FM, it's been so chilly and dull here that greenery is huge but flowers are still waiting for the sun.
wow.. wtg, FM !
but of course they are back fly magnates.
have come to a dead halt
oh, good for you. growing from seed is such a labor of love. And yes, the insects do love them.
my basil doesn't like this weather at all, but my lettuce is doing great
Oh really jilli? Is summer late coming for you this year?
I have a new rose and found aphids there today -- never had them here before.
me too, nan.. maybe I should hit the sack and look at this grid with fresh eyes.. I mean, there is NO pinocle!
i had better check mine, jili, i didn't look recently
we have barely begun spring, FM. COLD. DAMP. DISMAL. *sigh*
would like to find that co 7 first
herin reminded me of a great tip for blackfly - spray the plant with a mild mix of washing up liquid and water.
phew..got the pi8!
it's not familiar to me, nan, that co 7 was one i had to look up
I used insecticidal soap on the rose today.
what is blackfly?
that works well for many pests FM.
back east blackflies are ghastly tinies.
our water is ground fed, so i have to be really careful with the products
there are so many phantoms
we like to use diatomaceous earth (basically ancient sea diatoms)
stid, does that work for earwigs?
same for us, vashon. but detergents in small amounts (phosphorus free of course) should be okay. in moderation.
I don't know if DE works on earwigs, but the soapy water is said to work... have read about it for people who grow peonies. Which I haven't tried.
phantom: convict
I am really slowing down. stuck at 24 for ages.
I'm distracted by TV as usual
co7 1st 3 letters = camp bed + cons + 3 letter word forornamental garden planter.
I am distracted by bored to tears dog
as usual
and for the 8 add a vowel at the end
thanks FM!
aw, poor Lucky
great clues!
wahoo, tyvm FM !
phew, wasn't sure if they would work or not :)
Took me about 5 mins to work out how to clue them LOL
ty FM -- strange one to me
got them both! awesome
am certain I would Not have found those on my own..
I found them by mistake or should I say my monkeys did.
congrats to your monkeys, FM
what great monkeys, FM!
I had better buy them some extra bananas today.
"buskin worn by ancient Roman actors"... duh, what is a buskin? "a shoe"
ty fm
Back in 5, need more tea.
LOL Aloyisius! great vocabulary building exercise! LOL
sort of a tunic? Google will tell...
just found an ho 5/14 and on that note I'm heading off to bed -- lol
(-: thinking, maybe I'll remember if I look it up.. maybe..
there must be a wierd ch word
sweet dreams nan. see you again soon
I have 3 common ch's -- are there 4?
there are a couple weird ch words
g'nite nan.. see you next time
A buskin is a knee- or calf-length boot made of leather or cloth which laces closed, but is open across the toes. It was worn by Athenian tragic actors, ...
well I have three..and none of them seem wierd to me!
although weird tonight may simply be my migraine talking. I am pretty out of it.
I can see the buskins now.. lots of laces
not again, stid!
ooh, sorry for the migraine, stid.. hope you have some drugs?
yes, took as soon as I got home from the event (LOUD people behind me)
will be okay by morning. Just not really happy at the moment.
down to 20.
gogogo stid!
perhaps I ought to tu4 off the electronics and rest my eyes.
just so nice to be able to spend time with you-all!
school tomorrow, stid?
yup. that last ch was a new one on me!
no Aloyisius, summer classes begin Tuesday for me.
but it's 11 pm and I usually go to sleep no later than 10
ah, enjoy your break..
feelin' ch***! ch***! ch***!!!
it has been nice -- always manage to fill the time with activities that are NOT what I actually hoped to do, but such luxury to be able to say "yes" to opportunities.
I will have about three weeks off in August before I begin student teaching.
that will be the longest time "off" in a couple years.
you must have a lot of energy.. school + kids = hamster on the wheel pace..
well, the house and yard have really suffered this last couple years ALoyisius. I have plans this summer to address both, but we'll see what actually materializes. It might be that my needs will dictate some just sitting around.
And babbling of course... LOL my brain needs downtime
oh! oh!! I'm good at sitting around!
definitely, so.. you do a challenging word puzzle..
Sitting doing nothing is good sometimes stiddy.
then you may join me, m! we'll have a sitting around party... which reminds me to pi5 our get-together in August... Saturday Aug 21. In Olympia. We'll have a big babble get-together and just hang out.
tootie is no good? oh, it is tuti fruitie
laggards!
it's not the puzzle so much anymore, Aloyisius. It's the wonderful people who are here.
ruru!!
(-: I agree, stid..
tutti frutti, I think ;)
hey there ruru
ty jilli, that's it..
hi ruru -- are you rested up today?
jilli has it right
ruru! I'll laggard you... *picks up fisticuff gloves and then decides it's too much work and just sticks out tongue instead*

*Puts clothes pin on stid's extended toungue*
I'd play my violin for you ruru but I can't find it :)

(didn't see your clue, jenny!)
oh my. why couldn't i see that!?!?!?
cuz it zigs and zags, m9!
looked ALL around it!
19 left now
10 left here
does anyone have a clue for that ae6?
wtg m9!
pertaining to long long long time?
ty m9 -- and I should have seen that too!
but its US spelling doesn't count!
I don't think it's there...
yes it is -- you just take off the a
hmmm...
yer right. but it's not there!LOL
and though the us spelling of the short version is online defined.. the longer isn't really. I guess if you're going to use that form...you're supposed to be educated enough to know there's an a in it!LOL
what do you mean, it's not there?
I mean...it's not allowed...
morning all! jilli, you were so right about the Millennium books. I am reading part 3 now and enjoying it immensely.
not there on the lickety list
morning sprite! hahaha.. "millennium" ...
oh, right -- because it's not in the enable dictionary this puzzle uses.
hi m9, not sure what is funny about millennium, but glad you are having fun ;)
oh... just because of what Jilli and I were just talking about!LOL
the ae words
hi sprite -- you mean the Stieg Larsson ones! I'm still waiting for the third one -- delayed delivery to the bookstore, grrr!
argh, how frustrating! I ordered them with Bol.com, a really amazing online bookstore. But it IS a bit eerie, isn't it, how he writes about an author who dies before his book is published?
Oh yes -- hadn't thought of that!
it hit me when I was reading part 2 (m9: the author himself died before his 3 books were published!).
and i am half and half in love with Salanger. She is amazing.
sprite, I saw the movie last week -- in Swedish with subtitles. The girl playing Salader was fabulous.
wow. eerie
i just watched an NCIS episode kind of like that. but not really.....
oh wonderful, I will go see it too then.
Salader! No, not green -- Salander, isn't it?
Salander, you are right. I keep seeing salamander in my mind's eye.
Are short books discriminated against on the basis of height?
It was interesting to hear the Swedish pronunciations of names and places.
I had a very clear cold finger along my spine when the author in the book was killed. But wow, amazing books, so well written and such good personages... characters?
lol, babrab -- and hi!
characters, yes.
or width? Hi BabbleRabble, glad to see you.
thanks for the hint, jilli, I am enjoying them hugely and will be rereading them a couple of times in my life.
jilli are you still looking for the ae6?
Hi spritey sprite!
I have watched a couple of movies from Astrid Lindgren's books in the original language. So singsongy... very pleasant to listen to.
hiya FM :)
(()) how are you doing today?
is it a good day for you?
fireworks
hi again, FM
pretty good on the inside, more balanced and more energy than in years before. On the outside still black and blue and sore, so taking things slowly today.
wtg m9!
and firewords
Congrats m9!!!!
yayyy jilli!
oh and congrats for jilli too!
YAY m9!!!
and I need to get to bed! anyone want any clues before I go?
and you, BabbleRabble, how are you doing at the moment?
that was cool.. we finished at the samet ime!
same here :)
I like the way you say firewords. ;-)
Arnica (sp) is good for bruising sprite.
go to bed, m9, and jilli, and enjoy a lovely sleep :) Am ok, having fun plodding along through this grid.
it's an oldie, m9, from a typo somebody made ;)
It is an interesting one today sprite with a few real wild cards thrown in.
sprite, why are you black and blue?
am using it, FM, and it does help. But I fell hard on my knees, me not being exactly a fairy, and new black is still coming up from the deep regions ;)
I see -- you fell -- why?
(((sprite)))
She was hanging from the chandelier again!
thought I could carry a bit of old paper out of the house and then made a wrong step, ankle said oops and there I went
lol FM! Making monkey noises, of course... ook ook ook!
oh dear, sprite -- one thing after another!
I still have a graze mark on my knee from when I tripped down the stairs a coule of months ago - incredibe that I didi't break anything!
yeah, I am popular with the gremlins, it seems ;) But this isn't too bad, just black and blue, will be over soon. And the old paper box broke the fall!
so glad you didn't, FM. Must have hurt though :(
no use telling you people to watch your step, I guess!
oh it did!
I am the hanging in there mode, sprite. Thanks for asking.
I watch my steps a lot. Ya just never know what they will do next.
Ever since I have been very cautious going downstairs.
Oh ha ha BR - give them some tap shoes.
not the most comfortable mode, but not the worst you had to handle either. I hope things will get a bit lighter soon, BabbleRabble.
*glaring suspiciously at steps from corner of eye*
So that is you, me and Ata with leg injuries
Well, I must hie myself to bed -- happy babbling all, and take care!!!
eh yeah, but Ata had to wear a brace (torture device really) and I only have black knees.
*poof*
sleep well, jilli!
Bye jilli
good morning everybody and bye, jilli!
morning rubyfoo
Ata is into bondage (grin - starts a rumer*
Morning ruby
*evil grin* that rumour was out very soon after she showed us which brace she had to wear!
LOL sprite.
Talking of Ata - where is she and Haz?
Me voila!
falling is so scary! and it tak3es one second of inattention (or a quiet dog in the way).
voila et bon jour haz!
my guess is that Haz is either walking or preparing for the ordeal. Not sure about Ata. Might be there cheering her on, or just busy doing other stuff.
Just back from looking at e-mails etc.
(((Haz)))
yep or an ankle that folds
I see we're back on the budget grids.
hi Haz!
Great ic4 Haz
Hello! Yes, I thought it was nice and cheerful, FM.
today is the day... wishing you a lovely walk, Haz, and good weather.
Babble is saving itself for you for tomorrow and a double prize.
Thank you, sprite, it's looking good as far as the weather is concerned, so that's a bonus.
good morning all how many words today please
Are you preped and ready? Don't forget your streches and I will shut up now :)
only 84, sandra, morning
84 sand
gm sandra
thanks
first 20 are easy, lol!
They're getting someone along to put us through mass stretches. I'm hoping to grow at least an in4/6.
lol
We will be thinking of you Haz even if we are asleep :)
dreaming about a force march.....
no sleeping for the wicked, FM. We must keep on doing weather dances until Haz has finished. No rain, and no scorging sun either.
I foresee people having disturbed images of a small, sweaty but determined woman pounding along.
Oh heck. OK sprite - but not sure how long I cn stay wake - been up since 5 however will do my best.
ouch that is very early to be up. Ok, FM, I will cover for you.
FM will be good for nothing if she doesn't get her sleep.
*grin*
also true
May have to take a nap this pm.
but will still be wishing you good luck Haz!
sprite, remember when your daughter was away at camp? was it a success?
oh yes Haz, she had a good time. thanks for asking.
I remembered her going, just couldn't remember what the outcome had been. The destination had been a secret, wasn't that right?
husband is being a ch*** this AM so although it's sunny and beautiful, he's already put a pall on the day! :(
mmmm I don't Ruby means champ.
well it always is a secret to the children and the parents. The parents get a letter with the address as soon as the children are on their way. They were relatively close by this time!
morning to you all
morning lyn *hug*
Good evening, lynxxx.
right, Lynxx! "not in the grid"
Good evening lynxxx
I think it is chou. A cabbage.
The hairdresser was in a state of ch5/16 when the client's hair refused to cu4/6.
maybe a chump? or is that just an Australian saying
nice one
chump wd be good, but it's much less nasty.... chou is too much like the pups, who are sweet!
no that works here in the UK too lynxxx.
I'm glad this gives me some escape, otherwise I'd go crazy
The milkmaid had quite a tu4/5 when the blessed machine refused to ch5/16.
Lunch time for me - yes I know it is only 9.20 but having been up for so long I am hungry.
nice, haz, have you published your poetry?
Keep this up, FM and you'll get a full extra day soon.
when your body says it is lunchtime, it is lunchtime, FM. Enjoy!
I think the clientele would be limited, ruby!
I agree, sprite!
eating on demand
I'll subscribe!
lol Haz Back in a bit
looks like I just hit the interesting part of the grid. *stares bog-eyed at the grid*
It's one of those single word grids, no sequences really, are there?
almost half, but I think that will be that!
indeed Haz
thank goodness it's not just me
No, it's a shared experience of tweezing them out.
that lovely female ending gone to waste!
of course I know what that is being a Lynette
my phantom of the day is nocturnal. Imagine the weird jumps my mind tries to take to make words of this.
are you really? did you loave Desperate Housewives?
Now, is that did you have or did you love?
love*
DH loathed it!
or did you loathe
hi
Yes - though I have called myself Lyn ever since I was 12. Quite a common name for 'girls' of my age
hi lady!
I didn't watch it, ruby, but I know the series you mean - lots of trailers.
hi Infernal
I win YAH.
Hello, herin.
gm herin!
HI. I get to go get my game. Haz best wishes for the work
Walk sorry
you win what?
It will be work, but I'll get to walk and talk. Thanks again, herin.
did you win a game or is the prize a game or both?
second phantom: binocular
(Westford - thank you!)
half!
you're very welcome haz
gratz ruby
hiya west!
Hello West!
The battle of win
hello sprite and everyone
wills even
I get my game yah
Oh good, you're here. Good morning, westford.
hello westfor
just lucky I happened to be on and see Haz' icon
early, yes?
or maybe VERY late
hi lyn and ruby too
HAz is your walk tonight
you deserve it, lady, whatever it is. After this year's hard work.
Yes, herin, starting at 10 pm.
Thanks. B.f is going to drive me to the store
the panting breath of all babblers will be the wind in your back, Haz
I know. Imagine my shame if I had to confess that I hadn't made it. I'd have to change my name and pretend to be a new babbler.
but we'd recognize your style! there's no hiding in here, I think
Haz best wishes
if so, Haz, don't forget to cloak your new you with superfluous smileys and abbreviations!
has anybody ever successful changed identities?
You're right, ruby, even when people change their names, you can still know who they are.
babble protection program?
yes but only openly, rubyfoo, when they did not like their nickname.
phantom: nuncio
Some people have changed names but have told us about it. Some haven't said, but I've recognised them.
as soon as somebody starts chatting again, you get a 'feel' for the person behind it... hard to disguise.
whoops, not a phantom!!!
than ks Ruby
thanks rubyfoo, lol
pb for me! any tranquilizers in there?
I'd fool you all if I started talking about the joys of sewing and the evils of George Clooney.
I am still me, though.
hahah haz!
Haz Mr Clooney was on ER last night
nah that would be too transparent, Haz. Besides, I am pretty sure you'd sound sympathetic towards George even then.
Let me just meditate on that thought for a moment...
I even like his commercials!!
the commercial where he dies and goes to Petrus is good
rubyfoo, nobody needs tranquillizers in the PB. There is comfort food, silly.
and John M.'s unctuous voice makes a great St. Peter!
phantom: luncheonette
the chog itself is psychic comfort; thank you all for that!
woweee lyn, you win the prize
Is that half a sandwich, lyn?
great phantom, lynxx
culotte: much smaller....
Lunchoon, music while you eat.
and we also have a jacuzzi in the PB with nice cabana boys... you can get all kinds of cocktails... a massage... any wild or calm party you want to throw...
ty sprite
so how can this grid harbour words over 6 letters? *looks at stats with unbelief*
beats me
*disbelief even
Joins the group of cynics in the corner.
I'm glad it's not just me -- was feeling really dense, there
I'm just about to go through the chat log for hints. Anyone care to bet on who found the long words?
nocturnal
lol no thank you ;)
well it should be there
morning all
hi kallia
it should be, Kallia, I agree
what are the odds on Grem at the moment?
I agreee, Kalia, it should be there.
I'd say that no bets are taken on Gremlinn, if the bookie wants to make any money.
I'll look and report back. I won't spoil the fun by saying the words, only who found them.
this is going to be a hard grid...I'm down to the n already and only have 10 words!
Well no list o well. Like I have finished a grid all week
jillibus nearly gave me heart failure by saying cul8r, but it wasn't a word.
Dizgrannie was the first to declare an 8.
hint for the first 2 letters, pls!
lol Haz
wtg on Dizgrannie
Une found a 7, then josh found an 8. I think gremlinn must have been bound and gagged somewhere.
dont know about 7s and 8s having trouble finding 4s and 5s!
I have tried all I could with the 'not in' prefix, and I give up. The biggies must start with something else.
kallia, it is one of those grids!
I have 49 words, 47 are 4's and 5's lol
well I just have 20 yet
1 6
I have 55 and only 3 x 6. No 7s and no 8s.
that can't be the real sprite! you are always finished by now!!!
if Sprite is struggling no hope for us lesser mortals
can I save a tiny bit of my reputation by telling I just found an 8? And that I did it by thinking that prefix I talked about could actually be a suffix as well?
true, kallia, I think I'll go and make lunch and start dinner, so I can watch the US game at 4PM!
hey I am no gremlinn :P
oh no worries about your reputation Sprite :)
It's a baseball term, apparently, but all I could think of was babies and bathwater.
co7 1st 3 letters = camp bed + cons + 3 letter word forornamental garden planter. Add a vowel atthe end for the 8.
*grins* beyond saving, I know
you twigged hehehe
right with you on that one, Haz
It means an exaggerated form of acting style - a new word to me (the one that FM clued)
Well I am going out. So Haz best wishes and take chare everyone
Bye herin
Have a good evening, herin.
thanks FM for those
have a nice evening, lady, and enjoy your new game
ty FM
bye herein
thank you FM, you're brilliant!
That early lunch has worked well for FM!
i will
lol I have my moments ruby :)
far and few between though.
got the baseball one, was that you, sprite? thank you!
no idea about baseball
no the baseball clue was from Haz
pi8 - where you play hockey, not in.
ty Haz
You're welcome.
aaah, ty haz!
ohhhh rubyfoo I found a 7 with the ending you so longed for
No problem, ruby.
eight women singing
Haz, am going to have nap soon so I will wish you all the best for tonight and will look forward to hearing all about it tomorrow if I don't see you later.
have a good nap, FM, and *hugs*
that's funny, sprite, I had the short form!
That's fine, FM, have a nice sleep and you'll hear all about it tomorrow.
wtg rubyfoo!
bye FM and thanks for the help, as usual
((())) all :)
now cooking and dealing with DH!
bye FM
Bye FM.
bye rubyfoo
good bye all and walk pretty haz
Bye westford, and thanks again.
That low down, no-good, continually hiding Italian word is there again.
thanks. I never seem to be able to spot that one
well with help I managed halfway...going to paint fence back later
thanks for the help
bye Kallia!
See you later, Kallia.
It's one of the sneaky words in babble. They have a gang. Niece, ocean, asea are all members. It's international thanks to that Italian one.
hi guys
and orient
hi sandy *hugs*
Hello, sandy.
Yes, orient skulks about as well.
hi everyone - Sprite why are you black and blue
OMG - i see the horse!
fell flat on my knees. Nothing broken, just bruised.
good job sandy. Good horse too.
oh poor thing (())
that would hurt, can you walk ok?
yeah it hurt, but walking goes better every day. It will all be well and forgotten in a week, no worries :)
oc7/32 - eight little females?
eight little females singing
or little blokes
Ruby didn't think there was a use for the diminutive ending, pity she's gone. Maybe she'll pick up on it later.
I clued it to her earlier, Haz, she found it
Oh, I mustn't have seen that, that's good.
always pleasant when a good ending doesn't go wasted
Absolutely.
finished yet sprite? i've been here for 5 minutes notw
now
*slaps sandy around the room in a friendly way* I still need 11 and am working tile by tile now, feeling pleasantly challenged.
(barring the incidental pulling out of hairs)
i have 48 left and feeling unpleasantly challenged
I'll be a witness for the prosecution or the defence. I can be bought.
lol Haz! And all for the good cause, of course!
I am making sausages and mash for dinner- with lots of gravy- i love that old English standbye and am indulging myself
sounds delicious
some healthy broccoli added
as opposed to un-helthy broccoli??
I hope you made enough, I think I will come over for dinner.
lol, as opposed to unhealthy sausages
hi bojazz
It's a cold night and I love comfort food
Mash seems to have had something of a resurgence. They serve it in restaurants now but talk about 'crushed potatoes'.
good morning to all of you :)
Good morning, bojazz.
back, just found r5 then FMs tu5!
is that you in the pic bojaz
cold night? it's already in the 70's here :(
hi Sandy & Bojazz
hi lynx
who is that masked man!?
the handsome one on the right, of course, with the shiny white coat
Ah yes, the Greek dancing apparel, such fond memories for FM.
very cold here , sunny days and cold nights that is our winter
except for the lovely rainy days we don't get enough of
only Tonto knows
Why don't they make cowboy series any more?
I used to love that show when I was little
the indians won! there are no more cowboys, but lots of indians around ???
Yes, but old-fashioned cowboys with horses being tied to railings and bar-tenders flinging foaming glasses of beers down long bars shouldn't really go out of style.
Bring back Bonanza. Its opening sequence was genius.
wow, finally found a series of words when I tried to grey out the U
those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end ...
we'd sing and dance forever and a day...
We'd live the life we'd choose, we'd fight and never lose.
those were the days, oh yes, those were the days
(All sing together - those were the days, oh yes, those were the days)
or: cause we were young and sure to have our way...
Am I right in remembering that Paul McCartney wrote that?
damn, now that's stuck in my head...
he wrote it for a girl who had a hit with it - cant remember her name
glad i could help, sandy
Mary Hopkin
I'd better go - see you all later. Have fun Haz
mary hopkin... Paul produced it
bye lyn, have a nice evening
bye lynxxx
bye lynxxx
Bye lynxxx.
bye lynx and right on Haz
Ah, so she wrote it. I knew he had some connection with it. She had a lovely voice.
and Sprite
I know that song word for word. Still love it :)
well no doubt I will be singing it for the next few days
wiki says: Those Were the Days" is a song credited to Gene Raskin, who put English lyrics to the Russian song "Dorogoi dlinnoyu" ("??????? ???????", lit. "By the long road"), written by Boris Fomin (1900-1948) with words by the poet Konstantin Podrevskii.
very interesting but wish I would remember those facts to impress visitors with -lol
Although the song was popularized in the early 1960s by The Limeliters, Welsh singer Mary Hopkin did the best known recording. It was released on 30 August 1968, shortly after Hopkin was signed to the Beatles' newly created Apple label. Hopkin's recording was produced by Paul McCartney and became a #1 hit in the UK singles chart, and reached #2 in the US. The tune topped the Billboard Easy Listening survey. Paul McCartney, who produced the session, also recorded Hopkin singing "Those Were The Days" in four other languages for release in their respective countries
so we were all close, but no cigar :)
Thanks for that Sprite- here's a cigar anyway!
Make notes on your arm, sandy, they'll think you're looking at the time, but you'll just be able to get the facts straight.
LOL
:)
lol
Wouldn't it be awful if they thought you were bored and trying to get rid of them?
just tell your visitors nonchalantly you need to go to your naos, because that is where you store the food for your in4.
Word would go round that there are wild times ahead at Sandyloo's place.
Fireflies! Now that was a grid I enjoyed getting my teeth in!
LOL I love showing off, I thought that would give me an opportunity and then I could sing for them
Well done!
hmmm Sprite, I think you took longer than your usual 10 minutes
you can anyway, sandy. Daring to sing in public is impressive
ha, I still have 47 left , no opportunity for showing off here
In Vicuna's case, it's positively foolhardy.
Everybody is used to me singing but not everybody is suitably impressed
maybe they are jealous
I am off. You all have a good night and/or day. And Haz, enjoy your walk and may it be fun and rewarding.
Philistines, sandyloo, Philistines.
Thanks, sprite. Have a good day as well.
absolutely Haz
barbarians, they are
bye sprite
bye sprite
(Makes note to audition sandyloo before allowing her to sing in the babble talent contest)
It wouldn't be fair to the others Haz
Okay, time I was out of here as well. Have a lovely day and I'll see you tomorrow! Byeee!
bye Haz
bye haz
Bye!
bye to sprite's and haz's backs
hello to bojazz and sandy's fronts!
WW# around here again! What's a woman to do?
that;s WW3
poor you, ruby!!
it's rotten; he is able to spoil a whole day and it is so lovely here. All could be perfect!
and it was because of a look on my face (I had just gotten up!)
hi ruby
hello sandy
yay, fireworks unaided
well done grem
no chat, lists, or morewords
congrats gremlin!
hmmmm I want to be as clever as gremlin
Ruby, sorry about the
Ruby, sorry about the
Ruby, sorry about the
Ruby, sorry about the
,WW
lol my typing lately is like someone with parkinsons
I was very lucky to guess one of the 8s
it's hard to know what to do, so, instead, I just whine a lot (in here), wouldn't give him the satisfaction!
what would you like to happen (other than he has a change of personality)
husbnad's been away for a week, utter bliss, but he's back tonight :(
how bad is it?
I guess i am lucky, my husband is very placid
I wish he'd go back to his previous wife (no chance of that, I'm afraid)
heis too old. And I can't kick him out, he's too old for that, too
yes, you are lucky
hmm, join a club where you can get away maybe?
wait til he is senile and put him in a home
frame him for a crime and get him arrested
we're getting close to that point, I think. I can't really go away because of the gdogs!
dig a big hole in the garden and maybe he will fall into it
I don't want to get kicked out of France!
lol
my husband is not chatty he doesn't talk to me much but he is very easy to get on with and it works well
we actually get on better the older we get
that is very lucky! How many years have you been married?
40 LOL
we are both easy going and neither of us are control freaks
wow! we've only been married since' '97 but together since '84. I'm wife #4! That should have told me something
is he your first husband?
that is a long time tho
he is a total control freak but can't really do the little stuff, e.g. answer the phone, open packages, repair little things, etc.
no, my 2nd; I was single for a VERY long time in between and loved it!
I would never get married again if I was financial enough
he is even estranged from his 3 children, so I don't think that I am the problem
and then there's the question of $$! If we had a lot, it would be easier to get rid of him but there isn't enough to run 2 households
sure doesn't sound like it and let's face it , we women are so sensible compared to men and more reasonable too
nad I'm not going anyplace!!!!
you will have to concentrate on his good points - there must be some
sorry to vent, but he has me very upset!
he used to be my best friend....
babble is such a good place to vent
yes
I am really grateful for that!
I'm going to take a Xanax and read the newspaper; hopefully he'll be nice later
I had such a hard time when Nicky was getting her shoulder dislocated all the time and I was grateful for somewhere to talk about it with people who wern't involved but caring
and my watching the World Cup drives him crazy!
it's true. We care but are distant enough and without any baggage, so it can be very helpful
unusual for a man - but my husband doesn't watch sport either- he watches another television lol
And we get some very good advice, e.g. Ata diagnosed my pup's mange!
is the mange cured now?
and the Tour starts onf the 3rd of July!!! The two things actually overlap
yes, but both dogs scratch a lot; maybe dogs just scratch....
we just have brilliant people here :P (mainly Haz!!)
I am so looking forward to the Tour, the Gira D'Italia was fantastic - you can get a vaccine against mange I think
and you, ata!!!!
Lots of brilliant people here At
I just learn from the Master ;)
the vet came, gave him two courses of antibiotics, ivrectin (what ata had mentioned) and he was cured. But he still scratches
any fleas around?
they are both getting the flea and tick drops every month and I think I would either see them or be bitten by them!
Gird morning ... looks like an odd grid today.
I am slowly but slowly going through it - hi mudd
going to take a chill pill and lie down. See you later (((sandy and ata)))
a hug for you, too, mudd!
hugs to you Ruby and keep smiling
how many words, sandy? I have 59
i have 53 31 left
I've hit the wall (better than hitting you-know-who!)
ty ruby
not you, mudd, hahah
I have 84 left :D
that should take you about 10 minutes then at
I wish!!
let's see :)
I can't describe my feelings toward this grid. I say like pulling teeth too often. Perhaps like searching for fleas on that dog ... I've also heard that searching for nits is no fun either.
i guess i have been chatting and watching tv and cooking tea but I don't mind I am just relaxing doing it slowly'
clues for the 8s plz
hehehe mudd
there is a co8/55 which comes from the co 7
co7 clue plz sandy?
trying to think of a clue - i dont have the other one yet
co + a consonant that sounds like our favourite cup of * + a word that rhymes with a medical condition that you get from heavy lifting - but one letter less
LOL I will try and improve on that bad clueing if you dont get it
ty sandy
did you get it?
I got it from your clue, ty, Sandy.
wow , you must be clever!
then add one vowel for the 8
you made it easy to monkey, if not get outright
ty, I was about to start on the co 7,8 and you made it easier. I'm still not sure of that medical condition part, but like City 17, I figured it out.
Lady Biotch's name is in here. But it is not a word.
I'm not sure of anything mudd , but I'm glad you got it
Kaplan I love your icon pic - are you in it?
co + start of fourth weekday + consonant (+ vowel for 8) ... clue for anyone whose monkeys aren't playing today.
it is a hard one to clue
agreed, sandy - and this is an unpleasantly sticky grid, too. Just when I think I've hit a seam of words, it dries up.
And it's a psychological thing with me. If I think it's a hard grid, my brain shuts down. It won't see words that would otherwise be so obvious to me.
I have plenty of time tonite so I am just puzzling along slowly
I agree mudd, I miss a lot of fish when i am in that state of mind
this isn't an easy grid, is it?!
I keep trying words with d in them and there is no d in the grid
shh, ata, you'll make mudd's monkeys shut down!
exactly
lol, sandy
my tapirs have already got on strike!
i cant get the last in 5
how about a clue for that if someone has it?
I only have one in5 - to in*** a fine.
doubt it's your missing one, though
in+ garden planter
ty Kallia :) Now I have two.
thanks Kallia but I cant see a garden planter ...
yw
got it!!!ta
a large vase
thank you
26 left
I'm appreciating the -tch and -nch. My brain loosened up enough to spot some words there.
did you get what fleas can give you?
I'm finding that area a big tease full of phantoms, mudd - I keep wanting crunch and hunch and honcho
flea-bitis?
They will pop out at you, few though they are. I even found one -rch.
There's also some with ch at the end followed by a vowel
done...hard today couldn't see a thing first time round.
Can you tell that I love 'ch'
well done kallia
congrats Kallia
thanks
ch ch ch champion mudd
I have winkled a few out of that ni5 :)
wtg Kallia
any clues before I shoot off?
thanks but i am happy for the moment kallia
ok off for a long weekend. bye
I haven't listed yet; what does the other (non co) 7 start with?
There's an oc 7
o
ty, both
think of music groups
ty, sandy, monkeyed it off the 5 just as you clued it :)
octet
HI

Herin, where are you? You can come out now, you know.
I know
but I was enjoying it in there
The quiet is soothing, isn't it?
Yes
Considering this is grid is a poo
Yes, it definitely is that.
I have 11 left, but it's going to be bitter to the end.

{{River}} good morning! I am guessing you have passed the 8 week mark.
I dont know - just barely starting
fairly good I suppose, weather has improved a lot.
Hi Peri have no eights.
YES - 8 weeks and 2 days
Good morning Peri, just starting here so I don't know about the 8's.
glad you are getting good weather, Red
and even with my emergency this weekend, I did not start again *pats self on back*

ty, go, girl, go!
thanks for the 8's Mudd
go City Dweller and hello
yw
go city go
lol, ty, cheer squad :) speaking of which - anyone have a clue for the first co6
the pi is a compound word. The other one builds on the 7.
co 6, we get together for one of these when we have something to discuss.
Business related word for discussing, chattering about a topic.
Gotta to, new day dawning and my grandson is awakening.
bye bye Mudd, thanks for the clues
bye mudd
aha, ty for the firewords mudd ... have a good day :)
nu6/24 anyone????
congrats CIty
Hi lkdubb
yay city
nu ... woman in a convent and labor union
ty all ... nu6/24 is a diplomat of the church (rather a dramatic sounding word)
morning Merk
Morning, Mom and everyone
morning/evening all! yikes... why did i start? looks like a stinker...
Stinker is putting in mildly, but folks are finishing it up.
up to 20 jmb and two have gotten fireworks since I have been here
thanks for the nu, merk and city
tooth
You get brain numb and don't even see the babblets, of which there are many.
off to pb....
pb jmbdobie
thanks you jmb
good morning merk and jmb
Hmmm this looks like a toughie.
Coffee is ready, I'll send some to the pb.
english muffins and juice in the pb this morning
yeah Mom!
Any clues before I go? (I'm leaving orange and ginger marmalade for Mom's english muffins in the PB)
My clue of the day is that there are several -tch, -nch, -rch, -che at the end of words. It gets better as you get into it.
I think that pieto4/4 should be a word. I have one to carry my dessert
oh no scrambled eggs this morning - I better be careful
you want scrambled eggs? I will whip some up for you
I'll leave a random clue, too - build off the oc5 for the oc7, with a french-sounding ending ... bye everyone! have a good day.
thanks Merk, will work on that
bye bye City, thanks
someone said english muffies...
I did Crossy and City Dweller left orange and ginger marmalade for them
and good morning
i cannot wake up today..better get some tea going and gm mom

hi River

took me a while to see that one too Mom
like pulling hen's teeth
yep, compound words often are like that
I am also halfway but would like to get the co 8 before I start my day
do you have the co7 it works off of that
howdy river, this grid is so nasty i keep popping in and out hoping a new word will jump out at me;(

I am focused on a big meal this afternoon
aas is she lool
I wish you, Scrabbler and Elegant good results
they should schedule those tests for first thing in the morning, its so hard to go that long without eating
I lost 4 lbs since yesterday. A clear liquid + laxative diet is an effective wt loss program.
instead of the peglyte we went with this alternative was 2 pouches of powder taken with a glass of water 4 hours apart, followed by many glasses of water
my son took me for a nice big breakfast after I had one done a couple of months ago
here they have you mix miralax with 64 oz. jug of gatorade.
I just finished my 3rd bottle of mag citrate since last evening--mixed with juice.
I forget the size of miralax
the plumbing had a workout lol
time to start my day. {{Hugs}} to all of you.
oh that citro-mag crap.forgot about that 1

happy anniversary peri
hi river
hi River and ty
i'm just a newbie with 3 months
when I started, there were no icons or pro level, so I stayed that way
Hello, young lovers! Happy Friday!!!!
hello judi
there were icons and pro level when I started, at least I think there were, but no babble expert
I just double checked....I signed on April 13, 2004.
were there tile stats when you started lawyer, I don't think they were there when I started
that, I do not remember
please could someone clue the o in the middle column, thx
Okay. I officially hate this grid.
The tile stats came in when DrG changed the whole look of the grid, sometime after I started, 2 years after you guys
ty lyn
It willhurt when you say it.
I feel so old
I neer finished a grid then. did not know about morewords
* will hurt*

thank you wht
I remember when Dr_G was beta testing the new layout. and helllo all.
hey FM
hi FM
Hi peri :)
Hi lynxyloo :)
Lovely flowers, FM. Are they yours?
back in the good old days, I devoted too much time to this. I would play games like fill in only 4-letter words or stop when my score reached an even number like 100 words and 1000 points. people did not appreciate those who finished the puzzle
good morning everyone!
yes they are Judi - I am showing my garden off each day so far with different pics.
good morning texan
very pretty, FM
hi texan
lawyer - it was a different type of game back in the 'old days' wasn't tit.
nice garden FM
lovely FM
hi lynxxx and river
those were the days, my friend. we thought they'd never end.
LOL
I used to keep a list of strange words that cropped up in the grid, learnt a lot of them and they dont appear very often now.
help with u words pls
I kept a list of strange people who cropped up here. I learned nothing from them, and, fortunately, they disappeared.
3 start like your mum's brother
lol lawyer
LOL lawyer that is very true!
found the 2nd un4

I kept a list of strange words too FM :)
what more could you want.....
and you still keep coming back lawyer. :)
thanks! OK all 4 start like your mums brother
it's like being unable to turn away from an accident
my mother did not have a brother...what do I do now?
adopt something? ;)
guess you can't play. sorry
{heavy sigh}
but if you know the shhh agency in the US you could add it to the un
*pretends to play a violin for lawyer*
I know the sh*t agency in the US
in fact, all of the agencies are sh*t agencies
keep playing that violin FM
hello fm!
TO!!!!! Hi there
How are you hun?
lol lynxxx

grand thanks - excited as Haz is doing her moonlight walk this evening for a cancer charity.
ooh is that tonight? too late to donate?
Hi fellow babblers!
never too late to donate :)

TO - if you have Outlook, you have a calendar.
you can do it via her profile TO there is a link in there
any clues for u words?
Do you want me to post it here for ease?
Hi beach
hardly ever in outlook these days. nor in babble, i just remembered why.
mkg - all the u words were clued about half an hour ago
time to move on.
ty
Very odd pic in your icon, TO. Strange that they're all on leashes. Even stranger that they are all black cats.
bottom row blackened *sigh*

Crap. Off I go.
*Judi even!

River-I think she is pissed at someone in babbleland-i think all of you are great! I'm a lurker but i enjoy the site
2 4's, 1-5 and 1-6
Who might she be pissed at?
Hi Scribe - you come out from time to time - good to see you
missing the six.
is the six from the 5?
i have no idea-she hasn't been on in a while as she said & didn't seem to like what she saw now
latin end mkg
thanks, River
Morning all
Good Morning Mr. Bob
hi Bob

Very strange.
I am a lurker too... I enjoy following the chog, and sometimes jump in.... I feel bad that TO seems upset at something here
Disharmony in Babble land distresses me. {{{{{Love Vibes}}}}}}}

Hi all - does anyone have a clue for the first co6,36? My brain is hurting I've been looking for it for so long! TY

Thanks scribekd! Would never have found it without you ;-)
yvw-don't clue too well-was afraid you couldn't get it

It was a very good clue!

eke i'm not fast enought!
got that one, babbz..thx
lol
pfft.. I meant the first ch
it's not a race-
dyslexic today
1st ch-sounds like sound of a gun
un 5?
Do y'all ever play Babble as an escape from a list of about a thousand things you have to do....i'm in such major procrastination mode today. I think if I can just finish this puzzle, life as I know it can begin!!!
babbz-we're either at work playing or ignoring house chores!
un5-un + American spy agency
Oh thank God I'm not alone
add another vowel for the un6
thanks figured that
I want a job where I can play this at work!!
no, babbz-it is an addiction that is hard to break
I go for a while without playing, or with the big grids I'll give myself an hour or whatever, but these little ones, I find I compulsively need to finish them rather than quit - but often they are harder than the 300+ word grids!!
so true-i always promise only 30 mins but i play to the end!
I agree, babbz
I do the same thing... finish the small ones
Thank you scribe for the clues..
glad to help i use so many of the clues from others
it's nice to give back
You all build such a nice community chatting with each other - I try to not look at the chat box, because if I did I'd be on here all day. Still, it's good to know when you need advice or a smile, it's there for the lurking!
speaking of which, down to 26, gtg for now...
it is a nice chat grouop & i rely on them when i get stuck!
bbl to finish.... hagd all! *poof*
HELLO ALL!
oh, I did it again -- dumb caps lock. LOL got to 19 last night... hoping to finish.
i just thought you were happy to see us!
well, that too of course, scribe! *hugs*
it's quiet-think some are napping after lunch!
no doubt. I just got up, saw the younger kid off for a day at a water park and decided to eat and babble. I am taking a full, guilt-free day "off" today.
mental health day-best kind!
:-D I knew you would understand! LOL next week I start the two summer classes I signed up for, so figured this was my last chance.
okay, I think I will list. Not seeing anything new.
first CH please?
sounds like noise gun makes
ch5/14
thanks scribe *thinking*
bang, boom, pop, pow, rat-a-tat-tat?
oooh! I got it!!
sorry-think of gun**** wound only with ch
great clue!
thanks-
good morning everyone :)
good morning nan!
is the first CO 6 fishy?
not really stid, however we could have a discussion about it
on second thoughts it probably is a fish
hm. thanks nan *thinking*
oh! I was mis-counting *revises available tiles*
last in 5/12, please?
hi all - first co6 is silly! Combo slang for a meeting
if you ask again you will in*** my wrath! just kidding
when someone is cremated, you place their ashes in _ _____
hey hoot! HOOT HOOT! (you're in the grid)
that's a 5/14 scri and not the last in 5
sorry nan-i gave you wrong clue!
babbz is correct
I know! but couldn't resist. Now everyonr to the PB!
ty babbz
can anyone help me with co/36 please?
ywc
GOT THE conversation word! down to 13
try 11:18
knew you would stid
the "conversation" slang is for the co 6/36, rhonda
fi
oops. sorry
*fuming at the lousy reffing in the USA-Slovenia match that just ended*
aha fireworks!
YAY Babbz!
Anyone need a clue ! Thanks Stid
(((EvaN))) me too. Babble. It will make it better.... *offers choclits*
okay, help on the fishy fi 4/8 please?
did the us beat slovenia?
nothing seems to be working.
Thanks, but just drawing a blank!
no babbz, it was a lousy tie, although there was a fair goal from the U.S. toward the end that got DQ'd. lousy refs.
rhonda -- a house that is pre-built is pre-***; slang for talking with other folks is co*-(house ending)
babbz -- it was a tie, but we were ROBBED of a goal. ref called offsides -- there was NO offsides, and added to that, there were 2 penalties that never got called either.
i don't think the fi 4,8 is a fish
that oc 7 is ridiculous
that's what I thought, nana
change the first letter to f and it sounds more like the racketeering acronym....
Good afternoon all......
ooh that stinks about the soccer game
stid - if you have the fi4/7 just change a cons for the 4/8
hello caitlyn!
cait!!!
Thank you!! finally got it!
FM!!
Hello hun, how ya doing?
hey FM!
USA just really needed to win that one. a draw is ok, but a win would have been amazing.

GAH. silly word
caitlyn, that is wonderful! what a great idea!
taking anyone else along?
Hello EvaN!

yes, we are all going and I will get the babble jet out for its annual party/airtime :)
I felt a bit daring, but it looks perfect, quiet with a pool right by the beach with a bus stop outside to get around , hubby is going too stid
yes, stid
okay, *thinking*
Thats a great idea FM
vinic

Big time "OPPS"
I think I will leave hubby at home then stid LOL
oh. I thought I had that OC 7... help please?
it's okay Rhonda -- did it work?
oc 7: 8 female singers?
maybe they are french singers
LOL thanks nan!
hi, and thanks for that cybernan
th5 = th + h*** ( to throw something)
hey guernseygirl!

Hi gg
Enjoy stid :)
Bye stid have a great day
I hate waiting around ready to start a trip! -- have everything assembled and ready to pack, but too early for that yet!
bye stid
hi FM. have a lovely time stid
stid deserves a day off - she works so hard all the rest of the time!
anyone want any clues before I go and change my ic4?
T'is such a great ic4 cnan
nan is she a new granddaughter, she is so alert?
2nd ci?
c+ charged particle
ty
yes that is our new granddaughter, Frankie, taken when only a few hours old.
She is lovely nan
Welcome to the world Frankie and welcome to babble :)
We will be heading down to the coast next week to meet her.
babble for babbies
That will be a great trip for you, very exciting
births, deaths and mariages all happen in babble land.
just the beginning, cait -- we are then heading down to Seattle where we will have dinner with Stid and family, then off the next day for an 18 day tour of Shanghai, Beijing and the Yangtze River
Oh wow - that is a trip and a half cnan!
WOW nan what a fantastic trip
sounds great.
hope you will put up some pics when you return cnan.
I probably will, fm -- not on flicker though as I can't remember the password!
lol same here - I was trying to remember it this morning as I wanted to upload some photos.
passwords are the bane of my cyber life
i can never remember which cat i've used for which site
and heaven forbid we write them down somewhere!
I now use the same one for everything except my pc access pw.
so far, I can still remember those 2 -- lol
I panicked last night when I was paying for my hols, they wanted 2nd 4th and 5th letters of password luckily I used the correct one !
and now of course we have the extra layer of security when shooping on line that demands 4 letters of a particular passowrd - which yuou can never remeber or spell incorrectly!
i've tried that, but some want letters and numbers, some want more letters than others, some are case-sensitive, some aren't, etc. etc.
Oh we sound like the people on grumpy old women LOL
lol gg and cait
if nobody wants clues, I will be on my way...
i AM a grumpy old woman
lol gg
TTFN cnan
bye, nan
Im okay nan, see you soon take care
bye all -- a demain :)
Oh I love those grumpy old women TV progs - i so Identify with much of what is said :)
me too, and it's good to know that other people share your irritation.
cait - btw my glass is empty and I am waiting for some olives!!!!!
just cos you are off on your hols soon is no need to neglect your friends!
Sorry FM I was just getting the drinks and snacks ready , I have a selection of olives as you can see tuck in
ooohhh lovely :)
i bet you'll have some lovely olives in Corfu
gg help yourself before we eat all the olives
Did you knowthat Haz is doing a 10 mile walkthis evening to raise £ for breast cancer?
ty caitlyn.
no. that's great.
No I didnt know that, well done to Haz!!
pity it's raining.
yup - I am blowing the trumpet on her behalf - the start at about 10pm this evening.
why so late?
Thats a late start
She has already raised £500+
Fantastic
wow, that's very good.
It's a moonlight walk -which has been done many times in the UK
what a lovely idea. i hope it's not too overcast. it's very cloudy here
Quite often the women walking wear pink bras to emphasise the cancer link - it is a big thing here in England.
I will put a bottle of wine in the pb for her with her name on, no one else is to to5/16 it!
and even men wear pink bras too if they do the walk :)
i wouldn't dream of half-inching it, cait
a friend of mine did one dressed as a pink viking
~I think she will probably appreciate a good mug of tea cait as Haz is not a drinker. LOL gg what a great image there
A lot of my friends have done the race for life, we also a a group called Rhondda breast friends that raise a lot of money they had a great calender out at xmas
In that case gg, help yourself lol
naked, Cait?
Not quite but it was a fun one
It is so grat to hear of all the efforts that people are making to raise money for soooooo many causes.
BRB
I must go and water the garden,we didnt get the rain that was promised
we have it here. i'll send some over to you if you like
I will wait for FM though
while you're waiting, do you have the co7 and 8 cait?
Its hard to clue gg, a babys bed plus the word to throw with a different letter on the end
The 8 has a vowel on the end
Im sure that was a rubbish clue sorry
i'll have to think about this.
Come up from the bottom t
my problem is i can't think of another word for throw
ah, got it. ty cait
now to see what it means
co7 1st 3 letters = camp bed + cons + 3 letter word forornamental garden planter.
Okay I knew it was a rubbish clue, but it worked LOL
well i never. ty f mitch as well
oh sorry see you have it already.
Pouring another glass for you both, I really must go and do the watering, see you tomorrow, take care bye
must go and get some food. the olives were great, thanks. i'll be back later for the last 12 words, bye all
Cheers cait!!!
I'll take that glass wtih me and drink it while i'm cooking, thanks. bye cait
and bye gg.
sorry to lleave you on your own FM but i'm sure someone else will come along. bye RM
FM
Good evening everyone.
:) np
Been out to looooong lunch and just back.
Evening Sally wow that was a good lunch then?
hello, co6/36 pls
Lovely! Sat in garden and drank Pimms, then fab BBq and salads, good friends.
During the symposium, I thought I would have a COXXXX with some of my colleagues
co6/36 = shore form for a prisoner + 3 letters that mean great, wonderful.
Sounds great Sally!
hi all ...hi peri how is your kitty today?
ooh, nice clue. ty FM. Only just started and grid looks good so far.
It is not too bad today but ther are some strange words hidden in it.
Hi barb
Hello...
Must collect eggs, brb
hi all
hi jellen and FM
hi jmc
see you soon sally
hi everyone
hi bichon
I have been in the Bay Area of SF for almost two weeks and this is the first cloudy day
hi bichon and bye sally
still trying to understand the co6/36 clue :-(
the prefix meaning against + a shortening of a word meaning marvelous or wonderful
got it!
yay jmc!
it was the second part that I was running up agaist!
hi FM
the co7/40 has been in the grid before
Hi jmc and bichon
Just thought I would share that when I went out our front door this morning...standing there was a big huge 5 point Buck white tail deer...he was lovely to see...but of course ran away before I could get the camera
how nice!
Oh what a sight that must have been Barb!
hello everybody! Sally, are you still here?
Evening ruby.
that's incredible to have a buck in your front yard!
hello FM and jmc
Hi, ruby
it really was fm.....we live in a residental area near some fields occasionally we see them but to have it on the door step oh my
I like your nasturtiums FMitch, they're humongous
hi ruby
Sally's anti-heron pond nets arrived today, after my spending hours on the phone making arrangements, and guess who had to install them after Mr. Nasty didn't speak to me all day! Except to say "We're finished, not married anymore!"
lol thanks bichon - I grew them from seed. :)
hi jellen
ruby glad you got nets now
Oh no ruby!???
I just drop seeds in the ground in the spring and they grow, but not always that big
Hi, I'm back. Oh ruby are you serious?
I am disgusted, but I'll be da**ed if I'll cry!
(((ruby)))
he is getting worse and worse
well, sorry to say but you are going to be best off by yourself.
not sure what to say ruby...so (((hugs))) instead
that is one of the things i like about DC is the occasional wild life in the middle of the city
anyway the pond nets are splendid and we still have the bronze heron on the edge, so I think our remaining 20-25 fish will be OK!
you will have more fish in no time if they all mate
I think so, too, FM.
hopefully, they're not all girls!
sorry for the lag *pulls out "How to speak lovingly to your wife" as a gift for Mr Nasty*
I'm glad the nets are OK ruby. And I agree with FM, you might be better on your own. Buy him a one-way ticket back to the US.
(((ruby)))
well one boy is all it will take :)
Who's Mr. Nasty?
Do what has to be done ruby and visit lawers and make sure yo ua re taken care of.
I wish I could, but it would be like putting an unwanted dog by the side of the road! He's just too old to discard
hello wildcat
the house is mine, free and clear. As for the rest, I think it's 50/50, so I'm OK.
what a sweetheart you are ruby!
hi sweetie. sorry to hear of your trouble
*pours ruby a cup of herbal tea*
got one word left.....can someone help with NU 6/24?
he is such a jerk sometimes and deaf the rest of the time. But I'm OK. I have my beautiful garden and my wonderful pups. I wouldn't prefer to be any other place!
it is a Catholic church meeting, nu6
ruby I will only say this once - yow wnat to spend the next 20 years with someone you don't love anymore? Life is too short.
he's almost 85; I don't think it will be another 20 years!
lol OK hun :)
brb
any help for the non-catholics?
Ooh got it!
I just feel very strongly for your position.
Perhaps you should adopt a different strategy ruby. He has heart problems, right? So make him really really mad every day :)
his previous ex-wife wouldn't want him, his children are estranged, and I don't have enough money of my own to set him up in a separate house. I think I'll have to tough out the next 5 or so years
lol sally for shame!
raofl, Sally. You are wicked!!!
how about a brandy for him each morning so he sleeps through the day
Sedative in morning drink?
but you cqn't imagine how much I appreciate all your support!!!!
or a benadryl in his cereal
LOL who knew there were so many murduring wives out there!!!
Sound Hitchcockian here
lol, FM!
what? not me-- just enough to get him to nod off and not be annoying
like my French girlfriend who used to give her husband rohypnol so he'd leave her be....
I still think wires round the pond would be a good idea. Then, when he is leaning over looking at his fish ..... The perfect murder.
oh good lord ruby!
This morning he got mad because he said I made a face! I had been up about 15 minutes!
I thought rohypnol was what men gave women
I'm sure I'm no beautify in the morning but please.....
see that would have gotten me to make a face at him! lol
beauty, not "ify*
ruby, really, don't be a victim here. If he gets mad because you "made a face", make a really bad one at him to show him what a bad face really looks like.
she put it in her husband's scotch to make him pass oout
<==agrees with sally this time
he said that I am nice to the dogs, to the plumber, to everybody but him!
OK, I'll practice in front of the mirror!
oh my you go away for a moment and come back to plotting schemes...
Normally I am a peace maker, but I was once married to a husband who destroyed my self-confidence. Never again. Stand up to him. Show him he's being silly, stick your tongue out, say, yes, boo, be silly.
I thought it was a hoot with the pond nets because he was forced to speak to me as he couldn't understand the directions at all and it was easy for me
aw ruby I am so sorry for your unhappiness
when my mother got mad when her mind started to go we found that making everything a joke worked pretty well
pb for ruby!
thank you barb, but I still look at the bright side of this. After all, I could be elsewqhere and not in this beautiful place if not for him. He did, after all, give me the house as an engagement gift!
ruby, you're too nice to have to live this way. If it's your house, can't you give him the boot
uh oh, sorry for the ho**, into the pb I go
nice gift so he must have been okay once
lol ruby, that's a good gift.
wow that is a large gift to say the least
sending in cookies and tea for ruby
yes, but he was married to someone else at the time! lol. I should have known better!
not to mention all the people who have come and gone over lu***!
I've said it before, I just think he is going senile.
but the gift does not make up for the years of abuse that followed. ruby, you don't have to live this way regardless of what may happen to him when you leave him
<== agrees with sally again
((RUBY))
Well I think I lu***ed back from lu***
hi river
I THINK SO TOO, sALLY, ESPECIALLY SINCE HIS HEART ATTACK. Whoops, sorry for caps. What's the lu***
Hello everyone - just passing through
gosh I don't want to get old...it is too scary
has he seen a doctor to back up that diagnosis?
midday meal ruby
hello dancer, I was just imploding, as usual!
oh, I had that. LOL
If you have too much to drink with your lu*** you might lu***
thats what we are here for rubyfoo
*supports what wildcat said*
moi?
I don't like roller coasters because they lu***!
he is really charming with his doctors.
has mr. nasty seen a doctor recently?
I meant me in this case :-) having been out for a very long and boozy lu888
my mother was too ruby . . .
but they can still observe symptoms regardless of his behavior
in 6/24 please
sorry, sb lu***
sounds like fun, sally, what did you eat/drink?
*wonders if there is something satanic about 888*
you best pull that doctor aside and tell him what is really going on
LOL Sally I can hear you hic uping from here!
I've tried that, but the MD's here are very macho
nm...
it may be something as simple as a urinary tract infection which actually causes dementia in the elderly
find a woman MD
We sat in their gorgeous garden (6 of us) and started with Pimms, then went onto wine with BBQ and magic salads, then gooseberry fool or chocolate something for dessert, then coffee, then more drinks - then husband drove home. hic!
wtg jeff
no symptoms. Even when he had the heart attack, he had no pain. He is one tough guy!
magic salad???
hi all. ruby, sit in your beautiful garden and meditate :)
magic salads?
Magic as in delicious.
Hi, Dorens
magic salad? Sounds like something my gardener might mix up with funny-shaped leaves.....
Not as in magic mushrooms ;-)
hi dorens!
oh sounds brill Sally :)
hi all. just stealing a couple of minutes at work
Hey Dorens!
hi doren
next wednesday is the last day of school... then I may be on during the day far more often, and will see all you folks more often
Dementia can take many forms, ruby, suggest you have a good google. It can take the form of aggression, and if he is running scared because of his heart attack, his age, the thought you might dump him, he may well lash out with his tongue. Not standing up for him, you understand, just trying to understand what might be going on.
I'm stuck at 18 words...love the chatter but I better do a few things before school is out. bye for all now and (((((special hugs ))))) for ruby and a -----<--<@ too
wow you still have school? my kids are both out now
Must get some dinner - thanks for the chat.
bye fm.
another week here yet
Bye, FMitch
bye fm
Bye for now FM.
bye FM
bye FM
that seems late
ruby did you get your flower I sent????
it is usual for here
Hello Everybody. {{{{Rubes}}}}}}. I just sent you a message on FB - hope you enjoy it....
hi soodle bye soodle
what a wonderful group of friends. Sally, yes, I've looked up dementia and it surely fits, but I can't put him out with the trash!
Hi Soodle
""soodle}}
Hi, Soodle
that was supposed to be hugs.... :(
no but there may be a underlying medical condition that can be dealt with
no, you can't ruby, but it can make you feel better to know that it is him and not you, yes?
No I understand that ruby. What you can do is find a way of coping for yourself so his behaviour doesn't distress you.
Ruby, I consider myself hugged :)
I think when he had the blocked artery last Sept, it affected the blood flow to his brain and did some damage and made everything go downhill
or he can be given a sedative or antiphych drugs
that is entirely plausible
I know it's not me. LOL
Perhaps ruby needs the sedative :-)
I've tried giving him my Xanax, but he thinks they're addictive! hahah
I take Xanax at night and get my 8 hrs sleep, regardless!
yes i know that... but you know what i mean... something physical makes it easier to deal, i would think. (and yes, xanax can be, but sneak them to him anyway)
I'll grind them up in his applesauce!
good idea... well, back to the kids now. see you later
bye dorens
thank you all for this supportive chat. I feel buoyed up and much farther from tears!
Later, Dorens
bye dorens
<belch> i need a beer i have been licking envelops during most of this chat
yuck jmc
use a sponge and then drink the beer anyway!
i meant to say blech but belch works too lol
My not so dear, but oh so departed husband skyped me out of the blue yesterday. It was the first time I'd seen him in 3 years. He is bloated, bald and blotchy. And, as luck would have it, I had full make-up on, and my hair was done! Sweet!!!
whoo hooo soodle!
Yes
Vengeance is sweet soodle.
make-up and good hair are the best revenge!
Hes clearly very conscious of the baldness, and kept rubbing the top of his head, and I saw that he has gotten tattoos. He is 55!!!
and did you keep that beautiful smile on your face soodle
yuck!
ewwww
and a bright, blue-eyed Irish smile?
going through another childhood maybe
River, I could barely talk I was laughing so hard.
good! sounds perfect. Next, you can sweetly deal with mine!
Gladly, Rubes :)
we need to find some happy pills for yours and mine ruby
sounds like a plane, dancer!
<==thinking widowhood has its benefits
we know yours was a horrible situation, jmc, but they are no fun when they get old!!!
or a plan, maybe
widowhood *hmmm*
like a one-way ticket!
River, are you having man problems as well?
You all realise that if ruby's husband meets a sudden end, we will be veeery suspicious.
oh yeah
lol he can't create problems for me at least! (Other than the in-laws)
poor ruby has heard my venting by way of email
uh oh!
or start the party plans sally
I could start adding butter to his abstemious meals. He might just think they tasted better. Actually, I started tonight!
It's amazing how much cauliflower one can eat with butter on it
death by butter....
Lots of cream, foie gras.
lol ruby!
I am still paying into a life insurance policy on my departed husband. Par-Tay at Soodles when he finally pops his clogs!
death by butter is how i want to go
i'm sure this has been mentioned in the chog at some stage today, but how is cooth and uncooth NOT in the dictionary???
unfortunately, I'm the one who likes all that fatty stuff and he eschews it. But I can certainly slip butter into his veggies
I think there is a different vowel there pinny
because it's spelled with ou not oo pinny
change the vowel in cooth
i assumed it is spelled uncouth
ruby - your little self needs the extra butter
oh ty ruby!
really??? has it always had a 'u' in it??? how bizarre!
I dont know how to un a co5/16
*dances a little jig on teh way to the pb*
I eat butter, sour cream sweet cream, potato pancakes, chicken fat, you name it. I'm lucky, I guess
and do you make piecrust with real lard?
asks the woman who lives in the country that puts random U's in lots of words like "colour"?
I inherited the good cholesterol gene from my long-lived dad!
no, with real butter!
that is too funny, jmc, about the u's
but true!!! ruby
Lol JMC
husband accumulates plaque without eating any "bad" fats
if I could just eat white food, I would!
but you would be so limited on cheese ruby
oh dear what a shame ruby **sobs crocodile tears for husband's plaque**
sally you are in rare form today!
yes, but there's ice cream and white vegetables and I would include yellow (for butter, etc)
evening everyone
oh well if you include yellow. . .
hi katie. Do you have any recipes with hidden biutter?
hi katie
Hi, Katie
personally i need meat and tomatoes and spinach and basil and parsley and eggplants and. . . . .
Hi Katie
he won't even eat vichysoisse!
and I make the best potato pancakes!
can't you just start every meal that needs something fried or browned at the start with butter rather than oil?
I thought it was a crime in france not to eat vichysoisse
French meat, at least in this region, really isn't worth eating
I would have to use some olive oil too, or he might catch on
I love potatoe pancakes
are we trying to sneak it in for good or evil?
*thinks sadly of life without bbq ribs*
OK ruby. Plan B. I once wrote a short story about someone who encouraged her neighbour into an early death. She told him that someone fancied him, and what a good shape he was in. She encouraged him (knowing he had a bad heart) to do lots of exercise, go to the gym, go running.... I merely offer this as a random thought.
evil katie definitely evil
but this is certainly giving me some lovely and evil ideas!!!!!
the French have bad meat? I'm surprised. I thought all the food in France was terrific
oh good *evil grin*
Katie - welcome to the chog - loads of handy hints on how to murder your husband....
ruby has been complaining about the meat there since I met her!
*taking notes*
I've gotten him on a "fast-walking" program, 5 times a week
giggle, soodle. Actually I quite like mine :-)
All suggestions welcome......
good thing most of the guys are either not here or lurking
I was used to big American t-bones!
we dont want to make him healthier ruby
mmmmm steak!
Maybe it's only in comparison, but we would find it great
me too but it doesn't hurt to have a back up plan ;-)
they are hiding jmc
They are probably also making notes
maybe I could encourage him into VERY fast walking!
Sally!!! You have no business on here if you are fond of your husband!!
you can't blame them if they are lurking lol
pb sally
Well, I don't eat t-bones. The only red meat I eat is lamb.
I miss American meat!
anyone seen Nancy Boy recently?
i kinda liked my husband too but it is fun to scheme
Running up hills is definitely recommended for people with heart disease, especially if they are 85.
funnily, the halaal lamb here is better tahan the lamb I used to get in the US
saw NB yesterday
Soooor! Does it count if I used the plural?
he actually walks up hills.....
well they don't squeeze the death out of lamb like they do beef
NB was moving to a new place.
oh did they not solve things?
well yes sally it does count
the beef here is very lean, they don't use feed lots, I guess
no they did not - its done
not much to solve if leo was cheating on him
America is not known for its lamb. Most of the good lamb comes from down under
oh big hugs out to him!!!!
I hope his medical tests were negative!!!!
Poor NB.
Ive eaten beef, grass fed, in Argentina. Much more flavorful than American
from New Zealand and frozen. Here it comes from Lyon and is very fresh and wonderful.
**Finds hidden choclit in PB**
sometimes couples can move on but if not it's better that it was quick! At least he knows we are here for him
what medical tests?
I get my meat at Costco. Best value, best taste. Seafood too
you cant blame him for not being able to trust if he did this so early in a relationship
his BF was out and about, I'm afraid
frozen meat is okay -- frozen seafood not so much
i'm not sure I would be able to forgive but I do know people who have, let's hope I never have to find out
the seafoood here is even worse than the meat because we are so far inland except for lake fish
Sneaks out of PB. Sensible of him to have tests if that is what he has done.
of course, leo was a neophyte and probably was just seeing if it was NB or the real deal for being gay
But still very worrying.
but messing about in that situation is just too dangerous
but there is no reason NB should put up with it
football is about to kick off, I will try not to swear
*wear it==>*
did you watch the game this afternoon and see the bad call by the referee for the US goal?
who's playing I want to know who to root for
The refs have been uniformly bad today.
just looked up what neophyte meant lol
let's hope they improve tonight lol
gd night everybody, it's kick off time!!!! terrible refs!
When NB met Leo, Leo was with a girl, Katie.
bye ruby
Nite Rubes {{{{}}}}}
{{soodle}}
I hope it's 5-1 to us with James dropping a howler for the goal against
hi all :)
ahhhh didn't realise
bye ruby. This is a football-free zone in this house.
bye ruby
Sheepish grin....I looked up neophyte as well!
England is playing Algeria. Root for Algeria jmc, but many Babblers will be rooting for England.
and sally! and jmc! and katie! and hi and bye ata!
good night ((ruby))
bye ruby.
too right wht
{{{dancer}}}
Bye ruby
hubby swore in the first 15 seconds lol
let's see how england can mess things up tonight!
hi Ata
if England ties, does the US have a chance?
I need to get back to work now - bye for now
Hi, wht
Hi Ata. Got your vuvuzula at the ready?
bye jellen
why should i root for algeria?
And hi Ata. You need to look back in the chog since we have been discussing the best ways of murdering husbands.
Hi, Ata
you shouldn't jmc
Bye River. Keep the chin up. :)
there were some good tips ata
lol I saw!!! mine is back tonight after a week away
I do think ata and ruby ought to get together
bye river
murder by butter seems to be the best idea so far!
Because if they beat England it will be easier for the US to make it out of this round. (It is also an unlikely result. England is the much better team.)
And me!!!!
Been making, um, written transcripts, have you?
oh how lucky to have a week off ata - lol
oh i like underdogs!
would somebody please invite my DH? He can be very charming!
don't need transcripts just the archive
Anyway, I need to get back to work.
*-8-* go algeria go *-8-*
Do they really keep all this stuff? HAHAHAH
lol you were lurking wht?
Would he like to visit here ruby? We have a large pond and a steep drop to the stream.
have we got wht running scared - its OK wht - we like you...
and you could ask him to bring his waders to help you muck it out.....
it's been *lovely*!!
rofl ruby. We can lend him waders.
wht, it all depends on which team you're supporting!
I really do need to go back to work - see you all later
They might be a bit greasy on the bottom, though. Can't think how that happened!
Hay Ata!!!
bye dance
yeah the girls are all here except Haz
FM!
he almost drowned in our little fishpond once when he slipped and his waders filled up. The gardener dragged him out; I would have just stood there because he's much too big for me!
Haz is a bit busy ....
what is she doing
tonight is her big walk?
You need an ipond with earphones, then you don't hear them screaming.
Haz is geting ready for her moonlight walk this evening.
raofl!!!!!
rofl! I mean ipod, not ipond!!!
maybe we could short-circuit the ipond!
lmao I like ipond!
before you know it apple with be bringing an ipond out
ZAP!
*will
I have been building/boosting her up all day in the chog :)
Actually, if he visited, we have an electric fence. Perhaps I could wire it direct into the mains by mistake. Stupid women, never understand electricity.
lmao at Zap
can you invite my husband too, Sally?
mes. handy rubyfoo could help with the re-wiring!
hi all... back to finish up.. too much hilarity last night! Could not concentrate, still chuckling over the orchestra puns.
You want me to host a murder weekend?
we could get them all into the pond and then the big ZAP
Hi, Aloy
oooooooo what a good idea!
sounds like a great idea! I'll bring the booze!
lol Hi Aloy
Sorry, I meant an accidental death by misadventure weekend, of course.
patting hubby on the knee reasuringly that he's not going to a murder weekend
absolutely! Hi aloy!
chat has been so delightful lately! (-:
don't let him read the chog, Katie, he'll notify the local gendrames!
gendarmes*
Luckily my husband doesn't play babble or read the chog! He's safe anyway.
i'm hoping he isn't getting ideas lol
I'm still harping on about it Alody :)
he's lucky to have you, sally!
FM: your flowers are so gorgeous! You must have two green thumbs..
Gendrames must be police with acting abilities.
hi aloy!
sorry i missed the fun last night
can't type for laughing
thanks Aloy :)
howdy jmc.. jellen..
it was a laugh jmc.
you have such a lovely little garden fm :)
.. and to think you raised them seeds just amazes me, FM.. you should get a "MaMa Earth" award or something..
should i go read the archive later? about what time eastern?
*from seeds
awe thanks desar! Hows the leg?
I know it's been a long day, I've driven for 2 1/2 hours to get home and my leg is hurting but seriously how can I not get a 4 letter word when I know the first two letters and the points total
Did I miss a good chog last night? Must go and read the archive later.
tired!! lol. went for a longg walk earlier. I keep forgetting that leads to sleeping for 5 hours afterwards!
that kind of a grid, Katie.. don't feel too bad
*hands katie a hot tody*
Oh but good that it is healing but do take it easy hun!!!
ohhh I got it, big smile :-) Thanks jmc
*feels proud* at Aolys comment :)
I do try, I just sometimes forget that even 1/2 of noral is still too much!
well i am definitely getting no where on this grid
I slept for a couple of hours today too as I woke up at very early o'clock this morning,
c'mon jmc you can do it!!!
do you have slugs, FM? I know you can catch them with beer and I read that you could also sprinkle salt, but I'm afraid of killing the flowers with salt.. yet the slugs keep chewing away
i haven't even gotten close enough to nbt to ask for clues . . . sigh
Copper rings will protect some plants, Aloy
Nope - no slugs or snails here :)
in a hotel last night and some drunks came back at about 1 am and woke me up, they were talking for about 20 mins, I couldn't be bothered to put clothes on to go out to shout at them but it was a close run thing
use salt on the sidewalk/patio and under the rocks where slugs love to stroll for the evening
hope you have the bailbondsman on speed dial katie
beer traps do work well.
*imagines katie running nakid in the hall to yell at drunks*
someone I knew had beer and thought that it was just encouraging them round for a party there were so many of them
ty for that suggestion, jmc.. there are indeed rocks near the flowers.. FM, the only beer I had was left over from my "Octoberfest" dinner.. good German beer, gone to the slugs, sigh
LOL
that would have scared them away lol
go buy a six pack of Bud or something equally nasty and use it over the years.
ooh, finally found vi5
*looks at aloy waiting*
I have kept my hostas in pot to avoid any slugs and snails, but al lthe other plants seem to be doing fine.
vi + I have to think of a ***e clue for jmc because she is a ***e person
ty aloy
ty aloy
yw (-:
hmmm too short for nasty or nutty
LOL ..
i once lived down the block from a deli that sold live escargot
ooh, couldn't try that.. not after my gardening experience.. so slimy!
some escaped every night and i had so many snails in my backyard and in my house that i had nightmares about them
i've had them a few times in france, I quite liked them lol
oh no!!
used to love to eat them . . . basically a tool to serve garlic butter
what do they taste like? or do you only taste a sauce/butter?
lol yep, lovely with enough garlic butter
ah so..
where's Ruby?
Oh it is raining, yay!
think I prefer garlic bread
they taste like garlic butter coated rubber
chewy bit's in garlic butter aloy
when my 8 year old son and i went to disneyworld and ate at the "french" restaurant there we ordered escargot and the waitress said. . . .
does happy rain dance for FM
Booby-trapping her pond I think.
chew? ewwy !
"you do know those are snails"
snails could be they way to go lol
someone please tell me its ok to click the "place order" button on the wedding invitation website..........................
zap lol
if cooked properly they are not too chewy -- sorta like clams and calamari
I've eaten snails on several occasions and you ar right they really are a carrier for the garlic buuter.
as long as you have double-checked everything, Eva.. go for it!
*puts on rubber soled shoes*
have you checked your spelling EvaN?
just do it eva!
go go eva!
Especially get the name of the groom right.
yep that's what I was thinking sally
especially get the time and date right!
brb
or not if you want to keep the numbers down :)
lol, FM..
hmmm might not have been the reasurance EvaN was looking for!
almost have a no5.14 in my Babble Belt..
whew, alt spelling for the group of 8, oc7 .. didn't know it could be that way
hope it is not too far away from your pistol Aloy :)
Sounds like a female version, doesn't it.
BRB
right FM, so I can blast this grid to the archives!
yes, Sally.. can't be a small group as 8 means 8, maybe a group of 8 little people
order is placed! *breathes sigh of relief*
yeahhh well done EvaN
*Does happy dance for Eva*
wtg, Eva.. (-:
i guess theres no changing my mind now!
*snort* that's not really likely you radiate happiness
last word un6.24 = latin pl of the un5 before it.. so off I go to finish my laundry.. any clues needed ? (that way I can procrastinate, lol)
good grief, had to come home and pick the kid up from school, the mrs colonoscopy was for 11:30 am..they just took her in at 2:45!!:((
medical timekeeping at it's best!
indeed
hi crossy! hate it when you have to wait so long.. hope the mrs is feeling fine tho
kid should be here anytime and back to the hosp i go to see how she is doing
especially as it is not a nice thing anyway waiting for hours just makes it worse
last one of these she had hurt her,so i hope all goes better this time
*returns*
ooh, I hope so too!
{{hugs}} to crossy and mrs crossy. Now I have fireworks, and must be off to see if other half is OK.

sad thing is he takes after his daddy at that age;)
I'm sure that doesn't help when you are trying to keep him in line lol
indeed
Mother Natures way!! What goes around, comes around. LOL
a parents biggest gift to their child it letting them live long enough to get to voting age lol
lol crossy
Love kds but couldn't eat a whole one.
rubbish match, present has said that they will use the ad break to try and find something positive to say lol
well at least they aren't losing lol
oh dear do I need to go and change channels to see whats happening?
no, FM. it's VERY boring
oh good.
the US match was much more entertaining
I can't take all this excitement - am going to sigh off for the day and wish you all Happy Babbling and for Haz Happy Walking!!!
bye FM see you tomorrow
bye dear!!
i wouldnt call the US match entertaining. i would call it nail-biting! and unfair -- that last goal was totally good!
at least something happened in it
i must be missing something,i sat through the soccer match with u.s and whoever, and it was like watching paint dry:( reminded me of britt dart tourneys..20!! and another 20!..and why we wait for the next throw,i can tell you that sir snidley whiplash is from kent, collects beer taps and likes to collect sheep....lol
welp, this gal *points thumbs to self* is outta here for the weekend -- taking Ata's spirit to the etsy craft party tonight!
ooooo have fun!!!!!
maybe we can equip them all with hockey sticks and make it full contact;)
no, crossy, that's why it's called sport and not organised thuggery like ice hockey
lol ata, they keep the thuggery for the stahds
but each to their own i say
stands
Round 1 to Crossy! Seconds out........
lol
we don't have thuggery in the stands now thank goodness, happens miles away from the grounds now
so my rooting for algiers has been for naught?
algeria haven't been very interestying either ...
at least David James is back
I liked the fact that Great Britain refused to let some "known hooligans" get out of the country during the world cup
not at all jmc they are doing OK
not some, a lot. They have to go to the Police station with their passport everyday that the world cup is on
Ata, are you trying to upset me??????????
well i secretly want the brits to win but I like the idea of rooting for underdogs
tu
awwww sorry katie. i presume DJ is not your favourite?
we are the underdogs at the moment!
Rob Green is West Ham's keeper, therefore MY keeper, I've taken it all very badly and am very glad we don't all get sacked for one mistake
ohhhhh. I don't think Rob Green deserved not to play, either, but I'd have rather had David James from the start, so I'm in 2 minds
*blank look*
matches the looks on the faces of the england players jmc
lol katie
Casty just fell off the sofa - laughing very hard did not go down well
Hi again...
hi Jellen
Hi Jellen

does he still play?
Nope. He is on the sideline, but looking HOT!
ah well didn't he marry a spice girl?
(loved the movie bend it like beckham and that is the only reason i know who he is)
May I have a clue for oc 7, please?
sorry jell i don't have it
He did! Victoria aka Posh Spice
Jellen, extend the OC 5. Repeat the final cons and add a vowel
Ahh...Thanks Soodle

All of me is OK. lots of getting wet today, swimming and huge rainstorm...hair not dry yet.
waiting for the football to be over to go to bed red, how are you
wet is good in the heat
yes, its ok, the rainstorm wet I did not like. AS I got soaked to the underwear.
you wet your underwear?
the rain wet it for me!
either way - you have wet underwear!
*so she says^
good afternoon....need help with last six
no not anymore, I put all the wet in the wash!!!!
i just started, mpit, so likely not much help
hi Mpitt!
give it a go Mpitt, I might have some of them
I have 49 left. very slowly picking it apart.
ru 5/14, first to 5/12, to 6/27, tu 5/14, un 6/24 and vi 5/18...my monkeys are on strike and my brain just went blank...
i have 65 left
lol
hi red
Hi again...was summoned by his majesty...
I want to change my icon...but not sure if I want to do a clue for just change it...
Hi jellen
oh, he has gained royal status, has he?
to 6/27 what would be yelled in a fencing match meaning to equal
tell him he can not be king of the house until he gets a wedding ring n that finger!
gin and to5/12, fencers score to6/27, tu5/14 something between a shirt and a dress
Yes, kje...was sitting in the spa tub and decided he was bored...
un6/24 add a latin ending to the one above it
vi5/18 rhymes with a medical place
the others are the 4 I am missing lol
Tee hee!
ah... spa tub... now there is an idea
8 left and no un's!
ty dan, 3 to go
50 left... and likely un's!
2 left
ty 3 left the ru5/14, tu 5/14 between shirt and dress???, and the vi 5/18 medical place...thinking...scratching head...eyes are fluttering...
Woohoo...got the un's!
3 left...
longer than a shirt, shorter than a dress, often worn with leggings
tu5 like gin and to5
same ending for the vi5
gin and tu5's are likely a bad idea... could lead to serious flirting
ru5= ru* (move quickly on foot) + 2/3 frozen water
got it dan
also probably the ru5 MP
gin and tu5 haha
in5/12 is my last
isn't that what a toga party is?

dan - a speciality
can't believe it has been that long, there were no tile stat or babble expert way back then
that was a clue not a comment on the footy by the way
just don't end up in the hot tub after that or it will undo your point ; )
4 left, bbs
hurshy used to help me with clues and you had to print a list off and work with a pencil and a book when I started nearly 5 years ago
speciality isn't from the right-hand N, I don't think

co5,12 sounds like former late night host
I believe I have that one. Thanks!!
this is not an easy grid at all. guess thats the way of the short ones!
hey all!
help with the ch 5/14 please
ch + ***o Preminger
Phantom - Petite
I don't know who/what that is, jellen
nu* (church woman) + *hief *nformation *fficer
ch + vowel + double consonant
thanks jellen!
I think he was a director...
Thanks Jellen.
Cheer up, jellen, I also know who Mr. Preminger is. You are not alone in your geekdom!
ahh, I tried googling it, but nothing close to that came up
Love old movies...
MizHoffle -- if you Google "Preminger" he's the first four entries. Apparently he's not as obscure as I thought he was. :)
Just checking did my new photo upload properly....
well, I just did it in the IE bar and it listed other Premingers
Oh, you're using Bing. Well, then, all righty, I s'pose.
it's google
<------- Buster! Our new rescue doggie. :)
Adorable, Soodle...
We're thinking about getting a dog...
I didn't even know that IE had an option to use Google. They're ridiculously exclusionary; when did they give their customers options to go open source/
I don't know...maybe something to do with Windows 7
oh Soodle! is he a spaniel??!!
Might be. I haven't even looked at it yet
Pure Mongrel, Ata-Hari! Spaniel ears, though!
very spaniel ears!!!
he's certainly got some cocker / springer in there somewhere!
how *gorgeous*
Yay for mongrels!
Pure bonkers!! Life is one long round of cleaning up pee, pooh, and trying to recover assorted socks, mats, sweeping brushes etc from the jaws of Buster!!
I need a co5/12 please. I have the one that sounds like a former late show host. Thanks,
I need that one too, bettyanne
definitely spaniel in there somewhere then!!! LMAO. how old is he?
He looks like a puppy
Only 9 weeks old.
c + double vowell + double vowell
oooooo! he's going to be big!!
Thanks Jellen.
Oh, goody, you get to watch him grow up and get quirky!
every moment of stress is worth it though, soodle :)
His paws are huge, but his legs are short! I will take more photos tomorrow. (I feel like a doting mom, but you just couldn't help loving this little fella!)
we want new photos Every Day!!
you'll always find people quite willing to listen to puppy drivel here for hours!
Did I miss his name?
Buster! But a neighbours child has been calling him Budget, which I fear, might stick.....
Buster!!!
Hi everyone I'm Izzy I just signed up so I thought Id introduce myself :)
okay, I completely blind..can't find that co5/12
did you call him Buster or was that the shelter's name?
hey Izzy!
welcome!
Welcome Izzy!
Hi Izzy! Welcome to not a very easy grid!
Thanks guys :) And yeah it doesnt look that easy lol :)
hi everyone, just 6 left, so i might finish before midnight. miz, that word you're looking for is something you call out.
Hi Guernseygirl :)
hi izkat
Hi, girl
:) Not doing too good, only found 8 words so far out of the 76 left...
hi jellen. has anyone got a clue for the pi8 please?
Ata - we took one look at him, and decided there and then that he was, indeed, a BUSTER! Besides, I used to be a big fan of Enid Blyton's Five Find-outers, and they had a dog called Buster, and if its good enough for the Five-Find-Outers, well, its good enough for me!
pi 5 + not in
perfect!!
ty jellen, that sounds like an American word
watch out for 'ch' endings.... i keep tripping over them.
all dogs end up with 5 names anyway :)
I feel really stupid...still can't find the co 5/12
Hi, jmb
so glad you've got such a lovely neww dog soodle
I misread the last clue!
it's a word you would call out if you wanted to catch someone's attention
co* (what doves say) + 2nd vowel, doubled
hello everybody
I really am stupid
Hi, jac q
Thank you GG.:)
hi jacq
Hi jacq
I read double vowel + double consanant
no wonder I couldn't find it
hi Izkat
The one thing I love about this chat is everyone is so nice and friendly. Its quite nice being on here :)
off to work, but I will finish this puzzle, to redeem myself
Okay Miz xxx
so many four-letter words i can't find.
Later, Miz
yes iz, people are very welcoming. where are you based?
I am in the UK :)
Tho, you mightn't have thought so earlier, Iz, when the chat revolved around was
which part? the part that's getting a summer or my part that isn't?
I'm off to bed I think. Welcome Izzy! Yay for another UK person! *snuggles Buster muchly* :D
sorry, ways to murder husbands!!
good night, Ata
:D Goodnight Atalante its been nice talking to you xx
Nite Ata-Hari.
G'night, Ata
And jacq we havent had much sun down her unfortunately
hi n bye ata
i wouldn't have been able to contribute to that topic - no husband to murder
it's awful here i had to put the heating on it's about 5 or 6 C
Wow
That doesnt sound very summery!
ohhhhhh i used to do that, i thought of so many elaborate ways, i didn't care about getting caught by the police
Although we havent had as much sun its been quite hot
i was more worried i wouldn;t do it right and he'd come get me lol
story of my life lately - Hi all
I think its around 34 degrees C here...
wow too hot, a summer of extremes
lots of other people i'd like to murder, though
heya river
Some very ingenious plans were hatched earlier!
Hi, River
well with rubys husband being 85 and all - we thought murder by butter would be good
oh i thought about hairdrier in the bath, electrifying the door handles, poison, food poisoning all sorts
Hi River - I was just filling the others in on the murder plots.....
i'll have to read through the archives for ideas when the homicidal urge comes over me
LOL death by butter
sounds like a desert
lol
oh wasnt it fun
and I was taking notes
not that women are vindictive, but men do drive us insane at times
**thinking at times? more like all the time**
you just have to remember that they are a different species
too true
alien?
from way beyond mars
definately animal
planet x
further, further
oh definately animal
Lol
couch potatoes must be vegetable
mostly pig
bacon and chips
cant say either one of those about mine
oh, jacq, now your sounding vindictive
fries for our american cousins
he is the opposite - cant sit so doesnt expect anyone else to sit
i am remembering my ex leaving everything at his feet and refusing to help after my hysterectomy, sorry i guess i did get vindicitve
couch fries??? does have a ring to it...
quiet reasonably so by the sound of it jacq
lololol
time for me to go - anyone need any clues before I am off....
have just started, but thanks river, have a good weekend
Bye River
oh yes river, do you have the first to5/12?

You betcha, River. Speaking of gin...... A nice G&T would go down well now.
I need a treat too - made it 8 weeks not smoking
congratulations, river, you must be very pleased with yourself
**patting self on back**
Good for you, River!
especially with my sons emergency this past weekend, I made it
Oooooh, well done River. Not easy, (said Soodle, reaching for one)
thank you and SooDLE ....
i'm trying to lose a stone, but i'm stuck at six pounds. the gin and t**** won't help
Slimline to***, GG?
I dont think there is any calories in gin - if there is then switch to vodka - use diet soda - youre good to go
not the same
what is a stone?
but yes, the next best thing
14 pounds
i thought there were calories in all alcohol
i'm trying to gain 7 lbs and it's hard
i weighed nearly 12 stone and i want to weigh nearly 11 stone
Dunno, GG. If it meant the difference between a G&T and no G&T, I would go for the slimline!!
oh, I can help there - make that recipe on my profile
drink more jacq!
you only need to use one stone guernsey? Lucky you!
that recipe sounds absolutely wonderful, but it's the reason i'm trying to get my weight down now.
*lose not use
Soodle sticking fingers in ears and humming La la la very loudly till all this talk losing weight goes away.....
ahh - I made it last week for my book group - its a hit
i have a very bad back problem and i really need to keep my weight within reasonable limits
soodle - with quitting, my big clothes are now my small clothes so ...... will deal with that one at some point
changing the subject, has anyone got vi5/18
sorry to hear that guernsey
I know. But at least you are dealing with the smoking. I need to lose weight AND quit smoking. :(
vi + hippie beat ***
oh, its ok, river, i'm used to it now
vi 5 rhymes with a medical place

I'm doing well...still trying to find a job! Ugh! I hate job searching. Any contact with...him?
Oh same, Magyk - when I first came to London I was frantic about finding a job! What kind of thing are you looking for? And...not really. There have been several 'incidents' since what happened, so I didn't tell him where I was going. Best he doesn't know!
Well right now I'm working in an elementary school but because it's summer...nothing! I'm wanting to come back to Europe for a time. I miss it.

oh yes Magyk, a great deal of family over there - none of whom I'm in contact with, though. When I was disowned, my family here sent the message across to them that I'd died, and there is the language barrier as well...I suppose one day I'll go and alert them to my existence.
hello trif.
hello TO
I just want to hug you...may I?
Hello, Trif :) I'm well thanks - and yourself?
LOL, Magyk! It's alright - old news now ;)

Hi Babblers, how's the grid today?
grunt....
its OK jilly
it is,she has what they call a tortous colon
small so dive in
what is that crossy
hi jilly
Hi Jilly
several twists in a elongated colon
oh - so not so easy doing the scope - ugh
Crossy, saw this on the internet this morning and thought of you .... for when you can have your bacon feast" http://www.delish.com/recipes/ cooking-recipes/top-bacon-recipes
Wow...truly small...hmmm. Hi Mom!
oh oh, busted, sweetie just came in the house
but it went well, and thee rx for a twisted elongated colon is,fibre, fibre,FIBRE, and lots of water intake
but Mom since he is a sweetie, he wont mind
ok peops out for ride with hubby..he wins
tc joanne
hm - that interesting crossy - lots of fibre will straighten it out - hm...

gn all and thanks for the laughs
good night angelina
cant help but rolf - yesterday we are chatting about peeing and today about bm's - what is this world coming to.....
good idea mom, capsuses are an easy way to boot your natural fibre intake
when i start in chat, anything can,and does happen
boost
or what is this babble coming to anyway......
I heard exercise...dancing!! Go to a silent disco ;)
why do I want silent
lol nb,i personally killed disco in march of 1979;))
oh was that you????
yup, tried to dance to bee gee,s "staying alive" whilst wearing bell bottom cords and big toed 2 tone platform shoes
Hi NB...any luck with sleeping?
think I may have seen you - did you have a silky wide collared shirt
A silent disco River...basically a big room with all the disco stuff apart from the music. Everyone plugs in their ipods or mp3 players and just dances to their own music - it's so much fun!!
biiiig wide collared shit
Hi, Jilly :) and it's getting a lot better, thank you :) still not back on track, but at least I'm not dropping down from exhaustion anymore!
my son plays i-pod russian roulette with his friends
I must come to NB's town - never heard of such a thing - would love it though
brb - dryer buzzer sounding
Great! I went thru sleep issues for about 2 years. New form of torture I think. Anyhow, it is soooo nice to sleep again, only 6 hours but it's straight thru solid sleep.
lots of music festivals have them now, River ;) strange idea but it works
what they do is gather around with a single i-pod full of their favorite music and set it to shuffle, and select a single song to be the "bullet" usually a celine dion tune lol
oh Jilly, you don't realise how important sleep is until you start missing it. EVERYTHING is wrong!
lol Crossy!
Ya, really a basic human need. I think I'd rather starve than go thru lack of sleep EVER.
my apnea told me the import of real sleep,i was sleeping 1.5 hours a night for months before i got the cpap machine
reminds me of a great deal of inventive drinking games...you put the box onto MTV and drink everytime you see a woman in an outfit that makes you wince.
we used to do the same with the old bob newhart show nb,everytime someone said "hi bob" you took a sot lol..nothing is really new under the sun kiddo
shot
I'd be drinking rather often with that cue!! LOL
Lol Crossy! Try it with Lord of the Rings. Drink everytime somebody looks meaningfully into the distance - sometimes there just isn't enough alcohol
or watch antiques roadshow and everytime you hear the word"veneer" lol
rofl...good one crosshair...
or the smurfs when you hear "poppa smurf!"
oh we could do that in babble land - but - oh yeah but after a while we wouldnt be able to tell what everyone was typing....
Lol Crossy - we used to do that with teletubbies. tubby custard, tubby toast...
so does anyone need clues before I make my way over to neighbors for bonfire
OMG - teletubbies - do you know what I went through to find a blue one for christmas how many years ago - fighting other mothers off....it was brutal
killed the chat again - third time today - guess its time to leave
what I remember was the big fuss here that the purple one was gay...what idiots people can be....good reason to drink!
Hello again...
I remember that - got to run - neighbors are now calling through woods
Hi jellen :)
bye riverd
((group hug)) good night all
*POOF*
Bye, River
I'm liking using Lickety...you can see better progress on the grid!

unrelated: i need to trim my nails. can't type for beans.
Me too...we might try to get a referral to M.D. Anderson in Houston...it's the top-rated facility...
(figure you're probably tired of talking about it! just want to let you know i'm thinking of you.)
that's not kje's is it?
How do you manage to have nails with Kindergartners?
No...she's in Dallas...
lol, i don't for very long.
have been lucky for some reason, and this one first finger has gotten fairly long, by my standards. we're talking a quarter of an inch here, lol
ugh, you know the grid is bad when C is your best letter in it

co 7 = camp bed + Ben *** (Movie famous for it's chariot race) + consonant

struggling with the grid.
hi Min, how are you this evening, welcome to the grid

No story tonight Min?
we are having strange weather here, too LBD, watch out for low humidity and a strange bright light in the sky...
hi min
I am looking for a clue tor the ru5,14 for fireworks.

i love knitting books. covet them actually
lol stid....just one cousin, for me. Two sisters, one niece, one cousin, my pastor, and an actual friend or two.
lets see there are the 3 twisted sisters and i am their evil cousin
knitter! I am KNITTING something for my mother -- a sort of neck-warmer/scarf thingy that has an actual pattern to it -- AND it's on circular needles. :-D
i was actually growling while shelving them as they weren't alphabetized correctly and it was taking me forever to fix them
fun!
whoooo stid! way to go!
We have tom's cousin (scrabs) and Mother, and riemann (family friend).
go stid! dawg- any books that do not fit into the alphabet are always welcome here
And of course all kinds of babble-kin we have acquired over the years. :-D
our church is knitting up layette item for some charity or another -- my mom is like a factory!

she is actually doing really well. the med seems to be helping. she is much more in tune with the world now. nice to see
I bet Stidgmere has a lot to offer with her years of experience, not to mention the passion for teaching.
I hope the meds help my mom too. she is batty batsh*t most of the time now
insurance companies and administrators rule the world!
