Thanks flosey and jilli. I have not been playing for the last 2 days because I had so much to do. I just got back from Victoria and seeing all my family. I plan to spend Christmas morning only with my new husband. We have always spent time with my past and this year it will be with the man I love alone (and later my sister and her husband. We have not had a Christmas dinner together since we were kids)
Jilli, very interesting icon, was just reading it
oh, thanks

107 here
I've been MSN chatting too so haven't got many words -- aiming for nbt
i keep hearing about boxing day and i have been invited to a party...not sure what the purpose of boxing day is?
Google it, vash! There's a connection with Good King Wenceslas giving alms too
traditionally - a Christmas 'box' - gift or cash - was given to tradesmen the day after Christmas day
right, for those who worked on Christmas
also for the staff in a great house
but, what about today...what do people do now? collect food/money for the poor on boxing day?
Here they just go rushing to the stores for sales :(
nbt
nah - the term for St Stephen's day just remains - bank hol here - we usually give gifts (cash) to service folk before Christmas
wtg dee :)
ty, twas a struggle :)
hope we have lickety today

love mince pies too - made lots of mincemeat this year, so lots of pies
or maybe timtams... oh, did you folks find the timtams over there?
I am making racks of lamb for dinner for Xmas
I have tried to like mincemeat, and just can't
yum ru; we are doing a standing rib roast Christmas Eve
but I think my hubby is getting sick with what I had last week, poor guy
what is a timtam?

okay .. poof time.. bye everyone.. have a wonderful chanukah or xmas eve.. or Kwanza whatever..lol
cya soon ru!
help with or 5 please... blind to it
report in on the rib roast dee after the dinner...
or + most of facial feature below the lips
k aww ty ru
or + ***ema, theatre
what are you drinking wine wise dee with the roast.. ?
good one granny
my family likes currant wine, but not sure what hubby has chosen... suggestion?
probably a red that isn't exceptionally dry
a nice soft shiraz from Australia or a nice Zinfandel from California will do it proud.
oh, I loooooove shiraz... great idea
I think we have some actually
thanks
Rosemount or Yalumba should be easy to find.
I think he has an Australian shiraz... just cannot remember the name (I know what I like, but awful with remembering names)
That is what I would go with.. especially if you are having vegetables etc
dee, himself and i are amog the few who HATE dry wine of any kind, this year we have some bottles of Brown Brothers Cienna ( red ) and Crouchon Reisling ( white ), which we are taking with us for christrmas dinner tomorrow
thanks so much for the suggestion; great one ru
aww sweet granny
if ou see either of these Brown Brothers, they are quite sweet
we could wean you slowly off of those granny over time...
I can never remember the names, I like the G wine - a long word than ends with miner
gewuratraminer
that's it ru, thanks
gewurztraminer I mean
NOWAY!!!!! have tried and tried ruru, they still make me gag
I like a lot of wines, just not the extremely dry ones usually
ah, ok, I'd never know the difference
LOL
I could do it granny.. over time
Reisling is also another fav. of mine
only way i can drink dry champagne ( or rather sparklnig white ) is with at least 4 sugar cubes dissolving in the glass
my MIL used to drink Beringer Chenin Blanc which is sooo sweet it would send you into a diabetic nightmare and we have weaned her off into dry wines.. she can't even drink the beringer any more
give it to me, give it to me.....
creme de cassis in champ... yum
Dom Perignon just rolled over in his grave granny...lol
lol
I do like astis spumante
* grin * well he shouldn't have made it in the first place!
spelled wrong ...
i am rather partial to asti ricca donna
sweet sparkling?
yes, dee, even my worldly bros, ( the jet setters ) like it
:) fireworks finally
way to go Dee
WT DEE!!!!
* WTG *
this one was tough; had to have lickety for last 26 or so
ty all; and ty granny for all of your great help
I think my hubby is getting sick with what I had 10 days ago :(
sure don't want him sick, and I am praying I cannot get it a 2nd time ...
oh, no, dee. right before chrissy. echinacea ( i think that's how it's spelled), stat, now, if not sooner
and huge doses of good old vitamin C,
hadn't heard of that; I'll check tomorrow... was told high doses of chewable vit c and zinc lozenges, so I will add the echi...
have been going around the house spraying lysol
it has a very high content of anti-oxidants, ee, if taken ASAP, can actually ward off a cold, flu
good to know
well, I need to get moving; move clothes to dryer and try to get to sleep... have a great day tomorrow granny and all!
*poofing with hugs*
nite dee
nite
night, dee.
darn, think i might have to have another mince pie, oh, dear, can you see how i am struggling with this idea?
oh granny, I'll join you
do you have whip cream?
flosey, i have cream so thick it just hangs on the spoon, no whipping needed
wow, sounds decadent
and yummy
or would you rather some brandy custard?
wow, that sounds delicious too
have never served that with mince pie
* grin * you can justsee my waist-lie expanding as i write
lol, mine's already out of control - interferes with one of the exercises the physiotherapist has given me
darn, i think my nails need cutting again....that's waist-line
* giggle * mine interferes with putting on my boot...i break out in a sweat every time
have always kept mine short
i try to, but they grow so quickly, something to do with the amount of collagen i produce, have very tick hair, and have to cut my nails using toe-nail clippers, filing doesn't touch them
* thick *
lol granny, didn't even notice typo, my son, who has been quite successful in spite of it, has never been good at spelling, everything is spelled phonetically, so am use to reading it
my sister-in-law, a beautician shudders at the thought, until he tried to file them one day and gave up in disgust.
lol, then I presume they don't break easily?
gd morning everybody
hi ruby
nope, not until they are nearly an inch long, i tried it out ONCE.
hey ruby
I'll be saying goodnight soon
hello grannyrose, there are a million roses in our families! and in my garden (not now, though)
how's old arty ritus, flosey?
ruby, at last count i have 16 different roses in my backyard
good night, all
and happy new year (whether I stop by tomorrow or not!)
freep, you done?
some days not so bad granny, the real problem is the scoliatic curvature in my lower spine, the gradual loss of 2" in height, put extra pressure on that, creating some pain
the exercises I do are to try to relieve that
flosey, me too for the bad spine, also getting shorter and good days and bad
owww, flosey. isn't it frustrating when our bodies let us down?
sure is granny, but, hopefully, with exercise might find things a bit easier
flosey, have you thought of hydrotherapy? the warmth really helps.
no, don't think it would be available here on our island granny, but I do soak in a hot bath every night
we do have a pool though and I should be doing exercises there - just have to get another bathingsuit since I haven't been swimming since leaving Ontario 14 years ago
hmm, bit of a problem. warm bath is good, can you make it deep enough to float?
well, swimming is good, the water takes most of your weight, and swimming uses muscles we don't generally use a lot
the tub isn't as long as I am! that would be quite a long tub granny
is the pool a public pool? or private ( your own )?
we have both on the island, think I'll try for the private - no we don't have a pool here in bc, had one in Ontario - some summer nights it was the only way to cool off enough to get to sleep
sorry, flosey. in oz land, bath tubs are usually nearly 6 feet long.
wow, interesting granny, have never seen one that long
* grin * the ONLY way to have a bath, totally submerged.
obviously there isn't any water shortage there?
our tub is longer than I am and I'm afraid I'll drown in it. If I fill it I float.
I fell asleep in the tub once, woke up by a wave coming over my shoulder as I slid down
well, yes there is, which is why it' a long time between baths, lots of very quick showers.
well, enjoy chatting but 1:15 am, and I must get some sleep - still lots to do tomorrow to be ready for the first 2 to arrive
we have a shower head which only runs at 7.5 litres per minute, which is a third of the average flow rate
hope it's a good night for you flosey, and season's greetings to you and yours. hope you have a lovely day
ok, goodnight now, will be popping in and out tomorrow hopefully to finish
ty and you too granny and ruby
have 79 yet to find
bye flosey, sorry, annoying interruption -- husband!!!
nite flosey, and lol, ruby, have the same problem here
really should go and lie down for a bit, we are go5 to church in an hours time.
ours roses: husband's mother, my aunt, his granddaughter's middle name, my first chow chow, and more!
Go on - off you go - feet up for a bit
Hi Ruby & Rose
hi lynx
lyn!!!!! wishing you a very happy christmas, and you, too, ruby. maybe here for the flip.
granny: don't know how many kinds of roses, but they are all in shades of pink, salmon, violet, red,, dark dark red and white
ruby, have also tea roses, cecil brunners, apple blossom, and a lovely apricot
aaah
I'm afraid I don't know any of the names but some are antique
[like me, lol]
some lightly scented, and one is called perfume perfect, and it is
nice
and me!!!lol
now, i really do have to say good-night.
good night, maybe see you before Chirstmas is over!
Bye Rose, have a lovely Xmas day if I don't see you
* poof *, have a good one where ever you are.
Good morning everyone.
hi Elder! how lovely to see you. All ready for Xmas?
Hello Lynxx :) nearly have to dress the tree and vacuum around and that's about it.
Lynnx what how about you do you celebrate ?, and if so are you ready ?.
see you later have to go cook
I always have near panic attacks a few days prior...on the theme of I will never get this all done.. but I eventually complete everything :)
Bye rubyfoo.
Fairly traditional - doing ham, turkey and duck this year with pudding - complete with thruppences. Doing some prep tonite, with most in the morning. Only the table to set
bye Ruby
no panic for me, just take anxiety-reducers!!!
v calm
Lynxx I wish for you a wonderful time who ever you may be sharing Christmas with and a wonderful, but peaceful New year.
ruby.. :)
and I wish exactly the same for you Elder, indeed for everyone
BBS just going to make baste for ham while husband does the prep
merry christmas elder, we are only an hour apart. I'm in France.
Ditto.
Where in France are you Ruby?
near to Annecy in the foothills of the Alps
but I'm American, retired here
Oh.. Lovely... scenery. How long have you lived there do you manage ok with the locals.
You American are similar to the British we get everywhere :)
11 years and the locals are very nice and my French is OK luckily, since nobody in our little village speaks English
it's beautiful here; we are between the mountains and lake Annecy and see both from the house
Had you been on holiday there / France. Just wondering why that part of Europe .
I knew france from my first marriage when we travelled, and this place was located correctly, was the right size and was affordable, just needed a lot of work
Wonderful. Do you return to America or does everyone come to visit you :)
I go back from time to time, most friends come and visit but my husband has never gone back!
must go now but it's been v nice chatting with you, elder
and you.. see you again another day and have a lovely Christmas.
definitely! and have a very happy Christmas!
bye.
can anyone tell me a site that lets you search for words by the number of letters in the word and a couple of the letters you know are in the word?

Bye Elder..... Same to you... xoxox
bye elder!
Good morning/evening all. Just popped in to say hello and to pass on the good news that my daughter has made it onto a flight out of Edinburgh. Yesterday, there was some doubt as to whether she would make it home for Christmas. She's on her way! So major relief all round.
Great news Haz!
Happy News Haz !
and I found the go9 !
I know! I could hardly sleep last night with the knot of worry. I'm not normally an anxious person at all, but this caused me some stress.
Great news for you, too, Aussie!
So, now I'd better get on with preparations. I couldn't gather myself properly yesterday at all, so time to get the house into shape. Enjoy the grid!
Merry Christmas!
And to you mom, and everyone. Bye for now!
*gone*
I found the so9 too...
Well, you are just having a banner day Aussie, LOL...
:)
I have to get in the shower now so that I can go to work... ugh! Just until noon, though... then I am off until day after Christmas at the crack of dawn, LOL.
I am back to work Boxing Day, midday too Mom2, so I feel for you !
I work in a bakery, so I have to be there at the crack of dawn... but then I am home early...
OK... off to the shower. Merry Christmas!
I work for a supermarket food chain. I have to work midday till 10pm.... Merry Christmas Mom2...

Was it my recipe, mari?
Hi all, btw.
Hello, folks
Greeting and Happy Christmas all.
how come 'annum' isn't a word??
sleigh is packed, reindeer fed - got time for a few more shots at this...
Because Enable is a pernickety dictionary?
indeed it is!
i typed it in about 10 times thinking i must have been spelling it incorrectly
yes Jacula that's exactly the one
yay for mari she found the recipe
Hi mari :)

Just read your emails about the lucky charm, Jacula. Pleased to be of assistance!
Hydra - It seemed to work. I was so glad to find the lost presents.
Hope you have a fantastic Christmas!!! And that goes for every Babbler everywhere.
Same to you, Hydra.
Mr Grumpy has been working at the butchers since 5am, the poor thing.
This is a tricky grid. I've only found 39 words.
it is a tricky grid

Merry Christmas everyone if I don't see you later.
I have to make marmalade. See you all later. I am poofing!
'Bye Hydra.
'Bye jmc.
Merry Christmas everyone
Same to you, rosalind.
hello and merry christmas to all
Hi TO.
Hi Jacs!!!
56 down, 101 to go - fat man in red suit will arrive before this is done!
If you find the words you cannot find first, you will not have to struggle with them later.
hohoho babblerabble
we are one g short of eggnog today. is there any in the pb?
well ok ... bye all
good morning babble friends!
babble rabble, if you are still here --- your poem is fruit for much thought...I get the intended meaning, of course, but couldn't help but wonder WHY the man never knew his parents would miss him, or that he was important.
good morning everyone;)
a steady diet of "oh, of course dear, we don't mind..." leads to a man who thinks they don't mind.
good morning crosshair!
all set for tonight?
yes indeed:)
I hope santa fills your stocking with bacon, dear one!
2 presents left to wrap,a ham to bake and 48 sugar cookies to make and im done
mmmm bacon stockings....
I will tell you some day.
let's see, here I have gingerbread men to crank out, mr. hates presents to wrap, and a house to clean.
But I love you, so it is all OK!
we are having the dinner here, rather last minute, due to a septic failure at my mom's house
good morning car!!! Can't wait to see you tonight! I still look like a disney witch, but hey - I will be there!
thanks BR
Oh, and the herpe on my face, encircles my head like a wreath! We will be a pretty pair!
we are having dinner at the in-laws
LOL
are they far away, crossy?
just an hour and a bit,if the roads are good
Merry Christmas to all of my Babble Friends! Thank you for being one of the BEST parts of my year!
merry christmas car;)
it's snowing again here, car -- is it snowing where you are? (said in winnie the pooh voice...)
Trif...is it snowing at your house?
SNAP!
Be careful! I have a headache and mush brain today...if we share a brain, it could affect you too!
two girls, one brain, two halfwits
9 letter word starting with g
nm got it
I am supposed to be typing right now...just don't want to.
babble is typing
I don't like this grid.
my headache is actually much better today, but my face is still wicked sore
Not patient reports though!
Wicked!
i hit NBT without really having to think about it much, Car, but now....not so much
Good for you! No such luck at this end!
My fear of vowels is debilitating me!
one more g and we could have had eggnog
Yummy! Yes please!
I have come to dread the letter i, it is true
gold in5, pirates like 'em
hi car and Trif and hurshy
merry christmas eve
hello hurshy!
I did find that one!
and jbv too!
there are 9 in baseball, unless it's a shutout by the 7th or it's a tie in the 9th
Hi JBV! Merry Christmas to you!
and hursh, proper name, the thesaurus guy
in + my ducks are all in a **w
the quote is made large and in5 into the main body of the text to draw attention to it
whoops, right after the word i clued, i used the next word
atoms missing an electron (or having an extra)
ty, hursh, had all the weird ones, not the preposition!
metal or unwrinkle. add vowel. pl both.
atom word made adj.
Hooray! I just found a C word all by myself!
how very cu7 of you, car!!!
OK Hurshy...just need the E now for NBT!
well done hurshy!
Yup! That was the one Trif!
some guys have big eg4
and if that g were a p you'd have another word
plus long long long times and then make that a sort of adj.
? sort of adjective?
eo 6 if it started with i, it's a sea near greece
well i say sort of because the eo6 is not actually related to the eo4, i don't think
HowDy, hurshy .... good tidings
Got it! TY!
of comfort and joy
All that, and I still only have 50 words! OK, I have got to go work now! BBL!
help....totally lost here, car and hurshy
and peace and goodwill to all- Hi BabbleRabble
long time + actor mckellan
there we go. thanks hurshy!
and may I add in my peace and good will wishes to you all! this will be my second babble christmas, and I could not be happier to have found such a wonderful community of wonderful people. A major, major blessing
HowDy, JBV
Quite true, Trifioso

Hi All. No time to play today, just want to say Merry Christmas to all!!!
the snow here is so pretty! those great big slow snow flakes that dance on their way down. just lovely
mc hego!
hi hego - have a great day
quote
you don't have to give us a gift, hego, you can just wish a merry christmas!
I can't go to the pb, I have to leave.
hego drops in with a flourish!
aha, caught in the no-time-to-play-but-putting-in-words act!
Blush
Bye All, have a good one. HO! HO! HO!
i'm sure we've all been guilty of that.. i know i have.. hello all
hi doren - celebrating a long vacation, i'm sure...
yup... and happy to be doing it.. you too?
oh, yes, i love these long days at home
this was fun: driving the girls the other day, and secondo, age 13, pipes in with "mom, wanna hear a joke I heard at school today" "sure honey" "what's the difference between Tiger Woods and Santa? .....Santa stops after 3 Hos" I about drove off the road!
well, my pass through the grid has found 4 8's but no 9's, and all the fours.
not a bad pass, hurshy
go 9 so 9
no more 4's makes monkeying harder
i actually have to it a few stores today, but intend to avoid the malls
have to Hit a few stores
that makes me think of sound of music, brabble :)
do so la fa mi do re, do so la ti do re do
the little one with the singing voice
and both of those 9's have at least two different directions we could be looking at
oh dear, suddenly i am in a hurry
found the go 9

Merry Christmas harpjane. Need to get my harp regulated. It is horribly out of tune and needs some new strings.

he died before we were married, was 58 when hubby was born
I never met my fil he died before we were married
fil was active in the early days of unions, worked with Joe Hill, did a lot of writing about it which mil destroyed because it was controversial
wow.. she destroyed history.

lol ru, enjoy breakfast with wifey
that is awful, flosey
still waiting for hubs to get up
well aslindy, it sure did not endear her to me!
I cannot imagine burning pictures of your own child..how sad

visiting the inlaws in Lubbock
not very active, though
i noticed that too, about the FB groups, not about the snow in TX.
and hi all
"Babblers Worldwide" seems the most active
snow in Lubbock is frightening thought
Hello all....I usually lurk but wanted to say Merry Christmas and just mention that my hometown is MULESHOE, TX, not too far from Lubbock! 8^)
hello gdine! Merry Christmas to you, too
my birth town is Houston, TX
hi gdine
hi gdine.. Merry Christmas to you too (-:
Thanks....I don't chat much because I keep forgetting to put the cursor back in the Add Word box. I'd have to live in the PB!
Gdine are you in Muleshoe right now? I always think of feed lots when I think of Muleshoe!
clue please for ri7/36 please?
speaking of granddaughters, time to read a Dora book.. (-: see you all next grid.. poofsy for now
back for a few more;)
bye Aloy
jmc, Houston is a world away from Muleshoe. Different climate and different accent even
trust me gdine I know :-)
I left texas when I was 29
Soodle wanders into chog, Santa hat @ jaunty angle, and humming Jingle Bells..........
I still have a southern accent, but it is not the one I grew up with at all
now i am in DC and near you at ft meade
Flask.. r + what baseball has 9 of, unless there is a tie
ri7/36 - like the Cheshire cat that's lost its g-force.
crossy gives soodle a dark spiced rum and eggs nog;)
ty haz and aloy
hey crossy
I've only lived in TX for 5 yrs since I graduated from college....a LONG time ago. The 5 was spent in College Station...
Why, thank you kindly Crossy :)
howdy jmc
yw, real poof.. (waves bye to Haz too)
now am bamboozled!
Hello! Just passing through to say hello and Happy Christmas to all. Bye Aloy!
Flask, the expression g****** like a Cheshire cat.

Blessings to you this Christmas and always, Haz -- and everyone!
Hi Haz, an a very happy Christmas to you and yours
wow it is crowded in here today!
Thanks, ch1212 and Soodle.

Heyas kids ..

hi again, got sidetracked with a lengthy instant message from daughter, will leave now but want to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas, flosey!
Happiest of holidays to one and all ..
Have a great one, Flosey
jmc, I don't know anything about a meetup in Baltimore...what does that entail?
You're welcome - just thought of a Christmassy clue for ri7 - Put the place where there was no room in Bethlehem in the midst of one of the five gold things in the song. Now tell me I'm not twisted.
we get together for lunch gdine
cute haz -- do you need help getting untwisted?
dcseian posts the details on his profile
special christmas present - hobbit in a christmas cone
Ah, well I'll keep an eye out for details, but it will depend on life events. We are a navy family and up for orders soon, so it depends on the move among other things....
bye flosey merry christmas
I've been twisted so long, I'd end up being crinkled and that's as bad as wrinkled.
But it sounds like fun...and I do have friends in Baltimore as well....
i understand gdine
refresh <-
*heats up iron*
That poor dog!
poor hobbit!
Is it stuck on or just artfully arranged?
roge

Judging from what I see here I'm sure it's a lot of fun....
that was a hint jmc
Is the tinsel blue or purple to match the collar?
well we tend to be a tad more reserved in person! (probably a good thing)
well if that was a hint sea it was too deep for my foggy little head
it's bluey-purple, just because it was pretty
it is pretty in an abused animal sort of way

anyone have a clue what g******* means?
means i still need that word it seems
are you asking what ri7 means?
or do you need another clue?
well, I've got the word...but no definition for it...I don't think it's a real word...but it was accepted
I got the word by the clue given...but Mr. webster has never heard of the word...
PB for you JMC ir4!
"to run or melt"
which word?
well it is enough that enable thinks it a word
ir4? when did I say that?
ahh about haz's crinkles! rats!
how long does Hobbit have to wear the cone, Ata?
When you offered to straighten me out.
*takes her laundry to the PB to work on*
another day or two I think
that's what I get for being helpful around here!
clues for the mu's??????
4
I really don't think that ri7 is a word...Word 2010 doesn't recognize it, nor Mr. Webster or Mr. Roget
clue the ne7?
mu7 - to rhyme with John, who wrote Pilgrim's progress.
well take it up with enable :)
D2dap - The dictionary used by this word game thinks it is (a word), that's what we have to accept, unwillingly at times, I admit.
haz - double cons???
thnx haz
Yes, it sounds like his name, ends in a charge particle, if that's any help.
got it now thanks!
ty haz
That's good.
ne7 - five letters for no longer acceptable term, two letters for not out, but backwards.
ty je!
ty haz
ty haz

OMG. OMG. wow.
LOL BR! thanks for the tip!
what a HUGE dog (of course I know it's exaggerated by camera angle, but still)
howdy stid
My father played the melodion Outside at our gate; There were stars in the morning east; And they danced to his music. Across the wild bogs his melodion called To Lennons and Callans. As I pulled on my trousers in a hurry I knew some strange thing had happened. Outside in the cow-house my mother Made the music of milking; The light of her stable-lamp was a star And the frost of Bethlehem made it twinkle. A water-hen screeched in the bog, Mass-going feet Crunched the wafer-ice on the pot-holes, Somebody wistfully twisted the bellows wheel. My child poet picked out the letters On the grey stone, In silver the wonder of a Christmas townland, The winking glitter of a frosty dawn. Cassiopeia was over Cassidy's hanging hill, I looked and three whin bushes rode across The horizon - the Three Wise Kings. An old man passing said: "Can't he make it talk" - The melodion, I hid in the doorway And tightened the belt of my box-pleated coat. I nicked six nicks on the door-post With my penknife's big blade - There was a little one for cutting tobacco. And I was six Christmases of age. My father played the melodion, My mother milked the cows, And I had a prayer like a white rose pinned On the Virgin Mary's blouse.
amazing poem soodles
One of my favourites!
who wrote it?
Patrick Kavanagh. A wonderful poet.
thanks. I will look him up. Now I am down to 95 and need to do a few things for school (now only a week and 5 days away, vacation is half over!)
back soonish. (mini poof)
Hi everyone, I am finding this a hard grid today. Maybe I am just tired?
hi, all. Merry Christmas!
Hi all, Merry Christmas.
Hello and Good-bye all! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Small grids during the holidays please. So much to do.
And this is not an easy grid, even if it is small.
And why is negro not a word?
hello
I'm going to have to feed the cats or they won't leave me alone bbl
don't everybody welcome me at once...
-soodle, I just got on and loved the poem. Thank you!!!!

any clues for the mu's? i have the mu4
na6 - slang for head
mu7 rhymes with the veggie that makes you cry
oops, sorry ... not my day ... bad clue
origam, that is the no6 which I have but ty
NM
I don't understand the clues
na 6 rhymes with a branh of the US military
*branch
ruby ... click on the lickety babble clues link below the tile stats ... gives list of first two letters and point values
ty peri for the mu
potato chips and jellie beans for lunch!
sounds like a perfectly balanced meal
rubyfoo, hello, we were all new at one time. clues are the word starts with the first 2 letters, next how many letters in the word, and last how many points. na6/18 is what was just clued at 1:12
this is v hard! Merry christmas evrybody
go9?
on the balanced meal, I'm making sure I get my fruit-flavored jelly beans
ew ew ew
and potato for starch
clue for second no8/45, anyone?
hi grant, i don't have it yet
hi babblers - merry christmas eve - no8 is a labor term for workers who are not organized
thanks
good clue. sadly i have to go to target. wishme luck! merry holidays all!
OKOK, thanks JBV
the other is anti and what you don't put in the newspaper
disorganized workers? that would be me....
penalty box atro
good luck atropos, I just got back from Macy's and JCpenney at themall - it wasn't bad at all - no long lines, etc.
oh never mind, target was in the grid yesterday, not today
i took out my wrapping which was sotred in the base ment and lots os tissue was shredded. ewwwwwwwwwwww
uh-oh TO - you've had little visitors!

sorry to hear TO. But the nest is lovely, though
hello, and happy xmas eve :)
ew TO! bummer
so 7 is italian plural for a singing voice
crap now besides thrwoing out the chewed stuff what do i do???
Target and Walmart are open
no i will not get a cat thought that is the best thing
we had a robin's nest with strands of tinsel left over from a christmas tree one year - it sparkled in the sun
happy christmas eve to all. i kicked the container and nothign came out
rodent bait TO
ty got it
hi all again
no then you have stinky dead rodents god knows where
there are both kill and no-kill traps
i think moving is the only real option here
them or you?
me
btw all i am listening to Christmas stream for wxpn.org my friend robert drake if anyone is so inclined
You can always grab the new mouse traps from Ortho. My parents are using them and they work well...Apparently their cat was sleeping on the job (he's getting old)
forget about it TO don't forget on Christmas eve, not a creature is strirring, etc.
no rodent bait makes them thirsty so the go outdoors and die
because they are rodents they can't throw up
with my luck i will find one trying to drink from the tap
no8=scabs
exterminator at work says they crawl into something and expire
lol TO you are so pessimistic you always make me laugh!
if you have any children around, you can tell them a great story about the little tiny christmas presents being wrapped
time to brave it and wrap .
well if they die in the walls it stinks like hell for a week and then goes away
lol jbv!
I am PESSIMISTIC?
Hello to all on Christmas Eve Day. Lovely day yesterday with Babblers in Portland, OR.
hello gmere
I only say that, jmc, because we had a chipmunk in the house once when my son was small, there was enough material there for a year full of stories
how fun stid!
hi, stdigmere, glad you enjoyed :)
lol well that may not be quite the right word TO but please take the remark in the fond manner it was offered
lol i bet jbv -- are you familiar with the Borrowers?
how was the meet up stidg
Hi Temple Owl, I have no words at all. Jumped right into chat. I am a lady of leisure today with a quiet foggy sky and birds swimming in all directions on the inlet.
oh, yes, we enjoyed that so much
*toddles off to kitchen for dreaded christmas wrapping* should have paid the mall wrappers *grumble*
I on the other hand always assume I can eat the moldy gross thing if I just cut off enough of the bad part! -- I am way wreckless
We ate well, talked lots, and laughed often. Does life get better than that? Plus, we bought books. I picked up a little book of Le Tres Riche Heures.
bye TO
be well, TO :)
bye TO hello Mother hey all!
Tre Riche? is that like Old Riche instead of Nouvo Riche?
so do i assume the vistors are still here?
hi stiddie
lovely book, stidgmere, such a treasure
Happy Festivus!
well if they didn't run out they may be go4 since it is cold and that is the time they generally come indoors
and hi stid!
for the rest of us!
Festivus for the Rest of Us
Mother, stidmatt appears to have acquired Tom's cold... I shall arrive later with the other one, but I too am being a lady of leisure today!
snap
LOL Tor!
No, its really Les Tres Riches Heures du Duc de Berry. It is the one with lovely pictures of the palace that preceded the Louvre.
*wonders when torg's airing of the grievances will begin.*
*gasp* they tore that down to build that awful baroque monstrosity???
the Louvre was closed the day I went there :-(
* getsa out a chair and a drink to watch feats of strength*
indeed so, stid
well here's my grievance: I can't get all my babble friends together all at once. *sulk*
Well, it is part of the foundations of the Louvre.
I have no grievances to air except that I am a bit groggy from staying up too late last night ..
so the louvre shall be my other grievance today. *more sulk*
again tor? still jet-lagging?
*imagines a grand international babble gathering with various tents and lots of food and booze*
staying up late can be fun
I bought an espresso maker ..
yummy, torg
you will never sleep 8 hours again...
But stiddie we wouldn't have enough cabana boys to go around
oh dear tor! the beginning of the end! LOL
A grievance? One of the Amazon gifts won't arrive until after Dec. 25. What a petty thing to grieve. Should be more monumental I think.
I had too much cafe sua da ..
my si went on a cruise and i asked him to bring me one back
that's a small thing indeed Mother!
my grievance (if we are sharing) is that I haven'tbeen able to pr5 out the thank you notes for the Center I need to sign
hm. we could import cabana boys. how big should we make the hot tub?
Where shall we Babblers meet. The UN building in NY? Antarctica? Paris? Somewhere in England (my vote.)
we couldn't get our printer to work earlier... I discovered the "on" switch wasn't!
grievances? where to begin, where to begin... ;)
we need more than one hot tub -- one for nudies and the other for the more formal
we usually just leave it on and turn off the power strip instead
i vote GB.
oops *looks for way to distract TO*
Tom has stirred. I guess that means i should dress shortly.
definitely. And out of sight of each other! *imaging a lovely screen (pink of course) between hot tubs*
pb stiddie
Formals in a hot tub? Where have I been all your life?
pb who? what? why?
what is tom stirring? mocha? soup? rofl
I will go to GB in August but not any other time -- too cold
trying to figure out why PB
hot tubbers who wear a bathing suit stidg
pr5ers stiddie
me too. we are one g short of eggnog today, did you notice?
no pink stiddie
but but only the root is in the grid, not the word I used!!!
We need to work around the 2012 Olympics I think. Shall we go in 2011? Is anything happening in that year? I hear so little about it.
no I hadn't notice TO
2011: stidmama and stidkid#1 graduate...
eggnoir seems like a very bad recipe. I won't use it.
perfect excuse for a party, IMHO
hiwever, that does not mean we cannot stock the pb
but if the root is there it is pointless to write a word with it in it
oop brb
I suggest lovely cakes and cookies for PB
ok going wrapping i fyou hear screams you will know why
What is pb?
oh! I know! I can be the official PB stalker for our grand gathering!
must away {poof}
later TO, good luck. *awards TO the bronze roll o' tape for wrapping under pressure*
later seain
penalty box
Oh, penalty box. One phone call home I suppose.
bye TO
nope. but all the choclit you can eat! LOL
I want to be the security detail for the gathering then
bye dc!
oh! I got another no 8!
that way I can throw anyone I want into the PB
I really want eggnog to work
okay jmc... you may patrol the chog...
How secure can Babblers be?
I think we should also have scrabble tables and boggle and...
*puts on badge and gets out foil bobby hat*
egg nog works if you put whisky in it....
Mother! LOL "how secure" indeed!
I am thinking we are mostly insecure stidg
true enough harpjane
harp just exactly what I was struggling with a way to say!
wow. it's noon already.
we need a dress up corner too
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!
of course we're insecure (does this G string make my butt look too big?)
*thought slowly creeps into head* have we heard from any mid-section babblers today? do we know if Jellen and Tim are on vacation safely? I see the weather back there is horrendous.
ack I thought I had NBT but need an E word!!!
hi jade
hey there JMC!
JADE! you're in the midsection!!! are you okay? what's up with you? where have you been young lady? *stern mama look*
go jmc go!
back.
hiya, jade!
I think it needs sequins to distract the eye harp
heigh ho9
Jellen and Tim were able to get out, yes.
hi dorens
hi, dorens
Hi stidmama, dc! Things are cold here. I have to work tomorrow.
ho9?
hey doren!
no--ust heigh ho...have no idea how the 9 got in there, sorry
good. I am glad they are off on the big vacation. thanks seain.
I was wondering if that was something very clever I wasn't getting? lol
wb DC
i am using this teeny tiny acer notebook scrabbler told me about... i am still low on the learning curve
sequins... good idea jmc
too bad jade
(didn't anybody like my harp string joke?)
hope it goes wel, jade
Meh....just means I get the time off another day
doren, the acer is what the elder stidkid uses for school. netbooks are nice for weight, a little harder for the typing and scrolling screen
ooh didn't get that part just recommended the sequins
LOL jane - just went back and read it
well i am glad it doesn't ruin your day Jade
It would ruin mine.
harp, that was very funny, in fact just relayed it to tom who thought it was silly.
I think having work is okay, yes jade? and do you get to wear a fun hat and such?
you can have my foil santa hat jade
there was a pedal harp at the boys' november concert, harp! it was so lovely... but I cannot remember the piece it was for. it was gorgeous though
I get to wear whatever I want to keep me warm, stid. I am going to have to be out in the cold and snow in the middle of the storm. I'll have to find my santa reindeer headband
Good Lord how insecure can these word mongers be? I need to warm up lasagne and am going to poof for now.
i still can't figure out how to see chat and clues at the same time.. think it is not possible on the teeny screen. and the mouse thingy works much too quickly for me... can't control it
brrrrrr. *gives jade the 8ft scarf jesdraggon made*
bye stidg
46 to go, back after another shot at the Church Music Vortex!
lol...thanks stid
oh stay warm jane
I have a trackball I use, doren -- it's easier for me than a regular mouse and plugs right in to the USB port
later Mother!
*imagining dorens being pulled around b a mousie*
later harp!
bye harp
bye harp!
this isn't a mouse, it is some built in thingy which is much different from what i'm used to
jade your Betty Boop looks like a scarecrow in the small icon version
LOL, jmc!
i will either get the hang of it or figure out how and when to bring it back to target.
brb checking on thank you notes
I think perhaps I shall get myself going too. was up in my jammies hauling the garbage can down to the road; luckily the truck man saw me waving and backed up for me! LOL
see you-all later! *poof*
(I have these odd visions of the small icons from time to time)
bye stid!
later stids
bye stiddie

How is Christmas so far, Lynxxx? Has Santa done well in Oz? I saw a Santa in the supermarket--elderly man that truly looks like Santa, with Santa hat + outfit. I said, "Good luck with your travels!"
I will nap soon and might skip dinner with friends tonight. I am so tired and cranky.
*hugs Scrabs*
BBS--must make phone call
lol Scrabs...8 more minutes b4 I start the morning rush, stuffing to make first, then biscuits. I think Santa dropped a few things off

pr 8 - what one of Santa's reindeers is doing
hi, BabRab, hope you're well
ty jbv for clue.
Sadly, Tom's got a migraine, so we may not make it to mass tonight after all. I'm rather disappointed, as i was curious to how it would be at the Catholic Cathedral in DC.
yw - I was thinking that was a fitting word for today
Hello
hi, sadie and red and bichon
sorry to hear that seain, maybe there's still time for him to recover??
don't know much about migraines (fortunately)
yes, there is, jbv, so we'll see. :) Choral program at 23, mass at midnight
should be beautiful
in the natonal cathedral? gorgeous. and nice accoustics.
i used to sing in my church choir - loved midnight mass, that and holy thursday, the two best events
no, not the national cathedral. that's the Episcopal one. Rather, at St Matthew the Apostle downtown, which is the Catholic one.
one christmas I remember there was so much snow (1964??) we practically had to swim to church, but i didn't miss it
i dont know that one, but sure to be impressive.
much rain that year, jbv?
ok i will quit wishing that uranium is in the puzzle
don't remember rain, I meant swimming through the snow :)
so 7 pls anyone....???....
i think it was the year that Mayor Lindsay got into trouble because the streets in Queens never got plowed
ah, okay. :) here, it often rains this time of year. the fact the we have snow now is unusual
seems like we used to have a lot more big snowfalls then
and i will quit wishing that irrinium is there also
jbv you are in nyc?
science, italian plural for high-voiced singers
i grew up in NYC oodle, now in NJ
yea it does seem we had more snow then or just cause i was smaller seems more
ty dc what about the blasted 9?
scince, masc diminuitive of that for the so9
ah I was born in NYC (Richmond no not virginia) grew up in the state of washington
senor
oops sorry
off to the pb with you saide
lived in jersey from 64-70
bad me bad
thanks sadie!
richmond county is staten island - is that where you were born oodle?
poh gee what a word thanks!
i would never have seen that!
yes jbv
at the time it was one of the burroughs
hey crossy?
and you are the first one who new that jbv
people don't refer to it as RIchmond, much, most people just say Staten Island
hello all, 20 left and stuck in the po words, cannot find either po5
well that what it says on my birth certificate... it was at a naval base there... which doesn't exist anymore
I lived in NYC For my first 30 years, oodle, i'm a city girl through and through
staten island, they have a interesting boat graveyard there.never seen it but on the net
crossy crossy crossy!
found the 2nd po5, a plural!!
ata!!
may I ask you a question?
crossy gives ata a mistletoe kiss and a mug of spiced rum and eggs nog!!
about cats and Canada!
ooooo! *blushes* TY!
go9 ahead ata
are there are secret funds available through charities etc anywhere for street cats to be spayed to stop them having a gazillion kittens?
i've never seen it either, crossy, must put it on my next tour (boat graveyard that is)
duh, NM
I was in NYC at the time of the twin towers and we never went on our european trip my mother and I were going to go on. we opted to go to montreal since I knew about it and visited it before. When we went back though we stayed in Manhatten and I was not impressed.
we have several generous vets in the area who offer thier services for free or defray the cost and work hand in hand with our humane society and animal shelter
last cr 6/27 please
but what if there aren't? if the local vet charges C$400 for his services?
then we must rely on donations
cr + your skull is your cra****
hmmmmm
there are on average 450 stray cats in our shelter at all times
omg!!! that many???
bichon that does not work
nm got it ty
indeed oodles, but we are winning the war,we are fixing them as fast as we can catch them
one of my friends - and a babbler - has a semi-stray cat that keeps getting pregnant and having shed lots of kittens, but the local vet charges just too much, and I'm trying to think of ways they could get her sorted
ohhhhhh ok that's good
she's in canada, but not in your area, I just wondered if you knew of any resources she might not
cr + opp of out + a hesitation in speech
yes, there is a resource(in ontario called "st vincent du paul" it is amazing what connections they have, and if they cant help.they will know who can
usually run through the local catholic churches
aha, ty! there are always places to help, I find, *if* you know where to look
indeed
ar 8 pls????
and the local kennel club also has resources
nm
tyty I'm feeding these to her on msn:)
think of music for the harp
ty got it bichon
only un's now
un and what you write with and plural
un and not closed
what your friend should of done was turn the cat over to the shelter(assuming they have a no kill policy like ours) let them fix kitty then turn around and adopt it;)
Ata!! amd hello all/
it doesn't have a no-kill policy, that's the problem
(((crossy)))
the 2 kittys we rescued cost us a mere 75 dollars each to adopt
FM!!!
((FM)))
Did you get my email re the weather report?
the shelters nearby will just kill :(
yes, TY!!
:((
Oh good :)
oh so not all of the shelters necessarily have a no-kill policy?
this grid has the greatest collection of weird words I've ever come across
never heard of a shelter with a no kill policy is that just in canada cause I never heard of any with a no-kill policy in the states
Seasons greetings all, just passing by as shutting down for th night and I wish everyone a good day tomorow and may 2010 be a good one.
oh lovely,we have a freezing rain warning for tommorow
ours is a special set up oodles
FM, I have some vids for you from Uni of the shed cats :)
I'm going to email links to them in a sec
we have not killed a cat or dog in 5 years
this grid is ugly
just around your area eh?
it started ok but is now ugly
except for medical
just in town
pringo should be allowed
hello everyone
we have a pop of 17,000 people or so
Thanks Ata, will piick them up tomorrow, must head out now but had to say Hi and now bye!

anyone here know how to upload a you tube vudei ti facebook?
what a bull does to a matador vpchat
video to facebook
just link it and it will automatically give you a posted thumbnail of it
temple - go to the youtube video page, select the "link" info (as opposed to the "embed" info) and paste it in.
how?
or just go to the video, copy the url, and paste it on your wall
thanks ruru
TO! Merry HoHo!! *Bouncing off the walls with a tinsel dress and a ppcorn garter*
i see the option to record and the option to upload from my drive
UNI!!!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSX4J6h lSdA
**popcorn
I really want it to appear as in you tube with the screen where you click to begin
Lori and I have been thinking of you - she wants me to wish you the warmest of seasons as well
if it's from youtube, you don't want to upload it, you just want to post a link to it ... it'll do what you want it to do
Temple - copy the url from the address bar of your browser
Aww - me, too, did yo uget my emails?
try it .. no good, delete it
excusae my ignorance but you just post it into the comment box?
Then, on your Facebook home page, where it says "What's on your mind?", paste the url.
noooo, not to get the arrow you want
in the comment section, post, "watch this," or whatever you want to say ... then,
IT WORKED TY!
then click on the little third icon box .. it says LINK
there ya go :)
should be watch this? what is it?
I feel like I got an Xmas e-mail from you, but I have been a little out of it with the exam season
it went away and became an unlinked link :(
bbl
and i don't know how to unpost does anyone?
unpost to Facebook? There's a hidden button. Scroll over directly to the right of your post and a "remove" button will appear.
got it ty!
it is El Vez sining feliz navidad
Facebook has a pretty lousy interface - it's tricky to get used to it.

thanks katydid and welki! LOL bugs
how about the ri 7?
he hit a home run during the 3rd r******
she must be welki. she is also making a double bed quilt and brushing her teeth while doing this grid, I bet
ro 7 is the name of the inventor of x=rays
that is SO not a WURD! LOL
nah, don't want to get toothpaste on the fabric (the fluoride bleaches cloth)
really inge? *thinking*
so are the so 7 and 9 not words either stid
such a strange spelling, though ... isn't it, inge? doesn't it really have an e in the first syllable?
the 2nd cr6 please
GOT it! great clue inge!
cr + alum****
hey tijani
Americans tend to change the Umplauts, leaving out the e
took me forever to get the ro names .. i kept putting the e in :)
is hte SO 7/9 combo fishy
it should be oe or ö
no, not fishy at all ... think a woman, an opera singer with a high voice
...different last vowel for the so7. then so7 + el ni**, that crazy wind
got it, welki -- italian plural (sorta)
weather pattern, i mean :)
sorta
got them both!
so 7 is a Latin plural, the so 9 ends in Spanish word for child
two left, the first and second UN words please?
danke sehr, inge!

no8/45 #1 please?
un + two vowels,
un + M*** had a little lamb

sweet dreams TO. feel better. **hugs**
are you pissed off or something stid?

I worked today too.. everyone is soooo disorganized and forgot to order wine here and there...
what do you need stid
I am disorganized too, but that's okay. I have another week to pull it all together again.

Bravissima Stid
yeahhhh stidster...
bye bugs..
what is the icon theme tonight?
both ar 6/18 please
and the ar8/65 please
ar 8 is a shortened musical movement
a+ flower with a vowell in the middle
thx ruru
hey ru .. decide on the girl or boy pup? last time i saw you, you said you were considering changing your choice
'course, you could take both (but my breeder discourages that practice, won't sell two siblings as companion animals .. why is that? bonding issues?)
I have to wait until the temperament testing and the critique when they are seven weeks.. I really like one of the girls...
The usual reason (and your breeder is right!) is that the pups would bond with each other instead of you and ignore you and your commands. and become problem children
i gal i work with does Safer testing for the municipal animal control authority ... a bit different, i would think
(guess i picked the right breeder :)
I am getting a working dog.. so the testing will show the characteristics that I need
you did pick a good breeder..you really did
field variety ... did my homework. what kind of fieldwork?
We are going to do competitive obedience, tracking, agility, and show.
to 5/16 please
lol ... poor bax. i have failed him
a word for a hat in french to + ***en Elizabeth
thx welki
back
the one thing i'm not happy about (as far as baxter is concerned) is the way he eats ... and i suspect this may be at least partially the fault of the breeder. she fed the puppies around a round dish (looked sort of like a stainless steel doughnut ... looked like a puppy sunflower) ... he eats so fast, i think because he's a "competitive eater"
There are things you can do to slow him down.
i've tried feeding him by hand, special dishes, feeding him by himself ... so afraid of bloat, but don't know what else to do.
ruru is going to make his dog WORK? *considers implications* well I guess that will make him more affordable
does he overeat, welki, or just eat quickly?
YOu can place two large river stones in the bowl that he will have to carefully eat around ... that slows them down...it isn't good for them to eat fast
now, i see a stainless steel ball (about the size of a baseball) that you can put in his dish to make him move it before he can get to the food ... but that doesn't really change the behavior
no, he doesn't overeat .. although i've never given him the chance to overeat, he's trim
The other thing is a bowl that has little pillars in it and he has to carefully eat around them...you can order them on line.. i can get the name of them for you
his bowl has three tall projections in it ... i see a tiny difference, maybe the rocks will help (if he doesn't try to eat them ...
My friend's boy inhales food..
LARGE river stones welki
not rocks
round soft edges
yes dear, i was making a joke. you really think i'd put pebbles in his food? LOLOL
stidkid #2 acquitted himself beautifully at the restaurants yesterday... LOL ate almost everything of his, AND some of mine!
<-- lives near the bow river, lots of good candidates there
try that and watch him
never tried putting rocks in my boys' meals, but that might keep them feeling full longer...
the other thing is to feed him smaller portions and split the meals
*wicked mama gr4*
will do ... as soon as the snow melts
it is rough on the toilet bowls later though stid
evening all
merry christmas eve everybody!
HI Pini and Dan2
hi, dan .. same to you :)
hi pini!
hi ru, stid, welki, dan2, et al
It is a tough one welki..
hey dan. hey partner-in-crime!
that would be true ruru...
stid...we had portraits done today! (will post next week when I get them)
* giggle *
wonderful! I was hoping your day would go well!
so7/32 please
tom didn't even flinch when he saw the receipts! I guess after almost 20 years he is getting used to it! LOL
it was rushed, but worth it!
he's a funny dog ... trained enough to sit and wait until i give the go-ahead to eat, but then *SLURPCHOMP* until it's all gone. the border collie is a dainty eater
never got to ask -- did you manage to get funds to your child in time for gas money?
like the opera singer is the so 7 with a different ending vowell
welki...baxter must be related to koda!
oh oh, better go check the water for my supper. brb
I did, stid! she was grateful! :)
It is very hard to break that habit welki.. good luck..maybe the rocks will help
he may not be related, but i'm sure they're friends ... baxter is friends with EVERYONE
are you on the prison diet stid?
koda will wait for his "eat" command, but once release will woof it down! (I put a porcelain ball in his dish - made especially to try and slow him down)
it helps a bit and I acually hear him CHEW every now and then
that probably helps I bet..
I am a fast eater too...
thx ruru
sometimes you have to eat fast so you actually get something to eat! :)
that's why i think baxter eats the way he does
yep.. but do you feed the dogs near each other?
that's the way it was in my house growing up with 3 brothers!
<-- only has one dog ;)
(nods head)
(that was for welki pini)
* snicker * ;)
so5/10 please
radar like on submarines is so 5
thx ruru
:-D
it doesn't matter, ru ... i've separated them, completely separated them and it doesn't seem to make a difference. you think i'd have to do it consistently for some time before a change?
...hmmm... I would feed them way apart.
in fact, murray could care less about meal time. he saunters over and eats, leaves and comes back ... except i have to call him back or mr. sneakypants is likely to inhale murray's food, too
definitely, welki...that's what my dau did with her 2 beagles...and she taught them that were only allowed to eat out of their own bowls which are distinctly different.
you coulld crate him and feed him too that would prevent that
back. testing the new vegan/gluten-free "mac'n'cheez" mix I got from the gluten-free store.
sounds interesting, stid
i'll feed them in separate areas tomorrow and see what happens
oh I thought you were on the prison diet stid
pini, wanted to tell you how much Mother enjoyed yesterday! she is looking forward to our nert visit
might help a bit welki
on my way out to friends but wanted to say Merry Merry Happy to everyone
prison diet, ruru? *worried mama look*
happy happy merry, DR!
he can get bloat from eating too fast.. do you feed him once or twice a day or more welki?
HI DR... same to you.
ty Stid! and Ruru
twice per day, ru
tell jake that stidkids say hello
I think you do the best you can with that welki...some dogs are just that way.. our Lily was that way
and i'm terrified of bloat/torsion ... so we do the dish thing and stay pretty close to monitor him (when we do, he's not as bad)
pr8/60 please
I will... tell them he says Hi as well
sort of grand ballroom movements tijani is the r8
but now i'll look for river rocks or those dish balls ... every little bit helps
I found my porcelain dish ball at PetSmart (if you have those up there)
ro 8 is plural of ro 7: anglicized spelling of x-ray inventor's name
it is unusual for boys to eat that aggressively
got it ruru
this mac/cheez thing is WAY too salty. next time I will not salt the noodles.
yep, we have those stores (but still had to go to the states to have a whiff of your no. 1999! lol)
my husband is convinced it's because of the 'daisy-dish' feeding style
I make homemade mac and cheese.. but not gluten free
I think I will go back to the vegan sauce we make from scratch. this one is just too salty.
but it does taste more like the stuff I remember from childhood. *sigh
no.. I don't think so welki.. that is how most puppies are fed
our pups ate out of they and aren't problematic
good evening babblers and merry christmas to all of you (going back to my party after sneaking in a few words!!!)
Hi ENo..same to you
hello enomis!
well, I should get going (have to put some dishes together for the roadtrip to dau's house)...have a great evening if I miss any of you later ... and Happy Holidays if I can't make it back tonight!!!
it's pathetic to be that addicted!!!
hugs pini.. have a great evening
well, i'm going to straighten up this place so i can relax some this weekend (and go fishing). Have a happy, everyone!
*blinks... addicted? who me?*
have a wonderful evening, pini. (((hugs))) see you soon!
bye!
see you later welki
bye welki catch some rocks...
not addicated, no no no!
byw welki merry christmas
think I will start making dinner.. stid has gotten my stomach going...
bye pini :-( merry christmas
hi jmc
hi ru
hey jmc
hi all
hi all... merry Christmas Eve.
enjoy ruru -- don't oversalt it! LOL
hey mom
Heyas kids ..
Just finished making my stuffing for tomorrow and my cheesecake... now I can try to finish the grid I started at 5 AM !
I don't cook much with salt.. I tend to use herbs and other thins
things
hey again tor --
TORG!!!!
I didn't salt this much -- it was the mix, I swear!
Turkey is in the brine ..
stuffed cheesecake... *kernel of an idea forms*
the mixes are loaded with salt..
I just do not fuss too much with it...
what is the sodium count on the box stid?
LOL stid
good question... brb
I made chocolate chip cheesecake... hubby's fave.
guesses 350
it says 210 mg per serving. but we rarely salt our homecooked food much
210 is high... but not too high
choc chip anything works for me!
i always make mac and cheese with mac and cheese and not boxy stuff
well, I am not worried about my health from the occasional salt overload, but I have to say it's not as nice to eat as I would like
Chocolate chip + cheesecake = win ..
I LOVE real mac and cheese, but my kid won't touch it, LOL.
I can't eat the mac, and I can't eat the cheese, jmc, was trying a "safe" boxed style to see if it was better than our usual home-made substitute. it isn't.
OMG Torg... it is sooo good! I want to cut into it now!
brb my son finally is admitting I live
yum torg *steals a piece on the way out of chog*
if you skim just a little off the top, mom?
annum is not a word? Like Per Annum???
Hello all.
I know mom, frustrating isn't it?
hey gwenski!
No.... I will wait! Maybe my parents will want some with their coffee when they get here, then I will have an excuse.
good idea!
good to know I am not that braindead stid...
how are you gwen?
Hello again--I have not enjoyed this grid so I keep running away
Now the idiot cat is running around the house hissing at himself... he does not do Christmas well...
I'm doing well, thanks for asking. Got twin-grandkids on the way!
Scrabb... I started it at 5 AM, got frustrated and am finally back!
Silly cat--is he excited about Santa's arrival?
Fun, Gwen
hey cousin!
Idiot + cat = redundant ..
Not so much.... he just knows something is up... eyes the tree, wanders around hissing... every year...
so I see from your profile, gwen! how exciting!!!
Hi Stid & family!
rofl tor
Wow Gwen... that is exciting.
Torg... he is actually fairly bright.. he even fetches! But in this case... he is a bit of an idiot, LOL.
Haha, Torgone
This isn't a very friendly grid, is it.
tor, how much espresso have you had today and have you considered decaf beans?
Not so much gwen
It stinks, gwen ..
I am struggling to get halfway even with the list!
it had it's moments, gwen ... but there are some real stinkers today
Well, in that case, I'm going to the list NOW.
do you think that chocolate would help the salty taste go away? *yuck mama face*
list, gwen, list!
Chocolate helps everything.
isnt annoint a word???????
true enough! *looks at stidkid and "requests" choclit*
hey mkg
yes, mkg it is, but it isn't in the grid today
One n, mkg
with only one 'n', though
OMG... I am peeing in my pants... this cat is going to hurt himself with the hissing at nothing, I swear... maybe Santa is here, LOL1
actually enough Ns but the i and o are reversed
Or elves?
roflmao mom!
ghost of christmas choclit past?
yep. choclit definitely helps
Yes Scrabbs... elves makes far more sense! Either way he is NUTS!
back in a few, want to check email
both pr6's please
hi tijani
hi scrabs
In the early days of my marriage, wife adopted a barn cat from one of her friends .. It did not like her equally stupid dog and tried to climb the Christmas tree a few times .. It went back to the barn and we never had another cat ..
This guy is afraid of the tree, afraid of the lights, etc... basically afraid of his own shadow.
Animals are funny
on n doesnt work either anoint. nope.
It's a phantom, mkg
the second pr6 please
He gives new meaning to the phrase "scaredy cat"... he still runs from the sound of running waer.
grinch is my phantom, LOL.
oops... meant water.
pr6 = Now!
TY, Tor
dont know torg
Sorry Torg... don't have it... swear I would have given to you if I did, though!
That was a clue ..
i dont know
OMG... I just got it Torg... LOL!
Right away, stat, now = pr6
It helped me, Torg.
gr5 please?
got thx
Football players often suffer gr*** pulls.
gr5 = The site of most hits on "America's Funniest Home Videos"
yipes it is a phantom. oops.
Hi all. Merry Christmas Eve
Hi Sukee... Merry Christmas Eve to you, too.
Happy Christmas Eve ..
all of the or's please
^^^^^^ - t ..
i am suprised to see so many of you on grid tonight. since i am jewish we dont celebrate xmas but for the rest of you isnt this a night to celebrate with fami ly and friends?
+ plural
Some of us are far away from family.
torgone, i dont see that clue. it is blank and then says -t.
Had to finish some cooking and whatnot... husband took daughter to sister's... they will be home soon and my parents will be with them, as they are staying over... I am cooking Christmas dinner... so, I needed to be here.... So, it is just me and the crazy cat.
thx torg all i need now is the 5/12 now
so what are you supposed to do on xmas other than go to church? that is a one hour mass right?
TY for gr5
Some of us prefer to stay away from our families
or + movie = ***ema ..
I cannot stay awake for late Mass
LOL Scrabbs.. I was just about to say I am glad I did not have to go.
thx torg
Some churches have candlelight Christmas eve services. A few have Christmas day worship.
OUr church services were at 7 PM tonight.
So I am here alone for tonight. Tomorrow will be a challenge but I will get through it
so what about tomorrow? do you go again to church?
And on Christmas, mkg, we have breakfast, open gifts, and then have dinner... so basically we just eat a lot!
scrabbler, where do yo u live?
Morning service. Prepare food, lots of it. Await arrivals. Smile + stay silent whenever possible.
We never went to church on Christmas day. Usually spent it with family: opening presents, eating, napping, etc.
Most churches have only one service either/or... Catholics tend to have midnight mass on Christmas Eve and then services on Christmas Day, as well... but either service will satisfy the obligation.
southeast of buffalo, in rural area
scrabbler, just looked at your bio. pediatrician? nice stuff. are you on call?
very interesting for me to hear what you do for xmas. thanks so much.
I was on call last night, worked and made hospital rounds today, off til Monday
You are welcome.
scrabbler, i am sorry you are aloone. i would invite you for a meal if you were nearby. so sorry.
My family are all on the west coast
I thrive on solitude though, so I am fine.
well scrabbler, enjoy the rest then if you were on call etc. and enjoy the grid.
Hi sukee
I am jealous Scrabb...
hi all and merry merry
must be difficult if you have no local family.
nu 6/24 please
Hi other Gwen
why jealous mom?
Just me and my cat tonight...I like being alone also :)
Are you happier at work now, though, Scrabb... I remember a while back you were miserable...
Because she does not have to work until Monday... I have to be at work at 6 AM on Saturday.... ugh!
Oh, yes, new practice environment is a dream come true. I am SO fortunate!
(does a double take) other gwen??
Since we're not gathering with family this year, we're going to have some friends come over tomorrow afternoon for some game time.
Hi other Gwen!
My plan is to serve dinner early and shuffle them all off to Buffalo, LOL.
That's great Scrabb.... glad that worked out for you.
ah, there you are, hi gwenski!
As an introvert my energy gets sapped in social settings, especially with more than just a few people.
scrabbler, you sound like a soul mate for my hubby. a doc also. hates socializing. hates small talk.
My husband is extremely introverted... all social situations are difficult for him.
I could have gone to 2 friends' homes tonight but I chose to be here and have quiet
I can identify with that, I am awful at small talk
Haha, mkg---I am an INTJ personality type
But he says that as he gets older he has realized that the larger the gathering the less anyone really notices him and what he is doing, LOL.
nu6/24 please
In social settings I sit back and observe human behavior---fascinating
wish I had it tijani... sorry.
Yes... he notices way more than I do, as I am usually chitchatting, flitting, etc.
the older I get, though, the more of a hassle being "on" is... so, I just don't go to things I don't feel like going to.
Good for you, mom
I associate with the introversion ..
Hello and Merry Christmas form Aus
Hey herin... Merry Christmas to you, too! What time is it there?
there's an nu6? don't haz it
I have been reading info on Myers-Briggs types--neat stuff
Hi in Tasmania, Lady!
Its 2pm waiting on Turkey
I am extremely extroverted... can talk to a wall, LOL... but the older I get the less I want to!
papal n-----
OH, good for you!
How is Christmas going? 10 pm here
nu6-woman in a habit + spy agency but change last letter
TY, Eva!
do not get me started on personality type pop psychology BS (oh, hell, i got started)
That is where the INTJ came from, right? I could not remember the name of the scale (if that is the correct word).
Its good fun. Nice to be with family
hello everyone. Just popping in for a brief babbling while waiting for sleep to come.
thanks scribe
thx scribekd
Feel free to provide clues, Eva
a bit late-
I'm still minus 79 so don't have a lot of clues to give
go5/14 through go7/44 would be appreciated muchly
Sleep? As one just diagnosed with sleep apnea, I'm looking forward to the night when I sleep well.
back
I have used CPAP x 2 yrs and it has helped so much
Hi JM
I have just started. Hello Eva and Merp
go7/44-greek mythical creatures I think and the plural of go6/30.
I was just going to say try a CPAP machine, LOL.
go6/30 and 7/44 are the sisters of medusa
Also souns like the beginning of a blue cheese variant
I need a 2nd sleep study to determine the right machine/mask. Study hasn't been scheduled yet.
go6/30.... monsters from greek mythology and plural for the 7/44.
TY for those...now I must figure out go9
Good for you jmc.... I did not remember that they were medusa's sisters.
thx mom
np...
:-) jeopardy noted tonight that pegasus came from medusa when her head was cut off (which i didn't know) so it reminded me
go 9/78 please
Gwen is that twins?
I give up on go9--help for the ending?
yes... I saw that, too.
Don't have it... was going to piggyback when someone clued it to you, LOL.
sorry i don't have it yet
I think I am giving up on this grid... going to try and find some chocolate around this joint.
looking now
Off to check dictionary
Yep! Twin grandbabies, due in late June
seems like something that long might have the gerund ending, but can't find it
wow. I have never ever seen a twin ultrasound before
go9 = previous go6 plus suffix meaning "of that group"
They are about 12 weeks along in that picture.
go9 has adj type ending and uses a different n, thus my obstacle
Very exciting, Gwen!
Wow Gwen and thanks JMC
got it
found the go9, ack, already been clued!
What is the other 9 please
which go6 jm> The chasm one?
I have no idea I just searched the archive for the clue and now still looking for the go9
I think the other 9 is so9 from what i remember from earlier in teh chog
Yes, the list says so9/60
the go6 of the sisters of medusa
so it builds on the go6 related to the greeks?

crossy passes around some after 8 mint chocolates, some toblerone and a big bowl full of rum and eggs nog and vanishes into the snowy night looking for the north star.......poof!
OK... got it finally... thanks.
bye crossy
It cracks me up that it takes that, but won't take Irani.
me too
so help me get it --- everyone else has it and i can't see it
Now we not only have phantoms words, we have phantom choggers, LOL.
I love Toblerone. TY, Crossy
Not everybody. At least one of us doesn't even know the sisters of medusa!
I must admit I have never had toblerone....
Princess D***a <---ending for go9
jmc... do you have the go6/30 that is NOT the chasm?
it does begin with the medusa and then a three letter ending which can be an adjective, or as said, describe someone of a certain nationality....
ty scrab
Merry Christmas to all
and clues for the so9?
the nationality clue would have tipped me over
Merry Christmas lbd
OK... so does anyone have the so9???
Thank you
gwen go6= Al Go*e + go4/6 minus final letter
hi lbd and herin
high female voice + spanish word for small
hi JMC
thanks jmc
thanks lbd
omg... what the heck does that mean??? LOL! Thank you lbd.
Thanks lbd!
i wanted the go9 to be the cheese! lol
OK.. it is a musical instrument... apparently popular at the turn of the previous century... LOL.
?Spanish for small
poco is small in spanish
actually small boy, scrabs
the recorder family (instruments) has one called the so9
Think of the California wind... El ni**
I've seen a so9 recorder
ty for the clarification lbd!
I'm lucky I speak English.... LOL.
what did it look like gwen?
it's an italian word-ending (meaning small) on the root word used in opera singing for a woman's high voice
a clavicord?
i've been tipping the baileys, so brain is only partially functional
probably like a recorder???
Like the soprano version, only smaller
jack and i are having a nice time tonight
recorders are straight flutes (as opposed to the transverse flute, as you seen in an orchestra)
Bye ALl have a safe Holidays.
bye bye herin
bye herin -- Merry Christmas
OK... thanks for the clues on the large words... this grid is too annoying for me.... Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night! I have to put stuff in the stockings now.... *poof*
night night, Mom2
my was required to learn recorder in elementary school so I should have known!
Good night and Merry Christmas mom
bye Herin, merry christmas!
bye mom
Bye herin
got s09 finally...this grid is humbling + humiliating me
I play with a recorder group from time to time.
bad grid to humiliate scrabs!
Long words, twisty words, new words....
there is also a te5 recorder in the grid. hmmmm
te6 please
Our recorder group normally plays with just soprano, alto, te5, and bass instruments.
Tightening or stretching muscle, Scrabbs.
te6 is a muscle that stretches or tightens
Hi all and HAPPY CHRISTMAS.
Hi Jacula!
TY, Gwen
happy christmas, jac
hi jac Merry Christmas!
and there is in the grid another old musical term, pes (archaic term for a repetitive harmony bass line)
I was not given the musical portion of the brain, gwen--musical moron here
Do you mean the ar8, Gwen? Just got that, thanks to your clue
gwen, nope, not my clue, don't even have that one yet!
ar8 is striking individual notes in a sequence, rather than playing a chord
just found it, tho, tanks. (ar8 is a broken chord, in other words, the three or four notes of a chord played one at a time, instead of all at once)
So which word was your clue referring to?
ty book
i said pes. it's a real word. (not worth any points though)
ri7 clue please?
let it ice, let it ice, let it ice!
Hi Jen
ri7 = if it had a g at the start, you would be smiling broadly.
pickin and gr/
hi Jen
TY ladies
ri7, like walking really really fast, but with an i

go + think you wear on your finger, like a wedding or engagement circle thingy
last go 6 is gerund of mr al go**
I suppose I'd better be go5.18 now. According to NORAD, Santa was in Germany at about midnight our time, he must have reached the UK by now. I'll get no pressies if I don't go to sleep.

night night, jac. Merry Christmas!
Sleep well, Jac
enjoy sugarplum dreams jac
no, I mean that to like someone who is so caught up in their politics that relationships are not important is too bad... it's disappointing.

Goodnight Scrabbler. Best joys for tomorrow!
oh dear. I am lucky my tom is not jealous like that.
night night, Scrabs. Merry Christmas!
of course if he were we probably wouldn't have gotten married.
exactly
this particular pink panther episode has the panther SPEAKING! *look of shock*
the panther speaks?
my son konws about the time his dad and he (at 2 years old) went camping with a friend of ours and a bunch of quakers and the three stayed in the same tent
and it's about the panther stealing deboors diamonds.
everyone asked me if my marriage was okay and I rofl
he does in this one, LBD. and now the deboors guards are shooting each other...
*grin* I suppose that's the best test, isn't it?
people can be so nosey and weird.
like you could do anything in a tent with a 2 year old!
indeed so, LBD
merry almost christmas friends!
if i couldn't trust my beau i wouldn't marry him
hi feather!
hello feathery one! how are you? how are the chillens?
Merry Christmas, Feather!
Merry Christmas also Featherbee.
the children are nestled all snug in their beds!
here's one where the panther has insomnia. counting sheep... so many sheep... finally asleep.
good place for them feather
now the sheep begin to bleet... roflmao!!!!
hello babble friends! waiting for the kiddos to fall asleep, and back to wish you all a very merry christmas!
i'm listening to the end of a christmas carol, read by patrick stewart

jm! i take it you don't like his version on the screen? it's my absolute favorite.
all your presents wrap without event TO?
*makes warm water bottle and warm milk and warms a blankie in the dryer*
i am quite enjoying the radio program I am listening to at the moment, so I will listen to mr. stewart later.
awwww! of course, i was listening to it long before he made the movie, so perhaps i'm pre-prejudiced.
he did it as a one man stage show for years in the early nineties
oh mother! forgot to tell you the boys are wearing their new jammies! they look so good in them, thank you.
really? I like George C. Scott better
hellooooooooooo feather!
they will call tomorrow to say thanks for the books.

hehehe, haven't watched Mr. Magoo in ages.
i always like Mr. Magoo
I don't like this particular
"pink panzer" episode -- about how nations escalate and escalate. perhaps a good lesson, will have to talk to the boys about this later.
how many un- words are there tonight, please?

thanks lbd
i LOVE the muppet's version too! showed it to the kids at school yesterday.

feather!
good for you TO, I hope you get to sleep in in the morning?
my particular area actually didn't get hit by the storm.
maybe
oh, I see. wow.
i know, i was very bummed too.
I was thinking how nice it would be to have three weeks off this time of year... a week and a half, or even two weeks can make it seem so rushed.
