i did something else right too! my landlords have horses. and when i got home, the horses were OUT, wandering around, their gate was wide open! i didn't know if that was on purpose but i didn't think so (nobody was home). i tried to make them go back in but they wouldn't do what i said. if it was a cat, i'd pick it up and PUT it, but you can't do that with horses. so then i looked in the barn to see if there was a rope or something, but then i saw there was a bag of carrots there, so i got a carrot and enticed them in and shut the gate! and when my landlady got home i told her about it and she said i did the right thing.

mom i am also going thru empty nest stuff. i actually love the freedom though. have to learn to cook for 2, not 3, and so that is a challenge. we have so much food, and it never gets eaten up. so i have to buy less and less. i had 6 kids so was used to major cooking and shopping. now well, it is so little. anyway i love the freedom though. my husband and i are so so free now.

Saddest thing my friends saw from my letters (real ones, written in pen and sent with stamps on) about my Dad's stay in the Ward.. was the description I gave of Marching Man (a 50-year-old man afflicted with Altzheimers... the only way his sister could get to spend any time with him was by linking arms with him and maarching upp and down with him.
