flosey, I soak the beans normally, but this time, I completely changed the soaking water every half hour, then I cooked them for thirty minutes, and changed the water completely after the half hour cooking. Then I cooked them as normal, adding seasonings almost at the end of the cooking time. The result is that there is almost no gas. I normally get sick after eating bean soup, but I am not ill this time.

Hi all. Liz - you can get rid of the smell of paint by various means: cut onions up and put them in bowls around the room, or a bowl of milk or vinegar will absorb the smell. Another way is to use a lavender scented oil burner.

Clever you Jac - and I actually do have a lavender oil burner to hand believe it or not!!!
But, next time, buy low-odour paint. It's brilliant. Hardly pongs at all.
