back again :) Morning all, and hi jilli. You will love my profile text, I think! I know I did.
I was just reading it, sprite -- thank you! And a beautiful example too.
just reading it and seeing all the lovely pics made me long to learn this myself. Wait, let me give you the website.
http://www.ikebanahq.org/
pictures and a vid to die for
I'll have alook tomorrow -- I've copied the URL down.
as I did with your mystery site. Thank you :)
You're very welcome! Have you read the Stieg Larsson books?
no can't say I have. Are those the books you referred to earlier? I scrolled down, but most of it was already gone
yes -- they're great and addictive. Too bad there will never be any more.
too bad indeed :( But at least there will be 3 books to read and reread.
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is the first book.
I've almost finished the second one, The Girl Who Played With Fire -- over 700 wonderful pages.
thank you! I so love mysteries, and reading, and english books. Sounds like a treat for me.
The third one just came out -- The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest.
why won't there be any more?
Well, they're English translations from the Swedish.
I cannot read Swedish, so I'll take the english, lol
The author died suddenly before they were even published. Very sad. Google Stieg Larsson.
I will, thanks jilli. How sad :(
so... how will I find enoff words today?
He was only about 47, if I remember correctly.
There's a movie now of the first book, in Swedish with subtitles.
lol that reminds me of a running gag we have here... The english saying 'enough is enough' mispronounced as if it were french: 'un oeuf is un oeuf', and then to dutch 'een ei is een ei' --> an egg is an egg.
that is really really sad. And the saddest thing is, it will probably push up his sales figures immensely.
There's a problem with that, too -- he and his ladylove never married but she was a big help to him for many years. His brother and father are claiming the inheritance.
am really sorry for his ladylove.
Time magazine ran an interesting article about him a couple of weeks ago.
I beleive she's fighting it.
*believe
did you see our egg joke?
oh yes -- very good!
:) It always makes us laugh, especially when other people go 'huh?'
47 found... this is a real tight grid, isn't it!
and the Dutch word for enough is what?
enough = genoeg
I have 48 words and not even nbt.
almost unpronounceable for you, I think. Two hard Gs.
no nbt here either
well, genoeg ends in eg, anyway ;)
I see our ruru is in the grid :)
lol yes. Though in dutch the oe is a single vowel sound, like the oo in book.
he is, and he is not valid. Tsssss silly enable.
actually, the pronunciation would be pretty close to: 'a nook', if you'd put a hard G in front and changed the k into another hard G.
and I always thought Dutch and English were related! Not very, eh?
they are, to a certain extent, but the pronunciation is very different!
I think the relation can be seen if you look at the words: enough and genoeg. Like ywis and gewis. So very close in form.
Oh, I know there are similarities and some words almost exactly the same, but not as many as I once imagined.
dutch is a very weird language, due to the longstemming international contacts. It is a mixture of the original roots, english, french, indonesian, japanese, spanish, yiddish, german, etc.
I have hit a wall at 50 words found. This is another toughie!
Well, so is English!
I am right with you at 53 and the wall. Still need 4 words for nbt.
that is true!
I love english. Maybe because of this, lol. Oh... wait, I must share something funny with you. Let me see if I can find it online as well. Was in the kid's paper last week.
Good morning, I have been reading your chog for a while now - please please tell me what nbt stands for.
so do I have 4 blank tiles. But it's morning for you and bedtime for me so I'll wait until my brain is brighter tomorrow!
No Blank Tiles.
thank you, it all makes sense now!!
wtg jilli! This is the URL: http://tinyurl.com/5e37xw
It refers to the Tile Stats under the grid. If you've been playing longer than two weeks without "turning pro" you won't see them.
hi Jivingjenny, it means we found at least one word for every tile.
Jivingjenny, you may like that URL too! It is a translation error, so funny.
Oh that's a riot, sprite! Of course Welsh is a real mystery!
oh yes it is, but can you imagine, as a firm, having made that sign? So embarrassing, lol.
ooooh translation error? i love translation errors. how can i get my mitts on one?
I don't think there is a chance in the whole world to learn welsh if you aren't born to it.
just check out that tinyurl in sprite's post, gort!
http://tinyurl.com/5e37xw This url, gortmold, right up in your alley!
I must be off now -- goodnight/morning/evening all! *poof*
sleep well, jilli!
extra LOL sprite, that's awesome
reminds me of those famous cakes iced with someone's name and then the words "and underneath that, write..."
http://www.cakewrecks.com/2008/05/cake -that-started-it-all.html
oh LOL that is funny too
gort, that is a funny site! Unintentional humour is so great :D
hi Sprite & Gort
hi lyn :)
still 2 more for nbt, 57 down, this is a tight grid
Speaking of unintentional humour ... http://www.spiritling.com/profile/avas ol/content/1227#t=profile_content;c=15 13
Yo-yo Master

oops, turns out it is a word tho
What does nbt mean?
http://www.spiritling.com/profile/avas ol/content/1513
Oh ty
hi everyone
awwww that is sad! That man is so awfully disappointed about himself... I cannot laugh, I really feel rotten for him.
hi Andree!
hi Andree!
Hi
samnz, nbt means No Blank Tiles, meaning we found at least one word for every tile.
sprite: I think it might be part of the act. Orly? Cool I need 2 until nbl in that case =)
actually 3*
wtg samnz! No I think not, look at him. It is hurting him on the inside, not just on the outside.
He puts it down to a lack of muscle memory tho! Come on, that's funny!
I need one more now, only the U with 4 words. I love this grid :)
I think that U must be very special, indeed the only one
lol I have no idea what the D word could be. Guessing it has to be dru... but after that I'm lost
I am a very soft case, samnz. When he says he is gonna give up some of that yoyo stuff, because he has't got the muscle memory, it makes me feel sad
it starts dw, samnz. It is a kinda uncommon word.
dh4 sam
sorry I mean dh, NOT dw!
lyn, thanks! Great clue :)
nbt thanks to lyn. 24 left to find.
Oh I found it, thanks guys. Must be a babblet lol because I've never seen that word before in my life
wtg sprite!
It's a type of boat. Good morning/evening all.
it is a babblet. It means: any of various types of sailing vessels used by Arabs on the east African, Arabian, and Indian coasts, generally lateen-rigged on two or three masts
Orly!
hi Haz
morning Haz, exactly.
morning everyone
hi Katie

Hello! Good morning, Katie.

You can get an in5/12 with exactly the same structure as well.

You're welcome.

qu7 chemistry thing - ends in zilch, zero etc
ty both :-)
yvw :)
i'm off for a break, see you all later
bfn Katie
See you later Katie
bye Katie
Bye Katie.
hi guys
hi sandy :)
Hello, sandy.
hoed
hi haz
hi Sandy
whoops i thought i deleted that but too late , hi lyn
hi sandy
hi andree, what is the weather like where you are? Nice and sunny here but chilly
your fundraising is going well, Haz! Am glad.
hi sprite
It is, sprite, thanks and I've still to tie down members of my family plus other friends.
Morning all. Clues, great, I LIKE clues !!
Liz!
lollll liz! And hi :)
Good morning, lizmac. How are you?
then my wish is going to come true, Haz
chilly here too but the rain has stopped, glad to see it come and after 2 weeks of wet weather very glad to see it go
My fondest wish is that George would be there at the finishing line, but he may have a busy diary.
Raining in N.I., Haz? I'm grand thanks. Just back from a week in Carcassonne, for those that don't know it, it's well worth a Google..beautiful.
We need some wet weather but the days are beautiful at the moment
Yes, it's raining here as well, liz. We've had a few days of sunshine but it's gone for now.
dinner is ready, early tonight, back later
hmz that would attrack a whole lot of walkers for sure
See you later, Andree.
bye for now, Andree
bye Andree, enjoy
Same as us Haz, but lovely while it lasted.
That's the problem, sprite, all those women might be a security nightmare.
here as well. Overcast and chilly, after a couple of days of lovely summer weather.
It's amazing how sunshine makes you feel so much better.
they will be, I am afraid. Can't he promise a signed picture to all who finish? Or all who donate? That might speed things up without bringing danger to him?
I'll have to put the idea to him. Good thinking.
so very true. Quickens the body and the spirit.
am willing to help with the mailing!
who is 'him'?
I'm still sun-lagged from holiday, so taking this very badly.
when it comes to Haz, there is only one HIM
chilled to the bone, liz?
I take it that Haz is running a fund raiser?
Help why am I getting the red boxes telling me my words cannot be added
George. And we're not talking Harrison or Formby.
sorry Norma, OK here
Indeed, Sprite.
Norma: that must be a connection problem or a malfunctioning server somewhere. Restarting babble might help.
I'm walking, sandy, definitely walking! 10 miles of a moonlight walk (starting at 10 pm) although it stays light so long here that it will still be light when we start out.
(control F5 on a windows machine gives you a force refresh)
that happens to me sometimes norma and it generally disappears after a little patience
*sends liz a suncoloured warm blanket*
Haz, will you be holding His hand, during this moonlight stroll?
Thanks, Sprite.
In my dreams only, sandy.
10 miles is a fair walk! I take it that you are looking for sponsors?
the sponsor page link is in Haz's profile, sandy
It isn't going away sandy lol
looking....
I'll actually be walking with another friend, sandy. Yes, details are on my profile if anybody wants to help.
Oh, I've just realised that rubyfoo will be pleased. Her dogs are here (ch4/10).
I lost a very dear friend to breast cancer, a few years ago. She was very young and it went very very fast.
so here's to regular mammograms
and they are both talking too
lol lyn
Off for breakfast. Look up Carcassonne if you have a spare minute, folks, well worth a look.
got that link haz!
bye Liz
Is "He" going on the walk Haz?
enjoy, liz
I'm sorry to hear that, sprite. The National Health Service offers screening to women between the ages of 50 and 70. This charity offers free screening to women who are too young or too old to come into the category. They're picking up 6 cancers per month out of 1000 women and then referring for treatment.
Bye liz - I've heard of Carcassonne but I must refresh my memory.
6%! That is a lot. That proves how necessary it is, doesn't it.
In Aus we can get free mammograms over 50
my friend was barely 40
6 out of a 1000 rather than 100, though.
oh, sorry, I missed a zero in my enthusiasm. Still, 6 promille is still worth it.
It seems the same as Great Britain Sandy, stops at 70
It is. I know that any government has finite resources, so I suppose we're stepping in to help broaden the service in the hope of saving lives.
that's all anyone can do
It seems breasts are too dense to accurately detect lumps under 50....but there is so many young women who are getting it. Surely something is better than nothing. I worked with a young woman, full of life, who was taken at 30. Devastating
am so sorry, lyn
That's awful, lynxxx.
fireflies. Thanks all, for the help and the company. Have a relaxing evening and/or a lovely day.
Well done, sprite.
good morning everybody
I can't support you Haz as all my support goes to our Cancer Institute here which does some wonderful research as well as treatment (as well as saving my life). I hope the your organization raises lots of money though!
Congrats Sprite!
Good morning, ruby.
hi Ruby
busy morning so far, met a neighbor whom I hadn't met before (in 11 years!) and we comared gardens. All in French and very nice.
lynxxx, I understand completely, I appreciate the moral support as well.
ruby, there's an easy word for you today. The clue is ch4/10 - Max and Ruby.
well I have passed Hursh's magic 14 so I must go and wash dishes BBL to finish
See you later, lynxxx.
it's intetesting about mammograms: I had breast cancer almost 20 yrs ago and after I found the two tiny lumps (one the size of a pea, the other, a peppercorn), the mammogram didn't see them.
I had to insist they were there and by the time the doctors agreed to remove them, I was stage 2A!
is the theme dogs? wo** and ch** hahah
No, there are horses and interbred big cats in there as well.
Back shortly.
fireworks
yay
congrats, eman and gd morning
half!
see any lurkers, later
hooray, i've just won on wordsplay
Hello
hello, herin
How you?
i'm fine thanks, but i'm playing babble when i really ought to be doing other things. at least its a small grid today. how are you?
Hehe. I should be doing other things too
i have to put in an insurance claim for a camera i lost last week. i hate paperwork.
Damn that sucks at least it was insured
yes. i don't know if i dropped it or if it was stolen, but it hasn't been handed in. actually i was thinking of getting a better one anyway, so i'll add something to the insurance and upgrade
just found two very strange ho words.
ah, they're Scottish. i should have guessed
i've just got 19 left. i shall tear myself away and do my horrible form-filling. bbl
good luck
ty herin. bye for now
Hi friends!
Oh... no friends online... back to the grid then
hi pinny, hello any lurkers. I only got to 43 words this AM.
Hi Ruby. I just hit 40 (words, not years)
I remember 40 years....
hard grid after the first 30!
Was it good? I've got a little way to go before I get there, but should I be excited about it ;)
my life really got started at 40 and my 40's were the absolute best!
I worried about 30, was happy to be alive at 50, but 40 and onwards were wonderful!
That's good to know! Mine had a good couple of years in my 20s, but then hit a downward slope
I left my 1st husband at 27 and the years just before and several after, were very difficult
Wow! You were married so young!
and, as far as looks go, 42-47 were my best!
married at 19! mother at 20!
Oh. My. Lord.
fortunately, I finished university or the rest wouldn't have turned out so well
That is so important
and it's nice to have a 46-yar-old son!
Goodness! Does he live in France as well?
no, he lives in Austin, TX, but just visited in May with his wife and his first CD
I am stuck at 48 words, will have to come back later and troll the chog for more
((pinny))
one, two, three, f4
morning Babblers
Hey Nono
hi Sam good to see you came back for more
Yep, tho I've hit the wall
this seems to be that sort of grid
Indeed
Sorry ruby - been called away - back in a bit
need the bottom w for nbt, any clues?
put it in a bun, smother it in tomato sauce and ketchup and you got yourself a hotdog
wo6 bread builds strong bodies in 6 ways.
good morning all
we6 is the bottom W
ah thank you sam
Clue for the bottom N?
For nbt
oops, I must not be awake yet lol or I just wish my word I clued were in the puzzle :o)
there is no bottom n
Well bottom-most N of the two
the lower n = alt spelling for not morning
mornin' all. Jean, haven't seen you around in a while!
gm darling, I'm here just not always vocal ;-p
hello Nancy!
Oh thanks. Found the other one in the process. ne4, a noble gas
also ne4, a gas using in lighting signs
Nonnie, that's SUCH a cute picture!
*tuts* lurking, Jean? ;)
ty samnz and Jean
Hi Jean, Nonnie and Nancy
gm nan, everyone else
hey, Nono :)
no law against lurking eh?
Thank you Nancy :o) She keeps me on my toes.
Nonnie your clue did get me a word tho I just switched out the fourth letter
true that, Jean. How are you, anyway? :)
wot's new NB?
Ahah, there's the Hawiaan Goose
Good nono! That was the one I was looking at when I made my booboo
me, I'm well enough I reckon
thanks again same i didnt see that silly goose
wow, I thought Sam was new - obviously not if he/she has already tuned in to that babblet ;)
this grid sucks pickles
sam is new, a quick convert
hmmm interesting discription Jean
a mild one for me nan
=D
and as for what's new...well I think I got an inch taller ;) and when you're my height, that is a BIG deal, lol
the top row almost captures it . . . turd
Ws whipped--winding my way to work. Wonderful whacky day to all :o)
bye Nonnie
as long as you're tall enuf to ride the roller coaster, what more do you need ;-]
see you, Nonnie!
almost, but ever that isn't available on this grid
Grrr, 27 left to go
words of wisdom from Jeanius, worth exactly what you paid for them
LOL Jean. Well, at least I'm that...but Leo is a full foot taller than me, so I have some serious catching up to do.
wow, a foot!
he gets to be the one to hold the brolly then
I know, right? He's a freak of nature ;) still...it's my ambition to be tall enough to get jars off the top shelves at the supermarket. Am I shooting for the moon here? I don't think so!
usually the the good stuff is within reaching distance, you think they're stupid? -D
Lol!! nah, we're vegans, we have to fight for it ;)
Nancy you need to shop in store like we have here the top shelf is used for extra product so everything is attainable
true Nono, but hopping over the Atlantic for groceries might be a tad extreme...
do you have farmers' markets NB?
well petition your store to do the same . They need to accomodate their customers
Good Morning all.
Morning Red
morning, Red!
could do, Nono, but honestly it's a good way to get Leo to come with me ;)
stumped at 23 words in!
ahhh I see well then leave well enough alone
its not exactly an easy grid Red. The small ones usually arn't
Aha! I just found a couple of words by going thru my word list and trying each word backwards
haha! awesome.
good thinking Sam
Thanks. I'm all outta tricks now tho. Hmmmmm
the "drun" is making me put "drunk" in over and over again. Feel like this grid is trying to tell me something...
Argh! I've been staring at this board for too long, it's making me want to drink. All I can think of is TEQUILLA!
ro
haha NB I like the way you think
lol Sam, Hi tceicher
someone said booze...
LOL Sam. Great minds think alike...
hey Crossy!
hiya, Crossy!
lol hey crosshair
howdy everyone:)
reminds me - I was waiting for the underground to open this morning, so I could go home, and I saw a guy pushing a baby's pram FULL of liquor, whilst a toddler struggled to keep up on foot behind him. Only in London..
no Nancy not just in London
lol nb,up here the same guy would be sending the toddler to the nearest store to buy some yeast and copper line for the still and telling the kid to say it is for a school porject
project
lol crossy you have moonshiners too!
Hello Babble Buddies!
Morning all!
hi Scrabs!
howdy scrabbs
Hello Sea
Hello
LOL! I couldn't figure out the etiquette for that one.
hi, Scrabbs and Sea!
We walked through the Babble gates at the same time, SS.

Mentally writing a shoplist now
the big footlong ballpark franks

Sometimes I wish I was an American, just so I could eat like one
Ballparks are my favorite, plain on a bun
*softly humming 'meat is murder'* ;)
hush now crossy! your not being very good to yourself thinking of all the things you shouldn't have
fresh relish, home made, a dab of ketchup and some sweet onion mustard

did you know nb,that scientists have hooked up electrical impulse devices to various veggies, and that carrots actually 'scream" when they get pulled from the ground? lol
I prefer food I can smell and salivate over
*still feeling nauseated after description of hot dog composition*
lmao crossy
did you know Crossy, that activists have gone into slaughterhouses, and...the thoughts of what they find there are competing with my hangover for which gets to make me more nauseous.
Carrot killer! Carrot killer!
lol, indeed i have seen it all nb,right from the "humane killing stick" to the grated sluice floors,to the drum for eyeballs
I'm guessing they probably found chopped up animals
so we better not go there lol
lets talk about this nice sunny day instead
and nb can make us garden salads in the sunshine
Just looked in the mirror. Crossy, yer conversation turned me from east asian to white, skin-tone wise...
Mmm avocado

My rabbits are so sweet. Tucker was so excited this morning when I went to the doorway of his room. He was running all over like a madman, doing bronco flips.
Ugh, 24 left. Haven't found a word in ages
i hit the first wall 35 in

It's like a leprechaun clicking his heels
poor nb,come here to my place and ill make you brekkie..what the heck can i make a vegan for breakfast?? bean sprouts and distilled water?..mmm..how about some oatmeal with peach preserves
and some nice sweet tater lightly fried in cold pressed olive oil

Hi Seaspray! How are you doing?
Congrats Car.
Samnz, thanks for the RU 6
hooray Car.
It feels like a major accomplishment today! LOL!
Np. It reminds me of Oh Brother Where Art Thou lol
did you work last night Red?
No, I finally had a night off.
good red, we have had hot and humid weather too but it has cooled off a bit, not complaining though as I love summer
:-)
I am not loving the night thing.
Its nice to have summer!
I think that would be a hard shift to work. But then I am a morning person
me too! At 4 am, I start to perk up!
daughter works nights, 7 to 7...don't know how she does it but she is a night person as I once was
and come 10:00, can hardly keep the eyes open :-)
p.m. that is
I'll be doing it for the foreseeable future...
must run and shower, bb in a bit
She also likes having off 3 or 4 days in a row
hopefully your body will adjust
bye for now Flosey
Well, I wont have to do 4 nights in a row ever again...that is for sure.
are your days set or do they rotate?
she self schedules so she schedules around her fiances schedule who works swing shift, I never know when they work and when they have off
Sea, that is nice that her schedule is flexible like that
I self schedule as well, but for a month, i am working with another nurse, to get used to the unit and I am so glad the nurse has become a different one.
very nice Mom, when she first started she oriented on day shift for 6 weeks I think red
aha, fireworks, now shower and rush!! see you tomorrow
I was so happy that they are letting me orient on a week of days. but then I go back to the dark side.
Congratulations Flosey!!!!
O_O
ok, must grab something to eat before furniture guy gets here, bbl and congrats Flosey!
bye sea!
Hi all. So why is chog not a word?
What is chog?
congrats Flosey
Hi Wht
bye bye Sea
What you are writing in. Short for chat log, I suppose.
Oh
it is "chat log" combined to make Chog Samnz
Sneaky
Because the Enable Wordlist predates most of our internet lingo, I guess :P
But I looked again and it isn't in the grid today after all, except in the parallel universe that my eyes sometimes present of the grid.
Anyone got go5/20 ?
lol wht
I don't Samnz, but will help you look
Thanks, I've been looking for it for ages. Doesn't seem to be there
Aha found it!
oh please share
g+ the two functions of a switch
thanks Samnz
well almost, minus one letter
sam it means theif in yiddish.
I would never have gotten that one
Hi MKG
In which country do they speak yiddish? O_o
Not Yidland surely
Oh wow you can look at the dictionary definition by clicking on the [?] next to words in the word list. How handy!
Oh Yiddish is a Hebrew language?
yiddish was a language made up of german, hebrew and russian by jews living in those lands
Ahh
no country ever spoke yiddish. the j ews in europe spoke it and the language of the nation they lived in. the jews made up languages
there was ladino which was half hebrew and half spanish, and several others, such as one with hebrew and arabic.
Interesting
yiddish is dying out now but the english dictionaries in the u.s. have yiddish expressions and words that entered the u.s. vocabulary like "kvetch", "schlepp" etc.
also words like "schmuck" which is penis in yiddish.
lol awesome words
schlemeil and schlamazel are also yiddish. where do you live sam?
clue for the bottom W?
dont have. sorry.
the middle part of a hotdog
The most important part
great clue. got it sam. ty.
aha so it is - tx samnz
I live in New Zealand
Np
thanks Samnz
Hi Dan
Yay, got all the Gs
well there arent many if any jews there so that is why you dont have yiddish words. in australia there are jews.
go sam go!
tern
oops sorry all.
{{MKG}} thank you
Yea, I don't think I've ever met a jewish person
sam I love NZ
Wow I didnt realize there were jews in Aussie
Well you met me
halfway for me, time to start the day. {{Hugs}} to all of you
So do I =D
hi and bye Bichon
off to office.
Oh well of course I probably have over the internet, but not much of the culture comes through text based communication. And I've seen plenty on the US TV shows that play on NZ TV. But have never talked to a Jew in person
comes through via*
We're much like everyone else, but with a great language.
lol, I only just got h4, the foot of a cow
Where in NZ do you live. I've been to the South Island
In Dunedin, yea the South Is.
Do you know John Key sam?
He's my uncle!
=P
I wasn't there. Mostly we were out of the towns and cities, but we did spend a few days in Q'town
Really?! the politician, he is of jewish descent
Nah, I've seen him on TV. Something to do with the government
We went to see the movie LOTR in Q'town and people in the audience were commenting "I know that place"
Lol no not really, I thought you were making a joke of how everyone in NZ knows everyone else because its such a small country
I didn't know he was of Jewish decent tho
NZ does have a small population of jews, you should check it out.
Oh cool, Queenstown must have been great. I love that part of the country
I bet most of the Jews in NZ live in Aukland
Probably
Most of NZ lives in Auckland
Q'town has good restaurants and is the jumping off place for adventures in the wild
Oh, by the way, John Key is your prime Minister
Yep, he replaced Helen Clarke
whew - I am relieved that you do know, was a bit worried when you said"something to do with he government"
Yea sorry was just being silly
I think I'm a bit over tired
you go4.9!
What time is it in Dunedin?
Well if I'm a g4.9 then you're a g6.24
It is.. 1:43 AM
I am so not an albatross!
O_o
Then you're an old f5.20
lol, this is true
lol
Mmmm, I learnt how to make a steamed sponge pudding in the microwave today
Thinking of making another one
For a 2 AM snack lol
you don't sleep?
Nah, I'm just a teenager and a nightowl.
Have always preferred being awake at night time
Actually, I don't really prefer it. I just dont get tired
That cause your internal clock is used to being up all night
That *is
Yeah. It's hard to get back into a 'normal
... 'normal' sleeping pattern again
Well I wouldn't really even say again, because this is how I've been for most of my life
Yep - I have a 26 yo daughter who is still doing it. Crazy. You miss out on so much that is happening during the day
I think it's probably due to a lack of self organization
Like I have no schedule that I have to adhere to
You are at school or work or in between?
Inbetween
I was studying
Well I'm off to bed - at least. Bye Sam, see you around
Yep was nice talking to you. See you around
I have 13 left, but I'll leave them for the morning

definitely personalized by Dr. God! hahah

and people here eat them!
tc ruby
((crossy))
lol,49 now,im just blazing along here
50! on a roll!
bye dear babblers
tc annie;))
is this easy as well as short?
It's mostly easy with a few headscratchers, jmc.
the big head scratcher for me is un7 since my typing it sent Mother spinning in her grave!
I can hear her yelling you cannot modify un6/30!
It is either un6 or not un6 and there is nothing else possible
I know. It's questionable at the very least.
Typing un7/44 has made you un7/44?
(There are two of them)
oh ty I had not seen that!
You're welcome.
am totally baffled by this convo.
convo?
oo what haz and I are talking about?
the un convo :)
Conversation. If something is un6/30 - it means it is special, one of a kind. It can't be more one of a kind, so un7/44, the comparative form is dodgy. un7/44 (the other) means disturbance - un plus not noisy.
my Mother the English teacher drilled into my head that if something was un6 (singular, one of a kind) it could not be more one of a kind.
I think I would have liked your mother, jmc. She sounds like a fine woman.
and yet it will not take noogie..the world is chaos!! aaahhhh!
she had her moments!
I know, but I'm sure she could use an apostrophe correctly, couldn't she?
absolutely.
she could spell too --- I sometimes would call her up to ask her how to spell a word
lol - I love this whole conversation. I was telling my son that un6 could NOT possibly be a word when you started talking about it. Then crossy steps in with his comment and had us both laughing. Thanks all.
As I said, a fine woman.
sorry, meant un7
in fact, when I was taking a course on reference library skills. . .
(you are correct ormal! -- un7 is NOT a word)
i believe that word will also work with est
not today but i recall it on other grids
we were given an assignment to find the names for different obscure items
like aglet
tryptch
one of the words we were to find was the name of the paragraphs that are quotes frequently in a foreign language that are at the beginning of a chapter in a book
I was the only student that got that word (which I have long forgotten)
Epigram?
Or epigraph?
Googling to find the difference.
epigraph
anyway the professor asked me how I found the word and I said. . .
Yes, epigraph.
I asked my mother
can anyone help me please with go5..20
But of course!
Dont you hate people that say 'almost un6' !! If its un6 its un6 - a one off
hello all
the whole class laughed at me but my professor was impressed and said a good reference library is not afraid to use an resource
I was able to grit my teeth and try un7 (the first one) and just be grateful for the space filled. But wo6 - now that one has me boggling, which is an uncomfortable combination with babbling!
oh no he's dead! he's a go5!
go5 - looks like a shortened version of a description of milk that's soured.
Love that clue Haz!!
Or go plus a negative two letters, finish with a high scoring letter.
hello evryone
Thanks, Deeha, hope it works for Rhonda.
Hello, trisha.
hiya jmcnrick......are you still coming to africa??
It worked for me!!
thanks haz
hi trish heln and aslindy and rhonda and deeha!
go 5/20 is, I think, another transliteration of a Yiddish word - in the US it's most commonly spelled with an "i" in the second syllable, and sometimes a double vowel at the end.
no ala trish I couldn't make it work -- I am only going to Keny and Tanzania
*alas
wo6 - Think of the old James Stewart film 'It's a w******ful life, but replace one of the consonants (it ends up with a double helping of a consonant in the middle.
*kenya
jmc, you're combining my 2006 and 2008 holiday destinations.
aw...that is a pity.would have been good to see you here
Got it Helen ...thanks
You're welcome, Rhonda.
I had hoped to make it happen, but it got too complicated and my friends in SA are leaving the week after I am arriving in Kenya. . ..
Perhaps wo 6 is from a liberace quotation.
Could I make a day trip from Dar to Durbin??
Got to run - big petroleum show here this week, must drop by - I wonder what they'll all be talking about?
I'd better head to the kitchen - time to get the spuds on! Enjoy the grid!
There is certainly no definition when you look it up so I think you are right Helen
back to the grid stone for me
no.....you'd have to go via johannesburg
well too bad then it was just a wild thought
Meet in jo'burg?
:) maybe there'll be another time
Where abouts are you Trisha??
I am probably just crazy.
\i am in Durban Deeha

Lovely. I have a sister living in Westville. I have been out a couple of times. I love it
yip jmcnrick...... africa is too big to hop about

like a huanted ho**
haunted*
why does the value jump so much between the ho4 and 5?
three times the score for each letter
point values are doubled for 5 ltr words, tripled for 6 ltr words, and so on
Hi everybody. {{{Rubes}}}} Thanks for the great clues, Crossy
aha, ty jessmom
soodle! yay
how are you?
np at all soodles;))
seems wrong but the math works out. will have to remember that word for scrabble with the family. they will challenge. ha ha ha ha
I'm great, thanks, Ruby. Had visitors all last week, then a dodgy computer, but ....Soodles back now :)
I'm checking the scrabble dictionary now
lol,i want one of those deluxe scrabble boards that are wooden and mounted on a lazy susan with the raised edges on the board
and I found a variation of the ho4 with a vowel at the end (in the scrab dict)
the in-laws have one and it looks nice
that's cheating, isn't it?
ruby- we don't have one of those, so we have used dictionary.com for years now. crossy- we have one of those :so nice!
I had to fess up!
now I only have 20 left
yaa for ruby!!
i have 25 left
need clues? I finished a little while ago.
I still only have 4 q's
im missing 2 r words still
get rubys q,s first
q5/16, q4/7 x 2, and q5/16
qu5 - last 3 letters sound like what you put a cremated person in.
ty ormal
qu5: shh! be qu5

ty ruby
ty ormal, that was my final q;)
re5: get again. re5: go back on
re6: make cheese from lining of calf's 4th stomach
re4: owed to landlord
re6: zoological name for white shark
that's my favorite word in the puzzle, it's the same as the Fr shark word
i do not know this word
and it's not in the scrabble dictionary!
re7: return on, pay back in kind, often combined with un*******d love; re4: an (old) kind of letter
q in the middle, crossy
re+ q4

hi miz
t/y.....i was w/ miz googling shark names.

go5/20: theif or rascal, also spelled in similar manners with different vowels.
un6= one of a kind..un 7 is more one of a kind
I only have 11 left, perhaps I can finish -- oh my!
you can do it ruby!!
i have 20 to go
I wish I was this motivated to do something productive.....
woo hoo, wtg science
yaa for science!!
wahoo science!
wow, science, very fast!
Ruby, I'm using the road construction crew blocking my driveway repaving the road as a good excuse to be lazy!
send them over here, after
lol,i also can watch hard work all day long
at least I cooked today
food!
and did about 5 mins of gardening......
this diet is hell!
guacamole and chili, crossy, and there are leftovers!
thanks ormal (yes, it took me that long to find it)
meat chilli?
Poor Crossy!
Hey, I had to use MoreWords to find that crazy word Miz.
yes but vegetarian guacamole hahah
Diets aren't meant to be fun, crossy. Otherwise, they wouldn't be "diets"!
very lean meat!
hi krysten
very ripe avocado
Anything with the word "die" it in, can't be fun!
ohh, next food freedom day im gonna order 3 pizzas!!
Hi Ruby
hahah krysten
but isn't that worse, crossy, like binge drinking?
actually im kidding,on the one day,i eat what i like, but do not gourge
my husband is on a heart-healthy diet all the time, but not me
that's good crossy, you had me worried
when i get to 70,im going to take up all the bad things the doctor made me quit lol
And really, i should know...my husband and i are struggling with the quintessential "lifestyle" changes that makes no one happy!
Just got home...and while driving home thought..."hmmm...I wonder how Crossy enjoyed his bacon the other day"...and here you are!
hello eeyore!
Hello!
it was amazing car,i did jumbo over easy egss in butter, has browns with valencia onion bits, peameal bacon with melted cheddar and cheese english muffins with apple jelly;)))))
you're killing me, crossy!
Awesome! Did you take time to enjoy it or inhale it?
My husband and I are doing the same Krysten, and I just hate the transition.
all depends on whether you eat to live or live to eat, I guess ;)
I think my heart just seized up reading that!
lol car,it was an all day sort of thing:))
Ormal, it is hard to get started but it really does work. My husband has lost 40 lbs and me, over 30!
I'm afraid that I eat to live because there's nothing that great to eat around here!
everything crossy mentions sounds better than anything here, except maybe the guacamole
good food donw well is a celebration of life and laughter with loved ones,i dont made food just to put calories of minerals in or out.i had this one friend who used to only eat thinbgs when her body was in crisis for a particular mineral lol drove me nuts
although un 7 is a word in Enable, it shouldn't be. How can yu have a comparative of a word that is an absoolute?
I've already started losing weight and we started almost 2 weeks ago. It's portion control that is killing my hubby. I started using one of those tiny plates for my meals.
that is the best thing to do! That's what we needed to do as well.
I'm a little bit like a pregnant monkey; I get very specific food cravings
she never enjoyed french fries, she ate it cause her sodium was crashing, she never ate beets for the taste, but because her hemoglobin was doing strange things lol
As well as eat breakfast and exercise more regularly.
I eat a good breakfast, however
Ah, stoppit, will you? I have just demolished a big dish of strawberries and fresh cream. Totally delicious, but murder on the waistline.
we bought bicycles since my knees are shot, and I have heel spurs I'm trying to heal.
I planted 12 strawberry plants this year and by next year should have enough to throw a babble party!
the rule i follow is this 'eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like pauper"
whatever works for you and your husband, ormal, it doesn't matter as long as you move. Great work!
Irish cream!
All but one of my strawberry plants died! :(
I use a treadmill for about 90 minutes a day now and hate missing it. Of course, it took me 2 months to get that far.
Soodle...your profile constantly amuses me
mine are really tiny and I have no idea if they'll survive next winter, but one has two berries, unfortunately eaten by a slug or something
Put my name down for the Babble Strawberry party, Ruby, and I will bring the cream.
Uhmmmm...how come "nooner" is not a word?
wife and i walk 3 mile per day nice way to burn those calories
Hiya Nancy :)
sounds perfect, soodle, and you're only 1 1/2 hrs away on ryanair!
what is nooner meant to mean?
it will not take noogie either
my husband walks 55 minutes, 5 times a week, while I lie on the couch and read!
well, it's ryanair, so it's a 1 1/2 hour flight, and then a two hour bus ride, and then a walk...
Yay. I'll start brushing up on my Francais.
oh ata, you are so young!!! lol
let me use it in a sentence..."my husband and I use to have nooners when we were younger"
it's better than lunch!
hahah krysten
I ride 7 miles a day 6 days a week.
we have nooners, but now they are at 3:30,after the power nap lol
And, it burns calories...just to tie the two subjects together!
great way to lose weight!
I don't know what a nooner is, but I'm guessing it's relating to either sex or alcohol ;)
I see .. I think!
nooners went when the hubby started working so far away... darn
ruby, I can commiserate with you. My hubby walks to work, 2 and 1/2 miles each way, in all weather. If he doesn't 2alk, he drives to the gym before work. I power walk, but it's not really enough
Then throw in the strawberries and cream...........
Gotta admit, better than bikes or treadmills!
not alcohol
The former NB
lol me too NB
no,that cream gets everwhere lol
everywhere
You speak from experience, Cross?
oh too funny
LOL Crossy! The strawberries are welcome though.
Crossy, try using saran wrap
I used to be a runner but can't do it any more. Would run for an hour, 3 times a week
indeed, and artificial sugar guarantees me a trip to get the wife monostat lol
use honey instead!! lol
Not to put too fine a point on it, but honey is hard to...ummmm...get out of hair.
but i digress, i still need 20...lol
I've lost interest in my last 10 missing words lol this chog is much more interesting
huh. Leo just walked in the door. It's like he has a little microchip that tells him when people are talking about sex...
I thought we were talking about desert!
This chog is getting as decadent as the last days of the Roman empire......
and falling fast! lol
togas and cheese fondues!!!
now remember,if you lose a piece of bread in the fondue pot,a article of clothing comes off and goes in the pile in the center of the dance floor
Well, as fun as that sounds, I've got to get back to work! Ciao for now folks and have a great day, evening, etc!
bye krysten, you've certainly livened up the chog!
just listen to that stunned silence ;)
Bye Krys
crossy it's not a basketball hoop.
with 10 left, good night everybody!
thanks for all the great clues!!!

Thanks, Knight and LA! Wasn't looking that way!
how can something be more un6?
hi all
that has been the question of the day jilli
Hi, jilli!
how can nooner not be a word?
Fireworks!!
I'm making a list of Manglish (mangled English)
YAY Jellen!!!
Manglish...sounds chauvanistic, lol
"It isn't, knight" quoth enable.
Jilli, have you read Anguished English by Lederer?
yeth, i knoweth. fireworks, and so do I
Yay, KT!!!
No, Jellen -- I guess I should!
It's painfully funny...examples of misuse of the language...
YAY KT!!!
What slays me is that if there's a right way and a wrong way to say something, so many choose the wrong way.
Look at all the people who "lay down" on a bed, when they've been taught at school that it should be "lie down".
yes, and the misuse of comprise when compose should be used
I need the te6/21 other than the length of service or? please
a number plus possessive we
thought for the day....
Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting ‘Holy shit…what a ride!
Thanks Knight
hi crossy!
howdy jilli
Hi, crossy...
hey all

Yay, jilli!!!
so what kind was it, crossy?
i still have 16;((
we 6 ??
in a case like that I put as many letters as I can in front of the ending to see what words come out. You do get some odd ones at times.
See 4:27, bekki

I kinda guessed that would be it, crossy. Sorry indeed!
no biggie
the second one was nasty cheom

that was a tad annoying
ugh -- related to the first in any way?
lymph node cancer
Tim had interferon treatments for 11 months...made him have flu symptoms the whole time...
bummer -- how many kinds have you had?
i know,it is nasty
3
But you're a survivor!
last was melenoma, just a few chunks out of this bog ole belly of mine, lol didnt even lose any weight on that one
Me too, crossy, but the 3rd was just BCCs and the others didn't need chemo -- lucky me!

That pic is 2 years old but I still love it! We blew it up and framed it.
Thanks.
I should think so!
Gotta go for now. Time to think about dinner. Will be back later as I still have 48 words to find and the Celtics game to watch tonight.
I hope someone will click on my Ikebana icon and admire it ;)
GO CELTICS!!!!
Bye minski!
Very interesting and beautiful, jilli!
before i had cancer,i was a type a,frappochino fueled asshole who missed much and wanted more, blinders on,always going for the brass ring, after cancer, everything i had missed, all the small pleasures came at me in 60 inch high def surround sound with blinders removed and i learned not to sweat small crap any more..was a good trade i think;)
Thanks on behalf of the artist, Jellen. As far as I know, only Sprite and maybe Minveryork and I posted Ikebana -- everyone else missed a treat!
Certainly a great attitude, crossy.
now back to these last few words
clues available...
I hope to cultivate your attitude, crossy!
Sprite posted a link last night that I didn't have time to go to, and hope to soon: http://www.ikebanahq.org. She says there are pictures to die for and a great video.

http://www.pokerlistings.com/us-congre ss-passes-antiinternet-gambling-legisl ation-9148
The amended version doesn't criminalize the act of online gambling, rather it prohibits American poker players from using U.S. financial institutions and their banking tools, including credit cards, checks or funds transfers, when depositing or withdrawing funds at Internet gambling sites. If the law is enacted by President Bush, it will become illegal for online gambling companies to accept monies from U.S. financial institutions.

ohhhh, what's that, JBV? :)
*waiting for good news*
did not know until today that I am entitled to be reimbursed for unused vacation pay when I retire - a nice little windfall!
Oooh, lucky! are you gonna save it or splurge it? ;)
woo-hoo! that will be a lovely thing. '
is the CH 7 fishy?
I can roll it over into a tax sheltered annuity, so that's what I might do -
so..you take no time off..collect and drop dead one day after you retire..live for the now jbv
Yes! but try c & h6
Washington state reimburses 1/4 to cash when you retire. Many people just donate unused leave to others who need it.
thanks lynxxx *thinking*
no, I can't take the days now, crossy, these are vacation days that are earned during the 2010-2011 school year, but can't be used until the summer, when I will be RETIRED!
ahh so you are close then
we have a cap on sick leave, and I will be getting the max since I have 90 days in my bank -
June 30 is my last day
:-D wow JBV! only one more year?
I don't have the H 6 yet.

Nef, I am glad to hear that he is home and that you have PT in place.

Good for you fuzzybunny. You can do it! I have 3 left

all right min! what are you stuck on?
Go bojazz go!
Nef, do you have a home health aide to come in for a couple of hours while you work?
wtg bojazz!
I'm going to have his 84 year old Aunt Jean come over tomorrow for company only. I think that may help
Nef, that will be a big help. Do you have anyone else that can visit with him as well?

I finished the grid toni4/4 so here is a story of clues I was a complete nu 4/6 today. At no4/4,on my lunch ho4/6,I babbled instead of socializing with the other teachers. I like to babble in my classroom where it is nice and qu5/16 with no husband to bother me.After having go4/6 shopping,I got home today after fo4/8 and reentered the words I found at work into Babble I almost qu4/7 because this grid got hard, but then I called upon those monkeys. My Monkeys were un6/30 today.Usually they are loud and un7/44.No4/4 of my monkeys were bad. They didn't go4/9 around today. They were qu5/16 obedient today and I did not have to hu 4/6 them. They were good hu6/24s & hu4/6ed for a lot of words. I think that I have re5/18ed faith in my monkeys. One of my monkeys was un7/44 than the others. He wanted to be rewarded with an Oscar Meyer we6/30 instead of bananas. After I completed the grid, I let them be ru6/21s and ru 6/39 to places unknown. Now I am available to clue.I think I need to ho4/5 my cluing skills. Then I'm going to look for some ch4/10 to ch 4/10 on. I still haven't eaten dinner yet
ty min got some of them now.
yw
dont get the monkeys were un 6 30 clue.
Thanks, Min! I'm pretty tired and brain dead tonight; actually, I've been that way all day!
min, you are hilarious :)
The un6/30 means to be different from the norm mkg
Thanks jesdraggon
Min, great story! You clued two that I am missing, but still couldn't figure them out. help please with re 7/40 adn the un 6/30 and the first un 7/44. Then go eat dinner!

sorry
go Nef!!!
Fuzzy, I think that's not so good
for such a small board, it is a challenge
And it's even worse if you forget to LOOK at the tile stats and keep trying to make words from the wrong letter! ;-/
i do that when i use more words!
I kept trying to use the wrong G and also the double O letters for words
guess I need to list. Not seeing anything any more
Hello...
I'll try to keep an eye on chat if any clues are needed...
Hi fellow babblers
Hi, beach
Heyas kids ..
Heyas tor
Hi Jellen, beach, and Torgone
What's good for a dry socket? My daughter is in pain after seeing the dentist for one
No idea, Nef...sounds very painful...
ugh.. dentists
I need to go, myself
Salt water rinse ..
She had a wisdom tooth pulled a week ago and has gone through the 20 or 30 of vicodin since then. He wouldn't give her any pain meds for it tonight. (and she's a PIA when she's in pain)
I do feel for her, but everything *I* suggest is wrong according to her
will that really help tor; or is that the usual remedy? I told her to try it
not really a whole lot to do for a dry socket. don't suck on straws or chew gum, that just irritates the hole.
she's been good about not doing either of those, lbd.
maybe she needs a shot of whiskey or twelve. *wink*
I don't know; for a minute there I thought of giving her a "shot" of my fist! She's 27 and was whining like a 2 year old
oooh, it's tough love time, Nef!
time to head for the pillows. see you all tomorrow!
I just told her that if she won't do a salt water rinse, sleep with either a hot or cold pack on her face and sleep sitting in the Lazy BoyI couldn't help her anymore
g'night, lbd
Nighters, lbd! Sleep well!
The five-knuckle sleeping pill could work ..
very tempting, tor. She's gone back to her room -for ow
for now (having a hard time typing tonight; kind of tired I guesss)
