hmm... what if you had moss instead of grass? i hear some people are going that way both for ease of maintenance and bc it requires so much less water, thus better for the planet.
I have moss over the shaded areas of my yard and grass in the open areas.
and do you have to rake the leaves off the moss too?
I don't know if I "have" to, but I do and it must be done gently or the moss gets lifted right off.
it would be interesting to know what happens if you don't.
I am trying to remember what has happened in the past when raking wasn't done before the snow arrived, and I don't recall the condition of the yard.

yes, the National Novel Writing Month... I wrote 50,000 words + two years ago, only 500 last year, and was hoping to get at least halfway this year. It's not a great novel when I write, but it's good practice

What a day! I phoned my slightly-dotty grandmother last night only to discover that she'd "mislaid her purse". Me: oh ... um ... where do you remember having it last? Her: don't know Me: what did you have in it? Her: don't know ... bus pass ... bank card ... Me: what about your house key? Her: that too Me: oh .... shall I come down and sort it out? So this morning there was a quick dash to Bognor Regis to cancel cards, re-order bus passes, and try and persuade Gran that she needed to get her locks changed. That last took over an hour and eventually involved getting the manager of her retirement complex involved as she simply didn't understand why she'd need to have the locks changed.

the NYT crossword puzzles can be done online each day and they list the 10 first finishers, the 10 fastest finishers, and the 10 most recent. well, obviously the 10 most recent is fleeting, and the 10 fastest is VERY hard bc some people either cheat or are just freakin' good, so i figured my best shot at achieving something was the first 10 list. i have been trying for ages to start right on time with the new puzzles, esp early in the week when they are less difficult, to no avail. but tonight, i did it! i'm the ninth finisher and there i will sit for 24 hours!

His teacher and i are now email buddies
