it's in her profile but I can't remember who it is
trying to recall - she mentions it in her profile

last night we were watching the Oscars and our DirecTV went out just as they were about to announce the best actress. Grrr
it went to miley cyrus, west. honest.
WA 7 called?
me 7 if not called
we weren't watching it real time so I looked that and the best movie up on the internet
nbt
yes mlf
We would have liked to see the reactions
wally called it ML
y's done
I was really disappointed Meryl Streep didn't win
Did the give Hurt Locker Best Picture because they were tired of looking like a bunch of America-hating elitists, or because they were inwardly seething with jealousy over James Cameron's phenomenal success?
wtg dee!
Oh, hello everyone
not sure doug and hello
Dougllas neither its because it was a real film
i'm off to bed, happy babbling, yall!
good night seain happy sleep

i wanted the start of precious to win i have seen sandra bullock in a lot of good films that she was great in and never got oscar nods
lol dc one more for the road?
night, dc
Sandra Bullock looked good in the clip that was shown
think tht was planned west?
I haven't seen any of the nominees so I can't have an opinion now
MLF, it depends on what one means by real. On the one hand, I've heard a lot of military people mock the details of the movie. On the other hand, it seems to give people a feeling of what it might be like to be there. So yes, I suppose.
i mean id dint see this movie she was in this time but i have seen her in others
what was planned ML that they showed a good clip?
coudl be west..but maybe not
it's not a documentary, douglas. it's entertainment. so the miliatry crit shouldn't matter, should it?
doug i think hurt locker was more real and not fantasy so it had a better chance
Cameron must have been just a little miffed that his ex beat him out
west lol i was thinking that too
was AQ 7 called?
Clues are up
I really like movies that entertain
thanks lickety

ML just read what you typed I loved Martin and Baldwin they were a great team not sure about the song and dance number in the beginning though with Dougie Howser lol
i have tow letters greyed ugghh
west i agree dougie howser number wasvery strange and seemed very out of place
maybe he's going to star in a Broadway musical?
he has done broadway before lol
I didn't know that
I haven't seen his new show so I still think of him as Dougie
he's hosted the tony's (and the emmys)

I had that one diz it's not from there
thanks for the help though
Si 6
pu8
if you can make a word from two different tiles, babble says it's from the higher or lefter one by default
PU 6
it does? there are default rules in babble? lol
so when you're looking for something from the lower or more right-ish tile, oftentimes it will start from that tile and at some point incorporate the other identical tile later in the word
freep is that P-U 8 soemthing we shoudl know?
I see
ty for pu 8
hmm. I knew it, mlf. not a common word, though, but not unknown (and similar in spelling, though not meaning, to the pi7)
Pi 7 i dont have

I haven't seen the 2nd one
Ah, thanks all
thanks dee
hi everyone
hi flosey hope your game went well
yw hi flosey
I was thinking, "It couldn't start with ta or te because that would go with the northern t" D'oh!
just a little joke that babble plays on us from time to time doug
not too bad west, will find out in the morning - we don't do the scoring anymore
scoring is done on computer
and no flood in the kitchen?
and we don't have the program
Got an email today with the subject "Did You Sing Power Of Attorney?" Trial-la-law!
no more flooding, thanks
that's good flosey
hope we don't see any more of that for a good long time
can't agree more flosey that must have been horrible
did you retorte the email doug?
lol ruru
but we didn't lose any of the carpet west, which was a blessing
well if i've done nothing else tonight i've greyed the bottom row
that is really amazing flosey
nice one, ruru
yes it could have been much worse
okay, y'all... 200 down but I must sleep
good night freep well done

maybe
pu 7,44 is also odd
wa7 is where elmer fudd gets drugs
hello all -- late after bridge
Even if Avatar was 160 minutes of species and civilizational self-loathing, I'm happy it won an Oscar for visual effects
lol ru hi jili hugs
oh yeah lol
hi jilli
I am glad James Cameron didn't win the oscar
why, ruru?
I think it would have had to doug
Thinking that es6 would have started at the southern e, but noooo....
why ru
hi jilli
I'm ticked M Streep didn't win; she is most talented actress alive
he is a self-absorbed narcissitic jerk for starters
tell us how you really feel
I thought M Streep would win
that's for sure dee
I hear you dee.. Sandra Bullock?
hi flosey -- I sent the email
terribly disappointed... S Bullock is improving, but not worthy yet
thanks jilli, will work on that tomorrow
I think Helen Mirren should have won
did you see that our satellite shut off just as they were announcing best actress? so we missed the end
awww
I've always liked S. Bullock, but M Streep is, in my opinion, far ahead
Meryl Streep is one class act
definitely
Meryl streep is amazing.. but how do your recognize one performance over another with her.. she is such a chameleon
oh, bummer, west -- but I wanted Meryl streep too, not having seen the thing sandra bauulock was in.
I like to see the reactions
Is Sandra Bullock forgiven for that movie where she played a socially inept crossword composer?
missed that one doug
what was name of that douglas?
she is a B actress ...
that's what makes MS such a good actress she doesn't play herself in every role
who is a B?
All About Steve...kinda came and went, didn't it?
sandra bullock is a b actress
aww I saw that... hideous I thought
agreed ru
not too memorable doug
was everyone happy about Jeff Bridges?
best part of that movie was the red boots
truly Speed was such an important movie that they had to continue the story.. **choke ... choke ***
haven't seen that movie yet, so can't say west
lol
I haven't seen any of them but I thought Jeff's win might have been a mercy vote
I am happy about Jeff Bridges..
he is overdue.
So is Morgan Freeman one of these days.
I think I'm happy about Jeff Bridges -- didn't see the movie
don't get me wrong... I love the true story of The Blind Side, and I applaud the real people, but I think SB got it because it was a pc movie..
jeff seemed like he was staying in character
THey never give the oscars to the black actors on their best films (except Halle Berry)
could be dee not too many of them out there these days
and Sidney Poitier
oooh I love SP
was Morgan Freeman in Driving Miss Daisy?
yes..
last year watched some of his black and white movies... very interesting man
he was great in that
he has kept his integrity too I think
yes west
he was also great in Shawshank Redemption
Wondering if I should ask for help in getting one of the southern e words so that I could have nbt
oh yes one of my favorite movies

that was it thanks guys
elmer fudd would say "be vewwy vewwy quiet, i'm studying for my history qu***"

west -- nice ice-cream truck :)
how many words are there today??
245 diann
jilli when I was looking for the picture I found out there were a fleet of them..I always thought there was just one
ah jilli, I remember dad cranking a car like that - back in the 30s
cars have come a loooong way!
they're still in business around here Peter Palagi means ice cream
I don't think I ever saw an ice cream truck until I had kids!!
I never saw an ice cream truck in Canada -- in NY there was competition between the Good Humor man and the Bungalow Bar
one bt -- the upper T on the left.
don't have it jilli, and still have 6 bts
a little drunk?
I keep finding T words but they come from the top T
also a giant and plural
oh jilli I was not asking if you were lol
try t + at4/4
just forget everything I said you asked for the left
it's ta5/10 a plural
Little Man Ta**
are you still here?
see you all in a bit then
I'm back, west -- had to restart
ok, NBT -- thanks west and city!
city, I totally agree with what CS Lewis sys in your profile!
is there anyone here?
I'm still plodding along
did you get wa7 jlli?
Is it just me or is this a hard one?
I'm not finding it easy
no, flosey -- came in too late
have 85 words
59 here -- do you have the wa7? Can you clue it?
darn, and now red
no, sorry, don't have it
Good morning/evening all. wa7 - without direction?
all I saw was somebody thinking it was a weird word
thanks, Haz, and good morning to you!
ty Haz,
You're welcome - I'm finding smaller words, not so many big ones.
and that gave me 2 more words :)
have all the ws and ys
I have all the Qs
giving up on the u words, maybe they'll come more easily in the morning
me too jilli
Jilli, sorry, wasn't ignoring you - had to restart too and got distracted by shiny things on the way back here.
up7 - out of bed in the morning.
thanks again Haz
shiny things?
us5 - us plus most of not far
ty haz -- that's a bit strange
thanks for those, Haz.
and again, tks Haz
merci encore, haz!
It's babble, jillibus, expect nothing less.
well, if up7 is valid, why isn' upsit?
We talk quite happily about an up***ing somewhere.
true, O queen
It's okay, you can stop curtseying.
sorry, I went too low and can't get up
That's what I was worried about. A slight nod of the head is grand.
didn't someone do that in front of Queen Elizabeth ?
at your command, your maj
I'll agree that another up6 is strange - up6/24 - delivered heavenward.
didn't hear about that -- how awful!
sigh
don't remember any details, just a vague memory
I don't remember either, flosey, was this recent?
Or does Queen Elizabeth refer to the first?
oh no, and, as I said, it's a vague memory
not even sure of that
Evening is this a tuffy?
I think so herin, and hi
Hello, herin, it's okay, certainly not the worst we've ever had.
needlecase alert
Thank you and hello
volcano alert
aha, just got the ti8
hi OSGD
thanks jilli
wtg flosey!
want a clue jilli?
HI OSGMA.
sure, flosey :)
My half sis posted the question of "how bad do I look to get the explosive tests 4 times at 4 airports?'' She works for the army and yes she is a little bit scary
Lol, herin!
do you have ti5/10?
I just called her dodgy
no, but I have the kleenex before that

you said cheers so I cheersed back
don't have it herin
right o. Thanks
there's a pu8/50 which I don't have yet
pu8 - French word meaning strong, mighty.
Thank yuo Haz
It ends in the picnic pest and picks up a full quota of plural letters along the way.
got it -- ty haz again
I always remember it as a word that is rude
You're welcome.
the hybrid toyota is here :)
ty Haz
wow thx haz
missing first 2 pu6 have the last one
You're welcome, diz and flosey.
hi diz
hey flos
hello diz
pu6 - first letters of the strong French, first letters of not far (2)
dunno french...lol
hey jill
It was clued just a while ago for the pu8. Or pu, verb form of to be, first letters of not far.
got the first one, thanks Haz
flosey, you said you had the last pu6 -- can you clue it?
catish
sheesh, another strange one
thanks, tho, flosey
do you have the 7 before it?
The sedon pu6 removes one of the double consonants from the pu7/44.
add a vowel to the ending
That should be the second pu6..
no, I don't have the 7
pu7/44 o a cat followed by the first three letters (backwards) of the Beatles submarine.
ty Haz for them both
now going to see what they mean
Thank you
You're welcome.
thank you
helllooooo, just dropping in, won't be able to start grid till this afternoon, going to KWT today
You're welcome.
good gawd another ODD word...pu 7...thanx for thar

hello ata -- what's KWT?
Hello Ata - got your wellies and your gloves? It's cooooold.
pi6 - has compassion.
thanks Haz
hah -- just over halfway
No problem, flosey.
I should be all disciplined and leave the rest of this until later.
I get to sit in a warm office being made cups of tea!
wtg jilli, need 3 more to half way
That's not fair! I need to think of you shivering.
What is KWT and did you get my male?

sorry! we even get cake sometimes, and we have a cafe that makes mozzarella paninis that they deliver to the office with salad
nope sorry
Hello, swmbo.
Hi SW
You're sure you're not a civil servant in training, Ata?
*gasp*
:) hi everyone!
ata -- we still want to know what KWT is
ATA did you see that link?
Kent Wildlife Trust
*smug* becaue I know what KWT is.
yes, herin!!
ah, thanks!
You're not allowed to be smug, Haz -- that's ata's job
But I allow myself a little smug now and again, just to know what it must be like in Ata's world.
Haz, here's one for you!
Hello everyone. Ensuite isn't accepted!
she's allowed momentary smugness
Hi Lynxx
Hello, lynxxx.
Oh that's all right then, if it's ok with you, ata
hi lynxxx
as long as it's only momentary!
Ata i did send you Anikan :Dt
Yes, it's fleeting glimpses only.

It's an interesting grid, FM.
I'll tell you this afternoon when I actually do it LOL
hmmm an interesting one, that could be read several ways but will be a pleasure deferred till later. I saw that you are off to the KWT Ata
Interesting in a good way.
yep, in about 2 minutes and counting :D
Ah good.
Lots of simple fours and then the bigger words start to appear.
what will you being doing there today?
Drinking tea and giving orders.
oooo. exciting seaweed stuff. LOL
LOL
I want analysis and epistle.
She's a civil servant in training, she just hadn't been able to confess it before.
and drinking tea, yes
Oh btw ruby got her first fireworks yesterday and was SO happy.
is that what civil servants do?
I did spend 2 1/2 hours on the beach in the freezin cold yesterday, if that helps
They drink tea and shuffle papers - ask Katie, she'll confirm it.
drinking tea is compulsory.
Good for ruby!
100 left for tomorrow, goodnight everyone
Bye flosey.
Nighty night flosey
bye Flosey
Haz, I posted this pic for you!
Hello lynxxx
I'm off too. Back later!
OH, let me see what it is.
have fun Ata
What a pic flosey! TTFN Ata
Isn't it a mercy he's grown old so gracefully?
Bye Ata.
Is that really him?
He has certainly improved with age!
I agree, Haz, yes, apparently!
You didn't see him at the Oscars then Haz - think he has regressed
yes lyn, he's showing signs of aging
It was kind of Haz to let him attend the oscars wasn't it?
No, didn't see any of the Oscars. Did he really have red hair? Whoever cut his hair in that picture needed more practice.
pretty bad hair!
Maybe it was a candid shot taken before the hairdresser had finished. Perhaps it was a work in progress.
ok, off to bed, poof
Bye flosey
Bye, flosey.
BBL Stew wants attention
Bye lynxxx. I'd better go as well, wallpapering awaits and I can finish this later.
Bye Haz see you later.
See you later - have a good day!
phone so I too will exit stage left. TTFN
good morning everybody
Let it be announced that through the EXTENDED help of FM and Robbie and Dachef, I was successfully carried into fireworks yesterday!!!

hi pms, are we the only ones here?
Maybe. I've only just started.
I started 12 minutes ago
spent
hi sugar
trying to get to half
Hi everyone!
gm brookie
or is it good nite?
gm here, but barely! And good "late morning" to you!
ty, trying desperately to get to half before lunch, but I don't think I'll make it!
It is a good grid today, but it does seem to get tougher as I go on...
Or you could always take a really late lunch to meet your halfway goal!
the first 50 were a snap! these last 3 before half are very hard!
husband wd murder me!
I take it he's not a babbler?
raofl!!!
my bf is really trying to get into babble, god bless him
he even paid the lifetime membership to go pro
you are v lucky! my husband doesn't believe in ANY fgames
games
got my half, see you later
even non-online games?
congrats and enjoy your lunch!
Morning Ruby are you still smiling? and Hi Brookie
nope, won't even play scrabble on a board with me
Hi FM!
I owe it all to you FM, for carrying me to my first firworks!!!
It was fun and I was happy for you :)
not smiling so much, had to go to the Fr tax office this AM, but they were actually very nice
ugh taxes :(
you and Robbie and Dachef!!
nice people at the tax office makes the whole task much easier
although taxes are never fun
and I have to file in both places
it is just too hard for me and husband is no help. He never reads the codes and then I hv to take full responsibility
surely your husband has some redeeming qualities?
see you after lunch and before dr's appt! ((hugs))
Byeee
bye!
Why is it, everytime I stit down to babble the phone rings :( BBS
hi all
Hi Pinny, are you still there?
i'm here
I'm having loads of trouble with this grid. How are you doing?
i've only just started
i anticipate trouble later!
Do you go on right to the end?
i do, even if it kills me, which it often does
but there're usually a bunch of helpful folk willing to give clues if necessary
I am still at the stage of having to look at yesterday's wordlist to learn some of the more unusual words.
but the clues are often really helpful.
i wouldn't worry about that - i've been playing for six months and still find dozens of words i don't know each day
hello all - guernsey are you using lickety's list?
Yes, i am. It's very useful, but can be very frustrating when i think I've used every combination of letters but find I still need 6 et words
Incidentally, who is lickety?
worst is when you get the list and find you have the plural but not the singular
sometimes i find it useful to go down my own list and check on plurals
lickety is a nice man from Australia whose wife plays under the name Mr President and he kindly set up his clue page
Such a great idea. Thank you Mr Presiden'ts husband
yep God Bless Lickety
Have you been doing this for long?
had to check - since sept 2006
Wow. i'm hoping my present addiction will wear off. i've only been at it for a month but its taking up far too much time.
especially as i really enjoy the chat as well.
no the addiction tends to stick and I have to look every day and have a go
I'm trying not to give into the temptation to go professional.
I think you only get to see the tile stats for a certain number of weeks - thereafter you only see the grid and the number of words
That's right. That's when i started to use Lickety.
Oh OK - but sometimes lickety does not post - and going pro is not too expensive and it is once off for life - so worth it i think
I can see that there are some groups of people who get to know each other really well, which is nice.
By the way, i have a cat who looks exactly like yours.
quite fascinating that people all over the world get so friendly and will probably never meet - oh thats my Chucky boy
Mine's inappropriately called Violet
Oh you have a ginger "girl"?
Yes. Only one in four, i gather. She's very very naughty - has made holes in the stair carpet by pulling out the threads
interesting that ginger fur colour can be more common in males - i believe tortoiseshell is always female
Actually, Violet has one black whisker. Yes, i think that's right about tortoiseshells. Are cats popular in SA. They are the most common pet over here.
our abby kitty is a ginger girl
hello babble friends! grid is a right old roach motel today - lured me in with a big count, promise of lots of easy finds....got nbt, and then whammo. grid lock
howdy trif
howdy crossy dear!
Hi crossy - yes most households have both dogs and cats as pets - we have 3 cats and just the one dog
Hi, Crosshair. What's an 'abby' kitty?
we are a two cat house at this time
lol gurnsey our cat is named "aberacadabera" we call her abby for short
hmmmm - enable is up to its old tricks, I see ---- I have been "pissy" many a time, and I am pissy now, since enable won't legitimize my pissy attitude!
aberacadabera hocuspocus melbourne---cant quite fit it all on her file lol
I wanted pissy too. And pissle, which is part of a bull over here.
ty for the explanation, Cross
dare I ask which part?
I think you can guess. lol
isn't it "pizzle"?
that reminds me, crossy, diggity needs a new license...thanks for the reminder!
Oh, perhaps it is. Definitely won't get it from this grid then.
Bye all. Off to do a search on London bus routes.
bye
good luck with THAT girl!
ooooooh - just found the DREADED ta5 that I cannot eradicate from my garden! It hid from me all winter, and now here it is, taunting me from within the grid! (((((shudder)))))
ooooooh - just found the DREADED ta5 that I cannot eradicate from my garden! It hid from me all winter, and now here it is, taunting me from within the grid! (((((shudder)))))
does it rhyme with the cute monkey faced flower?
I must have become invisible
sorry jean in attacking the laundry pile whilst i babble
too late, I've already called my therapist
yes, it does jean. but it will ruin you life, and your garden if you let it go to seed just once. A mistake I will pay for for years
the rapist
that's what my son says crossy
pah! it takes na 5/10 but not na 5/9 i cant have just one now? lol
HA! greyed the w - yay me!
yaa for triff!
Good morning everyone!
gm sea
top of the morning to ye seaspray my lass!
lol did you move Crossy? I detect a new accent
Meetup is not a word? See you later.
big word in The land of the Unemployed for sure
good afternoon all
ive had so many meeting the businesses are a blur
howdy sprite;))
hiya crossy :)
i showed that laundry who is boss today its coming up to 8 am and ill have 3 loads out of the dryers in 15 minutes:))
woooot crossy! *stares admiringly at the big man*
horrya for crossy:)
horray even
I had similar plans for today, but my body was in anarchy and forced me to sleep.
now,the clean laundry pile is another matter;((
bring it to Haz. She loves ironing.
back from bus stop shuffle, hoping the letters rearranged themselves in my absence....
hiya Trif
if that is what you long for, darling, just leave the window open when the wind blows
who said anything about an iron? lol 90% of the rags are wash and wear,id just take it folded and put away lol
crossy, same here. And I tell my kids, if they want to buy something that needs ironing, they must iron it themselves.
last time i saw the iron,it was functioning as a bookend on one of the bookcases
I actually sort of like ironing - it is a good mindless task, and I always get a great feeling of a job well done when it is finished, since you can see how nice everything looks right away
last time here was when there was a little dent in one of my love's canoe paddles. I believe he used it to get the dent out.
my m-i-l irons teaa towels and underwear..;/
true, Trif! I am a great hand at folding laundry, am almost as good as an iron. ;)
I iron the cloth napkins, crossy, does that count?
no,top end cloth dinner nappies are different
dinner nappies - lol! the idea!
crossy, so did mine! She was still alive when our son was born and she came over to help while I had to stay at the hospital. When I came home, everything was ironed! Underwear! Clean rags!
I was baffled but truly grateful, grin.
mine used to iron undershirts, which I never saw the logic of....
yup,you know your in trouble when you find that your future m-i-l irons the cleaning rags
she told me she just folded everything on the ironing table, and couldn't help herself putting the iron on even the cleaning rags. She was sweet, I was really sorry when she died. She didn't judge me for not ironing :)
morning all
morning peri!
hello periwinkle
oh for gawds sake - secondo made this big drama over me writing her a note this morning, so she could get off the bus at another girl's house this aver, and I just found the note on the kitchen table, forgotten. do I drop it off at school, or let her swing?
depends on if you want another drama or just feel generous.
technically, I do pass the school on my way to work....but if I keep bailing her out, she is NEVER gonna remember this stuff!
if you really want my advice, drop it off, lol. You are never going to reeducate her. Or anyone that adult. Save your energy for something better.
thanks sprite....gonna get ready for work, so see you around!
lovely, have a save drive!
not hasppy with this grid
i used to think that, till you end up running them to school because they sleep late, run thier lunch in cause they leave it at home, run notes in,run gym clothes in..spend your whole life delivering crap to the school
for kids, yes. For m-i-l's, no.
need to find as much as I can quickly, going to take care of my great nephew for a few hours soon. he is 8 months old and cu** as can be. he is a really easy baby to care for
lovely periwinkle. Enjoy him.
heolp with the 8's pls
my parents NEVER did that, cross...
sorry I just started
they had 7 kids... there were rules, and that was one - you forgot it, you live with the consequences
hi kje! Our son has earned himself a week of detention at school, must be at school from 7.45 am till 17.00 pm every day for the whole week. Getting up early is very difficult for him, so he wants our help. We told him he needs every practice he can get if it is that difficult for him, so he must do it himself.
Mornin' Dears
hiya hego
hi there hego!!
uh oh... detention - hope whatever he did was worth it!
I think being a parent is the toughest job
lol s prite,we need c-4 to get our kid out of be on time
of course it is... it is 24/7/365 and never ends
NEVER ends.
he and a couple of friends managed to make a mess of the school internet system. They were messing around with the plugs, daring eachother, just before the holidays. Then after, the whole thing just didn't start up properly anymore. He is getting what he deserves for not keeping his hands off other people's stuff, we told him.
good for you Sprite.
hard at that age... it seems like SUCH a clever idea when you are doing something, sprite - LOLOL
must run - see ya
I don't, crossy. Either he gets up, or he is late and must come in extra early the next few days. The school is pleasantly strict. Our son tends to get out of bed, put out the alarm and go back to bed. He is the only one who can change that.
*hugs* kje!
Bye kje
I see I took Trif's question the wrong way. I thought she was talking about m-i-l secunda. Guess she me5 her daughter... ouch.
lol,my kids is currently doing extra school service for being tardy.he is in the library 1 hour a day after school reshelving books
If you wait about 30 years, you get to see them go through all this with their kids. And laugh.
I can't wait. *giggle*
It's GREAT!
last year he was caught drawing stuff on the brick walls of the school with chalk,so he spent a month picking up trash along one of our towns walking paths
I am slightly jealous, hego!
i cannot wait to be a grandpa:))))
very fitting punishments, crossy
The toughest one I had now has a kid just like her. AAH, sweet revenge. lol
I have a friend with a daughter and she says the sa4 thing. She LOVES hearing the stories about her granddaughter and then telling daughter dear she was exactly the sa4. Revenge served cold, lol.
yup!
revenge is always a dish best served cold;)
am not sure about revenge being a good thing, but a bit of gloating is human, right?
hehe, baby sit the little darling for the afternoon, pump the full of sugar, wind them up and send them home;))
Actually we have a lot of fun te***ing her about it.
my friend also says she will not educate the child, just spoil it. The rights of the grandma, she calls it.
Oh, yes.
up grammas and granpas are all about fun;0
I think it is wonderful if a child has a place where it can be spoiled and be admired as a miracle. As long as the parents can handle the rest.
so what does peter sellers call it when a lady sunbathes without her upper bikini part?
what
tuple4. Alas, it is not valid.
lol sprite now you have me wanting to dig up the old pink panther movies with peter sellers
nor is cuple4
hehehe they are good, in their way, crossy.
oh but that was close to a real word! There is justice in the world yet.
hm that wasn't supposed to be a stopper
we're just immersed Sprite.
I am glad :)
this is a big one for me.
crossy is immersed int eh darn laundry;(
yesterday was the easiest one ever.
aw crossy! Good man, but keep on babbling! ;)
I need to hit the laundry soon myself.
sigh..my work is never done
yesterday's was very friendly for a small one.
you are always needed, dear crossy. It is not a bad thing ;)
aaww poor Crossy
it is amazing, btw. I wanted to refrain from binge eating for Lent. Having serious eating disorders, this is usually a disaster. But so far it is just working! I have been ill, been under stress both emotionally and from money issues, and I haven't binged once.
Good work, Sprite!
yaa for sprite!!
Food is just too darn nice.
:D Gives me hope things can be changed for the better. Changing your habits for 40 days is long enough to build up a better habit, they say.
thanks :D
the bad thing about eating disorders is that you still need to eat. If you are addicted to smoking, you quit smoking fully. Drinking, no more alcohol. Gambling, no more gamling. But with eating, you can't just say no more food. It is tricky.
As someone who quit smoking, I understand what you're going through. You can do it.
thanks hego! And wtg on quitting smoking! Not easy at all.
Never thought of that Sprite. Interesting.
I quit years ago, but it was the hardest thing I ever did. A true addiction.
that was why I thought of doing it for Lent. Not some diet or something low in calories to take the place of bingeing. But 'simply' quitting eating snacks in any form, or overeating anything in general. Not finding solutions to keep the habit, but to really quit it.
As you said, it's not about quitting something, it's about making new habits. Healthy ones.
You can learn to love veggies. lol
that is so true, hego. And I can feel there is power in doing it during Lent. Some communual energy from other people trying to change things for the better, maybe.
Good attitude. Go Sprite.
do you go to OA meetings sprite?
Hi Pinny
hi hego
oh I do love veggies. Most of them anyway. My love is a marvellous cook. I used to either not eat at all for times on end, or eat only snacks in huge quantities. Very weird and sick patterns in my brain about food. Worked on those for a long time. Now it is paying off.
hi PinnyP
hi sprite
no I don't, PinnyP. I feel I need to do this on my own, though I have tried group therapy. But it didn't help me feel supported, just being exploited.
opps, and here i have been going on about gastronomic delights;(( crossy bad
crossy, I love it when you do that.
food good
that sucks :( going it alone can be really hard, and is such a symptom of our disorder (the desire to isolate)
good point Pinny
you're one of us, PinnyP? Am sorry, but also a little glad for not being alone :)
Good morning, all. Yeah, Crossy.... talk bacon to us, baby!
hi Judi!
Hi Judi :-)
we love it when you talk bacon
crossy, it is lovely to hear about good food. And about loving food the way you love bacon. Eating disorders aren't about that at all and those are things I need to learn.
Crossy?
put away that laundry and come back here, young man ;) Tell us what's for dinner today.
well here is one just for you sprite, a nice whole wheat or spicnach pasta, and what you do isget a nice vegetable cream cheese and melt it down in a pan on medium heat with 4 tbs of water.when it is smooth add cooked pasta and simmer for 5 minutes add 1/2 cup of cooked sweet baby peas and serve.garnish with a few shakes of parm cheese, fresh ground pepper and a sprinkle of oregeno
Crossy, I have a question
yes?
oh yummy that sounds so good! Copied and will make that soon.
good morning all
yes sprite - i'm a full paid up member of every addiction going (apart from gambling)
when you make the meatloaf with the stove top.
yes?
Do you put it from the box or cook it first?
hi sixty7
no,just from the box,do not cook first
Oh, easy, ty.
its is used as a cracker or bread crumb replacement and a yummy one
Do you add any liquid?
*PinnyP* It is tough to have a personality that is easily addicted, isn't it. And tough to learn to live with the things we try to compensate.
do not forget the 1 egg per pound of ground
whole box?
blend eggs with a dash of milk then add
I am convinced that the only reason I have food is so I have something to eat.
Hi br
that was supposed to read (PinnyP), btw
whole box per 2 punds of ground
that is a very good reason, BabbleRabble. Happy to see you.
ty Crossy.
2 pounds just works nice in bread pan
it's a lifelong journey on the path to normality!
Some eat to live, others live to eat.
or banality...
and brush fav bbq sauce on top and slide in oven
isn't that the truth!
What is normal?
Most people don't eat livers, though.
normal is just a state of mind
ty Crossy
normality is not being so full of self loathing that you try to destroy yourself on a daily basis
i dont adhere to it myself
Good Morning Everyone. How are you all today?
LOL Judi. I don't.
howdy nef
Hi Neff
brb last load to come out of dryer
pity the poor babblers just signing on and reading all this :)
They get it Pinny.
that is pretty much it, PinnyP. Self loathing is devastating and hard to conquer, or so I feel. But we learn. Tiny step by tiny step.
LOL! I am trying to figure it out, Pinny! :-)
hi nef!
as usual, we talk about lots of things at the sa4 time, lol. Laundry. Eating disorders. Normality. Bacon. Food in general. And life.
hi sprite, crossy, hego, and PinnyP
hi nef
And BR. BR, are you stocked up on sandbags yet? How is the river?
Why is crossy cooking a box on the stove?
we do sprite - i've literally just rejected a job offer that i've been waiting for desperately for nine months, because ultimately it wasn't right for me, but my instinct tells me to accept anything - even when it's not good enough - because they want me
and why isn't 'meatless' in the grid!?
box of stovetop stuffing
Flooding is anticipated. Sandbagging has begun
you will love it hego;) its so easy and there is never any leftover;0
Oh! And good Morning to Judi! I thought your response about the livers was BR! Sorry!
wow PinnyP, but that is a really good thing you did. Must have been a struggle. To decide for what is good for you I me4, and not what you hunger for.
*sends BabbleRabble a floating hammock*
crossy, can I find that recipe somewhere too!
was a terribly hard decision that has taken me 24 hours (and consulting with friends and family) to come to
S'okay, Nef. Glad I'm not BR, today. Sandbagging would definitely not be good for my back.
and now i remain jobless :(
For the self-loathers: http://tinyurl.com/yglkhtr
here ill put it in my profile.give me a sec sprite
anyway, where's the flooding? are you sandbagging with stovetop stuffing, or am i getting the conversations mixed up??
for now, PinnyP, and for the right reasons. It should open some space for a better job for you.
sprite he just told us how to do it. the meatloaf.
is true. and in the meantime, i don't have a pesky job to impact on my babble time :)
Used 6 million last year
oh that is a good summary, thanks BabbleRabble.
I love your icon today, BR
ain't it great?
anyway, time to go have some soup and watch some tv... catch you all later. thanks for the chats
hego, sorry I missed part of it then, I thought it was about the topping. Will scan the log.
bye Pinny.
Well, I'm all confused about the meatloaf: where did that come in?
bye PinnyP, thanks for telling about yourself. be well.
bye, PinnyP
Keep up Nef.
Meatloaf is a naturally occuring substance in the univers, Nef. Geesh!
how ignorant I was, Judi, lollllll
Judi is very wise
LOL! It's my day off and morning! Give e a break! :-)
and very cool icon for the antique cars theme too.
It has many uses - including a sandbag substitute, adobe bricks, etc. etc.
.
the was: Give ME a break
doorstops
crossy makes his point
Football, doorstop, pillow.
ok sprite crossy,s famouse meatloaf recipie is in my profile
meatloaf is a great example of inertia
thank you crossy, copied it and will make that soon as well. Lovely recipes!
crossy, how many servings is that?
Hello, hello, what's going on 'ere then?
too funny!
crossy, what exactly is stovetop stuffing?
no one knows yet, mm
you can do 4 people, they always want seconds so keep it at 4 people
hiya movie my man, just the usual chaos!
Heya, Movieman!
it is a premade stuffing mix that you buy at stores
uh oh cultural difference
Oh great, I like chaos!!!!!
hi mm
yeah there often are some of those in recipes, that is why I ask. When I know exactly what it is, I can try and find it here.
when we have our prenatal clinic days, we're working with a low income population so we serve a lunch each clinic day. I usually make soup, but some times I look for something different.
wikipedia knows!
this is fast and easy nef..you can do it it large batches and is cost effective
Hello. Crossy - is that like the dry stuffing mix we have here in UK, i.e. Paxo sage & onion stuffing?
yes,paxo will work fine also
hi jac
Thanks.
paxo is just a tad stronger is all
hey, sprite, if you want something that's really a cultural difference, I live in Minnesota and we have something that no other part of the country has I guess. It's called "hot dish!"
sounds exiting, Nef, what is it?
hi Jac *hugsss*
I use my meatloaf for tire blocks when parked ... have to keep it our in the open too or I get charged with having a concealed weapon
that's the name of what the rest of the country calls "casseroles". A one dish meal
Lol, nef! Does "hot dish" work at the local strip club?
hm Kraft only has chocolate, biscuit and soft cheese products in the netherlands.
lol br,try my meatloaf,it can actually be eaten
I love that na4, nef :)
brb
BabbleRabble, or with waging chemical war?
What is vegetable cream cheese?
BR, you just described my coffee cake. A friend once broke a fork on mine
hi all! and when you carry it to the table nef, do you say "hot dish coming through! and she's carrying a casserole!"
karaft makes several varieties of cream cheese here dalmation, garlic and chive, herb and garli and vegetable
kraft
lolll pk, and hi
sprite (hugs) - My son's g/f often complains about the amount of stuff you can't get in the Netherlands. She went home after this last visit with lots of Cheddar cheese, salt & vinegar crisps and Galaxy choc bars.
crossy, what does it contain? Bread crumbs and herbs and spices, or something more?
Does it come in a block like cream cheese?
the premade stuffings (sovetop and paxo) generallly contain bread crumbs, sage, onions and various herbs and spices
comes in blocks or tubs
oh my, good cheddar cheese, almost impossible to come by here. We are lucky to have a great cheese shop close by. I think we must come and visit you as well, Jac ;)
which one, sprite? the hot dish or the casserole? They both describe a meal that is made all at once and contains a starch (usually pasta) a sauce (often creamy, but also can be a tomato sauce), a meat (usually ground beef) and some veggies.
ok it might be called paneermeel here, will check.
I am certainly going to try the pasta recipe. I absolutely love pasta dishes!
my meatloaf likely would be tastier if I used less fast drying concrete.
26 words to find, but I've got stuff to do. BBL. Happy Babbling all. x
try durabond 90 br,it hardens to a smooth workable finish
does it look anything like this, crossy: http://tinyurl.com/ygmu5k5
bye Jac, have a grand day
hi pk; I don't think you'd ever catch a Minnesotan saying the word casserole! (we might write it, but not say it!)
hi dalmation
kind of like a southerner saying pop instead of coke, nef
mm sprite,i cannot read that but it looks almost like peameal or cornmeal to me
Nef, the stovetop stuffing. Trying to find a substitute or the actual thing here in holland.
Don't they have something called Kefir in the Netherlands? I know it's not like creme cheese, but something in between sour creme and soft cheese.
is paxo available for you sprite?
hi dalmatian
that would work jidi
they do, judi, it is Turkish.
Ah. Ty, Sprite. Shows you how much I know.
am afraid not, crossy
I'm sure sprite would taste fine without Paxo, cross (LOL)
isn't kefir a sort of liquid yogurt?
hehehe no additions necessary for making me tasting great, thanks
I thought the Turkish version was Labni (althought I know that's made with yogurt).
lol the stuffing is the base of the entire meatloaf, otherwise you would just used crushed corn flakes or craker crumbs hydra
it is between yoghurt and soft cheese
Hiya sprite. Long time no see
hi hydra
Hi everyone - I love to just sneak in and listen to all the good ideas everyone shares.
Isn't it made out of mare's milk - or am I thinking of something else?
it is fun indeed dalmation
I don't know what kefir is, but I can get it at the health food stores here and I drnk it (it's flavored)
Does it taste good Nef?
it shows that north america takes for granted all the things on our store shelves
Psst, hydra: Kefir is hideous.
I think it is made from a little plant or seed, kefir. It is milklike.
it's like a liquid yogurt. It tastes like that too
my brother sould sell his soul for some peanut butter in costa rica lol
crossy, I am still not clear on the stuffing. Can I make it myself?
and peameal bacon
I'd be willing to send him some, crossy...
link to kefir: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ke fir
kefir is a fermented milk drink. if you like yogurt you would like it. raspberry flavor is good
you can sprite, just crunble up some day old brad, add sage and some of those dried onion flakes you get in the spice asile, add pepper, basil, dash of oregeno, dash of garli
Costa Rica? Don't they grow a lot of nuts down there? He could make his own nut butter.
not the same judi
good idea, Judi. Best there is, home made peanut butter.
but he has a good trade off, thier coffe is amazing
means
sorry
i make my own stuffing sprite. I cube a loaf of white/italian/french bread and spread it out on a baking sheet then heat it in the oven til it's dry and a bit crunchy
then add whatever spices you like
what i said;))
crossy: garlic powder, you mean?
thanks pk and crossy
indeed sprite
hi vlcl
here's the kefir I get: http://www.lifeway.net/
my love wil like the new recipes!
it mdid not occur to me that prepared stuffing mix would not be redily available elsewhere..crossy bad
crossy not bad at all. It is amazing which things make it across the oceans and which don't. No logic there at all.
hi sprite
No prepared stuffing??? Just crush up some cat food.
lollll Judi
lol judi
sprite it is also very good if you crush up some corn flakes and spice the same way
Beef flavoured cat food, of course.
i use crushed spiced corn flakes for a coating for my chicken cordon bleau;)
am copying it all into a word document, this is going to be great. I might even try and cook this myself and surprise my love. It doesn't look like I have to be on my legs for very long for this recipe.
better than cat flavoured beef
nope,its fast to make
all this talk of yumminess (1) is making me hungry and (2) is making my plans of sloppy joes for dinner seem SO low-class...
hiya EvaN, and still you will make it taste great
serve with steamed veggies with cheese sauce
i AM gonna make them from scratch, at least...
EvaN, what are sloppy joes?
here's a quick MN hot dish: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mnwa bash/hotdish.htm
Eva ..for high class Sloppy Joes, call them Untidy Josephs!
Eva ..for high class Sloppy Joes, call them Untidy Josephs!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sloppy_jo e
GASP! Admit it, Sprite. You really aren't from this planet.
hah, nice aeb!
hi EvaN
Judi, resistance is futile
ty
ty
lol aeb
LOL! *prepares for assimilation*
lol, poor sprite, bring here here to a standard grocery store and she would spend 2 hours just looking at all the stuff
thanks EvaN, looks good! I think we have something like that here as well.
oh yes, crossy! And I would want to send heaps and heaps home, i am sure.
we have a local(quebec) smoked 5 year old cheddar i would love to send to you
ohhh that sounds soo lovely
it is amazing, you take it and some wine and crackers and grapes and lock your self away for the day
Sprite, darling... we have this thing called mail order now. You can buy anything from anywhere.
cheese? send some here too!
true, only it becomes crazily expensive that way
Yes, I suppose so. Customs, duty. Well, if you want something bad enough, you'll just have to smuggle it or buy it on the black market.
i think they would frown on me sending cheese bulk parcle through the mail overseas;(
hints for the 8s?
True confessions: I sent beer to MonkeyGames in Amsterdam (from Delaware, US). The trick is to pack so nothing gurgles.
EvaN, female giant
EvaN, are you implying that we should be doing something besides the chog?
never, nef!
oh! didnt see the grid over there! lol
im gonna guess "female giant" isnt giantess, seeing as how "giant" isnt in the grid...heh
Pu8 is one.
cool, Judi!
Ti8 'tis the other.
the female giant starts ti
TY sprite. :)
now smuggling sounds so good to me. That implies both travelling and getting good stuff here cheaply.
hey, Es6dJean is in the grid today
Now, if you could just avoid the dogs at the airports, Sprite, you'd be home free.
darn dogs.
aren't they trained for drugs and such? Wouldn't the cheddar or the beer be outside their interest?
nope,they have food dogs
dogs with phd noses
Terrorists can waltz right through, but god help you if you're a sausage.
I repeat, darn darn dogs. Another good plan ruined.
*checks mirror and must admit some semblance to a sausage*
they key is just to stick a sausage in the pocket of the person in front of you. dogs go nutso on them, and youre home free!
lol eva
EvaN, you smart you! Thanks, that will work.
Diversion sausages! Brilliant!
sounds like a plan, EvaN
not that, yknow, ive ever done such a thing...
hmmmmm we know that EvaN, we know that. *almost looks convincing*
I don't think there's any restrictions about transporting cheese. Just meat, fruit, vegetables & plants. And explosives, weapons, blah blah blah.
cheese is the food of gods
that would make sense, Judi. I don't think that cheese would be an illegal substance as it can't be planted, contagious, addicting or destructive
fireflies. Will keep them away from all the good food. Thanks all, for the fun, company and recipes!
Clue for Aq7, please?
a blue-green pest...Judi
a blue-green pest...Judi
nervous water habit
clue for the pu7...please
sorry, I don't have it, ae
ty anyway, Nef
pu 4/6 with an adjective ending...being the most like that
anyway
* take out "the most" from my clue...not accurate enough...sorry
I don't get the blue green pest. Does it start with the aq4 water?
it does, Judi, and then add a nervous habit
yes, Judi...then add a twitch or a small blood sucking pest to the end of it.
yes
Ty for the aq. Fish me.
AE. did you get the PU 7?
sprit
*poof*
OOOPS! Sorry!
TY nef!
not yet
do you have the PU 6/30?
can there be a pu 4/7? would have to have the c in it, wouldn't it?
i have no Pu,s.....i smell gooooood(lol)
puci
oops

Good afternoon Babblers
Are you off today Scrabs?
anyone have a clue for the wa 8 pls
Yep. I spend Tuesday afternoons + evening with my late friend's 3 little kids. It is the highlight of my week.
I'm here in the Bay Area with my two little grandkids and I love it so much. They are so cute. 3 and 7 months
These kids are 2, 5 and 9--hilarious.
How long is your visit, Bichon?
good age difference. the 7 month old is starting to crawl and goes directly for his sister's toys
I always come for 2 weeks, about 4 times a year.
Very nice.
I stay with the 2 year old when the nanny goes to get the older 2 at school.
I think grandparents can make a great difference. Mine did for me
cu 6/27, please?

It's a wa 7, sandra, and it's a situation in which there is no way from here to there.

hello everybody
Have you got the is7/32 canan?
I don't have any of the long p's, any clues?
and the thigh word is a riot!!!
*pi even
hello fm
Good evening ruby
not yet, mitch
pi 7/32 add picnic pest to pi 4/5
lol lol, luv!!
great clue from josh earlier today then: if you wanted to insult someone and call them nothing, you would relate urine to an insect and call them a pi7
too funny!
and to get the pu8 just add the u in the 2nd place
so tonight they are allowing French words?
with enable who knows roby!
Gah I can't type this evening :(
have the pi 7, but that doesn't convert to a pu 7 or an 8
what is funny is their selection of which foods to allow (not tonight)
ah -- add an extra vowel
pu 6/24 or 6/30?
I should learn to read!
pu6/24 = If it were a french word meaning cooking it would start with a c
hard word to clue tonight
puisine isn't there!
sounds like my cooking....
Afternoon. Anyone have a clue for up6 and up7?

Hi ruby
Hello mongie
Hi FMItch

Got it ... thanks!
yw
hellooooo
hello ata
Hey Ata how was the KWT?
Still stuck on the second up6,24 ... can anyone clue?
fun fun!
much discussion of chinese mitten crabs invading the UK
oh goodie for you!
up + what you did with that email
thinking ... starbuck, thx
2nd up6/24 = Up + I have posted you a letter. think of an alternative word for posted.
ty, FM
Got it! Thanks! I didn't not see that one in any of the word lists!
starbuck, good clue, mine was clumsy.
hi mongie!
lol thanks
They both would have worked for me. But, I got it with starbuck's clue first. Thanks, both of you!
Hi, vlcl! Have you finished the grid?
bsg fan, starbuck?
'just got here
I have 9 left ...
Just starting?
yup
this has been kind of a fun one for me ... but, a few tough ones left
So what is the latest news on the Chinese mitten crabs then Ata?
they are invading! and they are big and me4 and outdo our own little crabs
are they edible?
Can we stop their invasion?
if yes, just put them on the menu
lol ruby
nope, not really. we can try and curtail it, thats about all
do they go through a soft-shell stage?
can't get decent fresh crab here
and how many cups of tea did you manage to quaff?
they do taste good! people are seeing whether we could get a good fishery going for them
4 I think
ruby you are going to have to take a detour when you come to the UK in May
I think that's the best solution!
I think so, too!
me too. I love crab
when I lived in NJ, neighbors would bring sacks full of little blue claw crabs and we'd put newspaper on the table, open a bottle of white wine and pig out
(opens nice Chardonnay / slices lemons)
mmmmmm! we do the same in Oregon with king crabs when the fishing boats come in
mmmmm!
Ah fresh crab brings back childhood memories. Going to the seaside and picking a crab from the trawler and cooking it as soon as we got home.
when you come down, if it's a nice day, we can go to Whitstable and eat freshly-caught stuff outside at the harbour
*grin* I see we all share similar memories.
we used to get soft-shell crabs in NY, but just in restaurants
Oh Ata that would be brill!!!!
the one time I tried to cook them, they kept trying to climb out of the frying pan -- bad experience! :((
if it's raining, we can go *inside* and eat it ;)
oh no ruby!!
Mm, freshly caught fish. I want some shark, swordfish, halibut cheeks and haddock please!
I can't cook live things any more
Although I drove for 20 mins today and the leg was not happy so we will have to see.
UNI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is the local hangout, FM: http://www.crabandwinklerestaurant.co. uk/
UNIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!
(((Hugs Uni))))
we'll be here whenever your leg is better enough!
forgive us ruby - Uni is a very dear friend.
Whoa, my internet is lagging and that all came at once!! **happy onslaught of love**
through the list and 6 left -- back after a break
LMAO my CHRISTMAS CARD got to Lori YESTERDAY!!
So glad to see you hun :) sorry for the love overload.
well if you only poated it last week ;)
what happened to your leg, mitch?
I posted it before Christmas!!!
Mum said she got it yesterday! I asked when it was mailed ;) I can't wait to see it.
that's just so funny!
did you ever get yours, Tiffy? It'll probably arrive in June
Fell down stiars cnan and it has been a real pain in all senses of the word!
ouch -- a fracture?
Hm, I can't recall. I was with Mum when all my cards showed up so the bea was in charge of them. I don't recall one from you, but my memory is busy with school and sun :) Fm, don't break yourself!!
oh well, one may turn up at some point! :P
I posted my cards to Uni and Lori 1st week of December
off for a cuppa before I tackle the last 6
I didn't post cards this year. I'm a rebel!
cnan - thankfully no - but I am beginning to realise how close I came to breaking something.
yay rebelliousness!
Hubby is off to the gymn -- he makes me feel like such a slouch, but I really do hate exercising!
how's Emma?
that's good -- hope the bruises heal soon
Anyway it is great to see you Uni ((()))

Hi FM ans Science,Ata
Hi Boo

Shall kick Lori next time I see her!

Emma is fantastic. And awful. She just swiped at me for daring to peek into her window.
how dare you!!!
I know, it was outrageous of me. And Hobbit and Sily
?
hobbit is licking my foot for some unknown reason!
silverclaw is gorgeous. and purry. and she's very cuddly at the moment for some reason
*tiptoes into chog, taps Ata on left shoulder, and hides behind right shoulder*
sorry, so used to not calling you Uni *ooops* :D
Uni did you see the pic from our UK get together?
That's always nice. In general, Emma had been being cuddly all week, sleeping all over me. No licking my feet though!
Eva!!!!!
*spins round madly*
Hey EvaN
I did see your picture! I started a response, but then got distracted. might have some good stories to share soon!
Eva!!
OK am going to have to go and am getting dizzy with all this spinning. :)

100 more words to go!
Wow, vlcl ... you are pretty fast, having just begun!
I have 1 left, but have no idea how to find it. There is a word on the lists that works, but it is not found in this dictionary for some reason. :(

hi all...clue for ti7/32 please?
hi Flsk. Compound, no point to it
thanx lynxxx
ti8/40 please?
a female 5/10
not literally, but it clues best that way ;)
but it is literally isn't it?
Fask - ends in our fav Loch monster
hmmm...lots of definitions on dictionary.com...looks like one of them is actually female 5/10
I continue to learn every day!
not doing so well on the grid today
well pinny - you are NOT alone! :)
Man are there ever grids under 100 words?
hi tfgrrl
the grid yesterday was only 55 words
I'm with you too Pinny
I guess you get faster with time, or is most everyone retired?
me neither pinny - got 89 left and getting very frustrated. Dont want to work the list. Yesterdays grid was small and quick.
can I please ask for ti6/21 as well??
I like the longer grids when I have the time, and today I do
89 left - i've only clocked up 99 so far!
what you use when you sneeze
OH LOL that figures, I miss one day. Well, that's what I get, Hi BO!
ti6.21 paper square
i started at 8 this morning and periodically check in looking for another word
thankyou!
I've gotten really good at 4 letter words.
thanks for that ti clue - i needed that - considering my cold, I should have gotten that one myself - 88 to go
I was looking at the rankings just now, and it's interesting that the top 10 or so are almost never in the chog?? I'm trying to decide if there's a lesson to be learned from that.
maybe tfgrrlv - but hink how dull & boring their lives probably are lol
are you sure they're not just on a different timezone?
i enjoy the chog as much as the wordbattle
i like to chat but depends on how my day is going - sometimes dont have time to chat but can check out a word - pure addiction
IDK pinny I've been on at all different times, but not too many names I recognize. Maybe they're ... Da duh da... lurkers!
broll is british, aloy is in NY, sprite is in Netherlands, and they all chat sometimes
sucking up
Missed you Bo, *gives big hug*
infor from us sturgglers!!
thx ((tfgrrl))
sprite was here today
have you all been playing long? been a week for me and love it
almost six months for me now (i think)
Chog folks' humor and interesting comments made me go pro.
I recognise half of them. They are just so fast they are only here for a half hour each dy!
finished yesterday's grid at lunch - bored silly last night
4 years for me, 2ish of which i've been chatting
started Dec 09
dc what did you do for the first 2 years? Just grid? Grid and look at chog clues? Ignore the chog completely?
wow bo you remember the exact day - impressive. i finished too early yesterday too. but went onto play my other favorite word game on wordsplay
grid and search chog archive for clues
i wanted to grok the chat culture before participating, so i read it, too
te6/24 please??
Mom - our start dates are on Profiles
I will day that this has practically cure me of my FB addiction which I would've thought was impossible. I don't think I've been on it in 2 weeks at least.
te6.24 really small
itsy-bitsy, flask
glad you approve. I like chatting on wordsplay but can only do so in between the 3 minute games
I wonder what Kaplan would have to say about trading one addiction for another?? he he he
I consider these educational addictions so they are OK
it won't take pi4.5y - enable can be prudish at times
sorry it is the other te6/24 am looking for!
Right Mom, at least I can say I'm learning new words, or in some cases unwords.
.... Most of which I will never be able to work into a conversation, but still. :-D
te6 te & Bo**** is the study of plants
te6 - a state marked by severe, intermittent tonic contractions and muscular pain, due to abnormal calcium metabolism.
thanx both of you!
Oh thats helpful.....
Ouch!

Yes, Inge, I know. It's nice that they're close to U of M
it is funny how you can feel soooo stuck and then go away and come back and find things
I think I'm listing a bit to the side actually from trying to see backwards words.
hasta, momneeds
The American couple actualy grew up in this area
shall i fry some ravioli in a bit?
BFN Mom nice to m** you.
Fry? I don't think I've ever tried that.
like with pierogi - boil then fry :)
america. we take other people's foods and fry them.
fried pierogi are great - I make them - OK bye
very yummy. i had pan-fried ravioli in Palma de Mallorca when i was there.
clue please for the FIRST sp5/12 please??
you can turn the cat into an adverb!
ball sp5 hammer
ty hurshy, that's a wierd one
(that clue's a malapropism, as usual)
dc - You are the first person to my knowledge I've ever met who uses a Dvorak keyboard, and I love the Nicoll quote!
what is a dvorak keyboard?
Oh no!!!...am so sorry its the SECOND one I want!!!
:)
i sp5 too much, or is there one in between?
Look at dcseain's profile
i think i've just tried anything that could come in between so i'm going to say you're right dc
thanx DC
i think a dvorak should have the letters in that order, since qwerty does
i switched to Dvorak in 1996 - much happier with it, and i have better accuracy with it. I also realized that with QWERTY, the right hand does nothing at all.
and dc you've gotta stop using polysyllabic words, cuz it gets me all excited and I can't concentrate on the grid.
but also, did you guys know that they originally were going to make keyboards alphabetical, but the early typewriters couldn't handle how fast secretaries were typing, and so qwerty was invented to slow them down, which it did, but only temporarily, but then they improved keyboards so it didn't matter, but by then everyone was used to qwerty and we are stuck with it to this day!
LOL
At first I thought it was a composer
yes, the evolution of keyboards is fascinating.
I didn't know that, that's typical.
I've got 3 cat adverbs - but they are actually related to a plant
Dvorak is also the name of a composer, yes.
cat?
pu words
how can there be 3 adverbs??????
I hate hate hate the screen keyboard on my phone, but my new Droid has both. I don't see how people can type on the little tiny keys.
there's a pu cat other than puma? hm....
pu6.30 *2 & pu7.44
maybe I just have abnormally big fingers
2 end like Elvis
cat in boots
ah, the pu4 that is a bodily fluid?
thanks lynxxx, that brings me up to 90%!
depends how you say it I guess
the bodily fluid when unmodified by any endings is only a pu3
Bodily fluid is a 3 letter word.
Hello, all.
i don't think i've seen that word used for cat except in that one book.
hi Vi
snap vi
Pu** -in-Boots
so, the cat word is unknown in the dialect here, apparenty
well... it has fallen out of favor due to other associations :(
ty for the clarificatin, vi
really? we say "here pu**" when calling cats here
Well, I think it's taken on taboo connotations because ...
Hursh beat me to it again, lol!
we think far too much alike!
alaways with a y on the end here, and still not very common.
That's cuz you say fanny
and rarely used for cats anymore, come to think of it, though it still carries that meaning.
But we have pu5 willows blooming here right now! =)
I/we don't use fanny all that much actully tfg
pu5 willow is exceedingly rare here - it's mostly not cold enough for it.
Really? What about u hurshy? Maybe I've been misinformed.
fanny is known here, but slightly antiquated.
Ya, but in the US fanny is your bum, not so elsewhere is what I was told.
i'm officially american. i'm only british in spirit.
That is right tfg, but we still don't use the word very much
Oh fanny means a neighboring district in some dialects? Intriguing. Must research!
Wait, we don't use fanny or bum, but heinie or butt
Well, I guess it used to, thanks for the update lynx, like to um, stay on top of things.
You don't say bum bichon?
few in NA do for that usage
Not in the northeast. We use heinie cause hubby is German or tushie cause I'm Jewish or butt
But I do have "CA grandkids and I suppose I'll have to use other words around them
Hmm, well I wonder were I picked that up, tushie is Jewish?? What about tuckus?
derriere is used here sometimes, too.
both are Yiddish forms of the Hebrew word for bottom
too fancy dc
US English has absorbed a lot of Yiddish
In polite company, I'd use bottom
Wow, derriere must be French.
much to ruru's dismay :)
My favorite euphemism was used in a yoga class I took once. They insisted on referring to our "sitbones."
i've heard that term - i always want to giggle at it
*giggling* I think I had an elementary teacher who said that
Yeah, I thought it was funny.
yes, but you exercise your "glutes"
the cows at the farm were glad to see a group of children who came to visit and seemed awfully excited. but the pigs were dismayed. "don't you know?" they said to the cows, "they're here to me6!"
They were always telling us to sit "Indian style" on the floor too, which I never understood.
yes, the muscles over the bones
Or "tailor style". Who knew any tailors
Never heard tailor style, but that makes sense. If you see old engraving that's how tailors sat!
I always like the "r" inserted into a**.
Now they say "criss-cross applesauce." Cute, but I never saw applesauce sitting that way, either! lol
tassle isn't in the dictionary
Whew! done!
my mothers parents used ares only combined with 'horse's'
Anyone need a clue?
congrats, hego
Congrats Hego!
swich last letters, bichon
you've spelt it wrong, bichon
Bichon, that's cause it's spelled with the last two letters reversed.
Good work Hego
Yay for Hego!
WTG Heo
oh doh! excuse me
lol Bichon

Hello, Nancy Boy.
hi, NB :)
clue please for the last 6/24
starting with what, sammys?
y, I guess! lol
te 6/24
very, very small, sammys
I have only one, and it's very small.
oh, sorry, add the ending of the study f plants
a state marked by severe, intermittent tonic contractions and muscular pain, due to abnormal calcium metabolism. is the definition
Oh, thanks, dc.
i need one more word to be over halfway done. does anyone have a clue for the bottom left t (any at all) so i can stop BABBLING?
They're all ty words, jmd.
the ty5 of a fork
I'm done, anyone need clue[s]
sorry- i am so befuddled that i dont get the clue
sammy, think of a Brittish river
hi all
ty dc i forgot the alternative spelling!
howdy, jmc
hi jmc
Hello, jmc.
jmb your car is not older than I am!
Mine is, jmc! lol
true vic!
If I were at home I could use a photo of my 1972 Mustang convertible -- cars over 25 are legally antiques
if your profile is accurate, you only have me beat by 3 years
a 72 stang??? way cool!
I was born the year of your car jmb
it needs work -- alas
Jmc! Your icon just made me laugh all over again
This car is in a museum in ypsilanti - i love looking at all the goodies there. *you don't need work jmc?*
i need lots of work jmb
Well, your '72 car is only older than Nancy Boy. It's a young 'un. =)
but I'm growing up as fast as I can¬
i need some help with the i words for nbt
anyway dc helped me get over halfway & i added a few more... so time to go for now. I will bbl.
don't rush NB
There's a water-locked bit of land, a Japanese immigrant,
and the end of a famous poem (and now a movie?) Inv----
Bye, jmdobie.
bye jmb
ty ty vic i am now at nbt
Yay!
i never remember the japanese immigrant -- i am going to have to put that on my memorization list
Yeah, I tend to miss it, too. Maybe because it isn't English!
Hi, everyone
hi guernsey
Hello, guernseygirl.
i hope you're all well.
Blooming, thanks. And you?
Great, too, thanks. planning a trip to London for the weekend.
Sounds like fun.
Should be. Going to see the Van Gogh exhibiton and catch up with old friends.
Oh wonderful.
meanwhile, i'm totally stuck on an6/18. A clue would be great.
an6/18 - an + fill your hunger
aneats
Sorry, sorry, wrong box!
well, it's actually an anagram of that...
not that one anyway
and the last 3 letters would be the past tense of the word you added there...
And speaking of which, time to go make dinner. It'll be a big production today because the kids are "helping!"
Bye, all!
Got it. TY. have a good meal and a good time with the kids.
bye vic
clue for pu6/30 please.....the FIRST one please?
Sorry, I haven't got it either
Hi Everybody. Flask, I haven't gone to the list yet; I have a pu6/30 after the pu7/44. Is that the right one?
Sorry Nef...its the one after pu8
I'd love clues for either of those two.
then I don't have it. Sorry.
do any lurkers have it for me please??
Its my last word!
i have not the 8 nor that 6.30
help please... the are 2 te 6/24 words- i have the forst meaning very small.. i need a clue for the last one on the list following what you sleep in on a camping trip
more kitty with sometimes vowel ending??
guernsey, pu** 4/6 is fluid from an infected wound. There is a pu7/44 which could be a cat + and archaic song; then pu 6/30 is a cat + adverb ending
Thanks Nef. i'll work on those.
Sorry, sammy. I don't have the other one
never mind- i finally monkeyed it
bbl to fisish
Got them both. Thanks
so does anyone have the first pu6/30 now?
i don't yet
not me
lol....DC, you and I both!
is that the one that drops one of the double letters?
NOW I have the pu6/30 after the 8! Take a cons out of the middle of the pu7/44!
what do you mean??
If it's the pu 6/30 after the pu8/50, take a consonent out of the middle of the pu 7/44 a few words farther down
It's the one like a cat +an old fashioned song, but you take out a doubled letter in the middle.
hey everyone! Diving right into the grid today. I have a new video game that I can't wait to get to... but the OCD part of me won't let me start it till I work on this puzzle ;)
lol smooth, welcome
OMG!!....Thanks Nef....and DC.....Fireworks for me at last....Goodnight all....
ah, the pu8 is from French
congrats and good night, flask
Hi smooth pappa. i have to go to bed now ready for an early start tomorrow.
hi smooth! Sounds like you have your priorities straight! ;-)
goodnight all.
YAY, Flask!!! WTG!!
good night, gurnsey
bye guernsey
you know, I really do like the fact that even as a 30 year old man, with a decent job, I can still appreciate a good video game ;)
I didn't know men outgrew video games, smooth. You wouldn't know it by my DH or son
(of course my son works as a QA supervisor for a video gaming company now; so he plays games at work too!)
HA!
now, he's got his priorities straight ;)
maybe, maybe not. His wife doesn't agree with that I think
So what game did you get?
The new Final Fantasy
I don't actually play that many video games, but I'm a sucker for that series
I don't know that one.
it amazes me that they keep comung out with more Final Fantasy games
this is number 13
pu 6/24 pls
pu 6/24 = pu + ** this a **w toy?
oy. ty, nef
ty nef
yw
does the PU 8 work off the PU 6/24?
up for air! Man! I love lickety! that is such a great tool!!
yes, sixty
add a small picnic pest to the beginning of the word
tyvm Nef
that picnic pest clue makes no sense to me... i tried adding it to the beginning of the word and it's not a word, nor is it even in the puzzle :/
i know i'm not the one who asked for the clue, but i was using it :)
end, not beginning
the picnic pest surrounds the high point 2 letter box on the grid
pu8/50 ends with that
which pu6/24 are you using? is there more than 1?
there is only 1 pu 6/24, bo. Pu + ** that a ** toy you have?
sorry I'll try again : Pu+ ** that a **w toy?
got that, don't understand the pu8 clue, though
yo
pu+ ** that ****a Claus?
hi kje

thax - got that. sorry for being like molasses
clue for as 5/12
even sounds french :)
sorry Boo, I don't have it
bo, I don't know or speak French.
I'm language-impaired. :-)
us?
us5= nauseated?
i don't either, nef - it sure looks french to me
def does not mean nauseated, but got it
it is french in origin - i looked it up in my Funk & Wagnalls :)
And "tieups" is not a word because...?
Bojazz is remembering catchphrases from "Laugh-In?" That dates us for sure.
for sure!
if profiles are correct, i'm not the oldest here - but damn close
NO ONE under 50 would know that reference.
lol
hello all - i am struggling with those u words - dont have any - and I loved "laugh in"
very true, bo
err Kaplan
Any more than they would remember poems by Henry Gibson.
up + ri4
up + ri5
not a poem fan'
up + se4
up5 = angry
us5 = us + a ompass direction + vowel
sorry, hard to clue that
Oh, but Henry Gibson's poetry you would like.

clue for cu 6/24 pls
really wishing i hadn't started this grid - mind is not in it today
little adorable ones, boo
hello all
cu- pretty little children? or the new name for a box of clementines
hi
hi, je and jilli
I just want you all to know that the ? says the sn4/6 word and its pl are Canadian (chiefly Ontario) and I've never heard of it.
hi jilli
that's cute about your car, DC :)
ty, jilli
my first car was a VW bug too, dc!
oh dear, PB for me -- it's cu4 about your car
actually, my first 2 cars were bugs
cool, kje. i hated the standard bugs, what with the windscreen in your face.
my dream car is a ghia
ghias are nice :)
my funnest car was a Sunbeam Alpine, red
baby blue ghia... that would be my car
those were pretty, and looks like they were fun to drive.
ghias weren't good in the winter though.
I loved it, but then hubby got me a yellow Camaro and I didn't like it at all -- it fishtailed.
he thought it was safer, hah!
tom loves camaros. he wants a t-top one.
i doubt he'll ever have one, but he can dream.
tell him about the fishtailing
My first car was a 1971 Pontiac Firebird, blue metalic paint with white leather interior. I paid cash for it; it was beautiful, but a lemon.
I was a County Health nurse and that thing knew the ditches better than the road: powerful engine, body was way too light
pretyy, though, eh nef?
*pretty
will do, jilli.
i hated the pontiac i had briefly in the early 90s.
my Sunbeam was secondhand and I had it in about 1964. I felt so cool driving around with the top down and a white chiffon scarf on my head
yep. I sold it at 44,000 miles and the trunk body floor was actually cracked in half from the spare tire vibrating in there
sonds lovely, jilli
that's horrible nef
I traded in my 12-year-old Pontiac in 2004 for my recall-free Toyota Corolla LE -- the Pontiac's floor was rusted almost through and the head gasket was shot. I got $500 for it in the trade-in.
my next car was a yellow Vega! I figured if it was a lemon, it would be the right color! :-D
hello all! back to try and get down under 75 before listing (120 left right now)
well done, dobie!
I have 26 left and have been listing for ages. Was quite blond last night.
I listed at 100
i'm down to 63, no list yet, but soon. right now, i think i'll go cook something. bbl
Oh. 79 left now
*blind (I've never been blonde except when I wore a wig as a joke)
LOL, jilli! Blind, blonde; does it matter on Babble some days?
although I guess I was being as dumb as the blond they make jokes about
any clues on the pu 8/50?
i have the pu 6/24 if that helps
first 4 letters are the same, then add a consonant and finish with a picnic pest
rows, remove the last 2 letters of the pu6, double the last cons of what remains, and add the picnic pest. It's French and powerful :)
nef beat me to it
argh, what a terrible word
thanks guys
I've seen a lot worse and at least this one has a meaning
does anyone need a clue for ti7/32?
Sure, what is the ti clue?
ti7/32 -- what a bad waitress becomes ;)
hi gmere
Oh, what a great joke! Got it immediately!!! We're going to be your way later this month. Looking forward to a good visit.
(or waiter)
looking forward to that, gmere :)
great clue jili
ty dobie
dobie -- nice car -- we had a Henry J back in the fifties
way ahead of its time -- all cars then were huge and it was about the size of my Toyota now

they can't. just like no one here knows the "real me" *cackle, chortle, plot*
hey seain
neeed final pe5 clue pls?
i think it's ridiculous to expect FB to keep track of such considering the number of users.
Stid - FB can't unless they make stringent checks, which will undermine the internet.
thanks for the giant strong woman.
if they are alerted of such, that's one thing, but to expect them to check is too much, IMO
I always tell my teenaged stepdaughter that the teenaged lad she 'thinks' she's talking to, 'cos she's seen his photo etc., may not be all he appears to be.
stid, y/w re ti8.
yes, important lesson that, jac
clue for the sa6 please?
that's right, Jac -- you know, I was REALLY nervous when I first met Jill and Hetty ... didn't know if they weren't perhaps like the witch from Hansel and Gretel (of course they weren't, more like Glinda the Good from Oz)
I try to chat with her about such things rather than lecture, so she wil keep on chatting to me about this and that and I'll know mostly what's going on.
sa6 is a type of woven cotton, often used for bedding
sa6 is a satiny material.
11 left and no energy
ah, thanks jacula
y/w Rows.
2nd sp5.12, pls?
hey Rows!
you can find'em, TO!
bummer. halfway. going to go read. (((TO))) YAY in advance, TO, and see you tomorrow. *poof*
final pe5 pls?
bye stid
Stid - LOL. I've done a few internet meets, after speaking to people for YEARS, and they've been fine so far. I often find talking to folks on the phone first helps.
hasta, stid
Oh Im getting all the clues and seeing so many words but just popped in to say HI every one
4!
TO - final pe5 is the French for small or tiny without the last vowel.
too tired to attempt a stab at the grid
Keep going Harry!
go Harry
MaMaWA - nice to see you.
any help on the en6?
me too , but yet I have 71 left....trying to decide if I want 12 hours OT this week...such a tough choice.
you too Jacula and just keep up the chat with the daughter
ty
go for the ot red
never know when it might not be an option
Harry - en6 is the adjectival form for relatives on your mother's side of the family. en + vowel + physical twitch.
well. Its always an option in my job. I must have the most recession proof career...barely noted a blip.
ty jac :)
2 left now
hint for 2nd se5.12, pls?
hey stid :) how are you?
indeed, red.
You are one of the lucky ones then!!! good for you
MaMaWA - she's my unofficial stepdaughter. My real daughter is almost 23.
dc - you sure?
se5/10 add *** kwon do
oops sp5.12 :">
dc - there is no se5/12.
I have a gaggle of unofficial childs but its good to give them a place to feel like chatting it could really make a difference to at least one of them and that counts
i had the se :)
sp5/12 second one is time well sp***
oh, 3 rd sp5.12 then :)
2nd sp5.12 = all your money has fone.
( i can count, really)
lymon drink minus last vowel
pu8 please?
Ok .. Im off just wanted to say hey to some familiar "faces" : ) Night all see you next time
huh. i thought that needed a vowel or a consonant on it. ty, harry
3rd sp5.12 = a water nymph, or a popular Babbler from the Netherlands without the last vowel.
'Bye MaMaWA.
http://tinyurl.com/yk8t26y a friend made a best of the 60's playlist on Lala.com
ti 7 pls?
be well, mamawa
*fone? Meant Gone.
ti7 without gratuity
TO - the waitress got no coins in her pocket and so went hone ti7.
*home
pu8 my last word...gotta grade papers
Keyboard's got all sticky again but I refuse to change to a new one until I've stopped smoking.
adj of the 6 - french
best with the quitting, jac
ty,
pu8 - potent or being powerful.
Harry what do you teach?
'evening, folks
math and science tfg
done! finally
have you seen the techtalk comercials seain?
for metro pcs
pu + verb, presen indicative + snake letter doubled + picnic pest.
no, TO, we've no TV
hi welki
Well done, HH.
hi, welki
I'm wading through a stack of English homework right now.
Hi Welki.
yay harry!
sorry i forget
ugh tfg...I'm a terrible procrastinator when it comes to grading.
leave it all to spring break I say
congrats, harry
ty ty
Harry - that might be good for you, but it's not good for your students.
bye all
back for my last 58... sigh... wish it was over
wtg harry
pu 7 pls?
Procrastination, hmm maybe that's why I have a foot & a half stack of papers.
too tired for this tonight
i'm at 23 kje, you can do it :)
hi, kje
hi kje
63 here and i'm just about done, too
kje I've got let's see only 154 :-)
Freddie Mercury (of Queen) once sang of himself as 'The Great Pretender'. I think we Babblers should retitle the song for ourselves, The Great Procrastinator. We all do it well, do we not?
ok, wills top whining then, tfgrrl
i don't know. let me think about it.
go dc!
go welki!
maui have a clue for pu 7 pls?
( i was answering jac .. heheh)
I was done with the grid hours ago, so can clue, if bribed subtly enough.
ok must regroup
Oook wuz I whining? Perhaps there's some cheese somewhere to go with.
extend the pu4 as an adv-like thing
g'night folks ... my decision's been made :)
g'night welki :)
gn welki... sweet dreams
ty dc
Goodnight to those leaving.
ty all i must go
'Night TO.
Would anyone else liek some of the Crianza - Montecillo 2006 from Rioja?
g'night TO
mmmmm - that is a nice friendly bottle, dc
i enjoy rioja
*pours some for kje*
Night all
g'night tfgrrl
Sounds expensive, I know nothing about wine
ty ty... i am sure just one glass won't adversely affect my grid work
it's nicely leggy, rich, lightly oaky, very complex and a bit smokey, very nice
but lots about whine :-P
this bottle was only $9 on sale at Wegmans, 15 usually.
not at all, tfgggrl - rioja is an inexpensive spanish red
yep - was gonna ges 12-13, so close
Is it even wine? I take that back I don't know anything about alcohol.
well, stuff costs more here.
yes, it is wine
Did you say leggy?
yep, wine from Spain
pi7?
nm
Is that a taste or smell?
yes, when you swirl it in the glass, it's slow to flow back down the sides, so it's viscous, and in this case, a tad on the sweet side
LOL
it's a visual texter
er, texture
er, wow, that's kinda hot.
Right up until you misspelled it. *giggle*
LOL
You can describe wine to me any time. :-) Excellent visual imagery.
ma7?
i used to sell wine, so that was a needed skill that developed in time.
with out a male, kje
i should have seen that
ty
me too! since I'm in that state
Some how I kinda figured you did, or you just had a really good collection. (I'm not going to try to spell the big word for wine-lover at this time of night.)
lol Shirlock
sigh, me too
ly6?
i have enough to make Tome complain, though i'm down to about 2 and a half cases now
actually i was supposed to go on 2nd date tomorrow and he cancelled on me
didn't think i was "opening" up fast enough
Better watch seain - lots of single women on the chog tonight.
ly6 ends w/a chemical suffix
ly + sa4
most of the women know i'm happily partnered, and happy to entertain females, but have no romantic interest :)
ty
Jeez, opening up one the first date?
25
kje and me and a bunch of other babblers shared much sangria the 1st time we met :)
a bunch of "bantering" emails, one meeting < 1 hour
and a week where i was not "answering" his emails -- i was just not bantering as previous
oh, bummer shirlock. dating is so hard.
indeed... white sangria, no?
so obviously, *I* was not opening up enough
yes indeedy, kje
dc, nrkii and I are going sailing this summer!
oh, fun! :D
I don't think I'd be too upset about not getting a second date with that one Shirl, sounds like kind of silly anyway.
Bacchus was the Roman God of Wine. Bacchanalian describes the lover of wine.
Sailing where?
i was thinking oenophile
i'm not upset but it's more of the "is it worth it" to even try?
my great-great-grandma's maiden name was Bacchus
maine coast
Maine is gorgeous!
on an old wind jammer... she has been before
kje that's sounds cold, but fun!
Shirlock - you have to kiss or avoid a lot of frogs before you finally find your prince.
and wading out into the Bay of Fundy is amazing. you can walk out to over your head. And the tides!
it is august, so hopefully has warmed a bit by then
Shirl, I'm right there with you, my last date was, let's see '08?
dc - you will not catch me wading in fundy - it is like an ice bath
the air yes, the water no. There's never warm water in ME
Something about dating in big cities maybe?
i tried to ski in the bay in my 20s, and was shaking so bad I couldn't get up
so i learned the one and only time i went in the water there, kje :)
dang.
What's up, feather?
Sailing would be a blast except I would probably fall in.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY WEED!!!!!!
i need to go to bed, and i discovered you're hiding out in here, kje! now i'm gonna be sucked into the chat. ;)
Hey feather!
i was doing personals and i don't understand these men who emailed me "hey beautiful", or who are NOT IN THE SAME CITY or even CONTINENT!!!
hi, feather
oh, happy b'day weed :D
hi everyone! ooo, lots of my favorite peeps in here
shirlock... it is insane out there... I did on online site - CRAZY
a dear friend of mine met her hubby through an ad in Washington City Paper.
weed turned 51 today!!!!
That kinda thing actually makes me laugh because there are obviously plenty of guys a lot more desperate than me.
another married a guy she met online back in 1990. they're still together.
feather, click on 'turn off computer', remember to also turn your monitor off and then walk away. See? It's ea4/6!
that there are, tfgrrl
tfgrrl, i keep thinking you're kje, because she had a coffee icon a while ago!
HEY!!!!
you make it seem so simple jac!
i keep thinking she is me too... gets screwing me up
i love the 59th st bridge song. it's always the last song we sing at the end of the church year. :D
It really is that simple, feather.
I think someone else had one too, I will get around to changing it.
36, i'm 36.
jac, wo want no logic.
it is laughable -- i'm amazed anyone ever meets and connects with anyone else
you're my little sister's age, feather
Pardon, dcs?
i was mentioning your house book to a few friends this morning jac, we were talking about interesting books we want to read
36 is a good age :-)
evening all...
Tom and i went to HS and part of uni together, then reconnected online after 14 years.
hi, pini
i like it. i'm happy!
just wanted to pop up and say NBT!!! :)
Hi Pink. Welcome to the madness that is Babble and dating hell.
yay pini!
es6?
won't finish tonight, but hit that goal ;)
great icon, pini, and go you!
Heyas kids ..
hi tor!
es6 de corps
yay pini!
hey tor
it's my new assistant monkey - one with a little more expression - no matter what the size of the grid! :)
giving myself 5 more minutes, then i'll try jac's nifty trick.
WTG pini, can I borrow your monkey?
kje - es + most of our former No. 1 Babbler's name (from Netherlands).
ty dc!
1st cu6 please
are you gridding weed?
cu6 like frunch turm for swiss
wild - it's a piece of knght's armour that protected the thigh. Sounds like a 'x'.
nah, not tonight
ty dc
if it's not a weekend, and it's over 125 or 150, there's little chance i'll do it
good idea, weed... no need to torture yourself on your bd
ty
what did you guys do? did the boys make you presents?
back to task for me...back soon...have a great evening (HBD Weed!)
hasta, pini
i had a meeting after school, so we did our celebrating this past weekend. doug had the boys get me a BEAUTIFUL gold heart necklace, says #1 mom on it. I love it.
aaawwww
how lovely, feather :)
daniel made me a sticker collage card
is that why nick called you old? your bd?
should i stop after 3 glasses of wine, or keep going?
no, it was daniel, and i think he was being serious! until he saw my reaction, then he had to keep it going of course, needling me!
keep going!
LOL
i think he was seriously telling nick to be careful with me
very sweet though
dcs - stop if you want to feel okay in the morning, or keep going if you are partying, or you don't care how you feel in the morning.
yeah, it was
poop. ok, witching hour for me. heading to bed!
10
dcs - you could have water or a soft drink between each glass of wine.
i usually drink half a bottle of wine a sitting, or 3 hard liquor drinks, so i think i'll go for full bottle tonight
gn weed... sweet dreams
so tasty, and just waht my tongue wanted
sweet dreams, feather
Where I'm from wine comes in jugs or boxes.
Night feather
there are decent ones in both forms
*toddles off to bed feeling all warm and fuzzy from the well wishes* POOF1
dcs - white wine will give you the squits in the morning and red wine will give you a headache, both will leave you not quite compos mentis and with heavy limbs.
I was going to say, that's one of the reasons I moved to CA
sigh. hearing Janis Joplin always leaves me feeling a bit sad.
darn, hate when i do that. let's try again: POOF!
aw6?
hasn't yet, but noted.
*Waiting for POOF2 ..
hi all. only have 52 words. would love clues ofr hte 8s.
without awe
squits?
Hi torg!
crap! keep missing that suffix! ty again dc (clearly the wine is not affecting your clueing)
I don't think I want to know.
tfg - 'squits' = diarrhoea or runny poo.
Or, like kje just said, crap. LOL
ti8 - female giant (Greek origin)
Actually, that would be without "aw" ..
builds on ti5 - moon of uranus
I have...*struggling to regain her composure* never heard it called that before. tee hee
hm. so without disappointment, torg?
As in clash of the
my welsh great-grandma used to use that term.
Alert: big brother is watching & listening
as7?
he he
Or not cu4 enough ..
whoop-de-doo, but thank you bo
'moon of Uranus' - isn't that what's on show when drunken men decide to show their buttocks in public, often from the window of a moving vehicle?
really? too bad my welsh relations have passed on
as7 - germ-free
LOL jac
that is just shameful... ty
great clue dc.
any clues for the 8?
27 left :)
ti8 - female giant that builds on clash of the ti5s
Squits is a bit like 'shart'. I think you all know the meaning of that one?
*nearly losing tea out of her nose* O.K. that's it, no more chog for me for a bit, I'm in a public place and people are looking at me funny
pu8 is the other word you seek, mkg.
no. please explain "shart"
uno
*wanders off mumbling about squits and Uranus' moons*
Sorry tfgrrl. (Not) LOL
..Gambled and lost ..
be well, tfgrrl
be well, tfgrrl :)
i got the clash of the ti 6 but dont know the other word from it.

congrats, kje
ty dc, and thanks for all your great clues
dont know pu 8 either. any clues?
:-p congrats kje - *poof*
much gusto, kje
i hate to runoff right after fireworks, but i am nearly falling asleep at the keyboard
powerful, mkg
dc i guess i need clues for both 8s. sorry.
bojazz - okay, I'll explain if I must. A 'shart' is a cross between a 'shit' and a 'fart' - you try to fart and shit happens.
teutonic
see ya... poof
sweet dreams, kje
oops sorry.-
'Night kje.
good phantom, mkg
mkg - good try but it's not in the grid today.
huh. last qu5 variant of kv*** - rye or barley beer from Russia
16 left but i need to go to bed. tomorrow is another day.
ty. great clue. actually it is not a beer, but is a soda made from bread. i had some in russia in 1969. horrible stuff.
sleep well, jmb
gnight jmb
dcs - yes, that is down to the vagaries of Enable.
mkg - it also refers to a beer.
still dont have either 8 word. any more clues out there please? i dont get the ones i have been given.
oh. ok.
pu8 is realy tough to clue
ti5 extends to female form for ti8 - giants
first up6?
firewords
pu8 = cat (insert vowel) then add picnic pest
female form? huh? ly???????
up6 - what they do at the beginning of a revolution
Well done, dcs.
got the pu. ty. great clue.
up6 - get out of bed.
thx jac
vowell doouble consonant for female form, mkg
mkg - what is a female giant called?
so how do you make ti 5 into female version??
A giant***.
oh gee. got it. ty dc. gee never would have gotten it. ty.
i'm looking for the ti7, myself
Well done, mkg.
without gratuity, rows
ti7 - what a waitress might fear?
an angry waitress = ti7
ah! got it :) ty
ti7 is what the waitress is if she goes home with no gratuties.
better Shir - lol
brevity is the soul of wit!
Or maybe a cigarette with no filter is ti7?
10 left :)

is that a clue mkg? :)
Shirlock - add 'not ** but them'.

well, let me try this again: hello babblers!
Helli pippin.
hi pip
Or even Hello. LOL
not a clue but i cant get that ti 7 from those clues. very confused.
lots and lots of words this time i see
or howdy
mkg - ti7 = without a pointy end.
as a waitress, i get the ti7 - it's the waitress after a table of canadians or germans
time for bed anyway i guess. but welcome to any other clues. i wanted to get half way and have only 105 words. so clues please! missing 7 of the 7s. and have 10 or 40 sixes. so clue away.
a waitress works for t*** - she gets none she is ti***SS
got it. now i get it.
wow.
Pippin - LOL! That's exactly what my daughter once told me.
second up6? anyone?
but the waitress didn't
Rows - mailed to Heaven again?
ooh thanks
ha ha bojazz
y/w Rows.
i need those up clues too. only have 3 up words.
mkg - you might be quite up5.14 if you don't see those words.
i understand different countries have different customs with gratuities and all, but it seems like a good idea to find out before you mess with someone's livelihood
if you're travelling that is
got that one. ty.
how many up words are there?
4 up words
Pippin - something else to remember re your restaurant waiting staff... most are Uni students and, one day, they might be your surgeon, psychiatrist, consultant, radiologist etc.
true, but i also believe it shouldn't matter - i have an almost phd and i'm amazed at the number of people who think it's okay to treat me like s*** because i have a "menial" job
up*4
and they would treat me different if they knew and that is totally lame
Unless your waiting staff display that they are numbskulls, don't treat them like they are. But, if they are numbskulls, don't forget that if you do piss them off they WILL either spit or pee in your food.
or worse!
years ago, in Montreal, we were tipping at the then-15% common here, but learned after the fact that 10% was common there. If we wanted another cuppa after paying, they were nowhere to be seen. LOL
i've never done anything like that, btw
LOL Pippin, I believe you.
need first qu 6 please.
Pippin - I don't treat anyone differently, unless they compel me to. I was talking generally from my own xperience of what you call 'menial' jobs and my daughter's.
there's only one, mkg, and it's qu5/16 with a vowel at the end
hi babblers; need cu6/24, cu6/30 and en 6/21 please
mkg - Fashion designer from the 60s Mary Qu*** with a vowel at the end.
cu6/24 is french word for thigh
oh it's not most of my customers, but it happens more often than i would like. don't understand people who treat any kind of service staff like they're less than human!
ty got it.
can anyone give a clue for us 5/12?
it's my last word :)
jac, only those of my age would know that clue. i am 62. how do you know that one?

ds
oops
becca what do the letters at the end of your name stand for? can you say it in mixed company?
I think this entire island must be online at this time of day (8-9ish pm) because there is a huge lag
you've been having trouble with lag haven't you?
just around this time, west
are you getting someone in to check out your computer?
I keep forgetting you're 3 hours earlier than me
so that would make sense
anyway, here's my new icon -- theme is George Barris Day. I had to google him :-)
that's right I don't know him either
May I please have a clue for sp5-14 the 2nd? Thanks
sp + babblers often need cl*** for hard words

Thanks much, jilli.
yeah, from the sublime to the ridiculous, eh west?
hi flosey
yw peach

hi jilli - you have a bat car too?
I'm going to go look for something
just a baby one, flosey ;)
hi flosey
hi west
yes please, I intend to go to bed early tonight
jilli, looks like a jazzed up Smart car
but not like the 55 we had the other night
that's why it's called the Batsmart, flosey
it that where you shop for bats?
ah, read it too quickly
around 150 would be nice. I have the local techie guru coming for 2 hours tomorrow afternoon.
who do you have jilli?
first name enough
funny, ruru :-/
Bob this time, flosey
a neighbour? perhaps retired?
no, a pro, used by many here
yes, I know him, he's been here a few times
also plays fiddle?
I hope he's as good as McGyver -- his name sounds like that
I don't know about his fiddling, lol ;)
ah, thought you meant McG.
this guy is Bob McI
don't know him
May I please have a clue for se6-24 the 1st? Thanks.
has he been stringing you along flosey?
well, I hope he can clear up my messy puter and give me some good advice
if you live in the country, you would probably have a se6 tank
lol ru
I'm back with my new icon
will hope so jilli
Thanks, flosey, I have that as the 2nd se6-24. Need the 1st.
1st se6/24 sounds like a blue shampoo -- add the sometime vowel and a cons to the previous word
wow West, that's some mean looking machine
bet he takes a bow often that fiddler
he is very good ru
isn't it flosey? kind of says 'get outta my way'
ooh, that's a biggie, west!
Thanks much, jilli.
at the fiddle and as a computer tech
hello ruru
who is a fiddler?
ru is being a rascal
yw peach
a local computer tech, west
these themes are so interesting..I would never have known who Barris is or what he does
ruru is being impossible. Dylan, nip his ankles and teach him to behave
I'd never heard the name
ouch ouch ouch
I always look forward to seeing what others post for the theme -- too often disappointed that few do
it should be a rule that whoever suggests the theme should post...
you'd think they would, west
but then again if they suggest it they probably know all about it
they often don't!
all the more reason to post
I mean they often don't post
can i get a clue for the last te6 pls?
and there are many whose birthdays are the theme who don't get to see the greetings because they don't come to babble that day
t + ** go home, + I don't have *** more words to find
true jilli, seems a shame
the Vietnam Te* offensive didn't leave m*** alive
Jilli - sorry that I often disappoint re themes.I tend to save my creative energy for my blog.
maybe we could have a birthday month and include everyone at the beginning
thank you
your choice, jac -- never mind
that's what our south end seniors do west, April is birthday month
I mostly copy and paste jac
West - some of the themes suggested were suggested 2 years or more ago.
no kidding I wondered
well I am learning things and that's always good
yes, Jac, and it says in Sprite's list, (save for next year) or words to that effect
jac I'd love to see your blog if you don't mind
I just enjoy finding out about the themes, and even if they're repeated (which is seldom) there are other choices to make. Witness ambigrams.
Copy and paster is fine, so long as you proof read it first and it IS a subject you actualy know something about. If not, I suggest, you should not suggest it.
I haven't made any suggestions..I just meant I'm not being creative when I cut and paste
I think wst means we copy and paste from wikipedia or some such source when we post our icons, not when we suggest themes
and I do read first lol
I made a suggestion once, it wasn't used, can't remember what it was
well I'll be flosey !!
I'll make an amendment there, you can suggest a theme if it's something you woould like to know about. But you should then find out about it yourself.
must have been something very thought provoking
flosey, there was a time when sprite's computer was on the fritz
very true jac
good idea
was probably during that time jilli
kitchen floods flosey?
jac, we're not talking about suggesting themes, we're talking about following the suggestions
could well have been, west
how are you jac have you been up all night?
jilli - slapped wrist for me then for being away long enough to have been talking to Other Half and then coming back to chat. I'll shut up then. Goodnight.
May I please have a clue for me6-21 the 2nd? Thanks
hi again. I was just reading here about the themes. IF I didn't have to change my icon, I would post something about the themes, but I'm not here every day either; so that may not help. I had a dickens of a time getting my icon on here and I just decided to leave it alone

nef I find it easiest to take the picture from google images and put it on my desk top then 'choose' it
brb
I'm on a Mac and have had a lot of trouble putting images on different sites. I belong to a nursing BB and I still can't get a picture posted there after 10 years of trying!
me too
on a Mac I mean
okay.
sometimes I have to put the image into iPhoto and then choose it
I think it's 5:52 am where Jac is
I know it's very early
I wish she hadn't gone away
hi all; cool icons and stories west and jili
Nef I know next to nothing about computers so I love my mac lol
hi dee love to learn new things
some day I would love to try a mac... have never had one before
ditto that west
you could rule the world
I put pix from Google into My Pictures. Sometimes they need cropping or something and I can edit them in Photoshop Elements or Album StarterEdition
I discovered how to do a fun thing on Sunday
what's that, dee?
I took a photo from a friend's facebook album; removed all the color and made it into a coloring book page, then colored it for her kids in MSPaint
wow, pretty fancy stuff, dee!
little more complicated than that, but that was the end result...
and hi dee hi ;-)
sounds like you are really getting the hang of your new computer dee
was so cute, and doing it that way preserved the original eyes in the photo
Hi, all!
good evening, all :)
hello jellen are you okay?
I love things like that west! Used to do it on old one before it aged too much, so this is like opening up a new world again
hi jellen and nan!

10 left.....thanks for all the help.
I'm quite well, thanks!
that's good !!
wtg peach
looked like nasty ones on the weather channel
hi peach wtg
Oh, I hadn't heard...I've been in Arkansas for a couple of days...
Part of my problem is whenI used to try to learn how to do stuff; my kids would just take over and DO it for me! I've never had a computer class or anything; but because the kids did those things for me (instead of teaching me HOW to do it myself) I feel really ignorant about some things like pictures
teach the kids to teach, nef!
I know what you mean nef our 4 yr old granddaughter knows more than I do
just get a good step by step book nef
totally understand that Nef... I always have to do things myself to learn them
