Gotta go for a while - back later
only 1 dee
(puzzling hard over pedogenesis, mrp)
hi Dee
ty ... how many ne 9's please?
jilli, google it or dictionary it
1 dee
thx so much mrp
isn't pedogenesis what Michael Jackson went through?
is de9 a compound word?
no flosey
it comes off the first de4
ty mrp
will do, mrp -- I think I have the first 3 letters...
I don't think he ever broke through adolescence ruuster
I think he probably did mr p
it is a word that combines newborn and adolescents
if you have the first 3 letters of newborn, add a number and pluralise it
got it
how do you find these things mr p..(amazing)
oooh, I clued good!
got it too, ty mrp
you sure did
ruuster, I seek and destroy the biggies!
1 9 to go
someone clue the de9?
got the de9 just by instinct :)
do you have the first de4??
I think so
de 9 = a place for the head of a college, ends like where they make wine (pl)
extend it and pluralize it
oops, "places", not "a place"
geezus
I agree, ru!
9's are done..
just need a couple of 8's
ruru, hope you dropped us for ge4/11
lol jilli
who's your icon today?
doesn't the writeup say?
your favorite word is in the grid jilli
lots of g8's in8's and n8's
so I see, ty ruru
make that lots of ne7's
what icon are you seeing?
looks like a magazne cover
(asking ruru)
is it a person? That was yesterday's poet, Ogden Nash. Better click on it for the blown glass!
oh that's chiluly?
NO -- Tagliapietra -- I wish you would click on it and see the larger version and the writeup!
will do..

He was one of Chihuly's teachers

can anyone gently lead me to the re 8 please?
re 8/55 is the past tense of re 7/36

yes, great clue
thanks -- fianlly got it -- was thinking of the othe sea bird :(
sleepy -- can't type
jili's volcano is here :)
yes, and the goose
actually, my volcano should be Vesuvius -- the name of the little hamlet near here and the bay where the beach is
right, always think of you when I see those - also the needlecase which is not in today
:)
LOL!
I think I have typed in orange at least 4 times
don't you just hate it, you know a word is there, but can't see how the letters make it.
you're not alone with that!
yes, then I am thankful this is not a grid that has to be moused, rather than typed
sometimes I type a word without looking and it's there - don't bother to find where it is hiding
ditto that flosey
for the life of me, I cannot find my last o

I giggled when I found not only the game with the green fuzzy ball, te 6, but also the slang for the shoes worn to play it, te 7 - didn't think that would pass Enable

has J.C. been around lately?? I have been concerned that we ran him off.
g'night, jilli!
nite jilli :)
He's away, mrp, doing a show in Norwich
can I get a clue for the de9 please/
oh wow!
I hope he stays the hell away. little creep
yes, someone posted his list of appearances earlier, sounds like he's busy
ditto, herin
I didn't realise he was still working! great stuff he does
I am sorry but anyone that claims they have ''friends'' watching the chat freaks me the hell out which is why i have been lurking
ah, yes, I agree he is a disturbing influence, who or whatever he is
herin, did you get my email today?
infern, dont judge him to harshly... he has a fan base that look up to his values, being passionate and being predisposed to outbursts of passion are two different things... it will all calm down me thinks
how should he be judged for abusing Andree, mrp?
but - anyone who makes people feel uncomfortable is not a good addition to Babble, imho.
looking
Stop it! You are abusing him!
I swear if someone makes me feel this uncomfortable I am not going to remain sillet
I am leaving.
andree is upset, fair enough... i love andree. I also appreciate individual choices
no, we aren't. we are discussing his actions
jilli, don't leave!
I've never seen him say anything disturbing
Herin, you are making yourself uncomfortable by believeing a lot of nonsense and refusing to listen to the truth.
good
mrp, it isn't a load of nonsense
Fine I am leaving. Its not worth being in tears
I was half asleep anyway but I won't stay quiet about this and have said my piece.
well nor will people who think he is a bullying creep
bullying? creep?
And that isn't abusing him?
no, it's my opinion of him based on his words
I think he's a gentle sweet guy
he disturbs me constantly by calling everyone by their real names - but only the ones he "approves" of, and the constant "you have mail" and so on, and so on...
a sweet gentle guy who wrote a blog abusing andree? nice ...
You are right, flosey.
I missed that, sorry
well, I have always liked him and everyone is entitled to screw up
sorry, I usually don't say much, but this has gotten to me. I read his blog, it was an obsessive rant, as far as I'm concerned, and totally uncalled for.
agreed
hi everyone
Disagree if you like, but don't go overboard.
have to say my piece here
I have screwed up many a time... I am hopeless at times
hi andree!
it certainly was a rant
(Hi all). I read some things about this yesterday but haven't actually seen what he wrote. Could anyone email me the link? em in profile.
j c lifted my profile and started a blog about the dog i am getting
he insuled me and does not even know me
as I said, he was being over passionate and it spilled over to a personal level that shouldn't have happened
and what dog i get is my decision alone
I think the most unfortunate aspect of J.C. is that he has managed to divide babblers so effectively. It's continuing even without him being here. I've been under attack from him (didn't you get e-mails from him, jillibus and flosey, suggesting that I was quite the sort of person to send abusive e-mails to babblers?). so I know what it's like to feel his venom.
here sally
mrp, I wouldn't call that passionate (even by definition); hurtful and inappropriate
http://jpcjournal.blogspot.com/2009/09 /urg-ll-t-nn.html#comment-form here it is
very much agreed, haz
I have not had any email from JC, he has never said anything to me about anyone else
absolutely andree!
You can disagree with someoneone's lifestyle but you should not insult them.
he is a mean horrible man and that is nothing to what he said about me
Thanks mrp.
He probably didn't know that I have copies of e-mails between him and others. I kept quiet about him for a long time, out of respect to those who seemed to enjoy his company. I'll go back to ignoring him if he ever comes around again, again out of respect to those who do enjoy him and because it's safer to stay under his radar of abuse.
how dare anyone lift a profile from babble, its so not in the right spirit
the link is in his profile here, and it's the comments that really go too far. Trifioso stuck up for Andree, and did a lovely job, too.
totally agree about that andree
yes, she really did!
he has his spies, as he says. but we notice what goes on too ...
he calls them " followers" its pretty sick, i would be really embarrased at being called anyones follower
t
Twitter calls them followers and so do several other networks.
One of the positive things about babble has always been that we can discuss all sorts of subjects and although we don't agree with each other, there is a spirit of tolerance. If I were to express my opposition every time someone made a decision I didn't agree with, I'd probably become extremely unpopular. I've learned to be more tolerant, it's a pity that J.C. apparently hasn't been able to understand why babblers feel so disturbed that he has ridden roughshod through the standards that have built up over the years.
I support pure breed dogs, but I don't object to anyone taking in a pet from any place!! His objections were strong and wide felt. Yes, he has divided babblers, but we are kind to eachother and know what can happen on this chog. Those of us that are 'family' can argue and disagree, but still get over it. I love all opinions, but abuse is past opinion
and i need to say a word here in herin's defence, she would have liked me to get a rescue pet but wishes me well anyway, she is most upset about the cyber bullying and is not afraid to say so
I think I simplified what you said Haz LOL!! you are a scholar
babble is not his playground to garner minions in and be adored, as much as he wants it that way
j c has divided babblers fortunatly not many left on his side, he has really in trif's words crossed the line
I am pleased you have the pet you want andree!!
And now, I don't know about anyone else, but have you seen the size of this grid?
I hope you bring your doggie for a play date with Vixie!!
it's biiiiiiiiiig
and my profile today is a photo of him taken a week ago
ohhhh he's adorable
i should get him by the end of the month and a play date would be fun
oh what a cutie!!!
he is exactly what i want, i would have loved a pure spaniel but need something smaller and low shedding
< - pure spaniel. You can see why Andree would want pure spaniel.
he's just adorable
ditto hobbit. we spaniel owners are smug
Smuggest of the smug.
oh yes
oh, andree,he's gorgeous. well picked1
hi rose!!!
apart from the owner of the springer yesterday who was plodding round drinking up other dogs' wee puddles *facepalm*
did you see my facebook yet girls?? andree and rose are featured!!!
Good evening, grannyrose.
hey, mrp.dust storm cleared yet?
The owner was drinking dogs' wee?
hey haz
apparently it's a delicacy in kent
yes rose, thank goodness! the dust is disgusting ... absolutely everywhere in the house!!
Check your sentence, Ata!
lol I know ... I'm *tired*!
If I would have know it was coming, would have taped up the doors
I like how you mentioned, Andree, that the breeder uses some of her money to help with orphans in Rwanda - that's so lovely of her!
Excuse me but did someone say that we are attacking JC because of his lifestyle? DID i just read that right?>
OK, back from speed reading. Well said and defended Trifioso. Hadn't realised JC was who he says he is although I had wondered. Someone in the public eye should perhaps choose words more carefully! Anyway, back to this ginormous grid.
where did you read that infern?
Sallycat 300am: You can disagree with someoneone's lifestyle but you should not insult them. Does this mean you are saying Sally that we are attacking him because of his lifestyle?
no, herin, I don't think so. I think she meant Andree's lifestyle getting a bred puppy
I don't think that's how she meant it, herin, I believe she was saying he was picking on Andree's lifestyle, actually.
Was she referring to Andree and her choices perhaps?
i don't think his lifestyle was mentioned, that would make us as judgemental as he is
good ok sure ok Thanks sorry I will shut the frog up. Go bang my head on a wall sorry. I must have miss read
No, no, no!! I meant that JC could disagree with Andree getting a pure-bred, but should not make it a personal attack.
Thank you Sally. I am going to go stick my head under a tap and hopefully drown this cold.
can't be arsed arguing any more.
Isn't there a quote, I disagree with what you do but defend your right to do so? Sorry, poor memory atm.
awwww herin go look after yourself *hugs*
Don't bang your head on the wall, herin. Breathe deeply, count to ten and look at that nice big grid over there. < THOUSANDS of points, THOUSANDS.
something like that, sally!
i know lots disagree and thats what i expect , but to ram it down my throat and bully me is not on
Hello everyone
hi lynxxx
Hello lynxxx.
sally, I think the quote is I don't agree with what you say, but I will defend your right to say it.... or something like that
especially when we all know that we could have a perfectly amicable discussion with you about how you made your choices so we could understand why such a thing was best for you
hi lyn. and fireworks for me.
I don't disagree as it happens Andree. For myself, I would always choose a rescue - but I have no issue with people that don't. As it happens, I didn't get rescue chickens, but pure-breeds :-)
hi lyn! hi Mr Rescue Dog :)
Wow Granny! Congrats!
yay rose
wow granny!
woohoo, g'rose!!!!
Well done grannyrose! How many thousands of points are we aiming for?
ty all, youngestson here visiting, will bbl
wtg granny!!
haz, 7020 points
WOW
wow, and I only have 4040 so far - something to aim for, lol!
Wonderful! I feel inspired.
7020? I have 129 so far :-(
Well, pick up the pace, Sally! No dawdling!
points? or words, Sally?
not sure inspired is the right word ..
Points! Think I should get stuck in.
challlenged perhaps?
yes!
I refuse to use 'challenging'. Everything is challenging these days. What's wrong with saying difficult?
quick duck...I can feel the saucepans flying thru the air
but I did find a 9 on my own :)
Sorry, you've set me off on a pet peeve. You don't want to set me off on pet peeeves.
or bloody hard, perhaps?
I woulld never call you 'difficult'!
oh no, virtual saucepans!
tesco! oooops I didn't say that
Blood pressure rising dangerously....
get thee to some wi8!
tesco? Wash your mouth out.
And nobody type redundant apostrophes if you don't want me to blow up.
remember the new diplomatic you
we are now getting a new supermarket to rival tesco. thank goodness
That's right, Andree. I had nearly forgotten about my diplomacy diploma.
down to 100 for tomorrow, goodnight for real this time
well, I'm off to bed, with lots perhaps unsaid, but I do want to say the puppy's cute as heck, Andree, and I don't care how or where you got him! ((((Hugs, all!))))
bye flosey
bye rbud!
bye Rosebud, night Flosey

bye rbud and thx
lent

Bye flosey.

bye Andree
bye Andree
Bye Andree. No virtual saucepans for you, it's the real deal!
May I ask what is JC's profession?
google Julian Clary Christine
okay, will do later on. Still trying to get past 160 words. I was doing OK, until I started to read the chog.
Ho ho, a biggie! G'd morning-ish Babblers!
LCL!!
morning Lori, feeling Christmassy already?
One thing about this grid, just add er and plural to everything. Seems so much nicer that way! Must be off for now, back later.
Good morning, Lori. Now, you've got more than 7000 points coming your way, I hope you're looking forward to the work ahead?
Bye Sally!
bye Sally
Am I reading correctly? Andree is cruel to bot beast and child, by adding no supper to her list of evils? :p
quite possibly, yep!
Bye Sally. Hazaurus, a big grid is perfect for me today, a welcome distraction.
*both, not bot
Oh good! There's nothing like a distraction to distract you from unwelcome distractions.
Oooh, and it's redundant redundancy day to. Yea!
Is that the theme? :D
Yes. And we have to avoid using the word 'challenge'.
which is very cha - difficult
I dare you to not say challenge.
I mean - the songwriter didn't pen the words 'Breaking up is challenging' - no, 'Breaking up is hard to do'.
***also wonders why***
It's a pet peeve of mine. It's used all the time, as a verb, a noun, an adjective and it's starting to become meaningless and an excuse not to look up a word with the same meaning and use it instead.
Are you unanimous in that sentiment?
Journalists and politicians and policy writers love it.
and news readers
uh oh, I think I have accidently hit on a sore point
Completely unanimous and diplomatic with it.
Maybe it's a UK thing, lynxxx? I'm not getting at you, being all diplomatic and all, but it's getting to be as widespread as 'I was like and he was like'.
aussies are too busy talking about sheilas and barbies
So far we haven't had journalists reporting conversations with politicians in those terms ''I was like - what are you going to do about the economy and he was like 'it's challenging'
no, we use the word here a lot too, although I wouldn't say excessively
good morning.
bet Mandelson has said it!
And I'll tell you something else. Tony Blair has got his teeth fixed.
hi Red
Good morning red.
Mornin' red
hi red!
I heard a really funny joke about Gordon Brown yesterday. Can I copy it in here, it's quite long, but not toooooo long
The phrase I've come to despise is "at the end of the day". It's so overused, it makes me want to scream.
On you go. Have you proofread it for the c word?
At the end of the day it's only an expression, Lori.
Hi all - how about "that being said"?
At last Gordon Brown decided to throw the towel in and resign. His cabinet colleagues decided it would be a worthy gesture to name a railway locomotive after him. So a senior civil servant went from Whitehall to the National Railway Museum at York , to investigate the possibilities. "We have a number of locomotives at the NRM without names" the Director told the top civil servant. "Mostly freight locomotives though." "Oh dear, that's not very fitting for a prime minister" said the civil servant. "How about that big green one, over there?" he said, pointing to number 4472. "That's already got a name" said the director. "It's called 'Flying Scotsman'." "Oh. Couldn't it be renamed?" asked the civil servant. "This is a national museum after all, funded by the taxpayer." "I suppose it might be considered," said the director. "After all, the LNER renamed a number of their locomotives after directors of the company, and even renamed one of them Dwight D Eisenhower." "That's excellent", said the civil servant, "So that's settled then .. let's look at renaming 4472. But how much will it cost? We can't spend too much, given the expenses scandal!" Well, said the director, "We could always just paint out the 'F'."
hi Di
Aiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !
Whaat about sports reporters who use STRAIGHT for CONSECUTIVE? Or offers for training that takes only n9 short months ... every February, for nine years?
Hello, Dianne.
ok, maybe it was quite long lol
ok,son and wife gone, hubby home, with a migraine. so he's tucked up in bed.
ROFL -
Good one, Ata!
Very clever
I loved that
wb Rose
lololol Ata. Nice one.
Mornin' Dianne, rose
man this grid, all we need is either an ISm or and ing ending to have a 700jillion word grid.
in case ther of those who are here, who weren't here earlier, the ne4 for today is, I'M GONNA BE A GRANNY AGAIN!!!!
With that being said, at the end of the day I challenge you to come up with a funnier joke.... :)
Oh! When's the happy event?
Hooray!!! what great news Rose
good news Granny!
Congratulations granny
Okay, I'm off ... erm, off the board, I mean. Time for a cuppa, and finish my Michael Connolly book.
she's about 7 weeks now, so about april 2010, we think
Bye Christine, enjoy!
Later Christine.
bye Chris
Oh, good news, Grannyrose.
Oh, good news, Grannyrose.
* cheshire grin *
There's no way that Ata can be any smugger than a new granny to be.
lol,haz, you got that right
Ata is utterly smug at having a spaniel instead of children!
Oh, but there's a glow that comes off new grannies to be.
ata, both adorable, but not interchangeable, i'm thinking
btw, point count for this grid is 7020
I'm hoping the points will start to stack up nicely when I start finding longer words.
haz, PB!
haz, lots of words with z and w ,either beginning or in them
No, PB is suspended for grids of more that 390 words. I've just decided.
get thee in there and start making cheesecakes for us all!
arthrodesis isn't in the grid today again. Some day...
ouch, haz, don't remind me!!!!!
It would be gruel and water in the PB if I had my way.
I know, granny, but wouldn't it be fantastic if it was in the grid some day? I'd beat you for smugness.
arthrodire / arthrodires would be good too
* giggle *
Zenith! I want it, but at the end of the day it would seem I cannot. ***le sigh***
i'm still in this b..... wheelchair for another 3 weeks, and i hate, hate, hate the camwalker.
When all's said and done, it was a noble ambition, Lori.
what a challenging time for you, lori
At least I gave it 110%.
I give every grid at least 200%
If not more.
A good peeve, Lori.
: )
anyone stuck, and ne4 help?
yes please granny
Psychiatric help possibly, but word wise, so far so good granny. :)
gort, how?
there's a herd of mystifying se's after the us politicians - any clues pls?
spanish word for mister and missus?
after the american politicians, but before the spanish grownups
spanish words can have an h in them
Portuguese mister and missus, too
oh, right, br. i stand corrected.
The grid is obviously terribly cosmopolitan today.
Good morning, BabbleRabble.
thanks granny, also for the international edumacation
hello, Haz
hi Gort & BabRab
hey lun
lyn
also be6 , like the shakesperean poem, but change the first vowel
the 14 line verse would be there but for an e
* se6 *
hello, lyn
can't spell, can't speak spanish, don't know portugese, and can't see straight!
Call those excuses, gort?
houston we have a problem
its a challenge
lol haz
still have some red sky in Aussieland, lyn?
Gort obviously isn't giving 110%.
she's Australian, will that work?
did our duststorm make it to international news?
Okay, we'll accept the Australian excuse. It's late and all that.
apparently it's settled, according to mrp. but the dust is in everything and everywhere
Not in my part of the world BabRab, Andree & MRP might have a problem still though
it's not settled here - storm blew to queensland (1500kms north of sydney)
Dust? I'm sure LoriP just wishes she could step on a plane and help.
Gort - are you in NSW or Qld?
lol, haz
qld
She could sell copies of her Good Housekeeping book and made a profit out of the trip.
good grief, gort.
i like the sound of this woman - travelling the world and giving it a good scrub
I think all of Central Australia blew onto Sydney today Haz
At the end of the day haz, I'd have to say you're not even close.
Yes, Lori is world famous for her cleaning.
8 groan * lori
it woudl certainly be a challenge for her
aaarrrggghhh, ata.......
I'm a legend in the cleaning world. Generations to come willl speak of me.
back again
gort, how are those se words coming along?
wb Andree
wb Andree
i got stuck again after the portugese people - the 5, 6 and 7
'So, LoriP, why have you come to Australia?' 'Well, I saw the news and I was like WOW, those people need me 110%. So, at the end of the day, i was like, WOW, I need to get there and give my all.'
hey, andree, the babrab was asking anout the dust storm.
feel like a tiny child placing it's sticky, linguistic hand into granny's kindly one and being led to learning
There's no i in team, that's my cleaning motto.
as soon as i got home from work via the hairdresser for a much needed haircut out came the hose, everything was inch deep in red dust , i hosed house windows cars, outdoor furniture, my poor veg garden looked derelict
extra lol haz
did you get the clue re poems?
lolol gort. Baby steps....
Oh, Andree! That sounds awful.
oh no sorry granny i didn't
oh sorry granny, yes i did
That sounds like just another day in my house Andree.
the house needs a good clean but that must wait, or maybe lori could pop over
ok, shakesperean poems, change the first vowel
at least you haven't got your pup yet - cream puppy + red dust = challenging
i did get it thanks granny, just a bit late, got a lotta dust on the brain
Call me thick, but I jus don't see what the problem is.......
right then, we are up to after the se mister and missus without the h, right?
does this red dust get adventuresome on a regular basis?
it was quite disgusting to be driving about, every car was filthy and knowing mine looked like that too, would have gone to the car wash but the line was a mile long
almost, granny, need the 5 and the 7 on either side of the almost-poem
ist time in 70 years babble
i have never seen it before
What you need are trained elephants to hoover up the dust and blow it back where it came from. I don't deny there might be a problem with their(ahem) droppings, but it's a very ecologically friendly way of coping with the crisis. You have many elephants in AUstralia?
se5, an aperient, se7, plurals the almost poem
Not very common BabRab. They are comparing this one to one that happened over Melbourne about 25 years ago
actually, humble ol' qld had one 6 years ago, a few roos got asthma and that was about it
as mrp said if we had known we would have taped up the windows and doors, i left my bathroom window open, big mistake
never seen red dust like it...when we woke this morn it was like a fireball....tankfully it has settled in our area....g/kids walked to school with towels wrapped around their heads so only their eyes peeped out
we have an elephant car wash ...
an aperient, you say...hmmm....
that does not sound pleasant
Back shortly...
a herbal aperient
**gortmold too embarrassed to let granny see her googling herbal aperient**
se +2 x single hump letter+ first vowel
and just like that, the se's are done
thank you granny, you've been v patient
whoot, gort
yw gort,
i think we both need a stiff whiskey now, eh granny?
and the moral of the story is that words are only difficult to find if you can't find them
talking about elephants, i don't know if it reached international years but about 3 years ago we got some from thailand and there was the biggest whoha from various animal lovers etc, they have the most beautiful enclosure and are so happy and 2 months ago a baby was born, he is so cute
don't just stand there, woman......get out of my way
i should know better than to stand between a granny and her whiskey
So true, BabbleRabble ... some time ago I read a book who's blurb read 'This book will appeal to people who like this type of book'
just doesn't get any better than that, Christine and good day
Eeeeew - neighbour's cat just drank my tea ... gotta amke more. ttfn
! make more !
clue for the ae pls?
ahhhh, that's better.* lies back, bourbon in one hand, ciggy in the other* peel me a grape, please, de4
lol granny
ae + sit down to a meal
would you like me to suck the seeds out too?
uummmm, no de4, can do that for myself, thanx
n eg
can i massage your bunions in return for that ae?
* indignantly* i haven't got any of those, thank-you very much
but there's a sore spot just over the right shoulder....
yes, as soon as the words left my fingers, i regretted them **gorty apologises for heinous assumption of bunions**
Gorty also decides to start own church: Blessed Boggler of the Heinous Assumption of Bunions
rofl
lol gort
did i mention that the left ankle could do with a gentle massage, and the fourth finger on the right hand, and, oh,there's an itch on the lower back, just to the left
ooh crikey, you'll have to give me a clue for the de9 and 8 to get all that
de9, plural form of where head of universities dwell
what a hilarious word, wonder if they actually exist
offers to message granny's ankle with a post maul
de8, de + trig function + not the old testament
gee, thanx br, you're so nice to me
wow, granny, with scripture knowledge like that, you could be altargirl for the CHurch of the Heinous Assumption
thanks heaps
yeah, right...i'd like to see that. only if they wear red or purple.
they do, we have adopted the sacred frocks of the the Super People - you can wear your wonderwoman cape
i myself prefer to keep it casual with jeans and an enormous ruby encrusted sceptre
oh goodie, * wonders about the jocks *
extreme LOL, granny, stop wondering and start wearing
inside or outside the pantyhose, do you think?
ooh, now you've put me on the spot...inside the pantyhose i think, you can never have enough hose in church
ROFL!!!!!
wonderwoman, definitly outside the panthose
gee, thanx, andree. you first
uh oh, andree, we may now have our first church schizm
they do tend to occur over crucial issues such as internal or external sporting of hose
omg, laughing too much, going for inhaler
hand me my excommunication tongs
r u ok, granny?
back, and yes, i'm fine, next word, ne4ed?
granny??
oh thank goodness, i thought i'd lost my first parishioner
the ei7 pls
ummm, ei + plural letter + plural of i + not out
don't ask me what it means....
eiseine? eisinin?
plural of I, as in you and i
ei & anagram of the flu that everyone is scared of
good one lyn
eisweni?
just move that i
they're great clues, it's just i'm thick as too short planks and struggling wtih the church synod on the issue of hose
nearly, gort, switch the last two letters
ahhhh, got it, must be deutsch for "i spy with my little eye"
LOL
i dunno about you granny, but i'm exhausted from the laughter and the linguistic wrestling match i'm having with this grid
think i'll go and do something soothing, like my tax return
lovely and hilarious chatting with you
toodle pip lyn and andree if you're still aroundd
it's abeauty alright. tax return..... nah , doesn't quite make it, i'm afraid
Might take a break for some dinner too...BBL
nite gort
nighty night
and on that no4, i'll go too. nitey nite

Yes, and I am ready to leave the office but not the wonderful families
most of them will come with you tho, yes?
I have given many mothers my e-mail address to stay in touch or to have questions answered
My new office is 32 miles away from current one, so it is not convenient for many to follow me
well, that is good. I am sure most will contact you
I am stunned at how many mothers have started crying when I have told them that I am leaving
I imagine that it's a comfort thing - you have been good with them, and they trust you.
chocolate pudding http://tinyurl.com/knha2n is in the penalty box
It is affirming to me that I am doing a good job
but not surprising Scrabbs from what you've been telling us over the past while
ty fern - and good morning
Hi herin
morning. And Dr Scrabbler that is because you are awesome
But see, I practice medicine the way I feel it should be done so I don't feel like I am doing anything out of the ordinary. Their reaction shows me that they do trust me and see me as a friend
that is good scrabs - the way it should be
I think on the last day in your office they say paging Dr Awesome
There are lots of good docs in the world

i am liking this grid
bye wolvie
You need to look at Synaptics Pointing Devices or similar to fix the speed. It would be something similar than that. It looks like a square and two under buttons
bye wolvie, I have to do that in October
Later wolvie
you can even make it left or right handed
bye wolvie

I have the ga9, clues for the other 9s plz
Red you didn't miss much. I have actually broken the sound on my first Harry Potter Dvd
es7/28 - e plus a slightly misspelled word that means calm. not easily disturbed. Change one vowel
thanks Haz, great clue
thanks Haz
Or es plus what you put on the end of tang for a citrus fruit.
clue for the ga9 pls
And plural, of course.
ga9 - those who kill by a particular method of strangulation.
thanks Haz
You're welcome, peri.
ta9 - places where leather is cured.
thanks again Haz for the ta9
de9 - places where church officials live/university heads.
ty hax
That's all the 9s I have so far.
thanks!
ta haz
working on the de9 now, thanks Haz
You're welcome!
THanks Haz. I had no idea that the de 9 was a word.
for the de, that is
phone
You're welcome, red.
I need more on the de9
the word is in my head, but I cant catch it
First find the head of the university/church official, then add the ending used in wi8 to denote places where wi4 is made.
de 9 the places where you go to shop for late movie star james de**
got the de9 thanks
if you replaced the d with a b it would be the place you'd go for food that toots
NO WAY
*runs in quickly* Hobbit is off to a Proper Groomer in a minute!
that a word
Well, I am half way, things are starting to get a bit more difficult.
it sounds like where the make de***
Thank goodness for that, Ata.
At last she will know the benefit of an expert at work. And she'll smell wonderful, as well.
our vets have started a grooming service - it's wonderful, really. 2 of the vet nurses do it, and they do anal glands and everything, so actually I'll get a full groom for about £5 cos the rest gets balanced out by the lack of needing a separate bum squeezing appt
Replace the d with an s and you'd have places for Mr Connery fans to hang out.
lol
That's quite a bargain, Ata!
and thx for the w8 also
tis! and Hobbit already knows the nurses who do it, so that's good
She'll emerge a fragrant beauty.
that is great Ata, I need to take Teulu in...not sure why i am resisting.
she will. I shall take photos for evidence :)
And then compare to the husband's effort. See if he can spot the difference.
Darn it I thought orange was in the grid!
he'll say his was better, I'm sure
I suck, I cant find the first an word
He'll be able to tell the difference because motorists won't cause accidents by swerving in shock at a clipped spaniel and passers-by won't hoot with laughter.
I get Dixies nails done
I an do everything else, but I hate the nails
loooooooool yes
Right, must get some lunch. Back later for the continuation of the search.
bye dear!
goodness, can I have the first an5
Good Lord... 392 words???
Mom its not too hard.
Is the first an that which flavors licorice?
Ata I love the crabby Freddie pics
goodness, can I have the first an5
then I can get ready for school and not bother anyone till this afternoon
I only have the licorice one that I already suggested.
I have the parsley one
it is 5 & 7
an+vowel+what you plant in the ground for a flower
FReddie is such a love!
Is he the one that got locked out?
sorry... don't have it yet, Sue
yeah, he spends a lot of time under his owner's car :( I'm going to try and build him a little nest in our garden
OH the poor little guy
I know :( I wish I could just let him in here but Sily would freak
No Silly would tear him a new one
he'd tear sily one :P
he's 3 times her size lol
help with de8 pls
I think he just needs a bit of love. Its not far when winter hits
no idea Peri
de8---de + one of the seven deadly + do NOT ***er
I know .... and I adore Freddie, he's a wonderful cat, I'm going to get some old towels and an old duvet and make him a shelter
Ata..you are good
awww
I just wish I could persuade his stupid owner to let him use the catflap rather than lock him out each day!
NM found it on morewords
What about access to the laudry at night closed door or would Silly be grumpy?
he, is, however a *very* outdoor cat. He doesn't like to be inside much. We've got a porch I can leave open for him
thanks Annie
ooooops gtg! hobbit grooming! brb
*awaiting her Ladyship's return*
HI Annie later Ata
hi herin
bbs
Afternoon all Stopped by to see what the grid looks like - big would be an understatement!
Hi FM its not too nasty
Thank heavens for that a big nasty grid would be a nightmare, guess there are lots of endings and pls.
YEs
morning, all. 100 workds to go
Hi Angel
phantom: denizen
Hi Angel and hurshy :)
hi Hurshy and that is mine too
Hi FM, hurshy, angel
((Annie)) Hi there, hope you and yours are well.
Yes, We are fine. My friend is in from Florida so we are all going to a museum tomorrow (including Bobby)
How lovely, fun all round :)
Oh fun Annie
Thanks!
HAve a great time - what type of museum is it? Herin - could I have your email address?
her_infernal_ladyship@yahoo.com (i need to get into it first)
Ta :)
This time we are going to The Jewish Museum on 92nd St. and Fifth Avenue...artifacts going back 4,000 years, manuscripts, paintings and a great cafeteria
It is housed in a old mansion which I believe is a landmark.
Interesting Annie
Yah I can't remember my passwords at all today
herin, sounds like me re: passwords
I wonder where crossy is
How facinating Annie, has been ages since I had the time to meander around anything of interest outside of a supermarket and I would call that interesting!
*wouldn't
Everything is connected that is the problem
I love the cloisters, Annie... I have never been to the Jewish museum.
I am suprised you haven't heard my torrets about forgetting these damn passwords
And it has actually been some time since I have been to The Cloisters, now that I think about it..
Oh The Cloisters are wonderful...first visit to The Jewish Museum for me
Ack have to go, phone is demanding my attention. Back in a bit.
Later {{FM}}
I know that I was thinking about going recently and discovered that they were not open that day, don't remember which day it was (Sunday or Monday, I believe).
back. Hobbit deposited at groomers
I also remember really liking the Folk Museum in NYC.
Probably Monday...most museums are closed on Monday.
Yes. I think that was it. They were all closed.
Folk Museum? Must google that. Sounds like a future visit for me.
Have you been to The Brooklyn Museum? I have not, but hear it is worth the trip.
Welcome back, Ata
Yes... it is the American Museum of Folk Art or something like that... related to the Met in some way, I believe... I remember the Grandma Moses paintings and the textiles, though it had to have been 25 years ago.
mom, The Brooklyn Museum is worth a trip. I live in Brooklyn so I have been there many times
I believe it is on Museum Mile.
Good morning, educated peoples of the world!
Oh, ok... then you would be the one to listen to, LOL.
Morning Judi
Hi Judi!!
*puts Folk Museum on the list of places to visit*
I think I will put it on my list also... as it has been some time... we have done the Met and Natural History a number of times... more interesting for my daughter.
mom, The Brooklyn Botanic Gardens are very close to the museum right across the parking lot. That is certainly worth a visit. The gardens are very beautiful.
Though she is less and less interested in these things of late ... 13 is a tough age.
I have been to the Bronx Botanical Gardens... by the zoo...
The bronx gardens are gorgeous.
good morning
hi harp
I was going to truck all the way to Philly this summer as they had an exhibit on tattoo art at some little museum... got a great review in NYTimes... but she was not interested enough to warrant that trip, LOL.
13 is a tough age..
If I leave abruptly.... it is not personal... waiting for a friend to pick me up, as we have a meeting at the school....
how is the grid?
LOL, not personal at all, I am going to truck into the kitchen to clean up...be back later
Yeah... she's a good kid, by and large... it's just the whole la-de-da attitude that I could live without... I swear even if it was something that she really wanted to do she would think it was lame if suggested by her mother, LOL.
hi all
But I would rather win the big battles... she can have the skirmishes!
mom, She'll be back in a couple of years
hi jmc
well of course, mom! lol
No, no, Mom. It's not la-de-da. It's "What. Ev.Er."
Hi jm
Oh, I know!
LOL Judi... true... you are way cooler than me!
funny, judi
Her new word is "random", as in "that's random"... even when it isn't, LOL.
I love teen speak.
clearly I a going to have to read the archive as I can't keep up with this chog!
Listen, I know I was no bowl of cherries as a teenager!
jmc... just talking about museums, which led to talking about kids, you know.... random!
am I here?
My friends real name is Random
I don't know jm... where is here???
hellllooooo
well, that's random, herin... LOL!
:-(
yep yep jmc!
Actually it is a cool name.
yes, you are here jmc.. I greeted you before
ok must motor...bbl
HI JMC
wow I can see myself that was surreal!
Yep my friends name is Random. He had it changed by depol He was totally random
I must get some errands done. Be back later
bye mom sorry to miss you
Bye Mom
I had a friend whose birth name was Ransom
annie
are there any eo words?
JM that is a little scary
his initials were RAM and we all called him Ram
better than Princess Tiiaamii
ba
he actually went on to become an authority on the overfishing of the oceans
Daughter has come across a little girl in school called Meadow.
Were his parents Hippies or terrified of bad people?
Hello again, back for more words.
Ramalamadingdong.
I like Meadow. Very hippy
hi Aggain Haz and Judi
meadow soprano
no it apparently was an old family name
his parents hated me because I was a hippie
they were conservative southern baptist from Miss.
O interesting. I wonder what his heritage was
these days you can't tell the southern baptists from the hippies, everyone has long hair....
Peace and Love vs. Fire and Brimstone. Interesting.
could i get some help with the bottom row e?
By the way, remember the notice put in a British newspaper announcing the birth of quintuplets called Barack, Bobbi, Earl, Beyonce etc? It turns out they were dogs.
Ok I just looked it up
long thin fish harp
LOL, Haz. Well, that's somewhat a relief.
thanks nbt now
as I recall they had a fairly anglosaxon linage
es5/10 - almost the Biblical Queen.
is of Old English origin, and its meaning is "warrior's shield". Also possibly "shield's son" or a variant of Randolph. Used as first name mainly in the late Victorian era.
Wasn't it just, Judi?
Criminy. Down to 221 and still no boxes blacked out.
focus on one judi -- that's the only way to do that
I have been fairly OCD about it
surely judi you greyed the far right i?
it would be annoying if you didn't ;-)
Okay. Now have one of the E boxes and the I box blacked out.
wtg judi!
Thanks for the peer pressure.
lol! I thought I was being supportive!
We can stop talking about you now.
that was a hint!
can we talk about me now?
how the heck are you haz?
Yes JM?
I'm grand, thanks. What have you done that we can talk about?
just feeling kinda silly this a..
We can always make something up if nothing strange has happened to you lately.
I wont be late he says Its nearly midnight. Thing I should hog the bed tonight
I know what we can talk about. Haz got se4 to the PB this morning!!
I spent three weeks changing my internet provider at the office
NO!!
That was entrapment, pure and simple.
looool as if
do tell!
with an 8 letter word no less!
geez haz!
Gasp!
Let's use apostrophes all wrong and stuff!! :D
First grannyrose announced that she was to be a granny again and then Ata manoeuvred me into saying plural grandmothers.
If that's not entrapment, I don't know what is.
lol!
sucker
But I'm wi4 to her tricks.
*gasp* LMAO was nothing to do with me!
sigh I have to drive to New York today
You're not getting me talking about Mary Poppins, or scraped knees or anything like that.
LOL!
she's just embarrassed that I caught her out
I swear on the weekend I am going to get a burger and then go to the Lindt Cafe
like your icon ata!
Entrapment. I rest my case.
I did tell you about how peta celebrated the sexiest vegans in the U.S. military didn't I?
nooooo!
what wonderful use of people's money!
sounds good herin -- I take it you feel better?
mmmm People Eating Tasty Animals.
i must have been sleeping, i don't have any 8 letter words
This should be interesting.
No I don't feel too great but hey I want real cake.
Sexiest vegans in the military? There's a microscopic niche.
sometimes cake is just necessary
gr8/50 - plural mothers of mothers (affectionate term)
I was so livid I sent them an email to there emergency rescue line saying they needed to rescue the two legged animals in Iraq
GOOD! what an utter pile of poo
I bet the cooks in the military love cooking for them.
have you got a link?
On the other hand I was working with a Marine Vegan who was staying but protesting the war
JM what did they do?
he finanlly submitted a discharge application in which he wrote (I kid you not) "One day I realized--people are animals too!"
PETA? they se4 me a fund appeal of course! LOL
Let me guess they also want to rescue the cute fuzzy puppies they put down after service in Iraq (if they cant be um can't think of the word)
For what though JMc?
It was an ad in Army Times as I recall
that's 3 times PETA has annoyed me in the last week now!
they always annoy me!
ta9?
But what was teh fund for? sorry not following>
never mind, got it!
ta9 - where leather is cured or whatever the term is.
here: http://tinyurl.com/lovzej
Or beaches in Florida, I suppose would do for ta9.
they hold protests near one of the department stores here (anti-fur) and my son makes a point of walking by stroking a piece of (fake) fur
well yes, they always annoy me too lol, but they've annoyed me particularly in this last week!
a fund appeal is just asking for money herin
snort JM
lol haz
Dang the pair of you now I want steak
I was jumping up and down with anger for three days!
I always want a steak
Don't cha just want to put on a chicken suit and hang a sign around your neck that says "Eat Me" ?
Wow and these people wear leather boots
but jmc! it's a good cause! "The U.S. military has declared war on animals by burning, stabbing, and shooting them in unnecessary training exercises, and it's time to fight back! Animals need you to enlist in the army of animal lovers willing to speak out against these cruel exercises"
lol Judi!
My friend has one of the dogs the US uses in Iraq
actually at the Unitarians this Sunday one guy got up and made this big point how the military was necessary just like the people who eat meat never kill their own food!
and this says it all - one of the Sexiest Vegetarians: "Jane has since set sail on the Steve Irwin as part of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society." Sea Shepherd people are even worse than PETA
um, i think science, and the food industry, and the cosmetic industry could be MUCH nicer to animals. And no I am not a vegetarian.
I pointed out I had killed poultry but it did make the military necessary-- every one looked at me as though I said I had a second head
Ready to meet your match? Find your new best friend at pet breeder connection
lol trader
damn you all Now i want more food :D
there is a difference between not thinking people should be cruel and thinking that animals are more important than people
BBQ IN THE PENALTY BIN!!!
LMAO Judi
Last one in is a veggie burger!
whoo hoo I hope its ribs
Exactly, jmc.
hey i like veggie burgers
st7/28?
ok enough ra4ing
Truthfully, so do I, herein. And, I don't eat beef or pork anymore. Just because they don't agree with my digestive system.
I love the organic free range pork but my dealer closed down
Help on en6,24 please?
I cook vegetarian all the time for my Quaker friends
ack my m is not working well today
Any fowl is fair game though. Ostrich is delish.
en6/24 - to cause to be very angry
I may have to buy a new laptop :-(
All fowl is fair game???
canned air JMC, canned air for your M.
harpjane, I don't have st7/28 yet but am looking.
Pun intended, of course.
I have yet to have ostrich but have had emu
goodness -- I just couldn't and couldn't see it! TY Haz.
ostrich is yummy
ty red that sounds a lot less expensive
Ostrich tastes very much like very lean beef.
i live right next to an emu ranch but I can't afford it
You're welcome, Erda.
so does emu -- I understand they are very similar except emu feathers
Plus its makes fun noises jmc. very fun noises, hopefully it will work.
*gets this very wrong mental image of Harp nicking an emu for dinner)
*ponders* wonder how long hobbit will take to be groomed
I ne4 to change my icon brb
Probably up to a couple of hours, Ata, by the time she's clipped, washed and dried.
of course she's going to want to go straight out for a walk to get dirty again!
at least the trim wont be wonky
she'll be soooo pretty
sheesh, what word ISN'T in this grid? close my eyes, flutter the fingers, hit enter, lo and behold - it's likely to be accepted
st7/28 - st and reach the number before ten by means of a vowel.
yep. was she looking Bear like?
back
Hello smaller!
very much :) fuzzy everywhere
Hi Smaller
awww
Spangle is overdue her trim, she goes next week.
Hi ladies! Sorry if I post anything, every typed word is penalty box worthy
she'll be equally gorgeous!
Don't you worry, smaller. Just you watch out for Ata trying to provoke you into saying something you shouldn't.
hi smaller
hi smaller, how are things in your neighborhood?
glad I have a cat
libel!
would someone please accidentally type ae6 into the chog?
Resist all conversations about where church officials live, grandparents and Mary Poppins.

Ooh. Got all the Z's!

Hey Ata!!!
*poof*
fiiiiiiiiii!
you never know, hurshy!
Hello FM!
:) how are you, oh and yay Haz too :)
say, does anyone know what the plural of the hawaiian goose is, since we can't get it by adding an S?
scrabble accepts it with an s
Maybe it's like sheep, same word serving for singular and plural?
There is no plural for the goose, Hurshy.
interesting.
maybe it's one of those sing/pl words hursh?
oh wait, no, that's nide / nides. enable doesnt and scrabble ddoes
Hello, hello. And I'll be back as soon as I can, have been summoned to give my opinion on a paint colour.
ooooooops
I blame hurshy
Could there be only one Hawaiian goose, as in Loch Ness Monster?
It's something to think about.
Off you go Ata :)
you can't blame me, FMitch is right here
Let me know what you decide when I come back.

And I'm gone.....
Finished the endless G's.
I've used apost it note to cover up the part of the screen with the word stats - just don't want to know till I get near to the end.
... whenever that will be - probably some time in the next millennia.
when you take your phone off the hook
oh, i see
I need a break from this monster. BBL.
I need a break from this monster. BBL.

I refuse to stay with someone who can't be bothered to know what my favourite things are! After 7 years!!!
(((crossy)))
unfortunately i think that's fairly typical husband behavior. not universal, as i'm sure crossy is much better, but... wi4spread.
))))FM))))
he also informed me that I've always hated sausage and mash the other day
i was gonna say
when hes seen me eat it about a million times

I'm just having an anti-PETA weel, for a good number of reasons
week!
ok, I would like to know but don't think this is the place to ask
does it have to do with some of the discussion yesterday in the chog. I saw some of it
poping back in,ive read a report on peta,s ..err animal disposal polocies..and it is horrific
back soon
some stupidity I read in a book, rescue dogs, and sexy vegans in the military

some of it, peri, but by no means all of it!
will have to check it out for myself
they kill an awful lot of animals every year
they do? did not know that, Ata
do, and make your own mind up about them - ppl either love them or loathe them!
they have always had a good rep here, at least that is what I thought
Can anyone clue the ei7 please ;o)
hopefully then you have a nice lot who actually care for animals, rather than being pseudo-animal right terrorists
if I could, I would!
sorry norma, i don't have it!
ei7 ei+ anagram for hogs/pigs
Thanks harp
ooooo ty peri

an intoxicating beverage made from the last very ripe grapes picked close to winter time. A german name.
good heavens I thought it was the correct spelling for pork knuckles
I wouldn't drink it with pork knuckles...too sweet!
oh wow, ive never heard of that
I love it, if I could afford it I'd drink it after eating emu
Me too!
musica - morning - what is that clue regarding the grapes for?????
ei7
danke
ei+ anagram of pig word
got it
I have had it before when I was in Niagara Falls CN
Bitteshoen
schön, actually
I know but I can't type and I don't have an umlaut on my typewriter.
I used the ASCII code...
How do I get that?
the 2nd te7/28 plz
look in your symbols file in word
Alt + 148
tyvm
te7/38 - looks like the same structure as what Australians call their cans of beer.
I don't know any Australian lingo.....?
Or just slip an extra vowel in before the end of the racquets game.
It's what we used to call gym shoes in the 50's.
Over here they were called gutties, after gutta percha, I think it's what they were made from.
austrailians have such weird lingo when it comes to beer
How did they come upon that word for beer...because of how many ounces in a can?
anyone have de8?
It's the only one I know, I think. They call their cans tins.
de8 = de, a mathematical term running into the last letters of a canvas dwelling.
thankee haz!!
You're welcome!
thanx haz...but Im a musician and I don't know many math terms.
Try de, plus wrongdoing, then rearrange the number before eleven.
have you got ei7? looks like it probably uses the Z...
sweet late harvest reisling from Germany haursh
bother, i don't drink
frozen grapes
ei7/44 - ei plus what looks like the German word for pig, minus the ch. Or ei plus an anagram of the dreaded flu.
literally ice vino
oh, i miscounted, so W not Z! thanks!
No problem.
ty haz!
You're welcome, glad you got it.
That's because I have'nt had to much ei7 to drink yet.
it is nectar and very low in alcohol hurshy..
(very fattening though I might add)
but it's a very expensive way to gain weight!
too true
i ordered a lemonade in oxford. it had .05% alcohol, which i wasn't expecting. one sip, i said, ick, this has alcohol in it. my brother in law tasted it and asked if i had a superpower of detection.
haz, haz, the last 9 is an ne! i don't know what it is yet but perhaps you've got it while i was away
Yes, I have it.
oh goody, then you can give me a clue :)
First three letters are an anagram of the first number, add the word I clued about the Australian cans of beer, removing one of the double consonants.
Does that make sense?
Hi all. How many words in the puzzle today?
Or anagram of single number, number before eleven, add plural ending for a word that ends in y.
Worked for me, Haz. Thanks!:-)
Good!
thanks for the second clue, i wasn't here for the aussie clue i think
You're welcome, hurshy.
en6/24?
to make really angry
I was looking at the wrong en thanks
yw
How many words in the puzzle today?
Three Hundred and Ninety-Two
Thank You
*stealth hug hurshy*
Fireworks ... it is possible ... have we had over 400 or am I dreaming that?
hey (stid)
just wandering by to see how folks are. I have about 5 minutes and then I have to hunt down the assignment that is due Tuesday. *sigh*
course we have, i think we've had over 500.
YAY Merk!
Well done, Merk.
Congrats Merk!
ty, ty ... and now I am going to go get a life for what's left of my day and remaining energy.
Well done, Merk.
See you tomorrow, later in the day.
later Merk!
hey Haz! how's ireland today? My mother said they really had good luck with the weather while they were there. AND they brought me the coolest little booklet on the Giant's Causeway!
what are u studying Stid?
nante
I was SO pleased that the weather was better over the past fortnight. It's still holding up quite well.
Master's in Teaching, aeb... starts officially on Tuesday but of course I am trying to do a bit of reading ahead; and there is an assignment for the first day of class already
that doesn't work, aeb! LOL
I know I've been to Nantes
glad to here that, Haz! I am sure the critters are pleased! -- Mother said there didn't appear to be as many pet dogs as we have here... they were surprised by that.
And there were SO MANY sheep! LOL and there were cows that looked like oreo cookies apparently, and the robins are teeny-tiny compared to the American robin. all sorts of interesting discoveries they made
Yes, lots and lots of sheep. And our robins are modest creatures. The oreo cookie cows are probably Belted Galloways.
It's one of the fun things about travel, finding all the little differences.
I will tell Mother and she can look that up for comparison (the cows). There is a herd of Limousine cows down in Oregon, so many different breeds.
If they were up in the Glens, some of the terrain is so hilly that only sheep can gr5 up there. (nearly in the pb again)
quick hello while my lunch cooks. blimey, big grid today!
their tour kept to the coastline, mostly. They got to the big Aran island, and spent some time in Dingle as well as visiting Dublin and Belfast.
hey trifioso!
Hello Trif - yes, value for money today.
*grin* "Eire" is in the grid today, as is "Erin" LOL
I imagine they saw a very different Belfast to the black and white images of the 60s and 70s. There have been huge changes.
I LOVED the Giant's Causeway, but the wind was blowing us sideways the day we visited, and my little glll was pretty frightened by it. I think she feared blowing off!
Every time I drive through it, I'm amazed at the new buildings. Someone who hadn't been in Belfast for 20 years would not know the place.
yes, they said there were a number of big improvements. but a little on edge they thought, still.
People have been washed off, Trif, it's treacherous.
yes, i believe it. I really did love it, though.
it was their first trip, Haz -- but I think it won't be the last. They so thoroughly enjoyed it -- and the people they met were very nice. Which we expected.
I am always so disappointed that Enable won't accept "Ents"
We're always delighted to see visitors.
Tolkien would approve of ents
HELP - I need 1 word so that I can go to be. Can anyone clue ei 7/44?
hey science! glad you showed up -- what grade science do/did you teach?

okay, advice on working with the young end of the spectrum please? better to expect and insist on compliance with procedure, or better to let them discover for themselves why to do something a particular way? (assuming it's not a dangerous thing) -- my sense is that they need to learn to follow directions before it's critical...
later Haz! have a lovely evening!!
Bye Haz
G'night all. Definitely bedtime for me.
hmmm. stid. I think you probably will have kids that will fall into both categories. Some kids will hear a logical explanation and see the logic involved and follow accordingly. And then some kids just need to pee on the electric fence, no matter how many times you tell them why they shouldn't.
sweet dreams anike ((hugs)) be well.
Thanks Stidmama
had some 8th graders yesterday who were very openly defiant, and others who were willing to learn. I was surprised to see the change in attitude from last year.
same kids, new year -- might be "top dog" syndrome (in which case I can let them know who's Alpha!) or just normal adolescent poopy-headedness...
Some of the defiant ones don't mean to be disrespectful, I really believe that! They just are more curious than disciplined - Will my coat REALLY catch on fire if I but it near the bunsen burner? Huh. Yes. What do you know.
See you all later. Major studying to do for test on Friday.
thanks tri, that makes sense.
bye queen!
good luck narnia -- take eyeball breaks regularly!
it doesn't necessarily make them less irritating
I keep trying to make "seize" work
I tried to remember that when I was teaching high school drama - the kids who always wanted to be front and center had a need to be there. I would try to let them, within reason.
oh this is ridiculous
and my five minutes were up 20 minutes ago. *sigh* okay. cracking the whip on myself is WAY harder than making kids buckle down!
*curious mama look* what is, TO?
amen to THAT stid!!!
392 words. see you tomorrow!
rofl... TO is smarter than I am! ((hugs))
see you-all later, and thanks trifioso! *poof*
bye---eee! *poof*

after no rain for 23 days...new record..it has raqined every nite, tho not lots...just showered now..about 72 degrees
could be a pinched nerve

I am loving the sunny weather we are having even tho it is fall!
that's not rude, bug, that's how you play the game, more power to ya
Bugs- Jake saw the anger management person today
I asked how it went and he said- sorry Mom- that is between me and her
I am so glad. I do that a lot with kids. I give them 4 ways to deal with a situation when someone or something is annoying you.
sorry bubba- do not have it
bubba, it sounds like ice wine
1. walk away - sometimes it is not worth fighting over
hi everyone! how's it going?
ibd!! hi!
Hi Dawger
2. ask for help - sometimes that just means standing near a teacher or adult
ei 7 = ei + anagram of pig
hi Jen, hi DR
thanks, gortmold. that is a great clue
3. talk about it - when you are calm go and talk to the person about what they want and how you want them to stop whatever it is.
Thanks, what kind of word is that?
HE always forgets walk away!
yw
ty Gort- got it
my guess is it's german for 1 porcine problem
no, actually it means, ice wine! had to look it up
it actually means "ice wine" -- a kind of wine made from grapes that are allowed to freeze on the vines -- very yummy dessert wine
4. (the hardest for some kids) laugh about it - find a smart way to agree with them in a humourous way. ex. respone to "Your face looks funny" could be, "You should see my brother!"
ice wine is cool too
Thanks, that gave me fireworks
walk away is the easiest. it takes the power away from the bully
I like that one Bugs but true- probably the most difficult
well done bub
WTG Bubba
whooooo hooooo bubba!!

there are some non positive words there Gort
for the ne's think of the opp of positive

She probably gave him some ideas like this but I give them slowly and often have to cue them for a long time (This might be a good time to walk away because it is just a computer that won't work and it won't work if you turn it off. You have way more power than it does)
bbs- more homework questions
thanks you three, got a bunch out of that
ne + vowel + homonym of what you might call the shows you play the game with a racket , like US open

well done dorens
would you like to know what i like about americans?
???
glad there's something you like... and it is???
you rock at "rejoicing with those who rejoice" - ozzies are crap at that, but i'm learning from the masters
gort, are you dealing with the horrible "topsoil in the air" episode??
well, glad we are doing something right
Hi all, rejoicing currently that I am not at work now.
the videos and pix look like something out of a scifi movie
hey, red
yeah, i live 1300km north of sydney, and my town is covered in thick dust, i'm coughing today
folks, i am out. enjoy the grid
hi red
jeez . . .
nite, dorens!
if someone could figure out how to plant air crops, we would be a wealthy nation
:-D
night night, dorens
hi all who came in and congrats those you finished and bye all those leaving
toodle pip dor
I hope it calms down Gort. I was reading in National Geographic about one area of Aus. that has not seen rain in a terrible long time...
oh my gort where exactly are you?
hi all ye babblers, how are we this fine day?
that would be my area, red
hey, TK!
hey katie!
i live in queensland - top right corner of aus, in the drought-stricken rural bit
gort - it does mean the same thing up here... as in the first words in grid in this case..^_^
Gort, I am just astounded by the whole water rights debate in that area and the farmers dilemmas. I found the article pretty scary.
yeah, i don't know why we ozzies keep being shocked by drought - we live on the hottest, driest continent on earth, and we just can't get over it
stiddie, would you care to share that e3t 8/9 combo? the only et i have is the volcano...please?
top right...would that be near Darwin....isn't it a humid tropical area? (excuse my ignorance if this is not correct)
we've been on max water restrictions for half a decade
hi peeps!
rota
hi, welki!
oops (wonderrrrrful ... two words and off i go!)
wow gort....and we have soooooo much fresh water here....but goddamm winters too :(
TK! e + seabird + vowel
welkileh!!!
lol, hi Welki
yeah you're not too far off, jus, about 2000km south west of Darwin (it's a BIIIGG country with not much in it except dust and husky-voiced roos)
looking dr, ty!
ahhhhh, nice to see you, just! it's been too long
very long....
been a bitch of a year for me...but getting better :)
and une and lb, my closest neighbor
well gort....Canada is the second largest country (land mass wise) on Earth and most of it is frozen tundra
ok just 3 more pls: ne5/18, si6/18 and se5/10
sorry you've had a rough go of it, but glad things are looking up *clink* l'chaim
i didn't know that jus, do you live near tundra?
thx welki and L'Shana Tova :)
<-- is near tundra sort of. we have spectacular ice fields just a few hours away
no I live in Montreal 100 km from the US border
wow, what a contrast to my view
not oldie= ne5
click on my profile, gort ... the mountain there is less than an hour away from my home
yes gort like night and day...but I'll share my water wealth with you anytime
which se5/10 and which si6/18?
wow, welki, you're a lucky gal; thanks jus, i'll take your water, would you like some dust in return?
first for both - sorry, should have specified
Betchya within the next generation, fresh water will be more of a premium than oil/gas/petrol
se5.10 is plural of what you plant your butt on
keep the dust gort....I don't mind giving without a return :)
you're an angel jus, a soggy, dripping angel
si6.18 is a color, like burnt umber
brb
did lickety post for this grid?
well smite me with a salmon and bung on the fireworkds!
dr, still stuck..i got an et 6/18 out of your clue, but can't extend it to make an 8 or 9..what am i missing???
I think that means wtg gort? ! ? !

thank you lbd and just - couldn't have done it without you
can i return the favour and help anyone out before i do noble works for the Lord?
moi? I didn't do nothin....20 minutes here and still needing 300~! lol
you kept me distracted from dust with your stories of free water, that was good
si 5/18?
oh! so glad I could help then!
hi ru
sorry i got involved with dinner preparation...
hi welki
ru's snobbish
Gort what noble works are you doing, I am now curious.

oy welk! hope you have a nice heated thingy and a soft comfy chair!
anyone have the si 5/18?
welki, wow, ice fishing takes some perseverance...how do you stay warm?
ice fishung..is that what you do when you babble with a broken furnace???
what do they call those mini huts for ice fishing?
nm
mini huts for ice fishing. or shacks.
lolol shacks! that's it! (sigh maybe I should give up on this grid as I can't even come up with simple words)
staying warm isn't a problem .. warm clothes. but it gets too warm sometimes in the shack (which, in my case, is actually a tent) ... fished comfortably last winter in -25C weather
does anyone have the et 8,9 combo? i have an et 6/18 that may be the root word..may be not...only have the volczano and previously mentioned et...help please?, having et - blindness
si 5/18 is not a tendon, but a si*** (not old)
gotta go, taxi's here
toodle pip, good chatting with ya
bye gort
You prob have the most wonderful and yet simple recipes for fish welki!
salut mort
err gort
think I'm dyslexic this evening
psssst .. i don't keep usually keep them, and i don't normally cook from recipes, but you're welcome anytime to see how delicious my salmon comes out :)
ohhh ok welki...how, when, where? lol
just1, its just an enormous grid....i mean i am at 257, which is at least one grid!
and why would you think my recipes would be simple? Hmph! Well! well, yeah they are *lol*
et8/9 combo, works off the et6, add i am, you are, he she it ** + vowel then past tense for the 9
because simple is best!....Let the fish speak for itself
was a compliment welkeleh

my parents were avid fisherpeople (men)
nope, i didn't, but i do now. lots of beautiful places to fish near your neck of the woods ... i'm very jealous of the bass fishing lakes in your area
I think I may just open Lickety. I just hate to wih over 100 left still...
So, sprinkles for...donuts? Hmmmm?
well, not jealous of the lakes, but of the folks who get to enjoy them
helping TK get the et8/9 words
you'll have no prblem swith first 300 or so scrabs..lots of rhymes and families...clue...eries
Go for it, rth - not much time left!
Yeah but unfortunetly hubs owns his own business and so we can't really afford the time
TY, Kate
you'll be done in no time with the list, Red.

Well, colleague stuff is challenging in any profession.

doesnt work somehow.
My last one doesn't exist in my grid.
the word for new, how many letters? maybe that is the error.
Nite buff
the shoes are also the name of the game right? but minus double cons. right? and word for new is 3 letters, ne and vowel. right?
it is a prefix for new. has 3 letters. Like new nazis are called ne* nazis.
got that bugsaw. now the shoes must be the issue. are they name of the game minus dbl cons? if so not working.
Yes ne + vowel + an extra vowel at the end of the game to make a plural ending
we need Babble Rabble . He gives the best clues ever.
still no luck bugsaw. new is 3 letters, then name of game with one cons. in middle, then another vowel at end of game? huh?
prefix for new + a number + what the ending is on a word that ends in Y when you make it plural
game ends in s.
got it and the word. ty.
game ends in is. add a vowel inbetween
what were the other 9s clued? i dont recall.
HURRAY. I am so sorry that I am a lousy cluer
oh right, what do eagles live in that is 5 letters please?

Hi Kate. Perhaps you can help mkg better than I can. How are you doing?

TAKE OFF FIRST LETTER...SORRY
maybe if I could spell you would.... want...... you..

Kate work one letter at a time. What i do is look at the list and see if there is plurals I have missed
st 7, combo before the twinkler in sky?
did pl herin...am missing entire blocks... esp. in s's
mkg the ta 9 is a place where that happens.
st 7.8 combo

OK so what you do is you look at the list. Say you have DAG and DOG but are missing something in the middle. The possibility may be DIG
