just found a co8...perhaps a bit later th4 most but nontheless found...
still looking for that co7 called way back, heh
this ductionary needs to be updated - halal is a word
have a co7/52 . . .
and perhaps "halon" as well, it works on one site I play
not seeing the sy's
dictionary - a ductionary is a list of all th things you can do with grey tape.
I have co8 I'm sure it has been called
great minds, melon -- was thinking the same thing LOL!
ROFL, melon!
yeah, I called the co8
have sy 5,6,4 but don't see the other 6
8s: ac, an, co, cy, ha, la
nan, do you have the latin plural?
we are quite a bunch. I wouldn't be surprised if we all started looking alike one day. . .
need a cup of tea, brb
it's close to the 5/6, nan
I figured it was called but I haven't been paying attention since I found my name in the grid that was so exciting
tx grem!
lol melon
and it's a real word, west
I know
nice triangular fer, west :)
*fern
thanks that one wasn't as hard to find
what is your flower?
I wish I knew, west
no -- not seeing it
ah -- got it
10 left
only 4 sy's?
I love that word conjures up such pretty pictures
I only have 4
wait, I only have 3
missing one S though
now 4
you're using lickety's list, right, gremlinn?
I would if it were up
grem we're almost even I'm missing 9
ooohhh
the ooh la la worked
is the la8 a common word?
nope
no, but find the la6 first, then work from there
nevermind, I meant the al8, I have the three la's 6/7/8
phant cloaca(s/e/l)
I keep inventing cool words here.
there's no al8, just ac8 and an8
so is the al8 common?
I'm losing it.
ac8 is plural -- common word for candle lighters in church
OK, the an8 is IT common?
no
I have the others
nope
an 7/8, melon
ty une
:-D
7 left (all on different starting tiles!)
I have an an7, so let's see here. . .
jilli, your flower looks like a hybrid dutch iris, no?
still need the an and the la
I have the Freudian an7, is there another, or does the an8 grow out of it?
the la is leaving a hole. . .
an8 is a plural an7
not the freudian an7 - a different one
my an7 is a verb and uses the S anyway!
it's a different an7 (there are three)
that's what I was wondering. So, should I know this an7/8?
it is an iris of some kind jilli.. we have them in the yard
maybe not
thanks, ruru -- I haveirises too but they don't look so triangular
japanese or siberian, jilli -- they're triangular
Une's doggy has a very triangular face :)
oh, that la combo was actually 6/7/7/8, I missed one earlier
OK grem - hint please?
so I've fallen asleep already...back in tomorrow
:-D
bye, pav!
true, melon!
it uses almost the same letters as the ac8
bye pav sleep well
gnight, pav
brain dead here -- leaving the rest for tomorrow
tx! I thought I had tried that, 'parently not.
good night nan sleep well
3 more 7s and I can gotto bed!
nite, nan :-)
two 4s and three 5s left
you can do it grem !
over halfway :)
may as well not use lickety now even if it updates
go, jilli!
brb
wow, good for you jilli
my 7s so far: ac, anX2, co, cy, en, ha, laX2, so, un - anyone {grem-cough-linn-cough}?
it's a japanese iris, jilli -- here's its cousin: http://tinyurl.com/yzgqb45
missing et7 and ta7, I think
and one more
also an is x3
yeah, miscounted there, that's the last
is the et chemical-ish?
don't know what it means, doesn't look like it
ah, just hitting keys til something registers, eh?
it contains a word that animals scratch you with
melon -- e + claw (and plural)
tx une
yw :-)
thanks Una
hi and yw, flosey:-)
we have a friend who has those, at least, that's what they look like
OK I'm down to the ta and the missing an (not the Freudian or the one one letter off)
I'm down to 4 still
ta + anagram of "not open"
- which is to say I'll e=accept clues. btw, grem I only aim for halfway, NBT, and all 7+s, I'm nowhere near fireworks
ohh, okay...wonder how close west is now
whoo - can't even type
to the PB, grem!
we playing taboo or something?
flosey, are you talking about the flowers? beautiful, eh?
I'm not even grem lol
ah, powdery!
and that missing an????
yay, melon!
no Une, the word you clued
I love having a cheering section
do you have the an4 which was famous in ancient Egypt?
yep
oh, ok LOL
the claws
:-D
I'm looking for the last an7, I have 2 that are only one letter different from one another
Une, when you get old, I guess the claws get thicker, and when long, they tend to curl - look like a crows
**crow"s
do you have an an7 which pluralizes an6?
I don't grem, can you clue it please?
no
if not, it must be an an7 which extends an an4
an + co5/12
an + pine ***** fall from trees sometimes
tyty Une & Grem
muah! grem -I can sleep now - mediocrity attained!
nite, melon!

hi all late flip
good night une

I changed my icon and made it to halfway but think I must head off to bed. Happy Babbling everyone
YAY gremlinn!!!
hi and bye bugs that's pretty!
good one, bugs!
une, I went to that link and it showed an African iris, not at all like this
Lickety-style word hints in my profile
she's gone jilli
thanks grem
oh, thanks west
thanks grem
hi west
are all the u words un?
they're all in alpha-order, too
hi dart !!
yes, west
I have 7, 4, 5, 5 missing?
another 5 at the end
thanks
u's undone
hi dart
hi jilli
are there 2 sets of cy 7/8's ?
I thought ML called them at the beginning
just one set
yeah, that confused me too for a while
thanks been driving me nuts
yes, I was desperately searching for the second set when ml called them
sent us on a wild goose chase!
lol
we'll have to speak to her lol
maybe making false calls can be a theme next April 1.
Dr G will probably have a good grid for us that day..no vowels
cwm, cwms, crwth, crwths, pht, phpht, tsk, tsks, tsktsk, tsktsks
and maybe a brrr as well
I'll write those down lol
pfft
and a pfft
still not finding the an7/8 set
and maybe an alternate of brrr, can't remember
jilli: it ends the same as the ac7/8 set
think freud jilli
unless there's another group
forget what I said
of course, if you don't have the ac7/8 yet, that doesn't help...do you have that?
I'm thinking in Welsh
I don't have either, any clues?
one is altar boy/s
I do have the ac7/8...
our church didn't use altar boys
change one letter, jilli
ah, finally! Thanks, grem
oh, I just looked up the derivation of the an7 - it is formed by taking the "an" from an an5 (not on board) and combining it with the last 5 letters of an el11
a chemical word
of course lol
so happy to hear that, grem! :D
golly -- too many C words!
cute kitty pic for you jilli
I like kitties too
how sweet
oh darn, dart -- I just get a blank square with a little red x in the corner -- I'll try refreshing
just got her today
does she have a name yet?
awww....
my wife likes sasha...so it might stick
I like that too
how about sushi?
oh, dear little tiny-wee! (refreshing worked)
sitting on my lap now along with laptop..kinda hard to type lol
naughty gremlin
I like her little white paws
purring like crazy now...and her tail is shorter than my pinkie finger
oh, what a tiny kitten, how sweet
aha, finally got those acs and ans, goggled altar boys
hi and nbt
hi josh
hi josh wtg
great flosey !! I should have said altar girls too
shows my age
wouldn't have helped west, not familiar with the word at all
oh, they now use girls?
they do
things are looking up
yes lol
hmmm, I presume that is the anglican church? wonder if the catholic church uses girls?
I was talking about the catholic church
wow, that does surprise me
I don't remember altar boys or girls in the Anglican church
but then I'm not very churchy
oh, sorry jilli, that was just an assumption
well, neither am I, left around 23 or so
I believe most things are the same though
depends on the degree -- high church or low church, west
halfway
I don't know probably high
wtg josh
wow josh, you're really chugging along
gj josh
the churches I went to were low
I should probably go to bed, this might look better in the morning
I hope so flosey
I agree, flosey, and Lickety may show up by then
I am absolutely hopeless tonight
catholic church here uses both girls and boys - quite strange cos they were always so "male"
me too
so am I
some things are changing but verrry slowly
well, RC churches have nuns...
but I'm still less than half way! after 2 hours
west/jilli - I read your lines after "they were always so 'male'" and got seriously confused
sorry grem
that's unusual, flosey -- at least I have 114 words, thanks to gremlin
confusion reigns in babble
goodnight - be back if not asleep in an hour
bye flosey -- hope you can sleep
we'll welcome you back flosey but I hope you can get to sleep
tks, me too
I have 2 ca words from the c in the corner a cow giving birth and a waterway any help with the other one?
if you want to lose weight you have to watch your ca**ries
thanks jilli
do you have "a high-kicking dance of French origin"
ty again grem
I do but I got that from the other c
I meant the top corner
that was my ooh la la word
ah, okay
oh! I wondered what that was about!
so many Cs and As, it's hard to see what came from where
lol jilli
Well, 54 left and I'm going to pack it in. Goodnight whoever's still here!
g'night!
and *poof*
I'm here 42 left will get the list when I come back
good night jilli and grem
bye west
How many words today

Thanks
hi everyone
hi andree
mens tennis final has just started, i'm sure the brits out there are up watching
I have it on in the background.
Sorry to disapoint Andree but tennis is not on in this house!
Good morning/evening all.
Morning Haz and all
Good morning, FM.
hi all!!!!
Ata!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd probably support Murray if he were playing against anyone except Federer.
Hello Ata!
I had a sleep in this morning, didn't get up til 7.45, bliss.
I went past The Glen yesterday, Fi ....
oooh
well i'm hoping murray wins, it would be such a buzz for him and wonderful as federer is he has to lose sometime
on the way to The Thatch :)
Did you wave?
yes!
and hi fmitch, haz and ata
lol
Hello Andree
murray can certainly beat Fed, but whether he can do it in a competitive environment is another matter
He has a good record against him, just not in Grand Slam finals.
yes!
As long as they both do themselves justice, I'll be happy.
Would like Murray to win
wish they ween't both wearing blue
Yes, especially when the court is blue as well.
yes!!
How is C doing Ata?
good! she was actually pleasant to be with, which makes a change _
good to hear that.
yes, it made quite a nice change. except I ate too much chocolate and now I feel fat
Good morning all tennis fans!
Good morning, Flask. Have you got your face painted blue?
Morning Flask
hi flask
if you are early - are you not unlate?
hi flask, should be a great game
so far so good
Eh, no Haz!......but a wee roar has escaped my mouth!!!..lol
yes....so far so good!
It's good that they're broadcasting it live and that it's not on at a silly time through the night for us.
what time is it there
9am
I Know, very thoughtful!
exactly 12 hrs earlier
I have it in a little window next to my babble
9 pm you mean!
last time I looked it was morning here ...
Definitely morning here and -5 but bright and sunny.
maybe Scotland is in a time warp!
:)
i am confused which is not unusual
It's morning in Scotland, evening in Australia.
And Flask is so excited, time means nothing.
its sunday evening, 8.04pm
We can always rely on Haz to bring order back to a situation.
so Andree is 11 hours ahead of us.
I am the voice of reason.
well most of the time Haz but only if you keep taking the pills.
This is true.
Totally irrelevant question but how is the grid today?
grid?
It's heavily skewed towards the letter c.
a bit harder than usual
with a phantom of colcannon
Hi gremlinn
hi
I have word hints in my profile if anyone needs them
Hello, gremlinn. You mean you haven't finished or that it took you longer than 3 minutes?
thx gremlin, i take it you finished ages ago as usual
First question answered....
It took about 90 minutes
gd morning everybody -- coldest morning so far but bright and sunny
hi ruby
hi ruby! the whole breed of chows are in my bad books!!
what happened?
Good morning, ruby.
I am usually here and working hard right when the new puzzle is out
Was making enquiries yesterday as to how much a taxi would cost from my Mums hour to mine (thinking about Mothers Day in March) - to cover 14 miles will cost £35!
tank
thank
Morning ruby
goodness!
oh, so sorry, too wired up on coffee, need some calming drugs in the pb!!!
Is this taxi gold-plated?
Is Prince Charles driving?
I forgot to ask I was so gob smacked.
Is vintage champagne on tap?
and that is just one way, not a round trip.
You should try Easyjet, FM.
LOL!
perhaps a helicoper would be cheaper
That's a pretty ridiculous price, isn't it?
It seems rediculous but then again I haven't used a taxi in years so who knows.
Phone..
will contact a couple more co's to get a price comparison.
the are pretty pricey here too especially from the airport with lots of extra taxes
oh yes Andree airport taxis you can pretty much double what youwould usually pay.
urf, so tired
from mum's to ours which is 3 miles the taxi is about £6 so I'm not sure it is that bad but you should be able to haggle as you are booking it in advance
from here to Whitstable is about £15 which is 8-9 miles
mmm good point Katie and Good morning :)
morning all
Hello, Katie.
hi katie and whichever cats are near
hello haz and katie and ata and FM and andree. Sorry for my earlier faux pas!!!!
hi katie
what happened with the chows, ata?
bella bit hobbit! she didn't break the skin but left a bruise!
that's terrible but could have been much worse. chows have jaws of death when they want
not mine, of course, lol
one was sick and had an upset tummy yesterday so none of them are near as I want to check which one was poorly!!
they were both in a grumpy mood. monster dogs
awwwww
because you were away?
Back in a mo, putting the kettle on and yes Ata will make tea for you and coffee for those that want it :)
yes pls, fm, with milk
Bells is in season and apparently doesn't appreciate other female dogs in her domain right now
yay! :)
aaah, that explains it
What age is Bella?
ata do you have 2 dogs
she's *thinks* 1 1/2 ish?
no, Andree, Bella is my friend's chow
okay
oh good, Andy Murray has changed to a white top
in the second set now murray has changed out of the blue
I texted him.
good job, haz!
PHone...
probably the prime minister needing advice
Obama maybe
or george, sick of the italian chick
he needs all the help he can get!
don't they all
None of those suggestions. A farmer with a sick cow.
awww poor cow
I know. But veterinary medicine will pull her through!
oops nearly said that ha7 is a phantom
And it's a plural for some reason.
Have to smile, was in the garden whilst waiting for the kettle to boil and the bell ringergers at the church aren't the greatest in the wolrd but there is a joy in hearing the wonderful cacophany none the less. Tea and coffe are served in the PB by the way.
is the intrepid mr Haz off to visit her?
No, just medicine needed.
Ata: I did say it was a phantom by mistake earlier (I was looking at the wrong AL and thought the H didn't connect)
ringergers? where did that come from, I swear this keyboard has a mind of it's own!
glad it's not just me :) I couldn't see where the Y connected lol
Ringergers. It's bound to be some sort of interesting malady.
hard, I thought it was a phantom, too
ringergivitis
Women who long for marriage are Ringurgers.
perhaps that why they can't quite ring in sequence.
we could get you a job at our loval church, fm, they haven't a clue!
they even make bells here in the valley, but the local ones all sound cracked
married babies are ringerbers
Would Ringergers combine Tinnitus with Asperger's?
LOL!
sounds likely
crumble is sulking now have to work out if it's because she is poorly or just stropy
Hello everyone. I remember Poor Cow!
hello lynxx
Hi lynxxx
Good morning, lynxxx.
Good evening, lynxxx.
morning lynxxx
or both
(Hope lynxxx didn't notice my bad timing)
hi lynxxx
make yr mind up Haz!
I'm covering all eventualities. Belt and braces.
welcome home Ata
practical to the last.
Friday went smoothly Haz?
tyty :) but I am thinking that I need to go back to bed for a while. Long drive yesterday followed by Ill Husband all night
Yes, it all went well, lynxxx, up the ramp, down the ramp, through the test.
is he ok now?
oh gosh no, he'll be ill for weeks now, I'm sure
oh no!
man flu?
lol
Don't worry, ruby, Ata's husband enjoys imagined ill health.
really ill or man ill?
man ill LOL
good luck with that then!
unfortunately, I have a very cold heart and when my husband had a painless heart attack and couldn't breath, I thought he was overreacting to an allergy attack and I said "Get a grip!" I'll live with that forever!
Better go and get ready for church, see you all later
Right, must be practical and get me to the kitchen.
I'd be the same, ruby!
Fortunately, he survived my callousness!
Whats on the menu today Haz?
bye haz, bye katie, I'm going back to bed for an hour :)
bye haz and ata
Bye Katie, Haz & Ata
Spicy lentil soup with crusty bread, Leg of lamb, roast potatoes, potato croquettes, braised celery and carrots, sticky toffee pudding and ice cream.
bye haz and katie
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
that sounds wonderful, haz!
So off I go!
See you later!
*poof*
oooh yum! Bye to all those leaving and I guess I should depart too and start the day.

bye fmitch
Going to walk into the village and get the Sunday papers *poof*

thx lynxxx
Hello everyone!
hi Brookie
hi brookie
Hi lynxxx and andree. How are you today?
Much better after cool change came thru!
i am fine
Has it been hot the last couple days? The reports I had been getting in Melbourne were "perfect weather". Good to hear you're both fine.
Just today - got up to 37c - a bit too much
Wow! It
It's been 18F here.
brrrr
My youngest son hasn't woken up yet, so I'm enjoying solo babble time. :-)
wow thats hot lyn, we have had a stiff breeze all day
He's getting better then...what time is it now?
It's 5 a.m. here.
What's the weather difference, in general, between Melbourne and Sydney?
if murray doesn't pick up his game this match will be over
sydney is much more temperate, lynxx might not agree, its never as hot or as cold
ofcourse we get our heat waves too
Sydney has ocean breezes whereas Melbourne is in a large bay. We also get Sydneys leftover weather...it come in from ocean into NSW and goes anticlockwise overland...so we are last cab off the rank as far as rainfall goes
Just wondering. My friend in Melbourne reports that the weather is perfect all the time there.
Pretty nice day: -3 °F (-19 °C) Wind Chill: -18 °F (-28 °C
Sounds lovely where you are BR. We shall all visit you!
ao
Hello everyone, with al this talk of weather I just had to tell you, we fly out to Perth tomorrow !
Hi Karys!
We can have a picnic
He is right, it is pretty good. Probably about 10-20 really hot days each year.
Of course, BR, there won't be any ants at our picnic, because they'd be too sensible to be outdoors!
no pismires to worry about
well brookie i hope thats all your friend is lying about, lol
Hi Karys...Perth! we'll tell them to expect you
Thank you lynxxx, we go from there to Adelaide and Melbourne.
Well, compared to the weather in Newark, DE, I guess it is "perfect". :-)
hope you enjoy your visit karys
Not driving I hope Karys!
Thyank you Andree, I must say I am gett ing quite excited
Do you have friends out there, Karys? Or just taking a nice vacation to a nice place?
No, flights, but we will be driving from Brisbane to Cairns
phantom : thaumaturgy
clue for the na5/16 please
BR, I saw the same phantom!
That will be lovely Karys. You must be here for a while?
I don't have it yet, rumple
na 5 -- sluggo and na 5
or mrs reagan
I have a stepson living in Brisbane with his family, and we ar making a 'trip' out of our visit, going to New Zealand and Phuket
Got it, guess that dates me, huh?
hey all...karys.....brisbane to cairns..thats quite a hike..
I followed that one in the paper for many years
Fab trip Karys
wow what a great holiday, how long will you be away
Taking a few days to do it tho' rolin.
hi Rolin
yeah.... youll need it...but the coast roas should be lovely...
hi rolin!
hey lynxxx..hows things?
We wil be gone for 7 weeks, I have never been away from home for so long before !
hi brookie
the brisbane cairns drive is great taken over a few days
hi rolin
hi andree
With a maximum speed of 160 km/h, the full journey between Brisbane and Cairns is 24 hours and 55 minutes over a distance of 1681 kilometres.
Some great sounding places Andree
we are thinking about landing in perth this year...i wanted to take the train across the nullabor...but its so expensive
LOL... thank you BR !
160km/h karys would spend her few days in the clink
160km! I am not sure any of our roads allow that speed
karys...have you thought about taking the train??... its a hoot
I have not been to Western Australia before, so I wanted to se that side.
thats a train ride i am wanting to take also the ghan
No, we hadn't rolin, but al is in place now.
andree...me too..the ghan and the nullabor...but travelling with a smoker is a pain..*sigh*

As you can se, I am having a little trouble with this keyboard.
so is the ghan but i will take that one of these days
yup...lotto travel i call it
and babble slow down, we like having you around
What us the speed limit there, Andree?
50 in built up areas 60 and 70 on most roads and 110 on the expressways

speeds i obviously have a problem with as i have hardly any points left on my licence

this is the most incredible tennis
can't find gremlin's profile
look under rankings
Ah! Thanks!
TENNIS OMG I forgot all about it!!Well, Murray may not win but at least he is making Federer sweat!!
its over federer wins
Oh poo he's won!!
Hooray!
(I'm awfully fond of Federer)
Hooray??? Mur5ray may be a grumpy Scot but he is British!!
a great game and the best man won
They say he's not that grumpy at all. But Federer is a wonderful tennis player.
is he grumpy
He gives the impression of grumpiness because he speaks in such a monotonous way, but that's not the real him, apparently.
Let us say he isnt exactly gracious and he has taken a lot of stick for it - at least he tries to smile occassionly now!!
Grumpy or not, he (Murray) is still a brilliant player as well.
Company has arrived, I'd better go....
bye haz

I mean lickety is her husband... I hope she/they are alright
Andree said she saw them last week I think and all is well with them.
Hi All. Lickety is on Facebook Oodle, you could FB them, but I think I saw MrP here and they are fine.
Hi FM! That is good news.
Hello Annie :)
ty
hello FM Annie and Oodle.
hi red!
Hi red!
hi red
I have been wanting a grid over 200, Dr God doesn't seem to want to oblige.
he doesn't control it. it's random, the computer just generates them.
I know Hurshy, but I always like to think of him as in control of it....
oh dear, red, you're a walking argument for atheism.
perhaps. I'm not a good Atheist!
so, you are an atheist? and what defines a good one?
No I am not an Atheist, which I think makes me a bad atheist! I am a regular Christian, participating right now in the 64 days of non violence. It's Awesome!
well in that case, you should certainly try to avoid being a walking argument for atheism. :)
I would think so.
(are you normally very violent?)
No Not really, Im every day a Quaker. It's the season of Non violence, for some of us, we have 64 days of meditation and action.
it is just a funny name - like, the rest of the year, you can be violent, but for these 64 days...
I always wonder about the random number 64...but...
I agree. the rest of the year, do we have a season of Violence?
64 is square, which is lovely, but it doesn't seem to have any biblical significance, i agree.
I thought halon was a gas. If it like Freon a brand?
halon is not a gas that i know of.
are you thinking of halogen red?
Oh no... must go goole it and find out if it is anything.
halon is a fire extinguishing agent
No No Halon. I googled it, the reason I know it is that it is a type of abbreviation fo a halide fire extinguisher.
As Legend says!
Hi Legend.
hi red
its used mostly on aircraft...to put out engine fires
We have it in some parts of the hospital. I guess all that preparation for the JACHO inspection wore off on me.
Hurshy, how are you ? And Oodle, how goes it in the frozen North?
red, i have googled your 64 days in the meantime. it wasn't chosen for the number, but because jan 30 is the day ghandi was assassinated, and april 4 is the day MLK was assassinated, and in 1998 it was the 30th anniv. of one and the 50th of the other and ghandi's daughter or granddaughter suggested creating this "season" based on those dates.
i'm fine red, got my mitty kitty all cuddled up with me
Hurshy, you are amazing. You would think I would have noticed that.
I have had too many houseguests and life changes.
THanks!!!
oh no, is that PB for me?
the ability to google isn't that amazing :)
No, its that you bothered.
the list is NOT up in babanon...:(
i don't believe in the PB, so if nobody else wants to enforce it, you're off the hook.
yeah!!! hurshy
i don't often get a yeah!!! i'm having a real good day so far i guess
i am with you hurshy on the PB and red you are safe
sometimes i like the food in there....
think I asked about your name before hurshy but where is it from...I don,t buy hershey candy anymore since they moved the one and only hershey canadian factory to mexico.
think you said it was german?
in the good old days, there was a button you had to click to enter your chat, so there was much less of the whole entering-a-word-in-chat-because-you-fo rgot-to-move-your-cursor. we complained to doc when the new format was introduced, but he said people would get used to it. they did not. therefore i blame the system for those types of incidents and don't want to lock up the individual drug user, to analogize. and in those good old days, if someone used a word in conversation, we just said, red said a woooooooord, and that was that. and if it was a very common word like THAT, my feeling was that it should be exempt anyway.
yes, it's related to my married name, which is germanic.
oh ok i amember now :D
hershey chocolate isn't very good anyway, so i have never really been a major consumer of it.
I think it allows for a lot of fun if people take it the right way..
I will sleep well tonight knowing that hurshey :D
they use wax
well that explains it
red, it is not fun for me, more frustrating
we had fun before. we just had a jacuzzi filled with champagne instead of a penalty box.
Well, the PB as I see it now has lots of snacks, and coffee, and cabana boys and dancing girls...
it is an honest mistake and should be dealt as such
still has the jacuzzi and champs as well
never heard of the jacuzzi
and if doc would just GIVE US BACK THE BUTTON we wouldn't HAVE so many honest mistakes!
I believe the jacuzzi was moved into the PB
oh yes and stid put a bed in there for me some time back.
usually bacon sandwiches as well
FM has a great picture of the PB
she does.
I guess I just don't see it as punishment at all, which is why I am not frustrated, alsi the occasional dropped word can be nice...
couldn't agree more red
think I made enemies by reacting so negatively to the PB
i really really don't like it when a long but not obscure word is accidentally typed into the chat because someone didn't move the cursor. some of us would like to actually find those words.
not at all oodle, just trying to show that it can be taken as fun, but won't ever put you in there as you don't like it
PB as punishment? when you can get chocolate and champagne? Oodle is taking the PB seriously I think?
well someone doesn't acknowledge me anymore
But it is usually some little piddling 4 letter thing..
an 7,8 clue please
is it just me finding this one a pig today?
an7 to think about critically
me too, Katie
Mudd, some chemists an***** material. and come to a conclusion about it.
Hi Hurshy, Katie, red, Annie, oodle and everyone else
hi sally
Hi Sally!
I think I need a later one than that red.
the A's are giving me trouble at the moment, katie, if that counts.
My phantom: unclean. Does that say something about me?
that you've read the bible a lot?
i have on** got 58 and it has been a long hard slog!
well, its the only one I have so far Mudd.sorry/
brb
lol huurshy
I have the scientist's an 7. I need the third an 7 and I assume the 8 is a plural. Another clue please.
my phantom is nuance
Mudd, I do not have the other one, so I can not give you another clue.
an + vowel + could be spelling of not dark
same here
Very sorry.
whereas I am obsessed with getting 'uncle
ty sally
cry uncle! and let slip the dogs of war
np
no, that makes no sense. i must rephrase the latter bit too.
cry uncle! and restrain the dogs of war
So now we have the nuance of an unclean uncle
Oooh, the "Creepy uncle?"
I think I have to go to bed. I can't figure out the sweetest of clues.
Oh, I got it ... bless you!
I would like to state for the record that my uncles are not creepy (Diem if your lurking!!)
:-)
Oh my!
Is Diem your uncle Katie?
i have one semi-creepy uncle-by-marriage
yes sally
he is Mari's brother
I only ever had one uncle and he is long long sadly :-(
Sorry, long gone
Though he was quite tall :-)
i've had... 11 uncles total... one left my aunt, then she remarried, so i currently have 10.
:-( Feeling uncle-less
I only have two sally and Diem is half a world away
i'm not that close to any of them, if it makes you feel any better
back front top bottom and both sides
ironically I probably see more of him and speak to him more often that my other uncle who lives about 15 miles away
It's nice you all play Babble Katie. None of my family do.
good grief, hursh!! I just had 2 and both are long gone . . .
Oodle, is that a new dance, or a haircut?
no it is another way of saying I am back
Salut Une
salut, oodle!
Not very close to any of mine and I did have one creepy one, but now he has cancer, and is very ill, so I feel for him, creepy or not.
my mom has 2 brothers, and my dad is one of 9 kids, so i'm swimming in uncles and aunts, and even more so in cousins. 33 of those.
FYI here be BrandyJack's grid stats for today: http://tinyurl.com/ybjgkmo
My mum had one brother and 2 sisters. Brother and sister each had one child, other sister had none. My father had a half-sister who had no children - so I just have two cousins.
33 good heavens hershy!
i never understood how people could keep track of second cousins and so forth, i have enough to do keeping track of the firsts.
hi all
ok, BJ's stats are now in my profile is anyone's interested :-)
hey, mich :-)
Hi Mich
hi all
did he post them somewhere other than babanon?
I just read about a woman, 91 yrs old who had over 2500 descendents. She was a holocaust survivor and she herself had about 15 kids!
why wouldn't he just put them there?
and people get the second cousins mixed up with the first cousins once removed
TO!!! how nice to see you :)
Ooh, the ha 7/44 just leapt out at me :-)
hi unea,FM, TO , hurshy, all
hursh, was just giving a direct link
2500 descendants... wow.
oh, ok.
Well nothing is leaping out at me. I have 69 words but I am breaking my head looking.
hi fm!
hi mich
hi oodle
i'm off to do some work, will be back to have fun later!
It's a bit of a toughy today mitch.
i'm at 72, but need to take abreak to prepare for house guest number 2. grrrr.

gm
i'll stop, TO!!!
hey, kje
hell no, une... my opening word was ha7! LOL
got, ty!
Hello kje.
THat's a great way to start the grid, kje
i had a terrible dream last night
so7/40 Sherlock Holmes figured it out, then consumed it!
oh, sorry, hursh!
nice clue une - LOL
Does anyone remember the un+ co4? Not a word here though
I dreamt abuout work
I tried it Mich.
was that dr pepper?
i don't remember dreaming
oh red sorry you had a nightmare
OK half way... ime for a break, house guest preparation.... errrrrr. I love them I love them I love them.
oh talking about kkje
NEVERMIND
Grat clue there for the so7 Une!
hagd red
yes une ty
yw LOL
it was 7 Up hello all
it was 7 Up
et6/7 e + claws
there is an art to making a clever clue that people can still understand... some do it better than others
hey, peri!
it's so much more fun than "spelling it out"
see i thought of that but then i thought ,7 UP isn't even brown, so why would they compare themselves to co4 anyway?
So agree Une but I am not that clever.
I have the odd occasion of clue greatness but then I piffle out the rest of the time.
pish posh!
because it is not that's why UN hurshy
piffle is a great word
you know what else is a great word? rannygazoo
oh now that is a good word hursh!
is that a real word? LOL
well, i am not sure if PG Wodehouse made it up but i feel like i have heard it used elsewhere too...
Enable probably won't like it but I do.
<<<<<<one of my birdbaths with meringue on top! LOL
how much snow did you get, une?
ooohhh, google says it's a prank or joke -- great word, hursh :-)
Oh dear Une, a tad too much meringue!
kje, 4-5 inches with a one-inch crust of ice on top!
my pups do NOT like crashing thru the crust!
The birds in my garden asre keeping me active with feeding them and making sure the water is not frozen.
north and south have flipflopped this year
in the eastern US that is
true, hursh!
i had a flock of robins come through yesterday - never seen anything like it... must have been almost 100
fmitch, I know the feeling -- I'm making sure mine have plenty of seed and suet!
oh, how cool, kje!!
wow kje!
i only see huge flocks like that of blackbirds -- ugh
they flew around the backyard (and small wooded area nehind the house) all day, singing, pecking at the ground... and crashing into my windows
oohhh, clear skies and the sun is out-- wahoo!!
wow, kje!
I had to look them up and read on them because I didn't realize they traveled like that - I usually only see 1-2 at a time, but they likely live here perm
That must have been something kje!
did you do your Tippi Hedrin reenactment??
LOL
man, my cats would go crazy if that happened.
yes.. the thunking was a little unnerving
i can imagine!
hursh, same with my dogs!
it took me awhile to realize the sound was the birds crashing... then I saw one
just flew off again
had a dozen or so perched on my deck railing at one point... beautiful orange to red chests all in a row
one time while we lived at a boarding school, a falconer came with various birds of prey to show the students. he did the demonstrations right in front of our house so me and the cats watched. the students then saw us watching and asked who would win in a cat vs bird-of-prey fight.
ooohhh, how beautiful
apparently my little creek is a way-station... they are heading towards you, une, so watch out ; )
ooo who would win hursh I hate to think of the battle that would ensue.
I had a few robins right before this cold/snow front hit but right now it's mostly cardinals in the backyard and peckerwoods/itty bitty birds in front
the birds would def win
cardinals are gorgeous!
yeah, the guy said that it would be tough to call, which is why the birds wouldn't attack a cat - they MIGHT win, but the cat would certainly do it some damage in the process.
i've seen mockingbirds chasing away cats in my front yard!
kje, esp. in the snow -- just breathtaking
Ihave seen blue birds attack cats... the bird usually comes out ahead
the mockingbirds were chasing AND divebombing LOL
element of surprise probably helps.
mostly cuz they freak the cats out... can't really get to them when they can swoop attack and then fly away
hee hee hee YEAH BIRDS
true
my sentiments exactly, oodle!
Phone bbl
my cats have lived with humans too long. last night i left a mediocre salad from a pizza place on the floor next to me and my cats were licking it. tomatoes, i knew they liked, but mitten was licking the GREEN PEPPERS! i said, you're a cat, you're not supposed to like salad!
what I don,t understand is why a cat can climb a tree but it cant get back down
ok, BBL -- gonna try to get Shelby to pee once again -- she's not crazy about trying it on a sheet of ice, poor girl
because when it's climbing up it's not looking down and thinking about the height.
later une - thanks for the clues
I could climb a tree and def not get back down - LOL
à tantôt Une
ok gotta go see you after church... HAPPY SUNDAY!!
she found a green leaf to pee on -- yay!! LOL
later, oodle
hi Babblers - hope all except southern Austrailia) are fining warmth today :)
help with la8 pls
lath
oooooops - sorry
or the co8 pls
i'd clue for you, but don't have them - just started
dont have
that's ok, bo. I will keep looking
la7 is almost a body of water (Lag*** Beach) -- then latin plural
then change ending to "consumed food"
la6/7/8
oops, the body of water is la6
got the la7/8, merci, Une
yw ;-)
and the la6
cool
ty unea
hi and yw sue :-)

poor you, sue! we're starting a big thaw midweek
naw, the kids love it
we took the lining out of the pool this past summer and now there is about a foot of frozen water, Ice RINK
what fun for them!!

TY Unea
Yuk, yuk, yuk.... just in time for the work week.
Une - did you watch the championship?
Anike -have put the list in my profile but i see that Une has got there first!
watched the last 5 minutes, bo -- it started here at 2;30am :-)
would have watched the whole thing if my Rafa had been playing! LOLOLOL
same here - watched end of 2nd set, went back to bed
Rafa will be back - i hope the injury heals, he's too talented to be pushed back now - it would be a shame
he's planning on returning after 4 weeks off -- hope that does the trick . . .
Hi gang just dropping in for a mo
morning, hego!
a classic match, i think, would be Rafa vs. Laver - two lefties going at it

amn 7 -- to examine critically
my great dream in life has always been to have someone leave me a house in their will.
I think the answer would be no tho
ty BR
zsa zsa said she was a good housekeeper ... every time she got divorced she kept the house
what about really loving england and wanting to be british? does that count for anything?
I agree, Hurshy. I dream of a cute English cottage, peacefully isolated, surrounded by beautiful gardens...
it's not MY fault my stupid ancestors fought a revolution. i didn't sanction it.
Might get you a lifetime membership in monty python's fan club
That counts for everything and is much appreciated but you will still have to fill in a load of forms :(
hi all
Hi Bo
Hello, bojazz
BR - really interesting thoughts in your profile - very good
i don't mind filling in forms. i just don't know that i'd be considered a valuable enough commodity for contributing to the economy.
ty, bojazz
Bring enough money with you and they will probably let you in regardless
but i haven't got money
OK Ican see we are going to have to work on this.
i could teach maths, but i don't have any certification
I have been living in East Overshoe .... been wanting to make the step up to West Overshoe
co6/36 and 7/52, down to 8
what i am trying to co6 to you, rump, is that i want to be british
co6/36 - express something to another - then plural
co 6 - to deed or transfer ownership; pl
Hi bo
As I was just passing thought i must be off for a while. Happy Babbling all.
keep trying to get uncle in the board
bye FM
be well, FM
TY TY May finish this yet. My brain must be fuzzy today. I was up most of the night with my knee pain.
rumple - smash your big toe with a hammer - you'll forget all about your knee
rumple, some of my friends call me Grumplestiltskin
TY bojazz. Great solution. I'll try it. (LOL)
Have no idea why
BRB--must switch laundry around in basement
I had a goose named Grumplestiltskin because he wouldn't let us go near the mama geese without biting us.
Hello all. Is the icon Houses? I should change then.
or is it topiary.
hi red
Hello Bo Rumple, BR and Scrabbs. and all otehrs who are lurking or I missed.

Hi peri
hey Scrabs, how are you and the bunnies?
had to sell 67 stang when son came along.
I had a 67 Camaro, kept getting stolen. the fourth time I never got it back ;(
The bunnies are doing well. I grabbed Miss Bea this morning when she was eating her salad (she is tough to catch) and I was smooching her up!
awww, Scrabs, give them all hugs from me
how many bunnies do you have, Scrabs. I forget
And I took a nap in Tucker's room a few days ago so I snuggled with him. He is the big 10-pounder.
4 bunnies
traded a 69 camaro for the 67 stang
for some reason I thought you had more bunnies Scrabs
I have one cat but there is another cat here in the house
My first car was an '88 Jeep Cherokee. I got 197K miles out of it.
four bunnies are a lot of bunnies
Bad move Sixty7stang13
Finally, I've got fireworks. Going to take some pain meds and lay down a bit.
One bunny has the downstairs' bedroom and 3 boys each have their onw upstairs' room. My nephew has his own room.
any more and it would be a hare-raising experience
Bye Rump. Congrats!
Hahaha, Ruru!
haha, ruru
how was skiing yesterday scrabs?
bbl
the 69 camaro was not mine. Sons father trade it without me knowing to get me my 67 stang as a gift. I did not know whether to hit him or hug him. I loved both cars.
It was GREAT! I did 3 loops = 6.75 miles! My friend chickened out due to 14 F temp so I went al5. Me and my iPod = fun in the woods. There were lots of people on the trails.
Ruru, it was 2 F when I awoke 5 hrs ago but it is now 17.
whoa.. it is finally nice here. I am playing tennis this afternoon.. we've have lots of rain ..endlessly

that is word rampage
I only won one game out of 20
he abd jean are the best
yeah.. well you are pretty quick too
i used to think they had a program or something
i can rarely beat jaz. then he gets all 'let's put on the game face" which used to annoyu me
game face? I don't understand?
well it annoys me beauce it implies that he wasn't really trying so i beat him
oh
but if he tried at all he would always win
now i just play and when i get tired of getting beat i make an excuse and leave
oh.. I don't care if I win or lose... I enjoy the game

Quite a comfy grid
it is a difficult little grid.

indeed... well, not at first, but def towards the end
new recipe for you ru
http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food /views/Chicken-Soup-with-Asparagus-and -Shiitakes-Served-with-Roasted-Fennel- Matzoh-Balls-351689
oh the chicken and shitake thing.. sounded good
it is very good... best matzo balls ever! and the house smells phenom all day with the roasting fennel, then adding garlic and thyme.. later the matzo balls, then the soup - sensory overload!
I think I may have to turn the heat on...
kje, you sure you dont want to visit soon?
my heat is on red, and a fireplace as well
speaking of which, red... I am in Orlando in May - how far is that?
mine is blaastin - leaky front windows
You can cook in my kitchen. I will clean up.
kje, we are getting together in May!!!!!
deal! i love to cook, but am not a fan of the clean up - LOL
I live about 36 miles away, until last week I drove into orlando each time I worked!!!!
What are you doing in "wh" orlando.
cool!!! we must do something then!
AGS anual mtg
Ahhhh....
Well, you will be quite busy then, but we can definitely get together for a meal, and if you want to go somewhere, we can try!
Babble get together in May in Orlando...
they have it in Orlando every 5-6 years or so - I hate it there, would much rather do SF, Chicago, DC, etc
I won't be too busy... as I plan to skip a lot - LOL
Well, I am glad for our economy that you all are coming to Orlando.
may is a nice month there
I was just reading how FLA is one of the least hit economies
We have a very high, I think it might be up to 15% unemployment...
really?
there is a salad you must make in the Ad Hoc cook book kje.. the faro-squash salad
yep
Disney has had to offer all sort of incentives, and there have been Nurse Hiring freezes at several large hospital systems n Florida. WHo stops hiring nurses?
I do not have the ad hoc cookbook, ru... but I like squash and faro
I made it for New Years with Swordfish and leveled the room.
In truth though, we did not have a good economy before. Prior to the big alarm we already had a 10% unemployment rate in Orlando.
I can print the recipe for you somehow.
13% unemployment rate here in CA
what kind of squash?
Delicata, Kabosh, and butternut
Ok must return to my cleaning duties. and sure, kje...you can also come visit my backwards hospital....where we treat mostly geriatrics.
maybe that is what they meant, red... I wasn't really paying attention - maybe it was declined less
unemployment in my community is 17%
I will send you the details once set, red
who knows. It seems one can twist statistics any way they please.
man, that sounds awesome ru!
Cant wait!
where's that Bojazz?
OMG YAY I found the 8 all by my self!!!!!
just dont come and be a month long houseguest, this one coming net week is going to drive me nuts.
bye all.
"the" 8? try 6 of 'em! ; )
it is really great.. my wife's friend eats like a bird and had three helpings...(proud chef smile)
red - I only wish I could be a month-long guest... would love to escape work that long!
def send it to me ru... is it long? can yiou stick it in your profile?
bye red
I think so.
is the ad hoc cookbook good? a lot of those star chef/restaurant cookbooks are beautiful, but not practical
this one you can cook with as opposed to his other books that you'd have to be a scientist to make those things
who is the chef ?
I will check it out
I have done 5 of the recipes.. and they have all come out perfectly. ... Thomas Keller
Keller
hubert?
no.. although he is great too
thomas keller
lol but on a different plane
I have never been to a H keller place
yes.. but Fleur du Lys is really a wonderful restaurant too
maybe I'll check it out next time I'm in SF
he does a Xmas time Alsacian menu that is to die for
I bet
roasted chestnut soup... ooooooooooooooooooo
joy joy joy . . . I was able to get out of my street and go to the grocery, gas station, library, post office . . . blessed freedom! LOL
I have 60 left

i was, kje -- but cabin fever had taken me over!!!
4 inches of snow with a cap of about an inch of crusty icy snow on top of that
and the sun is shining -- yeehaww!
four inches is just a little dusting
ok, gotta put up groceries . . . BBL
everything is relative :-)
i know it is for you, BR, but we had a lot of ice with it AND I live at the bottom of a very steep road
hello doren!
hey, doren :-)
Just kidding, Une
hi owl, and everyone else. i'm sitting at the membership drive for local jazz station. we just gave out autographed cd's of tony bennet's greatest hits.. phones were off the hook!!

doren i think i wrote you about a jazz performer, did you get the email>

Good afternoon everyone :)

Ha7/44 anyone plz?
hello mom!
{{TO}} hello. Do you get to stay home this week? I sure hope so.
Nm got it.
ha7 = calm and peaceful; a mythical bird
mo: i am home for good

kje?

I am at 57, no list
oh man, no that it doesn't. It always seems to work that way.
but mostly just staring aimlessly
{{KJE}} hello
have you hear of Pensee's (Sp?) Spice company ?
(((MOM)))!
HI Ruru
staying warm, mom?
penzey, yes
they opened a store out here and I shopped there for spices. they are fresh and unbelievable.
Right down the road from me ru
HI MOM
yes, KJE, have a fire going in the fireplace as we speak.
oh.love their stuff. especially the Vietnamese cinnamon ...
going above freezing this week. How about you>
?
for those of us who cook a little more homely, mc cormick has begun to market here apice blends with specific recipes. have any of you seen them?
yes, we have a retail location here in Dallas, too ru - very good spices
(just had cinnamon toast with Coffee)
I have seen those here, TO
but have not bought any
I am sitting at exactly 32 right now, mom
mc cormick sucks
ha 7/44 plz
yes..
KJE, did you get snow or ice?
why so hoot?
it can be hazardous though... you walk into that penzeys store and think you need everything they sell - LOL
no mom, not this time - just cold
th** is good
usually stale and grade b at most
they have a great ginger powder I use too..
not everyone is able to cook on a gourme tlevel or afford to use premium ingredients
the sage is great... and the maple syrups are really good...
pager - bbiab
although I Java Co has them beat on Syrup
I have a drawer full. Dangerous to be so close
I have found the McCormick spices I have bought to be quite good. But we don't have a fresh spice store anywhere near here
I use them.. trying to use less salt these days
not really that expensive. You can buy just what you need.
Any clue for ac4/7? Tx
and if one does not have the store you do?
Got it!
stuff isn't pre=packaged
Hi Kenny, sorry I don't have it
are you sayinhg you can buy an ounce at a time or so?
order a catalog from I think wisconsin
Kenny--what is it? JUST what I'm looking for
mailorder but then sizes are set
does someone have the list, please?
yep
in my profile
a + the beginning of the second half of a bike
well i don't know. kind of snobby you think?
thank you, hootowl
yw
snobby?
it'
it's food.. how is food snobby>?
to say that only a certain company is a viable purveyor of flavorings.
I don't think so. Here in back of the beyond it's nice to find something familiar
I do not understand why, when I click someone's profile, it opens in IE 8, when my default browser is Google Chrome. Weird.
no.. I didn't mean it that way
ac4/7 is a chemical. Look for the botton and left.
time to get on with the day. happy babbling all
no - only one around here. and I do use other than mc cormick
I just found their products really fresh and with spices that is important.. like hoot says the mccormick stuff is all tired and dead tasting
Thx Kenny!
bye bye {{TO}} glad I got to see you
i just have a very plebian palate

Sorry!

Hello, Mom
my brain must be half-dead today.
I can't even decipher the clues I am seeing
I spent 5 minutes looking at yesterday's list, trying to find some ae words... and I did know the list was wrong, too.
It's not you, aslindy: it's this miserable grid
then I put on my cloak of invisibility, and spent the next few minutes talking to myself =0
dang, that was meant to be a smile: =)
asllindy, hurshy put a list at babanon
I have the list now, thanks.
but it's not helping...
80 left - need a break bbl
good mornin'...good mornin'...
hi Pini
hiya pini
then the grid should be vroom vroom vroom
Hello, Pini
hi bo, as, BR...
oo oo... a couple brain cells woke up, I found the ha7 & 8!
I had to use at least 8 letters to find the eights
smart thinking, BR :)
took awhile but I am catching on, Pini
better late than never, eh, BR? :o)
lol BR
then i can assume the 7's will take 7??
I figure in a couple more years, I might even start remembering five letter words
and maybe the 6's will take 6?
worth a try, bo
you might be on to something Pini
I'm not so sure about 4's tho...they still kinda stump me
no wonder didn't get any of the 7's yesterday :(
could be a knotty problem, Pini
but I'm not bad, BR
go out on a limb for this grid pini
you can root out the words
oh, OH ... so sorry
so, what you're saying is I should dig out words?
eyes
*looking for shovel*
Oh, err... hello, all.
already have that one, Vi
yes Vi, i have two
oh, htat wasn't a question was it?
* giggle *
If it was a question, it was only, "why can't my ey4 see any more words?"
open them first?
et 6 ?
I think we need to dig bigger holes...
...so these darn words sprout up!
nm
Well, there's no shortage of BS in the chat for fertilizer! ;)
e + a hawk's claw
e's are eliminated..
Thank you BR.. I just found it
BS - is that a clue, Vi

hi
isn't halal what moslems eat?
yes, but it's a proper noun
yes
bummer
it's not a proper noun -- neither is kosher
Not proper, just not accepted ..
it is a legal term in islamic law
is kosher acceptable?
donno
If I type kosher I get kosher does not exist in the puzzle - so it is in Enable
very clever wht
you're always thinking :)
<-- learns something new every day :)
(but also learned today that, once daughter and grand-baby leave to go back east, the house is awfully empty and quiet)
Not sure that's conclusive though .. Still might not be in enable ..
Hi, Harry and tor
hi hi
Yes it is. If it weren't it would tell you "not found int he dictionary."
Hello, all.
how sad welki
Hi, Vicuna
If it's not in the dictionary it says that, and it checks the dictionary before it checks the grid.
we should try something we know enable doesn't take
Need help, please...an 7/36, the second?
i tried mosh and got the same thing so wht is correctomondo
hi vic
it really is. i miss so much, being far away. on the other hand, visits are always a joy
my inlaws only see my kids about once a year or less
Mosh is "not found int eh dictionary" as is halal. Kosher is "doesn't exist int he puzzle" therefore it is int he dictionary.
an7- just like the ac7
they're far away, too, hh?
One of these days I will learn to type "In the".
Th5 you, Vicuna!

ty vi
not really - but we can't travel too much - kids and wife get carsick, and it's a hassle, and they choose not to come up. Which is all really for the best.

Hope all's well with you, here or not.
hi Ata!
bbl...kids are frekaing out
Was I? As in, "kn5 - what Vi is"?
nooooo! as is la6 = la + vi**** :)
ac4 - what Vi thinks it is utterly unfair to suffer from at the same time as grey hair?
Oh, lol! That makes sense. I couldn't think of any words that applied to me today! =)
nooo there's no lovely and sweet and clever :)
Awwwww. *blushing*
and hi aloy! hi jmc! lovely to see you!
and vi, look at my icon pic. silly cat!
Wow, what magnificent paws! lol
*grin* she was in mid catch
She looks pretty darn pleased with herself, too.
nice pic ata
she always is LOL. A true CoG
CoG?
Cat of Glory :)
Cat of Glory
lol
My cat, on the other hand, is more of a CoWB: Cat of Walnut Brain.
there are CoGs, KoGs and ToGs at last count
K and T?
mine is both
Kittens of Glory
Twins of Glory - especially for Vi, that one
True, they are not mutually exclusive. But there's very little Glory about mine.
phantom: enemy, could have sworn it was there.. paranoid, lol
mine is a CoF (Cat of Fumblepaws)
The ToG are my progeny! How honored I am to have brought them forth upon an admiring world.
*hands aloy a valium*
jmc! LOVE it!
lucky vic
ty, ty, gratefully swallows valium
lol, Aloy!
she is such a cluntz
sorry clutz
Mine's a klutz, too. No dignity whatsoever.
mine has all their dignity and more
Farwerks! (that's fireworks in Bawlmer)
mine tries for dignity but then trips
whoo hooo lawyer!
So there's some kind of COnservation of Dignity among cats, then.
Yay for lawyer!
congrats to lawyer-1 !!!!
this morning she lept on a table and slide off backwards
woo hooo lawyer... i love Balmer! I went to elementary school there
mine's Burmese, so she has Dignity engraine
yay lawyer!
DId she bring down anything on top of her head int he process?
ty, jmc
several books
ty, jmc ty, ata
Oh yeah, that's how it's done!
i heard a cracking noise, and discovered that it's icicles falling off my window sills
poor kitty walked away trying to look regal but not carrying it off
Mine doesn't even try.
there is a giant radio tower near my house and after teh first icestorm after moved in i kept hearing banging against the side of my house
pooooor kitty!
i went running out to yell at the rotten kids and it turned out it was these huge sheets of ice coming from the tower melting in the sun
The best was when she fell off the toilet tank and flushed it on the way down and scared herself half to death. (At least she didn't fall in and flush herself down.)
they are amazing to watch spiralling down and smashing into my house
Yikes, jmc!
I'm surde Sily must have done something undignified *thinks*
LOL jmc.......LOL vicuna !!!
poor vic kitty!
SHe once jumped onto the table and landed spang in the middle of a hot pizza. She left perfect paw prints int he middle of the cheese. She didn't jump up again for years without checking first.
oh, she once ran away from a field mouse. that was fairly undignified
lacuna
i keep expecting a window to be smashed out but in 25 years hasn't happened yet
That's good, Ata. Did the mouse chase her?
ouch, off to the PB and back to the other window.. sorry folks
yes LOL!!! Sily hid behind the door
clue for na5/16 pls?
na5/16 - Mrs Reagan
ty Vicuna
How'd she dignify herself out of that one, Ata?
she didn't. that was the one time I think I've seen her completely flummoxed
=)
it was the first time she'd ever seen a mouse :)
Well, I'm sure it was a very fierce mouse. =P
utterly. huge, it was
all of an inch
Ours never has seen a mouse. I don't know what she'd think of it. She likes scolding chipmunks through the window though.
mine has brought me a mouse or two
sily does the same with birds that fly past
but she is afraid of the coffee grinder
There, now, jmc. That's respectable cat behavior!
my ex-cat used to bring me rabbits!
sensibel cat. I'm scared of coffee grinders :P
the day i was to graduate from law school my cat at the time Elizabeth Cady Stanton was a great comfort
Impressive. Wonder if any of Scrabbler's rabbits has ever brought her a cat! 0oO
whoa i need glasses ... i read, "my ex-cat used to bring me rabbis!" shalom :)
lol, welki!
i woke with 104 temp and was too sick to go to the graduation and my car brought me two mice and a bird to cheer me up
an7 please??? I have the one that means to observe, and the one that ends with "not dark."
awwwwww what lovely presents!
would make a great Far Side cartoon ... with an occasional priest thrown in for good measure
Your cat, I presume. Otherwise it was a strange car! lol Very sweet!
it was very sweet

How bizarre.
Lickety has a life
What's that?
i have a t-shirt which says "the few the proud the moravian"
ask lickety
Lickety is not here to ask.
So I can only imagine what a life must be.
Actually, I have a life, but I like to ignore it.

they certainly make great cookies

Sun Chips? they are pretty good generally but not enough salt for me
there is a whole foods market near me
well there you go them jbv

Moravian spice cookies are a traditional kind of cookie that originated in the Colonial American communities of the Moravian Church. The blend of spices and molasses, rolled paper thin, has a reputation as the "World's Thinnest Cookie." They are related to German Lebkuchen; original recipes can be traced back to the 1700's. The cookie is especially popular around, and usually associated with, Christmas in communities with a strong Moravian background such as Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, which still maintain the two largest Moravian communities in the United States. Although there are a few bakeries that still roll and cut the cookies by hand, some now use a mechanized process for making the cookies in order to meet the demand. While this does not affect the taste, the machine-made cookies have been criticized for not being as thin as their handmade counterparts. While the spice recipe is the most traditional and well-known of the Moravian cookies, other versions have appeared over the years, including sugar, lemon, black walnut, and chocolate varieties.

hmmm, our poles just look like poles, I will have to go look it up...
oh well no matter just something silly i read
sniff...getting sick I think....
It's probably true, jmc, since London thinks there is nowherenorth of The Watford Gap.
the poles may not look like th4 anymore
poor book
Oh no Book, best to go to sleep!!!
the crossbars usually hold the transformers which connect the wires to the power.
hope not book girl. drink lots of liquids and get plenty of rest.
can't quit....wheeze...want to finish...
hey bookgirl!
Book girl - drink lemon with hot water, honey and paracetemol and go to bed.
sadly I may have to go and look through the chog for some clues...
woo hoo, hey ann, welcome to the grid!
hello ann
whatcha need, red?
woohoo done with this !
Well, there are plenty of cluers here...
welcome, ann
Hello ann.
I need some C's some e's some U's anome Ls and some s;s
suppertime
whoooooo hooooooo HH!!
congrats Harry...
Well done, Harry. *~*~*~*~*~
tyty
hi, all
I love the black eyed peas....
Red - just yell when you want a specific clue.
I'm good....thanks all.
whoo hooo harry
hi ann
la6.24, which the next 3 words after that stem from is a gap or a space, or a lagoon. Hope that helps.
Well the right half of the grid is done, on to the left half... hate to complain, but it is a bit chilly here..
*cough cough*
Does anyone have a clue for the sy5/20
That's a new way of doing it, red - right half and then left. I tend to work in word blocks.
nm. Monkeys just woke up.
Actually it just kind of happened Jacula, I am not systematic at all...
most of tweety birds nemosis sy**ester + first vowel
wht - sounds like a me5 that isn't gold.
clue for the N words from the bottom row that do not relate to the thing on our faces?
na4 = a temple.
na4.7 following - part of a church.
TY Jacs...
yes have that its from the other N... ;( but thanks.
y/w red.
ok all N's are done.
red - I just get the words and don't always remember where they come from. I'm the artistic type, not the mathematical type. LOL
I think at times it is very hard to tell which letter a word came from ...
Sometimes a word can appear to come from 2 or 3 ways.
exactly..
Just like British buses. LOL
FIreworks
Well done wht.
*~*~*~*~*
COngratulations Wht!!!!!
ty to Une - I couldn't have done it without the list.
Oh, was there no Lickety today then?
Did BJ do a list?
I guess kind Babblers posted lists? Sorry I wasn't one of them. I had no idea it was a listless day. Me and Belove decided to 'hibernate' for part of it. We snuggled up and slept and slept and slept, then we got up and he watched the darts final on TV and I roasted a leg of lamb etc.
I have a list in my profile Jacula if you need that list.
Don't know. I didn't go to Babbleanon. I just saw in the chod that Une had one.
It was in the chog, too,.
Min - Thanks, but I finished the grid mid hibernation.
Congratulations wht on your fireworks! Good for you
Congratulations Jacula on finishing early! Good for U!
whoo hoo wht
whoo hoo jac
I spent hours making that me4 and then everyone emerged from the woodwork and demolished it within about 20 mins. LOL
That's what makes me happy - people arriving on time at the table to eat my food. I get quite cross if they don't.
Isn't th4 the way it always goes.
sounds good jac
wht - Yes. You spent hours and hours and hours baking and cooking and then people EAT it! They're only forgiven for demolishing hours of work if they offer to wash up afterwards.
I AM kidding, you all know? (Not about the washing up bit, though.)
you sound very pleased to me
finally down to 29. golly it is so so cold.
go red go
It sounds like it was a very good meal. Though it doesn't sound like you got to hibernate very much.
*hands red a blanky and a cuppa hot tea*
okay, m's managed!
Marvelous pippingeek!
go pip go
go pip!
I got to hibernate until about Midday, wht.
clue for the an 6 and 7 combo?
Other half went back to hibernate until about 2pm, when his daughter went in there to wake him up for the day.
an+the things on the pine tree or what you eat ice cream in
an + ice cream ****, an inverterd triangle rolled to a sweet goodness.
TY lbd and jmc!!!
an + icecream container & plural.
Whee -- all done :)
whoo hooo jill!
whooooo hoooooo JIlli!
wtg jilli
Congratulations jillibus on fireworks! Hooray for you!
congrats jilli
yay jilli!
hey grem, what's up?
hi grem
hey, not much
Hi gremlinn! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
Thanks to cluers and those who posted the list -- gremlinn, BJ, and une -- there were others, I know, but those are the ones I saw. Also thanks to morewords.
Re other half's re-hibernation after getting up aat about 8am. If I try to get all stern with him and tan his hide to get him up, it seems to send him into fantasy filled sleep again. I know when to bring reinforcements in... Stepdaughter did the trick.
hi Min, thanks
jilli - love that link you sent me.
thanks, jac -- I got your email :)
I'll post the link here for anyone's amusement -- just a mo . . .
Okay jilli.x
http://vimeo.com/3829682 -- on English as she is spoke -- very clever ;)
Jilli, shouldn't you have posted, 'I'll like post the link here afor anyone's amusement?' *grins*
down to 30 and quite slowing
lol
And shouldn't you have said 'okay?' after saying you'd post the link?
you know, we all notice when someone accidentally posts a word in the chog, but nobody sees the brazillion times (ty dubya) folks post chat stuff in the add word field!
I'm like "oh yeah, shoulda done that, y,know?"
brazillion - isn't that the largest cup size available?
jilli - LOLOLOL.
an i am glad they don't pip
um, i really wouldn't know.. ;)
good one, grem!
16 left
go dobie!
nice video there
Which reminds me... I wanted to buy a teeshirt for my 15-year-old stepdaughter not long ago, because she is 'sad' enough to use the word 'LOL', not that it is a word, in her everyday speech. But the LOL tee-shirt was yellow and everyone knows that girls her age only wear black.
*giggle*
she actually speaks "LOL"?
I have to go and warm up supper (beef stew I made the other day -- comfort food)
gremlin - she does.
hi
once I saw a poll about how that should be pronounced (individual letters vs. "lawl")
hi herin
Hi Herin.
oh, and here is that poll: http://www.rinkworks.com/poll/results. cgi?q=620
jilli - comfort food is always welcome in times of snow etc.
My granddaughter Lois's nickname has been Lolly, then Lol, for 25 years
"Lawl": 28.6% "L.O.L." 17.7% ...and 53.8% thought it was just ridiculous
Hi OSGMA and everyone
i am with the 53.8%
No snow here, jac -- lovely spring-like weather, temp about 10C.
gremlin - to post a web address that doesn't take 2 attempts to read use tinyurl.
Hi OSGD
What do you mean? It copies/pastes in one go for me.
Before the internet days, LOL was a Brummie and Black Country diminuitive of the male name 'Laurence' or 'Lawrence'.
ttfn, gang -- back after supper and 60 Minutes
bye jill
Hi again...
Having said that, the only Lawrence I ever met was worthy of being a 'LOL'. He was a moron. He was a former b/f's brother.
enjoy your dinner, jilli
HI JM and Jac too. arrr sorry brain not working
hi jell
So many "j" names in here!
Hi jellen
Just like yesterday's grid (joe, joanna, jones, jason, etc.)
Hello Jellen! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
lol herin
help with the ac 4/7 please
Its too warm again. And heat turns my brain into goo
jmc and herin both need help with the AC, it seems.
jmc: chemical-type ending
a + my car's engine has 6 c**inders
*hands herin a popsicle*
A v8 motor has 8 c**inders
After his failed attempt to seduce me in the aftermath of hs parents' 25th wedding aniversary party, he was a bit cross, not to mention very drunk. He tried to accuse me of 'seducing' him by arriving at the door in a mini skirt and blue suede boots. (This was in the 70s, folks.) I don't know how many ives he's got through now, but last I heard the third had left him 'because he was mad'.
ac+ 2nd to last letter of alphabet + Letter before M
mmmm poppsicle
Jac did you wear the micro minis?
ty torg and lbd
fireworks - TG - this puzzle frustrated me!
Is "popsicle" general-use now or still a proprietary term?
hi torg
both gremlin
whooooooo hooooooo DOBIE!!!
whoo hoo jmb!
Herin - I did! I ha the figure for it then. However, as you can see, wearing them had a downside.
thanks lbd jmc night all
i wore them then too
Yay, jmb!!!
night night, Dobie! sweet dreams
My mums Micro minis in the 60s was so short dad had to pick her up to put her on the motor bike. And my mum still has the legs to wear the skirts darn her
I must just mention again that the Lawrence in question was my boyfriend of a years' brother.
alas i no longer have the legs
I've still got the legs Herin, but not the flat tummy.
but i did up until i was 45
i had a friend who had the legs until she died at 85
grr. 18 more and not feeling it
she was amazing
If my mum wasn't in her 60's she would wear the skirts. She is still very fashionable though
My legs are better now than they ever were ..
go pip go
Go pipping...you can do it!
but you never wear miniskirts torg
hey, random question, does anyone here know a babbler by the name of nabdancer?
(i think that was the name she used)
jmc - unfortunately, mankind has lost it's 60s laiisez faire and gone more puritanical. And who can blame the men when you see aggressive, drunken women in micro, micro miniskirts, worn with thongs, rolling drunk on the pavements.
but torg in speedos! wowzer!
Torg I would be interested in seeing you in a skirt :P
Don't know that one pip ..
I worry about these girls. They are all daughters of someone.
Skirts and speedos no, but I look okay in shorts .. My legs that is . The rest is pretty much a train wreck ..
Jac we got told at tafe if we are in the building 5 which is for the builders then we are not allowed to wear skimpy clothes as its distracting to them Since we have been told that most of the girls wolf whistle and cat call teh boys
My stepdaughter came down to talk to me tonight, when her Dad had gone to bed.
i was at a meeting and the young woman i was speaking stood up from the chair and I could see her crack her jeans were so low!
if she worked for me she would never wear those jeans to work again
Jax is that a good thing?
eeeeewwww, but crack. you need to get some crack spackle
i hope you had a good talk jac
i had a young girl interview with a blouse that didn't cover her bra
but my favorite was my staff who wore jeans with a rip where i was able to see his frank and beans!
She's worrying me big time again. I'm glad she's getting therapy soon, because, despite her thinking that I'm SuperMum, I can't guarantee that I can put her together again once she's fallen apart. If I could even begin to tell you all how ANGRY I am with her pathetic mother for puitting her, and alll of us, in this position, I would halt the chatlog. So, not going to go there.
*hands jac a cuppa and a soap box*
Jac is it possible for you to have her living with you?
we are always willing to listen jac
She's self-harming again. I knew she was because I'v had to wash the bathroom mats twice in 2 weeks.
oh dear jac {{{hugs}}}
O poor thing. I do understand that Jac. Words here can't express my sadness to you
Like I said to her, 'I COULD take care of your penknife set for you, but, if you want to hurt yourself, doing that won't make any difference.'
can you make a pact with her Jac. A promise that she wont hurt herself? I used to do that with some of my clients who were damaging themselves.
I've been on this road before with the girls I got too involved with when my daughter spent years in the clinic after starving herself to near death.
lbd - I've given her a pact. And a plae to either throw away or burn the clothes she was wearing when the paedo thing happened with her Mum's b/f.
She's not ready to let go of him or the PJ's yet.
burn them
jmc - that's what I said AND what her cousin, just a year older told her. I've told her she should burn them, when she's ready, asa symbol of a new start. I can't tell her Dad about this 'cos he'll jut probably tear in there, grab the garments and burn them right off. She needs time.
i understand both parts
i hope someday she can tell her dad
She was wearing the offending pj's tonight whilst talking to me in person and her cousin on line. I'm hoping that her cousin won't be troubled too much by all of this. Will talk to cousin's Mum tomorrow.
oh poor thing have you bought her new pretty PJs? I am sure you have
I've bought her lots of pretty pjs. I'd never seen those horrible wash-faded things before she came down wearing them earlier.
She must have kept those out of the equation when we did the 'throw all the horrible grey whites away if I can't get them bright again with my magic wash potions'. (Her Mother never bothered to separate things for the wash, so everything ended up either grey or khaki etc.)
herinfernallady ProfileAustralia Jac is it possible for you to have her living with you?
Herin, she's been living with us since last May.
okay i am heading to bed
Ok sorry Jac.
jac i will continue to hold you and your family in the Light
byw all
Night Jm
bye all that is
Goodbye jmcnrick! I will see you tomorrow in the log!
g'night
Thanks jmc and sleep well.
night, jmc. sweet sleep
G'night, jmc
Congratulations gremlinn on going pro! Hooray for U!
I must go and at least attempt to read one of my text books for classes before they start
Totally worth it.
Read well and prosper, Herin.
yay, grem!
Goodbye herinfernallady! I'll see you tomorrow maybe
bye bye, herin
Bye, herin
Abd I will shut up about trials with a stepdaughter now.
Thank you Min. Yes Jac funny one. ITs on Commercial Law. Very exciting
Eh? Herin.
Seeing Hern's post to me about 'could I have Step living with me?' I wonder how many of the invited ones to my private blog actually bother to read it.
Ther are times when I think Bablbler Hydra and myself should just exchange daily 'phonecalls or weekly snail mail letters.
Hydra wanted me to do a blog. I did, which got me writing again most days. I might get a wider audience if it wasn't a private blog, but I had to make it private after some stupid local hospital DJ thought it was in his remit to have a go at me for not knowing the guy in person when I commented on the death of an almost 21-year-old friend of my daughter , a dead guy who was also the best friend of my daughter's b/f at the time. I saw how it effected him and her. But, apparently, according to Mr Hospital DJ, I had no right to do that.
And the last thing I want is notriety like that.
HELP!!!!!!!!! please... trade 1 for 1. another word for bad people that are in jail
change the last letter to the sometimes vowel, r23
Erm... sorry r23
r23, you've been at this a long time...
an + same word, singular
Hello r23! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle!
I think I should slink off to bed now. Nuff said and all that.
G'night, Jac...I wish you the best...
night Jac...
Hello Everybody. How are you all tonight? I'm regretting the fact that I started this grid this AM; I've been busy all day and haven't had time til now
Hi, Nef!
Goodbye Jacula! I'll see you tomorrow in the chat log!
hello nef...staying warm?
Hello BookGirl! How are you? Welcome to the chat log
Hello Nef! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle!
Hello all again (back from supper)
Hello jillibus! How are you doing?Welcome back to grid
Hi, jilli!
i'm still a baby at this, but it is getting a little easier each time I work on the grid!
hey, book girl -- you need your flag! Go to your My Account and check the little square, upper right, where it says Show Profile :)
Good for you, BookGirl! But it never gets too easy...
jilli, i've looked high and low for your flower .. the best i can come up with is some sort of siberian iris, but i really think it's something else .. have you had any luck identifying it?
Hello welki! How are you doing?Welcome to the puzzle
Dang! Thought I could play, but have a sick neighbor who has to go to the hospital (he just called about his wife). I need to go babysit.
no, welki! There was a suggestion that it's a Japanese Iris, but I went to Google Images and they don't look the same at all.
Good luck all. Happy Babbling!
Sorry about that, Nef!
Ouch Nef...hope everything turns out okay!
Goodbye Nef! I will see you tomorrow in the chat log!
jilibus's flower looks like a trillium to me.
no, they don't .. and the yellow splashes and purple throw more cogs into the machine
Trilliums have three petals
it did to me, too, jabber .. until jilli reminded me that a trillium has three petals
Hello Jabber! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
Congratulations BookGirl on going pro! Hooray for U!
Hi jabber -- you need a flag too!
oof. i am trying so hard on this one, even going thru the chog history, but i think i'm not going to find more without help
I ate some me4/5 for my dinner me 4/5 and now I ha 4/8 another story of clues. I hope I can co 6/36 the me4/5ing of my clues in my story. So I do all the food shopping for me and my husband.Sometimes I will ask him to go with me but he says no way so I go al5/10. I only buy whatever is on sale. Love it when Shoprite has their ca 6/24 sale. I seem to buy a lot of ca 6/21 oil. I also buy lots of ca4/5 of soup for husband. I am always looking for co 4/6-co4/5 on sale since that is all I drink. I will also buy extra of whatever is on sale in ca4/5 it does not go on sale again for awhile. Then I come home & put everything away. Some things go in the pantry & some things go in the cl 6/21. I have had my no 4/4 to this grid all day. My monkeys and I don't seem to be in sy 4/7 today. Now it is la4/4 and I am not going to finish the grid today. I am quitting the puzzle before I lo 4/4 my mind and go insa4/4. I ha 4/5 when I don't finish. I on 4/6 got 160 words. I en 4/9 all of you who do finish. Th5/20 you to all who gave clues today. I can feel the on5/10 of tiredness coming on. I can't keep my ey4/6 open so I am going to cl5/12 Babble website and go off to go sleep in my co 4/7 bed. So th 4/5 is the end of my story of clues.
I hope what I posted helps you out some pippingeek.
good story tonight, even if i do have all of those!
Sorry it didn't help you. I can clue what I have so far.
I can clue, pip
Hello everyone -- finished this morning, so just checking in to see how everyone is
i feel like i have a few too many to clue, trying to clean up my l's with a2z first
hi nan!
there is a list posted on bab anon
I also have list in my profile if you need it pippingeek.
3 of the la's begin with the same 5 letters: french lake + not prefix
Hi cybernan! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
Congratulations cybernan on finishing early! Hooray!
ty min
Since cybernan and jillibus are here to clue,I am gone
make that 4 of the la's
Goodnight to my fellow babblers!I'll see you tomorrow
Hi jill -- didn't see you here
thanks min.....later....yawn, signing off!
night night, Min. sleep well. i'm heading out too.
okay, got the 3 french lakes, is the la8 connected as well?
ye4
yes -- made a correction to 4 french lakes, not to be confused with calling birds ;)
i have not ye4 begun to fight
the 8 is consumed
phantom consume
sweet, got it
in fact there are a lot of consumed words in the grid
the phantom caught has been driving me mad
so i should have ate the 8?
lol
Do nought!
okay, l's lassoed
lol grem -- enough before this is called the punbox
lasered?
I lambasted my Ls.
Hehe, sorry nan.
that puts me down to 6. so troops, ayudame!
I'm not a dame...ayu?
how about the last cy6 after dorothy's nemesis?
what do you need pip?
ayudame is spanish for help me
no hay de ayudarte, eres fuera de salvación
shorten the nemesis and pluralize
plural the 5 that precedes the storm
ahh, I no almost no Spanish
well poop, i didn't have that one either
*know!
"there is no helping you, you are beyond salvation" :P
I'm eating dinner, so at least I'm not beyond salivation.
don't know any spanish either other than the words like senor that continually pop up in the grid
LOL
i'm better at the stuff that gets said in a restaurant - less philosophy, more "hey, stop smacking my ass!" and "give me the spoons"
nm, it was the 1st cy5/18 i didn't have, now i have all my c's! just s's and t's remaining
I need to find that restaurant.
really, you don't. mediocre food, high prices, staff is mostly lifers who are always sharking other peoples' tables, it's a bit of a zoo
the bartender and i call it the island of misfit toys. every single one of us working there is a freak for some reason or another
think I'll go and watch the emmy's for awhile -- see u later
ewww...awards shows, boring
3 more, all t's
2
Hi Mom, hi everybody
hello
hi geegeew
i left!
that's 1, not i
Imaginary i?
not imaginary fireworks tho!
Emmys? Isn't it the Grammys?
congrats, pippin
It's the new one, the gremmys.
congrats pippin
hey look, i won the first gremmy!
You win the golden chog trophy.
i like the way it really looks like fireworks, it's a beautiful trophy
Much to my surprise, I have the Grammys on so I can see who all these Gaga people are etc
Sorry, we had to explode it after you received it.
i am underwhelmed by lady gaga
i think gaga is fascinating - the music is throwaway pop, but anyone who's trying to make a metacritical project out of pop stardom has my vote
so far I'm with you, dc, but I'd never encountered her before
hm. pephaps i should deign to watch more than the the half a video i could tolerate.
I've never metacritic I could stand.
but that's kind of like modern art - you've got a built in limited audience
ouch, grem!
oh dear, grem, you sound like my son and grandson -- hopeless cases
I can't stop once I get started.
my friend and i were talking a coupleweeks ago that she's sort of using the music as a platform for the fashion and the commentary - and to a large extent the fashion is commentary too
the fashion in the bit a saw was part of the turn-off for me
she's atalked about growing up feeling ugly, like a monster, and she's out to make the monster beautiful - not by changing it, but by declaring it hip and simply saying, this is beautiful deal with it
the music was a bigger turn-off, as it's a genre i generally dislike. Though i do like Aqua
well, all I've seen is the intro to the Grammys -- weird
that's a great message, pippin :)
sort of a project of forcing the public to look at other ways of being beautiful or glamorous, or whatever
Sounds good to me.
so you know, i don't feel the need to buy or listen to the albums, and i don't always like her fashipn choices, but i support what she's trying to do
well, I guess I need educating
nah - like i said, limited audience, no need to feel that way
I do get a kick out of the bits I've seen of Beyoncé, though
i have cy8 and la8, what are others, pls?
yes, Beyoncé is mostly fun.
ac8, an8
i think that's one of the problems with a lot of postmodern stuff, there's this elitism built in, like if you don't agree it's just cause you don't get it, and i don;t think that has to be true
ac8, an8, co8, ha8
gound the ha8
ty, gremlinn :)
seain, grem also has a lickety-type list in his profile, cause he's sweet that way
oops, I erased it already, but Une had it also
well, it's on babanon too
i only started 25 min ago :)
certainly the case with a lot of art, pippin. and hi :)
hi ata. sorry, i kind of geeked out there a little, i do that from time to time
hi ata -- like my triangle?
it's beeeaaaautiful!
it's interesting, pip
Oh, I had never visited that site. Impressive number of views (almost a million).
isnt it an iris of some sort?
Maybe, ata -- that seems to be the general opinion
what site, grem? I guess I missed something
Babblers Anonymous. I haven't clicked on all those links down there yet.
huh. so i guess i missed all the grammy stuff since it's credits. morbid curiosity stifled...
Oh -- I haven't either, grem.
I have clicked on one particular one a lot.
i think a lot of us have!
hmmm -- Beyoncé is on now and I'm not enjoying the noise.
or the flashing lights or the tossing of straight hair
I rather like straight hair.
too late for me to see what you're seeing, it's over where i am
naturally straight hair is rather fascinating to me, as my family's hair is very much not so.
hint for an8, pls?
it's the same as the ac8
it is a chemical word, derived from "anode electrolyte"
thanks
i have baby fine stick straight hair, you can touch it as much as you like
very soft and shiny and i don't even comb it (i keep it short)
pippin: I can?
people do all the time, what's a couple more?
heheh
my hair refuses to do anything but be 100% straight
I have nothing against straight hair -- it's the tossing of masses of it so that it gets all tangled in the face that I don't enjoy -- Lady Gaga and Beyoncé both did it -- new fad?
I'm totally in line with that.
exactly - did you have years of perms in the 80s too?
I don't like hair getting tangled in anyone's face. But bangs are nice.
my hair naturally does what some people pay for a body wave to get.
I wish I could have done, my hair is so thick that it refuses to curl LOL
I think I'll change to the next icon theme ata chose -- Fractals in nature
Wish I had thick hair!
i think we all wish we had different hair...
ata was just throwing suggestions out for sprite and she took the ones she liked :)
Not different, just more of it!
I *think* - Jilli - that that was a Japanese Iris of some variety
thick hair is lovely. until you want to a) plait it, b) curl it, c) do anything with it
have you tried a volumizing shampoo/conditioner, jellen?
Ata, I looked them up in Google but they didn't look the same. I wish the site where I found the image had identified it!
I found one or two Japanese ones that looked very similar, but none exactly the same
Jellen, I have fine, limp hair but recently the hairdresser used some "Curly Sexy Hair" on it and it does wonders for body (no obvious remarks, please, grem)
Oh yes, dc...my hair is just very thin and fine...
I can't think of one anyway.
LOL, grem ;)
good thing Tor isn't here :)
:-)
meh. bad movies make me sad.
At least I have more hair than Tim :-)
Me too, pipping!
He has his on the bottom of his face, right, jellen?
I mourn the time lost watching it and the resources wasted making it...
Yes, jilli
pooning with a purring kitty kind of makes up for bad movie tho
spooning, that is
brb with a new icon
ac, an, co, cy, what are the other two 8s?
I wish kitties could make up for the horror of Twilight
I recently introduced my cat to YouTube. She likes videos starring cats, birds, or ferrets.
la8
ha8
ty
there are 2 an8's
my cat is utterly fascinated by vidoes with other cats talking
twilight s beyond horror, i think it is one of dante's levels of hell
nope, one an8
other is ac8
2 an7, though
3 an7
it has its own level of hell
sorry, that's what i was thinking of. dumb pip!
Hi all! *waves* popping in for a few. Jilli -- I went looking up irises and I think the one you have is called 'White African Iris' ;-)
ooo yes, well done, fruittart!
well found, fruitttart
95 to go..brb, must take Joey out for his late walk first...
i need to be on the road about 6:30, so i must away for now. Good night and happy babbling, yall!
G'night, dc
night dcseain
*passes out smiling snowman cookies all around* the husband is telling me I should off to bed or I will regret it in the morning. I know he's right, but resist . . .
hey gremlinn, has your cat ever seen the simon's cat cartoons? mine likes them http://www.simonscat.com/index.html
Haven't seen that, will look.
hey all
FRUITTART!!!! (((many many hugs)))
don't be a stranger, fruittart... *wistful mama look*
Hey, stid!
stidmama!
I missed seain too, I see. *sigh* oh well. too many pink panther cartoons!
hi stid! I play a bit here and there but haven't been chatting much. Too many distractions to feel 'coherent'.
Well, I don't know if she'll be able to recognize what's going on, but I'll show her one later.
ah, I understand that, fruittart. I am only here because my brain is frazzled from studying.
which classes are you taking this semester?
ronia likes the sounds. the "fly guy"one is a great starter, with the buzzing. grabs attention right away
law and schooling, more learning theory, a once-a-week practicum in a real classroom, and workshops on teaching practice. :-D a full week!
I know they say actual student teaching is harder, but I am not sure how it could be more time consuming!
is the real classroom part the most fun for you?
I was a teaching assistant in grad school, and that was enough for me. I don't think I'd be good at real teaching.
absolutely! LOL I MUCH prefer being in contact with the kids. that's the energizing day. Everything else is soul-draining.
fruittart -- I hope you're still here -- thanks for the White African Iris -- most of the pix don't look like my icon but a couple do so I guess that's what it is/was.
were you teaching undergrads, gremlinn?
Yeah, in math, mostly first-year calculus.
New cion now (refresh)
I actually do pretty well with actual teaching, having done some unofficially as well as tutoring. But getting the additional ideas is nice too -- just wish they were more mixed in with actual practice.
hello jill
hi stid
oh yes ... that's a whole new level of hell LOL. when they don't even have to pay attention
I've had several friends who have gone the ed route and many describe the 'soul draining' part of theory courses. A necessary evil to get the piece of paper that lets you do what you are gifted at.
glad to help jilli :)
LOL fruittart! at least I am not the only one!
Hurry up and change, Mr. Puzzle!
oops. *runs to PB and rummages for choclits*
stid -- granddaughter is now working on her MA and teaching full time too -- but she's 25 ;)
yep. about half my age. *grin* but don't let anyone know I said that!
interesting, because i throve (thrived?) on the theory part of my ed classes, as much as i loved the teaching
Thrivened.
i thought of it as answering the question what schools/classes are for, and therefor what we want from teachers and students and curricula, all of which tells you what you want to do on monday morning because you know what your goals is (for you and them)
fruittart, your icon and flickr pix are making me hungry, and I'm on a diet!
I hated the teaching I had to do during my phd. Dreaded it every term!
*decides to not share sugar cookies the stidkids made with jill*
awww, stid!
I was in the Ph.D. program, but I gave up and just got an MA - I didn't have any interest in pursuing research, and I wasn't cut out for teaching.
uh oh, what did I miss?
hello again. Back after doing borring chores
I was given all kinds of cookies and candy for Xmas!
I would share, jill, just they're um... not diet-ready!
can anyone give me a clue for the en 6/18 and is the en 7/28 plural?
hey lady!
hey PAV!
though actually I loved lecturing, I just hated teaching in practicals
et 6/18 you mean?
yum! sugar cookies...I have my annual physical in two weeks...and I'll need to celebrate with something cuz I've lost about 25 lbs...
e + sharp thing animals claw you with
i loved most of the teaching, and am a definite theory geek, but didn't do well with the lack of structure at that level nor with all the paperwork and accountability teaching entails
you could celebrate with a movie... or a walk somewhere nice?
you, pav! I've only lost 16 so far.
mostly when I had that mild flu and didn't want food.
I am still trying to get my weight to stabilize... still losing slowly, and I don't want to lose any more. I decided that yesterday when I realized that almost everything I own is now too big.
(that was supposed to be "good for you, pav")
well done jill -- but don't go overboard!
I was thinking sugar treats, stid, but I do walk daily, in & out, up and down,
Hugs PAV
I understood Miss Jilli..ty
I lost about 50lb last year, and aim to do about half of that this year
Theoretical question: if you weigh 205 pounds and are decapitated and your head weighed 5 pounds, does that count as losing 200 pounds or 5?
I wish I could shed another 10 or so.
well, if I get started now picking up things between here and my bedroom, I might make it to bed by midnight, so I'd best be off ;-) nice chatting with you all. *poof*
that is a HUGE amount of weight to lose Atalante!
I cut out most sugar from my diet and drinks...
LOL ((fruittart)) be well.
I was a good girl!!
ewww gremlinn!
grem, do you write for Stephen Wright?
I think that the "you" is the head, so you're losing the 200.
are we chickens? grem, or human...?
No, but I do write my own stuff.
cuz if we're chickens , we'd be losing the 5
That'd be a pretty big chicken.
so, if I dump the body, I could eat all the choclit eclairs I want... *considers new alternative*
Ata I just read that you lost a lot of weight. First thought: wow what did hubby do.
well, you'd still not gain any weight, but you have much nourishment either...
Yeah, eating at all would become quite difficult.
didn't notice, lol!!
*wouldn't have *
I just figured that cordial and soda water = fizzy drink no cals
I don't think he even once said anything flattering or encouraging
Ata I was hinting that you kind of dumped the hubby
no cals in the cordial, herin?
thats this year, herin :P
is he really that unkind and unsupportive atalante? *worried mama look*
yep. he just doesn't notice. it's not that he deliberately is mean, he just has other priorities
(((atalante))) well from my perspective, you look fine, of course!
Yes there is in Cordial Jill but it beats drinking coke
Gee Ata just knock me off my chair
which is why I've spent the last week or so trying to talk to OSU about research positions there ... :D
oooh atalante! *sending hopeful stern determined YES thoughts to everyone at OSU* *you need to hire atalante*
oooh, great people there, good luck!
they have a perfect fit research-wise. they do coastal zone management, practical and theory stuff. so hopefully ...
ok 1000 pts 89 left
go PAV go!
OSU? (parm my ignorance)
1531 pts left, PAV
ORegon STate University
thanks, stid
stidkids and bluebird are going to sleep now... and Lucky is BORED TO TEARS
(he wanted you to know that)
hopefully they'd at least take me on as a visiting research fellow, that doesn't involve any money or real commitment on their end and gives me an official research position
pooooor Lucky
oof, i am so tired. i feel compelled to ring in the flip but i don't see being able to actually find any words
I would love that atalante. I would really really love to have you nearby!
no worries about that pippin -- wanted to ask, were you in school in Tacoma/Seattle at some point? you said you used to live around here
it's all in the pipeline ... we're trying to sort out the practicalities now - especially visas *sigh*
(Interesting group on Grammys -- missed the name -- semi-electronic singing, if you get my drift)
too bad i wasn't doing this when i still lived in tacoma, i would have loved to know more than one person when i was there
clue on what the last 7 starts with please: ac, an x3; co, cy, en, et, ha, la x2; ta, and un.
LOL ... well you just have to come back and visit, pippin!
i moved to wa after i dropped out of my phd program - spent 6 months in oly and 6 in tacoma and both were very bad for me
I am sorry you had a bad time here.
so7, Gee
but i have lots of great friends in seattle, i just couldn't see myself starting over again for the 3rd time in a year in an even more expensive city
ty
would you have had a bad time wherever you were then? PhD programs tend to screw with the mind
yes, seattle's living expenses are prohibitive
Ata what about fur kids?
i was a little screwed up, i will admit, but i think ultimately i am not buildt for the west coast. i found people to be less emotionally open with strangers than i am used to, and that the label of stranger lasts a lot longer
furkids are coming with me
yes! what about silverclaw and hobbit??? (how could I forget that)
I could never leave my Hobbit behind!!
yah
Will they get their own passports?
they can do that? isn't quarantine hard?
they have passports! nope, no quarantine from UK -> US
oh! that is nice.
a long trip, but not a tremendously long separation.
Yah. My b.fs parents floormop dog has a passport
cos we have no rabies etc. all our animals are internationally accepted :)
passport? for critters? *shakes head*
NO rabies. wow.
Ata have you talked to hubby about this?
no rabies. the joy of being an island!
We don't have rabies here either
but we do have tiny little critters that kill
No rabies on this little island either
you have some rather "interesting" critters, lady
that's nice jill -- rabies is such a worrisome disease
we have no rabies, no deadly creatures! well, nothing properly deadly.
Proud to live here
no anymore, at least atalante -- didn't there used to be bears and wolves and lions in England?
wolves definitely in scotland
there were/are? wild boars in the UK
Paris had wolves
wild boar in ireland, I think
maybe UK too
we have a few things that can kill you. but you'd be unlucky to come across them - eg an adder can kill with it's venom, but youd generally have to be a very tiny child or an elderly person with heart problems to start with
most adder bites are just painful
hubby's ancestor in Wales c 1400 saved the King's life by shooting a wild boar and was granted lands in Ireland and a coat of arms with wild boars on it which I have.
the welsh king or english king?
English, I think -- could a Welsh king award lands in Ireland etc?
See Jill you need to right this stuff down.
as in correctly?
I doubt the English king could!
I should take a picture of the family crest thing which I carved in wood.
but I'm not sure about whether we ever governed Ireland
hi everyone, sorry herin, couldn't pass that one
that would make an interesting icon jilli
the english kings granted lands in ireland for centuries, with no regard for the people who already lived there... it presaged the granting of lands in the americas with no regard for the people who already there.
started with king john, atalante, he was given ireland as his so he wouldn't be lackland anymore (or so I have heard)
hi flosey -- lovely fractal
hey flosey!
ty jilli - yours too, and interesting story, yes, thanks
hi stid
flosey, we lifted the same bit from wikipedia :)
lol that sounds about right!
I keep typing words like alcove and love and ... *sigh* down to 61 and seriously stuck
yes, but I left more out
HI Flossey.
this one was harder than it appeared at first, stid
that's what my Dad called me herin
awww. Pardon my typo
yes it was pippin
Une posted the list in her profile...also at Bab Anon
Pippin like the Run lola run ion
icon
no problem herin, I rather liked it
ty!
The papal bull Laudabiliter of Pope Adrian IV, a native of Hertfordshire, England, was decreed in 1155. It granted the Angevin King Henry II of England who ruled from Anjou in France, the title Dominus Hibernae. Laudabiliter enabled the king to invade Ireland, in order to bring the country into the European sphere. In return, Henry was required to remit a penny per hearth of the tax roll to the Pope.
I am not going to list, too hard for me to run back and forth these days. but thanks
Ahh...just thought you might want the option...
Jilli, did David take that picture?
Interesting, ata
thanks atalante, that squares with my recollection
our 1 English pope :)
yes, options are nice jellen! how are you? is the weather getting any better?
my icon? No, flosey. He works in black and white -- very rarely, recently, in a bit of colour
ok > 100 words found, > 1000 points, so am off to do bad things...we'll see y'all on the weekend next..ciao!
enjoy!
ah, interesting, but it is a clever pic
bad things, pav? Have fun!
well done PAV! see you again next weekend!
Pippin random fact the guy I flatted with is related somehow to the music producer of the film
oh cool, i love random stuff like that
I was living with him when it came out. Good movie
big lag here
I want a veeeeery large grid please
I don't, thankyou
999 words, please
grem, wash your mouth out with soap
I second that Gremlin. THis is my last week to play
oh, ok then herin, you can have it
I might have to pass
By the way Pip I have to disagree with you not wanting to become a Professor. my cousin is on her way to doing that and said its great excuse to dress badly
why is it your last week, herin?
Classses start up next monday
that was one of the things that appealed to me too, but the other issues proved insurmountable
I want 56 words for the new grid
Sometimes things happen
Oh, I see
