flip
ooooh, I think I guessed the number... but I don't remember for certain, LOL
152 words? Damn! I'll have to do that mound of holiday ironing today. GRRR!
Heh! Helen, Lickety gets paid some tiny fraction of a cent for every time we click on an ad. You can go right back and click on a different one; he gets paid per click. It doesn't come NEAR to covering the cost of his site, much less his time; but if enough of us do it, it helps. It's a courtesy.
Yeah, Metal, I think you did.
hiya lib !! - hey i had just an awesome day on foot ball today (although stupid new york jets cost me a 4 team parlay that would have paid me $550 - rats!)
Good evening, all
lps,first time ever ,Flip.
late flip!
Keep on listening to Mambo No. 5, folks!
hi nan! hi all!
meta - okay, more importantly now, what will today's lotto numbers be? :)
sorry meant to say good morning from the high alps
hi all - late flip
ankh - thanks, i never knew that was how that worked - i'll do it too from now on

is today
andree - funny, the flip is exactly at the same timefor me as it always was - what accounts for the 2 hours difference -did you guys fall ahead?
is today's theme still aeroplanes?
the flip's is at 8:00 pm for me now, used to be 7:00.
I believe so, fran - going to get mine - bbs
hi jilli!
andree - ankh says that lickety gets paid for every time someone hits one of the ads on his site
Hi Babblers
Flip came at 6 am, bang on time for me. Am also listening to the proper Lou Bega Mambo No. 5 again.
hi frannie
Hi, Puff!
babble bubble i'm in trouble (up too late)
we put our clocks forward 1 hour for daylight saving, what accounts for the other hour?
twen
laila tov melon
andree, the US went back an hour
america jumped back an hour andree
hi deb - not quite laila tov - i just got here!
My partner's 12-years' younger than me, so if I 'go' before he does, I'll have my daughter read him a message and play that song to him to tell him to get on with life after I've gone.
so you ended up two hours different!
ps - erev tov would be good evening.
hi melon!
babble babble you're in trabble?
hi purplepuff
hi Fran!
Oh, JAC. Not THAT song, surely!
Andree - clocks went back an hour here in UK and also in US, I think?
hi purple hi all you have entered
Hi Fran
*****sorry-i whould know that******
hi taz!
Hi taz
the goose is back
Ankh - yes, why not? He'lll be sad (or had better be!) - he needs then to live life for the moment and have fun.
hi, helen-- sorry-crashed--good for you re: football!
s'OK ;)
flip came at 7am here in germany, wish i could babble today but we are on our way back to Chicago have a good nite and ,for others a good day
Hi all
Remember - the first three letters of funeral are F-U-N.
Yvo, safe trip! Sleep tight.
safe trip yvo - hello hug
bye yvo!
just clicked a few of licketys ads, did you come in just now fran
yvo - welcome back home, hope you had a great trip :)
42\
I have so many songs I want played at my funeral that there would be no time to play them all in the 20 mins or so allowed - so, they're going to have to have a party afterwards and play all I've asked for, if I'm not to haunt them! The song I want to 'go out' to, Lynyrd Skynyrd's live version of Free Bird will take up most of the allotted service time!
i was here at the flip andree.
Free Bird!? Oh, Jac!
I kinda like "This War Is Over" by Melissa Etheridge for a funeral song.
Helen im just leaving Garmisch to frankfurt im not home as yet but sure wish i was ,its a long flight
sorry didn't see you, too busy trying to work out the time thing, now I see 1+1 makes 2
Clocks went back an hour in Canada too. I hate the dark afternoons coming up
i think i will just make a stipulation that everyone must play scrabble at my wake and make a donation to the humane society o and wear pink lol
Ankh - what is wrong with that? It's my life theme. Failing that it would be Elton John's 'Skyline Pigeon' or Black Sabbath's 'Laguna Sunrise'.
jacula - a few years ago, one of those grammar school girlfriends wanted us all to go to see cher - she used to be director of marketing for some computer company (us robotics, compaq, 3com, lucent -can't remeber which one it was at the time) anyway she got us all tickets on her 'expense account' & the opening band was that very band - lou bega, didn't know them then (although everyone said i would recognize them) & still don't know them now - but if you like mambo music, you may want to check out the iguanas, esp. their some nuevo bugaloo
I like it better this way.
And, to be brutally honest, Ankh, 'this bird will never be changed' by anyone.
Taz, such an EXCELLENT plan! I want everyone to wear white, like the suffragists.
omg - it's the return of chatty cathy - i didn't realize i wrote all that much! but i did say i was in a chatty mood before
Nuevo Boogaloo sounds like it would be a blast.
I want ding dong the witch is dead to shock everyone :)
lol Helen....... I used to have a Chatty Cathy paper doll
Hey, Jac, it's your funeral... you should have what you want. :)
yvo - you live kinda close to me, i'm on the northwest side, harlem & irving area
hmm, wasn't very chatty then was it ML.
*laughing at Lib's plan*
at the hip shopping center
nuevo bugaloo is a song i play when i'm cleaning - somehow it makes cleaning tolerable
po 8/45, if it hasn't been called already
And Yvo, I'm from that area too, not there now though.
8000 W. Addison
Like I said folks... the first 3 letters of funeral are F-U-N. Celebrate the live of the one who has gone and keep them alive with your memories and laughter.
LOL fran - yeah chatty cathy had a string you pulled & she said - i don't remember what - my sister had one, i didn't :(
Ooh, Nan. I never get the big ones.
ankh - THAT'S WHERE YOU LIVE?????
I'm doing the 'Macarena' now. ROFLOL.
That's where I USED TO live.
:D
why helen, is that where you live?
ankh - did we have this conversation before? about the hub & all that? that was you then, right
No, nan, po8 hasn't been called yet - I just have a po6
nan, does it build off the po6/21?
I suppose I should look at the new grid now? No, maybe not yet... only 152 words... over too soon if i look now.
fran - that is literally 2 blocks from my house!!!
its nice to know there are people from the chicago suburbs etc .well the bellhop is here gotta run ,in my case walk take care all byeeeee
Hey, look, _ _ _ l o w e e n is in there; no hallo, tho.
bye yvo, travel safe!
Yeah, Helen, that was me.
yvo - have a safe trip :)
Bye YVO!
Moulin Rouge - the very old version, in my head phones now. Beautiful music and song.
i live on neva
Hi all - how is everyone. Good grid my 10th word was an 8 letter - I.m sure you all have already found. But makes me feel good.
Hey, bye all, I guess... Dear One is flipping the lights... gonna pull my plug!

meta - are you still here?
I should have said "BOOM" to sound like the pl7! Bye for real now. :)
phantom word: parsnip
pr8/45
k, that answers my question
One good thing about being an independant woman, even though I have a 'new' love now... is that no one locks my kitchen or flips my lights off or tells me when it's time to sleep! Oh LOL! Jolie Jacqueline has just come off Windows Media Player into my headphones now.
yep, still here, for 3 more words anyway I want to get to under a 100 left before I head off to bed
Anyone know that song?
Thanks Fran - my second 8
I didn't until a friend from Amsterdam sent it to me about 3 years ago.
got that pl7 too, thanks ankh!
yw angb!
Has it got anything about leaving the toilet seat up as well Jacula?
meta- i was going to say to you earlier, if you don't play the lotto, you'll never win - but in any event, just give me 5 numbers from 1 - 39 -just do it the same way you picked the grid size, but just think of illinois :)
No, Ang.
could I have heard jolie jacqueline years and years ago?
I don't hate men! Goodness! Quite the opposite.
Sounds a good song - but
helen you are funny! :D

hello deb
Hiya! did anyone get the ra 8 yet?
not yet
hi chic, that's the one i'm missing
Queen - Don't Stop Me Know in my headphones. Finding words aplenty.
chic, do you have the points?
hi chic -- so it's an ra8, is it? *looking*
down to 10
I got it
wtg maniac!
how many points erda?
Why would anyone wnat to be down to 10 this early in the grid??
Hi Fran and Jilli, I'm still looking for it myself...
compound word, erda?
It's the second word used in describing the catalogue you get at better art exhibits -- Catalogue ra******
40 points
thanks erda! *still looking*
not compound -- French word
Start with French for "reason" and develop it from there
guess I haven't been to enough better art exhibits...
me either jilli
wish i had gone to more art exhibits instead of the velvet elvis the guys sells on the street corner
thanks erda
lol taz
can be a book or a catalogue--definitive collection of an artist's work...
lol taz
ty erda actually got it
thanx erda!
yw yw yw
thanks, erda!
Oh, got it with a lucky guess - thanks Erda for the French hint
tw4/8 sounds like how Elma Fudd would say tr4/4
I stumbled onto it -- glad I could help!
thought I'd tried every conceivable addition to french reason, but guess I'd better start again
u sure did erda
lol col
ah --- found it.
yay, got it! thanks erda
re 7/28
you are ever so welcome
to bring in the bacon again or to give something to someone again
thanks chic, i think i found the same one.
to borrow again chic
oh duh, you wanted a clue! lol
thanx andree, I was giving the clue that time...;-0
there are two 7/28s...
thanks maniac for the other one.
sorry chic
I think I will go now until later. My interest right now is in music not the grid. See you all later.

Bye everyone who's leaving. Love your kittens, Erda.
night Fran
Not sure it IS music now... seem to have got to stepdaughter's part of of the music on PC. However, 'Reach For The Stars' does have good and funny memories... so I'll go with it and raise my arms and sing it.
Congrats, manic. Very impressive!!
ty hydra -- ta!
One way of working out to face the morning, Jack!
yay manic
hi all :) just thought I'd pop in and say hi even though I can't play! Its loooooovely playing tour guides to England for my friends, but its v frustrating not being able to play babble!
hi ata!
hi ata
maniac you are finished?
hi ata
i had to give up babble the week my best friend was visiting too!
we'll be waiting when you get back.
3 of us sticking our arms up out of the car sunroof as it drove along, celebrating life and fun, hydra! (That song.) Can't be bad, can it?
Oh, poor Atalante. Know how you feel. I couldn't finish yesterday because of unexpected visitors.
but they are here for THREE weeks!
oh no ata! that's a long time!
yes, i finished
We were celebrating feeling like a new extra family amidst the wreckageof 2 broken families, neither of which the adults in the car had caused.
Three? Remember Oscar Wilde - guests and fish stink after 3 days.
I know! I'll just have to drop by and say hi whenever I can, if nothing else :)
Not that I'm suggesting your friends are anything but fragrant!
lol hydra!
Ata ! Did you get my e-mail before I went on hol?
almost mediocre missing the re 6/7 that is not what makes a repeat borrower of one - clue please?
can i some help with one of the 8's i have none
melon, repeat money maker
hey all - back for a bit before i have to change laundry
hiya melon!
ermmmmm I don't think I've dared look at my email for a few days! The amount of spam that account gets is scary, and it builds up and UP!! And then its too scary to try and wade through it all LOL
& i see i missed chic :(
melon, make money by working again
Kyle - not clueing lke I normally do because saving the short grid or later.
hi hk!
thats fine
thanks anyway
ah, speaking of scary, i'm thinking of asking babbler to change the icon theme for tuesday to something more halloween-y (currently the theme is pubs) what so you guys think?
Ata - I did put Jacula and Babble in the title line!
just out of curiosity - does anyone here play tangleword?
xxxooo fran - i can go beddy bye now! laila tov, all.
kyle, po8, one who uses hemlock or cyanide
night melon!
phew :) ermmmmm *runs to open email from hell*
pr8, pr8 of zenda
Hell - Hallowe'en isn't such a big thing here in UK as it is in US. Becoming more so though.
maniac - i play tangle, erda does too & occassionally we see leviathon here
po 8 - toxin purveyor
maniacwitch - I play tangleword occasionally.
a few years back was in UK remmeebr a bonfire day
pr8 person in jail
yes, helen, halloweeny!
ra8, french for reason with extended ending
where does one find tangleword?
jac- you do? what's your name there? same thing?
wo 6.30 anyone?
pr 8 - in custody
interesting, my nick is shifting over there
how about halloweeny and guy fawkesy?
lib - you think i should just ask for halloween-y, or something more specific?
what is tangle is it this same sitre?
sure jili - the old guy fawkes revolution - what exactly is that?
i don't have that yet taz
Hell - now, poor old Guy Fawkes, the fall guy in that old plot, still gets burned here.
see hetty's writeup in babanon for the guy fawkes story
tangle is at playsite.com - it's basically online boggle
As to what my tangleword nick is... no idea right now! Jacula, probably.
Haven't played it for ages.
thanks, maniacmitch
hahaha maniac - i was there the other day when someone accused you of cheating!
lol
phantom - obsolete
fran the wo is one who like a frequent first place person in a contest
Still listening to my music. Marlene Dietrich's, 'You Go To My Head' playing here... my song, as ever, to my Other Half.
I was on about my funeral plans earlier. Should I just play that for him, do you think?
fyi babblers - maniacm/shifting has an abnormally, outrageously high rating in tangle, almost at the ceiling
just looked at playsite but can't find tangleword, not even on the web section. Where is it, maniac?
there's a tab at the top of the page - it says "web"
went there but couldn't find it. I'll look again later maybe, after babble.
if you click on that a new page should show up - it's under classic games
Eric Cartman from South Park's version of 'Oh Holy Night' playing now - cracks me up every time!
no hydra - it's at iwin.com - playsite & iwin merged in february, that's why & when i discovered babble
i didn't know there was still a playsite-site
I got switched to iwin and thta's where I looked, helen
phantom: bonbonnière
And now ' The Mouse in the Old Windmill in Old Amsterdam' - sent to me by a friend from Amsterdam. *grins*
then maniac is right - there are sections at the top - downloads, web & something else - click web, it'll be in the lower right hand box
pr6/21 is a dwelling for fe 6/27
If anyone is tying to track my musical tastes right now, they will be going dizzy.:)
doesn't sound unusual at all jac, i have a wide range myself.
er 6.30??
fran did you see i found the wo
hi taz!
ooh, thanks taz!
hiya hk
don't have that er yet either
yell if u need another wo clue
gotta go switch laundry now
whos you switching for?
bbl
Listen to what I'm listening to know - the old Norman Greenbaum song, 'Spirit in the Sky' as done by Gareth Gates & The Kumars! And then all you doubters about racial integration, is the God the same one? doubters... just listen and join in.
later andree!
ok andree
ok break time
Got a regggae track on now - same message really.
Six Fat Dutchmen: In heaven there is not beer .... that's why.....
later taz! got that wo, thnks!
Yes, I know the hour change has spooked me and I've ended up staying up all night and will miss a day in consequence... but it doesn't make my message for us all getting on together any the less true.
There are good people and bad people all across the world, irrespective of race, colour or creed.
Absolutrly agree, Jac
Take people as you find them!
Thanks, hydra! Knew you would!
good morning everybody:)
Morning, jean
hi jean!
hello jean
Oh, I forgot to mention the UK thing, too... also irrespective of class... I would also expand that one to India and say irrespective of caste.
fran - your goose is here
Hygiene! Erk! I mean Hi Jean!
lol
Your brain's in overdrive 2day, Jac!
thanks jilli! someone mentioned it earlier too.
Making Your Mind Up is in my headphones now? Cheryl Baker ripping her skirt off in the Eurovision contest? Tht's definitely a stepdaughter generated one!
oh - guess I wasn't looking -- I've been in and out
I was blasting down the A40 with Fame on the stero, singing my head off yesterday. And now leggings are back in fashion!
The Bells Of St. Mary's - old 40's 70rpm in my headphones now. That is definitely one of mine!
happy Monday all... better for the fact that I don't have to go to work... until tomorrow... :)
Hello sherb:)

fran what is the goose one?
old fashioned "time" word
taz, the hawaiian goose, ne4/4
er6 is kind of a compound, er* (poetic preposition) + *** is the time.
ok for the goose need to look for er ty
Sorry! Left The Spice Girls singing 'Wannabee' (a rave of mine which I've seen them singing live loads of times when taking young daughter to Peter Andre concerts around the country in the 8os). Was away having a political discussion with daughtwer's boyfriend - Heck! I don't like him much but he's a Thatcherite, who actually understandfs what Maggie was doing, like myself.
ty found it
But, what the heck, re Babble. Never talk religion or politics with friends.
(We get enough politics here at home with all the uni students.)

tyvm maniac
taz - yes. A bit pie-eyed also.

Aargh, sorry
not voting is criminal... for women and men... I've never in my life voted for a winning candidate in a general election... but I have to vote...
hehe, tried that :P
Mind you, the Spice Girls Mama is about to play... i made me cry when my daughter played it for me.
don't forget the rule fmitch! if you must post words in the chat, they need to be real words! :-)
i haven't missed an election, general or primary, since i turned 18
I'll remember that for next time Fran :)
She was in a clinic at the time, taz, where we had to put her because she only weighed 4 stone. We went through all the usual blame and social worker stuff. She's 19 and healthy now.
wow jac great she turned out so well
She was 13 when she went in there.
how much is 4 stone jac?
so glad she is healthy now
how many kilos?
Fran - inpounds? Not sure. So thin you are about to die from heart failure.

You do realise I have my music head on right now, have not loked at today's grid yet.

don't know how you can listen to music so early in the morning... the most I can cope with is the Today programme, turned low...
Been looking for the ra8 and need a litle clue please just to point me in the right direction
does it start with a wet word?
fmitch, start with french reason and extend
yes jilli
Good for you, chj! Yahoooooooooooooo
Got it thanks Fran
yw fmitch
Warpigs - Black Sabbath now. Should I change my icon to the one mhy Beloved hates? The one I had in the forum I met him on? Not my fault I looked like Ozzy then, with my shades on!
capital of France, pa5/12
someone might have said this already, but phantom: parasol
I don't sound quite like Ozzy - haven't done the drugs. He doesn't sound like him either for the same reason... but take a Brummie born girl and a Walsall (Black Country) born lad and you may well find Ozzy somewhere in there.
so did he think he was chatting with ozzy jac?
Oh, and Sharon agrees with me! Yes, THAT sharon.
cool jac, have you actually met her?
hardly! Fran.
lol jac!
If he had he'd not have carried on chatting.
didn't think so jac! just having fun with you. :-)
Fran- only on phone.
is po8/45 build onto po6/21 at all??
yes colhad
In earphones now is, 'I'll Be With You In Apple Blossom Time'.
i couldn't see how it did either until after i typed the word in.
Sure is col
Jacula - do you think you will be OK listening to all this DIFFERENT sorts of music in such a short period of time?
there are two ways to make the po6, colhad...
I think I'll pack it in now - over half way which is my usual night-time goal unless the grid is a monster
how about 'Just Another Manic Monday', Jacs...
Gawd help you all when my windows player gets around to Marlene's 'Falling In Love Again'. That's my party piece, because I CAN sing it. I can also chime with anything by Kiki Dee.
night jilli!!
lol sherb
See ya Jilli
nite jilli :)
nite jilli
thanks all for po8/45
Backto Mambo No.5, ROFLOL.
heh, he's cool, Lou Bega
speaking of which... good to see the Royle Family back last night...
Sure is, Colhad.
Sherb! Hi again. Did you watch it and did you cry when Nanna died?
Good morning all. Is the grid friendly?
It's a good Monday one Haz. Morning
I cried when they sang 'Che Sera, Sera'...
good morning Haz:)
Hi Haz. No idea re the grid. I've been here since the flip and not l;ooked yet/
morning Haz :) ... very kind so far...
That's good - I'll jump in. (Is Jacula being a distraction?)
sherb - it was so real, that Doris Day stuff... crying again now, sily cow, I am.
no... she's got her headphones on...
I found it really touching...
Haz - not a distraction now, you mised my chocolate willies!
LOL... what's that?
Incidentally - did you get an e mail from me on sat/Sun?
hey all - back to throw a few more words in before i call it a nite
Indeed I did. Shocked into silence I was.
hi haz! hi again hk!
hi helen :)
I thought I was going to extend my language knowledge.......
Hello Franmag!
yay! finally greyed out the T.
right must away for a while happy babbling everybody:)
Bye for now jean
bye jean!
later jean :)
Sorry, Haz. LOL! Thought the same myself when my Mother's friend e-mailed same to me.
Am I still eligible to still try to get thrugh to Child Line over than one??:()))
Your MOTHER'S friend? And I thought the older generation had standards!
In return, I should send you the powerpoint presentation re chocolate. It's quite good fun.
'Santa Baby' - Eartha Kitt, asking Santa to trim her... christmas tree... etc... on my headphones now. Inncocent, am I!
I'm safely now listening to 'Stuck in the Middle' by Stealer's Wheel. Yes, Haz, sent me the chocolate stuff.
Will do.
Thanks Haz.
Ken Livingstone's favourite animal in the grid...
Quantities of them!
I wonder does he still keep them?
don't know... haven't seen them mentioned for a while... Ken is a local round here... sometimes see him in Waitrose on a Saturday...
Damn! Haz has lost 5lbs and I'VE MAYBE GAINED 10.
Generous is my middle name.
no more chocolate willies for you...
From now on shemay be known as 'THAT BITCH HAZ' even though I luv her!
I'm saying no4/8
Maybe it would be nicer if I referred to her as a spanielle?
now how could I miss that word!! ...a good Yorkshire lass like me...
Haz - No idea what you're saying re today's grid - not doing it yet.
sherb - don't care! Real thing is nicer anyway!
I didn't type that! A troll typed it!
You'll work it out from the context. It's the Yorkshire version of Manuel saying 'I know nothing', except in this case it's saying nothing.
I was pleasantly surprised when enable allowed that no4/8
I know - no rhyme nor reason with dear enable.
Just doing some castanet playing and flamenco dancing now. Bohemian Rapshody in my headphones. I still miss Fred so much! Can't believe he's gone.
don't forget to make it (the no4/8) a plural as well, Hi everyone
Doh! and Hi Ishult haven't seen you for a while.
hi lshult :) ...West Ham doing a bit better after this weekend...
hi Ishult!
Hey, Jacula, couldn't agree more. Saw the mighty Freddie & co at Milton Keens back in '82. One of the best days of my life.
Thanks sherb, breathing a little easier now, but only a little!!
Ishult - I saw the band back in the 70s when they were sttill,, tentively trying to be famoous... nothing, other thsn The Beatles has tailed or topped them since.
FM- been playing alot lately, but don't always have time to chat.
Well it's goo dto see you are still around :)
And, if anyone wants to talk abnout The Rolling Stones, dare I say The Facess (Rod stewart's so-called backing band, did all that stuff in a far funkier way?
be back in a bit
Don't get me wrong - I love the Stones.
I thought 'freon' would be a word, but apparently it's a registered trademark...
Tell me sherb I ahve tried that so many time this morning, it was driving me nuts.
I never even knew it was a word. What is it?
hi!
Hello Angel.
stuff in fridges... not manky old lettuce, but gas used as coolant...
i found bosnia, but it did not accept it.
i have hit a wall at 82
(sorry Bosnia with a capital)
Ah well, that explains why I didn't know it! Bosnia wouldn't be accepted because it has a capital letter. The dictionary (enable) doesn't accept proper names.
mm...yea u'r right
does any1 here play runescape?
There are a couple of science words I do know - pr5/12 and pr6/21 were agents reckoned to have something to do with CJD
cuz i do
No, babble is my only vice.
I'm assuming your fingers are crossed...
The thunder and lightning has started outside....
wat do u mean babble is my own vice?
Haz's halo is very shiny sherb :)
bye
Bye.
fmitch! long time, no see! but i see other people with your icon now & i always think it's you - that icon is getting popular
short but sweet Angel...
Morning all...can someone please clue me AR6/18?
(was it something I said?)
hi flask!
Hi helen Good to see you too. Yes there are at least 2 others that I've seen with it.
old Babble word Flask... sounds like a type of sherry...
Flask - Mr Onassis, then a universal distress signal rearranged
...but actually a musical term meaning 'in the manner of an air or melody'...
Hello everyone...
hiya doug!
hello Douglas :)
Good morning Douglas - you're looking very hirsute this morning.
doug - how are you liking the vikings tomorrow?
Hi douglas
Well, I hits him with everything I had right square between the eyes. I says, Im gonna gitcha, you son of a bitch ya, for spoutin that pack of lies. If theres one thing I cant abide, its an ethnocentric racist; Now you take back that thing you said bout aristitle onassis. No, they aint makin jews like jesus anymore, We dont turn the other cheek the way we done before. You could hear that honky holler as he hit that hardwood floor lord, they sho aint makin jews like jesus anymore! All right!
Maybe the Vikings aren't completely mediocre...I was expecting them to be exposed against the Bears, and they weren't...
Douglas exemplifies an interesting form of word association... you say a word... and he comes up with a song...
It's a song by one of the candidates for Texas Governor, the legendary Kinky Friedman...
Haz...there is only one S????
No, Flask, there are two. The word ends in a vowel.
Scrub that - not two s but ends in a vowel.
Got it!...thanks!
lol douglas - i interpret that as 'they're probably gonna mop up the dome with the patriots" :)
My universal distress signal was wrong.....
*pretends no to notice...*
Kylie - 'Can't Get You Outta My head' in my headphones and on video now - tht MUST be my Other Half's doing! But, kylie's had a rough time nd a long fight now. I'm sleeping now.
Close enough, haz...it bodes well that my first word is a 6...
bona
Sorry...
Sleep well, Jacula!
bye Jacs
They say that sleep helps to burn off calories. You've an extra ten pounds to lose.....
BYE MY BEST MATES hAZ & fmITCH.
good nite jacula :)
bye Jacs :) ...
Listening to Kylie right now...
Listening to Black Sabbath 'gateway to heaven' now. Need sleep now. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
that's it for me - i'm beat
good nite everyone :)
nite helen :)
Night helen
Lift your head off the keyboard, Jacula and go to bed! Out the door and up the stairs (I'm guessing) Not the front door though.
I wil try to by-pass Haz's unkind remark about the extra 10lbs to lose.:(
Good night helen, you sleep well as well.
It's the imaginary 10 lbs. I sure haven't lost 5 lbs!
Dae Edmunds' Rocpile, I Hear You Knocking'.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, Gone! bbl.
ok, finally down below 30... and I'm off for a trip to Liberty's... holiday shopping treat... later all :)
Have a good day, sherb.
oh have fun sherb, love that building. TTFN
Listening to Kinky Friedman's album "Sold American"
good evening everyone
Hello Andree.
an7/28 please
I am getting fed up of seein that red bar, guess I have hit the wall. Hi Andree
an7/28 = an + vowel + bottom of shoe
Thanks FMitch!
yw
"When a *****'s not engaged in his employment... Or maturing his *****ious little plans His capacity for innocent enjoyment Is just the same as any honest man."
Gilbert and Sullivan? But I'm blowed if I can fill in the missing stars.
Got it - already had it, but was trying to work in a policeman somewhere!
G&S on a Monday morning, too much for me.
It was the song sung by the Sargeant of the cowardly constabulary in The Pirates of Penzance, bemoaning the necessity of depriving his erring fellow creatures of liberty...
po6/21 and po8/45 - cyanide and the one who administers it.
Ah, already got those ones thanks Haz.
Hamlet's Uncle Claudius was a po8/45
I thought you would, FMitch!
**** is a genre of film...
It is also an anagram of ****.
Is it just me, or do any of you think the Esteban guy selling guitars and guitar lessons is most likely named Steve Schwarzinski?
Talking of constabulary (tenuous link) - have you got the fe5/16 (& pl) that went to pr6/21 and became a pr8/45 for his sins?
Yes - a pretty good link, if you ask me! Did you ever watch the TV series (not the antipodean one)
He went to pr6/21 and became a pr8/45, because he was a po8/45...
been on phone, thx for an clue fmitch
yw Andree. ... LOL Douglas Haz arre you referring to the TV prog The pr8?
Yes - I have vague memories of it, and now realise that nobody else could understand what was going on either.
is5/10 take the thorn from the Scottish national flower.
Vague memories here too. :)
a clue please for fr516?
I'm actually quite glad I didn't see the last show in the series...
fr5/16 is french for brother, especially named Jacques.
Silly question to ask what happened, Douglas!
Why, what happened Doug?
Thanks Haz....I was using the wrong R....
Number 1's face is covered by a mask, and number 6 takes off the mask, only to discover his own face...
oooer!
So then the whole series is made clear, or even more confusing?
en6/18 please
eonir
Prisoner: Where am I? Number Two: In The Village. Prisoner: What do you want? Number Two: Information. Prisoner: Which side are you on? Number Two: That would be telling. We want information, information, information... Prisoner: You won't get it. Number Two: By hook or by crook we will. Prisoner: Who are you? Number Two: The new Number Two. Prisoner: Who is Number One? Number Two: You are Number Six. Prisoner: I am not a number. I am a free man. Number Two: Ha, ha, ha, ha....
I worry about you, Douglas.
sorry
Possibly one of the most disappointing final episodes in the history of television...
Channel Four will probably do a programme soon entitled 'The 100 most disappointing final episodes in the history of television'. They've done just about everything else.
What are its competitors, Douglas?
Very true HAz
What annoys me is that they wheel in people to give opinions who are far too young to have ever seen the programmes/films under discussion.
Quantum Leap
I saw that offered as a competitor at YouTube, where the intro is available...
I enjoyed it as a series - how did it end?
I've just realised that my surname is in the grid. Not acceptable to enable, though.
So it is Haz!
She turned me into a ****!
A ****?
I got better...
clue for en6/18 please? Hi Haz, Mitch, Douglas
Now scanning through all four letter words to see if I can make sense of Douglas.
Hello hydra...
It's a Monty Python and the Holy Grail reference, Haz...
Hi hydra - haven't got an en6 yet.
Then I'll not get it in a million years!
I don't have en6 either, hydra.
Ah well, I shall keep trying. This is my 2nd visit; I popped in first at about 7 am.
me either hydra
Me neither hydra...
hydra did you see sprite when you were on earlier?
en plus a short word for a piece of off-shore land.
No, no sing of sprite. Jacula was there.
Haz you are a genius. A couple of more words before bed
Thats what I thought - unusual not to see sprite of a morning.
I meant 'sign', but she WAS singing! Had music on her headphones.
Not a genius at all. I used morewords!
thx haz
whats morewords haz
morewords should be listed as an FOB (Friend of Babble)
Morewords - a very useful tool
Just found that en6/18 if anyone else needs a clue.
Andree - it's a great resource. www.morewords.com. Type in the first two letters at least of the word you are looking for, dashes for the number of remaining letters, press a button and it brings up a list. Then you just have to scan through. I use it in preference to monkey-typing!
thx haz, will try it
so will I
This is where I wish that I was on commission from morewords!
Just tried and it gave me the op5 right away!
Escellent - it really is very useful and I think your brain does absorb the other words as you are scanning through.
Excellent -that should have read!
One of the great things about Babble is learning about subatomic particles...
we knew what you meant anyway
I just tried it too, bit of a pest going back and forth though
know what you mean...
Andree - reduce it down in size, minimize it and then press on it when you want to consult it.
At the latter stages of the grid I have the list and morewords minimized and can juggle back and forth. Completely non-technical language, but hopefully you know what I mean!

You're welcome Andree.
Im in Mich. Eva,our weather can change at a drop of the hat but Im a native so I am use to it.
We're probably both getting weather from canada (it's all their fault)
Late-night comics lurking in the center of the grid...
Well said Eva, we have to blame it on sombody!!!
na5/10 - almost Niles Crane's ex-wife.
"I guess you could say I'm a ***** A cowboy outlaw, tough and proud Well, I could have lotsa friends if I wanted, But then I wouldn't stand out from the crowd"
An external opening in the nasal cavity of a vertebrate; a nostril.
this grid is starting to annoy me!
it seems so much harder than usual, or maybe I'm tired
Thanks Haz that`s my kind of clue.
Glad to help, mcadam.

have to run into the shower, that might help....bbl
I know I say this every day, but I don't like the look of this grid
bye dorens
Bye Dorens - I should get the dog walked while it is still dry. The grid contains a high proportion of unusual words that have appeared er6/30 - just keep searching the memory banks!
Time to start the day. I'll be back tonight.

wow thats cool I didnt get to see her yesterday thats great!!!!!
well, the last word i got was pl7/32, think of something blowing up, fireworks even, but the word normally starts with ex, but not on this occasion
I read back just a few lines ... the grid is about like yesterday's?

great clue got it right away
ty colhad, nice clue
tx Colhad, got that one too
I liked it, but then I'm twisted.
pl6/33, is something a farmer does to his crops, builds on to pl4/9
Shoot! I was looking forward to a good one.
wonderful news about faerie's mom--thanks so much!
lol haz you always seem to like the ones I hate
Merk - don't be put off, there are lots of babble words that have appeared before.
Was it Saturday's that had the 'v'? Now that got interesting and real words that aren't often in the grid.
I worried about that particular grid - so many ways of cutting!
po8/45, you do this to a fly or insect I guess when you spray your house, builds onto po6/21
Haz, you are such a motivator. I admit these grids are an education ... words I've never heard about before.
man youare a good cluer Ive got them right away
pr8/45 is a bloke who's done wrong and is locked up, builds onto pr6/21
Give it a try, anyway, Merk and see how you get on.
What a cute clue Colhad. Thanx
I will. I have to move Mum from assisted living to nursing home later today ... so sad. I wanted to start with a good grid.
ra8/40 Arranged systematically, or according to classes or subjects; as, a catalogue
that's the meaning for it, hard to clue that one
I'm sure plone and splone should be words, they sound so fun
ra8/4- extend French for reason (as in ra**** d'etre).
Sorry Colhad, I didn't get the ra 8 clue, but then, I just got up and haven't had coffee yet.
Good morning Babblers. I expected more words at first glance of those letters in the grid.
Haz, I wish I knew French as good as you do.
wo6/30, think of someone who's beaten you in a race , he's the w******, but change the second vowel :)
hey scrabbler
hi Scrabbler
Okay, the french for reason resembles the structure of a dried grape (change one vowel) . Repeat the final consonant and end with a vowel.
Hi Kate and Colin.
Hey, I got the 8--TY
thanks, haz--had no idea that was an english word!
ty haz
I know - the things you learn on here!
Thanks Colhad got all those great help
The last vowel is the silent one, I assume. You give great clues everyone.
Hi Haz, Merk, Shorty, Une, Tiny..I hope I didn't miss anyone.

Well done, tiny!
I'll be around, just gunna play some WEBoggle
pa5/12 - what's the connection between France, a hotel heiress and a cast.
I have been a vegetarian since med school started in Aug '81---groos anatomy did that to me.

You are too tricky for me, Haz.

I told you I was twisted.
Gottcha
Gottcha to Tiny's coffee address, not to Haz. You're not twisted.
You're very kind, Merk!
Thanks Merk my son made one for himself and didnt make one for me
Hi matty--sorry to ignore you there

There were some good ones a few minutes ago for everything.

ty Haz!
ne6,18...the guy Mike at MST3k
Merk - it's a homonym for lo4/4 - a single thing or person

If somone can kill by being a po8/45, surely the person they've killed would be a po****ee?

I need help with the ne6 clue--I forgot my British naval history details, lol
Scrabbler, ne6 - last name of Harriet and Ozzie from an old TV show
One of the three 8s is a person behind bars
and don't forget Griant Haystacks and Kendo Nagasaki!
Soo....no-one can clue the other 8?
Oh, THAT naval hero. TY.LOL
Bye all.Vaccuum cleaner calling.
one minute matty...I want to make sure I got the definition right
Bye macadam
Got that - the person behind bars, and the person who killed with toxin
YW Scrabbler :)
Have fun, macadam,
i'm with you,matty--the last 8 is elusive to me.
FMitch - do you remember any of the tag teams?
Remember Kendo Nagasaki........they were determined to unmask him!
Okay, for the other 8: think "reason for being" in French, and add an ne
Has anyone clued the ar 6 or was that one I missed?
ra8/40 - relating to the cataloguing of pictures for exhibition. or French reason, extended with a double consonant and a vowel.
ra 8/40 every year you get a pay ra**e + first numeral but double second letter
hi all I'm back
ar6 - Mr Onassis, plus a plural letter enclosed within two vowels.
ta tiny
thanks, i got the last 8
YW
Any B clues. I have the tibia/ femur one. Bono is not a word, which would really annoy him.
ar6 - defined as being in the style of manner of an air.
I only have the ships Bo***
Thanks Tiny!
Yw
oh sure, thanx
bo5/14 - looks like an old fashioned term for the female chest, but different consonant on the end.
LOL Haz
The ship's what???, Tiny?
bo4/7 - hits or strikes - often used here to describe kinds of lighthearted dances.
Ok maybe it is not quite the same spelling
try this then bo+male child
OK, now I've got it--duh on the bo4
She bo** herself on the head.
how u doing sha?
phantom word: bonsai
And "solon" is a phantom word too
I keep trying to make that one fit peri
Freon is not a word---:(
apaerntly it's a trademark
I'm off to make some lunch - sp6/21 - a body part that lends itself to venting, en6/18 - add a small off-shore piece of land, io6/18, make the positively charged io4/4 singular, then add a number. Have a good day!
Bye Haz
bye Haz:)
Has anyone clued the en 6?
Oh, thanx Hax, it means nothing to me yet, but I'll check it out.
ty haz, found them all
en6: if you were going to invent a word to mean "place into an island" it might look like this
very clever haz and thanks, enjoy your lunch
You're welcome - Bye!
TY Haz--I am thinking about the sp6 still, but go t the others
lol cairo most of the words look like someone just invented them
lol kthdsn - you are right about that!
Got it. Working on the i clue now.
Bye, Haz! Hello, everyone else!
Got the sp6--
Hello ankhorite
Hey Hamster
*wags her hamstertail!*
That little hamster always cheers me up.
ROFLOL
hi ank!
Oooh, Jean has HORSES in her icon! Not little hamsters! Hi, Ch! My mother tells me "Frit-O-Lay" was my first word I read aloud by myself.
LOL Ank!
rofl Ankorite
Good for you, Ank. You were the Frito Bandito.
I must say, some of the 'e' tiles are well placed.
No, it's truuuue! They think maybe I just recognized the logo and spoke what I'd heard on TV. But it is also truuuue that I still AM the Frito Bandito. I love those things, and alas, they have given me the figure I have today. *poses corpulent hamster-self*
merk, it's just the rest of the tiles that are in the wrong places is it?
What was the er 6 clue?
Oh, duh, got it myself.
sp6... I'm still working on Haz's clue. Sorry, Merk, I don't know.
I have a finely sculpted body, it is just an X-large sculpture.
bbl
Think of body organ below left ribs--it can rupture if injured.
Hello - How many today please?
sp 6/21 it is in your stomacke
152 Oliver
Well, Scrabb, --I-- have the body of a goddess. (Venus of Willendorf)
Ank, it's almost an idiom. I hear it more with Haz's venting clue than I ever hear it as a part of the body. People often lose it in auto accidents ... its in your abdomen.
Thank you
whoops stomache
Tiny, I hope it wasn't my coffee.
ROFLOL, Ank. I have to remember that one.
Oh, for goodness' sake. Tiny, Merk, have it now, thanks much.
No Merk definitely not just my silly keyboard
Your Welcome Ank

Well, I wanted to play with the Big Girls, you know, the toughies who always finish and never Lickety. But... I'm not cut out for that. KTHDSN, try op+what you go to confession for
ty ankh
I rarely use the list, I think it spoils the fun a bit, and I can't concentrate on the list AND chatting at the same time
Oh look!, only just started, and the first word is ME!!
can i have a clue for the ra8/40 please
Yay ExWr**!
Hi wren
Ex, you're in the grid!!
KTH, night bird??
hello ExWren
scatty it's like a dried fruit with one letter different, then double the last letter and add a vowel
ra 8/40 every year you get a pay ra**e + first numeral but double second letter
Tiny, that's a good clue.
Hello everyone, it's good to be popular!
ankh it's plural if that helps, they live in barns...
thanks Ank
Urp... I was looking at wrong O. Thanks!
are the a's all obscure?
thank you
Ok I'm not getting the ra 8 :(
most of the As I have are quite odd
and HELLO everyone :)

thought so
hi faerie, so glad to hear your mum is improving, how are things today
Hello faeriekae:)
Kthdsn - ty she is still on the upswing :)
Hiya Jean
Sha, 6/21 = Jail, and person in it will give you 8
sha, 6/21 behind bars
faeriekae look at my clue at 7:41 see if it helps
have that one guys need the other one
sha the pr 5/12 is like before but change the last letter, then plural it
it also causes mad cow disease apparently
Thanks Tiny I'm checking
sha pr5/12 is a type of bird - petrel. pr6/21 is plural. By the way - hi everyone.
sha it has been known for people to use ratsack to po**** someone
I can't let Shorty get ahead of me.....we are racing the grid today *teehee*
Hi Francis
bye for now, bbl happy babbling:)
Bye jean
Hi faerie - so ploease to hear your ma is on the mend

good morning everyone
Stuck on the petrel clue...
Thanks Francis :)
Hi Annie
still dont get the pr 5+ 6 guys
faerie, so happy to hear the good news re: your Mom
Morning / evening Annie
hi tiny and frances
Me neither, Sha.
If you're a suspect on CSI they check to see if you have any pr* convictions, change the last letter, then plural it
sha remove the s from the jail and then plural
faerie, was so glad to hear your mom is improving!
thanx kthdsn fireworks for me
Those are germs, not birds, right?
thanx all for the clues
congrats, sha!
i don't know about being germs but there not birds

Hiya Metal :)
Hi again!
Yes Scrabbler thanks :)

TY Frances-- I only knew that word as a viral bit
Thank you Charm and goodmorning
Hi, annie, metaleather
You're welcome Scrabbler
Hi, faerie. "Must" be a good morning!!
bye all
Bye sha
bye Sha
bye sha
'bye sha
well, into the grid I must go, to finish those pi5/12 keys which remain
I am missing an no 4,4 and going crazy searching for it. What am I not seeing? Is there a slang one or something?
Think Christmas carols
Got it.
Think Grandma
noen
do you have nothing
neon
Think opposite of many
sorry, sorry, oooooops
You got one, Annie
Got that and the one that ends in a different vowel.
Merk.... you have until "Christmas" to find "nothing"
i sure did
merk, in the bright light, clue below
what about the "dark night" in which they make films like Casablanca
I have both of those as well as the one where you change vowels at the end of the "not any" one. There is a fourth one that I do not have. What time was the bright light given?
do you have the colour balck in french
The bright light is a ne4 though.
what about the goose?
TY Scatty!!
morning
Yes, I finished the ne. What about the Grandma?
Isn't that like the "not any" with a different vowel at the end?
Hi Laurel
It's also a woman's name.
I must get ready for my tennis match, then work. Bye folks---have fun with the grid and clues.
merk, what about the handle on the door?
and you have "close"?
That is not 4,4 ... it's 4,6
there are 2 different nothings
later, scrabbler
close? Any other clue for close?
THere is one like the bright light, but with a different consonant at the end?? I'm stumbling on that. You don't mean the plural, do you?
bye scrabbler
the second is a 4/8 and its a northern (england) term
I have 4,4 Christmas and it's plural. Then I have the woman's name, next is the not any. I have no idea where the no 4,4 is, but know that it comes after Christmas and before the 4,8.
I went to Lickety's list and it has three 4,4 in a row after Christmas and before the 4,8. I only have two of the 4,4 and am so frustrated.
I think you're missing french for black merk
merk you are missing french black - a film no**
OK, I check that out.
merk, black in french--no**
no* woman's name??
ankh change the last letter of nothing for a different vowel
Yes, yes, it's the french word for black. ty, ty, ty!
I knew it had to be something odd to me.
Well now, we all should be finished with 'no'.
Merk door handles without the k
KTH, the Scots nothing?
Yes, those are the jokers in Cribbage.
Oh that one is a 4/6
AH! got it (the woman)
the other nothing starts with we are playing babble no* + cross letter
Yeah, Tinks, that's the Scots nothing. :) Like "naught" but not.
.....as in owt for no4/8
OOOOPS
how many words today?
152 words
152 gobraves
152
NICE quilt, Frances!
ty
What's the woman's name?
the not any word with a different vowel on the end
Got it, thanks
Thyank you Ankh it is a silk quilt I've just finished. A copy of an antique one.
I'm still missing an F, I have 1fr the rest fe
Well, it looks like a real labor of love.
Hey! That stuff yolu stick in your AC to make it cold isn't a word?
If you po**** someone, you go to pr**** because you are a po****** who has just become a fe***
I just love doing them. I'm sitting here now working on one for my little granddaughter for Christmas.
<LOL> Merk
lol merk can you make up some like that for the words I don't have already?
and dang, I got all that!
The last ai5,10,clue please?
hey, don't knock it, KT, I still needed those words
Wow, Merk, that's excellent.
Frances, did you say the quilt in your icon is made of silk? It is lovely
ankh the last one I have is the rows in a supermarket
Ank - what you walk down to get married
Laurel, thanks!
before you get mad and follow Merk's clue ramble
Hey Ypsi are you around?
lol klaurel
Yes Annie. I'm a glutton for punishment as I do them entirely by hand. I have three on the go at the moment.
trust me, I feel mlike doing to my husband for leaving me with the kids and going off to work while I am really really sick! :( though I know its the hormones talking
how old are your kids klaurel
have to go good night all

nope, especially with the fever and tight muscles, then you pull a neck muscle?
off to find a new icon pic. perhaps one of my cross stitch projects
in addition to the probable bronchitis your husband thinks you have and insists you go see the doctor, but then you have to drive yourself (and the 3 year old) there because he is at work?
Aaawww I hope you feel better soon
gonna see doc and get happy drugs
and on that note, have to take child to school
no rest for the moms!
Metal & Frances, needlewomen to put the rest of us to shame!
bye klaurel
feel better, laurel
an4,4 and an7,28, my monkey fails me.
is freon a brand name, then? the grid doesnt accept it...
I don't think so Ankh. I just do it because I love doing it and it helps me relax. While you're juggling with your next design it makes you forget the not so good things that are happening in the world around you!
an+ to be, then add spanish cheer
I am missing the second pr 5,12 and presumably its plural. Help plez
Eva, that's what someone else tought. KTH, I'll try...
Whoa, got it, thanks!
merk I only have 1 pr5/12, it's the virus one
absolutely true Frances!
it's definitely my happy place.
virus?
I have a 5,12 that is the plural of the first 4,5
before, or pr* convictions, change the last letter
Does it end in a vowel or consonant?
consonant
ML Love your icon - very bargelo-ish
Then is the pr 6,21 following it connected somehow. It can't be plural because we've already used the s.
you must have found a different one then, the one I have is plural
tyvm Frances. it is based on the game of "pool" or "billiards", lol
PR5/12 is singular (not using the S) add the S on the end for the 6/21
I started in one corner, then proceeded to an edge... then "banked" when I hit the edge... continued on that way, changing colors as I ran out of various flosses.... until at the end I finished up in another corner.
the white bits are unworked aida
ahah merk I think I see what you've got now, swap the first vowel from the word you found, then add a consonant and plural it
I hope that made sense
if not, just ignore me, I think I've confused myself
I am entirely self taught and started making quilts just because I wanted to know how to do it. I bought a whole lot of different black and white cotton prints and started and this design just sort of evolved. I finish up with a full sized bed quilt and I was hooked.
I'm totally stuck with 41 to go, this grid is awful
Evanadine, then I'm stuck.
Can you describe the 4th letter of the pr 5,12?
it's a circle merk
it runs along the bottom of the grid then up for the last letter
And back to the right for the plural 6.
What in the world does it mean?
pr + an atom
something to do with a virus, it causes mad cow disease
wow frances that's a much better clue than everything I said
It is also a type of sea bird - a petrel
No wonder I have not heard of it. We read news articles about the disease, but the virus is never mentioned
I love this game. I learn so much.
ok, im missing Merk's PR now...heh
It really is a great game. As far as I'm concerned it keeps the old grey cells ticking over and the inevitable at bay!!!
KTH, 43 to go here, and I think I need to take a walk. BBL, y'all. :)
anyone have the Es from the top corner, I managed to find one of them but the rest???
Bye Ankh
That's why I do it. My mother died of Alzheimer's and I want to keep all of mine intact.
bye ankh, enjoy
Mine too Merk

Yes, hetty, add a small version of an off-shore piece of land.

Only 779 to go . .
7's - an, pi, pl and re x 2
gooooo Tor
69 left here
Tor must be playing another Babble w/779 to go!
I think he means points...
It's Vulcan Babble . .
...or maybe not...
Thank goodness!
pity it's not like Iron Sudoku where you can play old puzzles you haven't played before...
you mean that those star wars aliens?
;)
Star TREK, TO...
; D
I wouldn't want to play Babble against a Vulcan... or sudoku for that matter...
I so suck at sudoku
pity me...I live with a Vulcan...
:O i go off to play set and look what happens. at least sherb was here to stand up for truth, justice and the american...er... english way
Good morning to all on this fine Fall morning. (5 degrees and snow on the ground)
I live with a Klingon
I have tried to learn to play sudoku and just can't figure it out.
Can someone clue me on the pl7,32?
hey metal...I'll take your klingon...if you'll take Pointy Ears
expl7, kaboom!
interesting, daisy... and metal...
fireworks
Most women who are married, or have a boyfriend live with a Klingon. (They just don't know it)
maybe we could share the two between us? that way we'd both have the best of both worlds
pl7 - something blows up, but without the ex-
hoooray Angelsong!
Yaaa Angelsong
yay Angel!
Hooray angel!
Congratulations Angel*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
woohoo Angel :D
werks fer me Metal :)
ty
my Klingon is kind of part Klingon and part something gentler... has a very tender side, but his automatic first response to most situations is fight/conquer/kill if possible
cool,
an7,28?
mine usually just stands there and stares...but you know he's thinking...
hi all, clue for the er6 please
See. Like I said. We're all Klingons. Some show it on the surface, some hide it a little deeper.
an7/28 - extend the an4/4 flavouring with a Spanish cheer.
er6/30 - a word that has been used before. That's the clue....
how old is your Vulcan? my Klingon's about ten years younger than I... he's only 38 (although he does sometimes say living with me is aging him fast)
my Vulcan is 55, going on 70
Thank you Haz. That was my last 7
I don't get your clue Haz
cool, good age range between the four of us then since you and I are close in age
and he's picked up a nasty human habit...he smokes...so if that bothers you like it does me...you don't want him.
The er word ends in the present time (three letters). The beginning of the word is an oldfashioned term for before.
nair isn't a word? lol
thanks Haz got it
ewww smoking. still, between you, me and the Klingon... I"m sure we can "convince" him to quit
daisy... metal... one slight problem... you're over a thousand miles apart...
io6,18?
That's good, periwinkle.
and if words don't work, there's always the handcuffs and shackles
true sherb, but that can be overcome
io6/18 - make the positively charged io4/4 singular, then add a number
Don't believe I've ever seen that word before. TY
I've tried everything I know to make him quit, and finally just gave up. I was invited to our friends' house, 2 hours away, with him last night, but wouldn't go bcs of it. and told him that's why I wasn't going. He didn't say a word, just went off w/o me.
I quit smoking 33 months ago today...
That's a phrase could be used often in babble, mkl!
good for you Matty!
en6,18?
has he always been a puffer? or is this a recent aberration?
hoooray matty!!!
en6/18 - add a small piece of off-shore land
lol he's been at it since he was 12 and started makng his own money, so it's ingrained.
can't see either of the NA words
na4/4 is a babblet, na5/10 is almost Niles Crane's ex-wife
may have to pass up all that intellect then... I can't abide smoking. I know it's someone's own choice whether or not to indulge, but the smell literally gags me and I'm allergic to the smoke.
ty again Haz. You're the quickest clue in the isles
Haz, which babblet is the na4/4?
And you've just said a word.....
my agreement metal
na4/4 - a temple.
Oops. Off to the penalty box.
I see the Hawaiian bird is back in the grid today
It's pumpkin pie in the penalty box today
eww...no penalty box for me then...will be good, promise
thanks Haz, took me a while to remember Nile's ex-wife
Grrrrrr, if dictionary.com has the "nostril" why won't "the dictionary" accept it.... esp. when it does take the plural
Very thin, very Caucasian was once the description given of her!
I also have a chocolate cake with raspberries between the layers and smothered in ganache.
Charm that cake sounds scrumptious!
ok I'll take the cake, ty :)
Once, Roz mistook MA*** for a a hatrack. until it moved.

So what are all the icons by people's names...flag is country, obviously...how did you get those icons there?
ugh. I could use help with the en first 3 words.
not that I care but I'm in egypt so it would be cool to have an egyptian flag!
You need to go Pro Carol ..
en6/8 is like "enclose" only to put in an island...using a poetic alternate word for island
when you go pro, Carol, you get your flag and can put a picture in the icon space
Cairo you get a flag when you bcome a pro!! the icon themes are listed by babbler
thanks cairo
what makes you a pro?
find out more in Angelsongs page
thanks inge
got the rest
the cost is now $1499 for LIFE
...and thanks caitlin
put a dot between the 14 and the 99
is that 14.99 or 1499.00

Hello KL
Hi klaurel.......Im fine and you?
hi, lady!
a clue please for WO6/30
Haven't made it that far Flask
Flask... think the victor in a fight, but change the vowel appearing first in the word
looking, flask......
wo6/30 is just like the noun meaning the person who is victorious in a game but you change the first vowel to the one you usualy get in the past tense!!
An alternate spelling for the person who comes in first
thanks metal -- another imaginary word?
**waves hi to all who've arrived while I've been watching tv and such
thanks all!
it certainly sounds like one, doesn't it nan?
I wonder if the creators of enable really speak english?!
I dont think so cyber
Hiya Metal
I suspect they were the ones knocked out of the spelling bee
lol c-nan
hi lady
metal i love your icon

ty caitlyn, it's a piece I stitched up to use the bits and pieces I couldn't bear to just toss away

I suppose freon is a proper noun

wow metal that is facinating - started from the middle and worked out? What sort of size?
I started just off one corner, and worked inwards in "circles" .... well, sort of circles , until I got to the end in the middle
metal its lovely
about 8" x 10" maybe a bit less
although it wasn't intended, I even ended up with my initial along one side, twice
Love it!
opera singer, doesn't do it , but thanks anyway
anyone can do something like this! you just make it up as you go along so there's no possible way to do something wrong
metal - thats fabulous. I do a bit of embroidery but nothing like that
oh -- got it -- the song, not the singer!
Thats what I love about free style, no one can tell if you meant it or not :)
JFB... you should give it a shot. after all, it's only X's on fabric
can also be a movement in an oratorio or a symphony
choose colors you like and go for it
eo 5/10 help?

Mrs. Way the clues refer to number of letters in the word, with number of total points for the word -- So for example, an5/10 is a word that starts with the letters 'an', is 5 letters long, and is worth a total of 10 points.
os6/18 is someone who looks after horses in an inn or hostler
ooops holstel
sorry damn typing
Each tile on the grid has a point assigned to it -- for example, the P has a 2 under it and is worth 2 points in any word that uses a P
os6/18...someone who tends horses
Oh...okay. I get it. Thank you.

clue for pi7/32 please
Finished my first day at the new job today, and so glad to be home babbling... I know I'll learn everything and be okay, but starting a new job is always a little challenging for me self-esteem wise. So at least with babble I feel a little more confidence! :)
van cliburn is a pi*****
pi7...one who plays a musical instrument
sorry chj, never heard of that person
liberace; victor borge; billy joel; elton john all play pi and are pi7's
thanks for the clue though chj and everyone else
ch1212, I know exactly what you mean. I also find a new job difficult, especially the first few days. I'm sure you will settle in pretty soon though, and all the best.
pl 7/32 please?
ex pl - big bang
Thanks, bittong. I'm going to dinner tonight with my husband to celebrate, so that will be a treat. In fact, with 12 left, I want to finish before he gets home... so I'm diving in :)

Negative chatter is so destructive. If the grids were easy, the challenge would not be there.
The boy moved, so I have both hands free and clue again, if needed.
i'm not being negative
Which boy, Tea? Your baby?
yep - he was nursing, but now he is just sleeping
i actually had the root word just didn't think to try and throw er on it
Where did that come from Egg? I have been off and on for a bit, so I'm not following
Aw sweet. How long will he sleep for now?
who knows - he didn't get a real nap today as we went to a Halloween party, and Dad and sis are off at sis's dance class. Dinner is in about 45 minutes, so he has to be awake then. Plus, he'll never sleep tonight if he sleeps too long now.
It's 5:15 pm here
I remember those days too well even though my youngest is now 22.
Hi, everyone. I'm back for what I hope will be my last round of Babbling ...for today, of course. I still have to find 12 of those well hidden words.
it's hard with the 3 yo - she doesn't nap anymore, so the little guy misses an afternon nap, a lot!
Yes, 5.15 is an awkward time for him to take a nap.
Hi, purple - we're here to help!
hi, purple. Can we help?
Hubby works graveyard shift, so I can get a head start on sleep with the 3 yo while the little guy stays downstairs with dad and then dad brings him to me (usually, hopefully, asleep) when he leaves for work at 11.
Does he usually sleep through the night?
bah! Neither one of them do! It drives me nuts, but it is getting better.
the last fr5/16?
oh yes, now I remember you telling us about it previously. It will improve.
fr*** Jacques
fr ---and the poetic before
I have noticed a definite improvement in the three yo, so I have hope!
Thanks Bil and Tea - I have to work on the PIs - I only found those three related to music.
She usually only wakes one time and quiets back down rather quickly.
Tea are you going to be around for a while? If so, I will be off. It is 1.20 am so I had better try and get some sleep. I should have your kiddies because I am a poor sleeper.
There are two more that are similar - pi 4/5 - take the vowel off the instrument and them plural it.
I'll be here until dinner - about another 1/2 hour or so - sweet dreams!
ty. Enjoy everyone! See you tomorrow.
Oh Oh !! thx tea - have to see what it means.

Tean, are you still here? sorry, I told you... it's busy at work tonight. ;)
Actually, folks, with a Dane on your bed you do some hooshing and if they get uncomfy they are polite enough to get off and sleep beside the bed. At least that's what ours did over the years.

Lebron James is in a commercial with his younger self, and two of his older selves...it's quite interesting, but I don't even know what they're selling...shoes I think...

what you walk down in your wedding
Thanks TeaNCrackers!Just did that about a year ago
Does anyone have a clue for the an 7/28 word please
cool - congrats! We have 5 years in January - plus we were dating for five before that!
an + vowel + the bottom of your shoe
We were engaged for 3 years and were dating for 4 years before that. I already felt married when I got married. And now we are starting to look for houses.
same with us - about feeling married.
People still ask me now how it feels to be married. It felt the same the day after we got married as it did the day before we got married. Only thing different was that we that piece of paper and my husband got my insurance. But married life is pretty great so far!
Dear One and I have been living in glorious sin since, hmm...close to six years now. Plus courting for two years before that. Good evening, everyone! Tea, Minver, everybody. 41 left.
Hi Ankhorite! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
I was out of work when we got married and I needed insurance, so we got married (mostly to cover birth control) and then we got pregnant (on purpose) about nine months later ;)
Hi, Ankh!
Hiya, Min. We're in the same boat on insurance; his employer, who laid him off TODAY, covered me as a domestic partner (and will do so through January). But after that... ? We may be forced to marry. :(
well.. we are with you Ankh.. glorious sin for 21 years...
(Same boat as Tea, I meant!) Oh, you GO, Cal! :)
My husband's sister has been w/the same person for 20 years, has two children with him, but not married.
Nice tattoo.
California doesn't recongize domestic partner for insurance unless it is a same sex partnership...
figure...
hey ankh - check out ths icon for tomorrow - http://www.fiddlesticksdallas.com/imag es/krinkles/halloween/2005/a-orn2.jpg
meant go figure...
I KNOW, and California needs to be sued about that; it is flat-out sex discrimination. I volunteered, but Dear One didn't want to risk it...
Hi calmunid! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
drives me crazy... abolutely discrimination!
yeah, well - Nevada doesn't recognize anything, thus having to get married for health insurance
nice typing.. been a long day and still 72 to go...
KYOOT, Tea! You always find me the best pix. I was just gonna wear my bunny ears...
*nodding at Tea*
I really like your hamster, but I like to see him change it up a bit (or is it her?)
Yeah, well, that's more legally defensible than California's position. Tea, it's me: the hamster is a her!
My husband had insurance when we got married, but then he quit his job and had to go on my insurance. I had better insurance.Tried to put my him on mine as soon as we got married, but my employer wouldn't let me since he already had insurance.Makes me wonder if he quit his job just to get my insurance! (No, J/K!)
How do you like me now?
okie dokie - I got it now. I am going to have to put kiddos to bed in about 10 minutes - can I give any more clues?
Tea, I need FORTY-ONE, so give up on me, tuck 'em in! :)
Yes TeaNCrackers!I need ar 6/18 please if you have!

Thank you, Tea! But I love the one you found, too. Yeah, Minver, I've been talking and not looking.

Hebrew lion, Spanish bear.
I tried telling them that it was against the law, but they said it was company policy&the union approved it.Anyway, it worked out in the end. We both have it
Does anyone have a clue for the bo 5/14 word please

Sucks. Insurance companies own Congress & the state legislatures; takes a real scandal to force them to change.
