rode
oops!
hi chic!
hey chic already got it - pls try something new LOL
hey debbila!
yes chic- me too, something different would be appreciated
my brain hurts already! come up with your own stuff, andy! LOL
Is it just me, or is this grid especially brutal today?
supposedly there are 20 more 4 letter words here, but i sure don't see them
seems it to me
exactly!
well... i don't wanna say what my phantom word is :0
hi again everybody! dinner is cooking, i have 40 minutes to play.
will do chic - but then I doubt I post it at this early hour ROFLMAO

Hey Fran, I like Poe too!
oooooo, stoppit, nan. lol.
or sturgeon
chic, who is your poet?
i found one ro6/21. are there more?
hey nan it is so cool - we all love pathobiology
aha - found the 7 !
Gertrude Stein, A rose is a rose is a rose...
yay helen!
no gail - my r's are finished & that's the onyl one i have
ahh. think of somebody who helps a band when travelling.
oh cool chic!
oh. you have it already. sorry.
found two weird fo words, if anyone is stuck on those, just yell
ahh. we always appreciate clues for weird words!
only got fo 4/8 - *like* - thoughts?
thanks andy, didn't have that yet
same fo that i have
fo5/18 and fo6/30, start like an enemy, end like mr. lennon, 6 is plural
i am fo4/8 of clues for weird words
yw Fran - clues 4 your fo stuff pls??
gail - this is *cool* clue request
tx fran :)
also gail - pls send invalid clues to /dev/null LOL
yw hk!
ty, andy. i try and somtimes i succeed.
andy, clue was at 12:37, did you see it?
ok fran ty for the clue but i dont get it (surprise)
am scratching my head...
I did and still trying to figure it out :-(
taz, fo + anagram of an egg-laying chicken and then plural
Fran thank you danke schon domo arigato
tyvm franmag
yw andy!
yw taz!
btw Fran I *love* EAP - was in his house in Philly few years back
good grief
doesn't this pick make him look rather miserable though?
hello all
*pic
i HAD to look up the defination of that word immediately. thanks for the fo clues!
hi mva!
Morning dear gang :)
hiya mva
hey sprite
hi sprite!
sprtie
well yeah sure but reading his stuff would you argue he was a happy camper?? Me thinks not.
My first phantom is a dutch flower... or is it english too? Begonia.
hi sprite
heyyya sprite *(hug)*
evening everyone!
mine is surgeon
english too
sprite it is international
hi krys
l word anyone
HI Krys looong time no seeee
true andy! died a miserable death too, i guess all that suffering became his dark, eerie stories that i love
hi krys!
Hi Krys! Glad I am not alone with this phantom then ;)
hi krys!
addicted to what...? laudenum?
indeed! hello everyone and thanks for the warm welcome. so far i have found two (2) words
hi Krys
funny - on jimmy kimmel right now, emily deschenal was telling a story of how supposedly EAP was buried alive
don't know gail, but i think i remember he died of an STD.
or something just as awful.
hey Krys that means you only have 84 to go :) and that is a great position
she said she heard they dug him up a year later & there were scratches on the inside of the coffin
Hi sprite -- sorry missed your entry -- nose in the grid!
what a coinkidink helen!
i know, creepy, huh?
Hey nan :) That's where all our noses belong right now ;)
helen not in my books (EAP) but then I am happy to concede I am not an expert on EAP
Guys, who are you talking about with that creepy stuff?
helen, that sounds like something right out of one of his tales
hmmm--sounds like "Fall of the House of Usher" to me--hi all
sprite Edgar Allan Poe
Aha! Now it all makes sense!
or the cask of amr(cough, cough) illo
or - was his (EAP) coffin recycled ??
or was that the tell tale heart
good stuff!
tell-tale heart was about the guy who buried a body under his house
hey, i'm just repeating what i heard on a nationally televised program
which one was the one where the guy was walled up?
[thump, thump]
Amantillado??? he guy gets bricked up.
cask of amontillado (sp?)
well helen you are making an assumption that TV (or MSM) are right ...
*the
that was it gail!
She wasn't, andy, LOL.
miranda that was *great* story
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amontilla do
the man was ON something, for sure.
well sprite I am puzzled - hell MSM and be right??? that must be an oxymoron
or just clincially depressed..
mirandapan - that's the one i'm thinking of
i still have a book of Poe stories from waaay back when i was in high school.
yes--one of my favs
man, the grid is really going slow for me! words not easily forthcoming...
True, andy. I just meant that helen said she quoted from that, not that she thought it was therefore true :)
andy - oh no, i would never assume anything like that, actually i assume the opposite - i was beign sarcastic
hey I have a complete book of all EAPs' worsk - leather bound - bought it in his museum in Philly cca 1996 or so
I just googled Poe and according to Wikkipedia Poe's death is of undetermined nature; attributed to alcohol, drugs, cholera and unknown agents (LSD, perhaps)...
helen welcome to the club - stopped watching TV 15 yeas ago (ok except for hockey and football) LOL
well, the first two alone would do it!
chis same with Ernest Hemingway no??
i bet EAP was a don't bee !
alcohol and drugs, that is.
Looks like the best stories come from troubled souls, lol.
Hemingway put a shotgun in his mouth I thought...
lol, helen.
chic - yep, that's right
Chic--he did
i remember entering a contest a decade ago (pre-google) where you had to match the author, date of death, and method of suicide
of course sprite - Franz Kafka anyone??? George Orwell??
oh good I don't have to google that...
well chic yes that is one of the stories
but then- i don't think hemingway ever told any particularily good stories - in my opinion, he's one of the most over-rated writers ever
Kafka, Orwell, all wellknown stuff.
helen, i have to agree
Helen: "Hills Like White elephants"? I think it's his masterpiece
i liked huxley. aldous huxley.
krys - now where would a person find a contest like that? local bar?
bookstore, actually
helen - moving feast is IMO really great
on haight street in SF
'the Sun Also Rises' is my favorite....
isn't there a "bad hemingway" writing contest?
now huxley did take LSD....
And "A Clean Well-Lighted Place" Not to mention the Nick stories
yes sprite bit hot exactly *popular* - or shall we go see Milan Kundera??
i never read moveable feast
well speaking of SF - how about PO Bronson ??
Actually I am an upbeat kinda girl, lol. If it gets too dark, and there is no light at the end of the tunnel, I am out.
helen - worth reading if you have time
well sprite yeah - bt still I think it behooves us to be aware of the dark stuff
you knlwthe old saying - be close to your friends - and even closer to your enemies...
seriously andy? you think it will sway my opinion of him?
I agree, andy, I did not mean ignore the black side... but I don't want to revel in it.
well don't know helen - can't speak of other people opinions
hey Anthony Burgess anyone - speaking of *dark* stuff
Or very dark with a smile... Roald Dahl :)
sprite - agree - yoou don;t need to *revel* in it - as long as you know / are aware of it nicht wahr??
Sylvia Plath now that's some dark stuff!
i love roald dahl! and edward gorey
That's it, andy.
Oh yes Krys!
roald dahl - kon-tiki?
*love* roald dahl Krys - read him whan I was 10 or so - got both Charlie in the Chocolate Factory movies btw
speaking of dark: anybody familiar with Diane Arbus?
yeah, i've got those as well.. although my favorite is matilda, i think
I really really love the Dahl version of the birth of Hitler. That is so brilliantly written.
Yes--her photos
sprite - is the "The Gremlins"??
Special man, that Roald Dahl, to be able to write both for kids and adults.
yes. once saw an exhibition of her stuff at the walker in mpls. was VERY weird.
No, it is a story of a woman who is giving birth, and her bully of a husband who keeps telling her that the child won't live, that it is too fragile, etc.
She was a WPA photographer, during the depression, right?
seen a few photos but that is all -re: Diane Arbus
very strange stuff, andy. but has some sort of attraction.
k sprite - so what is the name of the story re: Herr Schickelgruber's birth?? would really like to read it as WW2 history is my hobby
another "artist" who comitted suicide
gail -is it noit true that things "weird" or "strange" are "attractive"
rise and fall of the third reich has info about schicklegruber
I would have to look it up, andy, will have to get back to you on that. The brilliance of the story is that you really feel for the woman, you want the kid to live, you really urge them on. And then the final sentence is that the doctor tells the mother: "He will be fine, Frau Hitler."
yeah 2m I read like 6 books - Russian, German, America, British - not the one you mentioned though - what is the ISBN?
wow - i got ANOTHER word - yay !!!
miranda, i think her work was later... 50s, 60s
That is a very abrupt change of perspective, andy, lol.
all i have left on this grid is 2 fo's
hmm sprite take your time
yay hk!
i don't now the ISBN, it's an old classic, tho
Oh---I just remember a photo of a woman--children in the background--a shack. I'm thinking of someone else.
2m, starts like enemy, ends like mr. lennon, fo5/18 and fo6 (plural)
william shirer is the auther, a WWII correspondent
true, andy... the "noir" has an attraction
got an early tee time tomorrow, so I'm off for tonight :)
i'm just guessing that's what you'
miranda, maybe not.
i'm just guessing that's what you're missing 2m
sprite - and others - *perspective* IMO is an art of collecting miscelaneous (and often conflicting) data points and extrapolating one's veiew - assuming that oncew can *justify and defend* his/her selection - Alexander Werth comes to mind
Andy, google is my friend. It is in the book "Kiss kiss" and the story is "Genesis and catastrophe"
yes, fran, thanks so much. i'll work on that clue :)
thks franmag
nite cybernan
wowza, sprite. good job!
yw krys!
I love google. I really do :)
Diane Arbus--those strange little twin girls. I can't think of the Depression photographer, to
thanks, fran. fireworks
yay 2m!!
wtg 2m !!!!!!
yay 2m\11
mirand, dorothy someone?
her stuff did look like from the depression... was all black and white and of folks who were ... on the fringes of society.
dinner is ready, talk to you all later!
bye fran
bye fran
Yes! Dorothy who????
bye fran
dinner? it's almost 1:30 a.m.
dorothea lange?
sprite - just asie - pls don't rely on Page/Brin too mcuh (founders of Google). I often use www.ask.com or even www.yahoo.com search to get a better pic- and for recent stuff - where Google is useless - www.technorati.com
something like that
Dorothea Lange
i'm fading fast, here. i think i'm going to shut down this infernal mosheen and stick my nose in a book for a while. catch you all another time.
i'm gonna hit the hay. night, all
good nite gail, 2m :)
Dorothea Lange, Yes. Thanks.
night 2m and gail
2m good night - guess you meant The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich right??
night gail
andy, it depends on what you use it for. If you want to know which story of RD is about the birth of Hitler and you want to know in which book it is, google is a friend.
what does the 7 begin with pls
Seeing how I just am blind to it, it is probably a K, MVA :)
lol!
it begins with a c. all the c words are related to being sick
ty krys
K's are your friend, sprite :)
thanks Krys
yup sprite - their page ranking algorith is well known - what is less know though (ping me for links) is Google's arbitrary "link selection" - i.e. there were sites (People's Cube for example) that were most likely deliberately purged by Google. Hence my backup search engines.
Krys, you are about the only K who is a friend for me!
I started a blog a few months ago and it has been totally mysterious to me how to get google to find it - I am getting some hits from there, so I know some people are finding me randomly, but no combination of keywords I can think of will pull me up.
I have a friend who does extensive research on search engines, and another one who wrote a book about it. So I know, and I shamelessly use google still!
(sprite - potassium is your friend too - also K - I've been studying for my chem test tomorrow :) )
haven't the time for any more, happy babbling!
see you, MVA!
later mva!
Bye MVA! Krys, well, okay, wouldn't want to do without potassium either.
i'm eating in front of the computer! hi again.
good 4 u sprite - Krys ping me for Page/Brin dissertation-) - will staill shamelessly claim that you can't hev one source for info (hey ask Herr. Goebbels)
bye mva
On a side note: this grid is SLOW!
good 4 u Fran - the worst comes to happen you only need to replace keyboard :)
it is a slow grid! andy thanks! how do I ping you? or click on my profile - has a link to the blog which has my email address
That is, if you don't have a laptop, andy ;)
not really andy, it's a laptop!
well yeah what? I have like 6 computers and 2 laptops - still don't get the question??
ahh now i get it sorry
oh andy, you are in the grid! Alt. spelling though :)_
Fran - you can always use keyboard cleanijng whipes -Best Buy, Circuit City, edtc all sell them
I am honoured sprite :-)
i am noodling some truly ridiculous combinations of letters
Krys - andy12489@yahoo.com
thanks andy! probably won't work so well for tomato sauce
I gues it will - it is alcohol based (ethanol)( and works fine - at least as measured by myself
Am not even halfway and already using a very creative mind to think up absurd words. This bodes ill.
i have just over half and it is very slow!
sprite only have 32 words and quit grd to dedicate myself to chat :-) plus gotta go as I have a meeting in lime 7 hours - good night all
*hugs* andy!
night andy!
good night andy! i'll get in touch about the article
Hi all - it is slow tonite. I've got 47 but think it'll need luck to find more
good nite andy :)
hi angb!
hiya ang
Just waiting for 7pm and might go to QP for some light relief!
hey angb. We should get together. I need those 47 of yours to finish!
Hah they're mostly 4 letter words LOL. The ones that jump out at you!
I am still 27 4-words short!
B..... (and that's not a clue)
i only have 18 words left but it is like pulling teeth tonight!
i still need 20 4-letter words
I keep on seeing begonia - go away flower! But there is another - one of my favourites.
debb! you still here? you are in the grid and you're a word!
cheers for that fran
yw ang!
hello all - haven't even started yet - back from an evening of duplicate bridge
hi jilli!
duplicate bridge?
That's sounds complicated jilli
copying a game that was already played?
wow jilli! Smart as ever... and you will need it, this is a slowwwww grid.
more or less, krys
I;ve broken 50 ... boys have got so hungry they
making their own dinner
not entirely a bad thing..
I gather from the log that this is a bit of a brute
lol ang! that's it, make them self-sufficient!
well, I don't know, is it?
It's one thing you can count on men doing ... housework no .... food if you leave them long enough
i mean, is it a bad thing that angb's sons are making their own dinner? I know this grid is a brute!
That's what a real good parent does: make him/herself redundant!
"moving into a consultant role"
It is a good thing, Krys.
Hi all, does look like a short but tough one !
They are 6 and 8 years old ... but amazingly their father has moved
hi flosey!
Hi flosey
flosey was a duplicate bridge too...
*at
Am off to bed now tho' may have a look in the morning - have to leave by 11:
yes jilli - we just finished scoring
hello everyone!
okay flosey! see you later
hi mrp!
for sure, g'nite all
bye flosey! Hi Mrp!
looks like a nice eas... ah no.. there are C & F words
not easy mrp!
sorry, tried to change my icon, had a great pic but lost it and couldn't find the source second time
it's a nasty one, Mr. P. Even sprite, champion of all words, says so
well, I shouldn't put words in her mouth - she agreed it's a slow grid :)
sprite said "This sucks!" :)
Lol Krys, don't know about the champ thing, but I am certain about this grid being nasty!
oh! hi sprite :D
I did not, mrP! *hugs*
finally at 50 words!
I tried Beorn, Ceorn... names from The Book ;)
like oxygen, the letter T is something I never appreciate enough until I'm not getting any!
True, true, all too true Krys!
no kidding krys!
And knowing the babble gods, tomorrow's grid will have 6 Ts, probably.
and 500 words when it's my library day
that language just isn't 'you' sprite... you would never say that!... however if there were a K in here! Watch out!
we had a discussion about K's earlier.. sprite agrees that some K's do come in handy :)
I'd never say it sucks. But it s*cks would be appropriate for a 3 K grid.
ooh, but then you could have words like "kick" and "knack"! I love K's!
phantom (thank goodness!) - bush
Sprite just said 'sucks'... hehehe *hugs*
also smush
I did not exactly say that, Krys! I do appreciate some Ks... like you. But handy... no, I would have found a way to do without, I am certain!
and potassium? you agreed potassium was handy...
Wish he were, jilli, wish he were.
<---- advocate and defender of K's worldwide
True, I said I did not want to do without potassium.
One day, we will have a grid that spells popokatepetl... and it will be a phantom!
I have 29 words left ... usually I would be celebrating, why not tonite?
Celebrate, Angb! To celebrate is the first step. After that, start thinking up a reason for it :)
Sounds like quantum physics to me. Think and it will happen ... hey right!
would shogun have been valid if it had not been a phantom?
phantom: cuneiform
yes sprite
Should be - it's a position like king
okay - i just got ug4/8 & with 20 to go, i think that's a good note to callit a night on!
my favourite word! un4/6.
ok, wasn't sure if it were capitalized or not.
night helen!
hi and bye helen!
LOL, very native american U4!
thanks for that hk!
hiya mrp ! & good nite too
fran - doesn't that word do a great job describing this grid -hahaha
night helen!
Thanks hk now for the last "u"
yes it does helen!
nite all :)
U6/33: what you don't like
mrp - I like that little old un4/6 too
Got that one first! LOl
Got the last one another grey box
LOL
hk - my goodnight to you ended up in the Add Word box
fireworks! bedtime for me - big chemistry test tomorrow. thanks to you all for keeping me company
sprite is the u6 a un?
If your G4/8 B5/16, you should brush your teeth better.
Fran: yes.
YAY krys10
thanks sprite
wd krys
yay krys!!!
or don't brush them so hard
WOW Krys! Well done!
And good luck with the test, you'll do great, I know.
great double clue, sprite!!!
Oh, with that G4 you can make B5/22 - 6/36 and D5/20 - 6/33!
thanks sprite!
Didn't have be b's thnx sprite
finally got that last U! thanks again sprite!
If we ever talked to this grid, do you think we would understand it? Or have I had a glass of wine too many?
Still 11 to go, and it is before breakfast, and I can't even have wine to help the brain going! Angb... I am not in a talking mood. Can I kick the grid?
Sure - may work?
found two s4s that are not common, type of wrestling for "big" men and a yiddish word for stupid or obnoxious person
thanks for those g4 extensions, sprite!
hmz... I think it did. Found a very latinlooking combo G4/8 - 5/18 and it has an N-pair as well.
Got the big men one ... but not up on Yiddish
what is wrong with the N's today!?? they are asking for a beating!
sh + one of the three stooges ang.
Thanks jilli, that yiddish word I overlooked! Has been in many grids, Angb.
No4/5 rhymes with an A and a G.
Sprite - don't think I've ever found it before. Haha
sprite, the G's are asking for a beating too!
If you found the latinlooking N combo, try turning it into G :)
lol Angb. Sure you have.
*another* small grid!
Ata *hug* Watch out, looks can be verrrrry deceiving.
uhoh!
hi ata!
For me this is a very slowgoing grid. I still need an S, B, O and R.
I can make bros of that. Won't take.
that's borsing?
have you got the boy name Be*?? plural
Warner Bros
urf .... if its slow-going for you .......
got those latin looking ones, what strange words!
Thanks mrP, that was the one!
Fran: thanks to my monkey I found them :)
your monkey knows more languages than all of us combined i think
My monkey is a very stubborn little thing. Just keeps typing until something takes. Pyrokinetics, with special thanks to you all you guys and my monkey!
yay sprite!!!!
good going sprite!
yay sprite!
good morning everybody:)
YAY spritey!!!!
Morning jean! Any clues needed, dear gang?
hi jean
can someone tell me the second letter of the 7?
hi jean!
Co7/52, Fran. And keep your hand before your mouth.
great! thanks sprite!
that was three words in one clue for me, thanks!
yw :)
mrP, what's with your icon? There is something beneath limecat!
oh it didn't change?? It is from the south park icon day
i see your regular lime cat mrp.
Good morning folks! Another short grid. I've changed my icon for today's theme - and my profile to illustrate. Have fun.
hi matty!
Ah, I can fix the cat by refresh :) Matty, it is not really a short grid, lol.
morning matty:)
hi matty!
hi everyone
hi saphyre
hi matty - hi saphyre
cool icon, saphyre!
hi saphyre:)
thanks :)
hi saphy
cool matty! what is he saying in the cartoon?
"That's right, the upper case button works on-screen, but they're not coming out on the dang printer! Hold? Sure, I'll hold.
more for that phantom - now found 'bush begone'
that's not finding words, jilli. That's wishful thinking.
LOL Sprite!
*sigh*
that is so funny matty! love it.
I hate having to pay the bills, I am always nervous, even if I know there is enough money... but I HAVE to pay the bills now. Can I help out with clues before I split and get to it?
he 4 7 eludes me ---- help needed please
phantom: frenum
It's a plant Grim
I've found a grand total of TWO words today.
Grim: he + form of verb 'is'
grim, the one i have sounds like a racial slur, but it's part of a plant
angb -- thanks
wow matty! wtg! you're almost done then!
thanks all
gooo matty!
sprite, I wouldn't know where to start, asking for clues - I need so many!
lol this is funny, I was looking at my he*** in my garden yesterday and wondering when that word would appear in babble again
Ata, please don't do that anymore? It took me ages to find it! LOL
So what exactly were you looking at Ata?
Do you all have the scot's form of 'drain land' Su4/8 - 6/33?
just my he**. its a type of plant. a pretty boring plant though
actually I already thought he4 boring, Ata
They are beautiful in bloom though - those lovely purple colours
thanks sprite, needed those!
i have 12 left, but hubby wants to go on line. see you all later!
Yeah, I thought I'd clue something I had trouble finding, lol.
bye Fran
bye Fran!
right have to go very busy day have a good day everybody:)
bye fran
Sprite - you are lovely!
bye jean!
*points to my new pic for he**
M4/6 pouting grimace - another one I have been searching hard for.
Angb, how sweet of you to say so :)
oh, I was wondering about that one yesterday as well :P
Have you the fi 5/22?
LOL - not!
Is it an evergreen, Ata?
Hey y'all. Can someone clue me on the he5,18. It's driving me nuts.
yes it is
I'd he 5/18 my bets on that one mkl
I still don't know what those flowers are. To me, things are plants (green) or flowers (coloured)
Angb: think tiny irritating insect that has aspirations to become a vampire when it grows up, drop last letter, change first one.
mkl: what you can use to mark the boundaries of your garden, if you don't like a fence.
Thanks. I KNEW it was a piece of cake. But I just couldn't see it. :-)
same here really matty. I first knw the name from greek mythology, if that helps
That's how I will remember the word, Ata. Much easier than the plant!
Cheers sprite. I had it, and asked the wrong question ... LOL
Lol! Okay, I am off then, wish me luck.
Anyone have the be5 words?
good luck!!
I'm down to eight, anyone need a clue?
mkl: good B5 is half won. Change last letter for the other one and related 6.
half won? Or half done? Now I am not sure anymore, but I guess it doesn't matter?
Still don't know what that dratted plant is. Ah well.
matty: he + the verb that 'is' stems from.
look up goddess of youth in greek mythology ...
Thanks ata!
Or add that lovely Shakespeare "to .. or not to ..." to it matty
Thanks sprite
hi all
*poof*

un 6/33 add a prefix to fo 4/8 chj
ne 5,16. If you watched Star Trek Deep Space 9. Ruler of all Ferngis. The Grand Ne***
perfect clue mkl!
im sure i ried that but now it is acce[pted
has any one had good words rejected only to have them accepted on second entry?
sorry mki...i stopped after TNG
Most of the time, it's because I spelled it wrong the first time.
yep
Night all
it can happen if you inadvertently have a space before you start the word
i used to think that but tonight i was careful to observe and it definitely rejected some good words and accepted then when i reentered
night mkt

Well, almost halfway, but have the dreaded weekly shop to do so see you all later. Happy Babbling!
well, over half way and sleepy - night all!
bye denny
Good morning all. I'd be rubbish as a psychic. I had a 'feeling' that it would be a big grid today. Ah well.
Morning Haz It may not be a big grid but it is very very hard, or at least I am finding it so.
morning!
morning!
The words I've found so far could be an advertisement for the meat industry - f4/8, be4/9. Vegetarians should look away!
Good morning Atalante!
Hi Ata
I am not seeing words, didn't have the f4/8 thanks Haz
its a tricksy one today
They're not exactly flowing from me either!
Tricksy!! tricksy!! it's diabolical, well OK that might be a slight exageration : )
(Do I detect a note of slight hysteria with FMitch?)
*deep breathing* and exhale. I'm OK honest.
I'm making real progress here - 3 boxes grayed. Okay, so they only had 1 word each, but still.....
The c's are good, find 1 and you get all 3
I felt very sm4/8 when I found them
morning folks..
only 86 today..
You want sm4/8? I found fe4/8 without prompting. And that French money didn't escape either ec4/6.
Morning philod. LOL Haz
Good morning philod - yes, just 86.
Arthur of antiques fame is back in the grid.
The dear man. The complete antithesis of cheap as chips man.
awwww there is a snow leopard in the grid!
oh! what's the 1st letter please Ata.
o!
(its also the word for a measurement of weight)
I have that one and didn't realise there was an alt meaning.
yup - it crops up in crosswords sometimes, usually cryptic ones
that o word was a lovely twisty one to find.
And this from the woman who was declaring the grid to be diabolical. A few deep breaths seems to have worked wonders....
yes! I love twisty words
Ha Ha!!
Have we spotted the Japanese wrestler?
hi again everybody!
Hello FranMag!
hi haz! have you spotted the obnoxious yiddish guy?
we have now!
Hi Fran
I don't think so, FranMag. Does he wear a strange outfit as well?
hmm, don't think so haz, s4 word
sh4/6 to be more specific.
There is a good mu 4 & 6 combo. The command given to get sled dogs moving.
I go looking FranMag, thanks.
finally found the e from the top!
And happiness was the result!
very clever haz!
I've found the objectionable man. He is a particular type (ge5/16)
thanks haz! needed that g!
You're welcome!
I keep wanting guano
They might sell it at Tescos in the finest range?
i keep wanting gorhen to be in a grid again, this has been the closest.
It's one of those grids where you run out of letters for perfectly good words.
what sort of objectionable is this man?
ata, it also means stupid as well as obnoxious.
sounds like one of the three stooges
Mornin' Y'all
hi odin!
Good morning Odin.
Hey Odin
Hey Fran
Mornin' FMitch and all
lol was looking for the ge word and came across go5/16 instead LOL
Morning everyone!
Mornin' Becca
hi becca!
Small grid today - may have some hope of finishing!
ata, the objectionable man is sh4/6, the ge is a different one
(Quiet sniggering from those who have started)
Got the sm4 but not Haz's ge5 however did find another 3 g words whilst looking Hi Becca
small, but feisty becca!
ge5 is the latin term for type - there's also latin for burden/word (on4/5)
work not word!
And not work either - this grid has addled my brain.
aha! got them :)
thanks haz! that was the last O i've been trying to find
if anyone is stuck on FOs, there are two weird ones, start with enemy and end like mr. lennon, fo5/18 and plural for fo6.
FMItch - feeling even more sm4/8 now that I have found its mouthy anagram
haz, look for d and b words that work with the mouthy one.
FranMag - I had been trying to make that word and feeling the lack of one letter. I hadn't looked up.
Haz hu4/7 a sm4/8 tune
Good one Haz - you can take that word and build some b and d words from it
I am fo4/8 of a good hu*.
This grid is getting better.
the fo5 is one of those awful babble words that i determined to remember, it finally showed its face again
Ok I may have to retract my former statement about maybe finishing, this is a tough grid!
like i said becca, small, but feisty
finally finished *phew* was abit nasty!
Small, but with French fires within.
yay mrp!!
Hooray for mrp!!!
Haven't found any fish today but have just found an amphibian. Congrats MrP
Congratulations mrpresident!
TY Haz
thanks guys
do4/5 is a European dung beetle.
haz, i thought you wrote french "fries"!
No, low fat food is all that's served here!
and finally found the "fires"
THat's not true Haz with gh4/7 as an ingredient
You're right!
at least it's been clarified.
HI guy's I'm new here can you tell me what you mean 4/5 etc
LOL Fran!
LOL Fran very witty
smudge, there is a link to "angelsong's babble page" below, everything is explained there.
:-)
My phantom today is 'ouch'!
nice icon frannie
there's another 'exclamation' word...one of disgust instead of pain.
thanks nut! how did i know you would like eap?
who me?
because i'm a little sick and a little twisted?
no nut! in the grid! :-)
Thanks for that
phew!
I cannot believe that ug4/8 is a real word! :)
Fran could you give us more info on the disgusted word - I#m not getting it!
Good day to you all. Nice small grid again. I have to go out soon, but I will be back after lunch
Oh we've swallowed more unlikely words than that! We've been saying ug4/8 all morning about this grid.
nice small grid! ha ha!
Oh, I've got the ug now!
Good morning ExWren. There are no re words. Just your sort of brid.
Hi ExWren small grid yes, nice questionable!!
grid.
Haz I worried about you I think you are catching my typing bug!!
Hi ExWren - I agree with FMitch - small but not nice :0(
I know - it's a case of the gingers not doing as they are bold.
I can see lots of three letter words!
That doesn't cut it, ExWren!
Why can't I have fogee - I know lots of fogees!
becca, sorry, computer wouldn't let me type! ug4/8....plural of a sound of disgust.
and i see you got it already too! :-)
Thanks Fran, I got it eventually. There are lots of strange words in the grid today, huh?
sure are becca
there was an interesting show on A&e the other night about ro5 waves. really fascinating stuff.
thanks again Fran good clue
you're welcome fmitch!
Found one of the big guys that travel with a pop group ro6/21
Just found the same myself, FMitch!
Ok I've made it to 35, I'm going in for the list
Do you have the innocent na4/7?
i have 8 words left, all 4s and 5s!! you'd think that would be easy.
You're nearly there, FranMag!
I do Haz, stumbled over that one earlier
Hi Guys, how's everyone?
hi jaiel!
Hi Fran :))
Hi jaiel!
Good morning - we're a little shell-shocked with this grid...
Hello Becca
Morn Haz, I'm a bit shocked as well with this one...
It's a toughie today jaiel
Anyone willing to help with un6?
FMitch was hysterical earlier on, but she has calmed down now.
i must have missed that haz! did you have to sedate her?
lol
No, deep breaths seems to have done the trick.
Cup of sweet tea always works for hysteria!
Yes, but then FMitch is into drinking champagne at breackfas time.
well that's good
Ah, well that's also good for hysteria - but usually causes it rather than cures it!
Once a year on her birthday, but still......
I am still here you know LOL Whatever I did it worked cos I'm at 75 words found. In my defence that was Sunday lunchtime and it was my birthday!!!!!!!
75 words! You're doing well!
happy belated birthday FMitch!
lol fmitch, i was wondering how long you were going to let haz go on!!
happy Birthday for last Sunday FMitch!
Thanks jaiel and Becca.
phantom: fedora
happy belated birthday fmitch!
It's my birthday tomorrow too!
Just a pity that the greek god of love didn't turn up on Sunday for a return visit to FMitch. That would have made the day perfect.
happy early birthday becca!
Thanks Fran :0)
whoo hoo Becca happy bday!
If anyone wants to give me an early b'day pressie - clue for the ad would be great!!
Another Virgo - Happy Birthday Becca
becca, maybe you'll have a cake ad***ed with candy flowers.
Becca - when you really cherish someone it ends with an e, when you dress something with care, almost ritually, then it ends in 'n'
TY Fran - I'll save a piece for you!
Haz I am still waiting for you to return him to me!
And some for you too jaiel
He's here and he's staying!
thanks Becca... did you get it?
Yes, got it
becca, just slip a piece in the disk drive, it will get here!
good :)
anyone have the su6?
It will be a little mu6/30 but no matter!
i've got three words left and they're killing me...
LOL Fran. Might be a bit squashed when you get it though
jaiel, sprite said they're welsh, past tense of the su4/8
or some other language that i don't know!!
hmmm... thanks fran... monkeys charged and ready to fire
Scots
yeah, thanks!
cool jaiel!
thanks fmitch, couldn't remember that
now for the un6 and the ne5/16 and I'm finished :)
Just looked up the definition - we use that word over here for ditches, but it's pronounced differently to how it looks.
jaiel, un6 is not to your liking
i need that ne5/16 also
ne5/16 - add a shortened version of a man's name, as in Augustus, Augustin or Angus
ty Fran, lets see....
thanks haz!
hi everyone, he4,7 has me stumped
un6, i'm un**** of short, difficult grids
yeah, thanks Haz!
he4/7 - a gardening term for a plant (veronica?)
Good clue Haz
hi penny! it's a plant, but it sounds like a racial slur.
thanks, haz
no wonder I can't find it
he plus the infinitive form of Iam, you are.
yipee, thanks so much Fran, Haz... Finished! :)))
anyone need clues?
Well done jaiel!
yay jaiel!!!
WTG jaiel!!!
We need therapy!
thanks much *sends kisses around the room
Clues for co's would be great
becca, a hacking co*** and two more forms of it
they're all from the same root - when I have a cold, I sneeze and co***
Never mind - just call me stupid for not seeing them sooner!
got it finally, thanks for all the clues
fran, it was your birthday last week? Happy belated birthday
wtg Pappou
should I sing you one of my kinder songs, LOL
not me penny, fmitch
oh, sorry, happy birthday fmitch
you can sing a song anyway penny!
Yeah, sing us a song PappouTed!
LOL, maybe later, still a bit early and I have 25 words to find. Well ok, one verse of our morning song
Thank you Pappou. Time for me to leave all you happy babblers, must run some errands. Back in a bit
Mercy me, I've just found an fi5/22 - one letter short of being unable to sit still.
bye fmitch!
Rise and Shine and welcome to school today, I mean babble today. We're so glad you're here, LOL
Bye Fmitch, SYL
darn, i have that already haz!
yay penny!
Bye Fmitch - have a good day.
I have 20 left to find, so the chances are that I'll not be able t ocome up with anything new for you FranMag!
but you have haz!
you all reminded me to take my cd player to school today, my died yesterday as humpty dumpty was having his great fall
until that one! :-)
What letters are you missing?
the 1 from the bottom e is driving me mad, do you have that one?
ec4/6 - it's an old-fashioned French monetary unit
thanks haz!
(That was a lucky one!)
haz, that ge5 can be truncated for another word
fireworks! Time to go to work
Have a great day, friends
yay penny!
Thanks! I didn't think to do that.
see you later!
Fran - there's another French word, a pouting mo4/6. Like a rodent, minus a consonant.
thanks haz, got that one
i'm down to b, f, d and h
2 4s and 2 5s
be4/6 - plural Mr Disraeli or Mr Britten.
got that one
they are probably fish-slap worthy ones!
Okay - so you do have the meat product, the past tense, or the haemorrhage?
all those haz
There's the past tense of starting and the past tense of existing.
past tense?
ooohh, nv
meant to say never mind! :-)
oh thanks haz! it was the past tense of starting
Good!
The h words are all normal. The plant, the plant as a barrier, a part of the foot, an enormous amount and a singing without words.
Sorry has - yoru starting and existing - are those Bs? I've come in half way through.
Yes - the existing is the past participle.
i was missing plant barrier haz, thanks again!!
You're getting closer!
OK, I have the meat, the past tense of existing, the past tense of starting, the Disraelis and the haemmoraging. What am I missing?
the last two are 4s, i should be able to find those
be5/22 and be6/36 encompass the mouth related gu4/8
be + chiclets
and de5/20 is to remove chiclets!
Okay - time for me to depart. Congratulations in anticipation FranMag.
bye, haz!
Fireworks for me and off to work. Hope everyone has a great day.
congrats, odin!
Congrats Odin!
TY All
I just have 2 ge's to find, but they're being difficult
Yay, Fireworks!!

hello all
What are the benefits of upgrading to pro?
you can have a flag! plus you will lose the Tile Stats after 2 weeks freebie. And it is such a very small amount to pay and a once off payment (and we like to thank Dr God for making it all possible). And you get Fireworks if you finish a game!
cool...thanks!
You can also create a bio on your profile, as well as add an icon.

fromone of my favorite poet's (anything to stop the pirates!). Have to do this in pieces:
arrrgh maties...check out my poet
arrrrgh maties...check out my poet
If I die, survive me with such a pure force you make the pallor and the coldness rage; flash your indelible eyes from south to south, from sun to sun, till your mouth sings like a guitar.
I don't want your laugh or your footsteps to waver; I don't want my legacy of happiness to die; don't call to my breast: I'm not there. Live in my absence as in a house.
Absence is such a large house that you'll walk through the walls, hang pictures in sheer air.
Absence is such a transparent house that even being dead I will see you there, and if you suffer, Love, I'll die a second time.
very odd to see the poem backwards
Oh, I love your cat, Eva! Is it yours?
Eva, who is the poet?
That is very moving Eva, who is the poet?
Yes Hydra-that's his royal higness, Merp, himself.
that is beautiful eva
Sorry, came in in the middle of this poem. Must read it all.
FMitch the poet is Pablo Neruda. It's from a wonderful book which is called 100 Love Sonnets and is in spanish on one side and english on the other

BRB. Switching sites to see if I can find a cheap computer to call my own.
argh! what makes ye think we aint talkin like pirates, matey?!
oh, but it is, !!! - we've just gotten too involved in the grid to be piratical!
NO!@!!!!!!!!!!
WalMart, e-machines, $500.00.
oh...arrrggg.
My husband wore an eyepatch to work today.... I married a 12 yr. old. (not literally)
gypsies are way cooler than pirates
totally.
how do gypsies talk???
well, they oopen their mouths and sounds come out
kewl
hi again a;; :)
okay you scurvy bilge rats! wahts the scuttlebutt today?
LOL, I wasn't gonna say it.
all!
gypsies are a protected minority in Europe, we may run into trouble imitating them
:P
we could admire their talents...playing lute, dancing, tinkering
or is there an orgaisation protecting pirates???
psssh. i will play csardas by monti and we will dance!
pirates are known for...raping, pillaging, being scallywags
partay!
What buzzes and is all done?
most prominently they are noticed in Europe for sending their kids to beg...from Americasn
...a timer...
afternoon all :)how many today?
86
a grey B - no?
cheers bunny :)
i don't mind begging
...and it's not nice to call them gypsies. For me 'gypsies' are the people in stories who ride around in painted wagons and tell fortunes, the ethnicity is Sinti & Roma
no, arggg bunny, I think we were talking about having a brit day later.
oh man sorry.
OK have to prepare this afternoon's classes. BBL !!!ifyou have ever been in Germany, you will hate those little beggars
I live in Germany, Inge. They don't bother me.
hm...I didn't know gypsy was pejorative...
You dont look like a tourist either
i just like their music. but i will shut up.
where do you live?
bye inge tc
True, I don't. I live in Hamburg. I'm not really sure about the english political correctness with respect to 'gypsies', in German it's a bad word unless you're talking about the story-book people
well that is good to know...even though I've never been to germany...but might go someday :)
we have gypsies / romanies => true ethnic gypsies, and then travellers for "gypsies". if that makes sense
I don't think there is a correctness. Don't quote me though. They are more of a story book character to me, think Hunchback of Notre Dame.
we lived in Freiburg for a year most recently (1991-2) and these kids were excused from school to learn the customs of their elders!!!
Isn't that like a religious holiday?
I remember going on a field trip like that, to a working farm...
off to write work pages *poof*
hi Ata! I thought it was something like that. I'm not sure if it's an issue in the States because there's not a community like there is in most European countries
we have a different kind of "gypsy" - the native americans...their culture is protected by the ogvernement too
any help finding my 4 missing 6'es? i have: CO6 FO6 GU6 MU6 UN6
be 6/36
I thought the Roma people get more annoyed if people call travellers proper gypsies, or assume Roma people are just itinerant travellers
de 6/33
I *think* even!
these both ahppen to rhyme - be + chewing or bubble ***, same with the de
irishtravellers are the worst kind!!
su6/33
ro6/21
I wondered when the subject of Irish travellers would come up.......
they can't be worse than americans (no offense to the americans in the room who are intelligent beautiful people)
lol u not are u haz??
I guess I'm not very opinionated... I don't have any experience with these subjects though.
Yes, I come from a long line of travellers.....
What's wrong with Americans?
no offence meant,,,,but the ones that were on the estate not far from me were the pits
we suck
theres nothing wrong with americans
we're lazy and dum
:D
they stole from us an beat up some boys pretty badly
ignorant, i shoudl say
We had a group of travellers camp out near us once. They left people alonhe, but they left the site a mess. It had to be decontamenated.
Oh, I am not offended in the slightest marso. They have caused a lot of problems and don't seem to realise what a nuisance they can be.
so...the Mets finally clinched their division this year...
*alone
I think that's fascinating Haz. I have the feeling we're getting into dangerous territory though.
!!!, spelt dumB, lol
it would just be nice, when visiting another country, if you would, you know, not assume we have statues of george bush and bill clinton on our legislature lawns
ahh, back from school and having a nice chat with the principal
amanda - I was only joking about being descended from travellers!
i don't include those dum letters that make no sounds. bush rulez lolol
hi klaurel
'travellers' is not the same as tourists, raelite
LOL, I've never been out of country.
No Bush talk either
oh - well, it still would be fascinating, I guess.
oh you should come up north! we are so nice and friendly :)
yeah
let's just be pirates
u need to bunny lolol sorry only jokin
But it seems perfectly reasonable to me for EVERYONE to erect statues of Bush in their yards and parking lots...
I warn you the shopping sucks...
ne5/16 please
pidgeaon need homes to.
what was up with the principal, klaurel?
I should have been clearer, I meant Bush #1, not the current Mr President
I got my favourite possession in Canada!
missing one more 6, i have: CO6 DE6 FO6 GU6 MU6 RO6 SU6 UN6
oh, there is a bully on my son's bus and he came home with red marks on his face where she hit him
what is it ata? your husband?
ne5/16 - add a shortened version of a man's name, as in Augustus.
pab - the Ferengi Grand Ne***
oh no!
thanks Haz and amandacath
Eva, the be 6
be6 is almost exactly like de6 :)
I took pictures and emailed them out to the superintendents office, the principal. and my lawyer
wow klaurel...your poor son...is he ok?
laurel, bullies should not be tolerated
no way *grins* its a huge cuddly toy polar bear, so soft and fluffy, he sits on my bed every day :)
he is fine. But I asked why he didn't hit her back since he is a blue belt and knows self-defense and he said he was too scared
thanks twisty. :)
laurel, good for you
be6/36
I know what it's like to be bullied on the bus...when I was a kid some jackass lit my hair on fire
that's terrible klaurel
OUCH!
bless him!!!!
16 words to find -- 2 5's and 14 4's!
the problem is that she is very big, mean, and has a reputation for not being afraid of the teachers and the powers that be at the school
and she was this bad on the bus last year and she was never even disciplined, whch doesn't help
can they not kick her out of the school?
laurel, then this child needs help
i know they do here
OUCH! RAE! I hopeyour parents pressed charges
Can they make her sit directly behind the driver on the bus. I think hr parents need some rearing lessons as well.
Marso, I wish, rumor has it (and this is NOT a racist remark) that when her mother was pulled into school she said "Sorry, there is nothing I can do. She has a problem with white people"
they HAVE her sitting in front, which makes it hard for my son since he was sitting there away from the other 5th grade bullies
no, they did not press charges. I believe that karma will take it's own reward.
What a mother!
OMG that is disgusting
she'll get it all back one of these days - unfortunately that doesn't help the kids who she's beating up now...
klaurel, file criminal charges. scru the school.
well said sam
yes, you should get a restraining order
last week the call was because she caled him a witch (but with the B) and apprently yesterday, she was running around the bus while it was moving and playing her trumpet and screaming
laurel, then the parents need help too...are there any therapists in the school, prob. not....i would def. talk to a lawyer as you did
that's civil. file assault charge.
and my son told her to be quiet, which prompted hte hit in the face
those poor children
and when he tried to move, the other kids set him up and told him to sit down in an empty seat wchih only had a bag there, of course that was teh bullies seat and that got him a punch in hte gut
laurel, how old is this girl?
imagine what that girl is going through that she has to act out that way
5th grade
It's horrible that you have to go to that level. The first time I find out that my child is being a bully, the sh** will hit the fan. I will march them straight to the school and that persons house to apologize in front of everyone. A little humility goes a long way.
A young asian lad assaulted my 10 year old about 2 yrs ago an when i went into the shop I got the hieght of abuse an threatened with a large stick,,,I went police and i got done for an aggrevated racila assault so it doesnt always pay to go the police!!!
and she is black, which prompted the "my daughter has a problem with white people" comment from the mother <sigh>
I want to tell you to kill her with kindness...but your son is probably still very frightened to ride the bus
and they say racism is not allowed in schools yeah right tell that to the children who have been hurt
my son is Half Chinese and half German (well, like 3rd generation), and I have tried to keep race completely out of it
laurel, have you spoken to the principal yet, if so, is this girl being suspended and the parents talked to...god, how awful
unlike my daughhter, he LOOKS Chinese, my daughter is blond
u try but someone will always have that evil streak in them to use it
laurel, can you get your son onto another bus?
well, I spoke with the principal, they promised to talk to me today. They will tell me what they plan to do, but will not tell me specific discipline (which I will get through the grapevine), but my husband told me to tell the principal that he wants to come in and look at the tapes
unfortunately, no, the wonderful thing about my district is that it is small and they keep all the grades together versus you assigned to the school closed to your house, but that involves busing all the kids
so, I am dropping him off and picking him up everyday now
laurel, when both parents are involved they move faster to clear the problem
yeah it may look better if 2 of u go in
is this girl in your son's class?
it seems like they would suspend the child from the bus and make her parents take her to school.
and the person I will hire as my lawye rin this case, her son is on the same bus and confirmed a lot of what happened
i need help with all the co words please and hello, how is everyone today
I have a 3 year old and nmo sitter, so, he is in for the bus and I am in for the hollering
laurel, you might have to drop and pick up for a while until someone gets through to this small monster ( she learned that at home)
co 5/20 - what you do when you have a cold, sore throat, add on for the co 7 & 6
that is what I keep saying that is is unfair I am the one who h as to take him back and forth and not her
slap the mother lolol sorry but i would
magzel -- if you have a cold, you will be sneezing and CO5ing then make it plural then make it past tense
If you find the co5/20 ( clear your throat), then the others will follow.
well thanks so much, i shouldn't have missed that
well, I'm outta here - have fun all and see ya tomorrow
phantom word of the day: enough
cya Amanda
laurel, the lawyer has to contact the parents and scare the crap out of them...it's always the involved parent who gets the short end
Bye amanda!
Marso, slapping a mother would set an example for the kids, which is where it all began in the first place.
I want to allow the school a chance to do something
they won't do anything
bye amanda
bye Amanda
especially if this child is not scared of teachers or the principal
if they don't, then i will call the police. I have pictures and I have emails to the shcool and a log of everything that happened on the bus
and then I will file civil assautl and battery charges against her
I'm very lucky, my children go to a small school, my Mom teaches there. Not to mention, the school kids are 8,9, and 10, so they are there to take up for eachother as well.
a lawyer sound like the best way to go
i know,,,,,it just winds me up that some parents can teach their own flesh and blood to be racist bullies
the irony is that if your kid did ONE thing wrong, the school would not hesitate to file criminal charges, suspend, etc.
laurel, you are right, start with the school and go on from there....you have everything documented which is good, good luck...you cant but i would slap this girl into the next county
I'm not sure she can be charged at such a young age though
I want to keep Stefan from having to go to court and stuff. He gets confused easily when trying to explain stuff. Typical brain-child. Can figure out long division by looking but cant put a coherent sentence together sometimes
I WANT to slap this girl into the next century. Actually, I want her to slap Stefan while my dog is watching! :D
I would think they would charge the parents, that's how it works when they do truancy charges.
I have seen 7-year-olds charged with 'terroristic threats' for bringing a tie clip shaped like a gun to school.
lol now now laurel
as, as we can see, violence solves nothing
Ultimately, the police wouldn't even do anything and, if they do, then it will be barely a slap on the wrist, though a visit from the police SHOULD scare most kids and parents, .but I worry from what the mom said, that then it will turn into a race media circus
personally, I was bullied every single day I went to school...you learn to ignore it...then go home and cry!!
Laurel, I certainly hope everything works out for you. i'd hate to be in your shoes. I had better get though, Sky & Twy are aching to get outside and play, it's so beautiful out today. Ya'll take care.
oh raelite, that is awful
I know the feeling, Rae. Unfortunately, neither m husband nor I were the popular kids and Stefan follows our footsteps
got to go folks,,,got visitors,,,take care all
be good
My son is smart, handsome, has a great heart, but is a know-it-all with no impulse control
bye all
have fun marso
as hard as the lessonis, it does build character
bye, Bunny!
yeah, but your heart aches for your child since you never want them to go through what you went through
and even though he is your precious son and you want him to be as happy as possible, are you prepared if nothing happens from this?
bye Bunny and Marso
I learned to hide my emotions from my mother so she wouldn't be upset
I am prepared. I will just keep driving him back and forth from school and probably write a nasty editorial
and you know what the editorial is going to be titled? "THE REAL REASON FOR COLUMBINE"
good...editorials are the best way to get back at people
I really understand those kids now. Abused and bullied with nowhere to turn and even when my son has somewhere to turn, the parents hand are tied
that's sensational...they'll print it for sure!
editorial? for what?
de 5/20 and 6/33?
my son is frustrated with school and this is not helping him deal with his anger issues
morning atalante
is there any way at all you could get say, members of the high school football team to act as bus supervisors?
they must have to do community service before they graduate?
oh, my son got bulled and hit on the bus and I am stuck in PC nightmare
GOD, I wish! No, I am ready to force the school to PAY for adult supervisors on the bus
you could start a program
nm found them
sorry, i meant an editorial where - school paper? local paper? I'm not sure what you mean ...
local paper
considering calling the news medias too

18 Euro
should be able to just find it in the item
All you need to do is go onto the page and it will be right there.

hiya stid...hope you got the hole in your roof fixed after all this rain :(
(it almost sounds like a cheer: go ***!)
haha...shows how much helen and I know 'bout that sort of thing! :)
I think it's fixed, but we haven't had much. The surface is damp but it didn't penetrate the soil here. Still waiting for a real weather system!
I am excited about getting to meet The Fiz and her partner this coming weekend. At least, we think we'll be able to meet up. (keeping fingers crossed that kids don't lose limbs or something)
lol kris
where are you guys meeting up? (can't remember where she's from) sounds like fun!
yep - i'm not the cheerleader type
We are going to try to meet up at the Whidbey Kite Festival on Saturday. It sounds like a fun event.

I did write a couple of chapters since the last time I wrote in the chat log. You might want to read those if you have time.
i will go catch up after i'm done - thanks for the head s up
Well -- it's been a while since a catastrophe hit, and my bones tell me we're due for something. Sorta like all this good fortune can't last forever!
I know what you mean...I was feeling like that and then...this week, I have one of my kids dying with a brain tumor, a good friend in the hospital with pneumonia, and another good friend's mother dying this week also...I love normal and boring...hope your life stays normal and boring, with just enough fun to be exciting.
the kid is one my students..not my own personal kid
oh no, Jee! *sending love and light to you and those you love*
that's a lot, jee
thanks stid...bad day

Sorry to pre=empt story, stid -- go ahead; I'm listening!
Sebastian woke that morning feeling miserable. He was hungry and the bread he had taken from the kitchen was already a bit dry.
to dive off a diving board, walk out to the ed**
Of course, he hadn't slept well at all, with wind noises, animal noises, rock noises, water noises...
thanks ping
And the few branches he had managed to collect for a bed were not springy enough to hide all the rocks jutting out of the ground.
thanks Ping
arr! hi renfield
yw
hi rennie!
Congratulations kristinc on fireworks! Good for you!
And the first thing he saw, on waking, was a crow cautiously stepping close to the overhang.

ahoy, matey!
It banked and turned, and came to rest on a snag out of arm's (and stone's) reach. It made a low, gutteral sound as if it were laughing.
aye me beauty jilli, we be meetin
Sebastian shuddered, and began to collect his few things. It was cold, and misty, and therefore damp, and he wanted to find a warmer spot.
ty bonkler
He had no plan -- no idea what he would do next, no thought for anything beyond the next moment.
ahoy t-owl me matey
A twig crackled behind him, and a rock slipped to the side.

Too late, Sebastian turned to look...

Too late.

He groaned. A gag cut the sound.

Sebastian regretted having waited to do his morning ablutions... he really wanted to make a pit stop.

But there was nothing he could do. He shifted slightly and tried to see what might be around him.

Wooden planks underneath him, at the sides more planks with iron rings set periodically. The vehicle was fairly high.

He had seen wagons like this before, they usually were bound for the port city at the end of the river that flowed past the village.
arrr temple tis the acursed tobaccy ye chew, i'm still trying to warsh it out of me tricorn hat
There were cages of fowl, and bushels of food items stacked and tied as tightly as could be packed and still leave room for life in the animals.

ahoy mateys...ah man, darn near missed storytime! wa' lil Seb has been shanghai'd?
The wagon jostled back and forth and Sebastian turned away from the other inhabitants of the wagon, trying to find any fresh air.

He drifted off as tears wet the sides of the gag.
jilli were you involved in tonights kidnapping
nite firefly
He woke as he was roughly pulled out of the wagon before it had stopped moving.
Two huge, unsavory looking men were there, one with a whip and one with a bowl of stew and a hunk of bread.
no nay no - yesterday made me escape wi help
They removed the gag and untied his arms, but left his leg tied up.
kidnapping performed by unknown ro*** in Stid's story
fi 5 clue please?
chj - were ye involved again in a dastardly plot???
Sebastian gulped down the food and wiped his mouth on his sleeve. He looked at the men fearfully.

thanks lb!
ya lily livered scurvy cur! ye be a kidnappin'?
jee - yeah I have that one
The one with the whip appeared to be about his father's age -- hair beginning to gray at the temples. The other man was younger, heavy-set and dressed in clothes that obviously were meant for someone smaller.
who she be callin' a scurvy cur?

rockim, you are so smart, you must be a ge***, spelled funny
rockim- ge*** species the 4 is without the last letter
Trip after trip, Sebastian made, until his arms ached and his hands grew blistered. Finally the trade animals and the draft animals were watered and they let him hang the bucket up.
bet sebastion wishes he was thrashing wheat right now.
thnx so much
yw
Sebastian wondered at the men, who seemed restless, always looking around. There were seven in all, he now knew, and three wagons. One with the livestock, one with vegetables and preserves, and one with... he didn't know. But as one man always stood near the gate on that one, he couldn't get close enough to tell.
regrets regrets
It was already getting late in the day, but they moved out anyway, taking the rarely used trail down the mountain to the west.
He knew that it would eventually wind around and come out to parallel the river as it flowed to the sea. He was confused that they took this route.
go 4/7???
But the men seemed reluctant to speak except in low whispers and grunts. They tied his hands again, in front this time, and shoved him unceremoniously back into the livestock wagon, but left him ungagged and otherwise unfettered.
rem, like the 5 without the middle letter
go + commercial on tv
He tried not to let his fear and disappointment show, but the men laughed at him anyway...
arrr remluc if i draw my sabre and prod yer skinny ribs i might just go** you into a fight
go 4/7 ": to prod with a stick, to urge on
Once the gate was closed and latched, he let the tears fall.
mu 6/30 please
past tense of mu 4
With a rumble and a jolt, the wagon began to move, throwing Sebastian to the floor and sending the chickens into a tizzy.
the past tense of what is said to a team of dogs.
ty ping i totally forgot to look for past tense
Hour after painful hour, the wagon jolted and bounced, jostled and bumped its way down the mountain.
(Stid, your Tom is a handsome fella!)
yw!
Every once in a while a bit of fresh air came up through a crack in the floorboards, and Sebastian found that if he put his head near it he felt better.
*don't I know it, lbd!*
Inside the wagon it was stuffy and hot. After a while, the smell ceased to be oppressive and simply was.
When the wagon stopped again, it was dark outside, and the blast of cold air that came in when they opened the gate made Sebastian gasp.
The huge man stood there, still with the whip, but this time it hung off his belt. He untied the rope that bound Sebastian's hands and motioned to the bucket wordlessly.
l
No words were needed. Sebastian could hear the roar of the river and quickly proceeded at his task, wincing at every step, as the bucket's handle cut into his blistered palms and fingers. He shoulders ached and his feet were bruised from walking over the rocks.
yes, msilver? Need another clue?
I need help!
When he was done watering the animals, the man handed him a large broom. Sebastian swept out the filth from the wagon. He could smell something cooking from the fire the men had built.
help with what? can you be more specific?
aye ms silver
I am trying to find the flag and the little person next to your player name. I switched my browser to firefox.
Finally, he was done and the man shoved him toward the fire. The men were smiling a bit more now, passing around a bottle from which they eagerly chugged drinks.
click on MY ACCOUnt in top right hand corner of this page
Sebastian found a spot not too close to the men and was handed a bowl with more stew and more bread.
then fill in blanks in section OPtional INFO - does that work?
should ask for your country and gender there?
He looked curiously at the bottle, and one of the men passed it over to him. Sebastian threw his head back and chugged...
and spluttered and gagged and choked. The liquid burned all the way to his stomach, where it set fire to the stew.
One of the men grabbed the bottle out of his hands as he raced for some bushes and was ill.
arrr set his belly ablaze with the grog, when do they run the scurvy knave through with their sabres?
vsny krrp my ryrd oprn. Will read up tomorrow. Gute Nacht
They laughed uproariously at this. "Yo HO!" shouted one man, and the chant was taken up by the others.

Sebastian returned to the circle, and a youngish man -- maybe John or Daniel's age -- came up to his side with a tin cup filled with milk.

jeez
I think I"ll switch to my evil twin, goofball....
He finished his meal and listened drowsily to the songs the men sang, of far-off lands and salty waters, of women who offered favors (what sort, Sebastian didn't know, perhaps candy he thought sleepily), of vast riches to be had for the brave and wary.
msliver, what do you need?
