut butter, but I don't like whiskey. Sounds like a Crossy conconction.
I must go for a while as the dog apparently needs evacuating. It's made my day to see you all, especially Haz and Vi :)
that's what I thought until I tried it. can't do straight but it makes a good shot
See you again, Ata.
ooh, i have some one drink sample bottles. including hack daniels honey. and pear vodka.
bye Ata, and bye all.. must go too. Have a good day !
bye, ata.
Bye, Aloy.
jack daniels. sheesh.
bye, aloy.
Ahh, I so want to visit Scotland. Ancestry there- Midlothian & Galashiels. One o"f my long ago Uncles was William Skirving - one of the 5 Scottish Martyrs for Liberty
It's definitely worth a visit or two.
FREEDOM!!! Oh wait, wrong Scottish William.
JD honey is good, so is Jim Beam. straight on rocks. I think my most fave of that is Wild Turkey American honey.
Now's a good time to don a kilt and stomp through the streets shouting "freedom" at the top of your lungs, Cad.
have not tried the pear vodka but sounds good. I like Deep Eddy's variations. Not so much on the cranberry or lemon (easier to mix your own and tastes better) but do like the red grapefruit and plain.
I love Grey Goose pear vodka...makes the BEST pear maritinis!
hi car
hi amel
haz are you still here?
Hi

thanks ml.. needed that , but also the 8/55
no 6- more full of good intentions
oh sorry its the only one i have but
maybe I should have said more like a knight, or earl, or duke or duchess or cout
ty
Archie Bunker's wife is in the grid
in 6 she is
thanks nan I need that one
needed
:)
did you ne 4 that one too?
lol PB for me
hope it's been sanitized
lol thought you meant the her name not the in 6 which i didn't have hank you:)
as I read someehere the other day "I've washed my hands and disinfected everything so often that now when I pee, the toilet bowl gets cleaned"
yes, I did mean her name but it's not on the list, just mentioning it was inthe grid
lol nan I saw that joke too. Have to make jokes or you'll go crazy (or crazier in my case :-) )
Don't spread it around, but I hear there is yeast and toilet paper in the PB. *Waits for the stampede
that reminds me of another joke I saw it shows a roll of duct tape on a toilet paper roll and says: Contrary to popular belief duct tape is not the solution to every problem LOL
not asking for clues but are the two ni 5 words common?
I hope everyone remembers that there is a danger in washing your hands too much.
I don't understand the yeast shortage. What is that about?
... one is
luv rotfl
more people at home baking.
I have one ML - it's not uncommon
There are areas where people can't get bread. So now they are all becoming bread bakers.
... ooops sorry ... I was looking at ni4
MLF one is common, we've had the other in the grid many times
ty both
What I want to know is why is there no rush on buying hens for all those without eggs? : D
maybe everyone though wonderbread was going to start making glue for masks :D
... ah yes ... one still certainly is
i have been wanting to learn to bake for the longest time. i know my husband wouldn't help me to try it. We recently took out the mixer from one of the kitchen cabinets. we never use it so i guess we are getting rid of it
Ah. Pffth. We live without bread.
I could live with out bread, but I'm not sure about cheese kaisers and cinnamon rolls
Apparently bread machines are hard to find as well.
i love cinnamon rolls
don't know why -- they are pretty useless
hubby found some bread yesterday and they are two we love
Bread machines? They aren't useless. I use mine all the time.
molly i was wondering about those i thought maybe the stores would be sold out of those as well?
I had one years ago -- it took longer to make one loaf of bread than it took me to make 5
I have been baking for so long I don't remember when I "learned how". I guess when I was a kid.
and it left 2 big holes in the bottom of the loaf
I kind of absorbed learning to bake from my mother and grandmothers. Lucky, I guess.
I like making bread both by hand and in the bread machine. Someone took my bread machine and I miss it.
Making bread is a long process no matter how you do it. And I don't bake in mine. I use it for kneading the dough. Then I take it out and bake it in loaf pans. Or make rolls.
me too, judi
I gave mine away
missing one 9 still -- have the it and the bl
orgami how did someone manage to take it?
hello friends
Did anyone clue the Un8/55 yet?
TRIF!
MLF!
cyber de9
un + used a hammer
NM. Just found it.
isn't that 8/50?
ty mlf - will look for it
yw cyber
There's a Un8/50 AND a UN8/55. Oh joy and happiness abounds.
clue the un you just found pls judi??
oh - yes --don't have the 8/55 either
im ready for a nap.. later all
fond the de -- silly word
and it actually is a word
but still missing a 9 -- see there are 4, not 3
I think the un 8/55 begins with not over but I haven't found it yet
Un8/55 sounds like the Un6/27 - Zombie. Singular prefix + zombie with a little latin flare in the middle.
i don't have the un 6/27
morning all, getting started on this one
morning mool!
happy tuesday ML
don't have the zombie one -- are you referring to some weird movie?
un plus not alive
un+ not alive
yeah not getting the zombie thing either
Think about what zombies are
oh -- ok - get the zombie part now
another silly word
... description of a zombie ... un6/27
Think about the TV show. The Walking ****
trying to figure out what the latin flare is
MLF - my son's friend was living with me and he took it when he moved out. I think he thought it had been his grandmother's.
un6...the zombie one...is a legitimate word that has been used since the 1800's
Oooh thanks Judi!
thought it was in use only in sci fi novels
origami ohhh
200 to go
I think normal people talk about the living not the un6
Finished the U's. * faints *
so are we adding some ending to the un6 zombie word?
only have half of them
trying to figure out the un 8/55
same here cyber
i should be outside gardening.....but oh, the joy of big grids!
We have sun today! I should get out in the garden also. I have seeds to plant.
you have seeds!? I would love some of those about now, particularly lettuce, which is GONE from all the stores
Too early to plant seeds here [other than lettuce, peas]
trif: have you ever grown lettuce? I have seeds. i want to try it in a container?
is there another clue for the un 8 besides a latin flare in the middle of expired?
Extra vowels, nan.
I had a lot of old seed packets that were partially used. I did germination tests on them last week and they are all still viable. Some were 6 years old.
un8.55 goes up not down.
it does not start with below
... I cheated ... used more words ... never seen it before ... nope to never see it again ... any clueing of it implies spelling it
un8...first three of college place...first three of not alive + two letters that past tense
Sorry, it does not go up...
What goes up must come down : D
sheez - no wonder nobody could clue it - thanks molly!
... let's see ... a prefix which implies "one" ... followed by not alive ... but in the middle of that stick in a vowel so that the ending is a past tense ... ... I hope it helps ... I take no credit for it
Tx molly!
TO, you can grow lettuce in pots.
e, a and i are the only extra vowels -- nothing working
i could if I had seeds, yup
Howzabout a clue for the Al7/36, please?
I have a brilliant (another word for thought)!! Now let's take that and un it. Now let's past tense that un word.
i swear, we are all going to get scurvy soon
It means the past tense of not having any of the four letter i word in the middle
Nan...un + light bulb moment, past tense
... better clue
al7 Boxer Muhhamad + most of below
thanks molly -- I kept trying to put the extra vowels in the middle of expired
maybe that un8/55 word means "unencumbered by the thought process"! lol!
Ty.
There is an extra vowel in the middle of expired
That is exactly what it means
Like I said, It means the past tense of not having any of the four letter i word in the middle
why does Babble do this on a weekday? So would have loved to attack this on Sunday...
know of a few people like that pastor j
whoo this is a biggie, whish i logged in this morning.
Because Babble thinks everyone that plays is retired.
clueless would be another way to put it! After looking it up, I think i love that word!
i think so molly lol
adeline should be a word -- 4 of them sing sweetly :)
Ha! Let's all have another quarantini and contemplate being further unencumbered by the thought process. Sounds like an afternoon plan to me.
So, it is okay do drinkm during quarantine before 5:00?
I hope so. I had a big glass of wine yesterday at 4 pm :D
Oh, Bea... It's always 5:00 somewhere. Have you learned nothing from Jimmy Buffet?
absolutely - alcohol is a sanitizer
... my wife's work group has a 4:00 p.m. conference call on Thursdays which involves the consumption of much too much wine
... so it musst be okay
Hmmm. Conference call. Another euphemism for happy hour. I like it.
whadja drink ori?
Okay...I'm having a glass of wine for lunch...
I would join you other than it would put me to sleep for the rest of the day
LOL! Babble is SUCH a bad influence.
Speaking of conference call, the Chief is on one and my lunch is late. Stomach is growling.
I drank the last of a bottle of TarraWarra Chardonnay that my neighbor gave me.
i had a martini. :D
tonight i'm having cigarettes and coffee from Angele
You are a smoker, ru?
Cigarettes? I thought that was my gig.
200 down - breakfast :)
no.. it's a drink
For the last week or so my father, mother & I have had a southern Comfort and lemonade (for me) coke (for them). We have decided it is going to keep the corona virus away lol
bourbon, amaro, tobacco tincture and shaved espresso bean on top
zoom, i thinks its been proven now :)
it is awesome and to die for
That sounds interesting
I gave up tobacco...not the best time to do it...
I think Zooz is Janis Joplin reborn :D
ori's giving up tobacco too... i'm her official nag
have never developed a taste for bourbon -- always tastes really raw to me -- maybe there is a better quality bourbon, just like there are better rums and scotch?
And, boy, can he nag
oh absolutely nan.. there are some great ones..but likely you wouldn't be able to find them in BC
It is at least something for us to look forward to. And may I say cloudy lemonade with southern Comfort is so much better flavour than regular lemonade. I was amazed at the difference. So yummy.
<--nag expert
have only had jack daniel - didn't like it
jack daniels is horse piss
agreed
🤣🤣
I'm gagging already
I like Bailys emmmmm
I don't think it is actually a bourbon.
Bailys chocolate liqours are nice too!
they do have a lot of horses around the distillery ori.. that's our first clue
I like Baileys also.
FATTENING
A bit o' Baileys never hurts. Grownup milkshake
Ha! I agree. It's disgusting.
Baileys is fattening. I consider it a desert.
its actually a sourmash. Like bourbon but not pure bourbon
Not much of a tippler... my late ex used to say, "A sniff of the cork and she's under the table"
And all I have here is a cup of tea and a mars bars :-(
it is!!! oh well. im not goint out any time soo, hopfully everyone will have put a stome on lol
Haha! Must confess, Natasha I too am a bit like that!
<---- pondering what putting a stome on is :D
Runs in my family. No hollow legs.
Stone, sorry, measure of weight
Ah ... :D
how much IS a stone, actually? More than a kilo?
1 stone = 6.35029
Have I ever told you all I do not put weight on no matter what I eat or drink? : D
You can leave now zooz
6.35029 kilo? lb? oz? gm?
if it's kilo, that's one heckuva stone
🤣🤣😜
wow.. what's your secret zooz.. i'm trying to drop my shelter weight right now.. ugh
It's about 15 lb Natasha
yikes! I've gained 3 so far but am trying to hold it there
Shelter weight, thats a thing now, i like it lol
I have been 9 stones since I was around 14 years old and it has not changed. I am like a ruddy stick insect.
what's 9 stones in a real world?
zooz you sound like my son. 6'2" and 135 lb on a good day with the wind behind him. Cannot find a pair of pants to stay up on his bod.
my right thigh weighs 135 pounds
9 stone is kg 57.1526
Very skinny, Ruru
i'd love to be skinnier
But it involves self denial ru.
i could use some denial :D
My son is genuinely uninterested in food. Eating is a chore and a bore. Lucky he.
i'm kind of built like a football player zooz. i weigh 240 pounds twice what you do
We think you are great no matter what size you are, Ruru :-)
Unless, of course, we go to a really good Mexican restaurant... then he dives in and doesn't come up for air.
Half of that must be your brains, ruru
I have football player legs.. I think they weigh 135 pounds
My sisters childrens legs are bigger than mine haha!
urinal
wow.. that's amazing zooz
sorry
Not a word anyway phew.
thought you'd be bideting your time zooz
😂
only a wee joke ru

Take care, Ruru! Nice to see you!
used to be married to a Yorkshireman so I know what pants signifies :-0
Ah that was just incase :-)
He showed up to my vocal ensemble rehearsal and asked brightly, "Anybody got a rubber?" We all collapsed.
good grief -- voting in Wisconsin? are they nuts? they've had 6 weeks to organize a mail-in vote!
Oh! Haha!
See ya' Ru.
Maybe there is no lockdown there?
they say we speak the same language but do we??!!
It just reinforces for me the astonishment of our returning snowbirds -- they had no idea of how serious this situation is -- they just weren't getting the info in the states.
Boris was tested Prince Charles was tested but so far most of the frontline health workers havent been tested. Priorities??
Exactly!
I heard he is in intensive care now.
they are coming home and being told at the border thay can't make any stops -- go straight home and stay there, no further than their backyard - no stops at a grocery store - find a family member or an agency to do your grocery shopping for you -- 2 week mandatory isolation. Most of them don't pay any attention until they start getting dirty looks from their neighbours.
Think its just non-news to make us forget Brexit!!
I have friend from Nova Scotia who spend time in Florida. I know at least 2 weeks ago they decided to forgo flight and rented a car and drove home. Guess they found a news channel that was not faux.
it's not that they don't know about the pandemic it's that they don't understand the importance of distancing and isolating - especially when you've been living somewhere where there have been no lock downs and partying as usual.
I have found good information on the news channels - not listening to the fool on the hill.
it's an I'm not sick - I don't have to comply mentality
yes - but you are looking for it, ori
True.
we organize a group of volunteers to run errands for returning snowbirds in our gated community. Not one person has taken adntage - some have family that do their errands for them, but we see a lot of them going out in their cars or walking around the neighbourhood.
De9/72?
*please excuse the typos - fingers not working this am
de + finished applying oils to canvas....
I don't see how people were not getting information on the pandemic in the States. It has been all over the news for a month.
it's almost hard not to hear the news ....
i think people (and at least one governor) thinks that if you are not symptomatic, you can't spread the virus....
And Florida and Arizona, the two big states for elders to visit in winter are both in a state of emergency.
as I said molly - they heard about it in the states, but not about the importance of self-distancing and self-isolation even when you are asymptomatic
and everyone knows that golf is an essential activity, right?....
When the President can stand up on the podium and speak every day - and NOT social distance from everyone up there with him... hard to get some people to feel it's essential.
our home are in isolation here - nobody but residents inside - not even kids, siblings or grandkids, or conversely, grandparents.
I live in the first state to find covid19. When doctors were trying to figure out what was causing the illness they were told not to look. My state had to develop its own test against orders from the top. Our governor closed schools and many other businesses. We are in our 2nd month of distancing and in isolation.
The first we heard of it being on this continent was the nursing home in Seattle and shortly thereafter a person newly returned from China in BC
all the snowbirds i know where acutely, and some painfully, aware of the necessity of self-isolating on the way home and when they got home.
en 7/36 ?? going bonkers here.....
where=were
same here,,,we have been in our home for 3 weeks,,, only out to get food and medicine once. But we are pretty rural,,, although there are cases in the counties around us
to make someone something like an earl or duke, sammy
yes, - they were given the same instructions at our border crossings - they just didn't seem to think they had to pay attention because they didn't feel sick.
thank you ewlki
welki
Vancouver has hefty fines now and a snitch line.
it's strange, then, that bc has flattened its curve so substantially, compared to other provinces
Speaking as an American who visited Canada the first week in March, (passing through Seattle) I'd say that there has been a gradually increasing awareness, almost like shock or grief, that has come through the entire continent. While we were at Whistler, the staff were doing things that would have been unthinkable in Seattle. When we drove home, we noticed Central Washington towns under lockdown. They had been open a week before. Two days after we left Whistler the ski area switched to take-out only, and related groups on gondolas. Two days later Whistler closed completely and we found out that we shared a dining room--twice--with some women from Hong Kong who tested positive when they got home.
Our health minister, Dr. Bonnie Henry, jumped on this right away -- demanded controls be put in place, has done everything in her power to find equipment to increase testing and is on TV every single day giving us the numbers, new restrictions and telling us the only way this will be beaten is if all non-essential workers stay home and do their part.
Dr. Henry is a superstar - has lots of experience with SARS adn H1N1
* meant to say minister and Dr. Henry (who is leading the fight for the ministry of health)
I was in Wuhan till the first week in November, just before all this hit there. But I was in contact with my friends and colleagues, and recognized that in the modern world, it probably couldn't be contained. SInce my husband is immunocompromised, we began a shelter in place as soon as the first case was seen here in the metro Seattle area. So we have been at home since late February. It is getting hard, though; the veggies from last year from the freezer will be gone soon, and we'll have to do some ordering online for groceries and medicine.
Is that the BD Health minister or Canada?
wow, Jan. blessings
order well ahead jan - if seattle is like here there will be a 10 day delay before you can get a pick-up date for your online order
Dr. Hadju is the Minister of Health for Canada
Yes definitely order ahead. Online orders are running a week to two weeks behind. What you used to be able to get in 5 hours is no more. And that applies to Amazon too. The days of two day delivery are over.
Yes, we are ordering meds this week, though we won't be out for another month, and groceries soon, too. I did a test order (didn't go through with it) a few days ago, and lots of things were still out of stock like rice, dreid beans, etc. Oh, and toilet paper, of course!
i heard someone on the radio this morning who said, "We need a leader who's all in, with no spin." Thought that might be the best quote i've heard in some time - credited to Daniel Tisch
oh that's right.
Adrian Dix is the healt minister for BC -- Dr. Henry is the provincial health officer.
I was in Australia & New Zealand until the first week of January. Came home an picked up a friend at the hospital that was having kidney failure. She is having successful home delivery with Whole Foods (amazon), and I have order coffee and other items through Costco. Just don't wait until last minute.
Seriously? A snitch line?
yes --- I think there is one in Ontario as well
Jan, Instacart here is now delivery only but our experience with them has been good.
I hadn't been Babbling for a couple of years, but this enforced isolation makes Babble a real lifeline. After all, it's supposed to be physical distancing, not social distancing.
How are the snitch stories enforced?
We need a snitch line in Montana.
what are the stats for the lone E and the lone i please?
Molly -- this is potentially deadly for all of us - I would certainly call a snitch line if I knew someone was blatantly disregarding shelter in place laws.
No, I mean what do they do about the snitch stories that are reported?
.... in4/4
My daughter picked up the last bag of dried beans and an online heirloom bean outlet in California has sold out. My grandson lives in Texas and just got married, they ran out of tp. My daughter and I mailed them some - I told my husband that was a cr**y wedding gift.
tabby hubby an I have gotten things from using that as has my mother
We have ordered non perishable through Amazon and the wait was longer than usual.
in Maine you can be fined $1000 and/or jailed for up to 6 mos. for violating the stay-at-home order....
ed 4/5
instacart
Yes the wait is longer. Dry items I ordered that usually take 2 days were delivered 10 days later - but we have coffee! Morning coffee with Babble!
te8 please
I saw an item in the New York Times that seed companies are running out of seeds due to increased orders. I'm glad we ordered our seeds early! Though all we have been able to plant are radishes, peas, and lettuce. Too cold and damp...
i don't have it sorry peri
ok
i found a te 7 just now
that's my missing 9 !
... I don't think that there is a te8 .... there are two tu8
Seeds and live chicks. There are shortages in Montana. I fear for the chicks. They will go to people who don't know how to raise them.
stats for the 10 please?
Anxiety through the roof. Just got notified - my husband's work is instituting a 20% pay cut ...
wow Cad. What sort of work does he do?
it10/77 related to it9
oh - thought you said te 9
Sorry Cad, but it doesn't surprise me. Thousands of people are being laid off.
I have tu8x2
so do i peri
Sorry, that was wrong. Millions have been laid off.
Yup, my daughter and son-in-law are laid off. Husband is retired and I am on half pay. But we're lucky to have my income plus social security coming in.
... lost my paycheque a month ago .... wife and daughters all anticipate loosing their's next week
jan who is that in your photo?
I'm sorry Dose. That is a very difficult situation to be in.
Thank goodness we are retired. Half the people I used to work with are furloughed and the remainder are being transitioned to working from home. Our son has been laid off but is OK for now. Our daughter is between jobs and our son in law is working from home.
Dave Neihaus, who was the voice of the Seattle Mariners till his death a few years ago. He was a prince among men; when my daughter attempted suicide quite a few years back, I wrote him a letter about how his comforting voice was helpful in her recovery. He took the time to write her a personal letter every few days for weeks after that. Such a fine man, sorely missed.
grateful for my husband who has done a stellar job of managing our portfolios for 57 years :)
jan that is so wonderful! he was very handsome too. Happy for your daughter too:)
... oh my wife and I are fine ... but the kids are scared and so we're scared for them
dose who old are they?
I never chat but lurk a lot. This today is such an interesting microcosm of what is going on in the world.
... 32 is a senior manager in waste management and planning for the city of Toronto ... 27 year old is a project manager for a Financial company
welcome to the chat reg
wonderful dose:)
Thanks. My tip for getting an grocery delivery date from Whole Foods or Amazon Fresh is to check just after midnight -- at least here. They seem to open up new slots then. It's still a couple days out but at least there are some.
... yeah ... but they're both big time Type A personalities who got where they are by worrying about everything and being able to deal ... but they've lost control here (as everyone else has) and they're not coping well with that
Oh, these are not good times for control freaks.
uggh that is not good dose.. Isnt much anyone can do
... too true to both comments
al 7/36 please?
As is the case with most things, the wealthy will remain buffeted and the middle and lower classes will take the brunt of all this.
So true MollyL
no idea nan, but it helped me find an al6
al7 Boxer Muhhamad + most of below
Sigh ... just got off the phone with my best friend who lives about 40 miles away. She was going to let her cousin and her boyfriend stay the night on their annual migration from Arizona to Washington. I talked her out of it.
ty Bea new word for me
thx bea, did you already know that a?
good idea ori
Yes, I knew it. =)
Yes, ori, good idea.
I think that those of us who can should at least triple their donations to the local food banks -- buying more of those $2 donation coupons at the check out now.
I also didn't have the word for below
a friend who is flying home from Arizona on Thursday wanted me to pick her up at the airport, I said no
it was a twofer
actually it is she and her husband flying home
Not everybody is understanding the severity of the situation.
My mom's sister and bil were going to stop by on their way from FL and I said, uh no!
where are they coming home from?
Arizona
unbelievable ori..
How many masks do you have done, Carla?
I guess I mean, what were they doing not at home already
ty for the al 7 bea
bea I still need 7 + 1 a's
yw, nan.
She is 75, her daughter who lives with her is in her 50's and has diabetes and a host of medical problems. She seems to have a very cavalier attitude towards this pandemic.
just put 23 in the washer. made 8 last week.
Do you have three ae's?
In my area, which has a lot of immigrant families alongside middle-class folks, a neighbor started a great initiative whereby about 10 local restaurants (NOT chains) are prepping food (thereby keeping folks employed) which is then donated to families in need. We've raised over $58K in a few days.
I have ae6/7
that is awesome natasha
That is wonerful, Natasha.
That's wonderful, Natasha. Things like this give me hope for the future of our country.
I wish I could find the foot pedal for my sewing machine.
I thought it was wonderful, helping both resto employees and our poorest neighbors
there is another ae6.21
maybe it's in the PB ori :D
what kind of machine do you have, ori?
lol ru
LOL!
LOL Origami. All my friends are digging out their old sewing machines and rifling through boxes looking for fabric.
with this grid, almost any word you use will probably land you in the PB
That's great, Natasha. People around here are sharing food, materials for making masks, yeast, etc.
My mom and I are tag teaming on making them.
my youngest has been helping me. I told him he could put it on his college resume.
It's a Kenmore hokie. I suppose I could manually turn the wheel.
I'm hopeful wearing a mask in public will become normalized like it is in Asia. It could really help us keep the numbers down going forward.
So I bless all of you who know how to do this (make masks).
There is no sharing going on around here as all my neighbors are out running around in the streets.
We left a plastic tub of sourdough starter in our neighbor's open mailbox. Did you know it's against the law to put anything in a mailbox without a stamp? I'm gonna take my chances with a jury on this one.
oh lord, that would take a long time! I wonder if you can order a replacement.
I don't have anything good to use for ties. Had plenty of fabric. Going to to a curbside pickup at Michael's later for some cord.
... just say that it was sent postage due
lune
Around here we have these little library boxes on columns. People are putting yeast, sourdough, etc. in the boxes. Avoids the USPS getting upset
as long as people don't get the idea that they don't have to social distance if they wear a mask -- the masks only prevent you from spreading your germs.
I did know that jan. also illegal when people tape stuff to the outside. I always want to turn those people in.
I'll check it out hokie.
OK off the the PB, and no yeast there...
I'm making my my own binding for the ties instead of using elastic.
Bzzn what is is your method for the ties?
Good thing there's no snitch line for mailbox violations in my neighborhood!
I'm a terrible seamstress.
True Nan, but at some point, we are going to have to come out of our mole holes... wearing masks will help lower transmission rates particularly for the asymptomatic positives, till the far-off day when testing is universal and instant
I can't sew a straight line for the life of me. I have always wanted to quilt, but ...
I just hate the advertisers that put stuff on it and also stuff in the paperbox. I don't mind if friends put stuff in.
One of my neighbors made a Costco run and divided up flour between a few families.
i wonder if the material from men's ties would make decent masks
Can't sew either. Runs in my family. 3 generations of women who barely sew buttons on.
I'm using 1/4 " elastic
I have a Costco order coming tomorrow. I hope it has the flour I ordered.
I cut fabric 1.5"x40", run through the binding tool and then attach.
A lot of my Jewish friends are using yarmulkes (kippot) to make masks
why knot welki?
you just need to see if you can breathe easily through it, welki
^5 reg! i can't sew worth a lick - tried to make my oldest a doll almost 40 years ago, came out looking like Mr. Bill
LOL welki
ooooooooooooh noooooooooooooooo
I actually FLUNKED home ec in 8th grade because my dress came out all wrong
Ooooooh noooooo Welki
Great idea Natasha, I never thougt of that!
Everything I've heard (Dr. Tam) or read, cotton is the best fabric to use - preferably a high thread count and as many layers as possible.
CDC website has 2 no-sew versions. one is cutting out an old t-shirt, and they show you how to do it. the other is using a bandanna with hair ties
My sewing machine was mainly used for making Halloween costumes for my kids who are now 30ish.
Glad to pass it on!
My mom said she saw where they are making masks out of socks...
pedal
sorry!
The sock ones would need a liner since they're so porous.
yeah, tried that, too - with safety pins and staples after the fact, they came out pretty decent :)
Cotton is good, but knit is not. Too many holes. Knit t-shirt not as good as more tightly woven fabrics.
I saw a pic of a kid in Asia with half of an orange over his mouth and nose
that's because he had a zest for life hokie
I saw someone online asking if cheesecloth would be good! Uh, no.
orange ya glad it wasn't an avocado?
most older t-shirts are cotton or a cotton/poly mix. if that's what you have, just do like 3 layers.
I've made the mask with bandanas and hair ties. But I had to get the big, thick hair ties to get them to stay around my ears.
or look in your closet for 100% cotton t's
Can you breathe through 3 layers carla?
I'm making 4 layer masks old t-shirts cut up for the layer next to the face, flannelette (old pjs cut up) in the middle and a double layer of high thread count cotton sheet for the outer layer.
hold whatever you have up to light and see how much gets through
*sings, that's how the light gets in"
I'm finding the bandana ones hard to breath through
the first batch I made were 3 layers, latest batch is just 2. mine is 3. I can breathe through it but it's hot. part against my face is flannel.
Love that song, welki
*running out of the flannelette and plan to use old tea towels instead -- I think it is a good idea to have something absorbent in the middle
my biggest problem with multiple layers is sewing through the pleats. I tried 4 layers at first and broke needles on 2 different machines, one of which is industrial.
I did cotton on both sides, Carla and it is still hot.
tea towels are actually the best at home fabric from the studies I've read
I do have some old ones I was going to use the next time I cut out fabric
just using single knit t-shirts, carla - think I would have the same problem with double knit. I'm also using a #16 needle (meant for denim)
arene
you sure are creative reg :D
Sorry.
It didn't work!
all this talk of sewing made me see treadle in the grid, and it's not
Carla. are you using a denim needle?
I learned to sew on a treadle.
nope, just universal. don't rem. what size. I think I have one or two denim needles
my grandmother had a treadle
Try using a denim needle to get through those layers.
Right tools for the right job...
thought I said that :)
The treadle I learned on is in Mom's bedroom. =)
I switched to one layer quilting cotton and one layer of flannel and haven't had an issue. also was fine with 3 layers, just4 was too much, because with the pleats it's like you're sewing through 8 (or something)

I'm heading back up to spend more time with Janie Janome. Probably not going to finish today...

One of my neighbors is making masks with a pocket to insert a coffee filter or one of the other types of fabric that will make it better

Sorry - usually just a lurker . . . should I repost, MollyL?
Also, I don't think links to Facebook work for people who don't belong to Facebook.
won't really help to repost, it just expands the box and people have to scroll to read everything.

Yeah - I couldn't find the same easy video on any regular site

As is the case with a certain percentage of humanity, people are already finding ways to make a profit from these circumstances. Sad but true.
However, price gouging is illegal.
... is it? ... immoral certainly ... and there was talk ... but has anyting been enacted?
It's disgusting. I don't know how they live with themselves.
well, our friend wanted to hire me to make some for his restaurant employees and then everyone started asking me for them. My husband wanted me to charge $20, and I said they were $9-13 on etsy. My BFF said she'd give me $25 per without me even asking. My husband said today he thinks maybe $10 is more reasonable.
But he was literally freaking out about us not having any $$ and looked at this as a form of income, which is what my BFF said.
I know that price gouging is illegal during a disaster such as a hurricane. The law probably does not specify "pandemic."
apparently there will be fines and confiscations in Canada for anyone selling things a t 5x their normal value in Canada -- there was a guy fined in Vancouver last week for selling N95 masks out of is trunk. I don't think it was what whe was charging as much as what he had hoarded and was selling -- the masks were confiscating and the charge was operating a business without a license.
and FTR, I had a friend who works at the hospital reach out to the lady in charge of donations of homemade masks and she never got back to me
... yeah but ... the more you charge the higher the quality people expect and what does your liability insurance say about what they cover when someone with one of your masks gets the disease anyways and they sue ...
when I looked at etsy the other day (which I wouldn't be selling on BTW), they had a statement saying the makers offered no guarantees on remaining virus free from wearing them. I mean, no one can guarantee that.
my plan is to give them to friends and family that have requested them and if they want to pay for my time, then that's up to them.
there is a de 7-8-9 following more expired -- any clues please?

Just to put things in perspective, eBay who is now not accepting listings for masks, sanitizer or disinfecting wipes has taken down 5 million listings. And is still taking them down as they are reported.

the rest of the commonwealth adhered to more traditional spellings

maybe, but if you want the short vowel pronunciation in cases like this, you need to double the consonant before adding the suffix

before you all get impressed I'm pretty sure there's no way I'll finish this.
It's impressive you will even attempt it.

... ah well ... dinner will not get cooked if I keep doing this ... must be off ... luck to all who continue the struggle
bye Dos
Good evening to you and yours Dose!
at 184 left, i'll be back later on. good luck everyone!
My traditional goal is to get 80 percent of the grid before turning to Lickety. Today I amended that to 75 percent, and now to 50 percent. Good thing I have some time on my hands...though I have a feeling this grid isn't going to get even close to done!
Everyone has their own way of playing. I amended mine to fit the suggestion in the HELP section. Find as many words as YOU can. Not from clues, not from the list, but just what I can find. I don't often finish, but it reminds me that I found what I found on my own.
.... then there are those of us who are completely ocd about finishing ....
Actually, my way of playing really depends on the day and what else i have to do. Sometimes I would play what I will now call Molly-style, sometimes I would play to try to get NBS NBTs, sometimes I would try to finish the grid, and sometimes I wouldn't play at all...
OCD about finishing is why there are rankings. : D
the nice thing is that this is the only thing in my life i'm Ocd about....
What is great about Babble is that there isn't one way to play, but lots of ways to play in a way that is satisfying.
Not about puns, ruru?
no... that's just a pun tourettes syndome :D
believe me I spare you guys from hundreds of bad jokes monthly
an old roman soldier? denturion
Darn, I have been picturing Ru as OCD Jack Nicholson in "As Good As It Gets" : D
2Bit, what is the significance of your profile picture?
miss2bit wrote "Thank you delivery people" on our front steps
a reminder to me about gratitude
we have a lot of chalk sidewalk notes in my 'hood
we did, but a storm rolled through about 3pm
also very big is chalk stained glass windows
Very nice 2Bit, gratitude is important.
I have been humbled and impressed about how my little extrovert is coping with being stuck with just her lame introvert parents
I have been tipping as high as I can to my delivery folks and writing good reviews for them.
I'm thinking of trying Uber Eats, anyone have experience with them?
Kids will do that to you...remind you of how to be a better person.
Sukee, I just use the straight delivery food places like Grub Hub.
It's just I don't have a credit card and Uber Eats takes Paypal
Due to all this I have had to apply for a credit card but haven't heard anything yet.
I am craving some fast food and I don't drive :(
Well, Uber Eats does the same thing. Just drives to your destination and gets and deliver your food. Go for it.
What are you craving?
A & W. I also crave McDonalds but I know I always feel lousy after I eat their food. A & W is better.
So, burgers, fries, onion rings...
al7/36 pls?
nm
I would rather make a hamburger at home
I am pulling out some of my old, trusted cookbooks from our younger days and making comfort food. Sometimes a cup of tea is just the thing.
Thinking about making cheesy asparagus soup (speaking of comfort foods, lol) w/bacon. Or a brussel sprout alfredo casserole... *ponders*
Either one would be super. One today, one tomorrow. I am making a sweet potato baked dish with lemon slices on top. Brown rice is cooking. Ground meat is going to be quickly sautéed.
both are better the next day after they've had time to 'get happy' as my hubs claims, lol.
Yes, soup is better the next day. I need to move ahead with dinner, so will say good bye until tomorrow.
enjoy!
Anyone know why this dumb game will not accept the word REINDEER, which begins with the R at lower right in the fourth row? That is stupid.

it's not an airport - you don't need to announce your departure
wait until he finds out that certain common words aren't accepted because they are not part of the ENABLE dictionary..... ;)
good morning/afternoon/evening fellow babblers. i hope you all are well.
i am tipping we are going to have a huge influx of trolls soon if not already. if that happens i will be turning chat off.
rose! I trust you are safe and well?
i am for the time being, thanx Dan. arrived home last Monday evening. exhausting trip home with a three hour stopover in Sydney airport. just last vestiges of nausea to deal with. no CV symptoms. and you and yours?
loved little miss's drawings on the driveway. very creative. and the stairs of gratitude too.
hi, folks. I'm one of the "Lurkers" I guess. Just wanted to say how much I enjoy reading the chat, and that I appreciate all the clues that are given. Thanks!
you are most welcome Mrs T. nice to "see" you. xox
we are well, if bored. returned from trip of a lifetime to Ethiopia and Egypt juuuuuust before it got so hard to cross borders, and have been holed up since. blessed that we can both work
hiya Mrs. T!
Hello, Dan and Rose!
yeah i saw you just made it home.
I'm a lurker too. Have been for 12 years. Sometimes I chat but usually just play.
one of our favourite lurkers too, toadandtoadette
yeah me too sorry I tend to lurk
no symptoms here, but have missed 2 niece and 2 nephew birthdays. facetime is just not the same
:) Yep, I started playing when I was pregnant with my oldest. I actually talked a lot back then and was in labor while playing this game. Its fun to go back and look at that chat sometimes. He's 12 and a 6th grader now.
hi ya cheryl. you okay honey? all well with you and yours?
wow t'n't...that's gonna be you new moniker...TNT or dynamite...loll
lol
It's not a bad thing to be a lurker in Babble. If everyone chatted all the time, it could be very confusing.
I am waiting for a test result I have the cough hope its just a cold though
are you doing better then Rose?
nothing wrong with a 30 way conversation. could be amusing... but as you say, also confusing...loll
yes i am thanx cheryl. still worried for sprite. she has had CV and now has the pneumonia.
oh no, tell I am praying for her
prayers for you cheryl. holding onto you tightly, with love
i will pass on your message cheryl
thanks I appreciate that
I mostly lurk, too, and echo Mrs. T. I enjoy reading the conversations, appreciate the tips and clues, and pray for those who need it here. Even though I don't participate much, I've come to enjoy your company. (prayers for Cherlyq and Sprite right now)
thanks all
Absolutely praying for all our wonderful fellow Babblers! Praying for safety and health and peace of mind.
thanx java, on behalf of sprite. i know she appreciates your prayers.
and thanx Mrs T. gillie, not ignoring you...hugs and keep safe.
good riddance R's
yay dan!!
anyone have a clue for the 10 letter word?
de + finished putting oil on canvas....
thank you. I will work on that for a while.
it10/77. past tense of it9/54. i + fork prong + past tense of to eat
it's a dumb word....
sorry....i clued the de 9....
pen, dear, that is de9
lol... snap pen
yes...
I'm not getting the codes here; please interpret slang
and my clue doesn't add up either. i + fork prong + speed is it9. past tense for it10
first three letters. anyone?
stella, i'm not using slang.
I think it means plan a trip if that helps
I found ITINERATE, so it must be there somewhere
well done stella. that is it9. now make it past tense by adding a consonant
dumb word, very arcane
welcome to babble... ;o)
well it isn't in common use that's for sure. well done you for finding it.
123 words in just over an hour...
mostly four letters
Just read the chat log ... have to admit I am a closet lurker too and enjoy your conversations and help with clues. Hope everyone musters thru this crazy time.
stella, it was like this for all of us when we first started. i was the absolute worst newbie ever to join. everyone who were regulars were very tolerant and helped me. as we will quite happily do for you too.
thanks, maggie....nice to see you....hang in there....
Thank you for the clue. I had the nine letter word but it never occurred to me that ITINERATED was even a word until I looked it up.
um....stellar, it's best not to put grid words in the chat... ;o)
I'll give myself 50 lashes with a wet noodle.
you can just go to the PB....penalty box....there are snacks and drinks there...
stella, there are some of the babble community who are intolerant and straight up nasty. please ignore them and do not rise to their baits. pen is not one of them btw.
ty, rose...was worried there for a moment... ;o)
I don't care how nasty they get, frankly. I ignore it.
Pen gets nasty??? What???
I think we have all done it at one time or another mostly by accident
Some of us don't take this stuff seriously. We old fogies know what a sense of humor is.
we try to not post words in the chat. but accidents happen, and we are very forgiving. besides the penalty box is always packed with your favourite snacks and drinks. just let us know your preferred tipple.
Duly noted.
*waving to ru*...
down ruru....back to your bone....loll
Grrrrr
I am not particularly enjoying this grid....at least the last 70 words or so....
lolll....*pats ruru's hackles* at least i think they're hackles....rur ? did you roll over when i wasn't looking?
pen, my last word was un8. now that's a very silly word.
yes, a very dumb word....
bbs. nausea settled so time for a shower methinks. don't worry everyone. it's nothing serious. the nausea i mean. just my body's response to hurtling through the air at excessive speeds. (flew on two planes last Monday in order to come home)
glad you are feeling a bit better, rose...
hi all. arriving late.
any clues for the 10, 9s, 8s or 7s? wow.
great grid.......where was this grid sunday when i had time?
mkg,clue 8:59 for it9
bl7 becomes bl9. bl + below is bl7. past tense bl9
got a 9 and the 10. ty.
looking for bl 7 and 9 but not seeing it. hmmm
blunt
oops sorry
got bl. ty
got the 7 and 9 bl. ty. missing 8s still ty
de8 becomes de9. de + 2 vowels + speed. past tense for de9
hello 229 to go
start with upper d tile and go up for the de start, then meander down
ae 6/21?
speed? not getting it.
de8. de*, where the lion is + floor covering + consonant
I posted a question today in my NextDoor app asking where one of those little curbside lending libraries was located here and somebody dropped off 6 books on my doorstep. :D
okay. de + 2 vowels + rodent + top newspaper worker(abbreviated)
cool...
sweet, origami
got de. ty
my neighbor left a jigsaw puzzle by my door...
ae 6/21 anyone?
I wish someone would drop some yeast at my door!
de7 becomes de 9. de + apply oil or water colour to canvas. then past tense for de9
I would trade toilet paper for a jigsaw puzzle right now. Tried to buy one online and they are all sold out!
not getting that de........granny, de and then two vowels. the vowels are many choices.
ae and di4
wow....bummer....
sorry pen, add gas or air to fluid.
ty, cherlyq....
I did trade (on the same app) some kumquats for some yeast yesterday. Socially distant trading, of course.
got a de 8. ty
but not the 7 or 9. sorry
mkg, if you go up to form the de, not too many options for the two vowels
ie, ea, ae, ai, etc.
none of them work.
ends in the large rodent right?
mkg, GO UPWARDS to form the DE, then come down
from the top d tile
deearat not in dict.
deierat not a word either
ends in rodent?
mkg, let's start again. from the UPPER d tile go up to form the de start. then move downwards
the de 8/9 means to take the air out of something....
Nice clue, pen
so it doesnt end in rodent? wow. so confused. what is ending?
so you have d + three vowels starting with e * * then add the rodent then another vowel
It does NOT end in a rodent. At least the one I have doesn't.
i guess i dont know the rodent. i assumed large mouse.
yes large mouse + vowel
my de+ two vowels ends on top ro. how do you get from there to an R?????
last te 6/21?...it's the last TE word....
go down not up
