Jillibus - pretty fish. Many years ago, when DD was young, we bought four little goldfish for $1. (total - they were from the 'feeder' tank). Two lived for about eight years, grew to be about seven inches. A friend told us they were koi - who knows, we just thought they were the prettiest fish on earth.
Yay -- got all the Ys.
me too
wtg jilli
Lucky purchase, Christine! I read that koi are a variety of goldfish.
missing 2 th words
And that's it for me -- 32 left for tomorrow.
They would've cost much more than 25cents, if we'd purchased them as koi. Anyway, even as goldfish we thought them special.
I am too -- th 5 and 6
wtg Jilli, sweet sleep

*hugs* flosey, ruru
it feels great, i have been working on it for more than 6 months

film studies
What's the topic?
ah, interesting
i'm writing on science fiction films and how they can be more effective
sounds great
i loved hte topic when i started, and never want to talk about it again now that i'm nearly done
How interesting josh, I did a Film Studies A level and my mini thesis was on Fritz Lang. Morning/evening all.
lol I bet. Can we read it when you are finished?
morning FM :)
hi FM
maybe one day, sprite, but i'm not anxious for other people to read it yet
Hi there spritey sprite et al.
Once you get a little distance from it, you'll be engaged with it again, I bet.
I hope so josh, it is a very interesting topic. But I totally understand.
So is northern Europe still a no-fly zone?
i look forward to it, it's been an everyday job for too long now
Fraid so jan, aparently up to 20 countries are affected now.
No flights out of Heatrow since last Thursday and probably not until the end of this week!
wow, that is pretty serious
not to mention all the other UK airports.
there is only one good thing about the volcano blowing
How awful! So many people must be stuck places they don't want to be and unable to get to the places they need to be. I've just booked a flight to the UK for July and I usually don't bother with trip insurance. But I got it this time.
smart move jan
and that is, ruru?
the french have cut back on their cigarettes in outdoor cafes for now...
Why would that be? Curious...
*giggles*
Ferries and EuroStar are making a fortune as they are all full booked.
What is the grid like today?
just started, so far so good
maybe one other thing too
It's a gentle one. I'm down to 19 left without a list.
oh good that bodes well :)
does anyone have a clue for ec6 please?

An electronic menu in France?
LOL good clues

ruru, what other thing?
Bjork won't be able to leave the country for awhile..
ROFL

When Mount St Helens blew back in the 80's, there were gorgeous sunsets for weeks due to the ash inthe air.
yeah and nylons on everyone's carburators
BRB going to change icon.
yup, ashes in the atmosphere are great for sunsets.
goes to show that every cloud has a ruby lining

ah ok, gratz josh
They are a beautiful breed sprite. Congrats josh.
the date
oh...
(looks in mirror.. boy you are slow tonight ruru)
see, i make very profound jokes
We don't want any more fireworks in Iceland as there is a bigger volcan that might be set off by the one that is doing its thing now :(
(must be college humor)
sometimes you're too busy having your mind blown to laugh
or that's what i tell myself anyways
volcano races?
*groan*
I always knew the Volcans were up to no good. Too darn smart.
sure .. just ask Spock
oh.. sorry those were Vulcans..
I'll have you know that it is due to my typos that I manage to finish so many grids!
lolllllllllll FM too true! Goes for me as well.
Time for breakfast, back in a while.
bye Fm, enjoy
your puppy has a gorgeous face sprite and a nice head
I think fo4ch4 should be a valid babble word. The chog is full of that all the time.

I need more coffee! Is there some in the PB? After a peaceful weekend, DH has starteed being nasty again!
I'm all shaky
tell him to take a hike. And yes, fresh coffee in the PB, fresh bread as well.
ooh, I'll bring the home-made jam
see, life can be so good
The dictionary says that 'odas' are rooms in a harem, yet this puzzle rejects them
how narrowminded of the puzzle, lawyer-1, and hi, good to see you.
I have all of these odas in my palace, yet the dictionary says they do not exist!
hi, sprite
we certainly had them in my harem! lol
we could fill volumes with the words enable rejects. But then again, other volumes with the words it insists are real words, while we disagree.
true, true
I wonder if the puzzle would also reject seraglio if the letters were there
nope, it would accept that
back in a tic
Hello everyone.
hello lynxx!
hello lyn *hug*
still a lovely photo Sprite even though he must be 4 times as big
oh yes he is, I just felt like a puppy pic. But he is still just as sweet.

Ruby I have put more images up on FB
I will look...
there is a you tube video of my son's last band in which the lead guitar died ladt week. Is anybody interested in the link? It's rock and roll and John is the pale one
the guy was JTWright and the band was ATX Solstice
I am do you know how to tiny url
no
ok put it in here now as it is and I will do it for you to save for later. I am too tired to explain
yooutube.com/watch?v=Cw7RN-ZsrFQ
does that make any sense?
that's you*
Yes but that is not right
it's a memorial video and you can see my son well at 3rd and 9th minutes]
www.youtube?
yes but the video number is wrong
maybe JTWright?
I'll try it again
I have to go deal with nasty DH!
http://tinyurl.com/yyqf299 Here my dear. I found it
then do I add the rest to it?
no if you wish to share the video this is the URL to use on Babble
I will fool around with it and try to do something
Ruby hun all you need to do is copy this URL and it is yours. Did you want me to FB message you?
Sorry, called away. Mr Williams Infernal?
Carl Williams
ooh CARL Williams. Yeah - appears to be no great loss, what goes round etc
Yet Channel 9 seems to feel the need to update what is on tv tonight and put a ''this was his life'' show.
how tasteless
yep. Apparently it is news. I had to deal with the smug git when I worked in the courts.
did everyone go away?
I'm still mucking around
I would like someone to do my homework fetch dinner and feed me and put me to bed
hello herin, are you still there? I had to deal with DH's sarcasm
Yes Ruby
if you'll deal with his sarcasm, I'll feed you, do your laundry etc.
awww. Ruby my way of dealing with that is usually telling them zip it
Don't deal with it Ruby, take away his audience and leave the room
he is so mean-pirited. He was nice for my birthday, 80% of the time, but has reverted to the usual. For example, I had left a huge cauliflower outside on the deck in a cool spot because it wouldn't fit in the fridge. Then I forgot about it. Because I am afraid of worms, I asked him to throw it away for me and he had to make fun of me in a really nasty way!
I try to do that, but I was in the middle of doing something and couldn't do my usual fade away....
Ruby leave
tell him bugger off
it's not like I'm some simpering little flower; I'm the one who deals with spiders, snakes, bats, injured birds, etc.
No place to go, Herin, and it's my house....
I think I would be inviting him to leave as he is obviously unhappy with you. He doesn't do anything for you does he?
Well tell him out. Stick him in a nursing home. Sell up move back to USA be free. One of our darling older babblers recently became free
I've already asked him to leave but he is pretty old (84) and we don't have enough money for him to buy another place. He does all the grocery shopping, lawn and garbage duty.
OK then tell him that you will not be cooking or looking after him anymore unless he can be civil - and that you will be spending all your time in the studio/downstairs
I think you're right in principle, Herin, and if I was younger and had more energy AND didn't love this place so much, I would sell out and leave. But I like it here much better than the US!
You can speak to Social Services the local counsels there is help
you are right, Lynxx, that's what I said this AM. Now he is trying to be nice; now that I'm thoroughly upset.... thank God for my babble friends who listen when I rant....
And I am not saying that you don't care about him but there is services that can help.
OK, my friends, I will stop whining and look at my tulips and my pups!
be strong Ruby, you are much younger and fitter than he - you will win this battle and the war if you can keep strong
that what my sister (in NY) says, that Ishould just stick it out and outlive him!
now -- back to the url! I am scrolling down to poor, patient Herin's instructions.....
Ruby I will bring it up
you gals are wonderful! You can't imagine how much I appreciate your words!
Ruby: http://tinyurl.com/y78qbxa it is not the same Tiny as before but here you go
although I have friends here, they are French-speaking and it is much more formal
I am glad you have made friends Ruby. You should go visiting a lot - and leave HIM alone
www.http::tinyurl.com/y88qbxa/youtube. com/watch?v=Cw7RN-ZsrFQ
my son, JohnReedKelley, also is on my/space.com
myspace.com
Ruby hun this is your video. http://tinyurl.com/y78qbxa that is ll you need
and he is a computer expert -- ironic, isn't it. He's a musician; I'm (was) an artist; he's computer-adept; I'm useless lol
One you are not useless. DOn't make me tell you off
go ahead, I deserve it! DH just called me from his study upstairs to tell me that he had heard the cuckoo. He is trying to be nice now, but cann't bring himself to apologize....
I've only seen the cuckoo once, but he must have a nest in the field above the house
our bird life is lovely, not spectacular like in Australia, but very interesting to me, nonetheless, because it's all different from places I've lived in the US
and since the house is surrounded by heges, lots of shrubbery and trees, there are many many nests this year; at dusk it's wonderfully noisy!
rat ch
is that a well-dressed trodent? ch**?
that was hedges* and rodent* -- poopy typing this AM
or cute outfits with tails and round ears?
Ok what is with girls singing in an American accent when they are Australian
Hi Mari
do they wear their pants low, too?
no
the ones who amaze me with their American accents in films are Cate Blanchett and Nicole Kidman. They do the accents perfectly!
she is a cute little 12 year old very good but seriously groan
that's really too bad because Australian accents are charming. BTW, Nicole Kidman/Hugh Jackman's epic Australia is on this coming Saturday. Is it gorgeous?
Good morning/evening all. Are there regional Australian accents?
Don't know haven't seen it not into Romancy stuff
I'll watch anything, as long as it's in English. Not a lot of choices on French TV, even with a satllite!
hah, I just remembered an ec4/6 babblet *proud of myself*
also an ea4/5 one. I guess I'm learning
HI HAz. Yes there are Haz.
now if I could get fireworks more than once every two months, I'd be happy
hello haz!
Hi Haz. Queensland and South Australian accents are different from the rest of us I think. SA can be very "English" and Qld very very slow with a higher inflection at the end of sentences
poor herin has been listening to me whine for an hour, but no more
it is such a huge country, I'm not surprised. Even tiny France has strong reginal accents
Hello! I remember reading somewhere that the accent didn't differ much, but I didn't quite believe it. Here, accent can change within 30 miles.
In England, it's also largely a class thing, right? It surely is in France.
In the US, it's mostly regional, but very definite and recognizable
Haz for instance Top North Queensland natives really do talk like Steve Irwin.
and southern women often demean themselves with their accents, pronouncing one-syllable words with three
everything up there is soooo slow.
like in the American south
It's a class thing to a certain extent, ruby, not just in England but all over the British Isles. You tend to judge someone by their accent to an extent, but it's probably less prevalent than it used to be. There's a bit of dumbing down going on!
I sound like my sisters even though i am adopted I sound alike to them but more English
demean? - I love the US southern accents - especially on guys
I lived in a small city in upstate NY with its very own accent: merry, Mary and marry all sounded exactly the same. We called it the Binghamton speech test!
it's better on guys; the women tend to try to sound stupid to make the men puff up
o dear someone I know needs an assignment Do I help or not
hard or easy?
are you feeling charitable or have you used up your orning quotient?
not charitable
considering mine was 12 pages long
ooph!
Well yer so not really
you are thinking about giving them an entire assignment?
Lying my butt off saying I screwed the whole thing. Heck no Lynxx trying to dig myself out of it
how about giving a VERY slim outline or meager suggestions....
I think your white lies are in order
BBS
Well see if I give a slim outline it is giving the answers as it is one of those you should read the book kind of thing. And I am trying not to stuff my life up on my own
right fibbed my arse off
then just day no! Or tell her to buy a "classic comic" or cliff notes
good for you!
say*
Ruby it is one of those things that if I give slim outline to I may as well write it for you. SIgh
don't do it then
It is a CL essay.
CL?
sorry Contract Law.
Forgot what head space I was in
definitely over my head!
didn't do it.
good!
I know. I said I screwed the essay. Cheating can get you expelled and I don't trust that she wouldn't verbatim it.
Let's face it, if you do the work for others, you're not doing them any favours in the end. If they don't know the information themselves, what's the point other than to get them out of trouble short term?
Exactly Haz. I told her to use Google Books as it is a legitimate source for books and she did the huh what is that'' shhes
There is certain people I tell or show essay work to. Those that I know wont screw me in the end.
imagine if she used yours verbatim! that would be awful!
Besides it is how you write the essay and how you think because it is law it isn't 1 plus 1 equals 2.
brb food needed
and if she can't do it, maybe she's chosen the wrong field
if you could stand a spicy chicken salad, I have plenty!
or a ham sandwich!
I remember one glorious occasion in first form Latin. The Latin teacher picked up the homework books and gave out the girls' books. He then picked up one book, named the boy and asked 'Who did you get your homework from?' The boy confesses it was another boy. The next boy was asked and so it went on. One boy had done the homework, the rest had copied it. The teacher thundered for ages about how he was not stupid!
there are funny farm-noise words in this grid
All the girls felt Ata-like smug....
great story, haz!
co5/16, so5/14
old mac donald. etc.
Okay, time to get some housework done - the weather's dry so the laundry can be hung outside. Back later, enjoy the day!
see you later, az
Why isn't chee a word, didn't anyone ever read Caps for Sale?
hiya and bye michnick. Leaving to make lunch with 116 words done. Why isn't odas a word, either?
Hi & bye ruby? Odas?
harems rooms
Ah. I can never figure out why some words get in & others don't
Haz that sounds like my class
HI Mich Bye Ruby

morning Babblers. I have read caps for sale michnik!
Hi Red
Remember how the monkeys 'spoke', didn't they say chee chee?
True
I think they did, but I guess if its is monkey language it isnt in there....although lots of foreign money is.
Oh well. if I had to choose I guess i'd rather have money than monkey language....
I like money.
Nice understatement,red.
which is why I am awake at this ridiculous hour.
Money mmm what is that
chest
Yikes! Sorry (now going to see if there is fresh coffee in the Penalty Box
its ok Mich, I had it already... possible herin did too and any one else.
Good, glad I got that off my ch5!
Had that but tired of the phantoms
yes cheese is the one.
Exactly, I have been chasing cheese around all day

O joy. All flights from Aus to Europe are grounded till Thursday.
My son is stuck in NY, he was supposed to fly to ROme today to visit my sister & sight see. Luckily he got onto a direct flight to Israel on Tuesday night.
Sheesh, I did it again. And the coffee in the PB is COLD
He is lucky.
well, herin, were you planning on flying to Europe this week?
TY Mich, I needed that one.
Yeh, I'm glad he'll be getting home with only a 2 day delay. He is going to be a whole week late for the start of his semester - and he's been away over 5 weeks already! I miss my boy!
be nice to have him home.
No Red But it is still news worthy
Well, he has to fly right off to start Yeshiva again, but he'll be close by and will come back home for the weekend.
I don't mean fly literally.
he has to move with alacrity off to yeshiva.
Good red, that's it.
ok, have to go to work. Mondays are not the best days, so I hope it works out in the end!
Good luck with work red.
It is Memorial Day here and tomorrow is Independence Day. Everyone is in slow, almost holiday mode, with the somber tone of the day moving into the euphoria tonight.
Don't know who's still here, but I'll be back later. Off to make coffee & check on lunch.
Good morning to all.
Just me and the lurkers?
sorry - yes just lurking. morning scrabbler
How is it across the pond, Chris?
another beautiful day. have been out in the garden, but am just relaxing before I have to get ready for work
I have not begun gardening yet. We cannot plant annuals + veggies until the end of May here. My perennials are coming up.
when I say gardening - for me it's mowing grass and pruning! we've rather let some of the plants get out of hand and now is a big job to get it under control. however, I can't remember having such good weather so early before
good morning everyone;0
morning cross
Hi Crossy

Morning all--was overcome with Crossy's message and blurted. that IS my plan for the day: the desk and its unpleasant surround
However, I appear to be here. TECHNICALLY at my desk
the weather has come so nice so fast all the boats are out for the season..problem is the water is still only 6c..brr
lol,thats my problem jay..technically lol
see jay,ask scrabbs, she has the right idea.i know she has a little acer netbook and can babble far away from her desk lol
she probably hides in the sample room;)
i have one too; mine's a toshiba
I am using my little Acer netbook.
and are you hiding in the sample room?
i love them free samples you docs give out sometimes, maybe 2 or 3 pills in a little sample blister pack.they work..then you write a full scrip..then we find out they are 88 dollars a pill lol
pills..by yyves St lauren...lol
I like giving out samples.
i like samples too..lots of them so i do not have to get a full scrip;)
they laid this sample for migraines on the wife,2 tiny little pills in a sample box..to be taken when you think you are getting a migraine....67 dollars a pill!
asked the wife to mayby consider a lobotomy instead lol
Probably Relpax.
whatever it is it may as well be gold plated rabbit turds lol\
I have plenty of those.
good, can you mail me 100 scwabby? lol
even the gold-plated version?
Hi Atalante1
wife gets roughly 2 migraines a month that last 2 weeks each lol
howdy ata:0
and hi :D
been a long haul scrabby, but our doc appt is this friday..finally
Good luck to Miss Elegant!
and to me,this snoring and choking at night has to stop..almost feels like my throat is closing with a flap of skin or something
but enough of my whining..lets babble!
did you check out the dental appliances crossy?
i will starrt with the doc and go from there esprit and i will mention that
Maybe you need to be scoped.
acck!
don't know if they are still pushing laser surgery on the throat, but I have not heard good things about that
i do not think i need a polyp scraping for my apnea scdwabby!
Hi Jean
they scope OTHER places crossy LOL but you will probably need another sleep study
hi scrabs
im sure you are right esprit
Yikes, I must get ready for work.
hagd scrabby, and do not forget those samples;)
have fun, scrabs!
i have only tried to imput "cheese' 200 times now lol
mmmmm cheese
the grid is lactose intolerant
lol ata,ill whip you up my famouse western omelette with cheddar
sounds damn good to me!
doc asked me how many times i eat eggs in a week and i told him just 8 days a week;))
make a large serving!
reminds me,i still have some apple wood smoked bacom in da fridge...
reminds me that I have some of sister's chickens' eggs to eat up. they are such good eggs
nothing like fresh eggles
i buy mine a flat at a time from the egg farm up the road
I always attempt to made egg mayonnaise, and end up just hard boiling them and dipping the whole egg in mayonnaise and eating it warm
well up the road=30 min away but not too far lol
lol ata
worth it for Good eggs
phantom sachet
yesterday i did my secret french toast, you use texas toast and make sure it is nice and soft when you soak it,,,if you do it right, each slice will soak up an entire egg;))
now I want eggs
then you cook it on med-high and it will swell up like a phone book ;)
lol,we all want eggs ata,so sense resisting
it's almost lunchtime ...
i keep a jar of mustard, half a jar of pickles,milk,3 pounds of bacon, veggies, and about 100 eggs in my fridge at all times lol
that and a bag of taters and im good to go at a moments notice lol
going to Crossies house
you missed out the essential cheese
hi herin!
yes,my block of 6 yeaR old white cheddar
howdy herin
hi
cheese is important
being asleep is better
the older and higher the quality of cheese, the less likely it goes bad quickly..ive been chsling off of this block for 4 weeks now;))
being asleep with cheese is best:)
Random fact Cheese makes me sleep talk
i don't think I can eat cheese again, Crossy may have slept with it!
lol,i speak more in my sleep than i do awake
lol lynxx
well if im doing westerns, ill get out the special omelette pan..
My friends kid went to the fridge and started licking the side of it when she wasn't looking. dang grotty kid
lol,my cat licks the side of the fridge lol
weird
and the heat registers
My cat sits on my head.
then you will not need a heat to keep your head warm herin
Ata thank you for my procrastination this AM
i like prcrastination...ill get around to it later
I used to wear a hat to bed in my old house as it was freeking cold.
See babble = procrastination = not doing stupid homework that is peeing me right off as I feel so stupid
quite reasonable that Infernal
lol fun, wasn't it!
morning Ata & Hobbit & Sily
I wrote a post on facebook last night saying "I'm bored. Entertain me with random trivia". The thread is now 62 comments long and we all learnt random useless facts!
Ata I did think of another random fact today but I forgot.
*glee* I just changed my icon. Have a look :D
random fact: did you know you can burn 76 calories per hour by banging your head on a desk?
and it fees so good when you stop
Really I need to do that
Ata what did you do to your wrist?
which herin,stopping or starting? lol
got bitten by a friend's dog
Both. My darling friend is being a sweet heart and helpnig me
i cannot do it anymore as i broke the corner of my desk;((
O Ata that looks bad
Stew is too smart, will ignore me sitting in the lounge and go and scratch on my daughter's door for her to go let him out. And I didn't even train him to do that. Good boy!
what a clever boy!!
it's getting better now finally. yay!
yaa for ata!
Brilliant Lynxx.
Cross would a wall work too?
just for that you get extra bacon
yes,a wall is good as well, but do it at a wall stud so you do not put a hole in the wall
Nah I have brick walls no studs in this ouse
brick is even better!
brilliant
oops - careful yr boyfriend doesn't read that Infernal
take one brich and paint it a soothing colour right at the target point
brick
perhaps a sky blue
Grin Lynxx. He is out and he knows that he is my stud
Cross my last house had a blue bedroom
I am so over these pathetic attempts of Christine Nixon bashing. If she was a guy it would not happen. I don't know why we have this tall poppy syndrome in Australia
(ignore me unless you are in Victoria)
tell us the story!
then we can be outraged with you
Lynxx. I like how the whole bush fires was a complete CF and yet it is the Police Coms fault because she left her post and did a couple of things when there was no communication
Christine Nixon, heavier (ie not attractive, what a sin!) smart woman made head of Police in Victoria - cleaned it up a lot (made a heap of enemies in the police force - corrupt types) made the mistake of having dinner out with husband and 2 friends on the night of Black Saturday last year. She left control of the joint emergency forces with her 2IC.
not the cleverest thing to do, but still!
Ata it was a minor ''sin'' compared to the ''Hey No worries what fire '' communication or lack of
Agreed, but it's a beat-up. For goodness sake, over a year ago. the woman has done an amazing job as head of the Reconstruction Authority (when in fact she was going to retire after her Police Commissioners time was over). We have this terrible need to find fault with our successful people
Lynxx Reggi D just ''binned'' that argument on TV
mmm, trying something different here , using those big middle pieces of light rye bread toasting them under the broiler with a light garlic, butter then laying the western omelette on top and serving it open face:0
we really do
what IS a broiler?
It is like Peter Garrett and the insulation Fubar.
we had the same thing here ladies,we had a police chief her name of jullian fantino,he was the best, they made life hell so he moved on,now they are begging him to run for mayer lol
a broiler is a oven element for fast toasting or browning
i used it cause those rye bread slices are too big for the toaster
I need to make some eggs. brb
oh crossy.....***drooling*** good morning all
lol,i got to ata;))
howdy mnh
nothing to do with water then? I thought it was connected with boiling. We call that a griller here
that is a steam broiler
hi Mom
the one with water used in buffets
it would be akin to your griller then
and we call those Bain Marie's
Lynxx add OF DEATH :D
(which is weird why we use a french term and you don't)
They are a wierd lot over the pond aren't they lynxxx *grin*
Afternoon/morning :)
well,we do have a grille, but it is something different again
Bain Marie of Death?!

FM, what a beautiful cat in your icon. Yours?
I wish! It is a Norwegian Forest cat, they are huge. am following todays theme of pet Monday.
Was inspired to change my icon this a.m after seeing sprite pic of Terra.
It's a beauty. I had 2 cats at different times. They were domestic shorthair and had their own special beauty.
ditto here. wish I could have a cat and dog now but can't. How are things with you?
Everything is peaceful here. Why cant you have a cat or dog?
What the weather like where you all are?

bye mom
and I have a science question for you, ata: what is more than an inch long, furry, yellow, black and white and buzzes like a b52? I saw it's a bee and Mr. Nasty says it's a hornet!
say*
ummmmm lol. that size could suggest a hornet I guess, but I really don't know much about 'em! Or about bees lol
a bee will sting once and dies a hornet will sting many times get it to sting mr nasty and find out lol
ok, I'll google it while I google bella
it was beautiful
I was able to rescue it as it was trapped in the dining room
more than an inch long with those colours is probably not a bee
even though it's fuzzy?
lunch time ... **sets table, toast, croissants, chicken salad, tea**
Huzzah! Firetwerps!
a bee has a barbed tail and pulls its own guts out after one sting a wasp or hornet has a smooth stinger

peameal is a lean bacon log usually bought in one or 2 pound chunks that is rolled in peameal, sliced thing and fried
thin
almost no fat
but smoked and cured a lot like standard streaky fat style bacon slices
its what americans will often call "canadian bacon"
Hey ruby - I think your bee might be a carpenter bee. Google a pic. Otherwise, the only other one I know that has white on it, is a bald face hornet.
bacon, hmmm
yay, it's a bee! I got google France but there was a picture of a similar one

I'm amazed! Kiddies books from the 60s. Wonderful stories.
but, but, but.... it was WORK'S fault!!
you're welcome Shirlockc
Will have to google him and the books Ata Hey EvaN!
oh Eva, it is ALWAYS someone or something else's fault. LOL
and yes, you CERTAINLY should read them!
i feel very accomplished today -- i managed to break an application i wasnt even testing! :)
OK OK will do!
excellent Eva
I can lend you my set - you'd love them. Only little kids books, but very Tolkien-y
What did you make of Dr Who on Saturday?
i have a interesting hardcover i found called 'how to win friends and influence people" by Dale Canigie" written in 1936..i figure if i cannot win friends with it,at least i can hit them over the head with it lol
Oh that would be great Ata, much appreciated.
that is a wonderful book Crossy
carnigie
haven't seen it yet lalalalalalala don't say anything!
well folks, lunch is over .... time to start the ironing. :-) {{Hugs}} to all of you
ironing...ewww.if i cannot wash and wear it,it is not brought into the house lol
crossy - know that book well, did a course and then went back as a trainer for another ourse. Did help me muchly with my work at the time and I still apply some of his principals.
I love to iron
(come to our house MOm.. we'lll keep you busy)
it will take be a while to get there, Ruru, would have to drive
we can fly you out
I still use his stacking/memory technique for names or shopping or whatever.
mom,you love to fold and put clothes away as well? if so common over;0
I do, Crossy
the hem of my pants today could really use a good ironing. dear fiance has been doing the laundry, but he has a tendency to let things sit in the dryer, where they become rather wrinkly... alas, i didnt notice the hem until i was already here at work...
Downy makes a wrinkle reducer spray. packed that with son when he went away to college
lol eva,the way i do laundry is one step up from banging them on a rock and using the old sunlight soap bar lol
what's i - i - ironing?
yes, i still keep some of that around for the lightly-wrinkled items that i dont feel like ironing. i think this fabric needs actual heat. heh
may try wetting them in the loo + seeing if the hem dries better...
*passes smelling slats to Ata* an unknown teritory for her.
as unknown a territory as typing is for you?
oh Crossy, I loved it when we had a wringer washer.
*salt rather than slat* but maybe slats would be a good idea?
ata.. what is this i-i-i-roon thing they keep talking bout?
mom still has it but doesn't use it any longer
I don't know, crossy. I'm worried.
i found this metal thing with a handle in the bathroom once,i use it as a door stop
A's annihilate
well off I go. {{Hugs}} to all of you.
Haz and Jacula love to do the i thing - so just tap into their energy.
lol Crossy
tc mom
why was it in the bathroom??
you as well Crossy
surely we can barter skills to get things done that we dont want to do ourselves?
he wanted to straighten his hair Ata
*has the normal english horror of electrical things in bathrooms*
ok,im offering a full bathroom, kitchen leaky tap fix for someone to wash and dry 3 loads of clothes and put away 12 loads clean clothesof
lol
Don't all rush at once.
I will trade you that for a total dig over in the garden (small) and de spidering the shed.
Form an orderly queue.
lol the britt hydro is one step above frankensteins lab lol
Evening Haz :)
Haz! La Glitterataspaghettina!
annd that funny 230v system
Hello!
Shall we add a tiara to that Ata?
why not
:)
240v even!
Is our nice electrical system being criticised? Should I be getting indignant?
Haz, have *you* read Alan Garner's childrens books? Weirdstone of Brisingamen, Elidor etc. If Mum read them to me ...
Haz did you listen to the BBC this am. *sheesh*
No, I must confess that I haven't. Does that make me deprived?
What happened to the BBC? Obviously I'm out of the loop.
you're both hopeless!!
Ata if you had said Wierdstone and Eliador earlier I would have got it as i still have my school book copies of those!
It's only me that's hopeless!
*rolls eyes* I KNEW you'd have read them!!
Haz - was just interesting to hear the point of view of the NI people re the election.
Odd that Enable is ok with pinot but not syrah...
well, Haz, you should read them :P
Oh - what did they say? 'Not another blessed election'?
enable has a very dicerning palate
What? Cote Roti isn;t good enough?
The impression is that they are not that interested as the parliament that affects them is in NI rather than in England. But it might be interesting come a hung parliament if that happens.
afternoon everyone
i'm not saying i agree jan
Hi Katie Back in a bit as food is cooking.
That would sound about right, FM. We do tend to feel a bit distant from all the political stuff in Westminster especially since up until now we can't vote for the normal parties - things are beginning to change a bit now, but we're a bit overloaded with democracy sometimes.
hi katie!
Hello, Katie!
the only thing consistant about enable is his inconsistancy
what a lovely welcome :-) My laptop is broken so having a quick babble before hubby gets home
anyone have the ce 6?
Did you throw the laptop in a fit of pique after discovering that you can't fly away somewhere exotic in the next week?
I'm going to the Scillies on Saturday :) By boat.
ce6 - It looks like a plural word. Or 'those' in Spanish (masc pl)
C plus those, that should be.
Just waiting for the kitchen timer to go off Why are you going to the Scillies Ata?
How long will you be away, Ata?
muchas gracias senora
De nada, senor.
I am still trying to be optimistic about next weeks exotic estination, might even do some packing later lol, BinL did a reinstall of vista using a disk he had which turned out not to be an authorised copy so now we have to buy another one. Honestly I wish we hadn't bothered in the first place.
2 weeks! Because it's nice there.
Bin Laden fixes your computers?
Fireworks!
Well done, herekit.
it feels like it ata, it REALLY feels like it!
congrats herekitty
yay kitty!
Katie has the special Taliban model
So, the moral of the story is, don't let Bin Laden fix your computers with a dodgy disc.
I think Alex needs to be advised to hide in a cave if I get hold of hime!!
Windows Talivista
lmao
*him
really, D wanted to go on holiday so I chose somewhere I love before he could choose somewhere odd
and before he could invite the evil one? LOL
he doesn't like her any more. LMAO
At least you can be sure of getting there. Unless Alex Bin Laden gets to hear of it and sabotages the ferry.
good idea to get in first I always think, although hubby and I generally want the same sort of holiday anyway. We have the one week and then the August one booked and know what we are doing for the two next year, we like to work in advance lol
This is all Icelandic volcano permitting? The joy merchants are saying it could keep going for years.
did want to go on the helicopter (which I'm guessing might still be ok as it only flies at a few thousand feet) but they load up everyone while the rotors are going - it's noisy and loud and scary and I don't think Hobbit would like it
Plug her ears and put on her sleeping mask, Ata....
I am taking the ignore it and it will go away approach peppered with panic like mad to the volcano issue.
so we're going on the boat. D will have to look after the dog while I sit outside looking green
Which continent are the Beckhams currently inhabiting?
according to Heat last week they were in the UK, but who knows
*such a mind of useful information*
heat?
Of all the luck! There I was thinking they could be marooned in the States for the foreseeable future.
a tacky celeb magazine over here
'Heat' - a very serious magazine with intellectual articles. The best people read it.
scoop last week was that he wanted them all to come back for good :-)
Jordan loves it
ran an advert that the more intelligent you were the higher your need for gossip - worked for me lol
They really hate her, every week there is a demolition story about her, I assume she doesn't re** it
ok, Peter Andre loves it. Maybe?
Ata, why are you wearing a pink feather thing in your photo?
1920s party!
Yep Heat is def team Andre, he gives them loads of interviews to keep it that way
what's with the hand wraps?
phew I thought we would need to consider sectioning
Did you Charleston?
actually, yes!
Hooray!
Katie just been talking to Kim it looks as though the midlands airports are opening tomorrow so it looks as though they are ok to fly on Thursday
Remember 'The House of Eliot'? I loved the fashions in that show.
it was an amazing party. about 1000 people there, of which about 950 must have been in full 1920s gear
it was held in Anthony Blunt's old London townhouse!
I know I phoned her to let her know as it came on sky news when i was working from home. I hope to goodness she gets away, no-one needs the stress she has been through just to get on holiday
Had the other 50 not read their invitations properly or were they just spoilsports?
spoilsports!
clue for the ha 5/14 - first one - please - blind today
It also means your mom can stop getting stressed as well lol
nm
got it
I know, I have been a little concerned myself lol, will now consider starting to pack/sort things out
*hopes someone with ask for a clue for the sc 6/24*
What a relief all round.. are you still coming over on Wednesday ???
sc 6/24 is to make a harsh remark (not gerund ending)
could I have a clue for the sc 6/24 please
Would anyone like a clue for sc6? I've just had a feeling that someone might like one.
*oh goody*
yep if that is OK. I am in Corby so might be about 8pm if that's ok
FIREWORKS
congrats norma
sc6/24 - most often seen in gerund/descriptive form. In that form, it's the sort of comment that might wound or hurt, be slightly sarcastic perhaps.
That would be fine just let us know xx
Thanks
Nothing like I would ever say. Not now that I'm all diplomatic.
tyvm
Or, add a male personal pronoun to the end of the s plus feline sc4/5
Haz lol ....
damn I already had it lol
You're welcome, ruru.
Will Gordon Brown claim the glory for the flights getting underway again?
didnt know it was a word without the gerund
nope getting the blame for stopping them I suspect. Nick Clegg will get the credit for starting them
hello friends. just grabbing a quick babble between studetns
katie's right
are they squashing you trif?
Hello, Trif.

is that what the kids are calling it these days, katie? ha ha ha
See you later, Katie. My regards to Bin Lid.
we have his and hers computers here.
Ah, America, the land of opportunity for all.
quick update from earlier chat: the spanish club from norwell high school never did get to go on the april vacation trip to spain. All 38 students are out the money, too, as the tour group will not refund in cases of acts of god....
It's been a time of disappointment for so many. Lots of people are trapped abroad trying to get home.
at least a lot of oinsurance companies aren't treating it as an act of god
hmm. yes. we have two pepple from our church stuck overseas, one in Rome, and one in Moscow. Think I might prefer rome...
people, even, sorry
has anyone got a clue for the 1st ha 5-14 please i have been looking for about an hour!!
hacts
hello sandrafrances - how many have you got??
170
It's an old fashioned way of using the verb to have. End in with the abbreviation for either a street or a saint.

back to work I go...take care all!
Bye, Trif.
not too bad still more to do but the back has given up together with the legs
has anyone got the ce 6-21?
ce6/21 - ce plus a plural letter, then foot digits without the e.
Or ce plus first three letters of the bird that brings the baby, finish with a plural letter.
I have the ce6/21
you are agreat help Haz thanks
You're welcome.
we love Haz
I don't have a pink boa, though. Does it match Hobbit's collar?
clue for he 7 pls
not really. her's is a more feminine baby pink
where did that ' come from? silly keyboard
measurement of land
Thank goodness you noticed. The diplomat was arguing with the grammar freak...
I wouldn't have mentioned it if you weren't here! I knew you'd be swooning
I had to grip the chair hard.
I swear my keyboard changes what my brain wants to type to what it feels like typing
Naughtly keyboard!
It must come from the same factory as FM's.
probably
Have I typed naughtly? It should be naughty. These keyboards are possessed!
Is the ash?
Is IT the ash?
they are! I swear they have minds of there own.
I tell you, bad things are happening.
it's the end times! catastrophe!
FM will start spelling properly soon!
you recon!!!!
you two are hilarious!
No chance.
(amended.. you three)
Hello, Dorens.
Hi Dorens
hi Dorens!!
I have a friend whose lifelong dream... going to Africa, seeing gorillas etc, is apparently jeopardized by the ash.... she was supposed to stop first in Heathrow ( on Friday).... how is it looking?
Friday might be ok
I can type fine if i really concentrate but usually excitement and babblemania takes over.
It's looking better, Dorens, some airports in the north are opening tomorrow.
they are muttering about Scotland airspace reopening tomorrow
ow! ata... your poor hand
how are you dorens??
Hooray for the north!
Not sure Dorens, HEathrow has been shut since last Thursday and no new yet as to when it mght open again.
Two minutes and I'll hopefully be back.
Two minutes to change into Arnie? That's impressive
ok, ata - i've been better
*hugs doren muchly*
oh Dorens whats up?
hi Dorens
ar
looks like i'm losing my job.(State cut aid to education). and my "boyfriend" just dumped me like last night's beer!
other than that, i'm just ducky
thanks ata... hugging you back
Oh Dorens, I am sorry about your job
on the bright side, i will certainly have more time to chat along with my babble.... with "him" not taking up my time in the evenings... and possibly no work at all next september!
geez Dorens how crappy is all of that!
I know we should probably all be encouraging you to be like Pollyanna and look on the bright side, but frankly, I always felt like giving Pollyanna a slap.
sorry to hear both bit of bad news.
LOL Haz.
*slapping pollyanna now that i have haz's go ahead*
Ditto Madame Bovary and many of Dickens' more soppy heroines. That Dora always annoyed me thoroughly.
So, it's rotten, Dorens, and I'm sorry that you've got such horrible things to deal with.
boobear. (and anyone else in the states lurking). Senator Harkins has introduced a bill in the Senate to bail out schools (like they did AIG, citibank, Ford, etc). please email your US Senators and have them vote for the bill! it is for all states, not just NJ and it would most definitely save MY job, and benefit lots of kids --if passed
ditto what Haz said, wish i could be more eloquent sometimes.
Oh, FM, we love you just the way you are!
you are all wonderful people. if i'm not working next year, i'm going to descend on Great Britain and Paris and will enjoy meeting up with you
*hugs doren more*
Hugs all round :))
Would it be the first Trans-Atlantic Babble meet?
I met up with hurshy ages ago
don't know, but I've always known I would do it someday
Oh, that's true. Bother, we can't contact the Guinness Book of Records.
Ahhhh .. Ata and Hurshy, now there's a good match.
Yes it would be after hurshy and Ata and Babbler but we might be graced with corssy this year too
I saw your note, Dorens and will certainly do
Is he coming to study bacon consumption in the UK?
thanks boo.... i forwarded an email about it last night to most of my addressbook (had easy links) and heard back from Michigan, Florida, Ct. Mass, California... all have done so. Just hope it gets some republican support
more like Crossy is coming to help you increase bacon consumption
I know. Pigs will be atremble when they hear the news.
Probably coming over to buy up most of the bacon market!
Oh, you'll appreciate two names, apparently bestowed recently on two babies. One will rejoice in the name of Pocahontas Murphy.
The other little girl is to be named Tamara. Fine, until you realise that her surname is Knight....
is this a baby in UK? pocahontas?
Good grief!
names can be sooo amusing
Yes, a UK child. Wouldn't you think somebody would have a discreet word with the parents?
Aparently not!
whoops... have to run and pretend that i am a much needed guidance counselor. lives depend on me.
Or just do the decent thing and refuse to register the name on the grounds of parental stupidity.
Go forth, Dorens, and guide!
Take care Dorens and be well.
will do. happy babbles!
Make sure your students know that calling their child Pocahontas is a nono..
Bye, Dorens!
or Princess Tiiammmaiiiaiaii
Time for dinner here so will poof too, adieu and Happy Babbling.
All conversations lead back to Jordan...
Bye FM!
bye Princess FM!
And time for me to go as well.
So, off I go. Bye for now - hope your hand continues to heal nicely, Ata.
*gone*
isn't an oscar a kind of fish?
a friend of mine works with a graphic designer named Hiawatha Smith :-)
I remember handling a claim for a customer years ago by the name of veranda porch
bye dear!
noooooooooooooooo
Hello before breakfast :)
hi jill - just finished up lunch myself
hey, jilli :-)
Just had to make the happy announcement that I now have Babble Expert on my new laptop :)
yay, jilli!
congrats - I still need to get that
and as you can see, I'm not used to the keyboard
what is the average amount of words a player gets per puzzle? Like 3 quarters of them or half???
We try to get them all, goldie!
I know. But what should a newbie shoot for?
I am eating lunch while playing babble
By hook or by crook, with the help of cluers and Lickety's list and morewords it's doable.
Goldie, just find as many as you can, the more you play, the more you will find
hello all
(hi all!) Goldie, that's the beauty of this game. So many are at different levels, and we all play to our best. When I first started, I was happy to get 1/4, then 1/2, then 3/4 before going to the list. For awhile I was obsessed with finishing every day. Then after a couple years, I let go and went back to just enjoying the game. I no longer care about finishing each day. Have fun!
As for the average-- who knows?
???Lickety's list ? morewords ?
ata? are you still there? I looked at Bella and she is really blonde, a lot like Ruby's coloring, but shorter hair
Hi ch1212
lickety's babble clues -- look below grid on this page
www.morewords.com
Hey boo. (I always think of Harper Lee's character Boo Radley when I write that ... :)
hi ch1212 I have finished 3 times but only because other babblers dragged me across the finish line! I've stopped looking at the rankings and just do the best I can!
lol
thank you ch1212 and anll
goldie, scroll down and under the grid and stats you'll see Lickety's Babble Clues. Right click and open in a new window. It gives the first 2 letters of each word and its point score.
That's good though, ruby. At one point I was up to #3 in the rankings, and that's when I realized I was playing for the wrong reasons. Now I'd bet my "ranking" has plummeted, but I don't care :)
an oscar is a kind of cichlid
hi jilli
Now I must have breakfast!
(I don't give a hoot about rankings)
bye jilli
Thank you. I found Lickety's list. Yay
hi goldie
Have fun, and again, welcome Goldie.
Hi Gang
I appreciate your help. :o)
welcome Goldie, it is a fun game and lots of nice people
hi boo, somebody could write a limerick about us -- boo, rubyfoo
hi peri
I did say hello earleir but was ignored :(
hego!!!!!
hi hego
Thank you again. Much appreciated. :o)
Ruby!!!!!
ty ruby
hey, peri :-)
Is it cocktail time yet Rubes?
nice day here but I am doing laundry
hey ruby ... did u see my fb message to you?
Hi Peri - and hello Goldie - nice to meet you
Hi Peri
it is so beautiful here! Every day more flowers open but there are some mystery tulips which I bought as pinkish rose (photo and all) and they seem to be coming up white and green :(
hi hego
Hi mnh
yes I did wildcat and I hope you had a wonderful birthday! My son John was in JTWright's band and you probably heard about that....
those would be pretty too ruby
Some body mixed up the bulbs Ruby
yes, mom, except all of the flowers in my garden, once the daffs finish, are shades of pink, rose, red, purple, salmon and blue
so you do need white and green
it sounds dull, but it's really very pretty, English garden via Martha Stewart!
tulips dont last very long
yes, it's true
sounds lovely, Ruby
just no yellow or orange
we have alot of pinks or similar shades too
I am vry happy with the garden even though I made a lot of mistakes when I planned it 12 years ago....
we have day lillys that are yellow but thats it and they are in the separate area
it's my first garden and it was all planned from books and magazines
gardens are a work in progress
thats what gardening is all about - moving things year after year - otherwise there wouldnt be anything to do but weed
bbl
oh yes, I forgot about those, they are orange and are in an area with two shades of purple pelargonium
would love to see pictures
ty ruby ... I hope yours was wonderful as well. I did not hear about your son
I put in some tiny evergreen shrubs the first year for winter interest and a couple of them became monstrous and had to be excised!
I think I have some in facebook but if your e-mail is in your profile, I'll send you a bunch
I think it is ...
i know what you mean- we pulled ours out years ago and stayed with only flowers or flowering shrubs
JTWright died mysteriously 10 days ago and he was the leader of John's band
oh no how sad
its not yet - I need to update that profile
so John is bandless but is coming to see his mom in May! yay
that part is good news
mom, your profile picture of the lilies is beautiful
Ruby that's great about the visit
hello everyone :)
hi nan
Hiya Nan
the only problem is that I have to go to a family party in London while he is here....makes life complicated. Nobody visits for 10 months and then everybody comes at once!
thanks = those are the just the wild tiger lillys- the other side of our house has lots of different day lillys. I will need to get pictures on as well.
Hi Nan
mom, are you in FB?
Always the way Ruby
not that I blame them for not wanting to visit in February and March.....
I am but dont have much there either - just started so I could keep in touch with my niece who is being sent to Iraq. I need to work on that too.
God, I hate c words!
dare
OOPS!
thats not a c word
uh. no
believe it or not, I missed that one, ty hego!
:o)
yw Rubes
that closed out the d's, only 53 words to go lol

Sorry to hear Sea.
I was afraid to have that, had the appt and everything, but backed out....
yw
oh no hego, everything turned out fine really
are you on a special diet now, sea?
I need to go for one of those tests too - they keep calling me - was it as easy as they say seaspray
missing an f -- have 4 x3 and 5 x2 -- any ideas?
That's great Sea. My hubby is having problems with that. And my son in law too.
no, they told me lots of fiber (hah! lots more for me) I live on fiber, think i should just start eating trees
you sound like me, sea, but I made a great discovery, PLUM JAM, much tastier than the dreaded prunes, especially reine claude which I eat with yoghurt
there are 4 4 letter f's
the test is nothing really, you don't even know it was done
another f4 cnan poss the f4.8?
have you got the f4.8?
ty -- should be able to monkey it then
got it

two fo4/8
good job nan
and I think the yoghurt may be good, too
i'm stuck on the first co 5/16 now. help please
yay, i passed halfway.
down to 50 -- time for the list
co5/16 rhymes with calling pigs
GG It's like the pig call word that starts with s
Lots of vowels
fireworks
think of a dove
YAAAYYY!!! Boo!
woohoo boo

OOOOO nice kitty FM.
Evening ruby

yes, but i can't have the plural of the so5, whereas i can for the other
yup
thats Enable for you gurnsey
that's funny, gg, I hadn't done the plural
can't believe I missed the Floridian hanging bits of paper
so 5 sounds like ph****
which one is that, cybernan?
No name for the woderful icon, t'is just my dream cat if I could have one.
she is beautiful! let's have a naming contest!
ch 4/7(s)
not Silverclaw? She's offended now
Dear Ata you know that Sily is #1
ch + **vertisement
*giggle*
ata: I looked at Bella, she is adorable but has a much shorter coat, although in a similar color, than Ruby
of course! they were famous over here as well. i was thinkign of wallpaper when you said that.
had it mom -- was answering guernsey
that's funny that your friend's dog is named Max, too
they are a similar colour! it's so beautiful!
it was a bee, ata, not a hornet, but I am just smiling, not even telling mr. nasty....taking *smug* from you
guess I wasnt paying attention - trying to actually work while watching the chog - not doing either well apparently
looool :D
My dog is named Max also
and you can see Bella's sweet personality from her face. I am very curious about those "mixed" chows
Max is my doggie nephews name
me too! never heard of a chow mix before
too funny, sea, your pretty white fellow. My max is so black he's scary-looking
emma wanted to say hi to you - another chow owner - would you mind if I messaged her and you together in fb? She doesn't know anyone else with chows and would love to have someone to chat to about them!
sure, you can give her my e-mail if your like or suggest her as a friend in FB
chow owners are as special a weird breed as their dogs!
ty! and I'll do the same with Jason - I want to hear more about his half-breeds too!
LOL nice one Ata!
it takes a lot of patience to have a dog who, when called, sits down, looks away and thinks, "she's kidding, right?"
ROFL
Bella's so funny. She doesn't like being all smoooshed and cuddled, and it's so funny to see how offended she looks when you try it
Have to go. bbl
Bye hego
oh oh oh I have to show you a pic - let me put in icon for a sec
miss stinky Ruby, contrary to that, can't get close enough, keeps getting different parts of her body against me
bye hego, see you tomorrow
bye hego
and I massage her for 30-45 minutes before bed every night
God I would love a halfhour massage before bed!
Rufus, our second chow only let me pet him sometimes and then would drool with pleasure
is the es 6-7 a combo and does anyone have a clue?
ever seen a half black, half brown chow, ruby? check my pic!
autistic Max is another story, but he's starting to like it, I think
nm -- found them
That one looks a lot like Ruby but after a partial mud bath. Is that just a shadow?
es + what you might sit on minus a vowel and pl.
nope, a partial mud bath!
ty anyway, mitch

when I traveled with my job, I would go through London and stay with my friend the weekends. I went to Brussels and SA from Miami, so it was necessary to go via London
that is a beautiful area, FM!

I was still a runner back then and used to run in Sunninghill in the early mornings

and change the first letter to get another word and pl.
yes, i entered the as5-6 with the es5-6

I like finding words that I can't find.
hi BR
Hello, jmc. Hope you are well and smiling
we were debating yesterday whether ru or you cause the most groans with your puns
i am well and smiling indeed
how are you? getting spring fever yet?
I have acquired some malady that I have been unable thus far to show to the door.
too bad! *makes BR a cup of tea*
tea cures everything i am told by my british friends
Thanks ... I was told I am doing penance for the penance that I was rather frivolous about ... so I am trying to be more penitential.
logging off for now bbl
Be well, jmbdobie
hmmm i never subscribed to that theory of illness myself
bye jmb
hello all

hey jmc! (((hugs))) we have a couple more babblers interested in the August meetup!

i am looking forward to it
and introducing you to les perse
*hides from les*
he's such a sweet person!
maybe, but ... *shrug* he's NOT a babbler! *sigh*
lol i am sure you know many people who are not babblers
I know a few... generally prefer the babblers though! rofl
i don't know all of the babblers on your list
mcurl lives near me, works in one of the rural school districts in a nearby county. vashongin lives on vashon island and babbles late at night usually
late at night your time? so when I sleep
yes, about 2 or three in the morning your time I think
she was on about ten my time last night
we were also wondering if you want to actually do the meetup in Olympia, or Seattle? decided you get to choose since you are coming the furthest.
wow. this is a fast grid. past halfway already
**Boy that Stid is a show off**
HI everyone
I don't really have any preference
(she is mom but we try to ignore that)
hey Mom! ((hugs)) how is your day going? I am totally goofing off ... slow day for me and I feel I can take a few minutes (for a change)
*sticks tongue out at jmc* be nice. I have a migraine today! *whimper whimper*
{{Stid}} hello, my day is fine. You deserve a slow day. :) How is the weather?
still need one more tile for NBT though
Oh Stid, I'm sorry.
the weather is dry, but overcast (which is fine for me) I like that it's warm enough to leave the door open for Lucky to go in and out as he pleases
sheesh she's always bringing out that excuse :-P
that is good. My Aunt has been in San Diego she said it was too cool for her taste.
i have nbt :-P
go jmc go!!! *shakes pom poms (moth flies out)*
where have you been keeping those pom-poms *ducks to avoid moth getting in hair*
um... in my office (which I can't get into because of all the boxes tom has piled up)
so... help me out please? need the E on the bottom for NBT
es?
to ea** his own Stid
oh misread that
as i recall from early this morning when i got nbt *ahem* es+auto
ec + not she but **
plural the es + auto
yep. that was it, es 7/36
??? es 6/21
es + autos for the 6/21
thanks! down to 70, and should get back to work on school things. Will be sitting quietly at the stidkid's school for a couple hours later while the play rehearsal is going on.
hi stid, sorry about the migraine
hey peri, thanks. I think it will be gone by tomorrow, but just not "all here" today. how are you? (she said, brightly)
doing well, looking for a newer car but not much progress as yet
what kind of car would you like Peri
car shopping is NOT my favorite genre of shopping. I am much more adept at clothes, books and shoes...
If I had money a new Honda Civic or HOnda Fit
but will probably buy a used Hyundai Accent or Elantra
I had an Accord but younger son drives it now
it is better than going shhopping for a bathing suit which I will have to do sometime soon :(
those are both nice cars
I have a 1991 Toyota Corolla
bathing suit shopping???????????????? Not in this lifetime for me
my tom likes his hyundai accent. good mileage, and big enough to hold a 6' stidkid AND his tuba (and the driver) with a bit of room to spare
oh! may I share something nice tom did for me?
really, ok then, it will probably be an Accent
please do Stid
will keep you posted
what years does he have Stid?
please do peri!
stid, I recently made unstuffed cabbage and the recipe is in my profile if you are interested
okay, so my car's heating thingy (the slider bit that changes from hot to cold) broke. big time. Tom bought a whole new unit, and installed it yesterday (almost 300 bucks!) -- at the same time he did that, he turned the radio rightside up (we bought the car used) so now I have reliable heating/cooling AND can play the radio and cds!
wow that is great, what a wonderful, handly hubby
I am so pleased, and feel like a real princess. It was heavenly to drive last night.
isn't he just a sweetheart, Stid
now I just need to get the oil changed and the car will be good for another few thousand miles
stid, did Tom buy the hyundai new or used?
we bought the hyundai new, to replace the 16 year-old sentra that died last summer. the van (see below) is 15 years old, and with kids and all I felt we really needed one reliable vehicle
there were some very good deals last summer, so it worked (barely) for our budget
what year Hyundai, stid?
um... 2009 I think.
but it might be a 2010. I don't know when car years change anymore!
ok
the other factors (aside from affordability) for us were safety (airbags even on the sides), mileage, and the 10-year warranty.
with 70 left I think I will get up and stretch my legs. {{Hugs}} to all of you
anyway, time for me to head out. down to 57 and will try to babble some tonight. (((hugs all))) good too see you!
*poof*
bye stiddie
good to see you too Stid, bye
bye mom
bye Jmcnrick

glad you are having a nice day jilli
I'm finding this really difficult

Metric acre! Metric acre!
guernsey goes to the PB for that, lol!
Anyone need clues?
i know i should. i just ran out of clues
so5/14?
I was thrown by the present tense plural- i was looking for endings with s.
Kap, I vaguely recognise that movie star in your icon -- who is it?
So5 14- like eating that chinese food- chop so***.
did you not see my clue for the acre, kap?
It's Valentino.
it's what you yell for pigs
Ah, thx, kap.
So5 is like co5.
ty Kap, I was sure I'd already tried that one
I mean about the usual susp***s
For those who have been attentive, I have gone from Soupy Sales to Paul Lynde to Valentino.
and the *** under suspicion
i noticed kap
There are many sides to my personality.
last 2 now - ya7 & 8
any particular reason for those choices, kap?
JM has been with me from the beginning.
*wanders around kap to see his many sides*
They strike my fancy.
boaters chrissie
all to do with sailing boats, chris
I see.
I think I had Maynard G Krebs briefly too.
ty, ty all cluers
i don't remember seeing him but we did discuss him
phantom word- foodstarch.
i'm afraid that the only one i've recognised is Valentino
finished and off to bed
Is that because you are very old?
congratulations Chrissie
whoo hoo chrissie
Plenty of cluers here, and it's too nice a day to stay indoors -- maybe I'll go outside with the laptop ;)
YAY Chrissie!!!
i like babbling on my back porch

What do I doÉ That É is supposed to be a question mark. Oh, I see -- the language has changed to Canadian French all by itself -- this is a bilingual keyboard :(

that happens to me as well jilli..tis a pain
mm,cheetos is in da grid
crossy, I think I know what happened -- I was outside and couldn't see the cursor well -- it must have clicked the spot up top to change the language. I changed it back to US and all is well.
i have the problem when texting in English on my phone. A double vowel like oo comes out as ó if i don't hit the right arrow before the 2nd vowel.
i have it configured for English or Spanish

Hi everyone

Hi Brooke
Hi dc, scrabbler
big demand for auto mechanics around here
ca6/24 please?
anything in medial is hot, imagine, bloodwork etc,but you can have all the diplomas in the word, but if you do not have someone on the inside, you are cooked
esp from local gov'ts
the govt positions are the same, they advertize for a week in the equador times then give the slot to their brother lol
lol, sorry im jaded today with the back slapping old boys club and the passing of little white envelopes under the table.the grease that lubes the good job machine is a tad spoiled;/..anyways back to babbling
looking for it, scrabbs
But you are right, Crossy--so much corruption, dishonesty, etc
lol maybe i should runb a smokehouse and prep bacon for a living
Add Ice Cream to ca4 before that ca6/24

Hi All. hope to finish. ...looks hopeful......

Hi Hego.
howdy, hego
scrabs
Last ch5?
ty for the ca clue.. just got it. hi hego!
Part of the body where the heart is, Scrabs
hi all (hego, your tiny icon (without zooming in on it) looks like a kandinsky ... when i clicked on it, i have no idea *lol*
Hi Brrokie
Aha, twisty word. TY, Hego.
i don't know either Welki. Just liked it.
yw Scrabs
hi welki
brookie, how was the visit with your ozzie friend?
Thanks for asking. It was fine, although we decided it was best to be friends and no more. We keep in touch quite often.
welki, the nearby pond was stocked today and a short time ago I saw an angler depart with 3 large trout on a line.
sometimes it's better things turn out that way
1st period is over. Sabres 1, Bruins 1. BRB.
the same day it was stocked? oh boy, usually there are regulations that make you wait a day or two after stocking (if you don't, you might as well just dip a net and pull a fish out, it's like a turkey shoot :(
Yes, and now I'm in a relationship with a man in the Washington, DC area... it's going extremely well.
i used to watch men follow the fish and game folks when they would release pheasants ... sorrowful state of affairs. easier (and cheaper) to just buy the meat
hi all
they come down hard on idiots like that now
hi mom!
best with it, brookie
hi, momneeds
tallking fishing and hunting among the women today
well woo hoo, brookie!! and a manageable driving distance!
opening day of trout is this saturday in my state - thats all I have heard about in weeks
yes... less than 2 hours! by the way, dc, I was in your area this weekend
lol mom, what am i chopped liver?
fish and game is very strict here
when i lived in jersey, i lived on a stocked, but small, river ... opening day was always pandemonium. the garbage was ridiculous ..even had men turning back the sod on my lawn for worms
didnt see you there crossy - so sorry (((hugs))) am I forgiven???
coolie, brookie. :) It was even nice weather-wise, this weekend
indeed
we have a pond a mile from the house - the guys are out there at oh dark thirty just to get their spot - got forbid they not get the same spot every year
i was forced to post my property, fishing by permission only. ohhh, the arguments! "you don't own the water" well, yeah that's right, but i owned both sides of the stream and the ground underneath ... so unless you could walk on the water, out! get out! LOL
they are back by 7:30 am or so with their limit for a big fish fry
indeed so, welki!
good for you welki
here, you can river fish now here in town, but many spots on the river and virtually all lakes are closed until May 20
I hear my 2-year-old singing himself to sleep, singing "The wheels on the bus go round and round..." (And on a more related note to the chog, good for you welki, for asserting yourself!)
the fisherman I dont mind so much - its the hunters that choose to hunt in my back yard that upset me with my kids playing outside of course
suppertime ... later, folks
most here walk down to fish on the banks of the Potomac , usually in a park
hasta, welki
ohhh - how cute brookie
bye welki
bye welki, enjoy supper
I live out in the woods - no parks - half hour to get to grocery store or anything really
bye Welki
so crossy - when are you crossing the pond (as they say?)
hello all
hello all
if anyone tried fishing in the delaware river and then ate the fish, they'd glow in the dark
Hiya TO
hi TO, aslindy!
Hi TO and aslindy
lol brookie
how is everyone?
Hi lindy
doing well, just relaxing (for a change)
how are you aslindy?
25 years ago my husband got very sick from washing his hands in river in Boston - we were watching fireworks on the esplanade eating fried chicken so he decided to rinse off his hands - big mistake - was in the hospital 4 hours later - we almost lost him. Dont trust those big city rivers.
I'm doing ok, thanks.
My God! mnh. That's one of the most bizarre stories I've ever heard!
oh my goodness, mom! did they pinpoint what exactly "poisoned" him?
wow, that is frightening!
it was very bizarre - 3 weeks in the hospital - multiple system failure, hepatitis etc - very scary - took along time to recover but is fine now other than he can never give blood
who knows whats in the Charles River
sewage perhaps if he got hep
sounds like septicemia
are there any sy words?
most likely - the city has done alot to clean it up over the years but back then who knows
there's one, TO
1 sy word
yes 1 sy word
yes 1 sy word
ty
internet just blinked
Fireworks!
hooray hego!

It does take some wrestling!
Thx barb!
it does take some wrestling, though Win7 is so superior to Win ME it's not even funny.
I'm furious that Thunderbird and Win7 are incompatible
Win ME? Who uses that anymore...had XP for years.
thunderbird 3 incompatible, thunderbird 2 works though
ty
I love XP. 7 is like New Coke.
my aunt and uncle have a machine with ME on it, though they plan to replace it.
Yes...have that.
w
only people i know that have it
Only people I now know of who do, haha.
Well. I have T'bird 3 point something.
I'm sure there are others though!
Everyone probably assumes I'm on a Mac.

Hi min!
This is why I was asking you to sign onto WLM.
I would gladly, but can't now -- a demain! Please explain to our absent friend ;)
Explain what?
Why I haven't been on WLM lately, cuz of Win 7 miseries
he's off in Australia right now, jilli, as i recall, and has not been online much.
He isn't on...he'll be at the venue, just finished or finishing about now.

No...others are finishing!
how long have you been babbling, I-Mac?
He tried to burn down a tree accidentally? If he was trying to, isn't that what you'd call on purpose?
A couple of hours, off and on?
well, he's burning the weeds around his back acre, and he wasn't paying attention to where his torch was pointing...and the flames caught the bark...
that's a good start!
so, is this your first grid?
(oh, not on the fire!)
I have watched it being done a little here and there, over a shoulder.
I see.
The first one I have done myself.
well, you've done admirably for your first attempt
I have tried to come up with words when someone else was stuck...I didn't do so well though.
very much so, job well done for 1st shot
He had already found most that anyone would readily find so I wasn't left with much!
it'll come as you play more, I-Mac
As I learn more strange words?
lbdawger, thanks but I have tried that with the ra4-5's ...what in the world am I doing wrong. Thanks for your help.
and then some, i-mac! LOL
the obscure ones are really frustrating, and then there are the babblets...ones that you only get my shear luck and lots of clues

Oh, I-Mac...you must not know about Lickety's Babble Clues (located below the grid/tile stats)
it's addicting!
Right click on it and open it in another window...
Clues?
...it gives you a complete list of all the words (with only the first 2 letter, the length and point value)
Obviously I don't have one of those, hahaha!
;)
it gives you a list of all the words with the first two letters and how many letters and points the word is worth
see what you think...I'm sure it'll help!
Thanks for that clue lbdawger...finally got it!
The word.
I can't be here long enough!
Or I will be dead on my feet at work...I will anyway!
just keep asking for clues, I-mac. we'll help you along

well, hit us up next time!!!

I will look at it quickly.
lbd...did you finish?
don't be a stranger, I-Mac. it's usually a pretty nice group of folks in here.
You mean I have to type in all the words I have found so far in the slot over there in the other page?
yeah, finished this afternoon, after work.
May I please hae a clue for ec6-21? Thanks
can you clue that ce6 for me?
I have seen someone do that before, too time consuming at this hour!
there's a box at the bottom of the lickety page where you can copy and paste your list in and it will automatically put them in.

hi 67!
You think Ian is a great name, Pinikula? I've never thought so, but it's what I'm stuck with.
OOOH brownies I came in at the right time.
i love the name Ian! one of my favorite authors...Ian Fleming! :-)
Well I'm not him...nor any other author!
No, I'm still trying to get a gs so I can have an Ian in the family!
one of my bosses from a former life use to pronounce it as EEE in.
Do you pronounce it with a hard I or soft I?
gs?
grandson
I prefer the other spelling of it...Iain.
ah
The normal pronunciation..."Eeyan."
that's how you should spell it then
yep....still like it! :)
It's pronounced as such because of the spelling!
I prefer the other...but my parents didn't.
my former boss was an idiot, she also always called me by her sister's name whech isn't even close to my name!
now that's one smart boss, lbd! NOT!

hi nrk!
Clue for ca6,24 please?

If your name is Maxine you look just like her!
Or like it...the name.

I'm missing that one, too, I-M
I think I look like an Ian. I look geeky!
thx lbd!
lol I-Mac. not a maxine, but i strive to be like her!
I don't think there's any such thing as a geek! I just think there are smart people who don't follow trends! :)

that was very polite, and very true, Pini

Miss anything? If so sorry, have 37 left to go.
those brownies were in my office at Christmas (gift from a vendor) and they were unbelievably good
no, that is the one jmb... one of my cointerns use to bring me things back from there when she went home... the chcolate cherry bread is to die for also
doing great, i-mac
I would ask her to jump first
oh yes! i agree, i work in ann arbor and we often use their catering.
I did question the first recipe she made up - 50% bourban - LOL... she then looked one up
ha6,21 anyone?
man, zingerman's rocks!!! my friend also mailed me a get well package from there when i broke my ankle... brownies in there also... yum
the real recipe seemed like too much hot water
hot tea

cool factoid of the day: THE GROUNDING of 63,000 flights over four days has saved 1.3 million tonnes of carbon dioxide, more than the annual emissions of many countries.
oh, sorry. how about so + just a *** I will put you on hold?
fyrwrx ;)
awesome factoid... and way cool that the contrails are gone from the skies -- everything is so much prettier when jets don't fly

well, you've got plenty-o-time should you change your mind ;)
nah I am still tired out from tax season and now back to regular work
then weds I am flying to SF
ahhhh ...
are there any babblers in SF?
all the way out here? more work?
yes a conference from thursday to sunday with meeting with donors and potentials donors and some filmmakers
but I am going to see an A's game on thursday
sounds like there might be some fun thrown in there?
it's a living
the filmmakers (emmy award winning for Soldiers of Conscience) are a hoot to spend time with
sounds like you're going to have a good time!
the four of us got drunk and thrown outof a restaurant in NYC a few weeks ago.
I pretty much always can find a way to amuse myself :-)
but ARE there any babblers in SF?
Ru's down that way
egads...a party mama!
ru is? some how I thought he was nearer San Deigo
maybe that is torg
nope...he's a northerner
(unless I've totally screwed up)
i am i am party! party!
oh, btw...when you come out for the GT, where are you flying into?
well if i see ru tomorrow i will mention i am coming to those parts
good idea!
want me to put a word in?
sure
can do ;)
boy it is sure different using this tiny netbook
netbook? laptop?
the key board is almost normal size but there is no number key pad and thescreen is about half size
on the other hand it only weighs 3 lbs so it will not kill my back when i am traveling
yikes!
I guess there have to be some pros with the cons...
i am just hoping it is going to be worth the $$$
It doesn't have a disk reader so everything has to be down loaded from the internet or a flash drive
Definitely!
guess that's there the lightness comes in
any way i will be able to babble without carrying my big lap top!
must have priorities
cool!
oh yeah...can't live without babble!
it also means i can have this upstairs in my bedroom and leave my laptop downstairs in my dinning room/office
Indeed.
*dining
hiya greedy!
hi greedy
Hello.
I gave up on my desktop when I got my laptop...gotta love portability!
obviously another person who understands priorities
i love my laptop but i bought it november and the keys are flying
i need to take it to be repaired so i decided i would buy this and then drop it off for a new keyboard
have we met before greedy?
I don't think so.
wellwelcome to the grid
jmc, greedy; greedy, jmc
Thanks.
have you been babbling for long
Around a week.

I AM BORG!
*ahem* sorry
We are ONE!
okay greedy the next step is pro so you don't lose the stats and the pretty fireworks

no no pini i am too shy
ROFL
i wouldn't want to impose
chog?
*coy look*
ch**+ log=chog
cram "chat" and "log" together and you get "chog"
it helps when ch** is in the grid
lol okay that5s what i thought but i wasnt shure
pb pini
what'd I do???
oh, ooops!
"we speak babble here"

well, I'll have to meet you somewhere!
Eugene? Portland?
i need to go to NYC again too
