We have two here. One is an old boy who we showed for years - he is a schoolmaster- which means he does everything and the other is an inexperienced beautiful black thoroughbred who belongs to my daughter's friend - she is teaching him to jump

We are looking to buy a horse for dressage, we are just waiting for the right one to come along (also one we can afford - they get very pricey
it's funny how many of my friends own horses - and they're all over the world!
The horses share the paddocks with a sheep who thinks it is a horse
that is so cute
Horses are a huge sport here -dressage, jumping , hacking, racing, polo, hunting etc.
and of course eventing
I have done a lot of riding over the years but now I like to stick to safe horses and quiet riding- the ground gets further away every year
we're in a tiny village, but although there are a few wild animals (foxes, boar, chamois, snakes), we never see them, just dogs (2 here) and cats (all over the place.
Not many wild animals in Aus. Here we have a few kangaroos , bandicoots possums snakes and thats about all
sounds pretty wild to me!
there used to be deer and rabbits here, but the French ate everything, even the squirrels (I think), so you have to go into the mtns to see anything and I'm too old for that!
lol, it's very civilised actually, lots of nice restaurants and wineries , but i'm sure that France would be absolutely fantastic, I know the scenery from watching the Tour (as we mentioned before)
yes, the scenery is beautiful, and right now is the prettiest time of all -- very long and flowery spring
and the visitors start coming wednesday!

I've had broken ribs and tehre are few things more painful
sprained maybe. It is painful, but it will heal now the coughing isn't that bad anymore!
I once managed to break a rib with coughing, a couple of years ago. It was incredibly painful. Did not even know it was possible. But the ER doc said coughing makes for incredible forces and strains.

the only thing that I ever felt that was as painful and kind of similar, is the pelvic injury I have from giving birth.
but now nothing is broken and soon things will be much better. I have a friend coming over to stay for a couple of nights, am so looking forward to it.

so after talking with T-Mobile rep yesterday, who basically told me I am scr**ed...I called back today, and spoke with someone else, who transferred me to yet another who then fell over backwords to help me...the last one finally realised I have 10+ years with them and practically gave me a new phone without the unneccesary grief...

ahh back from our nice drive up on the mountain.took the mrs to all the secret places i know,nice thick forests areas where the deer moss grows nice and dense ,you can sometimes see mamma deer and her fawn if you are lucky,then off to where there is this jumble of boulders from a old rock fall right near the road and there is this tiny waterfall that streams down the ferns that grow out of it and the water pools into this natural little basin before trickling off back into the trees,then took her to this massive part of the forest where the evergreens and the pines grow right up to the road in a solid mass so thick that it block view of all its secrets,but you can smell the ever green and pine and leaves and the water,you can literally smell the colour green...like i say nothing finer than resetting your zen

I think, it's that I don't really WANT to have the meeting for the particular quarter-long project that I am working on with two lovely but very young people who really haven't got a clue about how to pull anything together and don't want to follow my lead on anything either. We are halfway through the quarter and after spending 5 weeks doing it their way we are really not much further along than the day the assignment was made. With four weeks to go. And I feel responsible for helping pull it together when the "teamwork" piece isn't going to work with this particular personality mix.

In trying to make the "big idea" (consumerism and the destruction of the environment) meaningful to the imaginary students we need to write lessons for, I mentioned something that is a BIG DEAL where I come from, and in the community I am "student" teaching in. The strong personality classmate said that we can't pick something that isn't relevant to the lives of the students in the imaginary classroom. So I said, "So let's pick a school and look for things that would help the kids see the connections." (several times I said this). She completely ignored, then looked uncomfortable, then said she didn't think we needed to????
Now, this is for an IMAGINARY classroom. No actual students are going to be traumatized by any of the 10 lesson plans we are supposed to come up with!!!!
So much for "opening" one's mind to possibilities...
What do you think about me just going ahead and writing the three lesson plans that will fit the big idea as *I* would potentially use them... the community I will teach in will be the one where this is an issue.
...I'm guessing she'll have a hard time finding employment as a teacher (and that's if she actually earns a degree)

This classmate shoots down or finds fault with everything I do. It is getting to be comical. Of course, we didn't choose our groups -- I would not have chosen to work with her.
The truth is... she might be an excellent teacher, but... I am glad I will never be in a school where she will teach.
Personally, I'd cover my own butt and do a plan that answers the challenge especially since the team members don't appear to be willing to work together
I wouldn't want to be a student in her class, stid...
...I don't do well in learning environments where there is no room for the teacher learn as much from the students during their time together.
Anyway, enough of that. Pini, if you were a 5th grader studying the effects of outside investors on local economies (you know, the industries that use local resources but spoil the land/water/air for the residents), would you want to explore the ways that your own community is affected?
I would do that pini, but I believe the biggest part of this assignment is seeing if we can work as colleagues.

I would not allow her to torpedo the other team members' thoughts. And I would have stepped in sooner than I am actually doing...
I don't have the option to fly solo on this, but I can talk to my instructor (who knows our group is behind).
I would try and apply some of your problem solving techniques to this young person, explaining that her unwillingness to work as a group is becoming tiring and unproductive.

I haven't been able to figure out, pini. Privileged middle-class background, parents both professional teachers (so thinks she knows it all), did peace corps for a little while "teaching" English, but not long out of her bachelor's for sure.

I'm going to le4/5 a hand with a story of clues for my dear Babble fr6/30s.After having a fe4/9 with hubby he went out to go play a go4/9 game & I sat down to Babble. He go 6/36 for a long time so it was peaceful babbling.I saw the small grid and prayed to the lo4/5 that I'd finish,but I was a du5/16 today babbling. My brain was all cl 4/7ed up today because I could not fi 4/8 some of the easiest words. Had to use the ai4/5 of my monkeys. I had to fl 4/9 some of them because their behavior was so un 6/24 today.I babbled today drinking coca-co 4/5 since the weather wasn't so co 4/5. It was much co 6/21 last weekend. I wanted to babble in the nu4/5.But then the neighbors would be og5/14 and probably og4/6 at me. When I finally got fireworks I did a happy da 5/14 on the fl 5/16.I gave monkeys bananas for their ro4/4 in helping me out. I hope everybody has a fi 4/7 evening. Goodbye to all!
