thanks nan
I was asking -- couldn't remember -- haven't found a ve 9
oh...
opps
no, I said ve7
ugh - i always go for the icon too early - there's some good ones in here
did someone say ex7? If not... ex7
and ex 8 hugs
major phantom: exponents
phantom - menace
co7

yeah, I know that the ex8 had been said previously
i just found that one helen, wow that was weird

D:
I have 14... and the highest is re7/36
yea! amiku
hah - i am 1/2 way with only 4 7's, 1 8 & zero 9's - big words, not my strong suit :(
late flip -- hi all!
Hi jilli
hi jilli
hi jili!
helen: 7 letters is my version of big.
hery jilli
amiku, i just the re7/36 just now, so don't feel bad
D:
Small words are my speciality >.>
hi jilli
amiku - i hear that!

I keep seeing venom. but its a phantom and it really irritates me
I'm with you on that one Amiku
still no ex- words yet : (
Just got my first 9! Woot!
corps - you must be very precise
corps: just got one
can someone explain to me the icons. They seem to change each day?
That's part of the fun, salmo...
thanks hug! At fist I thought you were telling me that I must be a very precise person in real life so I was confused.
: )
Hi all! Kind of a sad day ... went to a viewing for a 51 year old...
what is a viewing, Volley?
is that like a wake?
thanks Douglas. Does that mean that I just go with my imagination that changes minute by minute?
.. visitation at a funeral home ... for family of someone who died
similar
Ah, OK. Sorry to hear that.
Well, not exactly, because there is a theme for each day, and people use their imagination in following the theme of the day...
ty....his dad, who is 74, really had a tough time... burying one of his sons...
Okay, how does one figure out the theme for the day?
It is a Babble custom that the Friday theme of the day is a word from the grid...
epox
bummer. mr bro-in-law just passed in Feb. He was 59. Then I was stuck in the northeast blizzard over valentine's day for three days. Not a great week.
salmo -- there is an icon theme every day -- see Lickety's page for Icon Themes. Today's (and every Friday's) is a word from the grid which will be a clue. I haven't got mine yet -- just got here. Click on the icons to see what they are and why.
Good thing that wasn't a word...
I'm gonna get going
see ya
exactly
Hi Jil!
hi dee or volley or whichever you prefer!
either is just fine!!
I tend to use both!
both work LOL
hello everyone - this seems a kind grid.
hi lynxx... I like it much better than yesterday!
volley & corpse - my condolesnces
Hello lynxxx!
ty Helen... it WAS pretty sad... He died the same day as his step grandmother... who was 91 (on Sunday)... sad day for the family
volley - i am going through the same thing right now - it is -so,so sad
hi jili
I empathize; I know your heart must ache... and as soon as you think you are on the mend, some memory, smell, thought tugs at your heart all over again
fo7
I think time helps, but I don't think you are ever totally healed
yep voll - that's so true -it was puff the magic dragon, on the radio yesterday - then you change the station & it's mama, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys
TY Hugs
the smell of oil of olay still makes me miss my own mom... it happens so quickly, it really takes you by surprise
volley - it's chanel #5 for me :) - but like you said, only time, it's been 20 years, so now it make me smile
hugs - the size of the type in a letter
how sweet!
ty for sharing that
morning all
hi sprite!!
hiya sprite!
morning all
hi MVA
hi sprite
how are you all doing today?
volley - you know, sometimes i feel like talking & other times not, it's nice to have someone listen & be empathic, tx
hi sprite - just leaving but wanted to say hi
Hi Sprite & MVA
good nite TO
totally understand, and I am certainly glad to listen; my mom died in 1990 and my dad in 1998, and I still miss them terribly; I sooo wanted to have them see our daughter grow into the lovely young woman she is now... it IS very nice to talk to someone who understands
*hugs TO* bye, sweet dreams :)
nite to and hi lynxxx
anytime you need to talk helen, feel free...I have a good ear
My dad passed away at the age of 44. I've always wondered what it would be like to have known him as an adult.
and a good heart, Dee :)
wow I bet hug! aww , dear sprite, love ya! ty
clue icon up -- po 6/27 :)
ty nan
lol, looks like I am going to learn a new word today, nan :)
tx voll :)
yw helen... me too sprite... having to ponder that one
hugabugs - that's so hard, how old were you when he died (i ask cause my parents had me late in life, my dad was 45 when i was born)
I was 20, and he died exactly 4 months to the day before my wedding.
nan - is that the same word that chic has in her icon - something to do with silk? (i don't know this word either sprite)
My brother was 14, one sister was 16 and the other sister was 19
yes it is a type of silk
that's tough, Hugs :(
oh hug, how tough that had to be for you
didn't know someone else had it too -- thought I was being quite original!!!
hugabugs - that's so sad, though it's good you were old enough to have formed mature memories of him - but how sad, right before your wedding
nan - hey it's original for me!
My Mom took it extremely hard... she ended up having a nervous breakdown.
I love the colors in your icon nana
nan lol
could I have a clue for the re 8-9 combo?
well
guess it's just re 8
I remember that kind of silk being very popular in pre-1939 Shanghai
re + spy (and pl)
must have added to your grieve and probably took away a lot of the opportunity to focus on your own grief, Hugs. Really tough :(
huga - you know i think that's a big problem, people aren't given enough space & time to feel the grief - there's all these other pressures too
TY C'nan for the po - though it took a bit to remember it
yw, lynxxx
totally agree... folks keep telling you to "move on" like there is a time table for grief and that time table is supposedly the same for everyone; that is nonsense
it's funny that we're talking about this. Today my Mom told me I'm a replica of my Dad.
what triggered that?
Is there a re 8&9 ? I have the re 7& 8.
how was it for you to hear that?
aargh!! i lost babble!
exactly volley - i couldn't agree more - i think that moving (any kind of move) is difficult enough in the first place, but moving through grief is moving through uncharted waters, and each death affects one differently, so the best way is to take your time, otherwise, you're not really dealing with it
re7x2 and re8
still puzzling over that re8/9 clue -- re + spy.
no it is re 7-8 -- a clue, please?
no re 9 --- my mistake, sorry
you know - spy --- like the song... Secret Ag*** man
I have an re6/7...
re + who helps Hollywood people find jobs, movies, shows
ty jilli -- got it -- better pass that fish in the grid this way
got to go now, happy babbling all!
good clue hug
re9, there is not one?
that's the re6/7 I have, hugs
re + Maxwell Smart was one (re7&8)
aww loved that show
Sprite - I felt proud to be like my Dad when she told me.
OH, I see -- an extra vowel!
re8 ... in the back, you will find the mens toilet
add a vowel to yours jil
yay jilli!
does anyone have the 9s?
huga- that's great your mom is around to tell you these things, must have made her feel much closer to you & vice versa too, sweet :)
very cool
CE9,FO9, GE9
ce 9, fo 9, ge 9
sorry cy... have a lag here
so frustrating, i can't find ANY of the biggies
hi helen, do you have the first ce6... you can get a 9 out of it
CE9 - Workers on the Hoover Dam were definitely these!
hi mrp
hah - i just got 4 of them - squeak wheel & all that, yay
and the second fo6 carries onto the 9
thanks, dee -- discovered I had the fo9 -- forgot to add an s!
hey mrP :)
hi all!!!

phantom: gnome
how do you help a hotel guest who is too drunk to remember his room number AND his name
hahaha! of course saph... if he is good looking.... send him to your room!
pin the information on his sleeve like you do a preschooler lol
hey Helen. I would just like you to know that I remember your parents "heart & head" vividly. I have told so many people about that and what it means. It has great meaning for me.
LOL mrP! Tell him to pay in advance and charge double? Might sober him up.
I don't have a room - I work here - and no he was not good looking or good smelling !
lol Dee - I pretty much did that once I found out where he belonged
tell him that he is in the wrong hotel! suggest he try the one down the road
Ask for some id?
he couldn't find his wallet
lynxxx - wow, thanks, you just gave me shivers :)
mrp that would mean sending him out driving in that condition - that would not be good at all :)
Looks good, mrp! They seem to mention using Social Stories, of which Attwood speaks quite highly...
ax7/52 and sp8/55
let the police escort him to his new home LOL
:) It's all good I had security walk him upstairs and put him to bed
ty for the ax sprite didn't have that one
that would be frustrating... saphy...
more precise...
the unused X was bugging me, lol. Got some uses for it now.
yes doug... he responds well to social stories
lol
ax7/52 cytoskeletal structure
SP8/55 Neil Armstrong was one of these
ax6/36.... scary movie stuff
lol mrP
They could just be good-natured lumberjacks...
but you won't know until it is too late...
lol
only if it is untrue
Sprite, did those clues help?
gotta go make dinner for the tribe and extra kids that got dragged into the car after school... why do they insist on having half a dozen friends over on a friday night??
because it is better than a dozen, they are thinging of you lol
because for them it is fun, mrP :) Good luck with the tribe and extras. Hope you can enjoy the madness :)
bye mrp :)
'cause they know you need amusing ! bye MRP enjoy
don't need clues for words I just posted in the log, so no
bye mrp - have fun !
back with a new icon
we have 4 on xbox, 3 on computers and 2 dancing to karaoke.... ah the joys of modern living!! bye all!
yay jilli, a word I know!
I thought you were asking for clues
oh phooey, thought I was being mysterious :D
no, I wasn't, if I would I would say please! But thanks anyway.
BBL
you are, jilli, you are! I am still working on that silk icon, which eludes me, so I was glad to see a clue icon that worked for me :)
bye lynxxx

jilli: ax + number + not you but **
I want Ventress. But that's being a SW geek. and hi all :)

hey atalante
Ventress? Isn't he in Heartbeat, Ata?
lol Jade - according to enable it is. And we all know what that's worth...

hello doug
dee///one of the f
Hi doug
dee, one of the f's in the top right corner
fa 4/8 x 2; fa 5/18 I see my fa** in the mirror; it has been cold and snowy here, and that is the truth or a fa** (then plural)
Hello jilli...I'm time slicing between email, blog feeds, and Babble...trying to get just one word at a time seems to help...
nice...thanks....
also lettertype(s)
and dandies
yw ... tata all; have a great Friday !!! hugs to all; *poof*

Can someone clue me one word from the first e in the 4th row?
sorry, not middle, measure!
*poof*
sprite, I get as far as 3 letters for that one! :D Will try harder, tho
jilli - add the measurement to the 3 letters then make it plural
geometers
yup:)
eek!!!
hehe
looks about right! :P
actually I had worked it out before seeing the measurement clue and was so excited I ...well, you know what I did *hangs head in shame*
awww....'s ok jilli

no shame.... nope, no shame
awww, thanks, youse guys
awww jillibus dont worry :)

thanks lynxxx
I just got two of them, and I'm so excited!
or eg5 + 6 type of bird
thanks jilli
2 ea5.14 - just invert the last 2 letters
Yes, but that eg5 is not connected to the e next to the g under the o

Looks like a reasonable sized grid, but those late alphabet letters are well represented!
it's a nice grid
That's what I like to hear.
i guess we all see it differently, i don't see this grid flow at all

yay, finally remembered it, thanks saph
i don't get it saph
andree, it ends like the russian plains word, tai**
Andree - it's an anagram of a word meaning 'huge' or a word meaning what you do to cheese to get it smaller.
and thx for om word saph
eat it, lol
That's one interpretation!
lol
lol andree
Shalom Everyone -- good morning

Bye Andree
See ya, Andree
I just noticed that Babble added a short-cut to themselves, on my desktop....Has anyone else noticed that????
ge8.55, some hints please
I hadn't pida, no.
ge8 - ge plus a vowel then a unit of measurement
Happy Birthday to Me ............singing. My love just left me a very nice message in my Email,he's so sweet! Hi All!:) :)
Good morning and happy birthday, hodag.
Happy Birthday hodag
back again, happy birthday hodag
TY Haz ,Eva and Andree

Glad you found it, ricky.
pe5/16 please
pe5/16 - use three letters to write, and two letters to leave
brilliant clue
Thank you!
thx haz
You're welcome, Andree.
Good morning Babblers. I awoke at 4:46 with a migraine and I am here to relax as I could not sleep.
Eva, Pida and hodag--you are up early too.
Good morning Scrabbler - migraine is not nice, hope the light from the computer doesn't make it worse.
hi scrabbler, hope this grid doesn't make the head worse
I just need a distraction as lying in bed, feeling the throb was not helping.
I like your icon, Hazel, and it gave me 2 words as it is intended to.
sorry Scrabbler,I hope you feel better shortly!! I am trying to get use to being anther year older today ! :)
That's good - it's done its job, then.
Happy Birthday, hodag!!!
re7/36 please
Don't fret about getting older, it is better than the alternative.
re7/36 - re plus someone like James Bond who was secretive about his activities
re + ge 5/14
TY Scrabbler, the numbers sure are getting big ! :)
Or re7/36 - plural for re6/24 - a person appointed as interim ruler when the king is deemed too young to rule.
But, the number reflects experience and gathered wisdom. Would you want to be an adolescent or twenty-something again? Not me.
thx, have that lyn, need 2nd re7/36
Andree - it may be the plural appointee for government.
oops, have it sorry
I'd like my mature head on my young body. Can that be arranged?
It sure is. Dick said he was going to get me a cake with candles but,he thought the fire department would have to come out to put out the fire!!
lol, hodag
I am still looking for that option, Hazel, but it works backwards, doesn't it. Our bodies peak at 25-30 or so, and our minds take longer.
No I wouldn't want to do it all over again,I agree Haz. lol
TY Andree :) lol
I certainly could do a better job of taking care of my body.
But look how well we're looking after our minds....
I think we all feel that way but we have to remember "life is good" !
Amen, Hazel!
Life is full of blessings!
it is scrabbler
ve5/20 please
Didn't we enter some of these same words yest or the day before?
Yes, some are familiar, you're not going mad.
And I have them,Dick,my girls, and my grandchildren. It doesn't get any better then that!! :) :) :)
ve5/20 - usually preceded with re to indicate some sort of reciprocal punishment
Often the grids merge into one another, or maybe that is because I spend so much time in Babble Land.
morning 6a
And we love your little mousey, hodag. He kills me!
Haz use photoshop to do fhat!!!
TY Scrabbler he is a trip! :)
hi eva - how cold is it there?
Photoshop? You've lost me...
What will he say for your nirthday, hodag? The other day he said to Inge2--"Holy, Inge, you are old, you are in your 70s!"
*birthday
-24, but it's going to get up to 18 today, and then be in the 40's by Sunday, with rain and sleet. They are very worried that the river in downtown Montpelier will flood this weekend. Have published evacuation routes, etc.
That silly kid his mind never stops!
thx haz
We have the same concerns here, Eva---warming with flooding.
You're welcome, Andree.
Toput your head on the young shoulders photographically
Ah, I see. The only problem is that I don't have any digital photos of when I was young - nor a scanner. But it's worth bearing in mind!
all of the stores in town have emptied out their basements. Apparently this happened in 1992 and water in the streets was up to peoples' waists. No problem outside of town.
eva-yikes!
What a nightmare, Eva.
They've been emptying warmer water from the treatment plant into the river, hoping to free up the ice jam, but I guess no success.
Wow, Eva -- nightmarish
It doesn't mean that it will flood-it's sort of like pick up sticks I guess, and if we're lucky it will thaw without incident.
WE're suppose to get up to 40f today I can hardly waite. our area is concerned about flooding also, I am glad we live on a hill.
that reminds me of a thing in a book, only it was a log jam in that instance
So you must be a day or two ahead of our weather hodag
Hi hurshy! Are you doing well? Better than a week ago, right?
Taking a quick break - back shortly.
yes and no. better short term, not sure about long term.
Our weather can do anything at this time of year Eva!
just right weather for a nice bowl of c*****
Weren't you in Boston? Sounds like it was not as successful as hoped.
just the right weather for Hawaii
You are traveling through a "narrows" right now, when life is confusing and uncertain and transitional. We all pass through them, but they are tough, as we aren't quite sure where we are going.
well, ARB, i realized that the timing was not right, so i didn't move.
just the right weather for Hawaii
off to check the news-back soon
It turns warm and then we'll get anther snow storm after that it will turn warm and stay that way.lol
greetings

Scrabbler, I have just started reading Memory Keeper's Daughter. SO far, it is great. She just had the babies.
Morning Une
i fell asleep
nate was on after that
Hi Hurshy, all settled in?
no, i decided not to leave now after all.
i'm fairly new... and not too sure how to pick up on the hints... re7,36, what does it mean?
I could NOT put that book down, and I finished it in less than a week. But, I would have chosen a different ending. Anyway, it is so well written
Doing just fine Scrabbler, 60 degrees today. How are you?
Eeerik--scroll down to Angel's site and lickety's clues
***must take Evelyn Wood's speed reading course to see what the ending is***
I awoke at 4:46 with amigraine, so I took meds, drank coffee, started laundry, and hit babble!
these s's are icky
eerik-re7/36 means a word beginning with re that is 7 letters long and worth 36 points. For more, follow scrabbler's suggestions.
So sorry, Scrabbler, is your migraine better?
except for the final frontier, of course...
annother, do you still want re6? It's the name of a park in London, refers to royalty.
There are many possible endings for the story, but I was not satisfied with the one she chose
Hurshy, I am sure that is best for you right now.
yeah, i think so.
My head is not throbbing as much. I thought my right eye ball would exit my cranium.
Scrabbler, I'll let you know when I am finished with it
I do wish you well in what ever you decide to do
thanks.
found it finally hillary thanks anyway
Scrabbler, I hope you don't have to work today.
hurshy, I feel bad that 1 wk ago I was pushing you to forge on despite your uncertainties. I was trying to support you, but this is all your decision to make, and a tough transitional time.
oh, don't feel bad. i have really appreciated all the support. it was a tough decision to make, and, well, life is tough. don't feel bad.
Mom, I play tennis at 9, then every Friday is "Lunch & Psychotherapy" with a close tennis buddy.

They don't, hursh, but I feel so much better when cleanly shaven

I feel like a Neanderthal woman if I don't shave

Wolvie, with my thick Sicilian hair growth, I encounter lots of WIND resistance!

Not bad, Eva, but I love being smooth and shaved. Do you shave? Some woman don't bother.

thanks haz
Just back from a walk with the dog - good timing since the rain is about to start again!
Can I have a clue for the ce9?
did you have as nice a walk as we had earlier?
ce9 - those who use ce6/24 to join things
OOps. NM, just found the ce9.
It was fine, Atalante - took the cemetery route...

all done
did you see the gorgeous liver-and0white Welsh springer at Crufts yesterday?
geez, what is this O???
congrats, instantfame
thx
I wish I knew!!
I caught the tail end of Crufts, Atalante and saw this magnificent creature going through his/her paces. Must watch tonight again.
fe5/18?
clue for ge9?
there are little vids to download on the BBC Crufts site - one for each day with the "highlights". worth a look for the spaniels etc yesterday!
I'll do that, Atalante.
fe5/18 - a sword fighting boundary

i'm assuming you mean other than the basis for a whole buncha words...
3 fo 4; 1 fo 5; 2 fo 6; 1 fo 7; 1 fo 8; 1 fo 9
yup. enemies ...
good grief again.
back for the last few....
re7/36 - re plus the sort of person James Bond is secretly

You're welcome.
ax6/36 Paul Bunyans
fo6/30 - gender specific enemies
fo6/30 enemies
ok, so that leaves 3 C and 5 P for me. (those were on opposite sides of the same block on my blocks as a tot)
aaahhh, thanks all!
the ax7/52 is stumping me.... it MUST begin with the same 5 letters as the ax5's bbefore and after it.... but what then???
4 ca; 9 ce; 15 co
anagram of ne4/5
Then it adds a personal pronoun.
found it! :)
wahoo, i need co's

heh! I haven't any ca's.... *goes hunting*
co's .... where are yooooou?
well, i found one, two more to go
4 pa; 11 pe; 8 po
Don't forget your French short story (co5)
the co4/6 are chasing the co4/5 and they just hit a traffic co4/5!!
2 here too
lol une
if we have policemen, why cant we have co*men?
harem ready chickens
swap last 2 letters of gently persuade
nudeg?
bludgen with a pointy stikc?
Because the rogues have stolen the extra n that would be needed, Atalante
that too! I wanted *whispers* co - p - men! policemen! LOL
lol, no, i'm talking about co4s
co4/10 - gently persuade, Lizzie Borden style
and there are 3 co5/16 that are same but for last vowel.

what the heck, how hard can it be to find the four, at the very least.
2897
thanks, i'll keep that in mind
ok, there's the four.
pa 4?
no, i thought i'd put in the writing implements but it wasn't in.
sc5/12. I have the location and the aroma. Help with the other one please.
just found the five - writing implement + green light means...
lovely with cream nad jam gramma
sc5/12 - as eaten with afternoon tea.
ty
so it must be... p6/27 and 7/32... i think.
are there 2 or 3 T5s?
pe 6 --- chickens ***k + a decade
There are 3 t 5 words
yay! scallops!
thanks Haz
You're welcome.
*continuing to steal clues* down to 39 and haven't opened the list. A first for me. Woohoo.
aaaaaaaaack
aHA!
got the 7.
so that just leaves that pesky 6/27.
There is no pe6/27 - there is a po6/27
i never claimed it was pe :)
ok, that is helpful
t5 ... t5 ... *ponders*
I know - I just claimed that you claimed it in my head.
lol
po 6 -- body of water: po** and command to a horse
done.
but without the D
Atalante - rearrange the letters of what you do to cheese to make it small, or what you say about something that is big.
te5/14 that is.
are there 2 t5/14?
po6/27 - looks like a french version of malodorous (or noisome to use another favourite)
There's te5/14, the pace at which music is played
te 4/14 has to do with music speed
te 5/14 that is
got that, got older children, sure I'm missing somethin obvious!
3 t5's as far as I can see ata
two 5/14, yes
te 5/14 -- to lamebaste someon is to *e**le them
st5, 10 and st6, 27 pls
The te5/14 anagram of Chaplin's Dictator?
stege
st5/10 - shortened version of old fashioned term for a typist
I'm not that old, Haz! :P
sorry - monkeyed wrong
Haz, with your superior inguistic skills and British beckground, can you please tell me of co6/27 where the expression co****eels comes from?
got it! yay! firewords!
st 6/27 man's name with double vowel in middle
hurray ata!!!
Haz again = you star
wahoo Ata!
Good question, hetty - I'll have to do some research on that.
And well done, Atalante!
the eel's scientific name is co6 - its from the greek meaning lumpy
lumpy eel!!!??? lol!
Don't bother. Just curious, Haz. Language fascinates me so. My guess would be a place, but the dear knows where it is
most marine eels have lumpy looking heads
is that what you were asking, hetty?
It's the genus name for the eel. Comes from congridae.
they're a delicacy here in holland...
congridae being the family. Who want to think about a family composed of eels???
they do taste nice
They sure don't look nice...
actually, Haz, the co6 is the original. the family name is then derived from the genus name
O.K.ooked it up--its a family of eels noted for the prouberance on their heads.Atlante is quite right. Thanks, both
um yeah, I'm a marine biologist :P I know too much about eels!
Thank you, Atalante - you're much better versed in these things than I am!
but I don't think I'll try the flavour thanks
its a waaaaaay old name, don't know who described it first but the description been around for ages. people liked describing marine things as lump way back then
it's more or less like a mixture of squid and herring...
Babbler - Shaun the sheep is on.
I came I saw I co******
lump fish, lumpy eels, lump corals, lumpy everything
lumpy as I am
lumpfish tastes nice too. and their eggs
lol hetty! bash someone over the head with a bludgen and that's what you get
lumpfish never got a better name then?
nope. still lumpfish, poor things
Everything in nature is lumpy ....
lumpy oatmeal
I still bear the scars from being bitten by a co6 eel many years ago. horrid lumpy thing.
they could at least give them spelling a tweak, make it more intersting. Like: lummpheesh
one lump or two?
oh dear ata! was that during your research?
lol, hi there - and hello!
lurmpfish
... and you could've taken a bite out of him too...!
no actually. was helping out at Bristol Zoo cleaning the fish tanks - they were huge and you had to use scuba kit to get into them properly. they had 1 nice eel, and 1 - um - problematic eel ... and that day he was VERY problematic!
I'd never have thought eels had characters... pitbull eels... hmmm
eels are mean. give me a shark over an eel any day
but yes, eels are very much individuals!
Really? maybe that's why they eat them over here... eat them before they get you, sort of thing!
I love eating eels. It's my continued revenge!
got CE9 and GE9 -- hints on my other 9?
Does that not proove some sort of intelligence or consciousness or something...
LOL ata! Go for it! :)
fo9 - those who promote restlessness or revolution
FO9 eva
for a fish, eels are pretty intelligent. they certainly watch you while you're near, and come close for a better look, and often swim behind you for a while. *shudder* they are the only thing underwater that really freaks me out!
don't get the st6 clue
thanks -- had the non-person versions :)
What makes them bite people? (apart from them having a bad day...)
st6 - first three letters of the feast when Good King Wenceslas ventured out, combined with Adam's partner.
actor St**** Martin - with double vowel
also got CE8, EX8, FO8, GE8, and RE8 -- whats my missing 8?
having a bad day ... they can be really grumpy. also the normal stuff - people sticking fingers in their holes, trying to hold them etc etc
sp8
sp8/55 - forerunners of Buzz Lightyear
thanks con, have a blind spot where that v is concerned
I can sympathise with grumpy eels. *lurking*
thanks haz -- toss me a fish! or with this conversation, maybe an eel??
just like people really. I'd lash out at anyone trying to do such stuff to me without my permission!!!
yw pabtrek
hiya babbler. :)
hi evanadine. : )
too right! most animals will react to such things! but eels can just be grumpy. they can be little sh*ts
No fish needed, eva - and eels are off!
How do dolphins react to eels?
I have no idea! I can't imagine they interact too much, eels tend to stay in their holes or lurk along the sea bottom. happy dolphins stay in the open water
ah - oceans apart... not surprising really.
I've got a wonderful video clip though of some idiot dive instructor in egypt pulling one out of its hole by its tail for the "amusement" of his students. the eel turned round and chomped the heck out of his leg. served him right!
blimey :O
phone
dont piss off nature -- it bites back!
exactly, evan! I wish people would realise that!
Fireworks!
congratulations, Merk : )
yay merk!
ty
I must go for a bit. End of horror eel tales!
laters, Ata : )
So, let me tell you some tales of mad bulls and psychotic sheep..... (only joking)
oh, I missed Shaun The Sheep again! :'(
It was great - they were having a disco, the pigs invaded it and wrecked things.
LOL!! awww, can't wait for all the episodes to appear on YouTube. :D
It's just such innocent fun.
it's brilliant.
chat log's quiet today??
add on radio: Rod Stewart is playing here. I don't want to see the "improved Rod" I want the coked out rocker Rod of the 70's.
It was more lively earlier on, maybe we've hit US coffee time and British afternoon tea time!
Afternoon! Happy Fridays, no more work today :)
ah yes, could be, Haz. : ) Rod Stewart is pretty cool these days! Hi Fmitch! : )
Good afternoon FMitch! Happy Fridays, indeed!
I've had to reason to complain or grump about something everday this week, I'm so glad it's friday too. :')
Have you been having a busy work week, FMitch?
what am I missing? te 4x3, 5x 3, tr 4x1
Manic Haz but this afternoon is quiet.
There are 4 te 4 words
Good grid too, am determined to finish it.
That's good to get a break - have you started the grid or nearly through?
Not too far to go am pulling the list up. How are you getting on or are you done?
te 4/5, te4/4, te5/10, te 5/14, te 4/4.....
te4/6
te4/6 - a vowel short of the music pace
you know, I thought I had tried that one. ty haz
I'm finished, FMitch - found it quite a quick one with lots of sequences.
gym time... have a great day all!
Bye prism - exercising body and mind, you're an example to all of us!
Well done Haz Bye prism
{{{{Babbler!}}}} {{{{fMitch}}}} {{{{{{{ALL}}}}}}} hello
Had you noticed Faerie had been on a couple of days ago? Still happy in her job, enjoying being near family, and a tall dark handsome man in tow!
Hello stidmama!
stidmama!!! (((hugs))) lovely to see you.
*pout* I keep missing Faerie... good to hear she's well though! ;-)
{{{STID}}}
Good for faerie!!!!
She sounds really happy, only sorry that she can't get to babble as much.
WTG faerie, didn't know that, thansks Haz. A couple of days away from the chat log and you miss out on so much LOL
{{{JUDY}}} how's life? how's the weather? did you get the fireworks smell out of your bedroom? *giggle*
Somebody should be paid just to keep tabs on everyone and pass the news on.
still some charred wood Stid. LOL bitter cold but thnk goodness the snow seems to be slowly going away. week hasn't been too bad thank goodness. had a not-so-good last weekend. hoping this one is better. And you? What's new in the northwest?
we need a babble newspaper, Haz.
hey hey hey
nice icon thar stidy
{{{{NUT}}}} asked about you yesterday. how's the tooth?
i got me a root canal and vicodins
sorry about last weekend Judy... will keep fingers crossed for the coming one. We are okay, but stidkid#2 brought home yet another virus, so we are are yet again sitting around with hot tea and boxes of kleenex...
Yes, how is your tooth? We were worried about you.
And a bill?
That's Calico to ye, matey, ARRRR!
i told them that if they didn't do something i was gonna get arrested for otc toothache medicine abuse.
yes haz, a 500 dollar bill
Yes, nut is slowly turning into my parrot, bill and all...
stomach flu here in PA stid. I've avoided it so far. Hope it stays that way.
*more fingers crossing for Judy*
I heard the words "root canal" yesterday Nut.
Good grief. But then, what would you have been prepared to pay them to take the pain away?
thx stid
Hello again - do the big "g"s build off polite men
yes haz, was and did...and paying them to fix the work of what turns out to be a shoddy dentist that i was going to.
no ursh. think mathematics
tx judy - looking
ooh! good clue Judy! :-)
So, the moral of the story is, pick your dentist carefully. But how are you supposed to know?
and those are my first 8 and 9...
got them thank you
every month or so I give one stid. LOL
you can't haz, i had just picked one my insurance covered, my insurance doesn't cover this one.
the insurance never covers the GOOD ones!
exactly, so i'm thinking of dropping it
Well, that's not good, but at least you're out of pain - physically if not financially.
I'm missing the last te. May I have a clue, please.
so how are you feeling today?
t plus the 'therefore' word, but change the final vowel.
great...never slept in a long time like i did on that vicodin.
never had a more efficient root canal either.
glad to hear this doc was a good guy
TY. I had tried w/an o and an e, skipped the a.
You're certainly sounding less desperate than the other day.
yippee! grayed the top left tile!
me toooo! the only thing i'm desperate to do now is get all my homework assignments turned in in time.
lol stid!
way to go stid. keep plugging away!
Which is why you're babbling....
go nut go! arrrr
i'm on my lunch break! i needed a break. i'm doing the whole stupid team assignment.
Only teasing! My daughter is doing 'group projects' and gets uptight that SHE seems to be the group.
I hate working as part of a team... I always feel guilty that I am not pulling my own weight, or angry that I am carrying the others.
I need a kick start on the ax's. I got the 1st one and then came to a screeching halt. Can't seem to see another word.
i can prove i'm the group
that's the great thing about online courses
ooh! hi stid! I'm lurking, but just disappeared to reply to an email. : )
hi everyone just arrived while I was elsewhere : )
ax4/9 - ax plus the opposite of off. Then keep adding letters...
hi again Babbler! how's life for you these days? seems we're rarely on at the same time any more.
BABSYBOO!!!
ty
Thought we had lost you there Babbler
ooh, nutster! : )
babbsy, i try to send you emails, but i'm typingsomething wrong
I'm ok. I seem to have had a battle every day this week, and I'm absolutely spent. I'm switching my broadband provider soon. (haven't told my current one yet!) :s
are you remembering the '+' sign, nutster?
hi folks
oh that is so rough. Would be good to have one you can rely on.
good morning Takuma!
is + sign actually part of the address?? cause i didn't use it
Hi Takuma!
hello Takuma
Hello Takuma!
brb...tacos are ready....should be interesting
yes, it tells me your email comes from Babble. : )
right now we have two choices for connection: dialup or cable. Cable it is! :-)
mmm tacos!
false alarm
Everyone can stop dribbling.
*thinking about crunching tacos after root canal* is that a good idea Nut?
If she chews the hard bits on the other side she should be okay.... I one destroyed a tooth that had been root canaled with a teeny tiny piece of teeny tiny pretzel...
i'm gonna salad it cioca, get lots of filling juice on them.
oh, I was just going to ask you just that, nuts!
good girl, nut. Take care of that golden tooth!
oh! I passed halfway without realizing it!
well done. I was tempted to play, but I'm wiped out today.
WTG stid!
wow! this one is tough for me
go stid go
Hello fellow Babblers!
Babbler, hope you won some of the battles this week.
well done, stid!
I think I understand Babbler -- this is my first day to be at home ALL day this week (thanks to the sick kid)!
hello niamh!
too right, FMitch! The swords were drawn and I went to battle. :D
the babble pirate that she be
hi Niamh.
I have an opinion type question for you all
you go, Babbler! don't let them scalliwags off the hook! Keelhaul them! Avast! AARRGH!
Hi Niamh
I have all the ax words except the 6 any clues?
oh oh Niamh -- opinions are dangerous! LOL
arrrr, nutsterrrr!
LOL stid!
now tacos is ready!!!!
I've been researching dog breeds and trying to figure out what breed would be good for my family any one heard of a Swedish Vallhund?
guys that use the chopping tool, mcurlschool
*grin* I know it's confusing when I turn pirate...
be right there nut
I haven't, Niamh.
thanks for asking for the clue McCurl -- and thanks for the answer Judy!
Niamh - I've never heard of it.
ty, so obvious
I'm here to serve *bows*
UK babblers will know what this means - I got an apology from BT.... in writing!
mmmm cheesecake for breakfast. :-) yet another advantage of pirating!
I've talked to lots of people, this dog sounds ideal, but it's a rare breed so it's pretty costly
kinda looks like a mini German Shepherd
In writing? An apology? From BT? (Just checking for flying pigs over blue moons)
Hi morning pirates! Happy Get Over it Day!
Yes, Haz! :D:D:D
Wow, don't faint Haz - it must be a dream!!!
cheesecake for breakfast stid.... I wanna live in your world!
mornin' chic
Niamh - how did you do your research?
personally Niamh -- except for the pure-bred shepherd we rescued from a barn I can't say I recommend "breed" dogs. They all seem to have problems related to their inbredness -- find out about things like dysplasia and heart problems before you buy!
and.... I just have to tell the world.... I'm getting Sky for £14!! I can't believe it! LOL!
online, making phone calls...
But still - BT saying that they're wrong?
Who is BT Haz?
ARRGH Pirate Charity! come aboard and grab yer grog!
this breed is prone to eye sight problems and there has been some issue with hip dysplasia
I know. Not only that, the over-rode their billing system!
British Telecom - main provider of telephone system.
Stid you're really getting into this, aren't you?
Niamh -- can you arrange to have a vet check the dog before you actually pay anything?
Niamh, isn't that the same as rottweillers?
LOL a nice distraction from the over-busy week and the sick (again) kid.
no no rottweilers are WAY different from valhunds
yes, the breeder I've looking at is VERY good, she's the best breeder I've ever talked to. Her dogs are not her income, they are her family
I knew a rotty who had similar problems. Lovely dog. Poor thing.
I'm looking up my dog book now - it looks like a German shepherd crossed with a corgi.....
Vallhund is a small dog, weight is between 20 and 30 pounds
Watch the animal planet channel on Sat mornings; they always have dog shows and you can learn about the breeds and see them in action..
Niamh, that sounds like our Jillibus! she used to breed danes. Her "babies" were living to 15 years!!! (they usually live three to five)
hello babblers - it's lunchtime!
isn't it cute Haz!
It's certainly a handsome dog, Niamh
Hey Temple!
AARGH TO! *hands line to coil and mug of grog*
Hi T-Owl! : )
ty babs for that clue! hi all!
I've been invited to the breeders house to see her dogs interaction with my kids... that's what's important to me
chixie re you kidding> it is reall get ove rit day?
{{TO}}
My caution would be the expense, but it claims to be undemanding for grooming and feeding and has a friendly temperament. Sort of describes me, really.
LOL Haz.
speaking from personal experience, *I* have hip dysplasia. I can cope with it, but I would be really aware that fixing a dog's hip dysplasia can be very expensive.
hi judy hi chix hi stid hi niamh hi haz hi ursh *deep breath*
but are you house trained Haz?
oh pants! I forgot to load the washing machine!
Have you looked at the Basenji? they look terrific and very family oriented...
hello TO
and what exactly are we getting over chic? LOL *and hoping it's not pirating*
Indeed I am, very dependable in that regard.
*grin* see you soon Babbler... *need to get the kids' clothes in the washer soon*
And hello TO!
oh bye babs.....
today has been declared National Get Over It Day...get over what you want to...
a basenji owner *strongly* recommended against getting one -- apparently they get destructive quickly if not constantly attended to
I'll check out the basenji, thanks chic!
okay! :-) I choose to get over the notion that a clean house means a functional family...
Haz, you're funny and don't even realize it... "Depends" is a brand of adult diaper in the U.S.A. LOL!
sounds like 2 year olds, takuma! LOL
heh, except basenjis are silent
brb. I forgot to check I had eggs when I started making an omelette earlier this week... didn't realise till I was half way! :s
probably like all intelligent dogs, Takuma! our shepherd can really be a pain if he feels neglected.
Well, thank goodness I am dependable on my own!
:-)!
destructive? I really like Jack Russel's but the destructive factor is keeping me from getting one... my yard is not really what you might call "big"
I know what you mean, stid, though I don't know that basenjis are all that smart
hey Scarlet! when did you show up?
confidentially, takuma, I am not sure my shepherd is that smart! ;-)
I have had that problem more with smart cats than with smart dogs
heh, stid -- I won't tell him
Jack Russell's are extremely active - intelligent (look at Eddie in Frasier) but active....
I've been lurking, in and out, getting phone calls from travel-crazed daughters and sick sister, etc., ad nauseum. Hi, all!!
Hello Scarlet!
Hi Scarlet
And I apologise for the redundant apostrophe in Jack Russells.
Hello Haz and Stid et al.
Hi CiociaJudy!
morning all... total for today>
I've had all sorts of breeds in the past, my personal favorite was an Australian Shepherd, but again, my yard just won't cut it
right now the shepherd is whining and pacing, pacing and whining: it's not raining! ball! ball! outside! ball!
Whereas my springer spaniel has had a walk and is lying snoring peacefully....
with winter and all, I no longer have a back yard, I have a three-foot deep mud pool...
Hi all.....174 today walnut
174 words to find, walnutchen.
hi walnut!
thanks, Caitlyn, Haz.... How are you guys?
We loved our Boston Terriers and English Bulldogs... now, it's my faithful old cat.
hello walnut
my neighbor just got a 1-yr old catahula. I suspected she had no idea what she was getting herself into, and this has been recently confirmed.
Basenji's don't bark, they yodel! and they are fastidious like cats, supossedly very intelligent. Any dog that is not properly trained can be a house problem..
hi nimah! how goes?
tacos was good
Im great thanks..how is everyone else?
?catahula? *off to look it up*
it steadily moves right along... how are you walnut?
My dog book doesn't even list a catahula....
Hi Cait and Niamh.
have you ever had tacos from Jack in the Box? They're horrible for your health, but sure taste good!
{{{caitlyn}}} I'm a pirate today --- arrgh and avast! the high C's await and the sea chanty rolls over the ocean...
oops - it's 'catahoula'
(((stid))))))) Yo HO Ho and a bottle of rum???
The Leopard Dog?
that's it
Going to google catahoula. Sounds like a party song.
Yipes
brb kid talk
the PC way of putting it Stid, is a preemptive salvage engineer
lol, niamh - I love it
LOL Niamh
Yes, it's a leopard dog. Not terribly attractive to my eyes.
I think they're gorgeous, but they're pretty much bred to be incorrigible
The ugliest canine I ever saw was a Chinese Crested... so doggons :-) homely!
The Chinese crested is not a looker, I have to agree.
"Not a looker".... oh, Haz, diplomacy is one of your many strengths...
they're not so bad when they are not shaved to look stupid
Sounds abit like my hubby Niamh!!
like this one isn't bad looking http://www.dog.com/breed/docgr afx/chincrep.jpg
I didn't realize that Niamh, I thought they were naturally bald on most of their bodies. A friend had to use an SPF70 on its back to prevent sunburn.
Diplomacy is my middle name! _ there are two versions of Chinese crested - one, the hairier version used to be despised, the one without hair, is naturally hairless.
hi sccarlet and all joiners
Hi TO
Hi TO! Welcome to the amateur Westminster Dog Show!
so they are naturally hairless... I'm not a fan of hairless dogs, but I like my men bald!!
hey jud y - how about a road trip to reading? i am getting cabin fever
like Vin Diesel!
he's a hotty!! He was my wallpaper for a long time chic!
The hairy one is called the Powder Puff, and looks less of an apology for a canine.
he's a hotty!! He was my wallpaper for a long time chic!
can I get a clue for the GE 8/9 pair
LOL, Haz. Why was it despised?
I have Vin wallpaper too! ;-)
Anyway, I must take myself off to the kitchen to see what I can produce to eat this evening. Not hot dogs..... Bye all!
Cherry cheesecake is justified, isn't it?
i don't think so. but raspberry or strawberry...
always, babs
all the more for me, hursh! ; )
:)
is a double/triple chocolate cookie also justified? before dinner? ie now?
yes, a million percent yes

*hands on - the - rocks to cait, mocha java to chix* babs - salt?
Cheers TO
thanx TO..
Yay! the web was acting up for me, but I am back and done!
*pours chocolatini and hands babs margarita stright up*

hi lynn
Hi lynn
impossible, TO
hi
hi kris
We haven't had a decent troll in absolultely ages, (I think). They're not as good as they used to be.
ah yes, how i miss fredandkate
nope, the quality has downhill markedly
you speak the truth babs
I want a troll, just like the troll that hassled dear old dad!
well, trolls by nature are rather stupid
I agree Babbler..they just dont make them any more
sorry
what's going on in here?!?
this is true, Niamh
Baby Girl was offensive, nutster. just scroll a little ways down.
Hi nut we are on troll alert

oooh, yeah, keep that up baby girl, you're making it so easy for me...
Not only is she foul mouthed, she is obvious very stupid. How about same to you and many more!!

bye bye babeeeeegirl...bye byeeeee snottiness....little old rudishnesssss...time to say good byee-eeeyyyeee
TO, don't you want one with a hint of intelligence, though?
do we have more trolls? I thought it was only Baby Girl?
I think the baby needs a hug ((((((((BABY)))))))))
I always find that the fastest way to get someone to go away is to ignore them. It gets rather boring for them if they aren't getting any attention.
i'll give you krustine lol
Bye bye Baby, Baby, goodbyyyyyye bye Baby. (Bay City Rollers)
lol
ok back to babbling
less fun for us though salmon
we very well might
I'm not hugging an ugly baby
me and the nutster are notorious troll baiters.
Babbler - do you have to remind us about the Bay City Rollers.....
it was on my mind, haz. sorry. :( (LOL!)
Grammar, hurshy, grammar....
we have degrees in troll baiting...certified loons...er i mean professionals
The Nutster and I... tee hee
it's spring break, my grammar is allowed to slide.
very sensible, salmo ... but its such fun .....
so with nothing to do the baby decides that getting a small adrenaline rush from cussing at stranges is a good idea? Wow! sounds like a great time... and she put down what we were doing...
but where has baby gone?
already gone
maybe she's taking her own advise and reading a book??
well, Friday night, her friends aren't ready to go out yet, so she decides to get her kicks this way
Shame. We only just got started.
by the grace of dr. g....may his soul live forever in babble ;-)
trolls have the attention span of gnats...
oh poo - lunch is over. she's probably....*thinks twive and zips it*
Dr G acted fast I think
sometimes doc acts really quickly...
nice one chic
He sure did! Thanks, Dr God! *waves*
How many of the signs did she display?
kay then, back to horrendously boring work
new troll needed!
There are troll characteristics?
yes babs, we have a list on babanon.
let's see - weird question, inflammatory remarks....
wow. I'll check it out
you mean, like insults, profanity, simplicity of phrase?
ok, so I'm not getting the "one who writes" clue... can anyone break it down?
thanx, Dr Nut and try to keep up Babbler LOL!
maybe it would be a good opportunity to expand baby's knowlege. I wonder if she knows where the word FUCK originates and what it's original meaning was?
idn't beg for attantion though
Yes, indeed. Four or more signs are confirmation of trollishness.
Ok time for me to get supper...although I dont want to leave...Enjoy your Friday all..catch you tomorrow ..bye
Haz, she/it attempted to dazzle us with four-letter words and inflammatory comments about the state of our sexuality.
acutalyy german and came from pugnare form latin didn't it?
Well , that's two of the signs. Ages asked for?
ahaa, excellent!
and suggested everyone was babbling with one hand only
bye caitlyn! Have a lovely evening! : )
LOL
fornacation under consent of the king
I thought is has its roots in british law. "found using carnal knowledge"
nope, she missed asking that, haz :-)
bye cait! see yo tomorrow
Just have to pop in and say, Babble has made me really appreciate 4-letter words! ;)
LOL, is that really what it is from, Niamh?
really! babble is so educational, i really thought the other
wow Niamh!
yep, you had to seek permission to fornicate
lol
ewwww, bet that's difficult to do under the king.
and how did the king decide who got permission??
lol nut!
kidding me??
Like, each time? Or was there a license you could get?
thanks Niamh. Only the British would need to ask permission of the king. LOL
esp. if he's heavy like Henry VIII
this is sooooo funny
and if he was granting these requests all day, every day, how did he get time to attend to other matters? (assuming everyone asked permission)
I know back in ancient Egypt there was something similar, it was so the king could take the pick of the virgins before anyone else got to them!
try outs..
lol
hah--let him try and find a virgin today!
lol
Henry wasn't always heavy. They opened a McDonald's near Hampton Court and that was the end of slim Henry.
co5,12 between inmate and to deal with please
LOL!
i dunno why they'd always want virgins anyway. wouldn't a woman of experience be able to provide a better... experience?
LOL
it had to do with pleasing His royal suckups (I can't think of the proper name right now)... they were really the ones who granted permission and they had the right to "take" any woman they wanted
hangon, rome on hbo uses that 'f' word all the time
sounds like a good position to be in if your that guy...sucked to be a woman though.
it's probably more about conquests than experience, hursh
Prima Nocta
so now if I say the 4 words meaning the 4-letter word, i can tell someone to do it without being scorned? cool!
I've heard of that before,Niamh.
hursh, i think it was a "power" thing, not so much a pleasure thing
boys are weird.
it's reminding me of something I've seen in a documentary or film, but I can't access my brain today.
Brave Heart
robin hood
I wonder what happened to law when a Queen was ruling.
that helen of troy tv miniseries
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
he he he, babbler thinks she has a brain
fucq, of course, salmo
LOL!! The dudes!
hey you, nutster! I did have a brain... once.... didn't I?
hursh, I am using that from now on! Hah!
Elizabeth 1st seemed to have had a good time!
Hurshy!!! Where are you?
Hello to everyone else, too.
lol
i'm still here in CT vi, decided it didn't feel right.
hi Vicuna
hey, vicuna
maybe back when you was a chalker stalker babbler.
I see my left-over icon is strangely appropriate to the conversation. The virgin-picking scheme is how Esther ended up Xerxes's queen.
How much of "it" wasn't right, if I may inquire?
help with pe6,24 and 7,36
aaah, yes, chalking stalking. You could be right. Think Iost my brain during an investigation.
well, i think that going from like 15 hours a week of low-key tutoring to 40 hours a week of potentially uptight corporate work would be .... difficult.
break time, thanx for the laffs, later...
or when we lost the subject of our investigation...renster
bye chic
bye chixer
pe6/24 and plural . . . like the food ingredient but "e" instead of "i"
where is she? I noticed she hasn't been around
True enough.
pe 6 just what you would ex***t + number after nine
she's working insanely long hours and taking care of mezzie.
poor rennie
indeedy...

Thanks, bubba. I thought that word was spelled differently.
co5,12 between inmates and to deal with
that's awful. she was always here before
please
did somebody say pirating?

fo6= males who are against you
why does everyone say ewwww to a root canal, they aren't bad, it's the pain that makes you get one that is bad.
I've never had a root canal. Don't know what it means, but it sounds dreadful. Glad you're in good spirits, Nuts.
fo+man plural+cons
Hi folks.
hi scrabbler
okay, never had to have a root canal myself
fo6 is to instigate or stir up, llike in the sentence he had been known to fo**** trouble
Hi Scrabs
Babbler & Scrabbler are both here!
I'm very glad that dentists have found means of distracting you so you don't hear the sounds of the root canal and other things
hi scrabs
is that good, scrabbler? you mean our names? :D
Scrabs & Babs. tee hee!
HI TO
I had a root canal about 1 1/2 yrs ago. I had about 12 shots before I felt no pain--cracked tooth caused a hypersenstive nerve.
Hi Peri! hi nutty root canal is not too bad if not infected

I had the wondow covered with 2 layers, the first was plastic, then the top was a paper bag from Abercrombie and Fitch, with a very hot young studmuffin--I will miss looking at my boytoy
I seem to have trouble typing the word "window", huh?
back in a bit, lunch time
haha! didn't notice till you pointed it out! but I don't have access to my brain today. : /
see you later, peri
Mine is recovering from a migraine that awoke me at 4:46 this AM.
oh dear. Ive been having nightmares for the last few nights that prevent me sleeping and then wake me up too early.
What are your nightmares about?
anxiety about harm coming to my little nieces, who are 2 and 3 yrs old. : (
We worry about the well-being of those we love, don't we?
I have fo/9 and ge/9 any clue for the 3d 9?
Are they actually in danger, Babbler?
yes. I think it's just that. No, they're not in any danger at all! It's just me, worrying about going to the shops and losing them. They're so small.
ce9--builds on ce6--concrete stuff
babsy, i'd recommend asking for some paxil.
I am always talking back to my "worry voice"!!
thank you muchly scrab
what's paxil? I think maybe I'm just tense after a difficult week. I had to do battle every day.
LOL, nutter.
clue for ge9?
that's a good idea, Scrabbler! I've never talked back to my 'worry voice'!
i wasn't kidding scrabs. my mother used to wake up at nights like that. they gave her paxil and all was well...it's anxiety medicine.
Start with a prefix for shapes and a branch of math, then add a measuring tool
Hey, years of psychotherapy have taught me how to deal with life!
ea 5,14 the last one,, i love this game GRRR
tks!
Nutter, I am on a related med.
Wonder what the natural alternatives are for Paxil?
We love this game too, Kristine, grrrrrrrr

removal of all stress?
Death
i'm klonopin myself scrabbler.
tysm darn british er re lol

Sometimes I wish I had klonazepam or Xanax around, for the really anxious moments
st john's wort
loss of limb might distract her?
<<lives on klonopin
Do they work?
workswonders
i'm requesting the switch to xanax actually
St John's Wort didn't have any effect on me. Tried it for ages.
zoloft for me, pls
child you take one and nothing bothers you anymore
hubster is a zoloft man
I'm mega mega tense. I didn't even close my eyes when I tried acupuncture.
ganja then
i am a paxil user myself. to counteract my shy nature
Try yoga, meditation, visual imagery too
zoloft improved the lives of my hubby and kids!
I use Effexor
and THEN ganja
me thinks babbler should ask for a drug
i had a bizareee nightmare this morning right at wake up time
I'm out of the habit of meditating. Good reminder, thanks. Ganja - naaah! lol!
tell us, T-Owl
i didn't dream nuthin, i was in vicodin stupor sleep
ge 8/55 any clues?
It sounds like your anxiety problem interferes with your life, Babbler.
hmmm, meditate or medicate---i'll take the latter!
heck maybe i SHOULD ave filled that srip
sure do, Scrabbler. I have fibromyalgia, which is tension in the body going crazy.
majmom - think maths

Damn customer service

te5/14 keeping time to music
Hi all, still missing one 8 and 2 9's
I have that te5,14--that is the first one. I need the second/last one
ge9, ce9, and fo9
t + hesitant syllable + abbr. for Georgia
added an s to ge8 and got the ge9!
TY, TY, Erda!!
I love when that happens, Peri!
YW YW -- it was my last one, too -- took me forever!!!
okay added an s to ce8 and got the ce9 thanks Scrabbler
still missing an 8 , will check the list
Erda, I had tried that with an E ending, not the A--seemed too odd
"too odd" often works here!!!
I am blind to the two e words from bottom of 2d column
am sure they will deserve a fish
er4=Latin for thus/therefore
erte
er4=old term for "once" as in or previously
er + opp of stop, wnags

LOL you are probably right
Is he still a pup, mom?
Never been to Buffalo area.
Where in Texas, Spanky?
ah..george strait's home..the lone state
Really don't matter whether it is a word or not. What matters is whether the grid will accept it. Enable is a capricious final arbitor. We all know that.
he is but he is big...over 45 lbs already
are there any ao's?
well I am from Pennsylvania, but moved to Texas & married a texan.
LOL mom -- my big dog would do that if he thought I wouldn't get really mad... he hates to upset me (wise pup that he is)
Dripping Springs, west of Austin.

Oh, I understand--you PLANNED for this, and the cancellation totally messed you up!
mom -- I say go this weekend, and do something else unless you can get all that other money back? surely there are other things you could do though not the same
Keep going, Esprit!
all the other stuff i can't get refunded and will have to pay it again if i go in april..but the situation with bill is what i don't know what to do about
i can find things to do....HOWEVER..should i tell bill the concert is cancelled and let him decide if we should still go away....or play dumb until we get there?
Hi mom...Just logged in want my 2 cents
Is bill your fellow? I think a good relationship is founded on being straight with each other.

Captain Jenny Flint: Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!

I appreciate your taking the time to spell it out for me.
yw...and i'm sorry for the first confusing clue.
No need to be sorry, Dispatch. Any other day I would have gotten it, but today. ... not a chance
lol
i'd like to stay to clue for another 10 minutes...so if you need anything just ask
hi all -- dispatch does that offer apply to anyone? :-)
of course it does stid!
That is sweet of you, but I wouldn't know where to start. Hi Stid!
oh stid...what a frightful icon. what's today's theme?
okay, I need one more E. I am not on the list.... but it comes from teh E on the far left. I have to be ready and willing ea and its plural...
the theme is what's in the grid. the icon is in honor of my Pirate name, Calico Ethel Flint!
top left or bottom left stid?
reverse the last two letters of ready and willing
oh -- bottom left. sorry.
Thanks Bookwomen, both e's on the left are now greyed.
silly me...of course you are talking about the bottom one! and bookwomen just clued you! feeling chilly about the pirate!
aha! thanks book!
ARRRRgh! LOL
don't you mean arrggh? (from the grid the other day, lol!)
that is not the proper babble pirate sound.
mom...do you have 7 ex's?
no dispatch, just 2
the gas station minus a x and it's plural
the first four: start with the 5 letter meaning precise.
oh geez, didn't even see that, thank you
then add the two letter suffix i use for "person who"
then plural that for the 8; go back to the original 5 and plural that for the 6
one to go
the last ex is a 4/10: used to describe big conventions
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I now have the 7 ex's
go Mom go!
Thank you Stid, I still have 65 left. However, the dishes are calling me to dry them.
yw. i didn't see them until i went to the list..so i thought i'd offer them!
Dispatch, thank you again for the help. See everyone later tonight, hopefully.
Later mom!
see ya mom!
Bye Stid
how many AC words are there today please?

Bye Dispatch

hm. okay, I think I'll grab the list. I am down to 27...

thanks!
yw

here's something for ya nut: Las Vegas Churches This may come as a surprise to those of you not living in Las Vegas, but there are more churches than casinos. Not surprisingly, some worshippers at Sunday services will give casino chips rather than cash when the basket is passed. Since they get chips from many different casinos, the churches have devised a method to collect the offerings. The churches send all their collected chips to a nearby Franciscan Monastery for sorting and then the chips are taken to the casinos of origin and cashed in. This is done by Chip Monks.
jane, you mentioned a while ago that you were coming up for special olympics
Mr. Wonder with an extra vowel in the middle Jane
lol feather

it hit 51 degrees today...people were wearing shorts

it may turn to avalanche country if this weather keeps up. i know the skiers are doing the snow dance
it's currently 41 degrees here!
feather, I didn't see it coming because there4 are some Vegas residents in the chat, and my grandson's g/f's late father was a croupier there...
i'm doing the happy dance, homework done, teamwork done, only have to take a quiz now.
*happy dance with Nutty*
Now I regret I must go do some things -- back later to help clue I hope
later Jilli
some churches won't accept gambling winnings. a lottery winner tried to tithe to the methodist church, i think it was, an was turned down.
* do - c - do's with dawg*
well harp, that's just silly of them! since they could turn that money into all kinds of good.
that seems silly Jane, money is money. maybe they feel it is ill gotten gain?
yeah dawg, but then they take tithes from lawyers don't they?
hypocracy at it's best!
(fyi, not all lawyers, my lawyers a great guy)
unless of course, they don't have any lawyers in their congregation, since there's not enough prayer to save them? (just kidding of course)
BottaBing....BottaBoom....*!*!**! FIREWORKS!!
whooo hooo SMD
dinner's ready
smdeeeefi(ni)sher.
Very surprised I finished with phone ringing and getting cursed viciously!!!!!!
!!! who would curse you smd?
what's for dinner Jane?
I am so proud to myself.....**takes low sweeping bow**
*trips smd on way down*
someone very , very angry with me for having their daughter removed from their home!!
watch out smd, Nutty's getting ready to go vicodin zombie on us
yikes and they have your home number!??!?!
ax7?
Dont be ugly Nutter!!
really? sounds intriguing smd...
is that your job, smd?
ax+ first number + not you but ** jane
ax+ first number + not you but ** jane
Oh yes....her sister is my daughter in law!!
** sniff sniff, lip wobble **, smd thinks i'm ugly.
axoneme
oops
you got it Jane! lol
vicodin.....where is it again?
poor widdle nutty, she didn't mean you personally.
63 to go, dinner's ready
*Nutty's hoarding the vicodin*
i've renamed the vicodin, i now refer to it as vic, my boyfriend.
No Jane...it is not my job! The young girl came to visit Tuesday afternoon and told me some things that should not happen to a little girl!!
ax 6 please
ce 6/24 please
I'm proud of you SMD. it's hard to get involved, even though that's what needs to be done.
oh! you had her removed from her mothers home! well smd, good for you for having the gonads to speak up. many people would have been to afraid to say something.
button, male wielding sharp cutting implements
button, ce6.25, concrete
Unfortunately the young girl did not expect me to tell and I had a hard time explaining to her why I HAD to tell!!
Hi all. one word left. I still haven't got the st6,27. clues anyone. thanks
Hello salmo
salmo, Mr. Wonder, with an extra vowel in the middle
if she told you, then she wanted help whether she realized it or not smd.
got the ce 6, thanks
thank you thank you. fire works
hi there - can anyone help with the ge8 or the ge9? thanks
it's a moral and ethical call. One with morals and ethics would make a call to protect a child.
whooo hooo salmo!
farz, think high school math, earth + measurement the plural for the 9
I know she did...and she is much better out of that situation. Problem now is that I have to keep my granddaughter's very close and watch police cruisers pass the house on routine.
just keep those precious girls tight close smd...it will eventually settle.
it's good to see the police, especially when you feel that you or others may be in danger from some sociopath.
walk quietly and carry a big gun, that's my motto. shoot first ask questions later...no one gets at the kiddos, no way no how no day
True Dawger...but I wonder what the neighbors are thinking!! This childs grandmother has called me everything under the sun for "splitting" this family up!!
why didn't that grandmother get involved? the neighbors can think what they want, and if they ever hear the truth, they will be glad you are their neighbor
My Grandchildren are her grandchildren also....she is just mean enough to try to take them and hide them somewhere.
just say your sorry (even though you don't mean it and she dont' deserve it)
thanks LBD!
who has custody of your grandchildren smd?
If she "steals" those children and keeps them away from you, you have grounds to have social services get invovled in her life too.
I cant for the life of me say I'm sorry!! I am sorry that this child had to endure what she did...but no child....NO CHILD...should have to go through that.
I have custody of the two girls.
has she said anything to that effect
so if this other grandmother does anything to them, she is also in for some big time trouble with the legal system. You should probably talk to a detective or someone in childrens services to let them know of your concern and what has happened today.
if she has threatened you, even without a witness, you can probably obtain a temporary restraining order against her.
I took the little girl to the police...told them what she told me.....she validated it....we then went to hospital for tests.....and then I asked for her to be put in foster home out of county...where I do not even know where she is...at least until that piece of $#!+ is arrested.
make sure everything is on the record, and keep one for yourself including all the calls with notes as to the conversations. this record could be your best defense
yes, and see if you can manage to record your phone calls
talk to a lawyer, they'll have better advice than us. in such a situation, it is definitely better to be overprepared.
I have dawg...my phone is monitored...Beth had escort to and from school...and restraining orders are signed and served.....unfortunately I dont think anyone in the crappy family can read!
that's for sure! doubly since children are involved
that's just horrible smd
how old are your granddaughters?
I have a lawyer....calls are recorded...and probably the mother, grandmother and one aunt will be arrested before too long.
are the schools aware of who can and cannot have contact with them?
One granddaughter is 9 yrs old and her baby sister is now 17 months old.
i'd let your neighbors know that if they see anyone getting close to your grands that isn't of your household to call the cops and get a good description.
Yes...School Principal is good friend...and they really have a good security system in place. Vice principal escorted Beth into class and back out to car yesterday and today.
You might want to rig up those fake security cameras too, as these ladies seem dumb as bricks, they won't know one from another.
hopefully the principal has informed beth's teachers that if they see anyone other than you approach her to call 911 immediately
I have told the neighbors that I am close friends with plus the new neighbors next door....Beth is a favorite in the neighborhood and she is well watched. She is having a hard time trying to imagine her cousin far away and in a strange home.
sounds like you have your bases covered smd, with constant vigilance (in the words of mad eyed moody) all will be well.
you're in my t's and p's SMD. i hope the little ones will be okay too.
Yes..Beth's teacher knows and they have extra teacher's aids out on the playground when Beth is outside.
my Microsoft Outlook calendar is acting funny. All the appointments after Sunday are one hour later. Is anyone else seeing this?
had to be off to care for my 2yr old granddaughter (((smd))) kill kill
will you try to get custody of the little girl?
harp, you probably need to download a patch
harp, sunday...daylight savings starts
clocks change ahead one hour Sunday harp
thx dawger...they will be okay I am sure...Beth is confused and frightened...If I can have sissy sent away...what is to keep me from having her sent away!?!
Daylight savings time starts saturday night! Bt rule of congress!
evening all!
(hi, I'm back)\
(hi, I'm back)\
hi hoot
(((SMD))) she's going to need a lot of reassurance, explaining that her cousin will be all right.
awww smd, and just too much to explain to her at her age.
Hi hoot, how was dinner Jane?
LTNS hooter.
I would not mind having custody of her, but she is better off right now in a foster home where no one knows where she is. I have been tolld she likes it there...she is the only child in the home and has her own everything.
I know that, but why would my calendar say that an appointment I have for next Tuesday at 1:30 is actually at 2:30? It has not done that in the past!
SMDNJV, be grateful you're not in Memphis. This town is the pits.
i would assume one of the automatic updates is screwed up?
I would assume it's right unless it goes one hour ahead after Sunday harp
If it's an XP it's supposed to make the change automatically. of course that doesn't make it right..
Jane, I've heard some of the techs talking about how this change in daylight savings is a real pain in the behind. i think that may be one of the many reasons.
well, I'm not going to do anything about it until Sunday
You are right Nut...but she seems to need to know and there is only so much her mind can hold. She knows absolutely nothing at all about S E X shshsh!! At least I dont think she does.
but it made me schedule an appointment for the wrong time next week
just tell her she's perfect and therefore has no reason to worry.
;-)
SMD, you don't have to go into details, just tell her that something bad was happening at her house and she had to be taken to somewhere safe for a while.
That's the weird part, Jane. It shouldn't have messed with the hours in the appointment book, just the clock. i think it's a patch problem.
I did dawger...but she doesn't understand why her mommy cant go with her. Her mom knew this was happening and did nothing about it!!
oh well
harp - the new dst has messed up all the computers internal clocks- you need to download the patch and it may only be a temp fix for now - go to microsoft's downloads - there is no permanenet fix at this time...cost 535 millon in staffing hours for this screwy idea
I'd wait til sunday and see what happens then Jane. Will probably straighten out.
I hope.
Can you google a patch to fix the time for the few weeks til the actual time change was supposed to happen??
RENNNNNNSTER me beauty!!! arrrrrrrrrrgh.
I think so hoot, jane
arrrrrrgggggggghhhh
Tennie!
graaaaaaaaaaaaah
Rennie!
hhggggrrrraaa
give me a tennie shoe any day
I'm just thinking about the dozen or so clocks in this house that aren't going to do it automatically! PITB!
lol, magic fingers are interacting with the monkeys
dawg and her monkey magic! i keep calling judy jusy
vicodin is interacting with my brain
lol hoot, well you could pretend your in a different time zone!
you guys are a hoot, no pun intended ( :
Nutty aka Vicozombie!
let's all go to the time warp zone
when i lived in Arizona, i'd just tell my family that we didn't change the clocks we just moved time zones.
vicozombie's munch brains
i wanna go into the twilight zone
Nutty, you are there all ready
my grandpa never changed his clocks, he said the chickens didn't change theirs so neither would he.
lol
i wanna go to the chocolate zone
i like your grampa Nutster
i'm w/ grandpa
i liked him too!
oooh Rennie! yeah! chocolate zone!
i like daylight savings though
i'll take you there...uh huh uh huh
No one has ever explained why we do this stupid thing well. Aneight hour daylight is an 8 hour daylight no matter what time it starts! Just meddling.
if my cat fat is lounging on a heating pad, is he spoiled?
nut told me ben franklin did it
yes
no evan, that's perfectly normal
hullo everyone. How are you all tonight?
daylight savings was originally started to help the farmers get their produce to market on time. well, for the markets to be open at the same time.
the last te5/14?
saves electricity hooter
not here
hiya autumn
true, ren
Jane, te+ hook letter + abbrev for georgia
Not in my book! My cat would not go near an electric blanket or a heating pad til I made her!
thanks
kevetching autumn
you forced your cat onto a heating pad? what kind of a sick cat lover are you?
how can it save electricity? if i'm up at 6 and still up at 11, i'm still using electricity.
should I go back into the chat and read?
WHEN does it save it and where? With 4 time zones someone is always short changed.
turn off all the lights and only use your computer - what typos!!!!
don't recall the specifics dawg, but not sure the reasoning really applies now. i think they just did it for the golfers this time around.
Well, I just got home from work...174 words...I think I can get this one done?
nah, autumn, you can just chime in. topic right now is anything goes. daylight savings, hot cats,
he he, dawg thinks my cat is hot.
and the power companies
yes, you can finish this grid Autumn.
My complaint about DST is that the dog doesn't want to go outside before I leave for work....Then, when I get her used to the new time, it's time to fall back
NO silly. Onto my electric blanket. She'd jump up to join me and leave as fast as she got there. So I picked her up one day and made her sit on it. When she realised it was warm I never got rid of her! Her mother used to sleep under it.
yup Rennie, that's who makes out in all this. like the gass companies. how fast does the price go up and how long does it take to go down!
must be an old dog...not learning new tricks and all
ok, i see hooter, your not sick then.
She's 8 but still acts like a puppy....okay...into the grid I go
and explain why an extra week in the fall? isn't it dark then?
i have a torn cuticle...who can we blame?
ren, i would blame someone not present to defend themselves, lets lay it on mrp.
the government of course Rennie
ok

are you sure it's water?
dawg, i'm bloody jenny kidd
i don;t know - i was just curious
i'm dread pirate kidd
Oh, I thought it was a joke . .
Like the famous Dread Pirate Roberts, you have a keen head for how to make a profit. You can be a little bit unpredictable, but a pirate's life is far from full of certainties, so that fits in pretty well. Arr!
i bet the dog would still drink it ren
I think anything sitting anywhere for a week would stink.
i would not!
i think you are right hoot
i think i'll sit on the bed for a week and see if i stink
My dog got his nose cut off . .

no, I couldn't figure out the co 5,16, the third one down
sewwell, you need a clue? or are you speaking past tense?
hi all! can anyone clue the ge8/55?
I need a clue! Thanks
There are 3 5/16 first is a dance, second changes final vowel of previois and 3rd is same word with another vowel on end
co5 sounds the same as the co6 after it, but drop one of the double vowels
co 5, 16 is to trick someone and leave
ge8 = earth science prefix (3 letters) + general term for a measuring device (5 letters)
I need the third co 5,16.
many thanks, book!
simpler - all same four letters with dif vowel at end
ge 8/55 - brand of car plus length
