my kids are grown and on their own now...they think Koda's great company for me in their absence
we had a dog as little runts..then convinced my mom we needed one as high schoolers...when we left, he was a great companion to my mom and grandma..when she sold the house and everything in it to finish her college education, mom sent the dog to live on a farm,where he had lots of room...now mom's with my bro, and they have two dogs...she's getting used to having one around again..they are lifesavers...
sorry had to change laptops - my one is getting too old and grey in the tooth to work properly on wireless so borrowed mums

I soaked them since yesterday afternoon, changing the soaking water every thirty minutes, then I put them into fresh water, cooked them for half an hour, poured the cooking water off, and put in new water to finish cooking them.

my beans are a mix I made up of several types of beans.
how long do you soak them before cooking angel
I also made my own seasoning blend for the soup.
i just soak the beans for a day and then throw them in a pot with 4 c stock and 4 c water, hamhocks, scallions, and some potatoes, then cook for .... hours. then, i remove the hamhocks of course, and then put some of the soup in a blender and liquefy it, and pour it back in, that makes it nice and thick. i get a mix of 16 beans from stop and shop.

We have new rules about food, mainly regarding strrict scheduliong, to avoid unpleasant scenes like one we accidentally had at dinner recently. Well, tonight Walter, who know he has to come to the table and be friendly for a few minutes even if he doesn't want to eat, refused, saying he wanted to finish putting some megablocks together first. This was the third delay for that so we said, no, he could finish that afterward, come to the table! Danny got him and put him at the table. So he threw a crying fit, and milked it for all it was worth. I told him he had to stop that and he said he could not, but he was obviously trying to keep it going. It had a most irritating fake quality to it.
So I told him that he could leave the table. He went into the living roonm and kepyt it up, and after a couple of minutes got MUCH louder. So I called in, "Walter, you are only doing that because you want us to hear it, and you have to stop it or be quieter now." He went instantly silent, and after about a full minute, walked into the dining room, smiled at us, and said, "I will eat now". We had a great dinner. So I think he has figured out what "not worth it" is all about. He figured out that the tantrum was getting him nowhere and that he actually just wanted a nice dinner.

God forbid we should make a big deal out of it! We said thank you for coming back and that we were proud of him and left it at that. He isvery easily embarrassed and I think getting praise for towing the line makes him uncomfortable; I remember feeling that way too.

However, I wasn't given any opportunity to drive until after my husband left me and bought me a bloody great Volvo in the 90s.
