I do find that not using lickety makes me think more, but when it's a huge grid like yesterday's there is no way I would have time without lickety. how lovely, we live in a small rural area in the middle of suburbs, we have the benefits of seemingly being in the middle of the country and the convenience of being near all the facilities
We have to supply our own water and have a large tank which is full at the moment and we are battleaxed in behind other properties with a half kilometre driveway so we dont have any traffic at all - its really nice
I do like this size of puzzle, where there are perhaps two words from one square, and then it's greyed out. Feels very satisfying.

Hamsters are the cause of many woes. I once had to step out of the shower to answer the phone to a woman who reported that her hamster had an itch. It had been itching for 3 months, but why not ring on a Sunday morning?

I managed to keep calm that time - I did lose it with the girl who kept ringing up about the hamster baby that had been 'savaged'. She kept going on about being pregnant and I ended up telling her that I didn't care. I'm as bad as husband.
The only time I have ever called a vet in an emergency was when a cat was obviously dieing (sp?), and the only time I have ever called an ambulance was when husband did his spectacular Psycho scene last year and ended up in hospital in the middle of the night with a near broken night.

Yes, the baby hamster had been partially eaten by the mother - nothing could get the girl sensed into the fact that a savaged hamster baby = soon to be dead hamster.

I've just been writing it in an email to friends so I can copy and paste :)
What a strange news story today. A taxi driver went to hospital feeling ill after drinking out of a bottle of rum he was given by a customer, he was sent home, and died a few hours later of a massive heart attack. The series of events that led to that though, are quite remarkable. Someone - of course I can't now find the news story online to get the names and places - was smuggling back liquid cocaine into the UK disguised as bottles of rum. He asked 3 other passengers to take bottles through for him, and they did. At the UK airport, one of the passengers couldn't find the smuggler guy to give it back to (people are actually that stupid? huh) and gave it to one of the other helpful passengers. This lady then had 2 bottles of the "rum", and ended up somehow taking them home with her. She gave one of them to the cabbie who had taken her home, and a few days later he drunk some out of the bottle and promptly collapsed and died. Then! Some of his friends went round to his house and found the bottle of "rum" and drunk some after his death to toast the dearly departed. They didn't die, but were also severely ill!

Welcome back Scrabs. We kayaked on Flagstaff Lake in Maine
got interrrupted at work - back now - still not smoking NB and yes surgery was a success this time. Will know for sure in 3 months but all looks good.
We had a wonderful 6 days, even with a 7 hr hike up + down a mtn in the rain.
Yay for RD's son!

i will not risk surgery till i am crawling on all fours first
just be careful and know your limitations - a good hard sneeze could set it off

for us and our boy,it was till about two..right around the time he started thinking for himself basically lol
i was looking at pictures of daniel at this age, thinking how much i enjoyed it. not as needy as babies, not (quite) as defiant as older kids
and then they turn 4 and all he** breaks lose. Age 4 was the worse for me. Turning 5 was a miracle.

he got out of surgery at 4 or so. Had to lay flat for 6 hours. Was sitting up eating supper at 10 and walking the nurses station at midnight. He was discharged Sat am at 10. Had to wait for husband to come and get us.
i am so glad the surgery went well riverdance;))

Well, I spent the first years of my life speaking it, and all the other years hearing my parents speak it, so I have a little advantage ;) I would guess Japanese would be very hard, though, especially if you aren't used to thinking about words that way - pictures rather than structures.
i learned all my japanese from James Clavell lol
Well, that IS a slight edge you have, there, lol. I'm loving Japanese because it's so different from anything else. I'm kind of bafflled at how to know when to combine the three writing systems, but I'm concentrating on speaking more than writing.

Wolftrap National Park for the Arts - one open-air theater with pavillion and laws seats, and The Barns, an indoor venue.

On Aug 7th. We practiced on a smaller mtn a few days ago (6 mi roundtrip, 2900 ft). Mt Marcy = 14.8 mi roundtrip + 5344 ft. It was humbling--raining, we were soaked, tough climb, exhausted at the end.

We will take it slow, if needed, stay hydrated, and keep consuming fuel regularly. I waited too long to eat the other day and got nauseated + shaky.
