Hiya, Sam! I am back for more torture!
well hello there stranger!
TNG Lt. Cmdr is in the grid
I'm actually off to bed soon. If I'm asleep I don't have to worry that this wind is gonna rip my house apart.
Hi. Glad to meet you. You only have 184 words to clue me tonight....HAHAHAHAHA!
hey Douglas!
Cyber is the TR 7/8 words we should know?
Hello stid...hoping all is well with you and the stidkids
all is.... okay. I am having a difficult week again, and actually TEACHING teaching tomorrow (instead of practice stuff with other grad students) and very very nervous I will make a big mistake -- the regular teacher who mentors me will not be there and I don't know the substitute.
otherwise. yes, all is good!
I'm popping over to ironsudoku and then off to bed. G'night all.
stumped by the A in the fourth column, second row...

cyber i called an LI 7 unless we have two?
and that is NBT for me. Must check wardrobe... and go wash hair (so it's dry by morning). And put everything in the car. And ... *sigh* it's like opening night in the theater, trying to remember all the details and knowing I will forget the first words!

(stid, check email)
I suppose the goose alert was mentioned while I was away?
there's only one 7 and one 8
still missing the 4th column a for nbt
okay pini. brb
nope -- but do have it
what did I miss hearing about, stid?
um, newer than the one you forwarded earlier today?
ai5 with only one consonant, nan
no, stid...same one...
I don't think so, Jill. I am having a (now predictably) horrid week and hating my grad program and thinking I am a total failure.
other than that, jill, all is well! *bright happy mama smile*
hope your week ends well, stid!
I hope someone will read the short, funny poem in my profile.
anyone have the last 8... I am still short one...
that ol 8 has be stumped
thanks pini

lol -- didn't see that either, grem
that's what I thought of too, stid
Not sure we can do anything at this point (I forwarded my response to you, too)...other than that...keep in touch and keep encouraging? :)
thanks pini. that is what I was thinking.

I think I need to take a deep, cleansing breath...
120 down -- will finish after golf tomorrow. Good night, everyone :)
that's right, breathe in love, breathe out clues
bye nan
I regret to inform Babble that I was not one of the winners in the St. Paul Sidewalk Poetry Contest
is that because the adjudicators were illiterate and in the pay of St Anthony?
The five winners got $150, and get their poems stamped into the sidewalk when a new block of sidewalk is needed
One of the judges was Carol Connolly, Poet Laureate of St. Paul. That tells you something about St. Paul right there, that it has a Poet Laureate.
52 to go but struggling now
wow, doug, i've never met anyone, town or burrough who has their own poet laureate
There are a number of states in the US that have Poet Laureates (or is that Poets Laureate?) Robert Bly is Minnesota's Poet Laureate, f'rinstance
so did you pour your heart out onto the pavement, only to have it rejected by rhyming elitists?
It's unfair, but don't despair.
Well, for the purposes of the contest, I only had to email it in...here's what I wrote, cuz you know I'm just dying to tell you... There is a place A place I love Where streets are paved with poetry And named for feelings felt while reading Verses in concrete Encouragement Resolution Are crossing Thank You Avenue Poems surprising, harmonising Make my joy complete
my country would give you a knighthood, if you could only think of one word, just one, to rhyme with beer (we've wracked our beer-addled brains and come up blank)
firworks
fireworks... lol can't spell
that reads rather charmingly douglas
well done voll
Yay dee!
wow Dee, WTG
ty ... was glad to have lickety
was the winning entry sometrhing prosaic like "Don't run, don't crawl, just walk tall on the words of St Paul"?
may I help anyone before I poof?
very nice indeed, douglas :)
voll, is there anything bigger than a 4 from the top right d?
Thanks, gort...they didn't give me any feedback, so I'm just going to have to enjoy my poem in my own company...haven't seen the winners yet
to rhyme with beer? Cheer, sincere, fear, queer....and on and on!
There is a di6, gort
di 6/21
I dub thee, "Sir Jilli, GrandPooBah of all of the Antipodes"
LOL. gort!
Part of a Midnight Oil album title...Peter Garrett's having a bit of a bother with the houses burning down, isn't he?
thanks doug, got it
yes, poor blighter, "how can we sleep when our roofs are burning?" will follow him all the days of his life
well off til the flip... have a great day / eve all!
thanks dee, toodle pip
*poof*...
bye and congrats, dee -- I haven't been paying attention here!
have our sizzling ceilings made American news?
No, I'm getting my Oz news from Tim Blair's blog
not here, gort -- what's happened?
Jilli, Peter Garret, beloved lead singer of Midnight Oil and environmental/social activist, left the gig to become a politician...
in charge of gov scheme to refund people for insulation...
what has that to do with sizzling ceilings, gort?
insulation installed badly, in some instances by kids, houses caught alight, people died
ah, maybe I see...
he's getting to it, jilli
now I do see!
Garret's famous song about ignoring abuse of aborigines "how can we sleep when our beds are burning" now a national joke
Oh dear!
and garret kicked out of office. it sucks because i think he was well intentioned, plus no one else could wiggle enigmatically like he could
who's tim blair?
He blogs at the Daily Telegraph, has won best weblog awards for Austrailia/NZ a number of times...(and it doesn't hurt that he's linked to my blog a couple of times)
*Australia*
now that i've depressed you with oz politics, gotta go
late nbt :)
Yay jilli!
bye gort -- not depressed!
G'day, gort
be back later, cheerio babblers
Something suspicious about this grid...I'm past halfway with nbt...declaring moral victory...good night all
night doug...
well done!
morning all
hi sprite..
Hi sprite :)
just found the al 7/8 after a zillion years
hey ruru, how are you?
hello ruru
hey jilli :)
sore...
hi jilli
what made you sore, dear?
took a tumble on the sidewalk
awwww :( I will give you a virtual hug then, so it won't hurt. Heal up soon!
ru, did you get your shoulder checked mediclly?
*medically
thinking about it..
no harm there, ruru. Have it checked out. Better safe than sorry and all that...
if it doesn't improve I will.. that will likely be a MRI and costly other measures
maybe just an X-ray?
doesn't your insurance cover that?
<<< ------ hates xrays
sprite -- easy for us to say, when we have universal medical care ;)
why, ruru?
yes, indeed, I am just being astonished. Things like this shouldn't depend on how much money one has.
just don't believe in doing them often jilli.. not good for prolonged health.
I hate MRI's much more.
But they should be done when necessary, ruru. MRIs are worse.
I do have medical insurance.. but this would also cost me a fair amount and most likely increase my rates
Shocking.
(plus it gets me out of vaccuuming)..lol
I hope you can get a comfortable sleep.
not really..
all the best, ruru
thank you both
lots of Tylenol?
jilli, good writeup :) And I almost picked the same icon!
Great minds, sprite! I like yours, and the writeup is interesting.
tylenol doesn't do much for me.. I am taking advil
that al 7/8 is driving me up the wall -- can't find the right endings
thanks :)
ah, that's good, ruru
et + some vowells jilli
jilli, same ending as tr 7/8
I had the et -- do the added vowels make real words?
we've had it before .. use the double vowell
et? You guys having a different grid?
al 5 = ET.. phone home...
got it -- hadn't seen it before
sprite, et means al 5 10...as in phone home.LOL
ohhhhh that et, lolllll. Ok, with you again, and already had the al words, I realise now.
someone estranged, I think?
ET works for Verizon nowadays
yes sprite .. like TIger woods
lol dizgrannie, thanks, I was all confused for a moment
Legal term, says the ? -- a person to whom property is al5ated.
ok, the victim of theft. Will remember!
fireworks
gratz
YAY anike!!!
I don't know, sprite -- the al5ated is probably also a legal term meaning something else.
but for a babble clue it will do
TY jill. I'm off. happy babbling
I just looked it up -- can mean 'transferred' (legally).
if someone could guide me towards the large ol words I would be grateful
interesting. Thanks jilli.
greasy words, ruru
ol + vowel + not out + vowel
thank you sprite..driving me mad those
lol I bet! This vowel combination is a normal one in Dutch, so for me they are a little easier to spot.
(in stark contrast with K words...)
K words are hard anyway
they are!
I so want fractoid to be valid. Douglas Adams already wrote about a hyperintelligent shade of blue... can't a fractoid be a kind of ET?
really slowing down now
yes sprite.. and closely related to cartoid
oh, it should be a word -- lovely!
see? Enable is decades behind the world. At least we know our ETs!
And then there's loid - as in I loided the lock easily.
definitely, helen
so true, helen.
Dr God's dictionarist just doesn't read hard-boiled tec books!
I am willing to go out on a limb here and say Mr. Enable doesn't read. Period.
Point taken.
:)
I was just going to say that a sl5 sounds like a slimy al5, but it's a real word! Good ting I tried it first, lol!
79 left, but my eyes is drooping- luck all. G'night.
sleep well helen
slien
ohhhh good one!
no the lock word, helen
It's 'a system of manual training based on experience gained in woodworking, originally developed in Sweden.'
heading to bed.. so nice to see you sprite.. and always you jilli
usually contains the sometime vowel or a j
okay. Makes sense.
ruru, likewise. I hope you can sleep and that you will heal up fast. All the best to you.
xx ruru, may the advil work well.
don't forget the japanese immigrant word jilli
*poof*
lol ruru goes out with a blast!
ty ruru and 'night
and the garlic dip word
words even
got that a while ago, slurp
those two too
haven't even yet had breakfast and just the thought of it makes my mouth water.
I don't think I'd want it for breakfast
not sure my stomach would like it, but my tongue sure would!
ok... now why not the -oid ending after the bug word!
what does the bug start with?
in, jilli
oh, of course, lol! and yes, there should be!
:D
you did find the goose, didn't you, sprite?
I like it that I spot the babblets even faster now, after the themes. It was really fun! Yes, the goose and also the tape worms.
thanks for those ickies.
lol
yay left column greyed out.
wtg!
thanks. Now for the rest!
I'm getting better at making up words and having them work
indeeds
I am pretty good at making up words. But usually they don't work :) Hello SmallChild
ta 5/12 was a total guess because I got grumpy with the letters
lol <3 and hai
hello small
gosh I hate it when my last C is the italian greeting. Why can't I spot that word?
hai jilli ^_^
thanks for that too -- I never see it either
glad I am not alone in that
Oh whee! No re words!
no, only un- words, grin
or oo- hate those -_-
the oo- words are just a select few. But un- and re- are both endless and random.
I don't have a dictionary to scrounge for oo- words and I know none =(
one that shows up here a lot is oorie (not here now)
if you want, you can always check out morewords or a2z
small -- www.morewords.com helps
yeah, I remember that one from last night
and I prefer www.a2zwordfinder.com
someone typed the definition and I just pasted it into google with quotes around it =P
and oocyte(s)
thanx sprite and jilli <3
and I prefer morewords ;)
de gustibus non est disputandem with jillibus
disputandum*
I love "making up" real words! lol, this is definitely improving my night
yay SmallChild!
:) small
and fireflies. Great grid!
nice!
anything I can help with before I go?
YAY sprite!!! (and I'm just over halfway, gaaa!)
good going, jilli!
I can say: one of the 8s is a compound
how many words today? -_- since I'm being a bum about upgrading until my summer job finally starts up
184 total
no, for shame! You started long after I did, you speedster!
dankes
SmallChild, it is always ok to ask how many words. Upgrading is worth the price, but as long as you can't, people here will gladly tell you the number of words.
<3
jilli, if I grow up, and I manage to be as smart and active as you, I will be so proud. No shame!
Oh stop, sprite *glows*
just speaking the truth! Ok, if nobody needs clues, I must be off. Have a lovely night and a great day, all of you. *hugs*
You too, bai for now
Bye, sprite -- have a good one!

this phantom "fractal" is driving me bonkers
that's what phantoms are for, small ;)
flosey, it should!
I'm plenty crazy as is -_-
yes, especially since I'm coming as pedestrian
have had a great time - William is tiring this old girl out!! think he'll be a handful when he gets his feet under him without aid !!
I think we need exhume Mussolini or something -- didn't he make the trains run on time in Italy?
Is William almost standing up?
There should be an animal called a sloat.
he stands Jilli, and takes a few steps when he's looking at something he can grab, I'm amazed how he can stand, squat, stand again
I tied that word, Jilli
how old is he now?
he'll be a year on July 2
My goodness!
yes, how time flies!
we';; be pver fpr tjatpccasopm
What you all went through then...
oops, gobbledygook!
wow, really tired, had hand in wrong line

yes all's well...we finally have a government!
Watching NBC--Dutch boy sole survivor of plane crash.
yes, i've been following that closely. it'll be very interesting to see how this coalition fares
it will, better than a minority government I think
ah, glad to hear that the Dutch boy is still doing alright. I hope he has other family
agreed, kallia, esp about the minority gov't
just have to wait and see how hard the cuts are going to hurt...hurt they will
gonna go make breakfast for the boys, back in a bit

hi Mob
Opps Bob
I just never heard that variation.
Stolen from Gossip Girl
Hi Bob & Infernal
Hi lynxx and Kaplan
Good morning- a quick one- have to go work in 20 minutes
hi Kap
GM lynxxx
hi guys
Hi Sandy
23 left and have done all the 4 and 5 s
hi herin
when do you finish your course Herin
hi Sandy
hi lyn, it's freezing here tonight
one day it's summer and the next it's winter!
we've been fluxing between mid-summer and early spring temps here.
hi dc, we don't really have 4 seasons , I think it's much more like two - I would love the definition
Hi DC
Sandy feels like never. End of the year
Spring is March/Apr here usually - between high 50s and low 70s F
Wow herin, it will be over before you know it! Well done!
I know. 2 weeks time awards given
I have been to the states dc, we drove from Florida to the Pochonos - it was may and there wasn't a leaf on any tree - On the way back the apple blossoms were coming out in Washington- I thought that was soo beautiful
here around DC, the trees are full green by end of April each year.
Are you getting an award? I'll bet you are!
No they are not telling us. meanies
Our temps are about 24 c in the day and sunny but about 6c at night
dc, we have mostly evergreens here with a few deciduous trees- our climate is similar to California and the meditteranean
Winters are mild and summers are hot
We have wonderful beaches and a very out door lifestyle
we have mild winters - usually - and hot summers, but we're mostly deciduous and decidely not like CA nor the Mediterranean. Sounds very nice there, sandy
sounds nice there too dc, I do love Australia but I don't like the summer, it is too hot in the day
I would like to live in Tasmania, the cheese is great, the wine crisp and the history is really interesting
yes, Tasmania has a very interesting history, agreed
they have lovely restaurants down there as well
this past year, we broke an 1878 record for snowfall in a season. It was amazing. we got more than 2m in one week!
Tassie is freeking cold in winter.
O and the real Rasberry's and fish
raspberries grow wild in the woods around here. So do blackberries
Lol herin! No snow here DC - but I would love that, My daughter drove to Edinborough in a blizzard at xmas - the video is amazing
The world has some lovely places I reckon
I was amazed when i first saw the Desert in Nevada. So full of living plants - not at all like the desert in Spain
Not like our deserts either I'll wager. We never got to Nevada but I hope we will one day - My husband is actually a US cit-has a us passport
Our deserts are pretty boring
dingos and spinifex
Mountain goats are amazing - i got to see some in the Virgin River Valley of Arizona. We have nothing at all like them here in the East
hi all
We are going to Europe and England on our next trip. Europe has some beautiful places- I also want to do that Rockies train trip
huh. the online pictures of spinifex show woody trees around it. interesting.
hello boo
morning, boo
there are large areas with no trees , just flat and vegetation is very spindly
No rain - water is our problem here
where in Europe do yall plan to visit?
Sandy I swear I got fat seeing them over there
we will do a tour of some sort , but we haven't organised it yet- we are in the process of selling our house to build a new house on our llittle farm
Herin, what made you fat?
LOL I know what makes me fat
oh, that's a lot to deal with the sale and construction.
it is all consuming at the moment, but will be great when it's over and it hasn't really even started yet
one of our daughters is an architect
ahh, just taking a peek at the engagement photos our photographer just emailed us... i gotta say, we are one CUTE couple. ;)
Good morning, Earth dwellers!
hi judi and eva

good morning Judi
Heya, Boo!

Well, load, woman! Load!
what's with all the clothes Eva?
sandy -- i have a daily fashion blog. :)
Expand please - are you a designer? model? is it your own line?
Good for you eva
ok, new engagement photos are in the flickr. :)
nothing like that. not a designer, CERTAINLY not a model. i just take photos of the outfits i wear each day + post them on my blog. :)
OMG, I have never seen so many clothes!
lovely photo shoot, eva :)
hmm maybe Herin's shoe collection....
lol, im a savvy shopper. ;)
have you set a date for the wedding , eva
thanks DC. im super-excited to finally see them. it makes me even more excited for the wedding, knowing we have a great photographer!
yes, boobear -- the wedding is october 23.
nice time of year
im hoping it doesnt get too chilly. we are hoping for an outdoor ceremony.
lovely time of year, and may it be warm enough for outdoor. As you know it very much either is or is not at that time of the month. More usually is warm enough though.
How many words today?
is that your wedding dress in the icon Eva?

lol dc , I don't have the 7 either - have 20 left
Sandi this is NYE spread: http://tinyurl.com/25jljzs and http://tinyurl.com/2frs8yv
And I think Eva you ahve a fantastic wardrobe
lovely dress Eva
to4 - frog - others build from it
have them now thanks dc
thanks, herin + sandy. my body is definitely different from the one i learned how to dress growing up, but i think i do a pretty darn good job of it. ;)
going to look Herin
i agree, eva, having review the pictures
Eva if we all stayed the same shape we would be borring. I think women need to embrace their lumps and bumps and accept that is the way nature made as and BOO to crappy clothes companies that say otherwise
im not a skinny-minny, and i dont have an endless budget (especially not this year, planning the wedding!) but i think i manage to find good bargains, for the most part know what looks good on me, and im fairly creative...
Eva you are stunning
::blushes:: oh, my -- thankyou!
Eva I think you do a great job - but I don't believe for one minute that you dont have an endless budget- lol
sandy -- believe it or not, i have gotten several of those pieces (and about half of my shoe wardrobe) at Goodwill! im lucky to live in a wealthier area, so the stuff at goodwill is higher end than where i used to live!
Honestly I think that most guys I have spoken to like a woman that is confident in her skin. Be it small or big. ANd most guys I know like curves
Goodwill has some great stuff around here. we furnished one house entirely from there.
same here , herin - my husband hates skinny girls- I too think men like confidence in women
Sandy did you see the food pics
then i shop at discount stores and sale racks. i am SUPER cheap. my mom always laughed whenever we would shop together because i would walk straight through a store to the back where the sale racks are -- i wasnt even interested in paying full price.
i agree, herin. my fiance + i dated back in college, when i was MUCH thinner. after we reconnected, he told me that he much prefers the curvy me to the super-thin me.
yes I did!!! Just the sort of things I buy!! I had a laugh when I saw them - I know just what you are about
AWWWWWWWWWW see you two were meant to be together.
When I come to Melbourne Herin , I hope you will let me take you out to lunch
Eva - if you are looking for household goods for the marital nest, see if there is a Habitat for Humanity surplus store near you. Here's the link: http://www.habitat.org/env/restores.as px
we really were, herin. we dated for about 6 months in college, then didnt speak for about 8 years. then he found me on the internet and basically told me i was the one who got away. and its all history from there. ;)
Sigh. How romantic, Eva.
Sandy sure thing.
(ok Eva dead from cute now )
My son is over there at the moment , I think I will have to check up on him before too long
lol, Herin. Yes, we've all melted into a big puddle of love.
hah, dont worry herin, we are FAR from perfect + still fight likr normal people. i just have to remind him that im the perfect gal for him, and he needs to defer to whatever i want. ;)
Ok I have one up on you an that then We don't fight :P
judi -- looks like there is one just a few miles from where we live! we arent yet homeowners, though, so home-furnishing wont be happening any time soon... but i will keep that in mind -- i didnt know that existed!
I just discovered it myself, Eva. Apparently, they have everything from paint to building supplies to bathroom fixtures, etc. etc. All at ridiculously discounted prices. Plus, all money from sales goes back into Habitat for Humanity. It's a win-win.

before I go out to the wide wide world, anyone like a clue?
yes.. who killed colonel mustard?
Is that from Clue?
Was it Frank?
yes..lol
I should get that game for my grandkids...ages 9 and 11..is it suitable for that age?
I play with my bros of similar age ranges and they like it, but stink at strategy so they get a little frustrated. But Clue is a big thing for my family! ((Hi Annie!!))
(((Uniquity))) Hello dear girl. Then I will get it for them.
hi ruru
ruru, How is Dylan?
i have and love the game Clue, but no one ever wants to play it with me. lol
If you're good at Clue, no-one will play. It's annoying. Amazing how many strategies one can have though!
I see we have a lot of Cluers here. Must be a very good board game.
or is it Cluists?
I kind of thought Clue was boring at that age. Maybe the game of Life? Do they still make that?
Just try to get regular or original. They've got new fancy versions that get more complicated. But I guess kids might like that more? I like tradition too much, sometimes. I loathe the monopoly where it does the money for you. Being banker is the best!
Life is still kicking, Judi. The game, that is.
I always liked being the banker in Monopoly
my kids loved life and still do as teenagers
Mystery Date is good for girls.
Adding Life to the list.
They are both boys.
Popping off for a bit. BBL.
I loved playing the game Operation when I was a child
Oh! Stratego! It's a one on one strategy game that my 10 year old bro. loves and kicks butt at.
later, Judi
they have Operation and love it
adding Stratego
my son likes battleship
that was fun too
battleship on the list...
Taboo is loads of fun as well! And Apples to Apples
Aww, Battleship! Why am I spending so much time playing Babble when I could be playing board games? Oh wait, no-one I know will play them too.
toy store is going to love to see you coming Annie
teenage girls like apple to apples
Luckily lots of the classic board games seem to be way cheaper than modern ones.
they are going away to camp this summer and I want to send something to them. Are board games okay to send to kids at camp?
I really dont know. when I went to camp (ages and ages ago) we were not allowed to receive packages
thats OK - I sent smaller stuff when my kids went to camp
my kids couldnt wait for packages to come
the game boxes may get destroyed
Momneed, What can I send them...ideas will be lovely
Pieces might get lost (as they always do), but I can't imagine it being a problem. You can ask the camp leaders though.
and greatly appreciated
how about uno card game
deck of cards, yoyos. what else? baseball cards???
adding uno to the list
I think you are right, Uni, about pieces getting lost re: board games
boys are harder - smaller size football - foam kind with the tail, playing cards, paper airplanes, smal travel games - checkers, dice.
TAboo is hilarious - only cards and the timer/buzzer
in my life, i have yet to lose a single game piece. same goes for my sister.
same here dc - still have my original Operation game - and all body parts
adding Taboo...dice is good...
might be too old the these kids science
my nephew has a modern version of operation. It doesn't spark or shock like the old ones did.
dont forget snacks - no homemade goods through the mail
yahtzee
thats no fun dcs
snacks..good idea
I am wracking my brain for this catalog/website that will put together a package for you - its on the tip of my tongue

LOL
Hello, Haz.
of course you would show up when I talk you up...lol
And timing?
Hello! I literally have just arrived.
hello haz!
Sure you weren't lurking, waiting for your entrance?
Honestly, I've just arrived. As if I'd ever lurk...
sen ic
Going to go grab a bowl of split pea soup. Back in a mo...
clue for the ne 6/21?
hey Haz
hello all
bees like it red
Hello, peri. ne6/21 - probably not split pea soup.
I agree with your position haz..and am saying nothing..
Haz .... just read your profile and agree wholeheartedly.
Lips zipped, it's the way forward.
thanks ruru
ruru, how are you feeling at the mimute, I hear you had an unwanted encounter with a hard surface?
it is hard to sleep..I did bang myself up pretty well.
Ha, split pea soup is ambrosia! ;)
<----loves split pea soup
*passes a bowl to ruru* Good invalid food, too. =)
That's 2 for split pea soup, 1 against. Any advance?
hate split pea soup
2 for 2 against.
lol, Haz. Apparently if you lay down one controversy you have to start another?
What is it about invalid food? Stuff you give that they're too weak to refuse?
I dont like it either!
3 against, 2 for.
There must be a bit of election fever left over in me. I need to count votes.
how many words today please
Fine, ruru and I didn't want to share it anyway.
with crumbled bacon and crispy sage leaves
184
184 words.
thanks
exactly vic.. heathens
We're voting on split pea soup - no accompaniments allowed in case it affects the voting.
ne 6/21 stuff that birds like(very sweet)
You know very well crossy will vote for anything with bacon.
<<<---- pandering to votes
The man's shameless.
haz- i am in the dark about the situation mentioned in yhour profile, and it, s probably just as well,... was not aware of a problem and have no idea of what was/is going on-probably just as well.
me niether sammy and as you said just as well
Let it stay that way, sammysmom. I hope it's in the past, if we can bring enough pressure to bear.
I think comparing it to a troll appearance and not feeding it is a great idea..
I can't believe Enable won't let us put the robot ending on in6/21. What does Enable think lives in the Megahives of the outer planets???
i would vote for anything with bacon too, haz... it IS a seperate food group , is it not??
And your vote on split pea soup, sammysmom? Awful stuff, isn't it?
uh haz.. no baiting
Okay, rephrased. sammysmom, do you like split pea soup?
SPLIT PEA SOUP!!!!-- just happens to be one my specialities... I always hated it as a kid, but made it a few years ago for my husband, he said he doesn't know what was different but mine is the best he ever had in his like and "could i have some more please?" friends of ours who always hated it like mine- i don, t know why unless it is my secret ingredient.
and that would be...?
3/3
lol'
3 for 3 against.
onlyhad pea soup once as a child and spit it out
not willing to try again
Im a vote for it!! Good afternoon all
Not even if sammysmom made it, peri?
4/3
Hello, caitlyn.
depends on what the secreat ingredient is, Haz
vote against...hi all
Hello caitlyn. And I thought you were a woman of sense.
yes for split pea (except right after watching "The Exorcist")
what's the secret ingredient?
and onoy if you try it first, Haz :)
even my own kids like it and the grands... when i make it, i have to make the 3 gallon pot so they can take some home
4/4
5/4
And hello, Kallia, and Jeff7...
You were right, Haz.
aHH, RU, THAT'S A SECRET!!
hi all
But it is sensible to enjoy something as healthy and holesome as that
can you give a clue as to the secret ingredient, I might be willing to give it a try then
(just wait until sammy needs a clue)
i'm a "yes" on the pea soup thing
6/4
wholesome, too, so that's three things it's got going for it! =)
Hi Jeff
LOL
Hello, bojazz.
Hold on, where are all the split pea haters? We need to make our voices heard!
IF YOU really WANT THE RECIPE , I WILL OBLIGE
I knew my spelling was bad LOL
could you post it in your profile?
..I just need the secret ingredient
I am stil here Haz!
I make great split pea soup.. I could always make it better though
I know, but we need new recruits, peri. We will be voices crying in the wilderness.
and my sister hates pea soup too, that should count for someting
i' too dumb for that peri- a computer illiteratre if you will, but will give it a try later on
6 / 4.1
my hubby hates it
and my cat hates pea soup, that is two more nay votes
6/4.2
barfing in the wilderness?
That's a proxy vote for Marigold against split pea soup.
LOL Haz
my hubby too dislikes it.
Huh, in that case I can bring 7 more yes votes to the table.
They are silent votes I dont think they count
not till we hear from marigold herself
Any postal votes required?
weel she is at work at the moment
brb
She's going to drag Marigold from work, I just know it.
i was thinking of doing some tactical voting - would that be all right, haz?
My deceased grandmother loved it does that count as a vote for it then?
It depends, just as long as we get the right result. NO to split pea!
by the way, hello all
lol
6.1/4.2
We obviously need to draw up voting rules.
Hello, guernsey girl.
Hi guernsey girl
ROFL
i thought that if i voted yes to split peas, evben though i don't like them, i might at least get some lentils
ruru, you didn't add the 7 yes votes from my children, husband, parents, and brothers.
No, it's split pea soup in its entirety without undue emphasis on any one element.
6.8 /4.2
Ooh, I love lentil soup, too, but my children would be noes on that one, I'm very sorry to say.
35 votes from my extended family!
AGAINST!
LOLOLOL
Help, now it's split pea v lentils. This changes everything. I'll need to get a manifesto written.
very well then, i and my cat are no's
6.8/5.1
What percentage of a vote are animals allowed?
Cats don't count. Cats shouldn't be eating any kind of people soup whether they like it or not.
My hubby just called out that his parents and brother also loved it so that is another 4
animals don't count.. but apparently dead people do
that's why she's a no
No pets.
6.12/5.1
Well, I've just asked my neighbours and they're shocked that anyone would like split pea soup. Another 4 against.
ok. my two brother's both dislike it.
(liar)
To the PB!
LOL
That's him out of the road. Now I can rig the vote....
LOLOL
four of my grandcildren wouldn't even look at it, let alone eat it
I agree, ruru. You may be in the PB, but you're a martyr to the cause of uncovering Haz's perfidious voter fraud.
chuckie and sammie like my soup too, but then, they will eat anything we do includine iced tea, potato chips and pickles
The postman has just arrived and the election workers are reporting a heavy swing against plit pea soup.
if my honourable friend says her neighbours dislike split pea soup, i don't think my other honourable friend should imply that she's being economical with the truth
what is plit pea soup - something new?
Haz there will be questions asked in the house if you rig this vote
it's what miners eat in the pits
plits are hard to cook
Plit pea soup is not another food stuff, but a typo. I'm so shocked at the level of support for GREEN soup.
*starts throwing empty bowls at the honorable Haz*
aaah
(considered throwing split pea soup, but didn't want to waste it)
could always add catsup
in that case my cat must be allowed a vote, bojazz
no matter how haz desperately wants to boltster her position .. people love split pea soup
ruru plits may be hard to cook but have you ever tried catching one ?
LOL
There is a long and noble history of green foods. It's the bright blue ones you want to avoid.
Some people love split pea soup - some.
LOL
the only way I know caitlyn is with bananas
Sensible people love split pea soup.
Others, who have better judgement and taste, do not.
<<---banana plits
add bananas to plit pea soup?
lol
ROFL
Nothing is slipperier than a plit on a banana peel.
how do i get into my profile to put the recipe in??
Whoosh!
ROFL
LOL
LOL
please tell me what ROFL means
i want the resipe for the plit peas :)
roll on floor laughinh
rolling on the floor, laughing
Rolling On [the] Floor Laughing
ty, vic. that's what i'm doing right now
I like split pea soup but must have hambone in it. So does my family and BF. We also all like lentils and what started this rediculous chat
a grammarian?
You type very well for a floor-roller, guernseygirl!
i've got long arms
It's all Vicuna's fault. She mentioned split pea soup.
LOL
yay, vicuna!!
hoot you are on our side
Hello, hootowl. It's all Haz's fault. I said I was getting some split pea soup for lunch, and she started abusing my excellent choice!
all this from a mention???? You all must be finished!
not even close
nowhere near
The fault should always lie with the person who originally mentions anything. It's the law of England.
I make mine with lots of other veggies and the bone. Tastes great
Finished? Well, I'm already finished with the soup that began it all! but not finished with the grid.
No, the law of England is that the fault always lies with FM.
the lentils are vegetarian
I wonder what FM's position on split pea soup might be?
she'd be for it
(Yes, mine has a hambone and some other veggies, hootowl.)
she is civilised
And Ata would that girl has got taste
One's position should not be so much ON the soup, as seated politely in front of it, spoon poised.
No wonder you don't like it, Haz, if you insist on trying to eat while ON it.
ROFL
oh well - couldn't resist but must go shopping. 9 left and bbl
by hootowl
Bye hootowl.
Bye, hootowl! Thanks for making your vote count! ;)
Bye hoot enjoy shopping
don't forget the peas
And I must do the ironing, see you later I hope and yay for split pea soup, bye
lol, goodbye, caitlyn!
See you later, caitlyn.
When's peri going to get back with Marigold's vote?
Turns out Marigold likes it after all. She got a taste of Sammysmom's secret ingrediant.
i love split pea soup.. specially with home made croutons!
i just love it when the chog takes off into these totally surreal realms
Good grief! Another one!
Hello, Doren!
to tell the truth, i'm quite partial to it as long as there's no ham involved
Hello, Dorens. (secretly wishing that Dorens could have added her vote to the no camp, we are losing..)
it can be way better than TV
you're right, boj
the pigs would agree, gg
Nothing like a good, silly chat to stretch the brain.
too right, Vic and jazz
Ok - back to work - a great day/evening to all of you
I know. The only problem is trying to convince your family that tears running down your cheeks with laughter while typing furiously isn't a sign that you've gone mad.
Goodbye, bojazz.
Bye, bojazz.
fortunately for me, i live on my own, so it's great to have a good laugh
bye bojazz
It's only when I try to explain afterwards why it was so funny that I get the raised eyebrows.
Hate split pea soup
Just had a chance to catch up on a bit of the chat - must put in my vote!
now you tell us!
Hello, helensgirlkid!
I've always known you were a sensible woman, helens.
Ruru! Another one against!
the two other people I live with hate pea soup too!!
I should have kept a written tally, I'm going to have to scroll back to make sure of the figures.
Two more!
Though my mother once broke up about half a pound of crisp bacon into a bowl of it, and that made it edible, at least! (crossey would appreciate this, I'm sure.)
marigold is on her way home and she still does not like pea soup
See, if you have to put other stuff in to make it edible, that just shows, doesn't it? It shows.
Is she coming home specially to vote?
My children used to eat it with very still faces - I'm not sure what that meant, but it wasn't a vote of confidence!
Hmm, with Haz in charge of the tally we're going to find that it's mysteriously gone 582-6 against.
where is FM, I want to know her vote and stiddy too
no chance of a split vote then
no she works half a day on Thurs
It's the peas that are supposed to be split, not the vote.
i don't care for pea soup in general, though one restaurant in DC makes a lemony one i don't mind
Well, obviously any person who loves split pea soup who wishes to challenge the tally can comb through the chat themselves - very educational, too.
Good job we're following British tradition and voting on a Thursday.
like haz, i'm a bit hung up on the technicalities of elections at the moment
Now you're splitting hairs, Vicuna!
Hello, dc.
You can't vote for one soup from one restaurant. It's the genre of pea soup. The totality of the awfulness.
I think we should have UN observers watching over this one.
FIREWORKS!
Hooray!
Yay for helensgirlkid! How do you find words in the midst of all this soup?
hooooooooooraaaaaaay for helen. though how you did it with this mayhem going on around you, i don't know
Must go - long list of phone calls to make. See you all later - good luck. (ta 6,7 was cheating!)
Haz, a definite eeeewww from me. I detest the stuff even though I like peas.
Excellent, NANCY. A woman of sense.
Bye, helens!
congrats and bye helens
I should get to work, too. I'm taking my soup bowl and leaving, so there!
mmmmm..... sushi lunch. :)
Bye Vicuna. You probably didn't realise what you were starting when you brought up the subject at 10.58.
bye Helen and Vic
hasta, vic
Nope. But that's the joy of the chat - never knowing the tangents it will traverse. Bye, all.
Toodle-oo, Vi.
how have you been, haz? seems like ages since ive actually spoken with you. :)
I've been fine - frozen with cold since this country thinks that eternal winter is a good idea, but otherwise grand.
understandable -- weather here has been rather wonky lately, hasnt it, DC?
I made the mistake of changing over my winter for my summer wardrobe. Not very wise of me.
You are right Haz cant believe we are in the middle of May. Global warming? Bring it on I say!!!
se7 pls
I know. I got an oil delivery at the end of March and thought it would do me until the end of October. Not at this rate, it won't!
however, i've just finished a book about the siege of Leningrad and now i feel much wwarmer
i start with 4 gallons of water- add the hambone with lots of meat on it-let it simmer for an hour or so- remove the bone and when it is cool enough to handle- trim the meat off and throw the meat in the pot.... add 2 lb split green peas....... while that is simmering, fix the veggies........... a whole head of garlic minced, then add a couple of pounds of onions chopped the way you like them, then add a bunch of celery chopped up, then a couple of pounds of carrots, then a couple of pounds of potatoes, all chopped the way you like -- let the whole thing simmer for another hour or so, and there you are.if it is not thick enough to suite you, let it simmer awhikle longer tilkl it evaporates or if you are in a hurry, you can add a small amount of instant mashed poratoes,( a great thickener for any soup) probably wont need much salt- but if you insist , go ahead... and the secret is that a cup of burgundy will add a little somtthing to almost any soup- (or roast or .....
se7 - compound word involving water and a means of transport.
we are headed to the beach soon. i hope it is warm enough to enjoy it!
thank you, sammysmom
that's se8, is it not, haz?
Alcohol is the secret ingredient!
as it so often is, Haz
I remeber my hussband saying they went to see Dr Zhivago and the central heating in the cinema wasnt working - and he has never been so cold!
You're right, dc. My brain is awash with soup.
se7/32 - se plus an anagram of Patsy ------ the singer (country)

You're welcome.
Where did ruru go?
ty, haz
ru- has probably go to buy some green split peas
Either that or the pain meds have kicked in and he's lying in a stupour.
You're welcome, dc.
i have to tear myself away now and do something useful. bbl, bye all
its a sad, sad day when sushi doesnt hit the spot. :/
Bye guernsey, see you again.
you too, Haz
Hi Haz and everyone. Is it safe to come in or are you all still throwing soup at each other?
Okay, time I was heading off to attend to some food in the kitchen. It will not take a genius to work out what is NOT on the menu.
Hello, Sally. It's safe - once Vi left we could breathe more easily.
What delicious things are you cooking up tonight, Haz?
At least if we're talking about food we can divert VI from singing.
We're having Caribbean pork chops with whatever I can find!
clue for the first se 4/5
Perhaps there should be a coalition of the soup-lovers and the soup-haters.
mmm pork chops
i think we are gonna have sausage and peppers + onions
nm got it
se4/5 - what holds a garment together.
a cult boo
pork chops on the bbq
We have marinated chicken and jacket potatoes (or we will when I put the oven on)
mmm had pork chops yesterday Greetings all.
Hello FM!
I'm just on the way out, but quickly. Split pea soup, yay or nay?
Hallo FM.
Evening Haz :)
nay
soup, yay. split pea, nay.
(nay, nay, nay, nay, please, nay)
Hooray! FM votes against. So much for ruru's predictions!
horrid nasty yucky.
Yay from me but only when I cook it with the ham bone in.
clue for se8 please
i have never actually HAD it, but i can sense that its one of those things i dont need to try to know i wont like it.
Right, I must drag myself away - such a pity but this family of mine insist on regular food. A packet of crisps and an apple doesn't cut it.
ok, another vote: should i have applesauce or a banana w/peanut butter?
Bye to all!
b'bye haz!
compound word boo, ocean plus transport
banana
hasta, haz
lol Bye HAz, I am only passing through too as still have stuff to do.
I'm biassed Eva, can't stand peanut butter!
Hope to have more babble time tomorrow. TTFN all.
Hasta, FM
i love PB and banana
if putty is drying out- should you add water or mineral oil to make it pliable and workable again??
check the ingredients - usually water if it's to dry for finish and mineral oil if it's to be pliable for finish
thanks dc

he is a good boy
it is 11 years' accumultion of "stuff"

hold your ground - only kidding - bye ruby
it's like a cartoon
wqhere they're demolishing a building and the last tenant is holding his ground in his apartment
one thing crossy has discovered whilst on this diet is that diet sliced turkey and chicken breast meat must also contain ground unicorns cause the damn stuff is about a thousand dollars a pound at the butchers lol!

howdy ruby
bye ruby
Hey Crossy - hang in there - but you have all that money now you dont spend on smokes
bye Ruby
How about roasting your own for sandwiches

yes indeed mnh, that is a way to go also
bye again - 45 words
you can freeze the meat after it is cooked too - ziploc bags work good
are you saving up you old smoking money for a present for yourself mnh?
well I was, then last week my daughter hit me up for money for the charitable walk she is doing and my son hit me up for uniform money - will start again this week
when wife and i quit,we saved it for 2 years and got a new car in 2004
thats awesome - I need a vacation so that is what I would save for - kids want to go to florida - maybe next summer before daughter goes off to college so have a year to pack it away
there you go;)
save enough so you can go frist class, put dad and the kids back in coach lol
first
become a vegan like me, Crossy ;) solves the problem! or would that make life unbearable?!
I just have to stop giving the kids money - will send them to hubby instead - yes, much better idea
Hi Nancy
not here nb,with our winters i would go broke buying out of season veggies
Hey NB - I got some good new yesterday
I know you were here during my cry fest this weekend - well my brothers test results came back negative - woohoo
oh what was brother getting tested for?
oh Mom, that's fantastic!!!
two weeks ago he was diagnosed with melanoma when they removed a tumor from his back.
i had that one;)
*runs in and surprise-snoggles NB*
ohhh, I don't know what I'd do with a winter that bad! I'm not built for it ;)
When that lab work came back positive they scheduled him for more work - had surgery on his back last week - injected some radioactive stuff and followed it, removed more of his skin and tissue from his back and removed two lymph nodes from under his arms. That came back yesterday as negative
ew, Eva, I had my mouth full! ;)
lol,the wind would go through you like a knife through soft butter nb;))
great!
a negative is alsways great!
lunch? (or dinner, for you) what are we having?
yes it is - we can all breath again
i can watch an autopsy and eat pasta nb lol
lol! I'm being bad and snacking between meals. So it's only a mouthful of apple ;)
I'm so happy for you and your family, Mom - what a relief :)
hmmm - thinking Eva was lurking just waiting the NB to show up
I dont know if I would call apple bad - in my household I beg them to eat apples any time of the day
LOL Crossy - I hope that's not a tested theory!
heh, i do lurk a little bit, but mostly i pop in + out throughout the day. sometimes i chat, sometimes not. :)
it's me, I'm irresistible to women ;)
I will freely admit I lurk alot - just teasing you!
that you are Nancy Boy
you are a babe magnet nb;)
I need to get back to work - later folks
fireworks
see you, Mom :)
yaa for boobear!
hooray for Boo
you are, NB. you are. were you straight, youd have no trouble. ;)
lol! nahhh, I'm too short for most girls here ;)
and sure to be lots of cat fights - OK I am really gone now
but youre gorgeous and loving. height aint all its cracked up to be. ;)
*preens* if you say so, gorgeous girl ;)
takes one to know one! :P ;)
nah, we all know Crossy is the stud of babble ;)
well, this is true. ;)

Yes, Jmc, it is an ad from the 1930"s
ick even from the 1930s!
I have been doing one a week.
hmmm the woman's hair and clothing do not look like the 30's
Looks like 60s to me
I am sorry I have missed them what with work and stalker guy and all I have been busy
no it does look like something from the 70's but it was included in a packet of ads from the 30's
I should have looked closer.
who is stalker guy
me too lynxxx
stalker guy? what have I missed
oh this guy who blames his inability to be recognized as Gods gift to the Quakers on me
after many years of run ins he started "friending" my fb friends and I had to make a fuss
are you OK?
I am fine he is probably not physically dangerous
geesh, I hope not
but it upset me to find him trying to contact my minor nieces and nephews
oh my

I was trying to be nice Mom when I said nut case

Be back in a bit. {hugs}}
I meant A**hole
yeah the kids part was the part that bothered me but i suspect he was so wrapped up in contacting people I know that he wasn't paying attention to that minor detail

hi jmb
hi jmb - how are you
Fair to middlin' as my mom used to say.
good evening all
hi everyone
hi Dorens - did youvote on the split pea soup earlier?
hi Mom
funny you should ask bo... i was on for about six minutes, but I did weigh in on the fact that I love it (particularly with homemade croutons)
aahh - i remember :)
but we are talking about homemade, not campbell's, yes?
definitely
eisle
ooooooops
don't know how anyone could possibly not vote yes! (not that i'm dogmatic or anything)
stick an n in that bo
lol
pea soup - oh yuck - was there a vote - count me as a nay
home made, mom?
i vote yea, though at the moment i am eating wonton soup.
i make it for my husband - ham bones baked and boiled - fresh veggies - and hold my nose through the whole experience - needless to say, he doesnt get pea soup often
ruru was keeping tabs, Mnh - tell him
Now Wonton Soup is awesome
at the moment i would like to eat either, if someone had made it. i am wanting food and not wanting to cook. this is a problem.
that was me 45 mins ago, hence the chinese delivery.
lol
we dont have ANY delivery where we live - oh, how I envy you
smart hurshy. i haven't ordered food for myself alone in years, literally. more likely to whip up an omelet. but i really don't want to do anything at all right now. not even go look for my purse to find the money to pay
my supper tonight will be sloppy joes when son gets home from track
this is the first place i've lived that had pizza delivery - i think the second place where i've had chinese delivery.
i didn't order it for myself, i made my husband order it for both of us.
Hi Bojazz
there you go then, hurshy,, husbands do come in handy sometimes
when we lived in the city, we had no money for delivery, now that we live in the country, we have no delivery - go figure!
hi - time to go get pretty and try to catch this girl i've been anxious to see... :)
fried chicken, peas and mashed potatoes for supper here
once in a looooooooooooooooong while...
of course, i could have ordered it myself, i just don't like trying to comprehend the chinglish.
got leftovers - love leftovers
brb - got to stir the sloppy joes
there is one chicken breast left
hope it works out Bojazz
well - we have Mom (good Mom) serving protein, starch and veggie, then we have Mom (bad Mom -that would be me) serving sloppy joes - no starch no veggie
my sweetie is seeing a nutritionist ... hence the supper
catching up on chog - GO BOJAZZ - have fun
and you are a very good mom and I love sloppy joes
yo. diving in. want to go to bed by 9ish.
and you are a very good mom and I love sloppy joes
Hi Feather

lol, hi hi hi
ohhhh, nutty, i've got a good one for you!
a good hwan
nick, aka percy, is in love with all things thomas lately. except, he has a slight speech issue, and is hard to understand. try to imagine what it sounds like when he says percy. now, imagine he's holding a percy fork, and saying "eat percy."
doug was cracking up so much he had to leave the room that night
hmmm....maybe you should spell it phonetically for me what he's saying
because i'm not hearing it in my head
think kitty cat. percy.
he doesn't really pronounce the r. and the e sounds like a u.
aaaaaaaaaaaah!!!
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
LOL, by george i think she's got it
george probably eats percy
lmao, perhaps!
i don't know if it's wise for cheap chinese restaurants to have this in their fortune cookies: "The memory of bad quality lasts longer than the shock of high prices."
ooooh, no, not wise!
grid was going fast. will go faster if i shut up in the chog. *muffling self*
won't be as entertaining Feather.
hee hee, i try
i prefer an entertaining chog

I doubt that
i bet my wicked would surprise you ;-)
can you sing the songs?
not that wicked...i've never seen that wicked
nah, I doubt that
not much surprises me anymore
Hello all. ((Nutty)) Your Penguins let you down.
Hi Scrabbler
Hi Mom
hey ya scrabsy boo. at least you didn't go blaming my boyfriend too.
back, hi scrabs!
Our Sabres didn't even make it past the 1st round.
Hi feather
you have to expect the penguins to go to playoffs...they have fire power
I am surprised that Montreal played so well.
hi again. someone just rang my door bell unexpectedly..can't think when that happened last
hi doren
Hi Doren. So who was it?
Hi Dorens.
JWs?
they're a canadian team...i would expect them to always play well
oh, a woman who lives up around the hill, hadn't seen her in ages, she was going for a walk and asked me to join her. i probably should have
our primary is next Tuesday, the doorbell is constantly ringing
how nice! you mean rejecter you.
hah.. no hurshy, but you're right .. that's who it usually is
that was so sweet Dorens
i am just in a funky mood, not good company right now. i really should have though
that doesn't happen out here, not enough votes out in cow country
I am stunned at the people coming around
ok, most of the words i missed ended with ee - so, look for words that end with ee
k, good tip hursh
thanks hursh, good advice
i'm stuck on the second row, right side A
thank you Hurshy
i am seeing lots that end in ic, too
the earlier clue Feather is garlic mayonaise
me too feather, glad you asked
Hi Hurshy
i always miss that garlic mayo... and i love it so much
TY, Mom
you're welcome
I have never seen it before
shoot. don't recall that one. gotta work on it.
yes, i forgot my manners.. thanks mom
it's great for dipping asparagus and other veg's into
I had to google it Feather
I am watching Jeopardy--Tournament of Champions. There is an exceptional smarty pants on tonight.
I knew what you meant Dorens. :-) you are very welcome
i'm watching xfiles, season two
aha, got it. knew there were a mess of vowels in there.
glad you got it Feather
went to google too, lol
nothing on here to watch
The nephew that lives with me has been rewatching the X-Files. As I was falling asleep last night I heard strange sounds + screams from his TV.
creepy scrabs
i grew up wanting to be scully
Yes, feather! At first I thought one of the rabbits was screaming in pain, then I realized it was the X-Files.
oh gosh!
Nut, I wanted to be Mrs Mulder.
ha ha ha...rabbits...and if i was scully, i would have had mulder at my disposal
Nice plan, Nut.
plus if i was scully, i'd be a hot looking red head. i wouldn't be dying my hair red.
which would mean i would have a shot at mulder
**Gasp** that is not your natural color? :-)
ha ha ha ha
how about brown and grey...shhhhh
i'm a red head nut, and it's not all it's cracked up to be
lol
oh poo...its nearly 8, i still gots to total gym it and shower
exactly halfway!
I was a red head in kindergarten, then it turned mousey brown, but now is silver
it's nearly 8 and i still have to eat dinner.
congrats Feather
Go Feather! I need 138.
**sending leftovers to Dorens**
88 left now, my favorite numbers.
95 left here
you're lucky it turned brown, mom. mine stayed red till i was 53.. then started losing color... red doesn't turn grey, it just fades into nothingness (thanks for the leftovers)
i need three. and i am not finding them, so maybe i'll go make that omelet i've been thinking about
*loving the 8s!
wow, I didn't know it did that. You're welcome
only have 1 8 so far
make that 2
i need an E from the tile by the J for NBT
en + anagram untruths
No, Mom, Feather + I are weird with numbers--I like symmetry + even numbers. Must stop grid at even numbers or 0 or 5.
then anagram that
Uh, oh, just got texted. BRB.
lol Scrabbler, I do that as well
great clues, Doren
hee, and i can't go to the list right now with 101/83
i do the 0's usually
thanks Dorens
ah, got one, ty
now I am at halfway ... do I go on or do I quit? hmmmm
go, mom, go
clue, please for the last in6/21
bug
sorry vlcl, I don't have it, but will help you look

(ignore, typo)
congrats Dorens, and you're welcome
Congrats Doren!
yay doren!
Feather--congrats on your bingo in Scrabble. I was expecting it.
I will play until I get 100 then go do something that doesn't require sitting on by rear end
yeah, i kept my good tiles each turn till i had a chance to play it. sometimes that backfires on me though.
any clues before i go?
no thanks Dorens, I appreciate it though
nah, going to list soon
ok... time to feed myself.. see you folks tomorrow, or later in lexulous
bye bye Dorens. {{hugs}}
Must go order pair of shoes from Cabela's

Apparently, I am.

how so
well... the enitre show lacked any of the characters we like...
yeah, but it explained a lot
the stones meant nothing, and adam and even are uninteresting
bahh
but it was cool to see how the brothers got on the island, the start of the others, and how we got the smoke monster
still don't know the brother's name though.... jacob and ?
esau
which is apparently not a word in the grid, in case you wondered
it should be esau, but they never said that, did they?
hmm, no they didn't
i assumed it was jacob and esau from the start... once we knew they were brothers and one was jacob, but I don't think they ever said his name
which is interesting
35
very. which i have now sent to the grid box 3 times.
53
my last one... ra4/4 babblet
are you listing?
had it already
yeah
cheater
lol, yeah
tired, want to go to bed by 9
i just woke up from a 2 hour nap
nice
39
you'll pass me
cool.
Heyas kids ..
hiya tor!
Hi fellow LOST fans. So who do you think will be the candidate?
i'm $4 bucks away from the halfway point on my project
seems they're lining it up to be jack, but ugh. i'd rather it was hurley.
hello all!
hey all!
hi stid!
I like Hurley too because he has always been the one to see the big picture and care about people.
oops. slow connection. LOL
Great to see you stid.
BUGS!!! I TAUGHT TODAY!!!!!!
are you talkingabout LOST?
yay stid!!!!
I think it will be Jack tho becaue he is the one who is committed to staying.
yep, we are
we can stop
:-D I am proud of myself. The teacher whose class it is wasn't there, and I did it with a substitute instead!
I had a great time.
What did you teach today stid. Tell us all about it.
Oh, I don't watch the show, just wondered if that was where I knew those names from/
what grade?
bahhh, getting tired of the grid
My student call me Dude and it makes me feel like I look like Hurley.
LOL thanks Bugs. I asked the students to write a short descriptive passage, and so I did a micro (smaller than mini) lesson on what descriptive writing is about and why I thought they needed practice, then I took care of the class's questions and kept the focussed (mostly).
8th grade, language arts. It was GREAT!
rofl bugs!
one of the kids called me dude today...
lol, that's cute
Great plan stid. Kids need to learn in little doses but have lots of time to practice
today was a pre-assessment so when I do three whole days of teaching in a row next week I can be more certain that I am asking them to do work that they are capable of doing.
dude
yay stid!
Hi nrkii
and next wednesday when I teach again I will do a whole day of poetry....
DUDE, nrk!
Hey dudes! I am back for this not-too-fun grid.
that kid, he stole "dude" from me
katrina was commenting on my use of "dude" the other day, about trying to explain it to someone who is dutch
I took posession of dude last week
Dude ..
be prepared for groans at first and then they will forget how hard they thot it was
Hey torgone.
hi scrabs
the "usual suspects" refused to do the work, and will get the usual consequences. *sigh* I had hoped they would at least TRY, but they are not in the right headspace for that.
Tor!
hey cousin-dude! and tor-dude!
Middle schoolers are tough, very tough.
I am not hurt though by students who won't do the work, just sad that they aren't making use of the opportunities to learn.
I would not want to be in middle or high school again.
yes, they are scrabs. That's why I am thinking of working with them. I won't get through to all of them, but if even a couple are helped, then my job is working
kje fall into the grid?
poetry for middle-schoolers...
what if you asked the "usual subjects" to write descriptive paragraphs about how much they hate English.....
I wouldn't want to be that age, but I completely know that if they don't have strong, interested teachers it makes it so much worse.
I've got 22 to go here
So many lack interested parents, sadly.
I wouldn't get anything out of them at that point either. These are students who may or may not have an actual ODD diagnosis, but that is what it "feels" like to me.
would like to pick up a few more before I list but not sure I can get there
I hated my own middle school years and now I love it because I never want any kid to feel the way I did
29 here
many of them actually were doing some writing, but didn't turn it in.
go feather go!
22 here
ooh
I remember in 10th grade
bahhh
117 to go..will go to bed after The Office is done in 45 min.
my English teacher passed around the lyrics to "King of Pain"
as our poetry lesson
better type fast...
Hi kje--cough gone yet?
hey kje!
ok, time to start begging.
the darn ae word?
ae + spy agency
not racing. too bleah-ish about the grid to want to race.
ooh, doctors on board...
ty
Scrabs or KJE, should I let 2 isolated cases of vertigo that happened one day after the other worry me?
Grr, I never see that word in grids...but now I do see: asea, feta and others that used to elude me.
I think not
mostly, scrab... couple times/week I'll get a fit, but much better! thanks
The doctors are in!
I think allergies = sinuses = vertigo
want to drive and ODD kid nuts? play the Opposite game with them. for instance, if you say stand up all the kids are supposed to remain seated but the ODD kids loose track of what they are trying to do the opposite of and bug out ;)
diabolical bugsaw!
the strange thing was that the 2nd instance of vertigo happened while I was walking, and that's never happened to me... I literally lurched to the left all of the sudden
freaked me out
funny, bug!
ooh nrkii. not a good feeling
Any meds that could cause vertigo? Positional changes? i.e. vertigo after standing up? Any headache? Any head injury from klutziness? Any visual symptoms? Well-hydrated? Anemic?
it went away quickly ... I just had to stand still for about 20 seconds
nrkii... in the midst of congestion or an URI, an isolate case is not concerning. If it persists or recurs, let your doc know.
kje, that's what I figured... I'm not sick with URI yet, but the allergies are kicking in and I can tell the back of my sinuses are bugging out
so I figured if it happened again in any sort of recurring way, I'd go to the doctor
in6/36 please?
it was very freaky having it happen while I was walking, but I still did the little glance around "did anyone see that" move
Or get the Fisher-Price Home Brain MRI Kit.
I like that idea scrabbler!
take a decongestant daily with your antihistamine during worst allergy season and see if that helps, nrkii
27 left, and want to go to bed in 6 minutes. not gonna happen.
in6 - what you do with heroin in the vein
I take singulair every day... can I combine something with that?
or a shot of penicillin in the ass
(oh, and flonase every night)
Using a nasal steroid +/or antihistamine, N?
ty
quitting the grid.
if you quit, who will I race against?
I saw a Law & Order episode the other night--guy had tertiary syphilis and his brain was Swiss cheese
yes, you can combine a decongestant with that
ack!
i really want to see what it's like to go to bed early for once, lol
scrab - i work at parkland... law and order has nothing on the cases i see
nrkii, have you tried letterblox against me yet?
okay, gonna get me some sudafed tomorrow... the good stuff that I have to sign for :)
It's wonderful, Feather!
yes feather, and you killed me at it
hee hee, oh, right
And as an internist you see far more pathology than a pediatrician. Vaccines are putting us out of business.
I'm terrible at the timed games
except for on quote puzzler
i need to lure stid into it sometime, the way she races me
Nancy, I have stoppped Honey Comb--maddening + causing loss of neurons as well as patience.
LOL Scrabbler, I think most people feel like you about it
I don't know why that puzzle fits my brain so well
i like it, but takes too much time!
It just pisses me off and I ask myself why I am working on a puzzle ALL day when I am not having fun.
ALL day? oh, I never take more than 30 minutes on it, and most days not more than 5
as soon as it starts to aggravate me, I enter a solution and move on
And Triplet Scramble + Scrambled Word make me crazy but I try them anyway for good laughs. I have gotten negative scores many times after staring + drooling.
Last wk I started winging it with HC and getting decent scores.
lol scrabs
i'll do more quote puzzler once summer hits again
LOL ... I hate it when my brain goes blank in the middle of a puzzle
too many games, not enough time
10
it happens to me on top letter some times
26 and holding forever
10 here too kje!
I do look forward to QP everyday though. Maybe I will start winging it with HC again.
my mom went home today
108 and suffering from Babble Blindness.
might as well... not like you lose stars for playing... just make one solution and go with it
went home?
Distant thunder now audible! Big storm coming!
jealous about the storm
home from where kje?
6
oh good kje
Triplet whatever is my worst game--word order is beyond me.
I like triplet, I don't like the 5x5 grid one
2
home from the hospital
*holding breath for kje's fireworks*
oh that's great!
What happened to your mom????
FW!!!
did you put her there with worry?
yay KJE!
Hi everyone. glad Mom is home kje.
yay kje!!!!
way to throw in that mom in the hospital distraction right at the end
YAY kje!
Wooo hoo, kje!
ru - kiss my ***
Hi Red
I've still got 5 left now
*smoooch*
Hi ruru
seriously, is she okay?
LOL - yes, i thought it was clever, nrkii... enough to get me over the line before you! LOL
evil genius!
she is doing well... had to go to the OR, but is home now, my dad made her postato soup for dinner
that and the stupid se8 hung me up
potato
What the heck happened to her, kje?
*pictures postage stamps floating in a soup*
Well, I have 75 left, so everyone is beating me.
2 to go now
113 ..
hope they are forever stamps
se8 clue please? Actually I have no 8's or 7's. This grid is challenging me.
scrab - the weird case I told you about last week was her... right hemicolectomy
Oh, my!! Small cell? Non-small?
ocean + choo choo scrabs
what was weird about it kje? i think i missed something along the way perhaps
se8 - ocean choo choo
snap ru
Yikes, kje.
NSCLC
gmta
TY for se8--is that a real word?
Initial dx 2 yrs ago?
she got a little tired of every doc who walked in saying "this is really unusual"
So what is next, kje?
heading out to dinner at Martini House...see you later... glad your mom is out kje.. did you buy her a postage scale to weigh her?
se7 please for fw
likely nothing
enjoy ru - have a good martini for me!
No other sites found? Prior chemo?
Ra4 is here--thunderstorm is closing in.
se7 - se + 3/4 eye part + 2/3 frozen H2)
sorry - lousy clue, but I am not feeling creative
no chemo
got it, thanks
weed?
((kje's Mom)) Stay tough.
yeah?
woohoo nrkii!!!!!!
ditto Scrabs
Iris, pupil, lid, cornea, uvea....
congrats on 1/2 way!!! that is awesome!

lol, i put my classroom pic up and now can't tell us apart. will go back to my feather B soon. was playing.
not 1/2 way in the grid... wow, that would have been snotty - LOLOL
I am seeing so little in this grid. It started out bad this morning. 103 to go.
not halfway yet. $4 short.
yay feather!
66 here. and errrr. slowing.
alright I'm going to badger people again
but close!
but you have lots of time left... it is going well!
I'm off to fb, to kick a little butt for feather
kje, my very best wishes for your mom
yeah, i can't believe how quickly i got to almost-halfway

Bye Nerky
i mentioned the project in my class newsletter, we'll see if that brings anything in
bye nrkii!
it is because you are loved, weed
(and thanks!)
i'm still trying to figure out who joanne is. have an idea, but haven't seen her to check/thank
should go check that list in babanon that links to real names
all i know is babbler, joanne, texas
I know Joanne of Toronto = Babbler.
OK, I am off... any clues needed before I poof?

hi Pini
hiya scrabs
OK, I passed halfway. 96/88. I officially dislike this grid!
hi [inik!
21 to go here and I'm not too fond of it myself!
hiya red ;)
Hi All, anyone need clues before I go to bed
first ma6?
Good night all.
ma6 - with intent to harm
night scrabs ;)
sweet dreams scrabs
my babble expert died on me, then there was a phone call.
or ma + nasty little head bugs
hiya stid ;)
Now I need to get some schoolwork done... though I would rather just babble.
thx MNH
*decides to ignore schoolwork a little longer*
I dont have babble expert - does it help that much
it's wonderful, MNH! :)
(if you're on a PC)
stid, how was your teaching day?
guess I will have to email the powers
it does for me, mom. with my limited playing time (less than an hour total most days) I wouldn't ever finish without it. But when my goal is just to get halfway and NBT it's not necessary
so sometimes I just play on my cell phone...
does it download on a certain PC
because I play at both work and home
no MNH...any PC (not MAC supported yet)
me, too, MNH
there is a link, and you can use it on any machine you like (though depending on office policy they might not like random programs showing up?)
would I have to download it on both
yes, but as I recall it's a zip file and fairly small
probably, MNH
<-- agrees with, stid
just got a new computer at home - was waiting for that to email lickety
very cool, MNH (liking pini's abbreviation)
but didnt have email until this week - didnt come with outlook - had to buy it
(phone - brb)
I feel the love
we use gmail for most of our email -- free and as reliable as the others as far as I can tell. Outlook is not one of my favorite programs.
any other clues needed? I'm dragging tonight for some reason
we use the email through our internet company so need outlook
oh, I see. that's pretty common I guess.
I also use Gmail. never had an issue. But I also get an address via the high speed company I use.
I am not in clue territory, though if you want to toss me one of the 8s I would be grateful!
we have cable company addresses, but between the domain host we use for our websites, the sites we administer, the school-required email (which I forward through gmail)... I prefer to pull everything down in one place.
se8 - locomotive on the ocean
Hi all. Dropped in to get my last 10 during half-time of the Celtics/Cavs.
clue for 8's would be nice, I only have one.
Could I get a clue for the en6?
hey wht!

errr wht!
hm.... se 8.... *thinking*
The Celtics were up by two at the half.
al8 - little people from outer space with double vowel plural
only 2 wht
oh! LOL got it!
I am rooting for the Magic of course in the end....
they bring a lot of cheer to poor O town.
another excellent clue!
thanks MNH
The C's were up by 10 at one point. But it didn't last.
li8 one who obtains permission from the state to drive a vehicle
got it again! you give GREAT clues!
tr8 new employee learning their position plural
the celtics are the better team me thinks. but of course, the Magic are going to Sweep it...
thats it for the 8's - heading to bed - happy babbling ((hugs)) to all
good night MNH, and thanks much for the assistance!
thanks MNH! (((hugs))) see you next time!
Of course Red, whatever you say ...
that would be tomorrow stid - night all
Well, I dont really know, I am not really good at the Basketball analysis. Cheer for the Orangemen and the Magic.
Last year during the big part of the economic down tunr, Orlando sufferred incredibly with foreclosures. the Near winning Magic gave a lot of people something to smile at.
So, I cheer for them!
I'm not a great sports fan. But it does get a little crazy in the Spring around here when both the Celtics and the Bruins are in the playoffs.
I follow it only a little, my Father is Basket Ball crazy, for college hoops.
Clue for the se5?
se 6 is a type of net for fishing
it looks like a river in france
TY Stid, that was awesome.

*yawn* SO. tomorrow I am a grad student, but today I was a teacher! And we all appear to have survived.
you kin doo it, flosey! :)
yeah stid!!!
* always knew you could do it *
one of our new students came for a visit today...
But I am really tired! LOL was fine while there were kids in the classroom, but by the time I got home, I barely had energy to walk down to see the garden before I needed a nap!
Stid does that mean you are close to becoming Ms Stid class maam?
...I didn't know he was one of our new admits. I thought he was an undergrad just asking questions (and a Freshman at that!)
next week, I get to teach THREE days in a ROW! And all the planning is my bit, too. It's a little stressful, but it's okay. Way better than a desk job! LOL
What level?
You did great, stid! * proud big sis smile *
gee, thanks, stid...I resemble that desk job remark! :/
oh! LOL pini. we have a few grad students who are young enough to be my children... which means, of course, that I am really old more than that they are so young... *sigh*
who are you asking, herin?
Sorry Stid what is the level of kidlets you are going to teach?
One of my grad students is about 3 months older than my daughter! :/
no no no... I mean for me, personally! dealing with recalcitrant 8th graders is LOADS better than dealing with wigged out suits and snarky constituents...
May I please have a clue for sl5-12 the 1st? Thanks
phantom: naiad
my last desk job was working for an elected official...
oh, in that case, stid...* sigh of relief *...I work with a circus of clowns!
that's an intriguing phantom!
O joy teenagers (Great job Stid you get my clap teens are so irritating)
se8 clue please?
sl 5/12 #1: a piece of an applie, or pizza portion?
aren't any suits in my office...just a bunch of big red noses!
it's not a fish, but it's a nymph that swims like a fish . . .
LOL lady! yes, they can be. But then, adults are annoying to teens as well. We give as well as we take
se8 = submarine (so to speak) [underwater transport]
thanks Pini, looking
se 8: aquatic locomotive, flo?
Wow....thanks stid....can't believe I didn't see that one.
<-- Ring Leader!
Gods the kids in my class need a smack upside the head and one of them is at least my age
I'd like to thump a few of mine, herin!
by the middle of the evening, I am just lucky to find babble at all! LOL
I thank all teachers as they do a great job
and that is definitely the fellows. sweet dreams and happy days, all! I will let you know how the auditions went tomorrow...
*poof*
too bad they have outlawed beating up the kids. Joke!
night stid!
Book I wouldn't say that as a joke. I say it is a damn pitty that teachers can't boot kids out of the class at adult level. I have only one teacher that says look you are late don't do it again,, look you are late out
yeah, I actually told one of my student workers today, "OK, so I won't be you to a pulp, I'll apply some creative discipline though!"
er...won't beat you to a ...
ah, got it, thanks
see, that's why i would never want to be a teacher. trying to control people who don't want to be there. not my "bag" at all
<-- thankfully not a teacher!
I love how one of the 19 year olds bemoans how bad discipline is at her age. It is funny to hear a teen say how embarrassing her peers are.
no doubt, herin!
theory: teens "act up" because they are biologically adults be are still treated like children, which causes rage or frustration or stuff like that
good point, gwen
I lost my rag at one of the students yesterday when he was making these noises with the computer then said after he was moved it still happened. I snapped at him what a load of B.S. then quickly apologized for being rude.
No Teens act up as there is these hormones that make them want to go and kill things. That is my b.fs theory
you lost your rag? i like that phrase
never heard that phrase before...rather cute
*sneaks in, disguised as tom* BOTH kids made it into conservatory orchestra for next year!!!!!!! (we don't usually find out for another month, but they told tom on his way out the door....) *zips around chog proudly*
Sorry I forgot that you guys don't speak OZ
gee, i hope some of us didn't get *those* hormones or we'd all be dead my now LOL
congrats stidkids!!!
I don't mind learning, herin! :)
btw, there are many reasons that people of all ages act up... like for example... MID-life HORMONES!!! *sigh*
STID STID STID that is fantastic.
and now... I depart for real, as myself, and very proud mama and *yawn* you should have seen tom's face when they got home, though. he is pleased as PUNCH! *poof*
congrats to the orchestral prodigies!
jumps up and down in excitment
Pink to lose ones rag is to get really irrate
