No Mayne.......sorry!

hia ch and leslie
yo debb, i see the mets icon is back
LeslieAnn, you're a mindreader -- I was just reading your profile because I admired your icon so much! Hi debbinla!
I heart lickety
yes - i think i brought them some bad luck !
morning all
hi jen!
hi jen34
i'm not sure where it came from ch - googled "psychedelic" and it popped up
Looks like it's a little tricky! Wish I had na5,14 for lunch
how's life, deb?
cute, lickety -- and that would of course be with cheese, jalapenos and taco meat?
phantom word: peach
good jen - was finally under 100 degrees today - how about you?
Ch - yeah ;-) Jen - I haven't heard that term before - heart someone
The bottom of your face is the ___
i blame i heart huckabees
I'm visiting my sister in Baltimore, and it's considerably cooler than Nashville right now!
Especially fitting for your icon, lickety
ooh, i bet! must be nice jen
hope it stays cooler for you, too, deb :)
every time there's a bunch of e's i type in eerie and get mad when it's not there
lol, i do the same thing LA
darnit, now I did it too Leslieann!
I'm trying to get my sister addicted to babble - I think it's working . . . ;)
what an odd mix of letters!!
too many vowels too close together . . .
mmm....definitely
Wow, BJ's stats are up already too! Thanks BJ!
I keep seeing phantom ea words
ooh phantom word - chignon
if that's even how you spell it
good one, LA
very nice one la
thanks, i don't have any 6's but i've got a phantom 7! ;)
hey everyone!
hi helenkeller!
hey, helen!
hey hk
yippee - another teeny one - *hk does happy dance*
hello helen
*applauds the happy dance*
HINT...Hint...hint... ... ...
another phantom: honcho
going to change my icon - but i love these flying saucers, sad to see them go
lol jen
well helen it is mystery and imagination day, so your UFOs fit right in :)
lol ch1212 - never thought of that
i thought it was psycheledic day?
good point, ch1212
isnt yeech a word?
it would work for that, too . . .
LA I think tomorrow is psychedelic day.
lol, it should be, deb
oh crud *toddles off to find new icon* what are we looking for? imagination?
At least I hope so, because I already have an icon picked out for that tomorrow... I checked on Babbler's list this evening earlier
The theme is "mystery and imagination"
I'm sticking with Jane :)
i thought yours fit well, la
You can't go wrong with her, jen!
And LA, I agree! I love your icon for today ... and tomorrow!
hmm, well ok, i guess i'll be lazy if you guys insist
((())) applauds LA's decision
found the ch7...:)
go for it, LA . . . or I guess stay with it?
stay. jee, hello, i believe i've used that icon before too. good choice
thanks leslie ann...I figured he was good for mystery.

hi leslieann -- just stopping by...
ooh no I'm, not! it flipped and I missed it!
hi, stid -- how are you?
hi stidmama -- stop and play - today is short and fun
was working on a letter to a dying friend. Never know quite what to say, you know?
stid, that's what you said yesterday...you can't just stop by on this puzzle.
oh, so sorry to hear that stid
hi Jen! better now that I see the size of the grid!
ok, back with the usual suspect :)
stid - i love your story - can't wait for more!!
so sorry, stid, how difficult . . .
i too am sad to hear that stid
thanks debb -- I was going to do it yesterday, but the grid was so HUGE! so I will definitely get the next installment up later on with this grid.
you're so talented
the yorkie puppy I found on the road today is busy digging a hole through the sofa to -- Antarctica, Tom says!
going to sleep for now -- see you all later :)

I know his owners will find him and take him to his real home, but for now he is SO CUTE!
good night jen
good night Jent!
gnight jen! have fun with your sister
oh stid - you found a puppy - so sad, but lucky pup to have you
oh he's yours forever, stid
TY! *poof*
stid - take the pup to a vet & have him scanned , see if he has a chip, it's free & if he does have a chip, then you'll have your owners right away
no, the condition for giving him shelter tonight was that I put up signs (already done) and I will take him to the vet in the morning to see if they recognize him.
oh -- good idea, helen! the vet was already closed when I found him, but I can take him first thing in the morning!
night jen. Helenkeller I like the 'usual suspect'
Good for you, stid!
yeah stid - you never know, i'll keep my fingers crossed - it's great you gave him a loving place to stay - must have been freaked!

hi leslie!
lol stid-!
hey muse
When I got home, and he saw our two dogs (a puddle-mutt and the german shepherd), he jumped up and got onto my shoulders like a cat! Now he's feisty as all get out, and keeps asking Lucky to play...
stid - was he just roaming around?
in the middle of the road leading out to the main road, running his little heart out. He didn't belong there -- there are HUGE logging and dump trucks that live on these streets.
lucky - lucky dog - it's funny you already have one lucky, now you have 2, :)
LOL -- yes, fortunately, this one is temporary... though cute he really takes more energy than even the shepherd!
belated flip to you all. my son had his dance performance this evening - i know i'm The Mom, but - a star is born! he had a featured comic role - i had no idea how good he is a deadpan & double take. I'm kvelling!

im in liverpool an we havent had any rain,,,,possibly today though
nah, i've only got one of the 7's and it is a city in switzerland
paddle your own...
Oh, I saw 67 words and hoped it would be a quickie because I have little time tomorrow...???
i think it'll be quick if we help each other
The city in Switzerland is also a kind of alfalfa
already got help from Douglas - thanks!
you guys wouold be killer scrabble players
and if you knock off the last letter its a breed of dog.
notice my subtle hints for pointers for the other 7's
We're gonna get ****, ****, ****, with the music on We won't say bye bye bye bye bye bye bye bye till the night is gone...
I got the city...but not theothers...
A thing one finds on a hammer...
Huh?
hi jilli -I should be in bed but 67 looked tempting
matty, douglas is not responding to our request, he tends to spout random cl4s as he finds words
Oooh....
Yes, that is true...
maybe it's a borg thing...
hi dilly - I shouldn't be here either, but...you know how it is!
What's today's theme - anyone know?
And your clues can be helpful, Douglas. We all have our individual ways of cluing.
The Swiss city/lake is the lu7/36, kock off the last letter for the 6/24 and just use the 1st 4 letters for the lu4/6 - and that concludes the lu's
all of the above, some of the above...
You said a woooord Haz!
do they post the completer version somewhere where one can see what they missed
(kinda)
I still need 15 words --
phantom repeal
the next day you can see all the words, or at least you could in the old version
o ty
taz - if you look up above the chat box ther is an archive section
fmitch, thanks, but what we were hoping for was 7's
ty learning lots here
I know, but I reckon I won't be the only one. Besides, I'm pleased to have found my favourite pa5/12 word and an exploding church official (ca5/12)
matty - today's theme is Icons of Mystery but I haven't looked for one yet -- I'm still remembering Treacle Toffee from childhood (yesterday's theme)
Another phantom - peach. Icons of Mystery? What's that when it's at home?
clarified butter...I'm hungry for some tandoori chicken!
think it was one of babbler's suggestions
whooooo knowsss, matty!
Does your favourite PA word mean minion?
No, it means a hymn of praise
thanks again, douglas
Oh yes. I'm thinking of another word. Or I'm going crazy. Both are possible.
yw, jilibus
the hymn of praise word was in either yesterday's grid, or the day before that...I'm not quite sure
love that exploding church official, Haz!
I think it was two days ago, Douglas.
what the heck is an exploding church official???? yikes
Ready, aim FIRE!
ca5/12, taz!
there, i've got an icon of mystery
When the hymns of praise reach a crescendo the ca5/12 explodes with joy.
Also something that made Pachelbel famous...
ROFL, Haz!!!
o ty
so...nobody has other 7's?
The 1812 Overture uses these (well, plus one consonent) in the score. You could, I suppose have the ca5 firing the homonym
i have a r 7
You can tell I have my mind on food. I just got a zesty snack!
i was figuring on an re or a non or both
I have the ch7
douglas whats this tandori clue
oh, ch!
Love the ca5/12 description Haz, gotta love and leave you work is calling BBL. Happy Babbling.
Just refreshed and got your I of M, Hurshy -- very whimsical indeed, chuckle
The word I'm cluing is a common ingredient in Indian cuisine...
See ya! Can you clue the CH7, Flask?

The CL - 5/14 - is an archaic word meaning to call, name.
Hi Weird.
Thanks Sue .
You're welcome.
didnt get that but dont worry ill just keep looking for words i recognise
any clues for the 7-letter words anyone? please?
Lu - cattle eat it
ch7/36 - some people have a double ch4/6. Add a single to that for the ch7/36
Thanks jillibus.
yw, Angb
hello everyone! nice small one compared to yesterday
lu7/36 - a town and lake in Switzerland. Remove last letter for lu6/24. First 4 letters are Lu4/6
Hello MrP! This does look like a nice one
hey mr pres.
rh7/40 - remove ist letter from airways to lungs
where is everybody?
Airways to lungs...
Colds sometimes lead to b******tis
theres no b's
Jillibus -- your clues are wonderful. I just came on for a minute to see what I could add and you really helped me. Thanks....don't you ever go to sleep?
Right, weird. No b at the beginning of rh7/40
Thanks kkiln. I'm a nightowl but this game makes me ridiculously so!
jilibus, ditto what kkiln just said, I never would have figured out the rh7 word without your cl4. Thank you
i still havent!!
yw too, pap! and thanks too.
But this puzzle is way harder than the one from the other day
ive got 8 words
weird, it sounds like the disease but doesn't quite begin or end the same way
I'm half way there which is pretty good.
smashing are u from australia
no
There are times when you would give your right arm for an E, then five come along at on4/5!
Exwren, believe it or not, but your post just gave me the pa5 I was looking for. It was staring me in the face
and your on4, thanks for that one too. Another one staring me in the face
Glad I could be helpful, I am usually useless at giving hints, perhaps I shouldn't try so hard in future!
my head hurts (no, thats not a tip)
LOL, darn
sorry your head hurts though
Faunus... I can't see JFK on the board, another clue?

!!!!
you're not alone! takes a lot of practise this game does!
Thanks earlier for the clue for the RH - never would have found it otherwise!
yipee, a short one! I just scheduled vacuum cleaning for this day. Hi everyone
hi inge - & matty
Hi Lynxxx and Inge!
hi all
gosh a wee one
good morning everyone! 11 left and I am truly stuck. Think I'll leave those for tonight and then probably have to resort to lickety's list. I hate vowels!
and the stupid thing doesn't know that ancho is a kind of chile pepper!
i remember when i used to think a small grid would be easier. hah!
Hey there Cliff! Long time no see. How are you? How is your friend?
Merp ate a deer fly in the garden the other day (I had him out on his harness). I was so proud of him!
I know-my life is terribly eventful!
my friend is still hanging in there. some of his friends have arranged a concert with several area bands in his honor for Aug. 12th.
yay merp. one less deer fly!
Amazing! Will you have some sort of live feed to his room so that he can "be" at the concert too?
he lives in a home on a big piece of land - the concert will be staged in a field in back of his house.
I'm stil missing 2 6's. I have lu6/24. Anyone know what the others are
That's wonderful. I didn't realize that he was at home.
hey guys can i have some help with lu6/24?
MG-it's a lake in Switzerland, minus the final vowel, but put the vowel back on for the 7. Don't know what it isn't a proper noun, but it isn't
since there is nothing they can do for him at the hospital anymore, he wants to spend whatever time he has left in the comfort (and privacy) of his own home.
its a type of hay MG
it's great that he can manage that! When my mother-in-law was dying she was able to stay in her own apartment, and the hospice people in Boulder were unbelievable....both in taking care of her and in taking care of us, and helping to guide us through the voyage with as little fear and confusioin as possible. They brought in a massage therapist, offered a music therapist, were so incredibly respectful and calming. She died with 3 generations around her bed, in peace and dignity and without all kinds of unecessary medical intrusions.
that must have made things so much easier on all of you eva.
okay-resorted to the list. Got the ni6, but can't figure out the ch6. Anyhints?
got the pesky thing!
Well, that's another one to hit the dust. I do like the smaller grids, which gives me time to do other things, especially in this nice weather we are having at the moment. It is unusual for us Brits, so we need to make the most of it!
congrats wren! So the heat wave has broken there?
It's not as intent as it was, but still close. Haven't resorted to the thermals just yet!
Congrats ExWren and Hi Eva and Cliffopa Still hot "only" 30 degress today with humidity!
Hi FMitch, how is it going?
hi fmitch. the air is so humid in my area that it feels as though someone left the tea kettle boiling.
Fine thanks ExWren, finished grid in the cool of the morning but finding it had to focus on work
Good description cliffopa.
Hi all! Looks like vowel-day here in Babble-Land. How many words are we trying to squeeze out of this one?
Afternoon amanda you are looking for 67 words today.
many of which are uncommon or obscure.
LOL cliffopa, it's definately not as fast as the 44 we had the other day but still fun, babble words allowing.
i agree it is still fun. babble is always fun. except when the grid is 400+ words - then it is just plain exhausting!
I think I've got the 15 normal words - well, actually 10 normal words, the other five are only normal by babble-standards.
could I pls have a cl** for the uncommon & obscure ne4.5 -the last one - ty
lynxxx, dork, unpopular one
hi everyone!
hello - and ty
Think geek, Morning Fran
hi fmitch!
Hi Fran!
hi amanda!
fireworks!!
Yay Fran!
Congrats Fran!
Congrats Fran!
Hooray for Fran !
thank you, thank you! and thank you to the Jilli who gave a clue for the rh7 earlier!
I want degonx - no idea what it means, but I like it!
hey fran - our favorite electro vegetable is there - an5.10
Another mighty tighty! Hi all.
LOL amanda, sounds like a Dr Zeus - Cat in the Hat type word.
yes, that's one of the words that hid until i checked the list!
I am with you, amanda. What a lovely word!
umm, Fran - might you pass on that rh7 clue to us late-comers?
jilli's clue was to think of tubes in the lungs and take away the first letter
sorry, jilli's cl4!!
it's actually a raspy sound made by air having a hard time getting through those tubes.
oops - me sorry for that one too. But that hint did it - thanks Fran!
yw amanda!
thank goodness this is a short one, i have a lot of cleaning to do today!
Greetings sprite
oh yes! hello sprite!

Another cl4 for the Rh7 perhaps? Can't seem to jog my mind in the right direction.
Yes, lynxxx...please. RH5?
Doing fine thanks Beast. Congrats lynxx
And congrats!
Yes. Congrats, Lynxxx.
so easy its obscure - large african beastie kenny
Good grief!! Thank you.
The other one I need is that vegetable one mentioned earlier - the AN5...PATY.
Sprite - lung infection give or take a few letters...?
Kenny, like the one who makes yyou cry , but stasrt with a
kenny - the vegetable that makes you cry - swap 1st vowel (really common bable word)
Kenny, think of a veg that when you peel it makes you cry, just change the 1st letter
Kenny, if I'm not mistaken that an isn't really a veggie, sounds like one with a different first letter
amanda, I think I am way on the wrong track here. Only thing I can think of starts Pn.
FIREWORKS FOR ME!
Tag Inge!
wtg inge!
Yay for Inge !
Of course of course of course. Thank you all!! Now, for the last, it's the *$^*&^*@^ CE4. I hate asking for a cl** for 4-letter words, but my monkeys is pooped.
Tag, do you miss Mikey in Berliln and his GErman?
Congrats Inge!!
Kenny: like french pancakes, leave out a consonant.
Sprite, this one would start with a b if there were one there...
GOT IT!! FIREWORKS!!
Go Kenny !
Congrats, Inge. Umm, no, not really....
Oh, sprite. Great cl** Got it just b4 that, tho, TY.
Lol, in Holland we call that mustard after the dessert, Kenny ;)
Now, as I am officially 1/2 hour late, I need to go. Great day to all.
If Mikey only knew what a lasting impression he made....
I am gonna google on lung infection. This one is bugging me no end.
Ok....some additional hints on the "Sounds like a vegetable" please
LOL amanda I'm with you on that one.
chiley - neg charged particle

Why isn't someone who sings a ca5/12 called a c5eer?
hi feather! Where are you off to?
it's really short, you could do it quick feather.
hee hee hee
(I tried that too, sprite)
good question sprite!
:) Now that gives me some consolation!
i'm going to visit a friend in connecticut until sunday...it's our summer vacation basically
i'm doing quote puzzler for sure this morning...maybe i'll bbl

what is quote puzzle?
hey fran! top score in secret word!
chiley, it's this site - www.quote-puzzler.com
I keep wanting to join that N and that G.
it's a long word, i'm surprised i was first!
i got lucky and got the first letter where it goes on the second try
Hi all - lunchtime, so a quick look...
you're not anymore, sorry :( you're 10th now
it's a group of short, quick word games that nrk introduced us too, there are now many babblers that play there.
My phantom - phoenix
awww, i had a feeling it wasn't going to hold!
Hi Matty!
can you give me a link?
she just did.
you're still way up there on in and out though! first!
oh, that was the one i was first, secret word i was definitely not first!
Alright, I'm thoroughly stuck at 49 - how many y-words?
chiley, 6:47
Only one, amanda.
oh, d***, well then, that doesn't help - how 'bout d's?
ouch, in and out sucked! i needed all but the double vowel to get it!
Also one D.
Hello everyone! :)
just 1 of those too amanda
oooh, maybe my score will stay at number one today!
hi kittyvane!
Hi Kitty
is the grid a nice one, despite the numerous Es and only having 67 words?
feather, i messed up top letters, i put one letter too many on my top word and it wasn't accepted!!
Hi Kitty! Sheesh! G's? U's?
1 x u, 3 x g
oh no! i'm about to do it soon
I got the Gs, can't find the U...
Ul5/14, something you might get from too much stress and eating bad food
Found it - thanks Kitty!
Well, this is getting me nowhere. Guess I'll open the list and stop bugging you all
matty - carful you don't get one in your stomach if you fret too much
you'll be fine i'm sure, i was trying to squeeze a couple more points out and miscalculated!
You're welcome Matty :)
amanda, don't worry, you're not bugging, ask away
any clue for the CH7 please?
darn, lost 10 points on quote puzzler because i had the wrong line highlighted
My first phantom word of the day is "leper"
Good Morning Everyone! Clues for the 7's please
philod, take the ch4/6 and add a number
you still beat me!
hi peri!
thanks Fran
peri, you saw the clue for ch7?
oooh, got second behind spock by one point on triplet
I've opened lickety's list - I just have to control myself and only look at the first-letter part of it....
peri, the others are rh7/40 and lu7/36.
i messed up the triplet pretty badly!
Fran I know what they start with, can't find them. would appreciate help,(almost typed in a word :)
NM have the rh one, just need the lu
peri - lu is a city in Switzerland
I am pretty sure that second A wasn't in my grid just a minute ago.
thanks amanda, didn't think that would be accepted
peri, it's also a type of alfalfa apparently.
sprite, they are breeding in the heat.
me either, peri, but it was the only combination that made any sense at all
sprite, i think it may be a new feature of the site!
Thanks Fran
yw philod
Either of you could be right!
i think fmitch's explanation makes more sense! :-)
Or you could both be right! :)
I say it's the heat making them breed, it's so gosh darn hot here!
yea, nano technology added by Dr _G
Yeah, finally a past tense!
Heat activated nano-technology :)
LOL now there's a concept Kitty - hows the hot weather in Finland, any cooler?
off to make up my packing list
Does anyone else find this a tricky grid?
see you later feather! have a good time.
It's still pretty hot compared to what we're used to, but it's said to be cooling down soon. We're at +23°c or so today.
matty, some common words are hiding really well i found.
Not so bad matty but I did go to the list in the end.
any clues for the 2 PA5/12's?
I had trouble with Ch6 and Ch7, and with the Rh7 as well. Also have been blind to some words with 2 As in it. But finished now.
One is an exalted one, and the other is someone you write a cheque to.
mornin babblers!
OH that is much better Kitty, we are still at 30+ but they say we will be down to 23's next week - woohoo!!!!
hi evanadine!
yay sprite!

thanks, evanadine.
ch6/30 please?
"Nor spell nor charm, Come our lovely lady n4/7; So, good night, with lullaby. Weaving spiders, come not here; H5/14, you long-legg'd spinners, h5/14!" Guessing game time!
I couldn't find one with a4/4 in it - that would have been perfect!
CH6 -- first part sounds like C*** tea...second part sounds like "to leave" with an extra vowel on the end
thanks amanda and google!
and thanks eva
great clues evanadine
thanky, thanky. :)
thanks, evanadine
thanks got em
Why is it that sometimes the most obvious words are the toughest to get - I just spent ages looking for the sweet ho5/16 (trying g, c all sorts of letters) before finally stumbling on the obvious.
20 left to go...i think its breakfast time!!
I think that happened to the majority of us, matty
i'm right there with you matty, the other day on the 49 grid, i got smacked by a fish a lot....
that is the bane and the perverse fun of babble I guess
ch7 please?
ch7 = facial feature + number
thanks, sandr - I monkeyed that without the final vowel, no luck of course!
i have 3 7's am i missing any?
There may not be any volcanoes today but there is the voice that comes back and the other classic the Hawaiian goose (ne4)
lu6/24 please?
got the goose!! No noone, though - strange...
that goose just will not stick in my head - it's always one of my last ones
lu = switzerland
just double up on the letters amanda
sorry meant to type town in swiss
lu7 - last letter
(that is supposed to be "minus")
lol, amanda if i had the lu7 i'd be golden!
how may 7's?
trying to think of the swiss town....not doing well
3 7's
the switzerland clue is what you need
there's also a new Buick called lu*****
Feather: do you have safeway supermarkets in your are? it's their house brand
got them all then. I am on 52 and havent got a clue what i'm missing - im trying to do it without a list! fat chance!
nope, no safeway. why am i being so dense on this one?
sandr, keep going, great job!!
off to google buick cars
ok - feather think clearly (another word for clear thought)
I tried that too sandr - got to about 60 then gave in and went to the list
sounds like a loose term
how many words today
I know I'm a day early but wanted to get my icon made and up before I forgot to do it.
heh, googled buick models, found it that way. otherwise, i don't think i'd ever have found it!
67
how many r's are there in total?
ho5/16 please?
thanks charm
that one's a sweetie, charm
5 r's
charme - sweet = ho
a ho* bee
oh, here fishy fishy
thanks, amanda
got them all then i normally struggle with the r's
and sandr and saphyre. I forgot that upper row....
I don't know if I get sad or happy when i finish a puzzle this early in the day...
it eluded almost all of us, charm - seems to go in a direction we're not looking
Now I need to go get creative with a chocolate cake
FIREWORKS!!!
ok i'm going to have to get a list - well done bg
wow, the ul was easy--i kept thinking it was a hard one and finally "DUH!" I found it.

bye all (hate short grids). have fun babbling.
I have a slightly bizarre and non-babble-related question: Does anybody out there know anything about MFA-theater programs at US universities?
na5 libre (movie)
large horned animal feather
rh5 = "big horned animal"
lol, thanks. should have seen that!
wow, how did i miss CHEESE?!
Morning all
amanda, is there a particular region of the US? (i am a theatre person)
hi evanadine
Amandacath - I don't know much except that Ohio University has one

aunt heather
Bravo Feather
bye Mr. P
not too bad mm
Abe, I'm primarily looking at the southeast, mainly for logistical reasons, but haven't strictly limited myself
Bye MrP
bye mrp
Musicmom- others have said that it's relatively easy. amanda, i have a good friend who is in an mfa at the university of florida and he loves it
dosent fl have 1 in tampa
ok I have my icon up for tomorrow - anyone else need clues before I go?
or something
his program is in Gainesville
i need clues
yes...ne4/4 after the goose
what do you need jmsmo
what kind of a theater person are you, abe?
i'll take a hint
nvm just got it
chiley - noble gas
a dodge compact car for the ne 4/4
Oh wow...makes me feel stoopid..thanks
a techie; a costume designer/ dresser.are you an actress amanda?
anyone else need a clue
YYes please... lu 6,24
the third G...i've got the 4/6 and 5/14
how about the top y saphyre? thank you!
I am an actress, so to speak, abe. But with no actual training - learning by doing. And I've decided it's time to take it to the next level, ergo the search for MFA programs
add two const to the lu 4/6
the third g is a gh, mrwrite. rhymes with a kind of cheese
TY
how bout the lower d on the left
Ah, thanks Abe
ye & article
that's great amanda! i can ask some folks for recommendations and let you know. i don't work in t heatre right now and i miss it
ty
yw mrwrite. thanks saphyre!
dr & dble vowel
jms - the d rhymes with the g that was just clued
o.... i get it
ok - I'll probably stop by later to give more clues - good luck and have fun everyone
bye saphyre!
bye :)
Thanks abe! I'll bet you do - if I go too long without it I get thoroughly batty! One piece of info - I will be a "non-traditional student" (I hate that phrase), which will almost certainly limit the programs that would take me
amanda- by "non trad'l" do you mean 1) part-time 2) didn't do undergrad theatre?
what do you do when u finish the puzzle
Everything I'm supposed to be doing instead of playing babble jms
you tell us and we congratulate you, jmsmo!
something else (-:
Clue for ho 5,16 pls?
but i'm board
Anyone have a clue for rh 7/40?
jms are you done?
Have you played text twist at yahoo?
jwitt- land of milk and ho5/16
by "non-traditional" I mean ... old. 40. Ugh.
OH Please amanda - don't call that old. :-)
oh amanda, that doesn't matter in the least! ( i thought you were going to say you had 5 heads or something)
anyone got a clue for the u in uper corner
That was staring me in the face!! TY
clue please for na 5/14
*I* don't think it's old either, Musicmom - but when applying to grad school...
the people i know in the mfa programs had all taken time off to do other things (like live, work, etc). i think many of these programs like a diverse group
I'm not sure in Theater specifically but living in a college town, I can tell you more and more Master's candidates are more mature:-)
na5/14 - a kind of cheese
will you be attending full time amanda?
jms -- if youre really worried about something, youll develop an UL***
thanks
thanks
go it
well, I'm not sure about the mature bit either, Musicmom :). If and when I get in, yep, full-time, all the way - I don't think you can do theater any other way
any 1 have a hint for the y
AT OU traditional v. non traditional is determined on the # of hours you are taking. Not on your age.
i think the only jobs that are more hours than theatre are 1) parents 2) young doctors 3) lawyers
LOL Amanda - I was trying to avoid "old"
That's reassuring, abe. I keep telling myself they need people to play mothers, crazy aunts, aging actresses - whatever...
2 more clues pls... he 5,14 and ch 6,30
jmsmo93 ul5/14 painful stomach complaint
rhymes with not fat but l*** jms
thanks y'all r so nice
amanda- i think that if a dept. has a lot of people who are the same, they don't know what to do with everyone when it comes time for casting
this game is tough for me i'm 13 years old
I think you're right about the hours abe. But theater is more of a life-style than a profession. At least that's the way I see it.
It's tough for me jms - I'm 37
lol
you can do it jmsmo! it totally is amanda, t hat's why i'm taking a break from it right now. i was totally married to my career
i would belive it
I need to get hannah some breakfast. Be back in a little bit.
What are you studying now, Abe?
see you later musicmom
i am actually studying to be an ESOL teacher (like many of our fellow babblers)
Oh dear - I've forgotten, is that the same as ESL? What's the O stand for?
yes it is, the "o" is there b/c English may not be the child's second language. the 'o' is new!
English to Speakers of Other Languages.
Hi Munner
I taught ESOL for 7 years right before I retired. Loved it@!
Ah, I get it. Wouldn't EFL have doen it - English as a Foreign Language?
that's so great to hear Munner! i'm excited about it
dose any 1 have a hint for the e in the second row over two down
I think the hope, Amanda, is to make English no longer foreign!
good morning all!
we call it TEFL in the UK
jsm - I think you're looking for a bird
i think it was EFL at one time, but i think they didn't want the word "foreign". Hi Stidmama and Faunus
i think they usually dont wanna call it foreign since the point is to make it not fireign...hehe
How much longer til you'll be certified, abe?
dose any 1 speak spanish
December '07 Munner (i'm on the slow track). i've been tutoring on the side right now and I love it

LOL amanda!
i agree
hey stid u got a new chapter for us
The tutoring is great preparation for classroom teaching. What languages do your students speak? When I started, I had mostly Lao, Vietnamese, Cambodian, a few Spanish-speaking, and students from Ghana, Nigeria,

*passes fish to phandmd*
Tito, my former student, is now about 51 years old. He is the only one I have kept up with from that first amazing year in a tiny copper mining town in Arizona. He was a tiny brown-eyed Mexican boy with a great big attitude! He's really gone far and gives me much credit for believing in him. Now he has Parkinson's disease and is taking disability retirement.
*duh* thanks stid!
and with that I'm off - thanks for your help Abe, we'll see what develops on the theater front!
i'll keep you posted amanda!
Nueva York Ciudad? con perros y gatos y un pescado?
that's very inspirational, Munner. It's incredible what kind of impact a teacher can make
I am sorry to hear about your student, Munner. Parkinson's is such a stupid disease. A friend of ours died of it a few years ago.
Good morning again all -- back for round II!

hmmm. i like those corny jokes. ha!
gh4/7 - clarified butter used in Asian cookery.
lol jacula and tor. sweet and greasy, mmmmm
the trick to lunchtime babble is not getting food on the keyboard
jac: is that what gh4/7 means? I always thought twas that uniform that you'd wear when you goto karate class!
help on he5? i am just not seeing it
Fiz: depends on the food, right? chips, hard (to keep the keyboard clean). mac and cheese, easy...
shouldn't hench be a word? like hench men
True smaller ..
thank you, torgone. babble injustice just hurts
true, walnut. anything with a fork is pretty much ok, anything you eat with your hands is pretty much not.
hi all, i think maost babblers tried 'hench' today, all those hench men feeling very left out at the mo
thats what I use those monitor wipes for (we got tons of those at work). they clean the keyboards better than the screen.
But, you're reeeeally close to your he5, smaller ..
*heads to supply closet to check for monitor wipes*
it's not prudent to tick off hench men. babble should allow it....for babble's own safety
then again if just one hench man leaves to find more gainful employment, their exlusion has been worth it
reeeeeEelly close . . . Or did you get it already?
rh7\40 anyone,please?
the end does not justify the means. i want hench.
lol seano - way to keep the big picture in mind!
walnut - that's a 'gi'. (That's worn for karate.)
Yay! Fireworks! Take that, little grid - and still 5 mins to actually eat!
no dear torgone, i did not. i think i'm pouting about hench. and thus ignorance blossoms. blind ignorance. can't see it. tried heech. nopey on that one too
congrats Fiz!.
ah. thanks for the clarification, Jac.
nice one fiz
you can SEEEEEEE it smaller - it's right there on the EEEEEnd
real "E" close . . .
Smaller: Therefore...
Hooray Fiz!!!
hey...we're gonna hafta talk about that hench...being hows we employees da henchmen
dilly - rh7 is a noise, like a snore, that's made when bronchial tubes are blocked. The word itself is hidden in the tubes.
*wolfing down sandwich while watching the chatlog in case more clues are called for*
oopsy! hahahahahahahaha. forgot the first h was a two pointer
equal right for henchmen - bada bing
hey renny, please note how I was rallying for your "family" business associates
THANK YOU TO ALL for your help!
i saw you were rallying and hey - i appreciate it! we need all the rally we can get!

smarty pants smaller...yep - she's really smart....

Oh -Ty Jacula! fireworks ! my best so far. That was the only stumper.
7/36 take it on the ---- + single
bettyanne - an5/10 - think vegetable that makes you cry. ch7 chicago + what the last little piggy had for supper, sounds like a hair style

lol smaller - i totally act out in babble - perhaps you've noticed...
and i'm non confusing....or am i?
bettyanne - cl5 starts like someone who compulsively steals things, ends in 2nd vowel.
I dunno, Ren. You've confused me.;)
Good work Dilly!
Fiz, and it's GREAT, keep it up!
I'm a lot funnier here than I am IRL, and I'm not that funny here, so you can see what a stump I am . .
Thanks TheFiz. I can't believe how hard I tried and couldn't get those. I appreciate everyone's help. Bye now.
LOL tor! Since you and renny are twins, wouldn't you a sign post, too. ....or she a stump? is one of you lying?
*shouts for no reason* RHYMES WITH MUCUS! and now i have to go back to work, where i must behave like a big kid and use my inside voice.
mistress!!!!...i think i confused myself..i got a silly error
bye fiz! hurry back!
pa 5/16, anyone?
tor was cut down as a baby and has HENCHforth become a stump
pa* the bills and stutter with the second vowel
i'm back, darn they think i should be working!

LOL smaller. That's why I'm lurking. Once I start talking I can't shut up. I have 9 left.
LOL music mom!
*runs through to shout* Rhymes with Raunchy! *exit stage left*

he 5/14 is an old word used in sentences like "He***forth, you will be my slaves!" and no*** is also a middle English term meaning present
can I get a clue for the "y" word, please?
Congrats Change!
the two of them are twined like that medical guys staff.. but the no5 stands out while the he5 is almost invisible....
I have learned much history since starting to play babble. There are some really interesting words on this site. Thanks all gotta get back to work now. Aloha.
bech; it's like 365 days in a y*** but change the last consonalt
yend
One to go - help with ca 5/12 plz.
arrggghhh
y word is EAsy
I have the one that shoots
oh well, glad I didn't give it away......
ca...sounds like big heavy weapon
has to do with dogma tho
which 5/12 do you need? one is a type of boat and one is a giant gun (sort of)
i'd like tthe boat one plz
LOL!
actually it's worse than a gun. they've done more damge over the years than any projectile weapon....
oh, like what you paddle
how about a U clue?
jbp ... stomach pain
or an O clue
is caused by..
thanks atro
thanks - no fireworks though :(
they stop after two weeks for non-Pro players....
OK
I think it has to do with not be pro Alic
U clue: stomach lining sore that can cause bleeding inside
O clue "O*** upon a time..."
the U I got; how's about te O... I have not twice
have that
just add the talking horse!
past tense of saying 'o'
Past tense of a surprise o***!
wow, that's a word
who knew! (not I, apparently)
according to Someone or something it is! :)
well it must be in Enable!#
lots of these words here seem made up to me; even the reference dictionary doesn't always have them
and then it doesn't have other words that we all *KNOW* are words (like AFRO!)
yep
thats partly why I never finished yester.....typing in words that weren't allowed......!!
i could use a clue for the middle row E, 2nd from the right...
sounds bouncing off the walls
and other words we KNOW are words (like INTERNET!!!)
thanks Roc...I would swear that I typed that in already
it's a repeating thing "little sir e*** how do you do, hello, hello"
Exactly!
Hi Jilli
there are 5 E words
which one is it?
i have every, resound, sounds like to make $, and looken
Hi Nef - I'm just here for a bit
what am I missing?
How you doin' BJ??
like email but a bodily funtion jbp
the fencing sword.....
nef...huh? I don't get it
I've already finished, so I can chat and stay in the right box now! :D
thats another........and another word for 'per'...
jbp - take the word for a native american dwelling and remove the first two letters.
pounding them down... just cleared the e's...
its a fencing sword; but the word looks like a bodily function with an "E" in front
ah the sword word
thanks
are you working from top to bottom?
nef & Rock
I'm working willy nilly, personally
Flask, do you work in a neat and tidy orderly way? I go willy nilly myself
i work on whatever someone asks about usually.....
i need one more A word... zits, long time, soon, mimicer are what I have already
I try to.....I always print off Bj's list...and that helps me a lot....cos' I get so confunsed at times!
have the opposite of a cation?
it's an an5/10 that you're missing (me too).....
pungient veg...change first letter!
it rhymes with the layered veggie
a charged particle, thanks brandy, flask and nef
O**** Johnny goes on his bike selling them....lol
Roc had it right too
ya, got the charged gas while looking for it. easy word to find in the other puzzles it's been in, but this one is just plain confusing......
i could use some C words...I'll share what I have: Xmas red&White curvy candy, injun boat, fire away, where the beard grows, pants, idea
got it now then, bj??
or what Sherlock follows
very true Brandy; this one looks like it's made up of a bunch of rejected puzzle letters
i agree Nef
wiht the veggie cl4/6 was glaringly obvious again......
Oh its an odd mixture!!
Cheech and Ch**
(oops! Did my age just show?)
got the stoner one
still need some Cs...
lol nef
there are 5 ch words with the first 4 letters the same
does that help?
ah, like the fabric crepe de ch+++
that's part of the 5 I just mentioned
yep. so I need 2 more CH words
do you have the ch 6/30 and the ch 7/36?
one's a country full of dishes
no and ...uh...no
good clue....lol
gladja liked it Flask
that ch6/30 was miserable..... quite easy to find, but only if you know it's a real word to begin with....
It made me smile.....:)
uh, can I get a different clue than that Brandy?
ch6/30: take a major city in illinois, remove the middle 'ca', and add a vowel to the end.
still peculiar Bj!
there is a little flea that is spelt like the big city in Illinois on Lake Michigan except leave out the "ca" in the middle and add a vowel on the end
that is SO a made up word, Rock
Roc, you are FAST! :)
i type fast. i play tangleword.
how about let chigones be chigones?
ah, I slay me
supposedly it's a chigger or sand flea according to the dictionary
I'll brb!
LOL jbp! :D
sand flea? is that a racial slur?
ok, need to get some din. bbl. thanks to all!!
Racial slur for what Roc?
how about some clues for the top 'c' words please?
a cross between a chi.. and a ..gger?
pick something that you know isn't possible a word and type it in..... the ce and cl5 are ridiculous....
Roc, I'm old but I've never heard that one before.
i'm probably just being too sensitive.
the ce and cl both rhyme with the French pancake
thank you!
I've been bitten by chiggers before; they are little tiny fleas that live in sand ("sand fleas") and they get under swim suits and bite like crazy! You itch for days afterwards!
Ironpix, did you need more hints?
im stuck on the 'n' in the 4th column..
if no one needs hints; I'll go fix supper for my hubby
Have you got any N words yet?
Any hints on the P in the top row?
got the one that rhymes with sigh
I'm new - I have 278 score with 35 words - how does that rate?
all of the P words are from the top row, Miss
Iron, put that one in past tense too
well you'ge to the pa5 song of praise by the pa5 peasant....
ah! thank you!
Yeah, I just noticed that LOL. It's still early here
recent jack black movie ----- libre
then there is a Scottish term for turnips , and the tongue of a cart
Thanks, getting them slowly but surely.
Caromil, that's pretty good on this grid! Keep on plugging along! :D
thanks for the encouragement - made it to 297
ask if you need help Caromil; the best place to learn about how the hints are given etc. is to check out some of the Friends of babble listed down on the bottom of the page on the left there. I like both Licketys babble clues and Angelsongs page
im stuck on the seven letter ch word
(Heee! Hubby decided on a very easy supper! I don't have to cook!) :D
add 'any' to the fabric.....
Iron, it doesn't make sense when you look at it. take the part of your face where whiskers grow and add the first number to it (when counting from *** to ten)
lol, i got it. these are some obscure words
That's the truth!
i swear the jokers on the ENABLE committee were groused at missing the casino's so they just shot craps with the scrabble tiles instead....
hi everyone!
Ok am off to bed!
hi Annie!
Goodnight all!!#

Silly question - if I could have henchman, why can't I have hench?
LOL! Your guess is as good as mine, Frances
and i have been trying to put in hinch
Hello hello hello. I have a short time, would anyone like a short chapter in the story? I would attempt to not use too many grid words...

Oh Stid, are the boys away? and you can play, how nice!!!!
Mikey had to take some time away from Babble for personal reasons.
Yes, the boys have been at camp all week (Tom took the week off and so far we have not slept in once!) and my life has been much simpler!
Mikey says I may give out his email if anyone wants it...
Stid, i am sure you have use a break for you and Tom. I remember about Mikey. Oh well.

that's ok, jms, I do look young for my age!!!!!
stid is giving us a chapter a day when she can (life is busy for us all). July 25 is the beginning of the story in the archives

The eldest son was not the eldest child, but he was by far the biggest and strongest of all the ten siblings.
*moves over to make room
need a pa 5/12, already have the joyful expression
He was the first to get a "real" job and help his mother with expenses.
cobra, change the third vowel
He was the first to move out of the house (but he came home when he could on Sundays).
Cobra, that's the peasant, change the 4th letter

*good story*
hey everyone! Yeah, job is awesome, just not used to getting up so early and putting brain into use for other than raising our son. :)
an 5/10 - a smelly veggie - change first letter
hands tissues to jms*
it's done
Jen, im happy for you, everything will fall into place
He and his family, which by the time of our story, numbered five members, lived on the other side of the mountain, half a day's journey away. So obviously, they couldn't visit as often as everyone would have liked.
congrats on the job, Jen!!!!
obviously...
jms - the grid is done?
Still, several times a year, they made the trek around the mountain, to see his mother and his grandparents and his siblings.
okay, now the last one. ye, please
rhymes with mean
rhymes with not fat
for me
In some places, the path was wide and easy and two large carts could pass each other easily. In other places, it was so narrow their small cart could barely get through.
Yippee! Thanks all.
*wonders what he will think of papa's return*
wtg Cobra
(oops...getting ahead of the story)
Anyone need help?
mooves to mama bear to git under the binky and brings a big pillow
yay cobra! now join us for the story!
There were dips and rises, as there often are, on circuitous mountain lanes.
YAY Cobra!
And every so often a bridge -- this one of stone, this one of wood, crossed a narrow canyon in which tumbled a waterfall.
Thanks for the offer, but I'm off on the hog momentarily. Enjoy!
*gets out fuzzy blanket b/c babble land is not hot and humid...*
About halfway on their journey, there was a wide spot on the far side of the bridge, in the shade of a great spreading tree.
later cobra
Here, spring, summer, autumn and winter, the eldest son and his family would shelter while they ate their meal, and rest.
Thanks MAMA!
bye cobra
On hot days, the tree made a comfortable, cool shade.
*all sit on the floor surrounding stid cuddled up by the fireplace with blankies n popcorn listening to story*
thx mamabear! had to think a minute about "smelly"...
later Cobra!
Can anyone please help with no 5,12 ?
On cool days, the tree provided a baffle so the wind passed around their picnic spot.
n + on 4/5
n+on4 meaning a single time
On rainy days, the large branches and wide leaves formed an umbrella and let the family dry out by a small fire while they ate.
* asses pop corn along
thx
Passes
sry
eww. jms's butt is in the popcorn
This tree was a special favorite of the man and his wife, for here they had first met, traveling in opposite directions as children with their families.
sry but i got cold
no fighting during the story pls kids.
And it was here, when they were a little older, that they met again, by chance, as he traveled to a new job and she to help her sister with a new baby.
*holds open fuzzy blanke to jms*
And it was here, that not long after, they had plighted their troth one to the other.
So now, they brought their own children, often meeting up with other families in the shelter of the tree, which was never too small for any number who wanted to rest by the gushing creek.
plighted? meaning pledge i think
(sorry)
TheFiz It may not be hot and humid where you are but here, 0139 in the morning it is 90 degrees and really sticky. Ugh!
*moves under the binkey
*takes planket from frances*
On this journey, the man and his wife, their eldest child and middle child walked, while the baby slept contentedly in a basket in the middle of the cart, swaying -- and occasionally bumping -- in rhythm to the cart.
*blanket*
Even blanket!
Okay, so I was on for about 10 minutes... did nothing but say hey. Need to put my son to bed. Maybe I can actually play this weekend! Hope you all have a great Friday! :) {{hugs}}
Frances, please move away from the fireplace
lol sadly, frances, i don't live in babbleland - 8:40 p, 87 and 90% humidity...just fantasizing
u too jen
The eldest child, a young boy, eagerly raced ahead, just out of sight, and then waited for his family to reappear. He looked for all the world as if he had just received the best present ever.
Good night Jen, take care and visit more when you can!
bye, jen
bye jen, congrats on the new job!
*hits a switch and turns the fire place heat dowt for frances
Anniebrook I know I need to lose weight but this is ridiculous 'dripping' cannot sleep. He/5/14 babbling
I will try stid! Just no internet at work otherwise I would. :)
he*** forth...
Thanks jm. Aircon would be good!
The middle child, a girl just past toddling, walked carefully beside her father, holding his hand most of the time, but often stopping to look at a pretty pebble or talk to a bird in a briar.
*gasps in horror* no internet at work?!?!
turns a fan on for francs
*hands frances a nice glass of lemonade*
Frances, was only kidding. i know, it must be awful.
Now, the family was not wealthy, though the man and his wife worked hard, but they were comfortable. They had a small house near the shop where the man crafted saddles and furniture out of a wood peculiar to their area.
This wood when, rubbed with sand, became soft like leather.
i hate huidaty
When rubbed with oil, the wood became hard as steel.
humidaty
me too - give me desert any day...
*hands Fiz a chocolate cupcake*
And it was light, so light that horses didn't mind being saddled, and often the top beams in houses could be put up by just two people.
i live in AZ, trust me you get sick of the dry heat
i lived in arizona when i was 2 and there was no humidaty
I too hate it when it is humid. Soooo draining
or dessert - i never turn that down. thanks MAMA!
when your skin burns from the reflection of the sun off the side walk...
Jms, it's humidity
LOL Fiz!
Unsurprisingly, the items made in this village (and one other, further out on the plain) were highly sought after, and brought good prices.
my dad made us move to new york caus he hated the blue skyes every day
Still, the people of the village were level-headed, and continued to make what they needed first, and then sold the rest. In this way, all the people benefitted from the wealth around them.
yeah ... i will be moving sooner or later... i need more gloom in my life =)
i'll take dry heat over liquid sun any day! and blue skies always!
*hums to self* blue skies, smiling at me, nothing but blue skies...
i agree with lb
Once a year, in the Autumn when it was too hot to work and the nights were not too short, the village held a festival and celebrated their good fortune.
stid - where is this exactly so i can move there?
We've just had the hottest July on record. This evening we had a storm but that just made it even steamier and we have water restrictions!!!
It was just after this festival that our family was traveling, bearing gifts to the man's mother and siblings.
{{{Fiz}}} If I find it, you are all invited! :-)
grid says 5 left, list says 4....... grrrrrrrr
Soon, the little girl's legs grew tired, and she rode on her daddy's shoulders.
*frowns at frances' weather, smiles at babble utopia*
I had that prob yesterday; at least there are alot less words today
Soon, the little boy's legs grew tired, and he stopped running ahead and walked steadily by his parents.
i might start a story towmaro at 12:00 am or we can have a potrey corner bring ur best poetry
Soon, the little girl's head nodded, and she fell slowly to one side...
ooooo.... poetry - I've got one!
to be caught by her mother's strong arms and set gently on blankets in the cart next to the baby.
good idea jms - maybe a babble fish theme!
what a nice visual that gives, stid..... ahhhhhh
The little boy climbed up and sat at the front of the cart, holding the ends of the reins -- of course his daddy held the working end.
missed some of story...had to reboot..
:(
1 min i have a good long 1
check the archives cath!
As soft winds sweep away the days I look back on life through a haze. Remember playgrounds, parks and friends, In childlike gaze that never ends. The laughter in a game of catch, Shall memory ever attach... To innocence in youthful eyes, Catching the ball to Dad's surprise. I recall my first bike, first wreck, Who picked me up, said, "What the heck?" Convinced me to give one more try, While, knees skinned, I forgot to cry. Just the joy knowing he was there, Making him proud my only care. There was nothing I couldn't do, My heart held fast that to be true. Though teenage years were kind of rough, I sure wasn't too big or tough. You taught me to defend what's right And never back down from a fight. So I learned the hard way to stand, Still, with each lump, I found your hand. Drawing from you an inner strength, And stubborn pride of equal length. But there the line of fate was drawn, As though I blinked and you were gone. I found myself facing the sun, Not man, not boy, fatherless, one. Eyes blinded by a void inside, I could not live that you had died. Alas finding it to be true, I could do nothing without you. Please, Dad, today just hear my call, I'm sorry that I dropped the ball. My life is wrecked, my knees are skinned, My emotions undisciplined. I can't get up although I try, Please don't be upset if I cry. Though I can't fight what I can't see, Please, Dad, say you're still proud of me.
As long as it isn't Vogan poetry
vogan?
And so, in silence and in quiet conversation, the man and his wife walked along. The little boy finally tired of his game and lay down next to his sister and watched the clouds and the birds and the trees and the rocks and he finally fell asleep also.
want another 1
Who wrote that lovely poem, jms?
jms - we're in the middle of the story - can you wait a little? i'd love to read more later.
1 of my friends and i worked
(((jms)))like you suggested at sometime tomorrow? Nice start.
yeah ill wait for the story i love this story so far
Before long, the man and his wife looked down upon the village where he was born. He turned to her and smiled, "I believe we are home." She glanced at him and replied in soft tones.
thanks - you're really quite talented, if this one example is any indication.
"I am glad we are here." She reached over and picked up the baby who had begun to fuss and soothed him with a gentle touch.
And the man and his family walked on.
how dose she think of this
she's amazing! that's how! it's like one of her superpowers...
(gee you folks are good listeners!)
LOL Fiz! good thing I was done with the chapter. :-)
*pops thumb in mouth in shame*
*quietly offers around popcorn and lemonade
Cathy, were you able to pick up the story again okay?
i'll take that power over beaing able to wright poetry
yes...i missed a little...but still know what's happening
tks for asking!
8 year old son enjoyed the chapter and dreads that I'm sending him to bed! He wanted me to say thanks, stidmama
thanks for the refreshments, bookwyrm. I will put the transcription up at BabAnon sometime later tonight or (more likely) tomorrow.
thanks stidmama, looking forward to more
thanks book for the feedback! tell him he is very welcome, and I will keep writing as long as people want to read and listen.
this part wasn't a big happening part - it's more of a scene-setting part. you missed some lovely words but you should be able to follow along.
hi stid!
So opinions asked for: do you want the background chatter included in the transcriptions or no? I would leave out the hints and such and keep it pegged to the storyline.
Thanks stid! I was serious about the superpower - it's really amazing what you're able to come up with. And using words like "baffle", too!
was there an installment yesterday? and what time did it start?
(see, i listened)
Fran, I didn't write yesterday because the grid was so big that people just didn't have time to enjoy it.
could certainly leave out the clues!
keep the chatter stid! that was fun reading also.
(did I really say baffle?)
dose that mean it's over
(yup)
what time did the story start today?
would be redundant after the grid is done
one to go, I must be blind, anyone help please ye 4/6?
okay, will keep the chatter. I love that part of this -- it makes it so much cozier and "real"
go fidjet go!
can i do more poetry
rhymes with "mean" - not mucus
fidget: combine a period of twelve months with what the tower of Pisa does....
fidjet, rhymes with getting a baby off the bottle
please jms!
yes, jms I will look for the poetry in the archives later. Our dinner is finally ready! :-)
(you might want to try 1 stanza at a time, though)
Window panes come crashing down Amidst the tears and pain Vanishing hopes are gone and flew away Up above through twilight Shadows cast across the floor Reflections of the past Trembling thoughts of one Dwelling deep within the soul A mystical sense of reality Captured by the craze All in bewilderment Of the shock in the wave Creatures of the dimness Chattering amongst the green Everything slows in stillness What is this we see?
later all!
later stid!!
oh, hi everybody!
later
bye stid - have a good dinner!
Hi Fran!!! and bye stid!!!
hey annie!
Like I said, the first day, I think our responding to the storyteller (stidmama) with our own "story of listening" (like pulling up carpet squares or gasping in response) made it something altogether new...
Like I said, the first day, I think our responding to the storyteller (stidmama) with our own "story of listening" (like pulling up carpet squares or gasping in response) made it something altogether new... Nite Stid!
hi fran - nice fractals!
*fractles? how do you spell that?
book, you can say that again!
Thx, knew I was blind, its always the easy ones that get me. I am finished, I can't believe it. Hooray for me. Beautiful fireworks !!
thanks fiz!
yay fidjet!!!!
yay fidjet! and jms - thanks for sharing your talent with us!
first one was right fiz!
I cannot speak for all who stem 'Long roads less traveled as their way, Nor question choices made by them In days long past or nights long dim by words they spoke and did not say. Each road is long, though short it seems, And credence gives each road a name Of fantasies sun-drenched in beams Or choices turned to darkened dreams, To where each road wends just the same. From North to South, then back again, I followed birds like all the rest Escaping nature's snowy den On roads I've seen and places been, Forsaking roads that traveled West. This journey grows now to its end, As road reflections lined in chrome Give way to roads with greater bend And empty signs that still pretend They point the way to home sweet home. But all roads lead to where we go And where we go is where we've been, So home is just a word we know, That space in time most apropos For where we want to be again. For even home, it seems to me, Is still a choice we all must face From day to day and endlessly, To choose if home is going to be Another road - or just a place.
My poor phone line connection is driving me nuts. I'll sign out now. Nite all.
bye stid! that was wonderful!
night book!
night book
nght
night book. jms - try posting 1 stanza at a time next round - i can't see the whole thing at once...
see u l8r stidmama
In that forgotten part of town Where wasted hopes and dreams abound, A wrinkled man with life near end, In hopes to have at least one friend, Fashioned bits of wood and things And made a dummy run by strings.
He sat alone for hours on end, Conversing with his only friend And found delight within the fact That he controlled it's every act. He told it how he never had A chance, since all his luck was bad Although he'd tried so to succeed - The dummy nodded and agreed.
(thx jms - much easier for me, anyway)
And how his journeys in romance Had never given him a chance, And wasn't it a crying shame That he was always held to blame When everyone knew, oh so well, That life is but a living Hell, Controlled by lust and power and greed? The dummy nodded and agreed.
(except it come out upside down. hmmm)
wow smsmo
I've got one that I wrote when made redundant a few years ago called 'Over the Hill'
is there a clue for the rh 7?
oops...*Jmsmo
You know that feeling – on the heap When all you want is earn your keep. They see your age is over forty Although you know you’re fit and sporty Past your prime? I think I’m in it. I long for work, there is no limit. I take advice and all suggestions Even ask some awkward questions. Then sit and wait to be rejected It leaves me feeling so dejected. I hate to feel I’m over the hill, It’s becoming such a bitter pill. Will nobody give me some work. You have my promise not to shirk. I’ve tried juggling all the balls. Yes, I’ve even climbed the walls. I think you know the feeling, Now I’m dancing on the ceiling. I even thought I’d work from home And avoid the temptation of a loan. Please help me back to life’s team To rediscover my self esteem. Just help me to reach my goal And get me off this wretched dole! I’m so fed up with this nightmare. Enough, enough, I’ve had my share. So come on it’s just too extreme Help me try and live the dream. To say at last I can relax And boast “Guess what, I’m paying tax!â€
My guardian angel, once careless and free, flew into the clouds and lost touch with me. Her tears were cold and wet, falling on my face. Her smile had left us without a trace. Her angelic lips quivered, frozen and scared, I felt rain clouds visiting, and had to prepare. I knew that angels, often content, were very special presents that God had sent. To see one so sad, so afraid, so alone, had made me weep while the cold winds had blown. Her wings lost feathers, comforting and soft, falling from the stars, floating aloft. Her pain was felt throughout the land, to feel true misery is impossible to stand. I prayed so that when her hurting stops, I'll be able to taste the angel's teardrops.
aknitter, rh7 is like the br* tubes in your lungs, take the first letter off.
ooh ooh let me - Rhymes with Raunchy!
u all are writing stuff i'm oddly relating to. *feels ashamed to admit my life feels sadly similar*
ty fran, got it. good clue
oh, cath, you're no dummy!
and you've certainly got friends - just look around!
yw aknitter!
If only the world could see what I feel then, would the world, know who I am I've loved, lost and feared the world for it is sometimes too much to bare Control, power, is what I fear for I am weak inside and full of pain I shout and cry, but knowing there is nobody there to hear me I swallow the shame and anger that lies beneath me I am lost to reality and living in time Though I am struggling through life and all that it offers, I am only human and that is what makes me . . . Me. Still, I wish for the happiness and pleasure that I have earned, but realize that, I have not yet overcome the world's greatest challenge Love! and how to accept it - I am ready to face my fears
ha ha finally got the rhymes with raunchy
thanks. not as good as rhymes with mucus from a few days ago, but certainly gives me an opportunity to act out a little.
As a son I lost a father, As a father, a son - If the choice was mine I'd rather Had not lost either one. I do not know where I come from Or where I am to go. True, this fate is less than some And more than some can know. My father, my son - you both I miss But we shall meet someday In the kingdom where angels kiss To chase the clouds away.
lol fiz!
my dad wrote that
i have friends in babbleland...I LOVE BABBLELAND... I do have friends in life...the true ones i treasure...the fickle i try to not let myself be hurt from
I like that one jms - the hope at the end make it particularly poignant.
ok fiz what rhymes with mucous?
fucus, i think? can't rememember - that's not the relevant part to me.
oh i remember that word
me too cath. that's a good policy when it comes to others.
what other website can one find where relationships are wholesome and helpful? this is MY first!
When I look at your eyes, I see your true self. I see you're sweet, and caring. I see you're giving and forgiving. I see your love for me. When I look at your eyes I stop myself from crying When I'm alone and think about your eyes I cry. I can't stop thinking that one day I'll never see those eyes again That I'll never see the love or the sweetness Or the love that makes you who you are. One day you'll be gone - gone from me. Gone from this world. No matter what happens, those eyes will one day close And forever rest in peace. But you'll never be completely gone, Because every time I close my eyes, There you will be.
greetings
No wonder the creator is called "Dr. God"!!!!

Every new beginning, comes from some some beginnings end. Every time you kill me, I am born again. Every time you close that door, Another door is opened. And every time you say goodbye, a different word is spoken. Every time you look at me my back is facing you, And every time you ask to see me I'll have something else to do. Every time I join your game, You're not playing fair, And every time I really love you, I pretend that I don't care.
i'm sooooo flattered fiz

Waiting by Dawn D. Wanting, lusting, to be held, to be loved, to feel warmth, to feel your beating heart. Wanting to be sheltered from the cold, heartless winds. Falling into invisible arms; into an abyss of love. Wishing, hoping, that my desires will be filled; my desires of loving warmth. Wanting to be held, comforted, loved. Dreaming of passionate embraces, of tender kisses, loving words, romantic nights. Waiting for undying love.

sorry, renfield, that stinks
speaking of poetry tonight, my bio is a poem this evening!
A lovely rose with petals soft A scent so sweet and light So beautiful a flower With colors shining bright. But something not so savory About the fragrant rose - The thorns, so sharp upon the stem, That sharpen as it grows. Yet still lovely is the flower Despite the thorns that prick Just as life and love are sweet They too have thorns that stick. But do not fear to live or love, Life's not exempt from pain - So pick a rose, you may get hurt, But you will also gain!
that looke like fun wolfie! how is it?
here woulf, ren!!
clues anyone?
this is a hold up..give me all your words and clues...

one pa 5 is a song of joyful praise -- been in the grid before
nut That is so funny - weird but funny
Standing on the outside, looking in. Afraid to knock on the door in front of you. How many times have you stood at the threshold but been too scared to cross? What is it you fear? The unknown lies ahead. What awaits you on the other side? Only one way to find out. The door swings open, Will you enter?
mama - change the last vowel in the one you have

cathy, dr_g probably turned the animation off in the chatterbox.
ch6/30 = ch+ the "me" word + plus to leave + 2nd vowel
what do you need jfarber?
a true compliment coming from mama.
if you make an error, you might take o** on the ch4/6, jl. put the ch4 first
ya...maybe fran... was neat tho
hi everyone. Almost too soggy here in Vermont to breath! But who needs breath? What I do need is a hint for the an5/10. Probably a dead fish.
I will post it a verse at a time, jms.
got it! fireworks...thanks!
an5: a kind of particle.
To Dream To dream ... a phenomenon of the mind... A divinely given gift from heaven - that which cannot be planned by man or manipulated in any way by human cause. A means whereby there is escape - to enter, to explore, to experience, to see through the eyelids what the eye in daylight cannot.
eva - charged particle that rhymes with a veggie that makes you cry
eva - opposite of cation
assicons...lol...the best i can do for poetry??? lol
Yay jfarber!
nice
yay jfarb
nice
Thanks ren!
and Fiz!
yay me -- and thanks all for for the hints to others, which I shamelessly utilized.
To fly, to soar above the clouds. To free fall to the earth, never touching the ground. To float naked atop the ocean's waves, absorbing the sun's rays and all its warmth to the very soul. To walk barefoot on an unending beach of powdery sand, the only sound being the call of the seagull or gently rolling surf. To enjoy a lasting embrace, a kiss that makes all existing nonexistent. To sing and to dance on a stage surrounded by a field of musicians in perfect tune to a song with infinite chorus. To climb up a rainbow and touch the sky, sliding gracefully down to where the color begins.
renfield i know that too so i feel totall y comfortable saying you are a DORK.
to dream is also to heal of daily trials
yw eva
To awaken refreshed, with the memory of experiences only allowed in the mind of the dreamer. To cling to the hope only afforded in slumber.
mama i love the imagery here!
that was beautiful Mamabear!!!
hahahahahaha fiz....i am....
To reflect through daylight and daydream what was enjoyed in the night, until the time once again when darkness returns, and we pray for the peace, the happiness, the escape that only sleep provides.
she's our dork fiz....
and you love me right!
And we willingly fall to the place all our own.... to sleep... with hope ... to dream. The End
(hmm...i'd like that mamabear...mine are usually nightmares)
this ones to my best friend
As childhood friends, we grew up together, Swearing to be friends forever and ever. Sometimes we would argue and fight, Other times we would laugh and stay up all night. We went from playing with games and toys, To talking and dreaming about different boys. My thoughts and feelings, to you I would confide, Never having anything to hide. Friends we do remain, Things changing, and things staying the same. To each other we still listen and share, About each other, we will always care.
lol nut! rennie, don't have enough dork love it my life - would be happy to sling some around here!

Help with the rh7 please
lovely jms! i've got a dear friend i grew up around the corner from - we don't get to see each other too often but it's always like no time has passed at all!
From dawn to dusk I think of thee, As I feel your sweet spirit come over me. A calming hand, A warming heart, You and I shall never part. Follow me as I kneel to pray, to thank you for my days of praise. To you I owe, my life I lend, for in return I promise a friend.
sorry jmsm

np
rh + opp of off + first 3 letters of city I live in
*pulls pocket protecter open to catch the dork love* Rhymes with Raunchi, Woulf!

nrk, first part was two days ago starting at 3:30 pm
fran, being cool? always and forever! ;-)
hi annie!
hey ya annie!
all in chat, or in babanon?
sure fiz - the trick is - hey wait!!!
ok, first let me say that i do not now, nor have i ever had a pocket protector.
lol nut, i meant stid's story.
dilbert has a pocket protector doesn;t he?
in the chat nrk
hi annie!!!
in the log
but what IS it fiz???
you use one to keep the ink from your pens from getting ink on your shirt.
i have a gold plated pocket protector
you put a pocket protector in your shirt pocket so the ballpoint pens wont leak and stain your shirt as you try to fix the tape on your glasses
stid said she moved in to BabAnon I think
pa5/12 that isn't singing praise?
rofl annie!
change the last vowel to the round one Eva!
eva, just change the last vowel, it'
ahhhh...lol...of course.... LOL...i'd have thought it was something naughty the way it's spoken of, but alas...a pocket protector is merely a geek thing
i don't wear shirts with pockets much, but i do like the ubercool image of having them stick in the neckline of my shirt.
lol
change the third vowel
it's a type of poetic foot.
bling bling, nut
my pocket protector is purple w/ black pens
and i HAVE stuck uncapped, roller ball pens in the front of my shirt and had HUGE ink stains instantly appear in my cleavage
wow-thanks guys. Never would have monkeyed that!
oops...sorry ren...didn't mean to insinuate geekiness to YOU of course.
it has super cool nut engraved on nit
it's hot.
fiz, at least you have cleavage!!
well...i'm tired from too many nights of no sleep... fiz...gotta be hard on ya rubbin them stains off!!!
in this heat, fran, it's no advantage.... just more folds and creases to fill with sweat.
she needs a cleavag protector
inkstained cleavage is the rage now

Hi kristi!!! {{**Hug**}} -- how are you doing?
lol mamabear
i like being tid
Hullo, everyone, I'm looking in to share some sadness with you. I've just been watching--live on Canadian t.v., the Black Watch regiment's farewell to its fallen comrades. All soldiers' funerals are given national coverage in our country; the last 2 (of 20) to have fallen in Afgahnistan died just yesterday. It breaks my heart. Sadly, when i was in the States recently I was admonished by a man from Ohio who wanted to know why Canada had not supported President Bush in his fight for freedom. I answered as calmly as I could thay Canadian forces were in Kandahar as a peace-keeping force ( ironic term) and that many had already died there, some as a result of so-called friendly fire. But it matters not which country you represent. The terrible folly of war is unbearable. Thanks Mambear for your lovely heart-lifting poetry. Thank you all for your forbearance and goodwill.
hi GW, I'm hanging in there...good to be back to babble--most normal thing I've done in the last few weeks
btw -- backtracking to {*ren*}, {*mama*}, {*Eva*}, {*Fran*}, and {*Everyone else*}
I'm glad you enjoyed it hetty. War is indeed a horrible thing.
{{{{hetty}}}}} we don't get coverage of such things - if we did there wouldn't be anything else on - but i'm almost glad b/c my heart can't handle it. it's so important to bear witness to sacrifice, though.
hetty, my future sister in law returned from kuwait last weekend
kris - been missing your gold lame' toes!
hi hetty! that IS sad and ignorant of that person from Ohio to say anything to you.
lol Ren :) good to have my toes missed I suppose
Hetty, i'm glad you told that man the other side of the border story. Some Americans are rather jaded and oft times monocular in seeing what the rest of the world is doing. I'm sorry for the loss of all our troops in this middle eastern war
hetty, this war never should have been. just terrible!
gold lame toes? jealous...
hmm.... to start or not to start?
just do it shutterbug! you know you want to!
go for it shutterbug
kris, so glad to see you (((((hugs))))
all you folks in the US - please make sure you are registered to vote and go out and do it! whatever your politics, we need more participation.
ok so nut has a gold pocket protector and kris has gols lame' toes....we are jealous!
fiz...rennie thinks my icon (really the Space Needle) looks like golden toes...it makes her happy so I roll with it :)

oh, kinda like i thought it was the statue of liberty!
my toes are really metallic blue - well, nails anyway. it's tremendous fun.
shutterbug, only a few really odd words. only 67 total
fiz - that works except last time i couldn't decide - i didn't like either candidate.
on your toes nut? you sent me a picture of your blue metallic toes!
Ahem.....a poem.....
hi, all...someone, please do me a favor. go to the Resource Guide, and see if you can open the icons calendar using the link in the pull down menu at the top of the main page. Someone has mentioned having an error trying to load it, and it does work fine for me.
so write in Fiz for President.... i'd do a great job. i wasn't too excited, either - last 2 rounds.
yes, i had blue metallic - got rid of it the other day though.
Roses are red, violets are blue.
Roses are red, violets are blue.

Too many magic mushrooms??????
i have a question, what is this psychadelia stuff?
heel
tiny -- I had cable then swapped to DSL -- personally the difference in performance is minimal (to my perception, at least)
lol frances....
gotta make sure i choose an appropriate image.
Tiny Got that one. Can I please have one I haven't got!
i had DSL for a while woulf, the difference was there were no slow-downs during peak hours like with cable sometimes, but DSL is slightly slower.
Where we are situated we can only get cable internet so it has to be cable
brb...need to move my car closer to the door.
lol frances
gettin sleepy - gonna go do sudoku before my eyes slam shut........
gotcha, Tiny :)
does renfield have a scary job?
fiz - she's a hit man, er woman
not scary Fiz, but I think she is probably the last to leave
Let's see, could you wonderful folks give a clue for ch7,36? Please? (And thank you, too, of course!)
nut, i have no personal experience with psychadelia, but it has something to do with the 60s culture of acid and halucinogenic type drugs.
janiece, ch4/6 (face part) + a number
so it seems from whats coming up - it's not inspiring me.
janiece, thing at the end of your face plus first number

Saphyre! I am molto impressed
and not using lickety
i like chatting with everyone
so i haven't
no list, red? you're a star! :)
i got a chat room clue on the last one ONLY for this puzzle, but i picked up lickety's clues with 12 left. getting 45 on my own made me happy.
I finished a short one last week before lickety posted with no clues
I don't think it woiuld be as much fun without lickety and the log
in about 30 minutes
fig..did you do today's nytimes puzzle?
who is lickety?
very impressisve saphyre. we have a babblepro in our midst (humble bowing!!!)
lickety's clues, bottom of babble page
lickety posts the first two letter list - link at the bottom of the page
i know i mean who is lickety?
lol fig
chj, no didn't! i stopped my subscription to the nyt and only get it in my local paper if i pick it up at starbucks
at the bottom of this page is a list of friends of babble; three of them have two-letter lists of words for each grid.
he lives in autralia I believe
i've been toying with last sunday's 9the local paper carries them a week later than the REAL one.
i've been toying with last sunday's 9the local paper carries them a week later than the REAL one.
did you?
he does it because he loves us :)
lickety is a guy in australia, to place him rather broadly.
last question for now why would i pay $15, just so that i can have an icon?
We get the NY times sunday puzzle in our sunday paper (Victoria Times colonist) - I do that one
To support Babble and Dr God, Red
good evening all
mayne: i'll be in victoria next week.
red you get to keep the stats box and get fireworks, and an icon
they did a takeoff on the famous 1996 election day puzzle where the clue was who was going to win the election and you could answer either CLINTON or BOBDOLE and both would work with the down answers
red in 2 weeks you will not be able to see the tile stats
i paid cause i wanted to support the person who allows me to have asuch a good good time
Really? Where are coming from?
i paid because i thought HECK it's a one time fee for fun. why not.
well worth the $15
Red4ever69, you would also get fireworks everytime you finish a grid.I'm not pro & I never get fireworks!
You don't really need to, red, but Jamie needs the money.
aha i see
i paid because i wnated a cooler icon
Best $15 US I've spent
Why 2 weeks?
mayne: coming from san diego, ca. flying to seattle, then taking the fast ferry over. boyfriend's fmaily has rented a house. getting all my walking tour info from frommer's com. any NON touristy recommendatoins. i love history, architecture, food, nature, etc.
Fig - where are you coming up from?
that's the trial period
just posted)
I should really go pro before the rate goes up again!
How long will you be in Vic?
whats the log someone mentioned also licketys or something else?
all: things worth paying for: good shareware. babble. the new york times :-)
we'll be there a week.
You absolutely have to see the BC Museum - amazing
i shall put that on my agenda.
I thought the way websites work is that everytime a person logs on, you get money. Is that not correct?
the tile stats leave after the 2 week trial
what's the weather? it's hotterthanheck here...90 and humid, believe it or not.
only if there are ads on them min
miveryork, NO WAY....some times people get paid for "hits"...but THEY pay for someone to host their site. they can MAKE you subscribe to USE it with passwords, etc . but usually, if you can see it, then you're getting it for free.
Also - the day tour of the islands is well worth it (just don't try it on the weekend!) And if you can get to Tofino - beautiful
yeah, or if they ahve ads, then the advertisers pay them to post their ads.
TOFINO...got it. a day tour sounds fantastic.
will i love it enough to expatriate the us :-)
It's been really hot here too - but cooling down now - 24C - which is nice. Where in Vic are you staying
