hi guys how many words today?

thanks
morning, all. this is going to be a very difficult week.
ok, I'll ask... why is it going to be difficult?
my ex husband's stepfather is dying. If there is no significant change in his condition by tomorrow, he will be taken off life support.
bad week indeed :/
how sad angel, i hope at least he has had a long and happy life
when my dad died that thought helped
he is 73, and is a retired minister.
he is 73, and is a retired minister.
73 seems too young to die, my dad was 83
My dad died at 60 of cancer - 73 is a good age
yesterday, he had minimal brain function and kidneys were failing.
60 way too young
far too young, I get a horrible jealousy when I see so many people older than him. Just not fair
we did get to spend the afternoon with two of our grandangels yesterday. Mom had to go help plan for her grandfather's funeral.
flog
ty
Good day Babblers. TY for that perfect clue, vcj.
Am I all alone here?
hey, scrabs! :-)
Hello Scrabbler! Happy Sunday
Good morning Une!
your welcome i actually didn't mean to type the word. I need keep better track of my cursor :)
hi all...
hello all!
Hi mom2
hey mom and TO!
We all make that mistake, vcj. I was joking about it being a perfect clue.
Hi Owl
I am up and down today... trying to get a little organized this morning.
I have to leave for work in 45 minutes but I am enjoying the smells and sights from the back deck here. I love the smell of the woods after rain.
started my new coupon system yesterday... we shall see if it works better than the old one.
Great smell!
how goes it, mom?
What system do you use, mom2?
Good TO... haven't seen you in a while. We must be on different schedules.
Well, a friend told me to alphabetize and use small envelopes, which actually fit into my old coupon organizer... so we shall see.
no longer on during the workday.
It just seems like no matter what I do I am still the woman riffling through coupons in the aisle, LOL.
Why TO? Did work clamp down on websites? Or are you just busy?
I just use a big envelope, review them before shopping, then put them in order of the aisles.
yes they did. we can get to the dictionary site but cannot access game of day link there, for example
Too bad, Owl.
Yes. I have an envelope for what I will be buying today, use the circular to make list, etc... but if I get there and think I have a coupon for an item that I forgot to put on my list... then I am searching through my organizer (which was organized by categories)... it was just a mess... so I am trying this system.
TO... my husband's job did that recently as well...
Guess what? A tornado came down about 45 min from here yesterday at about 5--closed down both roads, caused damage, but no injuries.
He said that some people were on sites when they had work to do... he was annoyed because he used to go on at lunchtime...
yikes, scrabs!!
Wow... you're in upstate NY, right?
i have a new job and would not have been on except at lunch. but on the bright side, i am getting out and walking every day at lunch now
Yes, it hit Corfu, NY. People video'ed (is that a word?) the funnel--very cool.
It's a shame that a few have to suffer for the many.
I was in a tornado once.... nothing cool about it!
No, it is cool to see, just not to experience.
eek not sure i would even want to see a little one up close. did see a waterspout once - so short lived
Well... good walking is good!
We were traveling in Canada... it was like something out of a move... the sky turned this beautiful purple color and then all hell broke loose.
My poison ivy rash is making me crazy with itching. And I have a few new patches today. I can't wait for this to be over.
meant movie, not move...but I am sure you got it!
oatmeal bath
Had not had poison ivy since I was a kid until a couple of years ago... not pleasant... sorry Scrabbs!
Oatmeal bath is very soothing.
good afternoon all
Hello Queen Jean! Yes, I must buy some today.
not a bad grid today. I'm done
I had it on my back... it was probably good because I could not scratch it but... it drove me insane!
Hi Kallia
with cinnamon and maple syrup
hi kahlia
LOL Esprit
Hi Kallia
that sounds nasty scabs
And walnuts too, Jean?
TO... did y ou change companies or just jobs?
oooh, those might get caught in unfortunate orifices
I slept well last night but since I have been up I am just squirming.
LOL, Jean
;-]
just jobs. and scrabs you will begin your new job soon?
any clues needed?
Sept 29th--I think that is 9 wks from Tuesday.
how are they treating you at work?
Most of the staff found out this past week and many are shocked and saddened. I am the morale booster and keep everyone laughing.
ah no more Richard Head stories after the 29th???
Dr Scrabs
Nice to know you will be missed... good luck Scrabbs...
I have something you will love
speaking of what Nonnie just said
Yes, good luck to you scrabbs! I hope all goes well for you :o)
Boss is finding opportunities to bully me when possible. Example: mother showed up 25 min late with 7 mo old twins, for "recheck" visit--not urgent. I had no available appts for rest of day (full schedule) so I told staff to have her reschedule. Boss found out, was furious at me (not mother) and docked me 30 min of pay.
www.prankplace.com and put in search window that name you call your boss
Hi Nonnie
I will, Jean, later.
don't forget
warning: yuo will wet yourself
Docked your pay? For goodness sake!
I don't even think that is legal. but, what do you care at this point, anyway... what do you do? Nurse or admin?
Checking it now, Jean---wow!
scrabs is a physician
don't you love it Scrabs??
how can the pay of a salaried worker be docked?
Ooh, Jean, the possibilities are endless.
OMG... if he treats you that way, how must he treat other staff members??
He owns the practice so I guess it is legal but it is rude and demeaning.
Are you going to another practice in the area?
just give him a smug smile
there is also an official site called DH world
Still don't think it is legal, particularly for "contract" employees.
Would he have paid you the half hour had you stayed over to work the patients in???
good morning, and weighing in on the side of rational and compassionate employee practices - scrabs, you are doing the best thing to get out of there
Yep, he abuses, degrades, criticizes, bullies, nitpicks, all with great excellence and no shame.
scrabs looking at new snack food on today show. dried corn kernels
TO, employees can be docked but the policy is usually spelled out very clearly and distinctly and is not left up to some subjective feeling of the moment or revenge tactics
I have been job interviewing... and I swear that I want to say... "so... on a scale of 1 to 10 how crazy, irrational, manipulative is the person for whom I will be working???"...
they loook good.
lol mom
Nonnie, no because those twins were part of my afternoon "session" so we get paid to see all patients in a session no matter how long it takes us
Really... they want to know everything about you... I went on one last week... and after the interview I spoke with several staff members about working there... let me just say... glad I did.
Too bad he is such a jerk but thank goodness you're moving onward and upward!
good idea, mom, better to be informed in advance of what you're getting into
Scrabbs... probably just so not worth it... you only have a little while left...
Read Robert Sutton's book: The No A$$hole Rule. I sat and read it at Border's one afternoon a few years ago, it started me on the road to finding a new local job, I e-mailed the author, and now I am leaving!
OMG... am writing it down and buying it!
I have ignored him regarding the "punishment" because it is not worth the hassle and aggravation. Bullies are best ignored.
I am looking for something in the hotel industry... not a ton of jobs right now because it is summer.. but the one interview I went on... did not get a great feeling and then casually spoke to staff after I left... they offered me the job, but I turned them down.
mine is doing all she can to make life miserable. she is actually moving my desk to the one that sits empty because its location is crappy. when the guy who got "my" job looks up i am the only thing in his line of sight. and vice versa.
In your situation ignoring is the way to go... but I have found that bullies are best stood up to... when you do they have no idea how to handle it.
Indeed, no response gets under a person's skin and the beauty is you didn't have to do a thing to him to get to him!
Ah, jeez.... that's a shame TO.
and it costs $ to do this. i don't know how she gets away with it.
Obviously as you are leaving then ignoring him is best... but I had a boss years ago that I stood up to and after I did it was actually a pleasant experience to work for him.
*phone call*
Gotta run...take care all and hope to see you later.
TO... master manipulators are GREAT at justification... you just have to hope that eventually someone catches on.. probably expensive to replace her as well.
here's a sad state of affairs - we provide workshops for teachers on anti-bullying - mainly to teach them how to see it, stop it, etc. among the KIDS - then we hear teachers saying, but what about principals bullying teachers????
mom wroks in some cases not all. i don'tknow what my boss knows about whom but she gets away with it. and now that she has a bout with cancer no one will cross her
What about the fact that they take these classes, their BOEs bpay for them, and they turn a blind eye anyway???? and don't get me started on administrators, LOL!
oh i am sick to deathof the dancing wedding
TO... poor you1
What the heck is the dancing wedding???
here is whatg they do if they are not the kind that backs down (i've had that kind too) they go behind you back and tell upper mgt you are trouble and wrose
OK, I must get ready for work. I will be back later.
We are paying a counselor and the state has given her a grant for this thing that is a female anti-bullying program... guess who is in the group? All the female bullies.... the group is "drop in"... it should be up to the counselor to identify the "at risk" children and then do an anti-bullying session with her "group"... by the way... she tells the kids that she was a bully in middle school.. LOL!
bye scrabs, hope your day is a good one
Bye Scrabbs good luck.
Unfortunately TO... that is office politics... you have to know when to play your cards.
i am just smiling and agreeing. let her get in her final shots
Now, my kid is not bullied... but here is the kicker... the counselor "invites" the kids to her office to discuss her program... then at the end of the year "counts" each child that she discussed the program with so that her participation numbers look like 100%... so she keeps getting state grants for the program... it's ridiculous.
And of course the admininstrator knows all about it.
When I was on the Board of Ed I tried to create criteria for these clubs/organizations that got stipends (don't so much care what the state gives her)... but to no avail.
maybe the bullies know they are bullies and are looking for ways to change
OK... they actually "bully" kids into not coming to the program, as that is their time with the Perceived as Cool Counselor...
there should be some way of comparing discipline outcomes from year to year, mom - number of suspensions for fighting, etc.
i don't believe anything is effective except someone grabbing the perpetrator by the scruff of the neck and laying down the law. based on work with adolescents in a secure detention facility
That would work if these girls ever actually got in trouble... but the administrator just lets them get away with what they get away with because they are mostly jocks... the admin LOVES his jocks.
no counseling can be done until the behavior is checked
If the counselor and the Admin are in cahoots there is not much you can do!
i agree, mom that is a problem
I am not on the Board of Ed anymore... so now I am just a parent... watch out!!!! LOL.
are these girls also protected by parent bullies - that is another phenomenon we've seen
uh-oh spoke too soon:)
JBV.. I think it is great that you run these programs. But they just don't work and they cost districts a fortune.
Oh, no... I am not a bully.
We had a situation a few years ago... something was so against current educational thinking... so I took my BOE hat off... did TONS of research... presented my findings... and it was changed... that's how I do things... emotional blackmail my be effective, but it leaves a bad taste.... best to do things properly. Work through the right channels to have things changed.
well I wouldn't say a fortune, mom, not sure, as it is not my domain, but I'd say it was worth it
And it was changed at the principal's level...
the principal is the key to getting things done at the school level, so one school at a time is better than nothing
The cost for full staff in-service workshops, continuing ed credits, etc... it is significant. And I am not against it as long as it actually accomplishes something.
Well... it was only happening at one school.
Anyway, my point is that you can effect change by working within the system... you just have to be smart about it... no reason for bullying if you are right!
bullying programs don't work because there is no accountability the parents fight the school whenever there little darling gets in trouble they blame it on someone else...in Mass. a 5th grader drew a pic of him shooting his teacher in the head with detail he got a 1 day suspension, now a year later his mother got a lawyer to try and sue for emotional damage to her son!!!
wow
BOEs are entirely too afraid of litigation... I used to say "bring it"!
If you call these parents' bluffs... often they are full of baloney.
it is tough to work at school when the kids laugh if you send them to the office since nothing is going to happen
To hire an attorney to write a letter, etc... cost is minimal... to actually proceed and file the lawsuit is something altogether different and usually not, in the end, what is done!
and even the punishment is really not a deterrent - suspension is just another day off from school
good morning, fellow babblers!
Well... yeah... but my big issue...why is nothing happening???? It's just ridiculous... call these peoples bluffs... eventually they will get the message. But the administrator really MUST document everything and use the policies as they are written.. often they do not.
morning beach.
be back soon -
morning all
Well... suspensions should be in-school with some kind of work attached.
And it can be done... it just has to be school policy.
you are right Mom, the school admin doesnt back the teachers, they back the kids
morning sue
that way the lawsuits are held down
Each situation should be taken individually.
teachers need to sue the school board a few times for mental distress and then they might start backing them
pet lover turnon cbs sunday morning -
cant, kids sleeping
clue me in pls
Here is a great example... the principal and teachers are charged with enforcing dress code. A kid is wearing something, say, inappropriate... I say that the principal should make them wear an oversized, ugly t-shirt... like a scarlet letter.. instead, the principal either does absolutely nothing (usually the case) OR sends the kid home...
was just watching, TO -- so cool!
your right mom. at my kids middle school the teacher get pink ribbons and make the kids tie their pants up with them
I love it, but it will come to an end when a parent tells them that it hurt her kids feelings
Dr. Spoke killed the system
I was at field day and these girls had on shorts that... well let me just say the mystery was over, LOL... anyway, I mentioned to the principal that these shorts were clearly in violation of dress code.. field day or not... he just rolled his eyes and said, "Should I send everyone home?"... I said, NO! Give them one of your staff of XXXL T-shirts and make them wear them... the uglier the better!
hi all
Great idea Sue... great idea!!!!
hi Boo
I offered to pay for the t-shirts out of my own pocket... with catchy little sayings on them... like, "The system must not be working... I can't read the dress code"... LOL!
hi boo.
I work in a lot of H.S. here and I tell the kids that I find seeing their underpant embarrasing and offensive
but again... who were these young ladies (and I use the term loosely).... the jock girls that HE fawns over... ridiculous.
I ask that they pick them up or take them off since usually they are wearing shorts under them
and they usually do one of the two
Seeing their underwear would have been an improvement over what we all had to look at, LOL.
lol
I am in the south so there is still some modesty
i cannot understand why parents permit this. they buy the stuff. i mean come on, why walk around with letters on your rear?
Well.. I plan on showing up at BOE meetings this year to let them know that the dress code should be enforced... and that the stipends that the teachers receive should be earned.
while adult women try to keep from being assaulted with the eyes
esp at work
I work in a school of 3rd thru 6th grade and the clothes are horrible there and you know the parents see what they are wearing!!!!!
good morning all
My favorite is the make-up in my daughter's age group... and I know they are not leaving their houses like that... nor returning home with it on... but at school... look out!
I dont know, it is very depressing
I am going to work in the garden for a bit
bbl
Gotta go... husband is up and looking for grub... bbl!
hi all .. gotta tell you i've been reading this chat and it's no wonder that, when i see these kids in court, i see a sense of entitlement, 'you're not the boss of me," "you can't tell me what to do"
i need a clue to finish. the lo 6/24. I went to the list with 10 left, but just can't see this one.
(and yes, they show up in those clothes)
more lo4/6
(with mommy ... 'not my little darling' rolling off the tips of their tongues')
it's the culture of me, welki. i do as i please.
ty hurshy - fireworks
tx hursh and congrats, wolvie!
I have no children, but I do admit that the passion for pants that fall off your a** befuddles me
hi une
well, no surprise when i see them in adult court a few years later
yay wolvie!
I mean, they can't even walk without holding up their pants. No fun there that I see
does anyone remember their father telling them to go get changed or wipe that gook off face or they were not going out?
yep. sure do, first time i used purple eye shadow. lol
he said it looked like someone beat me.
nope - cause i didn't do it in the first place - mom took me shopping and saw that i didn't buy anything inappropriate
did not do it again that is for sure
the big one for me with my Dad was if he got to the point where he said, quietly "enough" that was it
well there is a novel concept. so hursh have you been permanently damgaed as a result of that?
took a lot to get him there
not that i'm aware of...
i mean has your individuality been squelched?
well peeps - off to fix brunch - have fun
where's the individuality in looking like all the other kids?
;D
heck, my mother wouldn't let me wear make up either ... but there was a friend whose mother wouldn't tell *lol*
looking back seems what they objected to was always the extreme
i love the scene in that house episode where he interviews a young guy with long hair and a tattoo, and doesn't want to hire him... and the guy says, i thought you'd be the last person to have a problem with nonconformity... and house says something about how common 20-somethings with tattoos of asian symbols are, and if he really didn't care what people thought, he'd have a pocket protector etc
hurshy am watching sunday morning which has a pet/animal theme for the features today. btw the baby is getting so big - not a baby anymore
true, owl. i grew up in nyc ... i think that most of my rules were safety based, not 'what the other people think' based
yes, he's been a toddler for a goodish while now
i mean my dad really did worry about my safety if i went out with jeans that looked painted on. appearances DO mean something
ooh looking at dogs in paris accompanying their owners everywhere even inside cafes and the pet cemetary
you're younger than i am, owl (i'm pretty sure) and i know what you mean ... painted jeans for me would equate to hippie, which would translate to liberal, easy and cheap ... sad, but true.
(so i wore them anyway *lol*)
rin tin tin is buried in paris. apparently the original was found by a gi in france
um aren't we one step away from blaming girls for being assaulted due to looking sexy? i suspect people forget themselves as they grow older. when i was in school in the 70s there was no lack of tight and revealing clothing on both genders.
no we are not bonk.
nope, not the way i think the convo was headed
don't get me wrong, kids wear a lot of gawd awful stuff, ridiculous, tawdry and so forth. but i do recall my high school girlfriend in her tube top and second skin jeans and that's a bit more than 30 years ago.
that's just about the time period i was talking about, bonk .. it's not the 'fashion' that's been discussed, but the way our elders guided us through those times, i think
fair enough. i think kids are exposed to a lot more, a lot more quickly. and in some regards their nihilistic attitudes echo those of their elders who seem to have fallen into greed and social apathy. our leaders pretend to be conservative and moral, run off to collect billions from war and pollution. say their prayers and shag their mistresses. it ain't just the kids, as noted.
that is as i recall the gist of the conversation.
time to begin the errands of the day. bye welk
later, owl
good morning, everyone :)
bonk: the feelings of youth throughout the ages
hi nan
wow. sky just turned blue green in a matter of five minutes and big thunder rumbling. we're about to get stormed big. have a good one owl.
nan how is your daughter
fine, why?
Hi Bonkler, here the sky has gone dark and looks like a heavy rainfall, perhaps worse. Pretty big clouds to get both of us in shot. Might lose net connection!
where are you bonk, pat?
Hi Welki, I'm in Yorkshire, UK.
home of the 'magic roundabout! i must have spent half a day in it, thought i'd run out of gas! lol
finally escaped, found a nice pub where the owner opened a bottle of scotch called, 'sheep dip' and treated me to a swig or two :)
Pretty close to me then. It's sold round here!
must leave for a bit *poof*
Hi Pat -- we are coming to Yorkshire in September!
My husband will want to know the location of that pub, welki!!!
Hi Cybernan, might have some decent weather by then. The last 10 days have been rainy and sunny. Mostly rainy when the builders are here - we have removed a conservatory and are extending instead. The joiners have been delayed so it will take longer than it should - like September instead of end August! Still had to water the garden as the sun inbetween was ok.
clue for the last co 5
Cybernan, find the CAMRA site (campaign for real ale) cos where the beer id good you will find the likes of Sheep Dip and plenty more. I guess the site will prob be www.camra.co.uk. Will check for you - covers the whole of the UK.
HI hope so -- we have rented a self-catering flat in York for 8 the third week -- it will come at the end of our holiday when we are ready for some time on our own and things not so hectic as when on a tour.
usa is your ....and vowel
We're a little nervous about driving on the left, but as I am left handed and used to doing everything backwards, it shouldn't be too bad!
ty pat -- will look it up
It is www.camra.org.uk But not short of good pubs in York and ALL surrounding areas. So no worry. See the Minster before it gets struck by ligtning again. It's beautiful again.
ty -- will pass the url along to my husband -- he will be appreciative, I am sure. We do plan to see Yorkminster Abbey and the Viking museum as well as much of the surrounding countryside as we can manage.
morning!
Don't know too much about Yorkshire, but have been reading up on it. Chose it as the location for our last week because my husband's family emigrated from York about 9 generations (225 yrs) ago.
anyone have the el6?
el 6: like a dwarf, phaeton
Typically, I will be in Hampshire, twixt Southampton and Winchester then. If it is up to my grandchildren I will be fishing. I am a fairly good fisherwoman, tho a bit rusty so me and my 10yr old granddaughter will have to beat the men. They never expect it so, in effect, play against themselves and then SHOUT all the excuses in the world as to why we won. HUH!

Cybernan. Fantastic shop in Hawes, North Yorks. Well worth a visit. All the local delish cheeses. But Nth Yorks has plenty such places. James Herriott, the vet, worked the THIRSK area also not far from York. Ask n York as it has a very very good tourist info service and the VIKING museum is terrific.

yes we work with a dog rescue group
that is awesom dan weve four dogs here all from rescues
cheetah is a ton better, yes. Details at mrs2bit's blog: http://melanier-pell-mel.blogspot.com
in our town we do not put down cays or dog strays,we have over 450 foster homes that usually place over 3/4 of fostered animals within the first year;))
thats great
sadie, crossy wow that's great!

cheetah was pregnant when rescued, original adopter had to give her up, she whelped in our closet and we adopted out all the pups. wow TO that's wild

afternoons here are always so quiet
*cartwheels in* Hiya hiya hiya!
hi, judi :)
i like the live on a yacht idea
I WISH!
Strange. "ecoli" is not accepted.
as in e. coli?
That would explain why.
:) one of the first things we got to do in the biotech lab - at age 15, was to insert the tetracycline resistence from PBR 322 into E. Coli
i loved working in the lab.
such fun
but, i chose an other path
Well, I suppose there's more to life than manipulating germs and bacteria.
yes there is. My specialty came to be hydroponics
Nifty!
my career has ended up in Tech Support :)
how are you this fine day?
I am fine this fine day. Went to the farmer's market. Got lots of yummy veggies. Came home and sauteed some of them for later tonight. Made a big cucumber, basil and pea shoot salad. Had to stop washing things 'cause my fingers were getting all pruney.
of6 - sort of not on
oh, how wonderfil, juid!
judi :)
Now I'm just pecking away at Babble and sipping my ice tea. Life is tough.
iced tea. i had some with dinner last night. I really ought to make up a pot like mama used to.
Hi Babble friends. How are you today?
Hiya, Nef!
hi, nef. well, thank you, and you?
oh, tom's surgery wlll be on 24 Sep. brb - must go take care of laundry.
(I'm having a low-key day; it's beautiful weather here today but I'm dealing with a queesy stomach so just not doing much0
Iced tea? I'll stick to sips of water for now.
Seain, thanks for letting me know.
What has made you queasy, Nef?
Hi Everybody. Wearing her flak jacket, and waving a white flag, Soodle cautiously enters chog.....
I'm putting it up to too much stress this past week. (Thanks for letting me know how to spell that, Judi. Couldn't figure out queasy for anything! :-)
Hiya, Soodle. I think you're safe.
Whew!! As a mam of 3 teenagers, I don't need bickering on Babble!!! lol
hi Soodle. No one has hit us in the past 1/2 hour I think
I came in after the rift. I didn't even bother to scroll back to see what it was about.
Lifes too short, eh?
Babble should be a no quibble zone.
I think some people just don't like each other. It's none of my business, and I don't get involved. I don't think others get dragged into it *most of the time.
As Soodle' steenagers would no doubt say... what.ev.er.
yep
Oh, save me from the 'Whatevers'!! I keep telling them that when my menopause hits, I will match them, hormone for hormone!!! lol
*inserts dramatic eye roll to accompany what.ev.er*
back
lol
I am actually very lucky to have three teenagers. Because, you see, they know EVERYTHING. about everything. Don't know how I ever coped before they came on the scene!!! (tongue firmly in cheek))
Thanks for reminding me I have to do laundry, dc. Then I have to do some ironing (drudge!). Until the day shorts and t-shirts are allowed at work, I must press my blouses and trousers. Damned uncivilized if you ask me.
I'm just so glad that that time of my life is now ancient history. :-)
lol, Soodle. I'm sure they're tweeting behind your back as we speak.
i pressed pants and hung them, and have shirts in the dryer now :)
Ha!! No they're not, Judi. Cos their mam is hogging the 'puter!!!!
Good for you, Soodle. I hope you have them doing chores.
Hi all. Good afternoon.
Hiya, s'geek!
hi, scienc
DANG! I've been thinking I had NBT; and now I see that the top N is still at 0/1!

Hello kids. I am back from work. How is everybody?

hi, scrabbs. well, and you?
Lo6/24: more listless.
a cabin is made of lo*s; add, carter's little l*v** pills
Hiya, Scrabbs@!

i must say i've enjoyed your series of floral pictiures today, babrab
I am sitting on my back deck, looking at the gardens.
very nice, scrabbs
Sounds blissful, Scrabbs. Can we peal you a grape?
sonorous grapes. :) mayhap peel one?
I am eating sugar-free popsicles so as to cool off--sun is now out after a hard rain.
Peel. Peal. what.ev.er.
:D
I have a sweatshirt that says WHATEVER
How are you and Tom without Jasper, Seain?
wahhhhhh! I need a laptop so I can sit on my deck, look at the garden and Babble at the same time.
Awesome, Scrabbler. I want one that says, "Why Bother?".
judy, just set you computer up with a window view
Judy, in January I treated myself to a $379 mini-laptop from www.tigerdirect.com. Great decision.
great idea, dc
Scrabbler - you didn't get that sweatshirt from my kids, did you?
ooooo Scrabs sounds like a plan!!!
lol, Soodle!
Haha, no, Soodle. Someone gave it to me as a gift probably 15 yrs ago, because I am so easy-going.
dc, it would be tough to Babble from my kitchen counter . . .
If there's a Micro Center near you, Judy, they have great deals on rebuilt laptops
I think I'm at a point where I "NEED" a laptop! LOL
Check it out, Judy. I got the Acer Aspire One, in blue, and have been happy with it--it serves my needs/wants. Alternative was much more expensive laptop
I didn't NEED it either but now I can be anywhere in the house or yard, and I take it on vacations to use Wi-Fi.
Tiger Direct has excellent prices. A lot of stuff you order from Amazon.com comes from there.
never knew that Judi (and Scrabs). thx
I got 2 refurb HP laptops (for hubby and dtr) for Christmas from Geek.com for less than $600 (even with shipping). We've bought lots of stuff through them over the years and have always been satisfied
TY for sharing that, Nef--another good resource
thx Nef
Must get anit-itch cream for poison ivy rash...BRB
sounds like I'm gonna find a laptop I can afford. Woohoo
oh no Scrabs . . . poison ivy . . . yuk
oh, yes, there are many affordable windows laptops to be had with just a tad of research
Yahoo Judy!
Bummer, Scrabbs. Cortisone is good - dries it up too.
just love my networking pals here in Babbleland
If you're going natural - baking soda paste and/or calendula oil.
I have been applying steroid creams and Gold Bond anti-itch (menthol & pramoxine). Exposure was 7/17 so I am looking forward to resolution soon.
clue pls re 6/21 I have one of them
gun re6 or re6 pocket change
Ijust found re6/24
*wondering . . . does doing laundry and babbling constitute multi-tasking*
re + currency. re + spring like item. re + meet up.
it does, Judy, laundry is a happy chore that way.
need second re 6/21 - have the one referring to gun action
I am doing the same, Judy, and I just clipped out coupons, and am reading Sunday comics too
Technically, you are doing three things, Judy. Laundry, Babble and chatting!
need the meet up---
wow, Scrabs, you're good!!!
no i have that
I think I shall throw in the towel for today at 23 remaining. I need to move around and do something practical.
Time managment is very important to me so I am always multitasking.
COme back later, SG
me too Scrabs
Maybe - I get frustrated when I cannot see the words and I am at that point...... Enjoy!
When you return you will "see" more words. It is amazing
re6/24: particular area (county, town, etc.)
sg, when you come back, those words will be staring you in the face!
very true Scrabs.
Teen girl next door is playing the piano---aaarrgghhh
We'll see. I may not return. I need to prune my hibiscus and weed some nut grass out of the beds. The pool is calling my name also!
Fireworks!
congrats, judy!
Need the other re 6/21. there are two of them
SG, I see that, like me, you are 49. When will you be 50?

Hi, Pini
*wondering why someone has invented self-folding laundry*
hiya Pini
Hi Pini
*has no
oh crap *has not*
peri, we were told about it by a computer geek friend years ago. I once bought a used red iMac for DH's 84 yr old aunt so she could have email and play games. It cost $99 (and I had to get the keyboard and mouse extra)
I knew what you meant CJ
thankfully we're all pretty fluent in typonese, judy! :)
it made sense to me too, CJ!
Yes we are, Pini
Ms. Winkle...you're in teh grid today! :)
LOVE friends that think alike! LOL
*the
CJ, I saw sometehing on TV, a cardboard contraption that helped you fold laundry correctly. think it cost $20 plus SH& and you still had to fold it. thought it looked like a waste of money
* giggle *
It's a waste, Peri...cuz you can get the directions to make one out of a cardboard box on YouTube!!!
I was in the grid yesterday. do not see me in the grid today
I did not buy it, someone
oops, you're right Peri...yesterday's grid (sorry)
had an idea to make some $
Phew, next door teen girl stopped playing the piano...she was trying to play top 40 countdown, it seemed, but with many errors
hahahahaha Scrabs
were her windows open, chasing you back inside, Scrabs?
Pini, dear, today is Sunday, July 26. Are we on the same page :)
Nope, I have stayed out here but I was just waiting for her to get bored
To heck with the cardboard thing, Peri. Send me a cute male laundry folder!
* giggle * thanks for the update, Peri...I needed it!!!
only if you send me one first, CJ :)
Can I put my name on that laundry folding list?
sure, Pin
get in line, Pin!!!
* standing in wait semi-impatiently *
going to read for a while, bbs
Bye Peri
take care, peri!
bye Peri
bye peri.
phantom = fifth
Scrabs, I didn't see that til you said it. thanks
Hi! Is this one of those litte-but-nasty or little-and-easy grids?
No thanks needed. It doesn't work
bak
First half has been fun, Gwen, but I am stuck at 46 to go.
Hi gwen! I thought little and easy.
looks like 46 is the magic number...
Down to 43 now
I know, Scrabs; it wasn't visible to me before but sure is now! ;-)
hello Seain
Well then, I have about 45 minutes to spare right now, so I'll see what it's like. *splash*
* covers self with towel *
Any "pre" words?
At least it wasn't a cannonball splash! :)
I haven't found any, Scrabs
I'm counting down to 9.00 p.m. (GMT) They are showing Thelma & Louise. I got myself a date with Mr Pitt!!! Cannot wait....
none Scrabs
*wiping water off self after Gwen's dive*
prego doesn't work, Scrabs. ;-)
*splashes in as well* Hi all!
well, now that I'm wet from Gwen's dive, I think I'll go change and sit on my front porch rocker to read the paper. Nice chatting with all you lovely people!
I prefer Francesco Rinaldi sauce--I bought 2 jars yesterday
no pre words. hi all
Bye, Judy, and hello Madi
I started a trend! Yippee! (Splashing is good on a hot day.)
Hi Lynxxx. TY, I will stop entering pre words
Bye Judy! Hope you dry off soon!
After 9 bells, Soodle will not be found on the chog. She will be attaching herself to the TV screen, alarming all in her vicinity.
What will you be watching, Soodle?
Thelma, Louise, and Mr Pitt - in his younger, 6-pack days. Bring it on..............
Aha, well you enjoy.
* slight drool *
Brad has never done "it" for me--not my type.
Down to 37
he's a good look
there are others that are tall drinks of water!
Ooooh! Mrs Pitts boy has always done it for me........... But I hope Thelma & Louise survive tonight. maybe they won't go over the edge this time.....
There will probably be a new ending just for you, Soodle
You never know, Scrabbs. Maybe this time..............
Ooh! Pretty!! One whole row grayed out! (Yeah, it only took two words, but still...)
'
Down to 34 and time for a break. BBL

Thanks. Would never have guessed that.
How's the essay coming, Madi?
hi all...
[Note to self: Don't ask Madi about the essay again. It kills the chat log.]
nah gwen, people were just holding their breaths till I arrived :)
Whew. Good to know. Hi!
this grid seems okay... thank goodness not like yesterday!
I asked for opinions before I started -- consensus was 'little-but-nice', as opposed to 'little-but-nasty'

Hello again. I went for my walk in the park and got rained upon. Now I am here to finish--24 to go
Is anyone here? Am I al5?
no i'm here :D hahaha :D
NO. you are not al5
hi scrab
I'm searching for 9.
Hello all. I was about to ask myself for a clue for je4.
hi Scrabbler. Anyone need clues?
There is no 9 in this grid.
Ah, you mean 9 words. Sorry, I misread.
je + not off
:) Sorry, should have clarified
TY, Luv
Is go5 related to the preceding 4?
add a higher point tile to 4/6 but not related
Aha, TY, Luv. I would not have tried that...unless I paid attention to the point total.
that one always gets me too
10 to go--with the list I am finding words that I thought I had already entered.
hi everyone!
Hi dawger
in 5,10 please?
in + allow
may disappear, we're getting some loud thunder here..yeah!
li5/14 please?
in + allow or permit
Hi Scrabs! go go go!
hi all
hi jmc
li5 - big animal combo
li 5/14 a lion mixed with another type of wild cat
We have had rain off and on, occ very hard, but no thunder. Tornado touched down 45 northeast of me yesterday at 5 pm.
Argh, I ALWAYS miss that li5 word in these grids.
oooh, that's a bit too close for my comfort
2nd re6/24?
cover with thin gold paper again
thx
Is of6 related to of5?
re 6/24 re + cover with gold
Has anybody ever grouted ceramic tiles? I need to repair my shower wall tiles and am ready to give it a try.
no, scrabs
of + what we call an obvious word in Babble
it
Is of6 a compund word?
NM, TY, Luv
of + tuna, halibut, sword...
Maybe I will cook salmon for dinner now
I ate ice cream for dinner
i like both ideas!
I have grouted ceramic tiles
Yummy, jm! You got your essential fatty acids for the day!
sometimes you just gotta give in so you can be good the rest of the times
I don't keep ice cream here because it talks to me, "Eat me, eat me."
jm, I have the grout, the floater, a sponge--is this doable or will I get frustrated and want to pay someone?
I buy a very small container and eat it all at one sitting
I bought some replacement tiles
no it is doable
I like DIY projects and to save money.
but you may want to read about how to do it.
2nd fl5/16, please?
Sometimes I buy 1/2 gallon containers and eat it in one sitting--moreso in the past when PMS made me psychotic
follow the instructions or go to lowes or home depot for instructions from a professional
one who takes flight or a brochure
jm, I did some reading, watched a video, but I am scared
Thanks!
then you will do fine red -- it really isn't that hard
hi luv and gwen
You can call me Red even though I am Scrabbler
hi jmc
lol
Just don't call me Feather
Hello and bye, as I'm about to leave.

Bye Gwen
bye gwen
Scrabbler, you can do the grouting yourself it isn't too tough
Hi Buff 7 Nef
Hello -
I think I can do it--I can, like the little engine that could.
hi buff
my flight got in at 12:30 my luggae arrived at 1:15 and I got ot my house at 3
poor jmc. are you getting reacquainted with your bourbon?
and yet I had to get up and go see Mother
I was at Lowe's yesterday and came up with so many projects to do here in my house
la 5,12 anyone?
no I thought I would drink wine tonight
Just follow the directions. But I certainly wouldn'teat it; especially a 1/2 gallon container of it!
Like fa5
were you one last night when I told about the police raid?
oh wait never mind :D
rhymes with what you have if you believe in something
no, jmc, do retell!
I would do the same thing scrabs if I had any money
Oh, no, Nef, it would certainly cause constipation, but if I do the project myself I can get a 1/2 gallon of triple chocolate fudge almond crunchy delight ice cream and reward myself
a police raid, jmc? What happened?
as you konw I was at a Baptist conference in Utah
I would rather to DIY projects than pay someone else
Ahhh! Now THAT makes sense Scrabs!
jm, I saw you and the Baptists on CNN
I was invited to a birthday party by one of the board members
me too scrabs but even diy costs money
jmc; don't tell us the Baptists got in trouble in UTAH of all places!
And projects take time
don't you love it Nef?
I told them I would have a good time with this
lol scrabs
when they knocked on the door we thought we had been too loud
but it was because we had beer and wine at the party
and...
So Tell us what happened!
apparently it was dry campus so we said we would stop drinking
who told on you? or were you table dancing?
the cop and the little nark (wearing a bandana in true nark tradition) said we had to get rid of the alcohol
so we offered to put it in the truck of the car andthey said it had to get off campus
so we offered to park off campus and they said that we had to pour it out or they would card us and possibly more
well, i guess rules are rools.
(my ID was somewhere else)
I understand telling us to stop drinking and put it in the car or the car off campus but POURING IT OUT!?!?!
li 5,14 please?
sounds really like they are a bit anal retentive about it all
two big cats crossed bred. sudoku
Yes, far too uptight!
so my friends started pouring it out (18 beers and 2 bottles of wine) and I said if they wanted it poured out they should do it themselves!
Alright, time for dinner of some sort then perhaps grotuing tile before bed.
so everyone sat down and watched the little nark pour it out
have fun? scrabs!
ok thank you :D
have a nice dinner scrabs
hope he got his kicks out of that.
the cherry on top was the nark saying "I try not to drink" and I said-- either you drink or you don't. if you have to try not to you have a drinking problem.
bye Scrabs. Good Luck on the grouting!
the baptists all giggled quitely
touche` jmc
LOL!, jmc, it sounds as though you had as much fun watching (and nonviolently harrassing ) the narc!
anyway I think it is funny to have a police raid of a Baptist party
definitely a self righteous little pinhead
that's me--universal nonviolent harasser
just have to remember next time to move the party off campus
I think it's hilarious! Did it make the daily paper? I'd love to have a copy of that! :-)
no thank goodness it did not -- I would have some splaining to do to my Mennonite and Brethren donors!
if I get arrested it I would prefer it to be for a matter of principle! lol
Well, I was thinking of the type of police report that gets put in our small suburban paper: "police found several people drinking on a dry campus; alcohol was dumped, all involved were of age" -or something of the sort
holy rollers rapped for illegal adult beverages on dry campus.
lol I like lbd's version better
LBD, I love that! However, our suburban paper is much too boring to come up with swomething like that!
Nef, our police blotter would have had a heyday with that one!
something
of 6,39 anyone?

lbd, I forget; you do not live in Msla, do you?
thank you dawg :D
not in missoula, i'm up north of there...kalispell

truly, jmc!
just a hop, skip, jump, or two
I have a sister who is a police detective there and their paper doesn't get a lot of "interesting" stories!
only about 10 hours right?
I love Kalispell!
my husband was a criminal lawyer and the lawyers lounge was always a fun place to be
the daily interlake is a sorry excuse for news, but the police blotter is a hoot to read.
depends on where in Utah you were, jmc
Ogden
closer to 12 hours, jmc. it's two hours to missoula, and from there, depending on which highway you take...
it's a distance.
ah well still in western terms no too too bad
I've driven that before from Missoula to SLC.

My friend, JMC - she's on Myspace.
Oh thank you J.C. dahhhling. I've never finished one before. :)
I never had any trouble driving through montana

ahhh there she is, whoooo hooooo LAURA!!
JMC - remember the beautiful, dark-haired young lady who posted the funny Richard Simmons graphic in a commnet on my My
lbd, did you hear of us being hit and run by a horse in MT before?
Oops . . . :P On my MySpace page?
Well, that's Laura . . .
i've been hit by a deer and slobbered by a bison.
hmmm nat so active on all those social pages as you JC
what happened, Nef?
did you hit either the deer or bison back?
I haven't been lately either, JMC . . .
deer left a hoof print in my rear bumper! bison drool, nasty stinky!
I've had to take my page down twice in the past fortnight. :( It's back up now, though - and protected more. (Stalker trouble.)
I was jumped by a deer once and the hoofs dragged my roof! scary
sorry to hear of the stalker trouble --- I have my own version of that and it is so discouraging
you can never seem to get away from them
guess we're their targets, jmc. for all those that get hit by cars, they have to take it out on someone!
Dumb drunken cowboy riding a horse in the middle of the night, got bucked off and two more drunken cowboys in a big 4X4 truck stopped and the 3 of them were trying to chase down the horse and they chased it right into our car! We had $4000 on our little Colt Vista: front roof, passenger side and rear-end damage
I guess I was glad the deer more or less cleared me
bummer nef
Oh god, the poor horse!!! :(
did they pay for the damages, nef?
poor colt vista!
little cars don't have much of a chance in that instance. i think the horse definitely has a chance of not being hurt too badly.
The drunk cowboy took the horse "to my farm on the next right there;" and the other 2 jumped in that truck and did a U turn and took off; leaving DH, me, and the 2 kids to pick up the car-top carrier and everything else. The windshield was broken in on me too
in otherwords you never got a dime
you all are so lucky to not have been hurt!
Oh my god, Nef - that's awful! :(
Yes . . .
our insurance covered it because the cowboy lied. It was a hit and run. the hiway patrol was going to put out an APB for an injured horse; but the horse was moving pretty darned good that night
re 5,12 please
ae pls?
well, i hope the horse was okay, and i hope the cowboy got bucked off again on a thorny cactus!

whooo hoooo autumn!!
hello all, I have a question.
*** waves buh-bye ***
hi peri
hi peri
I was recently on faceboook and a window opened up that said I had a trojan virus. has this happened to anyone else?
whats your question?
bye autumn
and apparently my virus protection is not working :(
actually the pop up was probably the virus
Are you sure that wasn't merely one of those annoying pop-up adverts, designed to frighten you into clicking on it and buying their product, periwinkle?
There are many like that . . .
evening all... waiting desperately for Chicken.
I got off of facebook and turned off the computer.
if the window says click here to clean the virus, don't do it! that's how you get the virus!
never happened to me... sorry, my mom knows a lot about computers but i'm just playing her babble :D
I'm sure that's probably what it was, as there wouldn't be a virus warning on a website such as that.
it said it was from windows. I didn't
And yes - what lbdawger said is also often true!
Was it from your actual anti-virus programme though, periwinkle?
windows doesn't do that ...so that is your first clue
No, what JMC said is right - Windows doesn't do that. So most likely, it is one of those adverts that pop up - close and ignore it.
yea, it's one of those nasty little adverts that want you to download their junk, but it also turns out to be a nasty spam thing that can really mess up your computer
I've seen lots of those - designed to scare you into downloading, as lbdawger's just said . . .
ah, never thought of that . I feel better now. No it was not from macafee which is apparently not working altho my nephew and brother in law both say it is installed. nothing happend when I click on their icon.
sorta like the phone calls that tell you that your warranty is about to expire
They are best closed with the 'X' in the upper right corner, and forgotten about. Never click on anything except that 'X' to close them!
Yes, JMC . . .
click on your macafee icon, run scan and let it do it's thing.
when I click on the macafee icon I just get their logo which blinks on and then off. it does not appear to be working :(
I am not able to run a scan which is what I wanted to do
try right clicking
Peri - where you playing Farm Town on FB? I have had that happen in FT.
Oh no, periwinkle - perhaps you have a virus, which has disabled your antivirus programme then - but perhaps not, don't panic. Can you get a technician to check your computer?
I was trying to play Scramble. I really like that game.
McAfee may not be able to remove it. It is a trojan and needs to be removed with an anti-spyware program. I had several of them on this pc. Husband cleaned it last night.
my nephew works with computers but he could not come over tonight
what kinda geek are you that your husband has to remove it! lol
I had that happen to me once, and the virus disabled my Norton Antivirus programme. I since learned from a good technician never to use a well-known antivirus programme like Norton or McAfee, because those are the ones the virus-coders write viruses for . . .
peri, before you panic, did you reboot your computer?
I did rebot
My vote is to let the nephew disable and remove it.
It didn't damage my computer in any way though, and I was able to get rid of it just fine.
CLean your history also.
They tend to make your computer run very slowly....
Yes, go with what sciencegeek suggested - good advice. ;)
I use AVG which you can down load free or pay for a bells and whistles version
thanks for your advice. I will try not to panic
ok, will go now
I use AntiVIR - it's from Germany, and it's very good. Same deal as the one JMC describes . . .
Don't panic. Just don't click on the pop ups!
I will never click on pop ups
How is everyone else tonight?
It self-updates automatically, about three times a day.
good practice peri!
peri? do you have system restore in start/programs/accessories/system tools?
other than a head ache and not enough sleep I am fine science
I just read some terrible news in our local paper. Apparently two of my former students were murdered in Austin, Texas, this past week!
oh no! science that is terrible!
Oh no, I am terribly sorry to hear that, sciencegeek! :( How upsetting!!!
I am in shock. It was on America's Most Wanted this week. I did not see it. I saw the obits. 21 and 22 years old they were. AHH. They caught the shooter. It was over a drug issue
Oh my god . . . :(
so sad science
That's really terrible, SG. My sympathies to you.
THis young man owed our victim 7,000 for pot. He went to the apt and shot the boy and then shot the girl because she was in the home.
yesterday, a four year shot his two year sister; and a three year old shot his four year old brother ... somehow these children go hold of loaded guns
Horrible. I am so saddened. I feel so bad for the parents. I lost a child 9 years ago today and you never get over it!
Very sorry to hear that too, sciencegeek - no, of course you wouldn't ever get over it. :(
oh science that is terrible too!
BR - I know it seems to happen every day. But, this is ridiculous - over drug money - pot money !
I cannot imagine what I would do if my son was killed
I am so sorry, SG.
I can remember them so well even though I have seen them in 4 years.
Thanks, I am just venting here a bit. I really need to let you guys solve this grid!
If you pray, pray for the Barnett and Gossey familes.
no no science part of the value of babble is the ability to rant or vent or even tell funny stories
Goosey - oops
You must've needed to, sciencegeek - which I'm quite sure nobody here minds, at all.
I will hold them in the Light
pray for us all
THanks for listening. :) God bless all of you!
{{{{science}}}}
See you tomorrow at some point. I really need to stay off of here and teach - 4 more days of summer school.
And you, sciencegeek - and the families of those poor kids! :(
Thanks.
be well, sciencegeek

how are you holding up?
been lkng for that all day...oy! n thx!
not well..
did you hear my silly story?
no.. sorry I missed it.
I am a plodder, Jen, with limited functionality
I was at a baptist party that was raided by the police
BR! you lie like a rug!
a plodder!
jenmo looks up plodder
you are kidding .. were they mormon cops?
pretty much ru! lol
we were committing the crime of drinking beer!
oh my god.. that is a misdameanor in Utah!
so all these years of avoidin getting arrested. . . .!
yes?
the little narc (complete with a narc headband) brought the police who insisted that we could not take the beer elsewehere but had to pout it out
unbelievable!...
was it mediocre beer at least?
i need the "h" word please
my hosts started pouring it out and I said if they wanted it poured out they should do it themselves
I guess I am now consorting with hardened criminals here in babble ...
actually---I would never tell my hosts--it was pretty lousy beer
that's me!!!
hi -- the part of a sword before the blade
that is hysterical jm..
to top it off (try not to yawn here BR I know you heard this all before) the narc said. . .
and so sad. you need a cocktail!
you could say that you were "Pabst-stized" I guess
"I try not to drink" and I said -- you either drink or you don't
if you have to try not to drink you have a drinking problem
too true
I am happily drinking wine tonight
Sometimes I can't believe we live in 2009..
well it was Utan ru!
sometimes it feels like the dark ages
me too.. a nice Cabernet
are you back home now?
oddest thing what that the only bars I saw in Ogden were pretty sleazy
I told my hosts I intended to may a great deal of hay from this story!
they did n't mind being told not to drink but they were furious that their beer was pour out
There are many beautiful places in Utah.. but I don't care for the Mormon Church and its work
it isn't like you were all doig crack or something...
the other thing I did though ru was to meet with the very very sweet farmer. . .
doing.. that is
who was one of 10 (count them) Mormons who refuse to fight in WWI
thxs, got the h word after conferring with the dictionary
crack is too much trouble
wtg Jen
sorry WWII
how many wives did he have that farmer?
only one
how unusual for Utah
he told me that his father taught him he should never do anything he could not do in love
when he was drafted in WWII he thought--I can't kill people in love
what does that mean?
alovely guy
what does what mean ru?
he took a lot of hits for refusing to fight
he should never do anything he could not do in love.
The hits are worth it if you don't believe in killing people. I would never have gone to war.
fo 4/7??
he saw it clearly to mean that you have to do the right thing regardless of the hits
there are three of them gin which one?
he claimed he never had a problem but his wife told me differently
what did she say?
she said -- I don't agree with him. But my friends asked me if I really wanted to marry him
last
she told me how he was invited to retire early
fo + not out

any way I had a good time in Utah but probably never want to go back lol
a printers type of lettering = fo 4
I liked Zion Park.. but not Utah
after all the monkeying, you'd thunk i woulda found it...thx ru
are you back home now jm?
I had a nice time in Temple Square in SL but. . . my husbands family was severly Mormon
home until Saturday when I go to RI
this is my summer . . .religious meeting to religious meeting
at least you can have a beer there
lol ru!
I have 20 left but am pretty tired
morms can be scary folk... i was raised morm until i was 16
Is 'severely Mormon' worse than 'strict Mormon'? LOL
Hi all, btw.
hi jac
my husband's family are so Mormon that I can mention their name to Mormons and get recognition
any clues on the last f word?
lol Jac probably

GinGer" that is.
LOL jmc, re St. Paul.
ty jac
So, you're on the road to Damascus all summer, jmc?
sorry, let me rephrase that: the f next to the bottom row surrounded by s, h, i, f, and a
pretty much jac
gotta watch out for those blinding lights!
fi4/8? Aquatic creature you'll have thrown at you when you get it?
jen how about a fi4 and a drum is part of the painting of patriouts
Hello again everybody. Just coming up from the grid for a minute. I have 7 left
Or maybe fi5/18 - horrible dirt. Maybe porn?
so jac did you see my silly story about the Baptist party?
hi nef go neg go!
No, I didn't jmc.
Hi Nef.
i also, have 7 left. fo 5/20??
My party was raided by the police
the 1st column F is the Fi and drum
the f that has only one word attached to it
ging I am an old fo5/20!
ginge - fo5/20 is a boring old fart that rhymes with what a bored teenager might pick out of a nostril.
it's the F4/10 if you need thestats
What??? Jmc. Why?
doesn't rhyme in US Jac
an old drum.....not getting it, can it be rephrased, please?
it was a birthday party of Baptists in Utah where the Mormons reign
Doesn't it, jmc?
two different clues jen
fo= I am an Old fo*** or fart
'o' sounded as in the word 'oh'.
got it, thanks!
the pictures about the american revolution show three guys one with a fi** and the other with a drum and the third holding a flag
got it thx!!!
jmc - I'll only 'allow' you to say you're 'old' 'cos you're 5 years' older than me. ;-)
nose pickings is booger in US
lol jac!
age is a state of mind
any way the police came to the door and we thought is was because we were too loud
(easy to say ging when your age is hidden)
That must be why I feel 18 some days and nearer 90 during others, ginge. LOL
loud baptists!! oh no!
but it was because we had beer at the party
now, i am finding the "obvious" words i should have been seeing!!
Oh heck, jmc!
try to keep thinking 18 jac
Did they confiscate your booze?
so the little narc (complete with head band) came with the cop and we said we would stop drinking since we didn't know it was a problem
ok... so at 8:30 at night it is 80 degrees outside...
Jen - that's pretty normal for the end of a grid.
I wish jac they told us to pour it out!
it just takes one word and then i find the rhyming words!
oh bummer JMC!
the hosts were going to do it but I said that if the narc and the police wanted it poured out they should to it themselves
DR - no need to gloat about having summer weather when we in UK have none. Mind you, what with the hot flushes (flashes) I don't need external temps to make it high summer.:(
I thought it was funny!
I would gladly bottle it and send it to you Jac. : )
If I had bought the beer I might have though other wise
anybody need clues?
yes
yeah, sudo, 74 of them!
I am ok Sudoku- I have about 20 to go
okay it has been ten minutes and I have not gotten even one clue
le 4?
fi6/30
yes stuck on last s
haha ok :D well just ask and i'll help if i can :D
To be honest, if it was a Baptist party I don't see how the Mormons could inflict their beliefs on it.
2nd re6/24 please
plural of fi 5 18 ]
hi shorty!
which one? jm?
Which le4?
it was on a dry campus -- a state school that was formerly Mormon
i have two jmc, one grows on a tree and the other is a Christian holiday
s + a room w*** a view
uhhh the last s: the dark side of star wars
2nd re6.24 is to put gold le4 on again.
ty Jen I needed the Christian holiday
Even so, jmc... a bit heavy-handing methinks!
definately Jac!
re 6 24 recoat gold
I am sure the Baptists will not be coming to Utah any time soon
re + Throckmorton P. ****ersleeve
cr?
ooo BR an old time radio fan!
HI BR.
hehehehehehe
King CR5 and the Coconuts?
thx sudo... took awhile. 'phone call
West Indian or Louisiana type food?
ty jac
yw
but BR? I think it Throckmorton has a D rather than a T
jmc - The Baptists - I don't blame 'em! Steer well clear of 'snitch county'.
me either Jac!
missing one of the re6/24's, got the one with money got the one you get when you fire a gun, what am I missing?
hi holly

okay I am hitting the hay guys
see you tomorrow
I gave you the re6/21s, got the area and the gold now whay am I missing, sorry
bye jmc
'A hooded youth was seen in the ar4 around the crime scene'. US police would say 'in the vicinity of'.
re 6/33 = re+ become a member
OH! You want re6/21s? First is what you might do if you saw something horrible, or maybe if you were rewinding a rope.
Thank you JMC, that was my last word!!!!!
re 6/24= Ronald re****
go 5/20??
whoo hoo Holly!
y/w Holley. Which one was it?
*poof*
wtg Holly!
go5/20 = 'vanished/departed' + a consonant.
It was the re6/24 to become a member again

Hi Kazz. All done here - just drawing in another 'poor fool' who little realises how much their life will change once Babble clasps it.
this chatterbox has a terrible lag time
Got it....thanks y'all.
yes it does :D
my 3rd grid and i think i am already addicted
lol Jac!
Shouldn't have a long lag time on a short grid with a not too big chog unless you're not on Firefox or haven't cleared your cache, ginger.
Hey! Ginger managed to type addicted as opposed to addicated.
Just need two more to finish...le5-16 and fi5-16 the 2nd please.....thanks
on firefox, cache is clear, but my isp may be experincing heavy bandwidth usage
and just call me "gin", sweetie
(Most new Babblers are either extemely tired or 3 sheets to the wind when they begin to protest that they can leave here anytime they want.
babble. the new crack.
le5 is a plural ..
I can leave here anytime I want!
Oh 'Gin'! I thought you were a redhead! LOL.
Thanks, torgone.

I dare you to leave NOW, calypso.

Thanks so much, torgone. I just got home from Kentucky.....had to go to a friends' funeral....so didn't have a whole lot of energy going into this one. Thanks so much.

Well done peach .. Kentucky has always been a trial for me too ..
caly sorry jeez i cant type anymore
I know where Ican flirt outrarageeously, should I want to, and know how to take any post same you might make, And I will also be able to understand some posts you might make (esp., for clues) more clearly.
spot on!
Thatt read a bit condescending, did't it? Wasn't meant to.:(
no worries
Some people are not meant to be blonde .. You should see southern Cal. ..
honey, i lived in ca for awhile and saw more trashed hair there than you could shake a stick at.
LOLOLOL Torg! Not seen them in person, but have seen some photos.
hello hello I am at my wit's end I need one more re 6/24 to be done..I have the first one that sounds like a former president and I have the one that mean to cover with gold again..help, please
the other is a large area westie..
think area
re6 -al foods
As a former hairdresser, I totally understand. Back in the 60s they were trashing hair by bleaching it with neat peroxide and then backcombing and lacquering it, which took bicarb of soda in the washing of to remove. But then they had the same uppy style done again and wondered why their hair broke off. These days, it's all the hair-straightening and the products that go with it.
Or to enroll again ..
thanks both I am thinking...
no that one is 6/33 torg
Yosemite is a re 6-al park
I think it's almost here ruru
chinese food is re 6-al food
I love really black hair on a woman and too many of them dye it blonde or worse .. *shudder* streaks ..
eek! blonde streaks on dark hair is so-o unpleasant to behold.
Erm, I have blondish streaks now to disguise the encrouhing grey in my formerly dark brown hair.
But my dark hair had become paler.
i have many different colored streaks in mine :)
i was thinking on level 1,2, or 3
I've just given my stepdaughter a dye on top of heer dark brown/blonde streaked hair. It was Grand Canyon Red. She's now kinda Sharon Osbourne a few years ago.
I can't get it..what do yosemite and chinese food have in common she asks herself?
our hair cert. does tend to lighten w/ age. I was once level 3.5 and now am a 5 with too much gray
abbreviation for normal re* plus atomic particle west?
She wanted and 'all over red colour' but I warned her that it wouldn't happen with a temorary dye (which is all she'll be allowed during the 6 week school summer hol anyway).
I got it. Thank you kaz and all for the help
yay west!
Jac I think you just described my hair color lol
color was always my fave thing to do
I was trying to get an 'again' word.
congrats west!
my brain just flew out the window
jenmo has 55 left and 699 points-will she make it over 700?
I have no problem with women coloring their hair but I just prefer a more natural look ..
Kazz - I was quite peed off that I gave my 'Step' the coulour I asked my hairdresser to give me about 3 years ago.
she will
I still need the re5 words ..
Torg - mine would be dark brown with a hell of a lot of grey now. If you think that looks good in long hair, then fair play to you.
i believe some experimentation is good for one, but ultimately think one should try to stay within one's tonal range
opp of pro and grease
two words
Thanks west !!1
unless one has aone of those rampant wild urges and cannot control oneself. then, anything goes. that's what color correctionists are for, right?
vw torg
jenmo just hit 705 points! woohoo!
Lime green, shocking pink, purple . . .
see?
after all, in the 80s, i had fuchsia hair for a few weeks!
LOL, gin.
I've had every colour on my face, and a few in my hair. :P
well i love my fuschia red/ brown / blonde combo
it seemed the thing to do at the time
con and grease?
and J.C I think pink is your color lol
Oh, so you speak to people on here, Kazozz - but log into the messenger, see me online and just log off again? :/
Oh, I see you've logged in there again, now . . .
Kazz - my daughter's hair is not dissimilar in colour to yours right now AND she backcombs and lacquers it for nights out.
Yes, it seems to suit, for some reason. :P
2 re5 words caly
well, all. it has been fun, but i hear sleep calling my name. i am sure we will meet and babble again sometime!
okie
716 and 70 words, woohoo, better go to bed now, work tomorrow! Bye!

thank you. i love the feeling of finishing a grid.

anyone need (not so clever) clues?
PB?
wtg slippers!
yay ballet!!
PB = penalty box (for saying a word that's in the grid)
thanks :) you guys are so supportive and sweet. It makes me less afraid to pipe up in the chat.
Penalty Box for putting words in the chat, lol! It's full of goodies.
oops.... it's fun to be here hehe
Do not be afraid ..
oh, no need to fear any of us! we're all harmless and helpful!
...and sometimes we even crack ourselves up!
but i'm all shy and awkward lol i'm always nervous to talk to people
in case you're wondering, the word you used is the aquatic animal
i figured that out, jilli. hehe. I could have said "pass that swimming animal over here"
I'm not sure anyone can be shy in a chat room...
well, we coulda slapped you with a tuna -- or a sardine...
Morning. This is the first time I've been up to see the end of one grid and the start of the next.
hy hydra ;)
well maybe i should take your attitude, pini. I guess I fear rejection.. hehe
no rejections here except for trolls
ooh first flip for hydra. it's a little exciting.
oops. I only got nine words -- got distracted and wandered off! *HUGE BIG MOAN*
hi stiddie!
hello stid and hydra
that's not like you!
Yes. What happens? Does it just vanish? Do we get suspended in cyberspace?
hey stid. there will be a new grid in no time and you can forget about today's nine words.
Hi west!
Don't think I'm gonna find 6 words in 9 mins.
hi stid :)

hi west in case I missed you :)

Nice of you to offer ballet, but think I'm outta time.

Typo. I meant 62!!!
Out of time - oh yes. I only need 59 words, in 6 minutes! :P
cute pic, west -- cute pet!
oh, in that case...better luck on the next one!
hahaha well there might not be plenty of time for 62....
