Hello, I am having trouble with this lunch time snooze. Any other clues please?
Oh, just got it, nm
not sure if it is the one you mean, kathw. But it might be ce5/12: if a parent has sex with his or her child, it is called in****. Add a vowel.
thanks Sprite, i could get 'nap' out of my mind!
lol, that was my first thought too when I saw what you quoted. Mexican nap would have helped ;)
Hello
hi lady! Did you see jilli today?
Maybe
jilli was worried yesterday that you had taken offence against the joke she had posted. That is why I asked.
Oh no none offense taken. i was looking at places to live or being asleep
I thought so, but you know jilli, she is a kind soul and was afraid she had hurt your feelings in some way. How is the hunting going? No success yet?
I was not offended. No luck with hunting. Waiting for a place to call back
I am so praying for you, lady. You deserve a good place to live and prosper. How about the moronic housemate and the job offer from his side?
Thanks. Housemate job offer not spoken since. I cant wait to move
seems high time to leave the oaf behind! I will keep sending good vibes and wishes your way, hun.
Thanks so much
you deserve no less, lady. Never doubt it.
I am so tired of looking. I hope to go to bed soon
I bet. And you should, you need some sleep to keep up with the stress of househunting.
I think babble keeps me sane
god, I know that feeling!
Its not stressful persay its a pain as we were on the road last sat from 10am till 4pm and yesterday 8:30am to 2:30pm and today from 3pm till 6pm (shopping needed to be done)
OH and on the plus side we got heaps of stuff discounted
that is marvellous. Take it as a good sign... you need a place to put the stuff ;)
No Food. We got discounted food
oh lol, sorry. You already have a place to put food, of course.
Yep. We got stuff on special saved about $15 on our food bill
very well done.
Yep it was great
my darling husband just brought me eggs & bacon... on bread... and he laid out the bread in the form of a heart. Can you believe it, after 14 years together? That man still touches my heart like no one can.

White Kitty. Shes in my Flicka pics
no don't get me wrong hubby andi love each other but he's not the romantic type.... know he loves me as he has helped me recover from anorexia and we went through IVF to get my beautiful baby girl

Yes and that is why im going to bed early tonight
lol
oh, catep, I didn't think there was no love! It's just nice to have the cuddles and romance too. But what you say, is much more important. He stands by you, that is what counts. Btw, I salute you to have recovered from anorexia. That is a helluva way to travel. So is IVF. You and gorgeous girl doing well now?
You are very blessed to ahve such a wonderful family

got it right away from fab bab's clue
any and all food parcels gratefully accepted
*humbly suggests: what the heck kind of word is sm6/21 as just clued by BabbleRabble?*
*and sends westford a stack of pancakes*
of course!!
yum
I dont get that ME 6 7
colored glass or similar vitreous material used in mosaic - thats what the heck kind of word...
let's be honest, Jandy... it is as close to a babblet as any word will come, lol.
we're having a conundrum we leave the garage door slightly ajar in case our boy cat doesn't come in so he'll have a place to go
Not the appendage at the outer edge of each foot, which is what it made me think about!
the sucker-bearing arms creatures are in the grid
tonight as we were about to leave my husband saw a skunk go in there probably to keep warm
Yes, sprite, I believe I will struggle to use it in a sentence tomorrow. Or ever!
omg westford... not what you intended!
Clue for the me 6 7
skunk came out again with no spraying but now we can't keep the door open
I wonder if skunk off would work
Now we have dirty great six foot kangaroos that jump in front of the car, but we do NOT have skunks to contend with!
thank you shoelessdwarf, from a Mum in England
ok, java and toasts, now let's see the board :
Farr that kitty of yours is sweet
if a 6 ft kangaroo jumped in front of my car that would be the end of driving for me
anything nice happening for you today chrissie?
what is skunk off herin?
clue please for the ME 6 8
ME 6 7 i mean
Jandy: hi mum, I just spent the morning glueing sm6/21 into the shapes of an inia and an anoa. Ywis!
Synthetic skunk spray
Don't you have deer or moose or buffaloes or something!
No, met up with my children last week for my birthday, too far to do it again this week
not so close to us jandy but they're pretty common up in Maine
anyone useing the clues with firefox (mac) ?
all the above, but nothing is more hazardous than other drivers
are you in the Uk and are you a Mum shoeless?
Oh sprite, you make it so easy! Grin. Will do so tomorrow. Though I could freak my mother out in her latter days if she thought I was doing craft of any sort!
sorry Farruska, not me
for the third time any soding help for the ME 6 / 7 please
thank you herinfernallady :) that's a drawng of my real kitty (named Farrusko )
i am in london and i am a daughter
I was thinking about using firefox as I too have a mac do you like it?
No Farruska, sorry
not started the grid yet herin
we did mothers day yesterday, as my mum's away today
Go back to sprite's clue, herin, at 3.46
west- i find firefox absolutely fantastic, and would recommend it to anyone.
Anyone please
And BR, when you really get scared is when you see a kangaroo driving...
@westford it's the only browser I use for 10 years, first on win. I only open IE to test applications at work
BabbleRabble: there was this taxi driver in New York once who had never had one single accident. When they asked him how he managed that, he said: As soon as I grab the steering wheel, I pretend I am the only sane person in the world, and all others are insane beyond salvation.
i didn't see it
wonders if there is a gadfly day
No worries, herin!
netscape was recommended for this game so that's what I play on but I hear netscape is going away
Probably, BR, somewhere in the world...
I generally close my eyes and use cruise control
Can someone please just tell me the second letter and number of letters for the U on the bottom row? Thanks!
I play with the lickety browser, which works with IE, and it is perfectly behaving so far.
Hello again - westford why dont you have your boy cat neutered
Much the same principle as my own, BR.
SO can anyone reclue it please
Sprite, I hope you don't mean while you're driving! LOL!
@westford firefox is standards compliant ; I used to use netscape (died some days ago, no more new versions of netscape) . But my question was about the clues page behaviour in Firefox mac (so game related guys)
of course I do, Jandy, it keeps me focussed :)
boy cat has been neutered
And makes long trips pass by so much quicker, I imagine! I'm jealous...
googled gadfly and love the word - BR I think you should name your birthday as Gadfly Day
he just likes to visit
girl cats have been spayed
ANYONE help me please ME 6 7 for the fifth millionth time . Or is someone else right about me not being liked
me 6 -- extend the me4, preceding, and add b** and arrow

Hi Chrissie

Watching Jerkle very good
is the Lickety's Babble Clues updated ?
ok, didn't know, must have missed you going there then, BabbleRabble. What kind of food parcel would you like to receive there?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/jekyll/ this is what im watching
no food; winning lottery ticket
must be, Farruska, the Babble Expert works fine, so the clues must be up.
Farr lickety is updated
And maybe some soap and a safety razor?
dang, I keep geting yesterday's clue (already cleaned cache)
*winning lottery ticket on its way*
Its a random thing at the moment due to MR Pres in hospital
I am not suicidal
watching soaps could drive someone suicidal though
I'm delighted to hear it, BR, but I was thinking more about the rules. Watch out, your pants are falling down since they took your belt...
relieved to here that BR, who would do the silly jokes
tough being in the PB
Awwwwwwww...........
Yah for decent telly shows
but you can come out at your own descretion, BabbleRabble. Whenever suits you.
And sprite, if you're so good on the winning lottery tickets, why didn't you sent me one for last night? I got the wrong one. Again!
that would be discretion, I think. Sorry.
I am meditating
Jandy, it is even worse. I never keep the winning one for myself!
ah, good. The world could do with more meditating.
Grin, sprite. We need to talk. Seriously.
RRRRRaaa
that sounds like fun, Jandy :D
my mantra is "where's the money!"

My PC had a hissy fit... back now. BR, your icon looks like something from a dream you might have when you watched Donnie Darko while eating MSG laden food...
BabbleRabble latin I'd say
If you know what I mean..
going to get the list if it's there
that is my disguise for a bad hair day
Or a bad hare day...
61 left

And get your teeth into them...
I find your profile text very fascinating, BabbleRabble. I will have to think on this one for a while. Thanks :)
no

No, herin?

Right... to The List, methinks..
at 7 -- consumed; and where's the **ne* + a vowel

Me neither, sprite!
10 -- the process of making a head roll
and the 10 leads to both 8s.
author truman is in the grid
Are both 8s CAs?
I just saw him

Clue for the al 6/21 would be luvly, if anyone has it..
but is english too :D I'm on german mindset
nearly
BabbleRabble , nö, it's written the exact same way
not quite jandy
nearly is a clue
as is not quite
Thanks BR.... can't repeat what I just said when I saw it...
co 5 -- add a pause: interl***
And thanks west, too! Be glad we don't have sound...
would that be your palm slapping your forehead?
That would be indeed... repeatedly, LOL!
lol

e 5 -- add the all purpose tape and and pl

I would greatly appreciate the ce 6/21 please
and ty for the tape clues as well
Spooky, that's the very one I'm looking for, west!
wow, nice going with the clues :D Thanks BabbleRabble.
s 6 -- finishes like a little village or shakespear play
I've tried every combination I think
hmmm
ce 6 -- add one that seems impervious ****c
Thanks BR, that was in a grid quite recently, I think. If only I could REMEMBER them!

english is not my 1st language and studying german 20 hours per week makes my brain freeze :-D
Love it, Br, and thanks!
and thanks lynxxx for the ec, finally got it.
the fun part, Farruska, is challenging yourself... you set the bar wherever you are comfortable
*makes note to self to remember that one*
BabbleRabble :) i know. 2 years ago I used to finish this grids, now I just have to practice again :D
Farr your kitty is so cute
herinfernallady :) you should see his real picture on my flickr then, even cuter

good morning all
morning Eva
hello, Eva
morning Eva
Hi Eva
HI Eva
bye everyone, fading fast here
sleep well, lynxxx! *hug*
night lynxxx
night lynxx
dams
be well, lynxxx
sorry!
lol
hehehe
both ca8 come from ca7 ?
the other ca8 comes from the de10, Farruska.
same first 5 letters
sprite great! thanks
yw :)
the das are easy lol
:)
one thing I never understood (ok and didn't look) is what the numbers in each letter in the board represent
like the M has a tiny 2, the X a 6
the points for each letter, Farruska. An X is worth 6 points, the M is worth 2 points. When you add the points, you get the points to5l of the word (for 4 letter words). For longer words, the to5 goes times 2, times 3 etc.
sprite oh, logic ! thanks :-)
and sorry for the letter behind the to5 that I didn't erase :(
sprite hm so if a xpto4 is worth 5 points and xpto12 is worth 12 points and derives from xpto4 , the missing letter should be worth 12-5 = 7 ?
don't think there are any 7 points'letters, lol, but yes, that would be correct.
sprite excately my problem :D no 7 points letters
or I'm reading the clues wrong
doesn't da5,12 derive from da4,5 ?
(sorry so many questions, just need to get the hand of riding this bicycle again)
but the da5 goes times 2, because it is a 5 letter word
Must go, guys. Will try and finish in the morning. Have a good day/night/out of body experience/whatever!
so you need to take 6 points, (12 / 2), for the actual points amount.
bye Jandy, sleep well!
Sprite
Thanks Sprite!
lady?
I was just at facebook and now you can block those annoying add on requests
Night Jandy
HiEveryone...
sprite ah! now I get it :))) thanks.
oh lady, wonderful! I might be back to facebook then... I just couldn't keep up. Thanks hun, for telling me :)
hi red!
REDDDDDDDDDD
im about to sleep
yay Farruska :)
fireworks here. Wonderful grid!
hi Sprite and Herin andFarruska...
congrats, sprite
hello redturtlehead
YAH SPrite
mymuse, if you read this: I totally love your choice of vid!
congrats sprite...
thanks all :) Can I help with clues before I go?
I am right Sprite
sprite I tough I got it but didn't :( the math thing that is
just getting started sprite 46 words, cant use clues yet...
Farruska: LAPS would be 1 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 5 points. LAPSE would be 1 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 6 points, but because it is a 5-letter word, it is 6 x 2 = 12 points.
night
so if you would be looking for LAPSE, knowing it was built on LAPS, you would have to think like this: la5/12 means it is 12 points for a 5 letter word, so the actual points would be 12 divided by 2 = 6 points. The LA4/5 is worth 5 points, so I am missing a 1 point letter.
night
sleep well, lady, I hope you dream well and rest even better
@sprite, except I've tried every 1 point combination (i think) :(
ok, which missing word are we talking about? :)
da5/12? Double the consonant of the 4, lol
:D the da5,12 which I'm assuming derives from the da4,5
@sprite , ok I'm going to do that and bang my head against the wall :D
it does, but the added letter is not at the end :D
grin... it is called babble blindness and we all suffer from it, regularly. Don't bang too hard. You might need that head later today.
hehe :-D but than you for the help !
phantom...tomato...
you're mo4 welcome!
you say tomato, I say potato...
oh yes potato too...
ok, I am off, you all have fun babbling and a great day/night/whatever as well. Thanks for the help and the fun company :D

Ooh! Which one, Farruska?
one of the ce5 , don't know if the same word exists in english, but it does in portuguese :D
all ce's done :D
None of them are English but I think they have Greek and Latin roots, hence the Portuguese, I suppose.
Is that your cat, Farruska? What a wonderful ball of fur!
Well, I just went and weighed, and am now just about 8 pounds still from my goal weight for this month...since i have a holiday coming up, I can't imagine making it...
Hi Lilli!!!
I haven't dared get on the scales for months, red. I can tell my waistbands are tight, though.
hi red!!
I am scale obsessive. right now it feels like the only thing I can control, so I am veryrigid about it...but it is still taking time to lose the weight.
Coooooooooooooooooeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeee!!!
i'm trying to lose weight for my hols in a few weeks aswell red, but i can't stand on the scales!! any excuse!!

Awful Lilli...
did you have a nice time last night flask?
Have you heard of www.freerice.com? You have to guess meanings of words and every time you get one rice, you donate free rice to people who are starving. I do it every day.
how are you? have you heard anything from any agencies yet?
I am submitted toone Hospital in Fl, they called me on Wednesday, I missed the call, and since then they have not called meback...but they have not offerred to anyone else either.
Sorry to butt in like that. I've meant to tell Babbers about it for ages.
not heard of that hydra, i'll have to have a look later.
Otherwise,I am going to have to go to coral Gables, which is nice, but like 6 hours from my original plan.
very tired......home at 1.30am.......slightly the worse for wear....and a bit hoarse!
I have played on Free rice, it is fun.
hydra it's my kitty cat yes :-)
well, i hope you get the 1st one then red
I'm glad, red. I'm trying to spread the word. I thought it was a con at first, but I read a newspaper article about it and it's quite genuine.
So have I.....and yes, it is fun!
Gorgeous puss, Farruska. What is his/her name?
I hope so too, thanks Lilli, we'll see. I try to bepilosophical about it and say its all forthe best, but...

Ok Papaya, orange,mango, and hmmmm
you'll have to email the recipe lil
I admit toputting morebread in the meatloaf than is acceptable.
sounds so delish red! and low-cal
I just had papaya and oatmeal fro breakfast.
that sounds nice red
What I really want now is mashed potatos.
OK i will do that, cheeky... the key is to start with a nice mixture of ground meat (beef, pork, )
red, a friend of mine who is vegan swears by mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes
you canuse turkey too...
i'm not a big potato eater, but i do like butternut squash
Potatos are not vegan?
I like cauliflower.
yes but she considers them "empty" calories, i guess because they are starch
My secret is to add spinach to the taters, and today, asparagus.
i always mash my cauliflower and i put some mayo and some dijon mustard in and its lovely
Well yes. but I liek carbohydrates.
i'll have to try that cheeky
OK...
I am getting lickety.
do you leave the cauli lumpy or mash it real smooth????
Any word on how MrP is?
i do have a few lumps in, just depends on my mood at the time!!
Have not heard...
she was on yesterday for a few minutes and seemed ok, she's still in hospital
Is that the lumps on you're head that you're talking about, Lillian??
Oh well, thats good!
lol Flask... i think she means the lumps on her butt
lol flask!!
Oh no Lil...they're warts!!
you know what is irritating...
i don't know why i talk to you two as you're both mean to me!!!

All these Body Mass Index charts are ever so slightly different.

And there speaks the Queen of Mean....lol!!
you're so right flask!
Oh they are credible, National institue of Health, Weight watchers,etc...
and they are only slightly different.
hmmmmppphhhhh!!

Sorry, Carlee, I would have awoken earlier if I had known you were looking for me, LOL.
sa6/21: short version of strongest man in Bible + allow

Hello nutterbutter
ok...going back in. this time to concentrate....too busy for me now.....lol

ec7 clue please
my mam lives in france ylleria and i think they have mothers day later in the year, but it is grandmothers day there today....but i still send her a mothers day card for today

I had to monkey that one, and it took me *forEVER*
and ever!
*sulking, not greeting ANYBODY*
hi nut
Oh, I could have medicated them into delirium, at least for a while.
*kicks lil monkey in the bum*
ec7: ec + mythical perfect place minus initial U
hey lil
waaaaaaaah
lil, you can't come out your corner until you play nicely, sulking or not!
Oh stick bubbly......lil.....lol
lil* is a big baby....
a different way of thinking of ec7 is tubal pregnancy, substitute a vowel for final cons
nutty kicked my bum, now monkeys are flying out of it
oh, stop whinging lil!!
cheeky can't even spell!
hehehe..love that word whinging
haha
You had bettr stop that crying, lil*monkey, or I'll really give you something to cry about. (a quote from Scrabbler's father throughout childhood)
*pulls lil monkeys ears*
ladies!! c'mon now
ty both
ty tyger
scrabbler must have had the same dad as me
yw :)
and me :-)
*thumbs n ose at lil monkey*
First Flask left because we are socializing like children. Next it will be Rolin, or *GASP* Hazel will arrive.
*picks nose & flings*
ha! i EAT boogers
lmao.....
you better hope haz doesn't come and find out what you've been up to!
now, thats just disgusting!!!
if Haz arrives and sees my icon, all HE double hockey sticks will break loose
Haha, monkey---and did you hear this too? "If you don't quiet down back there I am going to turn this car around and we will go back home."
I'm sorely tempted to go elsewhere. I only came in to clue
hey...i work with chn my working week...this is NOTHING...lol
*gives lil monkey a wedgie* ew skid marks
scrabs, no i didn't hear that one... my mom would just reach over the front seat and slap our legs
they are quotes from my parents aswell scrabs.....all parents must use the same manual!!
nutty eats boogers!
monkey..youre icon is great..lol
my neice and nephew are always bickering, mari says my brother go the children he deserved after the way we were growing up
packing up the muffins...
*your
Good morning everyone!
TY rolin
not all. I never heard either of those. OTOH, I was an only, and thoroughly in awe of my father :P
ummmm snickerdoodles
hey, Uni
Don't carlee, some of us are being good
hi uni
gm uni
good is overrated, bad is the new good
morning uni
mornign uni... I think we're are suffering from cabin fever...
LMAO with your icon, lil*monkey!!
its brilliant!
And who heard this? "Don't make me take my belt off and come up there! Now go to sleep!"
i would hide as there is booger throwing and wedgies , but atleast you missed the poo throwing!!!
scrabs, how's Mary?
Haha, Nut--great phrase!
i heard "go get my belt"
we didn't have the belt saying but threatened with a sore bum scrabs!
bit of a ma6.30 chat this morning... hi everyone, happy Sunday!
I plan on hiding from Scrabbler's fathers belt...you weren't *allowed* to do that during my childhood. I just got spanked from my fathers MASSIVE hands. :(
Great news for Mary!! The remaining tumor is tiny! (4x3x3mm). It has shrunk dramatically in the last 3 wks! Chemo is working!!
hi aloy
uni, my father had big, hard hands, too :shiver:
i'm jealous
all four corners of the grid are dark...:)
wonderful news, Scrabbler!
anyone know how MrP is getting on?
Hi Aloy--welcome to Babble version of Romper Room. It certainly is not Mr Rogers' Neighborhood.
hi aloy
yay! I can't wait to tell the others praying for her here!
WOOHOOO for mary.... <<HAPPY DANCE>>> with a <purple glittery pomom tossy twirl cartwheel>>
mrp is hanging out in the hospital with the antibiotics
Hi there
Hi there
Uni, you are so cute as an M&M... i'm going to go do it too
hey, ionie
scrabs, that is great news, glad she is doing well.
MRP is in HOSPITAL again?
hi ionie
some wonderful words are in the grid today.
bbl, lunch ready.
she's not healing, her arm is being ornery
hi ionie
COuld someone tell me how many words? and what is the longest?
I have made so many MM people! This is me pre-haircut, lol! I have one I am writing a life story for...she rocks
Yes, MAry's husband is SOOOO excited. He said, "I think we might beat this." He is optimistic yet afraid to be hopeful. It has been a hellish several months.
phantom: maelstrom
bloody hell
Hi ionie
bye lill, take care
219 words with a 10 being the longest
Well, ups for Mary, down for MrP. Maybe they can share the good
it's easy to understand why he would be scared to hope, scrabs
Thanks a heap - I'm Denny's mum btw!!
I didn't know MrP was having problems again :(
219 words, longest is a de10
ionie, the 10 is very easy
She was on the other night from hospital, getting some much needed rest I think, there must be a lot of pain
Welcome Denny's mum--your grandkids are darn cute!!
hi denny's mom...
How manypoints for the 10?
Does anyone do rubber stamping with embossing?
hey, there's a Babbler in the grid.
Hah, now you lot have to behave, we have COMPANY!
i did that once katie, it was fun
de10/91
since when does company equal me behaving?
i've wanted to but never had the chance to do so
if you want a hint clue (not spelling out), just ask :)
I've bought the stamps and ink, then some clear embossing powder and a heat tool. Do I just stamp, sprinkle and then heat?
katie I have an embosser but have not used it yet
that's what i remember of it katie...looks so nice when its done
katie there is plenty of info on line re stamping
which reminds me..i want to try iris folding...
We forgot about the order of service so I'm having a go at doing my own, thanks peri I'll need to go soon and have a look
bbl to finish
I'll hafta go to breakfast pretty soon, so get your red hot clues now :D
Iris folding? My first thought was the eyeball. Ouch.
ouch... hmmm..hol don...
I was on flowers but still don't know what it means
Done it found the ten letters! and tis my first time on Babble thanks for chat
yay, ionie!
fireworks at last

come often, play and chat
brb, as usual, someone drank my coffee..
Congrats coolgirl! Is your daughter OK?
There is a lot of hospital visiting going on at the mo, hope everyone recovers quickly
Poor ionie's husband!
cu4,7 (the second one) anyone?
shes diabetic and picked up a virus shes been in a week hope shes coming out tomorrow fingers crossed
sorry for your hubby, ionie
oww, cool. that's rotten
Guten Tag, Farruska. Wie geht's? Ich bin Scrabbler.
a past tense of what you would play snooker/pool with
Hallo Scrabbler, mir geht's gut :D
2nd cu4/7: gave help to someone, e.g., an actor
shes in the best place cause diabetics deteroiate very quickly when there ill
tygerbryght that's cu46
yup, cool. I know about diabetics. my family's got a ton of 'em
nope, farru. there are 2 words on that root
change the last letter to get the 7 farru
PT, farru :)
tygerbryght ah!! got it , thanks :-)
yw :)
Better be off to try my stamping, bbl to let you know how I got on and get some more words
later, katie
about 15 more minutes before I go eat. clues?
well knock my head off I found the 10
tyger the cu6,24 derives from the cu4,6 right?
go, dan. I thought it was an easy one
it's built on those letters, but the meaning is unrelated :)
just got it tyger :-=
very good!
lol nice word that cu6 :-)))
I had trouble with it, but I agree. it's a neat word
tygerbryght it's spanish and very similar to the portuguese one :-) I miss the portuguese cu6 :D
yes, I know it's spanish, and I studied that language, but I still had trouble finding the word :P
you simply never know when a given foreign language word will or won't be in a grid
there are several spanish number words that appear in grids, but not all of 1 - 10. bizarre
only 11 words left....first pass through the grid is complete.
sounds like you had about the same kind of trip thru as I did, ange
it's pretty simple, today.
any clue for the de10 ?
I thought so, too, but not everybody agrees with us
what does a guillotine do, farru?
don't lose your head over it, Farruska!
oh it's the queen in alice clue :D ok, got it :-)
:D
and save those last 8 letters - you'll find something to do with them ;)
tygerbryght yup, already did :D
very good!
have you got the other 8?
yup, both 8s :)
off to take some photos, bbl :-) thanks everyone
there is a big block of words there based on the Latin for "head"
later, farru
gotta go pretty soon. clues, anyone?
clue for sa 6/21 please
sa6/21: combine a nickname for the strong man of the Bible with the short word for permit or allow
I struggled long and hard to find that one
great clue, tyger.. tyvm
nice clue tyger
thx, carlee :)
yw, AM :) & thx

Ok heading out for exersise and shopping.....fun fun.
sleep well, anne
bye, Anne... see you next time... bye to rth too
later, turtle
bye Anne
any last clues, peeps? gotta go eat
hi Aloy, my chat is going in fits and starts
your icon is beautiful too, pab. I also love horses ... just not as well as tigers. OTOH, you can be friends with a horse :D
bit too early for me, tyger.. but tx..
yes unfortunately you can only enjoy tigers from a distance
they are my favorite big cat
it's now past 8AM my time, and I've got pills to take :P I'll try to come back to clue some more
they're too beautiful for their own good. :(
later, all
ttfn, tyger..
bye tyger
Hi everyone any clues for at7/40 please
see tyger's clue at 8:07, Norma
I hated to finish this grid...fireworks....
yay for Angelsong... I agree, a great grid!
thanks aloyisius would never have got that one. What does it mean lol
could i have a clue for me7 pls?
<POMOM TOSS> for angel
a tree in the Phillipines... tyger looked it up
me7.. plural of the 6 the sheep in the me6 the cow in the corn
congrats Angelsong
super clue, carlee.. ty!
(o:
ty carlee
fireworks
<POMOM TOSS> for merk..woot woot
hurray, Merk!!!!
Well done, Merk! Good morning all, and thank you for the ME7, kattie!
Sunny Sunday to you, Scarlet!
Hey Red! How are you today?
mornign red...
And to you, Aloy! How's your weather, kat?
Hi there, Uni! Well, thank you, and thee?
Lori and I are battling colds, but otherwise in good spirits!
its..grey.. everything grey... trees...sky...ground... grey and taupe... the doldrums of late winter
The only thing better than fireworks is fireworks when Carlee is here. Ty
I can identify Kattie...although we have quite a bit of white blowing around right now as well
how about there red..any signs of spring yet?
back
hi Scarlet
ready to clue for about another 20-30 mins - then must go
Well, Tyger you are a cluing machine, huh?
Time to get ready for church. See you tomorrow.
I enjoy helping people anyway, and Babblers tend to be very grateful for the help :D
later merk... enjoy the day
and sometimes I need help, too
<poof>
bye, Merk..
In a strange way, I like this grid...up to 94 without list so far and going *strong*
I found it an easy grid. but how any one person finds any given grid varies wildly
am enjoying it too, Uni..
I got all but 7 before I had to go to word lists
Yesterdays grid had me quite defeated...this feels better
yesterday's stunk
I've had 3 good days in a row. but that can't last :sigh:
How many words today?
219
Thanks.
the last two days were killer for me, but the two before that were nice!
with 4 7s, 2 8s, 1 10
yw
the 10 is really quite easy
do you use Lickety's page, godthaab?
Only when I run out of steam.
or maybe I should ask if you even know about it? :)
reluctantly, must go do some mundane things.. nice to be able to wake my brain cells up with Babble and chat with y'all... have a great day, Happy Babbling and will see you next time! (-:
oh, I see. you're the stiff upper lip type :)
Enjoy, Aloy!
have a good day, AM
bye Aloy
Oh yes!
later aloy
I go straight to Lickety when I start the grid :)
I usually jump in and type like a madman.
If there weren't so many non-words in grids, I might feel differently. Not to mention the real words that aren't on the Enable list
but someone ... I've forgotten who now, encouraged me to start a thread on Angelsong's message board about real words in grids, but not on the Enable list. I mostly remember to put them up
That is a good idea Tyger...I often commiserate a word not being accepted. Personal favorite: hoser!
please feel free to add words to it, if you find one I didn't
and thx
I am finally back--I lost my internet connection!
WB, scrabs
The dictionary that this game uses drives me up the wall. I come across some many words that are common, but the dictionary is not only inconsistent, but lacking in detail. I see a word in the grid now that is not accepted.
you're not on dialup, surely, scrabs?
hi Scrabbler
G'd morning Babblers! Slipping the Ritalin in to Uni's hashbrowns breakfast this morn, certainly settled her down.
which one, godth?
hey, lori
hi Lori
That was a low blow...But good morning to you to, *mother*.
**to you too
Nope--my cable modem misbehaved. I shut down everything, reconnected cords/cables, powered back up, and finally returned. I was in panic mo4! I hate being shut out of the web!
G'd morning tyger, pab, uni.
oh, me too! I freak when the DSL goes down
Scrabbler, that is horrifying, isn't it.
Sounds like a power cycle to me, Scrabs! The internet likes to tease us by going away sometimes..
Deux. Other French words seem to accepted at times, though.
most of the time, my DSL is more reliable than the voice phone service!
I nearly *GASP* started crying!
deux is one of the 2 I saw, and put up on the message board
I am over halfway without the list so far...wahoo!
Where is your message board?
it's weird. random Spanish & French words are accepted, but it seems *truly* random which ones are in, and which ones aren't
go, uni!
Go Uniquity GO!!
***The only place she's going, is insane...*** :-)
Some Greek words are accepted: others not. I think it accepts "etas", but not "nike"
I have never understood the rule on what foreign words are allowed...lots of numbers are, but many others aren't
not mine; Angelsong's. - the link's at the bottom of this page - but my thread is on the "How to" page
Is it inherited, Lori?
LOL, scrabs
*Sorry, I had to say that in defense of Uniquity.**
Prob'ally Scrabbler. ***shuffles feet, and changes the subject***
Foot-shuffling is a common side effect of psychotropic meds, Lori. Did your psychiatrist tell you about that?
I am really being unfairly attacked here, I think...Someone is just bitter because she is not the pretty one....
now, now, uni
morning all
we resemble our relatives ... sometimes more than we realize :D
hey, feather!
Hi Featherbee
I don't listen to my shrink much. He keeps saying something about issues.
She's mad cuz I am leaving today. Trying to break my will so I stay forever
LOL
hi feather
make that, ROFL
Not issues Lori, DISHES. As in washing...
G'd morning Feather. ***shoots Uni a dirty look, and ignores comment***
Due to time-release genes, my younger sisters point out that I am slowly turning into my mother.
LOL, Lori. Life is full of "issues".
you're mistaken, uni. she doesn't really want you to stay forever\
ok..all prepared for the sunday morning coffee clutch
Yeah, Carlee!
hi all
lol, had to scroll back to catch up on the chat
scrabs, we all do, but I'm only too glad to resemble my mother in any way I can
sounds like me and my mom
I'm okay with being like my mother! I am a fan :)
what is life without issues... BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I look like my father, and people have always expected me to act like him, too
same here--amazing lady
very true, carlee
(ooh uni into suck up mode now ...<giggle> )
the deadly insult i can give my mother, when she's being evil is "you're turning into your mother"
I checked Angelsong, but I don't seem to be able to fine "How to.."
I look like my dad, even in the hirsutism department, but my behaviors are becoming like my mom's, so I fear what I might be like in my 70's.
"you've got more issues than a magazine rack" - my wife was told by her pastor at one point :-)
hey, ata! didn't see you around
*deadliest
i wouldn't dare say that to my mom, she'd actually be extremely hurt! she and her mom did not ever have a good relationship.
I just turned up. No-one say hi. You all hate me.
Haha, Dan. I will have to remember that one.
shucks, ata found out the secret
My Grandmother rocks too...I am lucky that way. Apparently I look just like my dad's mum
that;s why I save it for times of extreme need, feather!
;)
Hi Atalante
ATA!!!! **thros self ongingly at the smug ones feet**
I was in such a hurry to throw myself that I forgot letters...
hello Atalante
thats better :) and what have you been right about today, Uni?
( I just returned too ata... was not sure if u'd been here..adn I just joined back in..sorry hun)
hee, fun chat this morning
Hm, I guess my eggs will cook better in the boiling water if I actually place them into the boiling water.
hello everyone!
LOL scrabs! yeah, it does help a little
hey, annie
u missed the poo earlier feather...flask and...
Well, if I were to make a list of all the rightness, we could be here a while. We'll just sum it up with "everything:
lil
that's just the way it works, scrabs :D
hi Annie
hi tyger
well, i finally got the kitchen organized, so i can go make doug's birthday cake with daniel and we can trash the kitchen again. it's a deadly never-ending cycle, the cleaning.
Scrabs, I forgot to turn on the burner for my eggs for over an hour the other day..I would look at them and wonder why they weren't going anywhere but never clued in!
good girl
and pabtrek
Hi Annie. And happy birthday to Doug. Featherbee, you must accept the eternal cycle of clean-mess-clean.
feather, "lather, rinse, repeat" and variants thereon, are the essence of women's existence :sigh:
Good morning/afternoon all.
joins the B-day wish list
hey, haz :-)
hey, haz
Well said, Tyger.
hi scrabbs and Hazel
hi hiaz
Happy mother's day Hazel
Welcome Hazel!
happy birthday to doug!!
Hazel--we needed you earlier--some naughty childish behavior was going on here.
Hello there! TIme for nice babble.
ooops
Hi Haz

Thank you carlee - my daughter's card to me read 'thank you for always being right and for giving me the time to discover it for myself.'
is it true for Commonwealth countries too??
She's learning.....
it takes time, haz
Oh thank heavens.. Wait a minute...Haz can't always be right unless she agrees with me!
nope... ours in in may
go, dan!
but if you love your mother so much,Uni, you should celebrate all mothers day all round the world
I thought it was fair away
Scrabbler - there was naughty behaviour earlier? I must check back and see what I missed.
that's what I thought, carlee - very few holidays are *that* different between the U.S. & Canada
**far. My heavens I can't type.
one to go...at7...any clues?
haz, there was very naughty behavior about 2 hours ago
yeap haz...check about 6:30 7 am babble time I think

probably, Annie--she's very sweet and gets along with my other dogs--it's just a challenge to walk THREE dogs! LOL
during med school, they get used to eating after anatomy lab, I'm sure :D
:-D
sm6? I keep typing smattle and it keeps not working...
walking 3 dogs is hard work!
hey atalante!
sm6: not large, but sm**l + not away, but **
any clues for the ts?
sm6 is apparently the name of the pieces used to make mosaics or stained glass windows
ty again tyg
ts + lemon*** drink
ts5 appears farily regularly ts + lemon***
tks dan
yw, dan
and tyger
ts 5 is a hebrew letter
how about either oc6?
that's right; I forgot
woo hoo firewords! thanks tyg, une and all cluers
1st oc6 is plural of preceding oc5/14
yay for dan!
2nd oc6 is plural of ocean critter with many arms
oc6 - plural 8-legged sea creature
yay, dan
i don't have that oc5!
snap tyg
oc5/14 is latin(?) for group of 8
:) dan
tks tyger i had worked it out... fireworks@
any help with the pi6,21 or pi5,12
pi6 21 is plural of pi5, a sculpture by michelangelo
pi6/21 plural of pi5/12 - think sculpture of Mary with dead Christ (and others)
very easter
that's the 1st pi5/12
thanks tyger!!!
yw, hill (just looked back & saw)
and hillary
yw, lori
it's usually helpful to see variants on the same clue. we don't all think alike :)
This is very true tyger...
WRT the pi6, some people think of the artist; others think of the statue
I know it usually helps me to see different clues. I always appreciate any help I can get!!! LOL
and we're all trying to give the clues as quickly as we can, so we don't put everything in :)
sometimes i think i must be thick because the clues are so cryptic...
fortunately, I don't usually need help beyond the word lists, but sometimes I need multiple clues, and I feel so thick when that happens
I am not good at giving clues yet. I'm afraid I'll goof up and give to much info. or not enough
hill - we usually do try to keep the clues from being too overt, if we can (of course you know that) :) and only give the spell out ones when someone really needs them
You are very lucky tyger. Hopefully I will get there someday.
lori, nobody's perfect at clues, although some people are really good at it - jacula is one
yes i realise that but some references are pretty oblique... or culturally specific... or refer to some 'insider' babble code
but some are soooo clever and straightforward... it's a special skill
I often don't get the "insider" clues myself
I try to think when a clue will be U.S. culture-specific, as I know we have people from all over
I will stick to receiving the clues for awhile...Maybe someday I can give back some. thank you all!!
i like the challenge of clueing... but sometimes i think it's too hard to even begin to bother.
sometimes it is really hard, but nobody asks for help unless they need it (except newbies sometimes)
don't push yourself, lori. there is usually somebody :)
I always wait till I am driving myself crazy to ask for help. I like to challenge myself with getting the words on my own.
but I'm about to bail out. I didn't get much rest last nite, so I'm going back to bed in just a few. Last call! :)
well time to turn in... after midnight here. good night all.
nite, hill
good night hill & tyg
lori, most of us are like that. I think that's what makes a true Babbler :D
sweet dreams hillary...
bye hillary
dan, will you be able to stick around and clue?
for a few minutes - errands are calling
I don't like to leave people with nobody to clue
We'll muddle through.
we always do
I'd forgotten you were here, haz :)
all right. later, all
I also have to leave for awhile. Today is my neices 14th birthday and we are having her party soon. see everyone later..
tc tyg
Bye tyger - and lori ann.
bye lori
bye tyger and lori
hiya pab
hi Lady
ooh ty for the pi5/6...when i finally saw it last summer..i cried..and i dont have a relious bone in my body
oh my... I just found the 10
its a good one isnt it lady?
Wasn't it the one that had been badly damaged and beautifully restored, rolin?
indeed it is!
could someone help me with the 3 ce words ???
ce5 - ce plus the first letters of what twinkles in the sky
omg...i didnt realise it had been attacked... *shudder*... how awful... such a beautiful creation to be so close to being lost
ce5/12 - second one changes the vowel at the end
ce6/12 - inserts another vowel before the last one.
Thnx Haz have all three now
rolin, if I remember rightly it happened maybe 30 years ago. It was attacked with a hammer and had to be repaired.
TY Haz, got all 3
yes, ty haz
Good, you're welcome.
*eveyone please notice how nicely monkey is behaving*
People had also kissed Christ's toe so much that it was worn to a nub. It was the only part that they could reach.
yes...i just read about it in wiki... no wonder it is under such security now... i had forgotten it was in the basillica...and as i turned it was just there...and literally took my breath away
*pats monkey on the head*
That must have been wonderful, rolin. Pictures can never do justice to such a beautiful creation.
*smiling nicely, sitting demurely*
no... and its so small to what i had imagined.. we went to a wonderful exhibition last sunday...from russia... just stunning
Where was the exhibition?
at the royal acamedy on piccadilly..
What sort of art was on show?
20th century mainly... some lovely impressionist stuff..(my fav)... but matisse 'the dance' was there and a stunning picasso...but the stuff that intrigued me was called 'fcubo-futurism'...
You're going to have to explain that one!
Hi all again.....lil*...are you still here....chucking pooh about!!!!

Bye Lady.
I bet she's tied to the chair!!!!
i was scolded and i was not given any muffins
bye lady
oooh roast pork... we had a steak lunch...quite unusual for us
Well, before I'm accused of anything, I said nothing.

that sounds nice rolin
i think it was carlee
and cheeky
it was lilli.. mashed tatties and fried onions and mushies...and mange tout
Bet it wasn't....[hee-hee]
and i wanna make the word tapioca and i cant...
well at any rate, i am BEHAVING now, so don't anyone try to get me riled up
i got one as i didn't start the poo flinging!
Now Haz, as if we would accuse you of anything!!!
is mushies, mushy peas rolin?
sigh. i'm at 98 and pondering whether to bother with monkeying the rest
mushrooms?
nope..mushrooms...dont like mushie peas
lots of strange words today
woceht, you should never doubt the importance of monkeying
lil*...you know you really want to play....come on......lol
neither do i rolin but mu bairn and hubby love them
whats the value of the 'w' thats not sad things?
whats the value of the 'w' thats not sad things?
oops
Spoken from a true monkey.....lol
oh my goodness, i'm watching a show on the TV, Kathleen Turner is being interviewed. She is unrecognizable
hi woeht. is your icon a fish?
The same as the other, rolin.
its 8 points rolin
in what way mmonkey?
she's a giant blimp
the last time i saw her lil, she had put alot of weight on and looked quite old
lol....i had that one and not the sad things...ooooh....*slaps head with a fish*
she has rheumatoid arthritis..think the meds made her gain all that weight
thats a shame annie, and rheumatoid arthritis isn't nice....hi annie
Afternoon everyone.
Hello Annie - nice to see you.
Hazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
hi liz

Hi Hazel and liz and lill
Good afternoon, lizmac.
Thank you so much for the card from you Becky and Fiona

Ooops, my icon is still on Leap Year, off to change it.
Liz!!!
You're very welcome - we'll be rooting for you!
Just a quick ten that is lol

liliann: yes it's a fish
It's getting closer, isn't it? Are you petrified or excited?
its beautiful woceht

Didn't you hear about it Flask? I'm off trekking in the desert
{{{TO}}} Got your e-mail. Sorry I haven't responded. Goo morning, all.
Sorry Annie - Dogs for the Disabled
*Good
Is it for pleasure or charity?
Both Flask.... I think!
po and nearly what you boil water in to make a cuppa flask
Ciocia, Please accept my condolences for the loss of your Dad.
po6 - same structure as glass containers for drink
Oh Judy I am sorry *hug*
thx annie and liz
hi ciocia
nice to see you all this morning! cj, s'ok. there is alot for you to take care of right now.
Very good....I wish you well......
hi lilliann
ty :)
thanks lill...and haz
I really appreciated the email TO. I'm still in a fog.
That should be better, if in doubt brag about forthcoming holiday !!
..........and refresh!!
and how is annie feeling today?
good luck with it liz, and i hope you have fun
The Cee is in the wrong box...can I exchange the P and C?
ty :)
No, I refuse to refresh if holidays are going to be talked about, liz. If Stranraer is so good, how come you keep leaving it?
I have to go - Haz, once again thank you for the card it was a lovely surprise :)
Owly, the colors are fading but I still look like a faded rainbow.
You're very welcome - and best wishes.
*hugs*
Stranraer or Athens...tough call, only decided by climactic conditions, Haz.
bbl actually cooking today! *watches everyone run from the chat box*
i so envy all of you across the pond for your easy access to places i find so exotic!
I'd find it a tough decision as well.
im off to florence in 2 weeks
Mother's Day in the UK? Happy Mothers Day to my friends across the pond!!!!
I only leave Stranraer in order that it's beauty may astound me afresh.
Okay, if bragging is going to be done, I'll tell you where I'm going in May for a few days.
lovely rolin....have you been before?
rolin - I want to go to Florence as well!
do tell haz
Ah, now I understand, Liz.
ni lilli...and i cant wait
where, Haz
TO, Stranraer IS pretty exotic, I agree LOL
ty annie
I'm going to Krakow in Poland - very historical and apparently very beautiful.
are yo making fun of my awful memory for geography??? *fake huff*
hope you have a lovely time.
My mother in law was from Karakow
i don't think class covered stranraer
But it'll be COLD, Haz!
*Krakow
It's not until May, though. It's for my 50th birthday.
oooh lovely.. the furthest ive got into europe is prague... will you go to auchwitz?
I went on safari for husband's 50th, he's to visit museums and things for mine.
Yes, rolin, it's on the agenda.
i've always wanted to go to krakow and see aushwitz
Mind and pack your thermal knickers, Haz. I'm off at the beginning of April.
i want to do that...its just something i think should be done...i have wanted to ever since i saw that program from the 80's 'ascent of man'
Apparently Auschwitz is an experience that you feeling glad you did it but profoundly disturbed by.
It's something I've always wanted to do as well, rolin, so this is a great opportunity for me. I don't expect to 'enjoy' it, but I feel it needs to be done.
i have read so many books about the holocaust and am very into the 2nd world war.
yup...my feelings exactly..so whta date is your b/day?
Thank you for spelling it correctly, lizmac
My birthday is 1 May and we go on 5th until 9th.
If you are interested in the holecaust, check out the documentary called "Paperclips", a truly moving event in a samll Tennessee town
ah..ok..my daughter's is the 5th... she has a bank holiday for it this hyear...very considerate
I won't be here in May Haz, so I will wish you a very happy birthday now!
Hello inge.
Thansks, ex-Wren, I'm hoping you mean you'll be on holiday rather than anything more sinister!
hi inge.....i'll try and find out about that one and thanks
Just passing through and saw the referene to holecaust. Did you see Bergen Belsen as well. They say that is where Anna Frank perished.
afternoon again, back for a rest, 25 order of services done only 80 more to go!!
i must be blind... cannot locate the ed words
e plus the sort of 'tube' through which tears for example may drain
You're on a roll, katie. Is the embossing going okay?
afternoon all back for a rest 25 down 82 to go!
TY again haz!
inge...i just looked that paperclips project up...its fascinatig
I'll be 'down-under'. We will leave on April 19th to Canberra for a week, staying with an exWren friend of mine, then Sydney, wisiting Bill's Grand daughter, then Brisbane to stay with my youngest son, then Bangkok, visiting a friend. Home on 6th June, two days before my birthday!
i've never been to any of the camps inge but would like to one day. i have read about anne franks and lots of other books by other people that went through it.
hello exwren.. have not seen you f nor you, rolin.or a while it seems.
*visiting
hi all how's the puzzle today?
inge, I know that Auschwitz is preserved, I haven't really investigated other camps and whether they can be visited. It just happens that we'll be staying in Krakow, so it is easy to get to Auschwitz.
not too bad jms, have 10 left and just going to the list now
ex-Wren, that sounds great! I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time. This is the first chance to see your son for a while, isn't it?
Buchenwald near Weimar is also preserved and verrrry informative and complete.
sorry didn't mean to post twice, it's going really well thanks Haz, would probably have been cheaper to get some made, but it's more fun and personal this way :-)
Thanks for the info, inge.
I do speak to him via the web-cam
Got to leavea for Orchestra Hall, Schubert's 9th today. *poof*
That's good, katie. You're still remembering to breathe and smile?
Bye, inge.
the most heart stopping moment for me was whne i was going ound the anne frank museum and i walked up to a display cabinet to see the yellow cloth star...just seeing it 'for real'..was very emotional for me
there is also a town in france, calledoradour sur glane which is about an hour away from my parents that i would like to go and see. the germans killed all the towns people apart from a boy who escaped.
I remember when you first told us he was going, ex-Wren - it was a big wrench for you.
Lol Haz, getting better at that, we keep remembering why we are doing it. Went to Church this morning and it was lovely so we are holding on to the more important things
That's good, katie.
I think some brides lose their sense of perspective.
brides?
I did a couple of weeks ago but I am so lucky with my family and girls in the support network so got back on track quickly
Katie is getting married.
Sobbing because the bridesmaids weren't interested, now realise that others have more important things in their lives
especially chav ones with big dresses
congrats katie
thanks rolin :-)
Oh, katie. Feeling better now?
I have been to the Anne Frank's House. I have also been to the 'death' railway in Thailand, and visited one of the enormous cemetery's at Kanchanaburee. There is a mock-up of one of the prison camps - I was overcome with disgust when I saw a coach load of Japanese people visiting it
congratulations, katie, when is the big day?
hi ata
You've done some travelling in your time, ex-Wren.
9 weeks Annie, much better thanks Haz, it was me as much as them so decided to chill out a little.
That is why I am poor now!
but ex-wren..that would be like saying present day germans shouldnt visit auchwitz..surely its important for generations to know what their history is to prevent it
Keep doing the Lotto
It's better to have travelled and got the memories than to sit on your money and regret later not having taken the opportunity.
I agree rolin. many years ago I went on a trip tending war graves. The German Teenagers on the trip were probably more respectful than the rest if anything
absolutely haz...thats how i justify squirreling away my holiday money every month
It was just the way they were going around, laughing and chatting, I wanted to see remorse
hmm... well often ppl make light of things that are difficult to face up to..
We have a choice of paying off the house early or going on lovely holidays........maldives for christmas then!!
My Father is in a War Graves cemetery in Narvik. He died on my 7th birthday. I have visited him there. More travelling!
Wren, very sad...
i so agree, haz. i am waiting but it hinnnk, "what if i cannot walk or have enough healthy to go later?"
The British graves are so well tended so we looked after the Russian ones (this was 22 years ago) it was great to give something back
im yet to go to ypres and places like that
that's very sad wren, but thanks to people like your dad we all have the life we have now and the younger generations should be grateful
I know, TO. Obviously it has to be a case of being able to afford to go, but if the money is there, I say use it and enjoy.
Lill well put that's what I meant about giving something back
its called skiing...
Spending the Kids' Inheritance..lol
My dentist was telling me about a patient who put off travelling, now CAN'T do it because of illness and difficulty with insurance.
yeti
its not there TO
TO, it doesn't work in that window either
LOl ty!
hi back
I have a deal with Mari, she gave me a great upbringing & education and in return gets to spend all the inheritance whilst they are well and can travel
wb farruska
That sounds good, katie.
perfect arrangement..
hi farruska
I went to the dom rep a few years ago and the couple next to us at dinner were 82 & 83 repectively and I remember thinking "I hope I'm doing this at their age"
de6,21 anyone? I have de4,6 alredy
de6/21 - remove a flavouring?
half way, list time :-)
hm will search :D
whats the dom rep like kaitie
*katie
weirdness ( i kow it's not a word but it's my word ) has anyone seen a picture of a silky bird?
at7/40 pls?
I really liked it rolin but would recommend 4* or above and read Debbies Caribbean Dreams website for reviews before you chose a hotel.
is it mainly resorty...?
hey & happy babbling everyone
at7/40 - three letters of consuming food in the past, Spanish today, but replacing the first consonant with another.
past tense of eat +type of wool(** hair0 and german for yes
Or, consumed food, and google Bill Lear widow
German for yes has a j, though.
as we well know
Hello nance.
hey haz
bless you Haz, I was just looking for the at7
From *Mikey*, Ata?
hi nance.
You're welcome, ex-Wren.
can't imagine LOL, ja?
i thought it was "da". no wonder i struggled to get the word! : /
ty all for the clue on the at7
Is that Russian for yes? Or some other language?
i miss mikey
at7: 1. a tropical tree of the Philippines that is a hybrid of the cherimoya and sweetsop. 2. the pinecone- or heart-shaped fruit of this tree, having a sweet, edible, white pulp
i beleive you are right, haz!
kinda gave that away TO!
how so, jean?
did y'all enjoy yesterday's grid? i didn't.
gave the whole ending of the word
i gave up on it nance
:-)
me, too & hey katie
sorry. i gave it to google.
do we give google clues anymore?
Yes, they're still given, TO. I think you'd deserve to get the word if you're prepared to read the blurb and work it out.
i like google clues :-)
really, it would never have occurred to me.
i think it's cool that y'all make your icons clues - well done y'all
Only on a Friday, though, nance.
that's ok - i think it's cool
morning all (just barely morning here, though)
i so want to make "optic" and "tomato" and "potato"
Good morning, Dorens.
Hi dorens
Potato was nearly in yesterday's grid as well.
morning dorens
i was seeing potato constantly.... thought it was cause I
m no south beach diet and can't eat them
ooh, how's that gong, doren?
i want optic
The South Beach diet would go down like a lead balloon in Ireland.
and "seduce"
this has become harder since crumble came for a cuddle & settled down. i hate only using one hand
going well, except I was taking prednisone for ten days and that tends to put on weight -- sort of counterproductive
i'll say! feeling better?
true haz.... it is hard (no white bread, white rice, white potatoes, etc).....unfortunately, altho the prednisone gave me great energy and sense of well-being, it didn't do what it was supposed to do
and "elastic"
elst
Is prednisolone a form of cortisone?
ahh dorens...funny these diets...drs put me on a low residue = only white breads, white rice (max of 10 grams of fiber a day) no fresh fruits or veggies. Sigh. I eat the diet of your typical 7 year old. And I can sure relate to the prednisone probs too. My sympathies.
yup... i've had an asthmatic/bronchitis thing that i get from time to time... and after 6 weeks of it, they thought the steroids might help. didn't though
That's a pity.
it is a bad season here. many are getting steroids for ear infections, bronchitis et all currently.
Anyway, time to go and do something el4/4. Have a good day all!
well, it really isn't a horribly life-altering condition... i see so many people who are worse off than I, so can't complain
bye Haz, enjoy your day
good bye, haz....see you soon.
Bye!
enjoy haz
bye haz
bye haz
be back later, bye
later, annie
later annie
and later, all - i reall6y have to go. doren. nice to see you, sorry you are feeling punky.
bye annie and TO
bye annie & owl
good morning all!

hi nance
Yes, I do like to protect people from the dangers of the medical world.
scrab is a wonderful and willing resource!
yes scrabs, amazingly enough - your guys had our number this year...
i am going for a physcial tomorrow. unfortunately, i forgot and ate over a pint of ice cream : (
The Sabres are fighting for a playoff position and will probably keep us tense til the very end.
Ice cream---better than psychotropic meds!
we were in that position last year...and the Habs failed to make it...
mmmbanana nut
Habs? Habaneros?
habitants Ata..."sigh"
all ice cream lovers---i know this sounds weird but go to Walgreens and buy BlueBerry Pie ice cream, its the best ever
I would choose something with the words triple chocolate fudge brownie delight in the name, Owl.
oh my, then you have tried hagen daz brownie?
Probably, Owl--during PMS or another emotional slump.
LOl my binge triggered solely by finding the banana flavor...
hi all babblers! happy sunday!
Hi pk!
that and friednly's fudge twirl are my downfall. otherwise i can always pass up ice cream.
hi pk et any others i may have missed..
Ice cream, pudding, mousse, brownies (or the batter)--my comfort foods!
mini chocolate covered donuts and double stuff oreos
Oreos in milk.
even better scrabs!
mine have changed...it's all starch generally. like spaghetti all'oilio
anything milky. When I think I'm craving chocolate, its always wanting milk actually
hi crpw and pk
hi lil
oh forgive, me, hi crpw and pk
hi all, you guys are really making me hungry
Do you have sun like we do today scrabs? Getting out to ski?

Hi does anyone have a clue for the co5/14 plz?

Hi Doren--I came just when you left. Sorry you are sick. Have you been on an erythromycin antibiotic along the way?
later katie
co + likely to do
tx scrabs
can't really complain...but it still hurts sometimes when I breathe. no, no antibiotics scrabs... have been diagnosed copd... this isn't really chronic, but after a cold, it sometimes happens
very strenuous. my bro's father in law skiied until age 70, but stopped when he had a bad fall while skiing alone.
Hi does anyone have a clue for the co5/14 plz?
COPD at your age? You aren't a smoker, are you?
doren - sis you ever smoke?
just clued by scrabs sandie !
maybe this is the third time it's happened in 5 years. not really altering my life, but a pain. No, former smoker though... (hangs head in shame)
On Friday we did 2 loops (5 miles to5) and, boy, was I depleted!
Get better quickly, Doren!
( i know, it doesn't fit in with the yoga, healthy eating and exercise, but I did smoke far longer than i should have)
*walks over to join doren in former smoker's corner*
walks over to join doren and TO in former smokers corner
thanks scrabs, if I knew how to, I would most definitely do so today!!! ({{welcome owl}}
you are lucky to have found it early, thhere are treatments more than beofre. that is the main reason i am having the physical.
Thanks - my chat froze for a while there but got the co words now.
have been diagnosed copd myself last year but, just like you, it's not chronic : i had been coughing for 5 months...
"joins TO and dorens in ex-smoker corner"
You are young, Luc!
what is COPD?
it's just that when it starts, you feel that tightness in the chest, and you know, ugh, it will be here for months. and all the inhalers and cough medicine don't seem to stop it)
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
ah -- thanks
scrabs, i've been afraid to ask... but how does it relate to emphysema?
young is a relative thing scrabs... but ty !!
emphysema is one of the copd's...
COPD includes chronic bronchitis (inflamed bronchi) and emphysema (damaged lung tissue)
Luc, how young are you?
hey, I passed halfway and didn't notice til now
same ase as lynxxx dorens...
age* even
oh, i guess that makes you younger than me
morning all. Thanks for the description of COPD
i am going now. {{{{doren}}}} feel better. i am 3.4 wayon this puppy, will return later. hi and bye autumn.
not really dorens - am i year older than you...
hi moon !!
hi moon
Any medical questions before I leave, autumn moon? Med School 101 will be concluding soon.
hi moon
by TO
oh. goody, i love finding people older than me. Bye owl! thanks scrabs1
bye TO

someone from my other chat group recently lost her father due to COPD related illness and I didn't know what it was.

I have a medical question, Scrabs!
hi feather

hi nrk, and lil
hi dorens
well scrabs, my daughter suffers from an extremely rare form of hepatitis - her own kidneys fabricate antibodies that attempt to destroy her liver - when she was diagnosed, she was the only one in Canada with that disease...
why do antibiotics in large doses cause you to sit on the loo for large portions of the day? what is it that they are doing to cause that?
Ata, antibiotics destroy all bacterias, the good with the bad...
but that should mean they also destroy bad tummy bacteria
yes but our intestines are rich with good bacterias doing their work - antibiotics wipes them out and u know the results...
Lamo Is SO A WORD!!!!
hmmm true. that was obvious *facepalm*
hi all. montreal, you can help replenish the good bacteria by eating yogurt with active cultures
hi doxy - very true !
and ata.
hi darth and doxy
so thats the reason for a post antibiotic session that you get yeast infections--right--?
yep
HEy lilliann
Whenever you are on antibiotics, supplement with anything with added acydophylus
yes, crpw
good advise moon
My friend is here--off to the trails!
enjoy scrabs !
have a good day scrabs

wtg lilliann
I was on 6 weeks of antibiotics, the first 2 weeks in hospital and each time they hooked up the bag to my IV they gave me acydophyllus capsules and a tub of yogurt.
I just found the 10!!!!
montreal13 right in front ot my nose :( thanks
off to give the bairn a bath, see you all tomorrow, and thanks. take care all.
bye
6 weeks ! that's a very long time to be on antibiotics !!!
yw farruska
okay. better start if I hope to finish before the race starts.....
jeepers, mrp has you beat on antibiotics
bye lilliann - take care !
(had what the doctor described as a "ziplok bag of toxic waste" in my belly after surgery)
ewwww! that sounds nasty
"toxic waste" - almost funny moon...
wow, that is bad moon,
my sis can bet everyone on antibio things. she's been on 3 types, constantly for the last 3 or 4 years
ouch...
That was 2 years ago and, really, the worst part of it all was the IV pump. The antibio's had to be refrigerated so it was pumping COLD right into me.
ouch again...
Ata - what for?
they are just part of her tablet schedules for everything's that wrong with her
Hi, all. I have been stealth Babbling and the EC7/36 word took longer to monkey than half the grid! :-)
hello there my dear friend from the south !
Good day to thee, dear Lucien!
Hi scarlet
Hi, Do! So sorry that you have been having a health battle! {{hug}}
hi scarlet. clue for the ec7?
HI, doxy. If it were to start with a U, it would be the most ideal paradise known.
thanks scarlet... it really isn't a big thing... i see people with much worse stuff going on... how are you?
thanks scarlet
hello hello :)
that ec7 is very similar to the more usual word ending with a C
You're welcome!
didn't know that was a word
bonjour sadie !
hi everyone; I'm starting the grid, though I know I won't have time to finish. How's everyone?
Exactly my attitude, Do... I have been in a funk lately, and shake myself out by listening with my heart to all the really challenging things that others endure!
hi sadie
hi asgreen
good green and you !
Neither did I, doxy, but I looked it up: abnormal organ displacement, either from a congential standpoint, or as the result of injury. (!!)
Hi, asgreen... enjoy the grid, but there are some oddball words that are fun to go nutzo over finding!
hi doxie and mont - having a nice weekend - spent a chi-chi (shi-shi?) day in the city with a friend for her bday...
hi Scarlet
oops, doxy
scarlet, you in a funk ?????
How are you doing asgreen!
doxie is ok too.
I have the ca8, what is the other one?
I'm good - how's your weekend Scar?
Alas, yes, Lucien... an extremely odd detachment from my quotidian activities... not a depression... more of a shadow of myself... No, I have not lost my mind... LOL
another CA8
thanks montreal
there's a 10? I don't think I've ever seen a 10 in a grid
This weekend was very, very good, asgreen... virtually no phonecalls!!!
de10
tough start to the grid - can hardly get any on the first row!
add a prefix to one of the CA8 for the 10
hope it goes away soon scarlet and you get back to your normal, lovebale self !
Awww... thank you, Luc. I think I sincerely need sunshine, gardening, birds singing and the end of cold!
just got back from distrction. . sorry scarlet... i asked how you were and then flitted away. sorry about your funk
oh, hey there Dorens
yes the sun does indeed play a role in the funk/no funk balance...
i think funks are good for us to appreciate the good times when the funks clear tho Hi AS. start with the a's instead.. it was an easy start that way
At least it's not a Grand Funk... hee-hee... old hippy refernce to rockers from long long ago...
I remember that group
Spring is coming. I got a big bunch of beautiful fresh pussy willows yesterday at costco
The funk/no-funk balance... Luc! You have named my odd dilemma... NOW I can dance again!!
yes. the Railroad..."hush scarlet, it gives away our age..."
shhhhhhh... I'll never tell!!
age? what age? (heh heh)
yay (scarlet)
I love the pussywillows, Do... and the jonquils have popped up with tightly closed heads this past week...
see... so much joy in your life, sc
Doxy... I thought you were too young to remember those old singers... LOL... nice to have company...
I still have too much snow on my yard for anything to pop through yet. and got more last night
yard ? what yard ? it's one huge snowbank...lol
I'm not as young as you think
Dratted snow, dox... we even had too much here in Asheville... old, schmold!@! It's only a number!!
well luc, you are a bit further north than most of us..
yes dorens just a tad north of you guys... i can almost reach the north pole with a good throw !
Has it been a record year, Luc? With snow measurements, by any chance?
it was a record from beginning of winter to january 1st - don't know about any records since...but we must be approaching...
hi, all!
hi there pam !
It has been a La Nina year, so that usually means strange weather across the northern hemisphere! Hi, pam!!

BRB, trying to potty train grand daughter.
Oh no, i'm so sorry!!! I saw him when I voted at primary and knew he wasn't doing well.
brb
Dorens, I think I may have shocked you with that news - I'm very sorry
at7?
yah, it was a shock... she just told me last week that she is bringing lentil soup, and i jwas just thinking about that
my mom called me earlier to let me know...

Mom, just read your profile. any time the nest seems just too empty... *grin* let me know! *sigh*
hi stid
hi stid!!!
Hi Stid !
okay Stid, I am letting you know. How many little Stids can you spare?
hi, everyone - how's it going in Babble land today?
both of them, Mom -- be warned though, they are teens!
Hi JBV
Hi JBV, all rosy
hey JBV -- just got here myself, but seems good so far
that is okay, I have been that route
Hi JBV, the grid is a bit slow going for me, but thats OK...
both boys though
hi jbv
Mom, just consider - the opposite of empty nest syndrome is when you have your 24-year-old still with you because he is still figuring out what he wants to do when he grows up...... love him to bits but the nest is not empty yet
yep. mine are boys also. I am the lone "ribbons and bows" person in the family
got the last do. geezz
I am also the only ribbons and bows here as well
or the 25 year old moves back in with baby in tow.
go farruska go!
yay farruska. those do's were strange indeed
oh, boy - you see? the grass is not always greener...
oh JBV, I am sure you do love him and will miss him once he is gone
wow doxy... that's a tough transition, I have heard.
oh Doxy, I hear about a lot of that. Our neighbor had the same thing happen to them
I'm ready for her to move out. I want my privacy bak
back
well, he is also my on-site technical consultant so I don't know what I would do with my computer if he were not here!
Wow,My Mom would have never let us move back in...I did stay with them for about 2 months once after beign overseas, we all went crazy.
I'm with you, red - after I moved out of my parents' house at 21 - I never spent a night there- even when I had a severe back problem, I managed on my own
special circumstances though. her hubby is in prison right now. soon to be released. he is a good worker, so can't wait for him to get out. long story.
I moved out at 15 LOL
but of course, things were very different back then (I'm going back a-ways) my monthly rent was $109 !!
wow, ata - 15 - that sounds like you have a story, too
the quiet is deafening. They can move back at any time. Kind of like the Walton's, we would add on if they wanted to come back.
I needed a place to live a couple times as a young adult when I lost my housing... but it never was really a safe place for me. I always moved out again as fast as I could.
Things change and people do have circumstances...My parentsdid come andhelp me at my house for about a week when I had my surgery on my hand....
phantom: ctetology
oh my, Stid. I am so sorlry
I am lucky to have apaying and in demandcareer.
Hi Babble.
not really lol. I was just ready to escape. I'd finished my A levels, spent some time bumming round the world then went to uni
I want to be that sort of Mother to my children, Mom. We have told them they are always welcome here, and don't have to rush their schooling because of needing to move out.
and Ata and Doxy, and all, a hug to all of you
good for you, Atalante, exploring the world some before college. I wish I had done the same.
it would be better if she helped more around the house. Right now, I am sole supporter of all of us. Only one working since hubby retired at end of December.
and you will be Stid, I can tell by the way you talk about them
I am welcome back at LoriPs any day, just as every child and grandchild is welcome back at my grandparents, if necessary. Our family has a wonderful support system, and I am lucky to have them
you ARE lucky, Uniquity -- what a joy to have family like that!
and I've always been a vastly independent little brat
Uni, that is one scary looking M and M...
No permanent solution by any means, but there is always a security blanket
I wish "oxude" was a word -- exude forcefully while causing the material to rust... LOL
She has the enable dictionary in her hand...tiara because i am a *princess*...butt kicking boots!
Stid, I think you should propose that to the world. Make words, not war!
I gotta get me an M&M
hear, hear, Uniquity! words RULE!
I need to put instructions on how to save it in my profile...I refused to sign up, so cheated
make wine.. not war
stiddy - I've never stopped getting out and seeing the world, I've never lived in 1 place more than about 3 years
I would love to know how to save it
mmmm. I like that idea, too, ruru!
I thought I read "whine" for a second
It would make the middle east a safer place
I don't want to go places anymore Atalante... I like museums and gardens, but traveling is so hard on me. I just hate it.
I love to travel. would love to do a lot more.
I much prefer my small, overcrowded and less-than-kempt home.
I've just never really done anything else. I can't imagine staying in one place
Okay. If you are computer illiterate, the instructions are going to sounds awfully complicated, but I swear they are not! Good luck, I have pasted a way to save without signing up
thanks uni
I've never travelled...someday I will be rich and I will do it, but that day is far away. I am a homebody anyway...
woo-hoo! found an 8!
found BOTH 8s!
yay stid
add on to one of the 8's for the 10
care to give the first two letters, Stid?
thanks doxy, figured it might be so *looking*
ca8 X2
I could use a clue for the at 8.. I couldn't find it last night
thanks Doxy
Yay Stiddy! I am far away from the Cs right now..
yw mom and stid
only two CA 8, no AT 8
ca8 - one is plural of ca7 - state ca7, other has to do with head
the first is the opposite of lower-case
oh doxy, I was so silly! trying to make the 10 a CA also! LOL (found it)
the ten is actually easier than the second 8...
I found that one first
ok I have to go and try to run again...
have a good day rered. see you lat
later
bye bye Red
Good luck Red, I hope it works out
there. down to 100. off to get something to eat and back later to finish. Hope you all have a good day! *poof*

Congrats !! TeaNcrackers......
take your earplugs and a good book :)..nah, guess that would seem rude
and it just wouldn't work, even though there is a word in the word lists that is a babblet here
:P sometimes you just can't make a grid do what you want it to do :D
tyger can you clue the ec 7 again in a different way
please
thanks

thx, krista
Hi Krista- yes, I am rested thanks..
that's right. I forgot that DR had that
I was stumped by the nowhere clue...
the famous word for nowhere starts with U, and was the title of a famous book
YEs, Darth is officially 14 now! HE did enjoy Disneyland and Wicked.. went to graumans Chinese and took pictures of stars inth esidewalk
48 left , need a break, bbs
that happens, ruru. it's happened to me more than once, and you are one of the people who have patiently given me a variety of clues
you could say the first part of ec7 is the ec******* "slime" in the "Ghostbusters
later, peri
c-ya Peri
oh cool! I just read about someone's star being stolen..can't remember whose tho
never thought of that, broll ... but I'm not a movie buff :)

My 9 yr old said " Hollywood is more interesting than I thought itwould be"
LOL!

darth is a nice kid, DR. you can be proud of him
HE wants to be a tv star.. Darth is a good kid. I am a very proud aunt!
( I mean th e9 yr old wants to be on tv)
you're entitled - whole family seems nice. I did understand you meant the 9YO - or would have been confused if you hadn't :D
capitalizing "he" clued me :)
:)
ty Tyger..
last oc 6/24 please
clues? I'm starting to feel some eyestrain and may have to take a break. I didn't really rest last nite
Did the Hollywood trip inspire this, or did he want this before? There are so many more kids on TV now...probably seems more achievable than when we were kids.
you're gonna want fish, ruru; coming up
uh oh
2nd oc6: multiple many-armed ocean dwellers
I did when I finally saw it :)
u could just use that word instead of a fish..close enough
the word snakes around
oh fish me........
He told me before that after hgih school is Hollywood.
thanks tyger
LOL ... I tol' ya :D
and you're entirely welcome
does the se6 build off of the se4 ???
LOL...at least he is being sensible and finishing high school
hi Monkey
hi Krista :)
HE also wants to be a humanitarian so I guess he knows he needs to learn english and math
no, monk; it does NOT. I tried to make it do so for I don't know how long; coming up
does the se 6 build on the se 4?
Hi Monkey
oops, confused
se6: very proper and well behaved
Sorry.. I meant the 9 yr old
need more?
yes not getting the clue...
well, DR, lotsa stars are humanitarians these days ... a good thing
thanks tyger! y'know, that is a good word to describe how monkey is behaving today :)
at 7 anyone?
no, I got it now thnx
se6: se + a fruit that grows on a palm tree
that's so sweet
at7: PT of consume food + 5th month (change vowel) + another vowel
i was acting up earlier this AM and carlee denied me a muffin (everyone else got one)
ty got it.\
krista, were you commenting on the se6 clue?
yw, mkg
I remember, monk. I came in on the tail end :P of it
hi mkg...no tyger, on the humanitarian goal
os 5 ? another fish?
it really was all flask's fault
well, I agree, either way :)
OH .. ty Krista.. yes, he is a sweet kid.. smart and non athletic.. extremely talkitive
os5 is a "bone" word - ends in 2 vowels
most people good with words are talkative, DR ;)
thanks
yw
I have to bone up on those words
LOL
down to 32 words to find, gonna go now bbl to finish
but not all talkative people are good with words :)
later, phan
see ya phand
very true, krista, but those are boring, alas
Hi, Krista, Hello all
hey, bubba
Hi Bubba
it's the Bubbinator!
it's Bubblicious!
I thought that this was a pretty easy grid ... mostly. there were several words that I thought would drive me crazy
Bubbalubbadingdong
or crazier
LOL ... ludaKrista
short trip for me, tyger, how about you?
depends on the day :D
**puts grills in**
sa6 was one of the ones that almost had me tearing out hair
I hear ya, tyger
whatcha cookin, krista?
BRB
just trying to look gangsta because Monkey called me LudaKrista (Luda Criss is rap singer)..grills are those obnoxious gold teeth
which I bet Bubba wears all the time
LOL! thas right homey, whas the shizzle?
oh. color me oblivious ... or ignorant :D
better to be ignorant of gangsta speak... it's so offensive to the real english language
Get down with the lingo...that's how we roll, tyger..ok, that's about the extent of my knowledge
thx, monk ... or at least I think so :)
lol
oh Krista don't even pretend you aren't down with the homies
LOL
Wow, am I THAT transparent? Sheesh. My niece keeps me semi up-to-date.
at least down here (one of the great things about the south), no matter how they look, most are polite. young man (I can't even imagine how his pants stay on; he must have a crease in his butt) held door at bank for me Friday
word up ludaKrista
or maybe he has hidden suspenders??
i'm a sucker for manners
me too, krista
of course, lotsa people are nice enough to hold doors for someone using a walker
i'm currently wading through the TE words.... *slosh, slosh*
and that's me
ROFL, monk
tyger, does your walker have some blingbling ???
nope, monk. it's pretty beat up, and was never pretty; very basic
I'd love one of those now with the built-in seat :yearn:
oh those rollators are the best... the rolls royce of walkers
that's a great idea..never saw those..sorry you have to use one, tyger
not pitying you, just empathizing..you understand
it's mostly to keep me from tripping over my feet, krista. my Rt leg useta be 1/2 inch longer than the L. but since artificial hip & knee, the L is 3/4 inch longer than the Rt, but my brain has never adjusted, so I stub my toe allatime :(
no, I didn't think you were pitying me. it's okay
my MIL gets plenty of inconsiderate people when she is in her scooter..but I think she brings some of that on herself by expecting the seas to part when they see her coming
the walker keeps me from falling when I stumble
hi all back for final 49. just got home from visiting the ronx botanical gardens orchid show. makes you really yearn for spring
I don't *expect* anyone to do anything. I wasn't raised that way
hey beth
My Doc wants me to use a cane for balance but I am fighting it.
I am back--tyger + lil*monkey, have you been here since this AM?
oh tyger , so sorry about that... can you put a lift in the shoe of the shorter leg ???
nope, scrabs. I only came back about an hour ago
I had to read that a few times to understand it, tyger..that WOULD take a lot of adjusting!
I have either lifts or built-up shoes for Rt foot, monk - and very expensive they are :(
Hey Beth and Scrabbs!
hello all, back to find my last 48 words
Hi Sc rabs
WB peri
and scrabs :)
Hi Krista + Beth + DR
WB Peri
My friend, in his 30's uses a cane for similar problem..one leg shorter than the other since achilles tendon surgery
hi krista & tyger and all others
done
And hi Periwinkle. I have 87 to go.
Yahoo rururocks!
thanks tyger for the help
WOOHOO Ruru!
handicap supply place charges $65 per shoe to build it up :(
no scrabs, i went to the gym, did laundry, made meatloaf, did my paperwork (from Friday's patient visits) and made up the bed!
yay, ruru
and yw :)
beth..did you ever find that mother vinegar poem?
hi friends
hey, ping
Ping! Long time, no see in Babble Land.
oh tyger that stinks! i'm sorry... wish i could be your PT (but i'm here in Virginia)
PING!!
ping, i luv that icon
thx for kind thoughts, monk
hi tyger, scrabbler, doc, and lil monkey
ty lil
nope krista, thanks for asking. i was thinking of writing in to a cou try cooking magazine i subscribe to to see if anyone there had ever heard of it
was just reading your bio, tyger..you've been "through the mill" as we say around here...hey Ping
hey everyone you should click on ping's icon... it dances
yup, I kinda have, but I had a *wonderful* childhood, and I think that gives a person a lot of strength. I surely needed it after my mom died
Like Taste of Home? That's a great idea.
icon is cute, ping
ty tyger
hi krista!
DO you get tired of people telling you how strong you are?? I know with the things I havegonethru peole always say that
thats the one krista , good old fashioned country cooking
Sometimes I get tired of being strong!
no, DR. I'm used to it. and yes, I do get tired of being strong sometimes, but a good cry usually fixes that :)
Just wanted to make sure it wasnt just me.. I am th esame way
that sounded confused. clarification: It doesn't bother me what people say, but I do get tired
I knew what you meant.. I am the same way
:)
Being strong is overrated sometimes!
people are mostly kind-hearted and mean well
and the bunch around here are especially nice
so true Krista
Stoicism can be unhealthy at times.
you're SO right, scrabs
and that's when a good cry is so helpful
my mother's stock response is "what choice did I have??" (but she did have a choice in her attitude..which got her through...and thats what people mean..though it can get annoying)
I found all of the long CA words by myself! **doing the Atalante Dance of Smugness**
Good for You, Scrabs
WOOHOO Scrabs !!
go, scrabs! very well done
You need more asterisks, Scrabbs. :)
Yes, but I still need 80 more words!
33 here :-)
What is the rule with asterisks anyway?
I can understand why your mom's stock answer would get annoying, but the attitude itself is what's important
so GO, both of you :D
*********I love asterisks*********
last was for krista ;)
about attitude, I mean
i knew what you meant :)
i have 180 to go - all relative!
I hit [return] too fast, and wind up with long stretches of comments :sigh:
hey peri!
go Ping go
ty doc!
but it's not a really hard grid, ping ... or at least I found it mostly easy
You just needed to pepper your smug dance with more asterisks, a la Ata: *****smug*****
clues, anyone?
166 here, Ping..trying to catch up on Scrabulous, Scramble, do grid, chat, and supervise kids playing outside... I CAN have it all!
so far, very easy - but that can end quickly in babble, as i recall
scrabs, have you got the 10 yet?
oc/5 before the sea creatures?
very true, ping :D
Latin for 8, DR
I'm back, sorry, but someone rang the door bell
group of 8, that is
religious folk, bubba?
ty tyger
Darn visitors, interrupting Babble. SIGH
No, that wouldn't have taken so long, a friend needed to boorrow soemthing
hi bubba
oops, I think I gave wrong; the 2nd oc5 is an adjective
Hi Ping!
well I needed both so its ok
Sorry, I am searching for gift basket deliveries. I want to show appreciation to the docs and nurses that took care of my nephew in the hospital this past week.
how's he doing, scrabs?
yes...how is he?
loved the great report on Mary this morning, but didn't think to ask about him
He came home Fri AM and is doing well on oral antibiotics,
great! so glad to hear it
HI there, Ping!!
just remembered a wordplay story from back in January. anybody else read Newsweek?
that's super
it was a story about Iraqis returning home. the wordplay was in a photo with the story. hospital reminded me of it
not regulary, tyger...Scrabbler...had to pass turn on Scrabulous...always forget what to do I am out of moves but have tiles still...
Iraqi govt is providing transportation home from Syria by bus. The English sign on the bus said "Happy Gurneys"
(regularly..geesh)...what was the wordplay
I read Newsweek, but the story is not coming to mind.
a *really* stinky almost pun
bet that's a pleasant ride...not
Journeys....gurneys. Aaaaahhhh
peri, have you noticed how few people are playing noggin lately?
yes, Ping
indeed, scrabs :P
depends on the time of day/night though too ping
you can see why it stuck in my mind
hi again - just made a giant pot of chicken soup to have during the week.... scrab I saw your post about gift baskets - have you ever tried Edible Fruit Arrangements? most people love them
hey, jbv
I love those baskets, JBV
we sent someone an edible arrangement last week
clues, anyone? I'm feeling some eyestrain, and will need to take a break soon
That is the best jbv. I did one for the nursing staff at the hospital after me week long stay after surgery
I am ok Tyger... 31 to go
I love fruit so they are a real treat
Yes, I have had Edible Arrangements. Any other ideas?--I am searching.
this grid IS mostly quite easy, but there are a few real stinkers in it. don't want to abandon y'all
at7 is a Philippine tree
Scrabs - I put in about 8 pounds of fruit
thanks, tyger - I only need 21 - and there's plenty of time, so take care
At Christmas, I always send the the differnet floors and the OR staff, lunch. Usually I have an Italian meal sent to the lounge for the diffferent shifts.
... all washed, hot chocolate mixes, trail mix, some healthy cookies, crackers
sa6 is a young ocean fish - one of the kinds often found in cans
booze, Scrabbs
okay, I'm gonna take a break. will try to come back later
*poof*
bye, Tyger
oh, and some pre-cut celery/carrots/broccoli and some salad dressing. tinned fish and meat.
krista!!!
autumn, that sounds like a wonderful gift basket
I don't drink so giving booze would be a joke
I'm sure that's a big hit, Bubba ...and well appreciated
It would be a funny, ironic joke.
The nurses put up with me for 2 weeks...and I was pretty grumpy after the first week.
mo6/24 please
help - the grid won't let me enter my last word. I've cross checked with lickety and have 219 words. Missing first cu4 from grid list, but when I type it in it just says I've already entered it. Any suggestions?
No, I suppose not a good idea, Scrabbler.
i'm' not grumpy with the nurses, even with the grumpy ones, i just get even with them
refresh chrissie
Mo6,24 the opp of being a braggart
Hiya Nut

congrats, peri!

WTG Peri
Hi Nut. **trying to not delay in recognition of our resident nut, lest I get chastised as Krista just did**
Congrats Peri!!
hmph
don't ever picture me relaxing in front of the grid..never happens...he's doing a Mars Mission/Star Wars combo at the moment, exploding, of course.
Well, anthem has been sung, boys are getting into their cars so I will be back later to get my last 21. Have a good afternoon everyone!
i guess the race is on then
Bye Autumn
Bye Autumn!

oh no..is today Mothering Sunday??
yvw katie
thanks for the wishes, sorry...just realized I forgot it again (our Mother's Day is in May, but always always forget to send husband's grandmother a card)
its mothers day here in Britain, I think mothering Sunday is later in the year.
what is the difference between the two?
Happy Mothers Day, mo
they are not the same thing?
great minds krista lol
of course, Beth :)
I think mothers day is a Brit thing and Mothering Sunday is an American celebration.
mother's day is in may in usa. second sunday i think
I'm confused because I never heard of Mothering Sunday until I married a Brit..either way, I forgot his gmother's card again. UGH.
But dont quote me on that not being a mother myself I am not up on these things.
s'okay, Mo...get frustrated with my bad memory lately...thought Babble was supposed to help with that ;)
Mothering Sunday is probable a Christian thing!!!!
ah, could be a church version of mother's day...
you could be right Krista.
just looked it up...just a different way to say it..it's today...prob an old fashioned way of saying mother's day
I went to church today and it was a fantastic service full of fun and laughter for mothering sunday
says it is uk thing, fourth sunday in lent
but still celebrated secularly...so, it's like ours but has a church origin...like I always say..Babble is sooo educational!!
Hey you know more than me bethn.
I will send her a card on our Mother's Day, which will have no meaning for her..it's m husband's gmother..don't see him worrying about it, do you? lol

are you in hospital, mrp?
If they don't let you out by Thursday, there's an elite band of babblers who will spring you from there. We have masks and we're not afraid to use them.
the second ce 5 has a different vowel ending than the first ce 5
Ausse is a rotten shot, though, so she's the look out.
Oh, mrp., I am sorry. What's going on?

I am down to 91, but still need that U before I can hit the list... *assumes beggar position*
And kristinc can make the old getting dinner excuse, but we all know the truth.
yes i do, change the last two letters to a cons and a vowel in the order
stidmama, if it began with a k in front, you would receive lots of praise for finding it.
stid, kud**
thanks Haz! and Aussieme!
change the last two letters of which - the other ca 8?
minus the k of course !!
I thought I had tried that... *sigh* guess I don't need the drink after all! LOL
stidmama, the vow(s) at a wedding, change the first vowel to the u
ah, I see you have it...
I am listing now...
You're welcome.
yes lauren
great clue, Joey!
thanks
The other ca8 - LONDON, PARIS, WASHINGTON. (and I'm not shouting, I'm illustrating)
Lauren, the de 10 means "to take off one's head" -- remove the first two letters for the second ca 8
okay, I'm back. We're making homemade refried beans for dinner and they are half done in the crock pot. I am so tempted just to dig in now to crunchy beans b/c they smell soo good.

Just get Aussieme to shoot the computer, she's trigger happy tonight.
co 5 - what you wear when it's chilly out, plus a con. before the last letter, then 6 is the plural

*Waves 'Hello' from depths of grid where she's busy hunting for her la4 27 words. *
ce5/12 - ce plus the first letters of the sky twinklers.

Hello Jacula!

**waves back to Jac**
i have my last 27 to get too...how funny
HI jill
Haz - Jilli's on board for the 'Cartlandisation Project'.
jilli !!!! How goes you ?
Hi, jilli.
No, run together the preceding cu4/6 and a British thank you (shortened)
ok, thks aussie -- only 119 to go, ugh
Oh, welcome aboard to the new image, Jillibus. It's..... interesting.
the first CE 5 is italian for "basket"

how is my cartlandization coming?
haz you mean the second 4/7??
thank, Haz, I think! I'll have to wait and see!
Dunno, carlee. Ata's in charge of the photoshopping.
hi jac
ED 5 please?
No. The cu6/24 is a continuation of cu4/6 - what actors respond to on stage.
how many victims does ata have?
ed5 - e plus a tube, such as one through which tears may drain
ty Haz -- great clue as usal
thanks Haz. I think I deserve shrimp for that one -- it's not completely fishy...
Well, jilli, there's Haz, myself, FM, Ata herself, Carlee and you (that I know of). Wonder if MrP would be up for it?
Just me so far, I think, jillibus.

And, Stid, Renfield, Nutty etc?
Have they all been done, Jacula? Where can I view the results? I want to see who makes the best Barbara.

Oh, wait, I see now....
I am not getting myself redone. Yuck. ick. Yick. *shudder*
Haz - Ata mailed me to say she's waiting until she's got a few to do so we can all star simultaneously.:D
Don't you fancy a pink hat and blusher to match, stid?
I enjoy crab, why jill? do I deserve some of that , too?
Fair enough, but I'll sulk if she makes people less hideous then me.
Haz - show Aussie your makeover.
rofl... I will see if there are any current pics worth doing then Haz.
first ca6?
Right, let's see if I can find it.
first CA 6 is the 7 less the final letter
stid -- hoping so -- maybe a fresh-caught feast here some day
You're a good sport, Stid.:-)
is the da 5 an extension of one othe other da words?
thanks, stid

Even Jacula thinks so.
AT 7: past tense eat + carlos **** (spanish tennis player)

Oh Haz !!!!! You made Barbera look young !!

i need clues for the do 5/14 and the do 5/20 please
*smile*
37 left here aand trying to work and babble at the same time
I reckon these gymnast girls are the very ones we need for springing mrpresident. All we need is a trampoline and an open window.
so.. my daughter is waiting patiently for me to join her in a gilmore girls episode...
do 5/14 is do + ***colm (in the middle)
I suppose you have to go then, carlee...
for 1 episode... then its tub time for her... back in 50mins or so...to clue
do 5/20 is the process of finding water with sticks, another word for "water witching"
later carlee!
stid i dont understand that clue
the first oen you gave me that is
the do 5/14 -- look up tv shows, MLF. I never watched it, but it was quite popular
trying to think of any man who is famous enough to have that name...
other than my great-great aunt's husband. LOL

okay, I need to download some pics from my cameras to see it there's anything that Atalante would like to deface. back later
Or, add a vowel to the do4/9
deface?? She'd be shocked at that description, stid.
Brace yourself, stid.
MLF, you could google "water witching" -- you might learn something!
got it ty
I think Reface might be more apt
Embellishment sounds so much grander than defacing.
You know, Haz, if I keep looking at that pic of you I'm going to start seeing you that way in my mind. I think I'd better put a pic of the fresh-faced you (the real you) on my desktop! LOL
That might be a plan!
I should put the real me on my icon.
Is Ata Cartlandising Spangle, too, or did you manage to save her?
oh Haz -- now you look naked!
Oh - she has escaped that fate.
I can't win!
Naked? You're not flashing are you, Haz?? *refreshes with eyes shut*
No, fully clothed! But time I was heading to bed, so I'll say goodnight and happy babbling. See you tomorrow!
Ah! There's the Haz we know and love.
'Night, Haz. See you tomorrow.
pleasant dreams, Haz and ta for the clues!
Haz, you're pretty !! Night Night Hun xx
Night all - and glad to help, Jillibus.
I'll just nip and get my blossom back.
Bye!
bye haz
Any clues for the at 7?
nice blossom, jac -- orange? apple?
Apple, I think.
If I'd used my own photos it would be apple, plum or pear.
what kind of apple, jac?
James Grieve is one and I've temporarily forgotten what the other one is.:(
Oh, I've got a Morello Cherry, too. Very rarely get to the cherries before the blackbirds do.
apparently there are hundreds of varieties growing on this island but none on my bit of hillside
apples, I'm talking about
java - at7 = 'consumed' + first 3 letters of singer Alison ***et's surname + vowel.
I guessed that, jilli.:)

You can get very small apple trees. Mine are.

The small trees are called Minarettes. You can see them on this site: http://www.kenmuir.co.uk/
Oh, well, if you get free ones...
People give them away too!
Jacula - sorry, I don't think I know that person

It's also an alternate spelling for a plains Indian home
is that a clue for the cu6 ?
java, I tried to work that into a clever sentence but gave up, lol
sa6/21 please
I'm off to get a mug of hot chocolate and then it's book and bed. Happy Babbling, all!
java gave a clue for the cu6

hi lindrick
is it a difficult one today? i haven't even started!
ohhh i must be confused....thought you finished this one
no this is my first visit today!
they're all difficult for me lind...:)
lol
my fav is de10, the event Dr. Guillotin initially supported
esp with these vowel movements...
funny, I thought you were here when I stopped by earlier today, lindrick...
no not me, must have been a ghost!!
oohh this one does look hard, only 5 are jumping out at me initially!
Hmmm. I think maybe there is another? I should check chat log...
I was going to chose the name Lindrick but it was already taken pam
hi all, may i have a clue for the sl 6,24?
a descriptive sl 5,10
not seeing it yet, thanks for the clue just i will work on it
sl 5,10 could be used for flooring or a roof
i have the sl 5, can't figure out how to make the sl 6 from it

hi Mom
Hi Just1Mar
oh, ty very much, couldn't figure that one out
you're welcome Angelina
did you find my ghost pam?
oh Mom i have just looked at your profile! I am going through empty nest syndrome too, are you getting through it?
Hi Lindrickway, I feel for you. How long has it been since yours left? I am doing okay with it, our youngest moved out just 4 weeks ago
so am I lind...
oh bum! my baby left in sept!!

yeah but he's happy and with a wonderful sweet gentle young woman so.....guess it's time.
Lindrickway, how old is your "baby"
he was 17.5 when he went off to Uni
he turned 18 in Jan
ouch, ours was 20
he is far away?
I am fine with him leaving as he is happy but i seem to have lost my purpose in life..... trying to find a new one
he is 90 mins away by car and yours?
he is 15 minutes by car. With college and work, we don't see much of him
I feel the same as you Lindrickway, struggling to find my way
I get to chat with my baby on msn most days so it's not too bad
it does help
he your only child?
is he*
it's odd isn't it! i prepared him for leaving and myself but didn't think about what life would be about then!
no I have 3, 2 girls and a boy
yes it is odd. I thought he would stay for another year, but no.
I have another son, he is 23 and also in college and he lives about 1/2 hour away
i was fine when my daughters left but then i didn't have an empty nest i guess!!
where do you live, Lindrickway?
when our oldest left it was tough but like you, I still have one at home
i'm orignally from the UK, live in Toronto now
yeah i never had a problem with them going, just don't know what my purpose is anymore, been a mum for so very long!
I love Canada, we have friends that live in Burlington Ontario
HI
oh not too far from here then, I am feeling a little down at the moment with all this snow!
hi herin
same here, for 23 of our 25 years of marriage, I have had children to dote on
Hi Herin
Hi Lind and Mom.
Come down here, Lindrickway, it will just be rain. I would imagine you are ready for spring
for 25 of my 26 years of marriage i had kids lol
Brb need a quick shower im feeling stinky

oh i think i detest rain even more! I am from the UK originally!!! I just love hot sunshine!
bye bye Herin

hi, mom
np pam
isn't it warm down there Mom?
Hi all!
anyone have a clue for the at7/40? please
hi muse
Hi Mymuse
hi lind
hi MOm!
unfortunately i haven't been babbling just chatting!!
at 7 40 Ingested + boxer *r. oscar de la h***
it gets warm, Lindrickway, but we are below normal right now
at + abbreviation for an "emotionally disturbed" kid + see ** later
oh ok, i just though most places south of the border were warm!!
in the summer we get into the 80, 90, and a few 100 degree temps
thanks Steph!
thanks Steph!
yw!
we live along the Ohio River so the standing joke is, if you don't like the weather at this moment, wait 10 minutes
oh i think that is similar here too, but down to -40 sometimes in the winter
thanks Danlia!
how about the al6??
thank goodness, we don't get that cold.
I think i might come down there after all mom!!
al6 I al6 clued you, but thought I'd wait
al6, fishy as in are you al6 finished doing the grid?
you are welcome anytime
we have had none stop snow all winter
thanks!
that's cold, lind--where are you?
Toronto
we have only had about 13 inches total of snow for the winter
cool, we have had over 4 feet in all i think they said on the weathernetwork the other day!
it has not been a terrible winter for us
approaching the most on record
that is a bunch of snow
That's a lot of snow! I LOVE winter...
the snow plow pushes it to the edge of the street and then the diggers come and put it in trucks and take it away
oh pam we have had 3 months of freezing and snow already and still have another month to go
wow, that is nice. They push ours to the side of the road and then you have to shovel it yourself to get into and out of the driveway
the piles they take away are over 3 foot high!!
and in front of the mailbox so we can get the mail delivered
Yep, Toronto gets more snow and cold than Boston!
gee whiz
no one can cross the street without climbing a mountain first!!
are you in Boston pam?
that is amazing, Lindrickway
no it's just horrid!!
lol
that too
but the long hot summers make up for it, i have just forgotten what they feel like!
I enjoy all the seasons here, but I don't like the ice or snow anymore
not since the boys got their driver's license :)
oh i hate driving in snow! none of my kids drive yet thankfully, that is another hurdle for me to jump later on!
and it is a hurdle, to be sure
Yes, I am in Boston, Lind.
how old are your daughters, Lindrickway?
oh cool isn't that where cheers is set?
25 & 22 mom
i have 3 grandaughters too mom they will turn 8, 6 & 4 in the summer
do they live nearby?
yeah 5 minutes by car
yes, Cheers was set in Boston
then you get to see the grandbabies often.
unfortunately pam my north american geography is very poor!!
yeah i see them every week mom
that is good.
I am sure it's just fine, lind...
how long have you lived in Toronto, Lindrickway
5 years in july mom
still a newbie then.
yeah but an old hand at the snow business!!
actually i am considering going back home at the moment mom
my knowledge of the weather in other places than here is not very good. Does the UK get a lot of snow?
for a visit or for good, Lindrickway?
occassionally they get a good helping but not very often
for good mom
would your children go back with you?
no, that is what is holding me back right now
that would be so hard
i am having health problems, empty nest syndrome and this has been a very long cold winter
a difficult decision for sure
i feel very unsettled
{{Hugs}}
lol

oohh do mine,do mine pretty please!!
I would imagine it would cost a pretty penny to fly from Australia to Kentucky
sorry Shirlockc, I don't have it
well if you pay for that mom then i will only have to pay from kentucky to toronto!!
ce 6 give 2nd ce5 ending that sounds like a plaything (diff letter though)
lol Lindrickway.
lol
Excuse me for interrupting, but it definitely does cost a pretty penny. Well, I flew from Chicago to Brisbane in January and it cost me $2300...
I don't think we would get Herin away from her boyfriend or her kitty
oh i am just working on this grid tonight i still only have 14!! too busy chatting
hey she could bring them with her mom!
thx ndanlia, could've sworn i tried that
Hi LadyFeline Yes indeed
no apologies needed, LadyFeline. Hello
oh i mean not working
My bf was a foreign exchange student for a semester and he's currently living back there again (very unfortunately)
Hello there :) I'm always babbling but I never talk. Lol... I do love to travel, though :)
so sorry to hear that LadyFeline.
I am not getting much done on the grid either
LadyFeline, so glad you spoke up
i love to be places but not too keen on the travelling part LadyFeline
Ah, Mom, that's alright. I'm thinking about being an exchange student next year when I'm a junior at uni. :)
Don't like flying, Lindrick?
just get bored having to sit still
Even when i was working i had run a clean house. It doesn't take long.Get home from work, put oven on for food, prep food, shower, laundry. Get dinner on get changed eat and so on
i travelled back to the UK twice last year and i just find it irritating that it takes so very long with having to be at the airport so early etc
where would you like to go to be an exchange student?
Yeah, it's a long time travel time across the Pacific! You always see people doing "plane walks," though... That's always something you can do on especially long flights.

yes, her "cremains" rest in a drawer beside my dad's in a huge building on Long Island, NY. No place for flowers or memories
OK but why did you say that?

How you feeling, Seain?
a good bit better, ankh :) one more day of antibiotics, still couging; went back to doc thursday
g'night doxy!
hooray for turd!!!
and how are you, ankh!
howdy, imprint, how goes?
hello all! ANKH!!!!! {{{{MANY HUGE_BIG HUGS}}}}
howdy, stid! :)
i seem to've frightened everyone ;)
seain, thanks for that recipe the other day (yesterday?) I am inspired to go back to my cookbooks and be a little more creative in the kitchen again.
and I'm back too :D
I also looked around your livejournal pages, and found we have several interests in common.
hey jilleroo! Did you get firewords?
what recipe, dc & stid?
the one for vegan sausages and potatoes. It sounds yummy, but must get sausages before I can try it. :-)
hi all. I'm awake far too early and bored!
yep, stid -- more easily that I expected
oh, a simple skillet dish i threw together yesterday, jilli.
hey atalante! I looked for a pic for you to deface, but haven't found one yet. I don't usually take pics of myself...
*always looking for stuff stid can eat*
real link sausages work fine, just don't add oil then.
morning, ata! *passes tea* Milk, sugar, and/or honey?
Jill -- remember I can eat most everything. Just the things I can't I really can't.... (sad face). And I am going to move toward being vegan at home, seain -- I feel a lot healthier when I am.
(((STIDDY!)))) Jilli! Hi, all! Glad to hear it, Seain.
bored, ata? Where's my Cartlandition? We had a big laugh earlier with jac's and Haz's :D
just milk please! TY!
I'm waiuting for FM to provide something to be made pretty!
1.5lb sausage things, 3-5 lb potatoes, 1.5 large onion, or 1 large onion and 1 bulb garlic, i used about 1.5C parsley, chopped, stid.
Just sugar, please, lots of it!
regular sugar or evaporated cane juice?
Regular processed bad-for-you sugar, please.
I'd like a little tea with my sugar, if you don't mind...
hi all! I'm off to bed in a few but I'm trying to find ec7 and I stare and stare and should probably just go to bed. Clue, please?
what kind of sausag4e things?
and a clue for AL6?
al6 -- nearly
hey fruittart! was it your website I referenced in my post a little bit ago?
Today.... we finally put away the last of the christmas wrap. I can see my living room floor again.
ec 7 is a perfect environment
ec + t5
ec7 is ec + perfect place ending
jilli, thanks, missed that completly, got it now
LOL ankh! sounds like my kind of housekeeping
You linked a hazelnut/chocolate cake, stid
yep! that was it. Still need to try it... *grin*
If my sweetpea hadn't done all the work, I would live in a hamster-nest of christmas paper all year long.
I haven't really been grocery shopping in about a month.
ec7 -- most of a tubal pregnancy but a vowel ending
i use MorningStar Farms veggie sausage links, but any link sausage works well jilli. lay sausages to cover bottom of skillet, sprinkle with onion, add water to almost cover, then layer thinly sliced potatoes/salt/pepper/onion-garlic (parsley) until pan full, ending with potato/salt/pepper. cover and cook over med until potatoes cooked. if using veggie sausage, add 1.5Coil to sausage at start.
Fruittart, you're looking lovely today (icon)
ty, tye. I can go to bed happy. still have 60 left . . . ;-)
hi, fruittart
good for you fruittart -- 60 isn't bad on a grid like this! *smile* see you again soon.
txs again, Jilli, tubal clue
Atalante, I grabbed the camera that was sitting next to me on the bed. You want grim, pleasant or smiling?
g'night fruittart, sleep well
ohhhh smiling muchly!
thanks ank. good night, all!
(and yes, I'm going to do myself too, don't worry!)
Smiling it is -- full size or ???
Niters!
g'night ankh, sweet dreams
whatever. I can work with it bwahahahaha
Thanks for the ec clue, Dan.
I think I'll crop it, either way. Don't want to show what a total mess my bedside table is
oh, ankh, we're beginning to organise a dc/baltimore babble meet-up :)
sweet dreams Ankh! see you again soon!
dc, I have a super-easy sausage recipe -- 1 cup raw white rice, 1 large can diced tomatoes, 3 stalks celery in 1 inch pieces. Bake at 350F for one and a half hours.
Thanks, Seain, but I'll be here a little bit, just saying niters to Tart.
oh, a very simple jambalaya. i used to be known for my jambalaya. sigh.
haven't made it in 16 years. been that long since i ate meat/seafood/fish.
oh, forgot the sausage topping! 12 of them on the top, lol
vegan/veggie cooking is very difficult for longtime carnivores
rather, such meal planning is diffucult
indeed it is, jilli. :) happily, there are tons of wonderful vegetarian sausages nowadays.
and some really good fake chicken stuff too, notably Quorn brand
I have some yummy tomato and mushroom sausages waiting for me for dinner tonight
which doesn't exist here, dc
those sound yummy too Atalante!
no vegan jambalaya seain? surely you can come up with something...
vegan jambalaya. probably could. veggie NP.
yum, ata
okay atalante, sent it from my home email because neither google nor yahoo are very cooperative today
I think I'd better shuddup about cooking, which I don't like, even the old style
woooot! :D
Quorn comes from England, been available in this country for about 6 years now.
anyone need clues?
which is a shame, because people should know you are a passable cook and a great host, Jill
ata is collecting pictures?
not liking to cook is not at all the same as not being able to cook.
Atalante is going to do me up like a British Tammy Faye. There's a whole group of strangely demented folks...
you've only recently had Quorn? Wow
I think Haz and Jacula are leading the charge, though
google Barbara Cartland, dc
the Brit Tammy Faye is Barbara Cartland, noted author <vbg>
oh, yes, i know Barbara Cartland; somehow she's not as frightening as tammy faye, more genial
seain, one of my favorite websites is veganyumyum.com have you been there?
the FDA - Food & Drug Administration delayed Quorn's entry to the US for many years, ata.
princess di's step-granny
yes, saw Haz Cartland LOL
really? wow. I lived on that stuff as a kid
NO! was she really? LOL
no, stid, i'll check it out. do you know 101cookbooks.com?
for real, ata?
yep! her daughter Raine was Di's step-mum
I don't think so, will look at that one too
not sure why, but having a rotten time accessing sites tonight. Now even the places I enter directly in the address bar are failing before they load
close and restart your browser?
and clear your browser cache
Here's Barbara Cartland -- not nearley a vulgar as the poor late Tammy Faye
neat website, seain, havebookmarked it for further perusal
I hadn't thought of that, but the son who uses Linux was also having trouble tonight. And since it isn't all sites I am sure it's not our server at home. *sigh*
"passable cook" -- faint praise indeed for a lot of effort!
oh thats scary then, BC is the height of scariness here. especially the pink obsession
and I clear the cache every time I exit and return
LOL Jill! I wondered if you would pick up on that! You know I ADORE your cooking!
actually, I rather like pink, as you will see from the little bit of my jammies in the picture...
but in a houseful of men-folk, I don't get to make too many pink statements. *grin*
pink makes me look jaundiced - i avoid all but the deepest, dustiest shades of it.
I adore pink. But not in *everything* I possess
i'm all about orange, and brown, and beige, and green, the odd deep red, blue, or purple. i can do most non-pink pastels, too.
yes, you seem more of a purple sort to me...
LOL
i'm wearing a plaid shirt in orange, red, blue, and rgeen right now :)
oh, some yellow in it too.
I stopped wearing pink in my 20s, though I love it. No one would take me seriously, since when I wore it I looked about 12... I just bought a pink shirt last week
A plaid man -- kilts, perhaps?
ok i officially give up on this puzzle. what's with all these colours?
one of my coworkers wore a pink shirt today. she and i were the colour in the office today :)
I think though, with the bits of gray in my hair, I can carry pink and not look juvenile
hello woceht
hi, woceth!
indeed so, stid
what a gorgeous fish in your icon!
I gave up pink too, a good few years ago, but now I just don't care and love pink. I have pink shoes.
heh. i like black, myself.
I want to get my Tom into a kilt. He has nice knees...
black is a decent color also. But I can't wear it if I am the least bit tired. Makes my eyes are weird.
hm. if red hat with purple dress, then i think a ... pastel blue hat with pink dress
really? haven't noticed anyone looking bad in black yet.
there's an outfit in scotland where you can design your own plaid, and have clothing made, stid.
I have VERY pale skin -- even in the summer. I have to be in full health to not look sallow and ... yeah. weird.
I know, seain! I have played with their website off and on for years. I LOVE The "make your own" feature. of course, cost is an issue, but it would be so cool to have a family plaid
it's amazing what varying the threads do, isn't it?
in terms of count and colour, that is.
yes, indeed -- and whether it's a symmetrical plaid or not, too.
It's so much easier than drawing them out by hand on graph paper like I used to. *looks around to see if anyone is bothered by obsessive color/fabric talk*
*not bothered*
is ata still here? This is Tammy Faye
my roommate loves fabrics. i haven't quite gotten to the point where i can tell what the differences are yet, unfortunately.
fabric - it was cold enough 2 days this winter for me to use my nice Irish wool sweaters. mostly, it gets not cold enough for them here. :(
oh yes ... thats quite scary!
please -- tartan, not plaid!
the scots i know call it plaid, pronounced as played.
unless they're referring to a specific tartan
Tartan is also known as plaid in North America, but in Scotland this word means a tartan cloth slung over the shoulder or a blanket.
and aren't tartans registered generally? plaid simply means any checkered fabric
indeed so, stid
my friend Elizabeth always complains that Clan Buchan's tartan is hideous, and i agree the old one is pretty awful-looking.
I was working for Ralph Munro when the Washington State tartan arrived in the offices. I got to touch it. The wool was sooooo soft, like a fine flannel. and the colors are really pretty together, too. red for the apples, blue for the waters, a gold color for the wheat, green background of course (we're the evergreen state)...
ok, I stand corrrrected -- plaid for those not entitiled to a tartan. Mine is Murray of Atholl. Naughty nephew refers to it as Murray of Ath-hole
it is gorgeous. That was a long time ago *slips off into reverie*

my state has no tartan, but the Senate of the Commonwealth has a lovely set of arms designed by the Royal College of Arms, which Virginia still recognizes as an offical authority.

stid, I seem to remember a NoVa in dc's handle
a tartan identifies you as friend or foe to anyone who knows it. They were like a sort of banner that was worn everywhere
I live in Reston, VA, about 12 minutes from Maryland, and i go to MD a lot for social stuff, and i used to go to a UU church in MD
and usually tartans are for families or clans, not for municipalities
Hi woceht in Singapore -- Scottish clans have special tartans
okay, that is probably where my confusion came from. Maybe. *looking confused*
i live about halfway between the beltaway and white's ferry. i often take the ferry if i'm home and headding to rockville or NW in MD on weekday evenings.

a tartan for most people these days is just a plaid with a name so you can ask for the one that matches your sweater.
We Scots tend to get huffy about fake tartans
yea i can see where the whole feudal concept would be a bit outdated.
yea i can see where the whole feudal concept would be a bit outdated.
so what was that about the washington tartan?
but technically only family members are supposed to wear the family tartan/use the arms/sit on the throne...
The State of Washington comissioned a tartan, one can register a tartan; Scotland has a registry.

hello everyone~
red fox barks are one of the most disturbing noises in nature. they keep me up at night sometimes; we have a lot of fox here.
I still think it's mean -- scaring the poor foxes (which are not really a very sympathetic animal if one has chickens or rabbits)
