phew.. no more borat
m9, or anyone else, if you find sprite online or in the rankings, put her in your My Friends. She lists all the icon themes. I try to keep up but I don't list them -- maybe I should copy sprite's list for those who are not here when she is. Anyway, please put me in your My Friends and you will be able to see what the day's theme is.
Thanks, flosey -- yours too!
thanks jilli
hehe, m9 -- I'll be glad to see Borat gone!

thanks Samantha
Sure. I'm one word away from NBT and the frustration is spurring me on to new and greater heights.
Are you missing the Bronte governess?
Nope. It's the single E in the fourth column that's killing me, and the Bronte governess comes from the lower E i nthe fifth column
The Beatles' lovely meter maid is in the grid
You must have been submerged when I talked about the northeast hermit
the 4th column
is a bugger
sam, er 7
ah, ty doug
hmm. jilli, was that a commentary or a clue? Should I be looking for a synonym of "sodomite"?
and I see oreo is here again :-/
nonono, sam!
just a commentary!
northeast hermit?
Got it! Thanks, everyone, for all your help.
Indeed, there's a hermit living in the northeast part of the grid
now I'm baffled by that bottom A in the 4th column (very dense tonight)
In fact it's rather amusing that the hermit starts at a tile with only one word. She really is all alone!
AT 5, ends with a Latin plural, jill
well I've got both the one word tiles.
Douglas, you're right, that's amusing.
There are three one word tiles, m9, sorry
oh yes.. I have them all. only two in the northeast
ty sam -- nbt at last
I'm well over halfway, dead exhausted, and NBT--off to bed. Night all.
only 29 words
i have 98, 88 to go..
gotta go to bed... I'll list tomorrow.
night sam -- well done!
nite all..
*poof*
nbt, finally
night m9
g'night, m9
half way and falling asleep
I made it mnbt2! No, really, I mean it! I really did check all the tiles!
wtg flosey -- I'm nowhere near, and ditto!
and wtg dougjete
see how tired I am?
I do indeed, but you still need to pirouette yourself over to the PB! (I hear there's mi4 soup there)
ok, doug, and ty for the soup (slurp)
really falling asleep, goodnight all, be back tomorrow for last 74
night flosey, sleep tght!

Oh No! Not again. I'd better get out of here!
*having a hard time keeping eyes open...

It's a shame titty has a double t!
well.. they come in pairs.? no?
I can't take any more, ru! Lol!
jilli, you were falling asleep an hour ago! While I enjoy your company immensely, I implore you to get some sleep!
yes jilli before your cup runneth over
just have to get once through Lickety, doug!
almost there -- at the to words now...
I really want titrate to work
that would be nice, ru, yes, but...
I'm so there with you, ru
good morning everybody
You lot should all go to bed! As for me, must venture outside in the freezing cold to do some chores... sleep well, everyone.
Bye dofith
Hi, ruby
brrr, dofith!
'bye jellen - send me some sunshine so my washing will dry.
I'd love to, dofith!
hi ruby
ohantom: eateries
Yes, jilli - but better than heat, in my opinion. Anyway, must away..xx
hi jilli
hello douglas
I must try to settle down for the night...with my flea-bittn cats...sigh!
bye dofith!
*bitten
hello jellen, how are you and Time doing?
Tim*
me too.. conking out.. head hurts...nite all
night ruru -- feel better!
Tim's doing okay, given he stays on top of his pain meds...
so you have to be Nurse Ratchit (or are you too young to know the name?)
Oh dear -- Tim needs pain meds!
Will have to recheck the reference...One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest?
Yes, jilli...tumor in his neck is putting pressure on his spine, apparently...
Oh, Jellen, that's too bad! Has any treatment been decided on yet?
I feel like that all the time with DH; he keeps losing weight, out of vanity, I think. Weighs less now than he did when he got out of the army in '45!
men are very difficult to manage!! I keep saying "I'm not your mother, but...."
Not yet...we're being sent back to Springfield to the oncologist...
rube, better he lose weight than get grossly obese like so many guys
your situation must be terrible, jellen! I can really empathize....
When, Jellen?
Thursday
no, but he's been up and down many times, which is worse, and 145-50 was a great weight, not 134!
and he develops plaque in his arteries no matter what
Fingers and toes crossed that the pain can be relieved and the tumour killed!
I hope the tumor in his neck can be removed surgically...
oh my, ruby -- how tall is he?
about 5'9", definitely too thin!
Jellen, I had a cousin who has surgery done with a gamma knife -- not intrusive.
he loves when people compliment him on his weight!
Oh yes -- that's a bit on the skinny side for a man of that height.
happily, jellen, many of us on here are cancer survivors and we're all rooting for you and are here to support both of you!
ruby's right, jellen -- I'm one of them.
and crossy
Thanks to both of you...
and others unnamed...
Crossy's been great...
care is much better now than when I was young and it is not a taboo subject any more
the other night, not including crossy, I think there were 4 of us on at the same time!
I met someone the other day who was a melanoma survivor, hale and hearty.
That's good to know, jilli...
Ruby, that's so true, and when I was a kid people used to whisper about diabetes too. Not any more, thank goodness!
and breast cancer was a death sentence. Not any more!!!
(as usual, first 50 words are easy!)
I must go now and try to get some sleep...
Remember the jerks who divorced their wives because they could bear a woman who had had a mastectomy?
if the anxiety gets to be too much and you can't sleep, ask your (or Tim's) MD for a prescription for Xanax. It works for me and is very mild and has no side effects
*couldn't bear, I men
my husband married me AFTER I had had surgery!
If anything, I sleep too much, ruby! Just at the wrong hours...
good for him (and you!)
that's another way of handling anxiety....
ruby's advice sounds good, jellen, and might help you sleep at the right hours!
Very true, ruby...it drives Tim nuts...
How is he handling things?
I take mine at 11:30, fall asleep around 12 and sleep until 8AM. If I didn't get those 8 hrs, I'd be a wreck.
actually, I'm a wreck anyway, but not for lack of sleep lol lol
lol, ruby!
hi everyone
hi andree
We haven't really had the big picture discussions, jilli...when he's in pain, he just wants everything to be over...
Hi, Andree
hello andree, nice to see you!
riata
poor guy -- hope the pain meds work well.
whoops
sorry
is there coffee in the pb?
what pain meds are they giving him?
nm, ruby -- had it. And I must go to bed -- 73 left but very little time tomorrow.
Goodnight all.....*poof*
They upset his stomach, but they do relieve the pain..he just takes naproxen and vicodin now...
Hi ruby and all. How nice, just come on and have a word presented to me. ty ruby - haven't even looked at the grid yet except to see the number of words!
{{jilli}}
hello sally! the fish are jumpin' and the tomatoes are high!
I must poof, too...Hugs to all!
does he take them with meals or is he told not to
{{{jellen}}}}
Good morning/evening all. Hello to Andree (long time!) and bye to Jellen.
And does Mr Heron have a puzzled look on his face?
gm haz!
we satill have the Japanese bronze heron on the side of the pond and haven't seen Mr. Heron even once!
Hello!
And the waterlillies are coming up around the nets
and the fish have gotten over their fear and seem to have made babies already, there are tiny black and yellow ones again
Brilliant ruby - and hallo Haz
Hello, Sally - still warm with you?
i have sadly neglected babble, silly games on my i phone have me hooked, mostly solitaire
Oh Andree! How could you forsake us?
Much cooler so far today, but still early. Having a day off today since have been doing major physical things outside in all the heat.
Hi Andree - I can play Babble on my iPhone through Safari!
Enjoy the rest, Sally. Looks like you may be needed to counsel poor, foolish Andree. Show her the right use of an i-phone.
I garden until I can't see for the sweat pouring into my eyes
me too sally but solitaire is easier in minature
lol ruby, I have a sweat band otherwise I can't see through my glasses. I may look stupid but who would know?
i tried a friends new i pad , now thats the way to play babble, am wanting one
Made it to mnbt2, but got stuck trying to reach mnbt3. Good night all!
Yes I want one too. My son has one and I'm longing to visit to see it - oh, and my grandson of course!
I'm not usually attracted to technology, but the adverts for i-pads do make them look appealing.
that's a good idea, sally; I look stupid anyway lol
Goodnight, Douglas, sleep well.
good morning all. how many worsd today please
186, sandra
gn douglas
186
186 and good morning.
thanks rubyfoo
and also haz
It really does help ruby. I also wear it for major housework on a very hot day - stops the sweat dripping onto my clean floor!
You're welcome - have you just started or are you midway through?
it's funny because my husband barely sweats; he looks at me like I'm strange!
I've never seen anybody sweat like Andy Roddick, the tennis player. His baseball cap is soaked, sweat drips off the front, and yet still he runs on.
Perhaps you expend more energy.
I am almost always hot
i am not either haz and got the i phone on a whim but love it and as i was going to get a new laptop which i no longer need as i have moved the office home i think i will spend the money i intended for that on an i pad
my dad was the same way
Do let us know if and when you get the i-pad so that we can share in the experience. They look so attractive but I can't imagine that I would ever be able to use it to its full potential.
I had better get dressed now, see you later -- 71 words!
i don't sweat either, its odd, i walk sometimes with a friend and the sweat drips off her
I already have two iMacs, husband and I both have iPhones, so I can feel this step is not too far!
See you later,ruby.
tore
whoops again! leaving. But it's much more ladylike not sweating; you are lucky andree
Sally, you're much more into technology than I'd have imagined!
sally is brilliant!
Really? I'm very deeply into technology. Absolutely love gadgets and finding out how things work. Son is the same.
Maybe it's because I associate you with the garden.
And I associate you with cooking delicious meals every day!
I have part ownership of a mac, daughters boyfriend gave it to our house at christmas, never used it but it would not take much for daughter to show me, without her i would not even contemplate an i phone
I don't know about every day! I make a special effort on Sundays, that's for sure.
Once you get used to a Mac, you would never go back to a PC I think.
I suppose we all build up mental images of what babblers busy themselves doing when they're not sitting at the computer.
Yes that's true. For all you know I might be a quantum physicist, or even someone really famous incognito (!!)
or a serial killer
I suppose what we all have in common is the love of words.
thats the thing about the internet, who knows
lol Andree. You guessed. I suppose even serial killers might like to play Babble.
I'm now debating what methods a quantum physicist might use to be a serial killer.
hopefully from their cells
Very clever ones Haz.
Are they allowed internet access in their cells I wonder?
I know. But maybe working out all those physics problems might leave them with not enough time to carry out their schemes.
I don't know about the internet access in prison. I imagine they wouldn't have access in their cells, but under supervision, probably.
I was never very good at physics at school, so I am floundering here.
I wasn't even good enough to take physics.
Visiting a prison (or being a resident!) is one of those life experiences that has passed me by.
That's all right then Haz, we can bluff each other.
they seem to be allowed most home comforts, its weird
Any prisoners out there? What's it really like?
lol haz
Do you think they would admit to it, Ambassador?
We'll know if 'Fingers Dave' or 'Al Capone' responds.
lol Haz
Looks like we're prisoner free, or else they're sewing mailbags.
perhaps it's ruby. That's why she has to leave at regular intervals. Not really mixing aperitifs at all.
Perhaps she's the warder and her husband's the prisoner. Gulp.
Thought it was the other way round :-) Unless she's really Rosa Klebb in disguise.
Ruby and Max are the prison dogs, patrolling the property.
perhaps i haven't been around for few weeks because i have been in solitary
That's true, Andree. Maybe you've been spending your time throwing a ball against the wall like in 'The Great Escape'
lol Haz. And the Heron is the code name for either a master criminal or the governor of the prison.
and the pond is really a moat
I like the idea of The Heron being the governor, striking fear and loathing in the heart of prisoner and warder alike.
With a drawbridge?
We must make sure ruby reads back in the chog, unless she is really secretly monitoring us.
I think she usually does read back.
Only joking ruby, honest! Exit screaming to sound of chains dragging on the dungeon floor.
They made me do it, ruby! They trapped me! I AM INNOCENT!
Of course, Andree has nothing to fear since she may already be in prison.
Must get coffee. There will now be a small intermission.
(It's roll-call, I can see through things)
and everyone here claims they are innocent haz so that won't save you
I know. Maybe ruby is a forgiving woman.
Must take a break as well, back shortly. Don't go anywhere, Andree. Oh, that's right, you can't...
(taking ten..)
Back.
later haz
hi again sally
Really enjoying today's grid. Yesterday's was wonderful, though had so many visitors and things happening had no time to chat.
i am finding it slow but nice
back later, dinnertime
bye for now Andree
hello
hi herin
How you
I'm good. Having a quiet day today.
I just dissected 2kilo ofchicken.
*checks chicken enclosure anxiously*
No it was from the butchers your chicks are fine
:-) What are you cooking?
I went to the butchers and the 2k bird was $15 but because the back (not the meaty bit) was broken
Good bargain then?
That's a big bird.
It was $6 so I tossed the broken bit in the stock pot, the two legs into the oven and then the breast is tidied up for tommorrow
I grabbed a very limp and dead like leek from the fridge and the rosemary from the yard and am making a stock
Sounds good herin.
Have to be creative at this time of week
We're eating out in the pub tonight. Usually do on Wednesdays.
Nice himself is held back at work :(
Have to go and do some banking online. Will be back later.
enjoiy
ta
Back later
hello again! is anybody there? So, you are all talking about me! too funny. That's because I'm married to Bluebeard -- wife #4! Definitely a moat around my "castle"
hi ruby, I'm back. Are you still there?
morning all
Hi Fish
Hi everyone
morning PP
an
morning all - not usually here this time of day -due to work but man came and fixed cooker and washing machine - oh joy - i can do even more housework now
No excuses now, then.
unfortunately not - son find something else though
Hello again. My ten minutes away stretched somewhat.
hi haz
Hi Haz. Sorry, was deep in the T words
Hello! I'm hoping fresh eyes will accomplish much.
You would think so :-( Still have 9 to find.
It's amazing what you miss, isn't it?
Yes! She says with feeling, just having slapped herself with a fish.
Kazz on my phone, not easy but possible!
Playing on your iPhone? Have done that.
oooh might have a go - i thought it might be tricky getting things in the right boxes
No, quite easy as soon as you touch Add Word the keyboard comes up. Hammers the battery, though.
Back to work will be back @ lunchtime
Bye, Katie.
bye Katie
re7/48?
Kind of engine, kje
Ends in the type of engine that Elton's Benny might have used. That dates me, doesn't it?
thanks, FW!
must run... want to see if I can catch a few more z's before alarm goes off
Sleep well!
good morning babblers and thanks for those clues on the re7!
Bye for now. FW for me too. Any other clues needed before I vanish?
Good morning, Nono, nice to see you.
Congratulations, Sally and kje. it took me a minute to work out FW. I'm losing it.
Thanks Haz, always good to see you too!
LoriP is around as well, but she's lying low. I think there's going to be a preemptive strike when FM appears.
yes I think I saw Lori lurking somewhere
She thinks she can hide from us,but her lurking skills have diminished.
hard to believe but your right Haz she has gotten rather lax with her skills
dont get the re 7 clue
I know.
re, first letters of a word of apology (two) then a type of engine much used in planes.
ta haz
You're welcome.
anyone know what it means
No dictionary results from dictionary.com
its in reference to some sort of engine i think
Have to nip out to do a quick message. Bye!
bye Haz
byr haz
good morning everyone, I have sneaked in whilst at work lol :)
oh dear better sneak out again catch everyone later Happy Babbling:)
re7 IS a type of plane engine, specifically Elton John's Benny's or what Peter, Paul & Mary were leaving on.
(And one of my musical references is even older than Haz's! LOL)
good morning, how many words today?
morning 1961, there are 186 words today
186 and Good Morning
ty
{{River}} good morning
you're welcome 1961
Good Morning ((Mom))
what's with the clue for re 7. your clue seems to be a five letter clue so i must be missing something with my sleepy mind & eyes.
I have been wanting to tell you how wonderful I think it is that you have still been smoke free with all you have had going on.
btw good morning all!
good morning Jmb, I was thinking the same thing
thanks Mom - I cant believe it either
Hi jmb
ditto what mom said...
Jmb, just scrolled back ..... re + do, re, me, fa, ** la, ti, do + the type of plane
I have had many conversations with myself - had to yell at myself even...lol
thanks Mom - got it now

you're welcome jmb
hello everyone
Hi daykat
listening to you chat, you seem to have very nice neighbors where you live River
Hi daykat
river... you rock. your name change reflects your inner strength
hi river - did i see you are an ex-smoker? Well done!!!
I have great neighbors and friends - I am very lucky

you are truly blessed
yes 10 weeks today
most impressed river - I cant sseem to give it up for longer than an hour!
I didnt think I could either - if I can, anyone can
good on you! How did you approach it - ?
ta
Hi tceicher
I guess it was just time but the cost is what really made me think about it. Thowing away $50 a week when I am trying to figure out how to pay for daughters college next year - just didnt make sense. Talked to my Doc during yearly physical. She gave me prescription for Chantix - friends used it and it worked real good for them. I dont think it worked well for me but I had so much support from friends and babbler - thats what did it
YAY faor Riverdance. I am so very proud of you!
hello all
great, Proud of your efforts and your commitment:)
Hi Peri
help with E under the M pls and i next to it for nbt
found the i :)
thank you Peri - see daycat - its these friends that helped me the most

Oy! 36 R words, 59 T words *sigh*
hello everyone!
hi there Annie
sorry Peri I don't have it either
thanks and good morning vlcl
Hi Annie
{{{Annie}}} good morning
hi Annie, Vici, peri
Hi (((River and Mom)))
hi vlcl
and hi to peri, didnt see you down there
hi mom
hi daykat, vici
Hello peri and everyone. The e you are looking for is er7, ending in a little unwanted creature/insect.
morning annie
hi all, feel like wasting 20 minutes :)
Hi Hazel
hey NB:)
oops time to get ready for work.
Hi NB
ty Haz will look
hey NB
Hi Haz, Hi NB
Hello Annie, how are you?
Babble is never a waste, NB
Hi Haz
that was quick vlcl, have a good day
stimulates the mind NB
Haz, I am doing okay..how are you and Spangle? She is as pretty as ever.
Annie, have you noticed any improvement with the medication?
I'm fine, thanks, and Spangle is, as you say, as pretty as ever. I tried changing her for another icon but there was an outcry.
ok, not seeing the er7 but will keep looking
Annie, are yiou ok?
you, even
I try my best not to stimulate my mind. When I start thinking, it's dangerous for all concerned ;)
er + vowel + a bug that is assoicated with dust
Mom, Funny you should ask. My union will not pay for it until I have tried some cheaper ones. Of course, the one that is in dispute was helping. I am now on another one..hope it does the trick.
e plus a doing again prefix, finish off with the unwanted insect (think of dust and what it contains)
thank you Bubba and Haz
Oh geez, Annie, that is just awful
ty dear, Haz, was thinking of the picnic pest, found it
I got it - thanks all
Annie, I hope you get relief, reflux isn't pleasant.
You're welcome, peri and Mom.
me too ty
cat wants to eat, bbs
now Haz and bubba, you should know that babblers have no idea what "dust" is, we all are excellent housekeepers and have our homes in order before we play babble.
rofl
Everyone is welcome! (which is not what you'd put on an open Facebook invitation)
I know - dust was a theoretical image only.
au contraire, Haz; that is how the best parties start ;)
also a way for things to get out of hand :-)
NBT and SBT for me - yay
hooray River
Mom, but everyone has seen it somelse's house
**someone else's**
lol Bubba, yes, non-babblers of course
naturally
Ohhh, people exaggerate. The invites to my housewarming went everywhere; the only problem we had was that not everyone could fit into the flat ;)
:-)
HI
hi herin
Hi Herin
hey herin
HI. River how is your son?
HI Hi HI
{{Herin}} hello
he is good - just waiting for his surgery next week
HI MOOM
Good River
River, how long will Keith have to stay in the hospital?
that will depend on how the procedure goes - minumum 2 days in ICU or step down unit - thats the best case - if he needs a pacing wire or has some other complication - it could be several days or weeks. So we hope all goes well and he comes home Wed or Thurs
It will all depend on what they find when they get in there
He was diagnosed with Wolffe Parkinson White Syndrome - you can google it - the procedure is a radiofrequency ablation
*yawns* mornin babblers!
well with 110 words, I am going to make my breakfast - bbl - WAKE UP EVA and good morning
hi all. er 7 please.
er + vowel + bug that likes dust

yeah...but this is late for me.
I'm usually on about 45 minutes earlier than this.
then get some coffee and get babblin' girlfriend
<<<doesn't drink coffee
but I'll get babblin!
neither do I - tea is good
LOL, that's funny
what kind of tea?
I like Bigelows English Breakfast
or just plain old black pekoe tea
I like peppermint. I don't drink black or green tea
actually, my drink of choice is water.
I never did develop a taste for the mint or fruity flavors.
which I may have to go get and drink from the far side of the glass!
chamomile?
its Ok
can drink that one with milk and sugar:-)
how far are you into the grid?

oh my - 10 years difference
she's loading.. that's a big pic!
ahh.. look at those eyes... she's such a cutie!
smaa - you need to shrink your picture - it slows down the game
but she is beautiful
ok.. laundry has been buzzing awhile.. I better go get it..
For me or for all?
for all - at least that is what I have been told - the first photo I put on was huge as well
OK will reject her! She is called Rosie!
she is absolutely beautiful. There are on line sites that will tell you how to shrink the photo

fireworks, unaided
yaa for gremlinn!
kudos, gremlinn!!
ok, back to Wimbledon :-)
whooo hoooo gremlinn
Good Morning Crossy
lucky I knew the first re7 - would have been a headache to guess
I snatched that clue from someone else *smiling*
still, it comes up so rarely (may have been a year or more) that it took hours of fumbling around to spy it
first time I have seen it in my 4 short months here
yep, probably learned it on Word Racer or Wordsplay long ago.
never did notice it on wordsplay - different words there
Wordsplay has a lot more, so it's unfortunate to learn "words" there that don't work anywhere else
os please?
like "omerta" which would have worked here
ro6, minus the first letter
if you need that ro6 first, it means "redder"
you have to be quite fast to outclue gremlinn here - so I will sit back and relax
TY GOT THEM.
good morning everyone
Good Morning flosey
good morning flosey
gm flosey
hi flosey
I won't be here long
is it today you leave grem?
ra 5 first one please?
I'm not going anywhere
but I need a break from the computer soon
ra + I ***d a break from the computer soon
that was handy
oh, sorry, must be confusing you (just barely got up)
ty
13 straight puzzles now with no chat, Lickety, or morewords
today was the longest it's taken
impressive gremlinn
that's great grem
I couldn't live without any of those
phantom for the day: retiarii
plural of retiarius, a Roman gladiator
you must have an amazing memory, grem, to remember such words
I didn't know the definition, but I just looked it up to see if was related to another word in the puzzle - sure enough, it is.
you must have a great love of words grem
yeah, I got obsessed with Boggle at some point
have never tried Boggle
well, that's the generic name for this sort of game
rather, the original game name
ah, thanks
so I just think of every game of this type as a "Boggle" game
crossy hates unsubscribing and blocking junk e-mails;(
it was Jillibus who introduced me to this game
the king has fallen -- Berdych defeats Federer
I started with "Word Racer" on Yahoo Games in 1998 and it's been pretty much constant since then (several times I took a few months in a row off, and once I quit for a year straight but fell back into it at some point).
ah crossy, we recently unsubscribed to an email "central" sort of thing, sent numerous emails every day -= sometimes 30 and more!
I heard about this from some folks on Wordsplay - could have been vlcl or ormal - cant remember - so thought I would check it out ......
my in-box generates 100 junk mails a week;((
glad you did River, nice knowing you
Riverdance: same here - heard it from someone named Mrs. Kaplan in the chat there
a week!! I was talking a day, it could have been possible to miss an important one because of it all
it's only been about 5 months for me here, so I'm also kind of new
i found babble on stumble upon
I'm glad I did too - same goes for me with all of you
ouch flosey!
wow crossie, glad you did
I still havent checked that out crossy - some day when I have time - cant give up babble or work (gotta eat)
stumbe upon is a a life draining, time sucking vampire
but i love it
it is VERY addictive :-)
and it hunts to you personal preference sheet
speaking of time-sucking sites, check out http://tvtropes.org if you haven't heard of it yet
me 4 5 needed, the second to last plz
it is indeed, Une, when you stop to think of the things that should be done - and are not getting done!
lol,we spend one day a week killing ourselves doing all the things that should of been done throughout the week
m + greek letter, mkg
ty
thanks Une
another phantom: trireme
and seriema
that has become a common babblet
me 6 21 plz?
like the me4, ends with past tense of eat
just monkeyed through the ra words
my last word was the second ra5/10
kind of odd that I'd miss it for so long
easy to miss these words that seldom, if ever, come up in conversation
ty.
re5 10 first one plesae.
re + jog
ty.
re 7 48?
any clues for the second te 6/18 would be greatly appreciated!
te 6/18 goes well with totter after it
seesaw is a te**** totter
te6/18 - one element of a seesaw.
gmta.. gm haz and river
re7/48 - re plus two letters from a distress signal, finish off with a type of powerful engine.
thanks each of you...so sure I had tried that...oh my!
good morning ruru
You're welcome. Hello again.
thank you for the re .. I haven't ever seen that one before
Nor had I, ruru.
Hello! One more then fireworks...I need clues for the tr 6/21 please
tr6/21 - extend the slight hair cut preceding, make it look like the person who does.
I'm missing 2 tr6 words before that one
any clues please?
I'm working on tr's now - have 5 left
One combines a three with the engine (tr6/33)
:( 43 left
Hope this granddaughter doesn't slow you all down!
thanks haz
tr6/18 before that starts with the three, ends with French female born, but letters mixed up.
thanks Haz...now mayb e I can get some work done!
You're welcome. Well done on fireworks, ddb!
congrats ddb
tyvm...couldn't have done it without the great clues!
thanks for both tr6 words Haz
You're welcome, flosey.
I don't see the french tr... or how to get to it..
If you get the first three letters, think of what women put for their maiden names. That gives you the letters, put the consonant between the two vowels and voila!
nor do i,if i were still fluent in french(instead of just ordering booze and hitting on french women) lol
tr + that commed**** was so funny
Or, using the same letters, as k*** as mustard. But mix them up.
my spelling sucks - take out an m
re 7 please, both are needed.
it is a chemical name
what are you looking for ruru and crossy
i'm totally confused with those tr clues
re7 - verb form of re6 to bow out of work
that tr clue is not correct. triane is not in dict.
change that a to a different vowel
It is correct. You're using a wrong vowel, mkg.
got it
use another vowel mkg - it is a chemical name
thank you both for that
haz that is last re word. need first re 7 48. sorry.
re7/36 - starts as with the other, ends in the last letters of the first two months of the year.
got tr word. ty.
re + do re me fa ** la + plane
ty. got it.
I clued the re7/48 before - re plus two letters of a distress signal, follow it with a powerful type of engine.
need third re 6 18 plese.
I didnt see it Haz - chat gets away from me sometimes
hey haz
re6/16 - rip up again, or bring moisture to the eye again.
Hello, TO!
clue for the lone e on the right please
Hi TO
ty!
er7 - ends in the sort of insect that kicks about in dust, apparently.
**FIREWORKS**
Are you enjoying your day off work, TO?
ty got it
yeah river!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
Well done, River.
WTG River
well am plagued with housework
whooo hoooo river!!
yaa for riverdance!!
thanks all
I need to finally get to work
Well, you know what they say. Housework is something you do that nobody notices unless you don't do it.
I like that Haz - so true
I'm being very slow today
It IS true.
that is the problem. only me here so can put it off
Change of grandchild! No 1 with us in Berlin
and please dont yell at yourself
need re 7 36.
But think how good you'll feel when you get something accomplished, TO.
your pictures are still huge smaa
re7/36 - first four letters as with the leaving job one, finish with last letters of first two months of the year.
ty jaz. great clue.
se 7 please.
Since Haz has you all well covered, I will get to work but will leave you with one clue At7/18 = at + ***t assured I will be back tomorrow + two vowels
omit
se7 - to arrange something in an order, it ends in past tense of consuming food.
for shame TO - just got here and off to the PB
by river. ty for good clues.
going now. too early for clues for me
later all
Okay, see you later, TO.
i like to try to find the words to the point i am stumped first
Haz - stillcan't get rhe engine at end of re7
No, I understand, it can be off-putting to have them served up on a plate when you're just starting.
It's the sort of engine used in lots of modern planes. The kind that Peter Paul and Mary left on.
Afternoon Haz!
it is a plane engine that makes it go fast.
Or that Elton John's Benny was associated with..
Hello FM!
My sort of clue Haz! Thanx
How many words today?
You're welcome.
186 words.
Hope you have had a good day?
Thanks.
Yes, apart from Federer being put out of Wimbledon. On the plus side, the Williams sisters are out of the doubles.
ty for all the clues. going to rest mushy brain for a while. hagd!
Oh no, really! dear me re Federer that is.
Hoorah for that> Roger should stop sharing a room with the twins!
who knocked out federer?
Thomas Berdych
Hi ruru! and all I haven't greeted.
big shocker, ruru
A Czech who apparently has been improving. He played really well.
boo hoo, I wanted Roger to win.
wow....
berdych was playing fantastic tennis and Rog was waaay off his game
Bye, lbd.
come on mix.. we all want rafa to win
:-D
Given the choice, I'd always want Federer to win. But the big names are tumbling, Roddick out yesterday.
Rafa and Soderling 1 all so far
rafa.. rafa..rafa! !!!!
I really really really dislike Soderling
felt sooo bad for Andy :-(
Andy doesn't work hard enough to win Wimbledon
then the Williams sisters lost their doubles match today -- another shocker
Yes, he seems not to be popular with the players, talked of as being aloof, but then, you can only go on what commentators tell you.
ruru, he should have gone further tho
Andy Roddick - not work hard enough? The man sweats enough for 6.
TRUE!
lol
And you can't say that he didn't give Federer a real match in last year's final.
indeed!!!
(president of the Stand Up For Andy Roddick Society)
ok, back to Wimbledon *poof*
I just created a new Facebook group for Babble. I'll be posting updates on the new site there, so join up! :)
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid= 106468556072681
Hello Dr_God.
What about us non-Facebook people? Any bulletins available for us?
I'm not on facebook.
but thanks anyway.
I am!
Dr god, how come some of us didn't get emails asking for suggestions?
I was just about to type the same thing Haz, and HI Dr_G
just curious
(All non-Facebook people join hands and sing)
HAve you got your up to date email addy in your account setting Une?
Not sure what we'll sing, and now wondering if an open invitation to sing when VI might be around is a good thing.
yep -- hasn't changed since i signed up
strange Une :(
Aloy didn't get one either.
We will be blaming you Haz if Vi does break out into *glorious* song.
I know, everybody get earplugs ready just in case.
*Considers being offended that I didn't get e-mail from Dr_G... decides not to bother.*
Facebook: Tried it once, didn't like it...
LOL haz. earplugs at the ready
*Considers being offended by Haz's constant taunts... decides not to bother.*
ah, er vi, how nice to see you.
((Vi))! talk about perfect timing!
Vicuna! Light of my life!
yep, i knew i wasn't the only one who wasn't contacted . . .
Crossy advised us to get out of Facebook! there had been problems
*Considers being offended at slight against non-Facebook people... decides not to bother.*
*is Vi on Facebook?*
Hey TO Erda I tried it too and didn't like it either.
Oh, let's just all be offended for five minutes to get it over with.
uh oh, so you're primed to create the song for non-facebook folks! LOL
No, Vi is not on Facebook. =D
Hello, all.
best to leave fb alone if you can't keepup withprivacy issues
So, what protest songs do we know? We shall not be moved....
Hi flosey, almost missed you ther.
My Face is like an Open Book, So you don't need a computer to take a look...
hello fm
hi FM and Vi, TO, all who came in within last few minutes
How about We Shall Overcome
Joe Hill is my favorite (but inappropriate in this case)
conciliatory Kumbayah?
*singing* "We shall not be overdrawn..."
hey, judi :-)
lol Judi
lol, Hey Jude!
that's the B of A protest song
Hi, kids. Here's a thought: Let's not sing!
hi judi
*humming quietly at my desk*
We need to get ourselves organised. Someone artistic, like dear VI, should organise the painting of the banners. That leaves those with tolerable singing voices to do the music. She'll not realise she's been sidelined.
Edit Piaf's "I don't regret anything," (much better in French) -- rien de rien
Oh yes! Lots of guttural rrrrrrrrrrrrr. BUt what are we not regrrrrrrrrrrreting?
non, rien de rien . . . non, je ne regrette rien . . .
*still not bothering to be offended... but puts a particularly grotesque charicature of Haz on the banners*
Me hungry. Want lunch.
I've forgotten already what we are protesting about - oh yes Vi's singing *giggle*
:-D
*FM's distorted protrait leers from the second banner*
We're protesting about some people not being asked for opinions and about Dr G onlytelling people on Facebook. We need a snappy slogan otherwise the banners will be a mess.
LOL, anyway it's it all Haz's fault she started it.
Poor Haz & FM. Displayed in effigy.
We don't regret NOT being on Facebook -- that's what...
It's Dr-G's fault! He'll be easy to in caricature with that beard of his.
Banners says, over pic of FM and Haz, "We've kept our faces off Facebook as a public service."
LOL!
That Vicuna. Not a note in her head but she keeps a sense of humour.
"Babble Discriminates Against Prima Donnas!"
been standin here waitin here mr. postman So-o-o patiently for just a card,or a letter
The sooner the better . . .
I don't know about that, Judi. I think we find a welcoming space for quite a few of them here! ;)
2 minutes to lunch. *hunkers into pounce out door mode*
check it and see one more time for me.
Babble discriminates against longstanding valuable and dearly beloved babblers by not sending them e-mails and we're not going to put up with it any more!
Yeah, that's snappy, Haz!
3....2.....1.....*POUNCE*
nearly time for slimming club - not doing very well at the mo - too hot and too much chocci cake
For those of you not on Facebook, I'm currently creating a Twitter account as well. I'm sure most non-Facebook folk are also not using Twitter, but Twitter's not as "icky" as Facebook, and it has a much lower "barrier of entry." http://twitter.com/BabbleOve rlord
Oops. https://twitter.com/BabbleOverlord
(Ducking to avoid Judi in full je4 mode)
:-D
TTFN Judi
*We are here... we are here*
dr god - how do i facebook you?
We thank you, Dr_G. At least it stops Vi from starting to sing. That was enough of a threat to put anyone into action.
If you're concerned about privacy on Facebook, just grow Dr G's ZZ Top beard and all will be concealed.
And if you didn't get an email from me, make sure your email address is up-to-date in the My Account area, that you have "Email Updates" checked, and that your spam filter didn't eat up my emails. :)
*starts twittering like a lark*
*smug* I got an e-mail.
i dont tweet but i am beginning to love facebook
So, is the protest called off?
<<------ haz is special
Kazzer Dr_G posted a link, you will have to scroll back to get it.
Oh, I probably don't have "updates" checked, I suppose. Good thing I didn't bother getting offended.
*smugger*
We'll have to work on your righteous indignation levels, VI.
Err.... actually, the send updates box *is* checked. Starts to seriously reconsider that whole offended thing!
... then again, why bother?
Oh go on, we can't have a protest otherwise. We've got the slogan ready and everything.
No football on TV today at all ... yay!
at 7 ? anyone?
Oh, okay. I'll try to work up some indignation. Here goes... GOSHAMICKLE DICKLE PICKLE BLANG BAM DOG MY CATS AND ROWRBAZZLE!!!!!
fraid not ruru, not babbling today.
at7 - at plus 'with reference to' shortened. first letters of the country visited by Anna, the Governess.
are you protesting FM?
at + a very pretty flower, f***** -
lol no , working.
must go watch more tennis. bbl.
It means the congenital lack of a cavity or opening.
Bye, mixi.
Bye, mixi.
ta haz didnt have that one - hubbys watching tennis - yuck
thank you
don't mention cavities. i've just spent an hour at the dentist for him to crown a tooth. after 10 injections he couldn't numb it and had to fill it instead. hello all
You're welcome, Kazzer.
So, guernsey. What's your view on cavities?
owie gg!
unspeakable
unprintable
10 injections, you will be dribbling for hours!
i would never have got that far - would have had it out and even if it was a front one
And you probably can't say anything anyway without dribbling.
he says the filling may not hold an i may have to go to the dental hospital and be put to sleep
<------ dribbles without injections...
just back from fb. from what i undersand, if you are friends with anyone who joins this group and they make their profiles more available than you do, you will be vulnerable to fb's whims. :(
GG - if you need to see a proper dentist, come to London and see my dad
Don't take a wrong turn and go to the vets instead. Putting you to sleep would have much more final consequences.
like my cat - i hope not
Poor guernsey gorl!
er, girl.
I hope you get it sorted out!
no good going for the list - if its up
thanks pinny. i think its my mouth not my dentist. i've had this problem with this particular tooth before. i'm more frightened of having a tooth out than i am of having it crowned. thanks Haz
Right, I'd better make a move towards the kitchen. Enjoy the grid those of you still playing and see you tomorrow!
eu
bye haz.
Bye Haz!
Goodbye, Haz!
mi 7?..not finding the biggies today
Bye! *gone* (must remember to take out the earplugs otherwise husband will think I'm ignoring him)
Had better go to as I still have work to finish off and then make a start on garden watering.
I guess I'd better get to the kitchen, too.
TTFN and Happy Babbling.

v p0\n atime
so sorry, crazed parrot on keyboard, while i answered phone
ahh, we are used to crazed felines...
cool! parrot! lol
my feline is too fat to be crazed, the only way she would interact with the keyboard is if i rubbed turkey or catnip on it : )
last te 7?
i have had to put a keyboard "skin" over the keys to keep the parrot from pulling them off and laughing like a loon while he runs away
We have 3 four-leggers of the feline variety, all boys and they drive me nuts!
Wow Beth, what kind of parrot?!
time to have an "english" snack ruru
he is a cape parrot NB
pb for me ...
ohh, beautiful! they are such characters...
he is a lot of fun, dirty, noisy, but fun. definitely not for the neat people
hello, not really here, doing laundry, just stopped by to say hi
hi peri
hi Peri ;) what a coincidence, I'm not really here either. I'm on break at work - six hours down, six hours to go..
:) NB
going to check on laundry bbl
12 hour shift!!!??? poor baby!
It's grim Beth, but I'm unfortunately skint ;) just had to pay rent for two flats - one of which I don't even live in - grrr...
not a good thing NB. can you sublet to someone?
thank you for the te 7
: )
Nah, I just had to leave one very quickly and move into the other, so it's just this month :) fingers crossed, anyway..
sending positive vibes your way. I hope this is just temporary for you
***snoggles NB half to death***
hi. how are things going for everyone today?
does anyone have the te 7./32?
nm
I have that.. I need another
I need another one..lesseee
done
whew
I love the idea of crazed pets on the keyboard!
maybe we should have a pet icon to the right of the flag?
not if it has a beak the size of mine ruby :)
I think many of us have pet icons anyway
It is pet icon day?
I do not have a giraffe as a pet.
hello red, why n0ot?
just need high ceilings!
have enough trouble with the puppydog.
giraffe poop could be a problem, that is a very long way to fall
splash!!!!
we are unfortunately obsessed with poop owning a flighted bird
TOo funny beth!!!!! Alot of people at my new job have birds....I am still not convinced...
for nbt, pls, bottom e and y
try jane Ey**...
ewww, sorry if anyone said anything, I lost connection. Turns out there's no app for that. *rolling eyes*
and looking back on the olden days of Yo**
ty for the y, td
red!
no worries, dear. i just thought i had snogged you FULLY to death this time...
ty for both of them
lol! not yet, Eva...but what a way to go!
i act6ually read an article about a woman who was erm.... intimate with her boyfriend. apparently her breasts were so large that she nearly suffocated him...
:/
eeeew
that will teach him!
My friend Tom (straight Tom) constantly claims that when his time comes, he wishes to die in a "naked lady avalanche"
eeew again!
i must say, that does NOT sound pleasant...heh
To me, it sounds both painful and kind of intimidating!
yay! half
congrats RUby, I am not even there, and I am going to have to nap again soon...
oh, a nap, sounds like heaven!
sleep? I've forgotten what that is ;)
sort of, I have to go to work at night, so a nap is needed....
i need to make sure i get my rest tonight -- dear fiance has talked me into taking off friday to head to the beach for an early 4th of july celebration. we will be back before most of the hordes head out there, but our friends band (our wedding band!) is playing out there tomorrow night and it will be a long day of work, a long evening of driving, and a long night of dancing and drinking!
sounds amazing, Eva! I forgot about 4th of July...we'll be celebrating here in London about that time too, starting on the 3rd....it's pride fortnight!
wow sounds like fun - hope you enjoy
pride fortnight?
being from london, my dads favorite joke was this: yknow, they celebrate the 4th of july back in england too -- only they call it thanksgiving. ;)
yeah Ormal, and it's right on my doorstep this year - just have to make up my mind whether to be lazy and go to the street party, or make an effort to see the parade
LOL Eva!
Hey Everyone! NB - if Straight Tom is cute, I'm sure I can help out with that avalanche :)
wish they had something like that where I live -
omg he is, Pinny ;) too cute to be straight. we'll get 'im...
im pretty sure they just recently had our local pride parade...
No no no! Leave some good ones for me!
do they not, Ormal? a lot of big cities seem to now...if you feel you're missing out, head down to London next year - we're hosting international pride week. Should be interesting!
I'd have to move to a city for street parties I think. I wish I could head to London next year. I've not been to England before
play fair Pinny, you get the remaining 95% of the male population to pick from ;)
I do a lot of wishing, can't you see?
well, it's partly luck for me, Ormal - I kind of live in the centre of London's 'gay district', so it makes sense that it'd be right on my doorstep!
hello all
clue for the ai12 pleas?
mire mires
the one who zeros in on a target
whoops sorrt
I live in the suburbs, and they are kind of quiet. One day maybe I'll move to a big city for a year or so, just for a change of pace
We're having ours in July because the universe is giving me a break, Eva ;) June was a sad month; July has pride and my birthday...party month.
pinny -- clearly NB doesnt understand that 95% of the GOOD male population ARE gay. ;)
oh duh
wasn't looking at the list right
thanks Babble Rabble
yw, ma'am
So true EvaN! All the guys I know are short, fat and balding.
But my former gay housemate was a model (from Singapore). So unfair!
Poor Pinny! I think you need to meet straight Tom.
s'why i cling for dear life to my fiance. he may not be perfect, but hes perfect for me. ;)
Ha ha. Actually, I've got a date to meet a personal trainer and I've lined up a date with a hot lawyer for when I'm in Boston
So keep your fingers crossed for me
Eva, that is one of the most romantic things I've ever heard!
Good for you, Pinny! Knock 'em both dead and have them fight to the death to win your hand.
Best of luck to you Pinny@!
ra
i can be romantic once in a while. ;)
now, can i pleeeease get a clue for the single E and single A in the 4th column for NBT
i'm baffled
*tuts* there she goes, bringing the grid into it..
it
singular A - plural for a valve
hahaah. i assure you that if either of the dates go well, i won't be on here talking about the grid!
sorry I don't have them yet Pinny
singular e... hmmm.... it's a 7 letter - old fashioned before a small bug
well, I'm afraid I can't offer you any clues, but I can try and follow your good example. Dating in London looks completely terrifying, there's not a sane person to be seen.
Wow - you have high standards if you're looking for sanity NB. ;)
Wait NB - don't want to stir up bad memories, but I've clearly missed the latest stage in the Leo situation :(
the A is like a courtyard...
or, for single a, plural Roman enclosed garden thingy
guess I'd better get back to work, though, and hopefully prince charming will come charging through the doors. It could happen. See you all later ;)
ooh - thanks for all the good clues. wish i could get them!
Courtyard, that's it! plural
Ahhh better clues... I always resort to science stuff
OK - got the single A!
have a good evening NB
THe A - can sometimes have fibrillation
Same, really - a chamber of the heart? like a room?
from speaking with my cousin, who also lives in london, im afraid i may have to agree with you, NB. glad its not a scene i have ever had to date in. ;)
YEs - I said valve but really chamber.
pinny -- unfortunately, Lep turned out not to be the lovely prince we had hoped he would be, and NB has left him and moved out.
LOL love the typo.. Lep....
Wow. I missed that chapter in the story. I knew Leo had already done the bad thing. Where's NB living now? Is he doing ok?
as it turns out, a friend of his as looking for a flatmate, so things turned out quite well. he seems to be handling it all very well. but of course, we are all worried like the friends and mothers that we babblers are...
OK - thanks for the update Eva. Poor NB. I hope he finds someone worthy very soon
*sigh* dont we all? we love our wittle NB. ;)
good evening all
hi sprite!
well, must head off for the nasty work thing..tc all and happy babbling.....poink!
hi sprite, hi all
hi jmb, bye cross

yesterday's seemed to fly by, by comparison
bbl to finish... i have 69 left (no chuckles please)
later, jmb.. no chuckles here!
no chuckles from me either, I have `105 left
61 left here
And not budging
70 here
sounds like a toughie
am pausing to look up some of the "weirdos" in hopes I will remember them .. n to have some time to do so today
that is always nice. I like that part of babble.
example = re7.48, new to me.. it is a pulse j**, fast airplane
don't have it yet but will remember
or maybe it refers to the engine of the fast plane, not sure
hello everybody
hi jacq
hi jacq!
Good Afternoon, Fellow Babblers. I ope you are all well and hearty
heya sprite and aloy
hi Nef
heya nef
so how is the grid today?
hi there, Nef !
might just be me, but it has been a slow go.. on the last lap now tho
Hi sprite, jacq, and Aloy
any clue for the at7 ? last one i need
seems to be the common judgment
I've been here almost 10 minutes and have 3 tiles til NBT; so it's *starting* out okay
at + put your mind to ***t, then add two vowels
thanks aloyisius
yw, glad you found it
Aloy, I've put my mind to sleep, or at ease, or to do something; but Can't figure out your clue
It's mostly an easy grid, but then there are some words that just are difficult to find
thanks Aloy and Nef
lol, you are close.. don't ***t on your laurels
NM, Aloy, I just got it
yay (-:
it was Nef's question that made me see what the *** were :)
now if you would have clued it as a medical term.... ;-)
my mind is very much at ***t today, lol
ok, closure of a body passage, or maybe its absence
or maybe it just wore away
:-D
(-: pretty word for something not so pretty
very true. Aloy. And often not the easiest diseases to work with
finishing up the t's and thinking of terra.. how is your pooch, sprite?
5 left and cannot see them
hi there, sgeek
aw he is terrific, Aloy. Sweetest of all.
hi geek
last te 7/28 please
nice scratch behind the ears for him, sprite.. or does he prefer a belly scratch?
he loves both
and I will do :)
better than double, geek,
Okay, my dtr. just stomped upstairs (she's sick today and didn't go to work) and was angry and yelling at us because I took the phone down to HER to deal with her creditor! It isn't MY fault that she's blown this guy off for several weeks; but WE are getting the calls from the credit company! Sorry, Girl, *I* am not going to take this garbage from you and it isn't my fault you haven't dealt with this call before this!
dont understand aloy
got it
aw Nef. Well done!
oh gheez... just looked it up, sorry.. has to do with a fever, not a number
its okay i figured it out
see, that is why I should look more words up
one a and one r
one r
phantom: trireme
#%(&%$#(&^(%!!!!
hi to you too, hursh
ah, hurshy is in a good mood today?

ty it is not as bad as it looks
YAY, SG!!! WTG!!!!
okay, I am off.....
bye sgeek
bye, sgeek.. see you next time!
bye SG
ooh, the fast plane is on the end of tr6.33 too
ah found the fast plane, thanks Aloy
done also.. think a "power nap" is in order.. Happy Babbling, all.. till next grid then..
sleep well, Aloy, and *hugs*
YAY, Aloy!! WTG!!!
just past half way time for a coffee
Please could I have the letter counts for the 2nd row E and I; and something from the the 3rd row O? I can't find anything thus far
(that was the 2nd row, 4th column E, BTW. The LONE E and I
or5/10
os5/10, or4/4
er7/32
THANK YOU! Now that I know the count, my mind is saying HOW did you NOT see thaose?
yep that is the one :)
and io4/4
babble blindness. Very common.
I wish there was a quick remedy for it, sprite!
asking for a clue usually works for me .. the second I ask, I see
and i wish there was a quick remedy for depression
and a quick remedy for hating your job (that didn't involve no longer having an income)
sounds like someone is having a tough day
wanna hug, hursh, or wanna beat up something?
beat up something!
(((hurshy))) I've always said that if you don't like your job; get out.
*puts up sturdy puppet that looks like someone you are mad at* Go ahead!
anything in particular (ducks)?
i have boxing games on the wii. unfortunately i want to beat something up when i am HERE, but once i get home, i just feel more tired and defeated.
finding a way to let your anger out would help against the depression. But that is easier said than done, I know.
if you love your job; it doesn't matter how little you earn; you will get by and do fine. If you hate your job; nothing else matters; it spills into the rest of your life. If it's just 1 person in that job who is making it unbearable; the murder is justifiable. ;-)
the increased exercise i've been doing for awhile now definitely makes me feel better... but then i come to work and blech. it's hard to know if it counts as depression if, yes, you have underlying tendencies that way but there are things wrong with your life, too.
of course, my marriage also sucks, so basically all i have going for me on a day-to-day basis is the cats and the wii.
anyway. i don't want this to become a whole thing in the chog, so, talk of other things.
cats are good at least
I think it counts as depression if you feel unable to do something about the problems. Repressed anger can be so very paralysing. Speaking from experience and not at all trying to say the solution is easy!
cats are great!
cats are cool
i wrote a poem when i was six... "cats are nice cats are great but cats don't have a fishing bate" and drew a picture of a sad cat on a shore looking at a happy fish.
awwww that is so sweet
hurshy, speaking from experience, you need to get out of one or both bad situations (((((hursh))))) i hope life gets easier hun
i add those that aggrevate me to the long list titled "people I must outlive so I can pee on their grave"
it's still on my grandmother's fridge, hehe
I like cats. They like me.
lollll jmitch!
well, i am hopefully going to be making a job change in about 6 months, so, just trying to look forward to that and hope it makes things a little better.
like your poem hurshy.
hursh it sounds dr Seuss like, seriously. You must have been one helluva 6 yo.
fireflies. Good grid, smooth parts and chewy parts.
congrats sprite
sounds like a chocolate snack bar
wtg sprite!!
hope the new job will be fun and all, hursh. Best to you. I'll donate you the puppet, beat it to smithereens :)
hi Katie
cats are great! what? :)
heya NB
ty sprite
jacq, that must be why I like babble so much :) Love chocolate.
lol
*hugs to Nancy Boy*
and off with me. Bye all, have fun.
can't have chocolate today. boo hoo.
hi, all :) I also saw some discussion of hated jobs...since I'm at work right now, I'll happily pitch in to that.
hi NB. How are You?
I got back at gone 8pm tonight for the third night in the row, good job I like mine!
7 7 letter words left. ugh.
((Sprite)) :) and hiya, Nef! I'm alright I suppose, a little fed up. Yourself?
I'm tired. A member of DH's small family died and I drove up to the funeral Monday and back again yesterday with DH and his 84 yr old Aunt. It's a 7 hour drive each way
ugh, sounds exhausting
great picure for your icon, BTW
oh man, Nef :( last thing you need!
and I didn't mention that there was road construction everywhere we went!
thank you :) I haven't had much cause to smile lately, so the picture is there to remind me to do so ;)
sounds like the journey from hell, Nef!
NB, go read the bottom sentence of your profile. Thenigs will be better soon
re 7/48??
I guess :) it just feels strange to suddenly be on my own. This is such a big planet and I'm drifting around on it entirely unprotected ;) thank you though - a good thing to keep in mind!
It wasn't too terrible. The weather was nice for traveling. The sad thing was that this was a woman younger than me who didn't let anyone know that she was so sick. It was wonderful to see the whole town turn out for both the visitation and the funeral. It's just going to be hard for many people for a while
ooh, there's an re7/48?! good to know...
re + ** there! + plane engine
oh Nef, how sad! wonderful to know she was so loved and appreciated, though - very touching for those close to her
well no wonder i hadn't stumbled upon THAT!
er7,32? help?
NB, you aren't all alone in this world. That was something that hit home yesterday: we all have so many others we are connected to and it doesn't always show
phantom - temerity
er7 = poetic 'before' + tiny bit
Nothing wrong with being alone....helps you find yourself.
yeah, guess I have a lot to be grateful for, when I think about it. thanks, Nef! you make a good agony aunt ;)
thanks
compound 7 letter word - the hour at which we have our scones and hot beverage...
what's an agony aunt? I've never heard that te** before
yet the homonym of what you have when you go golfing doesn't count...
that's two words hurshy.
an agony aunt is someone you go to for advice :)
erk, I'd better get back to work, though..
why should it be two words if the other one isn't?
I dunno.
'cuz it's English?
back to work then NB. (DH is futzing around; needs attention every so often)
right you are Nef ;) and thanks. later, all!
found the tiny bit is a bug.
yes. tiny bit. bug.
tiny bug.
i have 3 j's - je4, jo4 x 2, help with the other two?
ooh found a third jo4
help with the other ONE?
ji4! i'm pullin' peris all over the place.
ty hursh
wtg, hurshy! Keep it up and we'll all get done today with you! :-D
fireworks.
must go drink more clear liquids.
poof
YAY, mixie!!! WTG!!!
Wait- I don't get the ji clue :(
that's because there wasn't a clue, other than that it's four letters...
it rhymes with italian hello/goodbye word.
j + 3 different vowels, Pinny
oh! Ha! that explains it!
Thanks Nef! Just greyed my J
well i'm done and i'm goin' home, bye all.
Good night, hurshy. Stop and smeel the flowers on your way home so you can relax a bit.
Geez! I just re-read my last post and no one commented about the "smeel!" You guys ARE all focused on finishing the grid!!!
i did see it...was just trying to be kind :)
it did make me grin though
LOL! It was an accidental misprint; but I'm glad it made you smile!
i have typos all the time, so i know how to read it
we all make typos a lot.
that is true
as I play this game, I sometimes think it's my typos that make some of these grids harder than others
i know the feeling!!
i have to brag on my son's new car...it's my icon.
it's a black... miata?
no Nissan
2003 nissan 350z
just got it a week ago...he's very happy!
did he buy it himself or did you help him?
it's nice looking. I've always told my kids that red and black are the 2 colors of cars the police pull over the most often.
i co-signed only because he goes to school part time and only works part time
hello all
i know!! but he had his heart set on a black one.
tired of this grid and 52 left
How old is he? I did help by co-signing for my kids on their first "newer" cars; we'd always given them our old hand-me-downs at first
I had a red car for almost 19 years and only got stopped once
hi peri.
he's 23. his credit score was good enough, just not enough income on his own.
it mustn't have been the right shade of "Pull Me Over Red" then, peri! ;-) Or it wasn't a cool car
his first car he bought outright...paid cash for a junker.
could I please have a clue for the er7 please
don't have it yet katie...sorry
I learned that color from a co-worker. She was a transplant nurse coordinator and bought this cute but fast little red convertible. She was pulled over 4-5 times before she learned to slow down.
er + vowel + dust bug
thanks luv!!
ty Luv
She'd pull up to a stop light next to a motorcyclist not wearing a helmit and she'd hand out donor cards (she was quite good-looking too)
hello
hi m9
evening all
hi m9
hi good enough
hi Good Enough
hey GE
hey nef how did the trip go yesterday?
that is REALLY funny about the donor cards!
it was okay, 7 hours driving up and 7 hours back with road construction both ways (it wasn't bad to drive through, just LOTS of short bits of road work); plus too hard on DH
ew yuckers
is he resting lots today?
We went up Monday for the visitation and then the funeral was Tues. AM. The whole otwn turned out for both. That church couldn't have held one more person if it had too. It really made me aware of how much one person connects with everyone else. She was avery quiet good person, and it was apparent that everyone loved her
then i guess it was worth the trip
yep. He wanted to do stuff and I told him NO and that *I* didn't feel up to it (sometimes that works better than saying HE looks tired)
who died Nef?
good thinking Nef
my DH's cousins' wife. DH only has 4 cousins and as a young boy and teen he'd go up to stay at his cousins' and help with the farm work. This is his oly male cousin
She was younger than me and had cancer; we knew that but no one knew how sick she was. Her middle child went to see her 2 days before she died and she was still talking about getting a second opinion; her son went back home (about 800 miles away and she died and he couldn't get off for the funeral. :-(
(that should have been "ONLY" not "oly"
sorry for your loss Nef
that's terrible that he couldn't be there
thanks, peri.
37 left bbs
I agree GE
we got back from vacation on tuesday and i haven't been able to really get into the grids the last few days; just kinda skimming across the top
i think i need a day off to dig into a grid completely
sometimes that's good enough, GE. this isn't really the type of game where you want to win regardless of anyone else
very true. i just haven't done them to my satisfaction and i don't necessarily mean completing the whole thing
tr 6/33 please
well, you're okay with the game unless you wake up in the middle of the night and have to rush out and add words in the middle of your sleep!
LOL
tr 6/33 is a number and a type of plane
thanks nef!
tytyty
yw :-)
Hello...
Hi Jellen
re 7/48 please
Sorry, I don't have it yet...
we're watching flash mobs...
hi Jellen
Hi, Nef...how did the trip go?
hi all, getting ready for work, pouring wonderful rain here...
Katie, it ends with that type of plane again
re + do re mi fa ** + fast plane
time to eat supper...bbs
katie, re + i'm **rry you broke your dish + fast plane
Jellen, I just posted about it in the chog a little bit ago; you can still read it
ty wild & Nef & Une.....Fireworks
Will do...
yw and congrats
congrats, katie!!
Wahoo for Katie!!!
glad you're getting rain, red. We've had too much this past month
m9, i love watching flashmobs!!
YAY, Katie!!! WTG!!!!
yay for red's rain! :-)
We get some every day, but usually onyl for a few minutes, this one is nice and cooling. May knock the temp off..
what's a flash mob?
Good evening, babblers -
here's wikipedia's def edited slightly by moi: a group of people who assemble in a public place, perform an act for a brief time, then disperse. The term flash mob is generally applied only to gatherings organized via telecommunications, social media, or viral emails
hi JBV
Hi, JBV
Nef, lately there've been some great videos posted on youtube of groups suddenly bursting into song in unlikely places like the grocery store . . . and there was a great Ghost Buster's performance recently at the New York Public Library :-)
I am in the midst of a strange and wonderful day - first day of retirement but that's not even the best part.....
yes . . . ??
thanks, Unea. I guess my age is showing
had a call from a cousin of mine in Italy who I haven't seen or talked to in 37 years (!!!!) - still can't believe it!
how exciting!!
Wow, JBV!
that is a wonderful surprise!
WOW, JBV! Congrats on retiring and how wonderful to hear from an old family member like that!
it's part of a longer drama - I can summarize quickly: I had visited my father's hometown in Sicily in 1973, lived with this family, kept up a correspondence for a few years, then let it evaporate, you know how that is
I think you have your next vacation
then this year my brother decided to take his wife and 3 grown kids to the same town to see what's up
last year my ex-BIL called from New Zealand out of the blue -- talked forever -- hadn't communicated since the '80s
retirement?!! ohhhhh... *sigh*
JBV that is SO cool! :-)
they meet my aunt, who's now 91 and exchange addresses, phone numbers, emails, etc. , so voila - this call out of the blue
serendipitously fabbo!
WONDERFUL!! Great story, JBV!
if it was in a movie, people would say it's too far out, could never happen
now I have to brush up on my Italian - they don't speak a word of English
oh, wow, so your phone conversation was all in Italian?
WOW! That's even more interesting! How much Italian do you remember?
yes, Une - I did pretty good
impressive -- i think it's sooo much harder when you can't see lips moving!
Had you been exposed to Italian in the past 37 years?
yes, I agree, we might try Skype next time but I need my son to help me with that and he said the same, can't do it without his son
Nef, I speak Spanish very well and I do try to keep the Italian wheels oiled, but no, no one really to talk to here - I go to an online forum which is very helpful, wordreference.com
LOL!
back in a mo . . .
wordreference.com is good for anyone who is trying to get native speakers to help with translations - you can join a forum in Spanish, French, English and I think they have German too
At least you know some foreign languages. I've never had the chance to learn (other than short medical phrases, such as Cough, pain, turn, etc.)
LOL:)
my sister-in-law is a nurse and over the years has become very proficient in Spanish (they live in Santa Fe0
I used to know how to ask if a person has pain and other short phrases in Russian, Korean, Greek, Hmong, Vietnamese, Ethiopian; but NO Spanish!
help with either of the at's please
just so I know which comes from which A
(I worked on kids with heart defects from around the world once upon a ti**
at 5/10 - architectural term - open space or lobby
at*** is the upper chambers of the heart
(plural form)
thanks!
and at 7/28 - at + consonant + memory loss is amn****
at 7 is another medical te** meaning closure; as in Pulmonary At*****
that's funny, Nef, we defined the same word 2 ways
and I had no idea about the meaning of at 7
thanks again!
I *know* both of the ways I described them
and both ways were perfect!
:-)
speaking of hearts, have you heard from RIverdance, we were all worried about her son
Saw her yesterday, but she didn't mention anything about her son's health...
She went to see her son's team play, and they all signed a mini bat for him...
That phantom neonate is really annoying.
Hi, Kaplan
I'm just barging in- probably something important is being discussed.
Hi Jell.
Barge away...I already killed the chat...
the chat has a life of its own, hi jell, how is the store progressing
Ok. I've been monkeying for 10 minutes with no results in the 4 letter word category
I need the e in the second row for nbt. I figure it's an er, but I don't know which one.
The building is coming along...the rest is on hold for now...
try to b in by end of 3rd quarter, that's the money maker till jan
er + vowel + tiny bug?
go away, neonate!
got it! thanks Jell!
With Tim's health the way it is, we'll just have to see...
Poor Elmo. He is not a word.
best of luck with health, thats all i have now, still need job though
sorry, had to go check my email - waiting for a reply from Italy
This is a very quiet chog. Is everyone else rendered comatose by this grid, as I am?
zzzzzzzzz
It's been an hour since the last post.
morning all.
hi day
Morning? How is tomorrow, anyway, those of you who have arrived there?
its cold here
I think it's really interesting that for some of you it is the next day.
Or that my present is yesterday for you.
Even though we are here at the same time.
day, since it is already tomorrow where you are could you give me the winning lottery numbers
I mean, really.
aknitter, sure!!! 5,89,345,,87,21,
need clue for te 7 32 please.
There we go. If you tell me something you know just happened to you, for me it will not have happened yet!
running out to buy a ticket ...
share the winnings ?
Did I wake everybody up?
kaplan i like the way you think
It's nice to know that there will be a tomorrow, after all.
kaplan its much too early for such deep thoughts
People try to keep up with my brain but can't quite do it.
It is not early- it is your yesterday.
Can you tell I don't like this grid at all?
Humming*tomorrow, tomorrow, why wait for tomorrow, its only a daaaaay awaaaaaaaaaaay.*
I was just singing-
kaplan do you have clues? need te 7 32 clue please.
not a day away .... it is today
at what hour do you drink not coffee, mkg? that is te7/32
dont have that one yet
may i ihave a clue for re7/48 please?
are you kidding? I have nothing. But if that was an invitation to shut up...
what about the song.... i love you more today than yesterday..... would that really be today or tomorrow or.... very confusing this time thing
Hi guys -- just a quick hello -- no idea what time it is in NA. We are about to dock somewhere along the Yangtze for a tour of a world famous porcelain studio -- looking forward to that. Just wanted to check in and say hi -- really enjoying the trip so far. If you see Stidmama on line please thank her for the dinner arrangements on my behalf --we really enjoyed the evening. Back in about 2 weeks. :)
Sounds fabulous, nan!
sounds great nan, enjoy
Hi, all
ty for fantastic clue. love it.
kaplan, not an invitation to shut up. an invitation to give clues thats all.

aknitter, no not like the Brits, 4.00 is almost wine o'clock:)
KJE, I dread tomorrow.
DREAD, DREAD, DREAD
what is happening tomorrow pam?
it's pammekins!
All of the new docs taking the T
dont get the girls name for the se 7. help???????????
Love your picture, KJE
wine o'clock .... good time
YOU dread tomorrow? I start on the wards post-call tomorrow at 0700
I know it's so much worse for doctors
ahah! i've always thought july 1 would be a terrible time to go to the ER
those docs will already be at work by the time you leave pam
but you have no idea the hell for the commuters!
I leave at 0630
well to all of you dreading tomorrow let me just gloat and say this ..... I AM ON VACATION....starting tomorrow
The newbies think that's enough time to get to the hospital
don't you know west side story mk?
ty got it dorens. wasnt t hinking of the play.
nah - no more hell than normal... one group comes in, but the exact same number go out... it doesn't change the commute!
No, it's not the number
it's the newness
meanie
It's the "where do I pay?"
they are stressed, give them a smile and a helping hand ; )
Does this bus go this way?
Oh, i do, kje
But, still
and don't resent them for being so young pam, they can't help it
I would NEVER go to the ER this weekend, though
It's not the age
it's the cluelessness
she doesn't resent it, she is jealous! LOL
Good norning, all. Hi, daykat.
these smart docs in the prestigious longwood area...
OK, i'll stop
some of my favorite people are docs, after all
and I might have to see mine next week. GROAN
Don't get anyone's clues.
i can laugh at you all cuz i am on vacation. no newbies to deal with for me
Can't see any ma's on my grid.
studies have been done... hospitals are noless safe in July - actually, supervision increases by so much that is may be the safest time to be there
But they're probably there.
Just can't see 'em. Too early!
my son was once one of them.. now he's actually teaching there (brigham & women's)
I believe that, kje
i am not rational
where have you gone ak, or are you vacationing at home
LOL
mit it
at least you admit it
My doc is with Beth Israel

bichon, Aussies don't realize it is so cold in winter, either - that's the problem - we don't construct or outfit our homes for the cold, certainly not this house anyway.

Hi lbd! sorry was focusing on grid..lol

Hello all
thanks lynxxx!
hi lynxxx!
hi Dawg
Hi, lynxxx
Hi Jellen, sorry had my head down grumbling at the grid losing words. How are you?
hello
hi Harp
Watching an exciting movie
hi again. I have 85 left and am watching Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman. I'm really distracted tonight!
Hi, harp
Hey Jane!
hi harp
nef, are you still headed to Montana?
Good Nef? not heard of that but he is usually great.
hi nef
Hi lbd
Excellent program (on the Science Channel)
hey jilly jill the birthday mom
ge everyone
ge to you too ru
Hey, ruru
hey ru
hi Ru
hi ruru
harp, we won't be able to make it. I thought I let you know; I can't leave DH and he can't travel that far. We just had a family funeral (his cousins' wife) up north and it was tough. It was a 7 hour trip each way
sorry to hear that, Nef. had she been ill?
7 hours is like running to the store for groceries in Montana
I figured nef, but I haven't been on much
not quite, ru, but close
ah Nef I'm sorry, I was hoping to see you too, but we understand
I am going to Big Sky and Bozeman this summer
you can drive for 7 hours and still be in MT!!
I know, ruru; but for someone with MS and new to wheelchairs etc. it is a tough drive. The trip to MT from here is 24-6 hours driving; and would not be pleasant (I'd be the only driver)
go to the museum of the rockies this time, ru
my point exactly jilly
(well, they have cars like that in rhode island too!) (old joke!)
I drove 7 hours and was still in MN, Jilly!
oh.. i get it nef.. I understand
what's the occasion ruru?
OOHH! Do go to the Muzeum of the Rockies, ru!
visiting some friends in Bozeman.. they own a home in Big Sky too
Harp, I hope you, Jilly and lbd can still get together in spite of my not coming.
lol, harp...just got the joke! (doh)
Yep, it's a two LONG days drive to go across MT from east to west!
jill, you can do it in one, if you're young and nuts!
they have three boys so I am giving it second thoughts though
wow ruru that's a pretty expensive area now. I grew up close to Big Sky, Bozo's home
they'd love dylan!
Jilly, it's ONLY 12-14 hours driving straight through across MT. It's another 12 hours across MN and ND or SD
well, we're about 6 hours west if you need to 'escape'!! lol
i haven't been back to bozo since 93
they stopped by here for a few hours and the three kids wore us out
they have soooo much energy ...
how old are the kids, ru?
If you need to escape go to Yellowstone, it's always nice and quiet there in the summer!
Sheesh Jane, I have never been that young and nuts BTW!
5, 7 , 10
OMG
I don't know how they do it..
way too much energy! but they'll be in their own environment, so should be able to burn it off without your help
Jilly, I've made that trip every other year up til 2006. And I'm not a young nuts person anymore
been way to long for me. my 'baby' turned 24 today...
whoa.
non-stop driving Nef?
...er jilli.. that's not a baby anymore
A number of times we have done it that way; when there are at least 2 drivers.
Twin Cities to Montana isn't bad. it's exactly 24 hours of driving from Missoula to St. Paul
they are always your baby...but I meant my youngest
oh...
my mom doesn't call me my baby
lol
yep, harp. Have you done it before? (It's longer going through on I-90 than I-94
maybe next time you can plan on taking the train to whitefish
I really hate trying that!
Dawg! Great idea...I love traveling on the train
lbd, we really tried to find the cheapest way to go. This year it wasn't possible due to medical bills in January (before DH got sick)
.... I hear that train a comin' ...
i know, nef. but maybe next year or whenever.
I love the train; but they didn't have any deals this year
I WILL come out and meet up with you; I promise!
I used to take my mother back and forth from MT to cA and used to take the train back in the fall....so much fun!
i've never taken a train, it would seem like a great way to actually see the country
It is, I really wish people would be less rushed and take trains, more cost effective than any other travel mode.
the one problem is that the train now goes through some of the most beautiful country at night and you get to see most of flat North Dakota and eastern MT during the day
hi all -
Thanks Nef, it would be wonderful to get together!
I walk a lot now these days..
walking the dog, ruru?
yeah.. and myself
taking time to smell the roses
that's good, ruru. We all need to do that more often. At least I need to do that more too
lol...i miss walking my dog, actually got me walking
hi and nbt
bbs; DH needs some help for a few minutes

definitely need a break from school, Nef, but the official diagnosis last optical visit was in fact "presby"opia = old vision
LOL! You need bifocals or trifocals?
bifocals, Nef. I am still technically far-sighted, it's the transitioning between close and far that doesn't happen. And of course it's harder to do the close work these days.
I went from no glasses to trifocals in about 5-6 years. Now I can't seem to see anything up close
(without my glasses)
I think is where I am headed, Nef.
did they advise you to start with reading glasses while reading?
and that nudges me just past halfway...
I've had glasses since I was 7...and my eyes are still changing!
I have reading glasses that I bought spontaneously (they work) but can never seem to remember where I put them.
