yes jill -- had a short sleep last night after only 5 hours the night before. Want to have some brainpower tomorrow to finish grading papers and doing a statistical analysis followed by a narrative describing the work I did. *heavy sigh* too bad it will be AGES before I get to use the information! LOL
rather like algebra, stid?
If I am on task in the morning, I should be able to spare 4 hours to go to the Mark Morris dance in Seattle.
I like algebra! LOL it's the endless paperwork for this class that is killing me! :-D
(((jill))) *leaves choclits for everyone -- they're guilt free and tasty!*
see you-all soon! *poof*
Oh, I know you like all maths, stid -- but do you get to use algebra a lot now?
12yod runs out of gas, but not without distinguishing herself by getting fr5/20, and ha5/22
hm. seems to be a night of constantly rumbling thunder.

pickled crabapples - did you do them jilli? My mum used to make crabapple jelly
no, pav -- pie would be too much, crust and all. Diet, y'know!
'tis why I have a jar of apple pie filling...
A friend gave me a jar of her pickled crabapples for my birthday :)
I have a small crab apple tree at the bottom of the garden, and the blossom has been lovely, wonder if I will get many apples off it? Evening/morning all :)
hi FM!
hi fm
hi FM
Hi FM
We had a crabapple tree in the 50s and did get fruit -- made jelly, delish.
Greetings jilli, Andree, lynxx, Pav et al!
good morning everybody
HAve a feeling it will be a race between me and the birds as to who gets the fruit first.
Hi there ruby.
morning Ruby
hi ruby
AAAAH, crabapples. They don't seem to have them in France but it makes the best jelly. I make currant, but it's not quite as good.
they are so bitter
sour, not bitter.
possibly not, as I remember they are very hard
hi ruby
how is everybody? We actually have spring at last although the roses and peonies, just now starting are a month late!
sprite is not going to like 11 x k words when she arrives. Hey ruru.

I have one K so far...
Im only just starting on the grid so haven't got to the k's yet - as usual I am working backwards.

<<<< needs personal assistant
Hi folks.. need some advice. My computer is kaput.. crashed again, so I'm going to get a new laptop. Any affordable favorites to recommend?
I'll be yr PA ruru
everybody needs a personal assistant! or a wife....
hello aloy! sorry for your computer trouble
you are on FM..
Hi Aloy - my Dell has been performing well
wow.. I have 120 already
ty ruby, I do feel lost without it.. am borrowing one for Babble.. hi FM! my computer was a Dell Inspiron.. but six years old
my son has an Apple and is not bothered by viruses, but I don't want to pay that much
smart ruru -- and funny
Dell, HP, Acer all good names and with warranty etc you can't reall go wrong (famous last words)!
like my dell a lot and they have decent tech service
LOL ruru I have actually worked as a virtual PA.
am discouraged about the lack of virus protection.. my programs just didn't keep the bad guys out
I use sonic wall and no baddies can touch me...neeener neener neener
Norton or MacAfee are the best and eastiest to set up for anti virus and have good firewalls too.
my kids have apples and no virusses either
macafee uses too much of the computer and slows it down
will probably get another Dell as hubby gets a discount... sonic wall? am not familiar
Dont forget that if you get a Mac you can't use licketys expert.
no spam either.
<<< doesn't use lickety/expert
*slaps ruru for being a big head*
ooh, good point, FM.. but I don't think I'll be plunking down the big $$$ for a Mac, as nice as they are
*reeling*
I use spamfighter and norman sandbox virus protector. both seem to work but I'm computer illiterate :(
<<<uses lickety's rookie
*passes ice bag to ruru and apologises* :)
***oooohh my head***
i use norton and also a program called mail washer which i love because you can actually bounce spam back from whence it came
Don't be a wimp!
* youse wants a piece of me.. are you talkin to me? *
that's a nice idea, andree. I tell husband to do that with mail he gets from his previous wife, but he won't
that's a nice idea, andree. I tell husband to do that with mail he gets from his previous wife, but he won't

I'm back in the Uk at the mo. Waiting for permanent visas to come through. Should be within the next fortnight or so. I hope.
Ohh so you are really going for it then?
looks like. ;)
Good luck and wish you all the best. must poof now.
and will you be writing that book
Yup, still ongoing. Lots of media packages and a current mire of sponsorship and corporate BS.
as long as you can plough through the bs and find the good stuff
thats the tricky bit. Fun tho.
the internet never ceases to amaze me, you can move to another country and keep playing with the same people
I keep telling people: the world is not a big place anymore. Segregation seems to be ingrained into us for generations, but there is no need for it to exist anymore.
back.
hi lynxxx
Hi Dachef - nice to see LA hasn't swallowed you whole
hi lyn. Not yet....few nibbles at the ankles mind.
That lu6 sounds much better than its meaning
ooh yikes yes
I'll have to remember that the next time somone declares themselves to be lu6. It's NOT boasting.
morning all - any small clues for the 8s please
st8: marine animal that lives in the sky.
not from me, sorry - but Hello
hi kazzer, i have 32 left and no 8's as yet

there's 2 cu5.18...one letter difference
TY
ok..ive decided... if women have to go thru hot flushes...society aught to be able to accept middle aged over weight sufferes running around in just a bra on top...
that is even more obscure than the oyster bed
a bra and nothing else!
ooooohh oysters... cant wait to get back for those..
well no...im happy to keep light traousers on..lol
rolin, the young ones run about 1/2 naked so why not you
whew!
andree...i think the clue is in the 'young' part of you question...lol
cos it gets you thrown out of Tescos. Believe me - i know.
lol..did you see some woman was thrown out of tescos for being in pj's
there is a story behind this - waiting Dachef
dachef, i thought in L A anything goes
nope. censored by court order.
ooooh...quick...use email dachef..
I kind of admire people who duck out the front gate quickly to get something in their pj's or dressing gowns...it reminds me of long ago. Mind you I don't do it!
gotta go, but before I do - quite note to Sarah Ferguson, if shes online: If I was you, I wouldn't go to Paris for a bit. And if you do, avoid tunnels.
byeee!!!
You know - they just nip down the shop to get the morning paper - they sort of forget is is morning peak hour and they are on a main road
bye dachef
bye Dachef
what is Sarah up to now?
is Tesco like Wal-Mart?
I think it is the main GB supermarket chain
funniest i ever heard, friends husband very much the worst for drink got up to go to the bathroom in the night opened the [supposed] bathroom door which closed behind him and found himself in the hotel corridor without a stitch of clothing on
ruby - yes. And Ms Ferguson sold her ex-husbands contacts to a newspaper for £500,000.
those are both hilarious!
I think I'm safe here!
she does keep putting her foot in it!
defo gone now........bye again.
byo dach!
just watered the veg garden; I don't think I'll get a single tomato this year!

well that is not bad as sometimes we can be about 6 months apart esp on US progs.
Am watching Inspector George Gently. Martin Shaw is a dishy man as well as a good actor
Not really Ata - I don't think of it as Dr Who anymore but enjoy it as a very good prog.
FM then you are like us and at the whim of rude people that spoil series

I got a classic the other day. Blah blah blah show TFB I spoiled it
good afternoon all
Sprite

Lynxx we blocked our fire place with the couch

phew finally the sun has gone from the office - I can draw the blinds and start cooling things down.
I have MRI scan tomorrow so will then find out what I actually did to myself
much better, FM
Best wishes
*keeping fingers crossed for Ata*
Fingers crossed Ata, do let us know asap.
yes,do
should get the results tuesday
what time is the appt?
3pm I think. The ligament *should* have healed by now, at least that;s what they are expecting to see, so I should be able to start proper physio
Good luck hun((()))
BRB
that sounds like proper progress
I am sure you instructed your body to do at least that :)
we shall see, but it's nice to have an oficial step forward!
absolutely.
Ok must go now and study.
good lu4, lady, and will be thinking of you!
Bye Infernal, good luck for tomorrow. Don't stay up too late though
good morning Babblers :)
hi Nono
hi Nanette
hi Nono!!
goodness all the regulars that I haven't seen in so long. Good to see you all
back in a sec
Thanks I don't plan on staying up late
Hi Nono!
already I am not finding this grid to be very friendly
hi FM!
and back :)
wb sprite
it's not 'quite' as bad as yesterdays
hi guys i have had my dinner
was it good, sandy?
We are all still kicking around in babbleLand but given the time zones we don't always bump into those babblers we would love to see more often.
hi Sandy
true FM
it was good and hi sprite and nan
I am the flying Dutchman... woman. Irregular intervals of appearing online ;)
yesterday's was foul
I liked yesterday's, but it had a nasty brick wall around halfway.
todays is better and who knows what tomorrows will be like :)
Ata I didn't mind yesterdays grid there were a lot of words that led to others
tomorrow's could easily be 600+
today I am finding there are words that are not in the dictionary
now that would be a record!
I do prefer the smaller girds - I find the big ones just too much.
Sprite, I couldn't finish the 500 because the site wouldnt take my t s , I was not happy
I love the really tricksy little grids
then again, it could easily be 20- words too
aw sandy, that sounds frustrating
20 sounds good
300 is nice for me
don't thin we have ever had a 20 word grid. Was the smallest about 32?
so do I, Ata. Those real puzzlers.
32 or 35 ish
I seem to remember some grids between 20 and 30
yes the little ones are usually quite meaty
ah well you have been a babbler a bit longer than me spritey.
according to lickety the smallest ever was 30
perhaps before Lickety, and otherwise I am mistaken
I think Licketys records only go back 4 years
and have jsut checked out my details - I will have been babbling for 5 years this August *faints*
Does anybody here watch Doc Martin?
yes about that lynxx. How long has Babble been around?
and babble was our game long before all the lists and help sites... long before prodom existed.
aren't those shoes, sandy?
haha , its a charming tv show , Sprite
Marigold started 2004 so at least then
30 Sept 2003 is the first day of Babble.
Sprite, how did you come across babble - I got the site from one of my Tangleword friends
ah i see, Doc Martens are shoes
Mitch in fact everyone, how did you find out about Babble?
I remember when I started and how everyone was so helpful
I found out about Babble through friends who found in mentioned on RObin Hobb's website waaay back when
friends of mine told me about it and said I would probably love the game, but wouldn't feel ok about the chat. The chat could be rather curt and even unfriendly sometimes, they said. I loved both the game and the chat.
A lot of us UK players joined as a result of a small article in a weekly paper 5 years ago.
I had found Iron Sudoku first and followed the link from there about 3 years ago Sandy
My daughter found it somehow and showed it to me, played every day since
I played here more once tangleword went kaput, I always like the chat
I remember when Dr_G was beta testing this new morat and a lot of us hated it as it was so different to the layout we had got used to.
I am amazed it was in the papers
morat *giggles*
*format not morat *
lunch time! bbs!
later Ata
TTFN then Ata.
I remember that too FM. What on earth were we concerned about
in the early days it was played by people who really went for the puzzle. Chat was often no more than about 10 entries a day. The helpful attitude slowly grew and with the new layout and then prodom things became big.
bye Ata
bye Ata *hugs* No overdoing the walking yet, ok?
and BrandyJAck was the only one that gave us a list .... *ahh those where the days* :)
dear BJ
not the only one, FM. Before BJ many people made lists, after finishing themselves or with the help of some tricks and solvers. I know I often did. Even had a page on my website just for that purpose.
gosh, that was before my time then.
there are two things I still don't really like about the lay-out. The cursor, that should jump back to the Add Word box after chatting, in stead of staying in the chatterbox. And the tile stats. I really liked the first letter stats, not knowing from which tile words could come.
when did Babb Anon start Sprite?
think i played for a good month without paying any attention to the chog as I was not one to get involved much online. Then I started paying attention a bit to the chat and learned about lickety's list and saw how helpful everyone was and so friendly most of the time
when i started in 2006 it was Angelsong's list that helped me, but I didn't get fireworks for ages
I really don't know, lyn.
I have to laugh as I remember when I first started I wrote down things like lipstik tree and crwth and so forth - now they just get found so easily but how come I still miss etna and eros?
certainly was there in 2006
you and I started very close together lyn
i have a couple of words like that FM one of them is iron, for some reason I just cant see that when its in a grid
lol FM, different thing! We learned an awful lot of words that way. The crazy words like crwth were emphasized in chat back then, people did not volunteer loads of information because they did not want to spoil things for the others.
but not spotting words is something else entirely. I mean, vowel words? Always elusive. Not to mention K words, grinnnnn.
Am glad to have babble - have made a good few virtual firends though it and met up and cemented real friendships with several.
am glad to have Babble too. No IRL friendships yet but to some of you I feel really close, even though we have never met.
I think the thing is that after having babbled with a group of people for years you know if someone is genuine or not.
have missed everyone so much lately as I didnt have a lot of time to play but now things will settle down and I will have more time than I know what to do with probably
I think that is true.
I do too
it is lovely to have you with us again, Nanette. Are they good changes or bad or somewhere in between?
Well you knowbabblers will be here Nono :)
yes FM that is true.
have to go bbl
Bye sandy
bfn sandy
hello again
Think I shall away for a while and read the Sunday papers whilst lunch is cooking.
sally ds told me about babble in Dec '09
hi rubyfoo
hi Ruby
later FM
Hi and bye ruby and TTFN all.
I was a little bit intimidated by the chat at first, but now I love it and feel accepted
hi hi no no
hello sprite, how are you feeling and do you have sunshine?
bye FM
bye FM
this feels like a bunch of friends
feeling a bit blurred around the edges, took a late sleeping pill and had some wonderful hours of undisturbed sleep. Looking out of my window I see blue skies, lovely sun, beautiful trees. I will babble and then go out with Terra.
Thats 40 left for me. Think I'll go curl up on the couch with Stew. Bye all
bye lynxxxx!!
woot lyn, good job. Cuddle Stew from me and *hugs* to you. Enjoy your evening.
bye bye Lyn
I don't even have half, but I stopped being concerned about rankings a couple of months ago
the vowel words are always the hardest for me
never gave a sh4 about the rankings. Care intensely for the game and the community.
yes, you are certainly right, sprite. But I was an old scrabbler, and scores were much too important
and this is definitely a community!
vowel words are hard to spot for most of us, I think? I know I find them elusive at best.
lol Sprite i hadn't seen that sh word here thanks
lol yvw Nanette ;)
but they don't accept it the Irish way
but try making it longer and you will find two more words
(a 7/8 combo)
looking, thanks sprite
monkeys are still exhausted from this orning!
hehehe poor beasties. Make them some banana and pineapple bowl, rubyfoo. Works miracles for mine.
found them
yay Nanette!
rubyfoo, I have also found practice makes a difference. I am dutch born and raised, and yet if I try a boggle in dutch, I am not half as fast as with Babble. Somehow my brain has learned to watch for english patterns.
that is funny and wonderful, sprite. it is interesting how often I miss the French words, even though I speak more French than English now (not with husband, but we don't talk much!)
exactly! It is a funny thing, the way our brains seem to work.
but still can't get the sh 7/8 combo... :((
I find scrabble too easy now, after this
morning all, help with lone A pls
morning periwinkle
part of perfume, peri
ty ruby
nbt

hiya Annie!
hi Annie
Hi peri, spritey, Nono!
ty, now nbt and one short of half!
hello annie
hi ruby!
nbt here now, guess i just needed to concentrate on that :)
don't know what it means peri, but take the sh4 before it and add my state without the U, does that make any sense? I live out west in the US
me too, no no
good cl4, ddb4nana!
sounds like what you might say when you stub your toe, ddb!
ty
happy if it helps...
lol ruby!
half! yay, now I can take a nap
ty dd but have not idea which sh comes before it, will keep looking
bad word! ;D
or sh** happens
I looked up sh 7---it's a tree (Old Testament)
a swear word peri
oh...didn't think about that problem...
nice, annie
don't know anyting about swear words :)
peri, are you a saint?
just learned that one today!
when you step into it, the thing you say is both an exclamation of irritation and an accurate description of what is under your shoe
LOL, sprite
like walking through a mine field.....
ah how right you are Sprite
ah, got it now, was using the past tense of the sh4\
ty
hardly a saint, Annie
and the daisy doesn't work!
no but dropping the last letter will help
just teasing you, peri
help with other 8 pls
help with other 8 pls
didn'[t see that, sprite, thank you. And so to siesta!
enjoy your siesta, ruby
enjoy rubyfoo
later ruby rest well
ty, other 8 is st4 + ocean creature

or, ocean creature in the sky
great clue, ruby
ooh nice one
ty annie
ty ruby
morning everyone
morning Sea
Hi Sea
hi SeaSpray
name that proper noun: capital of saudi arabia!
yay Ata! All the wondrful things your brain holds!
St.Periwinkle, guardian of all Babblers has a nice ring to it tho :)
hi there Ata-Hari
riad
From now on Saint Periwinkle it is. I like that
sometimes holds :) Riyadh
mornings
well I am not Christian, does that matter?
but how will my guardian understand me if she doesn't know swear words?
St. Periwinkle...it looks good too
hmmm, good question sprite, will hve to start studying Dutch swear words :)
hiya bonkler
you will just have to teach her Sprite
hi Bonkler
oh now that I can do :)
Hi Ata, bonker! Ata, good phantom
I have the ocean creature, clue for the other 8 please?
poo + the US state U*** , plural
bbl
sh8----the usual babble bodily function and 3/4 of a western st5 starting with U
its a 7/8 combo Sea building of the sh4 swear word
and plural it
oh, ok
*crawls off to sin bin*
*puts chocolate in the PB for sprite*
sounds like a snob calling someone names
aw Annie, thanks!
lol Sea Spray!
what a weird word!
It's a tree
thx cluers
is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it is supertree!
my husband is a timberman, I am going to ask him if he knows this tree
old testament tree. The thing we learn from Babble!
mine is too, SeaSpray, or was originally anyway. Will ask too.
or.... no, I don't think so, on second thought. Timberman? That is someone who puts down trees maybe? Mine was a carpenter... but dutch for carpenter is timmerman!
lol sprite timberman harvest trees yes, interesting that a carpenter is a timmerman
Carpenter is good :)
related words having gone different ways, apparently. I like it :) My hushand has never heard of the tree, btw. Just asked.
he is still most happy when he works with wood. He does amazing work with young unemployed people nowaways, but I wish he could go back to woodwork!
is it pronounced like it looks?
timmer just like it looks, man with a dutch a, which isn't like ay. More like ah.
Ata, have you seen recently? Akri was in the grid.
awwww!
always nice to have a taste of Ash
oh yes :D
Good Morning all
Good Day Babblers.
morning Boobear
hiya red!

Hi Mom
morning Nono
doorbell, bbs
bye bye Annie
back Hubby's computer alarm alerted him to a trojan horse and he didn't know what to do
how sweet of you to help him Sprite.
Mom: I am ok! Feeling better than in ages. Finally getting some results from years of therapy and treatment, I guess.
ouch those trojans are nasty
I am so glad to hear that.
I love him. Will always help him if I can.
How long have you all been married?
14 years this year. 16 together.
That is so sweet.
Still newlywed then/
lol was thinking the same thing Mom
14 years is an excellent start. may you have many more years with him Sprite
morning Sea
morning Mom
lol. I beg to differ. We went through hell together, with more difficulties than most people face in their lives. We can easily count those years double.
my husband of 42 years just passed away, and I feel so lost right now
so sorry Nanette
{{nono}} I am so sorry.
oh Nanette, am so very very sorry. Like a hole in your very existance... ((((Nanette)))
Sprite, and you two are still together. That speaks volumes in today's world.
sorry to hear that nono, you poor thing,
I am sorry you had difficulties though
Life is hard sometimes for all of us
it does, Mom. For better and worse, through sickness and health... we both say we are now ready for the better and the health, grin.
and the richer part as well. :-)
I pray that part finds you Sprite
I do wish you good health. You have had a time of it.
I appreciate the good times so much
yeah, that too
hello!
Hi Sandy. How true, it can disappear with just a jerk of a rug.
Hi Science
hi sg
Nanette, I hope babble can help fill in a tiny bit of the loneliness and the lost feeling. At least there is always somebody here now to keep you company. And to listen to you, if you want.
hey sciencegeek
it comes and goes mom, and I always think I am lucky whatever happens as there are so many people worse off
I second that Nanette
Oh, just read down the chog. Nanette, I am so sorry for your loss.
that is why I'm here spite. To feel the friendliness of this wonderful group of babblers
agreed Sandy.

Hello everyone!
thanks for the clue Sprite
thanks Sprite
I have 20 left
I think crying is a good thing to do. It relieves the tension and literally cleans poisons from the body. Let it flow.
this isn't too bad of a grid today.
Agrees Sprite
I am sorry interrupt the conversation, I need to get ready for church and just need the center A for NBT please?
hi car.ee
no apologies needed, Car.

hi Minski
Minski*
shoot ....
i have 4 left and i want to go to bed please help! ka4/8 second one and ka5/18
oh Sandy, I don't have any KA words
noooooooooo
ka4/8 felines
I have only on ka4/8 - felines
ka + half of a british good bye ** - **
Why is it that my husband can put his dirty dishes in the sink but can't put them in the dishwasher? The dishwasher is right next to the sink. You don't even have to move to open it.
{{Une}} good morning
tx nono :-)
morning, mom :-)
pl that for the 5/18
whoo hoo nan, thanks so much
ka 5/20 - like money and add one vowel - cereal thing
hi and bye Une
thanks Nono
same here Min...my guess is they must think that putting them in the dishwasher is like doing dishes
thanks Science
just zipping by -- off to my mom's -- byeee *poof*
bye Une
bye Une
Minski, Sea ... mine does that as well, actually we both do, we never had a dishwasher before so it is a habit for us to put things in the sink
bonus round question - why can't they at least put some water in them in the sink - so they don't get all crusty til the fairy godmother appears to put them in the dishwasher
Hi JBV, mine will do that
maybe he can do a tutorial
oh, guess mine is trained, he does the water thing
one more
put newspaper over the sink with a note, sink closed only the dishwasher is open for business
great idea Mom
fireworks and I feel I have walked on fire to get there!
congrats Sandy
Mine is very adept at the water thing. He says you cooked so I'll do the dishes. Then he clears the table into the sink and fills everything up with water. When I check the kitchen before going to bed I have a sink full of dirty dishes and yucky water to deal with.
Congrats sandy!
ta now its off to bed-goodnite all and have fun
have you thought about leaving them, Minski? (I couldn't do it)
pleasant dreams Sandy
I do dishes in the morning when I have more energy - no problem as long as they're soaking
Congrats Sandy! It's Monday afternoon there now isn't it?
Maybe ask him when he is going to finish doing the dishes?
bbl have fun all
bye bye Sea
I usually ignore them and deal with them in the morning.
you could just wash yours and leave his in the sink, since he did say he would do them
my grandma did that
here's a question on a different topic - is there anyone out there who still goes over the bank statement at the end of the month to balance the checkbook? most people I talk to just rely on the online statement - I have not found any bank errors but I always check and reconcile to the penny
I like to do that as well JBV, it might be months on end, but I do like to do that
LOL, MOm - Ijust did 3 months this morning!
we check
i only check against the online statement
Could one of you please clue me on the far right i?
morning bo
hello all
i + feline
ty!
and plural
ok 68 left. should go do dishes, laundry, change sheets.....
have a fun day, Science
son has graduation tonight so I will likely not be back
I did get layed off from work
best wishes for son Oh no, Science, I am so sorry
so this graduation should be interesting. The school owner told everyone Friday that they had to take a 10,000 a year cut in salary or go part-time or be layed off.
wow!
I gotta go get some stuff done. I should be back later. Will see. TTFN
He wants an answer by Monday. I took his lay off on Friday
part-time = no benefits
oh, no, science - so sorry to hear about your job
all the teacher are totally freaked out. We dont have any benefits!
bye bye Minski
We never had any insurance
is this a private school?
Bye Mink
yes
science "" congrats to your son""
that is jaw dropping
private school owner knows nada about education
ty joanne
you should not have any trouble being picked up at a public school if you want to go that route
Hi Joanne
He also had the audacity to ask me to teach summer school. I told him it was not a financially sound ting for me to do.
gm all
ballsy
It costs me $48 a day to drive there and back - 50 cents a mile and my tolls He only pays me 15/hour
I am going to apply for a part-time job at the community college teaching the kids math - those are the low performing incoming freshman who cannot hack algebra, etc
science, you must be reeling from this news - and of course you want to celebrate your son's big day,
and sell my jewelry!
you will find something i'm sure
I am PISSED
the man is a certifiable a$$hole
there are also many private tutoring centers that usually pay better than what you mentioned
I am sure you are. I hope you can get the job at the community college
how long did you teach there?
Wel, I also let some of my students know this so they can hire me to tutor them next year.
I have worked there 3 years
I have 12 years science teaching experience at the high school level (taught college level physics for 4 of those years - IB programme)
I would think that if the parents got wind of that, they would be looking to place their children some where else next year
advertise in the upper end communities, science, parents are willing to pay tons to have their kids do OK in algebra, etc.
yes, I will - pay is about $75-100 hour
I know parents who are paying tutors $50 or $60 an hour
50 is great
(not where I work, but in the district where I live)
I have to figure out how to advertise for the tutoring....not sure how
local community newspaper - ads are relatively cheap
activate your network - former students, parents, etc.
yes we have that and there are other papers in the high end communities - great idea
Yes, FB
our youngest had a horrible math teacher in high school so we called the university and asked and they gave me two names.
I will also call my alma mater and see if I can get some tutoring there
if you know someone at that level, that might help
we did too, mom, but the university students are sciencegeek's competition and they charge less
most math teachers are horrible because they do not apply their trade as we do in science
oh no, these were not students. The one we picked was the meteorologist for a local news channel. He was excellent. Matter of fact he relocated to somewhere in texas
I think my dept chair is still at the university. there is one prof that I know is still there and he and I are friends.
really, I only need to make $2000/month and I am ok
that is an excellent idea Science
For some reason, I feel calm and relieved
come back to babble whenever you need a pep talk, science, you can do it!
I will be here a lot!
awww arent you going to get to teach marine biology anymore? :P
LOL ATA!
{{Ata}} hello
how is your leg?
are you going to see Tom Jones with Sunila?
and hi :)
Tom Jones, is he still around?
I walked about a mile and half this morning - with brace and crutches of course, but it was sooo nice to walk the pup

I'm trying to get up the energy to start my assignment that should have been handed in the day I bust my leg lol
{{Hugs}} to all of you

Right in front of my nowe!! Thank you so much
can I get a cl4 for sl 6/24?
sl 6/24 I think it's run-off of some sort. Add a vowel to what you do with a knife
sluice
Thank you!! Luv
oops
or sl + orange j****
thats it, Joanne
that's the one, Jo ;)
(i was using the wrong s)
or what i said lol
lol Joanne
sl6 is a type of v shaped trough to move water

that's cuz you're special, crossy! :)
don't have it, 67
i am quietly waiting to give my next great cl4
as 7 is clever or to be descerning
for which word, jo?
ty Pini will keep looking
on any of the ones i have lol
tyvm Annie
Hi4 = someone who lives in the deep country could be known as a hi**
well, throw 'em out, jo!
Annie - isn't that the as6 or are they related? I don't have the 7

Hello, Trif.

yes, trif
so we here trif
(in this grid anyway)
Trif, great photos..your son is a handsome young man..he has your features
thanks annie. I have gotten a TON of messages on FB from other girls about the dress, so that is a good sign. might be making even more gowns next year!
ohhh you made them trif...nice
You made that dress! I am impressed. Pretty girl also.
i didn't know that yesterday
the black and white one, and primo's vest. NOT to blame for the purple haystack.
lol
going to look at dress again..wtg trif
yes, the black and white dress is lovely. and yes the purple is a haystack. perfect description
Very nice dress Trif! I have a sewing machine and don't even know how to thread the needle. You are very talented.
I'm so glad you didn't make the purple dress. It took a lot of work but eeewww.
great pic, trif ;)
you must be very proud (of your work) and of the children!
LOL and she is a very nice girl, too! oh, she was proudy proudy proud in her dress. I think that is all that mattered. It was her prom, her dress, and she GLOWED in it. Big purple gowns don't resonate with me, obviously, but it was nice to see a happy girl.
and Primo's gal helped me design her dress, so it was EXACTLY what she wanted, and she didn't look like anyone else there. It was all good
Yes. She looks radiant in it. Like she feels like a princess and that's all that matters Iguess.
is licketys off today it says there are like six lu words?
no, it's right, peg
but I can just imagine how she will feel when she looks at her prom pictures in 20 years. Kind of like I do when I look at mine. I cringe.
but there are only 5
the biggest joke of the night was the "time poll" we took - all the girls got out of school around 1:30 to go to hair, nails, make up, etc. The boys started getting ready at 5:15 for the 5:30 arrival time. ha ha ha!
I wish my prom dress had been the one I wanted...but, noooo, my mom made one for me that she preferred :(
but on this board it says there is only one l word
Look again, there are two l.
there's another L at the top of the grid, peg
sorry
One at the top, one at the bottom right.
I have lost my mind
lol
off to secondo's game. hagd my dear ones!
it's ok, peg...after awhile all the letters look alike
enjoy trif
bye trif
All the Ls are there. All 5 of them.
Gotta go. BBL8R. TTFN.

Hi jmc
How frustrating. I know the first four letters of a six letter word, and STILL can't figure it out. Blah.

Time for me to run away for awhile. Hope to be back later and find the other 38. Happy hunting to all who remain!

If I can do it you can too - for sure.

*dances little jig*
afternoon babblers.
no blank tile (a word on each st** tile)
hi red
hey red!
thanks jmc
hi rth!
how is everyone?
hi red
st5/22 pls
good afternoon and hello to all
i am good. Got some plants in before the deluge
hi peri and jbv
my mom was also complaining about rain....we need some.
hi peri and jbv!
hi jmc - We bought plants on mother's day but could not plant them when the temperature dropped to 40 or so - now they're blooming - the rain helps!
st 5/22 this is a tough grid. it's easy to get st 5/22 on a word
it is good for the garden but not for the tourism industry
my zinnias that I planted as seeds in February now have 3 buds on them... I am rather overwatching.
hi peri, thought of you today - did you know the periwinkle plant is a precious source of an anticancer drug?
I love zinnias - so colorful
I did not know that jbv
I hope so.
ooo zinnias! i love zinnias
ty got the st and fireworks
yay peri!
article in The New Yorker on cancer research - May 17
what is the drug?
something with a V - wait i'll look it up
omg the orioles have a tying run on base -- must pay attention to game
go orioles go.
vincristine
ok, ty, JBV
now off to play scramble

thanks JBV. didn't have the base word either.
any other clues needed? I'm here for a bit before thinking about dinner....
re5?
red, do you have the st 7/32 - just add a vowel at the end
nm, got it
cook in oil again
oh no! tie game!!
senators left in 1971 to become the Texas Rangers
oh my, you know i was not even aware of baseball in 1971 hmmm.
ok, go nationals!!!!!
we were still trading Senators cards well into the 70s
the Nationals came in 2005
there is a guy at the game who has a shirt made of 1/2 orioles and 1/2 Nationals
that's understandable, as the orioles were the home team for so long
he has an issue....
but he should be happy with all outcomes..
no redturtle i completely understand
I totally would wear that shirt. :-)
If Angelos hadn't been such a jerk I would feel the same way
hi words
I have so much to do today and the day is so close to over......
hello words rock.
Hi. I'm a longtime Baltimore fan living near DC. It's nice to have a team in both leagues to root for. :-)
there is that words
but when they play against each other I am totally a Nats fan
sh** two quick outs!
Uh oh jmc, why are not at the game?
LOL... I'm just the opposite. The O's hold my heart.
I sold my tickets and I had a meeting after meeting
someone wanna give me a burst of energy? please?
Only if you come and change my sheets and wash my dishes and prepare me for my first day of new job tomorrow...
*sends feather a double espresso*
hows the fundraising feather
DC is far kinder than I. Perhaps he will send me a maid.
i've been cleaning out the broken fridge for 2 hours i think. of course, that's with laundry and children in between.
$172 left!
:-)
Oh feather the fridge thing is no fun.
red, what's the new job?
11 hours at the relay for life yesterday, lots of walking and working, back by 7am this morning to help break down, errands with daniel, fridge, laundry, etc. etc. etc.
yikes! a broken fridge and extra innings!
Its the same as my old job, but I am happy because the pay is better, and it is 2 miles form home, so fast commute.
*shoves feather into a recliner and hands her a mohita*
rental in the garage, mini fridge in the dining room for essentials. free rental, it was under warranty
nice red
can't. laundry is wrinkling as we speak, and i DO NOT iron. gotta go fold and put away. thus the request for energy. lol
Ok feather, you may have some energy.
can someone clue the 8 letter words
or. . . . you could learn to live with wrinkles
st8 - lives in the sea
one is sh7 plural
sigh. better go. just wanted to whine for a while. no, if i don't do it now, i'll have laundry in baskets all week. past experience proves that.
good luck with the new job, red, -good news about the commute
sh8 - plural of sh7, which extends sh4
I dont have the sh7
bbl! thanks to listening to me!
yes, the commute is the best thing ever. Plus I have met now 2 people who work there and they said it was nice.
and the pay of course
sh**+headgear backwards
my new job starts on July - Lady of Leisure ! (sorry, but I'm really starting to look forward to it)
it is also associated with my gym so I now get a nice gym discount,
whoo hoo jbv!
sounds great redturtle
what do you mean by headgear backwards?
my brain has stopped functioning
think of the word that is the thing you wear on your head and then spell it backwards
there are a lot of positives. I hope I dont regret it....
so sh**(poop)+headgear backwards
thanks
JBV, I would like to be a lady of leisure, I am quite jealous.
it is still better than the last job, no?
yw peg and hi
not yet, red, I'm still working furiously - these last 6 weeks are quite intense. I want to leave everything in tiptop shape
I would think so. Especially based on what the gal from Agency told me, she really liked being agency there.
so are you working for a hospital then, or for an agency?
ok, I will hold jealousy until later...
so even if it is not a perfect job you have a shorter commute and gym discounts . . .
I'll be working for the hospital, I lik ehte insurance and paid vacation...
exactly jmc, I figured even if it was horrible, It will still be better...
insurance is worth a lot
