Hi Jess

really, mm? hmm. i wonder what that'll do to the foolmoon crazies...
good eve all happy babbling
i wonder what time it'll be here in los angeles
Hi groovy
belated flip
Hi, Groovy
you can. but it's not really good for her. too much salt and fat, and not a balanced diet at all, lady.
anyone finished yet?
Monkey Google LUnar eclipse Los Angeles?
Hi, Ping
half way
got 16 left
MM -- it'll be full at 2:52AM til 4:22 am
http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/ LEmono/TLE2007Aug28/TLE2007Aug28.html
you guys are fast !
My vet said no to tuna for cats.
a little bit as a treat once in a while is no big deal, but not a good choice for long-term diet. no vitamins to speak of, and doesn't have the right amino acids.
hi jellen!
i have 2 so far
too much sodium probably...cats get urinary tract infections very easily
hey thanks justa!!!
i have 6 lol
thanks
what's the best diet for a diabetic cat, jess?
Fussy bint only eats Dine cat food
heh. one that's designed for diabetics, ping ;) Hill's Science diet sells M/D and Purina sells DM, which are basically the same thing--high protein, very low carbs.
we use purina DM
that was the worst video clip...no wonder our country is going down the toilet
they are, of course, heinously expensive. so my diabetic cat is on the hairball light (low carb, high fiber), which is less ideal, but he seems to be doing fine on it.
My kitty has snobbed meat products
well, don't cave and give her stuff that's not good for her, lady ;) she'll train you to just feed her boiled chicken or something horrid like that.
EWWWw no i wouldnt do that ewww. I give her that stoopidly expensive Dine kitty food fish or purina turkey. I am keeping track of it in my LJ so i dont have to remember
lol graely. i know. unbelievable.
i had to feed my 16 year old cat gerber's babyfood in her last few months
woohooo over halfway already lol
congrates to Monkey and Graely on finishing
i'm stuck at 22
i didn't finish
lol
My aunt used to feed her dogs chicken necks thats it
i'm stalled out at 21

hi kier
Hi, kier
That is true. Dont get me wrong I do give her different cans of food every day and I have left whiskas for 2 days only for her to be hungry
heya kier

wa6 plz?
where is everyone??!!
wa + where miners work + me
i thought everyone had gone
I came back - Hi Andree Atal & Jakes
so did I!
maybe everyone has finished
Calm your fear, I too am here.
i am finding it really time consuming, harder than the bigger grids
Haz! you're in the grid!
the real haz i hope
ty ata
wa6 - first three letters are the reverse of what's on the end of a dog or cat's foot, the last three letters surround a beverage letter with vowels.
I know, Atlante, I'm so pleased. It happens to inge and peri all the time.
Hi Haz.
Good morning/evening all, by the way.
Silverclaw managed to shut herself in a kitchen cupboard all night. I have such a traumatised cat!
Oh poor cat!
I know! she was Not Happy this morning, and has clung to me since then
That will explain things if your typing is off.
think that happens at some time for cat owners, really awful
well the excuse works for herin!
Yay Haz!!!!! Welcome back. Oh dear Ata, poor Sily.
She didn't yowl?
Hello FMitch!
no! stupid cat! she only howled when I couldnt find her this morning and ran round the house yelling for her!
i have not had a cat for some years but well remember thinking i had lost my cat who was in the linen cupboard for nearly 2 days
th6 plz?
youtube amusement for you all, almost on a par with the Dress: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj3iNxZ 8Dww
Good to see you :)
th6 - follows a definite article with a nervous twitch.
And describes the preceding th5/12.
Haz have you noticed Ata's, er, unique icon :)
Thank you, FMitch - people are relieved to see that I have not been kidnapped and held to ransom by the imposter.
hello all
ty haz
oh no! you must have been frantic, andree!
I have noticed the er unique icon. It is, er, interesting.
Hello Liz!
hi liz and fmitch
good morning Liz
blame fm
Well, FM is to be blamed for most things.
Can she be blamed for Silverclaw being trapped overnight?
quick everyone! duck!
of course
Sheesh, I'm getting the blame again. Oh yes, this time it really is down to me.
So, was there a tortilla art competition while I was away?
The icon not that cat that is.
No, even I can't see how you would be to blame for the cat.
I'm sure it was her fault though, somehow
Actually FranMag started it with a Maralyn Monrole painted on a tortilla, I just suggested Ata could be more creative when she went out to dinner that night.
Could Silverclaw have been so traumatised by the icon that she hid?
clue for the ag7 plz?
And the waiters? Any strange glances Atalante-wards?
LOL thats more like it Haz
yes! this is true! I knew it was her fault really
nm got it
no, no-one noticed. I was most upset
You should have taken the tortilla around the other tables to let them see. That would have got you noticed.
Or offered the photograph to the restaurant so that they could use it for advertising purposes.
People could point to it and say, I'll have one of those, thanks.
ap6 plz?
Or alternatively, don't bring anything resembling that to my table.
I'm not *entirely* sure they'd want one ...
ap6 - a plus a section
Bet the kids would love it tho.
ty again haz
that's a pity...cloud cover is making for a fuzzy lunar eclipse
You're welcome, jakes-mum.
ok 3 left, ar7 plz?
I can see that tortilla art is the way forward. Contact Jamie Oliver so that it can be introduced into the schools.
our sky is clear we should be able to see it soon
ar7/28 - reminds me of one of the characters in The Borrowers - Or, Mr Onassis with the cigar ending
ar7 uses the french end to make something little
argh not Jamie!
Pukka.
annoying
don't stop there , think of what you could do with a couple of lamb shanks
I have a front row view of the eclipse right now and I'm taking video and pictures! It's gorgeous!
I was going to do some knotwork but I didnt have enough sour cream
Beat Jamie about the head?
WIth the lamb shanks, I mean.
he kicked me often enough as a kid at school, I'm sure I should be able to beat him over the head with shanks
You've been kicked by Jamie Oliver?
You were at the same school?
(See the sudden interest arising. Could this be a scoop for the Sunday papers?)
is that why he has such a flat head ata
LOL
I got my question in first. Bags I get the dosh.
good morning everyone:)
Hi Jean !
Good morning jean. We're about to hear scandal about Atalante. What's new, of course?
I thought of it first, was on the phone so culdn't type *stick tongue out and wonders when Haz is going away again*
hi jean
Prove it. The thought, I mean.
lol timed that right me entering the grid lol
Morning jean
Atal gone really quiet...is she already emailing Jamie suggesting a new series around edible art?
Atalante must be going into great detail. Has the memory traumatised her?
hands off , i mentioned the shanks
I have a recording of my synapses if that would help Haz? *quietly hugs Haz and said , didn't mean it*
I mentioned Jamie though.
lol sorry, got called away to admire the dog
Crawler.
Good grief, woman - we're waiting for the story. I can offer exclusive rights.
i would love a new career, maybe ata's agent
lol
lol yeah, we went to the same infants school. he was a brat. his father owned the pub in the village next to the village we lived in. When I say village, our village was 4 houses, his was about 6!
You used to be so nice Haz.
I'm streetwise now.
All that pushing and shoving up the Royal Mile.
it was the same village in which my mother was photographed for a half page pic in The Sun
I take no prisoners.
Your mother was in the Sun?
(Hidden depths to Atalante. This may explain the tortilla art)
yup! LOL
with me in her stomach at the time
Sooooooo, you've been in the Sun by default?
Is that the right expression?
yup!
And hopefully, unless it was for medical story reasons, you were in the womb, rather than the stomach.
I can see how a baby in a stomach would make it into the Sun.
Mind is boggling, waiting with baited breath for explanation to tabloid exposure.
well yes ooooops LOL
lol is very silly
does the Sun have a reputation that I, at least, am not aware of?
The Sun is less known for its cerebral content than its Page 3 pictures of women with large bosoms and tiny brains.
I have mine on order at the newsagent.
what is called a no brainer
in tiny hippy village where mum lived, there wasn't a dr surgery for about 15 miles, and so they used the pub as a dr surgery every wednesday ( or some weekday anyway). and the Sun thought this was a great story and gave a whole page to it, including a big pic of my mum and the dr. Mum just happened to be there at the right time LOL
F*I*R*E*W*O*R*K*S
and the rest of the paper is rather more pictures than words (and words of one syllable only)
Congratulations jakes-mum!
Congrats Jakes !
congratulations jakes-mum:)
Andree, perhaps we could have a discussion on 'who is a no brainer'?
yay jakes
haha haz
Congrats j-m I am going to cry now..... have to chop some onions and get soup going on the stove
Will you use a Jamie Oliver recipe?
Or will you be like Nigella - no apron, hair tossing about and devouring everything in sight?
Nigella is definitely better
she likes choclate cake
No, my own make it up as you go along variety. Oh like the Nigella thought, yes that will be me :)
Atalante, thank you for explaining the Sun thing. I can rest easier now.
lol yes, don't worry, no huge improprieties
I think Nigella makes it up as she goes along as well. You need to be wearing nipped in waists and flouncy skirts.
Such a relief.
and be married to a millionaire
Sigh, had better get frockage out then
how many words today?
Yes, can you imagine the Caroline Aherne question ' What first attracted you to the multi-millionaire Maurice Saatchi?' It wasn't his looks!
51
Just 51 words today.
51
thanks...it was looking tough
it is tough bab
But we are tougher.
last ag5/14 please
lol
we are? go us!
Some of us have been in The Sun. Nothing phases us.
ag5/14 - add three of the letters of precipitation, mixed up slightly.
Or, ag plus a reworking of what we breathe.
thx haz
You're welcome.
I must let you see a photo of Spangle, taken by daughter's boyfriend - black and white and moody. Back in a mo.
moody!
didn't know spangle did moody
It makes her look a bit sad, I'm not used to the black and white thing, but it's well taken, I think.
help with wa6?
oh thats lovely! but yes, a bit droopy
springers manage that sad look so well
wa6 - reverse the three letters of an animal foot, then surround a beverage letter with two vowels the same.
must away for now, hopefully bbl. Happy Babbling everyone:)
bye Jean
Bye Jean!
bye jean

Hello all. 51 words---waaahhhh, I want more to feed my addiction.
Hi all
Hi natasa
Hi Scrabbler - finished?
Hi Natasa
No, I just started, but am disappointed with the small grid.
I was too - but it will keep you busy
hi, all. ar7 please?
especially sad since half the words are wtf? words lol
Hello Angel
lol Raevyn..i think the same
I got the first half and am pretty much just fishing for the rest :P
LOL, raevyn, is that why I am staring at the grid trying to find more than 8 words?
Sorry Angel, I don't have the ar 7 yet either.
Hi Angel . ends in the french ending for little
pretty much lol
Such a strange grid.
I'm up to 16 now.
Hi Merk
I am making slow progress, Merk
I've heard of the ge 4,11 with an -er at the end, but never alone like that.
found the ar7: Mr. Onassis+ vowEl+double consonant+ first vowel.
I found it, too. I didn't hear back from you so I assumed you had it and didn't clue it further.
Can I help with any other bad clues before I go?
oops: the last vowel is the second voewl, not the first.
TY, Merk
OK see you all later...Byee
I don't know, Lynx. I'm plodding along slowly. I feel like I'm in sticky mud.
If you had a particularly difficult one, you can clue that for us, Lynx.
Just realized there are two h tiles. Where did everybody go?
Firewords
hi, gm, I'm here
I am here--staring at the grid
Fireworks***
Yahooo, natasa!
ne 4,4 clue please
wtg Natasa!!!
ne + double cons
Oh, duh, I'm blind. Got it!
im going now..thank you all for your warm welcoming
Bye natasa--come back again.
I mind is in a ha** and always plays tricks on me on short grids. Plus I need my coffee yet.
Bye Natasa
I got up early to see the lunar eclipse and then it ended up too cloudy to view it.
Oh, man, Merk--too bad. The moon was really cool and huge last evening.
ag 7?
So I decided to start on the grid instead, just in case it was a long one ...
and Fireworks.
Yahooo Angel!
ag ... first four letters of the ag 5,14 preceding it.
Great Job, Angel!!
ag7 builds on the previous ag somewhat, includes the 6 point tile toward the end of the word.
Fireworks...and my only consolation is that both the z words, which I found last, were actual words I had heard of before :P
thanks Merk, got it
Yahooo Raevyn!
ty :)
unlike, for example, the wi 5/18 word, which is apparently an Irish Gaelic exclamation of lament. Who comes up with these? lol
Haven't looked at the grid for a bit. If you're still here, congrats Raevyn
I have the ze4, Greek letter--a hint for the other?
pasta, scrabs
and ty merk :)
Argh, how did I miss that? My grandparents came over from Italy.
lol
too bad it wasn't Ireland; you might have a shot at the wi 5/18 :P
I just monkeyed the wi5/18
51 words?
well I hope you let the monkey get in some warmup stretches first, because he's getting a workout today :P
Yes, it is so disappointing, carlee. I am going to save my last 18 for later this afternoon. Time to get ready for work. Bye.
Bye Scrab :)
and I'm going to be off as well, unless anyone needs a clue before I go...for as much good as one clue will do in this weird grid...
th 4,5 the second ... middle one, please
same as th 4/5 the third, only with a vowel in place of the last consonant
no, not disappointing, wonderful!
I have that one. I'm missing the one between the two that both end in vowels.
oops...ok, read the list wrong sorry
i'm going to save it for this afternoon's naptime, yay
lol you got the two hard ones; you'll kick yourself for missing the middle one
replace the last vowel of the one above, with a consonant
lol, you're right. I'm kicking myself. Starting with the wrong t.
lol
ty
yw :) any others anyone needs?
Almost finished. Clue for the wa 6, besides that it's Irish, please
hello everyone :)
no the wi 5/18 was irish...the wa 6/33 is a native american word for a kind of deer
well, elk, actually
hi, mrp :)
Got it, we use that word here in SD.
Hi there mrp, are you having a good day?
Hi everyone
yup, I had heard it before here in MI too...though I don't think I've ever seen one, far as I know...
We have lots of them in the Black Hills.
And fireworks! What do I do for the rest of the day?
oh peri! we watched the lunar eclipse!! amazing!! it is now 9.30pm and the moon is GOLD!
gratz Merk :) want to come go to work for me so I can go back to sleep? lol
seems there are a few angry words in today's grid
<POMPOM TWIRL> for merk..woot woot
It's fitting, carlee, being that the high percentage of nonsense words tend to have that result :P
it looks like a pingpong ball in the sky! just beautiful! it was blood red when it went into eclipse... the kids were so amazed. And my son and I, we both saw a shooting star at the moment of the eclipse... how incredible is that!!
It's cloudly here. I got up at 5 to see it, but no such luck. Did the grid instead.
wow...impressive mrP
I didn't know we were scheduled for one...
Wow mrp, sounds awesome!
Great description, Mr. P.
we sat out on the deck for dinner and watched the eclipse ... in candle light... it was just incredible really!!
Time to eat breakfast, see you tomorrow morning.
and what I loved most... we discussed all the wonderful things about love and life and the universe. How much better can it get!
I'm off too...happy fishing, all :P
my children are magic... that is all I can say
not liking this grid :(
Guten Morgen Babblers, been plodding alongside all of you. Cannot find the ge 4/11. Any clues ?

LOL well I am the real McCoy just ask the god of love :)
*banging pots together*
And Jamie Oliver can vouch for Atalante.
you think we can get him away from you long enough to ask him?
That poor man. He must be worn out by now.
course you can, I let him out occasionally.
For special guest appearances in The Sun?
FIREWORKS!:-) (And, yes, it's the real me.)
I can vouch for Jamie Oliver having a very different accent now to the one he was born with!
Guess what? I've seen Princess Tiiaammiiiiiiiiiiii.

Congratulations Jacua!

Love yr alternative icon Haz, Spangle being dark and mysterious.
Oh, Tanzania, I thought it was Tasmania.
I know - daughter's boyfriend took it last night. A new side to Spangle.
Black and white photography is so effective.
Spangle the Scurrilous
Trips over own feet in rush to look at latest pic from Ata BRB

ty fireworks
Congratulations!

Bye Lynn.
howdee and greetings on this day of the tiny grid LOL
Hello BDG. It's not a big grid, that's for sure.
had to stare at it for more than 10 seconds to find a word. this bodes not well.
thanks Haz
I'm glad you got the word, plantgirl.
Normal words do emerge eventually, BDG, but there are some not yet encountered ones as well.
yeah, i can tell -- it says there's two Zs for instance . . . 8-)
one of the Z's is a yummy pasta. :)
miss piggy here knows it well. :)
There's one of each variety in the z words (for me, anyway)
TY, found bot the Zs
eegad a muppet! LOL
(been enjoying the DVDs of the Muppet Show season 2 lately)
heh, was never actually a muppets fan, though i did grow up watching the muppet babies cartoon. :)
hmmm, i might be too lod for that . . .
lod = old (i hope)
The Muppets were/are great family viewing.
i always loved beaker...heh
beaker!!!!!
and gonzo!!!!
"meep meep!"
i nominate tenzip to be a word
Pigs in Space!!
how about "tearip" -- gets the job done twice. :)
or earip -- how not to take off your earing
that happened to me once. *ouchie*
me too chicken to have pierced ears. a wimp with a capital w
so, have that bottom A-word yet?
nope ... working on the 2nd T right now
now hunting the bottom a, though ...
oh, a baby grid
hah, as for me, i had to have the 1st holes done 3 times before they stayed. then i was addicted + ended up with 4 holes in each ear. then the top one on the right ear got badly infected, so i had it pierced all the way up top. then that one got badly infected, so really now i have 4 in my left and 3 in my right. ended up having to have surgery on the right ear to remove the keloids. had my nose pierced instead. :)
phamtoms: apnea, apneic
leslie -- this baby has big sharp te5!
oh, yuck, infected piercings! now I am twice as chicken LOL
i keep seeing apnea too!
what are you getting pierced, gwen?
won't take appui
well, when i was younger, i didnt take good care of them. but apparently im just more prone to infection than most people...do i just dont get anything done anymore. :) just tattoos now...hah
bottom "a" word -- a + cut a p**** of pie for me
i had some problems with my ears, but only because i went to places in the mall. if you go to places that use a needle instead of a gun it's less likely to get infected
NOTHING!! LOLOL
argh, i was having fun looking for that, jen. but tx anyway
Grandbaby Day! So I get to Babble. Everyone thinks I do it for love ( but it's really for their computer ).
51 words, i bet it's a toughie?
hello gramma and jane!
sorry, should have asked if you wanted a clue first . . .
kick me for that one!
i have 21 words and am getting stuck already
Hello gramma and harpjane. It's 'challenging'. Make of that what you will.
26 here...halfway!
and with that, im gonna rest my brain and do some work...back soon!
he everyone. stuck on 21 also
I have 1 left WA6?
Bye for now EvaNadine.
anyone have the last ag 5?
wa6 - reverse what Spangle walks on (three letters), surround a beverage letter with two vowels.
bye eva
ag5/14 - add the Spanish river (female version)
arrg is not a word? how can that be?
haz, your clue just made my brain fall out of my head
I think it would be arrgh.
i think it's argh.
argh!!
and that is ** Fireworks **
hooooray clc!
argh!!
ty haz!
Seemed fairly easy today. Must have drank the right brain juice this morning.
Dear goodness, are you going to sue me, BDG?
Finally! TY. I'd been dinking around th** word forever.
wa6 - three letters of a dog/cat/animal foot, reversed, not he, not she, but ** then same vowel.
hmmm, litigation, interesting . . .
well everyone else can use gwen's brain to make brain juice for the rest of us
BBL
Oh, *now* i get the beverage letter clue
Emotional distress, disfigurement, you could ruin me.
Aha - light has dawned!
yay fireworks :o)
but how to call a lawyer without a brain . . .
yayyyy jen!
Congratulations Jen!
Yay! Jen34
ty :o)
Go for a lawyer with a brain.
It's their conscience that is lacking.
haz is right, that usually works out better
now, what am I going to do for the rest of the day?
sniff
voting for waze to be a word
Well, Jen, you could sign in again under another name and astonish us all with your brilliance?
can't even avoid dangling my participles. need a new brain
lol haz
As in, we have waze and means of making you talk?
no, no, no, as in all mimsey were the wazes
well, off to sudoku -- happy babbling all!
phantom: attic
I'll have to get into Lewis Carroll mode.
bye jen, hope sudoku takes you forever
He wasn't gifted, you know, he just had trouble spelling and nobody wanted to tell him.
:o) *poof*
ByeJen.
Bye all. I have to do some actual work today. Have a great day everyone.
bye clc!
Such a shame, CLC. Have a good day as well.
oooh, found another word!
way too many a's in this puzzle
and not enough Ss
Hey haz! G'd morning all. :-)
hello lori
Hello Lori!
howdee and welcome to yon Tinygrid, Leslie!
(i mean Lori, not Leslie, oh whatever)
It was a small but weird grid this day.....
eh, all us L names are the same :)
LOL BDG
The fast pace of the word finding has had a profound effect on BDG> that, and her brain falling out.
yeah, i'm amazed she can still type
Just popped in to say Hi before I go to work. ***sigh***
no, it was your pixillated clue, haz LOL
oooh, found another word
is it kinda like a chicken where they keep running around after you cut off their head? gwen keeps babbling
ar7?
Well, this work nonsense seems to be a major problem for babblers.
ar7 - a little operatic solo.
Work greatly interferes with my escapism.
I don't know. The chicken stops eventually. If we hear dead silence from BDG, we'll know the worst.
blaaaaaaagh . . . . . . .
Is BDG having an A.D.D. type morning?
I can recommend being on maternity leave.
23 years of it so far, in my case.
Ack! Haz!!!!!! I have 4 Don't even go there.......... :)
as opposed to what, lori? 8-)
any clues for Ag 7,56 please?
I only have 2. I just didn't go back to work.
LOL I just returned to work last fall when the youngets started school. The additional paycheque is nice. Now we're working poor, instead of poor.
ag7 - use the stone mentioned in ag5/14 - give it an ending using the high scoring buzzy letter.
seano, take the 5, and privat*** that corporation.
found the last w, silly word
thanks
lori, Ty, another silly word
thanks haz
You're welcome, seano.
That one stumped me for a bit. Then I clued in via the point total.
found the silly U word, OY
At least the vowels have the good sense to be in alphabetical order.
lol, haz
LOL, well, reality bites, and I am off to work.
bye lori
Have 'yerselves a great day everybody!
Have a good day, Lori.
later, lori
nominate the word gaup
Too close to gawp. There'd be problems.
gaup sounds like a skin condition
darn
"Little Mickey can't come to school today, he has the gaup."
Peeping Toms gawp, I don't know who gaups.
can't come in to work today. got the gaup.
shoot, you beat me to the punchline again.
gotta type faster
The galloping gaup is the acute condition.
we're just reinforcing the idea, gwen
Whereas a galloping gawp would be a peeping Tom on horseback.
oh, i like that galloping gaup. sounds horrid 8-)
Yay! My first ever fireworks!
huge congrats, flippy!!
wtg flippy!!
Doesn't it? It would be the equivalent of double pneumonia - only the really dramatic would suffer from it.
Well done superflippy!
Thanks! I played waiting for FedEx to arrive. Still not here, almost 2 hrs. late.
what are you getting?
To every cloud there is a silver lining.
any clues for ga 6,27 please?
2 large pieces of redwood to make a mantel and a coffee table.
ga6/27 - what Marie Antoinette did not recommend. French cake.
who is making them?
incurable addict...incurable lurker...wake up each day looking forward to my quota of good, clean laughing at you wonderful babblers...thank you for great clues and a joyful start to each day...my hat's off to you!
ga6, the dorrway to the gardon + french word for water
ty nana, and howdee
My husband will make the mantel. We need to hire someone to make legs for the table.
thanks again haz
we are pretty hilarious.
Good morning ddb - you should speak up more often!
sounds neat, flippy
You're welcome, seano.
One day I dream of being fast enough to clue!
ge 4/11 please
im not enjoying this grid
ge**, i can't believe you can't find it, gb
Oh, pooh. This is a weenie little grid.
ge4/11 - American term of surprise.
Thanks, Leslie. I've wanted a redwood coffee table since I was little.
ge** Louise!
Hello mark - it's not terribly user friendly, is it?
Morning babblers!
hello mark and charm
Hello Charm, Judi - everyone's arriving at once.
normally i have 50-60 words by now...i have 19 today
and judi
Some children dream of cars, I dreamt of furniture.
Hi, LeslieAnn!
well if you had 50-60 words today you'd be done
i know
well put up a picture when it's done flippy, and we will admire it
be back soon, small chore to finish
greenbaylady, u have inspired me to change my icon
Getting the brain back in, BDG?
See you later!
just a small chore, that stuffing the brain back in
Wil it be through the ears?
They're not pierced so there's no infection likely via that route.
that seems to make the most sense
I thought so, Leslie.
ha 4/10 please
Now, there's a great grid. 1st LeslieAnn 'brain' remark then Haz's comment. I love this place!
fireworks
Yay, seano
ha4/10 - I see through the mist dimly. Could that be my name appearing?
purple ha**
hooray seano!!
yay seano, and hi all
Well done,seano!
Hello MVA!
hello mva
came back to try to find last few, brain not working this am!!
But it hasn't fallen out?
straight to the list with 19 to go
no haz, just about still where it shoukd be!
There's a relief. Apparently one of my clues caused BDG's brain to fall out. Litigation may be avoided if I keep on the right side of her.
must have been some clue!!!
I hadn't thought it out of the ordinary, but maybe a week's break has got me out of practice. I'll issue a health warning in future.
lol!
And thereby deny all responsibility for aching brains etc.
Okay, I can hear all the brains working at full strength to find the words. I'm going to take Spangle for a walk and leave you to your deliberations. Have a good day and I'll check back later. Bye for now.
bye haz, thanks for all the amusement
bye haz, enjoy your walk
Will do - byee!
my cat and dog are fighting, and the cat just jumped up on top of a chair in order to jump down directly onto the dog's head
way to go cat!
i know, i keep pulling them apart because i'm worried about the little guy, but he is learning to hold his own
Your house is like mine, LeslieAnne. My dog - who's old enough to know better - likes to chase flies.
Bye all. Happy babbling and see y'all tomorrow.

hopefully my cat hasn't done too much damage!!!

haz, thanks for letting me know i'm not the only one in here 8-)
woo hoo fireworks!!
That's okay. And congratulations!
I'm just back after walking the dog.
adding th6 to me collection of weird words . . .
That collection is bound to be bulging by now.
over 400 pages, as paginated by MSWord
lessee . . . it ways i have . . .
You're not going to print it, though? Think of all those trees.
. . . over 24,000 words. Yipes!
ways=says
And are they all weird? Or has your definition of weird changed and modified with time?
and no way in hell am i gonna print it. the whole point of it is to search for words beginning TH-- or whatever. i add to it and sort it a lot
Watch out or somebody will accuse you of cheating...
I heard someone thought clues should be abolished as well.
some of the words are doubled, because there are patterns i lay out. example: the four letters IORT in a little square yields 5 words, so I have all 5 listed together under each possible header. See?
not cheating. i use it mainly for cheating on OTHER words games LOL
Have you ever thought of therapy?
but when one gets stuck here, one has Lickety, and a2z, and clues, and whatever else. All cheating?
haz, you can tell therapy has done nothing for me.
I know. I'm a terrible cheat.
I don't know which the therapist would tackle first - the babble addiction or the word ordering obsession.
The 12 step programme might have to be reviewed.
cure me of "obsession" and i will cease to exist
We can't have that. It's bad enough if your brain disappears, we can't have the rest of you going as well.
and those 12-step programs won't work. i have no higher power
You'd better just enjoy yourself, then.
Time to dive into this grid!
Hello Jade - enjoy..
Hey there, Haz!
time fo rme to cut out. see y'all tomorrow, assuming i'm not swamped as usual 8-) *splash!*
Bye BEG!
How are you today, Jade? Coping with the fame of being a broadcaster?
Doing well enough, Haz. Thanks for asking!
May I have a clue for the ge4,11? The middle one?
That's good.
It's interesting to say the least
ge4/11 - American expression of surprise
Thanks, Haz!
No problem.

Hi carra
I am... feeling as if I have bitten off too much for the coming school year. I am going to be helping my mother in her classroom several days a week, and have also said I would help three different people at my children's old elementary school. And I _still_ don't have my office cleaned up at home!
LOL otherwise, life is GOOD!

*sigh* I know -- of course, we don't do things like that anyway (but there are days it's tempting) -- BUT we are known as the unreasonable parentals who restrict or remove computer and TV privileges for getting anything less than a B in school!

I'm learning anglo-saxon, slowly, but I guess that's a bit too far back for you

I tried that too. I've studied Tolkien's works for ages, and got very into ANglo-Saxon / germanic languages from there
Tolkien has lots of Anglo-Saxon echoes in LOTR. He was a fellow philologist(which is what I really am)
I have a big Tolkien seminar to exhibit at in a few weeks. Should be fun. Next year, I'm hoping to give a talk there as well on the Rohirrim and Anglo-saxon doom motifs
What fun!!
absolutely. I spend too much time writing articles about such things, from the Tolkien side rather than the language side
th6/24?
lideola: sounds like the title of a cartoon comedy starring a large blue insect
good clue thanks
th6 - definite article + bity thing

Atalante, we need a pipeline from the back of my head to your fingers!
It stems from doing my PhD with a supervisor who *loved* publishing things ... I got to write soooo many papers

you can only vote once in the poll, and only once a month at podcast alley
Goodbye featherbee! I will see you tomorrow in the log
Vote accomplished. I think I voted twice, actually
And is there proportional representation?
That way it can take a fortnight to work out who won.
uh oh
i'm confused by haz...
good job jellen!
hate this grid, i'm gonna go play sims for a bit instead
I've confused nutty? I must be getting better.
ge4/11, that's a word? that's a change of pace.
Hey Nut how do we vote on podcast
ahhh... it's hummingbird season! they're fighting over my feeder. hehe

Anybody home? No chat entry for 9 minutes.
Hi scrabbler we are all trying to work out the words
no scrabs no one is here
aknitter Hi
OK, just checking. I was ascared that I was all alone.
hi tiny
hey I am not noone
Hi Tiny! You are someone important!!
I need one more G--I gave ga x 3, ge x 3, and gr x 1--what's missing?
thank you scrabbler I was just joking with aknitter as it was said noone was here and I had just answered you
scrabbler! just the person i was thinking of a few minutes ago. how long does the newborn peeling stage last? i can't remember daniel peeling so long!
just started scrabs can't help yet sorry
daniel just helped me bathe nick, now we're all getting warmed up
It can last a few wks--esp ankles and wrists.
there are 4 ga's
I know, Tiny, and I wanted to validate your existence!
ok, we've only been peeling about one week. poor flaky guy!
Guten Abend, BAbblers. Is Hurshy still here?
Evening all.
Scrabbs - There are 3 ga4s and 1 ga6.
jac, how are ya?
thank you there are 3 ga 4's and one ga 6
It is just shedding, Feather. Shedding of layers he had when he was living in amniotic fluid. Now he is in the air.
gotta go do stories with the guys, was just checking in while daniel dried off.
Hi Jacula
hi jacula, feather, ak, Tiny, Scrabbler, and anyone i Missed
Hi, ak. Fine, thanks. You?
I just checked in, Inge, so I haven't seen hurshy
yeah, i knew that, about the shedding....am just anxiously waiting for it to stop! i dust him off while we're nursing...gives me somthing to do...
just ducky here
Hi inge
Grooming, feather, LOL
hands feather a feather duster
feather - just wait until the 'cradlecap' arrives. :(
yeah, i'm the momma monkey!
Hurshy was chatting about an hour ago. I read the chat, but had no time to pipe up. I will catch her anothr time
never had that with daniel, hopefully we'll be lucky again
gotta go for real, bye
OK, G's are done--TY for hint.
feather - my son got it but my daughter (2nd child) didn't.
'Bye feather/heather.
The lone A on the bottom--a hint please?
hi all
totally forgot about babble til just right now...thank God it's only 51 words, cuz I might have an issue if it were 500 with only a few hours to go, lol
Scrabbs - ap6 (per person/each)
Hi, CsCde.
Scrab, when you are buying several alike items, they cost $5 ap****
hi jacula
hand me some glass cleaner...i spy yankee symbols
Just checked out tomorrow's theme (today's here, as it's after midnight). .. 'Exercise'. Yuk!
TY, Jacula und Inge
scrubbing at computer screen
ROFLOL, ak.
how do u think i feel? i'm a die-hard yankees fan, been so all my life, and the first thing i literally wake up yesterday is my tv saying, "...the worst road loss ever for the yankees" and then seeing a 16-0 loss, lol
Do you dislike the NY Yankees. AK?
*yawn* morning all :)
My sister loves the Yankees, and plans on marrying Derek Jeter someday.
scrabs i am from massachusetts, yankees???? i must go wash my fingers off for typing that word
Hi MRP!
Hi, Mrp. (It is really you, I take it?)
poor poor cscde, and just where are the red sox???
Red Sox Nation!!
All this football/baseball talk, whichever it is, goes over my head I'm afraid.
yes jac... tis me!
Atop the division
shall we talk cricket?
ak - No!
I need one more R--I have ra4 x 2
... nor football (soccer), nor rugby.
I have an eyeball ache... and it is creeping into my brain... bring on the migrane!
good cause as far as i know a cricket is a bug
busy losing to the yankees right now 2-1 hahaha
Scrabb - ra5 - add a vowel to the angry one.
Yuck, poor, MRP! ragea
ahh we are 8 games up so who cares
Poor Mrp!
waving red sox pompoms in the air
the whole division could change very quickly with some good play from the yanks...got two 3-game series with boston
Scrabbs - wrong vowel! LOL
Oh, dear, I blew it....trudging off to sit on the naughty chair
I got so excited, Jacula, that I typed the word in before I sent off my chat entry. Babble makes me so impulsive.
hi everyone! oh dear, mrp do something proactive against that migraine. owie!
Speaking of chairs - my gas-lift typists' chair died today. Paul sat on it and nearly hit his chin on the desk as it sank to the lowest it could go. LOL. Guess I'mm be shopping for a new chair at the weekend.
Next, that W==I have wh4 and wi5--a hint for the 3rd?
akn - think about 2 numbers: 1978 and 14 games in front...now think about who won the division that year :D
good play and yankees in the same sentence - oxymoron
hi dawg!
wa6/33 - another word for an elk.
wa + anagram of ti4
Did you witness Paul's drop?
TY, Jacula!!
1978 -- can't remember that far back LOL
Hi Mr P
Scrabbs - I did! :D
4 left and no list yet--just intense mugging for clues.
Hi tiny! :))
speaking of baseball, ag 4/6 - famous mets centerfielder from the "amazin's" lol
Hello, tiny.
It is kind of funny although not for Paul---a good story to tell forever now.
sounds more like selective amnesia to me, ak, lol
The P--pi x 5 and pu x 1--the other 2?
Wasn't his fault, Scrabbs. It's about 10 years' old and had been creaking ominously for a few weeks before its demise.
2 pu's scrab
amnesia ..... hmmmm forgot the question
Aha, I hear a kitty
pu4 x 2, pu5 x 1
Hi dawger! ty
you could flush the kitty and get to pu words LOL
Scrabbs - If you hear a kitty it's probably mine; he usually brings me something dead home at about 12.30.
red sox nation seems to be the most amnesia-filled fans out there...u win one world series, choke for the other 100 years, and all of a sudden there's a red sox "nation"...must be nice to be able to play badly and choke only to blame it on a curse on a whim, only to win 1 world series and say they were just the better team
Gross, what cats do, but that is their normal behavior
must not be the cubs fault for losing for 99 years either...they've got the curse of the goat...it's not that they stink or anything
So far this week I've been presented with 2 dead squabs (baby pigeons) 1 small, 1 large + a very small mouse.
It took multiple tries, but I got the 3rd pu4--TY
curses are real.... we have sent it from boston to new york
And tonight's special feature in Babble Land, is Baseball Trash Talking, with aknitter & CsCdeFounder.
ak - sending curses isn't very sporting, surely? *shocked face*
no, sadly enough, new york cursed themselves (and i said this would happen before the season)...when they decided to treat Bernie Williams, one of the most beloved Yankees (and one of my fav. players), like total crap, the Yanks cursed themselves
clues for pi5,12 and 4,5 please
well i also have a voodoo doll LOL
BAseball fans, esp NY Yankees and Boston red Sox are devoted, loyal, and intensely competitive.
pi 5/12= pi + Greek letter
well that, and signing A-rod...i like a-rod as a baseball player, but can't stand him as a yankee and i actually hope he decided to opt out of his contract at the end of the season and goes elsewhere
blah blah blah sport blah blah blah sport blah
I need an E--I have ea4 meaning under
and then there
pi 4/5 pocket bread; deep hole + first vowel
and then there's johnny!!
ty
et4 scrabs
ak - I hope not! Years ago, at work, a girl made a plasticine doll to represent our horrible supervisor and put some of the supervisor's hair (pinched from her hairbrush) on it. When she stuck a pin in its head our supervisor had to go home with a migraine! It scared the life out of the girl that did it! LOL
NM, found it
pita
how did i ever miss that one?
poop!
funny, Jacula!!
Hello, all. Back between laundry loads
LOL jac, didn't know it really worked
One word left, a T on the left.
air freshener anyone?
lol
That reminds me--I should do laundry too....ah, I'll do it tomorrow night.
and don't even get me started roger "i'm a wh*re" clemens...absolutely can't stand the guy and abhor that the yanks signed him
ak - I think, if the intent is there, it can do.:(
th5 = a Greek letter?
scrabs what reminded you of your laundry? the voodoo doll ? the poop?
last ha?
Scrabbs - te5 , maybe? The pearly things in your mouth.
roger clemens Hahahahahahah
csc, let us know how you really feel :)
No, Jellen said she was returning from laundry
Csc...just started reading the chat...as a Cubs fan, i give you a raspberry...pbbbbbbt
th6= definite article + involuntary spasm
last ha 4/10 - seeing thru the fog or the ha**
lol dan
I have that one, Jac.thetic
actually danf, the cubs are my 2nd favorite team, lol
scrabbs!!
Oh, man, I am in big trouble again. Hazel will probably show up now.
leave it to me to miss the obvious ones
ty
what are you doing?
Last ha = ha4/10 - think of a nut (a filbert) and take the last letter off.
scrabs, th plus two vowels
i still won't like the yankee's, no matter how much you try to butter me up
;-)
yeah dan!!
Scrabbs - you're in double trouble now for mentioned the Ballymena One's name at this precise moment! LOL
Sorry, folks. Tonight I have been suffering from BIS, Babble Impulsivity Syndrome.
cubs, yankees and red sox fans are probably the most devout fans in baseball, so you'll never get any of them to like one of the other teams...it's just in the blood, lol
Scrabbs - get Callie to finish the grid for you!
You're not calling Hazel and reporting me, are you, Jacula?
True C...I have been a Cubs fan in San Diego since I met Ernie Banks as a kid...imagine the play off here in 84! What a nightmare!
Well, I am done! That aforementioned th6 was my last one.
we have a Haz hot line all set up scrabs
but look on the bright side, danf...for every 100 minus 1 years of choking, "cursed" red sox baseball, you can have 100 years minus 1 of bad, Steve Bartman baseball :D~
OK, I will accept responsibility for my errors and will repent!
whoooo hooooo SCRABBLER
you all will be bowing before me when the RED sox win the world series
Scrabbs - No. I was referring to the nut I was trying to clue for an ha word without saying the word!
It's not if you win or lose, it's how you play the game...or so people keep telling me :-(
YEA SCRABBLER!!!
Strange video today---ophthalmology lesson.
(knitter, i think they won recently, didn't they?)
Ah, Jacula, but the word is concealed within her name. (Poor excuse)
and we shall win again
maybe, maybe not...that's what the playoffs are for
finished... perception was my worst subject at uni LOL
i think it's ingrained into red sox and yankees fans' heads...the only real question is that if you're a fan of one of those teams, which do you hope for more...do you hope your team wins it all or that the other team loses badly
i have the ze word, might there be a clue for the other z word?
Well done, MrP!
Does God care whether the Yankees or Red Sox win? Yahoo MRP!
whoooo hooooo MRP
zi4 (pasta), ak.
a pasta knitter
ze4=Greek letter, zi4=pasta
of course scrabs that is why we are ahead by 8
i don't know about God, scrab, but someone certainly made a deal with the devil in 2004
I have to check on dinner--wild rice!
why ty for that z clue
zi spot + 3rd vowel
i love pasta
Time for a tablet... head is hurting too much... bbl
Scrabbs - you mind that rice hasn't wrecked the kitchen while you've had your eye off it! LOL What's it wild about anyway? Have you upset it?
prezzie babbbbie
ag7?
Feel better soon, MrP.xx
Hello, nut!
pictures crazed rice running amok in scrabs kitchen
(((MRP)))
NUTTY! i'm listening to babble cast!
hello jacie atacky
oh gooooody dawggy!!!
and did you vote?
ag7 = ag* (cooking range) + first 4 letters of a soft drink which used the score 6 tile.
I still remember after the Red Sox won, there was a fake commercial on the internet about someone coming to clloect from all the fans who said they would give their left testicle for a Sox Championship...I still laugh ove dennis Miller going over the transcript, saying "yep, that sounds like me alright!"
LOL dan, missed that one
No, the rice is not overheating because dopey SCrabbler turned the stove off when she poured the rice in the boiling water. Argh.
I've voted in the poll but can't listen to the Babblecast at present as there is no headphone slot in this stupid new computer and I don't want your dulcet tones (Nut) to wake Paul up.
my yankees fanaticism aside, we should've won the series in 2004 in 5 games. We lost Game 4 fair and square, but it was a bunch of bad and blown calls by the umps in game 5 that cost us the win and eventually series, since we only needed 1 game to win. Everyone knows deep down that the league just wanted Boston to win the series because it made for better drama on TV to have Boston go against the Cards. The whole series rigged...RIGGED RIGGED RIGGED, i tell ya
gasp!!!! cscde!!
ah booger, but you can still vote at podcast alley, that'll help dr god in the long run
Scrabbs - Oh dear! A senior moment back there?
yay, back to finish! one kid asleep, the other on his way
we've jumped from 70 to 52
is that a soft drink i would know...?
graely - the drink is like a big stripey cat from India but with a different middle letter.
Nut--I am listening to the Aug 24th podcast, with your Mom, the lunch lady!
(Think of Shere Khan from The Jungle Book.)
he he he...best lunch lady ever!
huh...never knew THAT was a word...lol ty
i need to go catch up on the casts
That clue about Shere Khan was for graely. I wasn't referring to Nut's Mom! LOL
you do feather
mmm hmmm...he he he jacula
y/w, graely.
aside from all the history though, the red sox will reap what they sow and pay for their envy and jealousy. The last few years, they've been spending money just like the Yankees have, and we all know where that has gotten the Yanks. Funny how the Yanks are the "evil empire" and always "buy" their championships, which is total crap, but when the Red Sox go out and spend just as much money, they aren't evil, they're just smart. Double standard when it comes to both teams. Must be a pity thing for Boston fans.
I will never forget our lunch lady, Mrs Dingleberry. She was evil and scary. Did you ever see the Danny DiVito/Billy Crystal move, Throw Momma From The Train? Mrs DIngleberry looked and acted like the Momma.
Oh no! Now, should I ever meet Nut and her family her Mom's gonna handbag me! *whimpers*
I've been on the phone. Are you all still talking baseball?
dingleberry? quite a name.
boston folks are smarter than new york folks that is a proven fact LOL that is why i am having such a hard time with this stoopid grid
dingleberry is what we call it when our long haired cat has a "clinger" on her bottom from the litter box
An unforgettable name for an unforgettable woman. We ate in fear!
LOL, Feather!
lol, feather
Scrabbs - we had a dinner (lunch) lady like that, too. Her name was Mrs. Evans and she used to blow her whistle in my ear if I ate too slowly. I used to get 'otitis media' (middle ear infection) quite frequently and swallowing and chewing was VERY painful so blowing a whistle in my ear just made things worse. My Mum sorted the horrible woman out!
so from my viewpoint, an EXTREMELY unfortunate name for her!
Dingleberry! ROFLOL
Two words: Bill Buckner
oh g4/11
amnesia clearing up, eh? lol
ok, did my vote for the podcast
still quite foggy here
No sign of my hunter cat with my dead gift yet... I hope he's not towing a cow home. There's been a lot of mooing coming down the hill tonight!
and also figured out what "neckondisher" was. had to have daniel repeat it about 6 times before i realized he wanted his air conditioner off
LOL, feather.
and i was just laughing at the image of your hunter bringing home the beef@
How do I vote? I didn't see anything? And, Nut, your Mom is a sweetheart!
LOL jac, a cow would be a great gift. shall i light the grill?
LOL, feather--you must write that one down!
oh, i love the words he mangles. waxuum is vacuum, moodjic is music, etc.
scrabs - poll here -
actually it's more joodjic for music
http://babble-cast.blogspot.com/
When my daughter was a tiny tot and she didn't like something on the radio or record player she'd say, 'SHUP NOISE!' Loosely translated that meant ' Shut up the noise!' She still uses her original toddler phrase today at times. *grins*
lol, that's great jac!
And I remember when my oldest nephew told me that boys have pe***** and girls have Virginias
vote podcast alley here http://babble-cast.blogspot.com/
Our son, now age 43, called the airconditioner the "dundundun" . We still use that word soemtimes

ah, ok, i'm hearing actual words now. brb.

My daughter once wrote in a report at first school that her brother had received a 'pair of cods' for Christmas. (Cord jeans.) We still call cords 'cods' to this day!

ga4/6 = fence door
I have that one Jellen.
Garden ga4/6
why the reminders to download nut?
My daughter also once wrote that her granddad (my Dad) and his friend, Ted, went into the bluebell wood together every night'. That sounded TERRIBLE! Goodness knows what the teacher thought! My Dad & Mum and their friends Vera & Ted used to walk their numerous dogs up the local hills every night and the bluebell wood was en route.
feather, cause if you play it from the site it gets warped
ar 7 please

You'll be delighted to know that our revered one from Ballymena (the filbert nut) also misread something today. I said that my kids had gone off to Tanzania at the crack of dawn and she thought I said Tasmania.

ahhhh, The Borrowers! Boy, did THAT capture me as a kid!
Why IS it that however low you kneel or sit you can leap up again without even thinking about it until some time afte your 45th birthday??
Life is sooooo cruel!

mel, when you clean the frig, you have to pu*** a lot of things
binge and pu*** Meliae
pu5 - to get rid of all at once
pu5/18 is to cleanse perhaps by vomiting?
pu5 is to get rid of everything
whooo hoooo FRAN

I took the Golden An and gave it to Fran, who takes it to Dan. That's the plan
there are some funny signs on that site Dan, did you check them out?
ra + *** whiz!
ra5/14 = double up the vowel ending on the angry word.
ra5 is ra4+same vowel
lol dan
thank you
te 5/12 please
your pearly whites mel
te5/12 - the things you chew with in your mouth.
I looked at some of them...they seem a little expensive (3.99 a button), so I'm still looking
th 6/24 please
thank you
*** end + lyme disease pest
you could probably get a button making kit and design your own dan.
you could probably get a button making kit and design your own dan.
th6/24 = th* (definite article) + blood-sucking pest that causes Lyme's Disease.
oh, i didn't even look at the prices! lol
that was weird, i didn't press enter twice!
gotta go work for a bit...bbl

The only word that stumped me was wa6/33 but I'll remember it's an elk in future.
nm got it
thanks, jace==did not look for that
an elk Jacula? I need that one
i actually found that one myself (knowing i was looking for a wa6 though), don't know how i knew it though.
wa + 'Have pi**!' Imagine a woman in an old black and white silent movie, tied to a railway line. (I wonder why they liked doing that???)
wa + cherry *** (seed) + personal pronoun
wa + ti4/5 (reverse the syllables)
Change the sometimes vowel to the first vowel in the 2nd section.
wa 6/33
Mel - we've just been clueing that.

thank you*
Congratulations Meliae :)
does phil helmuth ENJOY being an insufferable #$&*($%?
mel is this an assistant for work you're interviewing?
Congrats, meliae!!
i don't know hursh, who is he?
yes a lady to come in and help with my ladies I am just getting too worn out, so I am hiring someone to come in a few days a week
Hi Hurshy --- who is Phil Helmuth
he's one of the most irritating professional poker players.
ah, thanks
all the other poker phils are great.
then he probably does enjoy it
I have never seen the poker programs
Well done, Mel.
sounds good mel!
BTW, Mel - the lady your about to interview is probably far more nerve-wracked than you are!
congrats, mel
one rotten phil can spoil it for everyone.
i've only watched the celebrity poker, the one hosted by the "kids in the hall" guy.
*you're
that is so true hursh
ok I have a question or rather would like to get an opinion, my neighbor lady said I could get in trouble for only interviewing women to come in, but I would just feel better having a woman here, rather than a man since I will be sleeping while she is here, and also part of her duties is bathing my ladies helping them get dressed etc, am I setting myself up to get into trouble?
AGH, one left and it is a six letter one. I have ap, th, wa ... what am I missing
I know nothing about poker. (Other than the implement for the fire). I have enought vices. LOL
ga 6/27 mom
i wouldn't think so, meliae, who are your "ladies"?
Mel - I don't know. The 'PC Brigade' has done so much harm to the world! If you want a female, you hire one.
I am with you Meliae, I would only want ladies also
i wouldn't worry about it mel
I take care of mentally handicapped adults
you could always interview men and just not hire them
ga6 - French cake.
mel - I can understand you wanting a woman for the post.
I was just about to say, it was a g word. I am dense tonight
yeah that is what I was thinking if a guy calls I will do the interview but the ad I put in the paper says ladies
off to look for Jacula's clue
hursh - good advice. Keep the bloody PC Brigade happy.
Mel, what Hursh just said. you can't discriminate in the interview process. You're personal choice is what matters and that she meet your requirements.
good evening all. can someone tell me what the point value for the GA6 (french cake?) is?
Hi Bernice
i don't know though, there are other jobs that will only hire women, and for lots worse reasons - like strip clubs
ga6 = garden door + first two letters of antipodean country where Sydney opera house is situated.
hi mom
ga6/27 bernice
ga6.27 Bernice
ty
27, and hi, bernice
these ladies have no sense of hmm how do I put it, they dont know how to say no, and if a man said take off your clothes they would, and not think anything about having sex
what state do you live in meliae?
THank you so much Jacula, that clue did it. :)
and it is fireworks for me
Actually, i don't think you need to worry Mel. The situation is unique in hiring the right person who will not take advantage of the women in your care
2 of the 5 I take care of have had children that were taken away by the state, and they have no clue who the fathers were
y/w, Mom.
yay mom!
Hi
yay, mom
Hi Home
yay Mom!
hi, HomeatLast
mel, it would be different if you were hiring 20 caregivers rather than 1.
woo hoo mom
Thank you, Jacula, Fran, Pam and Meilae
Thank you Bernice
whooo hoooo Mom!
Hi HAL
they have all been homeless (which is how they ended up here) the state brought them to me
mel - if the PC Brigade come calling you just have to explain that to them. Tell them that having a male around, whether or not he could be 'tempted' would just inflame them.
Bless you Mel, for taking care of them
4 are on birth control just in case and one is sterile I think she had her tubes tied
no kidding, i could never do that kind of work mel
how old are your ladies?
its jusk like baby sitting most days, only they are really big kids, lol!
it seems like in this case mel, being a woman is actually a requirement and a male would have a really hard time proving they would be better for the job than the woman you end up hiring.
youngest is 36 oldest is 68
The one thing that doesn't 'go' with mental illness or any illness, unless drugs damp it down, is the sex drive. Or, rather, the ur4 to feel 'loved' and 'wanted'.
that would require some help
they range in cognitive age from 6 to 13ish
mel, federal law only applies to employers with 15 or more employees. there may be state or local laws, i can look if you tell me what state/city you're in
mel - That is really, really hard work you do every day. I take my posh wedding hat off to you!xxx
Springfield Oregon
Im not getting very far here.
I fall under state guidleine and county since I get help from both
that's exactly what i was thinking hursh, it wouldn't apply to a small business.
what do you need home?
I'll leave you in USa to help Mel with what she 'can and can't do' re advertising for a female employee.
the state I get foodstamps from, and the county pays my wage, or prolly federal too, since I am their payees for their SSI checks, and have to keep track of every dime they spend
I have no idea what rules apply in USA.
I fully understand, Mel. I worked with severely and profoundly developmentally disabled adults for years. The staffs were coed, and in NY, so were the residents. The staff cared for all residents, gender aside. But, i know that, eventually, the men bathed the men and the women the women.
One thing I do know though is that caring for the mentally ill is never easy in any language!
a huge responsibility Meliae
did you know, that if I leave too much money in their individual checking accounts, that the feds will take away their money? how damn stupid is that!!!
In MA, I worked with both genders for co-workers, but the Residents were men. Both the men and the women helped bathe and shower the men.
I have 25 words. Where are the clues that I see you talking about? Like wa6/23?
home, there is a link below the stats for "lickety's babble clues"
I think I will get ready for bed. Welcome back Jacula, I missed you. Thanks so much for the great clues. Good night and pleasant dreams.
Homelast - click on the 'help' icon just above here to see an explanation of how the grid works.
Funny, how deeply ingrained is the notion that women are nurturing and etc. and should/can care for the needs of all whereas when it comes to men, the other hot buttons get pushed...
night mom!
Good night Fran
'Night, Mom. You missed me? Aw.xx
last year we wer saving to go to Disnayland so I was saving each persons money in their accounts and I got a letter from SSI about it, and how come their money was not being used to take care of them
nini Mom
no kidding pam.
Sure did Jac! Good night
good night Meliae
night mom, sweet dreams
oh I have nothing against men caretakers they are awesome, just dont want one in my home lol! unless it was someone I have known for a few years at least
thanks LBD, pleasant dreams
pam - It's not that men aren't caring or cannot be 'above temptation', as I think I've been trying to say... but, truth is... many mentally disabled folks are older and have been brought up (ingrained) with the fact that you do not show weakness and/or disrobe before people of the opposite sex.
ar 7/28 anyone?
Oh, I agree, Jac, I was just commenting....
I saw that so often on my Dad's ward. M'Mad' they may appear, but they still try to maintain their dignity until the holes in their brain render them no longer able to say so.
Not these ladies Jac, they would jump into bed with a man in 3 seconds flat, I dont know if its from being homeless, or from being taken advantage of in the past, but they have a libido that is way strong
When I worked at the Assisted Living community--no one wanted a male aide. Even the men thought that it was women's work--a generational and cultural thing. And these were not developmentally challenged adults
shirlock, ar + personal pronoun + marion**** (string puppet)
ar7/28 - think of the daughter from the book or the film of The Borrowers and knock the last letter off her name.
Well, Mel, it is also that their impulse control and sense of inhibition is not developed. It is not so much a different level of libido, it is the other undeveloped areas requiring more sophisticated thought processes
Mel - I know. (HUGS)
exactly body wise they have the impulse to procreate etc but mentally they cannot handle it, or rather do not understand the consequences, IE STD, pregnancy etc
mel - i can't find anything specific on your area, but i am pretty sure that when you are hiring someone to work in your home you are allowed to... i mean, like, i know that my landlords, just having an in-law apartment, were allowed to discriminate in renting however they wanted bc it was in their home.
Mel - it's all about being noticed/being important/being loved/being noticed. Parents! They F**k you up, though they don't mean to, etc.
ok Hurshy thank you for looking
it probably would have been better not to mention it in the ad, i suppose... if you're not hiring someone quickly and you can change the ad, you might as well.
thanks for the ar clues
yw shirl
its only a 3 day ad so it will run out tommorow
and if you want to be further reassured, there are lots of nice lawyers you can call who will answer a simple question like that for free. i called a lawyer once and he helped me know about suing dry cleaners. :)
Mel - just run a 'non-gender specific' ad next. See who turns up.
i found a lawyer who represents employers who get sued for discrimination - in oregon - you could call him if you want.
When the right person turns up, whatever gender they are, you will know because you will feel at home with them. So will your ladies.
well the ladies are getting restless they are all dressed up, and cleaned their rooms to meet the new person I am hiring, I am letting them sit in so I can watch their reactions to the people I am interviewing, at least for part of the interview.
that's good mel. they sound excited about it.
Sounds like a plan, Mel, but keep your sane eye on 'the ball' so to speak. Trust to instinct.
trust to instinct and run background checks.
yeah Like kids I am getting do I have to mind them? can I still watch tv in my room until 10 all kinds of questions, I keep reassuring them nothing will change, we are just getting some help
hello, back for my last 19
Hi, harp.
hi harp!
great icon harp!
Hello harp, and bye for now everyone I will be back for the flip, thank you for your insight and help =)
bye mel!
Mel - You are the sane one and the prospective employer. Whilst keeping a mind to what your ladies might like, you also have to stay rational.xx
Go with YOUR gut intinct.
of course Jac I will ~waves good bye~
hey harp
*instinct.
night mel
and run background checks!
'Bye Mel and BEST OF LUCK TO YOU ALL!
yes they are getting background checks through the police dept, ok I am really leaving now, lol bye
mel - let us know what happens.
check this site out, it tells you how many people in the US have a certain name. All estimates i'm sure, but fun www.howmanyofme.com
it say 0 people have my name (except me I guess)
i have a little "cat"echism. it has questions like: "is it important to have a martin?" "what makes mitty so pretty?" "is there more to life than being really really really incredibly good-looking?"
Fran? What? It's my 2nd name.
teehee.
148 people have my name.
Frances Magbual, my full name...actually it just says it's really rare.
remember i said in the U.S. jac.
that's a pretty small amount too jellen.
nobody has my name, but 171 people have my name before i got married.
ga6?
Apparently there are 757 peoplle in US with my maiden surname.
1,924 people have my maiden name
harp, french for cake
Like I said before, it's rare!
thanks
there are like 300,000 with my maiden surname, lol, but i expected as much.
harp - gooey Chocolate cake, maybe French?
yw
0 people have my last name, it says - my mother, father and brother must not exist?
Just off to check my very common in UK maried surname out now...
118,043 with my last name
wow, we all have unusual names then
hi btw
over a million with my maiden surname! it's the 8th most popular last name.
Hi, Ping!
Lots of pams, not so many, 393, last name and a zero probability of someone with both my first and my last, LOL
Hi, ping
hi ping!
PING
hi jellen - fran and pam! DAWG
1,879,601 people in US with that surname. 4th most popular surname. LOL
is the theme of the day pig, by chance
i realize that meliae is gone now, but i'd like to point out that people with disabilities are not necessarily BORN wanting to disrobe in front of strangers. But they lose their sense of boundaries with so many people coming in and out, even a stranger can provide personal care if you are told they are "staff"
gee ping, how'd you guess?
my sister got married in july and she now has the 17th most popular surname
ping, i guess it means that it's so unusual, it's just a handful
fran, true enough
wow jac, that's more than mine!
i'm psychic, harpjane, as i'm sure you can tell
Ping - so sorry to hear your family d oesn't exist. You should all have a party together to celebrate that and put in you Youtube. LOL
my icon is also a pig - if you squint
LOL jacula!
my babble shirt arrived
Smith, Brown, Jones, Evans used to be the most common surnames in UK. Lsat time I was actually sad enought to physically count in the phonebook, 'Ali' had outnumbered those. At the time, BT hadn't got the hang of the 'Ali' bit in Asian names.
I would like a Babble shirt but the shipping cost to UK is more than the shirt costs!
harp - re the mental patients post... she knows.
evenink

parenthood has reduced me to cliches!

Speaking of mental illness, if anyone thing senile dementia is just forgetfulness in old age then I would suggest they visit YouTube and view Malcom and Barbara parts 1-4 which shows most of it. Alzheimer's in whatever form is often glossed over as 'forgetting things'. The reality is far more macabre and awful both for the suffer and for the carer. Incidentally, in the UK carers (i.e. wives and/or family) save the NHS £57 BILLIION per year in care costs. Why? Because they blackmail us into keeping on keeping on.
ga6 is a french cake

I remember my Dad talking about the green man in the bush in the garden, and then came the gibberish... this truly is the most cruel disease of all.
bbs - changing computers
it really is jac, my father died too young to develop the disease, but his only sister had it
Shame I had 4 house floods, a divroce, my daughter becoming anoretic and having to put her into a 'nuthouse' to keep her alive and my Dad going down with this all at the same time. Tough times!

i like ge 4/11
They think they can plant them and then forget htem but they cannot. ANyway, law's been passed here that they can get no highter than 8 feet now in certain cirumstances. *Wonders if she can wander over road to revamped since last November' house that 'they don't look like gardening folk' have just moved into and nip offf the tops of all 16 leylandii around outer fence at height of fence without their glaring (and extremely annoying, glaring on all night lighs spotting her doing the deed. If I did do it, they bush out lower down and cover the fence quite nicely and wouldn't go on to become 40 foot light blockers.
mistress...did you forget us? :)
She also says hi and has served a plate of choc chip cookies (homemade of course!) to one and all

However, when Woman Next Door was last talking to me in a friendly phase when her epilepsy hadn't convinced her we are now smoking her out, she told me how she hated the woman over there for all her bragging.
Um!
I have been informed that oh so 'posh' woman next door once punched another mother up at the school out over the bonnet of anothre mother 4x4 over some row beetween their kids. All I can say to that is... how did tis people come to get the money to buy houses here??
