Must have been fascinating -- there is a beautiful "Shrine of the Book" at the ISrael Museum in Jerusalem with a permanent exhibit.
yes, it was wonderful! and there were artifacts, and descriptions of what life was like for the Jewish people in those days. I loved it. The kids enjoyed it, and Tom was really into it, too.

hello, the soup has to simmer for an hour so I'll babble
But there were some nice hands-on exhibits too -- that demonstrated the difficulty of piecing together thousands of tiny fragments of documents of unknown meaning and chronology... what really got me were the bits of pottery from the Qumran community. little bits of daily life, left behind when they felt necessary to leave. I wonder what will be left when we are gone...
