Aw, you are so sweet, Flosey! I know, I don't know what's wrong with me!
we'll just tack on the sentence
lol, but it's more fun in here anyway grem
You need BabbleExpert, kimm
What is babble expert?
It's a big help if you have a PC and not a Mac -- puts everything on one page and has a box where if you type one word it goes to the lists and more than one word goes to the chat. It's free -- just email Lickety and he will send it -- IF you have a PC
Ah, but I have a mac!
oh, too bad!
hello again - back for 31 - bed made house tidied
congrats, ursh!
hi ursh
I chat too much as usual -- still 68 to go
not much better here jilli, 73, guess I'm chatting too much too
not good at multi tasking
so much time in the pb party i got 86 to go
I hope you noticed that HW had 100 found a while ago -- do we have a budding grem?
66 here
Oh, that was 100 to go, HW?
yeppers
but it was after a long day at work
phew, I was getting an inferiority complex
which work today, HW?
vet hospital
awww -- sick critters?
lots of pomeranians today, and lots of dog bites
bitten poms or bitten people?
poms, the poeple did okay
great company, but I must get to bed, good night everyone
66 for tomorrow
bye flosey
bye
what, a pom fight? Or other dogs bit the poms? (Are poms particularly popular in Que?)
nite flosey ;)
45 left for me...darks in the dryer and whites in the wash...
a demain!
lots of dog bites in general but today we had two poms that were bitten- and one with a fracture and one with a chocolate intox
wtg pav! On all counts!
oh my -- somebody didn't know about chocs for dogs?
phantom = heroine, but th4, where is Wonder Woman these days?
a chocolate intox?
hello katie
intoxication
chocolate is toxic to dogs
hello everyone. Does that mean he is poorly because he has too much chocolate?
sorry using clinicspeak
hi katie
some owners are crazy, thought all dog owners knew no chocolate for dogs
ok, having hiccups here...45 to go for tomorrow
ok, having hiccups here...45 to go for tomorrow
wd pav
you'd be suprised what people don't know, how many sick pets we see because people don't bother to vaccinate
and some don't believe in vaccination *shakes head sadly
2 parvo cases today
sheesh
maybe they do know but don't care
i can't even understand why unless a dog is to be bred or shown that desexing isn't mandatory
i wish they'd pass a law for that
or subsidise it
me too -- we sold a Dane pup to a "nice" woman with an official CKC Non-breeding Agreement -- she bred her anyway so of course the pups couldn't be registered.
They didn't like to spay at 12 weeks then
wierd. now they do it with lazers.
my vet does it at 6 months, hugo had his op a month ago, there was a minimum of fuss from him
every vet has their own opinion
Here in SA most people spay females but tend to leave males unless he has problems. cats they tend to also leave the males which creates probs with fighting - but hundreds and hundreds of unwanted animals especially in rural areas
yes, and it's strange b/c its usually cheaper to fix males
they tend to be more agressive if not fixed
We have three toms all neutered - no aggression and no scent marking
yeah, mine is fixed and he's a doll
don't unfixed toms spray like mad (stinky)?
HW -- would they spay a Dane with lasers?
We get a male visiting at night and he has sprayed somewhere in my office - i cant find the spot and it smells awful in here
Oh yuk, ursh!
they did my dog with lazers
but your dog is a toy poodle, isn't she?
yes
when did they start doing that, HW? My late susiecat had surgery about 20 years ago.
gosh i dunno, in the last 5 years?
ha ha , my vet is nearly 70, he probably isn't ready for lazer
ah, progress!
i have been taking dogs and cats to him for nearly 40 years and feel loathe to change
I wonder if they do that here -- must ask. Montreal is so avant-garde.
my son was in toronto last week, said its a lovely town
andree, mere 70-yr-olds aren't fuddyduds, lol!
once you trust someone there's no point in making a change
is that anywhere near you jilli
i know jilli, will hate it when he retires
Toronto? Absolutely almost on the other side of Canada, Andree.
shows how much i know about canada jilli
ok bedtime
bye all
how many words today??
nite HW -- a la prochaine
141
a bientot
I heading for bed too
48 left -- busy tomorrow but we'll see -- and *poof*
morning all
Hello
hey lady
How are you? Sorry I took so long to replyh. I am eating dinner and fighting off a cat
lol busy lady! Enjoy dinner. I am a little better again, slept well and have some more energy. So on the mend! And you?
I went to the gym and was a human hamster
awwwwwww cute!
Yer well My butt needs deexpanding. The cat thinks that because I have salmon that means so does she
hehehe don't worry too much about your butt, just keep on eating healthy and you will be fine. You're an expert!
I will get thinner I need to. This fish is fantastic
lol I haven't even had breakfast yet. Fish is a thought far from me :)
My friends mum won a United Nations Human Rights Media Award for Radio For her journalism. I think I need to pick her brains
wooooot gratz!
This was new news to me
very cool
I went to the fish store to buy this fish and they were gross. I went to Aldi and and the fish was fantastic
Aldi usually has quality stuff. German store, originally. Germans demand good products.
I was suprised at how poor the fish store was. The fish was grey and well gross. It was not plump and fresh looking. Aldi has great stuff
wow finally finding words with the -ing ending.
Opps I haven't even started
I am almost do4 and thought that ending was hardly used. But it is used more than I thought.
I never see that ing ending. My cat is so daft I just gave her real fresh fish and nope not interested
lol lady... silly cat
fi4flies. Very nice grid.
I must be off, have fun, lady, and sleep well.
Same Have a lovely day
gd morning everybody
Spring!!!!
how did you get your name in lady? relationship with Dr. God?? Hego yesterday!
nice grid, that's the fastest I ever got to half!
21 minutes! yay
except I'm alone here :((
no you're not ruby...just doing the first run through
hello eva
I love this grid!
as I don't have any of the 8's yet I'm not in love
I don't either, but I'm fickle!
well it's a relief to know theyre not obvious
they're never obvious to be! but I found 3 7's and that's a lot for me!
ah-just got the in8!
congrats! does it relate to anything else?
I'm putting the monkeys to work!
no, but is has the long end---
they found an in7!
good mokeys!
the 8's are in, or, ro and in
supposedly the in is the only vaguely normal word
maybe if I offer a banana.....
it's funny that a lot of scrabble words don't work in here: zins zines
sorry-that's cr, in, or, ro
thank you for trying; I think I need some more coffee
I need a different grid!
I need a different brain!
that too
I have four 7's to offer if they would help....
and both z's, lol
we can trade: I have cr7/36,do7/40,ho7/40, in7/52
ooh, I'd love the second z-only have zi4/11
one who does that, or a snappy line!
zi6/39
the in7 begins like getting money when someone dies and then has the gerund ending
also sw7/52 from the 60's
thanks!
had that one too-I guess i have 5 7's
were those clues any good? mine tend to be a little weird
those were great
ignorant about a gerund ending *blushing*
here's another for the in8-it means the property of belonging to something, being a property of something. "ing" is the gerund
no need to blush
Hi - another in7 is in & brawl
that one I have! hello lynxxxx
if you take the verb for getting money from someone's estate and remove to letters from the middle you'll have the in8
have that one lynxx but thanks
any clues for the cr, or and ro 8's lynxx?
Life always looks more hopeful when lynxx appears
cr7/36 sang like frank Sinatra
not tonight I am afraid
have that
aw....you're justsayng that
lunch for the sw***** I'm afraid! lol
have fn
fun that is
bye for now Ruby
see you later!
tks for the clues
think I'm going to take a break too-50 left and stuck
just got two little h4's, now I'm stuck lol
61 left
got the ro if you want to wait for me to work out a clue
sure!
ok, I'll wait a minute unless he starts stomping about!
I keep trying gringo
ro & ***er into the room & army rank ***eral (TY Morewords)
thanks! It is a measure of x-rays strength I think?
I should have remembered that from high school, only 50+ years ago raofl!
ty lunxx, you're a champ
German - something to do with xrays
would never had gotten that in a million years
I'm surprised it's not capitalized, but I guess it's like ampere or tesla!
or watt
or coulomb
hi Grem
faraday
morning gremlin
that's funny, colomb is a very local haute-savoie name, also spelled collombe or collomb
hi
gm gremlin
what does it mean?
now lunch for husband!
phantom-generic
and coreign
and codger
rogering
exactly
was sure that one was going to be my first 8
I mean exactly what I was thinking.....not that it is a phantom
my first was the in8 which is more or less normal
cr8.50 sounds awfully like something you put on your underarms
hmmm
creodent doesn't work....am I close?
cr & **n is a period of time & ***'* tell me you can't work out this clue
wow - just change the last vowel
thanks!!!
how do you know these things lynxxx-totally awesome
Nope - using Morewords for these
I've never used morewords-have to check it out. Is it easy to use?
Very
pats merp happily.
wire
oops
hi Wild
hi
just used it and found the lat 8! the or8 : or + a vowel, + you're a __ius lynxxx, plus the first 2/3 of frozen h20
hi wild
merp is wild this morning-has killed two critters over night.
You'd think there would be some sort of learning curve for rodents....that they could smell the predator, that one of them would leave a sign "Abandon all hope ye who enter here".
TY Eva. Oh by the way, Haz gets a kickback for all new Moreword users - she will be pleased
Am I supposed to register or something?
What a good puss!
yes he is. There's a squirrel in the wall who is driving us both nuts. I've ordered a superduper ultrasonic transmitter to see if that works.
no, just joshing. She is a big fan of Morewords and tells everyone about it - including me
what a great tool!
okay-now time to take a break. Having some lower arm pains recently which I think may be carpal tunnel from too much typing.
I usually use Morewords before I use Lickety or any other lists
Lots of breaks are the order for you. See you later Eva
good morning everyone
hi Cross. This has become more than occasional
lol, when i up early i catch the aussies before they head off to beddy bye:)
i am completely stuck on the th5/18 - help please
nm found it - top of leg
TY Ursh -. Hi
hi lynxxx - that was fireworks for me - washing machine playing up - need to go and see what problem is and if it is fixable
Congrats Ursh. Hope you can fix it and save $s
correction - rand

why doesn
why doesn't the puzzle accept the word Negro? Is it actually Negroid, like in caucasoid, mongoloid??
Awww
I don't think the word Negro is politically correct lol
No Beetle as it is a proper noun
it takes the "other" N word tho, same in scrabble
thanks her
oops
It is a proper Noun
There are, to put it mildly, inconsistencies in the enabling dictionary
it takes most of the dirty words as well
+ Italian
or should i say, the "other" dirty words
but they are still words
I think Babble is law to itself .... beetle
tinger
well said, Norma
Yes but Babble doesn't except Nouns or Names.
oops
cr 8 clue please
unless the name is also a regular word like as in leno
My daughter cannot see what the attraction is for Babble she says it is a silly game that doesn't take proper words lol
G'day All
Morning hego
cr+vowell+ orth*****ia (tooth straightening)
Happy Monday. (if possible)
Hi Hego
Hi Merk
Norma let me guess your dog is all PLAYYYYYYY and the cats are all bugger off
ty and hi everyone ... sorry to be so rushed. I'm traveling again and have grabbed an internet connection long enough to try to find the longer words. How I miss Lickety on days like this!
herin have you been watching them lol ... the dog chases them and cannot understand why they get narky with him ... he wants to play and they just jump up out of his way lol
Hi Merk ... where is lickety does anyone know ??
Merk, I bekieve Gremlin has a list.

News flash Lickety is looking after MR Pres after she broke her leg and her ankle on the other side
cr+ second vowel + last vowel +shortened version do not

141
Getting her chickens in. Walked on wobbly plank chicken flapped through her off balance and well she didn't land at all well. Thinks that we need to wrap her in cotton wool

Helloooooo (hellooo, hellooo). Is there anyone there (there there there)?
Hi Becca, I just logged on
HI Aloy. I've never seen the chat so quiet before. Where is everyone?
no idea! Maybe they stayed up late to watch the Health Care vote?
Or they are out making the most of the Spring weather.
What happened with the vote - are there any results yet?
The air is so fresh and sweet this morning.. we had a huge storm yesterday - the bill PASSED, historic one
Wow - that is momentous.
It truly is..
Uh, I've got to 88 words and now I'm stuck :o(
I babbled at the flip, so I have 25 to find this morning
am stuck too.. going to seek a list
I should be doing something more prdsuctive with my time really, as baby is snoring at the moment.
aww, how old is your baby?
*productive
20 months.
Not really a baby anymore!
going to click on your icon..
What a beautiful child! Congratulations
love that picture.. (-:
Thank you. It's quite an old pic now - his hair is now over his eyes but I can't bring myself to cut it!
thank you gremlinn for posting a list .. what is his name, Becca?
Solomon Journey (yes that's his middle name).
Wonderful name! Is he your first?
Yes, first and only!
If he ever sleeps through, then MAYBE we will think about having another one. But only maybe.
last night we talked with our g-daughter - she lives across the country from us, so I am indebted to modern techno to be able to "visit" with her.. she is 2 1/2 yrs old now. I know how tough the sleep issue is.. and that is one of the reasons my D-I-L is not anxious to have another..
Sol wakes up to 8 times every night. I couldn't possibly manage another baby at the moment.
And when he does start to sleep, I'm going to be selfish and have some sleep too!
oh my.. what does the pediatrician say? You must be dragging yourself around some days..
Haven't asked for any advice - I don't think there is anything to be done about it except wait and be patient.
hope he sleeps through the night soon!
And I manage with the sleep I get. I surprise myself at how well I cope!
THanks Aloy, so do I!
ooh, just found er7 by trying a vowel in front of the rat/mouse word.. what fun
Ooh, thanks! Didn't have either of those.
yvw, had the rat/mouse but not the other
Do you have the word from the second e in the top row?
yes, let me look
MN, got it.
*NM
eg4 is the one I believe, e + abb. for Deutsch
ah, ok..
How come it's allowed? It's a proper noun according to Dictionary.com.
what does it mean?
It's a city and a river in Hungary.
I'm looking it up in my dict..
OK... alt spelling for eagre, a tidal flood
Ah, thanks for clarifyin. You must have a really good dict.
it is my Scrabble dictionary, (-:
so it lacks many words
but if they work in Scrabble, they are in the dict.
66 left bbl good luck all
bye, jmb!
Bye jmb!
I thought we were alone Aloy!
hi all
HI Mr Bob!
there are 2 in4/4's I can only find the one that means to enter. no other letter combo works?????
hi Mr Bob
Are you starting on the right i vicl? The second one starts on 4th row i.
in + the **yal family attended the opening of the opera.. (a babblet to remember)
yes, ty!
Sorry, the first one, I mean.
brb.. time for a java refill
I was on the wrong i , Becca
Easily done vicl.
.. back Silly Mockingbird makes me smile..
What is SIlly Mockingbird?
having a lot of trouble today. will take a break!
any clues for the 8 letter words?
hine
hiner
we have mockingbirds here.. they are "silly" bc their incessant songs.. enjoy them.. they try to mock everything in a litany..
I don't have any of them mkg, sorry.
hello everybody
thanks for the clues in the chog
Hi ruby. Did you get your rain yet?
I've read that mockingbirds in big cities learn the sounds of car alarms! too funny
cr8: start with the prefix to the black gooey tar and end with a suffix for teeth (or the word you use to tell someone **** do that!)
yes, we had the perfect amount and everything is greening up and the hiacinths are budding! I love spring!!!!
Oh it sounds lovely!
I am very lucky to be here, becca, even though I gripe a lot!
hi rubyfoo... we used to have one that hopped up and down on the roof by our chimney, chirping/singing on and on, hopping up and down.. I called it "Silly George" for some reason.. enjoy those birds
great clue, aloy, and how are you?
am okie dokie, rubyfoo.. start of the week, doing laundry etc.. looking forward to the circus on Saturday
my husband feeds the birds constantly, and only premium sunflower seeds, and although we have some pretty ones, the only one with a good voice is the least pretty, a merle. He has a glorious voice and a large repertoire
and how are you?
Only 35 more words to find! Yay!
I guess if you're not handsome, you have to be a good singer!
wow, I don't know merles! .. going for bird book..
Spring makes me feel better, but the same problems continue.....
it is all black with a yellow beak, about the size of a robin, a ground feeder
I don't think they exist in the US
I've had to learn many new birds here, added about 25 to my "life list"
nope, not in my NA bird book
Looks like a blackbird (just loked it up on google!).
but blackbirds have lovely bright shoulders, non?
the redwinged blackbirds have lovely epaulets
we have lots of "blackbirds" , many types
Not ordinary ones, they are just black.
we have little chartreuse birds called verdiers; they look like finches to me but I couldn't find anything like them in any books
trust me, merles don't
becca, is there something called a green finch in the UK?
I don't know!
and we have pinsons, lovely ground feeders with black and white shoulders and rose-colored bellies
Google says yes.
Why do you ask ruby?
where I grew up in NY, we had nuisance startlings, very pretty individually but dirty and noisy in flocks!
all newbie birds to me, getting ready to pack my bags and binoculars, lol
I'm not very good a birds - I only know the common ones.
I couldn't find any name for them but verdiers (here) but thought they were finch-like
my trick to bird watching is putting a feeder just outside a window. You can watch the birds eating (keeping a guide handy) and not have to tromp around in the woods, hoping to get lucky
Do an image search on google - you can compare them then and see if they are the same.
and I could never master binoculars; they are always pointing the wrong way for me
that is how I started, ruby.. snowed in and the birds came to the feeder, brightening the winter days
we've had one deep olive green (with a touch of red) woodpecker on the property, but only once
I just looked up verdiers on google and got a french info page. Not too helpful :( But they are yellowish, not green??? Hi
I'd like to know more.
hi hootowl!
when I lived in Princeton, we hung suet and seeds on a nearby tree and set the telescope on it, even saw a cedar waxwing once!
Hi hootowl.
chartreuse, like the drink!!! lol
cedar waxwings are gorgeous!
hello hootowl!
during the winter, they were very drab, but we have about 8 pairs breeding in the shrubbery and the males are resplendent in there spring plumage
their* duh
my literacy flies out the window when I get excited
We have a feeder in our yard and get alot of birds. Thought I had a young cardinal and realized later it was a cedar waxwing.
lol, a latent bird nerd!
Ruby, I thought you were just avoiding the pb!
dinner is cooking and I have to go make a martini for Mr. Nasty (who, by the way, is trying to be nice, but it doesn't convince me). Maybe his plumage will change
hootowl, I thought a tufted titmous was a baby bluejay.. then I asked for a bird book for Christmas, and the rest is histor
history, even
too funny, I missed that word altogether!
And ty for the cr8 - in8 is in + the rest of sticking something to someting - like a post-it note
hope so, rubyfoo.. (-:
are there martinis in the PB? I could send my slightly-used husband there for his drink with all you nice ladies!
Hah - we might not be nice to him
see you all after dinner, which BTW is in the oven - roast chicken and sweet potatoes
or8: insert a vowel and end with hy*****, adj. meaning clean or sterile
((hugs))
It's amazing. Lousy winter and 2 days of warm weather and they are all in beeding mode. Temps dropped again and they seem to have calmed down
the process of mountain formation, gheez, no end to what one can learn on Babble
now I'm hungry.. sweet potatoes, yumm
ty
breeding
gotta find a list - bb in amin
wonder if she the potatoes were ho6.24, sweetened with the product of bees?
Time for me to go. Bye everyone, happy Babblling!
egads, my words are hopping around, sorry
bye, Becca.. nice chatting with you.. hugs to Solomon
back
hah.. appropo to our discussion, or5.10 "avifauna".. wb, h4owl
I usually don't come on when my name is in the grid. Saves people from choking :D
lol.. peri is in the grid often.. think I read that it is ok if someone's name is in the grid..
Don't really know. They are very good at making rules and then ignoring them.
I am usually on at the flip and I try to ignore them. They say no cluing til 1am and then start throwing clues around. I've also noticed outright cluing at 12:10. So what's the point?
The problem or the good thing about babble, is that rules aren't really written down, they are more kind of understood - or not!
well, I usually don't open chog until I've drained my brain because it spoils the discovery aspect of Babbling for me..
hi Haz! yes, a very flexible fence
Hello! I'm typing on an unfamiliar keyboard, so apologies for any mistakes.
guess it all depends on what your goal is.. if you just want to finish the grid, period.. no matter how.. or.. if you want to enjoy the process of doing the grid.. or.. if you want to do both but are constrained by time.. etc etc
"whatever floats your boat" to put it succinctly
yep
as a player who starts when the grid changes, I agree with HO - it is a somewhat silly 'rule' the people who start 12 hours later (or whatever) have the advantage of all the clues! What's the point
I refuse to believe that there are real live people who can finish a 200 word puzzle in 5 min!
Everyone has their own favourite way of doing this, the trick is finding some way for everyone to get along while accommodating everyone's needs/wishes.
hi flosey!
and the funny thing, a few jump on anyone who asks for a clue, but then, if they're stumped, find a 'cute' way of saying they just can't find so and so
must be confusing to a newcomer
Hi flosey
Hi Aloy, Haz, everyone
Well that's a big problem. We've been getting a lot of new members and I think they are confused
Jilli and and hubby and I are meeting Stid and her mom for lunch today
The only thing is that sometimes when you start a grid, you don't necessarily want clues - a bit like someone putting a piece in a jigsaw uninvited. There's no easy solution, but if I were on at flip time, I'd probably hide chat, just to save myself from nervous exhaustion.
how nice, flosey!
yes, it's always fun to meet up with babblers we've been chatting with
oboy - wish I could be there!
I think Dr-God has just let babble evolve - the whole chat thing and the working out of clues jargon has come from babblers.
woulldn't it be lovely if we could have a babble reunion
it is funny, Haz.. at the flip .. sometimes I throw in stats on a word, but mostly I hide chat.. we have some amazing speedy babblers
I am in nowhere land in Memphis. May try to meet Une one day but that'll be it
true Haz, but those who don't want to see clues can easily cover it up - or make it smaller so the chatline doesn't show
I'm genetically programmed to see only four letter words ar first.
me too, I ignore the big ones that are flying around at flip time
I seem to be blind to 6 letter words
I have done it twice - and that was because I just wanted to prove that a "regular" player could do it too.
They could, flosey, but they'd probably say that an hour of non-cluing is a kind of compromise.
but still that only applies to players who start at flip
yes, when you hide chat you miss the comraderie (sp?)
no one else has to follow that silly 'rule'
yes, agree Aloy, which is unfortunate
lol, I know that each of us has self-imposed rules.. I do
I'm not sure what they are doing but I get the distinct impression that the people who were starting at the flip when I started this game - are now hiding . So the newbies have taken over.
There's no easy solution to it, unless Dr-G introduces separate chat rooms for those who know, those who don't want to know and those who just want to have a good time.
ah, could be, H O
hola
there are many listed Babblers that I NEVER see in chat
been reading your comments. I think that I no longer count as a newbie
and then there is geek...hi geek!
hundreds, aloy
yup
geek is tired today
hi geek
geek, are you still teaching? You amaze me! I had to drop out of Babble when I was teaching.. exhausting
yes, one of our friends here on the island never 'enters into
yes but i am in a very small school.
chat, just plays her own game
ah so..
I have to get lost in this grid, rushing to finish, lunch, pack, bridge tonight, leave 9: am tomorrow
happy babbling everyone
See you later, flosey.
dive in and have fun, flosey!
hahaha - might just drop in to ask for a clue or 2
well 2 things burn me up - spelling out a clue and using obscure references. What's wrong with a definition?
Hey I'm moving on sat and have to pack...but I'll finish
H O - some of us don't know what the word means - then even if we check it, it doesn't make sense
lol .. weirdo words.. no idea what they mean.. (makes note to keep dict. handy)
And a clue or 2 is fine. You never ask for "all the g's"
if someone clued a medical word, I'd have to go to google to find it
I realise that - but saying it's it+******n** doesn't help either
so true
that's just annoying
Sometimes it's hard to think of a definition. As for obscure references, google is a wonderful tool - hopefully whoever has clued a word thinks it's helpful rather than confusing.
Haz, could you write a guide to clues? Your clues are outstanding
yes!
everyone does just mean well
true Aloy
I did write one once for Angelsong's page, but I don't think it's there any more. I probably adhere to the understood though not written down rules of clueing.
I realise that defs don't always work but I also find it hard to believe that after having the same word 4 days in a row they either can't find it on day 5 or clue so badly you don't know what they are talking about
There have been times when they clued a word and I couldn't figure it out. Later I would find the word on my own and wonder what the h*** they were talking about in their clue
I suppose it's just an illustration of the fact that people's minds work differently.
indeed H O, some clues can be misleading!
I know I am preaching to the choir but it is making me feel better - sorry
lol , different life experiences to draw upon
Finished......all without lickety......so that's FIREWORDS!!!!!!
well it is good to get frustrations out HO, I feel lthe same
hello there babblers. :)
WTG MM
wtg, movieman! congrats!!!
I'm gonna stop now - really do have to pack. Seeya later
hi Eva
Well done, Movieman! Hello EvaNadine.
Hi Eva, and must say bye again as I delve into the grid to finish quickly (if possible)
Bye hootowl.
bye, owl.. see you next time (-:
Bye H O
how are we, this monday?
speaking of Lickety, I was so sorry to see the news of MrP's fractures.. any update?
Good Morning Everyone
hi Momneeds
hi all
hugs all, am going to cover up the chat, it's too tempting to visit!
Not that I know of, Aloy, I'm assuming that FB will give details.
hints for any 8s?
hi Boo
hi Boo
there's a or8
cr8
that's all I have
in8 - if it began with ad, you'd be sticking to something.
TY haz. gotta noodle those, flosey. :)
just found my last word, ro8, a unit of xray radiation
ne
hi inge!
off I go .. need to scratch some items off my "to do" list.. thanks for the company, Babblers.. see you next grid. Have a great Monday!
BYe Aloy.
clue for the cr8 please
cr8 - c plus a prefix meaning to do again (two letters), first two letters of not even, finish with mixed up letters of a heavy weight. The whole looks like something you'd wear to stop perspiration or something.
thank you haz
cr8 - what fences wear under their armpits to stop sweating.
hello everyone, as usual a perfect clue, haz, thanks
You're welcome.
fences?
dachef, great clue too
yup. ;D
I didn't know fences sweat.. why would farmers leave them out in the sun?
As punishment, of course.
fences in a farm or fences who sell stolen g4s
I am starting FETA an new protection organization
the fence ethical treatment association
FETA might be a bit of a cheesy name.
we have wine and cheese at our meetings
that would ne-gate its own purpose. (Geddit???)
And if members don't behave, do they walk the plank?
I knew you would POST that Dachef
this is a new field for me. I'm hedging my bets at the moment.
The theme song sung by all members would be 'Don't fence me in'
lol
every member is automatically "wired"
er7? does it relate to the er5?
finally got it - thanks haz - brain is working alittle slow this Monday
Glad you got it, Mom.
It carries it on. (the er5)
thanks
You're welcome.
i cant decide what i want for lunch, but im hungry, so i guess id better PICKET soon!
I would corral in a nice salad eva
No stonewalling, ruru, just jump right in with suggestions.
i guess it all hinges on what im hungry for...
you're right on the border with that one...
why is lickety so out of date?
you would have to have lettuce instead of lattice though
Does anyone have a list?
theres one at Babblers Anonymous
BRB all. im no longer on the fence -- im gonna have my quesadilla! (i got them at austin grill, not on the BORDER!)
Why can't 'orcing' be a word? As in Tolkien, LOTR, Book 2 (deleted scenes): "Fancy coming out for a bit of wizarding Saluman?" "Sorry Gandalf, can't tonight. Got a fair bit of orcing to do."
the person that posts lickety had an accident and broke her leg so it will be out for awhile
would be orking
really? Thought they were 'orcs'?
mmm
Hey Crosshair- we did it!
LIckety is the poster, Mrpresident is his wife, and she's the one who broke her leg.
we will have to submit it to websters
Healthcare for all!
indeed you did kaplan!! was like getting a kid to take medicine though lol
OMG
Can someone clue the upper lone e?
eg and sound like "ahem"
If there is Flooring, why not do**ing?
help on en6 please
And toering. Really.
ty annie but i dont get it
my wifes U.S girlfriend is still wailing "oh my taxes!" lol
e and ***ald Ford, former president
thanks........
i was trying to make it a 5 letter word
never mind got it
in 7 has me stumped
mm i have an 8 but not the 7
in7 - the sort of feud that's kept in the family?
For those wondering about Lickety - Mr. P had a fall (in chicken yard?) and broke left leg, right ankle.
thank you
in7- not "out there" but in**** with gerund ending
That's the in8, Kaplan.
whilst my leftover quesadilla is quite yummy, methinks me may also need a salad...
Oops- can't count. But I like my clue
So I don't get the in7 clue then
and just the word I needed, so thanks Kaplan!
in plus to battle with
thanks Haz, got two words from that clue
You're welcome, Annie.
TY
another nice clue for the in 8 would be in+ the fish euros often eat with their breakfast
my dad used to like then..stunk the house up lol
It has a double consonant in the middle, though. Just call me Fusspot today.
the fish or your dad? ;)
im sure a babbler can figure it out
both
lol!!!!
i like them pickled
im sorry fish and eggs? ill pass
of course he liked the old fashoined fry up..there would be tomatos, onions, yesterdays boiled tatties ..everything but the sink lol
got the in8, ty
hello all
howdy peri
help with other 8's pls
i trust the single r did not throw you off too badly:)))
nope
good stuff;))

NM found the z words

Good afternoon, everyone. How's the grid today?
hi Takuma, seem to be stuck at the moment, but more than half way
in4 - Babblet ending in beginning of fish eggs
excellent!
Hello, all.
oops - gotta run.
duh, ty, Vicuna, was looking in the wrong direction
Gorgeous photo, Takuma...
(Hmm, may have missed him already.)

ed4/7, I should say
ty, Vicuna, I am babble blind today :)
No problem, peri!
Off to update my icon...

fireworks - sorry, covered up chatbox so I wouldn't be tempted, rushing, having lunch today with Jilli, stid and her mom, then errands, pack, bridge tonight and off island, leaving 9 am tomorrow, may pop in tonight just to see what the grid is like! otherwise, may be in and out while at daughter's
Have a good time flosey

Hello everybody. :)
hi soods
Hello, Soodlebum.
hi all, and my phantom is: intone
Hello, Book Doc.
mine is nothing
wazaap y'alls?
found some ketchup in the grid
and hotdog is very nearly there, too.
oh yum
wiener, too, for that matter
Now I'm getting hungry.
43 and stuck
and there's even a co4-dog, if you put 'em together
It's a veritable county fair feast.
but there's no elephant ears. I WANT AN ELEPHANT EAR! lol
Elephant ears? Which county fair are you going to? What are elephant ears???
what are elephant ears?? We get pig ears but we give them to our dogs!!
well, they make a kind of a cripy flat-bread think, then fry it, then sprinkle it with sugar. it's deadly.
they are plants
cripy = crispy. (OY)
Oh, like funnel cakes? Yum.
think = th5 (OY)
Yes, caladium are called elephant ears, too, but I don't think people eat them!
I know about elephant ears -- yummy!
Now you atre making me hungry!!
okay, here's what's funny. i don't know what a funnel cake it. could be the same th5
lol
Well, I only know of elephant ear plants. Your's sound yummy.
i'm in michigan and up here they are called elephant ears. they are about the size of a dinner plate. they "showed up" maybe 10-15 years ago. didn't have 'em when i was gorwing up
Does anyone have a clue for the lower lone I?
gorwing (which is in the grid) = growing (YO)
I was introdiced to sopapillas when I was visiting now they are yum!!
Aha, here's the word: elephant ears are made with yeast dough and funnel cakes with batter.
the it5 is a many-stringed instrument, without the initial Z
thanks gwen
no6,27 please, my last word
(YO) = (OY) (OY)
Iit might be 'come h***** but I have lost tracj=h where things come from!!
But it's all fried and sugared, so it's all good! =)
oh, yes, elephant ears are to eat when you don't care about the calories n stuff
no6/27 - the Yiddish word for a pest. It's been showing up frequently recently.
here are elephant ears: http://tinyurl.com/ygdlarj
aka - my son
NM, got it
can you clue it Vi?
nothing!! is not in the grid
Thanks Vic, ain't it the way, as soon as you ask, you find it.
no6/27 - no + end of a hunting l----
ty
Yay for bubba!
okay, back from looking at elephant ears on the netweb
my, but it's nice to be greeted so warmly and thanked so profusely for providing a link to elephant ears
Vicuna, a hunting what?
i eat one once a year (give or take) at the local founder's festival
nm, figured it out
Sorry Jilli - deep in the depths of the puzzle. Nice to see you.
Awww... sorry jilli! We're so happy to see you, with or without elephant ear links!
we eat elephant ears in honor of the founders of our town where there was a big elephant ear famine in 1824
lol, Book Doc. Reminds me of "42 pounds of edible fungus" from Homer Price.
oooh, found another word! (56 to go)
LOL gwen! There's a famine here, all right, although a local supermarket makes them but dips the top half in chocolate -- no, no, no!
hunting?????
hmmmm, chocolate elephants . . .
d----ball, if you prefer, cybernan
I have 48 to go and the stids should be arriving here in about 10 minutes
clue for co6 pls
Or John H----man
dont have boo
co 6: taking the centre out of an apple
not getting the hunting, ball, or john clue AAARRRGGHH
John who?
Are the clues somewhere?
co6 - After co6 the apples, slice them thinly and put them inthe crust...
Oh - co 6 - what one does to an apple
I'm not getting them either, gwen

i need one, harry!! LOL
what
is there an in8?
yes, it's the pickled fish one, without the djouble consonant
in and a fish euros like with their breakfast
I have cr8, or8 and ro8, but no in8
i'm discombobulated -- had lunch with friends from work where I was downsized several years ago . . . a bit nervewracking
in 8 just clued by une -- in + pickled fish
I kept starting with the wrong i
in8 is the word I clued, ruby
thank you
(in case anyone needs them, clues are in my profile)
lol i hate the term downsized..i got promoted out of my last positions so mine was termed 'a lateral move" rubbish!
well, they actually "deleted" my editorial job and had me apply for other "new" ones in marketing -- i had been there a long time -- it was rough . . .
it,s either grab the next rung and sell your soul or move out of the way
deleted..even worse;(
that's horrible, une!
yeah "deleted" sucks... especially these days
i decided my soul belonged to my wife and child and not a business
we won't even go into the errors I would have caught that ended up costing them a fortune
A costly lesson for them, which i'm sure they justified
for instance, one guy went outside the organization to get a very expensive promo piece done -- full color, very heavy stock . . . and had it designed a non-standard size
ro 8, please?
he ended up having to mail the promos FIRST CLASS -- 5000 of them
i could go on and on . . .
ouch
ro8 - x-ray dose measurment

Hi Luwanda! Very nice break :)
hey, luwanda :-)
Une ... was that due to new management?
plus I rewrote lots of text that I wasn't "required" to . . . oh, well
some of it was new management, yes
i like when I can babble a bit off and on all day!
I believe it. I had a job like that. Their loss though. That job, they had to hire 3 people to do the jobs I'd been doing. Cost them a bundle.
exactly . . . my high-level multitasking was not appreciated! LOL
I have found that some of the younger upper level management dismiss the experience/input of what they view as traditional/stodgy approach.
Need a break. bbl

ok pups need to pee -- BRB
It's sad what people do to get their own way ... rather than attempt to reach a consensus or understanding.
that's awful kc!
Well, I've learned one thing, management can get away with murder, because the ones they go to never look below them at the people, they just believe what they're told. Amazing how much incompetence can hide in plain sight.

No more circus acts for a bit
Her fracture his in her fibula - just below the knee
Poor thing!

the main issue is that both legs have an issue - so it's hard for her to get around
geez, she sure knows how to get out of doing the housework! lol
Not as bad as tibia
Dawg!
But you kno what - she got on her crutches last night and slowly (with my help) went back to the scene of the crime.
She'll be out of commission for a bit.

I thought she was crazy - she even had a fall then - sideways and landed on her butt luckily
No planks!
Crutches SUCK! (Says one who spent more than a month wheelchair bound nearly 2 years ago)
oh geez, Lickety! you're going to have to tie her down in that chair!
All of Babbleland sends good karma and prayers.
Thanks for the chat everyone - I gotta get to the daily duties - I'm so lucky I got Retrenched a few weeks agao - otherwise I'd be under much stress.,
i think Mrp will be making Lickety walk the planks!
tc lickety and tell mrp not to rush it
love to you and the family, Lickety. Tell Mrp, I'm laughing at her!
thanks cross - I'm trying
Bye Lickety!

It's the adjectival form of the er5.12 before it.
I was going to say that I put today's stats in my profile and on BabAnon yesterday morning (UK time) but I see Lickety's list is up now anyway. Has anyone heard how MrP is getting on since her accident?
Hey there, Jacula. I didn't know about mrP's accident....recent eh?
Past week or so gap, yes.
Oh, my. Sorry to hear about that. Thanks, Jacula.
Gap - she's broken her left fibula (calf bone) and her right ankle + ligament damage to that. She fell off a wobbly plank to the chicken house when she was startled by a flapping chicken whilst trying to get them in for the night and out of the trees.
Poor girl. Will send prayers and energy to her.
gap - I'm sure she will appreciate that.
PB for me because I typed an ni5 word in that account.

May I please have a clue for ro6-21? Thanks.
NM...just found it.
You've 'done a Peri' Gap.
Oh, does she do that a lot?
She used, but not so much now. However, once you 'do it', you're stuck with it here. LOL
For instance, I'm stuck with being the Queen of Non Political Correctness because I will insist on calling Native Americans (if that is still the 'PC' term now) Red Injuns.
Thing is, I was always on their side in the old films anyway!
Yes, I know what you mean.
Well, we're a pair then, gap.
Yes, we are.
*me here at last on the ground, you in mid air*
dcs - LOL.
Thanks, dcseain....I'll be humming it for the night.
Er, just looked at your profile again dcs. What the heck are 'breakfast links'?
Who did that, dc? Was it Ole Blue Eyes?
such a lovely song :)
Send in the Clows is much-covored, originally by Glynnis Johns
Oh, yes.
Send in the Clowns, is a lovely song.
or5-12 please....thanks
or5.12 = or + first 3 letters of the place you go to see films at - **ema.
Failing that clue working, Google C7H8O2
Thanks much, Jacula.
y/w Gap.
dcs - still awaiting your reply about the breakfast thing.
breakfast thing? huh?
I make sausage rolls for my Beloved to take to work. He wants me to make him a bacon, egg, baked beans pastry wrap next. I can do that. But, dcs, what was the breakfast links ingredient in your recipe?
standard small link sausage that are sold as 'breakfast links' here.
In your recipe on your profile, dcs, you appartently need 2lbs of them to make it.
hi6-24 please......thanks....I'm dragging
OH! *Light dawns* What we call 'cocktail sausages' her in UK. Little sausages about 1 inch long.
http://tinyurl.com/ycxpak7 like these
A standard sausage here in UK is about 3" long.
quite different from cocktail saasage here - those come in cans.
howdy peoples. Finally finished after reentering a word babble ate! Can you use italian sausage dc? Don't do the breakfast ones.
Oh! Those are not what we would call sausages in UK. They look more like Spanish chorizo.
much smaller than chorizo, and all linked
i can't eat italian sausage. you need small, fatty sausages for it, or add fat, as with the veggie ones.
Spicy sausages, I think?
believe me, here, they are fatty!
not at all spicy.
spiced, but not piquant at all.
I must go now, I have Italian meatballs to make ready for dinner tonight.
they have sage usually don't they?
hiya.
*shrug* no clue, but probably based on taste.
