fantastic day; we had brunch, champagne with creme de casis; opened presents; lazed around; snacked, and got ready to go to our daughter's in Indy tomorrow... it was a fantastic day

Had a wonderful Christmas Eve with my Mom, daughters, sister and nieces. We laughed so much. Everyone was in excellent spirits.

We have not had elderly parents for the first time in 20 years - love them dearly but needed a break. So, just the 4 of us with occasional drop-ins for a drink etc.
well there were 20 of us for lunch at my mums then ian picked up the boys at 4pm and i came home and enjoyed the quiet nite and crashed on the couch lol

The toothfairy left her $10 as a bonus and explained that the broken tooth (from santas lollies) would help a toothfairy gain both their wings at once

we did dinner on xmas eve, had a muslim friend over (one of Maddison's class mates) and he celebrated with us. It was so magical! He enjoyed it so much! we got all the carolling, the festive bonbon breaking, the visit from santa down the street throwing lollies to the kids... they had an absolute blast!

Sammi, the boy who was with us for xmas eve, doesn't celebrate catholic xmas like us, but his mother says they can celebrate with us. So we took the opportunity and they partied till 11pm!

we don't celebrate Christmas with presents, mrP. We have Sinterklaas for that, on the 5th of december.
she came from Afganistan as a 16 year old pregnant married woman... and was 'put in her place' for 15 years by her husband here in sydney. She finally divorced him 8 years ago. Her boy is absolutely adorable! Such a gentleman! She has brought him up to be a loving and caring man

I fell ill, but was able to watch the kids and my love eating from the couch, and seeing them glow and beam, and crack jokes with them. It was so lovely.
***shhhh*** Personally, I slept all of xmas day... I woke at midday for lunch, went back to bed at 2pm, woke at 7pm for dinner, when back to bed at 10pm and woke at 11am this morning! MUST HAVE NEEDED THE SLEEP!! LOL

mrp, I am so glad you got to share your holiday with Maddison's friend! one of our boy's best friends often includes him/us in their family holy days as well.
we have our traditions... I love to celebrate xmas eve... huge dinner! we break xmas crackers and have carols on all day! We dance, sing and have a wonderful time... when it is time for sleep, the kids go to bed and we stay up and wrap presents and put them under the tree. Then, we put out beer and carrots (beer for santa, carrots for the reindeer) and toast in xmas.
I've just heard that my son is in hospital in Switzerland :(

The kids are doing well--because Dad is coping well, at least outwardly. Her mom is struggling--so angry at God. I spend every Tuesday afternoon with the kids and we have fun together.

Hi Trif, been running in and out here and not on chat. We found our abandoned kittens when they were only about 4 weeks old. Far too young to leave Mum obviously, and not even weaned. However, they have thrived, bonded to us both and are fine. They are actually the gentlest cats we have ever had. Have never put their claws out to us. At 6 weeks the Mum IS getting tired of them, because they will still suckle from her if they can. You should check that they are properly weaned, and what they are eating, before you take them. My old cat used to have kittens, and we homed them between 6 and 8 weeks. 8 weeks is good for the kitten, but 6 is good for the mother cat! I shouldn't worry. Perhaps compromise at 7 weeks?
thanks sally. i think i iwll talk it over with the human mom, and we can aim for seven, provided they are weaned, eating food, and you know, defecating and all.

The sweetest thing with our tinies was that we put a tiny litter tray down (something which had held four potatoes) and they used it from day one. We just had one wee on the floor.

Walter's favorite gift at the moment is this card game. I was dubious when my husband suggested it because it is for 6 and up, but as long as we help him a little bit by just reminding him waht some of the cards mean (like the one that lets you put down all the ones of a certain color, etc.) he is actually winning most hands and already developing skill. Skill like if he CAN put down all his red ones he thinks for himself to end on the one that makes the next person take two cards, and the like. That's my boy!

Instead of bi- or trifocals, they are "progressive"--no lines. My glasses became crooked and my vision was off--very annoying. I went to the eye shop this AM and had them adjusted. But it is very annoying at this stage of needing glasses to read and for distance.
