would like to suggest that if dr god and lickety want us freashmen to stay, they might want to consider a less overwhelming puzzle. we don't have babbleexpert and it's a very daunting exercise sans BabbleExpert..
wtg trif!
I think it is reandom Kate
it's totally random Kate, sometimes there are 10 little ones in a row, sometimes 10 monsters.

I don't have Babble Expert, and it doesn't seem to matter. I mostly get fireworks, and for the first two months or so, I got them every night. Until the power went out for a day here and I became a bit less obsessed, whew! ;P
great icon jilli - we have some of her CDs
wtg Dan!
tx dan
thanks, flosey
yvw Une!
What is Babble Expert? I've been playing for years now, and not sure I know what that is.
pl 6
Expert only works on a PC -- it puts everything you need on one page and has a box where if you type one word it goes to the lost, and if you type more than one it goes to the chat. It also has links to morewords and such -- great timesaver
goes to the list, that is
Wow. Where do we get that? Is that through Dr. God, or is that the thing that Lickety has through Firefox?

Flip flip hooray! (15 minutes late)
hi min!
I use the Opera browser, and have Babble, Morewords, etc, all open in different tabs at once - and the neat thing about it is that no matter which tab I'm on, if I hover my cursor over the Babble tab, it shows me a little babble grid thumbnail that I can check against. Love it. Don't think IE will do that.
Hello jilli, it's me, Laura. :o)
Hello jillibus! I see there is another big grid for today
Hi Laura, good to see you!

random thought: aussies on summer holidays during christmas/new year...great reason to immigrate; no work conflicts to interfere with festivities and general rabble-rousing!!
no don't be I was upset with myself for not proofing it first
yeah kate and no ice and snow to navigate
I should pick my own nits (left out an "a" in that last post)

hope one of the boys knows how to mix drinks!
which ice storm westie? there are so many ...
I know this was in the Worcester area of MA
there's a first rate bartender in the PB rbud
this winter?
got a tr8, suppose everyone else has it too
no haven't even looked for 8s thanks
it was sooooooo cold for soooooooo long this year, didn't think I'd ever thaw out.
and then we had the rainiest july on record
Hi everyone
ty for the 8 jilli
I see my husband's great great grandmother in the grid
12 days is a long time to be without power when it's -20 celcius/ wind chill -40
Triphemia..how's that for a name
yw chrissie -- hi dianne
do you see the madsonna in your morning cerealkl tooo?
Wow, west -- but it's quaintly pretty
dil's father brought a generator over so the pipes wouldn't freeze but they couldn't stay there
sounds like an awful disease
lol both ends of the spectrum
I sort of agree with kate
but his great great aunt's name was even better ..Freelove
Well, I like Euphemia too -- not quite such an awful disease?
We have a scorcher here today - about 95 degrees and around 75% humidity.
how did someone get named freelove way back when?
I don't know but I think it's really neat
they must have been pre-hippies
euphemia, yes never quite says what she means though
lol, kate!
pre hippies for the "stone-sage"...
Dianne it's the humidity that gets me every time
from
from the "stone-age"
we have 3 daughters and I always said I would name one of them after her..they're glad I didn't.
Me too
imagine going to school?
how do you explain that when you sign them up for school? they wouldn't believe it was an ancestral name.they'd asdsume it had to do with the circumstances of conception
lol I know so I didn't
I'll bet ol' freelove left you out of the will for not fulfilling your promise
nah she was gone before we ever came on the scene
now you must play this up to your full advantage.at every ooportunity, remind them that they could have been named freelove. you saved them from a life of misery and taunting and they must take wonderfulo care of you in your dotage
and the picture we have of her from the 1870's is a pip very stern, white hair, black bombazine dress
poor thing
ah...think i'm relate dto her. her pic is in my family albumn
that has to be one of my favorite words...dotage
she must have spread it around then
kind of warm and fuzzy , isn't it?
actually I believe she was a maiden lady
I'll bet she wouldn't tell anyone what her name was
what self-respecting man would have married freelove in the 1870's?
well it's better than Paidlove.
lol good one dianne
bet no one diped her pigtsails in the ink well
zing>>>>>>>>>>>>>> teehee dianne
I just wonder how her parents came up with that name . Could it have been an Indian name?
okay one more on his grandfather's side there was an uncle named Emerald
Oh my!
not much different than Breedlove...?
don't think it was dianne they were Irish
rbud - that's what you get from freelove....
gem names were common the, but mostly for women. think ruby, beryl etc.
I like Emerald, neat name. Uncle Em, Uncle Em!
my mom's name is Pearl.
that's a pretty name
So is my Mum rbud
I'm off to bed, 90 left for tomorrow, goodnight all
good night and stay sleeping flosey
hope so west
night, flosey! good progress!
fabulous, flosey -- I'm not even halfway and crashing
highly doubt it was indian. there were a lot of aspirayional names then too. patience, faith, charity, constance etc. probably meant "to love freely"; without restraint
I imagine that's what it was kate
they lived in China..
neat that our moms have the same name, anike! :)
New York
i'm a font of useless info that no one wants to hear, thanks westie
you must blow them away in trivial pursuit
china,ny south?
west, who lived in China?
I knew that would get your attention jilli..China, NY
can't stand trivial pursuit..too esoteric. prefer super quiz
it doesn't exist anymore upstate NY
ya got me there, west
Yes rbud - my mother is not keen on her name but she really suits it
probably near medina . on Erie canal by any chance?
but when our 6 year old granddaughter was staying over she saw the globe in my husband's office and wanted to know right away where China was
why, is she short and round like my mom, lol!?!?
not that far west kate but that's where our dear tangle friend lives
going to bing china, ny
She is shrinking (92 yo) and now stands at about 4'10"
good morning all
hello Cat
hello orange
I have nbt after all this time
oh, my, anike, my mom is about 4'10, also! but she's "only" 79 years old.
wtg wst :)
and yay, we4!!
thanks jilli
hello all. home again.
Mum started out at a mighty 5'2" (my height) but I tower over her now. Isn't that a coincidence that they are both so similar
hi rose home from the hospital?
whee, yay, g'rose is back!
yes, westy. let's just say pain and i are making our acquaintance again.
yes, quite the coincidence, I agree!
I'm still 5' 3½" -- no shrinkage
I'm sorry rose bet you're glad the surgery is over though
good to see you back rose
our daughter is about 6 feet tall, she really makes Granny look tiny!
very glad westy, and thanx for the welcome
My charming son who is 6'1" refers to me affectionately as shorty
girls are so tall now!
that's tall she must be gorgeous
mrp looks like she might be close to that
westy, she is. drop dead gorgeous, actually
I think mrp said she's 6'1"
a model if I ever saw one
Hello everyone.
I wonder if she ever did any modelling?
hi lyn
Hi Rose, how are you feeling? everything went as planned?
howdy, lynxxx!
rose did you have any trouble with your ankle on the cruise?
westy, just the usual pain, nothing too bad. and, yes, lyn, everything went as planned
have just woken from a 3 hour "nap"
hi lynxxx
back from fruitless search. who's your friend "tangle" westie?
Rose - Good, now feet up and let everyone wait on you as much as you can
my goodness we've been deluged with babblers while i was gone! hello all
* grin * that's my game plan, lyn
hi Kate
hi lynn
you've missed a very spirited discussion lynxxx
I'll scroll back
Couldn't see anything abnormal Kate - what was the topic?
among other things, westford's great great aunt. her name was freelove inthe 1870"
it'll be off the screen now...
I skimmed thru since the flip, must have missed it. Nice name
isn't it?
can't believe "lala" isn't a word, I think my kids live in lala land most of the time...
lokked for it too
Back again - computer froze for a while
computer gremlins are alive and kicking tonight
I've had a lot of odd lags and freezes here, too
the lags an freezes here have been in my lame brain
back too jumped off at the burp and only now getting back
all hail the volcano
okay scrolled back a little when we played Tangleword our favorite guy was Fireman and he lived in Medina
he may have moved to Michigan now
ok, can't stay awake -- nytol -- *poof*
nite Jilli, sweet dreams

g'nite westford,lynxxx
whoot!first run through, and only 66 to go.LOL
way to go grannyrose
thanx kate. not bad for someone drugged to the eyeballs, hey
Grannyrose, glad that you're back with us. I saw arth in the grid, but no arthrodesis.... How are you feeling?
hi haz, bit on the sore side, but drugs are wonderful things *grin*
Aren't they just? I'm glad the op is over, now comes the hard work of getting better.
into the mechanic for an overhaul granny?
hi haz
Hello TraderKate.
i know. and, strangely, for me, i almost welcome the fact that my mum is here.i just have to learn to relaxand let the chips fall where they may
You can get one of those long handle things for picking up the chips.
mums...help or hindrance?
It depends on the mother.
amen, haz
kate, have just had a triple arthrodesis on my left ankle, the surgery to repair a fracture last year didn't work as well as the surgeon wanted
ouch! are you ambulatory?
She's floating.
nope, non-weight bearing for 4 weeks, then a check x-ray to see if i can
no pressure on the ankle if you can just waft on the breeze
lol, haz, i'm only on my first bourbon for the night, floating comes later
Drink AND drugs. Tothink we thought of you as a role model! Enjoy the floating while you can.
so totally bedridden until then, or can you use crutches/cane to find the loo?
kate, in a wheelchair, and a frame for those awkward spots like getting into bed
guess you'll be babbling a lot to amuse yourself.
when i hadsurgerylastyear, they sent me home on crutches.....and i fell over the next day
frame's not so bad. nice and stable. can't have you falling over after your third bourbon
kate, i'm always babbling, justask hubby!!!
don't approve of crutches...don't trust 'em
so, can we expect to see you racing down the street soon...no speeding tickets, mind
if they're set properly to your height and arms length, they're a godsend....first 3 1/2 months of this year, I could not put an weight on my right foot, due to me having crushed my heel and all the incumbant trauma to the muscles and ligaments and tendons of my ankle, including my achilles tendon
maybe, have to get out of the house first tho'
oooohhhh, yuck, just. i think i will stop complaining right now!
sounds like it's been a long, painful haul 'til now. hopefully everything will be fully healed soon...want to see you dance a jig
I didn't find out about how to adjust the crutches until after the 3 1/2 months when I started physio and she showed me exactly how to adjust them
justmar -how on earth did you crush a heel?
sigh....I can walk now but it my foot and walking is nothing like it used to be :(
you'd think the provider of the walker would adjust it properly for the money they charge
I was on the 2nd day of a 2 week vacation, in winter, in Mexico, when someone flung me into the pool, unexpectedly and in landed on my my right foot
more physio? will it help?
it was a resort employee and so the resort paid for my doctor,s the cast and the crutches, but they never explained to me how to adjust them....until i started physio here at home
no more physio...just time and exercise (hopefully)
horrendous luck! whoever threw you in owes you a fully paid vacation when you are ready to go
well they did compensate me with some cash and a 2 week freebie, this winter, (airfare not included) :(
an employee? i'm shocked.
kinda long story kate but, a young kid ( I'm middle aged) and it was a dumb stupid accident
the worst part....losing total independance
I will never take walking for granted, again
but the point is...if your crutches are adjusted properly (they're very easy to adjust) they are great
evening all :))
still....
hiya mrP
Good evening mrpresident.
hello mrp
moonshine
I know kate but like I said it was an accident....glad to be walking again now
so how are you now justmar? all healed or wil you have ongoing problems?
healed enough to walk on but it will take a lot of time to hopefully be like it was before ty
guess crushed heal will never be quite right again. no boston marathon for you...
the bones are all healed but the tendons and ligaments take much longer esp at the ankle
nor ballroom dancing lol
hwave faith and patience justie. had knee surgery and it took about 5 years before i was totally back to normal. despaired of ever getting "it" back, but i did
good thing I'm not into high heels anymore, cause that's a no no and I'd have been crushed (all of me not just my heel) lol
you're dangerously close to going to the box for revealing agrid word just...careful
yeah kate thx...one thing that I do while babbling is roll my foot from heel to toe over an empty beer bottle...quite relaxing
meh don't care about PB
sensible shoes....yes. but now you get to wear snuggly slip0ers, even better
do you get to drink the beer first or is that hubby's job?
I got this incredible pair of flip flops at Costco...spongy sole and velvet cross strap...perfect...so went and got another pair for back up
this one looks half decent!!
hubby's job...I drink gin he drinks beer...a Heinikin too!
sounds lovely, but shouldn't you be wearing a full with good support?
I should finish up...due to Lickety...I only have 3 left
three????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????
lol yep
3 t's...it's always the t's or the r's
loverly lickety...guess you'll have fireworks in a minute
it has great arch support...I really lucked out
need t's too. probably can't help, but, which ones?
mrp's on the q.t.
sigh need 1 te5 and 2 th 5's
where are you located kate?
planning to join?
te5 duck pl, but vowels reversed
i'm in toronto, not sure if i'm staying...a time thing
time thing? the grid is up for 24 hours....
te5 t+ a sigh type wpord
I know TO well...whereabouts?
takes me forever... and chatting. have been staring at sdreen for days now
west end royal york/lakeshore at lake
side
te5 the duck plural
te5 coe udders
oh nice! have family in Bramptom and in Vaughn and formerly North York...Finch and Don Mills area
need the te right after the decade adjective
looking, may not have it
well that;s my last word needed...got the last 2 th's
is it a 4?
no...te 5/10 ...stupid me sigh
tired...
going to lickety brb
don't have it, sorry to raise your hopes...sometimes the one you miuss is the obvious one
thx anyways..
finally fireworks
doyou have prefix for four
???
well done, justie! and so tired too
ty tired too...we are nuts for watching the sun come up
family in vaughn... not in woodbridge are they?
Mar, what time is it by you?
not but also have family in Woodstock..(near London)
by me it's 5:30 am
been a vampire lately..am asleep before the rays are too strong..
me too
will be throwing in the towel soon
love the night's, the quiet, the peacefullness (peacefulness?)
cool Mar!! I love sunrise! From the comfort of my bed with a cuppa tea!
nice MrP!
know woodstock. go through there all the time
I like my coffee on the deck in summertime
it was horrible what happened to thta little girl, there, eh?
so sad
me too, but no deck. love the dawn chorus
talking tornado
no...the little girl who was abducted back in April...took many months to find her body
only saw the highlights of news, no details. only know a child died
yes I heard that...an 11 year old from the tornado but I meant the little girl from Woodstock
oh yes. her father was doing some sort of bike ride to raise awareness/ cash? couldn't read about it/watch on tv. know nothing about it except they were looking for sa woman
anyways, I must be off....hope you join up for the nominal one time fee of about 15$US...
no they have the 2 people ...man and woman in custody...
can';t bear all the bad news these days, it weighs too heavily on me so i avoid it as much as i can
the woman picked her up from school...yeah I understand but we've heard so much about it here;that I'm sure where you are it was non stop
anyways take care all...be well...see you at the flip tomorrow...poof
it was, and every time it came on i changed the channel. waych business news channel mostly anyway, so don't get that kind of reporting there
good night, justmar
good afternoon all
hi Sprite!
hi lyn :) *hug*
lyn, can I ask you, is there a special 'Australian Day' like there is July 4 for the US?
January 26 we (sort of) celebrate, certainly not to the extent the US does
am trying to collect some national days for the icon themes, on suggestion by jillibus. Days to keep year after year.
Nice suggestion
ah, I found something on wiki about it. It would be nice to have an Australian Day, wouldn't it? On the themes?
even though it seems to be a bit controversial?
I was trying to remember what 'white' anniversery it 'celebrated' originally. Yes it is/was controversial and rightly so too
I think I will make it a theme. The controversion should have its place on that day. I will copy some of the text and put it into the profile for that day. What do you think?
"the day commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788, the unfurling of the British flag there, and the proclamation of British sovereignty over the eastern seaboard of Australia"
I just read Wiki. I don't object quoting the controversial aspect either. It would acknowledge the original people
thank you. It will be an interesting day, I think :)
4th July is sort of the same thing too - celebrating a 'white' event
that is interesting, never realised that. I think that should be part of next year's theme as well then.
Well March 17th is really and truly a Green day!! lol
hi Soodle! Green as in Irish?
Hi there Sprite! Yup - March 17th is St Patricks Day. Green hair, green beer, green green green!
oh now I remember! WIll put it up with the other repeat-each-year themes.
Good woman yerself!!
hi sprite, hi soodlebum
Hi Trader
there, it's in the list now. We'll get this more consistent, we will :)
hello :)
hi TKate
Waitangi Day, New Zealand, February 6th. Speaking of NZ, hope Groovy's son is OK
Hi Liz
Hi Liz & Soodle
hey Liz! Any special Sark celebration days?
oh dear, just read your profile. When will this jump be in October? Do you have a date already?
We have Liberation Day on 10th May every year to celebrate the day the island was liberated from occupying forces at the end of WWII
Yes Sprite its on 12th October eek!
wonder why my icon has changed in the chog but not on my profile? Hmmm
hi all - just having a quick meander through the words
how scary and how brave of you, Liz
Is that Oscar? did he stand still enough for someone to draw him?
hi Kazz
very scary. not sure if I'll be brave! Probably not :)
how about canada day? formerly dominion day. just like our country , it is peaceful. not based on on the triumph of a bloody was or the subjugation of asn indigenous people ; mbut celebrates the peaceful transfer to full independence from mother britain. we are our own little united nations here and strive for amity through diversity.
LOL Lynxx not Os. He would never keep that still. Just a lovely lab :)
Kate - what a lovely description of your country.
And Liz - you must be bonkers. No way would I jump out of an aircraft. I have to be sedated just to get into one, never mind jumping out!!
hi Kazz!
so do I normally Soodle! Therein lies the fun LOL. I am trying not to think about it too much. Its all for a good cause. I intend to screw my eyes tight shut and scream loudly!
I think Canada Day is already in the themes, TKate. July 1st?
mumbling and not very lucid any more , but you get what i mean
yes, july 1, 1867
that is already part of the themes, but thank you. Ok all, themes updated again.
Well blow me down with a feather fellow babblers, when i looked to see who i shared a birthday with, i was overwelmed with choice from Jack Palance and George Kennedy to Cybil Shepherd but i chose the man himself
your jump is in there too, Liz... who knows, it may inspire some more sponsoring :)
Hi Liz I just read about your parachuite jump. Love to know how you do because I am 70 next year and thinking of celebrating it with a jump!!
wooot Kazz
I'll update you all afterwards assuming I'm still capable and not a gibbering wreck Deeha :)
wow Deeha, sounds adventurous. Please learn how to roll and fall beforehand? :)
I am good at that - after a few glasses of wine!!
hozabout greenland day? do they have a day since thy're still under dennamrk? know nothing about greenland except that my dad was in thule for a while in 60's
LOL Deeha!!!!
Go for it LIz - my hubby has jumped and he said it was wonderful but you dont get much time to think about the knees together bit as you land
that would be nice, do we have babblers from greenland?
where do you see who you share a birthday with, Kazz?
google, Soodle
june 21 is national greenland day
Thanks Kazzer :) I will most likely be unconscious by the time we land. I went on a scary tower ride thing whilst I was in Spain a few weeks ago just to see what 100 metres high felt like never mind 10,000 feet. I nearly blacked out!!!
i googled my birthday date -18th Feband added famous people - i think the search tag was famous people birthday 18th feb and then selected a link
You'll go nuts if you list 'days' other than Babblers countries. I've not seen any from Greenland
have no idea if there are any greenlanders here. just thought it was interesting..another innocuous country...
my hubby cant do heights but he said parachuting is completely differeny
Atalante spent quite some time living out in Greenland :)
there are several links in my profile too, Soodle, you might be able to use these to get to your own b'day
that is encouraging Kazzer. I'll hold onto that thought!
as for the icon not changing in the profile, I know I always have to force-refresh twice. Once in the window where I change the icon, and a second time in the My Account window.
however he did do a static line solo jump - if you are tandeming will the instructor have one of those fancy shoots which you can really slow down so that you can land on your feet?
haven't seen Ata in ages!
Hmmm. I share my birthday with Beyonce Knowles. Hmm
Sprite - Thanks, will try that. ata has been away in America for quite a while. She's home now though :)
Soodle - beyonce is on my radio right now lol
Yes Kazzer its a tandem jump
quite pleased today nbt already
Well - Sept 4th is her birthday Liz!!
that cannot be a real name
ok, to honour Ata then, I will add Greenland's national day
She'd like that Sprite :)
Sprite - maybe it would be easier to just do one day called "Your Country's National Day" ?
if you see what I mean....
it would, Liz, but I think this is more fun. If it will prove to be too much, we can change it again next year, ok?
I agree - wished I hadn;t typed that after I sent it LOL
Might give the rest of this grid a miss for tonight. Goodnite all, see you tomorrow
see ya lynxx
bye lyn, thanks for helping me think :)
lol Liz *hugs* How about a day for the unrepresented countries then?
Bye Lynn
:) All the so far unmentioned countries :) I could pick Jordan after my trip across the desert last year :)
I would like that! Everybody who has a country he or she wants to be represented in the list, please let me know, with the reason and the date.
What would be a good day for a general National Day icon day?
how about the country i wlould most like to visit but, alas, will never see day?
is a good one
Not sure there would be a good date for that Sprite :) Could be anytime!
Trader where is that?
in my mind
io, charon
oct 17th it will be, TKate
you are right, Liz, I will just pick one. Let me see.
would very much like to see egypt...
what will be oct 17
November 10th? Probably not a national day anywhere, so no conflicts, and it has a nice look/ring
your request for a theme, TKate. Have you checked out my profile already? It holds the icon themes.
something about icons/themes.. only for pros
lol it is also Forget Me Not Day. Not bad for a general national day, wouldn't you say?
as a nonmember you can still enjoy all the themes and write-ups. But if you will keep on playing, you might consider paying the one-time-only fee and become a member for life.
Why are you so sure you will never get to Egypt, Kate?
Forget me not day! Great choice Sprite
as a member you can have your own icons, profile stories and of course all the goodies of prodom: the stats etc.
time/ money, but mostly don't want to be kidnapped/blown up...have terrible luck that way.
Could anybody help me with the AT 7 & 8 please
thanks Liz, isn't chance a wonderful thing :)
soodle, someone who's good at sports
Thanks Une!!
yw :-)
I have to go now. Lovely to chat *waves*
hi and bye, liz
bye liz - good luck with the jump training
Bye Liz
hi Une!
and bye Liz, I put the general day up in themes, thanks :)
bye liz
hey sprite :-)
hi une
morning, kate
bed time for bonzo...practically snoring
night bonzo
sleep tight :-)
Nite Kate. Sleep well
ty trying to get just a few more words before i turn in but will likely just fade away
I think I will go hunt for the other half of the words today, lol. Got lost in making new themes. But I do think it is making the icon list more interesting this way.
morning all
hi Wolvie :)
says something when you see 279 words and think - oh small grid today. ;-0
lolllllll it certainly does, you addict you!
hey - take it easy on me - I am just getting my facebook up to speed, looking for some games scrab mentioned lol
uhoh, those are time consumers too, grin. Enjoy!
we'll see - I have walked away from a few of these without finishing. :-)
good job, it is always nice to know one can do that.
hey - hogans hero's stuff is in this grid
it is :) Also 2 words you don't want to consider when you are pregnant, lol.
Oh! rofl
ty for those
you're very welcome :)
I found one 8 so far - a ta, what do the others start with?
I have the plural of the word I wouldn't want to hear when pregnant. And I have the plural sportsman.
oh duh - lol - ty. I will look for the sportsman. :-)
hehehe babble blindness is never something to be ashamed of.
:-)
ah thank you, I found the ta8!
good thing for dessert. :-)
lol yes, and it goes well with the last 8. I found pa8.
oh good, ty sprite - i will look for it
got it - ty again - 8's done
wtg!
I am baffled over the reference to words you wouldn't want to hear when your pregnant....
hi soodle
lol it was a vague clue, I admit. Let's say it would make you wish to have 6 arms, among other things.
there's more of them to love
Hiya Wolvie- and Sprite.... your bafflilng me even more now :}
at least. :-)
the midwife might say: have you thought about nameS?
rofl
Doh!! the penny's just dropped! Thanks
lol :D
good afternoon everyone
hi jac
Wolvie and I seem to share a brainwave... somehow we always get eachother's cluus.
morning jac
*clues. Hi jacq!
heya Wolvie, did you finish yesterdays grid?
ehay sprite and soodle
someone has to do it, sprite. ;-)
hello kate
yes jac, I did
morning!
Hiya Jac
hi evan
well done you!! i gave up with 83 to go
heya evan
oh no! well, it was a looonnnggg grid - my eyes were crossing at the end - went to the list with 60 left - would not have finished else
it was long, but not unpleasant
i'm off to bedfordshire, am badly wilted. regeneration compartment looks inviting
not unpleasant for the words in it, just long. ;-)
bye trader
** poof **
bye Kate
hi nutty! Bye TKate.
yesterday's was really friendly, but huge.
does anyone have the ha 6/7 combo after the ha for stop
haven't looked at the h's yet - sorry
form of to have + rent, and plural
there's my sprite!
:)
ty sprite
no wonder i didnt get it -its revolting
see? Right away :D
you could even say it was past tense for rented. ;-)
indeed
as a clue, I mean. ;-)
that s a good clue wolvie
;-) kazzer - now you've set me onto the h's.
finally nearing the end... I spent more time on the icon list than on the grid, almost, grin
wtg sprite!
argh... one word I never seem able to spot... that eastern one
uh oh - i don't know which one you mean! I am in trouble now. ;-)
lol... think agatha christie and the .... express
oh. duh. again. ty
I didn't even look to the o's, lol
somehow I cannot spot that one. Is always on of my last finds, unless it is clued earlier
I have a few words like that too.
brb - going for more java
asea is one too, and ocean.
bfn Wolvie!
Good morning/day to my Babble buddies!
hi Scrabs! How are you doing? Counting down?
good morning Scrabbler
back - with java. ;-)
hi scrab
yes sprite - those are two that i always miss
hi mag
hi Magyk, that is one lovely icon!
hello wolvie!
21 working days left; last day is 5 weeks from Monday.
yes that is a great icon mag
thank you Sprite and hello to you also. It is one of my favorites. :)
let me check if we have it right in the icon list, Scrabs!
go scrab go!!
scrab - I finished filling in my facebook stuff, looking for those games now. :-)
And we need to find one another by our civilian names too!
sept 28 is the one in the list, as your Day of Freedom. Is that correct?
Yes, I will leave at 7:30 pm that night and be done, never to walk back into that place!
oh yes - I can type mine out here if you like
sept 28th will be fireworks for sure!
wonderful! I will leave it on the 28th then. Won't that D.Head let you off a day earlier, because it is a Monday and all?
does babble have a facebook page?
Yes Wolvie
not a page, but a babble group at least
(and hi all)
hi sally
cool - I will look for it
Current dispute is about earned PTO (personal time off)--what to do with my time earned from working this current quarter.
hello Sally and perhaps I'm interrupting (I do apologize) but I'm confused. Sept 28?
I think if we get any more big grids, my husband will cite Babble in the divorce petition :-)
hi Sally
There are 2 Babble groups on FB--Babble Lovers, I think, and Babble Worldwide--somethings similar to those
roflol Sally!
Magyk--I will be freed from boss from hell, Richard Head. That is my last day at that job.
Really scrabbler? I only found Babble Fans. Will go and look.
Hi Sally.
Babblers Worldwide, I believe
are you on those as a friend scrab?
I cannot remember the exact names, Sally
One or both, Wolvie
i will friend the sites, and type in my babble screen name
Well Scrab, if I were close to you I would bake you biggest and most delicious cake I know to make. Better than sex cake and I would top it with as many candles/sparklers as I could for the celebration.
yayyyyy Magyk! We will have a special icon theme for Scrabs on that day, so if you feel like it, please make her an icon cake :)
I suspect that co-workers will plan something like that. They will be sad about my departure but I will be excited!
smarvelous!!
Co-workers are pondering departing too now that I have chosen to escape.
they will miss you, but you won't miss the daily pains-in-the-bottom
Yes, just found Babblers Worldwide, which seems to be more active than Babble Fans. Will go and join.
The 4 bullies are just demoralizing the office.
i dont underatand face book i am a bit rubbish at logging on and looking for stuff
lol, cannot help but gloat a bit when thinking they may find themselves left without any good personel :D
that is too bad for the remaining folks scrab - how many ci-workers can join you?
I found some facebook babble pages and joined - my real name shows up there now. along with raleigh nc
if you ever have any questions Kazzer I am more than willing to help. :)
I am very cautious on FB--it is an enormous sub-culture but I am there to play games and communicate with friends.
co -workers. le sigh
The new practice is 31 miles away from the current one--much closer to my home.
I tried FB but stopped using it, it was too time consuming for me.
I'm off folks. BBL.
i might have another go but my problem is that although i love babble i really cant be bothered with all the typing - i spend all day typing away at a pc and most of the time dont really feel like doing more
bye for now, Soodle :)
bye soodle
Sprite, I set my profile very carefully to avoid the fluff e-mails/notifications
Bye Soodle
I joined FB because peeps put photos on there which I can't see unless I'm a member :-(
Everything happens for a reason Scrab. This new job will save you money on gas and time with which you can try a variety of new and wonderful things. It's said there is a time for every season....
fireflies! Must be off too, thanks all for the great company.
i use flickr for photos - hubby pays for us to be pro on there
congrats sprity
True, Magyk, and I am so blessed, beyond belief, that I have this opportunity.
Bye Sprite
Coffee refill anyone?
I'm just waiting for my season! :) to go back to school and find a full time job. The search is never ending.
Yes please Scrab...
yes please scrab
sounds like a good idea scrabs i shall go and get a nice big one from the kitchen - its about lunch time now
wtg sprite!!
bye sprite
bye sprite
Here is coffee for all...
ty ty - first dibs on the half and half. ;-)
Milk, no sugar for me please.
**putting Half & Half on shopping list**
ty scrabs - i will have a sausage roll with mine
lol scrab - ty
Oops, Kazzer, my house is vegetarian
tofu roll then. :-)
never mind i'll change to a cheese sarnie and no sugar
sounds good
Tofu burgers for lunch!
And I can grill eggplant + zucchini + sweet potatoes!
no thank you - allergic to soya protein
I was thinking fried rice and egg rolls!
one of my fav things to have is a spicy tofu with broccoli - good stuff
scrab - i make grilled ratatouille quite often
Oh, no, Kazzer. Cow milk protein too?
oh no kazz - that is too bad
no dairy is fine - but no soya which is a pain cos i have to read everything
I did that a few nights ago, Wolvie. I had some leftovers on foil on the grill--raccoon stole it and I found foil in woods yesterday. Well-fed raccoon!
try grilling sliced green tomatoes, then hitting them with just a touch of sherry or banyuls vinegar. Yum
its amazing how much veg protein there is in stuff
Food allergies are not only dangerous but also inconvenient.
I don't use foil - I have found the nirvana of grill baskets
must go rescue lunch from hubby
I have a grill basket too, but nephew that lives with me (21, in college) was using part of grill for his beef burgers
good morning - before breakfast time here, but I love talking about grilled veggies!
i told him to keep his meat away from my veggies
this is the one i use: http://www.williams-sonoma.com/product s/8578049/index.cfm?pkey=coutdoor%2Dgr illing&cm%5Fsrc=hero
i have several baskets, but this is the best i have found - i can get really small pieces in it without losing them
scrabbler, your raccoon has a partner - we found a squirrel sitting on a tree limb eating a Taco Bell burrito!
LOL scrab - never the twain shall meAt. ;-)
hi jbv
How cute, JBV, and good morning to you and hubby.
you are kidding jb - did you get a pic?
ha 6,21 clue please
I make a "ratatouille" on the stove - egglplant, zucchini, and whatever else is around, with tomato sauce - dont' know what it's called - but it's delish - and needs less oil
Hi Merk
no, sorry, no pics - the rascal was too quick
you could say ..rented the apt merk - and good morning
good morning ... searching
yes jbv - i've done that as well. my fav's right now are on the grill or an oven roasted version
That's what I did the other night, JBV. I grilled eggplant, zucchini + tomatoes, then poured sauce in the dish.
oven roasted, too - but not in summer! we are having a heat wave right now
pl that ha 6 for a 7 merk
I know jb - that's why I started to grill it. :-)
I still haven't found the 6.
Ah, got it. New word to me.
ty
okay - ha 6 - own plus you .. oh good - it was for me too
hi all
These longish grids this week are getting to me. I'm way too busy for them ... wedding this afternoon ... whole week has been like that ... but I'm addicted. Better than other addiction, I tell myself.
hi ursh
Hi Ursh
it's true merk. good time at the wedding today tho I'd bet. :-)
any clues
hi ursh and merk
I hope. Naturally I can't talk my hubby into going, so I'm going with a friend who is the organist.
hi jbv
any clues ursh? hmm - pa 8 - tastes good - unusual spelling, ta 8 - your pa 8 would be useful for this
have a good time merk
tr 8 - what a pregnant woman would not want to hear
have a good time merk
and the other 8 is a sportsman
a carriage is in the grid
Any advice on this situation? My last day of work = Sept 28th and I will have earned PTO (personal time off) from working May-June-July-August (that is how we calculate PTO), so do I get to use some or all with my remaining month of work even those I am not working the entire last quarter of the year.
no
you should at least claim it, scrab, and negotiate down, you may get partial
Is that the answer to my question, Ursh?
you should take it before you start your new job while you are still in your old job
u earned it
IMHO
Hi Jean!
yes
hi jean
hi wolvie, scrabs, everyone
Yes, I feel that I earned it and thus I can use it.

His pain is much improved. He will be allowed to bear wt in 4 wks. he will have a long road of PT.

Hi Phaeton
Hello phaeton.
hello Phaeton, How are you?
hi phaeton
I'm doing ok
...almost halfway....
Go Scrabbler, I am not quite there...

It should be easier than it is, with this large of a grid
Yikes, BRB, coffee hit bladder
Firewiggles. Must go. Bye all. And have a nice party in the pb when you greet ph7 :-)
it started out great...grinding to a halt
WTG Sally!
Bye Sally.
Oh sally Congrats and thanks! Oop.
First time I remember that word in the grid.
crap! on my way!
Yippee Sally!
congrats, sally
My fav word today was the lovely high-scoring wa5/28. Very satisfying to find that one.
finally...nbt! (munching on goodies in pb)
hello all!
Oooh, TY, Sally! I was wondering if we were going to use that tile at all today
Hello TO!
Hi Owl!
hi Scrabbler and annie and who ever else is here
Hi Hazel!
hi Owl
Hi Owl!
Hi boo!
Hi Boobear
hi boo
good morning Boo! and Tempe owl. How are you both?
Finally past halfway, so at 140/139 I shall take a break!
good and you
Hello Scrabbler - French rabbit is in the grid.
later, scrablbler
i am fine
i don't know any french rabbits
TO I think your icon is very funny!
phae, what you create when you sit down and not out
la5/12 - la plus what some people use to keep cloth together before sewing.
ty annie
Haz said the s- word!
humming bird hanging around my window!
I know. I'll need to lie down for a while to recover.
Just as long as you don't let sleep knit up your ravelled sleeve of care. I assume that's just as bad as sewing.
Yes, I found la5 early on! I have a poster in my bunny room, labeled La5, with photos of various rabbit breeds
i saw a hummer yesterday, phaeton--I hear them first
I can cope with knitting up sleeves, it's the thought of sewing them that would keep me awake at night.
I had a hummingbird yesterday, too. =) I have to replace the nectar in the feeder, though.
hello all, thought I had the pa8 but only have pa7
pa8 re sounds made against the pa6. (Make pa6 into an adj and then pl)
we have a red truck and they are always looking there for food
brb
Hummingbirds sound so exotic.
meant to say "pa8 ARE sounds..."
thanks Vicuna
Well, that's the magic of hummingbirds - they are exotic even when you see them all the time!
You dont have hummers where you are Haz? they look a bit like little flying reptiles up close...
clue for the second te 5/10 at the top
No, no hummingbirds here at all.
he
I had no idea. I am a bit ignorant about the UK. Only been through the airport there, sooo.
We tend to have less exotic and colourful birds than other parts of the world.
But you have charming and quite intricate gardens.
And you have Paddington Bear, which makes up for many birds.
I dunno, Haz. Ata had a picture of a green woodpecker that looked awfully exotic to me.
Yes, this is true.
We have a lot of exotic birds, but also Palmetto bugs which are giant cockroaches.
We have no green birds at all where I am!
Oh theres a little dark grape wine in the grid.
You'll not see a green woodpecker every day - our normal birds like sparrows etc seem a little dull in comparison to hummingbirds.
I have not seen any hummers for a long long time, but we do have a lot of ibis and such...Green woodpeckers sound really neat.
Let's see... We have cardinals (red), goldfinches (yellow - much yellower than yours), bluejays (blue)... and lots of sparrows and little dull birds.
But most people don't seem to remember how exotically lovely blue jays are, because they're so common and squawky.
I suppose if we didn't have dull birds, the fancy ones wouldn't look so good in comparison.
I swear last year there was a cormorant that was living in a lake, which was very bizarre, wish I had gotten a photo, it was probably something else...
I love cormorants. I think they are fine living inland.
fla is great for bird watching. love those egrets
l
NAme that Proper Noun: County in Northern Ireland.
I'm sitting in it - I'll see who el4/4 can get it.
lol
me me I can but i am at an unfair advantage :)
FM!
I must admit, I hadn't seen it until you said.
hey fm!
Hello FM!
Vi! hi there idd you have a good vacation?
AFternoon Haz :)
Yes we did, thanks!
Where were you?
I think she means you Vi.
I do.
We went to Colorado - the Rocky Mountains. There was a family reunion, and then we stayed on a little longer to do our own stuff.
(Sorry for the delay. I was administering ear care to TOG-boy. =P )
Did the twins abseil down the Rocky Mountains? Good training for window cleaning, if so.
Poor TOG boy.
There were lots of firsts for the kids: seeing loads of new relatives, horse-back riding, archery, various wildlife, hail, proper mountains... but no abseiling!
Sounds great Vi, the vacation that is not the porley ear.
There's always next year. It sounds action-packed.
Well, both kids got "hot tub rash" from one place we stayed, and shortly upon our return TOG-boy got "swimmer's ear."
ack, sorry re typo, you kno what I mean :) Im no good when try ing to find words and chat at the same time.
Hi everyone any clues for the ha6 and ha7
So, any news on your front, FM?
ha6 and ha7 - three letters for possession, three letters for 'to allow' or to rent and then plural.
Nto wanting to tempt fate but mid Sept all should be signed and sealed and done and moved and over. Sorry Norma not reached the h's yet.
ha6 - Oh, forget it, Haz wins again. =)
Back in a couple of minutes, have to look something up. (Over to you, VI!)
Phew, knock on wood and all that superstitious stuff - sounds good!
ha 6 sounds like your mini me haz
Good one, TO!
lol good clue TO :)
Thanks all .... lol
i am so out of practice at this game you would think wa 8 would jump right out at me
(Looks for wa8, which obviously hasn't jumped out at me!)
ah that will be the 1 x w I am missing *stares at grid*
wait... I'm not missing any w's...
There is no wa8!
TO, what are you trying to do to us?
She said she was out of practice LOL
I guess so! =D
*goes back into log to check * around 0900
ok: wa5/28 sorry. but pa 8
Nope def no wa8 , just had a quick look at lickety.
Returns to the t's and the hunt is back on.
TO was just sowing confusion!
vi did i st5 your thunder? ;)
If you did you're welcome to it. Who needs Thunder anyway? lol
But you have to take the lightning with it.
i have had my share of lightning since i returned to babble
is annie here?
Oh dear. =P
You rang?
haven't seen her today TO but then han't been around too long.
i notice a fair number of new babblers
(Psst, don't look now, FM, but...)
hey annie! long time no see. or hear.
Hi FM!
LOL and as if by magic, there she is :)
I went up to CT for grandson's birthday (11) and Bobby was having such a grand time I stayed on..came home yesterday
How nice!
Lovely.
FM, Did you buy a new place?
And back.
(Passes Haz the tray of cucumber sandwiches.)
No crusts, I hope?
Im going to be renting for 6 months or so whilst I look for one Annie, and will be nearer to my Mum during that time.
*shocked* Haz! You insult me!
she baked the bread herself
and I've just make some tea, starts to pour for everyone.
You're right, I shouldn't even have considered the notion.
AND I baked it without crusts! (I'm magic.)
FM, Sounds like you are starting a new chapter..good wishes in all that you do.
They're selling crustless bread these days.
any ph words besides ph4/6?
*helps myself to a crustless cumcumber sandwich*
ph7 - think of a carriage/babbler
I was surprised to see thatyou can buycrustless bread in the supoermarket - all be it the awful pre packaged and already sliced type.
Thanks Annie :)
They're selling fabric-less bathing suits these days, too.
Yes, no crusts, no mess, no taste.
that makes two babblers in today's grid ! :)
Thanks for the ph7.
ph7 is sitting in the PB all day eating all the goodies
LOL Vi
I'm in the grid
ALL DAY?
It's ph7 herself, in the (virtual) flesh!
It's a pity it isn't clue Friday, ph7 could post a picture of herself and an arrow pointing.
and still in her jammies cuz i got an upset tummy from all those goodies
I'm shocked. You're not in your twinset and pearls, ready for cucumber sandwiches and tea?
ii woke up with one today.
yuck
i got mine after breakfast
(Drapes an embroidered tablecloth over Ph7's head, to hide her from the guests.)
no cake or scones for ph7 then, tsk!
Is the stomach pump standing by if ph7's tummy doesn't resolve itself soon?
(i can't see the grid)
traveling an dining out all week then come home and pbj makes me sick
Do you mind Vi it took me hours to embroider that and the matching napkins!
(Arranges the eyelets of the embroidery so Ph7 can peek out.)
took some tums...hope that resolves it
Yes, FM used my book for guidance.
pbj? What's that, TO?
Peanut butter and jelly?
peanutbutter and jelly
peanut butter & jelly. perfect foil for all the gourmet seafood i ate
whew! now i can see the light of the day
No wonder you're sick. Now if you'd eat Marmite instead...
it seems my sotmach has gone upscale. maybe it want to be waited on now at all times
Bread and water for you this weekend.
aarrgghh! There's a matey in the grid
*severely* And a plain, unembroidered tablecloth, too!
hmm getting the red bar of doom back in a mo after I have kicked something.
Hey! who took my embroidered tablecloth?
now i'm just plainphae
It wasn't yours, Ph7! It was merely being le4 to you to keep you decent.
so...did i get decent?
clue for the first pl6?
need help with ha 6/21 oand ha 7/32, between stops and despise
pl6/27 - is that the one you're looking for?
Begins like a deadly disease then changes direction towards VP Gore.
wolvie gave a good clue earlier for the ha's - been rented in the past or a rather yuckie type of cold meat
ha6/21 - TO clued it as "sounds like Haz's mini-me"
the yuckie cold meat was mine
m mini almond cakes with raspberry sauce. is that acceptable for tea or must all be finger foods?
good morning!
Sounds lovely, TO.
It's okay, TO, you'll find a plate, a napkin and a pastry fork will be useful.
Good morning JenMO.
jaques pepin. only take 16 min to bake
And the napkins are all hand-embroidered, don't forget!
Hello, JenMO.
Every stitch lovingly done.
i can't come to tea if i take milk in my tea isn't that a faux pas?
No, that's quite acceptable.
Unless you're wanting to put milk in a fruit tea, that's a bit not the done thing.
Milk in tea is fine, dear.
Thanks Kazzer, Wolvie, Vicuna and TO. It was the perfectd clue. and I have firewors
Hi to my fellow babblers! How is everyone doing today
As long as the milk is poured from a jug.
there is no such thing as fruit tea. unless you mean fruit flavored infused tea?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
Yay for inge! Hello, Minveryork!
Congratulations inge, hello Minver.
hi min and yay inge!
Fruit flavoured infused tea, you have it, TO.
i like apricot in fused tea.
Me too, TO.
at least the one that barney's sells. is barney's still in business? the stores here closed.
Congratulations inge on your fireworks!Good for you\
Cryslal Light puts out several fruit flavorired teas
FM must be doing a lot of kicking. She's been gone ages.
Sitting with an ice pack on her toes, perhaps.
A distinct possibility.
we can have lemon curd ta8/40. on lovely china pl6
just don't ra6 your cups ladies
My mouth is starting to water.
Sorry whilst kicking I saw Smokey and the Bandit is on TV and was just away down memory lane to when the movie first came out.
a firend dated one of those ta8 from that movie
Sorry, stomach took a turn...ty haz for the pl6/27 and welcome to the PB!
I don't think I've ever seen it. Another experience I've missed.
Wow, TO, you're on a roll!
well it is true
Are there plenty of ta8 to go round or must we consider having to ra6/18 them?
haz: you'll be happy that we cut the cord if you do. burt reynolds dom delouise
only if ph8 is around
Burt Reynolds in his facially hirsute phase?
i mean ph7 sorry
you trying to confuse us again TO?
who me?
haz it was the late seventies . EVERYONE was in a hirsute phase.
hi all
ooo we talking about Burt Reynolds?
I know. I think global warming's had an effect on hair growth.
Hello, jmc.
hi je
I never forgave him for dumping Dinah Shore
1977 and I must ahve been about 17
we are coming out of the anti 70's. shaved heads are waning.
I wanted the Transam
ooh speaking of hot cars i saw the new camaro on the road yesterday!
There's a definite 70's fashion vibe coming back in, I'm sorry to say.
hello all, help with en7 pls
It's pretty depressing when you see fashion mistakes coming back again.
hi peri!
I was unfashionable in the 70's and I'll be proudly out of fashion again if it all comes back in. =P
hi all. interesting chat here
Interesting Vi as we are having an 80's one here including all the music too. Could do w/o all the shoulder pads this time.
en7 - e plus the people who populate a country.
en7 - e + country
Hello Dorens.
Hi peri and Dorens
thanks Haz
You're welcome.
hi doren!
Eeek, shoulder pads!
Truth be told, I was out of fashion in the 80's, too...
hi owl
and big big hair
They always claimed that shoulder pads balanced the hips. I'm going to end up looking enormous.
oh and hi haz and fm and everyone else... vicuna, my daughter had such disdain for my shoulder pads
I reckon the less fashionable you are, the less you have to regret.
LOL Haz!!!
thanks Vi
I was fashionable in the early 70s as a hippy
Hello, Doren!
well then haz i need some extremely large shoulder pads these days
hippiness was big time fashion, not anti fashion
I ripped all my shoulder pads out
Maybe we're all a bit more discriminating these days and will refuse to be bullied into things we don't want to wear.
damn haz vicuna has my book!
Back shortly!
i definitely stopped following fashion years ago... and my daughter works at DKNY (!)
good move jmc
I went to a costume party where you were suppose to wear clothes from the 50-60-70 and I wore stuff from my closet and won a prize
Perhaps Babblers are in general a more discriminating bunch, but I don't hold out much hope for the general population.
It saved most of the jackets for another year or two of wear
sniff sniff! (a hint of elitism here, vicuna?)
no one has ever accused me of be discriminating! lol
i always wear what i fee like even to work but i must admit to looking at the latest colour for the season - mainly to avoid though
i don'lt know... i think fashion is fun. doesn't anyone else?
Actually it is probably because we can babble in whatever garb we like and get away with it :)
I think it is fun but it doesn't mean I wear it!
Well, I didn't say I really believed that, I was just conceding the possibility to Haz.
i gave my daughter a sheepskin coat and other things that used to fit me in the 70's and now she keeps wanting me to look in my closet and find more, more, more
I still have my husbands alpaca coat
clue for sl 4/5
I think it's a lot of fun to dress in a way I like - but that seldom has much to do with what's "in."
to smack someone boo
and everything old is new again...alpaca coats are wonderful. mom left me oe but too large, i do regret i donated it
ty
yw
and a jean jacket with an orca embroidered on it
oh i see, vi, yes it sounds somewhat less damning when i look at what she said... i take it back (but still cling to a certain amount of elitism myself, regrettably can't shake it all off)
i don't think jean jackets ever really went out of style jm. at least not with the young
sl4/5s boo with a tuna
i love looking but built like an ocean liner none of it fits and however designs clothes for evans (fat ladies shop in UK) aught to be made to eat 63 million donuts and it under 5ft or over 6ft be made to be about 5ft 4 and then design clothes cos they are bloody awful this year
lol, Kazzer!
sorry for the rant but t shirts that have large baggy bits over the hips of large ladies is just wrong
I shop at the fat girls boutique too but ahem in the regular stores the clothes make me look like someone's grandmother and in the boutique most of them make me look like Queen Latifa or a whore
Kazzer goes to PB for her ra4! lol
it is a real problem if you are out of tolerance, shall we say. i am too short to grab stuff off the rack and allof the petite stuff looks like they were designed for the garanimals line or for great grandmom
queen latifah looks pretty good
its a hard life for a middle class older chubbette
je well said!
oops off i go with my stash of donuts and cola
well you'd look good too if they lifted your assets
and a short middle class older chubbette has it even worse!
can anyone plz clue me the mi5/14? Just can't see it at all.
yeah Queen Latifah is not quite the thing for a middle aged white lady
Oh jmc and Kazzer I can relate. Must get some more tea before I start work in half an hour, will be in and out of babble.
mi5/14 is jollity
oh i don't know, je, it's all about the attitude ;D
word for joy and happiness
Bye-ish, then, FM!
oo look at that -- there is a grid to the left of the chog! maybe I should do something with it.;-)
ah yes!!! Thanks I see it now.
i am down to 30 now so i will be popping in and out as its nearly tea time
Oof, still have 90 to go, and these words aren't finding themselves any more.

How do u all do it??? I just can never get more than about half!! Congrats to all!
hi rhonda
it takes practice everyday to learn the nack of it
"nack" ???? or the words
the nack and words
I actually am very good at scrabble, upwords and crosswords but this has me totally beat up!
I have found daily sacrifices of candy wrappers to the Enable gods helps
yes i understand
You'll get the knack by and by
I don't doubt it!!
hi Erda
Hi Wolvie
Do you use Lickety's list, Rhondabe?
lickety and friends get me through from time to time
Sorry; Phone call. And DH has tripped over the cord for the cordless and had to go talk to the wall phone. YAY for Kazz! (unfortunately it looks like she'a alread ygone)
good morning everyone
okay I updated my icon to today's theme
hi flosey
Hello, flosey
hi flosey
hi flosey
oops. ;-)
lol wolvie, made me feel very welcome!
:-)
jmc, who is it in your icon?
looks like could be Liberace?
help with the en 7 / 28 please
it is liberace indeed
e + word for country where we live
e + one n*****, under god, indivisible ..
e plus another name for country
ah, much better clue BR, as always
we share a birthday and I must say the resemblance is uncanny
i only see flames for jm's icon
ty BR
jmc, my mother would never miss his show, she loved him
you give excellent clues, flosey
Wolvie, if you click on it you'll see him
thank you BR
is liberace the new cabana boy?
well thank you BR
nope - still see flames. :-)
hi wvtech
teach! sorry
then I think you'll have to refresh
okay
open the icon, right click, select reload or refresh as the case may be
refreshing did the trick
hello br
good day, TO
good pic of liberace, no?
yepper!
it is him indeed jmc
sorry to have walked away but sonny boy walked in the front door
*looks excited* he moves back out on Tuesday!

he was indeed quite an entertainer
good morning
hi harp
hi harp
hello harp
HIIIIIII!
hi harp
hi ata long time no see!!
hi ata
Ata!
Hi Ata
You got back?
I knew that would draw you out, Haz :)
hi haz
back, slept most of the day so far lol
How did you know I was here? Nice to see you again.
Hobbit is just ecstatic
well, I checked to see if you or FM were online. I figured you'd be lurking :P
Ah! We wondered if she would (a) go frantic or (b) ignore you. I never favoured the ignoring option.
I never log off, so appearances can be deceptive.
I know, I know .. I just thought you might be there ... telepathy or something!
Welcome back Ata :-)
Hello Wolvie and everyone el4/4
absolutely frantic. whimpers, wiggles, flings, more flings
hey zoom
I waved to you as we flew over NI yesterday
got my birthday icon
Hello Wolvie :-)
I had an inkling you might be home, Lizsark mentioned it earlier.
she always knows
I meant to send you adn FM and lori adn tiff an email earlier today, but I fell asleep before I could put plan into action
is that spike lee?
We'll forgive you.
much jet lag coupled with tiredness from looking after a Very Ill Cat for a week
Is the Very Ill Cat any better?
a bit ... one of Ayla's cat, we took her to the vets cos she was losing weight and not eating, and she was diagnosed with acute renal failure and rushed into hospital
she's now stable, if still Very Ill
What age is she?
6! so sad
Goodness, that's not old.
she's going to be on subQ fluids and stuff for the rest of her life, we think. However long that may be.
*lurking* dealing with a cat with renal issues right now. :(
awwww *sympathy*
hi ciocia - not fun
Hi all. No. Never thought I would be giving IV fluids to a ct.
how's La Spangletta?
They're able to do so much more than they used to, but even so, it's not nice for anyone.
sounds familiar, Judy!
La Spangletta is fine - far too interested in wasps for my liking, but it's that time of year.
yup Spike Lee is exactly four years older than i!
wasps! how daring!
She'll regret it if she gets stung. Wasp stings are sore!
they are! silly dog!
IV fluids? a friend of mine went thru that - but she did it at the vets since she part times as a vet tech. :-)
lucky her, Wolvie. I took Jasper to the vet 3 days in a row for mega fluids but now am administering them myself 3 times a week
I had to do that for my car when her jaw got broken by a car
how long have you been doing it for for, Judy?
not really myself; need help to do it
not fun judy, I know. hope it gets better
just two weeks, Ata. we go back to the vet on Monday night. I was hoping we could go down to twice a week . . .
I'm constantly amazed at what people are prepared to do for th5/12 pets.
they're my "kids" Haz
what I wasnt willing to go was pay $300 a night so the vet could do it
sounds *very* familiar! Jinx has to have hers for another 2 weeks before she goes back for a check-up. She has 50ml every day
I know, that's why people are prepared to do it, I suppose.
Yep, jmc, going to the vet for that kind of stuff is very expensive
OMG Ata. Every day!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd freak
haz, you have nooo idea. I don't even want to add up the cost of surgeries and procedures over the years
when she was hit by a car the neighbors ver sweetly took her to the very expensive local vet I never use
oh my gosh ata
yep!!! when we took her in first, her creatinine was at 9 and her BUN at *115*!!
hey jm - at least they took her. :-)
so I picked her up, paid the bill and l kept her on my bed all night
wolvie I was serious -- I thought it was sweeet
I'm married to a vet, Wolvie, so I do have an idea. He specialises in cattle but we have a thriving small animal practice as well - however those prices are incredible.
oh - sorry jm. :-)
oh - sorry yet again haz.
but I couldn't afford it
not my day
I bet cattle with kidney failure just get - um -
No need for sorry.
lol Motrin is in the grid
lol wolvie {{{hugs}}}
thank goodness for Motrin
They don't get IV fluids!
didn't think so!
help with the O pls?
Leave it out, jmc

*serves sushi to celebrate* wasabi?
*gasp*!
cleaning? what's that?
sure, and some pickled ginger. ;-)
I know. Probably a shock for you, all jet-lagged and everything.
of course pickled ginger goes without saying!
loads of wasabi please!
*piles a cup of wasabi on ata
it might wake me up!
*ata's pl5 that is*
sorry about the wasabi in the hair ata!
needs a wash anyway!
so does the z get used in anything?
who knows, wasabi could be the next big thing in hair care. :-0
yes
lol wolvie ty wolvie
Yes, just once, I think.
duh! *makes more sushi*
bbl I need lunch and a run to the bank
bye jmc
See you later, jmc.
I'll leave the extra sushi in the PB frig
I'm sure i'll have some
did I link you to the pics of the fawn we rescued, Haz?
You did. This holiday's been like a US edition of Animal Hospital.
All we needed was a weeping Rolf to make the picture complete.
it really has. the fawn was the highlight though!
It was very pretty.
I *still* have little hoof print bruises
You should see husband's bruises sometimes!
oh gosh! I can imagine ...
Time to head to the kitchen - glad you got back safely and through immigration. We told people you had been deported for breaching the restraining order from John Barrowman.
Poor man. The stalking can begin again....
bye haz - and yes, that was a great story. :-)

am currently toasting pignolis for a spiced quinoa recipe, don't let me stay here too long... need to shake the pan from time to time
Isn't it great when that happens, Monkey! It always stuns me.
yes. that is really monkeying at its best!
oh hello there, 128, I did not see you come in

Hello again, Soodle
Hi Soodle
Back for Round 2! Hows everyone finding the grid today?
Excuse me while I ask the squirrels once again to not use the bird feeders as th5 buffets.
Fun so far, but I am not even halfway yet
hello soodle! Take a peek in my profile today, dear - there are some photos the children took in Cavan!
ooh, got one!
nice grid, sood
Wow. How did the ordeal go for them, Trif?
meh. they mostly had fun, but all admitted it was weird to be there without me, which was nice. They had a good time, though, with all the little cousins
I bet your glad to have them back!!
I was, yes, but now they are off with him again. It's okay though - we all needed a bit of a break. august is always a looooong month
uh oh. Diggity just spotted the fawns out the window - cue mad dog barking.
hey dorens, can you send me the recipe? or post it? sounds yummy!
Thats nice. I would DEARLY love a break - much as I love the kids - time out sounds very attractive
hey dorens, did you shake the pan?
speaking of breaks, I need to poof again - be back later gators!
hah! i did, thanks... was a bit late, one side are slightly more than browned.... the stove is only seven steps away, you'd think i could do this, right?
ok harp, will put it in my profile. give me a minute
Dorens, when they're done, could you leave some in the PB, please
tyvm!
see ya trif!
Hi harp :)
hi monkey
hi harp
i'm taking an illegal housework break, we have company coming
as long as you have the art of hiding things down to a science, cleaning for company is easy
lol we invite someone over for dinner once a month because otherwise we would never even clean the catbox!
it's cleaning after the company has gone th4 gets to me
Haha, Jane, sometimes my invitations to my house are planned just to make me clean

Hello Lynxxx. How is Sunday so far?
Hi Shivs
how does one spell triomphe in English - triumph or such?
triumph it is
correct dc
hi dc! yep
ah, so. thanks
Triumph.
You look familiar?
hello, nrk, harp, dorens, scrabbs, shivs, lyn, dorens et al
Hiya, dcseain.
Haven't I seen you somewhere?
hi Scrabbs - its still asleep! I just found the french rabbit and was thinking of you
hi DC!
shivs, i believe so, saucy vegan perhaps?
Oh yes, that's it! :o)
the sky is threatening to thunderstorm again.
oh my, the french rabbit, thanks lynxxx
I knew I had seen you somewhere, LOL.
oh well... time to hit the kitchen again... be back later... happy babbling
la4 morte is the name of my violin's shoulder rest
er, la5 morte :)
see ya dorens
bye Dorens
hi all, I just popped back in, dcseain how are u?
the sleep dep from the irregular hrs is catching up w/me
hasta, dorens :)
Hiya, popper inner.
hi lilM
hi lynxxxxxxxx !!!
alrgiht, lil*, and you? So you know, Tom's surgery will be on 24 Sep.
Hi Shivs!
That clue has me befuddled, dcsean. Seain, is it?
on no!!! What's going on with Tom?
Septal Myectomy
I think I have seen you on Yahoo! too, have I not?
hm. likely, shivs
Now I am going to look, curious.
OMG dcseain! {{{{{{tom}}}}}}
Back after taking turns in games on FB. Hello all.
ooh, dc, well it's good that he's getting it taken care of!
*sending mass quantities of good karma to Tom Findley*
please give him my best wishes
Found you, dcsean, on J's page.
indeed, nrk, and will do, thank you
Scary operation for Tom.
ah, it kept me there this time. jolly good
Oh, has it been dumping you?
I add you just now.
I mean, added!
Radar weather map looks grim for the next 1-2 hrs, so bike ride to park will have to wait.
yes scrabbs. He's going for dental clearance tomorrow, ten we have 4 3 days of tests leading up to the surgery.
yes ,shivs, it keeps dumping me, and i'll add you back in a bit.
Is Tom your son, Seain?
yikes! 43 days of tests???
IHSS, Seain?
sorry, 3 days of tests :)
soodle, he's my partner
Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear you have someone going through that, dcseain. Hope all goes well!
Soodle, tom is dcseain's partner and they are a fantastic couple
scrabbs, IHSS?
Oh I see. One of my brothers is gay.
DC - my best wishes to Tom...tough old time for you.
Will think positive thoughts for Tom!
thanks, yall :)
Hiya Shivs - long time no chat
And you too, dcseain!
Idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis---a cause for a septal myectomy.
i need to call my uncle and see if they might put me up for the week and a half i'll be up there.
oh, no he's HOCUM
where is "up there" seain?
where will you be, dcseain?
Hiya, Soodlebum... have we chatted before? I had another account which I only used once or twice. Are you the same Irish person I spoke with last time?
HOCM properly, is suppose. brain is fuzzy today
Cleveland, OH - he's having the procedure at the Cleveland Clinic
I'd say so, Shivs, I seem to be the only Paddy flying the flag these days.
This site messed up the á in my name, so I had to make another account and use another name...it came out like gibberish!
i thin that's so in the chog, soodle
I see, Soodlebum. Why are the rest not proud enough to fly the flag? I would if I lived there!
I was born here in London but I'm Irish through and through...both parents are from there and most of our family's there.
shivs, some systems eat the é in my name, too. all system should use UTF-8, IMHO
I think HOCM is another term for IHSS. And I am relieved that Tom will be at the CCF
Yup - we chatted before about the fada in your name. Dunno why theres no other paddys on board - better things to be doing, I suppose!!
he researched, and narrowed down to CCF or Mayo, an CCF won for being closer :)
Oh yes, so you're a Séain. Beautiful name!
I have a friend that is a neurologist at CCF.
There must be, Soodlebum, surely to goodness?
neat, scrabbs. :)
It sounds like you made a good choice, seain
I hope all goes very well for him, Séain.
Uh, oh, I think the rain has just arrived
it's been raining here off and on for about 2 hours, scrabs
there probably is, Shivs, but they must be lurkers.
I think he should receive the best possible treatment and care at that facility, it seems.
hm. darkening sk, and still leaves. Storm any moment, then it seems.
Lurking paddys? Surely not?
the sun finally just came out here, but I don't expect it to last
Hey scrabs the Francais word for bunny is in the grid :D
yes, shives, Cleveland did 185 of the procedure last year, and i think they'll beat that number this year.
help with en7 please?
Merci beaucoup, lil*monkey!
dcseain, good to hear that... what's the predicted rehab time???
And it worked... how about that?
de rien, Shivs
variable, monkey, 3-5 days is usual, wee at outside for release from hospital, then 3 months for the bones to knit
week at outside
I have tried other foreign words that haven't worked. French as well.
I found la5 earlier today
seain, will you stay in Cleveland that whole time?
18-28 is when i'll be there, though we'll be in Detroit on the 19th to visit a friend of his.
Research indicates that "lurkers make up over 90% of online groups" (Nonnecke & Preece 2000). Lack of trust represents one of the reasons explaining lurking behavior (Ridings, Gefen & Arinze 2006).
lots of Scots, Yiddish, French, some German and Hebrew in grid often.
Ahh. Hi Babble. How are you?
that rather makes sense, babbleRabble.
A friend of ours went through that type of surgery, Séain. Not the same procedure, though. He's just fine now, you'd never guess if you didn't know.
seain, I'll be in DC area Oct 17-19, maybe I can visit you guys then if Tom is feeling up to it
that would be lovely, monkey. :)
Interesting, BR. When I lurk it is because I am cranky and feeling unsocial.
Oh interesting, Séain. I will keep that in mind.
When I lurk, sometimes I finish the grid!
en7 e & the N in the UN
i lurked here for 18 mos before i jumped into the chat because i wanted to grok the culture and personalities first.
And that is another reason, Soodle--to make progress!
LOL, Soodlebum! I can see why that would be.
LOL LOL seain, "grok"
grok?
TY, Lynxxx
oh my goodness, that's too funny... what is the name of that book??? I read it years ago
thanks lynxx!
Grok?
something by Heinlein, I think?
I chatted my first night here but didn't know chat etiquette/lingo.
Stranger in a Strange Land
google it shivs :)
grok - something between a grope & a poke?
ah yes, Robert Heinlein, I thought so
grok - to comprehend compeletly and totally the essence of a being/entity
grok, hmmm, I would say it kind of means assimilate, kind of means to feel, kind of means to immerse oneself
Well I'll be...I've learned a new word today.
What a great and crazy book that is!
yes, that too monkey
So how would one use that word in a sentence, Séain?
it is swamp-like today, in true August fashion today.
I grok you? LOL
I love that you mentioned it seain, and made me remember that book :)
You might get slapped for saying that!
Oooooh! Thunder here!
yes, shivs, grok is beyond know/comprehend
Hi again all, How is everyone?
here now too, monkey. hopefully not from the same system
hiya, red
Hiya!
I think it is, seain... it looks like a long skinny line of severe weather moving eastward
Some purport to study the ethical implications of lurking. There are references to lurkers being viewed negativing ... but that may happen when someone de-lurks as well.
hi red!
there's a three-fer 8
Hi red!
Just found another French word. Maybe that rabbit is very dark in colour
How can anyone's lurking negatively impact anyone else?
I feel delurked! but I have been out photographing dragon flies, butterflies and not lurking, the dog is happier.
I think lurking is a good way to learn, whether you're learning how to comprehend the clues, or the etiquette of chogging , or whatever! It isn't negative
nice , red
The site for Hgans heroes is in the grid - st6/7
i concur, monkey.
Yes they came out well...
ty, lyn :)
No. And it's definitely better for completing the puzzle!
awesome clue, lynxxxxx :D
lurking can be used for cyber-stalking, but i think that's the exception
I often set out on a babble-night, determined to lurk, then somethings tickles my fancy on the chog, and Bingo - another grid unfinished :(
Thanks, lynxxx!
LOL, Soodlebum...but you have fun?
And isn't that more important?
OMG it is raining so hard here, it sounds like jackhammers
Sure there isn't hail in that?
BBL, I'm going to have a snack now.... just looked out the window, do not see any hail
I sure do have fun, but my ratings are a constant source of embarrassment....
shivs, it oter rains hard enough for that w/out hail here in Virginia and Maryland
see ya monkey!
hasta, monkey
soodle, the important pat is having fun
part even
It rains a lot and very hard here too, Séain, but sounding like jackhammers?
That's a seriously heavy downpour!
yes, shivs, to point you can't hear, and you pull over on the roads for not being able to see through the rain
My, H, a direct correlation between de-luking and Teulu's happiness
Seain - That goes for life in general - not just babble!!!!
it hurts when it hits you too
I believe it, Lil Monkey we had that yesterday, very very loud....
Hello again Red
indeed so, soodle!
Oh no, Teulu is happier because I wasnt lurking, I was walking him. I got back and said Hi...
we had that here last night too
I thought it was hail, but no
hi scrabbs
hail makes tinkly noises :)
The rain is light here but enough to stop me from biking to the park. I wanted to sit next to the pond and work on the NYT crossword puzzle.
love the NYT puzzle, but only Sundays
I see you are on my page now, dcseain.
Should I Velcro you to it?
no saying, shivs
Or would Supergluing work better?
8 days ago my sister and I were suddenly caught in a thunderstorm while kayaking. The storm rushed over the mountain. So we pulled the kayaks on to the land, retreated to the woods and hid under a tarp (fortunately I had one with me) for an hour while we got pelted with hail and then rain.
Nrkii - whats a NYT puzzle?
New York Times crossword
N, we get the big weekly NYT puzzle in our Saturday paper--one of my weekly highlights!
Oh, that doesn't sound like much fun, Scrabbler. Did you manage to stay dry during all of that?
ah, the joys of summer, eh scrabbs
New York Times--the weekend puzzle is challenging, tricky and such a great learning experience.
scrabs, i subscribe to the NYT puzzles online, and usually print out a dozen or so before I go on vacation
Babble-rabble, your words of wisdom are less positive than usual tonight
Partly dry but then it was too wet to start a fire.
The sun came out and we paddled away, warming up quickly.

hi, jbv. so, what think you of "a ti te gustan..." vs "te gustan..." ?
good luck, Soodlebum ... it is a process .. don't quit

I found last weeks chat, together with the quotes, quite inspiring. Thank you.

Hi Shiv and Inge- was away
Hiya, DR.
nice to see you
I have 12 P words left
I have too many words left...not even halfway finished.
this was a complicated grid Shivs
hello again. I've been in and out of here all day. Not getting very far at all on this grid.
Hi Nef
Others here aren't having as much trouble?
Hiya Nef.
yes, I agree I found yesterday' easier to do
I only have 133 words...not good at all.
hi DR, Shivs and inge
yes Inge- yesterdays monster wsa not quite as tough
howdy, Nef
I *think* I first started here about 10 hours ago and still have just 100 words. Of course, we did do some garden work, went ot a wedding and shopping, etc. but still.....
Thanks Nef, now I don't feel so bad.
en7?
e + na6 (country)
en 7/28 is en plus "one na****, under God..." Shirlockc

shirlokc, e + one N***** under God...
en 7: e + the country you live in
yw :-)
hi une. How are you doing on this one?
I just saw a couple obvious little words I haven't in all this time! How does that happen?
ph7?
hey, nef . . . went to the list with about 65 left . . .
sometimes it works NOT to look at the grid, Shivs
ph7 is the name of a babbler
ph7 ends in 2000 lbs
ph7: early vehickle and name of a babbler
shir, it's a Babble players name
I think so, Nef. Perhaps I should switch the monitor off?
got it! thx
anything's worth a try, shivs! LOL
LOL, I'm starting to think so!
Hello again Babble buddies!
Hello again, Scrabbler!
hey, scrabs!
OKAY! At 105 words now. I'm listing way too early; but since it's my own rule I'm breaking; I'm going to let me do it.
Guten Abend, Freundin
hi Scrabs
go, nef!
Guten Abend, Inge!
How accommodating of you, Nef. Be good to yourself!
hi, inge
hello Une

It's ok, Inge.

>_<
Party tonight, Worquey, or is there a male deer nearby?
pb for you, Worquey
???
I think that means penalty box?
late
yep :-)
>_<
I was commenting on your word, Worquey, and Inge was directing you to the PB (penalty box) for your infraction
It is getting la4, isn't it?
are you a newbie? Worquey
It's OK, Worquey, we all do it, even after 3 yrs for me
I am. I think this is my third attempt at this puzzle?
worquey, put WORDS in the WORD box and Chat in the chog or we send you to the penalty box (where there is choclit and pizza)
A bit, but I should look out where the curser is at.
and the occasional cabana boy
That doesn't sound like punishment.
Precisely, Shivs.
Cabana boys?
it's gotten cushier every year! LOL
When players put grid words into the chat, we send them to the penalty box, which is well-stocked with snacks and dkrins
How generous of you all!
And we have a Jacuzzi spa, a refrigerator, etc
I do it all the time. Mostly la**ly I'm chatting in the word box; but I still put 1 word in chog every so often
I'm sure everyone does at some time.
Seems it's easily done...I nearly did it.
I finished the T's by myself and with the list.
Jacula's icon has a picture of the PB. Some amenities are missing
go, scrabs!
I'm still plodding along with the list, finding the odd word.
Some people have a special program from Lickety; but it doesn't work on Macs. :-(
Oh does it? I shall look.
Oh that's helpful.
Is Jacula here?
If you are a paid up member, you have to ask Lickety for a copy of the BAbble Expert.
What is that?
Babble Expert is the program with clues that we use
I have the clues page? That's the list?
I am not using it yet though.
No, the lickety list is easier to use
Yes Inge, that's what I meant.
The clues list.
The "Yes" I just typed showed up in the Add Word: space under the puzzle. Strange!
hiya, nef!
Anyway I thought PB meant for peanut butter for a bit.
"Into the peanut butter with you?"
That would be messy!
Hi Jen
FIREWORKS!:-)
Shivs, the Babble Expert is something I can't have (because I'm on a Mac); but I use Lickety's list . Usually not til I find over half the words, though
WTG, Jac! YAY!!!
hello all. need help with ha6/21 pls
Incidentally, it's FMitch who has the PB pic in her profile not me.
yahoo jacula! I saw adorable baby guinea pigs at the farm & country store today
hi big red
hello Scrabbler
ha6/21: ha+when it rains very hard, with some ice, you might get ***e* (7/32 is the plural)
Scrabbs - were you tempted?
Oh. I was wondering about that.
I don't know if this will work, but here is a picture of the PB as designed by FMitch: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8837646@N 07/2701271903
What a beautiful Peruvian guinea pig!
thanks buffgirl
Oh thanks but I can't copy that, Nef. My brother sent me some of his video clips he wanted me to watch and some special codecs, he said I needed to see them. They messed up something so my copy and paste doesn't work in some applications...grrrr!!
If you email the URL to me I can click it, if you want to?
Here's the link to the PB pic http://tinyurl.com/mwud4e
ok
shivsfitz -at - yahoo.co.uk
Thanks!
My computer acted up. Shivs, there are two Lickety lists, the one we call Babble Expert and the one offered amonth the amteirals listed in "Friends of Babble".
Shivs - she was a lovely guineapig. She died a couple of weeks ago, though.
It's the latter one I use Inge, only I haven't yet. Don't think I will now since I won't last much longer. It's late!
Oh dear...I am sorry to hear that, Jacula.
How old was she?
*Among the materials* is what I meant
About 5, Shivs. That's the longest most g/p's live.
are there any words with the "z" in it
Yes, I know they don't usually live longer than about that age. They can, but not all do.
I LOVE FM's pic! How nice to show Hazel with my fiance, George Clooney. It will help Hazel feel better and keep the paparazzi away from me.
Oh, Jac, was it Margaret that passed on?
Scrabbs - it was me who did the Haz & Clooney pic.:D
Scrabbs - yes, it was Margaret.
That was the guinea pig's name?
Jen - yes, there's a dancing word with a 'z' in it.
A friend of ours has a hen called Margaret.
Shivs - yes, she was named after my exM-I-L because of her long blonde hair.
LOL, I see! Was she flattered?
Aw, Margaret (my middle name) had gotten through a tough illness and surgery last year, didn't she, Jac?
She had Scrabbs.
My middle initial is M, but not for Margaret.
thanks, Jac!
Shivs - No idea. We also had a g/p called Vernon after my exP-I-L. The g/p had a V on his forehead.
y/w Jen.
Funny!
Our friend with the hen called Margaret has a bunch of them, each with very human names.
The funniest pet name I think I've heard of was a black lab called Mary! It just didn't seem right!
We've still got 4 g/ps left - 2 boys, Foxy & Badger (named for th** colouring) and 2 girls, Pauline & Geri (who has red hair).
Thanks for that clue, Jac. Didn't see it!
I once had a pair of fantailed goldfish named after my parents.:)
Do you have photos of them up?
One of my roommates in college did a senior year science project with hens. She named them all after us, then chopped of the head of one each weeK..
inge - Oh!:(
Yikes, Inge!
Oh my god that's terrible, Inge! :o( How cruel!
I wouldn't want to know anyone who would do that!
I never give my pets "cutesie pet names"
She became a professor of anatomy at a Texas U
I give them people names
I don't either Scrabbler but some human names don't seem right for animals...like a dog called Mary?
Shivs - No, but there are some of the cat.
Pic in my icon is me and Paul at the wedding reception this evening.
hi everyone! how's it going?
Hiya lbdawger.
Nice photo, Jacula.
I agree, Shivs, and I do use names that I would not name a child, e.g. my female bunny is Miss Beatrix Potter, "Miss Bea", and she is stretched out near me

MUSE!!!! how the heck have you been?
hi muse
hi LBD! Fine ... got back from Florida 3:30 am today. Hi boo
was very hard trying to do babble on the iphone ... unable to scroll the chat log or word list ... so I remained "mum".
how are you doing LBD?
are you on FB yet?
fireworks
congrats Boo!
dawger, are you multitasking? lol!
whooo hooooo BOO!!!
no facebook for me. i'm all ready too obsessed with things. lol
florida! whew, you've been incognito forever!
was down in Florida for 2 weeks, 5 of which were spent at the hospital with my Mom, who had fallen in tub while we were out and couldn't get out.
LOL I know what you mean LBD.
I've been on a bit more lately ... new job working 13 1/2 hr shifts, am often too tired to babble much when I come home. But I'm getting used to it ... now have to re or***** myself to the schedule again.
ugh 131/2 hour shifts!
Congratulations Boobear on fireworks! Good for you!
is your mom doing okay now?
Mom doing better ... she had to be thoroughly checked out since the reason for her fall is that she passed out (and wound up breaking the faucet in tub in the process). So CT, xrays, cardio work up. Thank God all ok except for 2 fractured ribs.
how old is she? thank goodness she didn't break anything else!
But she refused to leave south; got clearance from PT that she could maneuver on her own the last day, otherwise her only other choice was rehab facility.
She is 78 years young :)
good to hear she is improving
78, she's still got a few good years left! *wink* she just needs to be careful with what she tries to do. but i'm sure she knows that
She said she bent forward to turn the shower water off when the lights went out. Thank goodness no water in tub when she fell. She must have a very hard head coz no swelling, contusions, hematomas, etc. etc. and the way she found herself on awakening made me believe she must've banged it.
thanks TO and LBD
any family live nearby her to keep her from trying to climb on the roof and fix the shingles?
The saddest part was that she was stuck and couldn't get herself out. Four hours later we found out when we came home early from the water park.
LOL! LBD, she has a wonderful neighbor who looks in on her since her cardiac catheterization in '99. But she teaches pre-K and isn't home all day and her husband and sons work too.
oh dear! i'm so glad it was just a busted faucet and not her head or hip!
thank goodness for good neighbors.
Yes exactly. The pain pills made her physically sick and her stomach swelled for a while, but other than that she has a fierce independent streak. So the great motivator was that she didn't want to come up to NY.
independent...appears you come by it honestly! :)
The doctor prescribed home health care for the next 2 weeks to look in on her so that gives us some peace of mind anyway, and she's going to follow up with her primary care physician. Oh did I tell you she FINALLY had cataract surgery on one eye two weeks ago. She timed it for when my brother and I would be down.
She was so afraid to do it .... took I think 4-5 years to make up her mind.
good timing on her part for the eye surgery. bet she wishes she'd done it earlier. sight is so precious
That was my mantra for the past 2 years LBD, but I'm only the daughter ;)
can anyone clue the first ga7 please?
She still needs to do the other eye, but doc wants to do corneal transplant first.
ga4.6 (2nd one) + not coffee
Hi Bugs ... and thanks dawg!
is she going to do it?
ga7/36 is a strong cotton fabric, plain or striped, for clothing Bugsaw.Put definition in reverse dictionary and it is the first word on that list Bugsaw.
She says she has to find out more about it.
Hi Min!

Hello all
Hello jillibus! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
I know LBD but she has the tenacity of a bull ... you can show her blue, prove it's blue, get others to voice it's blue and she'll still say green.
Hi Jilli!
Haven't had much babbletime today -- 60 left :(
I'm almost done.I can help with clues if needed jillibus

Hello car.eeyore! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
Hello / Good evening my friends...have been quietly working on the grid for the last few minutes!

hello babblers . will be in and out attention-wise. TRAINSPOTTING IS ON THE TUBE!!!!!!!

Ren, I have some advice: don't go riding on bumpy roads. I did that after my lumpectomies; made the mistake of riding all the way across the state with DH -and back again! You stay off bummpy roads and wild seas, okay?
be well, stid
nonono ren, that won't do -- stand in a doorway and crawl them up the bulwarks er el4

i have one - i trip over it - but i have one
Well, shake it up baby now

babrab, close your eyes. I have one and a half boobs at this point, and the intact one sags about 3" below the ectomied one. I'd love to get the sagger truncated, lol!
You really don't need to build muscle at this point; you just want to maintain range of motion right now. If you don't you will develop contractures and/or a "frozen" shoulder
a storm: ga** + consumed food: ***
ren, listen to nef
i am listening. i have my two squeeze balls too
frozen shoulders hurt!
