nite shdy
bye sprite -- have a good weekend
4 pe's
sounds like an entertaining evening, jilli
Jill i dont by all means mean to be rude just curious but how did you find studing med then when women were not really out there in the work force
pe6x4 and sl6
herin, a lot of the guys would say "You realise nobody will go to a woman doctor" and I would counter "Have you ever heard of research?" Funny thing is, the male pre-med students were the ones who fainted at the sight of blood and such. However, there were several highly respected women in the general medical field at McGill even then.
fist woman doctor Elizabeth Blackwell, 1849
well at least to receive MD degree
it just facinates me in that era that women were just coming into the light and broching into 'male'jobs and yes i do realise that before then there were female scientists but it was rare. I could see the males fainting, that is interesting mymuse
back in the 30s my parents bought me a book called "Careers for out Daughters" and medicine was included as one of the choices, although it was rated as not being very profitable!!!
I could see that, my mum had a 'womens job' in the sixities as a bank teller
crashing -- last 30 for tomorrow :)
Then after a long time and working as a bookkeeper she worked in a factory and became a leading hand
night vyber
night Nan
me too.. 22 left for tomorrow.. night all
night nan
nite nan, aloy
herin, as I recall that book was not just "women's jobs" but ran the whole gamut -- "medicine" was not only nursing but included being a doctor.
wow that would have been a big step back then, your parents must have been very smart people when it came to thinking about your future
and very encouraging and optimistic about your potential
last 6 is ga6
thanks Hugs
thanks hugs
my parents were pretty much pioneers, came by it naturally. My Australian grandfather pioneered teaching languages by immersion and phonetics and his son was the technical advisor for the movie, Pygmalion (basis for My Fair Lady) and supplied the speech exercises -- i.e. the rain in Spain...etc.
lol and I thought no wrong spelling
wow jill (mouth on floor stunned
muse, education was extremely important to them
well my Mom stressed it coz she learned the hard way, but she didn't know how to offer career advice
BTW that language teaching was before WW1.
except she tried to push art school and I didn't think I was good enough
as I keep saying, you have a very interesting background
Muse i am the master of stick figures
and I am self-taught, but still have a lot to learn
lol, stick figures are fun and can be developed into human form by using ovals
when we think we know it all it is time to die - my mother is 90 and looks up a new word every day
Don't we all have a lot to learn!
Muse i may have to try that
i sure need to learn some Y words
fireworks
lol bodhi
I taught art and crafts for 5 years, had fun showing the kids how to do that
Oh, glad to see Mr Herman is a word

hey jean
I just "got here", Herin. Have a sick toddler here. I'll be in and out on here instead of at school all day.
OH no not again Monkey
gm Monkey:)
'Fraid so. Looke like rotavirus. Thats' doing the rounds,a nd he's throwing up and feels just yucky, but luckily no fever. A friend is doing some grocery shopping for me in a bit--it gets hard sometimes when he's sick and I can't get out. And good morning Jean!
poor litle might
mite i meant
Yeah, it breaks my heart when he isn't well. And for my part I really cannot be missing more school--but so it goes.
At least your getting there
I'm not sure what you mean.
hi everyone
Hi!
gm loredana:)
hi monkey & jean
hey lore
hey herin tooth all better now?
hi peeps....uh oh. two monkeys in the room...
gm monkeymind:)
hi jean
Yup, but this mokey will be really in and out. Little Walter wants to be held a lot right now.
poor little walter
Lorenda everything good as i have to weight a week and then likely sealed up hopefully
Yup. If he was just a bit oloder I could at least explain. He does believe me when I say it will get better but doesn't understand why that can't be immediately.
ohhhh i wanna give him a hug
I'll do it for you. Thanks.
let him see cuteoverload and the bouncing rabbits, too cute
If he's up to sitting over at the computer later that is a very good idea. Meanwhile he also very much enjoys google image serches for kittens and owls. Owl mad, this boy.
owwww thats too cute
http://www.owlpages.com/
have a web page on owls
Right now we have a Winnie the Pooh video on because Owl appears briefly. Later I guess we'll go for the Fox and the Hound: Big Mama is an owl. Not that we watch a lot of Disney or even TV, but he's sick. Oh, I see the link, thanks I will check that out!
Walter also has a toy owl, but due to the events of last night Owl is in the wash with everything else that was in the bed (sheets, blankets, Dragon, Bunny Rabbit, etc.)
its all about owls
poor animals
poor walter
the critters have seen worse... Bunny Rabbit has been in his bed since he was two weeks old.
thats a long time for bunny rabbit
2 1/2 years and 2 weeks. This is of course not his first trip through the washing machine.
I have a teddy thats about 30 years old
Nice!
oh and Mr Woofta the dog is about 30 years old too
Has he been yours the whole time? How old are you?
When I was 2 I had an elephant named Elephant Gerald. Sigh. Kids, eh?
I told my other half that be prepaired for the teddys and stuff that sit on my chest of draws. I am 30 wofta is mine, little ted not sure but i think he was my cousins
I have a stuffed cat called Cat that's been in my bed since I was 2
MY other halfs respons to more than the one teddy in the room (his named winston) is that i have to expect a random teddy bear hanging every now and then and im going noooooo
Way cool, Atalante! I don't know what happened to Elephant Gerald but I have had Emperor Akihito since I was nearly 3.
Looks like I may be able to set him down for a few. I need to seek breakfast. Back when I can!
ok im off to shower and dinner
bye herin:)
Good morning/evening all.
hi haz
Good morning Haz:) well another nice day here, hope its the same over with you
Yes, it's pretty reasonable so far. We're beginning to forget the rainy winter.
hi haz :)
we sure are Haz I keep thinking maybe the weather is lulling us into a false sense of security and then will catch us out with either a cold spell or wet spell lol
*Bouncing in due to another sunny day* Morning all :)
Good morning FMitch it sure is lovely isnt it:)
Good morning Atalante, and FMItch. They're all appearing now!
hi fmitch
Morning jean, it makes all the difference to see blue sky. Hi lore and Haz and Ata and all,
FM! wheee!
it does for sure FMitch:)
Atalante- we have a cocker spaniel in the surgery, here on holiday with its owners, and due to go back home this morning, but in a lot of pain from a possible spinal injury. I thought of you!
awwww! poor baby
what colour?
I don't know, Atalante, I was just talking to them on the phone. It was seen last night, given pain relief, but they rang at 5.30 this morning to say it was a lot worse. It's there now getting x-rays done.
poor thing :(
It's not the sort of thing you want to happen at any time, let alone on holiday!
no!!
let us know how he/she does ...
I will. It's wrong of me, but I'm instinctively more sympathetic to spaniels and their owners. Will I be drummed out of the vets wives phone answering telephone union?
hi again everyone
and made to do 100 lines too I would think.
lol probably! but you can't help feeling more for those animals you love yourself. and *everyone* feels for spaniels
right am off for now, hello saphyre and bye, Happy Babbling everyone:)
Hello saphyre.
bye jean
Bye jean and Hi saphyre
I try not to let non-spaniel owners know....
its funny, when I walk into my vets, Hobbit always gets a bigger reaction from the receptionists and nurses than any other dog who walks in. I think the spaniel phenomenon is wellknown
Who canresist them, and one look from those eyes and you're hooked
hi saphyre
exactly!
I'm beginning to realise that this grid isn't as cooperative as yesterday's.
It entices you in and then goes Ha!
It's going HA! very loudly. BUt we are made of determined stuff.....
shoulders back, stiff upper lip and all that
I soooo want polymer
I know. Rome wasn't built in a day, we shall not be moved etc, etc.
There are some fun words today, 3 sport related ones, an old fashioned policeman not to mention Buffy's job.
I like the illness one. It begins the second name of a character from Twelfth Night. Never say that Babble isn't educational. (ag4/7)
Yes, got that one, love the character
hello everyone
hi lynxxx
I know - soppy or what!
Hey lynxxx!!!!
Good evening lynxxx! I'm just about to get ready for going out, so glad I caught you.
Me too as I am out of here at 10.00
And I've just looked at the clock - must flyyyyyyyyy!
Hi Haz - what are you up to today? oops she's gone!

I'm in and out. Sick toddler, stuck home.
Yes that's the one lynxxx
TY FM
yw
poor Monkey - same child?
Yup, just have the one. Looks like rotavirus this time. It's doing the rounds. They also said at daycare he's not the only one out today with same symptoms.
oh dear - he's getting everything while he is small - he should be well toughened up by school age.
Yes. He's getting it all over with early, including the collapsed lung anf subsequent stay in ICU when one day old. But really, everyone seems to be getting sick a lot this spring and during this past winter--must be one of those years.
hey agaub
morning everyone how goes it?
opps hello again
Good grief! having that happen to a newborn would have been horrific - must have been v. traumatic for you
Hi Granny

back - night from hell
What sort of customer service do you do?
Front Desk/Night Audit at a hotel for 2 more nights - then I change jobs back to the computer field - thankfully
Ah. My husband had to answer the phones and do Adobe tech support but now he's a level two Macromedia specialist so he doesn't answer the phones any more. I feel for you!
I did that for 7 years at an online banking company - ughhh
Indeed.
But you can understand people getting upset if they can't get a program to work, or can't get to their money but I CAN'T stop the noise that the waves are making
Off to check on this poor boy's bedding and see if I can get it into the dryer yet.
ok MG
Oh yes, do understand. Saw your post after ghitting send for mine.
lol Mother Nature didn't put a volume control button on the CHesapeake Bay
Saph was that woman seriously compaining about the wave noise?
yes - wanted me to discount her room because the waves were making too much noise - and told me that I should be sorry that the waves were noisy and that I didn't sound sorry
it is a bayside resort - if you dont like the sound of waves why would you go to hotel on the water
ohh k so you get a hotel room on the beach then bitch about the wave noise, id be throwing her into the water
lol

lol lynxxx
I LIKE that one!!!!
now lynxxx has the right idea
Im close to 6ft and weigh at the mo about 103 killos so yes it was a good line of work
herin standup comedy girl you would be so great
I just can't believe someone would call with a complaint like that at 4:30 am
thought about that but sometimes im just a little to off colour for the masses
alice here! i need some help with 6's please
Saph will you get a call at dawn with the cheaping of the birds?
saphyre if she did it in aussie she would be in the tide as herin suggested

ok is there a full moon or something?
alice is stuck now
I need a cigarette brb
bill - we are not allowed to keep livestock in urban areas for that very reason and apparantly also attract rats to chicken food
Blimster all rosters/cockerels can be kept in urban areas if theyare kept in the dark till after day break, you can trick them, my neighbourhood has a lot of europeans and they have roosters
i am going to miss my neighbours vegie patch view, i guess ill grow my own vegies if water restrictions dont hamper the idea
is anyone actually here?
ees
I am really in and out. Been sitiing here for about 30 seconds, expect to be here up to a minute more this time.

thanks saphyre!
Saph Y what but that i mean YO 4/5
yl 4/7 & yl 5/16
yw eva
junior-the word stats tell you how many words of what length canbe made with each tile. If you go to Babble for dummies, or Angels' page at the bottom of the page all will be explained. Welcome
im mising one y
junior if we say sl 5/12 it means the first 2 letters are sl - it is 5 letters in length - and the point value is 12
i have the 2 you clued but im still missing one
take the exercise one and remove the last vowel and replace it with another vowel twice
Thanks so that is it ta

there are 5 ga's
yes Junior
2 ga 4's 2 ga 5's 1 ga 6
Back temporarily. Waiting for the friend who was going to grab me some groceries. Walter is in bed now, sadly without his critters but he handled it pretty philosophically when I explained that they are in the dryer but will be able to come back before bedtime.
aww poor little guy
I am pretty concerned about him, but I know I'm just being a nervous mom. His fever is low, he isn't throwing up anymore, but he feels so bad, you know? I have been able to get some fluids down him but not enough to make me really happy. When he gets up I will hit him with the rehydration salts.
how old is he MG?
He's 2 1/2.
In 45 minutes I can call the doctor for a phone consult; I think i will do that for peace of mind.
I had friends whose daughter was inconsoloable when her "blankie" had to be washed, so over time they cut off more and more pieces so there were mulitple blankies, and she was never without one. Plus, eventually she was happy with just a hankie sized one, which made things much easier.I was very impressed by the creative problem solving
good idea MG
That's great! Luckily he is handling it OK not having Bunny Rabbit and Dragon and Owl in bed right now but he did have to have his spinny toy before he'd settle down.
my mom did that to me when I was little Eva - but she threw out a small piece each time until there was nothing left
I wish my friend would get here. She's bringing me traditional Dutch fried cod pieces. I have only had half a flour tortilla and it's after noon. Sigh.
But enough whining. Who has all the mo's? I'm stuck on a 4.

More 6's: like a polymer but all alone. Another one, there are 20,000 of these under the sea. Another one: more than one ne5.

*flops* hi again. back from walkies
Hi. Icon updated to today's apparent theme.
looks like site is having a hiccup
Hi. Icon updated to today's apparent theme.
hi everyone
hi everyone
hi everyone
hi everyone
hi everyone
are we back yet?
its in and out
its in and out
Hello Atalante - you're back from walkies, I'm back from lunch. Back to the grid.....
hey everyone
was babble shut down for a while? I could not log back on.
Evanadine's fans have flooded the website, I reckon.
AND WE'RE BACK!!
woohoo. i hope licketys back too
yeah, im sure thats it -- theyve found me out!
there goes my anonymity!
It works again! It works again! Toddler's up and feeling lousy and I have a lot of packing to do, but I'll pop in andout to serve as a clue reservoir.
all the letters are messed up.
managed to write down about 20 words i found while the server was bussy -- W00t!
They are? Dang! Mine seem to be where they were...
i mean the ones in lickety. if it says like ag4 the letters in the box are ae
Oh. That sucks.
yeah. i think i can manage without it
lickety looks fine to me...
I'll clue when I can
hmm. must be my computer
maybe empty out your cache?
aha. it was the internet thing i was using. future advise. dont use mozilla firefox when playing babble
im using firefox...heh
oh. well. maybe my computer just hates it. who knows.
I have not had any problems with Firefox.
in those kindsa cases, its usually just a matter of needing to clear out your cache...
hmm. thats odd
whats cache?
your temp files ace
oooh. thanks lol
yeah, basically, your computer keeps treack of the pages youve visited to make them load faster when you go back there... its *supposed* to load the new content if there is some, but sometimes they get stuck on what was there the last time you were there + load that instead... you just need to delete those old files now + then to jump-start things...
i see. thank you evanadine
YW :)
Thank you, evandine. That tells me a great deal~!
YW too scarlet!
:-)
whenever my computer brain-farts like that, the first thing i do is clean out my cache + my "history" often, thats enough to make it work... when that doesnt work, i find someone who actually knows something about computers and i cry for help! hehe
good morning, i have a groan
We're listening.
Is the "cache" your bookmarks, e-mail history et al., evan? Hello there, AnnieB!!
a groan?
What is a groan Annie?
I finished the grid yesterday and the day before and my name is not in the "final score" list...dang it
But did your points go up okay on the rankings?
Maybe it's just suffering symptoms of computer headaches, Annie!
scarlet -- theres usually a folder on your computer called "temporary internet files" or something like that... thats your cache...
Would that be hidden away in "File" on the toolbar, evan? Or on the "My compter" slot on "Desktop"?
Haz, I dont follow the rankings...it would make me cry...I just like to see my name in the final scores when I finish the grid....hmmmphhh
He's got an appetite!!!! Sorry to go all off topic on you folks but my poor little boy wants to eat and is drinking water now that he's had his nap. Now I don't have to be as worried!
I have never looked at those archives or history, Annie... wouldn't even know how to find them! LOL
hello again everyone, just made it back from yesterday !!
Annie you are there I just looked at yesterday's archive. Hi all
Oh, never look near the rankings then, it's not worth shedding a tear over. But you know you finished so that's good enough.
Hello, FMitch, Karys and all!
Hello Karys, nice to see you.
Mitch, hi! Am I in the final scores
Hi again Haz and hello Karys
scarlet at the top of your browser page is "tool" click on that and then internet options
Amen, Haz!
Hello FMitch, busy morning?
scarlet -- i believe itll be in your "my computer" somewhere. your "history" is under "tools" in your internet toolbar -- usually theres an option under tools called "options" or "internet options"
then clear history and temp files
Hi Karys. I'm being the clue reservoir at the moment but nobody seems tow ant any, which might be just as well 'cause I have to keep popping in and out.
clue please for pe6/27
Am I being a Big Baby?
well, MG, only just got started, so I'm ok for the minute
Thank you all for listening to my "groan"
Yes you are in the finishers Annie :) Haz- morning flew by but have achieved quite a bit. You?
pe6/27: first 3 letters of an animal skin plus how old you are
how's the injured cocker, Haz?
Thank you MG
I've been to RDA, made lunch for myself, gave the house a quick once over and here I am, back to finish, hopefully.
Atalante, I'll ring now to find out.
thank you MG
Sure.
ga4X6, 5X16, 6X27, 4X6, ge4X6, go4X6, 5X14..what am i missing?
Ata, haven't looked on deviant for a while do you have any new work up there and can you remind me of your url please, Ta
Thank you both, Nono and evan. I opened it, and will explore later... now that I have a path to follow. Haz, if you still have some energy left over, I have ironing to do... LOL
there are a few new things of very varying nature (!) including a hell-hamster drawn for Ankhorite. the url is http://elegaer.deviantart.com/
FMitch: you are missing ga5/18
and i have some vaccuuming that needs doing! ;)
You've picked the right woman, Scarlet. I actually like ironing!
Atalante - the cocker has been x-rayed but no vets about at the minute to ask about results. Fingers crossed he'll be okay.
LOL Monkey I think you don't mean me as I have finished. Thanks Ata wil enjoy a peruse this afternoon
Sure don't! Sorry! Meant ace.
awwww hopefully *crosses fingers too*
talking of animals, it looks like I might be getting a new cat ...
So do I, as a general rule, Haz... I even enjoy starching my beloved's shirts... but there is no baseball on the television to make the chore move quickly!!
Oh how come Ata?
Ata -- i LOVE the knotwork cross with the flowers in it!
ga5X18 hint perty please
ga5/18 - happier than the next person
ga5/18: happier
long story LOL. When I took Sily to the cattery last week, there was a black and white rescue cat there that just drew me to her. But I thought of her for my best friend who wants another cat. Claire was really happy and really enthusiastic, but her mother has just decided no.And no with a capital N. So ... I can't just leave her there ...
thanks haz and monkey. can believe i didnt see that
ty evan!
That's how I felt when Babble pointed it out to me.
Awww, Ata... you of the softest heart.... *Hug*
You're welcome, Ace.
I picked her up this morning, and she flopped in my arms, started purring and then started *kneading* my tshirt. I can't leave her after that!
Double *awwww*
Haz, Has Spangle been injured?
she's big and fluffy and black and white with the hugest whiskers and little ear tufts
Ahh, fate has intervened, she is meant to come home with you :)
Ata, you were destined to take the cat home
Is she like Merrp?
Can you post a photo of her, Ata. Has she told you what her name is, yet?
No, Annie, don't panic! We had an emergency call last night from people who are on holiday and whose cocker was injured. He was admitted for x-rays this morning, a query over spinal injury.
Ata -- i could definitely see some of your work turned into tattoo work -- have you ever designed tattoos for anyone?
yes, she's very Merpp-ish! Am just downloading some photos
OK, anyone need any last-second clues before I go pack again for a while?
Yea!!
Have a good time, Monkey!
Haz, Very happy to hear Spangle is okay and hope the traveling cocker will be fine too
yup, Evan. I love doing it. I deisgned a *gorgeous* full back tattoo for a good friend, one for Sprite (!), and I've now done about 4 others as well :)
MG.....what does the 7 start with please ?
I hope so too, Annie. The owners were very distressed.
The 7 starts with E.
thank you !
Haz, I could well imagine...but I am sure the dog is in very capable hands
Hopefully it will have a happy ending Haz
Atalante, is there a name for the little furball, yet?
Sure!
she's called *Shakira* (!) at the rescue centre. But if I have her, she'll be called Tilly
Off I go to pack. I'll pop in between boxes as Walter lets me. He does seem to be feeling a bit better now.
nice! i might have to commission you, myself. ;) ive always wanted to get a cladagh done over top of my big toe, but since its such a small space, its hard to find something that will work there...
Tilly it is, then. Hello, Tilly... this is your luckiest day!
bye MG
just let me know, evan! :)
welcome to Tilly!!!!
Ata -- your work has me wondering what ELSE i wanna get now...hehe
On the subject of cat names, I had a lady on the phone the other week wanting to make an appointment for her cat to be seen. She warned that it was very fierce, the vet would need to wear gloves, don't touch it without warning etc. I asked the name - Cuddles.
LOL
LOL. Haz!!
And she didn't understand when I laughed out loud. I think she was offended.....
LOL haz!
ok, refresh for shakira / tilly
Oh, such a darling!!
look how long her whiskers are!
could someone tell be where this "final score" list is that anne referred to earlier?
She is royalty, Atalante!
nono,click on archives above chatterbox
Nono, If you look under Archives, click on a date, it will bring up the chat log for the day, headed by a list of the players and the score they achieved.
thnak you
and you can't see the size of her paws there, but they are huge and soft. how could anyone dump that?
nono, I dont think you can access that, I believe you have to go pro
Ata, Tilly is definitely a keeper, what a beauty!
Oh, is that where it is? I will look at that later. Do I need a Rosetta Stone to figure out the codes? LOL
She's very pretty, Atalante. I love the front paws dipped in flour look.
she'd be a nightmare to brush each day, but I can live with that. and I'm hoping she would be a nice companion for Sily. So the two cats can romp around together and leave Hobbit to chill
She is stunning, love the markings and the little pink nose, and oh the paws, and ....I'm going to shut up now :)
Morning, all. Oh, Atalante, she's lovely. And, I'm sure you'll both enjoy the brushing.
her nose is SO pink! like candy floss! and she has big tufts of fur coming from her ears - sooo cute!
117 words eh? alrighty then!
bought a new tv and dvd player yesterday. my highly intelligent cat iggy moved into the dvd player box. then she spotted the box for the remote. she has tried to wedge her fat arse into the opening of that cardboard castle. she is now sitting there yawping at me. she hasn't noticed that shee is more than several times larger than the box.
And how long before you rescue her?
Iggy sounds to be providing as much entertainment as the TV!
i think she has better writers than most tv
70 words... slowing down
well, I'm still hoping Claire's mother will come round, because Tilly would have *such* a spoilt life there. But you can see why I just don't wnat to leave her in the rescue place ... so if I have her, it'll be in about 3 weeks (going off to the US on Wednesday for 2 1/2 weeks)
Whereabouts are you heading this time, Atalante?
Oregon, to visit a friend. hopefully seeing stidmama as well!
Have a great time Ata !!!
Oh, that would be fun. You'll miss the babble picnic planned for Connecticut in the summer time.
Atalante, great trip!
Have a wonderful trip and visit, Atalante!
it should be fun :) we're not planning on doing much apart from wander over to Seattle and Portland on occasions. Otehrwise just enjoy having time with each other

how could anyone *not* love her?! she's my possible new baby, hydra ... well, 95% probably my new baby :)
I love her too, Ata. You must post many photos of her int he future!
if she comes to us, I certainly will!
Must you be qualified as the new adoptive parent before you take her home, Ata?
well the rescue people know me and know my pets so they won't do any home checks etc. In theory, I could just go and pick her up! *squeeeeeeeee*
Wonderful!
Atalante, she is a beauty and she will have a wonderful home!
she's *so* affectionate, one of those cats that just starts purring when you look at her

it's a measurement of volume, not weight btw.

You may have al4/5 - money for the poor. Change the plural letter ending to a vowel for another al4/5
Too late with the clues, you're streaking ahead so fast!
heh, those E's are still anchoring me down though!
I could use the A clues, as I've only got one.
ag4/7 - fever, as described in Shakespearean times.
ag4/6 - Change one vowel in ag4/7
al4/4 add Mr Harvey Oswald to the a
al5/14 - to the drink, add two letters together pronounced f.

The brain had a lot to do with it as well.
could someone clue me the is6 pls?
I think they're still about, Esprit, though not quite so active at the moment.
it's a chemistry thing rolin
rolin, all I can think of is a derivative of is***tric exercise
same formula, different arrangement
ty esprit
only the ga6 to go for the 6's
:-)
what a horse does rolin, plural
(But take out the usual doubled letter of the horse's gait.)
thanks for those ga's
the is, if you still don't have it, is an alternate form of a chemical.

Have a great "rest of the day" everyone.
Afternoon, all. Like to finish this before work intrudes again. Missing Pe6/33, Pe6/27 and Po5/18. Clues, please?

or Pe 6/33's Playhouse
Pe6/33: as in herman of a certain kids show.
pe6/27: fur, wool, or soft covering of a mammal
po 5/18: south american armadillo
44 left.. all 4 and 5's.. :(

he. I need 2 g's, 2 y's, a w, 2 n's and the rest a lot.
2 yls (a 4 and a 5)
a yo 5 - and I don't know what the other is cause I don't have it...
duh.. yo 4... I simply cannot believe I didn't see it sooner
Ty for the P clues. I'm still having trouble with the armadillo one.
there's a yl4
wow.. odd definition. "The initial substance of the universe from which all matter is said to be derived"
Judi - in expressing sympathy the words I say might sound like the po 5. (po ..not me but ...)
po5 could be done as: po + opposite of I
and if you get that yl4, the yl5 is its plural.
that is if I had a bit of a southern accent
Have I just missed a clue for the last pe 6/sa?
oops!@ Make that the pe 6/21?
Ah! TY, Cadfan. Fireworks!
OH1 Good for you Judi..I'm down to my last 4. Back in a few minutes for them - gotta meet with a student

ooh -- did you get the autograph?
congrats rnb
yes, but for them it was probably necessary. GGGG-Grandfather Mowers had only one leg.
inge, I still like swordplay

good evening everyone:)

congratulations mom:)
Thank you, thank you--it was not a solo performance!
Congrats Mom23
Hello all, here for a bit
Hi Mom, and thanks!
you're welcome Mom23
hello Mom:)
Hi Jean
Mom--how did your knitting lesson go? Sweaters all around?
Oh Mom, it was awful
I am still struggling with it
I had to go out and get smaller needles, I just could not work with those size 17's. I find myself adding stitches and don't know why.
thanks for asking.
struggling with knitting? Say it isn't so!
patience is imperative! used to prefer crochet--only 1 stitch at a time to worry about. but am knitting a shawl now after finish a "mommy" warmer project for oldest daughter (new mom)
Oh Yarngurl, it is so.
I'm missing 6 E's, can anyone give me hints on the center E's 2?
Kitthrin, do you have the fish type?
get yourself dsome size 8 needles and plain worsted weight yarn and you will learn very quickly
I didn't find 8's but I found size 9 and they are called beginner needles, I had some yarn here. I have managed to get several inches done for practice but it looks like (well not very good).
Yes, and that's from a different e.
i don't care for the real big needles either. prefer smaller gauges, 9-13.
I've got 2 ee, 1 el, 2 ep, 1 ey
hehe, practice makes perfect. well maybe not perfect but you won't tear out your hair :)
Kit, do you have the french word for sword?
we were told to bring 15 or above needles and chunky yarn and then she had us start on some needles that were above a 19. Talk about clumsy
yes, that's the ep I've got.
good grief! how's you hold 19's?
I taught myself knitting, nothing fancy, and I agree on the smaller needles. I think I use 8's.
*how'd :)
Oh Yarngurl, that is another thing, I don't know how to fix a mistake either. She neglected to tell us. Hopefully the CD's my sweetie got me will help.
dropped stitch?
it was tough. I do have casting on down pat. SHe taught us that using our left thumb and the needle in the right hand
Adding stitches typically comes from the 1st stitch on the row. Check to see that your yarn is going around the back of the needle not the front. The front will pull up the stitch and you think there are 2 to knit
yes, a dropped stitch
Kit, ep + **teoperosis
I am Babbling here in my yarn shop between customers :)
i don't knit or croches in strips--if you can't do it in 1 piece, i don't do it! am just getting comfy picking up dropped stitches, etc. i do some neat one-piece patterns tho.
I wish you were in KY, Yarngurl
and ep 7: ep + third vowel + lone****
on your next row you can pick it up.
and you too Mom
anyone help with the el 5/18 please
no clue what **teoperosis is.. how about the definition of the resultant word?
I do too... the Derby is soon :)
I meant the bone deterioration condition
I've got that ep-one. and the sword.
and Queen Eliz and her husband are coming this year
no kidding
el5/18: mournful poem
hang in there Mom--relax and become one with the needles!
lol Mom, I am trying my darnest
eg + **imony (what he pays her)\
figured it out.
hey, folks, I knit too--it's worth the struggles you have when you first learn
I have had 2 crochet lessons and can do that pretty good. Even managed it left handed. They tell me it doesn't matter in knitting that I am left handed
thnx kitthrin
leen
3e's left :(
I sure hope so Sluggo
are you knitting continental or English?
yarn on the right or left hand?
I believe it is English. My yarn is in the right hand
got to go BBL
bye bye Inge
I find most left handers like continental better. It is a left hand dominant motion that way
bye, Inge
I will try that then. It would be the same 4 steps correct.
and the needle with the stitching on it will still be in the left hand?
yes...
got all my e's :)
yes that is true
she gave us a little poem to help us remember
congrats Kitthrin
google continental knitting; there are some good video clips on the technique. You may find them very helpful
Yarngurl, thank you. I will do that now.
and don't give up :)
Yarngurl, Mom and kitthrin, thank you for the help with knitting. {{Hugs}}
I won't, I promise. Next class isn't until the 2nd Saturday in May.
i learned in 6th grade--yarn in right hand w/lots of hand motion bringing yarn over needle rather than picking up off hand. would like to learn less physical method (would that be continental) to save my right wrist but not sure this old dog's up to it!
picking up the stitch, if I can describe this right, is a matter of working on the next row till you would need to knit into the stitch you missed, and looping the thread through the stitch below before knitting onto it.
a question; after the puzzle is completed, is there some place to look at the answers? thanx
Don;t be afraid to find a different teacher also. Some people can knit beautifully but cant teach a lick
yes that would be continental, Mom23
Piker, not until tomorrow
okay, thank you!
This is offered free through the public library. There is only 2 knit shops in the area, I will have to call around and see.
my mom used to knit like that, but she's not who i learned from. maybe i'll check out the video. ooops, hubby says he's takin' me out to eat---i'm so outta here! thanks for the clues and chat. hugs around!
You're welcome Piker
bye
have fun Mom, enjoy dinner
hi all
Hugs back to you

Nut--I am comparing myself to an armadillo named a po5
guess i never heard it
I have to google an image of this po5
Phone, brb
Euphractus sexcinctus (I kid you not): http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Euphr actus+sexcinctus

ummm, hi....i do believe i need to scoll back and figure out what the heck's going on here!
that's the key, lbdawger; "age-appropriate" means...not on the internet hopefully
kris are u here?
We heard a description of po5, an armadillo, and it could describe me
lol, got it now, and got the word, thanks!
the yl word means "the initial substance of the universe from which all matter is said to be derived." ?!
Inge2, yup, i think reeses is involved with sports and cheerleading...very age appropriate
cool. much healthier

Hi all. Wonderful news Hurshy.
what kind of job?
hi Mom
Hi Lbdawger
well it's front desk/admin, and as i learned the business i would move more into admin and they would then hire someone else for the front desk. they are growing, you see.
*avidly following chat re Hurshy
s job*
cool. what kind of company is it?
always nice to have room for growth
that sounds great. But if it's too far from where you need to be, that is something to weigh
Hi everybody
it's a yacht management company
Hi Buttonman
I just have 4 sixes that I need to finish
hey button
oh that sound neat!
Hi MOM

button, did you see inge's clue for the first pe6.21? the potatoe skin remover gadget
i help whenever i can....whether or not i have asked...but, i do find i can follow certain cluers better than others, to be honest.
Yes, it is the second one I need, IBDA
Le 6 is the National LE****, as in baseball
not that anyone clues better than others, but sometimes, people just don't think alike, or have the same points of reference
well dan, be sure to let us know if you're in that situation, and we'll ask you for a clue so you're free :)
potatoe dawg??
there are so many good cluers and i am so rubbish at it, must seem like a scab most of the time
le 6 is a nautical measure
Dan, well, that is kinda silly. ;-)

And how do we know the theme? I see pictures people have up reflecting it, but don't know where it's announced
my son came back to CT after being away for 10 yrs. he's an aerospace engineer and there's plenty of work in that field in CA. he was lucky to find a job in Danbury
it's on lickety's... check "Icon Themes"
thx, ADHD!

hi jilli
I'll bet!
back later w/toothpicks to hold my eyelids open
let's have a grid around 100 for tomorrow
see you later ADHD
i think it will be 173
my fantasy: a free morning or afternoon and a 500 grid
well, my fantasy as word puzzles go, anyway ;-)
:)
oh wow, is that a fantasy!
I'd never finish a 500 grid in a morning or an afternoon -- amybe 2 of each!
defo 500+ tomorrow...........
but it would be fun
imagine what a grid that size would be like... all the prefixes and suffixes... er, tion, s, re, pre, dis, en, ie, est
remember the last one that was almost 500 !! - I lost it by one word that I couldn't type in fast enough
ouch that must of hurt
entered flip instead !!
oh man, flosey, that's gotta hurt
I think I've only seen a couple over 400
lol
wow, looks like I'm actually gonna be here for a flip!
3 minutes
I expected lots of people to need last minute clues at this time...
depends on the grid vp
yeah, I suppose it does
icon theme will be a word from the grid, if anyone is interested
how about the 7 letter word
ep + vowel + not many
that would be nice wouldn't it
