it's easier to shorten than it is to "add" length!!!
for sure pini
well, they make guys' pants in various lengths...
...and if it's not one extreme, it's another...went to a ladies tall shop once, bought a pair of pants and had to cut 6" off!

Lego is in the grid. If you're a parent, and you haven't painfully stepped on a Lego, then you just haven't bought your children enough Lego. It's as simple as that.

No 471. Daresex. I will if you will.
I see some Welsh folk here - sorry, just one. Hi Dachef. Did you know we have a new PM, born in Wales?

#472 - legfar - a long walk
yes, its all part of our cunning plan. Soon we will be in all offices of power.
then the world can look out. It'll be all night parties and rugby all round. Marvellous.
Lol!
You've had Lloyd George as PM in Britain. Now a PM in Australia. How many more countries can the Welsh conquer?
If they're Welsh women, who cares?
It was a near thing with Kinnock, of course.
My granny was welsh
You'll find that most Australians will now be able to trace their roots to Wales.
No 472. Texogel. Hair product maunfactured in Dallas.
True!
i think most aussies would agree that the welsh/aussie mentality is much the same.
i.e. we both hate the english!!!!!
#473 - gorfax - a communication about carnage
Morning Babblers ... what did we do to you Dachef
keep beating us at rugby.
Good morning, Norma.
LOL
Morning Haz what a beautiful day again

#484: lostuna: a large fish that inexplicably finds itself in a duckpond in Kent.
#484 - lostera - uncharted history
An early good morning, but what's with all the numbers appearing in your chat?
Hello, Mudd. It's Dachef's fault.
He started posting words that inexplicably don't appear in any dictionary, but really should.
I'm confused!
Good morning all......are we all well and happy???
Good morning, Flask, lovely day gain.
No, I should be sleeping, but can't. I have to drive later and I'm af**** I'll be sleepy then.
If you look at the words and the definitions - they're not real, just a bit of imagination used.
Mmmm.......very dull and cooler here Haz....
runny rund
Lovely day again, that should be. Enjoying the warm weather, Flask?
I'll send some sunshine across!
Please do..;-)
pb Mr. P
Where did everyone go?
Just doing the grid, Mudd.
Everyone was talking about sunny days and all of a sudden it got so quiet.
It happens. There'll be quietness for a while and then it'll all start up again.
How many 8's are there please?
4 8 letter words
And 6 7 letter words.

I have the ex-
Wow, good placing of the 'x' tile ... in the middle of lots of words.
Yes, it gets used a lot, unlike yesterday's x that just sat there.
Just tripped over a babblet. We have a love/hate relationship, depending on how keen my brain is at the moment.
You must learn to love them.
I usually do.
I must take a break - maybe see you later. Bye for now!
*gone*
me too, bbl, need coffee
I am finished!
The chat has been quiet for almost an hour. Where is everybody?
See y'all tomorrow, I guess. Happy lurking and babbling.
hello everybody!
reading over the chat, dazchef's words were hilarious
is anybody here?
hi ruby :) just read back over dazchef chat... love it!
it was really funny and very clever!
I love puns!
I have one for gelsox!
.....
knee sox that stay up?
sox with gel pads in the bottom!
hahah
wouldn't they be good!
I patent them first!
are you a socks person? Here, the women don't wear socks or hose, even in winter
nuterol - colesterol free nut butter
I only wear slip on shoes, no sox... year round!
rutsox: to wear to work at your boring job
that's not the only shocking thing they wear where you are, Ruby!
too funny. I wear socks, even in summer with espadrilles
ha!! love it
have you been watching the World Cup NB? Did you see Japan win last night, what happy kids!
Loved Slovakia's win!
I am really caught up in the whole thing and my husband couldn't care less!
world cup? I'm allergic to sport unless I'm playing it ;) something very funny happened here though...during the game yesterday, parts of England got a blackout whilst the score was still nil-nil! People were going crazy
too funny!
and can you imagine that No. Korea had live coverage for the first time when they got whipped the other night. I felt really bad about that as they were a very gentlemanly (and tall!) team
Good Morning Babblers
{{dancer}}
Hmm. North Korea? Nice of them to take time out from sinking our ships, anyway.
hello river
but I thought that both Koreas played valiantly (and cleanly) compared to some of the thuggish teams!
All footballers are thugs, if you ask me! It's all that spitting. I can't stand how much they spit.
I think sexer is a word: somebody who determines which are hens and which are roosters
lightens them up NB
I don't mind that
as long as they're not chez moi!
I think it's seriously foul. Oh, and good morning, River! :)
as usual, 1st 50 words are cake!
spitting isn't pulled up in any sport, unless they spit at an opponent
You know though, there were some fans there from the ROK who went just so they could see the players from the DPRK - they'd never seen people from the north before. Isn't it bizarre?
thats 50 - quick start
but wasn't it funny that the north hired Chinese actors to impersonate fans?
huh?
I guess there is more to this than just the game - must start watching
more sad than funny. I feel so lucky to have been born in the south, where you're allowed to leave.
Hello\
hello herin
Hi Herin
HELllllllo hugs
how are you all?
I have my sons pre-op visit today so am a little scared
I do two things these days: watch World Cup and make jelly
do you have any anti-anxiety pills to take?
Grin at Ruby. Blessing with you River
wish I did
we will be thinking of you and wishing him well and you strong!
its only pre-op - the big one is July 6
oh River, all the best to you! I'm sure it will be absolutely fine
a Ruby Tuesday!
thats right - will have to remember that on that day
goooodbye, Ruby Tuesday, who could hang a name on you? I love that song ;)
thanks you all for your support
won't forget for one minute! we'll all sing to you both!
hi infern!
PRessie
how are the challenges of life going for you?
weeell, I'd better be off. Landed the 2pm-4am shift today and tired just thinking about it. Have fun, all.
Eating Caramello chockie
bye NB, that is a long shift!!!
bye nancyboy
bye NB
poor herin, I guess somebody has to eat that!
what the 220gm block in a day
it's two shifts back to back. don't tell the government ;) bye all! and good luck, River
love caramello choclits
its only 7:20 am here - need breakfast before choclits though
a friend took me out for breakfast -- cafe au lait and tarte au rhubarbe!
yum - yes rhubarb is in season - along with the strawberries for pie
hmmm
next year I'll have my own strawberries -- just planted 12 little plants this year and they're sending out lots of runners
and they'll have all the space they need
have a great day have to go now
we had alot of strawberries this year but they were small but sweet
bye herin
I have to go, too. Back to the battle of the weeds!
have a good day (((Ruby)))
I think with strawberries, small is better. In Florida, they were big, beautiful and tasteless
hopefully, these will be better and will be at the same time as our raspberries and (sour) cherries
hmmm for a triple berry surprise
bye dancer!!!
bye ruby
quite a few unusual words in this
yes there are
monkeys are working overtime
hey all
ruby, were you the person who recommended homeopathic remedy for my cat?

Ruby is gone - off to weed

Good Morning Nono

MrP, long time no see. how have you been?
((hugs)) nono! good to see you too! still recovering, but happy to be here!
good to hear that recovery is progressing
poor Maddison is off to hospital next week. She has an attendance rate of 50% at school, so she has to go for assessment/observation
a belated thank you ... I had to watch my oatmeal. Have a great day everyone.
she will be there for 2 weeks, with teachers to help her with school work she has missed.
enjoy the oatmeal Merk
great day to you too Merk
MrP, has Maddison been ill?
bye merk
I hope all goes well for you and your family. We'll be praying for you, as we often do for our babble family members that are struggling.
Bye.
thanks all :)
Maddison gets ill, can't move for a few weeks, and there is no explanation. So she is going to be an inpatient until they sort it out.
how old is she mrp
oh my, She certainly has my prayers.
she is 12 river
thanks nono :)
that has to be scary for her
Sorry to hear about your daughter, Mr P.
Has she been assessed for ME?
what is ME?
and you to - I know what I am going through with my son - its very hard on the parent
maybe we can share in some good anxiety pills
She is angry that she is sick... she loves school and is a very popular girl. It frustrates her and she doesn't know why she is sick all the time
http://www.meresearch.org.uk/informati on/whatisme.html
ah yes river! I take green ones!
thanks pinpop, will take a look
It's also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
My cousin had ME for several years, and alternated between being full of life and normal, and so exhausted that she had to be in a wheelchair
wow! poor cousin! so sorry for her
Check out this site too http://www.meassociation.org.uk/
My cousin's well now. She suffered throughout her school years, but is a really clever kid and managed to get into Cambridge University and study law, and is now a barrister and completely better
that is an incredible story pinny - good for her
Maddie is very clever too!
wishing your daughter well mrp - hopefully they will find the problem and fix it
She isn't happy that they can't find a cause
thanks river
i understand that - it must be horribly frustrating for her
of course, she knows that the docs will think it is psychosomatic... it angers her
A very good morning to everyone!
hi Mom
Hi ((Mom))
hi mom!
for many years, ME was considered a fake illness because symptoms would vary from case to case, and people would get better for a while and then have a relapse. It's only in the last few years that it's become a recognised illness - caused by a virus
Hi Mom
it sounds to me like that is something you should suggest to Maddies Doctors that they look for Mrp
{{Nono}}, {{River}}, {{MrP}}, and {{Pinny}} so good to see al of you. MrP, haven't seen you in ages, nice to see you
Good to see you too Mom! I've been missing my babble buds this week
a busy week Pinny?
indeed! i start my new job on 6th july so i've been rushing around trying to get my contract signed and delivered, buying a new work wardrobe and arranging my first trip to boston (where my head office is based)
also, spent all of tuesday in hospital because my girlfriend was being induced with her first baby and her husband wasn't allowed to take the day off work!
Oh Pinny, congratulations!!! Headed to Boston to boot. They wouldn't let him off work, that is horrible
babies! wonderful !! sad that hubby couldn't be there!
I wish you well in your new job.
thank you - i'm thrilled :D
what will you be doing?
oh that is just so wrong Pinny, His boss should be shot
he was there from tuesday night onwards, and the baby didn't arrive until thursday afternoon
congrats on the new job Pinny
i'm the internal communications and organizational development manager for a VERY big american company...
my office is based here in london, but the global HQ is in boston so i'll be out there a few times a year (which is the best bit of the job!)
goodness! that was a long labor. I hope Mom and Baby are doing well?
baby was 2 weeks overdue, but she arrived yesterday and apparantly they're both doing really well
maybe we can have a babble meet - I am an hour and a half away

maybe you can meet up with River instead
there are some babblers in Mass too - would be fun
how long will you be in Boston?
oh! how cool! we can talk about not smoking ;)
there you go, babble and not smoking, two bonds already
i'm coming for a week this trip, but won't be able to meet up as i'll be back to back with meetings and getting to know my new colleagues, but there will be more trips to follow!
your first day is the day of my sons surgery so that wouldnt work anyway. Maybe later in the year if you make it out
i did actually crack and smoke 9 cigarettes in one evening (very stressful day when i had to pick between this job and another), and then stayed awake all night feeling sick and unable to sleep
give me a shout if you ever have a layover at CVG airport
oh Pinny, to go between no job and then having to choose between 2
oh no - I have come close lately myself but havent given in - called friend to talk me off the wall
will do! at least i never need to feel alone in the states now, as i'll have a babblebud in almost every town (like a girl in every post)
i mean 'port'
lol Pinny
don't do it river - it was GROSS
I wont - have my son to think about
he is in my thoughts and prayers River
today is his pre-op visit - needless to say I am alittle scared
Pinny can you tell us the name of the company? Do they have offices in places other than Boston and England?
it's thomson reuters
certainly hope all goes well River! He will be in my prayers
I can't imagine what you are going through
thanks Nono
what happened river?
he collapsed a couple weeks ago when his heart rate went over 300 - is having an issue with the electrical pathway in his heart - they need to do an electophysio study/catheterization
oh gosh! that's terrible
really wish him better
so today we meet with the doctor that is going to perform the procedure - procedure is supposed to last 8-10 hours
my husband had the elctrophysio study done several years ago
8 to 10 hours seems a long time but then they found hubby's problem right away so maybe it would have taken longer if not
they told me this is going to be very long until total anesthesia so he will feel very hung over for a couple of days
did your husbands last that long
whoops - how did that happen?
babble hiccups :)
maybe pediatric takes longer??? will find out more today
be sure to let us know, River
yes please do River
I will
Pinny you still there - didnt mean to steal your thunder - that is very exciting about your new job

(haha, as soon as I say that, they seize up)
thats good. My aren't flowing yet
perhaps your grammar is stopping them.LOL!
lol m9, to get some of these words, you have to forget all grammar and spelling!! just monkey around until voile!
a lightweight woven fabric?!?!?!? ROFL!
Good Morning Fellow Babblers. How are you all this morning?
flosey, I'm shocked. Imagine telling anyone to forget all grammar and spelling. The idea!
lol Haz, and Good Morning to you

Hi again Nef - told you I'd be here with you today
words are coming a little easier than they did last night
Good morning/afternoon all.

Hey Nef

Afro afro afro. Dammit!
ah, Judi, a fellow cancerian!
i tried that too Judi
flosey, it's obviously a plural. Try the singular in the dictionary.
rofl!
go the other way, Judi and get af 6/30
I'll be the pedant and point out that it would have to have a capital letter.
so it's a Proper Noun, Haz?
I changed my icon. The crab was so yesterday.
well I better refresh then!
ex8? help!
It's because it relates to African, I think.
PFFFTH!
ex8 - technique of critically analysis of text.
hmmm, not in my oxford dictionary
ex, two letter for example, a vowel and a shortened female sibling.
well, DH tells me I have to get dressed and be ready for his first therapist visit soon. BBL. Happy Babbling all!
Bye, Nef.

ty for the ex8. Fireworks!
Congratulations, mixi!
go5 - means gaseous oxygen plural according to dictionary .reference.com
someone recently told me that if you place chestnuts around your house it can rid you of spiders - apparently they don't like them - will have to wait until Christmas to find some
thanks mixi
ty for the ex 8
lol, flosey,i never see any whole active spiders, all i hear is crunching and see a leg or 2 poking out of one of the cats mouths
I thought salty fish word was a plural in and of itself... huh.
You're welcome, Boo.
hmmm, our cat must be vegan!! he doesn't seem to bother with them
the cats usually leave the spiders, I do sometimes find a palmetto bug missing a leg or two. Yuck!
flies and spiders for ours, thee steer clear of anything beetle like
not getting the latin example part of that clue haz
whatever letters lay in the path to get you to the last part I figure..

Haz!!! good afternoon, I have not long since sent you an email.

I plan to.

I have given up everything else... but not my coffee.. *holding cup* ..."from my cold dead hands". (quoting Charleton Heston)
it's how I start my day FM
me too, flosey!!
I do have the odd decaf cup at home sometimes. Tea is my kick in the morning.
choice: attempt to drink coffee or sleep at night.
every morning, coffee is the first thing. ahhhh
decaf is warm brown water...
Just checking e-mail now...
yes ru, with the jolt removed
the caffine in coffe makes me too twitchy.
No rush Haz, nothing urgent or important :)
same here fm,after 2 cups of coffee i actually feel unwell
bye see y'all tomorrow.
decafinated coffee makes me bitchy
clue for the last fr 5/16

Avoid anything featuring Mahut and Isner...
but first, will change icon - tomorrow's is 'your wedding photo'
that's over. was yesterday
hello everybody
how is the grid today?
Well, strictly speaking it was Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. A woman's match would be the best bet, they hardly get time to work up a sweat.
Hello, jacq, quite a nice grid today.
ty
Oh crossy that is a classic I love it!
Hello jacq!
what's toDAY's icon?
heya fm
clue Friday m9 - take a word from the grid and put up an icon to clue it.
oh!!
Haz, I hadn't realised when we were talking yesterday that the match had started the day before.
Every Friday is clue Friday for those that want to participate.
Yes, abandoned on Tuesday evening because of poor light (first four sets played), all of Wednesday was the final set, spilling over into Thursday.
Talking of which I am still on yesterdays theme, BRB
Haz - great clue - thanks
ok...done
You're welcome, smaand.
Congratulations m9!
Congrats m9!
Haz was just perusing my pics and came across this <---------
you may need to F5
Oh, the memories!
*grin*
pls reload to see my clue icon if you want to
It's kind of the opposite of fr6/33
nice sue!
can I get a clue for the U for nbt

un4 - reverse an action
un4/6 - reverse your action
Hello, everyone!
Look at that! Spooky.
ty
I hear X-files music.
nbt
Wel if it isn't dear Vi again - greetings!
That's what everyone always says when I arrive. ;)
Hello, Vicuna! Greetings to you and the Twins of Glory.
Hi Vicuna
twins of glory?
FM - use the icon clue for sa5/16.
LOL I almost put of a pic of the DoG
Hello, hello. Congrats to your fellow countryman, Haz. FM, are you still melting?
Herin had a cat of glory, Vicuna has twins of glory.
My offspring, ruru.
yup and will be more melted tomorrow :)
Thank you, Vicuna, we're extremely proud.
It was hot here yesterday, but seems more pleasant today.
first fa.. the fa 5/18?
I have come up with a cunning plan as Blackadder or is it Baldrick would say ... going to get up very early to do stuff tomorrow and then siesta for a while.
Cunning indeed, FM. lol
fa5/18 is a unit
fa 5/18 like miss faucet's first name and ends in a consonaunt
of capacitance
Oh darn Boo beat me to it.
sorry FMitch
your clue was better than the one i was trying to throw together :)
thank you.. new one for me
My plan is just to sit in front of the computer all day with the windows shut and the blinds drawn. Heh.
yw
(Actually, can't do that anyway. I have loads of matting and framing to put together in the next week.)
Oh do you have a show coming up soon?
is the ge 7 a fishy ge?
Only if a fish makes hand movements.
Yeah, up for the month of July. "Artists Talk" and reception on the 12th. I never do receptions, but they talked me into it.
lol..
it is..thanks haz
clue for go 5/24
You're welcome.
Oh great Vi, may it go very well.
go5/24 - g plus a liberal helping of bovines.
lol Haz is just the ultimate cluemeister :)
Hope so. I envision myself standing awkwardly with a single stranger!
Okay, that's just a Seussian word.
And I don't even charge, that's the amazing thing.
I sincerely doubt it Vi dear.
Haz, you're just amazing through and through, dear!
Well, thanks for the vote of confidence, FM. =)
She is almost like Mary Poppins, almost perfect in every way - well apart from not being able to sew or find her glasses or remember when the car needed it MOT - but apart from that she is perfect :)
I know. Mary Poppins wouldn't lose her glasses, would she?
mary poppins would have lasik surgery
unless she put them in her capacious carpet bag, in which case they would never be seen again given what came out of it.
MAry Poppins was too vain to wear glasses. SHe's really a very unpleasant character in the book. But Haz is more like the Julie ANdrews version.
Hello, Could I have a clue for the bottom e please?
I wish I could sing like Julie Andrews. I wish Vicuna could sing like Julie Andrews, come to that.
actually Haz ...looks a bit like Julie Andrews..don't you think?
True, ruru!
eg5/10 - what goes in sometimes comes out.
*mutters something inaudible about being unappreciated*
ROFL
don't undersand the go 5 clue
Sorry couldn't hear that Vi, I had my ear plugs in.
go5 - rhymes with vixens in carboard cartons
boo... g + 0 4/9
go5 - to rhyme with plural of the red furry creature hunted on horseback in England
or not so much anymore Haz.
Tallyho!
I thought the plural of ox ended in an n.
No, that's true.
Not getting that e by the way.
It can be both, it seems.
eg plus a direction minus a vowel.
hi all, on break. ugh, hunting - hunters are the same people who pulled wings off flies as kids
Thank you Haz
Hello, NB.
You're welcome, Becca.
I went drag hunting a couple of times when I was in the Pony Club but wouldn't like to have done the real thing.
Hi NB,
Hunters are more often interested in the riding than in the hunting in my experience.
anyone clue st8/65? please
ok. I should have left a while ago... eek. *poof*
Byee m9
st8 - plural of st6/33. Ends in choppers.
Then why don't they just ride, Haz? :P
and hello, Becca - haven't seen you around here in a while :)
I'm here occasionally , when I can sneak a game in!
haz sorry dont get it
st8 - plural of st6/33. st plus either **, first two letters of something used to chop wood.
Then make it plural.
great - gottem, ty ++
You're welcome.
How old is bablyLorum now?
Haz yes I can see how useful those words will be in conversation:)
I just don't see any 'sport' in killing something. Is there a more disgusting prospect than that?
And I must be off. Meat to cook, dogs to walk, it's all go around here.
LOL Daykat
Bye HAz, glad to have caught up with you.
Farewell, Haz. So nice to see you - (it's been a while!)
sory just on phone
It has, VI, see you soon, hopefully.
NB I remember when I was a kid in UK my dad was groom for a Gent who rode to hounds. Horrible experiences, as first child at the kill
He's 2 in 2 weeks FM. GOt to go he just woke up. Bye
oh, how awful, Daykat :( must have been quite traumatic to see
OK Byeee!
and time for me to head off to.
it was, still haunts me
Oh, congratulations, Becco - I think parents should get the credit for those birthdays! And goodbye.
Oh, goodbye to FM, too. (Feeling abandoned!)
Lovely to see you Vi, a tout a l'heur.
I never understood the concept of hunting..
We have foxes in Aussie only because the Brit settlers wanted something to hunt. Go figure that one!!
Quite, Ruru. It's totally barbaric, nasty.
*shaking head at the insanity of humanity*
clue for st6/18 anyone?
st6/18 - st + actor FLynn
of Robin Hood fame
(without any double letters)
Yey!! ty:)
141 words - all time Personal best!!!! So proud of myself:)
Yay for daykat! Huzzah!
*bows*
well, I'd better get back to work. It's so busy - yet another reason to hate the world cup. bye!
Goodbye, NB.
...aaaand, it's time for me to get going, too. Goodbye, daykat, and anyone else who's left!
and given that its 12.09 am my time I'm off to bed
bye all

Only one of those 4's will get you envigilating the PB, Bugs :^)
you mean I entered a real word? sorry but now I have to look for it!
lol no, but an anagram would be valid
for dr god's suggestion, i think we should hace a last word entered box.
My bad Bugs. I always try that or4 and keep thinking it will be good.
I have several of those words, wht. Cannot NOT enter them. Like ronin. And hara.
Hello everybody :)
hiya Soodle :)
hello soodle
Hi Soodle
hi, all :) been given my other break early - too early - might be on my feet until midnight after this ;)
hiya Nancy Boy *huggggs*
Hey Nance!
Sprite!! How are you? :)
hiya, Soodle! Your icon makes me laugh every time I see it
heya NB!!!
That dog has drunk every drop of drink in the house. He is like Father Jack - roaring DHRINK!!
brb sorry coffee ready
afternoon Jac!
LOL Soodle! Does he follow it FECK! ARSE! GIRRRRLS! ?
am good, just tired. One more crazy day and I can piece myself back together :) How about you, hun?
Absolutely Nance! Here on Craggy Island, theres always somebody roaring and shouting....
Oh, not too bad, thank you :) just frantically consuming energy drinks - I'm here until 4am today! Exhausted at the very thought. Good to hear your life will calm down, though!
that is a long day of work, Nancy Boy?
Nancy, have you ever considered putting yourself up for adoption? I know of at least 20 Babblers who would fight for the right to adopt you!
Soodle...I'm attracting strange looks with my giggling! It is, Sprite; it's two shifts back to back, because...I need to feed my shopping addiction.
oh they'd change their minds Soodle, I tend to hog the shower in the morning ;)
we will need to house you in the PB, Nancy Boy. You can have your pick from the cupboards and fridge and cabana boys (hush Judy), and you will have loads of people loving you in Babble land :)
i just dropped my 12 cup cafetiere
it made an awful mess but at least it's intact
it made an awful mess but at least it's intact
oh jacq :( That s*cks.
wow, glad it did not break, I thought it had
i have steeled for instant now lol
so did i, it's brand new too
settled maybe i have had too much coffee lol
Jac, i f there was whiskey in it, I could loan you my dog to lick it up. He is partial to a drop of the hard stuff. Check out my Profile pic....
lol if there was whisky in it i would still be there licking it up myself lol
I ahve the feeling all the dog does is imitating you, Soodle :D
LOL Sprite!
There shall be no unauthorized use of cabana boys!
hehehe I knew that would bring you out of hiding :)
lol cute pic!!! and nice quotes too
but i have a question
what happens if life gets you down and all you have are thongs?
Actually, I was at lunch. But, I always have to read back in the chat to see what's going on.
glad to see you, Judi
hello judi
I might have to employ the cabana boys as bodyguards at this rate. There has been very much unauthorised stuffing of phone numbers where I do not appreciate it, such as in my back pockets or down the front of my shirt. Shield me, boys ;)
good question, jacq.
Hello, who is misusing the Cabana boys?
it helps that you're cute NB
you can always hide behind my broad shoulders, Nancy Boy
Is that rhetorical, Jacq, or do you have the answer?
hiya red :)
News must be out that you're on the market again, NB. Psst: pick a rich one.
i have no answer but cheesewire springs to mind, it would be a distraction i suppose
What is cheesewire?
LOL! Sprite and Judi...I laughed so hard. At this rate I'm going to pick the least handsy. *sigh* better get back out there, though. Take care, ladies!
Jacq, that reminds me of another old chestnut...What happens when the bottom falls out of your world?
chocolat is the answer. And in case of absolute bottom of pit feelings, strawberries to go with it.
narrow wire used to cut cheese like a garrotte
bye NB
Answer:- Take Milk of Magnesia, and the world will fall out of your bottom.
oh yes, indeed. I have one of those.
bye Nancy Boy *hugs* Take care of yourself, hun.
lolllll Soodle!
Cheesewire sounds dangerous - especially if one were to keep it in a front pocket.
LOLOLOLOLOLOL soodle
i acn think of one or two males who should do that but in the front of their underwear instead
*snip*
lol
Oh dear. *hurridly shuttles cabana boys to secret, cheesewire-free hiding spot*
LOL
I'm sure our Cabana boys had cheesewire training...
lol

AR 7/28, ex 8/75, ge 7/40, sa 8/55, sa 7/40. Thats as far as I have got, Ruby.

hahah, gail.
Yay Rubes!! We will have a party
sounds good to me!
who is bringing the hors d'oeuvres?
If you let me and Ruby out of the pb, I can clue it, Jacq....
maybe crossy can bring bacon-wrapped waterchestnuts
sa8/55 part of a group of 4 words all shorter in different ways, a colourless or faintly yellow liquid derived from sassafras oil
you can come out soodle
Sa8/55 - first three letter of opposite of dangerous, and the part played by actors....
that is a very hard hint, jacq, but |;ve put the monkeys to work
soodles is easier and better
Howzabout a clue for the ex8?
Soodle is a simple soul :)
soodle clued it earlier judi
got it, ty soodle and jacq

it's disturbing really
DH is 84 and his are too! Mine are more busy making jam
awwwwww
Just not getting the ex8 clue. *sigh*
it was great fun while it lasted but I'm finished with all that
You know, they say that thats the last bit of a man to give up the ghost....
has to do with understanding the bible, judi
I wish somebody had told me that before!
Ex + hens lay **gs, and Gen**** is the first book of the bible.
Well, I know the Bible exists, but that doesn't mean I understand it.
we[''re a very holy group!
I am waiting for a lightning bolt to strike me dead, mentioning men's moving parts, and the bible within minutes of each other....
I tried dating through a senior site recently, and those guys were all sex-starved!
TY, Soodle. Clues for dummies. Just my speed.
aaarghh, gail!
It was really, really scary.
uh oh, I guess I'm vulnerable too! bad ruby
and the idea is disgusting....
judi, is that a crab or a very big spider?
Not to worry Rubes. We will burn on the hobs of hell together!!
hahah
Ruby - that was a crab - yesterday's theme. I have changed it for today though. Refresh.
and ruby just continues making jelly.....
we have beautiful spiders here and each year, if they get big enough, I feed them flies. Another sick hobby
lol
one yeaqr, one was so big that I gave her a name, caliope, to rhyme with her latin name, Argiope!
*shudder*
the things you learn about people lol
Ruby!!!1 Kelley's Jellies!! Sure to be a best seller!
uh oh
anything with 8 legs no matter what size in my home vanishes quickly
FM is going to ghost write my autobiography
I really like spiders outdoors, in the house, they get squshed by a phone book!
You could open a deli, and call it Kelley's Jelly Deli.
same here
Kelley's jellies, I like the sound of that!
my husband hates it that I didn't change my name when we married
I don't mind spiders too much. But, they can feed their damn selves.
texas
oops
sorry
Rofl Judi.
Penalty Box, Jac.
it's a good thing to do with flies!
slopes off to the pb
there are still some martinis, jacq, not to worry
frey
See, now look what you made me do.
I am so tired of football; I just continue watching to spite my husband!
you just wanted a martini, gail
Gail. Tell the truth. You just want to join Jacq, Ruby and me here in the PB
Yep, I did!
what a party!
I have a tv in my office, so I am going to watch the rerun of the Red Sox game in a few minutes. A martini would go well with that.
oh, how I miss baseball! was a Mets fan
no baseball on French TV
That's horrible. What is summer without baseball?
making jelly, what else?
Jelly is good.
for nbt in this hopeless mess, clues for bottom o and middle y, pls pls
I make the bread to put the jelly on.
Not just any jelly. Nellie Kelley's Jelly, for the deli.
phew fireworks
ok, I think we're about to organize a party in eastern France. Just need to get rid of DH!!!

Aw Ruby. Think if the night in Florida....that should raise a little grin....
true
he was really annoyed, you might say!
He didn't quite get what he was expecting!! Rofl.
I hope this is all girls!
I think we're safe, Ruby
the boys would hate me!
<<< is a girl
tg!
i checked to make sure i had boobies and bits first, just in case
All present and correct, Jacq?
as I get older, I'm less sure.....
all present and correct boobies bigger than they should be though
DH has bad eyes, thinks I'm still cute! lucky me
hello girls ;)
i'm hoping when i get measured for my implants that they are back to a c cup
:(((
heya jilli
I don't think you would ever hear a man uttering those words, Jacq.
LOL
hello jilli, we're having an all-girls conversation
they want their implants XL!
I have a boob and half (cancer years ago) and would like to get the big one reduced.
LOL i wonder if they would feel the same way with beach balls in front of their chests
Firetwerps!
Yay Judi!!
yay judi!
i have a boob and three quarters jilli, am having a double mastectomy later this year, if my surgoen ever gets back to work it may be sooner
lol, jac. I don't hink men care where they are - just so long as they can play with them!
there was a jerk of a sports writer years ago who said women could play golf as well as men because their boobs get in the way.
Well done, you, Jilli, for beating that hideous disease.
jilli, I made the mistake of having a big-deal reconstruction which left me with all sorts of problems but I look good in clothes hahah
oh jacq -- was there a recurrence?
Oh my! Are the three of you survivors of breast cancer?
oh jacq! I'm an almost-20-year survivor of stage 2A! Had a clot of surgery and chemo but lived to tell about it!
looks like!
i have benign tumours in each boob and they are growing rapidly and the surgeon is a little concerned but it's not dire
no, sorry, mine were all benign, have had 5 removed so far
gracious, jacq!
thye look a little like patchwork quilts right now lol
wow! I had two tiny but malignant ones, one the size of a peppercorn, the other the size of a pea, and mammograms didn't show them.
wow, ruby -- glad you got through all that!
Off to do some real (boring) work. Later, gators!
you were lucky ruby, to have found them i mean
bye smart judi!
How did they find them, then, ruby?
bye judi
I have said it before, and I will say it again. There are marvelous people on Babble. Bye Judi
I found them and my doctor said"Oh they're nothing!" And I waited two years before I had them removed.
Bye Judi!
I found them while they were saying there weren't any
oh wow, even luckier ruby, you are a miracle woman
that's what my dogs think!
I never would have found mine -- we can have annual free screening mammograms here and that's how minw was found.
I am very skinny and they were down against my ribs
hugs to everyone, i have to go, ty for the inspiration, here was me worried about pain, and that is nothing at the end of the day
lucky you, ruby, if they were so tiny and yet 2A!
Bye jacq!
pain is something to make go away! No point in enduring it if there's a choice!!!
they took out 32 lymph nodes and 2 were affected,. Yes, I am very very lucky!
bye jacq!!~!
I had 3 out of 18 affected.
did you have chemo, jilli?
strangely, the sentinel node was free!
I didn't know about sentinel nodes then
no -- luckily the oncologist said it would only add a 2% advantage
I had CAF chemo plus atavan, was never sick, and went to work the day after!
that was 10 years ago, and annual diagnostic mammograms show nothing.
we lived for percentages, eh?
I've stopped getting checkups; it will be 20 years in November.
I just do self-exams
no confidence in doctors
wow, ruby! My sis-in-law had it just after mine but was not estrogen-dependent so had chemo and was sick as a dog, lost hair, the whole ball of wax. I just went onto Tamoxifen and now am on Letrozole (Femara)
I have a lot of confidence in good doctors.
I lost all (ALL) my hair and went on Tamoxifen for 2 1/2 years after, but because of the Atavan, added by the Boston MD who designed my protocol, was never sick. Just couldn't drink gin for a while
I'm too pudgy for welf-exams
*self
I think welf implies good health; I like that portmanteau word!
it is kinda cute :)
how are you doing with this grid? I have 41 left and lunchtime approaches -- then some errands. I'm fighting off a cold too.
have 101 words and am running out of time. As long as I have half, I'm satisfied. Low expectations, I guess
I am humbled in the presence of the pair of you. You both rock!!
thank you soodle!
You make a choice to live or die and then really work hard at it!
well, thanks, soodle -- it's ruby who deserves the accolades for coping with chemo and finding it herself!
that's why my DH annoys me so much. He complains about everything
I know all of that, but you are both might strong ladies!
*blushing*
Needs must, as they say.
exactly!!! Amen, ladies
ach -- why do I always miss the Greek temple?
Theres a Greek Temple???
greek temple? I guess I've missed it
na4/4 -- n + 3 vowels
oh, actually, it was on the tip of my tongue hahah
Ah! I know the word, but had no idea what it meant!
never saw it before! Is it a babblet?
just click on the ? for the meaning ;)
sometimes it ends with an S
definitely a babblet
I know about the ? button, Jilli, but that particular word is also the Irish word for the number 9, and that suits me!
oh, interesting, soodle!
my bi-lingual friend!!!!
have to go now. Good night, dear friends!!
105 words!
Ha ha ha. Good night, dear Ruby. You always make me smile. {{{}}}
Night ruby -- see you in the morning probably!
I have to go too, and get lunch etc. It's been fun!
I love your blotto dog, soodle, and the wise words ;)
Why, thank you Jilli. You enjoy the rest of your day. {{{Jilli}}}
bye, and the same to you, although I guess it's night!
hi folks .. soodle, do you mind if i lift your profile list and post it to my facebook?
Welki - there is a small admin charge. My bank details are..... Ha ha. Spread the word!!!!!
check's in the mail :)
Now, where have I heard that one before :)
hehehe, i've modified the list to suit me (hope you don't mind ... no cocktail hour with the girls *yuck* and i have the perfect man :)
You have just personalised it Welki! Well done. Just got fireworks!!!! Sorry to leave you, but I am sure somebody will be along shortly. Hope your friends enjoy the personalised list. Bye Welki.

hey there knitter....
EB! how are ya
news from the front -- mom had another "episode" on wednesday, and had to take the rig to the ER. Five hours, no positive results, now she is here with me
I am thiiiiis close to running wild in the streets. I had NO IDEA how stressful this would be!
oh no, poor thing (both of you)
she is terrified to be alone, even for five minutes. We have had to scramble to find coverage the few hours I am at work. One day I had to hire primo's old girlfriend, the lovely nursing student....
i feel your pain - i get stressed just taking my mom out to dinner!
primo's new GF found out and dumped him, so now primo is not speaking to me. Secondo and Tertiare just left with Mr. Hate, and tomorrow is Tertiare's birthday party, which she decided would be a pool party at HIS house, so I will be here with the lovely grammy, alone
well, we do have a funeral to go to. FUN
new GF sounds immature and primo is better off without her
carole and matt are in the process of trying to quickly dump and run from their house to hers, which is proving almost impossible with two little boys under foot, so I have them now while they finish up a few things. To be honest, it's been great having them here. Mom is speaking and playing with them, and I am here. Trying not to go nuts and sucking down a Mike's lemonade with head-spinning speed
Hi All
the little monsters will be a good distraction for your mother.
howdy river
indeed! On the positive side, my hydrangea in my front yard bloomed today for the first time EVER. I was so excited! It was such a kiss from the universe!
hiya aknitter
Not having much fun here at the moment. I have been diagnosed as hyper (yes hyper) thyroid. I feel as though i am on my 200th cup of coffee, cant sleep, cant eat as the medication is making me nauseous. i am ready to explode. this had better go away quickly
sorry to hear that ak
sprong!
sorry to hear that ak - deep breath and put that energy into finishing the grid
this has left me with the attention span on a gnat!
you can play wordsplay - timed 3 minute games - perfect for extra energy
lol river i will have to check that out.

River - this is a terrible time for you. We are here for you if you want to talkm
River - this is a terrible time for you. We are here for you if you want to talkm
or, if you want to not talk and just babble, we'll do that too.
just got home from 6 hours at childrens hospital - trying to recoup but thanks all - pre-op today
oh, river, I am so sorry.....we will pray
Have you support there with you now River? Your are not alone, are you?
so very sorry river. everyone has you in their thoughts. Hold out for hope.
kids are here - husband is outside where he belongs
in his doghouse?
wish I could make it permanent - hey NB like your new photo
thanks, River :) it was taken the morning after my housewarming - probably why I look like I was trying not to remember anything ;)
that is a shame though, River - he should be supporting you, not dealing with it separately :(
nancy, is that a tattoo on your chest?
he hasnt been here for me for months so why now - I know he is going through is own torture over it but I cant drag myself out there quite yet
my chest? it's not revealed, is it?!
is it a lovely curtain over your chest?
no tattoos on my chest...just a T-shirt and a cushion ;)
I understand, river, really I do...
River, this sounds quite mad, i know. but i have a cell phone that costs me nothing. if you feel like a chat, or an off-load, I have two very good ears, and despite being Irish, I am actually quite a good listener. If you thought I could be of any help to you at all, I would be happy to call you.
that is so thoughtful of you - thanks but I am good - in fact my best friend who has listened to me over the years is also irish so I know irishwomen can be very good listeners and friends. I so appreciate my babble friends...
how sweet of you, Soodle - it is getting late here, as well :) I'd better go get back to work though. Just three more hours. (((River))) all the best to you and yours
{{{{RIVER}}}}}. I genuinely hope that your boy gets better. Thinking of you.
bye Nancy - dont work to hard -keep those wandering hands off of you ....lol ((NB))
LOL River. I rarely work too hard, and as for the wandering hands...I'm a man, not a magician ;) but, all my fingers are crossed for your son - you don't deserve to have to worry :( take care xx
thanks soodle - its so hard looking at him and he is so vital, athletic to think he wont be able to do anything or not survive the procedure but he must have it or not survive at all - we hope for the best - find and correct it and he goes on without any further complications.
all parent worry - every day of their life
Whats his first name, and how old is he, River?
Keith is 13 (and a half + 5 days according to him)
LOL. That 'half' is mighty important when you are 13!!
and dont forget those 5 days - he told the Doc when asked
its nice to have something to chuckle over
River, it is past 1am here, and I am going to bed. I wlll pray very very hard for Keith. My email is medickinson@eircom.net. Please please, let me know how Keith is doing, if I don't happen to sychronise with you on Babble, ok?
Thank you Soodle - sweet dreams
Good night Babblers, and goodnight River. {{{{RIVER}}}}
(((Soodle)))
Hi Babblers!
Hi Jilly
hmmm, not liking this grid!

Sure, why not add to your win total ...

bye!
Hi Everybody.
hey nef
Hey Nef, haven't been on with you for awhile. Nice to see you
hi LA. We just had a big storm blow through here; parts of Minneapolis and St. Paul are under water (flash floods) but the tornado warning is over!
yikes. we had quite a nasty storm yesterday and some tornado conditions but no touchdowns i don't think
hi Jilly. I've just been busy with work and hauling DH to doctor appts. When I finally get here it's late evenings and I end up falling asleep at the keyboard
lol, well, I am taking a break from nursing to attend a training for youth ministry.
LA, they just announced about a Volvo floating down Lyndale Ave in south MPLS. There have been numerous torados spotted around the Cities but haven't heard of damage this week (bad storms last week here and 29 tornados sited across the state; 3 people died)
will be on and off tonight, been a long time since fw...i've been going to bed early and the motel wi-fi is slowwww at times
oh my goodness. only time i've been to minn/st. paul was shortly after the bridge collapse. you guys have had enough trouble up there
That sounds like fun, Jilly. I did that at one point too when my daughter was a teen; we'd take them on retreats and tell them "boys are blue, girls are pink; we don't want any purple!" It helped that I worked nights back then; I could stay awake and keep them honest! ;-)
what were you doing here then, LA?
have a friend who was getting married there, her family is from minn
ok
did some touristy things, the sculpture garden, zoo etc.
lol nef, gotta remember THAT one. I had left my volunteer role when my kids graduated. then the ministry sorta fell apart and I came back in to rebuild it, but this time I do get a stipend.
how big is your group, Jilly?
Coming from the Chicago area, what did you think of the Twin Cities, Leslie?
and which zoo did you go to? We have the Como Zoo and the MN zoo here (Como is older, small and free; it's my favorite)
er the mn zoo i think. i am pretty sure we paid. they had a very cute prairie dog exhibit
it is a nice area
that's what I still call the "new" zoo (the MN zoo). My dtr was laughing at me saying that the other day. It's been around for probably 25+ years now
i can't remember the name of the place where the wedding was - it was a scottish bar in downtown st. paul i believe. they had lawn bowling. :)
was it Brit's Pub? They have lawn bowling on the roof; but that's in MPLS
that must have been it, it was on the roof. really nice place!
Hi Everyone!
Does anyone have the Si5 & Si6?
not yet, Minski (but I'll start looking!)
got them
got them too just now!
si5&6 = when one side of a war surrounds a city of hte other side and bombards them until they surrender.
and plural
I was using the wrong si combo
(or headed the wrong way is more correct)
can you please explain how the scoring works
first number = number of letters in the word, second number = total points
so, ar 4/7 starts with ar, has four letters and is worth 7 points
but is a 5 letter word doubled, 6 tripled?
phew! S & T were tough. Moving on up.
oh yes, 5 doubled, 6 tripled, 7 quadrupled etc.
thanks
yw
welcome lulu. the 2 best ways to figure out this game are to read the help info (right above the chatlog here); and also scroll down to the bottom of the page and on the left is a section called Friends of Babble. AngelSong's Babble Page is how I learned how to play
oops. thought I was done with the Ss but missed most of the Sa words. didn't see the 3rd s.
OK. This time I'm really done with the S words.
:) good-o min
WTG, Min. There
certainly enough of them!
store
OOOPS! Off to the PB for me (any choclit there tonight?
sure, there's some wine too
Eh. I don't do alcohol very well. I'll leave the wine for someone else
sparkling grape juice? :)
that sounds better! Or V-8 juice!
hey, lulu; did you figure out how to play and what the count is?

DH isn't doing as well as we hoed. We aren't coming to MT now. :-( We are both totally bummed. (He fell again today and this time he wasn't streong enough to get on his hands and knees)
*tosses bag of belgium chocolates out to everyont*
that sucks, sorry nef
I got them first!
oh no, Nef. I'm sorry to hear that he's fallen again. Will he have to go back to hospital?
You can keep them Nef. I'm just tired from a day spent chasing 2 kids.
I'm sorry about your DH. MS is a miserable disease.
one can never be too tired to each chocolates! Poor Minski!
No, he didn't break anything; and he fell between therapist visits. He's been doing very well; and was starting to deny that he isn't as weak as he is. I think it kind of shook him up; but otherwise he's okay
*each= eats*
MINSKI! You MUST be sick!
whew, glad nothing was broken but his pride.
brb
No. I'm never too tired for chocolate, but Nef needs them more than I do. Just toss one or two over here Nef. then you can keep the rest.
it's a big bag, enough to share with everyone
back
nef, i did not know it was ms. i have a friend in the hospital now who they think has it, at 28
I'll share. I was just being greedy. Now that I've had a couple, that's enough for me for tonight!
Ah, LA. DH has had it for 24 years; diagnosed at age 39 and did very well until the end of April. He's never been hospitalized with it though
well they are running tests but have been for a few days now. not sure if ms yet, but probably so.
He'd only used a cane up til April. I'd bought him a walker about 5 years ago for a relapse but he'd never used it til now. Now he's in a wheel chair
evening all

Well done LA.
YAY, LA! WTG!!!!
yay, leslieann!
When Babble's grid seems hard to do,
check the grid; it's not just you!
When Babblets abound too much,
use the chog a a crutch.
when in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout
If clues don't help, do not yelp
you put your left foot in, and you shake it all about
Open a bottle; it helps a lottle!
LOL
ro6, 7, and 8 a set?
Yes - small and round.
A bit like me!
sort of - ro 6 = fat, ro 7/8 = an architectural ceiling
oi. you'd think i could have found that 7; it's one of the most popular buildings on campus!
Ah, but, Jes, have you still not realised that the most obvious words hide in Babble grids?
heh. i'm out of practice, jac--haven't finished a grid in ages.
I finish the grid every day, unless I'm away on holiday without internet access, so can only do it on paper. The impetus to finish isn't there without the chog though.
I think my family quite like that!
Though, I do have to say, my other half thought I hadn't been playing Babble for months, since he'd not seen it on the PC when he'd got home from work. That's 'cos I finished with my 2 morning buckets of tea.
The more you play this game, the easier it gets.
heh. i haven't had time to play at work, which is where i usually do it. tonight i'm playing from home
Well, I'm lucky enough to work from home at present.
ah, that would make it easier :)
Yes, it does.
I've been on Word Tornado on Facebook earlier, still trying to recruit new Babble players. Most prefer the fast game you 'win' with no chat. Ce'st la vie!
Personally, I don't think there's anything to beat Babble. If you have any quibbles or niggles, contact Dr_God, who wants to know how to improve things right now.
nope. other than the dictionary not having words that are words...
does he want to know about those?
Jes - you should have had an e mail from him?
LOL! Jes, I don't think Dr_God can fix that dictionary other than to change to another one)
probably. i think i skimmed and din't think of anything to say, so i didn't reply
I haven't replied yet, but would say update the dictionary used, include an edit and a delete button for chog.
Jac, are you saying that Dr_God sent out emails recently?
Some people want an 'ignore' button' but I don't think that chog is set up for that.
Nef - yes.
(I may have to figure out my passwrod for my old email addy then
here's a copy. Hope Dr_G doesn't mind me replicating it here... Fellow Pro Babbler- I realized this morning that I've been neglecting Babble lately, and I'm thinking it's time I gussied the site up a bit. So I'm asking for your feedback. I welcome any and all feedback. Let your brain juices flow! A few sample questions/topics: What do you like the most about Babble? What do you dislike the most about Babble? What feature(s) would you like to see added to Babble? How could the Babble community be strengthened? Your feedback can be nit-picky or can include pie-in-the-sky dreams. It's all good to me. Thanks and Happy Babbling! - Dr_God
thanks, Jac. It looks like I'll have to figure out that email password then. I definitely want to respond
es5 please?
I didn't respond t that email, but it was nice of DR G. to think of us.I wonder when the changes will happen
es 5/10 is the Spring holiday without the first letter.

I was af 6/30 that I was not going to finish but I had nothing to fr4/7 about because grid was doable with a list and didn't drive me nu 4/5. Now I will do a nice ge7/40 by doing a st 5/14 of clues for you. I ar 5/10 this morning not feeling well. I had a ru5/16 because of allergies. But I sa4/5 to myself, "Do not da4/5 call in sick. I asked what happened & was told someone got shot. Unfortunately they did not fa 4/7 well and died. The criminal shot him & then he st5/10 from them. I was so st 4/5ed that it happened right across from the school's tu4/8.It turned out the guy worked at Staples.I go to the st5/10 all the time. He was young too. It to 4/4 my heart out to hear about someone so young being murdered. Now I'm about to lo 4/4 the computer to hubby. My husband go 4/6 on the computer every night to play Farmville. My eyes are so 4/4 from staring at computer anyway. So I am going to ra5/10 my ro6/24 body out of this seat and go ra4/5 the fridge. Then I'm off to watch a late nite go 4/8 movie starring Ra 5/16 spelling. Was probably the worst ro4/4 he ever had even though hasn't had too many ro 5/10. I hope you do not get lo 4/4 in my st 5/14 of clues and find lo 4/4 more words.I hope all go 4/6 well for the re4/4 of the night and those who are not finished yet get their fireworks! Goodnight!
